i can't believe i'm reading a whole book i'm excited for you i'm like almost done but now i'm facing the start monday probably it's wednesday i know maybe maybe i started sunday i got it on sunday but still that's a lot yes did you go to matz's little bookstore of course we did and it was a big i'm sure he was so excited that you're going to pick out a book melissa when he walked through the door so like we got it on we must have got on saturday but i didn't read like got it like saturday evening and then sunday he was golfing and he like walked through the door and his golfing was like late he went far and sometimes when i like check to be like oh should i like start dinner like where is he on the road and i see he's in ohai and i'm like whoa that's

an insane and then he'll get annoyed if people play slowly in golf and i was like it is kind of your fault for golfing two hours away but also golfing is supposed to be a leisurely sport what is he getting angry about we have been over this so many times where i literally tell him all the time i go so this is supposed to be your hobby that's like de-stressing why do you have to do this on two times like this he he literally was getting irritated that we were taking too long he always talked about the pace of play when we were playing mini golf with our five-year-old nephew and i was like i need you to chill exponentially there's a child here there's two children here this entire place is full of children yeah this is mini golf there is no pace

of play and like we were like letting people pass us which i was like is normal and fine but like monster everybody gets two swings and i'm like oh that's not even how you play the game chill out um but uh when he came home from golf i was like on the couch reading and i almost put the book down but like i was almost done with the chapter so i didn't want to yet because i was like oh my god he's gonna make such a big deal of this and he walks in the front door and he goes oh you look so beautiful took take a picture of me on his phone and he's like oh my god no keep doing you're doing i'm just i i love just pretend i'm not here and i was gathering fat material for later but melissa literally i was like i i like this is so he and he could tell that i was like

okay if you're making a big deal of this you're gonna make me not want to not want to do this easy no no just i'm sorry i'm sorry i just i'm sorry i just keep reading and then i was like okay and then uh man was revved up no i was like damn this is over all these years this is how and i literally told him i was like sorry i didn't like read sooner you have your glasses on i did but i had to i like was telling because i was like i was a huge reader as a kid and like i even when we first met you were a huge reader i've been a huge reader and so like but for him I do feel bad because like he's a huge reader and like we like I talk about having like read all these all of this stuff like my entire childhood is like timed in points with different books like

I was a massive reader but from the time that I've really known him and like started dating was when I started really like writing my book and for me I stopped reading books when I was writing my book because like it was just fucking with my narrative voice and because I had to do like an extension on writing my book it was a longer time of not reading and then i finally just got out of the habit of it to the point where i was like oh my god everybody's making this like a really big deal it's like someone who like hasn't had their first sip of alcohol because like timing was weird or whatever and then like everybody's like oh my god you're gonna have i was like okay now everybody's being weird about this and it's taking me forever um but i feel like i'm

actually back in it and i will say if anybody has also gone through regardless of the reason why like a reading slump and like i had to like tell myself i'm like bitch you have consumed full books in scripts in like reddit post all like you i read i can i read a lot of articles i do this all during time i'm like okay you can read a fucking book but uh i also i'm not good at like letting myself not work and to me like reading is not work when reading has been work for so long now i'm like well it's not work i just shouldn't spend my free time doing this i shouldn't have free time um but if anyone wants to get back into reading i highly recommend a new book in like a world that you already know because like you're kind of like right back into it and

now it makes me want to read the other hunger games books again which i loved growing up and as well as the like prequel prequel which is the movie with uh rachel dell dolezal no melissa the way that i keep i'm i'm on a side of tiktok of a white woman who's the black woman that's between any of you white that's where i started and now i'm there's video proof of her being a black woman because she worked in radio yes and her features still look black yes she just looks like she lost her color yeah which yeah she's bleaching obviously yes yes she has that that that tinge she's yes she look her skin looks irritated and raw yes and so you're on so that's where i started okay that's where i started like four days ago or something like that and that has

then led me to which i thought i was like coming in in a multi-part series no this was like the first video this person did so i think this person must have been on that side of tiktok too and they're like let me jump in with my story and um she was like she's uh visibly and confirmed mixed and she was like so my dad is black my mom is white my mom thinks she is a black woman my mom has lived my entire life as a black woman to the point where like it wasn't until i became a young adult and she's like and don't make fun of me for this that like i i thought my mom was black like i are the grandparents around yes so but the mom was mom was does did not have a relationship with the family and so when she her mom's very against ancestry tests and so when she was this

daughter wanted to get an ancestry test because she started being like this feels a little funky she was like so adamantly against it and she was like because she said that the i think she did the classic like my the the hospital where i was born went up into flames so there's no birth records or even though how old is she the the mother although it's the mom who said that about okay but how long is the daughter the daughter's like 20 something there's hospital records digitized oh yes i know i'm like i don't you don't even need floppy disks at that point like you're fine like this is you're fine this is the 2000s yeah um and uh she was like basically being like okay because like the more of the extended family she like because she wanted to find her

extended family the more she found of them she was like oh they're white white but her whole thing was like her mom doesn't look like the white women she grew up with and like a lot of people in the comments were like she's yeah like she could she could she could pass she could pass like she does and a lot of people were like do she should that you should double check that 23 and me or she should because like i'm not entirely sure your mom is 23 and we ain't they're out of business yeah i got that email yeah download your data and delete it because they are going to start selling it no they don't have my data okay i just have it because someone i was related to or i guess i'm still related to them but yeah i don't even know how we got there but we're

talking about Rachel that whatever who who the Rachel is that's in the Hunger Games is it Zegler Zegler Rachel Zegler um yeah she's in that movie and so I'm like oh my god I can't wait to watch that I will say a deeply humbling experience to have to search I'm searching trying to find my book and I'm like you know in the fiction section with all the adults in their books and I will say I'm passing by those like fairy porn books which like they're in the adult section yeah starting to get into that in my it's not porn but we've introduced some fake characters in my story I didn't know that

canonically that is like the word because I know that that's them in like one of these big books but I didn't know that that was like their yeah in some instances fairy is derogatory offensive wait I wish you watched Love Island because

that is something Amaya would say she said opportunely instead of opportunity she changes a lot of she's a speech impediment and she changes a lot of words to L's and she's incredibly smart she's a nurse and she like will spit out all the cardiac stuff that she knows because she's a cardiac nurse she'll do like perfectly but then for the rest of the words she's like fuck it like i'm not gonna put them and i was like perfect i understand exactly what you're saying diva i have no issue with it but she would have said something like that but uh yeah so i'm

passing like and books where i know people like a fucking dragons and stuff and like i'm not saying that i think fucking dragging i don't know but i don't know interesting all i know is like they're these big fucking books like the two big ones that people love the big series or whatever and i'm not saying that those are they don't have like adult themes and i'm not suggesting they should be included in like the like the teen book section or the children's book section i'm not saying that whatsoever but i do think that like i personally thought if we were making a different i thought if we were going to separate little women and those kinds of books as like different calibers of books or whatever why i assumed the new hunger games book would also be there because

you know so it wasn't in young adult it was no i no no i did have to go upstairs to the children slash young adult section which to me well a lot of times though children and young adults separated they're not the same category maybe at this particular bookstore they were together but they should be two separate categories because my thing is i'm like i don't know what the idea that this has to be like go all the way upstairs and like i can turn around and pick up like a tiny tots toy and like that's how close i am that's how close i am to the children's stuff and i'm like okay so yeah i guess like fairies having sex that's really explicit and should be in the adult section but children getting their heads blown up and decapitated in war nah that's fine huh i was i

it was young adults should be in tutor i think that this bookstore just put it together but it should be two different categories well and of course i'm the only one there and i was like the most of the people that are reading the hunger games are going to be adults me too and so that's why i think like if you want to have like a young adult section like matz and i were looking he was like i feel like this is going to be in like dystopian fantasy whatever but they don't even have that like yeah this is this bookstore okay because i literally was like why are you making me walk upstairs past junie b jones and then be like sorry i'm here for the hunger like you're making me feel like a child yeah that's just this bookstore well because i'm like it's not

young young adult still has like sex books like that's what i'm saying young adult books i just think this this bookstore just is it's small right yeah i mean it's not it's not tiny tiny it's not yeah no no but i i i guess i just would have i would have assumed if we are having characters of like the fairies fucking and all of that to me that's always screamed ya like that always has come to me as ya and i'm like the fact that they got their whole section next to like jane austen and shit and then i have to go upstairs next to the magic treehouse diaries to get my fucking hunger games book i was like this is mortifying um and i have to say i wish they kept the ya ones down there because i was like well maybe maybe i want to want if you want

to differentiate between young adult like i don't want to read about high schoolers like that's not high schooler is that that's its own thing too that's considered a children's then put that upstairs with the kids stuff and like there can be like you know kissing in it and like a training bra like having like uh crushes but like once there's penetration we're in young adult territory exactly and i don't care if it's with humans or or fantastical creatures keep them in that same area yeah i say this as quite literally the protagonist in this hunger games book is 16 years old but it's but the age doesn't it's yes there's the age like you could have a young adults where they're like in their late 20s which technically should be an adult but the way

they act yeah like children then like that's a young adult novel but like life expectancy here we're not getting up into it late enough but it's violent like yeah that shouldn't that's not a children's book no no and i got caught up in that stuff as a kid too where you like think something's like in the kids ish section and you're like oh i'm traumatized because somebody put this in rocks yeah i was trying to think of like an example and uh like in other media and uh like stranger things that's like it has children but it's not a children's show yeah and it's deceptive in that yeah if anybody knows i read go ask alice because that was in the children's like you had to climb through at my old borders books which ended up being a barnes and noble

which i have to say i do love that barnes and noble um and it's funny that like now barnes and noble is like a brick and mortar store that we need to support when before barnes and noble was like taking out the local bookstores don't go for amazon yeah but now amazon has brick and mortar stores yep so it is so funny though because i used to be like opposed to barnes and noble um but this the section at my like childhood bookstore you had to like crawl through like a cave like it like it like it was so fun it was beautiful you're a big kid hello me you got stuck i was gonna say a big kid like you but i figured you finished it was implied it was obliged and but like you can see me stopping of course you have eyes we know each other in real life we know

our sizes um but like i like had to go through like you know i'm transported to another world there's like bean bags and like it's a kid's world and in there i read a book called go ask alice which if anybody has also been traumatized for the by that book you would know um it's like about a 15 year old who like it's like watching the movie 13 thinking it's for 13 year olds And I'm like, oh, cool. 15-year-old's drug addiction. It's like reading Lolita, like being like, oh, no, wrong section, wrong section. But look at me. I'm a book reader now. I love it. had to put the dog down holy shit yes so like horrible that engenders people being terrorized by houses shaking the way that it emits toxins into the air like i'm just you can't see shit the next day you can't see anything there's also like at this point you can't go to the marina anymore to even see it you can't see anything i could like 10 years ago that's where i would go when i was watching fireworks because my thing is if you're gonna do it do it out in an open area done by professionals and if you do it over water you get the reflection of the fireworks and like it packs a bigger punch but now you you get one firework and then it's like the marine layer has sucked up that smoke yeah somebody died like because their house caught on fire here in

la and i don't even think they were the one popping fireworks their house just caught on fire from a fire a firework that hit a tree in their yard they're terrible so I passed out on Friday probably around eight o'clock I woke up a few times with the house shaking but other than that I wasn't looking at fireworks the next day in Culver City they're doing like a little drone show and they're like it's gonna be from 7 30 to 9 30 like come but it wasn't the drone show wasn't it was like come shop locally and then like the drone show's gonna start at nine there's a ton of people out like a ton a ton of people out we're standing in front of that white house you know what i'm talking about sony it's a is it sony yeah okay i know kelly

used to it used to be sony they it's a studio but it looks like a white house so they were doing it above it and it was going to be 80s theme so not even patriotic which great love that okay so the show starts there's no music there's no sound effects what are we doing we see skates in the air going back and forth there's a tape like a cassette tape and then their emojis yes a pencil comes and screws it like the whole everybody was like amped up and you could just feel the crowd die down and it was over in like 10 minutes and everybody's looking around like that was it even the security guard that's standing there is like in disbelief like what the fuck was that it was such it was terrible and such a letdown and it was supposed to go into

9 30 and i feel like the people were like that were running were like this sucks let's just end it because there was no grand finale it just kind of ended it was terrible one of the worst things i've ever seen in my life the sound i because i will say like a lot of people part of the reason why fireworks are so traumatizing people beyond just like the the shaking of them uh that sound that feels like a a bomb being dropped uh is the sound of feeling like sounding like either a bomb or a gunshot depending on how far or close they are which is brings up ptsd for a lot of veterans and people who've like lived through that stuff but like the drones they just sounds like drones which by the way when i what i associate with drones is also war i don't associate drones with

wedding footage i associate drones with this is a sinner something is happening and i posted on my story with that sound being like please turn it up and tell me this just sounds like a more current fucking war movie like this just sounds like this this sounds like this is this could be taken out and there were people who were like hey yeah i am from lebanon this is what this sounds like and i was like so it's not just in my head it was like no no that sounds like the exact drones that are used in war or genocide why why why not have an orchestra out synchronized to what's happening because that's when when i pictured this i thought it was good because they they said there's going to be live music it was some band playing covers of blink 182 that's not even 80 and they also

didn't know they also didn't have like vendors out it was like go into the stores that are here but most of them were closed because it's late it was so whack it was just so weird yeah but like have have an orchestra out do like the stuff that they do at the uh hollywood bowl have an orchestra out here they're playing it could it could be the local high school but they're like playing just do it and synchronize it to or have somebody record some music and play it through some speakers it does not need to sound like a firework just give it a soundtrack well that's the part that i don't understand because like they fucking do that during firework shows like it never occurred to you that like you should put music on this and again when i posted on my story

people were like wow it never crossed my mind that some people would just not play music like this sounds it sounds like a swarm of bees like it is like a very scary sound anything except for the die of the crowd at mine i don't know yeah it wasn't nice though no no i'm gonna tell you right now so when we so mox and i ours was we went to go see which i don't want this to like you know make it crowded now but hack go see a movie on the 4th of july no it's so dead empty we saw jurassic which was the night the day after it opened which every other showing sold out like every every showing sold out we went fourth of july at like 6 p.m there were four other people in the theater that makes sense there was a couple in front of us they sat down melissa they started

open mouth tongue out making out with each other like loudly and groaning and there's again four other people in this theater they're sitting next to an old man who just shoots up out of his seat as quickly as he can because he is very old and he's got his like veteran's hat on he just looks them goes and then takes like five steps and moves down but i was like what the fuck crosses your mind to sit in the middle of everybody like you could be seen people that do that want to be seen and they get off being seen it sounded like your mouth noises that was like the exact it was yeah i was like the fuck is wrong with you people um so this is what the drone show sounds like you can hear me laughing in the background because as we were leaving matz loves fireworks i love

fireworks too i don't love what they do for the environment everything else but like aesthetically i love a fucking firework and so matz was like let's see if we can see any and the night before we like we watched every jurassic movie ever i'm i'm in i'm in my dinosaur phase right now loving it okay and before someone someone set off um fireworks i have to assume the street behind us because it did set off every car alarm on our street the house was like shaking the last two weeks on my in my neighborhood i will say it's exponentially less than have been like years prior and like it really only started on the third and typically like mine's been going but it was still less than it was last year yeah la loves i can't stress you guys enough like in general

you usually hear fireworks going off all times of day sunlight out like all times as soon as it gets warm out there's fireworks it was actually pretty bad yeah every day like it is it's very odd so this is our this is still less than normal but so when we were leaving the theater much was like we and we went in pasadena he was like let's like drive around and like see if we can like see any fireworks and i was like i'm sure we'll be able to you can see them from the freeway you can see them everywhere so we're just like driving around and he was like oh wait isn't there like uh a firework show at the rose bowl and i was like i'm pretty sure that's a drone show at this point and he was like i don't know and so we drove around he's showing me because like

one of the golf courses he goes to is there which i didn't know and we see like all these people and like there's like uh uh food trucks and stuff and i'm like well we're not gonna like buy a ticket and then we there's all these parking lots and some of them are being like manned by people who are like you know checking tickets and doing all that kind of stuff but i was like there's all these other like just spots to park and then these like far off parking lots that are like behind it which the reason why they don't charge for that is because everything is backwards because turns out this drone show you can only see from from one way that's the only way it works um and the the security was two ladies on a bike and i said they're not stressed there we're we can

and so i warned mons i he was like let's watch like let's like let's watch let's watch and i was like okay have you ever seen a drone show i do not think you're going to like it and he was like what do you mean i was like i mean i personally find them really unsettling like they are quite like sinister but like more than anything they're really lackluster we get out of the car and it starts and he just turns to me and goes oh my god what this one was also apparently supposed to be and i saw this on reddit it was also supposed to be about like a 10 minutes i think they lasted two and a half minutes and they think it's because like one of the drones stopped work and so they took it down this is the sound they make

yeah no no and ours was in fact america themed so the one we the ones we saw were um they did rose bowl which was just they wrote out the rose bowl and they did a rose they also did an eagle um none of these things moved they just the lights would go up and down on them so like it would go from like red to blue oh oh they also did a football helmet mine was because it's the rose ball you got to a football that one's cool when i look up i go because it's a football helmet are you seven years old yeah ours were moving like i just don't understand understand what the theme was and i don't know why it was so quiet if we had a theme that made sense to anything and had music i think it would be cool but this was just i i just i cannot overstate just the disappointment

there were hundreds of people out yep lined up on this they've built up so much have you been to culver city lately no it's different like they've built it up so yeah in a good way where like there's just so much now that's out there and so in you know in front of that white house there used to just you could just see out onto the street but now there's like shops and buildings and stuff wow and so there is space in between and that's where people were lined up on both sides of that and people had blankets and sitting out or standing but they're just it was just sadness and disappointment yeah i'm not surprised like i will say did anyone have to pay for it i think the city of colder city okay because they were charging ten dollars a ticket

no for this one which i think is wild oh yeah didn't yeah it was the city of colder city oh okay no this one did last almost 10 minutes it said uh what a complete letdown the drone show was over after after less than 10 minutes couple of american flags and eagle and that's it oh so i guess we did see everything that wasn't 10 minutes then at all it was yeah eight bucks the batteries don't last long yeah i'm on yeah oh they said it was gonna last at least 15 minutes and it lasted less than 10 and the food was overpriced garbage they said i gotta say though the picture that they posted makes it look a hell of a lot cooler than it did from our side this is the picture they posted that's not what our side's like we gotta wave

maybe it looks like it was waving but but we saw so many more fireworks i have to say though it was crazy on the night we saw better fireworks on the third um i made a joke to bots um about i because i asked him if he had ever set off fireworks he was like no that was like so serious and illegal in denver and then he was like was it not in marin like that's like heavily wooded and i was like oh it was but people still did like people still drove to like Nevada and got fireworks and like brought them and I remember my friend's dad sending them off in like their uh driveway and they're not like the big big big big ones but like they were like decent and he like blew off part of his finger and had to go to the hospital and like it was like a whole thing at typical um as they do

but I was telling months I was like one person in our neighborhood I was like I bet they would be the one that has enough fireworks as we're coming back from the rose bowl and driving around and seeing the fireworks we get there we pull up and who do i see standing outside of their home setting off fireworks in their dry ass lawn these people and i didn't even look at them or acknowledge them we could not stop laughing because he was like oh my god you called it i was like yeah of course of fucking course it would be these people but that on the day before we literally like through our bay window we're seeing fireworks like right in the middle like in the center that I was like are you on the end of our street setting off fireworks like it was

like a perfect view and then through the other window we were seeing another perfect view which is like up on a hill and like all of this stuff and it was like it was gorgeous it was shaking the house and it was also you know setting off car alarms I was a little concerned especially because we don't have streets that I would consider wide enough or without enough trees that both of our places like have a very similar like like wood like not wooded but like the trees form a canopy yeah we don't just have like palm trees we have like tree trees like magnolias on one side of the street and the other side of the street those two trees touch at the top yes like that is not the place for like i'm not saying that there are places that i'm like there but
