Starting point is 00:00:02 Welcome to a new episode of Don't Blame Me. I'm Melissa. I'm Megan. And together, we are a dynamic duo of two very opinionated bitches. We, on this show, we give advice. We talk pop culture. We catch people up with our own lives. Talk politics.
Starting point is 00:00:25 We got a little bit of everything. This week, I was serving on a jury. And that's wrapped up so I can talk. about it a little bit. Hell yeah. What's going on with you? And my weekend was mostly consisted of entertaining a three-year-old for her birthday and my endeavors with the Elsa cake.
Starting point is 00:00:45 Also share my thoughts about a different world. Mm-hmm. And then we get into some advice. We talk about the difficulties of dealing with infertility and people pitying you. And we also talk about. What the writer has sort of described as the most run-through man in the world is her future husband. And how do we deal with that? She might work with a few people that you slept with.
Starting point is 00:01:13 And you're actually, it's not even the technical definition of a few. It's more than a few. I was just given on the little taste so they continue listening. If you want us to give you advice, how do they participate, Megan? You can give us a call at 310-994-0976. you can leave us a voice memo at our email address at meganpodcast at gmail.com. You can type it out and send it to the same email address or the easiest way to do it is you can fill out the form listed in the show note. All right, let's get into it.
Starting point is 00:01:47 What does a sunny getaway with Air Canada sound like? Sunny Jamaica moves to its own rhythm. Rio comes alive long after the sun goes down. Philippines slows everything down. And just when you think you've heard it all, there's sunny Lima. However you imagine your sunny escape, Air Canada can take you there.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Book hot fairs and vacation packages today. Nice travels. All right, let's get into advice. First up, one person is 25 she-her. I'm happily married and we've been trying for a baby for over a year. I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility, and last month I did get pregnant and miscarried. Meanwhile, everyone around me is pregnant first try or by accident. My cousin's wife got pregnant, and she has so much pity for me, I hate it.
Starting point is 00:02:52 She doesn't know about the miscarriage, but she found out about my infertility. She told me if it's triggering to come to my baby shower, you don't have to. And I truly was so upset. She has no right to bring it up when I've never even talked about it with her. How do I stop being bitter and resenting everyone? I kind of think it's okay to be bitter about this, I think as long as you acknowledge that you're resenting people and that you're being bitter, like, it's a very normal reaction and a normal feeling. And like if I was your friend on the other
Starting point is 00:03:19 side of it, because like I think that she was trying to be well-meaning. Yeah, I think it was a well-meaning thing. And I think you know that it was a well-meaning thing, but like it's not at all what you wanted, which is also totally valid. And I also think that like sometimes when you're going through like hard shit, you're like, I don't have the capacity to be like, this is what I need from people. Like, I just don't want to talk about, like, you just don't have the bandwidth for like any of that. Um, but I think that she was trying to be considerate and it did not land and it made you feel shitty. And I think that that will not change that she does not want to make you feel shitty. Like I, I, if, if you like lashed out at me or got pissed at me or like, stop talking to me for a while because of this and then a while later we regroup and you tell me about this, I'd be like, yeah, totally. Like, whatever reaction you have to it, I was trying to be helpful. It wasn't helpful. And so whatever you then need to do that will be helpful, like, go for it. If that means means, means, means, means, means, like you don't want to talk to me. You want to be mad at me. You want any of those kinds of things. Like, I think that I don't think that you can control feeling like bitter and, uh, resentful of people. But I think like, it's important that you acknowledge and you name those feelings. And in moments where you might be able to vocalize that and verbalize that just kind of as like a overarching statement. to people, like, to like your partner or whatever and being like, can you just tell them I don't want to talk about it or like just tell them this, anything like that? I just, I don't think anybody will resent you for having these feelings, especially because like you know that you're having these feelings. And I think it's good to name to name that. Yeah, I think it's okay. It's definitely okay for you to feel what you're feeling and you should feel those feelings. And also if you don't want to be the one to communicate to others, because, I'm guessing she heard about this from somebody else in the family.
Starting point is 00:05:11 So if you don't want to be the one to communicate, tell your partner tell somebody else in your family, like, this is how I'm feeling. Please tell people don't mention it or things like that. And also tell people don't pity me. Like, this is something that I'm going through. I don't understand what it is or I do understand what it is. But I don't want people to look at me differently. You can make I want people to act like nothing has, like nothing happened. like just carry on and then you might change your mind and want to do that. But like I think your cousin's,
Starting point is 00:05:44 I think cousin's wife you said took a shot in the dark of trying to be supportive and it didn't land. And if it was me, I'd be like, that was a risk that I took. That's on me. And it did not work the way that I wanted it to. And like if if she was calling, the advice I would give her is talk to your partner first. Like talk like, you know, any, any time that like I have, I've like heard that, There's like, just, I have been on the side of, like, hearing from people who are dealing with it, like, personally. And then I've also been on the side of, like, hearing of it from people who their partner is dealing with it. And then it's like, hey, this is how we want. We're all hanging out. This is how they want this to operate. And, like, we'll never talk about it. And then years later, they'll bring it up to, they'll mention something in passing. And I'm, I'm just listening. Like, there's, I think that if it helps you know that, like, the, the feeling of pity is because you're resenting them. It comes from a good place, but that doesn't mean that you have to receive it in a positive way. And everybody deals with things in different types of way. And like, for instance, I knew somebody that had gone through something similar as you. And they hate it when people would reach out to them and be like, hey, I know that you're going through a lot, but I'm here to talk.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Like, they didn't like even people saying anything. they would prefer like for like say anything in that way they would have preferred for the person just to pick up the phone and be like hey what are you doing let's go out and get something to eat so everybody's different i think if you communicate how you want to process it and it can be a today thing like today this is what i want to do and this is what i don't want to do but if you want support from your friends and family feel free to let them know but if you also don't want them to support also feel free to let them know also feel free to let them know or go through your partner because people don't know how to handle this. And I'm sure you don't know how to handle it either. And you don't know what like today, this might trigger something when it wouldn't have yesterday. Yeah, totally. And like I will always, I would, if I'm,
Starting point is 00:07:53 if I'm the friend in the situation, like my feelings backseat. Because the goal of everything that I'm doing is trying to help you. If that is not fucking helping you, you have my permission free rank. to like be an absolute bitch to me. Like it's okay. Like this is something like I can't have like an ego around trying to help trying to be there for you and having that not go over well.
Starting point is 00:08:15 Like that's not it's not about me. If I'm trying to be there for you and you're not feeling that and that is not feeling good for you. I don't get to have like, well, that hurts my feelings. And it goes, bitch. I wasn't. I was doing this thing for you for this person. And they didn't receive it in that way.
Starting point is 00:08:28 I don't get, I don't get to have a like I don't get to be like pouty and bitch like about that. like, no, no, when you want to be there for someone and they're going through something tough, like, you do whatever it is that you can. And I don't think it's about you to mitigate these emotions to people. And I think, like, part of that is acknowledging that it's okay to feel these things. And like, you don't have to see anyone and hang out people that you don't want to. If you're like, well, I just can't be normal at this, whatever, don't fucking go. You don't have to go. Like, you don't have to do any of those things and you don't have to like, you're allowed to want everybody else to act like nothing's happened, but know that you can't act like. like nothing's happened. That's also very okay. And like Melissa said, like if you can communicate it with your partner that they can relay that information, but also like you you don't have to do that either. You can just exist and get through it and process and do all of these things. And like people will understand. And worrying about how it's coming across to other people is it's not worth your time at all. And also if this is how, if you think that this might be.
Starting point is 00:09:33 be helpful for you. Find other people that have gone through similar things like get on Reddit. Anything that you've experienced in life is on Reddit and you can find the community that is processing it in the way that is most beneficial to you or also there might be like a post where somebody may say something that's like actually that I didn't realize that that was how I'm feeling or this is what I am doing or should be doing or it would be beneficial to. to me, somebody may say something that is helpful. So try to find community, try to talk to your doctor or health care provider about other ways to support that you can receive support.
Starting point is 00:10:17 If therapy is an option, see a therapist. But there are people, if you want additional assistance, there are people that can't help too. Yeah. And also, if you don't want people to find out certain things and know certain things, you need to figure out who's sharing the information. Because I'm a believer and there's some things that like I don't want fucking people to know. And then there are other things that I don't want to have to tell people,
Starting point is 00:10:41 but I need them to know to like mitigate a situation or like when we go into an interaction. I need them to know that this thing has happened. But I also need them to know that I don't want to fucking talk about it and I don't want to acknowledge it. But I need I need that elephant to be brought into the room before I get there. Right. And I need us all to ignore it. But I need I need someone else to be like, hey, everybody, this is her elephant. Ignore it.
Starting point is 00:11:03 But there's other times where I'm like, I don't want anyone to know. I want to hide my own elephant. And like, that's all I know. But your partners is who you should be conveying these things to and making sure that they're running a tight chip with this. Because, yeah, people you don't want to know about this stuff shouldn't know about this stuff. Because it's not only is it your personal business.
Starting point is 00:11:27 It's like your medical business. So I'm sorry and wishing you all the best. And if anybody listening has gone through similar things that they've been able to figure out their coping mechanisms, please write in and let us know. All right, let's give some more advice. I'm 28, she heard and engaged to a 31-year-old man, he him, I genuinely love. Our relationship is great. We're planning our wedding and he has never given me a reason not to trust him. The problem is his past.
Starting point is 00:11:58 We live in a tiny town and apparently my fiancé had a very active dating like before me. Town bike. I knew he had been with a lot of women, but I didn't realize how many of them were still around until we got serious. I currently work with four women he has slept with. And because this town is so small, we can barely go to dinner, grab drinks, or attend someone's birthday without running into another woman he has hooked up with. He doesn't talk to any of them anymore and constantly. reassures me that I'm the person he wants to marry. I believe him, but I still catch myself comparing my body, face, clothes, everything to these women. One of them is especially gorgeous, and every time I see her,
Starting point is 00:12:42 my brain immediately goes, he had her and now he has me. I hate that I think that. I've also always been pretty sexually reserved, so this is completely unfamiliar territory for me. Most of my previous partners have similar dating histories to mine. I've never had to regularly socialize with multiple women who have slept with the person I'm marrying. I don't blame him, and I know he can't change what happened before we met. Moving isn't an option because both of our careers are here. I just don't want to spend my engagement secretly competing with women who probably aren't even thinking about me. How do I stop letting his pass make me feel like I'm not enough? Well, Or we sure we can't move.
Starting point is 00:13:24 Because working with four people he has loved with is a little crazy. And the way you phrase that, like, that's, there's so many others out there. It's not like you're just, you're only running into your coworkers out at the bar. Like, it seems like you have four people you work with and then, et cetera, ETC, ETC. Is he good in bed? I would think so. I would hope so. I think reframing what you said, like, usually like there's this one woman where I'm like,
Starting point is 00:13:52 She's so gorgeous and he chose me. Yeah, he chose you. Yeah. He chose you. You, to him, to her, to you, she might be the most gorgeous. But to him, you are the most gorgeous woman. He loves you. He loves your personality.
Starting point is 00:14:09 He loves the way you look. He loves the way that you make him feel. And obviously, you love him. He's this, like, big hot shot guy. Yeah, that is. You are the chosen one. You're the chosen vagina. You got the golden pussy.
Starting point is 00:14:23 Mm-hmm. I do think that, like, if we're going extremes, the, I, I, and it's a personal preference. And I'm hoping you'll agree with me because this is your reality. Like, I, my dream man is like, not the guy who like was never kissed and like was like a, oh, like the he, oh my God, take his glasses off. He's actually cute. And it's like, oh, girls never looked at me. Like, that's not my dream guy. My dream guy has gained.
Starting point is 00:14:49 My dream guy has been around. guy has options and has had options. And it's not, um, I don't want to be the, like, I don't want to be the, the supermodel among, like, I don't know, like, what's her name? Who's Theronos lady? Elizabeth Holmes. I don't want to be like the Giselle Buncheon amongst, like, Elizabeth Holmes. Like, I don't want it to be like, oh, yes, every, every woman he dated before me is now, is now in jail. Like, I don't want, like, I'm not even talking about, like, looks, but like, in the sense of, like, the I am the most like accomplished best of all of these things and like, oh, prior to that, the only people he could pull were like convicted felons.
Starting point is 00:15:29 Like, I don't want that. Like, I want to be in a good league. I want to be amongst all of those things because like I don't want it to be like, oh, I'm the best that he could do. Do you what I mean? Like, I don't want that aspect of it. So like reframing it in the sense that like you have someone who is confident. You have someone who like knows himself and it seemingly has like pleasant relationships with
Starting point is 00:15:51 all of these people. which is like very impressive. Like I would, if, if my choice in reality is between this and a guy who had one long-term relationship and it ended like horribly, like just like absolute animosity and it's like, he can't even like, if there's a dog at the dog park with the same name as that X, he's like, oh no, I'm too. I don't want that. Like, I don't want that.
Starting point is 00:16:14 I'm picking your reality. Like I'm picking that. And I think that like right now there's like a big romanticization of like super chaste culture and like of like oh like my man like I'm the only girl he's ever been with I'm all of those things like that's not inherently like sexier or cooler or better this is your reality and you love this guy and he loves you and comparing yourself to these people is pointless because like they don't exist in this same reality with you here they're not in your relationship and like who they were when they were with him or they stuff with him whatever totally different their circumstances
Starting point is 00:16:51 is totally different. He as a person, I'm sure, was also, like, totally different. And I think, like, fundamentally, if you have the choice to get over it, or you have the choice to, like, not marry him. And, like, you seem to really like him. And, like, the fact that he has slept around, probably got real good at eating pussy, and everybody has nice things to say about him, I do not think he's, like, a red flag. No, like, walk around and be proud that. He, like, like, this is my man. My man, my man, my man. Like, he, he loves me.
Starting point is 00:17:28 I'm the one. Yeah, I think if you don't, if you want to create the, like, I don't want to have people at our wedding that you have, like, you've slept with. That's okay. But if. And it doesn't seem like that's what he was trying to do anyway. No. And like. But I, how do you know?
Starting point is 00:17:45 Like, is it like, when you were going out, he's like, oh, I slept with her. Well, so I wonder, like, how is it come? Is it like? are you finding out later? Because I do think it is appropriate to be like, hey, just so you know, there's like one time Mott and I went to a wedding. And he's like always like told me if he's like hooked up with someone. But like he did not know this person like knew these people and was going to be at this
Starting point is 00:18:05 wedding. And I remember I saw this from across the room. And I didn't say anything to him yet. But I go, that girl, they definitely hooked up. And then like she walked over later and talked to us. And like as soon as she left, Mott's turn to and he's like so. And I was like, you guys slept together. And he goes, what?
Starting point is 00:18:19 And I go, I could tell when I saw her see us walk in. So I think there's like a way of like, if he like let you become friends with these people from work and then later on was like, oh yeah, they were like, oh yeah, I know them biblically. And you're like, what? Like, why wouldn't you tell me that you slept with my like work friends years ago? Like I think that if you're hiding it, I think there's a difference between hiding it and like bragging about it. Like just like counting like got it, got it, got it, got it. As you like walk through the small town.
Starting point is 00:18:47 Like there's a happy medium of like letting you know not putting you in awkward situations, but also like not just like reminiscing down pussy lane. But also if you've been, if this is a small town that you've been from from a while, did you not know about his reputation before? Yeah. Did you get the, did you know about this? That's a really good question. I never thought about that.
Starting point is 00:19:11 Or is it his small town? Right. And also like, do you own, is it the books? Does he have the books? store and you're the innkeeper in the small town? Like, what do you mean your jobs are in? Like, how small of a town and what are these jobs? Because, like, I do think that, like, this isn't, I don't know. Like, I think the more that time goes on, like, you'll care about this less. But I also don't think that, like, it would be dramatic to idealize about, like, a future move
Starting point is 00:19:38 where you're not living there. Yeah. But small towns have their own issues. Where I'm from is not specifically a small town. There's, there's four different cities and then other smaller cities that make up this greater area, but it's a tight-knit community. So, like, it's bigger, but everybody knows each other. Yeah. Well, it also depends on the social circle. Because, like, even if you think about, like, here in L.A., if we think about, like, the actor's circle,
Starting point is 00:20:06 we're, like, one or two people away from everybody. Yeah, small. Mm-hmm. No, it's true. It is true. But I just think that, like, it just depends on, like, the proxy to this. Like is it the like waitress at like your favorite restaurant or is it like his best girlfriend? Like what what is the relationship that he has with those people and what's relationship that you have with those people?
Starting point is 00:20:31 Because ultimately like if it is like at a distance, it's like, oh, this person who runs this store that we don't really ever go into but I just like know she's there. And I think if you're stewing and spiraling on things that like are yes, they're in your small town but they're not in your direct. orbit, then I'm like... There's four of them, though, that are in her direct orbit that works with her. Yeah, but like, do you work with, do you work with them like day to day or they in the same, not in your same department? Like, if you have to like be face to face and talking to them all the time and all that kind of stuff, I will say I think there is an unreal.
Starting point is 00:21:04 There will be an unrealistic expectation if, if the reason why you can't move is more so his job. If he's like, I can't, all of that. Because that would be anyone would have an issue with that. That's not you. Like if his criteria is like, no, whoever I end up with has to be cool with living in this town of 5,000 people and I've had sex with 4,7662 of them. Like that is a, that is an outlandish prerequisite that will probably eliminate a large amount of the pool. So just know that like you're not being like not cool if you're like, hey, I would really love if like we had a, we expanded our social group and I also didn't have to work with people you've slept with. But you have to tell us, and we will not share it on the podcast, how many people he slept with.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Because, like, if it's 20... The limit does not exist. No, but if it's 20, I'm like, girl, we got... This is a small town issue. This is not a penis issue. If it is, like, 600, then I would be like, okay. Like, he's out of... He's not even dating within his age group.
Starting point is 00:22:06 He's saying older women. Yeah, then that was a conquest. Like, that was like, that was like an intentional decision. And, like, I bet you that... there's a list somewhere. Like, that was a day, like, that's, that's a part-time job. Or he's just, like, the one attractive person that everyone's like, I got to get with him. It's just like theater camp and he's the only straight guy. Like, yeah. So, so I guess, like the number, it's the statistics of it also. And percentage. Yeah. I need to know that part. So, but I mean, I love a, I love a run-through man.
Starting point is 00:22:36 I love a run-thru man. I like a man broken in. I like him, I like, I like a little patina. Like, I'm preseasoned. Yeah, I don't, I don't, I don't particularly care. Yeah, but I, I explicitly do not like a inexperienced guy. Like, that is not, no, because they can't, they can't handle it. Like, they truly can't. I, I mean, at this point in my life, if he's an experience, there's probably other things going on. But when I was younger, I don't care.
Starting point is 00:23:07 Yeah, I don't like a guy who can't pull a girl. Like, that to me is just not, because you can't, then you will not be able to keep up with me, band like in general like if you're too timid educational if you're receptive to education then I'm fine with it but if you're not receptive then no but again that was younger me yeah I'm too old now for you not to be a little something yeah I need yeah so but I don't think that now if he's bad at sex we have a whole other issue because like you should be you should have gotten good by now yeah but I don't think this is bad in here I have to give you an update on one thing that we talked about on a previous episode.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Go for it. So on our last episode, we talked about machetes. And about how, like, it seems like there's an epidemic of machetes everywhere. And is it just us? Is it just the locations we're going to? I want you to know that I got a DM from one of my mutuals. Her and I were mutuals on her. I love the 2000s, but the 00S account.
Starting point is 00:24:12 So I follow that account. account. So it's like pop culture 2000s, Y2K. I thought you were, I thought you were going to say like she DM'd you something pertaining to this episode. She did. So she just said, I must contribute to the machete conversation from the pod. They sell machetes at Walmart. On the regular camping shells, they're not locked up. And I was like, oh, this makes sense. And then she sent me a photo of the machetes. And she goes, I just want you know that you're not wrong. This is why they're got. This is why people are getting. machetes and it feels like at in mass because I was saying where do you get them and she goes you have to get them at Walmart so shout to her because I would have never guessed do you have the picture I do you want to see it yeah that's what I'm asking and by the way this machete is five dollars okay well it doesn't even have like they take more precaution with fucking makeup at CVS yeah I mean at the end of the day it is just a giant knife but yes at CVS CVS CEF CVS has gotten fucking ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:25:15 CVS treats us all like you're a dirty, filthy fucking criminal. Like, press a button and we're going to sound an alarm and we're going to decide if someone's going to help you. What? And you have to keep pressing it. Keep pressing it. And it's like, hey, dumb bitch and aisle six come help. And I was like, what?
Starting point is 00:25:31 And they hate it. The workers hate it. I've asked them. They hit it so much. When they first put them in, I asked them, I was like, and they were like, it's annoying. No, and then other people will love. lose keys and some of that. I was there for one and I was like trying, like wanting to get in this one thing.
Starting point is 00:25:48 And she walked over and she was like, oh my God, I was hoping it wasn't going to be this one. She was like, someone put this on their fucking personal key chain and took it home. And like, I don't have this key. And I was like, oh, okay. Like, I will drive miles out of my way to go to a CVS that I know has less locked up. But they're coming for them all. They are. And like, are people shoplifting from those CVS's?
Starting point is 00:26:10 Maybe. That's not my fucking problem. Is it enough to warrant these? No, because by the way, I'm not spending the money now at CVS because I don't want to deal with all of this. So like eat the cost of the people shoplifting, the marginal stuff. That means other people will be there buying the product. If you lock it up, no one's buying it. Or sealing it, but no one's buying it.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Why am I just trying to get a chocolate candy bar? And that's behind. Why am I getting like, I'm getting something for my hair? I'm getting a concealer. I'm getting lip balm. I'm getting literally anything. vitamins, fiber, metamusole one time. I said, metamusal, motherfuckers.
Starting point is 00:26:47 You're locking up the goddamn metamusel? Oh, my, sorry, I didn't know it was a crime to be constipated. Lock me up. And by the jury's out, Melissa is out. And I need to hear everything. I've heard what I can hear heard offline.
Starting point is 00:27:45 Not to like, you know, tease everybody, but you know. I just want to protect. Yeah, some of the details. Some of the details. So it was a civil trial. Melissa was at jury duty. If you missed the last episode. Oh, right, right, right.
Starting point is 00:27:58 I had jury duty. I was actually doing jury duty. They selected me after the process that you go through for juries. I was not asked any of the questions anyone else was asked. So clearly they wanted me because of the questions that are asked are asked in a way of, do we want this person, the questions are to either we want to keep this person or we're going to lose this person. And I was number 24. There were several behind me, several in front of me.
Starting point is 00:28:32 They're getting rid of people. We took lunch. I was the last person before that, like, at the cutoff, when we came back, I was asked immediately. But I was not asked any questions. So they wanted me on the jury. Oh, they didn't ask you a single question. They didn't ask me a single question. Oh, I thought they just asked you different questions.
Starting point is 00:28:50 No, they asked me zero questions. They just said, hey, I like your look. Get over here. After you have to introduce yourself, say what you do. Yeah. If you're single, if you have children. I'm single. I'm looking.
Starting point is 00:29:04 Was anyone cute? I forgot to ask you that. No. No. That's unfortunate. No one who's in my age range either. I just feel like a jury duty meet cute would be so. No.
Starting point is 00:29:15 They're like either in their. 20s or yuck old yuck yeah yuck to yuck yeah yeah so I was asked nothing I had jury duty it lasted from
Starting point is 00:29:29 last Thursday till actually I told you Wednesday but it was actually Tuesday till Tuesday it was a civil suit so you don't have to have reasonable doubt you have to have 51% you think this person is doing what they've been
Starting point is 00:29:46 accused of yet Also, with the civil trial, it doesn't have to be a unanimous jury. It's seven out of 12 have to agree with this. There's also questions asked that are yes or no questions that you go through and check off. It was very interesting. I'm not going to go into the details, but basically the defense was like, I'm a good Christian man, and I apologize. I already admitted guilt. He apologized for everything that he did.
Starting point is 00:30:14 With that he was being accused for at this trial. And he had, he was, the moral of the story is if you are ever sued for anything or need to appear in a courtroom where you are, you know, not like a speeding ticket, but you can if you have a speeding ticket, but like, don't represent yourself. You haven't gone to school. Take the public defender. Please. Please. Because you don't know what you're doing. This is a profession unless you were in a place where you. read all these books. I know I've heard about people being in prison for a long extended time. They read law books. They have an education of where like they've been in this long. They don't trust a public defender, which, you know, cool, but they've educated themselves on what to do. And risk versus reward. Yes. You have to decide what the stakes are worth it. But I would love to know the statistic of like, I bet you it is like of the people who represent.
Starting point is 00:31:17 themselves in court. I bet you it is like so deeply overwhelmingly men. Like that is such like a male ego arrogance of being like, I can do it myself. Like the fuck do these lawyers now. It's the same thing when they're like, I could beat Serena Williams. I'm like, no, no, you can't. That's actually a professional. Like the best of the best.
Starting point is 00:31:36 There's even men that'll say that. And there's this woman that plays like for the Harlem Goldtrotters. And men are like, and she's very, she's not tall either. She might be like five, six. Oh, yeah. And they'll be out on Venice Beach. And I've seen it on TikTok. And she's like, and they're like, do you think you can beat this professional woman?
Starting point is 00:31:55 And they're like, yeah, of course, no problem. All of them get dogwogged. They rarely score. No. And she's like not like a WNBA player. No. She plays for the Harlem Globetrotter. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:07 She spends a lot of time also on trampolines. Yes. And I still can't beat her. No, it is, there is something about like Venice Beach and those type of videos because I see them. I saw them with a professional. wrestler who is a woman. Oh, I saw that one too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:20 It's the same people that do that. Yeah. They just, oh, and they're like, of course I can do it because she's a woman. And I'm looking at you and I'm like, you're an out of shape like 35 year old man who like is, you're smokers. Even the ones that are in shape. They're not a professional in that sport. You're not that athlete. And the idea that it's like, no, I could do that.
Starting point is 00:32:38 And I'm like, but you couldn't like at all. Okay. Okay. I'm not, like I said, I'm not going to go into all. the details, but if jury, if you get called a jury duty, do it. It's interesting. Very interesting. You learn a lot. It's your civic duty. So do it. They need people that I suspect that most people that listen to this podcast are, you know, fair and just. Yes. You have to think about like the like crotchy racist old lady who like is retired and like sits on her front lawn and like harasses like kids.
Starting point is 00:33:15 That's someone who has time for jury duty who's like, oh, I'm going to make the time because, like, they want to be, they want to play God in that sort of instance. And so if all of the, if all of the rational, if all of like the rational members of society who are read up on the issues of our justice system, if they're all like, fuck it. I'm not going to, like, I'm not going to participate in jury duty. That sucks. Let me get out of it. And you have all the people who are like, no, our justice system works fabulously. It works exactly how I want it to. those are the people who then are on the jury. And then it no longer becomes of like your peers. It becomes like a very select group of people who who want to keep the status quo. So I agree. That was one of your takes a while ago. And I like totally reframed the way I thought about it. Because also like yeah, on paper I am very interested in it. But like the narrative around like you got to get out of jury duty is like so ingrained that like I didn't even realize that like I was thinking that way when in reality I'm like, but I actually don't want. to get out of it, like conceptually. It's just like we've just made this thing be a hassle. And it's also why, like, you know, you don't get paid a lot and all of that. And it's like made, again, to make it more difficult. Right. Are you going to tell everybody that they did in fact, my prediction was correct?
Starting point is 00:34:31 They did in fact try to make you the four person. They did very much so. I knew it. I knew it. And I just didn't want to be the face. No, totally. And I never thought you should be the four person. I just wanted you to be warned that I knew that it was going to happen.
Starting point is 00:34:45 They were going to try. being looked at of. Yeah. And I said, no. Yeah, they go, look at her. She's got a briefcase and a blazer on, and she knows what she's fucking talking about. Let her be top of the pyramid. So, yeah, it was interesting.
Starting point is 00:35:06 I did my civic duty. Go America. Woo. And you should do it too. I am shocked to learn, though. that this is only a one-year exemption now. It might be different state to state, but California, it's one year. Well, we are a litigious country, and we are a litigious county and state.
Starting point is 00:35:31 Because I was like, immediately thought I was like, oh, well, now you won't get called for five years. No. No, just a year. If you vote, like, if you participate in this, in the United States, then you, in government things like voting. paying taxes, you will be called for duty. If you don't, if you're not registered vote and you don't pay taxes, you won't be called, but then there's other repercussions for not paying taxes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:57 I had a conversation with someone about that recently. There are people right now that are actively saying they're not paying taxes. And I said, oh, they think it's a form of protest. And I'm like, then don't complain about potholes. Well, yeah. And also, unfortunately, it is a form of protest. are you aware of the consequence of that protest? Even if it's not like even if it's not the consequences like teachers need to get paid like yeah you want that pothole fix you want that pot hole fix you want that
Starting point is 00:36:26 light fixture light pole that's outside of your house to be on like there are reasons why we pay taxes you want to be allowed to complain about any sort of infrastructure where you live if you tell me you didn't pay your taxes shut the fuck up right you don't get to have you don't get to have an opinion And imagine like your friends with a teacher and like you're bitching about something or whatever and they're like, oh yeah, we're having a short. All of that. You contributed to that because you didn't pay your fucking taxes. Like baffles, baffles me. And it will, it catches up with you morally immediately. Legally, yes, but also like. Legally, it probably will take time, but it will. And then it's worse. And then it's worse. Like you can get thrown in jail or it's like 50% higher than what you had depending on when they catch. you 50% higher than what you would have had to pay. If you don't pay it, you're going to jail. It's like the people who were like at Target,
Starting point is 00:37:18 they like don't catch you shoplifting until you've gotten into like grand larceny. Territage grand larceny? When it's a lot. Yeah. Whatever. When you get to like the felony level of it and like that's like the same thing with like the taxes, like you think you can keep getting away with it and you're like, well, I got away with it for this many years.
Starting point is 00:37:35 And I go, you do realize that makes it a higher level of a crime. So, okay. But yeah, if you're like you want your taxes to go to better things, I agree with you. But like, you can set up charitable donations on top of your taxes. So you can keep your city infrastructure running. And then you can also donate to, you know, public school funds and all those kinds of things. And you also can vote, like vote for the people that you want. A better use of your time may be running for a position in your local government.
Starting point is 00:38:06 Yeah, canvassing for someone who you agree with their policies. Like it's it's just there's so many things to do And the idea that it's like no Let's just like watch the world burn Is like a crazy one Because I go so you just think you'll survive it You just think that like it feels like Thanos Like we Mots and I just rewatched Avengers
Starting point is 00:38:26 And I was saying that like a lot of the time The Jill Steins like Or the people who are like I can't vote for like Oh my God like Kamala She's just as evil as like The two evils I couldn't do any of the that. And I'm like, you are giving Thanos. Like, half of us all need to, to die and the world needs to reach, like, a catastrophic, horrific state. And then the survivors of that will rise from
Starting point is 00:38:53 the ashes in the rubble and they will rebuild a utopia. And I'm like, that's crazy. Like, it is objectively harming X amount of people for what you say is the greater good. The moral of so many comic book stories, especially that are derived from what Stanley was doing just goes over so many people's hit. They don't get it. Well, yeah, that's, I mean, as soon as I watched X-Men, I was like, oh, damn, this is, this is overtly far more political than Marvel.
Starting point is 00:39:23 But Marvel is very political. Like, if you're reading the comments themselves, it's very political. But yeah, it took into, like, you were the one who made me stick with Captain America, except for the first Captain America said, I can't with this motherfucker. And you're like, no, you got to,
Starting point is 00:39:38 you got to. becomes the resistance. I was like, that one? That, that motherfucker? And yeah, you're right. It's, it's more of a slow burn. And now apparently all of the kids and the youths are like team Tony Stark above their like team Ironman over team Captain America. And I'm like, oh no, fascism has slipped into your pop culture takes as well. Yikes. Yikes. Yeah. Insane. Do your civic duties. Hell yes. In Toronto, every arrival is a statement, and nothing says it better than this. Cadillac Optic was the number one selling luxury EV in Canada for 2025.

Luxury sales claim based on S&P Global Mobility Canadian New Vehicle Total Registrations for calendar year 2025 for the Cadillac definition of luxury. How was your weekend? It was good.
Starting point is 00:40:49 I did the birthday cake, the Frozen, for my niece who turned three. It looked really good. Thank you. She loved it. She was so happy about it. She immediately pulled the Elsa toy off the cake. Looked the icing? What?
Starting point is 00:41:05 Did she look the icing off of it? Yes. And I was like, that's, that's, and that's why I didn't get a breakable one or like one of the little edible ones or something like that. I was like, because now she gets to play with it. Mm-hmm. She gets to keep it for the next two years. Yeah. Nope. She's got probably like three more years before she grows out of it.
Starting point is 00:41:21 Oh, she's big into princess stuff. And we got her princess dress. And when she saw it, she was like, because her mom initially was like, why don't we open that one last? Because like, once she opens that, that's all she's going to care about. Like, it blows all the other gifts out of the water. But her brother was like, no, she's opening it first. And so she opened it and her face, like, lit up. And she went, I want to be a princess. Yes. And so she put it on. And she could not stop. She was obsessed with twirling into the way where she like kept running into things. We were like, you got to put a helmet on if you're going to keep doing that. But she was so cute. She insisted I do her bath time, which she likes when I do her bath time. And I, part of the reason is also because, you know, Aunt Megan has the same kind of, it has curly hair. And so I will spend a lot of time detangling her hair like really slowly. But then afterwards, I was like helping get ready. Her hair. get ready for bed and I was giving her like last, her bottle before bed. Or she goes, milk in a cup, milk in a cup, which is what she wants. That's what she calls it. And we were getting ready to leave. And she was like, I come to your house. And I was like, oh, well, right now you're sleeping at your house.
Starting point is 00:42:30 And she goes, you do not live here. And I was like, nope. And I was like, but you can come to my house later. And she was like, okay. I was like, we have a garden at her house. She goes, you have animals? And I was like, no, no animals. Not a farm.
Starting point is 00:42:42 No, we're almost at our house. And I was like, but our neighbor has chickens and they've got like a dog. Maybe we could visit them. And then she goes, you live with farmer Randy? And I was like, who? And she goes, you live with farmer Randy. And she's like, it's a farmer Randy? I'm like, um, no.
Starting point is 00:43:02 And she goes, you live with farmer Randy. And then as like shut the door, her mom was like, farmer Randy is like a farm we went to in Ohio. Oh, wow. And I was like, oh, that is funny. But right now her obsession is like figuring out everybody's like relation to her. So we talk about like so and so is her brother. That is her mom.
Starting point is 00:43:20 That is her dad. And I am her aunt. And I guess this is all come from the fact that like I don't know if it's someone at like swim class or someone at school or like someone else's something like someone who an adult she's been interacting with recently whose name is also Megan. And apparently when she was introduced, she like turned to her mom. It was like, that is not Megan. And she was like, no, this is another Megan. So she only refers to this person as other Megan to their face. Like, other Megan, other Megan.
Starting point is 00:43:50 But so she's like learning the relations. Like, oh, no, you have Aunt Megan and that is other Megan. And we have Uncle Mott's. And then she was just sitting there quiet. And she goes, I am not an uncle. I was like, no girl, you're not. And apparently at Shul, she keeps going up to like anyone who looks relatively old to her and asking if they are a grandpa or a grandma.
Starting point is 00:44:12 I used to do that when I was little too. Or like be out in a parking lot and see somebody old and point in me like, there's grandma, there's a grandma. Yeah. And I guess she went up to someone whose kids have not given her grandchildren yet. And she was like, no, I am not a grandma yet. And they were like, ooh, ooh, dial it back, dial it back. Back away, honey.
Starting point is 00:44:34 But she's just like such a riot and it's like so fun. and yeah, just excited. And I also found out that my neighbor who has a, she'll be two in January, I always, like, the time that I water my garden is often the time that she's getting brought back home from daycare, from preschool, preschool, daycare, daycare, she's little. And so a lot of the time, like, I'll end up seeing them and like, I'll walk over, say hi. But I guess now every time she gets out of the car or gets into the car, regardless of where they're going, she just like waves at our house, like, thinking that I'm at our house, like, thinking that I'm,
Starting point is 00:45:07 I'm just going to appear because, like, that's where I, like, she just waves. And her parents, I saw them yesterday. They were like, I genuinely think like you're her, Mr. Rogers. Like, she's like, and I was like, oh, that's the highest compliment ever. I am feeling a little bit like the toddler whisper, like, recently. And it makes me even more excited for Halloween because, like, I've gotten to know so many more of the families around here. And also, like, there's one specific family that, like, she was pregnant. She was, like, not pregnant.
Starting point is 00:45:35 And then she was pregnant. it watched her like belly grow and then had like in a bassinet and then had like the stroller and then wearing the baby in the front wearing the baby in the back and now that baby walking and I was like wow that's crazy like now you're going to trigger treat so I'm I'm very excited about a Halloween and the trigger treating of it all even though I'm very concerned about the weather I've got 30 days yeah but our decorations are not even done going up because I'm sorry it's two motherfucking hot moths was the one who was like let's put up decorations this weekend and I was like you can put up some, but like it is a hundred degrees out. I'm not, I'm not doing that shit.
Starting point is 00:46:11 It doesn't feel like fall at all. Well, well, it will. I know. Well, are you having that global warming now? Is that what you're trying to involve? It actually is fall now. I am very sickler with dates. Yep. It is fall. It's been fall for about a week. Not here. It's still fall. Fall is not a concept of how it feels outside. Fall is a date on account. Yeah, and unfortunately, the date does not match the current vibe, which is sad, and I wish it did. But, no, instead, we're dealing with West Nile virus. Welcome back. Woo.
Starting point is 00:46:49 West Nile El Nino takes me back to my childhood. And I'm like, I'm alarmed. I'm like deeply, deeply alarmed. Oh, my God, I forgot to tell you. So you know how I said this on the live stream and I said it on my Instagram story. So, like, I won't do it. But so I One of the recent phenomena
Starting point is 00:47:11 Of who knows why what actually I do It's a lot of the because a lot of people A lot of animal people who are like Oh, I love animals more than humans Think coyotes are cute and they started feeding them And so they've gotten huge Individually that coyotes themselves Are like fucking massive units
Starting point is 00:47:25 Like each one is bigger and the packs are bigger There's more of them and they're bigger And they like people now Because people are slowly domesticated And leaving food out for them Everyone's like, it's because we're destroying their environments. I go, no, you've never heard of urban coyotes. These are not, like, this is not deforestation.
Starting point is 00:47:42 These coyotes live in dens in Los Angeles. And, like, Los Angeles is not devoid of nature. Like, this is not, whatever. And they're huge. And they usually attack dogs. And it literally, even when the dog is on the leash, they'll, like, try and eat people's dogs. But one stalked me for two blocks and, like, crossed the street and, like, scared the
Starting point is 00:48:03 shit out of me. and I was like, maybe I'm being paranoid about it and I looked it up. They do attack humans now. And I was like, cool, cool, cool. But that was like, I felt like I was in an episode of Animal Planet. And then two days ago on Monday or Tuesday, I was on a walk. And Mott's had worked from home that day. And something about Mots, he loves a nature documentary.
Starting point is 00:48:26 And so I was so glad he was there with me this day because I'm like, oh my God, you would have had such FOMO because the coyote one, he wasn't, he was home, but he He was inside when that happened. We are on our walk and I like notice feathers falling out of the sky. And I was like, huh. What's like, it was like first of one of the big ones. I don't like how this is going. I like debated posting it.
Starting point is 00:48:49 And like it's not graphic. But like what was happening was graphic, but you just couldn't see it. But I was like, I think animal lovers here will like be so bad at me if I post this. And I was like, if you love animals, you just love the circle of life. But it was like one of those feathers that you would see. as a kid on the ground. You're like, oh, wow, that is like really cool. So it's like one of the big long ones. And I was like, wow. And then I notice, I'm like, what's coming out of the sky? Is that pollen? And then it's like white fluffy feathers coming down. And now they're coming down in mass. It looks like it's
Starting point is 00:49:18 snowing. And I was like, uh, and I look up and what do we see, but not a, let me double check. I get the right word. What do I see, but a hawk that has captured and killed another bird just perched on a branch. like ripping it to shreds. And again, not graphic. I've got a video of it because I wanted to see. Because Mott's like that's a hawk. And he always thinks like every, like every spider's a black widow. Every bird is a hawk.
Starting point is 00:49:45 And I'm always like, no, that is, that is a common sparrow. Like that is a wolf spider. That is whatever. And so I'm always downplaying his catastrophizing of the specific animal genus. And then I looked at the picture and then I had afterwards, I was like, I have to apologize to you. My guy. That was, in fact, a hawk.
Starting point is 00:50:05 Like, you were right. But it's, it looked so small because of the angle of it. But I looked it up and I was like, no, that is straight up a hawk. And it's like one of the San Fernando Valley staple hawks. And I was at first worried because I go, did it kill a parrot? Because we have parrots all in the neighborhood, all in Southern California. They started in Pasadena. They've migrated everywhere.
Starting point is 00:50:24 And there are days where it's just like, you think there's an alarm blaring. No, it's about two dozen parrots that are sitting on a line. Like a Pixar movie, just squawking. as loud as they can. And I was like, wow, that was crazy. We just saw a hawk kill another bird. And then we were continuing our walk and we see a black cat. And I am a superstitious person. Like, I'm not like a, oh, this means this or whatever, but like, if I can avoid the thing, I'd ideally like to avoid the thing. You what I mean? So like, if a black cat is going to cross my path and I can make sure it doesn't, I'm going to do that. But if a black cat crosses my path, I will do my very best to like not spiral out
Starting point is 00:51:00 about it. And I'll be like, it's fine. So there's a black cat and I go to speed up. up because I'm like, let me just. Because it kept looking at us with like, you know, smiling like it had a secret. And then the secret jumped out of its mouth. And there was a mouse that was still alive that escaped that fucking cat. So I have to say, me speeding up to get around the black cat before it crossed my path, startled the cat into a open mouth, aghast, mouth agape, which gave opportunity for that little mouse to go.
Starting point is 00:51:29 And monster's like, what is that thing rolling down? And I go, that's not rolling. That's mouth. And it was this tiny, tiny, the cutest little mouse you've ever seen. Literally the smallest thing. Well, you disrupted the circle of life. But humans are on the top of the food train. So you stopped it.
Starting point is 00:51:47 Anyone could have startled this cat. Keep your mouth. Keep your gamut. Keep your gamut. Close mouse. Don't get fake. Exactly. But in this case.
Starting point is 00:51:55 Open mouth, food slipped out. Yeah. And it was still alive. And also I have to say that the mouse was tiny. but the cat was also quite small. And so that was the secret that it was smiling with was an uncomfortably, proportionally, the mouse was a little too big for its mouth. But I was like, wow, I really just feel like I witnessed an animal planet episode.
Starting point is 00:52:15 Yeah. Because usually they don't actually eat the mouse. They just play with it until it dies. Yeah. Yeah. They're really kind about that. So that was my animal planet day. And it has made me, someone DM'd me and said that like there's a...
Starting point is 00:52:29 So, hold on. So your niece was right. you live with animals? I told her all of this. She would have been like, she would have loved it. She would have loved it. But someone had suggested there's like a pet corrector spray that's just like compressed air that they take on their walks.
Starting point is 00:52:46 And I was like, oh, I think I'm definitely going to get that. I will say the only benefit of the fact that there are coyotes, the sizes of great Danes just marching around the street in broad daylight, not afraid of humans, is it has made people have off their dogs on leashes. just a little bit more because I hate an off leash dog. Hate it. Me too. Because usually they're like, she's friendly and I'm like, okay, that didn't mean I want to jump on my leg. I didn't say I was friendly.
Starting point is 00:53:13 Right. And it's crazy. You don't know if I'm allergic to a dog. No. I'm allergic to a lot of things. Well, I also, it's crazy because we have so many kids in our neighborhood and there's even a couple fucking people who will have like big dogs off leash and they have kids. And I'm like, do you not?
Starting point is 00:53:30 Like, I could have been. one of those white women who like pull over on the side of the road to like take care of like any sort of sick animal like my destiny was changed because I got attacked by a large dog when I was a toddler like you guys could have had me on your teen. Yeah, truly. But guess what? The dog happened first and that changed the whole course of my life. And so you guys could have had me.
Starting point is 00:53:53 I could have been one of your foot soldiers when any tragedy happens going, what about the animals? Fuck those people. What about the animals? I could have been there. But no. An off-leash dog tackled me when I was a toddler and scarred me for life. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:06 As you guys know, because it happened in real time on this podcast if you're listening, when you were telling me all these things, I assumed that the cat also happened when you were a toddler, but you were an adult. Yep, yep, yep, yep. A child adult, but still an adult. Yeah, I was a voting age, I think. Yeah, because I just left for college. So I 17, 18.
Starting point is 00:54:30 Yeah. Big fucking cat, though. Big old cat. Speaking of big old cats. Don't do that. Don't do that. Yuck. Yuck.
Starting point is 00:54:42 I refuse. Fucking hussy. Nasty. Oh, just joking. In Toronto, every arrival is a statement. And nothing says it better than this. Cadillac Optic was the number one selling luxury EV in Canada for 2020. Find your rhythm across a seamless 33-inch display

Starting point is 00:55:56 This is weekend I also watch the different world continuation. People are calling it a reboot. It's not a reboot because it, it can, The same characters are playing themselves just older, and we're seeing their children. Oh, I was that to say, how does that work here in college? Those are the kids. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:56:13 Okay. And they even have to make a joke and be, and they have to make a joke and be like, yeah, you knocked me up when I was 40 because they are, they wanted to do this reboot like 15 years ago because they are older. So they have to say that their children are. It looks really good. It is so good. And like it wasn't until, because like I didn't click on, Mott and I just watched all the trailers to everything. And so like I didn't know what it was called. And so it wasn't until the end where they had a different world and they had like the font. And I said, hold up. Like it was it was, it was, I didn't know that we were reusing, we were in an existing world. And like for most of those things that are like reboots or continuations. It feels very like heavy. This felt like original, totally original IP that I was like this is really good. And the I shout out to who the gaffers and shout out to the cinema. The way that it is.
Starting point is 00:57:03 It's lit. I mean, everybody's beautiful in general. But like, it looked like, they're like, we're going to pretend this is not on the fucking Netflix. Like, it looked, like, oh, beautiful. It's high quality, great story. Very good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. You can tell it was written by women. Please, please watch it if you enjoy, like, coming of age stories. It's really good. I've never even seen the original and I still plan on watching it. Yeah, the original, if you. There's a lot of Easter eggs, but you can enjoy it without having seen the original. And it's so funny because when I was a kid, I thought I was watching the original in real time. No. In the way that you, like how you thought when you watch the show that this is a spinoff of, but I'm not saying that man's name. They also do not speak of his name in the show. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:54 I forgot that. This is a spin-off. It picked up with Lisa Bonnet's character, but then when she got pregnant with... Character or the actual actress. Oh, Zoe. Yeah. When she got pregnant with Zoe Kravitz, that man was like, you're pregnant, but Denise isn't pregnant, even though, like, he made this big deal of it.
Starting point is 00:58:14 Like, even if you're going to be like that, she was married to Lenny Kravitz. It wasn't like, it was like an ad. She also has a baby face. It's not, but she wasn't like teen pregnancy. Yeah. And also, you can also, I mean, it would have been because she, well, she would have been going into her junior year. So she would have been.
Starting point is 00:58:30 The actress. It wasn't like a, like a social scandal. But he was. was also mad about she went and did this movie where her tits were out so he was mad about that and so he was just looking for something to yeah they could have done the Kerry Washington
Starting point is 00:58:43 blazers and really tight angles and holding things. In the first season of the original show Felicia Rashad is pregnant. There were times within the show that she was pregnant. I think she had two kids within the show and she was just carrying around bags and stuff to hide her stomach. They could have done that.
Starting point is 00:59:01 But Debbie Allen did want it because she took over after the second season and she wanted to write it in. And he was like, no, she's done with this show. She can come visit when she's, visit the main show when she's done having that kid. Mots also recently found out that like, I watched all of that show and he goes, what? And I was like, yeah, and he goes, wait. And that's where I started with that. Where you were like, yeah, we were talking about full house and we were talking about the original show. And you're like, yeah, I just really like that. In the main show that, you know, we were, we're, we were, following Raven throughout it all.
Starting point is 00:59:35 And it's like, she wasn't even born when the show first started. No. You were very much in the later seasons of the show. Well, I was also very much like, I was there for Raven, Simone. And so for me, I was like, oh, I'm so sorry, there was it before Raven? It's unfamiliar to me. So you actually did not watch the whole show. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:59:53 But like, even Montz was like, he's like, I've never seen it. And I was like, you've never seen. And he was so shocked. That's shocking that he's never seen. Maybe he's seen a couple episodes. But he was like, wait, what do you? mean you were a fan. And I go, no, I watched. And then I'd be like, you know who plays a little girl? And then he realized and he goes, oh, because I was like, she was my number. Like, that was my girl.
Starting point is 01:00:12 Mm-hmm. Still. But with, I, because I was watching reruns in the way that you were watching, re-ransed in a different world. I thought I saw it in real time. No, Melissa, you didn't. You were. So when you saw them now as like adults, were you like, oh, no, I got like later because once I grew up, like it was still, we were in the days of syndication. And then even. So that was when it was like, it was airing the newer episodes. I was watching those in real time. So the ones that were in the 90s, but the ones in the 80s, I was not watching in real time, clearly. So I was going back and watching them.
Starting point is 01:00:48 But then, so I did eventually caught up to me. But I still didn't quite understand it because I was very much like five younger than that. And then when I got older, they played it. They're always playing it. Syndication, always on TV. But then in when I was like sixth grade, they were playing it on Nick at Night. And that we were talking about Nick at Night. It's like in middle school, we're talking about Nick at Night as if these shows were on.
Starting point is 01:01:19 Like we'd go, we'd watch the shows and be at school talking about them next day. And when they did a different world, they had one year where they were doing a reunion. So they all came back and were doing things. but they were in character doing like little commercials in between. So it was cute. So this is a show that I have literally grown up with. I rewatched it last year when I learned that they did the reboot. They were, I mean, they were continuing it.
Starting point is 01:01:43 So it's really good. There's Easter eggs. The original cast is in it. And it's, but you can watch it. And the men in this show, and I say this lightly, because I usually do not think that men under 30 are attractive. But these are the most gorgeous men, young men, men that you have ever seen in your life.
Starting point is 01:02:03 Yeah. This is not the typical college experience. I don't know where they went and found these men. And like, I look at where I go, oh, of course, the most beautiful girls in the hottest cut over. We're all of the same cult. Like, Matsai literally said that. And I was like, where are the ugly nerd?
Starting point is 01:02:18 Like, they're all. It is truly like, by the way, if I had showed up there at like 18, I would have been like, I need a breather and then I need to regroup and come back out. Imagine just like showing up and that's your car. And that's like everybody who's at your car. Hot. So hot. Oh, God.
Starting point is 01:02:37 And so handsome. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. So you find, watch it. You find out some characters are related to other characters that we've seen before. You know, it's like a surprise later. You find out there's also the original cast.
Starting point is 01:02:53 Some of their children are also in the show, but playing like, like, like, uh, like, like, feature. characters but not in the sense of they're on the main cast so their kids are also in the show too there's the character of wittly her daughter i just heard her voice and i said that's jasmine guy's daughter then i really looked at her and like literally looked just like her just your skin is darker and then i looked at them as like yes that is her daughter but there's so many of their actual kids that are in the show too i'm glad with the way that they're marketing it that like again i didn't know it because I recognize the name and the font of like the logo of it. But like aside from that, like it didn't make me feel like, oh, well, this isn't for, like, I don't know any of this.
Starting point is 01:03:37 I can't watch it. Like it really introduced in a way that it doesn't feel like this is for. Yes. You know, like the diehard nostalgic fans. It doesn't feel like lip service like for those fans. It feels like, no, no, this is this is a good IP that wherever you jump in on it, you jump in on it. And I'm excited to watch. It's Debbie Allen.
Starting point is 01:03:55 Like, you can't go fucking wrong. She's the executive producer and directed the first episode at least. I don't know about the rest. And then also Felicia Pride, who was one of the, she might have been the showrunner. I think she was co-EP of the actual reboot for Fresh Prince. So Bill Air. She was on there too. She gets that age good.
Starting point is 01:04:18 It's very good. Very good show. Highly recommend. And I finished it because they're like half hour episodes. So I finished it pretty. pretty quick, too. We'll watch it because I have to give Mons a couple picks now, though, after the movie we watched last night. I owe him.
Starting point is 01:04:33 What did you watch? We watched the movie we're going to talk about. Oh. Yeah. I have debts to pay. And I own it. I do, in fact, own it. I was shocked.
Starting point is 01:04:48 Melissa, I spent the whole movie shocked. I wasn't, I was, once we got into the opening scene, I didn't. I knew what we were in for, and I'll explain that on. But am I watching? We watched the love hypothesis. The love hypothesis. I keep wanting to call it like love elements or something like that, but love hypothesis. Because they have a periodic table, but the letters don't correspond to what the actual
Starting point is 01:05:12 periodic table is. It drove me crazy. Melissa, the way that I know that you'll have an issue with the science in this movie and I have an issue with the science, and they are from two totally different standpoints of why we hate it. But I'm excited to hear about all of that. Yeah, you guys stay tuned. That's the next, that's our next episode of What Am I Watching? Oh, did you watch the new S&L?
Starting point is 01:05:33 No. I was busy watching a different world. One of my favorite TikTokers and comedians. I did see some clips though. Grace. She's so fucking funny. And I've always thought like she, wait, it is Grace, right? Let me double tag.
Starting point is 01:05:48 Because there's another comedian I also who's also named Grace. And now I'm like, let me make sure I'm not mixing up. Yeah, Grace Ryder. She is so, so funny. And she just got cast on SNL as like one of the featured players. And I was like, holy shit, big motherfucking win. Like this is, and this is like this young batch of like most recent SNL has been great. And so I'm like, okay, I've got high hopes.
Starting point is 01:06:12 Like they're really, they're doing a great job. And the Scientologist is off. And so I was like, this is going to, this is going to be a good season. And they did a sketch. some of the sketches were like so stupid but they like were they made me laugh that's my favorite kind of SNL sketch like yes I love weekend update to be very topical and like political commentary satire whatever but I also love when they do like just dumb ass shit that like makes me laugh and then they did one a parody that grace is featured in of Dream Academy which is the reality show which is how
Starting point is 01:06:42 they got cat's eye which is like making a pop group and we got um what's the girl's name adela yep I really like That song. That fucking song is a mother. The first day I heard it. I probably played it 30 times. Yeah, it is, it's an airworm. Like it just gets in there and it makes you.
Starting point is 01:07:05 Yeah. There's, Mott's heard it. He goes, what is that? And I said, I know. They put drugs in this song. I have to add it to my playlist. Songs they put drugs in. They put drugs in that song.
Starting point is 01:07:13 Yeah. But they did a whole parody of like them being in Dream Academy. And it is so fucking funny. and I'm just really excited to see more that SNL's back. And like all that, we got another Tucker Carlson sketch, which is, and I had to show Maz because Maas couldn't believe he goes, that's not actually how Tucker Carlson laughs. And I said, I had to look it up. It is, in fact, exactly how he laughs. And yeah, I've been enjoying new SNL and The Daily Show.
Starting point is 01:07:38 That's the other one that we keep up to date with. It's the only positive of these tumultuous, precedented political times is the comedy that comes out from. those shows. Unfortunately, sometimes you don't have to write the jokes. You just can quote what people say and do, which is hard. Emotionally, it's hard. But yeah, it's, it is, it's good. So that's all I've got. All right. Well, thank you guys so much for listening. Join us on Thursday where we will be doing, forgot it. Love Hypothesis. The Pythagorean theorem of love. It's actually the love hypothesis. The love hypothesis. hypothesis, which you can watch on Amazon Prime. We'll be doing that on, but am I watching? And then we'll be back on Monday for a new episode of Don't Blame Meant. How do people participate in this show, Megan? You can give us a call at 3106-940-9776. And you can also fill out the form that's listed in our show notes. If you want to just send us an email, send it to Megan Podcast.g.g.com or you can send your voice memo there. But the show note form is probably the easiest for you. Yeah. You can give us an update. You can give us a rant. you can ask for advice.
Starting point is 01:08:52 You can just, actually, you can just talk to us. Somehow, for a week, the voice memos were going to my phone. I don't know how it had never happened before and never happened. I had to go in and manually take it out. Weird. Yeah. I was like, who is this? And why do they know my name and what are they talking?
Starting point is 01:09:10 Like, it literally took me, I was like listening. I'm like, I don't know what this is. Why are they talking about Megan? And then I got on to our voicemail to pull. stuff up and I was like, how is this getting forwarded to my phone? That's so, to your voicemail? Yes. That's super weird.
Starting point is 01:09:28 Because I don't answer my phone. So the call just got forwarded it to my phone, but I don't answer it. So then I had a voice memo. I was very confused. That is very weird. But anyway, see ya on Thursday. Look, I'm doing my Mitch McConnell. I was going to do it earlier. I was going to say, when you were talking about S&L, unprecedented times, I was going to say, wait, I have a really good impression. you're not looking dead enough in the eyes.
Starting point is 01:09:53 You have to do the Franklin's mile. You have to do the no teeth and the mouth of game. Unfortunately, it's my number one most used reaction meme currently. Like, I hate to say it. They've stopped him from doing it. Yeah, they're trying to dull his shine because whatever happened to him, he was. He's seen A light. I think he's seen multiple lights.
Starting point is 01:10:13 And they got push back. Yeah, forcefully against his will. And now he's here and he's there. He's straddling the line Of hell and earth He's a Did you watch the good place? Yes
Starting point is 01:10:27 I don't remember Sorry, it's been years We talked about it years ago I just said it's been years It's true, it has been years But he's in That place In purgatory with,
Starting point is 01:10:38 What was her name? I don't remember, but yeah Like Sharon or something That 80s mogul So funny All right He loves cocaine Bye
