Starting point is 00:01:06 Firsting? Firsting Friday. Firsting Friday. Firsta, firsta, firsta. Sorry, I stumbled. And by stumbled, I meant I dropped my phone. I was going to say, you are seated. So where are you stumbling to?
Starting point is 00:01:20 Also, I could stumble if I was seated. Don't try me. I'm so clumsy. I could do it. I could. There's nothing I couldn't achieve in that way. so uh this is the podcast where we read the results of last week's episode last week's episode is in this case with an asterisk i think this is the last one until we're caught up right yeah
Starting point is 00:01:42 we're caught up now this is we're caught up now yes okay this is the caught up one wow next week will be yeah next week will be back to the scheduled program perfection so yeah this is for episode 98 and um let's hop into it all right so melissa says hiding behind disney doesn't make you less racist one percent said i was wrong 99 and i was not wrong smart smart good voting everybody someone said disney adults are truly just as bad as swifties i don't disagree with that and if you find personal offense to that and you're like oh my god megan you're a taylor a fan you love disney there are different things there so like disney adults there's disney adults parentheses positive and there's disney adults parentheses derogatory the same thing with
Starting point is 00:02:34 swifties and when you get to the the part of the graph where both of those are the negative kind yeah birds of a feather um and you also don't identify as a swifty i only identify as a at certain parts of the year i don't know if any time of this year so far i've identified as a swifty um because as a whole and a collective i do not align with a lot of that uh ethos which is not behind taylor swift it's about the specific people who who are so obsessed with her that they somehow think that um in order to prove that they have to be like really racist and like really mean um so yeah you know okay then we have mine which it makes me mad just looking at it again and i want everyone to know i edited the little purple on here i thought that
Starting point is 00:03:37 was pretty yeah it's a little razzle dazzle i like it thank you and it says megan thanks street lights the new headlights seven percent said i was wrong 93 said i was not wrong someone said those things make my astigmatism go crazy which is a very common like response that we got someone else said this is the only time i'm glad the that oklahoma oh my god they live in oklahoma why did i never put that together that oklahoma is late to the game because the combo of having an astigmatism and i don't know how to pronounce it odd hd which is autism slash adhd the combination would make me an assassin if i had to drive with these which yeah i fully can can confirm that the last time i went to fort worth i saw these and it was so hard for me and my mistake
Starting point is 00:04:20 and my astigmatism to make it to my destination alive i hate them so much my dad switched a few light bulbs to that cold led he got them from free for free from work and my mom hated it so much she made him put the old ones back in yeah i'm with your mom they're so bad and i will say though i've noticed like because i said in that episode that um i had written this down before i even noticed that we got one and like it was on our street but then there's one right by our place and um driving home the last couple of weeks i've noticed that ours the one right by us is not nearly as halloweeny purple as our neighbors which i'm like thank god but i don't know how long that'll last like it's just gonna burn out and turn into this
Starting point is 00:05:04 like spooky halloween barney aesthetic i hate it like i fucking hate it and then we got writer number one versus co-worker cruella who was difficult to work with two percent said the writer's wrong 98 said the writer is not wrong then we have writer number two versus friend who wants a high value man 10 to the writer is wrong 90 to the friend is wrong okay who the fuck are you 15 people who said that they're wrong like i genuinely wellness check like wellness check on all of you i like i would give some leeway because this episode happened so long ago that i think people probably forgot what they were voting for but then it's like explain yourself or just don't vote there's two people who i saw who said that they voted wrong i'm looking at some of your
Starting point is 00:05:57 profiles and i if you truly believe this i have questions you know yeah like explain to me how the man in your pictures with you is a high value man but if that's like if that's if it's not a misclick i i got nothing for you one of these has to be wrong someone one of the bios is lesbian that has that has to be a misclick oh my god yeah i'm i'm choosing to believe that these were mostly misclicks i read that last one but i'll read my wrong of the week yeah it's just switched because mine was a little dark oh yeah yeah yeah um and my wrong of the week is disney's disability program 96 said disney's wrong 4 said disney is not wrong someone said when is disney ever not wrong though you know disney is
Starting point is 00:06:54 always wrong disney is so wrong this change is so incredibly disheartening i could be considered a light Disney adult, L-I-T-E. But despite that, I have zero plans to visit U.S. Disney parks soon because of the change in the drastic price increases. I don't speak for all disabled folks, but I used to be able to receive some solid accommodations at Disney. It was one of the few places where I could still access almost everything in a way that worked for me and my body. I hope there are further changes to the policy so I can visit again in the future. They wanted people to stop abusing DAS, which is the Disney Accessibility Service, but there are so many ways to stop that
Starting point is 00:07:29 but honestly taking away accessibility in favor of trying to prevent a few bad apples hurts disabled people way more than it affects those performing badly also I wonder what could have happened to make so many people sign up for Disney's DAS in the last few years could have been the mass disabling event we've been dealing with in a global pandemic
Starting point is 00:07:45 I have used DAS for years due to my pot symptoms what does Megan have now because of long COVID fucking pots be passionate about this one also a fellow U of A girly here Melissa go hogs you call it U of A yeah oh we actually are arizona u of a too i guess like alabama is probably you damn that's confusing alabama is just alabama oh because we're in the same conference so they're just alabama
Starting point is 00:08:11 okay um yeah i have such strong feelings about this too and like the way i would compare it for like anyone who's like doesn't totally understand if you have like food allergies like it could be a nut allergy dairy gluten or whatever disney's one of the greatest places to go for food allergies and it would be if they suddenly were like we're not going to do that anymore because too many people are saying that they're gluten-free and they're actually not and so we're just going to get rid of it as uh as a whole and like you can't prove to us that you have celiac or whatever you're gluten intolerant um we're just going to take it away because some people are abusing it and it's just like what the fuck is the point of that you know like it's just it's like why like at the end
Starting point is 00:08:53 of the day why what even if there are a few people that are using it to their advantage those few people shouldn't hurt the majority no not at all and also like the the harm that it causes is so much greater to a group of people who already are getting screwed over over and over and over again and so it's like that's such a it's such a high risk to run to decide to be like we're actually going to be like anti anti this uh disabled because the consequences of that it's like cool now you're ableist and people fucking hate you like that versus a couple people abusing said system but also if you can't prove that those people are abusing the system and you're like well they're slipping through the cracks it can't be that major if you can't pinpoint it in the moment
Starting point is 00:09:44 you know what I mean like it can't be affecting it so badly so I think it's a mistake and I hopefully that they rectify that all right and the next one is uh Kedria Grisby and her son Roger McGee 98% said
Starting point is 00:10:00 they're wrong 2% said they're not wrong that one was like so just pulling up the pictures and every article title disgusting so fucking disgusting they're gross and I hope they burn in hell me too shall we discuss what you suggested we discuss i strongly believe that we shall discuss
Starting point is 00:10:21 it and what is that challengers the movie not the car which yeah not the dodge challenger we have to make sure we put the s on there facts facts facts because that was an important plot point oh true it did i tell you that like it took me until like the very last scene to realize why was called that oh and then i saw it like in the background they're like oh this is the whatever challenge and i was like oh did you not see where she adds it what do you mean so there's a mock-up of that ad when and she's going through and it just said challenger and then she writes s on it in red oh no so that i clocked but then when they're playing the turn the what it's not tournament it's like oh it's a challenge or it's that and then i was like oh that's also it's yes
Starting point is 00:11:14 oh okay it was a through line that i like i wasn't wondering like why is it called this but i was just like whoa two like multiple meanings and references which i just thought was so good so what did you think incredible i will 100 see this movie again in theaters yep i will probably go see it again on tuesday i thought it was incredible i thought the writing was incredible this is zendaya at her best acting the boys were so delightful she is such a boss ass bitch and one of the things that gave me an ick about this film before i saw it just from the small bit of trailer that we got was that scene where they're sitting on the bed and then we just see that bird's eye view of her yeah and it looks very predatorial in the trailer but when we're in the actual film
Starting point is 00:12:10 i said good god this is fucking brilliant she's a little fucking puppet master yes yes it really sets the tone for the rest of the film i don't i you know i won't give any true spoilers but i thought the acting was great the editing was great the directing was great the cinematography was great the uh film score was magnificent um just keeps putting it on in the morning and i'm like this is a little intense just to get ready like i like my adrenaline is pumping he's like it just like yes gets me ready to go and i was like okay it was it was a work of art like like i was like in the same way where you're like this is a movie that feels like a movie i went cinema is back i literally i said that to months afterwards i going god sin we are in an era of
Starting point is 00:13:06 cinema like welcome back to movies welcome back to hollywood baby i literally was ready to start like smoking a cigarette being like it's hollywood baby like it was so it like it like wound me up in like the best way me too me too like i could i could i could sit and watch that movie all day long me too like i think it's i think it's going to be one of my favorite movies of all time forever like me too because it's every aspect of it is perfect like there's nothing i would change and very rarely i find do you have a movie with such gorgeous cinematography that's not making up for something else that's lacking yes everything is just working it's like this was truly a group effort where there was no ego for a certain department everything just worked i mean
Starting point is 00:14:03 wardrobe work makeup work hair and makeup work like everything on lighting like everything just felt like it just felt so cohesive and it wasn't like one department was i'm not saying that like in other films like one department is trying to outshine another it's just that everyone had the same vision yeah like we've I think we probably said on the podcast before but like every director comes from like a different background so like they come from acting they come from lighting they come from sound they come from money um and those ones last one usually not so good but like depending on what department they will and if you come from like editing background like a lot of directors will just be like oh i'll just fix that and post but
Starting point is 00:14:49 this was one of those things that i was like oh like you said they're all on the same page that it's like it's almost as if i could have imagined this being shot in in film like they were all so rehearsed they knew exactly what they were doing and everything was like so intentional that shot where the the the parallels of how they filmed it like to me i'm like this have been a great book like it was it was done so well that you're like oh this feels like a real story and a page turner and like that's the same page turner is like the equivalent of being on the edge of your seat right and uh the part where they see her playing tennis and their eyes both kind of like get like linger in a way that's like they're getting stuck to her and they go back to the
Starting point is 00:15:33 person then they snap back to her and then when she's doing that watching them yes but hers is not in a way that it's like i'm so entranced by you it's like do my fucking work exactly it's in a way of being like you need to know that my eyes are on you not because i'm trying to hit on you is because i want you to feel the wrath of my corneas yes and it was just like it was just so so good hear that it's your money calling it wants a promotion elevate your savings with the scotia high interest savings account always earn high regular interest rates that grow the more you save and invest conditions apply visit scotiabank.com slash hisa to learn more scotia bank you're richer than you think i i have to know who do you who's like your number one like
Starting point is 00:16:28 the hero and who do you think is like the true villain they're all the villain all three of them the villain i don't have like one thing i think they're all they all want the same thing and it is for tashi to be the best but they all want it in different ways like tashi wants to be the best tennis player there ever was her dream gets broken and so then she has to create the best tennis player that ever was um patrick that's the brown boy right yeah yeah he wants her to also be the best in his life like wants all that for himself but he can't quite get there because he doesn't want that he doesn't want greatness for himself as a whole but he just wants her to be the epitome of that and then art art he also wants the same things but in a different way
Starting point is 00:17:34 like he wants her as like for himself and not to share her with the world and they're all messy they're all three of them are messy art might be the messiest bitch of them all that's my pick but uh because he really set the whole thing in motion because he's a fucking liar art set the house on fire and then went oh my god it's burning uh-huh let me go in with my water hose and save it yeah and then was like oh my god this is so sad let me help clean up all of these pieces i feel so bad for you it was so bad i think that guy let your house on fire oh my god and just like the playing the innocent kind the thing afterward of like oh i'm the doting husband no they're all three messy bitches and
Starting point is 00:18:22 i know that i know that the where the movie cuts but i know that they all three went back back and fucked it after at the end because they all got what they finally wanted yeah i'm like a tashi duncan apologist i'm like i don't think she did anything wrong i don't think she did anything wrong this to me is like the epitome of two men who want this who want this woman because they want to like absorb her like they want to absorb the skill the talent the confidence whatever things that she has that they don't have they want to like absorb that and then make her be who they want for their life as like a co-pilot or whatever that is and then when that doesn't work they're like absolutely just baffled and shocked and i'm like oh you couldn't change
Starting point is 00:19:13 the woman who you specifically liked because of x y and z traits like oh that's so crazy but like i just i thought she was so phenomenal in it i also thought darnell was great in it i was like why do i know this face and i was like the entire time i'm like why do god and then for a second i was like not an act and that's not why i know i don't know them from acting and for a bit i was like are they on et like i was like are they like correspondence work and i couldn't fucking figure it out and then in the car the first thing i looked up i was like darn now what are you doing here right that's crazy he looked too pretty to be in that part and i was like i know who that is and i leaned over to avian i go that doesn't do his assistant and then i saw that
Starting point is 00:19:56 they had he was just on set with her and the director asked if he would do it i was like i guess i don't think never said what happened to the person that should have been playing unless i think it was probably during rehearsals and like training i don't think it would have been like i think it would have been the way they said it it seemed like it was they were like on set but yeah i would have to assume it's pre-pro yeah and so and he was like it's up to zendaya and she was like yeah so imagine and he was in a lot like a lot of that film no he he opens the film yes it opens on him the first line yes like yeah he it wasn't just like a quick no no he's got a wide shot then we got a close-up and then we're like we're set lines we even hear
Starting point is 00:20:48 lines when he's just talking yep like not even we don't even see his face we get reaction shots we get subtle eye contact we get like different iqs and i'm just like my god star like yes and he he was great and it was a point where like i it didn't even cross my mind that that could be him because i was like this is someone who is already i was like this has this is like a stunt casting and like this is someone who's already famous um for something for being beautiful because i was like you're not actor beautiful like you must be it's like a like that he just has that glow that glow yes yeah and i don't mean that in a i'm not comparing them whatsoever but mario lopez is someone who's met Mario Lopez he has this like way that I go that you're you are your skin is
Starting point is 00:21:33 just so yes there's not a pore there's not a wrinkle there's nothing um but I just like I also loved like the incorporation of like using text on screen which we don't do in movies nearly as much and people rely on it as like a show as a tell not show kind of thing but like they didn't do that at all I love when we just get like random flaccid dicks in a movie because like we get so many just titties bouncing i'm no no tit none except for like a little sheer of zendaya's bra but other than that we have no female female nudity here no and i was like but we see a lot of dicks good and great that's what i like that's what i fucking want to see um i just i i i thought that like the way that like from the photos too of it's like i knew that obviously knew that like
Starting point is 00:22:22 she could act and like I'm always impressed by what she does um the playing the mean role I was like I love that for her because it's like so not what her professional brand kind of is and but as someone who has watched pretty much every interview she's ever done forever I was like no this is gonna be perfect and so fitting because like her reaction faces to things all the time like she constantly looks unimpressed until she smiles everyone's like oh she doesn't hate me okay my bad um but the guys i was so impressed with because just from seeing the initial photos i was like i don't totally like see this mostly because they only really showed them in like the younger versions yeah and the way that like from photos i was like why are you
Starting point is 00:23:06 having trouble picking between these two men and then as soon as they're acting i was like i understand i understand they both have very much british face even though i don't know only one of them is they both have british face but like they're derogatory not derogatory but they really turn it on on that screen and i said okay remarkable like it was just remarkable and i yeah i it is a movie that feels like a real movie and i want to know what harry styles thinks this movie because if he saw don't worry darling and was like this is a move i want to i'm like harry what did you think of this yeah he's creaming in his pants even the um lady that is checking patrick in oh my god great she was phenomenal and then i also like how she like
Starting point is 00:23:52 mentions i was at the junior tournament and then when we get the flashback of her running in the street or in the park and i was just like this is just the way that everything is just so tied together so tight like it's just all so smart yeah it's it's such a well-written script and a good yeah like we said like it's a firing off on all cylinders in a way that like it's it's so it's so remarkable to not have a single weak spot in it where it's like everybody's working it's all done perfectly and them sharing clothes like there's so much like dive into after you see the movie too which like is my as someone who loves doing that like that's my favorite thing where i can like then look and be like oh so the i told the shirt that's like is it i told you i
Starting point is 00:24:40 told you yeah yeah i told you yeah that's like it was originally on um one of the kennedys or something like that and so like that was the inspiration behind it and so like there's always all of this stuff behind it or art being uh i think he was wearing like unique low for a lot of it there's a there's another like uh tennis player i think it's federer maybe but might be wrong that that's what he hit what his partner who his partnership and sponsor was and about say unique low drop the ball because i immediately went to their website to like look to see if they had any tennis clothes they don't have anything i know where's the collab like that would have been so fucking good and even just like how the behind the scenes of like the fact that this was
Starting point is 00:25:30 so exciting because this is what tennis is like they're obviously not playing real tennis but like this is what tennis is like and it might have been roger federer or another inspired by well someone in his wife and like how she was so good and then she like you know really was like behind him and the writer was watching um an open and she was like looking so stressed out and he was like why like you have so much you have more money than you could ever spend like he's like the best like he doesn't play a good match like okay like whatever you he doesn't win this one like what is that he was like just it couldn't be just be about the money like based on her face like she was just so like distraught and like stressed and he was like it's not it's this is
Starting point is 00:26:11 not make or break anything like you've already won the career wise and he's like saw like oh that she was the best of the best she got injured now she's like living through him and he was like oh she's got the same face on that he does because she's playing out there but in her head and i was like that's so cool and like that there's like apparently a huge thing of like a lot of young tennis players are close friends and then the higher they rank and like the longer that they're in this like they like fall out and they become enemies because they're pitted against each other and all of that it's like my entire tiktok has just been like real life tennis drama and like all that i've been i was skipping all of the stuff before i saw the film because i was like
Starting point is 00:26:53 i don't want anything spoiled to me at all but now it's all my feed is all that stuff but i did look it up it is roger fetter's wife mirka that was an inspiration for it so yeah and like it's just i just thought it was like so good and i thought that like zendaya like talked about like her production uh like being produced like things that she added in and so i guess they originally had had her and art had a nanny and she was like there's no way Tashi would have anyone who's not family watch her kid like that's just part of her backstory is that like she's doesn't come from this rich family she's like her family's there for everything they're very hyper present in her whole career and she was like she wouldn't I know she's like culturally she's not hiring a fucking
Starting point is 00:27:35 nanny that makes no sense and so they were like in like director afterwards like that's like the one of my favorite parts is that like that's you know and like because the idea of like from the outside these men want to talk about how she's like so cold and she's not but like she's not those relationships aren't transactional like that's just like pure love when these guys they're pretending that they just love her nothing attached they think they do and she's like no there's fucking strings attached to that so i'm gonna treat you i'm gonna pull those strings like the puppet master i am like yeah get it together like oh i want to i literally as soon as we got home. Mom's was like, I could watch it tomorrow. Like I could go back to the theater and watch it
Starting point is 00:28:13 again. Hear that? It's your money calling. It wants a promotion. Elevate your savings with the Scotia High Interest Savings Account. Visit scotiabank.com slash H-I-S-A to learn more. scotiabank you're richer than you think so good so i like just this is my perfect cinema and i everyone needs to see it i texted kyle and i was like have you seen it yet and he was like the way that every fucking theater is like booked up yeah i need to get out of town yeah it was booked on a tuesday and i was just like jeez but yeah i i'm going to watch it again if i have time next tuesday um i will see it again
Starting point is 00:29:09 plus i think i'll see the fall what is it the fall guy i think we might do that uh saturday yeah so which i hear is great too but it looks good i will i i i just like like i feel it i don't know i know like you like i just feel it in my bones it imprinted on me similarly to jacob like this movie imprinted on me and i'm never gonna be the same like it's my life is before i've seen this movie after i've seen this movie everybody needs to fucking watch this film and i'm so excited to see what this what other doors this opens for like all of them and like i know that um art what's his name mike mike fleiss no that's a producer it's mike something with an f though um he's like a broadway kid and i've seen videos of him with long hair singing his heart out
Starting point is 00:30:07 and i was like you are an actor well watching some of the interviews the whole like kismet of everything that what it like so fell into place in like the universe working it's magic so like Zendaya so he was in um Dear Evan Hansen and Zendaya saw him in Dear Evan Hansen and was like he's fucking amazing like he's great and then um the guy who plays Josh O'Connor no he doesn't play Josh O'Connor Josh O'Connor is his name he during like the pandemic got a script to read for a movie that he was like this is one of the best movies ever it was so good he put himself on tape and he was like there's just like no way that i'm like gonna book this didn't hear anything about it but then the maybe it was right before the pandemic happened and that was past lives and then the
Starting point is 00:31:00 pandemic happened and he was like so he just kept thinking about this movie and like didn't hear anything about it like he knew that he didn't book it but like he didn't hear anything about production and then was like it's a first time writer like this is like just knew that like there I don't think that there's gonna it might not even have a studio attached at the point being like I don't know that they're gonna be able to happen so he sent an email to his agents being like could you send this to like her or to casting and asked if they could send it to her to just be like I really like this was the best thing I've ever read for I am just like thinking of you during the pandemic and like I know that like arts have been on a hold and like I really hope that you're
Starting point is 00:31:36 still able to make your movie and even if you're not at this time like please don't give up on this film like this is like one of the most beautiful things i've ever written and like i know it's going to be amazing and then when they're starting i think it was starting production or starting training or whatever he was asking um uh the writer of challengers about like oh like so like what do you like you know what have you what's your life story he was like oh he's like yeah my wife actually she's just she just rapped um on her first film and he was like oh really it's so amazing like what's it about and he starts talking saying what it's about and he's like wait that sounds so familiar pulls up his email realizes that his wife is who wrote past
Starting point is 00:32:13 lives and they just finished production on it and i was like and they have all these stories about all of these like kismet things of seeing someone or meeting someone or whatever that it feels like it really did all fall into place in that way which i just think is so impressive and what an impressive um couple yeah celine song is her name um yeah they power couple all the way crazy power couple and like you they critically acclaimed for like first big features like that's so crazy so yeah i love it and um i want to say josh o'connor's in a new uh i don't know if they're in pre-production or whatever but in um he's attached to like luca's new film and so i'm loving that i want nothing but the best for everybody involved with this film great job
Starting point is 00:33:10 filmmakers i know that all of y'all are are watching y'all are listening y'all did a phenomenal job yeah and we're available what do you need us to do yeah we are around um and part of the reason why i think obviously the director is great because he's done like critically acclaimed shit um but he's also directed um fashion video campaigns which is like where the beauty of those kinds of things come in and like not having as much time to tell a story and like all of that kind of stuff where i'm like oh this this is gorgeous like you you really value that so obsessed yeah i'll i'll i i i want everyone to see this everyone go see the film and tune in on monday
Starting point is 00:34:08 for don't blame me tuesday for see you next tuesday and thursday for but am i wrong and we'll be right back here on friday for more fisting we'll tap back someone said i haven't be able to say this movie is about professional cuckold or an advertisement for polyamory good god people are unwell
