hello welcome to fisting friday where we will not be reading results because i was gone and to be honest i didn't listen down to the episodes i that's fine so i didn't take notes like i usually do um i just trusted that coco did a good job so yeah no i i i i was deferring the whole like I texted you and I was like let me know like the first one I definitely did not see no no I don't think I didn't think you saw it also because my iCloud was I like switched my iCloud my iCloud I got a new phone and it was like not totally hooked up so I had to like log out and log into my iCloud so half of the text messages I sent in this like 25 minute window didn't go through and I was also on a plane yeah and so I was like okay I assume she didn't see that but to me

as soon as I send the hey do you have this thing which is then it's checked off my to-do list because I'm like well I do have to eventually do that thing but I like ask the person if they have the thing that they usually give so that I can do the thing um and so like I didn't go out of my way to like problem solve or figure it out I was like well whatever and then I sent it again and then you read it and didn't respond and I then I went still checked off my list yeah I wasn't it was and then I did send it but it was late and I mean then I didn't do it yet sick something I don't know because then i had to go back and listen well that's what i did it for two episodes here's the thing i could have done that i could have but i didn't you could have told me i didn't listen to

wet wednesday episode wet fucking wednesday you guys are in for a fucking treat yeah so um instead of reading the results let's just shoot the shit let's talk about barbie we'll talk about that first yeah because tell the people what you did to end like you you came back to your big city los angeles life after your gorgeous fantastic like vacation uh-huh and you came you touched down in the land of the stars and very quickly in the next what 48 hours or not even 48 hours like what did you do uh so i went to the barbie premiere insanity yeah and it was spectacular i do i saw all the stars of the film i do have to say who everybody was cheering for the most on the pink carpet right no you'll never guess in 10,000

years it wasn't anybody that's in the movie flow from progressive she walked her and one of the other people that are in the commercials with her walked the pink carpet is clearly for publicity in a instead of the progressive blue progressive pink they were in pink yes barbie pink walking the pink carpet and everyone went fucking you're kidding me they were chanting and cheering for flo did not do this for ryan gosling did not do this for margot robbie margot robbie didn't do this for isa ray didn't do this for america ferrera people were going fucking nuts flo progressive and we're chanting flo flo flo flo you know i'm happy for her because like a couple years ago some people were trying to cancel her on tiktok like a food uh uh truck um owner was

trying to cancel her being like she was like she didn't talk to me and like she was rude um the description he gave i'm not like discounting his experience um what he described to me was social anxiety personified in in social interaction yeah um so you know good for her cashing those checks too they make so much money like flow makes so much money um she's been in this game for years like i really would love to know if janet from the good place like did she take any inspiration from flow from progressive because or at least maybe even like the character description and i wonder if flow watched it went i know that that is that is me that is me i wonder if she directs any of them because i know it's her name melina melinda melinda no clue the um

woman from AT&T who does those ones um we have like a someone who I used to know what grew up with her and they were like really close and it was like I knew this person when these commercials started blowing up and they were like telling me like oh yeah like she's great and I was like oh wow like so cool um and one of the things we talked about was like oh wow the online immense amounts of like sexualization that she's gotten it's crazy like if you look at the comments on anything like the entire reddit threads dedicated like she had to be so diligent and specific about what stuff she would post on social media because like she i've never in my life seen somebody who was not posting sexual content getting so overtly disgustingly sexualized and so then she started

directing she started directing her own commercials and you will notice she's holding a menu up in front of her chest she's wearing a hoodie like she's doing these things that I'm like oh my god first of all I I'm so happy that you get to direct him and do all of this shit I wish that it didn't have to reach that level in order for change to to happen um but at the same time I'm like you know I think hopefully if AT&T saw that this shit was happening they weren't just like oh you know what you can wear what you want switch this they were like you know what how about you also direct these this will be better paycheck and more control of that and so every time i see the success of her or the success of flow i'm so excited for jake from state farm yeah

for multiple reasons yeah maybe the little link between my legs um but flow has only been doing this since 2008 i thought it was much longer who was flow before flow i don't know huh all state you're are you in good hands yeah that one's sexual are you in good hands no it's just also just the the deep voice that's like somewhat like accusatory of you but also comforting like you're being scolded but in like a let's course correct kind of way are you in good hands and it's like i don't know that man plays villains in a lot of movies and so doesn't give phil sexual to me i think i said that to him and he was like no that's not his thing yeah he's like usually a bad dad yeah i

think it's a monster and i was like this is all i know him for i feel like he does those commercials so that like to offset yeah like that fucking um uh douche who played what's his name who plays oh who plays the douchey um cop in brooklyn nine nine who does the other insurance commercials he plays a vulture oh yeah yeah yeah offsets that same commercials but oh yeah it's all state mayhem all state there you go i don't even know what they're fucking selling i'm just enjoying the narratives there okay so back to barbie okay the movie was good it was so good i'm so and what you think the movie is about that's not what the movie is about they've been throwing us all off also i have to say i love that you're referencing i did reference the camera i

turned to the camera but there's no camera it's fine i have to say i've been changed are you a ryan gosling girl i'm not a ryan gosling girl but he has been perfectly cast for who ken is in this movie not my ideal of ken and i'm sorry to greta for doubting her vision because it was again what you think the movie is about it's not and who he is is perfect i cannot fucking wait to see it it is going to see it again oh i know we're going because yes we are going also you know when you go to the premiere people are laughing extra long and clapping extra long and i miss half the jokes but it's like every line is a joke no i'm so excited like i saw an interview with margot robbie um that like they even just things down to the fact that the sky they want to make sure you can

see that it's painted like all of these different things and i was like oh this is going to be one of those movies that i watch in the theater then i buy it and then i watch it frame by frame to like notice things because like there's not a second that goes by without a reference or whatever and i was like since i saw it i didn't realize how early it is because it doesn't come out to the 21st you know why because of the strike yes you're not i didn't even realize that you can't do press for this when you're when you're striking but more than you can't do social promo anywhere so like prior to this strike i don't i don't think the last sag strike was like it's been not social media hasn't been a thing so to me i was like well yeah they can't do junkets and press obviously but

they can still do social stuff and that's no but now they can't so that's why they've been doing this so fucking early because i again also did not realize how early you saw the movie when i went to go say oh cool unless and i will see it again like this week and i go no we won't yeah and so usually after i see a movie like this that i can't there's no think pieces yet because nobody's seen it no i was thinking that must be so hard i'm like you can't watch the spoiler interviews yes and then when i'm seeing things on tiktok i can't correct people for saying things because then I'm spoiling I'm like y'all are wrong yeah but I can't say anything because then it'll spoil the movie and I'm like no it's like a catch-22 where I got to enjoy it but I can't enjoy

it with everyone a lot of people I've seen on Twitter have had like the same thing where they're like I've heard that like no one wants to get a spoiler for this so everybody's like pretty much now going like Barbie embargo until the movie comes out because it's like some people have seen and this is a movie that you do not want spoiled for you and so i just i can't fucking wait like this is gonna be this will become my entire personality this movie yes yes i'm so excited it will it is so good um and i can't even say like it surpassed my expectations because i didn't know what to expect yeah but i'm really happy wow yeah wow wow wow i am obsessed it might be become like the official movie of this podcast no i i i have you should do it but am i watching

for this yes i'm even mots was like i'm really excited for this because i when the trailer came out i like made him sit down and watch it with me and i'd watch it like nine times and he was like this looks phenomenal and i watched the um buzzfeed celeb interview with margot robbie and ryan gosling because for you you can't any of those interviews all that stuff you're like it's not it's not scratching the itch for someone who's seen the movie for me i go wonderful i can keep watching these fucking things because the movie's not out no one's spoiling it yet um and he was just being like so he's just energy literally and so good and i just have to say as somebody who is la la land's number one hater yes when i saw his press for la la land i went i hate this

were wrapping up their cameras were gone and the whole time that we're that we're there they're playing just songs from the soundtrack and i've heard the barbie song her version 10 times we were literally counting 10 times and i'm like i'm over this um enjoyable the first time yeah but they haven't released the whole soundtrack right so like you can only have so many songs i've heard the same five songs 10 times literally 10 times because we started counting everybody's wrapping up time to go inside they start playing super freaky girl and i'm like okay we're switching up no nikki minaj is there it's her it's her walk-on zone like what like rihanna at the met gala where everybody's like no one has like the long interviews or the pictures because like

she came and everyone's like we didn't even know you were coming so sorry same thing because uh britney broski was doing tiktok interviews so she was in the barbie house interviewing people as they were coming and she was wrapping up like they had closed down the interview stuff and then she walks in and britney like you can see it because i i think i might have been one of the first people to even see nikki i was like oh there's there she is yeah and then and then i like the swell of people were like and then i see britney broski like runs back and gets like the mic and she's like freaking out because she's like a huge nikki minaj man and she doesn't have anything prepped doesn't have a car because they weren't expecting her to be

there and she's asking like she gets up there and she asks just like barb questions yeah like she's like why aren't you doing your instagram lives anymore she's like you watched that everybody watched i didn't i mean we've all seen the clips i'm quoting them constantly uh so yeah it was and then after she like basically when nikki left she like basically like fainted like i can't believe this just happened wow how i should have i i the fact that i wouldn't even have guessed at this person that she went to the premiere proves that of course she would be the very last person to arrive because like everybody all the rest of the stars were not there anymore that's so fucking funny yeah i loved the um some of the interviews i've seen on the carpet so far uh and i i just

i can't wait to fucking see it this is like the best director for this too though yes like agree and i saw somebody post some man of course post that like the only reason why women are excited about this is because greta gerb directed this and i was like first of all you didn't see me running to see fucking little women i did see little women but yeah i said me no yeah i'm saying there's a there's a certain archetype of people who who i didn't run to see it i happened to see it and then there are people who never like this is not a woman uh a universal no and then two how many dudes are like oh martin scorsese film is out i have to go watch this both people that i enjoy like their films but like how are you making a generalization about women wanting to see this

Greta Gerwig great how many women directors do we even have how many do we have great great director but like I'm not there for Greta even though she wrote and directed a phenomenal screenplay film like so good but I'm not there for her no like she's come up in the ranks for me that like if Sofia Coppola does a movie I want to fucking see it I'm like it's gonna be a mess it's gonna be like like so fucking so fucking it's gonna be so much it's gonna be like my eyes can't even like all of the it's gonna be a lot to process will i love it maybe will i not also maybe like i want to see a sofia coppola movie yes greta gerwig has slowly risen in the ranks of being like i want i'm not i'm not 100 sure i'm gonna love it but i'm interested to see what

your take on this thing is the same reason why Shonda Rhimes attaches her name to something I go I am interested I'm I you were you are making me watch this I'm not promising actually Shonda Rhimes I am low-key promising to love it but you haven't watched a lot of Shonda's things though her we were going through months I were going through the list of ones that uh because there was someone did like a thing of like Randa Randa Randa random Shonda Rhimes projects you had no idea she was a part of but now makes sense um i knew she was a part of it and i can say with not even looking that i've 100 watched everything that she's done so then i was saying i was like i need to go back and like knowing that i things i've seen that i didn't know that

she was a part of i'm like need to go back and watch more of those um and see the other things i have yet to see minus uh the doctor stuff okay so the only thing that i haven't seen is the hank aaron chasing dreams documentary film but everything else which was her very first thing you've seen princess diaries too i've seen princess diaries too fantastic i've seen a couple of others of private practice which is crazy that is crazy that you've seen private practice and never seen great it was free on itunes when it first came out like the pilot episode and i was getting on an airplane and i said free the only reason i've seen private

practices because i watch gray's anatomy yeah yeah that makes sense um i need to watch inventing anna brilliant 10 out of 10 would watch again i think that we would like that yes you would because the performance i started watching for the people but then i didn't finish yeah i mean she didn't write that one so that was more of one of her people pitched a movie a show and was like can you put your name on this and that's what for your people was yeah i i just think it's the the the way men will go absolutely like feral for male directors and they're a dime a dozen and then like women get excited about a move like okay let us have something but they can't they're just constantly threatened by that and i

love it and also uh i didn't know that kate mckinnon and greta gerwig were roommates in college yep and so when she she called kate mckinnon up and like said like i want you to be in the barbie movie and she's like we were both just like on the phone like laughing hysterically like how no you couldn't have told us like when we were like college kids like doing stupid weird like theater shit that like all these years later like i'd be calling her and being like hey i'm doing the barbie movie like do you want to be in it and she's like oh my god yeah like what the fuck is our life i'm like that's amazing i love that i was watching like old kate mckinnon stuff from when she was like in high school college like somebody had posted a home video same person

yeah i was like this is an interesting person to be all your life which i respect and i love but yeah it's just she she just she carries herself in a way of an old lady yes no that's without i was watching um before i came here i was getting ready i was watching a clip of um all of the barbies on the kelly clarkson show that's from like a month ago maybe and uh and america ferrer was talking about how like she was like so excited to meet kate mckinnon and i don't know if it was for barbie or it's like something else and she like went up to her and she's like oh my god like like i am such a huge fan like i think you're like so funny you're like i i just i can't even believe it made me i'm so excited and she goes are you kidding me like what are you doing and

she was like what and she's like we went to camp together and she was like wait what she was like you're you're funny kate you're you're that kate but she was going by a different last name at the time and she was like saying she was like i literally had that moment where it was like rewind sounds going in my head and it was like all clicking together i was like holy fucking shit they did the acting program at northwestern like i did cherubs like before summer college program which i was going to apply to and then i had mono um and i was like that is so fucking funny that she's had and she was talking about uh then kate mckinnon was like yeah in america like had this her final performance was like this really amazing dramatic monologue and it was like

so touching and she was like and in my play i i played a bug and america's like it was the funniest thing i've literally ever seen and they're like and now we get to do this movie together it's like wow this is just amazing like i love this for all of them that's so cool i can't wait to fucking see it i can't wait for you to see it either and i can't wait for us to talk about it we'll maybe we'll save talking about it for a couple weeks so people can see it yeah but um i i just i want to say so many things and there's only a few people i can talk that's really rough yeah that's hard yeah i i think it's i the preamble for this i'm finding it hard because i'm getting so excited and i haven't seen it yet but at least by the time
