Door Bumper Clear - 167 - I Would Have Fenced Him!
Episode Date: March 23, 2020The first quarantine episode of Door Bumper Clear brings you Brett Griffin, T.J. Majors, Freddie Kraft, Casey Boat, and Jason Schultz from their homes as they discuss the latest Coronavirus news impac...ting NASCAR and Sunday’s iRacing Pro Invitational. NASCAR announced the postponement of all events until May and the sport’s intention to make up all races before the playoffs, and the gang reacts. While T.J. spotted the iRacing event, Brett and Freddie participated in a live stream broadcast while enjoying some beverages and talk all about it. Plus, they cover the close finish between Denny Hamlin and Dale Jr. Brett tried his hand at iRacing and tells us how it went. In Xfinity Fast Lane, the guys debate which driver would make the best crew chief, the status of the Next Gen car’s 2021 debut, former racers they’d like to see on iRacing, which Cup driver could succeed in IndyCar, and NASCAR’s equivalent of Tom Brady’s move. Lastly, Freddie explains how he survived coming home to his wife after last week’s show and Casey’s dog Susan makes multiple appearances and has a lot to say. Want more DBC? Welcome to Door Bumper Clear.
I'm Jason Schultz, and we are all coming to you remotely this week.
Brett, T.J. and Freddie will cover Brett and Freddie's iRacing live stream broadcast, NASCAR postponing all events until May, and races they wish they could have reset.
Here we go in three, two, one.
That's PJ Majors. This is Brent Ripman.
Hey, me too now. This is Freddie Cratt.
Get ready.
Be ready.
Be ready.
Be ready.
Be playing.
Give me what you got here.
New leader.
I'll watch out for this guy.
White flag.
Reconnaise.
Hello.
Clear.
Bring home.
Three lights.
Goreeper.
Bumper.
Clear.
Hey, everybody.
I'm T.J. Majors.
Spotted the, uh, the, uh, the, E-Sports 22 car.
In full studio today.
Not really.
Brett Griffin.
I'm not sure why I brushed my teeth and put clothes on because we're not in studio.
But here I am.
I didn't spot for a damn thing.
Leah and Jason and Mike Davis were kind of enough to let me and Freddie do a little show.
That was certainly fun.
Well, here we are, DBC.
Yeah, what's up?
Freddie Craft, spotter for Bubba, usually.
Spotted coming to green yesterday.
He knows about it.
But we definitely had a lot of fun yesterday, so we'll talk about that, I'm sure.
And we got Casey in the house.
We're kind of in her house.
In my house.
Oh, and of course we can't forget producer Jason.
Thank you for setting all this up.
Of course.
You better not square it up.
I'm very concerned.
It's all going to be a disaster, but we'll see.
We'll see how it goes.
Does anybody else feel like Leah's face is really close to her screen for some reason?
She is.
Hey, guys.
I'm Leah.
Hi, Leah.
What are you reading?
What up, Leah?
Hey.
Leah's on here, too.
Leah, are you far-sighted?
Her audio is not recording, so we can't talk to.
Oh, we can't talk to Leah.
We can't talk to here, Leah.
Bummer.
Jason, explain to everybody how we're attempting to record this,
because this is a cluster.
Yeah.
So we're all on Skype right now,
and we're all individually recording our audio on our phones.
This is exactly how I record the podcast I do with my friend Andrew,
and so I'm experiencing this never with five people before.
So I'm fairly confident something is going to go wrong,
but we have a couple backup options.
Just plug yourself again.
I didn't say the name of the podcast.
I just said with my friend Andrew, I plugged him.
That's about it.
There's my other podcast, guys, in case you want to give it a listen.
Redhead Racing Radio.
Redhead.
Yeah, exactly.
All right.
We used to take a shot of a redhead something in college.
Oh, do not say the word shot to me today at all.
Why not?
Yeah, how are you guys feeling?
Great.
We drank six gallons of fireball and 400 beers, but we're fine.
Cabin fever, maybe.
Haven't left the house, really at all.
I've seen more people out with kids and dogs and stuff
walking in the neighborhood and then I have, I've seen like a year's worth and a week's worth.
True.
I've met my neighbor for the first time and I've lived here for three years.
So that worked out well.
It's honestly, I don't know how people are, what do you mean?
I travel a lot.
Are you not outside?
No, I don't.
I don't get out much.
Sorry.
Fred, you know your neighbors?
I used to have Ian.
Ian Moy was my neighbor for, he just moved up.
But here's my next door neighbor for the year.
Nice.
Hey, but you have a lot of room on your couch for all your neighbors.
Yeah, couch right behind me, you can't see it.
I think I got to blurt out.
Freddie's the most IT-sophisticated guy with the blurred-out background.
And I promise you, I'm not IT-sophisticated.
That's a random occurrence.
I have no idea how that happened.
See, we're all looking at each other, Skype's in his main cave room with his SIM rig in the background.
Freddy's got everything blurred out.
Casey, Casey, I'm wondering.
and I look at Casey and Leah here.
Casey, why are there mirrors on your ceiling?
Yeah.
There's not, it's on my wall.
She turned around a look.
Oh my God, she's lost her mind already.
She didn't.
I'm wondering how much dusts on top of those ceiling fans is what I want to know.
That's my biggest worry right now.
How much what?
How much dust is on top of those ceiling fans?
I actually have had a lot of my time on my hand, so I cleaned.
Don't worry.
I cleaned on my birthday weekend.
It was great.
Happy birthday again.
Yes.
Happy birthday.
How old are you?
We said it yesterday on our broadcast, but I doubt you were watching that.
You look amazing for 40.
Yeah.
I hate you.
I hate you with a passion.
If one more person says my age and no, I'm not 40.
She's not 40.
38.
If one more person says my age
And then one other person says it's okay
She's hormonal I swear I'm gonna lose it
Because I've gotten both of those this weekend
You're probably gonna hear that a lot
Well, I'm stuck inside
No, I'm stir crazy
I'm stuck inside doing nothing
On my birthday I literally spent it watching SEAL team
That's all I got
And watched my husband install an iriscing rig in my living room
But she didn't watch you, Brett or Freddie on your live stream.
I didn't.
Sorry.
So talk about that.
How was that?
How was that experience watching eye racing and watching broadcasts?
Well, I mean, we might have put Dirty Moe out of business.
I'm not sure how the FCC felt about it, but I thought we had a hell of a time and seemed like everybody else enjoyed it.
I don't really remember what happened.
That's great.
No, I'm kidding.
It was actually awesome, man.
I really enjoyed all the questions that we got.
Hannah came over and kind of moderated that.
She's our part-time host.
She was willing to come over.
Our full-time host wasn't even willing to watch.
So I think we've got to have a priority conversation on a separate conference call today.
It was my birthday, okay?
Your birthday that was obviously full of activity.
And I wasn't invited.
So why would I watch?
You were invited like everybody else.
We sent out a tweet to everybody.
I'm supposed to be special.
No, Jason, it was awesome.
Thanks for what you and Leah did.
I know that I text Mike about it.
Mike was like, man, I'm in, let's do it.
And I know you and Leah actually were the ones that did all the work to make it happen.
So thank you guys.
And your outfits were spot on.
Yeah, we look good, didn't we?
Or Brett, probably look a little better than anybody else.
Brett, do you wear those shorts in public?
Yeah.
Yes.
Like an idiot.
That's concerning.
Yeah.
They're like $200 pair of jeans.
What's the first thing you noticed about those shorts, Casey?
Well, they, uh, I don't know.
even know how to describe them.
So people will talk about Brett's do funny hanging out
and they're in the broadcast.
It wasn't.
That was my time between my legs.
Our old studio,
because we had they sit on the couch.
And Jason, you staff to say,
can you please close your leg?
Disaster.
Oh, boy.
Anyways,
so shall we kick the show off
or anything else you guys want to BS about?
Well,
don't really have a lot to talk about.
How many times do you've been at a grocery store in it last week, T.J.
Zero?
Yeah, I haven't been at all.
How much toilet paper you got?
I don't know.
Enough, I guess.
I don't have like 400 rolls like these other people are doing, but I went right before
it got really bad.
I went to Costco and filled my freezer up in the garage.
So that was probably a good move to do that.
and we've been just cooking at home and eating at home every meal.
So, found pots and pans I didn't even know I had.

Spot on, spot on.
Spot on, spot off.
He's spot off.
Spot on, you like it.
Spot off, you don't like it, and you say one either way.
Spot on, spot off.
First topic.
NASCAR postpones all events until at least.
Martinsville in May. How about the homeover one, Freddie?
Spot off. I want a race. Damn, my liver can't handle anymore at these virtual races.
I don't think we can do that much more. But, I mean, just spot off, man.
It's just, I mean, we talk about how much it sucks for some of the people in the industry.
And maybe, you know, some of the, I think was Weaver wrote a pretty good piece on people that are, you know, that live paycheck to paycheck, basically.
Now they don't know where the next paycheck's coming from. So, you know, I mean, two months.
off is a lot for somebody who doesn't have a job right now. So hopefully we can get back sooner
than later, but definitely spot off right now. Brett. Oh, man, where do you start? I think the good
news for us is we're postponed. We're not canceled, right? So we're still going to make all these
races up. I mean, the thing is, you know, we're certainly out of our norm with not racing right now.
I think the weird thing for us is going to be when we go back. We're looking at least three weeks
where we're going to run on Wednesday nights. We're looking at losing off weekends in July. And
all I can do at this point between all of us and all of our friends and all of our families and all of our fans is just pray that Marsville weekend is truly when we get to go back because there's a lot of sports looking at dates that are a lot further down the line than that I said last week on the show that talking about two weeks out I could live with talking about seven weeks out holy cow that's hard to swallow so I'm spot off for all of us the fans of industry the country everything that's going on right now it sucks yeah I don't I don't know how you can you know it's hard to be
It's hard to be spot on when a lot of people are, you know, per race, you know, paid for the, when you do the work.
And it is a long time to go.
I can see where you want to be safe with it.
I don't follow the numbers closely every day, but it seems like getting together in large groups still is probably not the smartest decision yet.
But hopefully we can everybody can do their part and flatten that curve out so we can get back to racing sooner than later.
Now, with other sports such as F1 moving really their first race, I don't think will be until June,
and then talks of IndyCar even moving the Indy 500, although they haven't really announced anything,
do you think this will kind of be guidelines or how NASCAR will make a decision as to whether or not we would go back in May, I guess, with Martinsville?
Or do you think they would still race whether IndyCar moves theirs to June along with F1?
I think they do it based on what the government's telling us,
and I think they obviously follow the CDC's recommendation
for what they've come up with in terms of when we're planning to return.
I just hope that that stays on schedule.
I'm glad we aren't looking at further dates than what we are right now.
I think the good news is, you know, Mother's Day, it's just around the corner.
I know it sounds like, you know, six, seven weeks away,
but in no time it'll be here.
The good news for us is we have a lot of supportive sponsors,
a lot of supportive fans.
I can really see us, if we have to, racing all the way through December,
You know, obviously I don't want to have to do that.
But I really believe NASCAR fullheartedly wants to make these races up.
Yeah, that's also.
The good thing is they said we're not canceling races.
We're still, sponsors are still going to have their cars and them races,
which means there's still money coming in for them races.
So that's, you know, basketball or somebody like that can shorten their season.
You know, I think there's been some businesses where they have done that.
Didn't they do that in baseball or something once or twice?
They had to shorten a season or something.
They've had strike short in seasons, yeah.
Yeah, so, I mean, I'm glad we can, you know,
I'm sure they're making decisions on, you know,
when we do go back, if we're going to run some,
I'm sure we might get us some midweek races and stuff like that.
So I don't know, when we go back racing, it's going to be busy.
Brett, do you think you can get your cord on your headphones any more tangled,
or is that as bad as it gets right?
That's nice.
That's on purpose.
It's so that I don't, like when I sit on a plane,
my court is like 10 foot long.
I can't have my cord on in somebody else's space.
It's got a little bread tie around it, Fred.
It kissed my ass.
Oh, I got you.
Anyways, that leads us to our second topic.
Steve Phelps says the plan is to run all rescheduled races before the playoffs.
Spot on, spot off Brett.
Spot on.
I just hope we don't have to push the playoffs back.
I mean, I think that's what it really comes down to is can we get these races in,
get them in in time?
You know, obviously, you know, whatever those cutoff races are, man,
We got to, the Daytona's the last one, right?
So we've got to have all these races run by the time Daytona rolls around.
And if not, we're going to have to start looking at pushing those weekends back in the fall slash early winter,
depending on what happens with the schedule.
So Phelps and his guys have done a great job.
The communication has been good to all of us, and, man, fingers crossed.
DJ, we're ready.
I think, you know, it's going to be,
Daytona is not going to have the pressure,
and that date isn't going to be as relevant as what everybody anticipated being
because of a plate race, there are already anything can happen.
A lot of people have that race circled on their calendar
for a chance to get into the playoffs.
So I think we need to try to get everything done before that time.
That needs to be the cutoff race because that's going to be super exciting
and pressure-packed if we get to that race.
Yeah, I mean, spot on for, we have to get them all in.
You'd like to get them all in.
Me, and Brett sat down and looked at, you know, some weekends.
You have two off weekends in July.
Right now, as of right now, I think we're okay.
Like, if we just miss these races up until Martinsville,
we have enough time built into the schedule where we can make them up.
If we go much past Martinsville, I think it'll be difficult.
But like these guys saying, Daytona the cutoff race,
there's a lot of excitement built around how the chase is laid out with these short tracks,
you know, as cut off races and short tracks being the determining factors for the next rounds and
stuff. So, you know, you don't want to, you don't really, you want to go through with that.
You don't want to, you don't want to have to adjust that schedule. And hopefully, I think as long as we
get racing by Mortonsville, we should have enough time to make these races up.
I have to say, I think from, Brett, you mentioned this. Like NASCAR has done a really
great job with communication. I think from a sponsor's standpoint, if you think about all of the
sponsors in this sport, too, who have activations planned for every single one of these races, I mean,
that's a huge deal. We're not sure financially what that means. Activation-wise, like,
these are, you know, companies have top markets such as, like, Dover is huge for Xfinity. So,
you know, when you think about not being able to go to that race or have that race in general,
that's, I mean, that's a huge financial impact and really a bummer for everybody. So hopefully
they'll be able to work on something with the schedule and make it work. It sounds like they're
doing a great job, though. And communication has been flawless, honestly.
Yeah, I mean, that's the cool thing about what we do as a sport, right?
Is we have all these mobile marketing displays.
We have all these hospitality.
And the thing is, man, when you look at a sponsor, if all they do is put their name on a car, they're going to fail.
They have to go out and leverage their sponsorships.
I mean, the successful sponsors, a lot of times can spend $3 to $4 per $1 a sponsorship to do those things like ads and to do some of those things like Casey and I were talking about.
So when you look at places like Atlanta where we weren't going to let people come, it has a huge impact on how we made.
measure the return to these sponsors.
So it's important for us to get back racing.
Obviously, we need the environment to be safe in which we do so.
But it's also important that when we get to go back racing,
that our fans are able to come watch us.
On Sunday morning during our live stream broadcast of the eye racing race,

Spot on Spot.
Off, Denny Hamlin makes the last corner pass to beat Dale D.
Had to crash.
What the heck was that?
I had a crash.
I reckon.
Sorry.
Next topic.
Spot on, spot off.
Denny Hamlin makes a last corner pass to beat Dale Jr.
in I Racing Pro Invitational Race.
How about T.J.
Spot off, man.
Way to ruin it.
No, it was a good race.
It's exciting.
At the end, I didn't watch, I was busy spotting for the 15th place car of that race.
But I told him with about five to go, I told him you're on your own because I got to watch the front now because I was just watching the race.
And it was good.
It was a good race.
I thought that Denny ran a lot of practice races the night before.
So I knew Denny was going to be fully prepared to run that race.
And, you know, it was a good race, though.
Spot off. He ruined our broadcast. It was going to be big. Team Dirty Moe.
Damn it, Dale.
Damn it, Dale. That needs to be a T-shirt.
That's great use of alliteration. Yeah, damn it, Dale.
Man, what a great feel-good moment that got ruined.
We were all pulling for Dale Jr. here at my house, and we started throwing when he didn't win.
And, man, we were literally screaming at the TV, protect the top, the run's coming on the top.
and Dale just pulled down and gave him the lane
and then I had somebody tell me
well it's because Denny could donate $5,000.
Let me tell you something.
Dale Jr.'s got $5,000 people,
if he wanted to get $5,000.
So don't give me that $5,000 excuse.
Man, we were upset.
Hey, TJ, I seen somebody on Twitter say
that if he gave him the bottom,
Denny would have just drove by him and wanted to do anyway.
They said like Holmes said,
just a one-grove deal now on iraising.
Is that true?
Well, obviously it's not true
because he got passed on the top.
Yeah, I mean, I think they're saying
that he could have been anywhere and done it.
I mean, I would have gave me outside, and I would have fenced him.
That was how it probably would have ended.
Yeah, that's what he should have done in three and four.
I would have went up to the racetrack until we hit,
and I saw Danny go up higher where he wasn't going to recover as quick,
and I'd have race to the start finish line.
He, that's, um, Tell Jr., he's always been a gentleman driver like that,
and, uh, but I mean, I know what I would have done right there for sure.
What would you have done?
I mean.
Well, the same thing.
Team villain.
Yeah.
What would Bubba have done?
Bubba won't even if he did that.
No, they wouldn't have made it down a backstretch.
Yeah, exactly.
That was a good race, though.
It was good to see them guys get up there and do that.
But I definitely would have, I would have used more race track up for sure.
And off a turn four, I would have been the guy.
Denny would have been running out to the wall because I was coming up.
You know what I mean?
So, but it was a good race.
It looked like the fans enjoyed it, and it was something to watch.
Do you think if you were spotting for Dale, he would have won the race?
100%.
Did he have a spotter?
Yeah, he had Stephen doing it.
So that's why he does travel.
All right.
Small names perform well.
Big names struggle on ir racing.
You got some, you got P3 with Timmy Hill, your favorite bread.
Garrett Spudley P5.
Freddie's favorite.
Yeah.
Kurt Bush was P.35 and Jimmy Johnson P.31.
Oh gosh.
Spot on, spot off, Freddie.
I can't believe Kurt Bush didn't win this thing.
I don't know how that happened.
I think he had both of his, I think he had his resets used up by lap three.
Both of them.
I would have loved to hear Kurt's radio during that race.
I heard he threw it.
I heard he threw his push a talk button out the window.
spot on for you know it's awesome for guys that you don't get to normally see on such a big platform
especially like timmy and garrett and uh i don't know some other guys anthony alfredo comes to mind
like there's some guys up front that ran up front all day that that that really don't get to see
much when we race on weekends so that was cool for them and these other guys jimmy and curt
they'll get better i promise if they keep doing this these guys are competitors they'll uh
they'll be putting the man hours in and and uh log and laps and i'm assuming they'll get a little
better hopefully hopefully kurt does for sure i believe did you give you gave kirt an award yesterday didn't
you gave him a sherman dip into the race award what were you guys saying whenever the field caught jimmy
in the middle of the track it would so it happened so fast we didn't know what to say we're like oh what
look out oh god that's kind of when they were happened what i don't he was getting laughed and he was
all up in the way we called him jimmy harmon we're like here look out for jimmy harman
Yeah, that was, uh, when I, whenever like, what happened?
I was like, dude, it looked like the leader's wrecked, but I didn't, and I went up there on the low time.
I'm like, oh, oh, man.
But, uh, hey, you know, spot on for, for Garrett and, uh, you know, insurance agent Timmy there sitting at his desk.
Did somebody, did you see the tweet about Timmy Hill that said, Timmy, they like his setup because it's just a wheel clamp to a desk and he can just remove the wheel and sell insurance later on that day.
Because he definitely looks like an insurance salesman there.
You know, a lot of these guys have, and did you watch Garrett drive?
Did you watch Garrett's in car at all?
I watched a little bit when he was not in the race, but the night before.
Did you see Garrett when he races on his computer?
When he gets to the corner, yeah, he does that.
He leans out of his chair.
Like, what are you doing?
That's the high dollar rig he's got.
Yeah, I guess.
Something like that.
But, you know, I'll tell you what, whenever being big into the sim racing stuff, whenever you have, whenever you decide to get married and have kids, that puts a big wrinkle in your, your eye racing plans, in your eye racing career.
So that's why you see guys like William and Garrett and like, even like Josh Williams, Josh runs about 600 races a year on eye racing.
Um,
hi Casey.
Casey left.
Josh runs about 600 races a year, but he doesn't, you know, the hardest part about
Josh's day is getting up and figuring out what he's going to eat for lunch, you know?
So, but those guys are really, I mean, I'm sure you, you've tried to race.
It's not easy running some of them cars and these guys are really good, you know,
and it's funny.
You can kind of see the younger generation come in there and do really well.
Um, and it takes some other guys.
I'll say what I watched Clint run a few of his first races on there a couple of
a few nights ago and Clint made a pretty big improvement in like two three days practicing
on there Clint was actually really fast so I thought that was pretty cool to see too
Brett made a really big improvement from his first attempt at running Bristol to his last
attempt because he couldn't go down a straightaway the first time he tried to run it and then
about two years later he was in a middle of a minute Clint comes over here and sets this thing up
and he puts it on Kokomo for my first track.
Oh, my God.
Yeah, and then he's fussing.
You're going, you're going to get kicked out.
Well, you're, yeah, thanks.
You, hey, I got good news, Brett.
You were not going to get kicked out.
I was in a few races with Clint.
I was in a few races with Clint that I was pretty sure Clint was going to get kicked out too,
so don't worry about it.
Good.
Yeah, Brett was on somebody else's account, so that guy might be banned for my racing now.
I feel bad for him.
TJ, what's the spotting process?
Like, how do you spot for Joey?
Do you just have a separate camera angles you're looking at and calling stuff?
Well, I didn't really, I didn't really, I didn't spot a lot.
Basically, I was crew chiefing it.
You can log on to another computer.
Like if Brett's racing from that rig behind him,
and he tells you can set a password in our racing to be a spotter or a crew chief,
Brett tells me what his password is.
I log on from here, and Brett goes and drives a race.
Why log on and get on there?
and I clicked the button
that says become Brett's crew chief and spotter
and I put his password in.
All Brett's got to do is drive.
I can spot if I want
or you can have the game,
you know,
the sim spot you as well.
But Brett doesn't have to change his tie.
He doesn't have to do anything.
We're picking what tires he wants to change.
If you can make adjustments on the car,
I'll make the adjustments on the car for him.
He just drives a car and I'll tell him under pit
and all that stuff.
So,
I put Joey in a couple good scenarios yesterday,
but he failed to take advantage of him
when he had some contact with a few cars.
You know,
then I didn't pit him.
time and he's like well I want tires I'm like you quit hitting stuff you'll get tires you know
so let me ask you this they started with a fixed setup they all started with the exact same setup
but from that you can't make adjustments during the race you can't make any adjustments during the race
just tires and fuel that's it wow yeah you can't you can't change the setup on the car once
been a fixed deal the only thing you can change is uh your brake bias and um your steering ratio
which is not really any that's not really a speed advantage just for your for your drive
ability.
Yeah, I gotcha.
So you can't make adjustments on a pit stop, like tire pressure or...
Not in these races.
You can't because they're locked.
Because then people, you know, the people that put more time,
they're going to sit there for hours.
They're going to have these kids that don't...
Garrett's going to sit there from now until next week and make all kinds of little tire pressure.
He's going to know exactly what each one does by the time we get to, you know,
their next race or whatever they're going to do.
Gotcha.
All right, NASCAR is looking to add more Hollywood Casino One Dayton
type of properties to NASCAR own tracks.
Spot on, spot off Brett.
And Brett, why don't you start by telling fans a little bit about what this looks like
for those who haven't been.
There's no way he's spot off for this.
So they're wanting to add more casinos.
They're wanting to add more casinos.
It's like a Hollywood casino, one day tonal.
Basically like one day, you know one day tono.
There's a lot of bars, restaurants trying to make it more of an atmosphere around
the track, right, Jason?
That's that how you'd explain it.
Entertainment properties around the racetracks.
Yep.
You know what I mean?
I look at places like Chicago land and places like Michigan and places like Watkins Glen
where these tracks were literally built in the absolute middle of a bunch of farmland.
Bless you, Leah.
I saw that you sneaked.
Bless you.
But man, when I look at how desolate and isolated those tracks were and now you look at
Chicago land and everything around theirs and don't.
It's not anything that a fan can really enjoy.
But then you look at Kansas and you look at, you know, somewhere like you just said, Daytona with what they're doing there.
Like, man, we see these new sporting venues going out on a limb.
And what they want to be is they want to be a sporting venue with a bunch of retail, with a bunch of restaurants, with a bunch of bars.
I mean, it's obviously cool when we have casinos there too.
So I am 100% spot on because it enhances the fan experience from the time they park their car until they leave the price.
property, there is something for them to do.
Yeah, I mean, obviously spot on.
Kansas comes to mind.
There is another, you know, they got the casino there.
There's a lot of hotels, a lot of bars, a lot of cool stuff right around there.
There's soccer stadiums next door.
So obviously, anything that's going to enhance the fan experience, you can't help but be
spot on for it.
TJ?
I am spot on for it.
I think it's slowly getting that way to where I know a lot of people like to do the
Draft King stuff and do things like that.
it adds to it man give them guys something else to go and do there you know if you want to
if you want to go to the race with your buddies and you want to play some bets and do things like that
i think a casino is a good thing to have in the on the properties but you know in the area there to
go to spot on i i think honestly like if you think about where some of these tracks are located
to it has to help the economy there i mean adding one daytona is detona looks completely different
in that area where the track is compared to what it used to be a few years
ago. So I would say like I hope this happens for more tracks than not. Should be interesting.

Well, if you guys missed the great news last week,
Xfinity is now on board with us
to sponsor our Fast Lane segment.
And to match Xfinity's Fast Internet
will be ramping up the pace of this segment.
So I'll be asking the guys eight questions every week
and they will each have 10 seconds to respond.
Highly doubt this will happen, so we'll see how it goes.
No exceptions, and once those 10 seconds are up,
Jason will keep digging them until they finally stop talking.
You might have to do this a few times, Jason.
First topic.
Yeah, we'll see.
Since Ryan Blaney crew chiefed for Chase Elliott on Sunday,
which current cup driver do you think would make the best crew chief?
T.J.
I got to go with a guy like Brad.
Brad, I think, would be very calculated and smart at it.
I think Brad's done a lot of his own stuff back in the days when he first started running the trucks and stuff.
So I think Brad would be really good.
My turn.
Corey LaJoy actually used to be a crew chief before he started back in racing full time.
So I'd go with him or I'd go with maybe somebody like Ryan Newman.
You can pick two.
They said one.
You just pick mine.
It's Ryan Newman.
That guy's an engineer.
He's invented safety stuff.
He knows what's going on.
Ryan Newman's the guy.
Follow the rules.
Question number two.
Fox aired the 1986
Richmond race Sunday afternoon
in place of the postponed
Homestead race.
Name another classic race
from before 2000.
You'd like to see them air
on a future Sunday.
Brett.
Oh, man.
Any of those,
hell, I don't know when they were run,
but some of those All-Star races
back in the day.
I think the All-Star race
was,
awesome before they started screwing with a format and changing how many cars and changing segments.
Damn, a dinger went off.
DJ.
I would go with, I'd like a Coke 600 or something like that.
Something nice and short.
Something nice and long.
Maybe at Martinsville from back of the day when it so had the grass on the inside.
Something like that.
All of them.
Show them all.
The older the better.
Just keep playing them.
one after another.
I mean, at this point, we'll have enough time for it.
This is supposed to be a fast segment, Casey.
Sorry.
Question number three.
Due to coronavirus, there has been speculation about whether the next-gen
car will be ready for 2021.
Should the car still debut next season or should it be delayed a year?
Freddie.
As long as they're doing everything right, I mean, protecting themselves and putting the time
and effort into the car is done right, I'm all for it.
But if it's not going to be done right, don't roll it out there half-assed.
Brett.
I don't know.
I mean, to me, what we're racing is what we're racing.
So if it's Gen 4, it's Gen 4, if it's Gen 20, it's Gen 20.
I never remember hearing about these gens.
And all of a sudden, all we talk about is a gen.
I kind of agree with Freddie.
I don't know if we're missing a ton of practice right now.
Not sure it was quite ready for all that yet.
But I think there's enough time for a couple months off to keep engineering stuff
and get out there, you know, in the following months on the track.
Question number four.
Bobby Lubani competed in Sunday's iraicing race
and Jeremy Mayfield expressed interest on Twitter.
Besides them, which former driver do you think could compete
and perform well?
T.J.
Man, I'm Dell Jr.
I don't know.
I think Bobby ran over 500 laps in practice.
So it was cool to see a guy like that do it.
But I'd like to see some of the older guys pick it up.
Maybe a Elliott could probably do pretty good at it.
I'd like to see Tony Stewart, man.
Tony'd be awesome to watch around those things.
You know, like, like TJ said,
obviously Dale Jr. did a good job.
We were all pissed off Bobby the Bonny was in the 19 car.
Why wasn't he in the 18 interstate batteries cars?
We were livid.
Yeah, ridiculous.
I don't know.
If you can throw it away back,
I mean, let's stick somebody like Rick Mast in there
and have some fun and just watch him race.
But if you want to see somebody perform well,
probably somebody like Josh Wise.
A lot of these guys use him for help.
It's Josh Wise.
That's what I said.
I said it's Josh Wise.
You're an idiot.
Given I Racing's ability to reset your car after a wreck,
name a race you spotted where your driver was having a great day
but faced trouble and loss that you wish you could have reset.
Brett.
Oh, man, I got to go back probably to one of two races.
Elliot at Texas got hit by Sterly Marlin, cut his left for your, ruined our day.
We had a rocket at the Wood Brothers car back in like 2000.
And then Clint at Atlanta, two, three, four years ago when we were at MWR.
13 second lead, we blew up.
T.J.
Yeah, there's a lot of them.
There's a lot of ones that plate races where you feel like you had a legit chance
and then you get caught up into Big Rec.
I have a feeling Freddie has a lot of these as well.
Nah, I mean, not so much cup race
And we haven't really
I mean, obviously all the plate races we've wrecked out
You want another shot at.
But the biggest one that comes to mind for me
is Texas truck race
At the end of the year, we were, we blew up.
We were getting ready to battle for the point championship.
We blew up with two races left.
Jimmy Johnson has recently expressed interest in testing
and racing an Indy car in the future.
Which current cup driver
do you think would find me most success
running a one-off indie car race?
Freddie.
Uh, I've probably,
Kyle Bush. I think Kyle Busch is most talented driver where you got.
I got another one, but I won't say it because Brad will get mad at me.
I think it's Kyle Larson, hands down.
Oh, that's going to be my other one.
You can't say two, that's why.
I know, that's why I didn't say it.
I think those are two great picks.
I think Kyle, Kyle, and I wouldn't, as many things as Joey goes and drives,
I wouldn't put it against Joey as much as he studies and stuff.
I can't believe he picked Joey. That's so weird.
I think he'd be pretty good at it, too.
Shocker. We picked Brad to Crew Chief and Joey to drive.
Let's pick Roger to only.
Let's go out on three limbs.
Oh, with Tom Brady leaving the Patriots for the Buccaneers,
what would be the NASCAR equivalent of a big start leaving for a smaller team?
T.J.
Oh, man.
That's a good question.
I don't know.
I really don't know.
There we go.
I really don't know.
It'd have to be Jimmy Johnson, obviously.
I think, you've got a seven-time champion.
What's Brady won six titles?
So seven-time champion leaves end his career somewhere else to be big.
I thought TJ would maybe tell us where Kyle Larson was going right there in that segment.
But I guess he didn't want to tell us.
Man, I got to say it would be Kevin Harvick leaving Richard Childers Racing, which he did.
Kevin at that time didn't have a lot of wins, but that was a pretty big shocker.
Went to Stuart Haas, won a bunch of races.
But, I mean, realistically, you're talking about a Kyle Busch or,
or a multiple-time champion leaving.
So, hard to see that happen.
What about Mark Martin?
Martin would have been that.
I mean, when you look at Bobby Labony, he actually had to do that.
Like, he was kind of pushed out at Gibbs as a champion,
and he had to go to a smaller team when he went to that.
I don't even remember the name of the team.
Tony Rainstrove for him at one time.
They had that DLP sponsorship.
Yeah, it was.
Hall of Fame racing.
Yeah, Hall of Fame racing with Troy Ackman, Terry Bradshaw,
and not Terry Bradshaw, Roger Stalbach,
and whoever the other guy was.
Yeah.
Off the wall question.
After hearing of Kenny Rogers passing over the weekend,
what's your favorite Kenny Rogers song, Brett?
You can't beat the gambler.
But man, he had so many songs.
I mean, 24 number one hits.
The guy was generational.
He's in movies.
And man, I tell you what, it's 81.
You used to sound old when I was young.
Now that I'm 44.
81 doesn't sound not old.
Rest in peace, buddy.
I don't know if there's one song you can pick,
but I do know that you need to go watch the movie six-pack.
If you're a racing fan and you haven't watched that movie, you need to go watch it.
My favorite Kenny Rogers song is the greatest.
Go listen to it. It's about baseball.
A kid playing baseball.
I play baseball by the whole life.
If you're a race fan, go listen to Love will turn you around from six-pack.
What were you, the catcher?
Back catcher.
Love will turn you around.
Turn you around.
Sound great.
Beautiful voice.
Thanks.
Man, we got some great news here, Doorbubber Clear fans.
There's a new line of Dirty Moe merchandise available now for you.

four or five.
Yeah.
Josh?
Did Josh Snyder get it?
Yeah, the Josh is the worst one.
Mitch Lash.
Josh is the worst one because they did it once and they thought they didn't do it.
So they heated it back up and they did it.
Oh, they branded him twice.
Right over the old one.
And you could smell it and it was the worst thing ever, so I didn't do it.
Oh, I don't blame you.
Not doing it.
Ask DBC.
Send in your questions 24-7 on Twitter using the hashtag AskDBC.
All right.
Asked, DBC, this first one is from Ray 7730302.1. If today's drivers were to race cars like they were back in the 80s,
which drivers do you think could actually handle them and race competitively? How about you, Brett?
I got Jimmy Johnson off the bat, man, as we've made more and more changes and cram these cars more and more
into the earth with higher, higher down force, lower, lower horsepower, tons of rule changes underneath the cars.
we've kind of seen him be phased out as far as how competitive he could be.
But those cars really moved a lot back on those bi-spline tires.
And, you know, Jimmy's off-road experience, high-horsepower scenario that he came out of,
I think he'd still be the guy.
I think it's hard to beat a dirt guy in this scenario with all that horsepower in some of them cars
and the way those cars walk around and stuff when, you know,
you'd basically turn them with the throttle.
So I think any guys that come from the dirt side would have a huge,
would have a bigger advantage in this scenario with them older cars.
way those older cars slid around and stuff.
I think those guys would have an advantage.
I can't believe you didn't say Ryan Blaney.
That was the only guy left to Penske.
You hadn't gave a shout-out to you today.
Well, Ryan hasn't run dirt.
He's probably run at least a little bit of dirt.
Maybe.
One race, maybe.
His dad was a dirt store.
Yeah, I don't think he ran much.
I think he maybe ran one sprint car race.
But I think Larson would be the guy you got to look at here, just like T.J. said,
the dirt experience, he kind of, he could jump on anything and drive it and excel at it.
So I think he'd be the guy you have to.
go with here. Chad's boyfriend, Christopher,
probably pretty good. Yeah.
He's probably, is he behind him? Is he there?
No, they're probably at the
shop together, don't worry.
I did. I stopped by the shop a couple weeks
ago. I congratulate Chad on their pregnancy
and it was him and Christopher sitting there
talking with each other. Of course
that's what happened. Speaking of the pregnancy,
should we take bets on the gender?
Yes.
What are we doing? Are we doing that via Skype?
What are we doing there? Oh, wait, hold on.
Susan. Here.
Second topic is from Jared Lee 264.
How does this shutdown affect sponsorship going forward, meaning is that money paid per race or at the beginning of the season to the teams?
I'm sure some sponsors want to be on the car at specific tracks at certain times and how will that be handled.
How about TJ?
I think this is a good question for Brett.
He knows more about these sponsorship things than anybody, so I think Brett should answer this one.
Oh man, there's, you know, sponsorships across the board are all different.
Some are paid monthly.
Some are paid quarterly.
Some are even paid in full at the beginning of the year.
I think what you've got to look at is when those sponsorships are done, they're purchasing inventory.
And it's important for us.
This is why it's so important for us as a sport to run all the races is because these teams have sold that inventory, right?
So that's where we've got to be able to get over this virus situation, get back to the racetrack
and fulfill all of our contractual.
obligations to these sponsors. I think the good news is everybody's being really patient right now.
I think the biggest concern is, you know, what happens when this thing rebounds? When this virus
turns off, what truly happens to the economy and how do these companies come back and view
NASCAR? And hopefully it's all done in a very positive light.
Brad, let me ask you this. Like, I don't think it's ever happened, I assume, but like, what
if we can't make up some of these races and they're bought and paid for some of these full-time sponsors
like FedEx maybe? Like, is there a refund? Do you think it's just scratched out? Hey, sorry,
we didn't get to race?
Well, there's, Freddie, in these contracts, there are things that cover you in the event of a natural disaster.
But I'm not sure this is considered a natural disaster.
But with, you know, the president declaring a state of emergency, man, this could obviously turn into a big legal battle with sponsors and teams wanted it too.
Around NASCAR, that's not really how it works, because as you guys know, we're all in the relationship business.
I can see us offering these sponsors in the event that these races get canceled.
We would go to next year's inventory and look at ways.
to fill them there, or we would have to look ultimately at a refund situation where you give them
their money back. But hopefully we don't get to that point, man, because that would put us in a real
bad economic situation. I mean, you also have to think about not only teams, but the tracks.
These tracks have individual sponsors that are local. So they can't go to another race, essentially,
like Bristol has local tracks or local companies that sponsor those, that race specifically
that. So I would say it's not just teams. I feel like every sponsor is definitely
reconsidering what this is going to look like.
And it's really a waiting game at this point because we don't know what if NASCAR will
have these races or what it will look like and when it will be too, which will play in a role.
I think the bigger question that really is an answer as far as our sport goes,
and all you guys will appreciate that because we're all sports fans,
the players have unions in other major sports and the owners have bargaining agreements in place,
right?
And the owners also own the stadiums in which those players play in.
And those guys are not economically impacted in the way that we are because without sponsors, teams don't exist, without teams existing, tracks don't exist.
Without teams and tracks, NASCAR doesn't exist.
So this is one of the times where as a sport, listen, there's a lot of times that free enterprise works in our model.
But this is a time as a sport that I sit here and go, man, if we had other things in place to protect people, right?
Well, where would it put us?
Because I don't know the answer to that because we're not there.
None of us have that.
No one's ever been through much like this, anything like this before.
So we're all kind of learning as we go.
You know, hopefully the good news is they plan to run all the races,
which is what the sponsors and everything pay for.
Well, that's the main part.
So as long as those are on the schedule still, everyone's still going to get their value.
Everyone's going to lose that a little bit in this deal.
So, but hopefully we can just get all the races in and get back to some normal,
you know, some normalcy after we get them in.
next one is from Addison's dad 76
if you guys can make a cameo
or star in any music video
current or old what would it be
freddie
hell I'm picking old red
I know that's what I was going to say
I know some jackasses that were in that one
it was probably a hell of a party
it was bad
it was a hell of a party
Brett would either be thriller or old red
I mean old red's already on the board
so he was in old red
I know.
That's been there, done that.
Man, I would have to say put me in either a Michael Jackson video.
There's no doubt Thriller was the best short movie ever made.
It wasn't even a music video.
It was a short movie.
Billy Jean is when he had his best dance move, so I would say put me in Billy Jean
or put me in something like Tone Loke, baby, got back.
Oh, that ain't Tone Loke.
Who was that? Who's saying that?
That was, that was, damn.
Who was that?
Don't look saying, dude, a wild thing.
Sir Mixelot.
Yeah.
Put me in that guy's video.
I was going to say, you know, I can see Brett with a pair of MC Hammer pants on, too,
dancing around.
You should have seen him doing the running man yesterday.
I'm sure it was entertaining.
I would say, man, I mean, the Sir Mixelot videos were good.
But maybe, I don't know, like some of the Beastie Boy videos were pretty good, too.
Yeah.
They had some pretty good videos.
Casey, what about you?
Oh, I wasn't expecting to be asked this question.
I want to be the girl in, like, the country music video, like a Luke Bryan music video where they, like, he falls in love with that girl.
Like, I just, I want to be that person.
Okay.
Okay.
It's not real.
It's not real.
I think that, like, I think, I know it's not real.
He's married.
I want to see you in a warrant music video.
Cherry Pie or a Motley crew, Girls, Girls, Girls.
like I want to see you and Leah in some hair band, poison, like, just...
What was the one with the girl dancing on the hood of the car?
Yeah. Is that...
Yeah.
Like, give me white lion.
Like, give me some of those old rock bands.
I could see you and Leah rocking that out with T-step-up hair.
She's too busy watching the notebook.
She won't have time for that.
Oh, I won't even watch the notebook.
I just think they put them in the best outfits.
That's all I really care about.
What?
All right.
Brett, who's getting a shirt?
Everybody.
Everybody gets a shirt.
Off a pad is in the house.
And then go ahead and retweet the Dirty Mo show tweet we'll put out about DBC tonight once the show is posted, and I'll pick a random retweeter for her shirt as well.
Awesome.
The good news is after last week's XDBC, I'm still here.
Megan has not murdered me.
That's why we did the broadcast yesterday to show everybody else still alive.
What was her reaction?
It was funny right away, and then as it progressively got worded,
when Jason posted a video of her face all over Twitter.
She was a little bit more upset, but she got over it pretty quickly.
I mean, she's, she's been married.
We've been dating for almost 11 years.
You think the officer could identify her still?
Married for three.
So she's kind of used to putting up with some crazy stuff that we do.
So, I mean, it comes with the territory being hanging around us.
You know, I really thought you would get her, I really thought you would go out to your car at
some point, take a picture of her inside the car, so we can post it on Twitter at some point.
just in the back.
Yes.
With a flashlight.
Excuse me.
I don't know what was happening yesterday.
I didn't realize she had been drinking and my brother was driving.
He was bartended so he didn't drink anything.
And we got out there and I didn't realize Megan had been drinking.
And she first thing she did got the back of the car and we got out to the car last.
And I was like, oh, wait.
Never mind.
I got John living.
I'll get in the front.
All right.
We should make some bets on Casey's gender reveal.
Wow.
It's 50-50 change.
right?
Yeah.
There's no bets to be made.
It's a girl.
It's a boy.
I don't know.
When is this gender reveal happening?
We're supposed to find out
on Thursday.
I have a test then, but I'm not
gonna, like, I'm...
It's not a test.
They're not going to ask you questions and you answer them.
It's an exam.
No matter...
Okay, when you go to a doctor,
a test and exam is the exact same thing.
Yeah.
When you go to the doctor,
you're going to get an old.
They're going to put the thing on your belly and it's either going to have a do-hicky or a do-fony.
Do-Fut- Funny. It's going to have a do-fony or a monkey.
That's still a test. What's the plan, Case?
What?
Casey, what's the plan? Like, you're going to fire off cannons, do a burnout?
Well, the plan is to do, like, confetti bombs with my family, but I don't know what to do now because of the stupid virus.
So Tyler Green, he had his daughter at the end of the last year, and they were having this general
viewer, and they were super pumped about it. And he had this whole,
a list like explicit like I don't know like detail deal he was going to roll dice and shoot off certain
cannons and the first one he shot off had the it was going to be white cannons and then there was
going to be like one out of 30 that had the the color the first one he the first one he shot off was
pink and it's like oh son of a all this build up I have an idea how about if anybody who is listening
to the show has any gender reveal ideas send them our way because I'm curious to see if
anybody has anything better. So send them over.
How about she does go and find out what it is?
No. I want to find it. Who's going to be the one that knows?
I don't know yet. I haven't, I'll get an envelope and I'll just pass it off to the person.
We'll see. You trust them? Yes. It could be Brett. You trust them a lot.
You can let me and Brent do it. Can you imagine if I, if we like, I give it to you and Brett,
and then I give you the colors like, this one is pink, this one is blue. Pick the color.
of the gender and you give me the
drunk and forget which one. Yeah, you give me the wrong
one and you pop it and all the time you're like
just kidding guys, sorry, wrong color
and then we obviously know which it is.
What if it was green? Like what if you gave it to us and all of a sudden
we shot off a green cannon? Like you wouldn't know what the hell to do.
You totally would do that too. So that is why you guys are not
going to be in charge. I think we should do it on dirty my media's
Twitter like we did yesterday.
Yeah. I think that would be really fun.
I would consider it. Totally safe.
I think we take.
tell Chad, literally we bring him into a room, we tell him what it is, we dye his hair that
color, and then we send him out to you.
I thought about going out to, like, Milbridge and having him run his midget because he's been
wanting to race so bad and, like, let him test and then do something where, like, the, as he's
driving, like the, like a bomb or whatever, like the colors kind of show.
Wow, my idea was a hell of a lot more fun than yours.
I mean, I didn't know it on Dirty Mo.
I just don't know what we're doing it.
Anybody has any ideas.
Oh, God.
Oh, gosh.
She has it.
Corona.
No, I've allergies.
I have allergies.
That's what everybody.
I never heard somebody allergies now.
Every time somebody sneezes, I got allergies.
I haven't gone anywhere.
I can't go anywhere.
You guys are the worst.
Oh, boy.
But yes, if anybody has any ideas, send them our way.
Anything we're going to rant about?
Nothing too ran about.
Stay safe out there.
That's all we can tell you.
I have a small rant.
Brett.
Jason's got a rant.
Brett presented me with a gift on the live stream yesterday.
I do not appreciate the gift, and I will not accept it.
How do you not appreciate a gift?
It's a gift. You always appreciate a gift.
I'm a bad gift.
I still got it.
I still got the gift.
You can keep it.
It's on the floor.
It's not live here, I don't think.
My house is trash.
Probably covered in fireball and beer right now.
If you would unwind that cord, you could probably walk over to it.
Look what I got Jason yesterday.
Oh, those are cute.
That's great.
That's the best.
It's going to go good with your pajamas.
Wow.
Look at that.
You can keep it, Brad.
Susan wants it.
Got you.
Got chasing a M&M's tie.
Casey, shut that damn dog up.
We're trying to do a podcast.
Freddie, we have a, we have another, so we're doing a league on every other Tuesday night on our racing now.
I don't know if Bubba told you about it.
The replacement is carrying on.
So we're going to do a.
Well, we're on this break.
We're going to take that same group we had at Atlanta last week,
and we're going to run every other Tuesday.
So we got a lot of, mostly all the same people pretty much,
and it's going to be streamed on irasing stuff as well.
But Bubba's been struggling, man.
He might be able to use a little bit of help.
Maybe you can.
I'm not helping him.
Maybe you can take that deal in the background of Brett's
and put it in your house and spot for him.
We were giving him.
We had we FaceTimed him after he dumped,
who the hell he spent out close
Chase yeah he spent chase
got somebody else we were giving him hell
FaceTime and every time he did something wrong so
he had he had uh drew helping him yesterday so they're all yeah they
apparently the driver's chat was pretty entertaining
really so yeah that was probably uh that would be very
entertaining if we could somehow get a hold of that
yeah that's what we need to get it should be pretty good so
maybe if you guys aren't busy i'm sure you get a lot lined up for it on your tuesday night
So it'd be about 9 o'clock.
Very good.
I'm sure you'll be totally sober by then or out of liquor.
No, we ain't going to run out of liquor.
That won't ever happen.
Oh, well.
All right, well, I guess we don't.
Thanks everyone for listening.
Hopefully the audio recorded and this is all.
You're listening, actually, to it.
This all wasn't for nothing.
