Starting point is 00:01:22 than you think hello welcome to fisting friday where we fist you on a friday and it's not a friday but it's a friday when we're recording this it is uh well this is a reader where we read the results for the previous week's episode of but am i wrong this is actually not the previous week's episode because we didn't have an episode last week for the record you're also not getting one this week and you also didn't get a dumpling me this week uh-huh you've been having a week and a half no unless i've been having too much like it is yeah i know my my cup runneth over parentheses negative connotation um so bowl yeah don't talk about that i can't we're not we're not in the clear um and uh yeah so that's where we're at and just listen to this this will be fun and
Starting point is 00:02:17 then Tuesday will be a roller coaster I think you got to some responses before I did and because I was like nobody has wrote in but then I was looking for one specific person because they write in every episode and you had already clicked because I was like if if they haven't written in something's wrong something's wrong yeah like our Instagram's not working uh-huh and so then I saw that they did and you it was not highlighted more so yeah so sorry for the delay everyone um we don't have as many like responses to all these not all of these got saved to the highlight we don't have as many responses uh for this one just because these went up so late without like any warning um which again you'll hear about later uh so my apologies but also is out of my hands
Starting point is 00:03:08 and in your asshole and but before that it was somewhere else yep um so this is for episode 104 who was wrong first up megan says that having a nanny is a luxury one percent said i was wrong 99 said i was not wrong and someone said for the nanny one i agree and disagree of course nannies deserve fair wages and working conditions but i wouldn't say it's a luxury it can be a necessity for people who can't get in can't get a child care space it can be really hard in some cities like megan said about year plus wait lists anyway i see people posting for child care on choosing beggars read it all the time and they're delusional and i agree i the luxury in the sense is like uh there's a luxury car and then there's a car like there it's it's not that like child care
Starting point is 00:03:53 or caring for a child is a is a luxury children need to be cared for like that's it's a it's a it's a right it's the same thing like food there's fine dining and then there's food like food is a to me i think is a universal human right every no one should be go hungry i think everybody should be able to have food stamps they need like all of those things but it's like the the level so individualized care for a individual salary is a luxury right like in the sense of like if we were going to use it in comparison to like the ceo of kellogg saying that eat cereal because that's what low-income people should be doing versus like having growth like groceries with a variety of food in that sense he's saying that like groceries is like a luxury so eat our cereal
Starting point is 00:04:49 instead yeah and like this is like the whole thing is like well i have to go to work and someone has to watch my kid and i'm like they have to go to work too it's their it's their job is the same level of importance as your job and so the whole thing of being like well if i pay that it's like paying my entire salary and i need my salary to survive and i go and they need a salary to survive so like they either stay home with your children or you go to work and if it's like well it's not an option i can't afford to live if i don't make this money and i'm like and neither can they so like right you it's that's that's what that is and that therefore it's like why i always said big big believer in like universal child care um and i'm not someone who's like well if you can't
Starting point is 00:05:27 like if you can't afford it don't have a kid first of all poor people are allowed to have kids second of all some people don't have a choice in having a kid and the laws are getting stricter and stricter and stricter and so it's like it's not like i think well you shouldn't have a kid then if you're too poor like that's that's not what that's about but it's a nanny is not the answer so yeah and then someone else said megan is totally right it is a luxury as someone who was a nanny and now employs nannies i wholeheartedly let's go i wholeheartedly believe that i will say that a lot of people who are not experienced are trying to get into the professional nanny world by lying about qualifications or demanding professional pay with nothing to back it up but that and that
Starting point is 00:06:05 can be extremely frustrating being told someone wants 30 an hour because they had kids or they're trying to get an experienced rate but of zero child care or newborn experience is frustrating and insulting to those with certifications and degrees for their nannying. Someone told me she wanted $35 an hour but had no newborn experience or child care experience but was a marine biologist. Like, are you bringing a dolphin to echolocate my child to sleep? When I respectfully told her no, she said that because she had no experience, she was willing to give me a discounted rate if she could use my daughter's
Starting point is 00:06:33 medical appointment for college research. What? For her college research papers, which was weird to me. so you have no experience but want me to pay pay you an experienced nanny's wage to give you to give you research to use in your professional life i'd be happy to pay twenty dollars for that and teach her and give her experience but even then she wanted 30 just weird all around but yes nannies are a luxury and being a nanny takes actual work and qualifications what's a doctor's appointment going to teach you about marine biology is your baby a seal is that how she was
Starting point is 00:07:08 I know when I was in college, I like participated in studies that the grad students in psychology were working in. But like, and I also was a biology major and I could not use anyone's doctor's appointments as research. So I don't, I don't, I truly don't know. I don't know. That sounds very weird. that's very weird to me no it's like really weird like usually we can decode like what like what the like what maybe why or whatever and like i on i'm at a lot like i don't i don't understand what that means i gotta hold on we'll message him for a follow-up for i gotta google
Starting point is 00:07:55 this using a pediatric and maybe she was trying to get in to switch her career path but to get all the way to marine biologist yeah i got nothing yeah weird um then we have someone who said it continues to blow my mind that people believe that caring for children is a job that doesn't require substantial pay or is something to look down upon nannies do so much work that's not just focused on the kids they often cook clean do laundry etc even as a babysitter which i know is a completely different commitment i never know what's appropriate to charge parents for because i don't want to take advantage of them but caring for kids especially alone is hard work and needs to be compensated if someone feels that their life is so hectic to the point where they need
Starting point is 00:08:36 a nanny they need to know how to accommodate them for that work appropriately yeah i agree with that although i don't believe you can like take advantage of um like in a situation like that of like what to charge like am i taking advantage of if they can afford it they'll pay it if they can't afford it that you know i mean like i don't think payment in a way is like taking advantage um when you're the one being paid i think then your services don't wouldn't match that um so yeah and i think also part of a lot of the problem is if we want to look at it from a broader spectrum as well is that back in the day grandparents were the ones that were taking care of the children um but now most people don't even live in the same places that their
Starting point is 00:09:27 um parents live and then on top of that their parents are are also working yeah and they're not working and they're old they've got lead paint and like i wouldn't have trusted my grandma if my grandma watched me as a kid like that would have been so bad i would be smoking cigarettes like it's just like and they called so much has shifted and changed yeah that it's just like that if you're if your parents are old enough that they're not working and they are of the age of being retired they're in their 70s 80s or it was where like the the grandmother never worked yeah it's insane but like if if we're getting to that point in time they're going to be hella fucking old and they're the people were also having children younger yeah and i'm like
Starting point is 00:10:12 and it's the you don't they don't want their grandparents they don't want them watching those kids and so like even now in the way that you would maybe want your parents who are younger like you said they're still working they're doing all that like it's just not gonna it's the cycle of it doesn't work and like you people want a village which i totally agree with and like it's very hard to have a village but you you have to pay a team at this point and like you can't just count on people to be a village for free for their job right and so then like it was then it was like women of color have always worked and then we're in the homes and then we're also raising their children alongside of the other children and so then that was and then severely underpaid
Starting point is 00:10:57 and now people want to be paid for what they're worth and um because like it's against the law and most people also now are filing it as a small business as they should when before they weren't they were just getting paid cash yeah and people still trying to do that uh-huh which is against the law like you can't do that um so it's a lot of things where people are living in modern times but they still have an old mindset and aren't thinking about it in big picture yeah i think there's a lot of um uh misogyny tied into the whole aspect of it um as well and like i do think there's a lot of racism tied into like there's a lot of people who are like i only i don't i don't i want someone who is speaks another language probably french maybe maybe another maybe
Starting point is 00:11:53 something else um and i want them to be i want them to be young not too young not attractive not someone who's going to be attractive like that um and i want them to look like me i want them to be like young and white and have this love and care for my child uh but i also don't want them to treat my child to like love them or like them more in any of this um and then you see people who are then just on the opposite side uh being racist in the way of just saying oh they say find a college student or an immigrant who wants to get paid under the table and you can have them and they they'll work more hours and then it's like or doing a no-payer program and it's kind of like you just keep trying to cheat the system in a way that like when you look at it it breaks
Starting point is 00:12:38 down it's always going to break down this is this is either racist this is either sexist this is very misogynistic um or this is just predatory in a way and so it's like if you can't get it cheaply without succumbing to one any of those things this has to reflect on the bigger uh umbrella like you said and at the end of the day you should be voting for politicians that are which most of those people aren't if they're trying to get away with shit voting for politicians that are in favor of child care vouchers um on a state level yeah in addition to ones who are for universal health care and abortion because those things have to go hand in hand yes it's not a solution to unwanted pregnancies so yeah systemic problems exactly

Starting point is 00:14:47 You've got questions. We've got ancestors. Search free until August 31st. Visit Ancestry.ca for details. Terms apply. All right. And then me. Melissa says, stop trying to rely on black women to save the world. or be your scapegoats. Zero percent said I was wrong. When they know, they'll be careful. 100 percent said I was not wrong. Someone said both summers during my internship, I was the only black female that was there for the duration of the summer. Each summer, I felt burdened to speak
Starting point is 00:15:27 up for racist and insensitive things going on and was often the only person initiating these conversation. There were multiple times where I had to step in the gap because races happened to volunteers working under me or people around me, and it was completely exhausting. Also, whenever you are the single person of color or any kind of minority in any situation, it's exhausting to have to engage in those conversations all the time as if the information is not readily available. Stop making black women clean up the messes that you created. Hear, hear. That hear, hear was from me. that's for me actually i agree just not a black woman um did then we have writer number one are they wrong for having a wedding at the same year as their cousin two percent said the writer is
Starting point is 00:16:18 wrong and 98 said the writer is not wrong it's crazy how when people get married they think the world revolves around them once your wedding is over with the check and the checks have cleared and no one is centering their focus on your marriage i get that because it's her cousin they may have some same guests at each wedding but it's beyond common for people to attend multiple weddings in a year the writer's definitely not wrong and should have their wedding whenever the fuck they want to yeah i agree with that i really want to get an update on that like i'm i'm truly just addicted to the fact that like everyone who plans a wedding is so miserable and then they document the whole thing talking about how miserable they are and then they go
Starting point is 00:16:52 through it and they spend all that money and then they do then they talk about how all the things that went wrong and then like through tears and like clenched teeth they go i don't regret it at all it was worth every penny and i'm like what do we do like it literally i'm like unchain yourself from this idea like just drop it like it's just like people will make themselves miserable and like choosing to be mad about someone having a wedding the same year as you i'm like this is how you know you're in the bad place that like this is where your mind goes for everything like everything is a problem everything's a dilemma and i'm not saying that people are like making up problems i'm like no planning a wedding is so horrible and stressful and there's all these
Starting point is 00:17:28 problems and so then when anything happens in your life you assume it's a problem and then you make things that aren't problems problems like it's just it's it's fucking crazy to me yep yep yep yep yep agree oh i love this one unless i'm still on over this one and then we have writer number two watching someone's insta story that you don't actually know 20 said the writer is wrong 80 said the writer is not wrong there's some discussion going on over on our facebook page that i would like to oh no way so someone said so i just listened to the episode of the girl who became an accidental and an accidental creeper on the instagram story of the girl she was mutuals with i do this all the time haha i don't know if it's like an aussie thing but i literally don't give
Starting point is 00:18:17 a f that people can see me watching their stories even if i don't follow them like why have your profile on public otherwise lol am i dumb look i will continue this way see that's if you don't care that's totally fine yeah it's when you care yeah and then it's like well this could have been avoided by not doing it and then uh someone said no i totally agree and if you're the one checking who's looking at your stories then that is the problem well everyone does that yeah of course I know every day who, if I post, which is, I don't post every day, but I know who will be the first five people to look at my stories. And that's because I know that I'm showing up first on there because it shows you by how often you interact with people. And that's who shows up first.
Starting point is 00:19:15 No, I know. Who's your five? One of them is. because i was about to say i i don't even know if i'm in it i'm gonna know that some of these are gonna be men and then the other one is my other ex uh-huh and then it's it's oh i love yeah melanie and my mom if she has her phone but yeah you're i'm surprised by that i feel like she was like she's like a catch-up kind of person that's like my mom loves instagram she well she loves her family her girls on instagram no of course she has to be in the know yeah
Starting point is 00:19:52 because what's going on in her she's a girl mom and she's got her her girls are she's got two girls by her and then her other girls over there and then those girls got girls and so she's gotta she's gotta keep up with it yep i love that and so like with those boys i never i have them muted so i never see their stuff unless i get onto my finsta and i look from there i literally almost said the only way i bet half of the people who see yours are people you have you've muted like i'm gonna bet that that's who that is yep that's so funny that is so funny men are so predictable they are um and then and then someone else said i wish i had this level of confidence lol i have I have a second account that is private just so I can see what pics look like in my grid because
Starting point is 00:20:40 I like the aesthetics. So I use that for public stories since my name isn't on it. And then the original poster said, LOL, I think I must be odd. If there's somebody that I want them to know that I looked at their stories, then I'll of course look. But there's some people that i i don't there are like and i mean this don't i don't mean this derogatory for everybody but i mean this derogatory for this person there are normal people non-famous people who i don't follow who don't follow me um who i when i had beef with them would intentionally watch all of their stories and i would make sure that i would be so on top of it i think i even turned on post notifications the story notification so i could be the first person to be like this is a threat bitch this is
Starting point is 00:21:29 a fucking threat i am in here watching and like they like for so long were not watching me back and i actually even think that maybe they like watched me one time back and then was like like then went private or something and i was like oh and that's when i was like oh that's funny i got under your skin oh somebody else said if the account is public isn't that the point to let anyone watch your stories regardless if you know them although if you're watching someone that much consistently just follow them then i guess yeah like it in in writing like yes but it's like the consistency of that person watching your stories without them following you which makes it from a certain point of view makes it kind of weird like why are you watching my stories all
Starting point is 00:22:24 the time but you're not following me that's kind of weird especially if you're not like a public facing person in any type of way i don't find it like to me someone having a public profile isn't like they're trying to get random people to watch their stuff to me it's just like oh i assume someone has a private profile because they're like oh i don't want my family to see or my job but like I'm like not comfortable with that or I'm like kind of a more private person um but I I there I feel like there's so many people who are not private people like who are not like public facing figures or who like want followers or whatever who have public accounts just because like they don't feel the need to be like super private like do what I mean like I don't think
Starting point is 00:23:11 that it's like you're either public because you want people to watch you or you're private because you don't I think like it's being outgoing versus introverted I don't think it's like if you're outgoing you want to be famous if you're introverted you don't like i just think it's depending on like your life circumstance and like what you post and how comfortable you feel knowing that someone like people could look you like whatever that is like i don't know like i like when people have public profile like profiles and like i i think it's um there's so many people i know who like aren't high school with me like aren't trying to be famous and like don't have they have the same number of followers like people i know from high school who like are private like
Starting point is 00:23:47 right but most of the time people i know who went private was for their jobs usually yep but or if they have kids and they like only want some people to see like these are the things that i'm posting i don't want everybody to see my kids that i'm posting yeah so i don't think they're necessarily like connected in that sense yeah but that also could just be me yep i think it's just different different search uh situations i um went through yes yesterday when i was quite bored and had nothing to do i was just going through and just unfollowing people that i no longer cared what and i i didn't even realize i was following you following them because the way instagram works now is that you don't see everybody all the time so i'm following a lot of people and then be like
Starting point is 00:24:32 are you sure you want to unfollow this person because they have a private account so you would have to request oh god i hate when that happens and i go do i want to but then i was like i literally haven't even seen this person's profile in so long like i truly don't care see for me i always have a good unfollowing when um people were like make gaza parking lot and i said wonderful thank you for showing me your true colors and now i'll be unfollow immediately yes and they're like private account and i said thank god yeah i'm so glad that this is not for the public to see and i'm so sad my eyes were unfortunately had to watch you post this uh another person said if it makes the writer feel any better at least they weren't in demi
Starting point is 00:25:14 lovato situation where they got caught liking a bunch of henry cavill's ig posts and tried leaving thirst traps to then to then unfollowing him back when ig had that who liked what feature and it was viewed by everyone i miss that feature i miss miss it too i miss it so much oh god i miss it so fucking much now i have to like scroll through the babylon b to like see people like when i see like i'm like i do it regularly to like check you said babylon b yeah babylon b it's like uh uh it's like the onion for conservatives but like it's written in like sarcasm kind of way so people feel pretty comfortable liking fucked up shit because it's like phrase is a joke so that's one of the things that i do because a lot of people won't
Starting point is 00:25:58 follow um but they'll like things and i'm will periodically check if someone posts something that's like someone adjacent to like a sarcastic like funny remark that i go it's actually pretty fucked up and then i'll find it and i'm like okay you just like to post about making fun of barbies and wheelchairs cool yikes yeah another person said i would have joined the witness protection program as would i i need an update to be honest no i need one actually so bad this this has been weighing heavy on me another person said my true question is why didn't she just follow her in the first place there's plenty of people that i went to high school with and we weren't friends but we're still mutuals on social media because we ran in similar crowds she's definitely not wrong
Starting point is 00:26:51 for being respectfully nosy but definitely needs to get a burner account and hope to never see that girl in person also because it's kind of just like wait why are you watching all this but you still won't follow me because yeah i'm kind of offended like i'm like yeah just follow me it feels like an attack almost no that's because that's what i did like i'm like to me i'm showing up in your and viewing your story as a threat if i'm not following you so like i mean if i do it any of you like that that was that's not a threat unless you've done something that like would cause me for that but i mean like people i know are adjacent no but oh okay two other people responded saying use a finsta my girly did you read that one no someone else said wrong for
Starting point is 00:27:35 not using a finsta i also have someone from high school that constantly watches my story and it weirds me out to know it see the entire time i was wondering why you guys said it was creepy i see your side for sure also because she isn't following her but also her account is public so anyone can watch it and she's allowing them to isn't that how instagram influencers become popular in the first place people find them find them interesting watch their stories and it goes on until they have a huge following again i think that only works if like they're trying to be um an influencer and i don't think having a public profile is indicator of trying to be an influencer there's plenty of people that don't have that have public profiles but don't want to be influencers

Starting point is 00:29:03 scotia bank you're richer than you think and then we have wrong of the week stephanie joanne angelina germanotta and uh she is wrong gaga 86 said she is wrong 14 said she is not wrong that is a little too high of a ratio for my liking and someone said definitely wrong especially because she deals their own health issues but unfortunately she's also very much pro-israel so it's unfortunately a fuck her 2x yeah um and then someone else said 2x as in two times yeah sorry that was just clarifying in case someone did not understand someone else said agreeing with melissa that gaga isn't a good person which i hate saying because i love gaga she's the reason why i wanted
Starting point is 00:29:55 to come out seeing someone being queer oh she's the reason why i wanted to come out seeing someone saying being queer is okay not only did I find her saying she performed while having COVID was stupid but was stupid of her but seeing videos for having full support of Israel and touring there and showing love to them while ignoring what's going on in Palestine that I have not seen because I um well I have I I don't think I've muted her or blocked her but after the COVID thing I just have uh not engaged with any of her content so like I don't see anything that she's been doing um aside from those fucking migraine commercials which make me so mad because i'm like okay cool cool cool cool yeah just perform with covid and then cash your massive check about your migraine
Starting point is 00:30:41 sponsorship of your chronic health like it's just fucked and like it's not the same one that uh khloe kardashian does commercials for no i think it's a i think it's a different one um it might be the same though but uh almost similar like similarly closely as wild uh halsey recently came out that she uh has lupus she deals with like endometriosis like she's got a lot of like chronic health stuff and has been like really sick for a couple years and um got finally diagnosed with lupus i think maybe another autoimmune thing or maybe it was just lupus and then also cancer and guess who is going on tour performing maskless to a maskless audience that i'm like what the fuck like i just think it's crazy to like reveal a very serious diagnosis and this
Starting point is 00:31:38 long chronic health condition that you've been dealing with and all of the ailments you've had like hasn't been able to record music like it's really affected her and like she's a new mom and all of this and then simultaneously do that with announcing this tour that i was like what huh late-stage capitalism's fucking crazy like i'm i'm all okay with making money and profiting off of like your health struggles or whatever and like to sharing your story like that um but then having to then be like well now you have to tour it it's crazy to me yeah so it doesn't make any recent nope at all and they are for the same company oh okay that's it for this one what is this picture though what does she have on so that's Melissa that's what she's wearing in the
Starting point is 00:32:26 interview when she says it okay um that's her exact smile she's like yeah uh-huh I get I didn't I guess I didn't even notice because I listened to the interview and I guess I wasn't even paying attention to what she was looking like or maybe I'm just used to her being in things and then seen it isolated yeah i'd have to say i'm i'm i like have historically like very much loved her and now i'm i really have to really pissed her so i will say chapel ron is doing these looks so much better than her right now and i'm not even sorry all right and then my wrong of the week was sheriff chad bianco you just said share i said i missed that i uploaded the wrong man this is chad share if yep 98 said that chad is wrong two percent said chad is not wrong
Starting point is 00:33:17 interesting someone said can there be can there ever be a man named chad who is not wrong i will give one do you have one because i one okay only one and it's my cousin chad who is a very nice boy well cousin chad is different than chad when you have like a a like a familial term of endearment in front of it to me like that oh i never call him cousin chad i just call him chad to my ears my cousin to my ears cousin chad is a different name it's like sarah michelle geller and then like sarah mclaughlin like those are two different people because one of them is a double you know i mean do you get what i'm saying when someone has a name that's like a firsty lasty when you have like a cut you put something in front of it like
Starting point is 00:34:05 cousin something or like sister something auntie something to me it doesn't have this like i don't get the same reaction i didn't understand the sarah mclaughlin was i picked a sarah and i don't know that many sarahs okay and there's a lot of sarah's things but i just said that because like when i think of sarah mclaughlin i'm immediately thinking arms of an angel an angel yeah what's another one like there's me and then there's megan mccain those are very different people yeah that make that that makes sense i'm megan she's megan mccain yeah and then there's other megan megan markle megan mccain is not me megan or my other megan yes you're saying to me that's a cousin chad but if you take away cousin you just say this is chad and you don't tell me he's cousin
Starting point is 00:34:48 chad i go uh-oh yeah because i have three chads i know all bad actually one of them is not technically a chad but for all intents and purposes he is a chad chad is short for his full name no chad is part of his name okay but it's pronounced chad okay you we can cut this out but remember my neighbor i always thought his name was to chad because it's capital t and then chad but it's just chad okay so i i don't know but in my stocking i've never seen it short for anything okay so it's still the to me i'm like i didn't know if it was like chadwick no no no okay no no because chadwick is not a chad no he i don't think chadwick bozeman ever went by chad no criminal and if he did it would be this is this is cousin chad no they would say
Starting point is 00:35:52 this is Cousin Chad meet your Cousin Chad and I would say nice to meet you Cousin Chad we'll sort of rumor that that's actually your Cousin Chad which goes with
Starting point is 00:36:02 Cousin Beyonce so that is it for our Fisting Friday we hope you all enjoyed goodbye goodbye
