Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello and welcome to Don't Blame Me. My name's Megan. What's your name? My name's Melissa. What do we do here? We give wonderful, amazing, truly life-changing advice. We also talk about pop culture. We also talk about pop culture. We talk about what's going on in the world. And we talk about our own lives. We do. We, this episode is great. You're kind of getting like a throwback a little bit of, but am I wrong? which was, as Melissa, she gives an intro, but like, our ranting and bitching ones. Melissa gives us some top-tier rants. I chime in.
Starting point is 00:00:37 We talk about what we've been doing. What's the latest updates in our life? What's going on in Los Angeles? We give us some workplace advice. Shout out to anyone who understands nonprofits. Yeah, we're talking about those. And then we got a lot of other stuff. All right.
Starting point is 00:00:52 How do people participate, Megan? Oh, I'm so glad you asked. You can give us a call at 310-694-0-0-976. If you're an international listener and you still want your voice to be played on air, you can send us a voice memo to Megan Podcast at gmail.com. And if you are domestic or international, and you're like, I would prefer not to have my voice. Even though we love that, you can write out what you want to say, keep under 300 words and send to that same email or the easiest way to do it.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Just click the link in the show notes, fill out the form. Tell us everything we need to know. And I've got faith in you that you'll be able to do a good job. I do too. So, and remember, you can ask us for advice. You can give advice to other people that have called in. You can update us and you can also give your own little rant if you want to as well. I would love to hear like a local rant of like, this is what pissing me off in my small town.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Yeah. Okay. I love that too. All right, let's get into the episode. All right, should we give some advice? Let's do it. Hi, Eminem. I currently work doing marketing and grant writing.
Starting point is 00:02:12 for a small nonprofit. I've been working here a year. My job entails running their socials, website design and management, and drafting their newsletter, creating graphics, working at events, and finding grants and writing them. However, I'm not a full-time employee. I had submitted a proposal to become full-time in July because I feel like I'm essentially doing two full-time jobs for part-time pay and hours. I laid out a detailed proposal with graphics and how making me full-time would be beneficial to organization. I have yet to hear back, and since then, I'm constantly pushed and given assignments with no time to work on them, so I work at home for free to get them done. I did, however, secure a grant for a huge sum of money.
Starting point is 00:02:44 I'm not sure I should circle back on my proposal or if I should just go find a new job. This is my first big girl job, and I'm such a people-pleaser and I'm not sure what to do. I also want to note, I don't live in a city, and this job is close to my house, so any other job would have to be remote. Any advice we greatly appreciated have a sleigh day. People-pleasers can't work for nonprofits. No, because they will bleed you dry, and you, your father? Yes, he runs.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Yeah. And you, and you can't, don't work from home for free. No. Don't do that. This is not volunteer work. Do not do that. And so I know that you say you're people pleaser, but you have to, you have to say, I, I don't have enough. You have to say, this is too much for my plate right now when people bring you certain things. Even when you become a full-time employee, don't do- You're already doing too much for a full-time employee. Yes. And that's, and that. That's not, you're not going to get, even though you'll be on, I'm guessing, on a salary,
Starting point is 00:03:40 you're not being paid for that work at home. No. So you should be definitely circling back to them. Wouldn't you? You wrote to us just a few days ago. So it's been two months and they haven't got back to you. Follow up with them. You should be anytime you submit anything for a job, two weeks should be a follow up.
Starting point is 00:04:01 That's the most you should be waiting to follow up. Yeah. The minimum, a week. Mm-hmm. Working at nonprofits are for people who have family money or people who like, this is their number one life passion. This is like this is their number one thing. This is all they care about. And again, I say this is somebody whose father runs one and like it is his he will be buried. It is his life's passion. He loves it more than any human on this earth. Like that is. And he cares nothing about money. No. And he makes no money. And the people who work for him are like all right. They are usually they are retired. People who are like doing community. He's like judges who work. for him for free because they're volunteering. They want to help and give back to the community. Or they are very wealthy people who have free time and like want to give their money to like a good cause. And or there's someone who's like really been through this and like has directly benefited
Starting point is 00:04:53 from it. And then they won't even work there full time. They will essentially volunteer again. And then like I know someone else who works at a nonprofit and their salary. They've worked there for a very time. They're very good at their job. They've got like an impressive job. You'd be like, wow, that is so cool. They are making the most money they will ever make. And like it is just like it is capped. And every other person this person works with like billionaires. Like it's just like nonprofits are like it's an impossible structure. Like it is like if you need to pay your bills and you need to not be overwork, there are so many other jobs that you could be in besides this that will overwork you. and you'll get paid more. Or you will get paid the same and you will not be overworked to this level. And like, you have to draw such clear boundaries in any job. But like, again, and I mean this with evidence based. The level of guilt tripping you will encounter in a nonprofit is tenfold to any other because
Starting point is 00:05:57 that is the demographic. You have people who don't need the money or you have people where this is the only thing that they care about and they would be doing this without money. And so this as your first job, a non-profits are really, you're going to learn a, I'm sure you've already learned a lot. But like, this can't be the mentality you go into with any other job that like I will bleed out for you. You have to be able to create those boundaries because people pleasers just get taken advantage of. And ultimately, like, in order to please some people, you're going to have to piss other people off. And then you're going to send people please them and then they'll piss someone else off.
Starting point is 00:06:34 And at the end of the day, you're just pissing yourself off. Totally. And like no one's ever going to be happy all the way. And so you just have to create that balance. And I think it's really unprofessional that they haven't even acknowledged that you've sent this. And then they're continuing to send you more stuff to do, especially as a part-time worker. Like, seemingly they would have other part-time workers. And they would know that this is like someone has sent you like a really long voice memo about like something difficult going on in their life.
Starting point is 00:07:00 And then you're just like replying to their Instagram story. And it's like, no, no, no, no. We had, you can't just, or like liking, swiping all that. Ha, ha, he he reaction. No, there's something far more important that you need to address. So I truly think that you should follow up with them, but then I also think that you should find a different job. Yeah, I agree.
Starting point is 00:07:22 I do love nonprofits. I just want to say that, okay? Yeah. It's just. It's just a lot of, and, you know, giving back to the community, serving your community. are all very beautiful things to do. Yes. But you have to have the mental and physical capacity to do it and also the means to take care of yourself. Once you do that, I was going to say you might end up
Starting point is 00:07:44 like Aunt May. Once you do that, you're giving from an empty vessel. Yes. And like this isn't like pro-capitalism, but like nonprofits have a, it's so, nonprofits are so difficult because of capitalism. And the solution to it isn't capitalism. But like just the way that nonprofits, I don't think anybody wants to work a job where people run the gamut of, you don't have to pay me for this. I would do this for free because they have the money, that they don't need the money. Or people who are like, I care about this more than anything. And I will live in a, I will live in a, in a, in a, in a shoe box.
Starting point is 00:08:21 And I will, I will bleed out. I will put this before any of my loved ones. And I will wreck every interpersonal relationship I have to put this thing on top. Like, that's not a healthy work environment. But unfortunately, like, when you're not making money, those are the only two options you have of. Right. And I think that you secured a grant. I think that there should have been a line within the grant where they would cover your employment. Yes. Yeah. Because why are you securing a grant that isn't, like, the grant is there to also help employ the people at the nonprofit?
Starting point is 00:08:56 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I respect people who work at nonprofits and have the capacity to do it. But it is really not feasible if you don't have a primary source of income besides that. It's essentially glorified volunteer work. So they do wonderful work. Wonderful. Wonderful. And like I really appreciate the people who like it is their whole life. They bleed out for it.
Starting point is 00:09:18 It's like it's incredible that that is like what they want to dedicate their life to. But like that does not with come without sacrifice. And it's just it's not feasible unless you are willing. to give up everything or you don't have anything you have to give up because you have a ton of money. Yeah. Because that's also your coworkers. Like if you're like so sorry, I have to pay my rent, you're not going to relate to people. No, but I'm saying like, you're going to be like, oh, my parents bought me a $7 million house. Like, oh, I don't. Like, it is just, it's a specific type that can work at a nonprofit. It, like, yeah, it's hard. Yeah. How are you? I'm okay.
Starting point is 00:10:09 You know, I've got cramps. Not great. I got a headache, not great. I got my cute glasses on. Yeah, you look adorable. I would never know that you're suffering in silence and you're, but you're surfing out loud. Thank you so much.
Starting point is 00:10:24 Thank you. I got anti-glare stuff on it, so it looks pretty good. Damn, the way that I wish that shit fucking existed when I was like a child and you're taking pictures and it's like, think. To be fair, that's also part of the reason why I got the transition lens. kind of took that down a little bit. You know, how was your weekend? All my plans for this weekend were canceled.
Starting point is 00:10:48 So Saturday I was going to go, well, that wasn't specifically canceled, but I canceled it for myself. I was going to go to a chapter meeting for my sorority. But they're like doing this cute end of summer and we're going to do a little retreat thing. It was outside. I'm not going. It was too hot.
Starting point is 00:11:06 They were like, bring fans too hot. And then I told them, I was like, I can't be outside because of my respiratory issues. And they're like, well, there's a patio, patio, not patio, a patio. Petition to change it to patio. I like that so much more. That's screened in. And it has air condition.
Starting point is 00:11:23 And I was like, that would actually be worse because then I'm going to be, the air is going to be hot and cold. The wind. And then also the particles. It was a very low, bad air quality that day on Saturday, too. And I was like, that would actually make it worse. So self-canceled there. Good, good, good. And then Sunday, White Ashley and I were supposed to go to the sparks you're having, like, because she has season tickets.
Starting point is 00:11:50 They had this thing that they have that we went to last year for season ticket holders where you get to just go hang out with the players. Oh, cool. But she was coming back from Toronto, and her flight was delayed. And then they were sitting on the plane, and then it got canceled. So then it didn't go to that. Yikes. Yeah. She didn't come into the next morning. And like I texted her and I was like, hey, are you a Indian? She's like, yeah, I got back this morning. And I had said that because they had just grounded all planes at LAX. Yeah. This weather and this administration combined together, like it feels like everything bad is happening. Like it's just like the vibes are bad and then the votes are bad. Like it's just a two-finding. It's just a two-finding. sort of a thing. Like, did you, have you been following the, like, chain of horrific events that happened?
Starting point is 00:12:47 Oh, my God. I can't read any more about that because it's just too heartbreaking. In case you don't know, there was a bus accident here in L.A. and Chatsworth. And then one of the choppers, the news here, all the stations have choppers that go out and covered the news both on ground and from the air. And one of the, for NBC, the helicopter went down. And the pilot and reporter were both killed. And also a pedestrian that was in, they weren't even a pedestrian.
Starting point is 00:13:25 They were in the parking lot who was visiting family. Yep. From out of the country. And they also passed away too. Because it fell on them. It fell on them. Like it's, and I've been like, I'm so deeply anti-helicopter. Yeah, we've talked about it too.
Starting point is 00:13:42 So much. Why are they always sending out the helicopters? There's no reason for it. Unless it's a chase where they need to see where the person is going. But it costs. And even then all those helicopters, every new station doesn't need to have. There just needs to be a police helicopter. Yes.
Starting point is 00:13:57 And like, when you think about in general, like we have, we have two, we have one international airport. We have another, like, mainstream. like Burbank is a large it's a it's a big airport even though it's a tiny airport it's still it's not a regional airport and then we have two private airports and so you have so many planes already flying in the air that like they've made warnings like the FAA has made warnings about like there's just a lot of like air congestion in Los Angeles that like the timing of all of that when there was the FAA like strike layoff all of that stuff it was like LAS really needs to be really
Starting point is 00:14:32 careful because like there's just a lot of moving parts And then we have fires and we have emergency helicopters that drop, that do water drops. And then there, again, like there's search and rescue immediate helicopters in that. And that's like on need, necessary basis. But then having every single news station, like you'll have five helicopters all way too close to each other who are also near airplanes. And like the fact that like they're so expensive, the upkeep in the maintenance of them. and like we just know at this point like actually they are dangerous like they're dangerous to ride in in the best of like the best conditions and I just think it's I just I hate that it is become
Starting point is 00:15:14 almost like a prerequisite for people who want to be like on camera journalists and host or whatever that like that is a very real possibility of something that you're going to have to sign up for where it was like you don't need to do that like we don't need to have our news like that and I hope this changes yeah because this was literally news channel for them. They were covering the crash live, which was a fatal crash. And one of the report, the people in the studio were asking the people, the reporter that was on the ground. And you see all this because we can see the helicopter. We hear a noise. The motor is coming down. You see the plane just go, the camera feed go black. Yep. The people in the studio are clearly
Starting point is 00:16:01 shaken up and frightened by what they're seeing. The person on the ground doesn't know what's happening. So they're telling him, hey, we need you to go get closer to that fire that's behind you. So he has to go discover that his coworkers, while the people in studio already have a gut feeling, that something terrible has happened. And he goes to look. Yeah. And I totally understand how like emotional must be in the personal connection. But like unfortunately, it is really getting lost. in the reporting that like a innocent pedestrian was also killed. And I don't mean innocent that like they were culpable or anything like that. But like they were just walking through a parking lot.
Starting point is 00:16:41 And they're just, yeah, that they were kind of like losing that aspect of it too that like these are not. It's not just like you assume the risk of it for yourself. When you're reporting in large cities and you're flying like low to the like I remember like I've had helicopters who were like so low that they're there. one of that, like, it, like, ripped off the top of our avocado tree. And I'm like, that's, it's just too low and it's too dangerous. And there's people around and, like, it can cause fires and all that. But I will say I am marginally hopeful that this will change something because I want to say it was ABC. As soon as it happened, they, and I think all of the news networks grounded their helicopters and, like, sent those reporters home. Like, they weren't even, like, go to the studio, go to the office.
Starting point is 00:17:27 I was like, no, go home, be with your families. And then they did. ground reporting for the rest of the day. And like I really hope that sticks. Like it's just not, I don't know. It's just, I find it so unnecessary. I found it unnecessary since I was like a kid where you would be stuck in traffic on the grapevine driving from like L.A. to San Francisco. And all you hear is helicopters. Like as you're trying to be like, hope no one gets in a crash because there's tons of fatal crashes there, you've just here helicopters just filming the congestion, the traffic. And I'm like, it's just so not fucking necessary. And it makes me so sad for everybody involved. And like, it's just traumatizing. Again, it's like a high risk thing that we've desensitized the risk. And so then when you have
Starting point is 00:18:11 live helicopter feeds, like it's not uncommon that something would go wrong. And now you have a live feed of it happening, which is just horrific. Yeah, it's, it's just so, so fucking sad. But I remember watching, I was literally like my, I've become like a, as I say, a real adult, where now my TikTok algorithm in the morning shows me that I watch the news every morning from my phone from TikTok. But my favorite is I still do, I really engage with the heartwarming,
Starting point is 00:18:40 like personal stories, like the op-a and one about a family where their house is being broken into and their golden retriever just wanted to play with the burglar and like kept trying to bring him toys to play and they're watching on the camera and be like, oh my God, dog, do something.
Starting point is 00:18:56 Nope, police come. A golden retriever. Guns drawn. They're not there to attack. They're there to play. Yeah. And I was like, that is funny. Funny, funny, funny.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Do you have any fun plans for this weekend? Yes. And if you want to go to the Sparks are doing the dedication for Lisa Leslie because she's getting her own statue. So the game is happening on Sunday at 4. Can't remember what day. My niece's birthday party is this weekend. I'm not sure which day though.
Starting point is 00:19:23 And then Black Ashley and I are going to brunch. Oh my God, Ashley weekend. Yes. Big Ash weekend. Well, actually, White Ashley is not going to the game. So it's not even that. Well, she is adjacent. She is barks adjacent to you.
Starting point is 00:19:36 That's fun. What about you? This coming weekend, niece's birthday party. Are you baking a cake? No. We're doing family birthday next weekend. Because her birthday, I want to say, is like Tuesday. Like, it's middle of the week.
Starting point is 00:19:52 And so friend birthday party is the weekend before. And then the following weekend also probably. because I don't want her to have that much cake. Then we're doing family birthday. So no presents at her birthday party with, like, you know, friends and everyone. And then we have, obviously, have a present for her. I have to show you. I'm truly motherfucking obsessed with this.
Starting point is 00:20:14 I'm like, can I get one too? It's this cutest princess dress. And because I, I'm like not a Disney adult, but I'm like, I understand Disney adults. Like I will dabble in some of the subreddits. The same way how I ended up on like the nanny subreddit as in the profession. Like I'm nosy. Like I love to hear about things. And one of the things I had heard from this.
Starting point is 00:20:36 Do you understand all Disney adults? No. Okay. But I understand like the concept of like like, like, I think like in their subreddits of like certain things, whatever. So like I will know that like I know that the limited drink of popcorn and like cup stuff. Like I know those. If I saw those at a thrift store, I'd be like. Not like character absist.
Starting point is 00:20:54 No. No. I'm sorry, friend of Mickey obsessed. Yeah, I mean, I will be real. I am actually enough consuming of the Disney adult's content that then I started diving into Disney character actors. And truly, the fact that the, as they have said, people are obsessing over the wrong thing. And reality is it's the princess is getting groped by the dads. That's the one that's like the, like, that you really have to worry about. but they have in all of these separate, when people are like, oh my God,
Starting point is 00:21:29 taking my family Disney, like what dress should I get from, what princess dress? Everyone's like, you got to do little adventurers. And that information stuck with me. It was completely irrelevant to my life for years until my niece. I was like,
Starting point is 00:21:42 we have to get her a princess dress for her birthday. And she is small for her age. And the sizing of these is like, it's just like, she's in like the middle of one of the sizing. the other ones would be way too big. And so I personally like this one the most, even though it's a reference she will not get it.
Starting point is 00:21:59 And I'm just telling her it's just a princess. Like, it does not matter. I think you were talking about this last week. Look at it. Cute. Is that not the cutest gosh darn thing you've ever motherfucking seen? I'm obsessed. So we didn't get the crown because I'm like,
Starting point is 00:22:13 I don't want it to feel like you're cosplay, Glenda, and you have no idea who that is. But I'm just so excited. And I was thinking about it was like, oh my God, I hope she gets into like a fairy phase and I can get her fairy wings and I can get her brother fairy wings and then I was like, oh my God,
Starting point is 00:22:26 and we can all have fairy wings and then all get some and then when we're in the mountains for Christmas, we'll wear our fairy wings over our winter coats and we'll take pictures outside. Well, it's always about me. I can always loop it right back to that.
Starting point is 00:22:38 And I say this as someone that constantly was dressing up for the children. Yes. Well, that's like the part that like, as my sister-in-law says, like people will compliment, like tell her, like, oh my God, you're so lucky that like, you know,
Starting point is 00:22:50 she's like so great with kids. Like, is she an animal? Jenny and she was like, and she's like, and I don't say this to them. She's like, and I don't mean this disrespectfully, like, at all. But like, I don't know how you would interact with them any differently because she's like, the way that you interact with them is not so different than how you like interact with like anyone. Like you show up like with them the way you show up with everything. And she was like, and I think a lot of people just like don't have that like gene in them because I'm like, if they're playing and doing something fun, I'm not like, oh, let them play.
Starting point is 00:23:20 I'm like, let me join it. Let me join. What do you guys do? Right. Like, people are always like, you have to like, I know that it's fostering independent play is like so important for children. And I think that'll be the hardest thing for me as a parent. So I'd be like, I'm getting FOMO. Are we coloring? Like, I would like to color as well. So. And I don't, I don't know if we actually, we talked about it on the podcast with my youngest niece, who is the same ages, Megan's nephew.
Starting point is 00:23:44 She loves calling me and just doing things will play Barbie over the phone and she'll tell me to be one of the Barbies. she's recently gotten to modern family and was telling me about it like I've never heard about it in my life and then she had to go to the back door so she just set up the phone and was like you can see it good right so bitch and what
Starting point is 00:24:05 but she loves playing like yeah it's so fun and like that shit works like when kids like when you see the family member of the friend like out of the they know who you are they're like yeah this is what's up
Starting point is 00:24:21 like so happy I'm happy. I get some QT via the phone. I am obsessed with her having a modern family family. Like, that's just like, been there. Been there, Diva. The oldest, her sister is into it now and she's going to be into whatever her sister's into. So, yeah. That's so fun. I want to watch it again. We started back up watching High Potential. Uh-huh. And they have, they're, they're kind of SUVing it where they're ripping it from the headlines. Okay. And there is an episode that we just watched that, like, we had to turn it off after this.
Starting point is 00:24:56 I was like, this is unsettling. It is essentially based off of that, like, really vainy guy who says he's, like, going to live forever. And he's like, I'm the healthiest. And he's like... That's with his father and son trading blood with him. Maybe. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:25:09 It's the man who looks like you could put, like, five IVs in his face. Like, he's just, like, absolutely bulging with veins. Yeah. But he's super skinny. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. So what he's doing, he has a sign that he must.
Starting point is 00:25:22 might be an adult now because when I first saw him, it's been a few years, but he's a teenager. And so he's like doing something, like taking blood out of his son, mixing it up and then injecting it into himself. And then with his own blood, he's taking it out of himself and injecting into his father. And they're all just like all vainy and looking like that. I hope that the son is an adult now and maybe has been able to break free of it. But like I saw him years ago. when he was first talking about it before he got very vainy, but he's gotten super vainy and sickly now. He looks like he is like gray and covered in veins,
Starting point is 00:26:03 which is like such a polar opposite. Like he looked like he's absolutely devoid of blood, but then like his veins are absolutely popping everywhere. And I know that he now is like working with a woman who he's like, I'm going to make her the healthiest woman in the world and we're going to fix everything. And he's like, you guys, do you learn about endometriosis? That's crazy. I just discovered it.
Starting point is 00:26:19 And I was like, no, you did not. But so they did an episode essentially based on like this guy and how and he, a spoiler for a procedural, but like he dies and they find out that like he's been embezzling all these like funds for like he's got like a gene therapy company that's like to make everybody healthy as they all do. And then it turns out he like bought a retirement home and they were like, oh, like that's a little odd for a man who wants to like live forever buying a retirement home does not seem to. fit with like his ethos and they go there it's abandoned and like turns out the guy was like no he like he moved all the patients and and now we just we work on we work on what he really wanted to do and it's like what the fuck did they want to do in this like dusty ugly abandoned building and he's making like humanoid robots and like they're just the actors but with prosthetics to look like like more roboty i think because there's no way these are actual like fake because like it would just be
Starting point is 00:27:20 so fucking expensive and they're like talking and like move like and it's just like so fucking creepy and I'm like turn that off this sounds like it's right up your weird ass alley most I loved the episode but as soon as it was over we had to stop we didn't watch the next one and then I was like I need to decompress and like watch some like some like silly TikToks or something but it was just like it because it was so I feel that with any of those like right from the headlines things where I'm like oh my god and like unfortunate like sorry. that man is still alive, like the real one. But it was like, oh, God, what's going on?
Starting point is 00:27:55 And the whole, the gotcha of it was a woman who used to work for him, who has the Bracca 2 gene, whose mom died from breast cancer, whose sister's currently battling breast cancer, I guess his whole gene therapy thing had invested like millions and millions and millions, maybe billions of dollars into treatment for the Bracca genes to reverse them. So, like, you could essentially cure breast cancer. and he stopped that funding instead to do the robots. And so then she poisoned his, she put arsenic in the candles, his meditation candles. And so then he lit them in and he suffocated to death. And she was like, yeah. And I love how they confess at the end of every episode. Like that's my favorite part is like they catch the person and then they like batter them just enough.
Starting point is 00:28:38 And I'm like, yeah. And I did it. And I would do it again. And I was like, I'm on her side. The last couple of deaths, I have been on that side. And like that's my favorite part about the show. because Caitlin Olson plays like a consultant. So she's like not LAPD.
Starting point is 00:28:53 They did arrest the feds earlier. And I was like, that's not how LAPD works. The feds can arrest LAPD. LAPD cannot arrest the feds. That would never fucking happen. But because she's not a police officer, sometimes she's like, I don't really want to catch this guy because like I kind of think he did the right thing.
Starting point is 00:29:09 Like that other guy sucked and I'm glad he's dead. And I'm like, okay, voice of reason, voice of reason. I watched the first couple episodes, but I went into it. it with the wrong mindset. 100%. Because I thought it was about weed. Me too.
Starting point is 00:29:23 But maybe I'll go back and watch it. You, I think, would, maybe I'm wrong because I love it and I'm projecting onto you. Her fashion all the time, because I love you. Her fashion is like so fucking fun and that is
Starting point is 00:29:40 what I think that like if we were in like an archie cartoon, that's what we would look like. That would be our outfits. I don't remember what she was wearing. If you look up Morgan High Potential Outfits, it's very me, but I think you would rock it, especially her coats. It's also based off of another show. Like it's not original IP. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:03 I'll wear this because it's like nanny adjacent. And that's how I would like my wardrobe to be when I have enough money to afford it. I truly think that that is the only thing that's stopping us from dressing exactly the same. because like if we have to concede and we can't have our dream wardrobe, then our like second and third tiers are different. But our number one tier is both infected than any. And so if I can't have that, I'll settle. But like, yeah, I want to wear this.
Starting point is 00:30:31 Like she's just so cool in her tiny little skirts. But it's a good show. I'm enjoying it. We've been watching it forever. But we had to take a break from all of the, our intense Marvel rewatch. Yeah, I've done a lot. I realized I didn't watch Thunderbolts, so I need to watch that. That's great.
Starting point is 00:30:52 Well, I'd have to watch it before the next movie, or I will be lost. Yes, I was going to say, though, you don't, it's irrelevant for Spider-Man, but yeah, not really, because... Oh, I guess you're right. It's not... Oh, my God, it makes me even more mad, because, again, all of these things, and you what, is literally the next one that ties all these together? Wonder Man. Makes me mad. but I did see him reciting the
Starting point is 00:31:16 We are rooting for you. We were all rooting for you monologue from Tyre Banks and Microsoft Not Model. And if I didn't know he could get hotter and then he's delivering it like it's like a Shakespeare soliloquy and I was like, God, you're... Love this man. Love that man.
Starting point is 00:31:32 Also speaking of Marvel, I feel like you'll know this because you're smarter than me. Did you know that baby Groot is not just regular Groot starting again from baby form. Yeah, you did.
Starting point is 00:31:47 You knew it was his, technically his son. Okay. That's what I thought. I told Mozny had no idea and I was like, well, this is definitely going to job. Melissa definitely will have picked up on this. Yeah. I like tame Grute.
Starting point is 00:31:59 Me too, because it's so angsty. Mm-hmm. So angsty. And I like that Thor got him. Mm-hmm. I literally love Grut just like, in general. Like, Groot, I have,
Starting point is 00:32:12 I feel that some, somewhat similar to Groot the same way I feel about minions where like they are real to me and if I think about it too hard that they're like not actually real, I develop like real sadness
Starting point is 00:32:26 because like I just love them. I didn't go that far but okay. It's a problem. I was also a kid who cried because she didn't get her Harry Potter letter so I'm this should not be shocking. Okay. Well this is new information. You've never shared that with me before. Are you surprised that I cried because I didn't get a hair of water letter. Yeah, of course. But you've just never shared it with me. I didn't know I needed to. I thought it was written all over my fucking face. I thought it was abundantly clear. But, yeah, oh, I'm scheduling my surgery for January. Okay. Maybe it will inspire me to put my belly button piercing back in because they go through your belly button. And maybe I'll, maybe I'll want to like adorn it a little. Maybe I'll want to bring it back. It is cute. I could definitely still fit something in there too.
Starting point is 00:33:12 Okay. Did you ever get yours done? No, you were a dancer. But also, Megan. No, well, yeah. I don't like needles. And I got my ears pierced when I was a baby, so I didn't even know. Are they even? Yeah, a doctor did then. Like, my pediatrician did then. I know that, like, I will specifically say for white people, white people are like a gassed, a gassed that people do.
Starting point is 00:33:37 And they're like, oh my gosh, no. I have to say, starting from the age of five years, old. I looked at my friends who got their fucking ears pierced as a baby. And I said, I don't know why the fuck my parents didn't do that for me. Like, my God, I want that. You're getting stabbed all the time as a baby. Yeah, without any sparkles. Right. Like, what?
Starting point is 00:33:57 Yeah, and I'm like, you're instead going to wait until your kid is like 10 and then take them to Claire's. And remember it? Yeah, so like, they can exactly, they can remember the pain. They can go to Claire's with a 17 year old with like an ear piercing gun that is so much more traumatizing for your ear. Like, yeah, that's much, much, much better call. But like, I don't know. I've, but I say this is someone who like loves your
Starting point is 00:34:18 piercings and has areas pierced. So like maybe if someone like got them done as a baby and then took them out and like didn't like that they had like a scar or whatever. But I'm like, I just, it just feels like such a scar is a little dot dot. Yeah. Like I guess not even necessarily. Can you even see that? No. My. Yeah. My third hole like you can't even see any any hole. And it is closed up. But yeah, I'm like kind of epic. I was so. fucking jealous of those kids. And I was like, and I would put on stick on earrings like every day. And of course they would never stick. And it wasn't the same. And then I was terrified. There's a specific doctor here that does it. Oh. Like people take their babies. That's their job. That's a fun specialty. I'm a doctor and I do it. Yeah. I mean, I just think it's, I'm getting you the polio vaccine because I love you and I care about you. I'm getting your ears pierced because like they're so cute. And if you don't like them, you can take them out. Like, I'm just, I'm manifesting that I hope you love this vibe. So, I'm a fan.

Luxury sales claim based on S&P Global Mobility, Canadian New Vehicle Total Registrations for calendar year 2025
Starting point is 00:35:55 for the Cadillac definition of luxury. I told you I'm back on my reading game. Mm-hmm. And the last update I had was I finished my book, Atmosphere, which was fantastic. And you're starting a book that you're like, it'll be second tier. Yes, which is called Funny Story by Emily Henry.
Starting point is 00:36:15 And I wasn't sure I was going to be an Emily Henry girl. And I don't necessarily know that I, I am, but I'm almost 100 pages in, and I've made like a big turn. And Becky Habersburg, she did tell me that this would happen. She said, just give it more time. It took me about this many pages in to get, for me to get into it. And I trust her because we have the same taste in a lot of things. And so then I was like, okay, Becky, I will keep reading.
Starting point is 00:36:39 And I was like, it's happening. And I need to reply to her DM to be like, you're right. It did happen. And I don't need to like the main character in order to like a book. I don't have to find them like whatever. But I just have to, like, believe that they're a person. Like, they just have to be a character. And, like, I have it sometimes when something is in first person, it's really fucking
Starting point is 00:37:01 hard to get to know the character because it is kind of like a self-insert. Like, you know a lot more about everyone else they interact with. Yeah, it's either self-insert or since you're just getting one perspective, you know that it's a jaded perspective because we don't know what's actually going on in the other character's brain. But the whole thing with her is that, like, there just was not a lot to her. Like, I felt like I knew things about her, but I'm like, but I don't like know her. Like, there's not, like, there isn't like a perception of her because, again, it's being told from her.
Starting point is 00:37:34 And all the other characters, it just feel like far more well-rounded. And I'm also nothing like this girl. Like, this girl seems lovely. I am, I could not be farther from her. I am like the hot mess, golden retriever boy that she will inevitably be falling for. and I was like, him and I, he and I, I see him. We are the same. But now it's starting to feel like, A, it's, again, less of just her internal monologue.
Starting point is 00:37:57 And she's interacting with people more. And, like, she's writing, like, cute things and their interactions are very, like, sweet and cute. It does feel very, like, insert whatever person you want here for it. So I have questions because I know people are, like, so mad about certain adaptations of, like, characters, like, in movies or whatever. Like, Arnold Schwarzenegger, I don't even know what it is. Sorry. not Arnold. What's his son's name? What's his name? Patrick. I'm so sorry. Arnold Schwarzenegger is, in fact, not in a, like, young adult romcom. Patrick Schwarzenegger is this, and the people are, like, livid and they're so mad. And I'm sure that one is legitimate because, like, why is Patrick Schwarzenegger that? But, like, for this one, it is so, I can see why they're so popular because, like, it kind of just, like, paints a picture with, like, very faint watercolor. So, like, you have, like, if you skip over it, like you can really have it be whoever you want and like you can imagine it however you want
Starting point is 00:38:52 which I enjoy because I was getting very irritated that she kept reminding me that her ex-boyfriend her ex-fiancee was blonde like nine times over and over again I was like girl stop yuck yuck don't bring me into your past problems like disgusting but it's it's like getting cute and I think part of the reason why like she was so one note is like I don't think she knows herself at all like I think she's and so I'm like oh okay so I'm enjoying it's very much as Becky described it, like, a popcorn beach read. And I was like, perfect. Emily Henry Wright.
Starting point is 00:39:22 Yeah. And I don't want to be like, like, incontolable sobbing over how I was with the atmosphere again. Mm-hmm. But yeah, I'll report back. And I know it's not everybody's favorite Emily Henry book. But I'll give most books a chance, unless it's about a boy or written by a boy. Ugh. I'm out.
Starting point is 00:39:38 So boring. I don't like it. I'm uninterested. Yeah, I don't really read things or watch things. I take a long height of this. There's a big main character. It's just like, why? Right.
Starting point is 00:39:53 Like, we make everything better. And so if I have to, like, follow a man, I just, I can't. Like, you could give me the worst movie ever made starring, like, four women. And you could give me, like, a, like, literal record-breaking Oscar-nominated winning, Academy Award-winning film with two men, I don't, 12 angry men will never be me. I can't watch that many men. But yeah, that's all my fun stuff. Okay.
Starting point is 00:40:21 Well, we haven't done this in a while, but when we used to have two different podcasts, we had, or we still have two different podcasts. And we had a plethora of podcasts. We had a show called But Am I Wrong. We kind of merged Don't Blame Me and But Am I Wrong together. And we would do rants on that show. At first, it was like, am I wrong in the situation? But our rants, they were always right. So it was just turned into we're ranting.
Starting point is 00:40:45 So I have a long list for this past week. First I'm going to start with Cash Patel, the FBI director. He made a decision to remove bestiality as an automatic disqualifier for the FBI job. And it really drew bipartisan disbelief. After he said the change was intended to protect trafficking victims, coerced into sexual acts with animals. And if that is the case, then why don't you just explicitly say, like, people that have been trafficked.
Starting point is 00:41:19 That has been stricken from the record, but specifically saying, if you engaged in bestiality, it's okay. And then he's got people on Congress for asking him if he's into beastiality. People from his own party. If your own party is sitting up and asking you things, sitting up in Congress and they're, like, arguing with you, you're most likely on the wrong side completely. Yeah, what side are you even on? Right. This makes a lot of sense why I kept seeing tweets of being like on a scale from Chris,
Starting point is 00:41:55 on a scale from Christyneum to catch Patel, how much do you like dogs? Mm. And I'm not me. And I was like, I didn't see that. I was like, oh, I don't assume he did something weird, but that's certainly not where I thought. But to be fair, that is the two extremes. Yeah, very much. So speaking of sitting up in Congress, I know that turtles live for a very long time, but whoever's propping up Mitch McConnell, please stop.
Starting point is 00:42:23 Like, let this man rest in hell. He also was on the floor and appeared to need assistance from fellow Republicans after he voted, quote unquote, the wrong way with Democrats. So, you know, if he's going to keep doing that, he can stay. but otherwise. But don't you think it's illegal when they were like, no. If they stopped him, yes, that is illegal. They did.
Starting point is 00:42:48 And they had him do it again. And I was like, also, by the way, the second time he said like four or whatever, nay, no, whatever the affirmative or negative that he was supposed to say that they wanted him to. The second time he spoke sounded very different. I said, I don't even know if that was him. I think someone might have just opened. Someone pulled the string for his mouth. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:05 Because he has no teeth. And also maybe he had like, maybe he had a stroke and like it made him a good person. Like he had like a It can reverse. So I am Everyone's like I saw those tweets of people being like wow like liberals are you going to say anything now that you kept saying you thought he was dead and it's like well I am sorry I still think he's dead it's not all there I am sorry he did not die like I'm sorry I was wrong I'm sorry that he but like I'm just like this has to It has to end at some point. Yes not only is this like elder abuse this is like
Starting point is 00:43:41 This is like so many issues and things involved that I'm like and people are like, yeah, Joe Biden, like they hit his health problems. I go, you have to be kidding me. Joe Biden can still run laps. Yeah, you have to be kidding. That is a spiral. Shut up. I don't even think that like even with the largest font, Mitch McConnell can use his cell phone. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:02 At all. I don't even think he could use a rotary phone at this point. He doesn't know where he is. He doesn't know what he's doing. He's not only wearing diapers, someone is changing them for him. someone is wiping his ass. Like, and truthfully, I do think. Unlike Trump, who.
Starting point is 00:44:16 No, he won't let anyone touch it. He won't let anyone touch his ass, so. Yeah. And so that's why he's got saggy bottom. Saggy bottom jeans. You can literally see people's face upturned. When like three people standing behind him all make the same face at the same time, we know what's happening. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:32 Yeah, we do. We do. But I'm mostly convinced that he is, this is a sack of whatever, like, you know, the inserts that you put in to shoes to keep them propped up in a skin suit. Like, I don't know. This is weekend at Burmese. Whoever's propping him up, please stop. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Oh, literally, yes. Yeah. And then we've got Jasmine Crockett, another politician. And look, we all had high hopes for this woman, but an incident happened last year where she put a sour taste in my mouth. And I didn't say anything publicly because it's something. that happened to somebody that I know in real life and it was not a public incident that happened
Starting point is 00:45:16 and so since then I've not liked her and now she's gone up on stage an ugly-ass outfit mind you to hand known abuser Chris Brown and didler defender Usher which I hate to say because I used to love Usher to announce that Chris Brown and Usher would both have their names entered
Starting point is 00:45:39 in the congressional record, a ceremonial honor. Why? Like, they're not from Texas. That's my, I know that that's not the most important question, but like that is like the part that I, all of it's bad, but that's the part that like my brain can't compute because I'm like, Texas. Neither if you were. Why Texas? Because she, she just wanted to get up there in her ugly ass outfit. She really, in my mind, she really wanted to be one of those women that are getting hunched on up there on stage. when she's like, that's going to go too far. Yeah, I opened my phone and I saw that and I immediately said, no, and then I closed my phone.
Starting point is 00:46:16 It was not surprising to me. I'm not, no, it was not, it was not that it was surprising, but it was just so deeply unnecessary. Like, you could have just gone to the concert and, like, tried to get up on stage. I don't endorse that either at all, but, like, you had to award him. And now I have to get all these fucking Chris Brown defendants. or think pieces on my, like, and it just pisses me off. And it's just one of those things that I'm like, oh my God, you, you, why would you knowingly be like, this is what I'm aligning with?
Starting point is 00:46:50 Like, what? Like, again, like, there's lots of people who will be like, slightly quieter Chris Brown and like, Torrey Lane's fans and shit. But, like, you wanted everybody to know. And put it in the congressional record. Yeah. That you signed. Like, what?
Starting point is 00:47:10 Like, I don't think you should be a fan of him. But, like, if you're going to, like, I really don't think you need to, like, give him a political honor. Like, what? Like, it's just, it's just so fucking stupid. Like, so fucking stupid. Yeah. And then Ed Shearing, and I'm sure you all know what's going on. So I'm going beyond thinking out loud here.
Starting point is 00:47:29 But, like, don't pull that a political crap when you performed at a concert for Ukraine. Mm-hmm. That was political, it's not uncomfortable or anti-Semitic to say free Palestine. And also Robert Kraft. If it was about anti-Semitism, why are you allowing Kanye West to happily perform at all your stadiums? Now Robert Kraft has come out today saying that him and Ed Sharon are donating $2 million to fight this humanitarian crisis in Gaza. And they're saying that all lives are worth protecting. I wonder who they're donating it to. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:48:10 He's also like, he's like a big Epstein boy. Like, big old Epstein guy. And so, yeah, and here's the thing that, like, I think it's totally, like, not liking MacLamore and, like, not thinking he should have ever been on the tour because of that costume that was offensive. That was anti-Semit. Yes, 100%. And, like, you don't have to accept that apology.
Starting point is 00:48:35 Like, that, you don't have to. like align with it at all. You can like still harbor all of that. But like, unfortunately, like, that's not why he's kicked off the tour. He's kicked off the tour for San Free Palestine. And so I, I think that like that part is, you can call him anti-Semitic, but that is not it. Dysemitic. And so. And you have Kanye West performing. Exactly. And it's just one of those things. Headlining concerts. I wonder. And every. single one of Ed Sheeran's openers have dropped out. They all dropped down.
Starting point is 00:49:11 Even his own band. Yes. Which also apparently, I don't know if it was in his band or it was one of the openers is like they're Irish, which I was like, first of all, you... The Irish are going in. I don't know if you watched any of the news statements that are like the
Starting point is 00:49:27 journalists on their news. They are going in on him. Oh yeah. Oh, yeah. But like one of the members of a again, I don't know if it was his band or one of the openers, is like one of the founding members of like the
Starting point is 00:49:42 Irish Gaza like a line, like something on those lines. I'm just like, what did you? Like, and again, he's like trying to be like, oh, no, I'm just like, I'm, I'm apolitical. And I'm like, you're not you're not a political. There's no such things being apolitical.
Starting point is 00:49:58 No, also because like... People say that about like Dolly Parton. And I'm like, she didn't talk about politics, but she, you knew where she stood because of her actions. She's apolitical if you're dumb. Because she also talked shit about like, she's like, I don't trust any politician, which we shouldn't. We shouldn't trust politicians. She's like, I don't trust any of them, but this is where I stand on this issue.
Starting point is 00:50:24 Yes. Like, if you can't read between the lines and also see where she puts her money and, like, donates her money and what she does, like, she was not for the Republican ever. And if you hear how the other family members, especially her sister that is like the one that she wrote the cookbook with and Moore's front facing, that woman's talking shit about Trump every single day. She's like, I think when they asked her sister about like renaming the airport in Tennessee to national airport to the Dali Park in airport, she's like, I love it. They should definitely do that. And since we're into naming, renaming things, we should just rename you. United States to the United States of Dolly Part.
Starting point is 00:51:07 Love that. See? Like I, it's just, I can't when people say it. Because I'm like, you're just, you don't, the literacy, you're just not understanding this. And the same way that people are like, you know, Morgan Wallen hasn't said that he's a Republican. I go, he doesn't have to say.
Starting point is 00:51:23 Yeah. He doesn't have to. People don't, you, you can see the way that people live where they stand. Yeah. That's a lot of times when people are like, oh, I was shocked that this person came out to be a Republican. Have you actually listened to the words that are coming out their mouth? Because never have I been shocked.
Starting point is 00:51:39 No. No. No. Yeah. I just, I just can't imagine. Like, he is, and I've been seeing on Reddit, people being like, anyone have any songs that have, like, the same tempo as like, Ed Sharon's songs. Because everybody's changing their first dance songs. And I was like, man, you're about to lose your biggest gig, which is wedding music.
Starting point is 00:51:58 Now I'm going to have to switch over to a Bruno Marr song. I almost commented that. I said, pick a Bruno Mars song. song, any Brunom art song. Yeah, like, I, as someone who, like, always accurately guesses, like, which edge year and songs people are going to use for their weddings, I'm going to have to expand my guessing pool as well now. Some songs aren't, they sound like their wedding songs, but they're actually not songs you should be using at your wedding. No, that happens with the 1975 as well. There's a song called It's Not Living if it's not with you. And it's a beautiful
Starting point is 00:52:28 song. And it's like, essentially, I don't want to do this life. If I don't do with you, you're what's make life worth living. It is, in fact, about heroin. But people are like, oh, so romantic. I'm like, there's a lot of Whitney Houston songs that people use. And it's like, this is about being the side chick. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I will forget which specific Whitney Houston song I saw someone use in the background of like one of their wedding videos. Probably saving all my love for you. And I just opened the comments and nobody knew. And I was like, I'm not going to, I'm not going to say anything. I don't want to. There are enough comments here.
Starting point is 00:53:00 I don't want to hurt your feelings. You clearly have no idea. Then my love. last one for this week is Archibald Manning, or as he goes by Arch, I don't know why you wouldn't go by Archie, but one of the manning... They need to stop, by the way. There's two fucking many of them. I mean, yeah, and the father, this kid's father also played football. He just wasn't good as the other two brothers, but he's a football player for Texas. And if you don't know, Holly Roe was interviewing his coach after the game and the coach just like the coach was
Starting point is 00:53:37 hype off the game and he was rude where he just like left her mid interview it was rude but like you can like it's something where you can just like roll it off your shoulders and it's fine whatever he went off to celebrate with the team then
Starting point is 00:53:52 Arch Jabal was asked about it during a press conference and he was like yeah y'all see those memes the one where they, and it's an AI video too. The one where coach slaps her, that was funny. And he starts cracking up. And also the press people who are full adults with, you know, connecting brain tissues are laughing along too.
Starting point is 00:54:21 Meanwhile, like, Holly never said anything about the coach after it. She didn't even react. She never made a comment out of it. And people are just making all these. AI generated videos. Holly is beloved in sports. She is one of, like she does male sideline reporting too,
Starting point is 00:54:40 but like in women's sports, she is super beloved by everyone. And this woman has like survived so much, survived breast cancer, doing all that, like in front of cameras over the years. She has been through so much this week. While all this is going on,
Starting point is 00:54:59 she's burying her mother. The guillotine for these men. Right. Like, God, being a woman is awful. Being a woman in sports. Like, and the fact that those are your colleagues and peers who are laughing at that at what he's saying to, like, impress a fucking college age, like, douche kid. Like, it's just, like, so fucked. And you can just see, like, the enabling of all of it that, like, this is the age where you course, I mean, should have been course corrected a lot earlier.
Starting point is 00:55:29 But this is the age for that. But, like, no. Now you're making, like, kids without their kids who've gotten hit many fucking times without their brains even being fully developed, making them, like, put on a pedestal in the sense that like, ha-ha, whatever they say. It's funny. Right. And he's also, like, put on a higher pedestal because of his last name, too. And also, like, cool, let's make a joke and, like, laugh about a man beating a woman and then we'll have another man, like, laugh about how funny that is in a profession that has an incredibly insanely high rate of beating their wives and girlfriends. and CTE having a direct link in cause to violence and aggression. Cool. Cool.
Starting point is 00:56:07 They're making fun of the players that are wearing those guardian caps. Oh my God, it made me so mad. I was literally starting to learn the names of the guys who are wearing the guardian caps so I can root for them regardless of what fucking team they're on because I'm like... Unless they're a cowboy. Oh, I've never seen anything about a cowboy. Well, I hate that man who owns them, so fuck now.
Starting point is 00:56:26 Yeah, me too. It's from Arkansas. Yeah. It's so fucked. And it's one of those things where it's like there is no like checks and balances of it because like there is no repercussion. And like there is no like social effect of it. Like it's just like, oh, it's still it's fine. It's he he ha ha, whatever. And I'm like, so scary. In Toronto, every arrival is a statement and nothing says it better than this. Cadillac Optic was the number one selling luxury EV in Canada for 2025. Find your rhythm across a seamless 33 inch display and an immersive 19 speaker AKG surround audio system. This city demands a. agility, and optic delivers with precision to make every drive extraordinary. Let's take the Cadillac.
Starting point is 00:57:10 Find out more at Cadillac Canada.ca. Luxury sales claim based on S&P Global Mobility Canadian New Vehicle Total Registrations for calendar year 2025 for the Cadillac definition of luxury. Can I give one rant of mine? Yep. I think that, A, we need, gambling is, we need to stop gambling, like point blank. It is crazy. There was an ad.
Starting point is 00:57:32 So this is a couple of months ago. there was one for baseball cards and there's like a show hey one that you have to like, you know, it's like Willie Wonka, like, which one are you going to get? And I turned to my brother-in-law and I said, oh my God, getting into gambling early. And my nephew, six years old, goes, what's gambling? I want to do it? And I was like, oh my God. Like, no, because he likes baseball cards.
Starting point is 00:57:52 But like, seeing the normalization of this, I like cannot stress enough. Like, this is like if like there was just like a government overhaul to be like, we used to talk about, like, I can't believe they used to advertise cigarettes and say like, six. regrets, like, aren't bad. I cannot stress to you how much worse. They're used to during pregnancy, so you wouldn't have a fat baby. I cannot stress to you guys how much worse gambling is. Like, gambling has the, like, highest mortality rate of, like, any addiction. And do you know what the thing is? Like, so people who are intravenous drug users, which is another very, very high one, those people,
Starting point is 00:58:24 they, when they die, just they die. When people are in gambling debt and addiction, those men, that is a direct funnel to family annihilators. It is a direct funnel to, I have lost my job, I have lost my money, I have shame, I must kill my whole family and myself. and like it's just it's so dark it's so fucking sad and like months ago there was a guy who was like millions of dollars in fucking like sports betting like draft kings debt or whatever and then they had a current player i think it was a current play send him like a personalized video being like what are you going to bet on next like called him by his name and i was like this should be motherfucking illegal and now that we're back to watching for our primetime shows we see the fucking commercials and the commercials for fucking calci and polly market with these current playing athletes should be illegal. This feels like insider fucking trading. This feels like betting on the success and the outcome of this. Like you're not allowed to bet on your own games.
Starting point is 00:59:21 Why are you allowed to endorse your fans and audiences to bet across all of it? Sue Bird was in one and I was like, you're fucking kidding me. Devastating. I love Suebert up and down. Devastating. They're getting, they're paying so much to like older. I mean, Lisa Leslie's in one too for draft games. And they're also talking.
Starting point is 00:59:40 talking about them because I think it might be built into their contracts because they're also talking about them during the like live shows that they do. So I think that certain play or certain commentators have to do their own individual commercials too because it's built into what they're doing on the commentary. Well, now they're advertising in these fucking games. And so now I'm like, oh, cool. So you're contract while the game is and like use this code. Yes. So I'm like, oh, cool. So your contract, let's say, with the chargers, not only involves press days.
Starting point is 01:00:14 It involves you having to encourage people to vote and to not just vote. You have to encourage people to gamble and put money on things. And then on these like same platforms, and then we have like the app, like the fact that it's like exploding in this way. And now they're like, every man is sports betting. And so now we need to get girls into it. Let's see if they can do it on like gamble on the Emmys, gamble on this, gamble on this. And no, now you can also, in fact, gamble on whether, how many counts of murder you think Lindsay Clancy will get if you are Amanda Hirsch from Not Skinny but Not Fat? And I cannot stress to everyone who like has no idea because she's celebrities on her podcast all the girl is a fucking like Sandy Hook denier. Like she is the worst of the motherfucking worst and it's not out of character at all. But then there's like a fucking what's her name? The Bostics. The that Lauren Bostick and her husband, Dear Media. They launched a whole fucking Polly Market podcast. cast that's like each episode's like hosted by different people and like you're like take let's bet on
Starting point is 01:01:15 this whatever they're doing ones for love island that's what the love island fan base everyone said this like past season like all these fucking men who are like oh i know like we're gonna make sure casey ones and all that shit i'm like oh my god you're putting money on this fucking tv show like you're trying to ruin everything that we love with fucking gambling and like sports betting and they're desperately desperately desperately trying to get girls to do this and get be like oh this is funny and i cannot stress to you enough do not fucking do it if you want to like fantasy football with your friends and you print out like a little thing of you write all that down whatever and you and your friends put $20 cash into a pot or whatever but like do not be putting
Starting point is 01:01:48 your money on these fucking apps and with a with a press of a button suddenly you are gambling and betting like we we used to be a country we used to have laws you used to not even do it's like gamble real money on like solitaire unless you had like you signed your law all of this kind of fucking shit that I'm like this is devastating and now we have this is not okay Like it's advertised everywhere and it makes me so fucking mad. Oh, and like, oh, how many, like over or under how many immigrants do you think Trump is going to deport? What? What?
Starting point is 01:02:19 Yep. That's how they get you in. They're also, like, in apps that are specifically for investing. And then they've added another tab for sports vetting or any betting really. They also, there's an account that I follow online that they give, like, really good sports statistics. Like I just thought it was just like a sports statistic and they're just, they're always like download our app so you can have the statistics whenever you go.
Starting point is 01:02:48 So I get, I download the app because I like to like analyze things. It's a sports betting app. And then, and I'm using it like just to look at the numbers for women's sports. And then I see there's like a comment tab and they're just men talking shit about women that like, oh, that bitch just miss. this layup and stuff. And like it's very disgusting. That's a lot of men that don't even watch the sport are just betting on the sport.
Starting point is 01:03:17 And then also like they're messaging the athletes and saying really mean disgusting things. Like Courtney Williams actually, a lot of the athletes don't even go into their DMs. Whatever. They think they're calling it to spam now, the tab. But like Courtney Williams, she got a really like a very like a little. voice memo from a man that was just yelling at her talking about how she blew the game for him and all this bullshit. And then she just played it. And then he responded back. And then she's like, I'm talking back to this man because I don't want him to think that he has power over me.
Starting point is 01:03:57 Yeah. It's so fun. And I've even said it before this like blew up like this. I remember like watching a draft with Mots and like we were at like a party or whatever because like he doesn't follow it that closely but like and I remember a kid came on the screen and I was like oh my god how old is he and it was like these like people in this party were like reacting to him be like oh my god not this fucking idiot and then it's like he's like 19 years old and like 20 years old he's like a kid and he's getting drafted and I was like oh my god he's not emotionally ready for the fact that like here are fully grown adults like booing him that he cannot hear on a TV like this is just like such a fucked up sort of thing it's like hey you get to live your dream but like people
Starting point is 01:04:37 are going to fucking hate you and blame you for all this shit. And then, like, also knowing, like, the weight that it must carry, knowing, again, like, how domestic violence rates take up when football games do bad. Like, there are, like, real world consequences of this. That's, like, you're a fucking kid living your dream. Like, you are, like, you're an astronaut. Like, you are, you are, like, a kid, you got to write down what you wanted to do when you're five years old, and you're one of the very few people who get to do that thing. It should be the best day of your life all the time. But this like you have all these things. Now people have money weighing on. They've all of this kind of shit that I'm like, that is not a pressure that should ever, ever be put on
Starting point is 01:05:14 anybody. Like regardless of age, but like, a lot of them are so fucking young that I'm like, no, this is such a, such a fucked up, fucked up, fucked up sort of thing. And if I could give any advice to anyone who is single, who is dating specifically men, do not date a man who's into sports betting. Like, you want to spend, I think, Mott's in total. for work, I think they get like a credit to like do whatever. He's like $50 is like all he's ever done ever. Like that is like the most. And then he'll play fantasy football with his friends.
Starting point is 01:05:47 But every year he's like trying to cut another league because he's like, this is so much effort. This is so much. But like that is it is such a huge massive, massive red flag. Like I think in general that like if someone can if that's their number one. If they're just, they love that, they love, love, love that. Especially if they don't actually even love the sport. No, exactly.
Starting point is 01:06:11 It's like if you love, love sports betting like that, you really love other people being control of your money and your emotions and your reactions and your reactions to it. And then all that tells me as someone who would be dating you is I'm going to have to pick up those fucking pieces. You're completely disregulated. So, God, it pisses me off. I feel good about that. I feel good about it. I feel cathartic. Good rants.
Starting point is 01:06:35 Good rants. Oh, yeah, that fucking Sydney's weeney one. I did think that was funny that the tagline of that was like all sports, like no politics. And Mott's like,
Starting point is 01:06:44 well, I guess it's good they're not doing betting on politics because I think that's really bad. And I was like, if they really were passionate about that, they would like start a campaign to like petition the Senate about how we shouldn't be allowed to do that.
Starting point is 01:06:56 They wouldn't just like make another sports betting at. And Mott's like, oh, good point. They don't mean that at all. And I go, no, they don't mean that at all. And it was also just her getting to dig in. I've never seen someone so naked without an ounce of sex appeal.
Starting point is 01:07:11 That's what a lot of people were saying. I didn't watch the, I just read the articles and saw images. I didn't watch it. Oh, my God. But people were like, she's not even sexy. No, I truly think that like Gal Godot might have given about her performance. Like, it was a level that I was like, hello? Like, are the light, she was being propped up.
Starting point is 01:07:33 to Mitch McConnell. I was like, are you, is anyone in there? She goes, these are my titties. Do you want to see? It was, it was like, that's all her personality is her tities. Yeah. And then she's like, I really hate when people just like objectify me into my tithies. By the way, would you like to buy my bathwater? What? And I'm going to go tongue down scooter brawn. By the way, if you were like the epitome of like sex appeal, you would not be, you would not be with scooter brawn. You would be able to pull someone. But, like, I mean, granted, I guess Charlotte Johansson is with Colin Jost. But, like, at least he seems nice. Yeah, and, like, smart.
Starting point is 01:08:08 Yeah. Like, really smart. And funny. Yeah, no, he's, like, very smart and funny. I don't think he's funny. I think she thinks he's funny. Yes, yes. I don't, I'm, I'm not my, I think she laughs, which is great for her.
Starting point is 01:08:21 Yeah. But, like, Scooter Braun. Okay. Yuck. Yuck. All right. That's the end of our episode. Oh, I forgot to tell you.
Starting point is 01:08:31 I might have jury duty next week, so don't know if one episode is going to be. Okay. That's for, I was supposed to have it when I was deep in the bronchitis and then got pushed back. And then I got a letter in the middle. I was like, oops, forgot. Yeah. So we might be here next week. Might not keep you posted.
Starting point is 01:08:51 We'll see. We'll see. What if they sequester you? There's no big profile cases like that, though, coming up. We would know. Right? I don't know. I'll be sad if they sequester you.
Starting point is 01:09:03 I would be sad too. Yeah. What don't I ever do? I know. Like, are you not allowed to, like, can I, can we have, like, I'm trying to think of what the regular word is for this because it's not the one I mean. But, like, can you have, like, supervised visits with friends where they, like, don't talk. Because you know the word I'm thinking of that I was like, it's not that. But, like, can you have, like, if they, like, make sure we don't talk about that, but, like, can I just, like, come over to your hotel?
Starting point is 01:09:25 We can bring movies? Like, are they going to, like, sequester you in, like, the Cecil Hotel, like, by yourself? Ew. Isn't that right by the courthouse? Yeah. I don't go there. No, a lot of stairs. Okay. Well, until maybe next week, we'll see. Yeah, so, and then Thursday, we are watching Spider-Man brand new day. So join us for But Am I Watching. All right. Goodbye.
Starting point is 01:09:51 This is a Sister Sign production hosted by me, Megan Rinks. And me, Melissa DeMontz, plus Diamond imprint Productions. Post-production by Coco Lorenz. Production Assistance by Melanie D. Watson. And music by Ryan Hunter and Giacomo Picasso.
