This is a production of Dirtymoe Media.
Ladies and gentlemen, race fans of all ages, you're listening to Door Bumper Clear.
Hey everybody, I'm T.J. Majors, spotter for Dale Jr. in the Cup series and Justin Allgaier in the Xfinity series.
And alongside of me is Brett Griffin from Pageland, South Carolina. Spotter for Elliot Sadler on Saturday, Clint Boyer on Sunday.
So welcome to the inaugural podcast of Door Bumper.
clear. We are coming
live from Dirty Motor Radio in Mordesville,
North Carolina. Yeah, hopefully
enjoy listening to us and
maybe we can stir up some trouble
this week and we can talk about it next week.
We have
A yes, big time.
Yeah, we went way above and beyond.
We've outpunted our coverage.
It's big. Again.
Our new co-host is
Hey, guys, I'm Casey Heames.
I work in marketing for
within the NASCAR Exfinity series
so I get to hang out with these guys
each weekend at the track. I don't know if that's a good
or bad thing. You are our first pick
to do what you're doing, so don't
screw this up. I feel so honored. If I suck, just let me know, and
well, you guys are out of love. We only have one rule. You can't
suck. Right, T.J.
Yeah, I mean, you have to be awesome.
You are alive on the 100th-hundredth
What? What was that?
The 100th of show.
You sound like you're a hundred.
I have, right.
That.
T.J. is not here again.
He gave us all of 15 minutes notice that he wasn't going to make it this morning.
He has to take his mom to the airport.
Because did he not know this before 15 minutes ago?
Well, in replacement of T.J.
You've got, you know, our good friend, Freddie.
Freddie is in the house.
Major upgrade.
Freddie, you aren't supposed to be an analyst today.
You were supposed to be a guest.
I know.
I didn't study enough for this, I don't think.
Well, even better, the answer should be great.
You're listening to Door, bumper clear.
You're looking live at Sunny Millbridge Speedway, home of the Casey Boat podcast.
Hosted by PJ Majors, Freddie Craft, and Brett Griffin.
Welcome back to the BBC 100.
PJ Majors has been in contentioned all day long.
Brett Griffin runs in second and Drew Curlin and third.
Not been the day Freddie Craft for Casey Boat wanted.
Freddy's been in the concession stand since last three in case he's made a mess of the
gronger it boogity, boogany, boogany, let's get wasted, boys.
This is Kevin from Virginia, introducing door, bumper, clear.
I'm about to tear up right now.
I'm just wondering how bad that my first statement aged very, very poorly.
See if we can stirrup in trouble.
That age very badly.
Well, I think it aged very well.
I think we did our part so far.
What an award-winning intro for a podcast that is 300 episodes old today.
congratulations to everybody in this room yeah we made it wow yeah 300 i don't know if we made it
but we made it might be the last one yeah it's been a it's it's been a interesting ride
uh the twist and turns to get where we're at now but hey everybody i'm tj majors uh hey you know the
funny part about that intro is you didn't always say your car numbers and i forgot that you
actually said your driver's names yeah i mean when did that switch because i don't remember i don't either
I think you started complaining about it.
Probably right around the time Dale Jr. retired.
You were like, you know what?
I ain't as proud of this guy.
I'm not as proud of Joy LaGa.
There is.
Nothing like going from cheer to boo just by switching car numbers.
Welcome back, T.J.
It's good to see your face.
And I will say this.
You look good.
You skinny little shit.
Yeah, it's been a long.
Last couple weeks have been pretty long.
So had to some issues.
health-wise to clear up and hopefully on the men now for good. So,
um, glad to be back lighter, belt's looser. You got to fix that. So I asked
if it was contagious. You said, unfortunately, it's not. It's not, it's hereditary. It is hereditary,
but it's not going to be able to catch that. I mean, it just doesn't, lose a little bit of weight.
Just don't eat. It's fine. It's easier said than done. It is. Are you still Brett
Griffin? I'm still Brett Griffin. Uh, I didn't. You want to say your driver's name?
Well, I didn't know if y'all were done. Um, I didn't. Um, I didn't.
didn't spot for anybody this weekend. I did watch a lot of racing, man. What a great part of the year
if you're a race fan. I mean, listen, I'm a huge sports fan. I love college football. I love college
basketball. He enjoyed watching some golf yesterday. That guy won by six strokes. Harmon, I think,
was his last name. The guy hadn't once since 2017. So, um, but race fans, like,
Freddie, if you love racing, there's no better time to be a race fan of right now.
No, I mean, obviously Freddie Crafts spotted for Bubba Wallace, Chandler Smith. Um, yeah, I mean,
I turned on when I was getting ready to go to the track in the morning, I turned on,
on and the F1 race is on.
You're watching that in the background.
Obviously, that's another, you know,
for stab in there, he just barely squeaked another one out
by about a minute and a half, I think.
I think I should move to that country.
The name of the country is hungry.
Hungry.
That's pretty much rivalry of the last month.
Let's go live to hungry.
But here's what I did.
I'm so stupid that the day before, I guess it was.
What?
Listen.
Couldn't hear you.
I'm watching.
I'm flipping.
due to channels and something was on the maybe qualifying or truck race was starting.
My truck, unfortunately, didn't make the show, so I wasn't in a rush to get to the racetrack
for practice.
And I'm flipping due to the channels waiting for the truck race to start, and there's an IndyCar
race on.
And I'm like, oh, cool, I'll watch this.
Oh, yeah.
And they're in Toronto.
And I'm watching the race, and McLaughwin's leading.
So I'm kind of into it.
And then they make some, and so I'm like, oh, I got to go to the track now.
I can't see how this finishes.
So I don't realize that they're in Iowa, and this must have been last week's race that I was
watching and I had no idea the whole time. So I learned this last weekend the indie cars qualified
on Saturday morning or Saturday morning and they ran two laps. The first lap was where you started
the first race on Saturday and the second lap was where you started on Sunday. But it didn't matter
because when you go to Iowa, Joseph New Garden is untouchable there. He wore him out. Oh, it's not. He drove
from maybe six or eighth on Saturday to the lead and just drove. It was a good race. I mean,
it those guys have their hands full there it was actually pretty entertaining to watch i watched a lot
of racing in the last couple weeks so um formula one i watched that race and that was exciting for about
three corners i heard you watched um qualifying very closely maybe it was exfinity qualifying i think joe i
thought joey on the way down from xfinity qualifying he's like oh i was listening to everything
he's like did everybody else have somebody telling him where everybody ran he's like he's like i had
a lot of help from back home he said tj was sending me text about because it's hard like polka
was one of the hardest places we spot.
So like to see in detail on the TV where they're running.
Like it's beneficial to have somebody sitting there.
So he said, yeah, TJ was texting me updates about what line got.
Because some guys were some guys using a little bit of the grip and moving around a little bit.
So I thought that was funny.
When I saw Sheldon run up in turn one and just the speed he carried off the corner and
obviously it's really easy to overdrive one.
But Josh nailed his qualifying lap and like he went into one maybe just under a tenth down.
And when they come off a turn two, he was like he was a 10th.
and a half up by the time they got to turn too just because he nailed the corner but hey anything you
can do to help you know and um i did watch a lot of qualifying a lot or listen listen to a lot and
the crazy part about it is when you don't go to the track you realize the access that you can get
because you can flip around to anybody on your iPad or phone or whatever and listen to what they're doing
or what they're going to do and um not that you can't do that at the track but like just uh the the access that
you have to it. And then like Pocono, like you said, you can't see as a spotter. You can
really tell exactly where the guy runs. And when they show it on TV, you can see where that
left run is compared to the, where the resume was or whatever was sprayed there. You can see all
that stuff. And so I'm texting Joey and, you know, notes the whole time like, hey, this is where
this guy ran. And then anything you can do to help a little bit. But there's definitely a lot of
good access. And that's why, and that's why you see teams, I would say all or most of these teams now
have a war room back at their shop of engineers or whatever that are just sitting in the shop,
in a room and an office in the shop with all the SMT data in front of them, obviously.
And then the race on broadcast, like obviously SMT is very helpful for, you know, data
traces and steering and braking and throttle trace.
But to see exactly where they're running, TV is the best way, especially at Pocono.
TV is the best way to, you know, get that information.
I wanted to break.
So obviously the SMT and that stuff is in front of the TV a little.
bit. So I'm sitting there and I watched the restart of the Xfinney race and I'm just like, oh, he's
clear the bottom lane. We're good. We're good. Then we get to turn one and I see the little car go up.
I'm like, oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. And then obviously about six, seven seconds
later it comes on the TV and I'm like, er, you know, so. But yeah, you can kind of tell
what's going on before it happens on. I mean, it's a few, obviously TV's tape. It's delayed what, I mean,
a few, five, what is it, five, seven seconds, something like that. But, um, um,
Yeah.
Not enough to beep out the word shh-h-de.
Who said sh-h-k?
Kyle.
Kyle Larson, it was funny.
Yeah.
By the way, Casey.
Speaking of sh-de-
I'm just kidding, Casey.
I don't think that was inverted.
I would like to point out the way your intro to me has really fell off from the first episode.
You went from our number one pick to our substitute.
Walk, walk on.
You're still number one in our hearts, Casey.
we love you.
Thanks guys.
I remember the day Brett texts me and asked if I knew Casey because he knew I spotted for
Chad at the time and that was, I don't know how long ago that was.
Four years ago.
Were you spot him for Chad when he decided to rearrange the grass in the frontstress of Charlotte
twice in the same weekend?
Yes, I was standing on the flag stand when that happened.
Oh, that was a great view.
Is that a proud girlfriend moment?
See how the dirt went?
I was told by Chad's best friend that I was a distraction and I was ruining his racing career
that weekend.
Are they still friends?
Yes.
Wow.
Don't put this in.
Are you talking about Ball?
Yes.
You can put it in.
I don't care.
Oh, leave it in there.
I'll call them out.
Damn it, Paul.
I really feel like we should get Chad on here one day because I'm going to just say that.
I'm just going to say that.
Every show that goes by.
I don't know if I could argue with Ball because, you know, Chad doesn't race anymore.
Not by my.
Okay.
Her mouth was wide open when you said that.
Whatever, guys.
That's why I like her being back there.
I can't see her.
You could blame our.
his income and the five that he flipped 15 times out of the park at one of the racetracks to his racing
career. He was distracted. I wasn't there for the ride. I'm on team ball. I'm always on team ball. It's
undefeated. That was probably those we need to talk when you get home. Never lost the game. Oh God.
Undefeated. It's like a permuter triangle. Yes. This is undfeated. This is not a great start to
episode 300 for me. Oh, okay. It is a great start. Casey, we love you. You do a great job. You do a great job.
when you show up on time and uh says the guy who barely shows up at all oh i know i don't have
anything else going on i had a least legit reasons right and i show up on time pretty much every
time you have nothing going on pretty much every time uh yes i was actually early today you are
i will say this is the first now you're going to be late for the like the next five because you came
early once like you got if you would show up bret you would see that i've been on time so
wow that's good enough she's like low on sleep or something right i am low on sleep guys all right well
how was Pocono?
I love to tell you.
I don't know.
He's the only one that knows.
Freddie, how was Pocono from an at-track standpoint?
What town do you stay in?
I stayed in Wilkes-bear.
Oh, that's a hour.
Good, like, hour drive.
I've seen any bears?
I'm driving yesterday, leaving the racetrack,
and Nick Payne is riding with me,
and I'm just hauling ass down some back road.
Thank God he was spotting,
because I'm hauling ass down some back road,
and there's a car over here on my left, so I'm looking at the car.
And Nick, it's broad daylight out.
It's like, I don't know, 6.30, 7 o'clock maybe.
And Nick's like, hey, watch that deer.
Watch that deer.
And I'm like, yeah, okay.
And I look, and there is a deer just standing in the road.
Like, just, all right, just going to hang out.
And he's like not in the road.
He's like just off on the shoulder a little bit.
And I'm running like 70 mile an hour.
So I'm like, oh, shit.
Like, I'm f***ed if this thing just decides like,
I'm going to take four steps to the left.
It's game over for me and Nick.
So no bears. I did see a deer. I did see some bear carvings.
The guy, the guy is not there anymore. You know the guy?
The woodworking guy? Yeah, he's not there anymore. The one that's ended at a sleepy hollow or whatever it is. Yeah. Yeah, he's not there's no, like all that's all gone. I mean, I'm assuming he's somewhere else. But he, yeah, that wood carving there is. But I mean, phenomenal. I use that word a lot on here, but phenomenal crowd. I can tell, and we always talk about this. Brett always talks about it on here. Like you can kind of tell what the attendance is.
going to be for the weekend by the amount of campers that are at the racetrack.
And the infield was packed full of campers.
The outside was obviously, there was a lot of campers.
But I have never seen, I haven't, it's been years.
I've been doing cup racing for 10 years.
I can't remember a time of that 10 years when I seen the infield as packed as it was
the other day.
And then we follow that up with the grandstands on Sunday were jam packed.
There was a bunch of people in that new area they made where they knocked the building down,
which I didn't like.
But there was a bunch of great viewing spots for there, where the Victor Lane is.
people can get right up next to it.
So, I mean, it was phenomenal as far as just the atmosphere, the crowd, traffic.
That sounds cool for Victory Lane that the fans that have access to that area.
Yeah, I mean, they're right.
They can all walk right up to it.
I mean, you're literally from here to that wall away from Victory Lane and, you know, drive the car, the car's going to drive by you, come parking in there.
Yeah, that's cool.
You know, and obviously, we soon complaints about traffic.
Traffic wasn't, it wasn't great.
It wasn't horrendous.
It's never been great.
They don't have a choice.
The way we went in yesterday, it's like a 40, 45 minute drive for my hotel.
I left at 10 o'clock in the morning.
It took me probably an hour and 15 minutes.
That's not bad.
It's not terrible.
I took 1.15 in, which is the main road right in front of the racetrack.
Every lane up into the tunnel road was going in the same direction.
So there was no, you know, there was no way out.
So there was no, there wasn't even holding up lanes.
And it gets clogged up around the racetrack.
But, I mean, it is what it is.
And you've got a big crowd like that.
I mean, I don't know how many people were there.
I don't know what the grandstands hold, maybe 40,000, you know, something like that.
You know, so that's just that.
Then you got all the people in the infield.
So, you know, listen, you're going to a major event.
I've seen people that said, I was stuck in traffic for the beginning of the race.
Well, if you're leaving that close to the race, that's your fault.
Like, there's no way it took hours to get in there.
You know, maybe when it got closer to the race and, you know, it's piling in a little bit.
But, you know, you need to do a better job of planning if you're going to an event like that.
All right.
Listen, I've been going to Kokea since 99, and when it had two races back then, like,
it was kind of cool, but it was a month apart.
So the second race didn't have the buzz that the first race had because, again, you were
just there three weeks prior, right?
So to see that place go to one race and really blow it out was quite the spectacular thing
to follow all weekend on social media.
I mean, they had an amazing concert Saturday night.
It looked like freaking 5,000 people were at that thing.
And to know what that family puts in the moment.
of that racetrack. Listen, there's only really two racetracks left that isn't owned by NASCAR or SMI that we race at.
And obviously, Pocono is one of them. So to be quote an independent. And at some point,
they're probably going to get bought up and consolidated into the other portfolio. But for NASCAR to keep
going there and for those guys to pull off what they did this weekend, congrats to them. It's the prettiest
tunnel without a doubt that we see in our sport. I love driving into that tunnel. Second
the Daytona 500 driving through that tunnel for that race.
I just, I don't know, man.
They've done a lot of upgrades.
It was a dump 10 years ago.
I mean, if I'm being honest with you, it was a dump.
Now it's not.
I would love to see them go in and redo their suites because their corporate
hospitality stuff certainly needs updated.
But they're step by step, man.
They're making it better.
So good for them.
And it showed this week.
And to your point, like, you know, you see that crowd.
And it's, that lends itself to the one race per track like we've talked about.
Like, it seems like everywhere we go,
that has lost a second date or only has one date,
that the crowd is substantially better than it had been in the past.
And they knocked 100 miles off of it.
And I'm for that, too.
I know people are fussing at us a couple weeks ago,
and we said,
we can shorten some of these races and make them better.
Well, guess what happened yesterday?
We had a freaking phenomenal 400-mile race.
Yeah, you're not, you're, and you cut 40 laps off of it.
So that race, like, what you got to look at that race,
though, is not, they're not going to be side by side the whole time.
But that place is unique because it's big enough where,
the pit strategy thing comes into play.
And fuel mileage there always comes into a factor.
And we've had many surprise winners and many race wins by guys that you didn't see up in the front until late in the race
because they came down and topped off or made it a little bit further on fuel and did some stuff the first two-thirds of the race to set themselves up for the end.
And there were some guys that actually got some good finishes yesterday that did that.
And Tyler Redick had a shot of winning and he was kind of on that short.
strategy.
For sure, had a shot at winning.
Harrison Burton, top 10.
Eric Jones did that.
Dougieland 15th.
Yeah, even Ricky.
Those guys were like in the 20s, like around 20th,
worse than that most of the day.
And then bam, here they are.
And I think, and this is a place where we talked about it on here before with different
types of race tracks.
This is a place that would probably help itself by getting rid of stage cautions.
Because you have, you plan your race around planned cautions now to where, you know,
the strategy is one or the other.
You know what I mean?
Like so there's no, you know, there are some guys yesterday you saw you can play it like a
Pocono, we say you can play it like a road course because it's hard to lose a lap on pit road if you're within.
I think it was about 12 seconds of the leader.
So, you know, and then if especially if it's a green flag cycle, you can short pit it and try to stretch it and try to catch it and try to catch a caution, hopefully stand a lead lap and cycle back to the race lead or whatnot.
But, you know, I just think this is another place where it opens up that box of strategies if you take out.
the two planned cautions.
I mean, obviously...
I don't know.
I feel like the stage breaks there
make that strategy because you have to pit
and you can either run long.
But what's the difference between that and road courses?
We've begged on here forever to get them rid of them on road courses,
now why we want to leave them here?
Here's the answer.
Here's the answer for us true racers that love racing.
If it's a mile and a half and under,
we'll accept your stage break.
If it's over a mile and a half,
don't stop the race.
Keep the race going.
Pay the points.
Keep it green.
That's me.
I think there's just more opportunity for, like,
road courses,
there's more opportunity.
They get so spread out there.
But there's more opportunity.
There's more corners.
There's more wrecks.
That's the way I look at it.
I also think looking at it too,
you see drivers such as William Byron
and Martin Shirex Jr.
who are going for the season championship.
I mean, you see them going for a different strategy now
than they would have if they're trying to go for a win
and what they're, I guess, how that strategy has changed.
But they didn't.
That's my point.
Like Martin stayed, Martin stayed.
Like the guys that are chasing points, like there's not, there wasn't a lot of difference yesterday.
The Martin, you know, if Martin's truly just tracing race wins, then he, you know, he would pit and, but now he's got to chase points at the same time.
I don't know.
It's just like we've, we begged for years to get rid of this on road courses and they did and I think it made it better.
It's the same thing.
And you're going to have different strategies.
Laura, yesterday the 48 car was willing to pit basically as soon as his window opened and it helped him a lot.
We tried the same thing.
our car wasn't fast enough to maintain it.
You know, other guys, Redick ran as long as he could and then was in great position.
You know, you're going to see them same differing strategies in that last stage because there's
no point.
You know, like if you, that last stage is a full, you know, you've got a pit cycle in there.
So, you know, you're already seeing different strategies in that window when there's no
points on a line.
You know, just play it out.
Like, let it play out naturally.
Let teams make decisions based on their race.
Not that, all right, I know I've got a caution here at lap 30.
I know I've got a caution coming at lap 95.
I don't know.
I like the stage race,
so I think it puts the pressures on the teams to...
So then you want to go back to them at roadcourses?
I mean, if they're not going to wreck, yeah.
Hey, Door Bumper Clear fans, it's Mike Davis here,

RacingUSA.com's customer loyalty is off the charts, Freddie.
They told us more than 80% of their business is return customers,
like Kyle Larson to get a win diecast this week.
You think Kyle Larson's buying any of them Denny Hamlin race win polkino diecast
that are available on their site right now?
Probably.
One thing he'll see when he buys that race win diecast is the right side of Denny's car looks clean.
Well, not 100% clean.
I think it looked pretty good in Victory Lane.
I wonder if the damage would be on the left side of his car.
On Kyle's car?
Can you get a race wrecked diecast of Kyle Larson from this weekend?
I think the right side definitely would have some damage.
Racing USA.com.
still has a few of the 164th scale door bumper clear diecast that the three of us signed out that took
me forever and then john screwed it all up you guys remember that imagine that john screwed it up
i've never seen him do such a thing uh hey listen do us a favor make sure you support racing usa
dot com obviously a loyal supporter of door bumper clear we love those guys they do an awesome job
of bringing you guys awesome merchandise and it's easy to get racing usa dot com
two polls i want a reference real quick before we dive into this thing 82% of people
on Jeff Gluck's poll said yesterday was a good race. I agree it was a great race. I sent a poll
out that I want to hear you guys feedback on. 6,000 people voted and I said, do you care about the
regular season championship battle? And 62% of fans said no. And I think that's, I don't, I don't want to
call out race fans. It doesn't do anything for the fan. That's just not being informed enough about how
important that regular season championship is, I think, because it's a big deal.
Do you care, do they not care because their favorite driver isn't in the mix?
Probably. But I truly think they don't care. You know what I mean? I think that they just think
it's an afterthought when really it's not. You know, I don't think enough emphasis is placed on it
from a media standpoint. You know what I mean? Like we talk about, oh, so-and-so's leading the
regular... That's a big deal. That's a five-point difference, right, from first to second. You know,
that's a big deal. That's five positions.
on the racetrack when it comes to a race in the playoffs, you know?
And it breaks down.
I forget what the breakdown is, but it's almost, it's like five.
Is it five again from second to third?
No, no.
It's 15 points to first.
10.
And then second points gets 10.
Third points gets nine.
Third place gets nine.
Okay.
Then it's one point on the flip down.
But listen, we spend time on here talking about it because we know how important it is.
It's huge, man.
And we know that Martin Truex or William Byron at this point appeared that one of
one of them is going to get five more playoff points.
That is massive.
Like if our fans truly don't care about it, we're doing something wrong as a sport because
this thing is super important.
I mean, it's not home field advantage in the NFL playoffs, but it's pretty damn close.
Yeah.
I mean, it's unbelievably important.
It's a buffer.
So on that note, I can't remember who submitted this question, but we've obviously been in
this playoffs format for quite a few years now, knowing what it used to look like.
like knowing what the championship used to look like.
What do you guys think?
I mean,
I will always say from a fan perspective,
this is the best format we've ever had.
From a true racer that I've grown up being a racer,
my whole life, my dad was a racer,
you know, I would rather see a season long,
and I don't care if the guy wraps it up with five races left,
you are the season long champion.
You know, Matt Kenseth kind of ruined that
by just being ultra consistent one year
and not winning a race and kicking everybody's.
I think he didn't win a race
and still had wrapped it up before we got to the final race.
Obviously, that's not exciting.
So, you know, what we're at.
I'm going to play rebuttal on your,
I don't disagree with you,
but I'm going to play devil's advocate.
When you're saying Phoenix is going to be so exciting
because we're going to have four guys going for the championship,
well, our TV ratings short don't scream that they're super exciting.
Well, I don't know that that doesn't have a lot to do with where we're having that race at.
because Jamie McMurray came on this podcast and said,
we haven't had a good race at Phoenix since 1989.
So, you know, I just, you know, I just always.
So if that same championship, and I'm going to throw out something crazy,
let's say it's at Daytona.
You think our ratings are higher?
We start the season Daytona 500, biggest ratings of the year.
Maybe you want to throw up already.
Will the second biggest ratings of the year be the Daytona season finale if we're there?
Yes, I think so.
Oh, my gosh.
I can't even.
I don't even want to think about being in that Final Four.
No.
It's been bad enough.
I've been...
Your stomach's already upset.
We don't need to make it worse.
We don't need to make it worse.
I've been part of the Final Four of Phoenix and Homestead.
I mean, you're still...
I can tell you this, though.
When you go to Phoenix, you kind of...
You know what you kind of have right in the beginning.
You know how hard it's going to be.
But at Homestead, you don't really...
Man, there's so many ups and downs in that race,
and I just don't feel like you get that to do it.
The point is...
The point is, T.J, that people don't care there's a regular season championship.
And the average, quote, fan, they don't tune in for Phoenix, I don't think.
You know, to your point about Daytona, you have that race at Martinsville?
It's the same thing.
You know, I think Martinsville may be more so because Daytona, they're not going to, I mean, they're going to wreck, but they're not going to wreck each other.
There's no, it's unlikely somebody's going to go in the corner and just run somebody over at Daytona.
Martinsville, these guys could be fist fighting.
I think that place or just go ahead and hold it wide open on the wall.
I still think the best thing was speaking of this fighting.
Boy, yeah, we had some guys fired up yesterday.
Bad sons of bitches.
I don't ever recall a race at Pocono leaving with this many people mad at each other.
It's like we were at a Martinsville or a plate race.
And it was across all the series.
I saw Hosevar.
He didn't make himself any friends on.
Hostovar's here a week from today.
A week from today.
Yeah, we'll have to ask him about that.
And listen, I think Carson.
Maybe he'll bring out a caution.
Carson obviously, I think, in my opinion, and it's part of the reason why he's coming on here, has taken a major step in maturity.
And I think he's doing a much better job.
And I think that Saturday he made a pretty big mistake.
That's okay.
That's racing.
And that's the thing.
You just, you know, when you start, the problem is it gets less and less accepted the further up the ladder you go.
Yes.
And I've.
What did he say after it?
I didn't see it.
I mean, I think he basically owned it afterwards.
I didn't see the interview.
I've seen him and Parker,
we're getting into it a little bit.
But just, you know, as you go up this ladder,
you can't make these mistakes.
And I heard some rumors this week
that Carson may be skipping a step on the ladder
coming up next year.
But, you know, the, if you're at that level,
this can't happen.
You know, this can't happen if you're at this level.
So, you know, I get it.
He's doing all the right things.
He's saying a lot of the right things.
Ever since he got that cup opportunity at Gateway
He's come out and said a lot of right things and has done a good job on the racetrack.
And it's hard.
It's hard to turn that off.
You know what I mean?
Like if you're, he's a super aggressive driver.
Good kid.
I, you know,
I don't think that he has any malicious intent when he makes these, you know, mistakes.
I just think he's just, you know, tunnel vision going for it at the time.
And you just, this is something he's another learning moment from him where he's just got to realize.
And it sounded to me like from people's reaction.
I talked to Parker yesterday in the garage.
Like he said, oh, you know, he knows he screwed up.
You know, like he knows, it wasn't like, you know,
he's out of just go screw yourself or whatever.
He knows he made a mistake, and it's just another step in having to do better next time.
Well, it would be fun next week to have him on.
I'm looking forward to it.
Obviously, we've been really tough on him in certain situations.
We've praised him when praise was due.
Shows a lot of balls to walk in here and get on this show because we're going to let it all hang out.
He's a lot of things from super late models to, you know, trucks to cup cars.
I mean, he runs a.
You see him on Wednesday.
If you ever want to meet him, he's at Millbridge.
Oh, God.
There it is.
Let's start the show.
Drink.
All right, let's move on to spot-on, spot-off presented by Moneyline.
Spot on, spot-off.
Spot off.
Spot-on.
Spot-all.
It was super fun yesterday to ride her out there.
I am spot-off.
Damn.
Where do you come from?
Man, speaking of Money Live, Freddie, I know you've heard of Money Lion.
They're a sponsor over there at 2311.
We appreciate them jumping on board.
and sponsoring one of my favorite segments of the show, spot on, spot off.
All I know, man, is they want to hook our fans, DBC listeners up with free money.
Yeah, like you said, I've met these guys, multiple times at the racetrack guys and gals,
I should say multiple times at the racetrack.
And obviously besides being a partner of ours here at DBC,
they are the official digital finance partner at my other job.
I used to call my day job, but, you know, I think we got some night races coming up in Daytona,
uh, 2311 racing.
the Moneyline app is designed to help you take control your money. You can borrow, save, invest, and earn money all in the same place, T.J.
Yeah, I think it's really cool that, you know, I appreciate how much they try to get our listeners free money. You like free money, Brett?
I love free money. Who doesn't like free money? I mean, free money. So just download the Moneyline mobile finance app today.
Use promo code dollar sign, dirty mo, and set up direct deposit. And you can get up to $55 on them.
And I will gladly take that money.
So don't forget, use promo code dollar sign, Dirty Moe, and earn up to $55.
And now on to our first topic.
Justin Haley announces he will move to Rick Ware Racing for a multi-year deal starting in 2024.
Spot on, spot off Brett.
Well, I will have to say it takes a lot to surprise me around here.
and when I opened up social media that morning
and I glanced through it
and the next thing you know,
I start getting screenshots from folks
like my good friend, Freddie Craft.
And my first instinct,
the instinct that I had
was what the fuck?
Like I legitimately said to myself,
what the fuck?
Like this can't be real, right?
So then I sat there.
there for a minute. And obviously, Justin is a friend of mine. Justin is somebody I really enjoy talking to.
He's somebody I got to know as a result of spotting for him full time last year in the Cup series.
And so, man, I just sat there for a minute and I'm thinking back to conversations that he and I had
over the summertime. I hadn't really spoke to him a lot in person since North Worksboro because I
haven't been at the track. But I'm sitting there, man, and I'm just trying to make sense of all of it.
And so I get off my Justin, you know, kind of emotional ride that I'm on, and I go, okay, what is Rick Ware thinking?
And my response is, this is the smartest thing they've ever done in their company's existence.
They have gone from having nothing against these guys, Josh Balicki and Cody Ware driving their cars, to Ryan Newman and Cole Custer.
Big upgrades.
And then I look at it.
And listen, we sat here on this show, or I did, I sat here on this show, and I said,
and I pounded the table going, if you're the slowest car in the garage,
weekend and week out, you should lose your charter.
And right now, the last three cars every single week are the 15, 51, and 78.
And I said, if you're not doing anything to make that better, you don't deserve to own a charter.
Well, guess who's doing something about it?
Rick Ware, they've gone out, they hired Robbie Benton, they hired Tommy Baldwin.
They're hiring Justin Haley.
Wow.
Talk about a rebrand.
They don't make the PR blunders they were making.
Remember that whole Jennifer Joe Cobb announcement thing where they announced you?
She's running cup and NASCAR said, oh, not so fast.
That's a PR blunder.
They're not doing that anymore.
So Rick Ware Racing appears on the front of the page here to really be making a major
attempt to make their program better, make their cars faster.
How do you do that?
Well, you go out and you hire a guy with Justin Haley's experience.
Obviously a good road racer, a great drafter, a good little short track racer.
And I think it's a big hire for them.
So then I go back and I'm thinking, Justin, what the fuck are you?
thinking. So the good news is I had an opportunity to speak to him and he told me what the
he was thinking. And what the fuck he's thinking is, and I've been a part of these scenarios too,
he's been sold on a bill of goods that tells him that Rick Ware Racing is going to do
everything that they can to make their cars better and make their cars faster. And I was a part of
situations like this that came true, right? And I was a part of situations like this where it didn't
I'm true. Harry Scott. Oh my God. Worst year of my life was spotting for Harry Scott Motorsports.
Not because of the people, because all the promises that were made about how they were going
to update their equipment with Justin Algar left, none of those promises were fulfilled.
So when I'm talking to Justin, and he keeps reiterating to me that, and he said this publicly,
otherwise I wouldn't speak to it. Steve Newmark, Brad Keselowski, and Rick Ware, and Robbie
Benton had meetings with Justin, and he believes a lot in the alliance.
that is going to happen with Keselowski and Raus Fenway, right?
So the question now becomes, we know the future.
We know the future for Justin Haley.
I now understand why.
My WTF moment is over.
We know that this is a win for Rick Ware Racing.
The question now becomes, and when we're sitting here six races in the next year,
is Brad Kozlowski, Steve Newmark, or Rouse Fenway,
really going to do all the things they said they're going to do to help Rick Ware Racing?
Is Rick Ware Racing really going to do all the things that it takes to get that help?
And I know I'm rambling.
It takes money.
It takes people.
And if I am Rick Ware racing, I know that I can get better people to come and work on my race cars if I have Ryan Newman driving them and Justin Haley driving them versus Cody Ware.
Yeah.
I mean, I'm 100% spot off.
And I'm spot off for all the idiots on Twitter and social media talking about Justin downgrading essentially.
Because for one, you don't know what his other options are.
You know, I understand maybe that the 51 is a step back from the 31.
But if in my mind, Justin already knows he's not going to be back into 31 at this point when he makes this deal.
You know, I know that Chris had come out and said, like, you know, we want Justin back.
I'm sure they wanted Justin back on their terms.
Maybe those terms aren't great for Justin.
You know, so, you know, when you see people, they said they want him back.
Well, yes, they might have wanted him back, but they might not have offered him the best deal possible.
And Justin, you know, Chris came out the other day and said it's a business decision.
Justin's in the same business.
He's got to make a business decision for himself.
You know, like you said, we both talk to Justin.
You know, he is pretty big on the, the Raus side of this thing.
Roush, the RFK side.
And listen, right now, if you look, somebody, I keep getting tagged in it,
somebody does a list of the teams, ranking the teams as their, you know,
the average of their team's total points, you know, that they had to whatever teams
they got in the underhouse and under their roof and they, you know,
add them all together, average them.
and RFK is like third or fourth in that list.
They're the only,
they are one of the only teams with all their cars in the playoffs right now.
You know,
if you look,
I've seen people say,
well,
you know,
what's a,
what's a alliance with them going to do?
Because, you know,
it's just another four team that's not running great.
Well,
who would you rather be aligned with right now?
Roush Fenway or,
or Stewart Haas racing?
You know what I mean?
The 6 and the 17 have shown a lot more speed lately
than any of the Stewart house cars except for maybe the four.
So like,
it's everything to your point.
You know, Justin's making a decision for himself.
He is banking on the fact that they're going to give him everything they promised, you know.
And I just think that there's when at the end of the day, if the 31 is off the table for you,
what's your other options?
You know, we've talked about the 10.
You know, you keep hearing the same names.
Michael McDowell, Zane Smith over there.
You know, if one of those.
I don't think either one of them is going to the 10.
All right.
That's fine.
But, you know, if you, then you, what else is left?
If one of them leaves, maybe that opens up a seat at, you know, front row.
if front row
are they going to go away from Todd Gillen
to get Justin Haley?
I don't know.
You know,
and it's just,
so that the options left on the table
are looking at like the 51 and the 77 maybe.
And, you know,
if Raus Fenway is involved,
Rousse Fennway is involved with the 51
and the 77's just kind of still doing what they're doing,
that looks way more attractive.
And then multi-year-offer on top of that,
this guy's racing for a living.
You know, there's just a lot of things
that Justin's making a business issue for himself.
And like you said,
he's basing it off of,
of what he's being sold on from these two companies,
and hopefully it works out for him.
Yeah, I'm really spot on.
I think this is a big step for them.
I've seen, and I've preached it for a while.
I know I've seen this model improvements they've been making over the months,
and, you know, their cars are more competitive now
than I feel like they've ever been, you know.
And you don't, you, like, if you get back there in the soup,
they're there racing.
You know, it's not like, oh, we're lap.
You know, I mean, there are weekends where they have their moments or whatever,
but Robbie and Tommy and them guys have done a phenomenal job of keep upgrading that place.
What's the next step?
What's the next step?
And now bringing in the drivers that they are, like Justin's a promising young driver.
He's got a, the ceiling's pretty high for him.
You bring him in there.
And if you look at the, and I know they do talk about it on TV quite a bit,
but from when I walked into that shop from when Brad took it over to now,
night and day difference.
I mean, it's like it's a young, growing, looks like a small Penske shop now.
Brad's transformed that whole place.
And if you bet against Brad, you're an idiot.
So Brad's very successful businessman.
He knows what he's doing.
And, you know, and him even being a part of it, I don't know why, you know,
So Brad's one of the guys that if he tells you, hey, you know, you should do this.
You should probably do it.
He's really smart like that, almost too smart for his own good sometimes.
But he's just one of them guys, man, because he was groomed from that type of, like, who else is it?
I mean, where did he come from?
The guy that hired him first, you know, racing the cup series.
Roger Penske told you to go to the store and buy number two pencils.
You're probably leaving here and going to buy number two pencils.
As many as I'm fine.
Exactly.
So, and Brad's very similar to that.
So I think, you know, I think it's a big move for Justin and it's a huge move for Rick Ware and them guys.
It puts them, to me, this puts them on the map even more, you know, and to get a guy like Justin too is good.
It's only going to make them better.
We talk about on here the difference in drivers and getting good drivers in your equipment.
You know, I'm not trying to knock anybody.
But Cody Ware and Josh Bullocky are not going to make your program better.
When you get Ryan Newman in there who knows what it's like to drive a good race car, he can come back and tell you,
all the stuff that's wrong what you're raising.
You know, everything, not in the car, just team, whatever.
All aspects of it, he can tell you what's wrong with it.
Justin Haley's now been a part of Colleg Racing for multiple years.
He knows that atmosphere.
He can bring that over there.
You know, you start getting guys.
And listen, they are, they're, they're, by, I, just the only thing I was going to give
Justin about was like, you know, he said, like, they've been impressive this year.
Listen, they have not been impressive.
They have, they have been more competitive.
I will give them that.
They've maybe jumped from a 30-5th.
place car every week to a 30th place car in running order. And there's weeks. Cole Custer
was running around the top 20 at Loudon. So there's weeks they can hit on it. But you know how hard
it is to go. Yeah, the biggest thing is they are improving. It used to be we would lap these two cars
in, they'd be the first two we'd get to and we'd lap them five, six times a race, you know, at least.
So like you see the improvement. The improvement maybe in the finishes isn't there yet because
it's a big jump to go. If you try to just look at any team in the sport and try to jump them
positions and see who they're going to try to jump over.
You know, you look right now, the guys run in, if they're a 30th place team, the guys
run a 25th are the Stewart Hoss cars.
Are you expecting Rick Ware to jump over Ryan Priest and Chase Briscoe?
You know, like that's the jump you're looking at making.
So they're getting more competitive.
They're doing the right things.
And to your point, like if they put better drivers in their car, it's only going to elevate
their program because these guys are going to be able to come in and tell them all the
stuff that is wrong.
That's what I'm saying about Brad.
Here's your inspiration.
Here's your inspiration.
And it's two words.
Corey Lejoy.
That seven spire team, oh, they were bad.
And now, man, the guy qualifies top ten every now and he runs top ten some.
I mean, to your point, Freddie, Corey Lejoy outruns a lot of damn teams with bigger names and bigger freaking budgets, right?
I've always said, faster race cars make you a faster race car driver.
But if in this situation, how do you find out if you're wearing racing, if you're actually any good,
and where you need to get better, and this is freaking screaming at the church,
but screaming to the choir.
But you hired Cole Custer, who was won in a lot of series.
You hired all three series to speak in fact.
Ryan Newman, Daytona 500 champion, freaking rocket, Ryan, right?
I mean, and now you've gone out and hired Justin Haley,
who has three truck wins, four Xfinity wins, one cup win,
is a very competitive guy.
Now you can't blame the driver anymore.
Now you can't say, well, you know, Cody ain't that good or Josh ain't that good.
well, now you got good guys.
Go make your program better.
It'll be interesting to see, and it won't take us long.
We'll know a few months in the next year.
How real is this alliance, right?
Because to your point, there were a lot of times yesterday
where both Busher and Brad were running top 10, top 11.
How real is this alliance?
Because we're going to know right off the bat.
And if they're a second and a half off at qualifying
when we get to a Pocono next year or we get to a Michigan,
it means the alliance was all BS and Justin was sold a bad bill of goods.
So I hope it's real.
I hope it works out for all these parties because, again, I like Justin.
I like what Rick Ware is doing.
And it's going to be important to the growth of the sport to have these bottom charters actually not be so irrelevant and so slow.
Yeah.
And obviously the other side of this opens up the 31 car.
You know, and obviously you see on social media this week, Austin Hills kind of a rumored guy to be over there.
Somebody's coming from the Xfinity series take this ride, I feel like.
And that's going to open up another chain.
heard a lot of stuff in the Xvenity series this week about some driver movement.
You know, if Austin Hill leaves, that's going to leave the 21 open.
I've heard potentially somebody, I don't know if I want to go into details, somebody going back
to JGR that used to be there in the Xfinity side.
JRM shuffling, there's a lot of stuff.
Maybe some driver change.
Obviously, the eight cars already open over there.
Maybe another opening coming over there.
Maybe guys going from J.R.
There's a lot of shuffling going on in that Xfinity series.
should shake things up pretty big for next year.
Somebody made one comment to me this week that I thought was kind of funny
because we saw a lot of tweets from people saying this is a career ending move for Justin Haley.
Let me tell you what a career ending move is,
that Justin sits on his hands and hopes that something better comes along
and finds out in October or November that he's not going to be back into 31,
and he doesn't have a job.
That's a career ending move.
Somebody texts me and Brett that.
You know, that's a career ending move.
I said, well, not for the next couple years because he's got a deal.
He's got a multi-year deal over there.
a lot of guys right now. Yeah, a lot. Just so you know.
As far as I know, Bubba's only got one year left. You know, like Bob, I don't know if he's
got an option for the third year, but you know what I mean? Like, there's not a lot of guys that
have a multi-year deal, you know, that are going to be racing the Cup Series. They know for a fact
in 24 and 25. Like what I was going to say is like if you, I'm telling you, if you look at
last year at this point and compared to like where our cars are right now compared to where
they were last year, we've taken a step. We've taken so many big steps. Like, and it's because
I know the guy that drives and his name's on the place that he's there, already there Monday morning.
He's there four days out of the week. And because he's doing what he needs to do. So, you know, I don't know anybody more committed than Brad.
And obviously Brad's one of the better drivers. I think Brad's one of the smartest race car drivers out there.
So, I mean, it's, I don't blame. I think this is a great, like you said, we don't know what's going on with Justin, what his options are.
So if someone comes to him and says, hey, this is the alliance where we're getting even better and better.
We got even more bigger plans is what we got.
We would like to sign you for two, three years.
I don't know what his deal is.
But I mean, that's, well, how do you not do it for him?
So we don't know.
There might not be anything in the airs, anything else.
That might have been his only option.
Well, and the fact that Brad has been on Justin's side too, like being a driver and having to fight for your ride,
having to fight for what's next.
I think he's.
Listen, people haven't talked about this.
I don't know how much Brad publicly will speak to this, Casey, to your point.
But Brad races with this guy every single week.
Right.
So he has a major opinion formed about whether or not he thinks Justin Haley is worth
forming an alliance with.
The last thing that Roush Fenway would want to do is form an alliance with somebody
that doesn't provide value to them as a race team.
It helps us too.
And value is two things.
Obviously, there's the money side of it, which has to happen.
We're all in business.
the other side of it is what is Justin going to do to contribute in these meetings and behind the seat of the wheel.
So for Brad to have that confidence to be forming this alliance, that's the other side of this that not a lot of people are talking about.
And a lot of times you see a team like RFK use their alliance partners to try stuff.
Well, you're not going to, I mean, I don't want to keep harping on this.
But like if you have something that you were trying to R&D, you're not going to give it to Cody Ware or you're not going to give it to Josh Belicki.
You can give it to Justin Haley.
You know, we got this car ready.
You know, we got this trick thing that we want to try out, see if it works.
We're going to put it in your car.
You're not going to do that with the guys they've had in that car.
Now this is something you might try.
Yes.
All right.
Well, back to some topics on Pocono.
Josh Berry chocks it up to hard racing after Austin Hill stole the victory after
a J.R.M. dominated race.
T.J., spot on spot off.
Really?
Yeah.
Yeah, really.
Okay.
I'm spot off.
I was pulling so hard for Josh.
And he did everything.
They had a great car.
They did everything all day.
They Taylor called the right strategy.
I think it was going to win.
I mean, I'm sitting there doing math in the room that I was stuck in.
I'm sitting there doing math trying to figure out if they're going to catch,
and I think they were going to catch them.
You can use a lot of times under if you can visibly see the speed difference and like you can
kind of judge it yourself.
But I was doing the math and I think Josh was going to catch the guys that were saving fuel
and trying to stretch it.
But, you know, great race.
I think Austin Hill is.
a superb Xfinity driver and he knows what to do and he gave Josh a great push on the restart.
They both cleared the bottom lane, which is maybe not what you want being in Josh shoes.
You just want to clear him and let them race.
But listening on the radio Josh was talking about, he wanted Austin behind him because
he knew Austin was a good pusher.
Well, Austin got him in turn one, probably a lot faster than he had gotten there all day
on restart.
So I think that probably caught him off guard.
Austin did follow him kind of close down into the corner.
But I don't think he, you know, if Austin did, Austin's probably good enough to send him there at the right spot,
just enough to get him a little bit loose to get beside him.
So that's kind of what happened, was pulling hard for them guys, and it just didn't work out.
But good news is I think we got a lot of good tracks coming up where I still feel like we got a good point buffer.
And, you know, if we got to point our way and fine, it's not until about right now.
where you want to start hitting your stride for the playoffs anyway.
I feel like if you're strong in the beginning part of the year,
a lot of times it's hard to carry that the whole season.
Do you think Josh Barry, I mean, listen, no wins just deep into the season
and one of the best teams in the garage.
Do you think he was trying too hard?
I mean, I don't know if he was trying to hurt there.
I mean, I just think it was a situation.
He's a bit.
I think it was a situation that he hadn't been put in yet that race.
And I think he wouldn't, there's a lot of resorts there.
And when you go in there seven miles an hour faster than what you had been going
all day because you've got a good pusher behind you for once. It's different. So, you know,
but it's okay because the stronger, you know, his confidence has, you know, probably been down
a little bit because we haven't been getting the finishes that we should have been getting
and to be strong at Loudoun for a while and to be strong at Pocono. That shows you the potential
is showing. And, you know, I think Taylor and them are getting better as the season goes on here too.
So I'm, I'm okay with how things are going. I think the momentum is building for the right
If we can go off, I mean, you can't tell me that Josh isn't going to go to, his name's in the hat for winning almost every week now.
I mean, I think he could go.
If I told you Josh wins two out of the next three races, would you be really surprised?
Yeah.
Or would you be like, okay, that's possible.
I bet you you don't win two out of the next three.
I'm just saying, it's not, it's doable.
Like, it wouldn't be far-fetched.
How many races, and listen, I love junior motorsports.
If not for junior motorsports, we wouldn't have this podcast.
Had I not walked in the door with Elliott Sadler, one main financial, one main sponsor, DBC back in the day, I wouldn't be here.
So this is not a shot at the organization at all.
They're giving away races left and right this year.
Oh, we've given away.
I mean, if you look at here, we were going to, we had a shot at winning Daytona.
A shot.
We know how that ended.
We had, we were going to win Richmond.
We were leading Richmond until the 51 car parks on pit road.
And then Freddy's guy decides that 12 stick better than four.
So it's Freddy's fault.
That's not true.
I know, but I just want to blame me.
I just look at it in general as the seven,
car was the fastest car in the race from where I was watching. I didn't have all the, I can imagine
TJ sitting in a room like he's in an asylum with all this technology just completely geeked out.
Like he's on full-blown. I am sitting there by myself with a beard in my hand watching on TV.
I definitely have three things, three devices and stuff going to one time. To me, the seven looked like
he was a rocket. Like, how do you lose this race? Well, holy cow, let me tell you how you lose this race.
They managed to screw that up. Hold your beer. Time after time again. But Junior Motors
Sports in general has given away five wins this year, four or five, probably at least.
They got to fix that.
Yeah.
Yeah, same thing TJ said.
And, you know, one key moment, I think, was obviously he pushes, the 21 pushes the eight down
into turn one, gets him free, gets around him.
Josh did a really good job getting back to him, getting into one, kind of packing a little
bit of air, and getting back up next to him.
And I think there was just this one moment late in turn one where it just gets a little bit free,
He steps out on him and he has to chase it up into the 21.
And that just killed all of his momentum for the back straightaway.
He's seen him try to get away from him.
But by that point, the 21's already clear and the one's come in.
They make contact and I'm assuming the contact with the one cut the right front tire.
But I think that if he just doesn't get that a little bit loose underneath the 21 off of one,
they have a hell of a race down that long pond.
But once he made contact there and it was a little bit free, it just killed all of his momentum
and unfortunately couldn't close the deal out.
Yeah.
Yeah, and Sam had such a good run.
I really don't blame Sam for trying to make a move.
When it was initially happening, you're like, okay, well, Sam's coming up behind him.
Sam's going to probably push Josh back because it's pretty hard to pass two cars like that on the backstretch.
And, you know, Sam had such a good run.
He was going to the outside.
When they hit, they both kind of met in the middle, and that's what cut Josh just right front.
And Sam's got to be a guy.
Sam had a phenomenal race, by the way.
He's got to be a guy that's filling the heat, right?
I mean, he's been there two years.
He's not one of a race.
Had speed at times.
I'm not really been in contention to be in winning.
The other cars are, and he's not.
I mean, he was this weekend, but he's got to be a guy that he fills the heat turning
up on his butt.
Yeah, for sure.
Well, J.R.M. led 71 of the 92 laps.
And lost.
Yeah, unfortunate.
But at least they're in the running.
Moving on to Sunday.
Moving on to Sunday, Jerry Ligano says it would be an easy fix to have spare tires
accessible for cars that have flatted on the track. He thinks that, sorry, flatted, is that the
word? Flattened? That's pretty funny. Andrew? No, it's Andrew's fault. You read a word.
You're not flatted. Do not. Like flat tire. Do not cut that out. It's flattened.
Exactly. Regardless, here's what happened, Casey. Joy Ligano, Joe Ligano had flat, he had fat tires.
That's what you did.
I blame you.
Hold on. I blame you.
So like when you bike, you say you flatted, like if you had a flat tire.
Why am I trust?
We're a lot of bikers.
We're a bike.
That was just the terminology that.
Harley Davidson.
I have flattened on the track.
He thinks that would be better than dragging the car on the track for two miles.
Casey, this doesn't matter.
All that matters is Joy Lugano's rant when they got there to pick him up.
Hold on a second.
I'll take that one.
Please.
Don't take it out.
Maybe I'm crazy.
Yeah, that's probably accurate statement.
Is this not the dumbest
thing you've ever heard of?
Completely the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
You wrecked.
You have four flat tires,
but NASCAR should give you
four really good tires to drive back.
Have you ever seen how long it takes
a trained pit crew to get the car
off the ground on pit road to get the tires
changed? Now what are we going to do?
Have four tow truck drivers
out there trying to do it? On the banking.
Oh yeah, on the.
Jack it up on the banking. And then what if there's three guys out there? We have three trucks
maybe we should drive by your pit stall, pick up your pit crew, bring them out there with you.
Like, I get it. Yes, that would make your life a lot easier. You're not to fix this.
Don't spin out. I just like, and that's the other thing. You know, you hear the rant and I get it.
You're mad. You're just erect. You were leading the race. You've got cycle back. Don't be an asshole of the guy that's trying to help you.
Like, this guy doesn't know. Like he's just MFing this guy and called him a stupid son of us.
bitch and every other name under the book.
And then he gets out and he's like, you know, me, the tow truck drivers are very capable.
Like, like, what is going on here?
Like, you cannot honestly believe that we should just ride around killing parade laps
while we just try to figure out how to change your four tires on the racetrack.
Like, this is, this is an actual.
And the end of this, by the way, you didn't finish race because the damage was too bad.
If they could have brought you 12 tires out there, then your car was wrecked.
Like, it did not matter.
Yes.
I just, I don't know.
I thought, maybe I thought, like,
Because he's like, oh, we've talked about this.
I brought it up.
He's trying to make intellectual points about it.
And I'm like, this sounds like the dumbest I've ever heard of.
Like we're going to, like Daytona.
Could you imagine Daytona coming up?
We just have a 47 car pile up and we just kind of empty the whole infield
and bring them all out there to change everybody's tires.
Like what?
Are you serious?
Yeah.
What are you going to be?
I mean, he's getting pretty close.
Yeah, I mean, what if there is like four guys that spent out at one time?
They don't know minimal contact.
Who gets tires first?
Yeah, I mean.
Go by points.
or we go by qualifying order.
Yeah, that's a messy.
That's a messy thing for sure.
It reminds me of Joy Lugano's rant inside of his car reminds me when I get home with
Togo Food and I open my burger up and they put a fucking tomato when I said no tomato.
That might be the most accurate thing that you've ever said in my...
That's what I'm doing you.
Stupid sons of bitches.
Oh my God.
You want to drive back to that restaurant and throw the tomato at their window when you're...
I had a couple drivers I worked with earlier in my career and I thought they were
bipolar. I've since learned all drivers are
are bipolar. Are you? How many drivers after this
weekend? How many drivers do you think are like,
hey, can we take these microphones out of here?
Because if you got priests on there, he's not
being very friendly to Corey. He said
some mean things.
Joey's just destroying the
poor tow truck guy because he doesn't know what he's doing. I want
more microphones than cameras. I want them all.
I want cameras everywhere. I want them on the
spotter stand too. Nope. I don't think
they need to be up there. I mean, would I tell you
he was dog cussing that guy?
for third i'm like this i couldn't even listen to i was trying to listen on the plane and i couldn't hear it so then i went back and i thought it was over like i saw one clip that was like 10 second and then there was another one that's like a minute long and it's just not stop what if you know that guy walks up to the car and what if the rules are reversed what if that guy had a swadding it's like you stupid we can't we can't assume that you listeners have have heard joy lagano ranting at all you got to do is go on twitter and find it i'm telling you it is epic yeah i mean i understand what do you think he's going to do to that guy
He's going to do something for that guy.
No, he's not.
No.
He's not going to send him a Christmas card or nothing.
In his interview after that, when he comes out of the care center, he's like, you know, he's praising the tow truck driver.
He's like, oh, you know, they could do it.
You know, they could change.
Well, you couldn't, you were just M-Fing this poor guy because he didn't know if you wanted to push or a toe.
If I had been that guy and I had been towing his car back, I would have been swerving left or right.
Do you know how long it would have took me?
Oh, you want to call me a stupid son of a bitch.
Well, I'm going to tell you what.
Now you're going to really call him.
I would have dropped it.
Tunnel turn bomb.
It would have took me three days to hook that thing up for one.
Then I would have dropped it on the way back.
Dude, and I'd have my left hand out the window going, you, you know, how's your ride back
there, buddy?
What about out of the tunnel turn?
The guy just does his loop one time, keeps down going.
A couple circles.
Oh, my gosh.
I'm lost.
Make it look like he's tubing on the lake.
Just sling his ass all over the racetrack.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, that was amazing.
Hopefully that guy listens to the show.
Perfect visual.
More on track drama.
Awesome.
Austin Dillon throws his helmet at Tyler Reddick saying,
I thought I held my line.
This was amazing.
This was amazing on TV.
Could you see it when you were at?
I couldn't see him throw the helmet.
Oh, it was like, oh, no, no, no.
Then the helmet comes rolling on the track,
and these helmets are like expensive.
He hit the trifecta.
Like, you talk about wooden idiot.
Well, I don't know about that.
He wrecked himself.
He wrecked his helmet.
And he missed his target.
Yeah, that's...
I mean, I know this guy's a pretty good athlete.
This is one of the worst throws I've ever seen.
Yeah, Austin, he's athletic.
He was in the Little League World Series.
It was, I mean, well.
Was he really?
Maybe that's what he was used to 60-foot mounts because that's, I mean, he's not used
that he's not a 30-foot mound.
Because it looked like a first pitch that gets bounced on the way in there.
Well, obviously he wasn't a pitcher.
I think he was.
But, you know, like he didn't have a good day.
Had he ended up wrecked the 78.
Like, they were back there.
He was running.
Oh, that wasn't his fault.
I don't know if I'm asking.
Yeah, the 78 kind of wiggled.
Here's what, listen, NASCAR does it.
like you on their surface. We know that since the incident a few years ago. You're talking about me.
I'm like, what the a fuck? No, that definitely don't want you on the service. But they also don't like
you throwing helmets. And so what they'll do this week is they'll send Austin a message and say,
we need you to send off that helmet and have it inspected to make sure you can wear it again.
And then now you're obviously, most drivers have two to three helmets. Now you're on a backup
helmet and you've got to worry about that audio and all that blah, blah, blah, blah. So listen,
this was Austin Dillon wrecked himself.
and he didn't know it.
I wish he would have saw a replay before he did his interview.
He did.
That's the problem.
Well,
but let us talk about that a minute, too.
That was a violent hit.
Oh, yeah.
I mean,
when I tell you violent,
that looked like when we hit.
What are you trying to say?
It's ready for the off season.
It scared me.
Like, I know,
when I saw that wreck,
I was like, man,
I really hope he's okay
because that was a really,
really violent hit.
I mean,
when you look at Kurt Bush's hit last year
compared to this hit,
this is light years ahead.
It looks more violent.
Clearly it wasn't.
But like, I don't,
maybe,
Maybe he needs to be rechecked out today to make sure he's okay.
If he saw replay and said it.
If you get on the app on your phone and just go to the three, the scanner, you can tell
because he's like, I'm all right.
You know, you hear that a lot quicker.
Yeah, but that don't mean they're all right.
Oh, you were getting, weren't you getting a beer?
Probably.
Yeah.
I think that's what you said.
I did.
I missed that right.
To your point, you know, that's what happened with Noah.
Where was that at?
Nashville, I think.
Like he came out and did an interview, obviously, you can tell in his interview.
Gateway?
Gateway.
Gateway was a gateway?
Oh, yeah.
And, you know, he was obviously not.
100% in his interview.
And then it comes out two weeks later that he, you know, he's kind of voluntarily
took himself out of the car because he was not feeling well.
But yeah, that, that he definitely saw replay.
The only reason I always saw replay is because he referenced Dale Jr.
comment about Dale saying that he chopped him or came down on him.
And, you know, he, he's trying to rebutted a little bit.
But it's hard.
And I, it's, you know, we always talk about surround yourself with the right people, you know.
Or don't wonder I'm such a mess.
Yeah.
You hear, you hear Richard come on there and he's just, you know, saying,
thing. He's just tearing up Reddick, and I'm like, obviously, there's no love loss there
between the two of them. But I don't know what, if you look at like the angle of the entry
of the corner, and for one thing, spotter side of things, we have no, like we can tell them
the three wide, but we're not, nobody's from our side's clearing anybody into one there.
So it's kind of on the drivers to know where these guys are at. And I think Austin just, I don't
know if he didn't know that he was down there or didn't expect him to stay in it. I don't know,
but he definitely came down on Tyler more so than Brad was on the outside as well. And, and
And honestly, when they showed the camera, Brad's not even in the shot a lot because he's so high on the track.
So I definitely think Austin was a little lower than maybe he thought Brad was tighter on him or something.
But I don't think it was anything other than a racing deal.
I don't think Tyler went in there and said, oh, this is the three cars day.
Here he goes.
Tyler is not like that.
I think just going for the same spot at the same time.
100%.
Denny Hamlin says both guys wrecked themselves.
I didn't touch them after run-ins with Larson.
and Bowman. Oh, I have a lot still.
Freddie.
Well, I can say one thing.
Denny's great. Denny is great at Packing Air.
He, I agree with him on half of this. He didn't touch the 48.
He didn't touch him.
He, you know, but listen, just because you didn't touch a guy doesn't mean that you got exactly
what you wanted out of that situation, you know, you're going in there. I mean, I'm not saying
that he wanted the 48 to spend.
but he wanted to drive in there, pack as much air on the back of the 48 as he can, left for a quarter panel.
Why wouldn't it?
And free him up through the center of three so it kills all his momentum down the front stretch.
Unfortunately, the 48 went around.
Danny didn't make any contact there.
Fast forward, a couple restarts later.
Danny does exactly what the 8 did.
I'm sorry, 21 and 8.
You know, he gives the 5 a big push, gets himself clear, drives into turn 1,
and then it looks really similar to what we saw there last year.
You know, he, and I think last year he gave Ross even less room than he gave the five.
I think that, you know, he intended on getting in there and making Kyle's life difficult
and was going to be willing to run him out of racetrack.
And that's what he did.
And when we get down to it, this is what we've talked about here a thousand times.
And you can call me a homer because it's my boss or whatnot.
But he's racing for the win, you know.
And that is, that's a 10-point swing as far as playoffs go.
Not only you're racing a win for a win, you're racing another playoff championship contender.
for a win. So now not only did you give yourself five points, you've cost that guy five points.
So, you know, I don't know how much that factors into it, but I don't care if it's your buddy,
your brother, your mom, whoever it is. You put any race car driver in that position, they're going
to go for it. And Danny did. And obviously, and you guys can jump in here. Kyle has every right
in the world to be pissed off. Denny got in there, drove into the side of him and ran him in the fence.
But, you know, at some, like they're racing for the win. I don't know what you're expecting of the guy
in the bottom. I am spot off.
as far as you can be spot off
because another guy
when the roles were reversed in this situation
which last I can remember
is Martinsville
when Alex Bowman
bumped Denny up the racetrack and got the win
Denny did not handle it very well and thought
very poorly of that decision at that time
I don't know if you remember that or not
even disrupted the burnout on the front stretch
because he was so
upset by it
I don't think they should
I don't think he should have raced
there was a reason to race the one like that, but to put, to give a guy no choice, but to lift or hit
the wall, to me is not really racing. And, I mean, I get it. He's going for a win, but look,
you shouldn't, if hard racing shouldn't be you lift or you hit the wall, that's the position I'm
putting you. Now, if that guy has wrecked you three or four times this year, he had every right
to run Ross like that. And I one million percent agree with how he put the position he put Ross in.
And it worked out perfectly how he wanted it to as well. You know, Ross had to lift or he was going to wreck.
Ross wrecked.
But to run a guy that I don't think has had a run in with you, you're racing for the
win, you did everything you could, you got beside him, race into the tunnel turn.
Don't give the guy a decision to lift like that.
That's just my opinion of it, but I don't think, I know if the rolls were reversed,
Denny would be, I mean, there would be, you'd had to swim out of Pocono.
If we were at Myrtle Beach on a go-car track with nothing on the line but beating you,
I would do the same thing to you, Denny Hamill did at him.
because I want to win.
And I think Kyle has every right to be mad.
I think Denny has every right to be happy.
When you look at,
well,
back up to the Bowman thing.
Remember on your report card when you were really young
and they would have this box
and it would say,
plays well with others?
You would get an X on that one
because Bowman and Denny don't like each other.
They race each other like ass hats.
Well, they've hit like three times this year already.
I mean, it's every freaking week for whatever.
If they're around each other,
something's going to go down.
So that is what it is.
Denny didn't do anything wrong there.
He packed air.
Alex got loose, but looking at this Kyle Larson thing.
What are you people that, I mean, even with TJ sitting here, this guy put on a helmet
that day, he went out there, put his life on the line, he's paid millions of dollars to go out
there and race, FedEx is a sponsor, Coca-Cola is a sponsor, Great Clips is a sponsor.
You want him to go out there and worry about hurting Kyle Larson's feelings by winning the race?
I'm sorry.
I'm from, where I'm from, Danny Hamlin did what he could, he raced, it was a racing incident.
you could tell the second that Denny got on him that he lifted to get off of him, but it was too late.
And it put Kyle in a predicament.
Here's where I have a major problem with this whole incident, and people are going to disagree.
It's fine.
Kyle Larson, under Yellow, drove up to the front, and he run Denny Hamlin in the wall.
I have a major problem with that.
That is a personal foul.
In any other sport, that's a personal foul.
What happens during the game happens between the sidelines as part of the game.
feel like Denny and Kyle were two grown men going after the same spot.
The outcome was the outcome.
There's no call to be made there by NASCAR.
But NASCAR, if you're going to allow people under Yellow to come up and drive other people
into the wall and not penalize them, I have a major problem there.
Yeah, and you saw it last year, William got suspended, right?
And then I forget something.
Like he got a big penalty for this for running into the back of Denny and spinning him out
at Charlotte, I think it was, right?
I can't remember where the hell it was.
but you know this this is but the t j's and tj's right about one thing if you're going to get i i still
think that you know and i to your point of just race him down to the to turn two that i don't
think that's going to be a race anymore i think Kyle's going to get clear did denny took the only
opportunity he had to win the race right there i don't know that your teammates third yeah but
denny's teammates third if you don't get up your doors are blown off yeah like if if the momentum's
with the top he's going to push the five by and try to get the five himself i think or or split so
know, if you don't have momentum off a two and we saw it with the eight, you know, they
make contact the eight loses all his momentum and he's a dead duck down the backstretch.
So that I think was Danny and I don't know, I haven't talked to Danny obviously, but like that's
his best and maybe only shot to win the race.
To your point, though, this is inevitably going to come back.
Kyle, Kyle can't, cannot, cannot just keep letting this happen.
Don't compare this to Kansas because it's not the same.
Denny, you know, at Kansas, I think Kyle got the fence with Danny up his ass and then, you know,
they made more contact after that, but that was not the same as this.
But in Kyle's mind, this is two races now that Danny's ran him very hard and cost him wins.
You have to do something about this or it's going to keep happening to you.
So inevitably, when this does come back to him and Kyle does something in return or anybody,
really, that costs Denny a win, he has to react the way he expects everybody else.
else to react. He, he, you know, he's telling, it's hard racing for the win. You know, I don't know, you know, I didn't do nothing wrong. I didn't wreck these guys. I didn't touch them. Well, that's not how they see it. You definitely made contact with the 5. You didn't make contact with the 48. But when that time comes, you better remember this and react in a similar way that you expect to be. That's what I'm saying. When it does come back to him, he does not. Well, that's the thing. I don't remember. I remember, I feel like the Martinsville deal. I'd have to go back and look at it was probably a little more egregious than what we saw yesterday, only for the fact that you can run each other over there a lot easier.
but you know this was this was not and I don't yeah I mean he did ruin Kyle's day well let me ask you
this how did he ruin Chase Ellis day at Martin'sville one time big time yeah oh yeah then he said he
was getting hit when there's not another car within a car length of him but oh I'm not saying that
I'm just saying when it when it comes inevitably and to that point Kyle to speaking to Kyle
you cannot continue to get pushed around if you are you're not people will continue to
take advantage of you you have to and Kyle race is hard like you know he's not one that doesn't
like lay over for he put you in bad spots but you're losing these dog fights and we continue
on that's path you need to correct it i don't know i just all these people at home that are i mean
listen booing denny mad at denny i don't know how because if i put my helmet on that day and look i was
kind of surprised the run that denny got into one he was able to turn in under him and get so like
he literally at one point had his bumper ahead of Kyle and i was like wow i'm surprised in this
particular car with this era situation same thing like josh and it looked to me to me
me like similar you probably have the SMT data to back it up he pushed him into one so far that
Kyle kind of missed the corner and that's what that's what allowed Denny you know Kyle kind of has you see
him kind of have to back his entry up after he gets you're not at full you're not at full speed yet oh that
helps so it's easier to turn to the bottom and make a corner out of it than it is when you're going there
it was just impressive to watch but look 50th cup series win uh 600th for toyota holy cow they haven't
been here that long guys mo and you just look at this thing like this is a huge win and you're at the
racetrack where Denny dominated as a rookie back in 2006. His first two wins in the Cup series were
at Pocono when we used to go there twice a year. Rookies didn't win at Pocono back then. I mean,
Poconos was a hard freaking racetrack. It still is now. It's still hard. But until they
repaved this racetrack, Denny Hamlin dominated Pocono. And he is the all-time winner of Pocono. Now,
that was his seventh. It should have been eight. He got disqualified for a piece of tape last year.
So, you know, it's a place he's great at. But, you know, it's always right is what Kyle Larson
said.
All the buddies know it.
Spot on for that interview, though.
Kim Coon and Kyle Petty were the stars of the broadcast because, and I'm going to tell you why,
Kim Coon shout out to her for doing a phenomenal job pushing Kyle, getting Kyle to talk.
She kept pushing him too.
Listen, we've seen Kyle Larson win and get out and be like not that excited.
Like right here, you've got a mad Kyle Larson.
He said the S word on TV.
And she knows the relationship that they have and she was willing to put it out there.
She did her freaking job so often in the garage.
and in the media, especially these broadcasts, people are scared to say what they really think
because they're going to see each other at the airport and they're going to see each other out to dinner next Thursday night when they all get into town.
Kyle Petty came on TV, whether you agree with his opinion or not, I literally don't care.
Kyle Petty came on TV and he gave you his honest opinion on Denny Hamlin.
And we need that.
Like we miss the Charles Barkley's of the world.
Charles Barkley, whether you like him or not, he gets on TV and he tells you exactly what Charles Barkley thinks.
And we don't have that.
Kyle Petty was the closest thing we've had that in a long time.
So shout out to Kimi Kuhn and Kyle Petty yesterday for being all-stars MVP's of broadcast.
What was Kyle Petty's take?
I missed that.
What the fucks Kyle Petty got to do with this?
He didn't agree with, he said Denny got out and played, he said he made himself the victim.
And Kyle called him out on it and said, you're absolutely wrong, basically.
You went in there and initiated the contact.
But Denny's always right.
Kyle said it.
But Danny's right.
If the tables are turned, it doesn't always work out how he wants it.
Oh, I think it's meant.
That's what Kyle.
I thought Larsen said, Larson said,
Danny's always right and all the buddies know it or something like that.
I think that what was funny was a lot of his buddies were on the plane when he landed and gave him like the champagne spray.
One thing that I did, you know, you talked about what you didn't like him going up there and running into him.
One thing I didn't like about this was fast forward to the next restart.
and we've already seen penalties for this this year.
Cliff Daniels gets on there and tells Kyle like,
you better handle this right now.
If you're going to handle this,
this is your opportunity.
Well, you can't say that.
Now you've kind of taken the knife out of your driver's hand.
So that's another question I have.
So even Kyle called it out and said,
obviously I have to race him more aggressive.
I've never had to apologize for him.
Denny's had to apologize multiple times.
But he said it.
I can't outwardly say how I'll be racing him in the future
because NASCAR will obviously call that.
You're, like, if you're Cliff Daniels, and you tell him, you better handle this on this restart.
And Kyle goes into turn one and Rex, Danny, well, now you probably just got your team of penalty because
you can't, you can't talk about it.
I mean, you can retaliate.
Don't talk about it.
Don't admit it, you know.
So, and we saw that a couple of years ago, like, if the driver wants to retaliate, he's going to do it.
Don't talk them into it.
Because we saw that with, I think it was Byron at Watkins Glen when, you know, Byron's, you know, he was a young kid at the time.
I think he might have been rookie or second year.
And he's, Chad's his crew.
chief and chat you know i think it was kyle did something to him or they got together off of turn
one and they're encouraging him go up there and get him you know go and he goes up there kind of
half-ass trying to get him and Kyle locks his brakes up and knocks the nose on the 24 and it's
like we like he would never have done that and he was half-ass doing it because you're talking
into it like if these guys are going to retaliate let him retaliate you know he's cliff was
kind of stoking the fire of you should hear what they're saying about you on the 11 radio you know
if you're going to get him get him right now you know like listen just let it go let if he's
going to, like Bubba, I always know, like, if Bubba's going to retaliate or not, because he'll
never, if he's going to retaliate, he's not saying a word about it. Like, he's going to be quiet
and then something's going to happen. But, you know, don't, there's no need to stoke the fire.
Let these guys handle it on themselves. Do you penalize, if both of you guys are president on
NASCAR this week, do you penalize Kyle Larson for running Denny Hamlin into the wall under
yellow on purpose? I think you have to. I think it, to stay consistent, you have to.
I don't think they will because of a lot of reasons. I don't think they will either. But I think
you to deter it in the future.
What's to stop, you know, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if, if,
RFK is leading or second, running second and Danny Hamlin's leading the last race,
what's to prevent Bush her from going up there and running into Danny Hamlin and knock
offender and to help, you know, I'm not saying that's likely to happen.
But if you don't set precedence for this, what, what's to stop this things from happening?
I hated it.
Yeah, I don't, that's such a tough call right there.
Because nothing, it's not tough.
Well, nothing came about from it, but like, but like, but.
But I mean, it could have.
It could have.
I mean, it could have flattened a tire, left front, right front, something.
It could have flattened something like that.
And that's where that would have got messy.
Speaking of messy, let's move on to this next topic.
NASCAR wait to throw the caution after Ryan Priest spins with the field coming to take the white flag.
Priest then confronted LaJoy after the race.
Spot on, spot off Freddie.
I don't know.
I'm so on the fence with this one because I talked to.
to Ryan this morning. He confronted Corey because Corey
obviously was the one reason in Ryan's
opinion that he got turned around back there. Oh, it was.
He said, I didn't see it. He said they were racing
for 20 seconds. He said it was really dumb on Corey's part.
Corey chased him up there and Correy. Corey's
probably really pissed off because he made
a giant mistake. He was leading the race, caught a
caution. Cycles off pit road
going to be mid-pack, going to be, have
a good day for them. Unfortunately, not
being accustomed to leading a race. He drives by the
pace car on injury, gets a one
lap penalty. Luckily enough to get a lucky dog
and get back in the race. So Corey's
probably pissed off at that point.
Makes a mistake.
Runs Ryan over.
Ryan spins.
Okay, that's the end of that.
This deal here, and we talked about it on here before, we talked about with this place,
this place is the hardest place to see stuff for our standpoint.
And obviously, race control, I would assume, has video that they can rely on more so
than us, because if you see a guy spin and turn one...
It was on their TV.
Yeah, spin and turn one, come to the bottom, or wherever these guys in.
up there. We can't see him. If you guys have been up there, if somebody spins off a turn
two and we don't see the smoke, we don't, we can't see the car. You know, you can't see the car
there. So I don't know when they see it, when the corner worker sees it. Ryan's running 20 seconds.
So there's probably 10 or 12 cars behind him that got to go by. Now, if you see this initially,
if you see a guy spinning with 10 or 12 cars coming, you need to throw the yellow flag.
Instantly. We've talked about that before. It's danger. You don't know where this guy's going to end up.
What's going to happen? If you don't see it right away, and by the time you do see it, the whole field's
already by him and he's sitting there.
We have two miles to get back around there.
Now, well,
about a mile and a half because you can't let him race by him.
Yeah, no, yeah, you're true.
So, you know, you have a lot of time.
We're coming down the front stretch when, you know,
we're off of three, really, when he's back there sitting there.
We have all the way through one, all the way to two.
Now you could say common sense applies.
Every time somebody spun over there, they got flat tires, they've not driven away.
So you could, common sense could come in and go,
all right, throw it, yeah, throw it here.
Now you're, now you're opening up, race manipulation.
He got lapped, right?
I think he sat there.
He didn't get moving.
Yeah, so he sat there.
So, you know, I think the backlash from this always comes from who's leading the race.
Because Danny Hamlin's leading, obviously not a fan favorite.
People want to see the yellow flag come out before the white because they want another shot at seeing Danny lose.
If Kevin Harvick's leading or God forbid Chase Elliott's leading and they throw the yellow for the 41 sitting there, the outrage is going to be,
the fucking 41 was there.
nobody's around him. It's just a car. It's fine. You could have took the white and then
throw, you know, so all this comes back to who's leading is where the fan base is at.
My side of it is always just kind of like, I try to put myself in their shoes of when they saw it,
how fast did they see it, where's there a danger? Obviously, if they saw, if you're looking at it,
see it live, see him spinning, you need to throw the yellow before you even comes to a stop.
This is karma is what this is. And I don't think karma is a bitch. I think she's the queen.
Look at Saturday's race.
and I would love to know what NASCAR said on their radio
when the bumper of Chandler Smith's car flew off
and was sitting in the middle of the racetrack
in the groove coming to the checker flag,
coming to the white flag, whatever flag it was,
no caution is thrown for a bumper cover.
What did NASCAR say?
The communication on the radio,
obviously not going to remember verbatim,
we could go back and listen to it,
but it was there is a piece of,
a large piece of debris on the front stretch
out of the groove up against the wall.
which down the front stretch, up against the wall, just so happens to be...
The primary group.
And then there's...
I seen Bob had a picture of it yesterday, and I talked to Bob a little bit, and he said
that speaking with NASCAR, they were not going to end the race based on that.
And then the next day, that story changed a little bit to where they were not going to let
them race close to it and then throw the yellow.
If you think Denny's always right, let me tell you something.
NASCAR's always right.
They'll convince you that.
But here we are.
days two, days Saturday, a bumper's laying in the middle of the racetrack in the groove,
and they don't throw a caution, and then they end up getting a wreck, which brings out a caution.
And then the next day, we have a spin. Denny is not at the white flag when he spun. He was in three.
They had 10 seconds to make a decision on whether or not they were going to throw the caution.
They made the decision not to throw it. So now, as a person who's involved in the sport and a fan of the
sport. I'm on the countdown of now when you're going to throw it because you didn't throw it to
reset to put us into another green white checker. So now when are you going to throw it because
you're going to have to throw it? Because Priest couldn't get his car moving. Okay, here's
where I have two problems. Okay, priest finally got his car started. It rolled a foot and it cut back off.
Well, duh. Like he's been in a wreck. Okay. But here's my problem is we have this amazing
battle for the lead, race for the win, when's the car's going to fly? We're having to show a
stalled race car on the racetrack instead of showing how exciting it is to be winning this race they
finally went to a two car a two camera shot but like i just hate that that we've got coming out of
a huge a scrappy win denny's 50th toyota 600 um denny hamlin goes out there gets five playoff points
like all these things are out there that are going to be the narrative of this race and instead
it's fans jumping up and down screaming going why don't we throw a caution yeah and i you know i laughed
to Dale.
Burton's trying to justify when or not to throw the yellow.
And he's like, I know the crowd's mad.
And Dale's like, that's not what they're mad about.
But, you know, like we would be if say, okay, say they throw the yellow.
You know, if we're all by it, Ryan's sitting there.
Danny's off a three, 100 yards from the start, finish line, they throw a yellow.
And then we go on next three restarts and just destroy half the field.
We would be on here today just tearing them apart about you threw a yellow.
for no reason with 100 yards left in the race.
There was more than 100 yards.
I'm just saying, no, I know, but I'm saying,
if they throw that yellow as he's running down the front straightaway.
The biggest thing we want, and this is, I'm speaking for the fans,
the biggest thing we want is consistency.
And two days in a row, you had a damn good reason to throw a caution?
I'm, uh, you didn't throw it in.
And that's consistent.
I'm spot on for the end of the cup race because Priest was able to roll still.
His tires were able, but he was just trying to get it fired up.
And by the time, I actually,
thought he was going to get it fired up and take off, but he didn't, and we can't race by him
when he's sitting there. So obviously he comes back through that. I look before this.
This is what I brought up, I don't know, a month or so ago, that this wreck happened because
I think Corey, I think Corey was mad at him and frustrated and turned him on purpose. This is a
22nd place, 25th place. We have a wreck for 25th that people are just mad, ruining the race in the
front for like this happened into 500, a wreck for 20th place because just drove through it.
because he's having a bad day now.
I go back to look at that.
Like, do you take a guy?
That's what really ruined the end of the race.
Ryan Priest knows how to start a race car.
You know what I mean?
And he tried to get it going on.
And like, you saw him moving.
I'm like, oh, he's going to go.
Then he shut back off.
And it's not that he wants to sit there and go.
I don't think Ryan Priest is that type of driver.
I think he was going to try to get it going and go when he could.
As a guy who's watched thousands of races in your career,
were you waiting on them to,
you knew they were going to have to throw up?
the yellow. So were you waiting on when do they throw it? After I saw him, after about 15 seconds of
him not getting going, because I know you got a lot of time at Pocono, and I think you give him time,
because if you throw the yellow and he takes off and then we get on the one of the next restart,
like Freddy said, we're all like, oh, man, we threw a yellow for a guy that kept on wrong. We've all said that.
We've all said we've thrown the yellow for them when we didn't need to. The guy didn't have any
contact. He slid, was getting ready, trying to get it fired and take off, but he couldn't get it
going. I go back to how it started. We, like that,
Why did that have to happen right there?
You know, and did that contact for 25th place, 22nd place really need to happen?
But I thought they let it play out and you let the race finish naturally as best you can.
You know, I honestly thought Preece was going to get rolling again, and I would have hated it if he did.
And we had another reason to let the whole field go by him.
Yeah, there's no reason to throw the yellow then until they're coming back at him.
Yeah, well, he was all, as soon as he starts spinning, he was pretty far back.
I mean, it wasn't, but if there was only a couple cars behind him.
They were racing for, Ryan's at 22nd.
Corey finished 27th, so I don't know exactly where they were.
Yeah.
Ryan was upset.
Ryan was real mad.
Yeah, well, I mean, if you...
There's two weeks in the road, Ryan's been in trouble.
I went back and looked at, and when one guy goes from, like, the bottom lane to, like, the third lane to get you and it spins you out, you're probably going to be pretty mad to.
I mean, it's too, like, I wouldn't say he's in trouble.
He got ran over by McDowell's stuffed in the fence, ruined his race last week, and then, you know, not having a good day, obviously.
Well, I said, Corey's mad at him about something.
I mean, Corey doesn't just...
I mean, Corey...
On the SMT, down the backstretched, down the long palm straightaway.
They are...
Corey's inside Ryan, and you can't tell, but they, like, they get pretty close.
Closer than I would say normal.
Corey turns left a little early and goes into the bottom.
Ryan kind of almost gets all the way clear, and Corey just comes up like numerous lanes.
And that's just on the SMT.
That doesn't show what on the track.
But, like, it was a...
I thought he was wrecking, but...
So, Ty Dillon, Rex, Chase Briscoe.
What was the deal with that?
I mean, Stu, Stuart, Stur, I mean, Stu, Stur, I'm not.
guys got a target on their back right now. I mean, I don't understand. Did something happen?
You were watching? No, so, I mean, when I went back and looked, I mean, all I saw was some like
hard racing. I didn't see anything. I didn't see anything that would have been, you know,
said, hey, I'm just going to wreck this guy. Finally, I've had enough of them. Well, you did.
Yeah. So, obviously. Do we see any penalties coming this week from all of the action?
No, I don't. I don't. I doubt it. I mean, probably, I thought, what's his name? Austin,
don't get a penalty for throwing his helmet. It'll be some fine of some sort because I think
that was the last person, was Tony the last one to do the old helmet toss? I mean, that was a while
ago. That was, yeah, that was a while back. I can't remember any other helmet tosses. I think it was.
And we've seen it a million times on videos too. He got fined for that, I think. So you would
expect some kind of fine maybe for us to the one. All right, listen up, everybody. I know y'all are
probably putting together vacation plans, planning your next tailgate at the track, or just look in to
upgrade some things around the house. Our new sponsor, Moneyline, the all-in-one mobile finance app has

DBCA Main where we chat all things dirt. And there was plenty to watch this past weekend. Lots of
a reason. I watch a lot of it. I'd imagine you could probably recap them all. Yeah, I love like,
it's so awesome being able to flip on dirt vision and watch the races and um dirt racing don't mess around
like one night they sped the show up because rain was coming and they were like oh okay this is
driver intro and the guy just went through him and that was it and then we're racing like five minutes
later and it was over so but yeah lots of great coverage um a lot of big wins uh rico winning in
pennsylvania is a pretty big deal he had a super fast car um brad sweet also won one night that
I watched.
So those guys had good weekends.
I saw the one race where it was like nobody saw a shoe car coming.
Shoo Hart.
Shoo Hart.
Yeah.
Shoehart.
I sound it off.
I use all the letters.
He, sweet's leading and Gibson's calling it.
It's like he just shocked that Logan passed him.
You know, he was it.
Brad didn't win.
He got passed at the end.
He got passed at the line.
But it was like Johnny Gibson, who's the announcer forever, does a great job.
He is calling.
it like Brad's going to win.
And he gets around him.
Yeah.
So I will say though that we get spoiled with the spotting stuff because dirt racing like and I've
learned this a little bit because I run a little of that on our racing in it while I run
in this league and then they turn the mirrors off.
So you have no idea where a guy is running or if they're, you have no idea where they're moving
to.
And Brad, you don't know until they get there and you see him, right?
and then he didn't see him until, oh, there he goes.
And, oh, this is the end of the race right here.
You hear a lot of times, I obviously watch a lot of dirt racing.
And you'll hear a lot of times, like, you'll see a guy running a guy down.
You know, they're obviously running different lanes.
And you just want to yell at and move up.
A lot of times it happens in lap traffic because, you know, the leader, the second place guy
can see where the leader's at and where the cars in front of the leader are.
And he can kind of plan his attack where the leader doesn't know if anything's coming.
But you'll hear him say, like, you know, oh, he showed me a wheel.
So I moved up to that laner.
He showed me a wheel and I moved down there.
and that's all they're relying on is hearing a guy or hopefully seeing him before and i think there
was a race it may be it may have been an all-star race where uh austin mccarral was leading and somebody
got to him i think it was zeb and and showed him a wheel and austin moved up that the very right
second like that if he waited a half a lap he would have got killed and obviously zeb ended up winning
because he also made a mistake it hurt it hurt brad because brad was running the bottom yeah and when you
run the bottom you can't you can't see the guy on the outside and when you're running the outside you can
look down to the left and see out of the left side a lot easier than you can in the right.
So worked out perfect for Logan.
It was a good race.
Great race.
Yeah. Indiana Sprint Week was fun.
I seen Grant won by, he beat Ballou by, I think it was like 5,000th of a second.
Oh, so close.
That was a good race.
I've seen the all stars Chris Windham promoted a race in Spoon River.
That was a big deal.
He had a, he came from the back or near the back.
Yeah, he's been doing that all week.
I think the one week, Couch Racer sponsored some awards there for a couple hundred
bucks and one was the hard charger award.
And I'm pretty sure he's sandbag qualifying just so he can take some of our money.
I'm sure that's why he's agreed with here, right?
So, you know, he was very happy to tell me all about it.
I had joked with him the night before because the night before he started 22nd and finished
fifth.
And I said, if you would have done that tomorrow, you could have took some of my money.
And he's like, yeah, ha, ha.
I said, well, hopefully if you're your case, you don't do that again tomorrow.
And then he did that the next day.
So I've seen he tweeted something about he's tired of winning that award.
but at least he's doing it.
But yeah, there was some good racing there.
Zed Wise has been pretty much lights out on that deal.
What's the deal with?
Anybody know where the outlaw points are?
I know Brad's up there.
I think they're tied.
Are they tied?
I know it's been tight.
Yeah.
Is it Brad and Gravel?
Yeah.
And Carson's still hanging out in third or fourth.
One thing I did watch was I watched Roscoe run a dirt, a big block modified.
Did he?
Yeah.
I saw that on Twitter.
How'd he do?
Oh, they threw the green and they split him into one so bad.
Yeah, like, but he did a good job because he had his hands full.
Now, I'm not, he was in a hornet nest the entire time.
When they were, they did lap him.
When they came around to lap him, like, he was just trying, he knew it was like,
wasn't his night.
He's just creeping around the bottom because the track slicked off real bad.
And those guys, like Stuart Freezing and Matt Shepard, Max McLaughlin and them guys,
those things are so fun to watch when the tracks slick off.
But Ross, he went into one and all them guys pitched the car.
And Ross is going in there and the nose is going on there and the nose is going
straight up the racetrack and they're just they just split them both sides but hey i give him i give him
credit for going and doing it well shout out also to all the fans who tweet us some of the dirt track
action that they get to watch or get to see i think that was pretty cool i seen one guy said you guys
claim to be all things dirt now and i was like hey listen bud i didn't even reply i'm going to tell you
on here we don't know shit about dirt racing we like we just watch it we enjoy it we take it in like
you do we're fans of it um i try to i lean on chris and my buddy tyler for for some inside of
about what I should be looking for or what I should be watching or Chad or Chad but I've known
I mean Chad I just feel bad for him that's just our lively so me too so that's just our livelihood but
we just like it we want to share it with you guys and and honestly like it sounds like most a lot of our
fans watch it too or they're at a local track if you have a local dirt track go and and keep us updated we
like to know this stuff we like to know what you're watching it's been cool to see some tweets
so thank you all yeah and I mean we're in the middle of Indiana Sprint
week, which obviously started back in 88.
The outlaws, I know they're coming up.
They got some stuff.
The late models look like they run the 28th of Fairbury.
World Outlaws.
Fairbury is a fun one, yeah.
World Outlaws, Sprint cars are at Weedsport on the 29th.
Another good track.
The Outlaw, Sprint Cars are at Weedsport, the 29th, and the 30th.
Plentyth.
Plenty to watch.
Plenty to go to.
Don't forget to go check out your local dirt track.
And catch it on DirtVision.
Let's move on to.
you whether you're moving on to.
Reaction Theater.
Record breaking calls.
We got a lot.
There are a shit ton of calls.
How many of them are Brett?
How many do we have?
I don't know.
I might have called in.
Tell me if you hear me.
Tell me if you hear me.
300 episode, let's play an hour of reaction theater.
I'd love it.
I bet you there was over 75.
Let's go.
Oh, my gosh.
Let's just pick this week to play every one of them.
No, no, no, no, no.
Since last week, we probably got 150.
50 total goals.
Dang right.
Keep it coming.
Hell yeah, Danny.
I say Danny to wreck somebody
and win every week.
Hey Austin.
Next time you decide to throw a helmet,
take Tony Stewart's one-on-one lessons.
Here you will learn how to throw a helmet
properly, where to aim it,
and the history of throwing helmet.
It only costs you one-ray suspension.
However, you'll get an extra week
of practice on your week off.
Have fun.
He's not getting suspended,
but...
No.
He'll get a fine.
Jenny
Hey man
I got bad news for you
People are probably going to do more than
Boo your rock

So what he's talking about is when you pull in
If you ever been in the infield at Pocono
They have rocks just outside the
garage area,
essentially.
Big,
giant boulders,
essentially.
And they have them painted black
with different legends
of the racetrack on them.
And obviously,
Danny now being the winningest
driver there,
he will eventually have a rock.
I don't know when they do a rock
ceremony,
but yeah,
I feel bad.
There's probably going to be
some TikToks of people
maybe using it as a restaurant.
What was that little guy's name
on all the back of the pickup trucks?
Oh, Calvin.
Remember when Calvin was peeing on everything?
You think people were going to pee on Denny's
Most time it was a 24 or a 3.
I mean, that's what it usually was.
So piss on Denny's Rock is going to trend.
For the sake of the people at Pocono or you say,
please don't do that.
Casey, they're not going to listen to you.
I have a feeling that somebody is going to draft
an image of somebody peeing on Denny's Rock
and send it to us on Twitter.
Well, after this show, they will.
Poor Rock.
What the rock do?
I'm not even going to lie.
seen the two whineiest people
in NASCAR today
kind of getting into it with each other
that's awesome
but my real reaction
Austin Dillon
come on dude you were a
really world huge player
couldn't even throw that damn helmet
did it see him
damn
maybe he threw side arm
I'm not going to lie those cars are moving
at 55 mile an hour still
still gotta get it there
like you like you can't bounce it
like that's yeah
It's like throwing out a first pitch.
Yeah, I mean, yeah.
It is a helmet, though.
That's a little bit different than a baseball.
If you don't have the arm to do it.
It's like the only thing missing was a mom jeans.
You know what, though?
You know what I think would have helped if he had actually did the chin strap back up
and actually could have held it, you know?
Yeah.
Should have an underhand.
Pull it.
A long time listener, first time caller.
I find it amazing that a guy that puts people in compromising situations gets upset when he's put in compromising situations.
first incident
then he raced him tough
and then Kyle
got what came coming to him
That was a sophisticated caller for us
He's a good voice
It sounded like
So there's these voice changer apps
For your phone
That's what I use
Anybody trying to defend
Demi Hammond
Shut the fuck up
You're just a big idiot
He is
He is
Secker ball
And he's all big game
When he's the one
kicking the ball
But when the ball is him
And he's getting kicked
I don't want to hear no
bullsh is y'all defending him
because he's going to scream and
cry and screel like a
fucking canary
like the little
she is
canary squeal
that guy's going to
shi whistled
that guy's going to shi-h
on Denny's rock
he's going to definitely
definitely do number one
number two might be a question
correct me if I'm wrong
but I grew up in an era where
rubbing was considered
racing
then he didn't rack him
he didn't hook his rear
in,
he robbed them.
And I don't like Danny very much,
but he didn't wreck him.
He robbed them.
But it's because it's Larson.
By God, it's a big fucking deal.
Get the fuck over it.
TJ's talking to you.
There is.
So why I look at it that way, too,
is when I was working on the 22 car.
No, I don't mind, Danny.
When I was working on the 22 car,
this is where that...
I thought you were going to say
when you were working on Denny's late model.
Oh, Dennyward on yours.
Denny word on my dash car for a weekend.
Oh, yeah.
But we, Martinsville, 2019.
He was your crew guy.
He runs Joey, he runs us into the fence and flattens our right side tires.
And thought that was, if we would have done that to him, it had been the end of the damn world.
But didn't Joey break his back somewhere?
California.
Yeah.
Just checking.
Yeah.
That was.
That was different.
I mean, I don't even know how many years ago that was.
I'm just saying, like, you keep, you keep putting.
putting these guys in situations, they're going to eventually, like Freddie said, they're going
to come back at you some point. I just want to ask you all to bow your heads and please pray for
us, Blaney fans. It's hard. We're tired.
I hear you, man. That was unexpected. I had Ryan in the DVC picks this week and I guess he
blew up. He was out there racing for the lead, right? It looked to me like he almost
He also looked at me like he broke a tranny because he couldn't, like when he got off a two or off of one, it just basically stopped.
And I was like, oh, maybe he can't shift.
He finished. Decent, though.
I don't think he. He lost his top end.
That's bad news.
He did.
No, he finished 30th.
Okay.
Bless that guy's hard. Like, I truly felt bad for him.
He sounded so sad.
He did sound too sad.
I was sad when I knew I was going to lose DVC picks again.
Same.
Don't forget head to two places.
call 704802-9572 or go to anchor.fm slash doverber clear.
You'll see that message icon at the top.
Keep breaking those phone lines because we had some great calls this week.
You know, Andrew has the time to go out here and run this Iron Man stuff, right?
That means he's tough, right?
He can run.
Yeah, real damn tough.
I saw that he won his age group.
Surely he's tough enough to create a link to where people could just go listen to all 80-plus messages.
How many messages do we get this week?
We probably got 150 phone calls.
We should be able to go listen to all.
I want to hear them all.
So how do I do that?
What are you going to do to make me doing that?
I can give you the login info.
There you go.
I would like to hear them all.
Then we'll share.
And then Brett will tweet it.
People text the number too.
Text it?
That would be funny.
Oh, that'd be good.
Monday morning text.
Yeah, don't text a number call.
Thank you all for calling this week, though.
We had 100 plus to choose from.
Thanks to the Iron Man.
Grant Tarismo, based on a true story, is a movie about a team of
unlikely underdogs, a struggling working class gamer, a failed former race car driver, and an idealistic
motorsports executive. Together, they risk it all to take on the most elite sport in the world.
Directed by Neil Bloom Camp, the movie features an incredible cast led by David Arbor,
alongside Orlando Bloom, Jiamen Honsu, Jerry Holloway Horner, and Archie Medeckwe as Yan Martinborough.
Some of the most famous racing competitions in the world are recreated throughout the use of
actual Nissan GTs, drones, and practical effects. The racing,
sequences are so realistic that the real life, Jan Mardonboro, himself actually served as the stunt
driver for the film. This is a movie that needs to be seen on the big screen. It's an inspiring,
thrilling, and action-packed movie that proves that nothing is impossible when fueled from within.
Grand Turismo, based on a true story, is exclusively in movie theaters this August 11th. Get your tickets

First one is from Amanda.
Why does the spotter say check your switches every time they go green?
Does the driver really forget or is it code?
How many switches are there?
It's code.
Four?
We're flipping nitrous.
No, so it's just a reminder.
You might want to check your switch then.
You know, as the run goes on, a driver will turn on and off certain switches depending on what we have in there for, if you have bead blowers,
different race tracks. You have different switches, different fans, different, you know, components you can use.
So it's just a reminder to make sure, especially after a pit stop, make sure you got everything back where you need it.
So you'll hear me say switch is where you need them and make sure your brake bias is where you need it because as a run goes on, a driver will adjust front and rear brake, obviously.
So it's just kind of a reminder for us. And TJ, I don't know if you guys do it.
Sometimes you'll turn off an alternator switch just to get, I don't know, a couple more horsepower maybe.
Yeah. So you can run without the alternator.
That's at the end of the race.
Yeah, I mean, we use it a lot on restarts and then go back, you know, right after the restart or so just because you don't, but, you know, you're running the risk of draining the battery with the alternator off.
So that's just basically it for my side of it.
I don't know if you, I mean, yeah, it's the same thing.
Just fans, alternate or stuff like that.
I know, like, there are things whenever, like, if you listen to some teams have, like qualifying at Daytona this year, I was listening in on some of them.
And it was like, all right, down the back, flip this switch.
And when you get to off of four, flip this switch, like, okay.
Whatever.
But yeah, most time it's just fans and alternator or stuff like that.
Yeah, you'll hear like sometimes it sounds like code.
It'll be like blue switch down or something like that.
And that's just the color.
Even sometimes the Creecheeful has the driver to turn their stuff off sometimes
because when the drivers turns their AC units on and stuff like that,
it draws from the battery.
And I mean, anything for an extra horsepower these days.
Is there anything to help you a little bit more?
So just things like that.
This next one is from Jenny Wyatt.
Do you have a favorite past DBC guest?
And who is your dream DBC guest?
How about Brett?
We'll start with you.
Man, we've had so many guests on here over the years.
Obviously, we're 300 shows in.
I really enjoyed McMurray.
I enjoyed Burton.
Obviously, Dale Jr. was a surprise a day.
He jumped on with us.
And I thought he'd stick around for a few minutes.
he stuck around for the whole show.
I don't know.
DBC dream guest,
man, that's a tough one.
Well, you've got me, so I don't know who's next.
Look where that got us.
Oh, man.
Yeah, we've had a lot of guests, man.
A lot of McMurray was really good
because he gave a lot of insight from past experiences.
Anybody who comes on,
I think we've been fortunate to have a lot of
guests that bring a lot to the table. And you learn even guys like like even though he's wrecked my car
twice or even like listening to Chandler Smith story, Jesse Love story, bringing, I kind of like getting
the young guys on here that you guys don't know as well as, you know, yet and getting their opinions
on things and seeing how what their weeks are like and things like that. So my favorite part,
well when we first started having guests, we kind of went the non-driver route, right? And it was to
tell their story about kind of who they were, how they got in the.
sport and clearly hear their opinions. People like Kelly Crandall, Jennifer, or Bob Pockris,
who Casey called Bob Pocker ass. And it's still going today. It is still going today. But,
but then, you know, obviously for me, getting a guest on here that is a driver, crew chief,
whatever, industry person, this isn't TV. They don't have to get on here and be politically correct.
They don't have to get on here and give a 30 second answer. Like, they can literally speak their
minds. And that was one thing that I think became very prominent is guys got on here. They got
comfortable and then they let it all hang out, right? Which is why I'm excited for next week's
guest, Carson Hosewar, because we're going to ask him some fun stuff. We're going to ask him some
difficult stuff. And he'll get to give you his unfiltered version of what's in his brain, right? So
that's my favorite part about having a guest. Dream guest, if he'd come on here and not slap the
out of me and be unfiltered.
Kyle Busch?
Mike Helton.
No, that ship has sailed.
He sucks his shit out of me every time
he sees me on the elevator, so I don't know what he'd do on here.
Favorite guys, one of my favorites is obviously, Jamie Mack was
probably one of our best shows from just the standpoint of information that you got
and somebody that was unfiltered.
And one certain that was unfiltered was Tommy Baldwin.
Yeah, that was definitely unfiltered.
is one of my favorites, obviously. And then a dream guest, I'll say it's a dream guest because I know
there's no chance this will ever happen. So you don't have to ask me, my other boss, Michael Jordan,
would be a dream, but that's never going to happen. So it will remain a dream. I wanted to get one
time back in the day, and this might, I think this is before you blessed us with your presence, Freddie.
There was a little riff going on between Brett and Mike Harmon and Mike Harmon one time that was
Carmen.
Applebee.
We do that show live from Applebee's.
There were talks of surprising Brett and not telling him that he was coming on.
There were actually talks about him showing up.
You know who I enjoyed, and obviously this was during COVID, but Timmy Hill was fun to have all.
He was good.
Obviously, Blake Shelton.
What was it, small unit or something?
Yeah, small units.
Oh, yeah. Timmy.
Timmy from State Farm.
Ty Gibbs.
I mean, listen, we've had, listen, the guys that I enjoy that are the ones that get on here and just talk like we're hanging out at home.
Tyler Redick was good.
Tyler Reddick's been awesome.
Tyler's always good.
He brought Fireball, so it's hard to beat that.
I have two favorites, and then I have a long list of dream guests, so we should write this down.
Oh, I'm sure they're all hot guys.
Daniel Ricardo, number one.
I mean, yes, but my two favorites, I will say Dale, and he surprised us after TJU's father from last year or this year.
We need to have him on, and Denny.
Danny was really good.
But my list, Daniel Ricardo.
Weird.
Clint Boyer, Tony Stewart.
Has Boyer never been on here?
live show with us at Whiskey River one time.
That's true.
Yeah.
And I would like a NASCAR official, anybody that you call out all the time for being inconsistent
or he's not anymore.
But somebody who's current, I joke about this in the media center sometimes, like having
like Mike Ford come on the show and, you know, just talking in person, right?
I think you'd be thrilled.
Mike Ford's welcome to come on here.
He ain't going to like the arguments.
He ain't going to like the debate.
Somebody that you guys continue to call out.
But either way, I have a long list so we can keep talking.
I would like to get Robbie on here or Rick and talk to them about their growth plan and what they're doing and stuff like that.
I think that would be a good show.
While we're doing this fan segment, we had a fan just send us a video, Brett.
Did you see this?
No.
Jeb Burton just sent us this video.
And I meant to bring it up earlier.
Did you see this guy's post-race interview from this sunset?
Speedway. The guy's name is
the upgrade Rick Spencer.
This guy, if you listen to it,
look it up, Sunset Speedway on
Twitter. This guy has the interview
of a lifetime.
You talk about the don't give a
tour. This might be
the new president of the
process here. So go
look that up. Jeb just sent it to us.
I'm sure he's good. I'll tweet it out later.
Yeah. After I watch it. It is
he fits
in more. Andrew would
way, like he would never come off the, yeah, he would never come off the bleep button if that
was the case for this interview. So go look that up, Brett or I will retweet it here in a little bit,
but that was, it is something to see for sure. Awesome. Well, where are we on to next?
What an idiot. Perfect segue. What an idiot. I, I've got a list. Oh, yeah. I see you pull it up.
Freddie, you want to go first. I mean, I can't if you want. Obviously, Austin Dillon was near the top.
Joey Lugano was near the top. We already talked about it.
all that.
My one idiot for the week is going to be Frank Denny.
Wow, what he did?
My man, Frank Denny.
Collick Spotter.
Colleg spotter for A.J.
Amendinger.
He spots for the 10 car and Xfinity.
Last year, we left Pocono Raceway and I parked out front in the fan lot.
And I admittedly drove like an asshole to try to get out of that.
I didn't like break any laws or speed or anything, but I had to do some cutting off
with people and be aggressive.
And be aggressive.
and I barely got out of the lot.
And when I did, Frank called me, and I had just gotten on 81 to head to the airport,
and Frank was still in the parking lot.
Yeah, I remember this.
And I had told Brett about it because Brett was Frank's teammate at the time.
And I kind of said Frank's an idiot at that point.
And then guess where Frank parked this year?
Same spot.
Actually, he's parked in a worst spot because when I looked at his truck in the parking lot,
the way they were parked around him, he couldn't even get out of his spot without like a 17.
turn. Wow. So then I was
torturing him. The whole race were just like, Frank,
you know you're screwed, right? Like now
this year versus last year,
there's much, way more people
there. So I knew he was in trouble.
And Frank
text me and I got it when I got to the airport
and it was two minutes before
I got to the airport and it was a picture of him
still sitting in the parking lot. So I had driven
probably 30, 40 minutes to the airport.
It was out of my car at the airport and Frank
was still in the parking lot.
Maybe that's why the people were complaining
about traffic.
Well, I don't know how you get out of there,
what the egress looked like on that side of things.
But, yeah, that Frank, you are,
just for the fact that you got stuck two years in a row.
No, it's not even that, Freddie.
It's the fact that he's a Cupspotter,
he's been doing this for years.
If you don't know how to get out of a racetrack.
That's half the fun of the weekend.
That's the only thing I was good at
at the end of my full-time career
was actually getting out of the racetrack.
Well, I mean, like Freddie said,
there's a lot of...
You had a lot of time on your hands this weekend.
A lot of people to pick from here.
But I don't think he even really cared,
but after the Formula One race,
I'm sure you saw the trophy get broke.
No, I didn't see it.
So Lando goes to take his bottle of champagne
and smash it on the corner of the number one
where Max was.
Max's trophy's sitting right there.
And Max's trophy's obviously made a porcelain or glass
or something that can break.
As soon as he does that, the trophy falls off.
and it smashes the top off and the base off.
And they just keep spraying champagne.
And when Max is all done,
he politely grabs the two pieces that are left of his trophy and walks on the stage.
But it was kind of funny because Lando actually turned out and looked at it and was like,
oh God,
but just kept spraying champagne.
I need to know how he does that because I've seen people try it.
Shane did it at Chicago.
I think that's where they all really started.
Do you see what he does?
You ever seen this?
I've seen it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's on the ground and comes out.
Boy, yeah.
They smash on the ground and pop it off real quick.
Yeah.
I need to figure that out.
What an idiot is.
And listen, you people can avoid this.
It's all these people on social media who,
y'all have so many resources out there to get facts, right?
You have people like Jim Utter,
you have people like Jeff Gluck,
you have actual people with intel into this sport.
And yet y'all somehow another make up this shit
in y'all's brains like Todd Braun owns Justin Haley's charter
and Matt Collegg doesn't own that charter.
Todd Brown's part owner in that charter.
and Todd Braun still got something to do with Spire Motorsports.
Y'all don't know what you're talking about.
So stop guessing.
Stop believing something you read on some message board that isn't true
and actually use information that is out there for you from credible people.
Stop believing people that don't know what they're talking about.
We have said this for many years.
I know.
Never let facts get in the way of a good story.
That's true.
That's true.
Most good stories start with bad decisions.
True, true.
But anyway, we can help y'all.
DBC picks.
I finished 11th.
I guess I don't know
where anybody finished
because our statistician
Andrew Ironman has deleted all of that.
Yeah, what is the running order here?
I mean, who's up?
Who's got what?
We can't see nothing.
TJ won back to back.
No one finished,
the highest finisher was Chase Elliott and 10.
Yeah, so how many do I lost one spot?
How many wins do I have now?
Freddie, you screwed up qualifying.
I didn't screw up, shit.
You screwed up qualifying.
You were going to start better than 10th
and you started the worst you could possibly start
10th.
and then you screwed up and let TJ beat you at the end with Chase Haley.
At this point, I'm like a lock for the regular season championship.
Everybody I pick gets cursed and I have a feeling Casey's getting ready to.
What did you finish, Casey?
Oh, I got a feeling she's getting ready to screw me right here.
TJ, you've won nine.
Okay, who's second?
So, from you go first, I'll go second.
How many wins does Casey have, though?
I mean, I need to know.
I think I think I should be up by three now.
She's like six, I think.
Just imagine if we could see this.
I think I'm up by three.
Casey is six.
Yep.
All right.
Maybe we can put that back on the sheet for next.
week. I'll put it back in the sheet.
You always have something to call out.
Okay, so I'm second.
I pick first?
Yes.
Let's go with, hmm, I'll try Kyle Larson.
Oh, God.
Last winter there, he's swinging for the foods.
I don't blame him.
I will go William Byron.
Well, she didn't screw me.
I thought she was going to pick somebody else.
I thought she was going to pick Kyle Busch.
That's who I was.
He's been struggling the last two weeks, man.
He's been hitting.
stuff. He's been making mistakes.
I think he and Harvick and Denny,
like there's not many guys that are just exceptional
with this racetrack. And I think Kyle's one of them,
so I'm going to go with Kyle Busch.
How many races do we have left?
Five before the playoffs.
Oh, boy.
Including this one.
Well, I am going to,
since you guys are swinging for the fence,
I'm going to go.
That means whoever he picks he thinks sucks.
Now I think he's got a shot at running decent here.
I'm sure you can talk somebody in the winning for you.
You know what?
I'll go with Ty Gibbs.
That's a good pick.
He's got to do good.
I mean, he's sitting there minus 28 points out of the playoffs.
He is chipping away at it, though.
He's made up a ton of ground in a short of my time.
I mean, what he finished third yesterday?
No, he was a little bit further back than that.
Fifth, I think.
Fifth, okay, yeah.
Solid run.
Good points stay for him.
And you look at the points.
It's Bubble Wallace 15th, Michael McDowell, 16th,
A.J. Amandinger, 17th.
Swares, Gibbs.
Like, that is a freaking five-car battle for two spots.
I still think that being 16th in points is not going to get you into this playoff.
I think you're going to have to be.
If you're 16th, I think you're going to be the first car out.
I think 15 guys get in on points.
And one of those drivers that are back there,
Amundinger, a Suarez, a Gibbs, a Bowman, a Chase Elliott,
maybe even in Austin Cendrick, I think they sneak out of win.
Because we know all of those guys have road course wins in their career, except for Bowman.
I'm not sure that he does.
But Bowman's a guy that, I mean, he's in a fast car.
I don't know, man.
These playoffs are really getting exciting.
Not only road courses.
We have Daytona left.
Literally anybody can win a Daytona.
I've already got my pick for Daytona, I think.
Tell us.
No.
Why would I do that?
Moving on.
I want to have this locked up before we get deep into the playoffs.
I got my pick for Daytona.
We are heading to Richmond where it will be so hot.
Will it be hot?
Yep.
What can we expect?
I'm heading to somewhere that's going to be.
hotter. I'm going to Los Cruces New Mexico tomorrow. That sounds like, and it's going to be like a
110 there. Do you ever like not go on vacation? Yeah. That's where I'm going to go to. I'm going to get
on vacation. Yeah. That's where I'm going to go for a vacation. Casey. Do you know where New Mexico is?
I'm giving you a hard time. I'm going to to look at hatch chilies and pecans in New Mexico.
My buddy Brian lives out in Arizona,
Hosford used to call the bus driver all the time.
And I was talking to him about something.
He was dealing that race with me with the window.
And he said, how's the weather out there?
He's like, oh, it ain't been bad.
It's only been like 108, 109.
And I'm like, Jesus.
So Richmond this weekend, 98, Saturday, 97 Sunday.
Then that means it'll be hotter than that.
That'll be, hey, that'll be good for the racing, hopefully.
Man, it's a good weekend to not do a truck.
It's a good weekend for you to not.
You might want to take one more week and off.
You might want to start coughing or something.
Yeah, I don't know.
It's weird.
I don't feel good, man.
Ever since you read that off, I'm just not feeling great again.
I had to say, man, it was pretty cool hearing the name Joy Meyer was spotting for you this weekend.
I mean, he obviously had a lot of success with Kislowski spotted for DEI back in the day.
Like, that was a pretty nostalgic feeling because that wasn't a name I expected to hear on a spotter stand this weekend.
So was joy, was joy nervous?
Was he pumped up?
I think he was good.
I think he was excited, ready to go.
He come walking by me.
and I don't know what Joey was drinking when he come walking by me,
but he had a red solo cup, and it could not have looked any more like a beer.
And I was like, Joey, I mean, I don't know if you remember how to do this,
but we can't drink up here.
You know, that's, that's, that's friend to find.
Now, Joey, he always drinks unsweet tea.
That's he loves unsweet tea.
So maybe that's what it was.
It just looked like a beer when he come by me.
Yeah, he always, but it was good to see Joe.
Yeah, he did a good job.
I saw him at the late, we saw him recently at the late model races.
Yeah, you'll see him a couple more time this year.
That's good.
Yeah.
See spot on somebody else?
Or I'm not.
You know something.
Well, somebody else is going to race a couple races, so I'm assuming that means Joey's back to filling in.
Oh, I got you.
Do you share?
I don't know.
I just think you'll see him a couple times here.
It's not hard to put two and two together.
I'm not liking all of these like teases that y'all are.
I'm not a tease.
It's known.
It's been announced.
You gave us some information.
Casey, let me slow it down.
Let me see.
You gave us some information earlier.
I did.
That was a tease.
But this is information that's well known.
Just let's slow it down.
Casey, who owns our company?
Talking about Dirty Mo?
Yeah.
Junior Motorsports.
I know.
How many races is he?
Kelly Earnhardt.
I don't think she's going to run.
Del Jr.
owns it, Casey.
Brett did a fan giveaway.
He may be running a couple of races.
Brett did a fan giveaway and I get pulled onto the other podcast for a little bit.
And then this guy gets a free meet and greet with whatever or something, right?
Remember that guy when I was at the beach popped on there?
Oh, yeah.
And then Del Jr. showed up.
Yeah.
Perfect timing. That was awesome.
All right. Well, thank you all.
Speaking about meeting greets, though.
Yeah. What do we got coming up?
We've got a meet and greet coming up at Bristol here, not for long.
The Night Race.
Ultimate Experience is back.
Hey, guess what happened about this? This is the best thing about this.
You're not going to want to miss this part.
Mike Davis.
Isn't coming?
Oh.
We don't want to sell out soon.
I might want to cut that out.
Mike Davis finally invited Dale Jr. to stop by the suite.
and did they'll say yes?
Ah, I don't know what he said, but I think that's good foreshadowing for what might happen.
Last I checked, there were like six or seven tickets left.
Oh, that'll be gone now.
That's the end of those tickets.
If you want to come to Bristol in style, sit in a suite,
Night race.
Night race.
I'll be there.
Freddie will be there?
TJ will be there?
Casey, will you be in Bristol?
I haven't been invited yet.
Oh, okay.
Well, STBD.
Would you like to come?
I would like to come?

And he'll not be fine.
Make sure you come see us at Bristol.
It's going to be fun.

Yeah, it'll be great.
Get your tickets at dirtymodemedia.com
slash ultimate experience.
And like Brett said, there's only a handful left.
And after that, what he just teased,
they're not going to be there long.
So don't wait now.
Well, we're about to close out of our 300 episodes.
So I think this is a perfect time for you to share your Columbia story, Freddie.
Nope.
You want to hear the Columbia story?
Come to the Dirty Mo experience.
That's where it gets told.
Never going to happen on here, just so you know.
There's probably a lot of stories that we could...
I know.
But, yeah, that would...
There was another one somebody asked for this week that I thought we might be able to tell,
but I can't remember what it was now.
I mean, listen, we like to have fun, and it's fun to have fun.
It's fun to have fun.
And Richmond's a good place to go have fun.
Yeah.
It's a good place to watch a race.
They've got some awesome amenities there at the racetrack, one of my favorite places to go.
listen and if it's going to be i mean if you're talking it's going to be 97 degrees outside that's
going to put the track tan through the roof it's going to be hot it's going to be slick hopefully
that promotes good racing obviously the race is here the first one wasn't terrible the short track
package isn't where it needs to be they're going to be testing i think now we've moved that
new hampshire test got moved to richmond on monday or tuesday next week so hopefully this this new
splitter lift packages they're going to run can can can help
us but you know smaller tire is that on the list i don't think that's on the list you don't
do you bad but uh but hopefully it's a good show come on out say hey stay cool until the race starts
don't come out early be sitting in the stands baking getting dehydrated stay stay stay in the
ac i forgot about something by the way ways i saw a ton of dbc fans at polka this week nice one of
our favorite fans almost made it to the one idiot list our friend kevin what happened
from Virginia.
Yeah.
Kevin lost the keys to his car.
Oh,
I saw that he made her.
I saw that he lost his key.
Oh, no.
And he had to pay somebody to get his another key.
And he had,
he was stuck at the racetrack.
He said till about midnight on Saturday,
waiting for another key to get made.
He said the people of Pocono took amazing care of him,
fed him his family.
That's good at least.
So I saw him Sunday.
And I love Kevin.
I've known Kevin for a long time.
Dude,
that's one of the most dedicated fans we've ever had.
I talk to Kevin every week.
Yeah.
So good to see him.
I'm glad he got his keys back.
hopefully it didn't cost him too much money.
And I'm sure he's my, I think he's from Virginia.
Obviously, that's his name, isn't it?
So he may come in Richmond this week.
That's why his name says Kevin from Virginia.
I know his name is Kevin.
It's frankly, right?
I think it's his last name.
But glad you can draw two and two.
Kevin from Virginia.
You know, no, no, no.
Because the day goes on, we get smarter around here.
As the show goes on too.
So thank you all for listening.
It's been fun.
We'll see you guys after Richmond with special guest, Carson Nosephark.
Have a great week.
See you.
