to get started.
This is Dale Jr.
and you're listening to Dirty Moe Radio.
Outside, door, bumper, clear the 18th.
Best car I had here in a long time.
You're going to do it.
You're going to win it.
Right with you.
You're clear.
Check the flag.
You're win.
One Maine recently announced that they reversed course and decided to extend its partnership with
you in Junior Motorsports.
How big is that for you, your race team, and our sport?
Well, I think it's big for everybody involved, especially our sport.
I think people know by now one thing is the longest running primary sponsor in the city series,
so they're a huge supporter of our fans, have everything involved in NASCAR, huge supporter of our fans,
and what they can bring to the table.
Definitely great for myself in the motorsports to keep this team together
and keep us striving forward here the next couple years, especially being a multi-year deal.
So it's definitely good for everybody involved, especially getting here close to crunch time,
close to the chase time, kind of put everybody at ease moving forward.
We know our future.
We know what our priorities are, and we can focus on bringing home a championship here to
Junior Motors.
Hey, everybody.
I'm Tj.J. Majors, Spotter the 88 cup car, 7XFitty and the 29 truck.
What's XFiti?
I know.
I just made that out.
XFiti.
Sound like a rapper.
Brett Griffin, Spotter for Clint Boyer and last week's winner, Elliot Sadler.
The Expedity series.
Hey, guys, it's KB.
And we also have a special guest.
Today?
Oh, yeah.
See, what do you know the we don't?
Oh, look the dogs out.
Ooh, who, who, who.
Oh, she's so cute.
Brought your bitch.
What up.
Oh, man.
So we'd like to start off by thanking Exalta
for having this awesome studio.
And speaking of Exaltesalta,
don't forget to head over to the revamped
www.exaltor racing.com
to get all the latest news,
photos and schedule for Dale's number 88
Exaltes Chevrolete.
Yeah.
And the only coat of paint.
And the only way to Trump won Main's exposure in Victory Lane is to give them a shout out on the show because we definitely exceed.
They got no media whatsoever.
None.
And we're getting ready to exceed that with this followers.
Millions.
Millions.
Worldwide.
Worldwide.
Doesn't get old.
From now on, you have to call me Nighthawk.
I think we, I know Natalie gets mad when we, our show goes over 30 minutes.
But like, we literally could talk about stuff today for two hours.
I don't have two hours.
I don't have two hours.
I don't either.
A lot to talk about.
I'm so excited.
I'm still excited.
I don't even have two hours.
Victory lane's fun.
Yeah, it is fun.
I just pulled the victory lane bags off the hauler and they're sticky with Gatorade and there's confetti all over the engineering lounge.
Yeah, my spider bag's sticky.
Stuff is flying everywhere.
For other reasons.
I never make it to the car when we win before he gets out.
So I get there and I'm like, why is everybody so quiet?
Joe, my boss and he called me on the way home just to see how everything went.
And we both almost at the same time said, how did Brett get to?
down there so fast.
Yeah.
I turned around and you were there.
He was getting out of the car.
Yeah, there's a tunnel.
Yeah, there's a tunnel, but Clint Boyer's dad.
How fast are you running?
Clint Boyer's dad has a golf cart.
Oh.
So he picked us up, picked me up, and took me to Victory Lane.
So I literally get there and I'm like, why is everybody so quiet?
Because we are literally the last ones there every time.
That's the only bad thing about being a spotter is when you win, you can't get there.
You just don't even try it.
You just take your time.
You just walk half the time.
Yeah.
But it was cool, man.
That was awesome.
Very, very emotional win for Elliott and myself.
because we've been close to winning cup races there,
Xfinity races there,
so to finally get it,
because that's a special track anyway,
and I'm from there,
so it's even more special.
We were talking about the last 15 laps
that you were Elliott's psychologist,
just keeping him calm saying,
don't look at the back.
You were almost terrible.
Honestly, so Kevin tells me 30 to go over Channel 2,
and I'm like 30 to go.
And then what seems like an hour,
he's like 15 to go.
And I said, oh, my God,
we've only run 15 laps.
This is going to be the longest 15 laps left in my life.
I literally was just scared.
I was like, is that more for you than earlier when you were talking?
Good Lord, man.
You ought to worry.
Think about leaving the Daytona 500, all them yellows at the end.
But it seemed forever.
I mean, and I've led the Daytona 500.
We lost that race by half a lap years ago.
And I've been incontentional in it.
Man, this one for me, and I've never really publicly said this,
but my sister was in a car wreck when I was four years old.
She was paralyzed.
She broke her back, right?
She never walked again.
She was 19.
So I grew up going to races because she got hurt.
Another family of my cousins, Clayton and Peggy,
took me to every racetrack in our area,
which was Charlotte, Rockingham, Darlington, Martinsville, Atlanta.
So when you look at it, like for me it was,
man, I've grown up going to races my entire life at Darlington
since I was four years old.
So when you start working in the sport and you're like,
man, I want to win here.
You know, I want to win here.
I want to win here, and I finally won there.
So, like, it was, that was what was nerve-wracking.
It wasn't that we were leading or going to win or not win.
It was, man, it just was a life story kind of thing, you know, so very emotional.
Well, winning at home, like, winning at Walkins' Glenn to me would be a lot of fun
because I'd have a lot of friends and family there.
And it just, it's always, it's always more, I mean, it's always different when you, when you win at home.
Yeah, I mean, it just, it is, man.
I mean, you got friends there.
One of my best friends from home was there, Sean.
Squirrel.
Squirrel?
Yeah.
My buddy Scotty from the beach was there.
So we had a smaller crowd than normal, but still, it, it,
I literally walked into Victory Lane subdued.
Like I was just literally like, we finally won here, you know, so it was cool.
It was awesome.
That was great.
Great for one main, tons of coverage.
And in that throwback paint scheme.
Yeah.
It was pretty cool.
Dude, I love the blue background with a white logo on the quarter panels.
It pops.
I'm actually headed to one main today.
I'm going to bring that up in my meeting of, hey, we got to have blue quarter panels next
year. They probably won't listen, but I'm going to bring it up. Well, your one main friends are working
on the paint scheme for the primary next year already. Yeah, yeah. We're going to really work on it
the next two days. So it should be fun. It was another awesome part of it is it wasn't, I mean,
it was fast all day. Yeah. You know, we go to these tracks and we know who's supposed to dominate
these tracks and to come out of the, you know, start the race like that and get up there in the lead and run up
there and and uh you know be the car to beat almost all day i mean it's pretty that's impressive for
the company yeah as well how far you know making progress and gain so yeah so big news for you
last week that kind of bled into the weekend with del junior not getting back in the car your
replacement drivers being named it seemed like jeff gordon picked all the fun tracks and bowman
yeah boehman got what's left but from a dale junior standpoint like how do you mentally prepare for
for what's coming for you as a spotter, knowing that's one of your good friends that's out of the car
indefinitely, or definitely for the rest of the season and then what you've got to manage the rest of the
year.
Well, it's always different whenever, I mean, you know, because you know Elliot really well and you're
good friends with them, it's not as much of a job whenever you go to work like that.
It's more of a, it's a job, but it's also, you don't view it as, you know, you don't wake up like,
man, I got to go work today.
Because you get to go to work with your friends.
So now it's a little bit more of a job.
You got, like you don't have, I don't drive out Jeff Gordon's house and walk into his house.
You know, I don't take my little girl swimming in his pool.
You know, I don't, you know, I don't run out down to Alex's house and be like, Alex, you know, watch my little girl for a little bit.
You know, these are the things that I have with Dale Jr., that relationship and stuff.
And now you kind of, it's different now.
You know, you have to get used to not having that.
Like, I knew what he was thinking most of the time,
and he knew what I was thinking most of the time.
Now I don't have as much of that.
So, you know, you learn it.
And, you know, it doesn't change.
It doesn't change.
You still give a lot of the same info.
Of course you do.
But you don't have some of them instant reaction stuff
where you just, I know what he's thinking in certain situations,
and I know what he's going to do.
Now I'm not really sure what these guys are going to do.
So I have to be ready for how they're going to react to it more because I don't know.
Who was Jeff's sponsor when he was racing?
Sponsor?
I mean sponsor.
Spotter.
When he, it was Eddie DeHont.
At the end of those deals, it was Eddie DeHont.
And to T.J.'s point, I am personally invested in both of my drivers, great friends with
Elliot.
I mean, he's like a brother to me, great friends with Clint.
T.J.'s personally invested with Dale Jr. because of their friendship.
And it doesn't make you spot necessarily any harder or any better.
It just makes you care about the outcome a lot more.
That and the guy in the car also, if you can do your job well, it gives him a sense of
security too.
Not that he wouldn't trust somebody else, but you know if you put, you know if you put
one of your friends up there that they can do the job well, that you're going to have that
added bonus added trust.
Yeah.
Like I know when I say clear at certain times, I can actually see Dale Jr. turn hard right or
whatever.
You know, if he's trying to get an interest to the corner, I'll clear him.
And I can see him come out to the wall real fast.
Yeah.
These other guys, I can see them feeling it out.
Like he said clear, but I'm, you know, I'm going to creep up here.
Yeah.
When I say clear with him, I see him turn hard.
right, you know, because he knows when I say it. There's not a bumper there.
Right. You know, so he knows that. And nothing against these guys either. But, you know,
there's just something you don't have. And I'll, you know, there's only a handful of a spotters
that have that connection with the driver like that, that, you know, that you see during the week a lot.
Or, you know, you can go out there and swim. You just hang out. You know, you walk in his house.
I can leave here and walk in his front door, you know. Yeah. Yeah. You know, there's not a lot of us.
They have connections like that.
No, I mean, honestly, we're probably the two spotters in the sport that have the closest
relationship with their drivers.
You know, I'm not bragging about it.
It just, we truly do.
I mean, we fly on airplanes with them, you know, on their airplanes with them.
You know, there's just not a lot of spotters who have, so TJ and I are very fortunate.
Yeah, oh, yeah, Hunter, like, I don't even, I can't even tell you how lucky we are to be.
So, Adele Jr., I'm in Victory Lane.
My phone's blowing up in my pocket.
Mearm, me, me, me, me, me, me.
I don't look at it.
I don't look at it because you're trying to enjoy the moment.
Guess who call me?
Dale.
Dale Jr.
Guess who didn't answer?
You?
Brett Griffin.
Is that why he called Pemberton then?
So then he calls Pemberton.
So obviously, looking back, he wasn't calling to tell me congratulations.
He was calling me to get on the phone with Elliot.
But nonetheless, I get in the car and I'm driving in my hotel and I look at my phone.
And I'm like, Dale Jr. called.
That's cool as hell.
It's unfortunate I didn't answer.
But, damn it.
Yeah, he was pretty happy.
Yeah.
He gets excited like that.
And, you know, I think that's, I'm excited for him.
I'm just glad he gets excited for it.
That's Darlington to him, too, though.
You know, like, that's a hard.
That's a man's racetrack.
You don't win that track unless you're a badass.
He's been there many times as a kid as well.
Yeah.
You know, so he's got to be special to him too.
Yeah.
All right.
You guys ready for spot on, spot off?
You just sound a country right there.
All right.
Are you going to talk today?
Are you just going to scratch your neck?
You look a, you look a dog with fleas over there.
She's got.
She's got hives today.
She made another bad life choice.
At least she's here, though.
I was going to scratch my throat, but I got hives.
I was going to record the show, but I ate bread.
Spot on, spot off.
You two are idiots.
Spot on or off.
Hives.
All right, spot on, spot off.
Brett.
You'll start.
Okay.
Truck race ending.
Man, can I go spot on and off?
Like, spot on for the entertainment factor.
spot off for the complete asshole move that Nemecher pulls.
So he wrecks him, and then after he wrecks him, he pins him against the wall.
So Cole is in a situation where he's been sucker punched,
and now he's laying on the bathroom floor and the guy's still hitting him in the back of the head.
Like talk about not having a fair opportunity to win.
I don't think Nemechek has anybody, for that matter,
has enough talent and skill to pull that off in that fashion.
Again, I think a lot of it was luck.
but man I was so happy
and then I was so pissed off for our company
you know so you
if the whole win with dignity thing exists
the whole shit it doesn't exist for this guy
oh my gosh I'm kind of spot on
anytime two guys can go across
I mean our whole
wherever you were at if you were watching that race
you were hollering and holler and that's what we need
yeah and it wasn't he didn't just clean him out
he didn't just go in there and wreck him
they came across the line you didn't know who was going to win
They were both in the grass.
I don't know how, like, I'm not saying there will be repercussions for it, I'm sure,
but that's the chance you take as a driver.
Yeah.
I don't think John Hunter, I think he meant to cross him over, but he hooked him.
He timed it.
I mean, he tied, because Cole was aimed to the left.
Yeah, and he was turning right-handed corner, and I was like, oh, this is not going to end up.
And then he kind of, yeah, and then they got side by side.
And I did see, I don't think John Hunter turned left right into him at that point.
Yeah.
I saw the back of the truck come out from underneath him.
before he got over there.
Right.
But when he got there, he dang sure just didn't let him go.
You know, he probably would have won the race anyway.
He got back on the asphalt because he would have took off.
Right.
But.
I'm going to ask you two questions.
Do you think John Hunter and Nemechek deserve the trophy?
Yeah, he crossed the line first.
Do you think he deserved to have his ass beat?
Yes.
I mean, that's, yes.
I mean, when you do stuff like that.
Yes to both for me too, though.
Like, I'm like, yeah, he deserves a trophy.
That's what?
But yeah, he deserved to get his ass.
kicked. I mean, that's the type of stuff.
And I'm glad there was
some sort of confrontation after it
because that's this type of stuff. You can't
just let a guy push you around.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how was Colts flying
leap? 10.
And Nemechek is wearing a helmet.
He sees him coming, and he's scared to death.
Dude, you're wearing a helmet. What are you scared of?
He's like, I'm going to run. Oh, no, I'm not going to run.
I'm going to stand here. Oh, I'm going to get tackled. Oh, I don't know
what to do when I get tackled. Like, it was awesome TV.
I thought. I thought
it's another one of these instances where these two guys,
two people that probably shouldn't be fighting,
but they are.
They are.
I was really hoping that, you know,
Cole would have stuck him a little bit better,
like a linebacker type thing, you know,
and really, you know, kind of got a lot of him.
He was trying to stick him.
But John Hunter's loosened just got him a little bit.
You know, he was a little bit more elusive.
Yeah.
It was awesome.
I mean, from a company standpoint,
we're all biased in this room.
We all want to call them in.
but the entertainment factor 10
I got to give it to John Hunter
I like to see a guy that's going to
do what it takes to try to get the win
and he didn't do it in a way of just cleaning a guy out
he didn't just stuff him in the fence like a lot of guys would have
well he kind of stuck him in the fence
and then they rode the fence
he kind of stuck them both in the fence but he could have just
wrecked him and kept going and when is the last
time and I'm not going to know the answer to this question
but when is the last time somebody won't
a race and wasn't him on the track
so when they cross the lines did you see the
God, Almighty.
They didn't know who won because they showed Hemrick was the leader.
Because the transponders are not in the grass.
Yes.
So when they, it was a big, you know, I don't know.
I mean, it was awesome.
I was glad any time we can have racist finish like that, that is, that's what we need, man.
If they find Cole Custer, I'm going to be very upset, very.
Like, next week's rant will be me going off.
You know, he didn't get, he didn't throw any punches or anything.
He just went out there to.
He was just so mad.
He should be.
And I've met Cole.
I don't know Cole, but I've met him.
Very, very reserved, timid, quiet, quiet,
humbled personality.
You know, like not a firm.
I'm going to kick your ass handshake looking.
I got, like, very chill dude.
So for him to do that, I thought it was great.
Even more great.
I thought it was great that he didn't go out there and just try to throw a punch.
He just went out there and tried to tackle a guy.
And then when he got, when they went out, he just got up and he let the guy know
without, you know, in the cruise.
Yeah, the crews didn't get into a big fight.
It was kind of like, I don't know, I was pretty pleased with how it, you know, how it turned out.
One guy, driver showed another guy that he wasn't happy.
You don't have Jackman in there hitting drivers and stuff like that.
But if you're Colcuster, is it over?
Or do you guarantee mentally in your head?
Do you say, you know what, John Hunter and Emichick, you kept me out of the chase by doing what you did?
I'm going to make sure you don't win Homestead.
I mean, that's mentally.
I'm not saying he publicly is going to do anything.
Yeah, I mean, that's definitely something.
It probably won't come across.
It probably won't really affect anything until he's either in the chase.
Because he's still got a shot to win next week.
But I definitely think it does.
But there's also, I mean, there's also like, yeah, I mean, I personally, I would stick in my mind.
And I'm not saying I'm going to wreck you, but there might be a restart where I overdrive the corner a little bit behind you.
And you lose a handful of spots.
When Ligano wrecked Kansas at the Kansas,
I literally tweeted he won't win this championship.
Matt will make sure.
Matt made sure.
Yeah.
I know.
I don't recommend doing it like that.
Cole won't be that blatant because we've all learned the lesson.
It was boys have at it.
Mm-hmm.
Okay, boys have at it right until now.
Now you can't have it anymore because we've changed our mind.
Matt, you're suspended for two weeks.
Okay.
So we know Cole has to be more strategic in his payback, but he's got to.
He kept Cole from having a chance to win the championship.
Yeah.
If I'm the driver, I'm returning the favor.
But I grew up in I'm a pay you back.
dot com land too you know i agree with i don't think you know i'm i'm totally against some what
matt did in that aspect if you're going to take a guy out take him out in a way where you don't
have to where you that's a bad wreck there i mean if that was del junior i'd have been livid yeah
because i know i would have been i know the consequences and stuff like that they don't need to be
putting each other in situations like that you want to shoot a guy at the track whatever yeah and
i don't know i just i'm to me you make your own luck in racing and when i saw the white fly
Like, Cole had a pretty big lead.
He did.
And he let John Hunter, he gave John Hunter to the opportunity to get there and make that type of move.
So to me, I sit there and think about myself, like, what could I have done differently to make sure that doesn't happen?
And you, I mean, you run a better lap.
Yeah.
But, you know, John Hunter might have been faster at that point.
But he gave, it was a pretty big lead at the White Flag.
Yeah.
So, but it was a good race.
I don't much rather prefer Cole win, but he's got one more shot this weekend, and I'm sure he'll be, I'm sure he'll be.
I'm sure it'll be hard to be, or not this weekend.
Yeah, Chicago.
We'll speed up.
I know we're dragging us out, Kristen.
Chrison's over there.
Yeah, time out.
You hear a caller shaking?
Spot on, spot off.
Smoke gets called to the NASCAR holler.
The holler, not the holler.
I mean, I'll go spot on.
I mean, there's a form of, or etiquette of handling situations like that,
and that probably wasn't the best way to handle it.
I go spot off just because what are they going to do in the hauler?
Tony, did you wreck him on purpose?
No.
Okay, great meeting.
See you.
Spot off.
Yeah.
Spot off.
Yeah, I mean, there's nothing.
What are you really going to solve?
Nothing?
So, yeah.
It's all optics.
Yeah.
Spot on, spot off.
Blaney possibly fine for not wearing gloves during practice.
Spot off.
It was throwback weekend.
Right.
Smoke a cigarette.
Smoking a cigarette, turn three.
I don't know if he should be.
fined for it, but they're definitely, I mean, there's a, there is a safety ass, but they've never
let anybody out there with any gloves. If they see that, they pull you in.
Why wasn't he wearing his glove? He just forgot. Yeah. Yeah, well, yeah, he said he was only
going to do it for the first couple runs, and then he was going to put him on, so he said he wanted
to see what it was intentionally. He said he was going to, he wanted to see what it was like,
but then his hands were, he knew his hands would get sweaty, so he wanted he was going to put
him on. But, I mean, it's not like, I don't know, what, spot. He said he did it.
Yeah, he did.
What an asshole.
I know.
All the things he could do.
I'm glad there's, I'm glad he's in, think, even thought about doing it.
You know, I want to go out here and be these guys.
That's cool.
Yeah.
Spot on, spot off, Harvick's pit crew.
Oh, my gosh.
How do we have, do we have to keep talking?
They're no different than anybody else.
You can't have perfect pit stops every time.
Spot off.
They gave the raceway.
I mean, they gave the opportunity to win away.
I mean, and I didn't get to pay a lot of attention to, to, to the,
pit stops in the night, but they certainly came off pit road far behind where they entered it
every time.
Yeah, but you've got to look at sometimes it's not stuff they can handle.
If a lug nut falls off or something, that stuff just happens, you know, things like that
happened.
So you can't really, you can't really just blame the whole pit crew.
What if a gun malfunction is or something?
Was Harvick irate, Josh, or was he chilling?
Oh, yeah, he was mad.
Yeah.
He was, like, quoted saying something about, you know, you guys.
get paid X amount of dollars to do your job.
Well, guess what?
He was also running the leader down when he hit the fence,
and he's paid a lot of money too.
Yeah.
I'm saying.
Compared to us, they are paid a lot of money.
That's a good point.
Yeah, if you do the ratio here,
he's way more higher.
He's way higher than anyone else on the team.
Yeah.
And he smacked the fence,
and I didn't hear anybody complain to him.
Yeah.
So.
Break time.
We'll be back.

All right, we're going into Fast Lane.
A quick overview of what Fast Lane is.
I'm going to give TJ a topic to, oh, that was a good sound effect.
Wow.
All right, you're done.
Go to those questions.
Should Richmond...
Nope.
Stop.
You're being a pain today.
More so than usual.
I don't always made it.
Yeah.
TJ, you're going first, ready?
Great.
Should Richmond be the last race of the regular season before the chase starts?
I'm always for a good short track race, so I like Richmond coast quarters.
racing, let's race them.
No, it shouldn't be.
It should be in the chase because it is a short track.
Darlington should be the last race before the chase.
Redo the schedule.
There's no reason.
We need less mile and a halfs in there and more short tracks.
So put it in.
South Boston should be the last race before the chase.
Is that the end?
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
We've seen several.
Great insight, TJ.
That was a good one.
Great answers, guys.
Yeah.
We've seen several.
penalties where teams are making body modifications during pit stops.
What is the ideal way to keep this from happening, Brett?
Man, we are seeing it more and more, more.
We've been seeing it.
We just haven't seen anything happen.
And now we're seeing NASCAR make these guys, A, come in and fix it,
and then B, give them a penalty on top of it.
The only way you're going to keep it from happening is to make the penalty be significant.
I'm talking five-lap or 10-lap penalties for this.
Yes.
Take them out of a chance to win.
I am all for what they're doing.
They did it to McMurray earlier this year.
They did it to Jimmy.
If they see something, you call it.
And you actually, you know, I'm going to tell you what, losing a lap even at that point,
you're going to think twice about this next time.
But I wish the race win penalties.
If you win the race and you don't pass, you don't win.
Yeah.
And that doesn't count for your chase win or anything like that.
You should not get the win.
The penalty as it is now, if you get the,
that one-lap penalty, TJ just referenced.
You can still win the race because you can get the lucky dog.
You can get the wave around.
You can be right back in contention.
But if you're penalized five laps, you're done.
Make them stop.
Kyle Larson and Ryan Newman failed post-race inspection.
Kyle is already locked in the chase.
How devastating could this be for Newman,
who is seven points behind the number one for a provisional spot in the chase
where 10 to 15 points point deduction is typical.
TJ.
This is huge at that point.
He needs every point he can get right now because there's one race.
left and now that's half a field.
Now he has to beat whoever he's racing there by half the field almost at some points.
I mean, you know, you take out the last eight or ten that are not really in contention.
And then he's got to finish basically top three and hope the other guys, 17th or worse.
I was actually texting McMurray after the race because he couldn't figure out how to get out of Darlington.
And I was trying to give him some backroads to be all right.
And he had shot me a note that, you know, he finished 15th.
Newman, you know, beat him, but he heard he failed inspection.
So I think this is a huge hit to Newman's chances.
I think there's no way he makes a chase now.
I think NASCAR has to hand down a penalty here.
McMurray's gap just gets bigger.
Yeah, that's, you know, it's just not a good time.
This is not the time where you want to be slap with a point penalty.
When you've got to make up ground and you're coming to the last race,
now he's got to, you know, now he's got to drive the race of his life.
and or take out his contenders.
In your opinion, who had the best throwback paint scheme in Darlington, Brett?
I thought we talked about this last week.
We did.
Josh, this is dumb.
Sorry, gosh.
I've got to go with who I originally said, which is Blaney, Pearson.
They had the five sticks of gum taped on the roll bar, just like Pearson did.
I actually bought the gum.
I ran into Eddie Wood at the convenience store Friday morning.
And I was like, man, throw your gum in with my waters.
I got you.
So, man, that was pretty cool.
I used to work at the Wood Brothers, and it was awesome.
Yeah, I don't know if I can narrow it down to one.
It was just, it was cool seeing that type of car, you know, them type of cars going around there with them schemes and stuff.
I thought it was a really good time.
And the, let's, one thing I want to mention.
The mustaches?
Does anyone want to talk about the must ask?
You must want to since you brought it up.
There were so many pervy moustaches.
Yeah.
How about the fans?
The crowd.
Yeah.
I mean, this is becoming an awesome event.
I think they're headed in the right direction.
So spot on, even though we're not in that segment.
Yeah, here's a bell.
Yeah.
We've already answered the question, but I'll take this 30 seconds to say,
there were points in the race.
I didn't know who the hell we were around because everybody's got different door numbers.
The font's different.
The color's different.
I'm like, where are we?
Okay, there I am.
Who's that behind me?
Like, they literally were points in the race.
I was lost.
So I'm glad we only do this once a year, but it was an awesome event.
Hats off to NASCAR, Chip Wild, Carrie Tharp, and all the guys at Darlington.
Off the wall topic.
Oh gosh.
Johnny Manzi is headed back to Texas A&M about to finish his degree.
Right.
Do you think this is a smart move for the former NFL quarterback, or is he putting himself back in a situation with a ton of temptation?
What kind of temptations happen at college?
I have no idea.
Yeah, I wonder why it's going back.
I mean, I don't, what's this guy's problem?
He doesn't even need to go there.
I've seen his party videos.
He's doing just fine.
Yeah.
I guess he just wants the whole college scene again.
Why not?
I mean, if you had all that money, you could, wouldn't you go back?
Yeah.
Why not?
I'd be 21 again right now.
What is the question?
Is he putting himself in a bad situation?
Every situation he's in as bad.
He just turns into a bad.
Yeah, I think he hands down can make the worst of this.
So this is going to erase him becoming clean.
Yeah.
which was like a couple months ago.
He was done, straightening up.
But that's fairbine college is clean.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Four years of clean.
I used to have a saying that there's a time and place for everything and it's called college
because you can do whatever while you're in school.
So real quick, off, well, speaking of college, I saw a pitcher.
It might have been at South Carolina.
There was like a condo where kids lived, a college kids, and on the roof was a pool.
A pool.
a huge TV.
It's called the hub.
A volleyball court.
Downtown Columbia, South Carolina.
Yeah.
It's called the hub.
It's, we got to sneak in there next time.
Why don't we?
Why do I sneak in?
Because they're not going to let mine and your old asses in there.
That's why.
Dude, it's called the hub, and it is like the coolest student housing on the plane.
They had everything on the roof.
I would have failed out had I live there.
Yeah.
Well, they probably do.
Or fell off one of them.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It was nice looking.
Yeah.
All right.
What do you got?
Go Cox.
We got some asked DBC questions.
Oh, I got something to tell you.
Oh, good.
So Elliot broke a record this weekend.
Oh, boy.
Nobody else will ever do what he's done.
Text messages?
No.
No.
He is the only driver in NASCAR history that can say they're in the inaugural sprint chase
and the inaugural Xfinity chase because he was in the other one.
Wow.
When it was only 10 teams, it was very tough to get.
get in to the 10-team deal.
And now he is, obviously,
an Xfinity chase with two wins, locked in.
So nobody else will ever do that.
How cool is that?
Wow.
There's your PR note, Josh.
Why is he not running the truck series this year?
You can only declare for one.
Unfortunately, we could have broken off.
But nobody else will ever, ever break that record.
That's crazy.
Y'all are welcome for me just spreading that knowledge.
He has also led more laps at the Darlington race
than in each of his past two Xfinity series.
Awesome.
Isn't that phenomenal?
Yeah.
So anyway.
Keep it rolling.
What you got?
Rolling.
At Camille Collins underscore asks, referring to Larson's burnout, what is bouncing
off the chip or running up the chip mean?
Well, the chip is for the motor so you don't over-rev the motor.
It's just so you don't ping vowels.
It's a motor thing.
It's nothing that there's nothing shady about that.
You can hear it.
A lot of people run chips to keep drivers from overdrive in the corners.
You'll hear them in Bristol sometimes.
Martinsville.
hear him a lot of Martin Zill. You'll hear Casey Mears bounce off that thing like six times
before he gets to turn one. So yeah, that's nothing new there. They just keep it from overroving
the motor. Still running the show, Kristen. Still running the show, Kristen, still your turn.
Plummer Dave won. I didn't know if you wanted to add anything. Chris, this is for you probably.
Plummer Dave won. Favorite beer or shot. Anything that won't kill me. Well, that's basically
everything, nothing, everything but water. So, man. My favorite beer, I had a jalapena IPA last
week downtown Charlotte it was really good but my favorite go-to beer is micklo
waltrow and coronalike you know because I just feel like with every slip you're just losing
weight diet beer favorite yeah that's how that works yeah favorite shot fireball fireball
yager fireball's good yager disgusting I just oh yeahger's not good it's great you just man I like
to start with a shot of yager and a mclope ultra and then you can just chill I'm not going to
lie I like so your favorite shots fireball that and Irish car
bomb. Is that really a shot? I'll kill you, dude.
That's college. I'm sorry.
What do you? Damn.
You gotta go be in the pool.
Yeah. It tastes like chocolate milk.
What's your favorite beer?
You still Stella? Yeah. I like Stella. I like Stella.
No. Kristen, beer. Which one?
I love IPAs. I can't drink him anymore.
They'll kill me.
Shot.
Not Yeager.
What is it? I'd rather do tequila.
Tequila. Straight up tequila.
I have memory loss.
If I do that.
Rent, you remember doing this?
That's like, now and I woke up naked.
Oh, we drank patrol, no wonder.
Josh, what's your beard shot?
Zima.
Zima.
Shot to Zima.
With Grenadine.
Jolly Rancher and Zima.
Josh is not.
Six foot six drinking his Zima.
All right, guys.
That's like an S&L skit.
Oh, no, that'd be funny.
He is not happy.
He is so angry at us.
Shot, Josh.
Buttermilk.
Yeah.
What's that shot?
Something nipple.
Buttery nipple.
Buttery nipple.
Can I get a zeme on a buttery nipple?
I'm a badass.
Watch this.
I'm going to pound it.
Josh is not having it.
We need to sit a fan of here again.
Oh, my God, man.
At Sir Sam's 51 asks, what body style cup car would you bring back for one race?
Oh, man.
I would bring back.
The 70s stuff.
Yeah, the fastbacks.
Yeah.
Big wing on the Plymouth.
Yeah, I would bring back some 70s, maybe early 80s,
somewhere in that, that vicinity.
Yeah, they had a lot of cool-looking cars.
My favorite part about those style of cars is how much air got under the car.
Oh, yeah.
Which just makes it less aerodependent, you know.
They were going slower, too, though.
I mean, they were doing, what do you think?
I don't even know what their top speeds were.
I mean, you look at Darlington.
They used to run 100, and now we're running 170.
Like, our cars are slammed on the car.
are slammed on the ground.
No air gets under them.
They can't get under them because of the splitter.
They can't get under them because of the side skirts.
So it just makes us go faster and faster and faster,
giving us that RL look and feel.
But, I mean, they look cool,
but I think the racing is cooler when you have air under the car
and you're moving around more and stuff.
Yeah, they got a wheel.
Now, I mean, you can't, we cannot run that fast
and get air under the cars now.
That, I mean, you stick your hand out the window at 25-mile an hour,
then go 75 and stick your hand out the wheel.
window and you'll see i mean it's a huge difference so we can't we can't be going as fast as we are
since we don't have but three questions i got i got a question for tj and actually i got one too
i thought we gotta help this guy here so so all right here's the deal you got to pick one spotter
to take a road trip 12 hour car ride you got no radio which one you take in and why myself
you got to pick another one oh you can't run by yourself in the carpool lane who you got so
how far is the trip 12 hours
No stops, no bathroom brakes, no nothing.
Does it have to be a current spotter?
I don't care.
Yes.
I would have, oh, man, I would have probably picked a brick house or Clayt.
Yeah.
Just because, God, I...
So who you got now in NY?
I would probably take...
This is a tough one, man.
Long trip.
You got to go with somebody that's going to be talkative and have some fun with.
Yeah.
So, I mean, I'll probably take you.
Why not?
Can we get, can we, can I have a roadie since you're driving?
I only drive halfway.
You drive the second half then.
Oh, man.
I just wondered who he takes.
So I'm honored.
Who's mine?
I love T.J.
to death.
I certainly would take him.
But Joel, who spots for now Brian Scott, he's a, he's a very cynical, just, just cynical guy.
and he can bitch about everything.
He can.
Politics, gun laws, NASCAR, the drivers.
So literally for 12 hours.
And he's funny about it, too.
I'm not sure I could take it for 12 hours.
It's kind of like Mitch Lash, friend of ours.
Like after an hour, I'm like, I'm on Mitch overload.
I need a 15-minute break here.
I'm done.
Like, I love a guy at death, and you love hanging out with him,
but you literally get so wound up with him.
You're like, all right, I've got to take a break.
I need a minute to gather myself.
I'll be back, you know.
So, hey, so this guy says, this guy tweets me and says, I'm maybe spotting my first sports
100 Lapper this weekend.
You got any advice for a beginner?
That's pretty big.
I mean, a guy going to spot his first race, maybe.
Yeah.
Watch ahead, man.
They're either wrecking in front of you, which matters, or wrecking behind you what doesn't.
Paint the picture, man.
Like you said, look ahead.
The paint the picture, too.
The more you can tell them, the more you can make them not look, the better off you'll be.
People think we stare at our car.
Yeah, I know.
We don't.
We look at our car.
We look to see if anybody's catching us.
I scan 25% of the track ahead of it.
You're scanning the whole time.
It's like fishing, surfing, swimming.
Yeah.
Just casting real, baby.
This guy wants to know if there were lines peter on the wall for the scoring loose.
Would it be easier?
No, it would just race.
That'd be more dangerous.
We got to talk about this chase, man.
Which is the end?
The cup chase.
Richmond is it.
I've already done.
I'm done with the chase.
You know, yeah.
You don't want to talk about it.
I'm done with it too.
I don't have anything to say about it.
There's a chase?
What chase?
Unless we get a miracle.
But looking at it, I mean, Newman's out.
Who else is out?
That's a big deal.
Blaney's out.
Where's it at, Josh?
Sheet on the back.
Oh.
Josh is providing us with data.
Casey Kane's out.
Austin Dillon's out.
No, Austin Dillon's in.
It's 16, yeah.
But if Austin's out.
has.
So really depending, regardless of the penalty to Newman, he's going to be the only guy
mathematically eligible.
So everybody's 17th and back's got to win.
I mean, yeah.
You know who I think has a chance to win this weekend?
Who?
Newman.
Amarola.
Why?
You just like saying his last name.
Watch the last two or three Richmond races.
It's got flies there.
Yeah, but I'm also going to.
How far out is he?
I don't matter if he wins.
Oh, that's right.
He's automatically in.
Yeah.
I'm going to say that's not going to happen.
The problem with him in there is he normally oversteps the line somewhere and gets...
He did that at Darlington and Clint took care of it.
He did.
I thought the Clint just got loose and came down to that quarter panel.
He got real loose.
He turned the wheel hard left and got real loose.
But he normally oversteps the boundary at some point.
He tries too hard and causes himself some sort of...
Clemsoning is what he's good at.
He's Clemson or Buffalo Billing, whatever you want to call it.
Oh, man.
But I think Newman will be, I think Newman will be a threat this weekend.
Luckily, this is not a terrible try for McMurray.
So he, but, you know, Austin has a little bit of trouble, man.
And Newman wins.
What happens there?
Yeah.
I mean, think about that.
Austin has trouble.
Newman's leading the race, and Austin is 28.
because he has a tire go down or something.
Yeah.
Pop, pop.
Oh.
100%.
Could be big.
100% roll.
Yeah.
Kristen, you still run the show.
No.
Run it.
What are you doing over there?
I don't know.
I think I'm.
Itching?
So we need to do Richmond predictions.
We are the champions.
My friend.
TJ has to take first.
Yeah, it sucks.
He's known for how many days did he's got to pick first?
We race.
Sunday. We did race Sunday. Monday's
day off. Monday's research day.
I spent all day yesterday figuring out
who I was going to take. Oh, you got? You already know. I'm going to
tell you who I got. And look who's winning.
The guy just said, Amarola.
That's who you're taking? Yeah, I thought
him last week. I'm making his life easy. I'm making his life
easy. Hey, I should get that
one back. You cleaned my dude out
here. That's totally not fair.
Sorry. I picked Almerola
here you guys trying to change the scoring again, Josh.
You can't, you out controlled the outcome of this.
He's a hunter name of church.
I'm giving you an advantage here.
I'm telling you my pick first.
I know, but it doesn't matter because I can't pick him.
I know.
I used him.
But I could have not told you who I was going to pick
and then you went soft or hard.
Like I'm telling you, I'm going Amarola.
I'm gambling, rolling a dice.
All right.
Rolling, rolling.
So Josh, are you going to add Bowman to this list when he runs?
You can pick Bowman.
I don't do this list, T.J.
One of your listeners does this list.
Well, you printed it.
I did print it so that you could have it.
I'm gonna
how many races
is 11 to go
let's start
let's bring out the heavy hitters
11 to go
let's uh
come on
let's go with um
cold wit
I'll go with newman
Ryan everything to prove
Newman
that's right if he's got one
that's a good one
you didn't phone in the nickname today
one race that he's got to do good
and it's this one
I got Eric Amarola by morning
by morning
from San Antonio
he might still be trying to get a turn to it
Darlington by morning.
Oh, my gosh.
Do you guys have anything in particular you want to shout about for the rant today?
What do you want?
How much time we got, Josh?
I don't.
We're doing good.
I don't want to rant.
I just want to say that, you know, the Dell Jr. thing is good for him.
That he's, first of all, he's blessing us with being public about it, right?
But it's obviously hard on his team.
It's hard on his friends.
It's hard on himself.
You know, when you look at the sport, it's hard on the sport because he affects the economics of our sport.
Nobody's really talking about that angle of it.
You know, some people are hinting about it.
But I just want to commend him for being so brave with the decisions he's making and for just sharing it with all of us.
Because he doesn't have to share what he's sharing.
So kudos to him, man, for keeping everybody alert and alive and telling us what's going on.
He's our Tiger Woods.
He's our big deal.
So he's handling it great.
yeah you're you're right i mean i don't nobody's really talking about it but we'll see how it goes
and and uh he's you can't handle it more you know i think uh you if you sit back and see how he's
handled the whole situation and how um he's handled any adversity in the last few handful years he's
done it with nothing but uh set a prime example for anyone to follow when you get in situations
like that so yeah um i was thinking about it last week and i think i think i tweeted about it one
time when I said I was very proud and honor to have Caldell Jr.
One of my best friends because he raises the bar when it comes to being a great role model
leader. He's done that. Yeah, he has. He has.
Anyway, what do you got to rant about, Kristen?
I got nothing. I'm just a happy individual.
Hey, we got a special guest next week.
We do have a special guest.
He special. Special. We got cleared by NASCAR.
So, NASCAR official Jason Brownlett.
I don't know a lot of people or shows that get the,
privilege and honor to have a NASCAR
Fish alone. God, what are we going to ask him?
We need to just grill him.
So I think he's going to do like the whole show
with us, kind of like Krista. Yeah, so we'll get his
perspective on, other than the fact that he's a Georgia Bulldog
fan, he and I are good friends, so. Go dogs.
Yeah. Harura.
He'll be cool to have him on next week.
Josh, you want to rant about anything? I'm good.
All right. So you're going, you've got a big weekend
coming up.
Josh is going to go, Hope.
He's going to drink a lot of Zimas.
Yeah, he's going to drink a lot of Zimas at the Tennessee game in Bristol.
Yeah.
Yeah.
To battle at Bristol.
Yeah.
You're going to hope for a better performance for your team.
I am.
Man, I don't, I think you'll beat Virginia Tech.
I hope so.
You're coming off a loss.
You play terrible.
You'll beat Virginia Tech.
But still got the win.
So hopefully that was the.
I got Tennessee by two touchdowns.
I would just take the win.
I don't care how we get it.
Yeah.
Where are you sitting in a suite or stand?
Stans.
Yeah.
On the race track.
Oh, cool.
So last night, I thought Ole Miss had that game wrapped up.
Me too.
And they somehow gave it away.
I tweeted it was over and then it wasn't over.
No.
Yeah.
I'll tweet that Virginia Tech's going to win, Josh.
Yeah.
You'll be fine.
How mad do you think Stenhouse was?
Because I think he traveled to that game and went down there for it.
Dude, he's happy.
Because, I mean, I know you're upset.
Your team loses, but college football, the environment is so awesome.
I've never been to a college game.
I still need to go.
Man, I took Billy O.
At all.
Ever?
Billio spots for Menard, and I took him to his first game, and he was like, oh, my God.
The pregame is amazing.
The game atmosphere is amazing.
The post game is fun.
It's just, for me, it's 10 times better than a pro game.
Yeah, and so I'm going up this weekend.
The Pitt Penn State game is the first time they've played as rivals for 20 years,
and we play in a Hines Stadium.
That's going to be cool.
And from Hines Stadium, you can see PNC Park and see all.
all three rivers, and it's an amazing experience.
That's awesome.
Forget if they serve alcohol.
That's going to be fun.
Yeah, I bet they will because of a neutral sight.
Neutral site, you can.
One thing I want to talk real quick about is, so there's this woman that makes a lot of movies
and she's pretty popular.
And a lot of athletes seem to tweet her, and she just totally calls them out from direct messaging her.
Apparently she is a Florida state fan.
and the Ole Miss quarterback has DMed her on Twitter.
And so she tweets last night, you know.
Who is the lady?
Mia Khalifa.
So she tweets last night.
Is she hot?
Kind of.
She's spend more time in your playbook and less time of my DMs.
And then she screenshots it?
And then she screenshots it and posts it.
Oh, my God.
Add me on Snapchat.
I only following you for some.
and old recon to find your weaknesses before the game.
Oh, yeah, ha-ha, you're funny.
What do you think of a show?
Weakness one.
Can't resist her just to slide into DMs of girls out of his league.
Oh, my gosh, she's got some confidence.
Dude, she made it public.
She's done this like three or four times, like NFL players even.
Yeah.
So.
That's hilarious.
Do not slide into her DMs because she's going to slide you right on the public
Twitter line.
That's funny.
Oh, gosh.
I thought that was pretty funny.
She's going to show yours?
She's going to tour yours.
I hope not.
Dang.
Geez.
All right, we're off to Richmond.
Yeah, Richmond, it is.
200 degrees this weekend.
How?
Place where JRM dominated the spring race.
Dale Jr.
dominated.
Maybe Elliot Sadler goes back-to-back.
Home town win.
That'd be cool.
Last race there, Justin Allgaier, pretty much had it won.
He had it won.
He screwed up the restart.
He was three-wide and didn't necessarily know it.
Yep.
And then he was wrecked.
And then we had all had sandwiches.
Yep.
We had all mayonnaise sandwiches.
Yeah.
So I love mayonnaise.
Is that weird?
I mean, does it give you hives?
Nope.
Then it's not weird.
I love mayonnaise too.
Alex Bowman in the number 88 J.R.M.
Cessna.
That'll help him a ton on the cup side because he's getting that track time and he's getting
to practice a little.
Here's the thing that people don't talk about when these guys just get in the car.
The little things are restarts, getting on the pit road, getting in your pit box, getting out of your pit box.
getting out of your pit box, you know, the restarts, all that stuff.
You can't do it if you don't do it every week and do it well.
So that's a good practice for you guys.
He was really faster last time, too.
Yeah.
From what I remember in, he'll be, you know, Alex is good.
I mean, I've enjoyed work on ice.
I'm looking forward to it, so it should be fun.
All right, I think we're, all right.
I'm going to go feed the dog.
Thanks to all.
I'm going to live dogs out.
Staff meeting.
Thanks to one main.
Like Zalta.
Yeah, Alta.
Don't get an infection.
