Starting point is 00:00:00 yes i have to write um hello megan hi today is tuesday happy tuesday you might not be hearing this on tuesday because we're just going to drop some episodes the week that i'm out of town you know we're gonna keep it uh feeling we're gonna keep it sexy and free while we all channel melissa and we might not be hot and sexy on a horse or a four-wheeler or a four-wheeler or a beach yeah but mentally we are that'll be my plan i'm really excited i'm so excited for you i haven't been on a proper vacation i can't even remember the last time i can't i don't know i don't know either as i think about this years yeah like years years what i'm not looking forward to is the flight because i hate flying and it's a long two separate
Starting point is 00:01:05 long flights but and i'm flying i leave at like nine o'clock at night on friday and i don't get in till saturday around i think 12 yeah and it's just a three hour difference do you have a layover it's it's like a quick plane change i'm going i'll land in panama and then take the plane from panama so take a little something something i know night night i know but i also can't take anything that's gonna make me paranoid yeah so you know maybe maybe i'll just take some magnesium that'll probably be i would take magnesium and i would do noise canceling headphones and an eye mask one so i can't do an eye mask that makes me paranoid too as someone who also gets paranoid an eye mask a flight is sometimes the only one where i can
Starting point is 00:01:59 make it work i gotta be like i like to look out the window like if turbulence comes i'm looking out the window i need to see where we are yes yeah like that what am i landing but it just makes me you feel like you know better you feel empowered by if i'm like you can't do anything about we're on the cloud so i know that we're going through a crowd cloud so it's going to be a little shaky as we pass through it mine is like okay we land in the water how am i doing this we land on does that terrain look like we can okay what are how am i yeah yeah yeah so i have to i have to be be alert enough yeah but i also have to read because technically my last day for class will be that sunday too oh wow and everybody's turning in their scripts tomorrow so i have to read
Starting point is 00:02:43 everybody's scripts that's in my group yeah so i have to do that before you know what i hope to god you are not seated next to pretty much the the guaranteed person you are seated next to when you're writing a script which is someone who is not from la going oh what are you reading yeah yeah and it's like but i have gotten a few dudes numbers on planes who were looking at i was reading scripts and they were like oh like it i just get like a nosy mom from ohio visiting her kid at like pepperdine nah like it sparks conversation do you remember the funded the swimmer that i told you about what's it like to be you shonda i have the next subject for your tv show like i hope that happens
Starting point is 00:03:36 for you then yeah so we'll yeah so only take magnesium i don't want you to be near hot people with potential numbers and connections you know that same flight there's this girl that was in the back of the plane that i heard like being so loud as fuck and i was like she sounds like she's having a great time but i just need her to pipe down she was drunk as fuck as when we were getting off the plane the guys that were with her like they weren't with her with her she just met them on the plane they're like okay see ya we don't know this bra um but like then she i wasn't even seated next to her as we got off the plane she goes i know you and i said i don't think you do and she goes you were a cheerleader i said i was but i do not know you stop did you did we didn't
Starting point is 00:04:24 go to any of this we didn't go to the same school like she was just a fan i i guess like when i think it was just i think she just saw someone short like because she's like the same height as me and i was she's like she's got a cheerleader but like we went to the bathroom i had to go to the bathroom she's like i had to go too girl yeah we had wow yeah you had a good time and then we separated and that was it but wow i can't wait for you to come i mean i'm excited to hear about your trip and i'm excited to hear about your flight we'll see we'll see about what there's been another time where i've flown and this like really sweet old man like we struck up a conversation he was visiting somebody and we just had like a like lovely conversation that's amazing i saw a
Starting point is 00:05:15 tiktok of this woman who i think it was the woman sitting next to her was just like gorgeous and like beautiful makeup and she was like like you know whatever i'm just gonna ask and like ask like could you do my makeup and the girl's like yeah and they pull it out and like they're doing like she's just full on doing her makeup and she's like this looks beautiful she's like oh my god this looks so good and it's like younger woman and an older and it just was so fucking wholesome and sweet and i loved that i would never want to participate in that but i would love to watch that that means i'd have to take off my mask yeah i don't want to touch i don't want to touch my face on a plane but i specifically don't want someone else touch my face no no no gross disgusting hear
Starting point is 00:05:48 more about my plane hot takes on but am i wrong this week i'm looking at the camera as if this is recorded i've looked a couple times oh i feel like it's like we're in the truman show and like but we know we know we do a little aside to camera and it's like it's like we're on modern family exactly elementary by the way speaking of modern family i'm in the market for a new bed i have been for a very long time and i'm trying to find a new bed frame uh the cb2 one i love but it's so fucking expensive and like i found one that i fell in love with oh nice but so this is the one thing now there are some things i will buy secondhand i won't buy upholstery secondhand i won't ever but i'll buy wood things i can sanitize and clean yeah we do have the steam
Starting point is 00:06:28 kits i know but it's still i i don't think it's enough i don't think so either then i i would leave it outside like i wouldn't even be able to bring it inside first especially a bit oh i would never do it ski ski ski ski ski just imagine no i don't want to so that's why i'm not gonna get a i'm not going to but so a wood one there i'm looking at wood ones and like i've saved a bunch of cute ones um and one that i saved you know so they'll sometimes update the profile picture change the price to kind of entice you more and i saw that they updated the price and they were like something something bed as seen on modern family and then i go what and you scroll it is claire and phil's bed and now i'm like fuck maybe now we have to get it and like i'll be honest
Starting point is 00:07:07 remember when they were fucking and the kids ran it yes i'm like i have memories with this bed as a fan of the people who are participating in bed activities and said bed uh-huh and i it was probably like the lower tier of the beds that i liked but they fucking enticed me with that one i think you should and now i have to show mods but i'm gonna show mods the listing without it first he's gonna be so excited and then i'm gonna see how much his perspective and like love of it changes once i say it's the modern family then so might be happening but there's like some beds that have like you don't think it's gone by now no when'd you look yesterday last night it's been a whole when did they post that it was from modern family uh like like uh like four or
Starting point is 00:07:50 five days ago okay okay yeah yeah and also sunday night if it's still available sunday night like you're probably good for the next week um but uh i do have like an issue with like they can call them spindle beds where there's like lots of little like like the wood like rails in the back or whatever like anything that's like not i don't want it to be solid but i don't want all those things because i go kidnapper so many places to tie me up and keep and then i'm dying but there's also no i know you can also have the issue is is that i'm happy to be innovative for and i would rather a serial killer have to get innovative than have an ease of use of go oh you know what works perfectly for this like i'd rather work a little harder okay in in in my pleasurable life
Starting point is 00:08:30 to avoid uh a convenient murder location i've been thinking that i want to maybe get an office outside the home and then the reason is because i want to move into the other room because it's bigger where we record uh-huh so i can forget to put a king-size bed in there i can't fit one in my room when just like that i'm on your side yeah well shit but then why don't you want your office in that room because it's so small it'd be hard for us to record oh and you don't like recording in the living room no i just haven't moved stuff we're recording just because i haven't moved no i no but i'm like it no yeah i think i get that because it's gonna it's not just us it's also gabe and allison like having a space yeah and then you have they'd have to have it up all the
Starting point is 00:09:26 fucking time yep okay well now suddenly i'm on your side yeah it might be enough space i don't know we'll measure do you have a tape measure it's already been measured you know me i plan there was this one one time where i was like i really went into like a i was spiraling one day and i don't know what the fuck i was also talking to my mom at the same time walking through i was like you're making a plan yeah i was like i'm gonna i measured the whole house okay and then i was like i'm gonna move my office into this room where we are in the living room cool makes and then make the current office my bedroom make my current bedroom the gym and then make the gym the living room because there is another door that goes directly in there
Starting point is 00:10:16 yeah no like it would just you would have to retrain your brain and anybody who's ever been here before going that's not the front door anymore yeah it's just the side door and you come in the side door but if but most people that are coming over for the podcasting is perfectly fine if you come in the front door quote unquote front door could you fit your couch yeah i measured is it wall to wall but it wouldn't be this would now be the pot the blue couch that we're on now would be the podcat couch and the yellow couch would become the living room couch okay so who would spend time in the living room like current living room no if you moved the living room in there well i still watch like if this stuff wasn't in here i do sit on the couch and watch tv and
Starting point is 00:11:01 things so you would watch tv in that room you wouldn't come out here right because this wouldn't there wouldn't be a tv in here yeah but now the podcast you sit in the corner so where are you gonna sit what do you mean in the on the yellow couch to watch tv there's a corner in there too oh you're right there is yeah they're both sectionals i'm i'm i'm more into your other idea because that one seems a little less like you will yeah get there halfway and regret it yeah i mean this that was like six months ago i was really just like i don't know what i was gonna tell me i do that shit all the time i go i'm gonna change absolutely everything and it's a great idea and the goal is that you don't you plan and you don't actually start because it's
Starting point is 00:11:42 never actually what is the smartest or best thing to do and if you follow through it's actually quite a large mistake yep yep i understand i understand so well you know i'm here to support you in any venture so we might be in an office sometime i don't know when okay maybe if i hear back from that person they said i should know by the end of this week which one oh oh my god i have two people waiting on good news and me i'm plugging my ears going la la la la la nobody tell me anything so how was your weekend don't do that to me again i i i almost told melissa or i told melissa that i had an eventful weekend and not in a good way and i told melissa i almost saved all of it just tell her on the podcast and then we would have to like bleep all of it out but i
Starting point is 00:12:37 didn't do that but yeah you know i recently one of my friends is uh i saw he posted that he was like in palm springs i was like which what the fuck are you doing kyle i was like what the fuck are you doing in palm springs i figured i don't know who else you would have been talking about you said a he leo and i leo bought a house him and his girlfriend bought a house no and they're doing their garden palm springs no oh but you're saying who you've been talking to he and i go leo is the other person i was also talking to leo doesn't seem like a palm springs person to me no and the next sentence would have made abundantly clear that it's kyle with peace and love um i was like what the fuck are you doing in palm springs and he goes i don't know i just booked a one-way
Starting point is 00:13:14 ticket here like i'm having a like i'm going through it and i was like so are we feeling sexy and free or were we uh feeling like a plastic bag flying through the wind and he goes plastic bag and i was like cool it is plastic bag summer right now well i'm i'm glad that he realized that there's a airport in palm springs because remember for your birthday he booked the flight where we thought he was going to palm springs but he was actually at lax lax yeah so you know and i think that now that you bring that up that's why moths was so offended that he was in palm springs because mott's definitely did not give kyle the benefit of the doubt and thought that he now realized there's a palm springs airport mott's legitimately thought that he flew into lax and just didn't say
Starting point is 00:13:55 anything and so he was like so pissed and i was like no no baby he's just in palm springs and he flew into palm springs he goes oh okay and i was like but you know he might come up and visit we're down up down down down across yeah it's kind of across it's kind of across so friendships what we're gonna get you some new friends okay so just to be clear everyone melissa's not demoting herself no no no i'm she's spreading her wings and is like she's looking around at my she's like i'm doing you're doing an inventory of my life going something has to change and i don't disagree with you so what are you looking for in a friend because i feel because we've talked about this too of how like friends feel
Starting point is 00:14:53 like different friends have different things yeah they have different spots so what kind of friend are you looking for so i have one really specific friend that i would like to cast and like i don't even need to be this close to that friend but like i just need to know that this friend is in my orbit i need a friend who um is an orphan by choice or their parents have both died and they hate their parents okay so i need that you need somebody that you can relate yeah i need i need someone who is like oh no i don't go home for the holiday i need i need a that yeah because i think in a lot of your inner circle you don't know i have none yeah i have none like i have some people who like have most people's parents are together right i mean yeah yeah a lot and then if they're not
Starting point is 00:15:42 they're divorced and or and both are alive and have good relationships or a singular dead parent and then and my friends with like singular dead parent like we you know that that's probably of that and that's how i know i would benefit from it because those we vibe on those levels so i would like that um but that's also like not my it's not my criteria for uh a lot of people because i also don't want to wish that upon a lot of people i would just like somebody i know people exist like they're out that and so i would like to have one that you know i can have at that time um and also i would like it to be relatively permanent like i don't want someone who's like i'm toying with the idea i don't yeah i need you i need it out and then what else do i want um
Starting point is 00:16:31 i would like to you know these are in two superficial ways you don't be really fun to have a friend who's incredibly wealthy who can like we can do fun things but on the other side i would more importantly i would love a friend who did not have a lot of money like grow up with a lot of money that i i like i would like someone who i don't want i would like a friend who's funny i don't want someone who's um i've already filled my quota of loud friends lily is the most i can hand i can't have because i can also be loud likes to do things but is also like mutually flaky in the sense of like a low stakes low commit you know i mean uh-huh someone who likes to sit a lot yeah i don't know what other traits do i like friends you can talk shit with yeah but it doesn't
Starting point is 00:17:21 like you know oh like i'm keeping track or tally of that kind of stuff but yeah like i and i'm also like a a very low maintenance friend it's like i want a friend who like you know and the friends that like like i am the friendships i still have and with people like the the reason they succeed is because they're low maintenance like people i don't have to see all the time um and we're still equally as close can catch up can you know check in in that instance i'm trying to think of anything else it'd be fun to have friends who don't drink but i also my only i just don't have friends who exclusively only binge drink yeah you know like but if someone drinks on i don't care yeah because most of my friends don't even if they're like they they don't like they're not like sober or
Starting point is 00:18:10 they're not like oh yeah i don't drink they don't drink often yeah i think that's also like an age thing too it is i saw a thread it thread it a reddit thread um about how like i think people said like it was the consensus was between 27 and 28 when you just yeah drop off from most people do and so it's like you're not a factor which i think is a good point because i probably haven't made like a new friend since then yeah and i won't be friends with my neighbors but i also like need to make sure like i'm not only friends with people who like live right across the street it's very convenient though yeah i need to fill my go like i'm erin's friend no i don't i hate running errands with people oh i love an errand i know but now i have mots and he's my errands boy and that makes
Starting point is 00:18:58 more sense because you're all in the same house and yeah i need like a go out friend like i get invited to somewhere and then that friend like i can be like hey i'm going to that and they'll be like yeah i'm there yeah i need to fill that void because you know it's funny that's yeah that i would just make you go with me but i would be shocked if you were like megan would you i mean like yeah but i just don't i like if i was if somebody like invited me to something tomorrow yeah and i believe like i'm going to this and you may not come no no that's what i'm saying yeah i would if someone invited me to go tomorrow i would be like melissa you have to come i would expect you to come but like i would not do that for you yeah that's the thing it's like i'm down
Starting point is 00:19:40 but i know that you're not so i need that void yeah and then the void that katherine and alex left when they moved to chicago my like i just show up and we're gonna eat and go to sleep and yeah not and just like fall asleep watching a movie yeah or and or i'm just like running around with the kids friends yeah and like she's also my friend like from arkansas even though we didn't know each other in Arkansas that we align politically on everything but like we can but you could share the history of where you came from
Starting point is 00:20:11 yeah it's a good one the same way you and I are in the same where it's like you don't have to worry about as times change if they're but it's like you know we're in a party
Starting point is 00:20:26 but there are people in the party that we don't specifically like and yeah that kind of I don't have to argue about things. You get it, but I'm not going to say it on the microphone. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's people that are in our party that a lot of people like,
Starting point is 00:20:43 but we're not down with them. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. If you get it, you get it. You get it. Yeah. Yeah, you understand.
Starting point is 00:20:49 Yeah. So those are the two words I need filled. Yeah, that's a good one. That's like Casey refers to Mott and I as like mom and dad friends, where it's just like I can come over, eat your snacks, wear sweatpants, don't have to wear makeup hang out like and it's like it's just easy and that's how we are with um brother brother and sister-in-law it's like that's fun your playlist might get you through the workday but have you ever wondered how your ancestors spent theirs what work helped them build
Starting point is 00:21:19 a life how did they adapt as the world around them changed with ancestry you can search select historical occupational records for free for a limited time and discover the stories behind the jobs in your family tree you've got questions we've got ancestors search free until august 31st visit ancestry.ca for details terms apply yeah and then when we have a child i can't wait for we to be that for other people yeah it's like easy peasy and you can move across the street except not where our new neighbors are because i would like to be friends with them well they may i think they'd like you too i think so too most people do i know you're one of those people that i go you know if i'm not sure that this person's gonna like me i go i'll bring melissa
Starting point is 00:22:03 along and then it makes me look even cooler because i'm like i think it's because i moved around so much i can just vibe off people and then no you're incredibly good at reading social situations and like still being yourself but like being being a strategic you for whatever social situation you're in that is not for the benefit of other people like so you enjoy yourself yeah like you can you'll enjoy yourself in whatever situation you're in you're not like a rigid in the sense of like oh this is this is not what i want and so therefore i hate this which is what i struggle with yeah so huh well if anyone has any um ideas of ways for me to make that i literally feel like maybe i'm like do i have to fucking listen to all the podcasts i was making adult
Starting point is 00:22:51 friends maybe the the gal that uh made the lesbian dating thing has like a spreadsheet for just friends oh my god please like i don't i i also have been like so no new friends for years my most recent friend is cammy and you brought her to me on a silver platter yeah is there anybody the thing is i don't i need i also need non-industry friends too yeah which that's what katherine and alex were too so i'll figure it out see i i want i also need non-industry friends but i also need some more actor friends because i was gonna say i need to um we can just people that we like we can start inviting people on the podcast but then i don't want people that work i invent I invite my neighbor on the podcast yeah no it's yeah I want to have like a a nice well-rounded
Starting point is 00:23:48 circle and Monson I specifically also want um like a couple friend because his all of his New York friends like those are our couple friends but they don't live here and so like we see them when we're there and then weddings or when they come here and like that's always really fun but we don't have like a regular couple friend yeah um maybe i'll lock down somebody and then i would love that but one of his friends also recently has a girlfriend and now we're gonna and i'm like i truly just cannot wait to meet the woman who got who made this man move out of the he has lived in the same apartment like i think maybe since he first moved to la was he matz's roommate that guy no no no no they were never thank god they were never roommates
Starting point is 00:24:32 because like if you ruined this friendship you've met him he's great but like i nard i don't know he dresses really he's one who's like the best style um but i like can't wait to meet because like he's so cool and has such just like high standards for like the friends he has and the people like the company he keeps like he's like trim the fucking fat like constantly and i've met so many amazing cool girls who like have had things for him or you know that like he's been like he's not been reciprocated it or just like his female friends are like just really fucking cool and now that he has his girlfriend i'm like she is gonna be just so cool like i can't wait and uh i'm really excited i i do find it ironic that one of our most ongoing topics and advice
Starting point is 00:25:23 we give people is how to make adult friends and also like you know boundaries and all of this shit and when i tell you i just sat in my room the other day and i went good god the irony is not lost on me that i we've been kind of talking about it for a minute off mic but yeah but i'm like i'm literally like like thinking about the the the advice that i've given to like all these other people but then suddenly when it's my life i'm like can create all of these exceptions and like why like you know all those things and you're just like okay you know what it really is that fucking cut and dry yep but you know when you're in it it's hard but also when they find people are calling they're at the pot spot i'm already you know i mean yeah they've already gone through
Starting point is 00:26:04 them like yeah you've already given all of your chances and all of your shit so um if anyone has any ideas of people i could be friends with who live in los angeles even people you follow online a lot of people that you know i've like i want to know them i've met them in some way you know yeah we'll do that with cammy yeah cammy yeah allison too oh that's a good you know what i also did that with gabe and allison i said i like these fuckers yep and then i saw them at vidcon and i clapped on the floor and i said please be my friend and they said okay you're so weird and i said that's fine i love you and they said okay there's some people that i thought that i want to be your friend and then i meet them in real life and i'm like i don't like you
Starting point is 00:26:54 that's a doozy yep and then i hear terrible things about them from other people and i'm like oh you don't tell me that well i was friend crushing i was friend crushing that's not that's unkind oh okay i didn't know when people are like you know i just i wanted you to form your own opinions oh no no no no i would like you to tell me everything you know and then i'll use that to form my own opinion i was literally at i was at the picket lines and i heard this voice and i was like oh that's somebody i want to be a friend with like i knew who it was from tv yeah and then the person i was with he was like no no and you know he literally at the same time he goes i heard the voice and it was grating and i go what and then he tells me all
Starting point is 00:27:44 the stories and i was like oh damn okay thank you no no i need to start a new roster of people i would like to be friends with yeah yeah right i mean my you know my connections of people that i go we have a connection it's princess diana and um princess diana in the titanic those are the things that i have connect like i have that intrinsic connection to so i need to start maybe watching some more modern day things yeah to then find people that i go that could be my bitch and kiki yeah yeah but of course we're you know we're close ish kiki i need new friends came back kiki for another ad are we riding kiki let's ride yeah maybe i need to have a baby to then be friends with kiki i don't know that baby kiki kiki baby popped out and went to college
Starting point is 00:28:43 no but kiki was like you know what i'm about to be like she's always been hot but like she's taking it to another level no kiki popped that baby out and was like that baby's gonna go to college so i'm gonna pay for that baby i'm going to leave the legacy for this child that is not only successful but incredibly hot like turning looks left right and center yeah yeah um i would aspire to be that um yeah who else who else should i who else do i have a friend crush on you know who i do have a friend crush on but like i also like don't want to be friends with them like i just want to watch them from afar brooke and connor make a podcast no i still don't know who these no we're in different stages of life they are they're newer la kids children yeah
Starting point is 00:29:41 they're like from the things that you told me 27 okay but they're like new la do you know what i mean uh-huh so i've already you know who i want to be friends with who they are new la but they're older um uh what's her name and ben amber and ben amber and ben you know what and you know what maybe she'll give you that same home feeling because she's a sorority sister where'd she go to college i don't know but i mean like in the sense that like yeah if she went to school even if it's not where you they could be in the south you could have somewhat well they moved from chicago oh do you think ben would be okay with the fact that i make fun of um chicago dying the river green on saint patrick's day that is a deal breaker for me i feel like he probably is into it
Starting point is 00:30:28 but then amber makes fun of him for it like that seems as long as i have support yeah we should invite her on the podcast that's a good call hello amber we invited you today because we would like to be your friend this episode is sponsored by bumble bff amber's pull out your phone right now i would like you to do some swiping yeah she's from chicago i love chicago if i was going to move to any other city and had a choice i'd move to chicago in a heartbeat that was my choice that was gonna be like where i was gonna go if i didn't decide to go to um come here but i got pneumonia and you know what chicago is not a great place for pneumonia nope nope not at all i got pneumonia in chicago that was the thing oh oh well you know chicago has a
Starting point is 00:31:18 lot yeah it's not a place to recover from pneumonia but it is a place to catch it yep but i love it what a city um melissa what'd you do this weekend melissa what did you do this weekend i went shopping at the grove i can't believe you've been sitting on this the whole time and i've made so many groves you're fucking insane where the fuck did you go madewell top shop nordstrom i went to nordstrom and you did fucking pick up you i didn't do pick up i got a stylist oh my god you i can't i need to stop being surprised at you finding things and doing things that the only you know it's free well yes but the only people i know who have done it are just like older marine moms i signed up for it because i was like i need stuff for my trip so
Starting point is 00:32:04 here's how it started you know that stuff that i want to get for my trip yeah remember well i remember when we we did palm springs and you were doing other trips that you did another online digital stylist you said this shit is ugly no yeah it wasn't it was i was specifically wanted that stuff that i showed you that one day uh-huh sure i okay yeah i just i had something in it and then i misjudged the death i've done this many of times um so that was going to take like three weeks to get here yeah okay you were a little cocky when i was like okay you should order it i was going to but then i started reading reviews and oh yeah so i was like i wonder if they sell it at any stores and where i could go test the quality you know they sell it nordstrom but still
Starting point is 00:32:48 it was still gonna take them a few weeks to get it in i was like fuck that i don't have time yeah to waste so i was like so i was on the nordstrom website and i was just looking around i was like oh i can get it i can get a stylist so i just went at 9 30 on saturday morning where i knew nobody was gonna be good morning i went i had an appointment and i basically was just i well she was still i got there a little early because i wasn't sure how long it's gonna take me but yeah i always valley at the grove because i don't have time for that fucking when i tell everyone the only thing i know that valet there are you i think casey used to do it when she would get her car washed sometimes it's that and then like incredibly wealthy billionaires from mostly everybody driving
Starting point is 00:33:35 up we're in uh g wagons yes so um valet found out that if you do a stylist appointment valet is free so um rich people richen so uh i walked around for like a second nobody was in the store because it was so early and i saw a few things i liked and she was like oh i'm gathering stuff for you i've already got the dressing room started i was like great i'll just hang these things in there then she was like you can go have a seat in the little waiting room so i sat in the waiting room while she finished gathering things did you like fill out a questionnaire about like things you liked and stuff okay and i told her i liked that brand and so i like wanted similar stuff so she's like great got it and she had called me on friday but i was recording i didn't realize she'd call me
Starting point is 00:34:20 like for more clarity and stuff but but um how thotty are we trying to get not too thotty yeah didn't get too thoughty um but she got me some great pics like i was in there for like about an hour wow 45 minutes i got four great outfits we also like put away some things um that for um like allison's wedding and then when i go see beyonce like she's like i know what you like um and so i mean yes you do and so she's like you're on my list now so like she'll like send me things like as things to come in that she thinks that i like she's gonna do like send it to me um but also like if i have any event or anything coming up then i just let her know and she'll just pull stuff for me and then have it wow yeah that's amazing yeah
Starting point is 00:35:08 how old is she around my age i think because i was wondering because i know that like it's a coveted like being a nordstrom stylist is a coveted position um and i've had like friends who like worked in retail for like and were managers and all that stuff and like the goal was to always get to that it's a hard place to get to because people stay forever but you know marin it's they they they hire based on their clientele so it's like a lot of older white women nancy myers aesthetic and so it had never enticed me and now that you say this and you can pick two like i kind of i've like looked at the site and i was like i want a black woman no that's i'm saying i would like to have photo references yeah and uh and yeah she was yeah elaine thank
Starting point is 00:35:56 you elaine oh i'll send her a text because now like i have her number and i'll let her know i mentioned her on the podcast oh my god elaine once i see these outfits you know are you looking for eccentric neurotic clients because hi i think she would enjoy it but she like got me like she brought me something and i was like this is a little too auntie and then she like laughed and she's like i got you and then came back with like so that's the best that's that's what you need like it's just to be like i also need to be able to describe i can describe what i like but i can also really tell you what i don't like yeah and i'm not going to say it in fashion terms i'm going to say it in emotional terms yeah and that's why i was like i don't she's like do you want something
Starting point is 00:36:35 like i was like i don't know what these things mean exactly but that and like a cutout and she's like i got you and she brought me yeah do you have pictures i will just show you the items you are in my home oh my god i'm not gonna try them on yet no it's fine yeah yeah keep something to my imagination like surprise but i'll show you the wait cute okay damn i'm excited for that i need to do like a vet like a going through my goddamn fucking closet and getting rid of shit and doing all that stuff but um i was thinking of like doing one of those like tiktok challenges because you know we are getting our a and c a and c a c installed and so therefore um i can wear clothes in the summer that aren't athletic shorts and sports bras so i'm like wanting to maybe do one
Starting point is 00:37:21 of those like 30 like an out and making 30 days 30 outfits things it doesn't have to i don't have to wear it the whole day you're just like getting dressed and then seeing like where are the gaps in my wardrobe what do i need what do i want what do i miss 100 gonna do that with her no it's a good call because both of us we're occasion shoppers we're not like i'm not i'm not just shopping and buying things like oh i'll save this for this like no no yeah if i i'm only buying shit when i need something for something and that's and she and like that she started off was like i'm i pull some things that i was like this will fit into like your wardrobe i said no no i want like vacation stuff and she's like yeah and so then also then for me then like i don't always look
Starting point is 00:38:03 at my clothes and what oh i can mix a vacation top with my work pant you know i mean yeah i'm like oh i need to do that and also like i don't i don't shop that much yep so my clothes a lot of my clothes are very 2016 and i go oh yeah i guess there have been some years in between that oh i can't wait to see your stuff whatever i'm excited me too do you want shoes you're wearing i order some shoes too that are coming they'll be here on thursday wow that is so fun yeah shoe season i'm gonna go to podiatrist and then i will also be in sandal season cannot wait what a time wow well look at us here we've influenced you nordstrom styling hey nordstrom if you want a sponsor i know you do not need any because people just love you not sponsored but with
Starting point is 00:38:52 love with love you can always hit us up yeah please it's never clingy like we just always and forever i can't like you're so the term that they use for a sales associate for those kinds of things like style personal style a sales associate the abbreviation is sa which i really think we should switch it yes we should it does not it has been used as abbreviation for years before the internet had to censor other terms um like when that person reached out to me and was like are you the poc are you the poc to be reaching out to um and you said i don't know am i they meant point of contact not person of color depends on what you want like what's the context like yes but also no right so it depends yeah no so and the answer to that was yes but also
Starting point is 00:39:48 no i thought it was so fucking funny it's still my favorite part i was like yeah they didn't even realize did not even realize but yeah i when i bought a like i used to buy like designer handbags and shit and like never once did they look at me and go this girl is gonna keep spending money here um except for one time i got my little bag at saint laurent and the girl was like oh my god like your number like i'll text you when like new things come in and i was like okay like you don't have to do that i wouldn't spend your time and she did for a while and i was like oh that's cute i'm good though i'm not coming back yeah like i was like no i i did all the research and i knew what bag i was buying not not i'm not one of these i'm not one of those
Starting point is 00:40:30 folks yeah it was just dollar dollar bills every week being like this will go with these kinds of outfits right anyways all right well what an episode yeah we will see y'all next time goodbye bye see you next tuesday
