Starting point is 00:01:42 which is so frustrating of me um is the reason why there have no charges been pressed is that man is a cop yeah so uh i knew that it was in my notes i just forgot to say it and i literally like i think it was like right after we recorded it popped up my for you page and it was like why he's not getting arrested because he's a cop and i was like fuck i forgot to say that so just know everybody that i did oh sorry i'm trying to get to a comfortable position where close enough to my i love how you're wearing a button-down shirt yeah but it's like not even all the way button like it's like yep no it's not melissa has one button i'm saying full belly button full belly that's how i like to wear them though i honestly uh opened my closet i was like
Starting point is 00:02:32 i haven't worn this shirt in a while i literally pulled like two little button downs if i got cold to throw on and we can be business professionals together thank you anyways we are going to read the results of last week's episode and your thoughts and feelings sorry i will make a new one there's so much tapping to get up right there this one i'm sorry okay this is who is wrong for episode 106 first up is me Megan thinks catch and release fishing is inhumane six percent said I was wrong 94 percent said I was not wrong and I don't want to jinx it but I'm pretty sure no one who said that I was wrong wrote it and explained why I would really love to know um but someone said okay so I have a lot of thoughts on this I'm vegan but I actually think fishing for food is a lot
Starting point is 00:03:24 better than buying unsustainably fished fished fish from the store as a large majority of people do taking your kids is fine good even teaching them where food comes from fishing for sport disgusting it's literally nurturing fish for fun taking your kids fishing teaches them that it's okay to hurt beings that are smaller and or different from us because we can they they can feel things sure they're not conscious quote-unquote in the sense that they contemplate life in their own identity and existence but they feel fear and pain as far as we know see that's what i like i'm some you and i are both the people who are kind to our electronics because we do know that michael bay's fantastic best movies ever made transformers is really a premonition for
Starting point is 00:04:04 the future so like i think it's crazy that there are people who are like there are people who would take bullets for their dogs but will literally hook a fish for fun yeah like that's crazy to me someone else said i recently went on camping trip with my job and was out in the middle of hot ass texas with over 500 middle schoolers one of the free time activities they could do is fishing seeing a bunch of inexperienced and unsupervised 12 and 13 year olds catch fish get the hook horribly caught in their mouths and then chucked them into the lake was one of the most inhumane things i've ever witnessed and while i was shocked that it was an activity but it was even more shocked that these dumb ass fish kept falling that's the that's the other part that it's like
Starting point is 00:04:40 you're baiting them with food like um someone else said i hadn't thought too hard about it and then my friend finally caught a fish last weekend and felt bad about it and then you brought this up and now i don't think i'll ever be fishing again if you're gonna fish to eat cool but if you're just fishing the fish why yeah like and specifically like the way that it's branded of being like i'm not a monster i'm not eating i'm not i'm not a monster i'm not killing them i'm just torturing like i think that's crazy because how many humans do you know who's like would you rather be killed or tortured indefinitely you know like let's think about it but that's it for mine someone like someone who like work i don't know what la guy or whatever like some douche was trying to
Starting point is 00:05:28 and mott's just telling me about this i was like how did i miss this he was trying to install and like get taxpayers to pay for like a gondola like that would go across la which by the way we don't have the structure you'd have to build a structure for for it's not like we're restoring an old gondola like no no and it would be like essentially to help with um dodger game traffic like it would it would start at like union station and end at like dodger stadium and people like and they tried to like fast track it um to uh essentially skip all of the approvals of like taxpayers and stuff and like people who like live in the neighborhood like found out and they're like you mean you're trying to build a gondola above my house and they were going to do that thing
Starting point is 00:06:08 where the government uh just like seizes your home because they need to and they like pay less than market value for it for i forget what that's called but i saw someone on tiktok who that happened to them in boston um and uh then fine like they were like no you have to like let people air their grievances in like a town hall about that and they didn't say specifically say that they had to do it um they had to listen to them so they put them in the town hall under like a blank like in in like they built like a little like voting booth style thing with like heavy curtains and they said you can like say anything you want to say in there and like no one could here than whatever but then you know activists uh found out about all this and like stormed the
Starting point is 00:06:45 meeting and like you know got shit together and i was like i wonder if kenneth nieho was like hey guys someone's trying to build a gondola i need bodies in here stat right because i'm like he's the one doing like money stuff like but like and this is gonna cost like billions of dollars and i was like my man can't but he would he'd say hard pass on my good community of los angeles that we're paying for a gondola and i'm like i would love that man to spend a week in tahoe to see how often that gondola breaks like gondolas are not and i'm like does this man think like fucking gone but also i'm like does this man think that like well you know they solved the solution to uh public transportation in san francisco they all take the trolley to work
Starting point is 00:07:27 i'm like do you think like a tourist essential that's like zip lining like this is a tourist attraction like you can't use this as like an everyday thing right insane wild oh when he wanted it for the olympics that was the whole point no yep did you see speaking of the olympics did you see the mayor of paris went for a little dip yeah god rest his soul her oh god sorry i assumed it was a man because he's dumb yeah god rest her soul yeah fly high i think she made like her whole office get in oh she said if i'm dying you bitches are coming down with me yeah they look like they were having a good old time i was like great acting yeah that's great not a but i saw the president didn't get in like he said he was going to
Starting point is 00:08:16 no of course not okay that's it for mine all right then i said melissa says hosting is letting people into your home and they need to follow your rules fucking rules to be exact uh who was wrong. 1% said I was wrong. 99% said I was not wrong. Someone said definitely not wrong at all. Any social space has rules. And if you don't follow them, you're not welcome. For me personally, anytime I go to someone's home, I make sure I follow every preference that they have to a T because I'm not an inconsiderate asshole. Great. Love it. Starting point is 00:10:20 someone else said as a canadian if someone wore shoes into my house they would be the rude one which i feel like the majority of people that i know it's a no shoes place yeah i don't know anybody who's like that and like it's also just my instinct to take my shoes off if i'm going to hang out with a friend like there's no way i'm wearing like a shoe outfit unless i'm meeting that friend at their home and then we're going somewhere else and then i still take my shoes off i'm like so confused by it me too someone else said they are guests they gotta follow the rules everyone should have the no shoe shoe rule otherwise heathens will come in your house and put their shoes i'm putting capitalization in my
Starting point is 00:11:14 voice because they put it in their text on your couch like monsters too many feelings about this sorry don't apologize especially to me um and someone else said wait we had this chat in the group chat i'm pretty sure we all agreed your house is your rules join our patrons you can be friends with everybody you can join their group chat they won't let us in it's like super rude but oh i didn't even know what group chat you're talking about there's a group chat yeah there's a we're not in it i know so mean so rude someone else said sweden is one of the cultures that megan mentions we always take our shoes off when we enter a home we even have shoe free schools where you take off your shoes when you get inside and wear slippers or socks the whole day
Starting point is 00:12:02 it's literally a thing where sometimes when we aren't staying long at someone's house people say don't worry about taking your shoes off i'm going to vacuum later and we go are you sure it's no bother um and when i thought about this i was like actually at one of the schools that i went to as a child we did have this and i don't remember what school it was but i remember having these very 80s not 80s 90s very 90s trying to age myself back in the 60s these very 90s uh like the kind where it kind of looked like honestly at the top it kind of looked like a vagina it was like fat um what are we talking about slippers okay there you go thank you you missed that crucial piece of information okay there were like fat plush
Starting point is 00:12:59 fill slippers that you would like stick your feet in yeah your foot goes in the slit yeah i know exactly what you mean little boobies yeah yeah yeah i know that we didn't have the we just like took our shoes off like because i remember like you would be getting ready to like go play outside like for recess or whatever and um like there was like the age where you flip from having velcro shoes to tying shoes and so like there was like this like this struggle of being like do i want to be one of the cool kids who ties their shoes but also like i'm missing out on playground time because i have to fucking put these bad bitches back on and also i was i was i was kind of late to the tying my um shoe game and to this day you can only do the bunny ears because that's fine
Starting point is 00:13:44 melanie as well well we have that in common yep um i want to know what happened to i haven't seen them i've never seen them like on any of my nieces and nephews so i don't think they exist anymore but there was like these little they're like i remember i had like some ninja turtle ones and some other characters. But it would be like these little plastic things that they would have holes on the sides and you would put your shoe laces through the sides of them
Starting point is 00:14:24 and then tie it up and then clamp it under there and then you could just unclamp it to take your shoes off. It was like the in-between between... I've never seen those. They were kind of like training wheels for tying your shoes. um yeah this all this is unlocking memories for me what were those things no yeah i have to look them up and then like post it in the nostalgia subreddit that i'm in and see what people are saying i want some that'd be pretty cool like how people go hard for the little things they put in
Starting point is 00:14:58 their crocs gibbets gibbets yeah i feel like it would people would love them no without a doubt give me a little character on there throw bluey on there kids would freak paw patrol uh and then the same person also said i'm autistic and have ocpd and these kinds of things give me extreme anxiety and is a big reason why i don't invite people over except certain friends and family members into my home i have weird rules and people have to follow And I would say don't let that stop you, because Alison Raskin has a list of things that are it's framed at her door when you walk in of rules that you have to follow when you come into her home. And if they're your actual friends and they'll respect the rules. I love when people give me rules like that.
Starting point is 00:15:50 Like for me, that's great. Don't leave me guessing whatsoever. Like, I love to know what the rules are. and if someone doesn't give me rules i go there's an unwritten set of rules here and now it is my job to figure out what that is like that's a lot i would always rather i'm like tell me what you want like i i don't give a shit what i do what you do i want to do what works for for for you but like there is no like um the pleasantries or like keeping up appearances i'm like just tell me what works for you and i'll do it no judgment exactly it's easier that way
Starting point is 00:16:25 and someone else said i despise people who don't use my coasters especially up there after they've visited multiple times there's enough to go around rules are rules baby i quite literally just anytime someone's over i literally like will walk to where they have their drink lift their drink up and put a coaster on it and i won't even say anything like i don't i'm just if you're not gonna i'll fix it for you exactly at Desjardins insurance we know that when you own a nail salon everything needs to be perfect from tip to toe that's why our agents go the extra mile to understand your business and provide tailored solutions for all its unique needs you put your heart into your company so we

Starting point is 00:18:22 Then we have writer number one. Would she be wrong if she didn't go to her pseudo friend's party? 2% said the writer is wrong. 98% said the writer is not wrong. I don't think anyone wrote in for this one that I saw. All right. And then we've got writer number two. Is it wrong to deprive your kids by not celebrating 4th of July. 7% said the writer's wrong. 93% said the writer is not wrong. Someone said definitely not wrong at all. Just like Eminem said, there's always space in, there's always space to participate in the fun activities that kids can enjoy while making sure they're aware of the context of the day and know the true history personally when and if i have kids will go ham on juneteenth the real day of freedom
Starting point is 00:19:11 but if my kids like fireworks someone else will have to take them because personally fireworks stress me out i came across a video of a girl that was at um i think she was a cheerleader that's the one i told you about oh okay that was her pov she was the cheerleader who got hit got it okay i saw the actual video of her aftermath and that was scary terrifying and she just like got back in line and i'm like i'm done for the day the grip of capitalism like but it's not even capitalism but it's just like this like sportsmanship thing or i'm like maybe you just got hit with a firework you don't need to get back in line this isn't war no get off the front lines even if it was war they wouldn't put you back on
Starting point is 00:20:05 let's say you gotta go get checked out by the medic and stay down if i'm getting shot i'm like yeah i'm out for the count like if it's like laser tag i'm out now sorry i'm gonna go sit on the bench any pizza like take me out coach and don't put me back in then we have my wrong of the week I nominated Michaela Skinner two percent said Michaela is not wrong 98 said Michaela is wrong it's crazy how some people can be so loud jealous and wrong at the same time once I saw an actual video of her performing I automatically cackled yeah I I would just encourage anybody to like in one in one window have her statements and what she said about other people's talents at gymnastics and then in the
Starting point is 00:20:50 other window watch videos of her doing gymnastics like it's like the cognitive dissonance is fucking crazy like this girl has never in her life kept her ankles together when she slept like she's never done any of this stuff and she's like you bitches and i'm like ma'am you can't even do what they're doing and she's it she literally gives the energy of like the fucking like uh random straight guys who go i could beat serena williams left-handed and it's like no you couldn't and that's how she is within her own sport she's like these fucking bitches are so bad and everyone's like mckayla we we've seen you do you can't do any of this and she's like i could if i wanted to but i don't want to and i'm like then why you're in snake girl
Starting point is 00:21:37 any other no just that one okay and my wrong of the week was the dutch national olympic committee international volleyball federation and steven vandevelde 99 said steven's wrong one percent said steven is not wrong someone said this is extra shocking and upsetting given it's a team sport and the selection criteria is probably largely discretionary also disappointing that the ioc will never take a stand which is the same with the russians and doping what is the point of them if they always just defer to the individual country sport good point i don't know if you saw the update he will be housed by himself because people are not comfortable being near him so now he gets also luxury accommodations and more expensive accommodations so we're putting more
Starting point is 00:22:39 money actually into the rapist and the rest of the team cool cool cool cool cool well that is it for the results we hope y'all enjoyed i hope that was safe out there good for you those simultaneously being two phrases saying i hope that was good for you and stay safe out there it's crazy like yes that's that's crazy so um yeah we will fist you later buh-bye oh join us on monday for don't blame me tuesday for see you next tuesday and thursday for but am i wrong and then we'll be right back here on friday to get back at it buddy okay bye Thank you.
