Starting point is 00:01:04 I just feel it. No, you don't. That's why I always wear loose clothes now. You wear a lot of dark colors, too. All I want is Papa John's, when these and Girl Scout 50s. You should ask them to sponsor us during the show. No lie.
Starting point is 00:01:17 I think we should talk about that. At least we knew you when you were skinny. I lost five pounds my first trimester, so I'm trying to gain it back. I'll tell you how you're going to gain it back, seeking that shit you just said. Yeah. Hey everyone, this is Casey Boat, and you're listening to Door Bumper Clear.
Starting point is 00:01:42 The guys are sleep deprived, but back from Las Vegas, where T.J. took home his first win of the 2020 season. Today we'll discuss his win and Sunday's late restart and final lap caution, Corey LaJoy's comments on Super Speedway Racing, and Kevin Harvick's bounty on Kyle Bush. An all-new DVC is ready to roll here in three, two, one. I'm T.J. Majors. This is Gregman. Get ready. Be ready. Be ready.
Starting point is 00:02:15 Be ready. Give me what you got here. New leader. I'll watch out for this guy. White flag. Recognize. Hello. Clear.
Starting point is 00:02:24 Bring home. Three lights. Coming to the line. Door. Bumper. Clear. Hey, everybody. I'm T.J. Majors.
Starting point is 00:02:32 It's part of the 22 cup car. 99 truck. Give it a little more enthusiasm. You won the damn race yesterday, man. Come on. He also probably took, like, a red-eyed. So did everybody else. I was just thinking maybe we can add another car because this is the same car of the one last year.
Starting point is 00:02:46 Yeah. There you go. Brett Griffin, Spider, Clint Boyer, fresh off of four-hour sleep, got home at 2 o'clock, got up at 6, did the morning carpool. And I think I'm more nauseated than Casey is, and she's pregnant. That's a great way to welcome me on. Thanks, guys. Hey, guys. I'm Casey.
Starting point is 00:03:04 You're perky today. Do we get any fun comments on your video last week? Did anybody like some fun stuff? Yeah, I actually haven't had a chance to go through all of them. But I will say, well, first off, welcome, Jason. What's up? Before I forget to introduce you. Part time.
Starting point is 00:03:22 He's full time now, though. Yeah, but he's part time with us because they're robbing us. I don't know. All the resources go to Dale Jr. stuff, and it's still not as good as nice. And Dillner's behind the camera right now, like, you idiots. He is. He is. He don't look at hand motion.
Starting point is 00:03:35 Dillner slacking, yeah. Doner started slacking and looking at it. Thumbs up. Is that what that was? Hey, let's go look at this. track in this field. Hey, Shultz, take up my work for me. I still don't know sleeping. Well, anyway, yeah, it seems like weird in here without Freddie, doesn't it?
Starting point is 00:03:53 It's kind of quiet. So there's so much room over there by you. I know. I'm usually on the end. Fairly. Fairly. Freddy gained at least 12 pounds at Vegas. I'm not going to lie to you. He gained at least 12 pounds.
Starting point is 00:04:06 Alcohol? I gained four, and I know he did more than I did. I weighed this morning, I was like, holy stanky. It's bad. We ended up Friday night. We went out to dinner, and then we ran into Kid Rock, and we ended up going to a couple of places with him, went to excess. That wasn't really his scene. We didn't stay there long.
Starting point is 00:04:26 And then we went to Losers, which is in MGM. Had a little corner table, man, sat there and had some cocktails. Freddy and I were both off on Saturday. I wake up Saturday morning, and I made a haircut appointment, and I rolled out of this haircut place, T.J. and I'm like, hey, I want a haircut. It was like $65. I was like, damn. But I'd want $1,000 night before playing crap, so I wasn't really going to worry about it.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Then the guy says, you want me to trim your beard? And I was like, no, my beard's fine. So he's like, well, you don't want me to fade it in with like the haircut. And I was like, yeah, you fade in on a haircut, that's fine, which to me is like not trimming a beard. He charged me $50 for that. I got to the registration. It was $121 for a haircut. He's probably used to drunk people coming in and be like, just give me what you got.
Starting point is 00:05:08 A guy, I feel like an idiot. What an idiot. Who does that? Everything you do in Vegas is super expensive. I'm really actually surprised. You're surprised it costs that much. I'm surprised. Why would you, don't you have like a normal person that cuts your hair?
Starting point is 00:05:23 No, I usually cut it myself. I won't know to anybody other than the one person I go to. Really? Yeah. I usually cut my myself. Yeah, women are really picky about their hair. Yeah, I don't really care. Half mine's fell out anyway.
Starting point is 00:05:35 Don't matter. That's why you wear a hat all the time. No, I wear hair because I don't want to burn. Well, at least stuff. Some of it was gone. Maybe it would have charged you 100 for the hair itself. I should have got 50% off the haircut. You had a lot to complain about when you got to Vegas because it took you, what, 24 hours?
Starting point is 00:05:52 It took me 16 hours to get to Las Vegas and I'll make this short and sweet. We land in Memphis, we get gas. We take off again. We land in Amarillo, Texas. We get gas. Our pilot comes in and says, we have a flat tire. I'm like, oh, fine, well, let's change the tire. Here's the picture.
Starting point is 00:06:07 We can't change the tire. We don't have a tire. There's not a tire close to here. So the plane that just took off with everybody else is going to go all the way to Vegas, which was two hours. They're going to get fuel, 30 minutes. They're going to fly back here, two hours. They're going to pick us up.
Starting point is 00:06:21 That's 30 more minutes of fuel. We're going to load up and we're going to fly out of here. So we were stranded in Amarillo, Texas for four and a half, five hours. Then when we take off, the president decided he was going to leave Colorado to fly back to Vegas. They shut down the entire Vegas airspace. So now we are diverted. to some
Starting point is 00:06:37 whole airport in northern Arizona, 100 nautical miles from Las Vegas. When we land there, guess what we don't have? Transportation to get to Vegas. We sit there another three hours, waiting all the shuttle buses to get there. They get there,
Starting point is 00:06:52 and it's the shuttle buses from Vegas with the stripper poles in them. Guess what? There's no strippers. So now we pile all our bags in here. Good news is there's some important people on there, too, like Eric Amarola guys like that. So, like, you...
Starting point is 00:07:04 Because a lot of times, TJ will tell you, we feel kind of like peasants sometimes. because there's always these VIP people, and then there's all the rest of us. And TJ and I have been on the VIP side. But this particular day, I'm not on the VIP side. So now we're another two hours and 40 minutes in a car because this stripper bus wouldn't go about 40 miles an hour all the way back to Vegas. So I took off from Charlotte at noon on Thursday,
Starting point is 00:07:29 and I got to Vegas at 5 o'clock in the morning, 6 o'clock in the morning, East Coast time. It was like 2 o'clock in the morning there. and you know here we are take showers go to bed boom roll out the next day and go to work but um yeah my travel adventures to Vegas were I think probably the worst travel day I've ever had remember when you said you're gonna make it short and sweet that wasn't short and sweet well that's because my flight wasn't short and sweet well this just this isn't like uh something anybody plans for this is just stuff that can happen so and it keep happening and it it sucks when it does but um you think about how many flights we take
Starting point is 00:08:04 where there's no issues at all what is a donor doing look like Sasquatch walking in the background. Yeah, it was not fun. But anyway, man, a lot of great news since we had our last show last week around Ryan Newman. I don't think anybody saw him walking out of a hospital three days after that crash holding his little girl's hands. Not even three days. What a miracle, man. Two almost.
Starting point is 00:08:24 What a miracle. Just can't say enough about the safety aspect and all the people praying for him. And I didn't see that coming, man. I didn't either. And, yeah, to see him walking out of there, his socks with those little girls. that's Newman. I mean, that's, I mean, the news we kept getting was just better and better and better as the days went on. And it was, every time we heard something was more of a blessing and it was more, you know, you just breathe easier because you never, you still were worried it was going to get
Starting point is 00:08:54 bad. But man, it's amazing that he walked out of there. And he's completely, I mean, completely back to normal as far as personality is. The drivers, yeah. The drivers are complaining. he was doing and he made some smart-ass comment and you knew he was just you know back to normal yeah every all the drivers are saying that they have he has his newman sense of humor's back you know so um that's awesome i mean i'm you don't you know you don't we're all competitors on race day but i think we all are we couldn't be happier on how this turned out yeah for sure man for after we saw that wreck i mean this couldn't have been any better did you guys uh after a big win last night did you contemplates just staying in Vegas?
Starting point is 00:09:39 We need to put a video camera on this door. Have y'all noticed this year that this door just keeps opening up right in front of us? I bet this doesn't happen in the Dell Jr. Download. And Jason keeps getting up and going over there to shut it. Like Jason, get that big ass tire over there and put it in front of that door. Just slam the damn door. Slam it, slam it, damn it. Anyway, T.J.
Starting point is 00:09:56 What are we talking about? Did you think about staying over and partying in Vegas last night? Ten years ago that I probably would have. Not so much anymore. We used to stay over and party in Vegas when we didn't win. Remember that? Yeah, exactly. You're leaving a night?
Starting point is 00:10:08 Nope. Now you guys are too old and just want to get home. Yeah. A lot of travel. A lot of travel mix-ups with the Xfinity race being after as well. Something you don't really plan for in Vegas. Rain, raining a race out. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Did you see Kit posted a picture of the map of the U.S. And there was only one area with rain and it was in Vegas. Wow. In a desert. Yeah. Yeah. No, it would have been fun. You know, I think by four days in Vegas,
Starting point is 00:10:40 I think you're almost ready to get home and after a long day at the racetrack and, you know, more West Coast trips coming up. It's tough flying back in four or three weeks in a row. It is. Yep. I've been doing that for a while now. It's probably the worst three weeks travel-wise of the season for us.
Starting point is 00:11:01 For me anyway, just your body, man. You get out there and, you want to go to bed at 8 o'clock and you wake up at 3 o'clock and no matter what you wake up yeah now you get home and you're like you just start adjusting so i get home last night i'm like oh it's only 11 out there or midnight i'm good and then 6 a.m hits here and yeah you're not it's not good yeah you don't get jet lag from the jets people you get jet lag from the time zone hop and the 16 hour flights to Vegas it should take four and a half hours yeah i want to know any stories i mean You guys are in Vegas besides the old kid rock winning a thousand and anything else that you got.
Starting point is 00:11:37 I mean, I think I've already been through my Vegas adventures. I wasn't there as long as T.J. was, remember? My Thursday night was cut basically off. So I had Friday and Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday morning I had my expensive haircut. I walked into the breakfast and I was like, man, I need a bunch of water. I'm dehydrated. The guy goes, well, you're in the desert. I was like, oh, now we got a smart ass for a waiter.
Starting point is 00:12:00 This should go well. Anyway, it's fun. Kevin Hart was in there eating. He's a tiny little guy. Yeah. I'm surprised he wasn't working out. He wasn't working out. He had his hoodie up the whole time, though.
Starting point is 00:12:11 That's all of like, I follow him on Instagram, and he's always got his hoodie up. He had his hoodie up. Yeah, that's definitely probably Kevin Hart then. Yeah, no, it's him. He was chilling a little place in the Cosmo. I love that hotel. I do like the Cosmo. It's hard to beat it.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Yeah, I mean, honestly, though, I've started staying at the South Point when I went to work with Joey. and I've grown in a like South Point. It's just easy access. There's not a lot. And honestly, though, if there's one of the best restaurants of every ate at my life is in there. They do have a good steakhouse, right?
Starting point is 00:12:41 Oh, I went to this place called Michaels. Yeah, that's it. And it was an amazing meal. Probably the best meal I may have ever had my entire life. Wow, that's a big statement. It was ridiculous. I mean, it was like seven courses, man. And I'm not a seafood guy, but I was eating seafood.
Starting point is 00:12:58 Yeah. Like, it was, it was in the, I mean, I got this fillet, and the filet is gigantic, and it's cooked perfect. I couldn't even eat it all because we had seafood, salad, soup. Freddie should have went with you. I ate it. Freddie would have gained 25 pounds if he went here. Well, after you get done with your steak, and it's like family style, like scallop potatoes,
Starting point is 00:13:20 cream of corn, stuff like that. Oh, that's so good. And then after that, it's like you get dessert, and it's like going to, um, what's place in Burkdale that has the chocolate cake. Red Rocks? Yeah, it's like a huge piece of chocolate cake or whatever you want. I saw Ron in Vegas that all was Red Rocks. He was out there with Denny. Yeah, he goes to a lot of races. He's
Starting point is 00:13:40 close to them in that restaurant called Ketch, which is an aria. So after you get on with your dessert, they come out with these massive fruit bowls. Like at the end, like, oh my God, what am I going to eat now? And not to, not... How much weight does you gain in Vegas? Well, luckily, I ate a lot of the fruit, so... That was one meal, so. And I, and I,
Starting point is 00:14:00 I went to go lay down after that. Couldn't. And I'm like, no, I can't do it. Yeah. So. I've heard that place is good. That's good to hear. I highly recommend going.
Starting point is 00:14:09 Even if it's just for dinner to go there and whatever, I'd go there. If you like Mexican, there's a place called Javier's and Aria. It is so good. Probably the best Mexican I've ever had. Mexican sounds great. Yeah. Javier. Is he there?
Starting point is 00:14:22 Javier? Javier? Javier. I don't know. Javier. Casey, how's Papa John's sound right now? Oh, man. I ate a lot of popcorn.
Starting point is 00:14:29 What kind of Papa John's in? What kind of Papa John pizza? Are you craving? Just cheese. Cheese with the garlic sauce. That's all you want. And Wendy's. What do you want from Wendy's?
Starting point is 00:14:36 Chicken nuggets. That's the only way I'll get protein because I can't look at it otherwise. Are you sure that that chicken nugget from Wendy's is actually chicken? Yeah. I'm kind of hoping it is because that's really all I've got. Yeah. So you're eating cheese pizza and chicken nuggets. And Girl Scout cookies.
Starting point is 00:14:52 And Girl Scout cookies. You had something funky this morning from Dunkin' Donuts. What was that? It was an egg sandwich because that's the only way I'll eat eggs. I tried making eggs. I can't eat it. Are you taking the prenatal? vitamin things? Or is that before you get pregnant, you take them? You take them before and during.
Starting point is 00:15:05 Yeah. Because it's supposed to like help with all the other stuff. And what other stuff? Like like brain development, all that. Oh, really? Yeah. But like, there's, like, food that you can eat. My mom smoked while she was pregnant with me. And he turned out okay. I was pissed off when I found out about it in the fourth grade, though. It's like, wait, what? I'm pretty, my mom did too. I go to health class and they tell you how bad it is to smoke, especially while you're pregnant. And I'm like, mom, I'm like, mom, I come home from school, mom, do you smoke while you were pregnant with me? So, yeah, I'm like, what an idiot. Who does that?
Starting point is 00:15:37 I think a lot of people smoked when they had kids back then. Yeah. I feel like that was the norm. I hate cigarette smoke. Yeah, that's the one thing that I don't like about Vegas is some of the places. Are they all? You can smoke in all of them. Yeah, it's like the secondhand smoke capital of the world. There are some interesting people in Vegas. I almost wish I went because of that.
Starting point is 00:16:03 I'll never, I mean, I don't think I've told the story before, but I was walking back. I think I went to like the Britney Spears concert one night. Me too. I went to that at MGM. The best concert ever. That's my favorite. Oh my God. She was lip syncing the whole time.
Starting point is 00:16:14 You're lying. No, but she can dance. I sat front row center in that little lounge area. It was awesome. Best concert ever, a lip sinker. Her and Millie Vanilli. Yeah, I bet you like Millie Vanilli. Well.
Starting point is 00:16:26 Girl you know it's true. Blame it on the rain that was finally falling. Keep going. Please. Anyway, sorry. Well, I walked back and it was so late and I was staying at Caesars. And you know how Seasers has like multiple towers and you get lost. I wasn't paying attention.
Starting point is 00:16:43 I was probably looking at my phone. I stopped and ask somebody, hey, do you know where this tower is? And I wasn't really paying attention. And I look up and it's a group of inmates that were cleaning the, slot machines, and there were racks of guns with the police officers next to them. Wow, that's different. Noted when you're in the middle of the night. That's your craziest Vegas story?
Starting point is 00:17:04 No, I probably have more, but that's the only one I can think of. I don't know. I can't think right now. What's the craziest thing you've seen or done in Vegas? I don't remember. I can't say what mine is, but... I went out there for Supercross, but I don't remember anything, so... That's all I got.
Starting point is 00:17:18 I'll think of it eventually. What's yours? I can't tell you. Brett? He's probably the same boat. I can't really say that I remember a whole lot about Vegas. I'm just kidding. We used to go every year for the Super Bowl,
Starting point is 00:17:32 and it would be Dale Jarrett, Elliot, me, Bob Jeffrey Digger. We used to be there when it was going on. Well, they'd test the week before, and then we'd stay over for the Super Bowl. And, man, those weekends were so fun. And, you know, this other thing, I mean, like this weekend, there was a big fighting town, so you saw a lot of celebrity Super Bowl weekend. I mean, you see Joe Thaisman playing craps. You see Dennis Robben in the bar.
Starting point is 00:17:52 You see Chevy Chavez. Chase. Like, it, uh, I mean, that's my favorite memories of Vegas is, uh, being with Dale Jarrett and those guys, because DJ knows everybody. You want to talk to Derek Jeter? He'll call Derek Jeter. You want to talk to, I mean, it doesn't matter who it is. Like, Del Jarrett literally knows everybody. And that was in the height of his career where he was winning championships and a lot of big races, you know, so, um, I mean, like we were just talking about, TJ and I used to be VIPs. Now we're not. You never know what you're going to see in Vegas. No, it's awesome. I love that town.
Starting point is 00:18:22 glad we don't go back for a while though because you have to recover but Fontana man it'll Fontana Vegas was rougher I thought than ever this weekend watching like the in cars and stuff I know it's always been rough but man it just looked it looked almost vicious inside of the cars yeah I mean I thought it looked the same or I'm honestly I don't think it looked as bad as what it normally looks to me you could definitely Vegas is one of those handling tracks mean you got to be able to get through the bumps and I like tracks like that you got to you got to get your car working. Yeah. So, and it's a challenge.
Starting point is 00:18:55 That's what all these guys in these shops work on doing, getting your car to handle right, finding that good setup. Did you see that replay of Gregson, Rick, and Snyder in an Xfinity race? Yeah. And then I heard his explanation of it, and I'm even more confused. What was his explanation? Just it was the air.
Starting point is 00:19:11 He doesn't really, he turned right. Here's the thing. Like, Nola obviously had a great Daytona, good speed weeks. Goes out wins his first race. In my opinion is a pretty fan. engaging driver, you know, especially on social media. And then he goes out and does something stupid. And I'm like, dude, you just wrecked a kid that's not even running full time.
Starting point is 00:19:31 You're not going to see this kid after another five more races. He might have chopped you off. He might have made you mad. But don't come off of your highest high and do something that makes you look stupid. Not to mention, I think Maya is driving a car. Who's he driving for? Ryan Seek. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:48 So, you know, Noah might catch him. at some point and want a little more help and maybe Noah's leading the race and this kid's going to say not today. Well, that's the kind of thing though, man. Like you really watch it and you're like, he deserves to be paid back. Like, and I think that's what a lot of our sports build on is that rivalry thing of, oh, you did this to me. Watch this.
Starting point is 00:20:09 Like that just was a dumb move on my own Louis Park. I mean, if it's an accident, say, hey, man, I got into him. I didn't mean to. I was just trying to side draft him tight. How about that? Something like that. Don't, in my opinion, I wouldn't go and say, oh, was just the air or something like that.
Starting point is 00:20:23 Something else had to let up to that. That's the way I feel about it. He tweeted something about the backstretched. That's all he said. Well, like I said, though, man, you got bigger fish to fry. You know, I don't agree with what he did. But this is the stuff that happens in the X-Penio series with these younger drivers. They haven't quite learned yet.
Starting point is 00:20:39 He hasn't quite learned that maybe he's obviously going to be in the playoffs. Now, come out first round of the playoffs, you know, he catches this guy that he had a run in with. Yeah. Who's going to make it really hard on him? I would have found him. And I think Ma'iatt's a pretty smart individual. I see Ma'iat makes, like, I don't know him that well, but I've seen him in places that I like to see young drivers to develop.
Starting point is 00:21:04 He's by himself with a scanner, goes to the roof, watches, learns what he can. I like to see drivers that get into that do that stuff, to go see another view, to go watch what people do. And this is something that I noticed this kid doing. So, and I've seen Noah doing the same thing. but you've got to pick and choose your battles, and is this worth it? No. Yeah, I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:21:25 I'm sure he'll realize it now, too. After you listen to this. Yeah. Um, I mean, I, it's, to me, it's all. depending on the wreck. Every wreck looks different. Daytona, we had Chase Elliott spinning. The field was by him.
Starting point is 00:24:01 He just kept rolling like we saw cars. We saw a couple cars spin off a four. I'm sure you saw him too. Got it straightened out, kept going down pit road or kept going, and weren't in the way. Now, if there's a big collision and the guy stopped, you got to throw it, in my opinion. No matter who it is or what's happening, you've got to throw it.
Starting point is 00:24:20 At Vegas, when I looked back, I saw probably five or six cars wrecking, hitting the wall. I saw a couple cars with pretty decent damage. I mean, even when they threw the car, and I saw two or three, I'm coming around, smoking 12, 24. We're all smoking pretty good. But when you have, I mean, when you have multiple cars, how do you not throw it at that point?
Starting point is 00:24:43 And in my opinion, I mean, if you got five or six cars spinning on the front stretch, you almost got to throw it. We're pretty packed up there like we are at Daytona, But when I saw Chase's replay, he was by himself, the field was by him, and there wasn't many cars left that anyway. I think it's hard, you know, and I think every instance is completely different. I wish NASCAR could come out and tell us what their thought process is. You know what I mean? Like, for me, if I'm in the tower, it's number one, could this wreck have caused an injury?
Starting point is 00:25:15 And if it is, that's an immediate yellow, no matter what. B, it's okay, how much time do we give everybody to get rolling? And if they get rolling and get out of the way, clear it tells us, A, the drivers are coherent, B, their car is capable of continuing on, which yesterday actually happened. But I'm telling you, I was behind this wreck, spotted Clint through the wreck,
Starting point is 00:25:35 and it looked like a gigantic wreck as we went through it. And miraculously, though, within seconds, the racetrack was clear, and we were all able to come back through there, obviously for TJ to take the checker flag and win the race. But it's hard, man. If we're at Bristol, there's no time for that because, you know, your seconds away from the leaders coming back around there versus you're at,
Starting point is 00:25:57 you know, Las Vegas where you're a half a minute from those guys coming back through there. But NASCAR does, in my opinion, a really good job of trying to be consistent. Here's the other thing. We don't know where there's debris when these things happen. Neither do the fans, neither does NASCAR. And if these guys were to come back through there at 200, 190, 180 miles an hour, or whatever it may be. And they run over something with their right rear.
Starting point is 00:26:19 I've watched Elliott Sadler take off at Michigan after he blew a right rear tire on the front stretch in practice because of a small piece of tailpipe, and it took off like an airplane. Obviously, we're a lot more further along in terms of what we do to keep these cars on the ground. But there's no reason to come back through there and put guys at jeopardy and in danger.
Starting point is 00:26:34 And I think yesterday's crash was the right move. You know, was Daytona's the right move? I don't know. I didn't really go back and watch that one. But you have to take this caution by caution. You know, sometimes, or they quick to throw, it? Yeah, but what happens is the tower is sitting there, not watching everywhere. And TJ and I'll tell you, we hear a sense of urgency in the NASCAR spotters race, right?
Starting point is 00:26:56 So they have a spotter in turn one. They have a spotter in turn two, et cetera. When that guy keys up and goes, tower backstretch, it scares me and TJ. So when they look up and see a car spinning and a sense of urgency in this guy's voice, I would imagine sometimes they're just reacting to that. Well, it needs to be that way. I mean, think about like any, even the smallest wreck could be a freak accident and caused an injury. That wreck on the front stretch was a big wreck. I didn't see John Hunter wreck. I'm like, they're like, caution, put it out. And I'm like, Clint's like, what's a for? And I'm like, I don't know. I don't see it. And then your pre chief's like
Starting point is 00:27:25 John Hunter wreck. But on that wreck is one of those times where they holler tower backstretch. So when you looked at that wrecked, there was a lot of car spinning and wrecking. Oh, yeah. So here's what I look at as well. Eric Jones squeezed William Byron up. And there was a car outside of him. I don't know if he didn't know he was three wide. It was a side of him. Blaney was outside of him. And next thing you know, they're wrecking. And I mean absolutely direction like crazy. But here's the thing I look at too. You have four or five cars, whatever, spin her out, hit the
Starting point is 00:27:51 wall. I don't want them guys trying to get it straight. I don't want Ryan Blaney to spin out after you hit the wall. Look at this picture, T.J. We'll tweet this out. I have Jason tweet up. That's Eric Jones. Look at behind him. I mean, they're four and five wide. And this guy causes the wreck and they're five wide coming into that wreck.
Starting point is 00:28:07 Yeah. Yeah, it was a big wreck. But think about this, though. Blaney gets pushing to the wall, spins out. We don't throw the yellow, and there's four or five of them trying to get, they're racing each other back to the line. The last thing we need to do is get them guys racing with wrecked race cars going down in a turn three because they will. They will. And driving up there and smacking the wall again because they're trying to keep that position. You know, I don't, that's what I'm looking at too. And we had a lot of cars wrecked.
Starting point is 00:28:31 I don't want them guys racing back around wrecked race cars. No. Something bad could happen from that and we do not, we don't need that to happen. Oh, you should have thrown the caution they wrecked. I don't want guys driving on with wrecked race cars. That cost for one spot. 100% deserve to be a caution. If John Hunter's spin were, trust me, John Hunter could have overcorrected right up into somebody, too. He's spinning it. You never know which way a car is going to go when you spin.
Starting point is 00:28:54 No. And a lot of times they do react, but I think it's, I would rather be safe and know that everyone's going to be slowing down if he comes back cross-track, at least they're reducing their speed rather than get hit. Yeah, I thought NASCAR caught a great race yesterday. I didn't have any issues of anything they did.
Starting point is 00:29:11 Yeah, I thought they did as a good job. as well. I would have called the caution on that wreck. I was screaming. My heart waving. Yeah. So she's right in front of you. I mean, every wreck was right in front of me because I ran like shit all day. No it did. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Next topic, Blaney and Bo. Hey, real quick. So this package can also lead you to a false sense of how good your car can be as well. Right. I watched you go out and practice behind 15 car lengths behind a group. Just get it wound up. get it rolling in that draft and you ran like a you ran a really fast lap first practice I was really good second practice man we got off and we never got a back but I saw you like you ran a really
Starting point is 00:29:52 fast lap because you were just kind of by yourself and you were about 10 15 car lengths behind the pack and that draft kind of pulled you up there yeah so you go in there you're like oh yeah we got a fast car but you're not racing you got to be in that group you know it's where you're racing all day yeah rarely by yourself sure go ahead thanks next topic Vlaney and Bowman go from one, two at the time of the last caution, to 11th and 13th. Spot on, spot off, Brett. Spot off. I don't know what their crew chiefs were thinking.
Starting point is 00:30:22 You know, I mean, they're in position to win the race. You know everybody is not going to pit. We were 20th at the time. I tried to talk Johnny into not pitting. Bubba was 19th at the time. Guess what he did. He stayed out. He finished 6th.
Starting point is 00:30:34 You're going to have a buffer to those guys that are on new tires. And here's the reality. You may only have to run one lap. How many laps did we run? We ran one lap. So those guys unfortunately gave us race the way on strategy. I thought Blaney was one of the best cars all day. Honestly, Clint and I were talking about at dinner on Saturday night.
Starting point is 00:30:54 Penske, in my opinion, had the most speed across the board on Friday, watching their cars handle, watching them drive through the pack. They go to the back. They'd do it again. Blaney, the 9, the 19, the 4, in my opinion, were the best four cars all day. But you got to be in position to win the race, which TJ was. Where were you third or fourth before that caution came out? third.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Your third. You make the decision, you personally made the decision to stay out, right? Absolutely. Yeah, so you stay out. You win the race kind of with ease at this point, right? Blaney gave it away. Yeah, I mean, it wasn't easy, but you got to get clear and honestly that we had to block William Byron and the one at the bottom, and if we don't block him, we're probably
Starting point is 00:31:33 aren't winning that race. It's so, man, it's so hard on restart. Who's getting the push and who's not? But what was encouraging to me yesterday, and you were up there, so I want to hear your take on it, is we would get restarts, and I would watch the four really go up there and take the lead and kind of drive off for a hot minute. And then 15 laps in, he's starting to struggle, and he's not going to be able to maintain the lead. He goes second, third, to fourth. And he was the only Stuart Hoskar that was fast. Like, what were you seeing up front of guys?
Starting point is 00:32:03 Because we did see a lot of lead changes. Yeah, he had really good short run speed. and I knew it was going to be hard to hold him off for 10, 15 last. Oh, for sure. But I knew if we did, and we were going to have a good shot at winning the race, because I figured we could hold him off and then he'd get racing with Blaney, but Blaney got around him a little quicker than I was hoping. I don't trust anybody in the glass behind me anymore.
Starting point is 00:32:26 He keeps looking back. What did you really do in Vegas? Look over your shoulder a lot today. Well, I'm looking for Mike out there beating on that piece of metal. He was creepy. Is that word? He was creeping behind that car. But, no, I thought the four had great short run speed,
Starting point is 00:32:44 and I did notice throughout the day that he would fall off about 15 laps into a run. And it's when it happened about 12 laps in. He started fading a little bit. He couldn't get quite as close, and it was hard to hold him off. We had to force him to the high side. He just never could get him off of a run to break the quarter panel. And if he did, it was going to be game on. But, you know, we were lucky and did a good job of,
Starting point is 00:33:07 Keeping him back. I mean, Harvick knows what he's doing. He's really good at Vegas. Vegas is turning into one of his like Phoenix or Richmond's or something like that. Yeah. He's really good there. Spot on, spot off. Oh, by the way, I'm spot on for them to pitting. The general role, I'll tell you this as well. The general role is if you can restart on the front row on a green-white checker, why not? You better stay out there. Why not do it? You better stay out there.
Starting point is 00:33:36 Yeah, his crew chief came over the radio and said, well, I thought a lot more. guys were living in 50. I actually did too after you had tire wear and we had 35 laps on our tires. I thought more would come. You look at Ricky Stenhouse. You look at Brian Patty. They took probably a 12th to 15th race car. They did a phenomenal job with it by calling the right race. And there are big gambols sometimes risk versus reward. And for whatever reason yesterday, man, Brian Patty looked like a genius. What's Stenhouse finished third? Yeah, I mean, he got lucky by the caution as well. 100%, but it was all by strategy.
Starting point is 00:34:13 He stayed out on a long run. He stayed out on that last one. He had a little bit better tires, I believe, than what we did because he stepped stretching the pit. He kept stretching it. And yeah, I mean, we got caught by it one time, had to wave around. Yeah. I mean, you probably did too that.
Starting point is 00:34:30 The whole field waded around. They got caught by everything. Yeah, the whole field waved. Yeah. We had the most lead changes, which were 20. at Las Vegas since 2007, which had 28. Spot on, spot off, TJ. I mean, spot on.
Starting point is 00:34:46 That's good. Lead changes. I mean, you got guys up there racing. Every time somebody got to lead, it seemed like somebody would run them down and pass them. Whether it was Blaney, the nine, us, Harvick, you had, you didn't know. One guy didn't dominate the race, I don't think. I think you had, you know, I think the 12 and the nine were probably the two best cars at the end of a run.
Starting point is 00:35:07 88 came on real strong. there near the end at one point. But good race. I mean, then there's a lot of, I mean, different manufacturers in there as well. So I was a little surprised at the speed of the other ones there. I thought they'd be better. Yeah. I was spot on for sure.
Starting point is 00:35:24 I mean, I think that sometimes the media tried to fake us out with stats like this, because when we see Green Flag pit stops, we're going to see it cycle through a lot of leaders. You know what I mean? And that happened yesterday. But all in all, like I said, I thought for the leaders to go out there mix it up, you know, us watch the 19 past the 4 and then us watch the 9 pass the 19. Those are legitimate green flag lead changes. And, you know, when that happens, we see people in the stand standing up and clapping and cheering on their guy. And, you know, even during pit stops, I think it's cool to see lead changes.
Starting point is 00:35:56 But that stat sometimes can be a little bit misleading. And this time, I don't think it is. No, I think it's just don't expect that every week, though. It's hard to get them numbers like that. But, I mean, that is a, that's a good race. Yeah. I guess you'd think so. Clearly.
Starting point is 00:36:15 This is an interesting one. Chevy places the most cars in the top 10 for the first time since Kansas last May. Spot on, spot off T.J. How many cars are in the top 10? Seven out of the 10. Wow. New nose. Or actually six.
Starting point is 00:36:33 You know, this is like, I mean, spot on for them, but with that big wreck, there was so much, there were so many people running where they might not, they shouldn't have possibly. I think that. Look, you got Austin Dillon up there. You got Bubba Wallace up there. You got guys that are, you know, Ricky Stenhouse up there. I mean, you got guys sneaking out top tens based on what we just talked about. A, pit strategy, B, missing that gigantic wreck.
Starting point is 00:36:59 You know, but shout out to those guys. I mean, I think we saw Chase Elliott have a lot of speed. We saw obviously Bowman coming on huge there at the end of the race, potentially with a chance to win if we don't have that caution there off of two. Overall, I thought the Chevroletes looked a lot more competitive than they have in a long time, but I think this particular stat is a little bit misleading, just based solely upon the names it ended up in there. The pit strategy at the end, it was a big decision, and it jumbled a lot.
Starting point is 00:37:27 And the caution coming out, one more lap, and this whole thing might be different. You got all these guys coming with tires. So Brad, Blaney, all them guys are going to be in the top 10 at that point. So you're going to knock more of them out. Another manufacturer stat. This is the first time since Texas in April of 2011 that Toyota only places one car in the top 15. Spot on, spot off. Brett.
Starting point is 00:37:51 I mean, that's obviously spot off for them. But here's my question, TJ. I'd like to know your thoughts on this too. We watch the 18, the 11, those guys have trouble in tech. and they absolutely were terrible. I haven't seen Kyle Bush that far outside of the top 10 for that much of the race ever. Denny Hamlin couldn't find the top 15.
Starting point is 00:38:10 The only guy that was up there was Martin Truex and he was the only Toyota that didn't really have trouble in tech there out of the JGR guys. So I don't think this is really about the stat that Jason's put in front of us. I think the story here is, but Toyota always tries to start the season off slow and really ramp it up as the summer gets here
Starting point is 00:38:29 as far as pushing the rules and stuff. But whatever they took away from them from that tech deal, it certainly hurt their chances. Yeah, that was a big penalty too, isn't it? Yeah, I don't. Obviously, they found something that they were trying to do that was an advantage maybe. Is that the same thing they busted Timmy Hill for in Xfinity series? I know they were both nose-related, but I didn't read enough to. I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:38:52 No. It might have been. I mean, you hear little things here and there, but. Because they busted Timmy Hill's butt on his penalty. So the question is they bust these. I mean, they took away 75 points from Timmy Hill. My man can't afford to give up 75 points. And Timmy Hill had a, he's been on fire lately.
Starting point is 00:39:12 Yeah. But, yeah, I don't know. I think, uh, that's big. I mean, obviously there was, there's something that you're always trying. I mean, they just went a little over the line, I guess. Kevin Harvig proposes a $50,000 truck series bounty and Marcus Limonis matches it on Kyle Bush for cup drivers who can beat him in his four remaining races. Spot on, spot off. Wow. Brett. I'm spot off. I want Kevin Harvick to do a side bet with Kyle Bush in a race for
Starting point is 00:39:46 $50,000. Let's make something realistic here. I mean, the odds of throwing this out there and Clint Boyer or Joy Legano or Denny Hamlin or anybody being able to throw together a competitive truck opportunity is hard. Like if you're a Ford driver, really the only Ford team is Thor Sport. Well, if you're going to go do that, they're going to throw together a part-time effort. Guess what? Kyle Busch isn't racing in a part-time effort. He's in a full-time deal.
Starting point is 00:40:11 I think it's cool they did this for the publicity of the series, but it's not realistic. Well, Chase Briscoe won a part-time effort at Odora. It's Eldora. That's different. Still race. Kyle Bush ain't in that race. I think, I mean, what if you go and Kyle does one of those Kyle things and speeds on pit road. You know what I mean? Like, I think it's cool they're putting, I mean, how about, did you
Starting point is 00:40:33 watch truck race on Friday? I did. From like fifth to about 15th is there's a lot, like, the truck series is, this is how it should be. This is how it should be. You got a lot of young kids in there, a lot of, and they're aggressive, and it's fun to watch. I mean, we got run under the apron of the when I say apron, I mean halfway down the apron, like still coming down, you're not getting there, even though we're already there. Right. We went into three on the apron and had to slide up onto the racetrack. Oh, that's bad.
Starting point is 00:41:05 But, I mean, that's what you're going to get. That's fun. That's what I'm saying. The truck race is, uh, it's great right now. And I think, um, I think it's cool that some of these guys are putting up money because I'd like to see some of them. I'd like to see one of these guys. My magic door just opened again.
Starting point is 00:41:21 I would like to see one of these guys. I think there's a ghost in here. Okay. Get in there and why not? Yeah. I would love to see it too, but it's hard to... It is hard. Have you heard of anybody trying to make it work?
Starting point is 00:41:37 I mean, let's be honest with each other. It's over $100,000 to sponsor that particular vehicle to get in a competitive situation with a good truck and a good engine and a good pit crew. So you've got to come up with $100,000 plus $1,000 in sponsorship to field the entry. Then you've got to find an owner. Then you got to find, there's a lot of moving parts and piece. Like, it's not just this easy. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:42:00 I see some manufacturers getting behind this, honestly. Then get it. Go do it. I've heard. It'll be good for the truck series if someone actually tries this. It will be awesome. They only have a few weeks, though. Atlanta is coming up.
Starting point is 00:42:14 At four races, actually. No, no, meaning like a few weeks to get it done because Atlanta's coming up. I hope somebody does it. I hope somebody goes out and takes Kevin Harvick's money. me too Marcus Lamanus too yeah I mean it was good
Starting point is 00:42:29 it was good to see them get involved in it though I love it no it's great gonna be tough to do but it's awesome let's go into fast lane three racing questions one off the wall question 30 seconds to respond to each only 30 seconds
Starting point is 00:42:42 are you gonna stop some talking good luck fast lane first question Angela Ruck spun leaving pit road what did you just say what what isn't it I'm so coming.
Starting point is 00:42:55 You're good. Keep going. You're good. You're good. He's just trying to throw you off. Don't let them win. I hate you. You're supposed to be nice to me now, okay?
Starting point is 00:43:05 Why? Because you're pregnant? Yes. Because your hormones are raging and you're crazy with pizza? Yes. Right now I don't want pizza. Right now I just want to punch you in the face for being so rude. That's those hormones we're talking about.
Starting point is 00:43:15 I'll bring my 13-year-old in here and y'all can both have hormone fest. First question. Angela Ruck spun leaving pit road for her truck qualifying run on Friday. Parker Clegerman quote tweeted the video and suggested the sport raised the qualification standards for competing in the top three series. Do you think increased standards are needed? And if so, what would they be? Brett. Wow. If you asked me this five years ago, I would have said yes, we need the standards to be increased. Unfortunately, where our car counts and vehicle counts are right now, we're not in a position as a sport to keep somebody like her.
Starting point is 00:43:54 from going out there and being in the way and being a nuisance and putting herself and others in danger. Do I think she deserves to be out there? Absolutely not. But she's not the only one. There's a lot of guys and gals that don't deserve to be out there. But I don't think we're in a position right now to be able to say, no, you can't come, and that's why she's there. Yeah, and also, this isn't the first time somebody spun out with cold tires, making a qualifying run.
Starting point is 00:44:22 I mean, it's slick down there, and it's, going to happen again at some point. TJ, she's probably three seconds off. Listen, I didn't say up to speed. I just said it's slick on the apron. It can happen. But I don't think we can, you know, hey, you spun on the apron. You're not going to race today.
Starting point is 00:44:43 The first time I ever saw this really come about as a problem. We were at Richmond, and a guy named Nur Ali rolled out. And Homeboy was several. seconds off the pace of Richmond. And look, if you're a half second off at Richmond, you're way off. This guy was seconds off. And he was getting lapped in practice. Do you know how hard that is to do? You're out there running around in practice and you get lapped by a car, meaning that Joy Lugano would pass him and then 10 laps later pass him again. Like, oh, that was when, though, you kind of started seeing the trend of, look, we had a guy named
Starting point is 00:45:20 Tyler Green. Obviously, a big legacy in the sport. Jeff Green, and David Greener's uncles, Mark Green's his dad, he was coming up through Legends cars. He tried to run a race out in Phoenix, and Brett Bodine didn't approve him. And Tyler Green, 100% should have been approved. He had some sponsorship, and that was kind of the end of that whole era where guys couldn't get approved. Now, I don't know where some of these people come from. That Quinn Huffin, that double zero, he has no idea what racetrack he's on. We talked about that last week on the show.
Starting point is 00:45:50 But it is what it is. That's the era we're living in right now. And it'll correct itself. It always does. So last week after Daytona, Cori LaJo was on Sirius XM NASCAR radio was asked if anything, he wants anything to be changed about super speedway racing after the crash on the last lap of the 500.
Starting point is 00:46:07 And Nate Ryan pointed this out on his podcast this week. And Casey's going to read the quote for us. He said, why would we change what many consider the best form of racing that we have? In my opinion, we don't change a thing. We just keep learning from these wild crashes, especially with the next-gen car coming in. Those cars are 30 to 40% safer than this. I'm excited to get in that car and put on a great show for the fans.
Starting point is 00:46:32 Should NASCAR make any changes to Super Speedway Racing, and if so, what shall it be? TJ. I don't think there's any changes to be made right now. We've kind of got this package, and we're kind of learning it now, and I think we're making changes now is probably not the best thing, especially going to the new car. How the new car is going to be?
Starting point is 00:46:51 I don't know. might need to adjust that a little bit, but I think NASCAR's done a good job of getting this package to where it's, man, we got, cars are coming, cars are going. There's a lot and still 30 to 40% safer, man. These cars are already, look at, I mean, we talk about Ryan walking out of that room. You know, I'm excited for the new car as well. I think we need the same change that we need everywhere else. We need a tire that wears out. We need guys to have to manage these tires. And if we have that at Daytona, we can keep these guys off the top of each other. Now, in a restart with brand new, fresh tires with two to go, no, it's not going to happen.
Starting point is 00:47:30 At Talladega, it's going to certainly be a lot different. Daytona's narrow. If you have to handle during the whole course of the run, you have to manage your tires during the whole course of the run, we can get these cars off of each other. You know, I love to plate race. And I honestly could do it every week. I realize it's not going to be cost-efficient for team owners, but I'm not a team owner. I'm in the business that we need to entertain. Are these races entertaining like this? Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:47:55 So, I mean, ultimately, they're not going to change anything. Yeah, I think normally Daytona, it is more of a handling track than the, I mean, there's a lot of lifting going on for handling. And there wasn't a 500 anyway. At least we were. We were fighting handling issues, but still. We were wide open through one and two yesterday. Yeah, we weren't. No?
Starting point is 00:48:16 No. I mean, by yourself, you were. Yeah. Like Kevin Harbour. with the lead he was wide open through one or two. Yeah, when chase passed us, he couldn't run wide open through one or two at Daytona. Chase passed us and he ran wide open around us on the bottom and we're in the second lane just, but we couldn't. But he was wide open. Yeah, I think so. Yeah. Which that pisses me off too that we can see each other's data. Like I shouldn't
Starting point is 00:48:35 be able to ask the question to my crew chief. Hey, is you guys got a wide open right here? My crew chief can answer it. Like, how am I able to? We're worried about stealing play calls in the Astros game, but we're not worried about still in play calls in NASCAR. It's fine. I can see T.J.'s throttle data and how much steering wheel input he's got. I can't believe we're doing that. I think there's only, I mean, in baseball, there's only so many more changes you can make to be different than anybody else. Where in writing, you can make a ton of changes. I love the data.
Starting point is 00:49:04 Nothing's proprietary to you if you're good somewhere. I don't like that. I disagree with it. I think it's, I don't think I don't, I get it, but I don't think you're going to go to Dover, you're going to go these places. and no matter what data you look at, Kyle Busch is still going to be fast. You know. But you shouldn't be able to look at his data.
Starting point is 00:49:23 It should be his talent, his secret. It still is. I mean, nobody's going to be able to drive that feel. He has that feel. I understand what you're saying, but it's still, man, that's a whole hell of a lot of information to just give away.
Starting point is 00:49:33 It is, and I love the data. I mean, I look at it a lot. I mean, me and Joey look at it a lot. We look at it more than anything else. Like, where can we be better? What can we do to stop this guy? What can we do to prepare ourselves better to race? You can just keep blocking.
Starting point is 00:49:46 like you do every week. Get out front. Get out front. Do we need to open this one again? No, we're not. We can open this one because we just add another one of these if you want. Well, I'll let Brett answer that. He did.
Starting point is 00:49:59 He won a race. Question number three. I'm sorry, what did you say? I'm not saying it again. Last year's top qualifying speed at Fontana with the current arrow package was 180. 0.081 miles per hour compared to 2018's top speed of 187.720. Do you think quicker or slower speeds produce better racing at Fontana? Fontana is unique.
Starting point is 00:50:31 We wear tires out there and it's awesome. And one of the cool things that used to be really cool about the cup cars was the speedometer in turn one. You go into turn one and that thing reads two whatever you're doing and it's like, wow, that guy is flying. Now we go there, and it isn't going to make Brett is mad this time because he's not going to be doing an Xfinity car. I don't think so. He's not going to see the Xfinity car going faster than the cup car, which I don't know if it will or it won't now. Probably will. I don't know. But Fontana's got a lot of tireware, and we love tireware.
Starting point is 00:51:04 And I think that's what's going to help produce a lot of racing. I don't care if you're going 140 or 205. When you have tireware, you got guys coming out of throttle, and you got guys lifting, you got guys getting runs. So, and I think that's what helps. Did you just double ding him, Jason? You got it. I like that. We might have some changes coming in Fastlane,
Starting point is 00:51:23 seeing where a dinger will be more in play, but we'll talk about that later. I mean, I go back to what I said last year. I don't want to beat a dead horse, but I like humans doing superhuman things. And Ryan Newman, he did a superhuman thing last week. And when I watch the Cup guys go out there and run 180
Starting point is 00:51:41 getting into turn one, and I watch the Exfinity guys out there and run 190 getting into turn one last year. Like, this is our premier series. It's supposed to be the fastest cars. Stock cars. It has to be the fastest stock cars in the world. Otherwise, it's not that superhuman feel.
Starting point is 00:51:56 So what produces a better race? I don't know. I hope Fontana puts on with the best race we've ever seen in our lives because I have grown to love that racetrack. Yeah. You know, I have had the fortune of winning there. But even when I won there, I didn't love it. Now here we are 15 years later.
Starting point is 00:52:09 That track is one of my favorite surfaces there in Atlanta that we race on all year, no matter where I end up finishing or running, it's just a phenomenal racetrack. Yeah, when you go to a track and those guys fan out, five wide, it's good racing. Someone's got to give. When you give five wide, something can happen.
Starting point is 00:52:28 You know, tension, your heart rate goes up. That's, when you go into the corner single file, it's like, man, we're good. When you go five wide, it's exciting. Business is picking up. Yeah, man, and exciting. And I mean, with this package, it's going to create that. is we're going to have them runs, man.
Starting point is 00:52:44 We're going to have guys side drafting, guys getting runs, passing them on the outside. It just makes it, it's going to be good. Yeah. Off the law topic. Couples always argue about a variety of things, but what's one thing you and your significant other always disagree on? Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:53:01 TJ. We're going to need another show. Oh, man. I'm going to go ahead, Brad, any more than 30 seconds. Probably that credit card bill comes in every month. No. I disagree with how much money spent every month. I'm like, what are we buying around here?
Starting point is 00:53:19 See this big number and I don't see anything. That's where you messed up. Where'd I mess up? You gotta keep it separate. Well, when she don't work, you can't keep it separate. But you can determine what goes into this house account in the middle. You don't messed up, Brett. Trust me.
Starting point is 00:53:37 Like I said, this is what we disagree on every month. I got to pay my credit card bill. How much is it? How much is it? I would say one thing that we argue about, yep, that's right, is doing our kids' laundry. She's a big fan of putting everything together and doing it one time. Oh, no, that's a terrible idea.
Starting point is 00:53:59 It's a terrible idea. You've got to do the colors. Or I can't stand. I don't mind doing the kids' laundry, but I don't want there's... You don't want your laundry in with the kids. Is that what you're saying? Or hers, because I can knock the kids out real quick. quick and put it away.
Starting point is 00:54:13 If they, she waits and does her laundry. First of all, she's a woman. Why are you doing laundry? That's her job. Stay home dad, man.
Starting point is 00:54:19 Stay at home, dad. I do the, I'll do the kids laundry and my laundry, but I can't do the kids laundry. You clean the windows too? Yeah, you mop?
Starting point is 00:54:27 Yeah, if you're for hire, man, I'll hire you. Yeah, I need a maid. I always needs your credit card. I got it.
Starting point is 00:54:34 When she does laundry, she'll have four baskets to do at one time. I'm like one and done and done. I do laundry. I do laundry. it done. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:42 Literally in my bedroom right now, there's probably three baskets of clothes. What do you wear when you're doing laundry? You wear like one of the cute little maid outfits? A robe? I don't know. No, I just can't. I don't procrastinate on things in my house. I don't let things.
Starting point is 00:54:58 I don't like walking in and seeing my countertops have, you know, school papers from last week on them. When Mallory comes to school, she hangs her bag up, gets her lunchbox out, gets her water bottle, takes it into the kitchen. Anything she didn't eat, put it back in the refrigerator. or wherever it goes. Like, she gets up in the morning, she makes her bed. Drill Sergeant, man.
Starting point is 00:55:17 Tough. Yeah. Learn from this. Guys are the worst. No, I mean, you make them do their chores, like strict. I think I have a few years before that. Do you pay them to do their chores? Yeah, actually.
Starting point is 00:55:31 Yeah, how much they make? What's the going ready for chores? Madeline is really big in a reading, and now she wants new books like every other week. And so I'm like, all right, well, did you get, did you make your bed every day last week. Yep. Did you help your mother? Did you do this?
Starting point is 00:55:44 Yep. Yep. Okay. Well, I mean, books are cheap, too, for her. So you're not paying her anything. You're bribing her with books. I think that's great. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:52 I'd rather buy her books and give her cash because she gets cash. She's just going to go by. Starburst or something. No, she's going to buy one of them egg things that you crack open and they go everywhere. And it's one of them little thing. What are you? Tomoggi things? No, bigger than that.
Starting point is 00:56:08 I don't know. I'm not really into toys these days. I don't know what's out there. It's. Yeah, it's ridiculous. Bode's into balls. Thank goodness. Basketballs, footballs, baseballs.
Starting point is 00:56:20 My man's a animal. He's a baller. Oh, all right. He is. Ask DBC. Send in your questions 24-7 on Twitter using the hashtag AskDBC. This first one is from Crazy Razzie 71. When Clint lost radio contact with you and the crew chief,
Starting point is 00:56:43 what are the steps either you or Clint have to take to get it back? And if you're unable to get it back, would NASCAR allow you to race? Obviously, Brett. Yesterday's instance, we could hear Clint. There were a few laps where he could not hear us. T.J. and I listen to ourselves. So when we talk, we automatically hear ourselves in another ear, in one of our ears, rather not in another ear.
Starting point is 00:57:09 But in one of our ears we hear our radio to make sure A, it's on, B, it's clear. We will confirm with the crew chief on Channel 2 that he can hear us on Channel 1, which Johnny did yesterday. So then it's a matter of Clint figuring out what he did inside of the car, which God only knows, this is Clint Boyer, what could possibly be going on in there. He could have turned it down. But once he realizes he has issues, he can go to channel a different radio. They have a knobbing, flip-up, boom, go to another radio. So for us, for the most part, there's usually an easy fix. However, if we have a cable go bad inside the race car, that can be a huge problem,
Starting point is 00:57:43 which is why you carry two radios. Yeah, it's never, gosh, losing contact is never fun for anybody there. Whether his ear, a lot of times the things come unplug from his helmet or something, and it's a quick fix, but never a good moment with us. You don't want that feeling when... There's two feelings that are bad, the one that we're talking about, and the other one is we have bad. on our radios, right?
Starting point is 00:58:10 And for whatever reason, when they beep, it means they're going dead. Well, they never beep when you're out there riding around by yourself. Under caution, never beat. You can be like rattling off lap times and being like, hey, man, you need to run a 20 right here. Radio's fine. You say green flag. Right, yesterday, you five-wit-wind-wind and restart. Green, green, green, inside, outside, outside three.
Starting point is 00:58:27 And it's like, oh, my battery's going dead. And you're in the middle of a hell of a bind. And it's like, how do I get out of this without, you know, screwing up? So you're dropping batteries, you're dropping batteries, you're throwing them back on. It's quick. Those are the two worst feelings for a spotter is, A, there's a radio problem on our end or theirs, and B, your radio goes, br-dr-d-this happens about every race with this package here. It happened to me yesterday.
Starting point is 00:58:50 I looked down in a thing, had two bars, and I'm like, what is your deal? You're still beeping at me. That happened to me, same thing. Like, I looked at it, and I'm like, what? Not one bar flashing or no bars. It's got two bars. What's your problem? I'm racing.
Starting point is 00:59:03 It, like, knows you're racing. We've got to bring one in here that makes that noise so y'all can hear it. because when we hear that, it literally your heart sings. I got out three of them from yesterday. Oh, no. Spotter problems. Spotter problems. Spotter's lives matter.
Starting point is 00:59:15 Yes. This next one is from Solomon 7003. Now with two races completed, how, if any, is the reduction of two road crew members affecting the team? T.J. I don't, I think everyone was adjusted. I think everyone figured it out in the offseason late last year. Some teams started adjusting last year.
Starting point is 00:59:37 They left a guy at home sometimes to try it out and get used to it. I think everyone's adjusted to do it. And honestly, with the way these cars are now and the way tech is, it's not like what it used to be. Back of the day, they used to swap motors. They used to do stuff like that. I think the teams have done a really good job of figuring out what personnel they need there. and I haven't noticed a problem.
Starting point is 01:00:06 I just think, man, NASCAR audited themselves a few years ago, and they got a lot leaner on their side of things. I mean, I look down there at the Daytona 500 this year, and they ask the officials are the drivers ready, and the officials make sure the drivers are buckled in, their windinets are up, and when the cars that they're responsible for are ready, they hold their hand up. Well, it used to be you had 43 officials standing down there,
Starting point is 01:00:29 one for each car. And now we've got like six officials standing down there. So I think as they got leaner on their side, they've been very responsive to RTA, which is obviously our race team alliance where owners are looking at ways to cut money. And obviously personnel is certainly one way to do it. And I think that's the trend that we've seen is just, you know, we keep getting more and more efficient. I mean, I look at JRM, Junior Motorsports, when we were here with Elliott, T.J.
Starting point is 01:00:57 and our teammates, he was on Justin Algear's team. they made a rule, and Junior Motorsports went from taking one shot guy on every single team to taking one shot guy to cover four teams. So I think when you look at some of the efficiencies that are out there that can be made, that can save teams money, team owner's money, you're just going to see that trend keep continuing. And owners are sharing more information about their books than they ever have. And because of that, I think it opens up the possibilities for us to see. And all we hear about is Gen 7, you know, cutting.
Starting point is 01:01:29 out more jobs, more jobs, more jobs. So I think it's just a trend of the sport. Yeah, I agree. This last one is from Justin Handa 16. And the question is, what would it take to let Brett and T.J. name my baby. And we've already done this. Absolutely nothing. We've already done this. What if I gave you a thousand dollars right now? I can't tell you the ideas that they've provided already before I was pregnant. The people who tweeted me questions are baby name ideas. Motor? Yep. There's a lot of things that you can do with the last name boat.
Starting point is 01:02:03 I want a thousand bucks playing craps. You wouldn't take it to let me name your baby. No. Middle name. No. Yeah, it's just the middle name is all we care about. No. Honestly.
Starting point is 01:02:12 You know, I will say, it's kind of funny because my dad is a six-time world champion offshore powerboat racer. Right. So. Perfect. Things are lining up. The idea of like race. It is pretty funny how like. What's that?
Starting point is 01:02:25 Like the idea of like race boat or like as a middle name because when you Just say it. What? The word. Race boat? No. What power is the boat? This is not going to be my child's name.
Starting point is 01:02:39 I want my child to get friends in school, not be bullied. Oh, he'll have... What? It's a girl, so you can't use that. I actually think it's a boy. No. Chad wants a girl. I think it's a girl.
Starting point is 01:02:51 I think it's a girl. I think it's a boy. I think it's a girl. There's like different things that you can look up, like, wives tales. Chad's going to be... I haven't looked yet. Chad's going to be, like, so hurt if it's not a boy. He does not want a boy.
Starting point is 01:03:05 Really? Yeah. He wants a girl all the way. I'll tell you, girls are the best. They are. Until they make friends and then they are meaner than hell to each other. Boys are like drama-free.
Starting point is 01:03:16 Girls are like, oh, my gosh, it's the worst. The stories I hear when my kids come home and social media makes it worse. And it's nauseating to know how females honestly treat each other in school. Yeah, I haven't got all the way to there yet. Oh, you just... Dude, you just wait. They're like Black Widow spiders. I hated middle and high school.
Starting point is 01:03:34 I was miserable. I can see why. Boys don't have all their problems. My sister was involved in all that. It was every other day. This guy broke up with her. Oh, my gosh. This guy...
Starting point is 01:03:44 I can't even understand why females now hang out with guys more than they do females. Because guys don't do drama for the most part. These girls, they click up. And then one day they hate each other. Next day they won't stop Facebooking each other or FaceTiming. I'm like, I thought, I thought. we were mad at each other yesterday. Oh, we're not mad at TikTok.
Starting point is 01:04:02 And it's unbelievable. Well, Justin, to answer your question, absolutely nothing is going to allow these guys to answer. Wait a minute. Nothing? No. Just the middle of name. I mean, I'd be open to hearing your ideas that are more serious than motorboat. But yes. Well, we do find out the gender in a few weeks. So maybe we'll do a game or something. When is that? Yeah. We're doing a gender reveal on the show? Not on the show.
Starting point is 01:04:29 Yes, let's bring chat in here and do it. Can we do two gender reveals? We can do a live show. How about we do two gender reveals? Like you do yours and then we'll do it like after you do yours. So you don't know it? Okay. Yeah, we'll do the show.
Starting point is 01:04:41 Can we bet on it? Try to plan the gender reveal so it goes out right before the show comes out. Okay, I'll try and figure it out. You know what I mean? We can do like games or something too. I got it's a female. I chat, well, he wants a female too. Yeah, he wants to go.
Starting point is 01:04:54 You don't have a hundred bucks. I can't bet you. TJ ain't I bet. I'm not betting. Jason's he still broke from college. You got it. Not anymore. He's on salary.
Starting point is 01:05:02 He said you got it. He's on salary. Casey, go raise a hundred bucks. Let's bet. You got boy, I got a girl. I don't. You can control it. Tell Chad, you need to borrow a hundred bucks.
Starting point is 01:05:12 She just wants to bet a Papa John's pizza. That's all she wants. Oh, God. Like, I don't know. What if Brett was the value a year's supply of pop or a six months supply of pizza? I hope I'm over this Papa John's pizza craving soon because I need to stop. We'll do that. We'll do six months to make ultra versus.
Starting point is 01:05:26 six months of baby formula. How about we just make it a year of baby formula? Just do diapers. Diapers. Just do diapers all the way. Get me a ton of diapers and the good ones. I'm going to go and tell you. They're bad.
Starting point is 01:05:43 Don't get like the young ones because you're going to have so many of them for baby showers and stuff. Get like size fours and stuff because that's when you're going to have buying them a lot. Brett, take notes for what you're going to get me. Okay. Diapers. I bought more like size four diapers than I did anything else. What's more important than diapers is that aqua fours.
Starting point is 01:05:58 stuff and that desicent stuff. Dezotan. That stuff cures, I don't know, it cures everything. That's the skin on the baby, Casey will go to just bad. And you put this little stuff, aquifer, dceston, you mix it together make this little concoction, you should rub it on there. Next day it's gone. It's brand new, beautiful skin. It's pretty amazing. You know what desetin is?
Starting point is 01:06:18 Yes. Have you ever got it on your fingers before? No. You can't get it off. Like you get a little bit on, you're right, but the next thing, you know, it's like super glue. You're like, take a shower and you still can't get it off. I clearly have a lot to learn. Yeah. It's come to my house for 30 minutes. It's all it'll take. Just go over mine.
Starting point is 01:06:32 I'll take care of cell for a day. You'll see what it's like. The only thing that's bad is just anyway, go ahead. I'm not going to start that. Yeah, no. It's bad. Hell, let's give everybody a t-shirt this week. Offer pads kind enough to supply us with these lovely t-shirts,
Starting point is 01:06:46 which we're going to do a redesign on, too, by the way. Make some new ones. Slide into Jason's DMs. And then we have an Apple podcast review. We'll give a shirt too from Luke Calvert 7. He says, I don't think those within NASCAR know how in Sightful they are at times. They say things that are normal to them like descriptions of runs, moves, mentality of a driver or spotter in the moment.
Starting point is 01:07:05 But us fans can't wait to hear this type of information that makes racing that much better. Appreciate it. So we'll send Luke if you want to DM me on Twitter at Hey Jason Schultz. I'll send you a shirt as well. And retweet the Dirtymoan media tweet with the DBC post every week. And we'll select one person retweets it for a shirt as well. Luke, that was nice of you. Yeah, that was great.
Starting point is 01:07:23 Very nice, Luke. Good job. Very good review. What are you ranting about? I met your friend yesterday Jason Yes he told me about it he wanted to call me back to tell me Andrew yeah I saw Andrew yeah what does he do yeah what does he do exactly So he's like the youth reported for NASCAR focusing on kid initiatives
Starting point is 01:07:39 He's good he's really good at also the co-host Redhead Racing Radio Well yeah that's that's what I was about to get to so so now that you so do we need to make you sign an exclusive Podcast deal I mean he's moonlighting on us TJ Yeah I know he's been doing it no it's some good practice like I can bring ready Wow. That scared me. Kyle Busch didn't know the race was over yesterday. That scared me. Holy cow, man.
Starting point is 01:08:05 Like, I mean, Joey's celebrating talking, you know, and like, thanks guys, blah, blah, blah. Dude, what if he were to, like, move up a little bit right there? So TV show Kyle Busch do that? That's the broadcast. Wow. Does he not know what yellow means? I don't know, man. Like, it literally scared me because I didn't know what...
Starting point is 01:08:23 That's fine-worthy. I know he was probably Matt. how he finished. I don't care if he's mad. You slow your pace and that's fine worthy. That made me nervous. T.J. just showed me a video of Kyle Busch running 120 around Joey the guy on a run in 30. Around everybody. Yeah. That's fine worthy. That's where they were fine. Yeah. That's stupid. It made me... Don't your temp at tension with your motor home. That you drug all the way to the West Coast. It just made me nervous because Joey was talking and I could not tell him and I don't know if he's, I'm guessing he didn't
Starting point is 01:08:52 under his belts or anything yet, but I can't tell him. He's certainly not. He's certainly not poised to be in an accident at that point either. No, and I mean, I'm not saying he's going to swerve up right there, but what if? What if? What if somebody doors him to sell him a good job? Yeah, what if? So, yeah, that made me nervous. Be saying, man.
Starting point is 01:09:09 Where's that at? Where's that clip at? Just the broadcast? Yeah. Recording? Wow. Tweet it. No. Not tweeting it.
Starting point is 01:09:16 I just want to make sure. That was stupid. Yeah, just slow down, man. I know it's not the greatest day, but. In and out. In and out can't be that good. It was pretty good last night. Did you go Gail-N-Out?
Starting point is 01:09:27 Yeah, Josh had to have it. Oh, yeah. Josh loves them some in-and-out. Did you get protein style or did you get a normal bun? No, I don't. You don't eat it? I will, but not. I don't.
Starting point is 01:09:36 I'm not like... Dude, if you get it wrapped in lettuce, it's just as good as the bun thing. Some people, when they go out west, they got to go to Lake In-N-Out. They got, and I'm not... I'm not either. I'll eat their fries, but I don't like anything. Yeah, whatever. Thanks.
Starting point is 01:09:51 Yeah. Casey bless. Well, I just want to thank everybody who commented, tweeted, tweeted, messaged, like... What is twaded? Tweeted. I said tweeted.
Starting point is 01:10:02 You sounded country. You did right there. Well, thank you for everyone who sent messages of kind well wishes. We are so excited and it was really cool to see how many people
Starting point is 01:10:14 were excited for us. Yeah. And if you want to send egg sandwiches for Casey in the morning, if you want to... Duncan Donuts, please. Duncan donut egg sandwich for Casey. When I was in here,
Starting point is 01:10:24 I'll listen ate for three days. as she was eating that thing. I mean, but that's the only way I'll get eggs. I can't. I get it. I tried making eggs. I can't eat it. I can't look at chicken right now.
Starting point is 01:10:33 Why? I don't know. It makes me sick. So chick filet, no? No. You can't do chick filet? No. Oh, man.
Starting point is 01:10:42 Like, I'm almost, I could probably try and do a chicken biscuit, but I... What's your next race? Not Atlanta. Atlanta? Yeah. Yeah. Atlanta and Miami. My birthday weekend.
Starting point is 01:10:53 Oh, awesome. Mm-hmm. But, uh, Miami. Yeah, so I don't. So you're missing this whole West Coast swing. Yes. Lucky you. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:01 Yeah. Honestly, a four or five hour flight doesn't sound dreamy right now. But. You're going to be pregnant in the summer when it's so hot. I know. But it was either that or pregnant when Chad is on the West Coast for like a month and then Chili Bowl. So it was either have my husband or not have my husband. Lots, lots of change coming in Casey's life.
Starting point is 01:11:24 Yes. But thank you all so much. It was really cool to see, and we'll be sure to keep you updated with, you know, lots of pictures since everybody loved seeing my winning pictures. I can't wait. It's going to be the best. Make your pick, loser. I know, dude. Kyle Bush let me down.
Starting point is 01:11:40 You can't do better than what I did right there. No. No. And, you know, Matt DeBandetto. Did I say it right? No. Debenadetto. He ran seventh to ninth all day.
Starting point is 01:11:51 Solid day. And pulls out a second place finish again because of pit strategy. Good for him, man. Obviously, his first real race in a really good car at a downforce track. You know, the stuff he was in last year at mile and a half stuff and two-mile stuff was not Gibb stuff. It was Levine stuff. So, I mean, Ross Chastain debuted in a good car too. Had a good first stage, finished 10th.
Starting point is 01:12:14 Then his day kind of went a ride. He ended up spinning out late. Good to see those guys like that, though, get good rides. Because T.J. and I, when we got here, guys had to get in rides that were capable. but running 20th and worked their way up, and eventually you got tabbed to be, you know, in a really good car. And now a lot of these kids, you know, even like Eric Jones,
Starting point is 01:12:33 they come blow through here in the very best stuff. And boom, that's where they're at. Sores, boom, that's where he was. You know what I mean? Like you don't necessarily see guys work their way up like LaJoy's does, like Chastain does, like Matt D. Benedetto does. Good job. That was good.
Starting point is 01:12:47 Yes. So anyway, I don't really know who I want to pick, T.J. Tell me I can go first. Toyota sucked last week. Your cars were fast. So I'll just pick you, a 22 car. All right, I'll pick Ross. What's Ross in?
Starting point is 01:13:02 Probably the six. Yeah, we don't know that. You think? Brett, you already know, so you might as well just... Good call. I'm taking him. I have one more rant. Okay.
Starting point is 01:13:14 Oh, God. They just, I don't know if you guys have looked on the Journeymo Media store and the new website, but there's some really nice clothes, and I'd like a shirt, you know, maybe to wear, since we're on the show. So Davis, donor, Leah, if you're listening, please, I just really want a shirt. So go in there and buy one. I've been doing this for, this is our fifth year? Probably, something like that.
Starting point is 01:13:35 This is our fifth year. I stole a t-shirt out of the gift shop one time because I had something I had to do and I needed to have that on. And I stole a hat one time. And I just told Miss Kathy, I write this to Mike Davis. So go in there, get whatever you want and just put it on my tab. Deal. That's it.
Starting point is 01:13:51 That's all that. Buy a double extra large, though, so you can grow into it this summer. I'm not getting that big, okay? I'm going to stop with Papa John. You just said you wanted a baggy. No, I didn't. You told me earlier you were not wearing any tight clothes anymore. You're wearing baggy clothes.
Starting point is 01:14:05 Yeah, because it's just not comfortable. Same. That's what being Freddie do all the time. I know how Freddie feels. All right. Thank you guys so much for listening. Be sure that you share link, retweet, like, comment. Give us some love.
Starting point is 01:14:20 Have a great week. We're sleep deprived. I'll. Yeah. See you. Check out Dirty Mo Media on YouTube. Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Dirty Mo.
