post annoyed me so much i live in the midwest and it's extremely common for wedding invitations to list a dress code that is not representative of the couple the location or the guest attending thankfully it's becoming more common for people to use wedding websites and i think that's the perfect place to display examples of the attire you're expecting your guests to wear i hope this becomes a standard also i'm not not totally related but i'm a nail tech and this gives the same vibe as when people come in asking for something that's been popularized but using a trendy tiktok name example moscow mule nails or soap nails yeah this is exactly how i feel about the names and themes this is not unrelated this is exactly how i feel i think people feel the need

to use cutesy slash trendy terms for everything nowadays i honestly don't mind the use of these names but a lot of time people ask for it not actually knowing what it is slash looks like that's how i feel like where it's like i love your idea of like your fun cutesy name you do need to tell me what that means because like i don't know what that means i don't understand like you it's the same thing i was like oh like beach elegance formal optional black tie and i'm like coastal yeah i have no idea what that sounds like a yankee candle i have no idea what that means like you have to tell me explicitly because we're all going to show up wearing something totally different otherwise like i love a good name i love naming things you need to define what

that name is someone said meg is not wrong clearly people need to chill i do like the idea of a pinterest board for inspo and i've heard of people acquiring certain colors which i think will be so fun i love when people do that i think that's like a very fun way to i've yet to beat a one that's like that and i really i'm hoping the next wedding that we're going to in columbia i could see them because they're by far like the most fashion forward couple of any uh wedding we've into and i'm hoping i know it's gonna be a great like like whatever they dress code they want but i could see them actually doing like a wear this color this day this color this day and i would love that black tie slash black tie optional kills me i've gone to one where the groom was

in a green suit another where the bridesmaids were in cocktail dresses if brides don't know the difference then guests should also be given some grace too yeah that drives me crazy i agree with megan i'd rather have a lax dress dress code or very clear instructions give me rules and style references let's pretend i do not know the different dress code categories because i don't i've only heard of black tie but i genuinely don't know what the rules are so please have please have mercy give me a color code and an image yep and especially because like when you go on websites all these like different brands will be like oh black tie dress outfits and like they will not be up to certain people's black tie standards and then they'll be way too formal for

other people's black tie standards where i'm like yeah there's no this idea that there is like a common one usage is true but unfortunately the people setting the dress code don't necessarily know that that's what they're asking people to wear and people to do if you want your wedding guests to dress an exact way you need to explicitly say what to wear and what not to wear although there's information out there on what certain attire is supposed to be like megan said a lot of people don't know what they actually want also as a person who didn't really grow up going to consider what's considered fancy events it's often hard for me to tell what to wear to events like this i always try my best to dress on theme but i feel like a novice sometimes when factoring in

travel and getting a couple of gifts sometimes i'm not able to afford the nicer things that people would want you to wear to a wedding either honestly if i'm coming to your wedding and making the trip i'm glad to be there and i hope you're glad to have me as i am obviously i wouldn't show up looking like i wouldn't show up looking bad but again if you want a specific look you need to give specific examples i'm giving a soft meg is not wrong because i think many people push the envelope too far and need to be reeled back in i'm sure that's also true and i love a good black tie but like what do you mean it's outdoors August and I'm in gravel
