This is Dale June.
and you're listening to Dirty Moe Radio.
Outside, door, bumper, clear the 18th.
Best car ahead here in a long time.
You're going to do it.
You're going to win it.
Right with you.
You're clear.
Check the flag.
You win.
Hey, everybody.
I'm T.J. Majors, spotter for Dale Jr.
in the Cup series and Justin Allgaier in the Xfinity series.
And alongside of me is Brett Griffin from Pageland, South Carolina.
Spotter for Elliott Sadler on Saturday, Clint Boyer on Sunday.
And joining us is Natalie Speed Sather.
We had to bring a rose to then here to put between two thorns, you know.
That's right.
She had to do it.
Yeah.
And she wears tight pants.
I was going to ask who the rose is.
I thought you're talking to me.
It's her, dude.
You're a lot of things, but you're not a rose.
You were looking to me and granted, I didn't know.
I mean.
So welcome to the inaugural podcast of Door Bumper Clear.
We are coming live from Dirty Motor Radio and.
Moresville, North Carolina.
This show was presented by one main.
Really happy to have those guys on board with us.
T.J. and I are going to sit here every week and we're going to go through a bunch of stuff,
and then we're going to do something that Natalie has invented called Top Topics,
where T.J. and I rolled through them and kind of give our opinions on them.
I'm sure we'll always agree.
Absolutely.
That's kind of what we do.
So I think the first thing we've got to talk about this week, we're heading to Daytona.
We are.
What's the one thing you've got to pack and the one place you've got to go while you're there?
because all these people listening are probably coming to the Daytona to see us, right?
Yeah, I mean, first one's in the shark.
I'm just kidding.
Do you know what that is?
No.
Okay.
I just smiling nod.
I feel really bad for saying this because everybody in the industry is number one,
not going to believe it, but I've never been to the shark.
You know, I have, and it was for like five minutes,
I walked in and basically walked out.
What is it?
I went in there to get a friend.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's a really...
The other place is called lollipops.
Got it.
No need to say more.
I have been there.
I love the music there.
They do have great music.
So that's kind of what the shark is like.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So one thing we got to pack and one place we got to go.
One place we got to pack.
Man, it's always first race the year.
I over pack.
I always overpack because I take hot stuff.
You never know how Daytona is.
So you take your...
You take stuff for the beach and you take stuff because it's been cold and it's been hot.
So I always pack full gloves, everything in my bag, and I always pack, you know, swimming and drunk stuff.
So I'm bringing my wife and kid to the Sprint Unlimited this weekend.
So it would be awesome if you could help us win any of them races.
Are you in the Unlimited?
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, you know, honestly, I feel like we could start a team and I could drive in that race probably somehow.
I'm eligible, I'm sure.
we do a podcast you're eligible yeah so why wouldn't you be yeah so anyway back to that and one place probably
we always go to portofitos yeah i love portofino yeah every time i go there i see the woodbrothers in there
every night yep so that's my place we stay right across the street yeah good glass of kianti
and their lasagna man i love it all of it's good to me so you're packing a swimsuit you're going to
portofinos i am 100% going to the ocean deck oh i do you would love that place good reggae music
beer. Saturday night, probably after the Unlimited, would be a great time to check that place out.
And I'm torn, man. I don't know if I should pack my modium because my stomach's going to be
nervous or pack my Vaseline because my lips are going to be dry. You probably ought to pack both.
I know you're packing the Vaseline. I probably will. You're not forgetting that.
I mean, man, I always tweet pictures of my Vaseline jar when I go out with. I take like a 55-gallon
barrel and a whole bunch of socks. Because, man, my skin gets dry. I love Vaseline.
I don't need a Vaseline deal and an Ugg deal on the show.
Who's going to work on that?
I have Vaseline.
I always have Vaseline in my purse.
See?
You gets it.
She gets it.
My lips get dry.
So am I.
We're going to run through some topics.
I think before we do that, though, we need to inform this huge audience that we're going to already have where this podcast came from.
Why don't you give us some insight on that?
Well, it actually came from Mike Davis.
I did Dirdamow radio stuff with the Dale Jr. download.
And, you know, had a lot of fun on it.
And, you know, we and Mike got talking.
We wanted to expand on some stuff.
And he asked me if I'd be interested in starting a podcast and picking the most annoying individual I could find that helped me with it.
And they kind of went from there.
So, you know, I called Brett and ask Brett if he'd be interested in doing it.
And here we are taking up your day.
Thanks, guys.
Appreciate it.
Here for you.
Good times.
All right.
Are we ready to roll with top topics?
Let's do it.
I am ready.
But first let me explain how this is going to work.
So we have a handful of topics, and T.J. and Brett are going to alter who goes first.
Each one of them will get 30 seconds.
So at the end of each 30 seconds, you're going to hear a ding, which is the cue for that person to stop talking and the next person to go.
The first one is the new qualifying changes.
Brett, you're up.
So I think that T.J. and I will probably agree on this qualifying change for Daytona and plate races in general was a good thing.
It was a real travesty last year when we got to Daytona,
and we saw the outplaying of guys sitting on pit road
and waiting till the very end
and not being able to get their laps in
and tearing up race cars.
I'm a big fan of man and machine versus the clock,
and that's kind of what this qualifying format for Daytona has gone back to.
Yeah, I definitely like single car at Daytona.
It was ridiculous.
We used to sit on pit road, try to hold everybody up,
or get a lap in, then slow down.
and wrecks were almost happening.
It was very unsafe.
I like the show of speed, you know, guys working on the cars and coming out and proving
you can go out there and run the fastest lap, whether it's Daytona or anywhere, really.
I like just guys see him put it on the line and run a fast lap and not depend on someone else to run it.
The fastest car is going to sit on the pole for the Daytona 500.
That's the way it should be.
The guys who worked their asses off all winter to make a fast car.
are going to put it on the racetrack.
And those two fastest cars are going to sit on the front row for the Daytona 500.
So applause to NASCAR for recognizing that the former restrictor plate qualifying format was awful.
And it created crashes and cost team owners a lot of money.
And that's not what qualifying is for.
It's man and machine versus the clock.
So kudos to them for fixing it.
Let's go into spotting at Daytona.
Spotting at Daytona.
I really like it.
I've formed a really good relationship with my driver at it.
We understand each other really well.
He listens, he understands the pitcher I'm painting really well.
We've had a lot of success there.
A lot of second place finishes, a lot of wins.
I can't wait to get there.
Looking forward to it.
There's no reason why we can't bring another trophy home.
Man, if you've never been to Daytona, you've got to go.
When we roll in that to the infield tunnel on Thursday or Friday this week, man, it makes my hair stun up on my arms.
I love this racetrack.
I love this race.
There's nothing like spotting at Daytona for spotters because we play a role in how these guys do.
You know, if we go to some of the other tracks, we're not as important.
When we get to Daytona, Talladego, we're the second most important device during the race.
So I'm a big fan of Restrictor plate racing.
I know the majority of our audience is, and I know T.J. and I are both jumping up and down ready to go.
Did you just call me really good?
No.
You did.
You said spotters make a big difference, and I have a really good track record at Daytona.
I really – I think he did.
I really thank Brett for giving me all the props right there,
staying spot, because, you know, my average finish is really good at Talladega and Daytona.
So I'd like to thank Brett for that.
I like to put my guess here.
So anyway, you know, I'd love to, I should have brought the 500 trophy in so we could take a look at it.
I think it's right out here.
Oh, it is.
Take a look.
Turn around.
Turn around.
Turn around.
I want one.
All righty.
So now we've established you guys are now teammates.
Let's talk about previous conflicts.
Man, TJ and I have known each other for a long time.
I've been in the sport 17 years.
It's kind of ironic, though, that we're teammates because TJ is one of the first guys on the roof to give you hand signals during the race when he's not happy or make gestures.
And even more so, when the race is over to send really dirty text messages, it's pain.
He's lying 100%.
You know, I do get a little animated sometimes.
that's good that means you're into it that means you're you're uh you're passionate about what you do
and um you know you're you're just into it so you know i do wait until later sometimes you know
just maybe let them know how i feel may have done that once or twice or 25 times it doesn't matter
a race 25 times a race no after well after race is probably hey we're teammates now we got we got
we got we got we got to show show and share the love man i feel like we got to almost start hugging it out
right now.
Can I ask if you wanted to hug.
And hug it out before and after every race, no matter what happens.
We just got to share the love.
All right.
Off the Wall topics.
How about Cam Newton?
He wasn't doing much dancing at the Super Bowl.
TJ, go.
Cam did no dancing.
I was okay with that.
I thought you liked his dance moves.
I don't know that was great.
No, Brett likes his dance moves.
I'm not a fan of dancing after first downs and stuff like that.
I'm a fan of dancing and celebrating after you do something.
something good, but I'm not a huge fan of showboating, like small victories.
I'm a fan of, you know, I don't mind.
Like after touching herself, yeah, celebrate, give the ball to a kid.
Well, Cam didn't have any reason to dance, but in general, guys who dance have more fun.
If you're dating a guy or married to a guy that doesn't dance, break up with him or divorce him, because dancing is where it's at.
Now, Cam didn't have much of a reason to dance, but man, let's face it.
I mean, people tune in the football games to be entertained,
and that guy makes it entertaining,
whether he's doing the worm or, you know,
doing the dab or whatever the heck else he invents for a dance move.
Best food to eat during the Super Bowl.
Oh, man, I'd have to go with, I don't know, chicken wings,
celery, carrot, stuff like that.
What do you think?
Man, I cooked a Boston butt yesterday.
I saw your tweet, yeah.
What is a Boston butt?
A huge.
It's a big pig's ass.
Now, I don't know exactly what it is, but it's pork, right?
He's got a cousin in Boston that sits on his grill.
Yeah.
Yeah, so it's called a Boston butt, and it was freaking delicious.
Yeah, Josh used to smoke them all the time when he lived behind me.
I mean, I absolutely killed it.
So for me, the Boston butt's my favorite Super Bowl food.
Can we call it a pig's butt?
It's not.
I don't know.
I don't think it's really.
a butt.
I hope it's not a butt.
You ate it.
Would you eat it again?
Absolutely.
Do you like big butts?
I like big butts.
I like big butts.
And you guys going to ask if you were going to lie.
Of course you like big butts.
Shoulder.
I think he's right.
Yeah.
I thought your shoulder was hurting, man.
You're pointing at it and stuff.
You need some tough acting to acting or something, man.
Remember them John Madden commercials?
Yeah.
Those are awesome.
Tough acting to act.
Well, we literally got off the wall in that one.
All righty for our next off the wall topic.
Justin Bieber in his comeback.
Go, Brett.
Justin Bieber is the most talented artist currently on the radio right now.
There's nobody else that can write and sing like this guy.
I am a huge fan of everything except for him peeing on fans at time or whatever he did.
Don't lie.
He liked that.
It was pretty disrespectful.
But beyond that, this guy is so badass.
I am going to find a date this year and I'm going to go.
I know you're a believer and I don't agree with his talent,
but he has a hot ex-girlfriend and I like her a lot.
And that's why I'll put up with it.
Hold on a minute.
I got to find something.
Your wife's been saying the same thing.
I don't know how to find.
it quick with this new freaking format.
Oh, here we go, right here.
Justin Bieber, ladies and gentlemen.
Just listen to the music.
Look at that.
That guy's killing it.
How can you not like this music, T.J.?
I didn't say I didn't like it, but right now you're looking at a guy with his shirt off singing
into a microphone.
He has great tattoos.
He has great hair.
He's a good-looking kid.
He's a musician.
He's probably got more tail in a month than you've had in your entire.
life. I mean, this guy is, he's a legend.
Well, yeah. Look at him.
Hey, he's hot. I love Justin.
I'm forever a believer. I'm not hiding it any longer.
Believer. I'm coming out of the closet. I'm here. I'm a believer.
The beads.
I'm just totally uncomfortable with you having that on your phone right now.
I'm really uncomfortable.
Yeah. So let's do our word association.
Oh, boy. I'm going to say five words, and each one of you have to say what comes to mind.
This could get ugly.
So, T.J. You'll go first.
Football.
Buffalo Bills.
Pizza.
Pepperonie.
Jim.
Not Brett.
Puppy.
Wolf.
Rain.
NASCAR.
Ugs.
Me.
Yeah.
I love UG Boots, man.
I got them on right now.
I told them last week we got to get some of UGJ.
Do those have fur in them?
Yes.
He's rocking boots with the fur.
Do they really have fur?
Yes.
I won't lie, man.
I got a pair of uggs.
slippers.
Oh, he's already taking him off and I've had to feel how soft they were.
I've got a pair of slippers, man.
Let you try them on what you only wear a size of suit.
Dude, your foot is going to sweat with them socks and that things on me.
You got to wear socks.
You have little feet.
Okay, so my ears are a little too.
I have little ears.
You know what they say about people with little feet?
They have little hands.
They wear little socks.
It's true.
You know, me and Madeline swap socks a lot.
Yeah.
She's five.
Some people will get that joking and some people won't.
some people will most probably will i think everybody that i know will but most of the people
listen are pretty pretty uh witty if we get a lot of the same listeners that do the call in stuff
like that so so so uh let's talk about rookies man i feel like there's a good class man i feel like
there's a bad ass rookie class it's a good year yeah it's a really good year um with blaney
blaney i think's going to be fast in that 21 car he was fast last year they rained out like 17
times when he was supposed to race and he was fast and practice.
Who do you got, man?
You got, you got Chase Elliott or Blaney when a rookie of the year?
Or somebody else.
Who you got?
Talk to me.
It's got to be one of them too.
I don't think those two or two.
You know, I feel like, I feel like Blaney's got a little bit more experience,
but I feel like Chase, yeah, because he's ran full seasons for.
Oh, he hadn't run full season.
Yeah, but he's been running.
He's run some.
Yeah.
I just feel like he's got a little more experience than the cup car,
so he's going to adapt a little bit quicker.
and they ended fast last year.
But Chase is going to have the notebook.
He's going to have the experience to lean off of.
So, you know, at the end of the day, I think Chase will have less mechanical failures,
less mistakes in just a more steady year.
I think he'll have less ups and downs than what Blaney will have.
I think Ryan Blaney will be real fast.
You know, he'll be 12th one week and then he'll be 32nd.
You know, I feel like Chase is going to run the –
Chase is going to be up there and just kind of average better than what he is.
I feel like this is the best rookie battle we've had since probably Kenseth and Dell Jr.
I mean, you look back and, you know, we've had a lot of good ones over the life of NASCAR.
But, man, I feel like these two guys are going to kill it.
I am going to say Ryan Blaney wins rookie of the year.
And the reason I'll say that is because I think he wins a race, man.
I think he may win two races.
I mean, the struggle last year for him was the little things.
And that's because he wasn't getting a race every week, you know.
he wasn't getting to hit pit road he wasn't getting to do restarts i mean when he gets to do that every
single week for 10 weeks he's going to eliminate those mistakes his pit crew's going to be full-time
versus part-time they're going to be better you know they're kind of a pinsky satellite team we see
how well lagano and kislauski run every week so they got speed man i mean i again i think this is
going to be one of the fastest pent he was the fastest penske car a couple times when it rained out
yeah so i know he's going with the same same equipment you know all of them were right together
So when he go out there running him a qualifying lab,
that dude's fast and quality, like right off the truck.
If he's one of the first ones to make a cue run,
you can tell he's not the aged veteran that's going to, whoa, slipped a little bit.
He's the, you know, slipped and got loose and stayed in it and, you know, run the lap.
We need those guys to do well, man.
I mean, a lot of our guys are, you know, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart.
They're retiring.
We've got to have the new young guns come in and be something.
Not just come in and run.
We didn't want to come in and win.
Who were the last rookie of the years?
There was Stenhouse.
Who was before that?
I don't know, man.
I don't even know.
We went through some years where guys like Andy Lally won it.
Yeah.
You know, what's that other guy that drove the car with a generic bag or drug on it?
What was his name?
Did he win it?
Kevin Conway?
Yeah, did he win it?
I think he won it because he ended up in the Buds shootout or something one year.
I mean, anyway.
He was in the shootout.
I know that.
Well, how the hell else what he got there?
He won a rookie of the year.
But you look at maybe extensive.
I'm telling you, man, this is, you look at a lot of guys that came in and had big rookie classes.
This is going to be one of the better ones.
This is definitely one of the better ones that's got good names coming up in it.
Guys that we'll see in the sport.
For a long time.
Yeah.
Not to say the other guys weren't good, but these two are going to be here for a while.
Ryan's already established.
Chase is too.
Chase is a champion already.
Bushers got a ton of talent, but I don't know if the kid's going to be in great stuff yet.
Yeah, I don't.
Jury's out.
Yeah, I don't think he's going to be able to compete with those other two.
is yeah i don't think he's going to be able to compete yeah so anyway what else to uh
do in detona you got any of plans me and detona plan yeah man i'm uh i know you got like six
days off so what are you going to do i'm flying flying down friday you're going down friday morning
i'm driving thursday oh driving them stopping savannah man cool place halfway i do like it um so yeah
to find out friday morning man working all weekend and i'm going to see micky mouse
yeah what day uh sunday sunday sunday sunday
Monday night, Monday, Tuesday, three days.
The happiest place on Earth.
It is, man.
I think I meet with Princess is Sunday morning.
Yeah.
Awesome.
Who's your favorite Disney Princess?
Was it matter?
Yeah.
Who is it?
Probably, yeah.
Probably Pocahontas.
Oh, my God.
Is that a princess?
Yes, but somebody else told me that same answer.
Why?
I just don't.
She just got that, like, I don't want to say it on radio.
Yeah, something like, that.
in my eyes look at you and be like Pocahontas?
Yeah.
She does it for you?
Maybe, I don't know.
And I like blondes, so I'm going with Elsa.
I married a blonde, so I'm good on the blonde.
You're OD'd on the blonde, so you escape to this fantasy world where Pocahontas is your mistress.
Who's the Under the Sea Girl?
Little Mermaid, that's my favorite.
Ariel?
So cute.
Well, I'm looking forward to Daytona.
I can't wait to get there, win some more races, hopefully, and start.
the year off good it's way easier to start this year off it's a long season but it's
so much easier to start off with momentum than it is to get in a crash and try to dig out of a
not that we race for points like that anymore but it's just the momentum is so high after you run
good here it's so easy to stay up on that mountain for a while so I think next week we we can
obviously talk to our fine listeners about the Daytona 500 and what it really means but
for me American race man just packing and going to Daytona you got a chance
to win four to five races, you know, and that's fun.
So we'll see you guys next week until then.
Yeah, hopefully enjoy listening to us,
and maybe we can stir up some trouble this week,
and we can talk about it next week.
Yeah, I'm sure this is only going to get more and more fun every week
because TJ and I rarely agree on anything.
Yeah, I go home and watch Disney.
Deuce is. See you.
See you guys.
