The following is a production of Dirty MoVee.
Is this the first time you've read the fucking sheet all year?
A bird's shit on my head.
That is what reaction theater is for.
Getting hammers and calling in.
Where did they speak?
Go.
I don't know.
Wax and Crescent.
It's going to be gripped up.
Absolutely.
It's two idiots.
Bubba did not do shit, unfortunately.
Period.
Period.
Hey, what's up everybody?
Welcome back to Doorbubber Clear.
I am Freddie Crafts.
Spotted for Bubba Wallace and Dean Thompson this week.
Thomas.
Dean had a good day.
Dean had a good day.
We got damaged from that pit road disaster.
But yeah, he came back and just kind of took what the car gave him.
He was doing Dean things, man.
All year long, buddy, just 12th to 10th to 15th is kind of where we live.
And, you know, we can get a little bit ahead of that sometimes, a little bit below it.
But that's kind of just, they had of trouble.
And you find yourself in the right spot at the end of these races.
Bubba doing Bubba things this time of year.
Yeah, well, you know, 14th, bud.
Yeah, nice.
Dude, it was fast.
It was fast.
How was your weekend?
Oh, it's good, man.
This rain.
Me and Tommy got to hang out for like three days straight in the rain.
Hot.
Got the car, I thought, pretty good.
And lasted eight laps.
We're arguing you and I all day and all night about whose fault it was.
Multiple incidents.
You're only seeing one little thing.
I've seen the whole picture.
So you got your vision.
I got my vision.
We're going to leave it to that.
But the Stoke.
Stoke.
car was a pretty good old, I guess, for three days.
It's coming along.
It's a good program.
We got a lot of building to do.
I got a lot of work to do in the next couple weeks.
Yeah, let's go.
Come on.
I'm great.
What a weekend.
What a race?
What two races?
Yeah, we had two really good races on Sunday.
It was really good.
I've seen, was, who, T.J. and Connor getting into it?
I see a little clip of that.
Oh, man.
You have some hard racing?
Well, I feel like.
I, and this is, I don't know, maybe Tommy, I'm sure you'll probably maybe see it differently because you like to disagree with me.
But I feel like Connor set the tone for how they were going to race.
Like I think TJ took it for a long time before he kind of started giving it back.
And even still took him a while to give it back the same way Connor was.
And then at that point, like I feel like Connor set the tone for how they were going to race.
And then the DJ just followed that.
Yeah.
And so.
Yep, exactly.
Yeah, I haven't seen a lot of incidents.
I got to break up another fight.
I saw you right in the middle of it again.
Luckily you and TJ are probably eye to eye
and that stuff.
And I wouldn't be trying to fight TJ
so we're good.
But I mean I've seen a lot of instances
one of the guys in that
and I haven't seen a lot of incidents
with the other guys so it's not hard to really
usually tell.
She pretty much hit her.
Welcome back. TJ majors.
Yeah.
Had you here once last year.
I've seen some people talking about getting the band
back together.
Does this junior know Daddy's here?
I don't know.
Did you do it?
This is a, this is a true.
worried about it. He's not up yet anyway.
Does he still get up like at noon? No, he gets up early.
Well, I mean, back in the day, he was a, oh, I, yeah.
He didn't even know it was two tens in a day.
Got kids now. He got kids in school. Lunch was breakfast.
Yeah.
Pretty good day yesterday, man. I thought you were in position. You know, you kind of had
the lead there for the whole second half of the race it felt like. And then obviously just
them cautions probably burned you guys at the end, I would assume.
Yeah, I don't, we didn't expect all the guys to pit.
after we stayed out.
And we're going to try to go the distance.
We thought maybe most of the field would,
because with a few yellows or a couple of yellows,
you can make it on fuel,
and we thought everybody would try to do that.
And then all but like six or seven cars pit,
and that was,
we didn't need a lot of yellows.
So it was worth a shot.
Yeah.
And I thought, you know,
our car had good speed, actually.
You know, like we're pretty fast once we were up there
and in the clean air.
And Brad was being aggressive and race.
He was fun.
Yeah, it seemed like a good race for Bullens.
you know he kind of you guys I'm assuming you guys pit early in that first stage right at some point
the first stage you had to the pit that's what kind of flipped you to the front and then you kind of
just maintain that for almost the rest of the day it seemed like yeah Brad asked how the car you know
how he thought we stacked up against others and you know you can just kind of tell when your car is
good and when it when it turns good in in situations other cars are in the corner like you compare
yours against others and Brad could keep turning past the center and keep drive on the exit and
we could get inside a guy and I'm like Brad I think you're pretty good like you know you could
just see it and we ended up being pretty strong so it's a fun day. Tommy, what a fucking mess.
This race turned out to be, I mean, we're talking 18 cautions. It was almost four hours long.
I mean, what, what do you think played the biggest factor?
This is why I'm glad to try it if we were wrong, because we weren't out of that.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, if you really paid attention to beginning the first amount of cautions were the guys
that were out of control and practice and qualifying the day before, they were hard.
horrible.
Yeah.
Right?
So they were just,
they were all back.
Why do you think they're so out of control?
I don't know.
I just think,
I mean,
that place is pretty hard.
I mean,
to figure out,
I just think they just came wrong.
You know,
those guys would just,
they were a second off in practice.
And it was like,
man,
come on,
let's get all shit together.
And the other stuff
that surprised me is the Ford,
the Ford's with the brake issues.
They,
it's usually the Toyoters,
right,
that have the brake issues.
And,
yeah,
I mean,
it's,
it was,
It was different.
I think it was very unexpected for the Ford camp to have these problems.
And, you know, I know Elliot had an issue late in a race as well, but gosh, it was a rough one, man.
You know, we talked about this.
One thing I want to talk about with this race track specifically, if it's going to stay in the chase,
we really need to fix two things about this place.
The access road, coming to pit road, or the width of pit road.
Because what happens is, DJ, as you know, like a lot of the racetrackers,
we're just rolling through three and four,
we kind of get away from each other.
You got a little bit of separation as you rolled the line.
That access road leads us,
we saw a bad on Saturday night.
That all access road leads us to being on top of each other,
coming around a corner.
And then you got that really narrow pit road.
So if you have an issue,
now it just bottles up, you know,
and it's just a chain reaction.
Yeah.
And the other thing I wanted to talk about with you specifically is
this may be the worst spotter stand we go to now.
Yeah, it's like someone asked what it was like there.
It's a grandstand.
Yeah, we're in the grandstands.
They're like, so how is the exit of four really bad?
Like basically like top row of the grandstands?
Yeah, we're standing up there with the fan.
We're literally top row.
We're standing.
There's other fans right next to standing up.
Oh, shit.
But they're like, hey, the exit of four is really about.
I'm like, exit of four is not, it's bad, but not like turn one's like a mini polono.
Yeah.
That's what I told Bubba coming green.
I said, turn one is Pocono.
Yeah, it is.
Just treat it like Pocono.
Where Pocono, I can't see shit.
And it's just there, you're so low, so close to the racetrack that you're just imagining, imagine
standing down and turn four
to any racetrack in the grandstands
and looking at turn one.
You can't tell if a guy's
half back, one back, you know?
Oh, you can't tell.
And the problem with that even worse
than Pocono is you can generate
like Pocono, we're all kind of going the same speed.
You can't like, nobody's going to lift early.
Another guy going to bomb it in there.
Like so like there was numerous times yesterday
where I'm like, you're clear by half inside.
You know, panic because like I said they just
Bubba maybe either backed his entry up or the next guy
decided he wanted to go in a little deeper.
And you can't see.
see anything. So, I mean, if we're, and that's, I think, why we saw, I feel like a lot of the
issues were down at that end of the racetrack and one and two, you know, off a two.
Well, I mean, most of the beginning cautions were off of four, right?
Well, Riley's first one was off of four. And Stenhouse's and it was on the backstress,
I think we only had like two and off a four in front of us all day. Yeah. It's just, but it's so,
I can't tell you how hard it is. You can't, you can't, you can't, you can't comfortably
clear your guy. No, no, no. I mean, they definitely going to have to build either that or not make
that access road a speed limit, but it's still going to jam people up. I mean,
I don't know if you can do a lot. My theory on it is why don't, where the pit wall starts,
why not just make the pit road a little wider, you know, make it another car length wider
and just take away some of the inside, you know, go back out, come out of the front stretch out
toward, you know, from inner to outer. First of all, like the biggest thing I think they need to do
is get the fire right with the cars on the backstress before.
the race.
No shit.
I mean,
it was,
we were,
you guys get sunburn
with it?
It's hot.
The ground shakes
when it goes off,
you can feel.
Are they the big fire?
Yeah,
the fireballs that they do at
World Finals?
So we're trying to take a picture
before the race and the cars
are all in the backs of,
we're all like ready.
We're all like tensed up waiting for it and then.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Last year it went off like they were in two.
When they were in the backstress.
Well,
no, last year they were just getting in the backstretched and it went off
before any cars got to it.
This year the whole field went past it and then it went off.
Somebody forgot to hit the button as we rolled down a back straight way.
I told Brad the batteries were dead in the remote when they went to hit it.
I saw Chase and Trey were talking about in Trey.
Chasing, ain't got no gas in it.
Like that damn movie.
But yeah, like this, for me, that was the biggest thing for me for that place was that was the hardest race to spot.
Just because you can't tell.
You're guessing, especially, of course, every restart, you're three, four, wide, whatever it is in a one.
And you're trying to, and it's the same thing as Pocono.
where not only can you not see, but now
nobody can see, so you're all leaning out
over the railing, trying to look, so I'm looking at the back
of Drew Herring's head half the time, or
he would lean late, and I'm like, oh, shit, now I've got
to readjust, but... I'm up to the point
where I might bring a second guy
there. Put it, like, a turn one polka,
like, you bring a second guy sometimes. I think there's
like, there's a, there's a roof there. We just
got to figure out how to use it. Like, have you ever
spotted from that roof? No, I'm saying it's
what's up there now. Can we have this
is directly... This is directly...
Directly, door bumper clear.
Yeah.
I've been to that.
These guys are just talking.
We've spotted from that other roof.
She's literally a spotter show.
Yeah.
I mean, it is.
I mean,
we have taken about the grand sale.
We go to turn one.
Well,
we have something.
They need something different up there
because what they have up there
isn't going to work for us.
But like,
if they can build.
It was tight.
Something that we have like a Darlington,
which is not great either.
Door bumper architecture.
Yeah, I will tell you.
I mean,
It's pretty tight with you guys.
I'd rather be that.
I'd rather that and can see.
Listen.
I'd like to see Freddy's fat ass on the Florence spotter stand.
You see how tiny that thing is.
As long as I'm not up there with him, I'd like to see it.
I've been up there.
No.
The spot?
Yeah.
You know what scares me.
You didn't spot.
I don't need the spot.
I was standing there.
What the hell's the difference?
Standing there doesn't, no.
Do you know what scares me about that?
We had them split last year.
They were all on the same.
Well, I would hope so.
Freddie is not exercising.
You should.
You know the guys that go over where the spotter sand is.
And there's like a little concession stand or something.
below it and they sit on the ledge.
And your legs are just swinging
in front of the position. And some of the
guys that I saw doing it, that place is not
That's pretty old. I don't know how to describe
Probably the wood that's holding them up, but it's probably
aged. Oh, it's nice. Don't mess with Florence.
No, I love Florence, but I'm just saying I don't
would be sitting on that roof. Yeah.
Would you jump up and down on a roof? Oh, now you guys are fucking architects, huh?
Like me, what are you doing here? Yeah, we are.
Hey. Yeah. Freddie, we wouldn't make it on the roof.
It was Tommy.
With all the stuff we have now, like, I mean, 10 years ago, it was fine because we didn't even, we had a fan vision.
Didn't even know any better.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was fine.
It was something.
Talk about that pit road incident, though.
I don't really know that it was anybody's fault.
I think a couple guys just kind of got stacked up trying to get to their box and one guy going around another guy and there's not enough room to get out of the way when you're slowing down to get in your box.
It really, really was the, it's not the one's fault, but he was leading.
Oh, it's your fault.
No, no, he was leading, and he was in the, hold on.
No, hold on.
He was in the last stall.
So the guys that had to go kind of around him the pit were the ones that had to slow down a little bit.
Wait, no, we were in stall one.
Yeah, whatever.
Who was in the last stall?
I don't know.
Oh, 17.
I don't know.
I'm sorry.
Yeah, 17 was, I mean, you guys are.
17 probably.
He was in the back.
He was towards the back.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
You've been hanging out with your granddaughter.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
Check his blood pressure, please.
Dude, I'm so pissed.
The cuff didn't show up.
The 17's there.
Early.
Everyone had to go, like,
stop a little bit,
stop a little bit.
If you look closely,
I don't know who it was
in the middle of the pit road.
I don't know who it was.
It was a white car.
Someone hit him as he was pulling.
That guy did a,
he got almost sideways
and got into it.
I mean, it's just,
it's just narrow.
It's got to be looked at.
But for one guy to like,
what I thought I saw was
maybe,
maybe Swalach went to turn in and maybe he didn't see his sign right or he went to turn in then stopped a little bit and then kind of wasn't sure in that split second of wait a minute the guy behind him had to check up a little bit because he wasn't like all the way out of the lane and you know the guy behind him's not going to not the left front headlight out of it so as soon as one guy checks up you know it's it's going to be it's bad I asked Brad what do you think would have happened one of them late resource where we were leading because we were going early in the box all night what do you think would have happened
happen if we went at the end of the box.
Oh, we would have, I think you'd get killed.
We'd have, there would have been like a 15-carb pile up in the front stretch.
It was, yeah.
At the end of the day, at Pitt Road, I hope everybody understands.
They came inches from being really, really, really.
Oh, my gosh, yeah.
And it definitely needs to be looked at and fixed.
I mean, Indy's a little bit of an issue, too.
I mean, don't, there's been people spinning out.
There have been.
They have been.
They need to look at not only there, but Indy as well a little bit.
Longstalls help guys get in where they're,
not as worried about getting stopped on a sign.
They got more play with moving the sign front and back, you know, forward and back.
But, like, there's just nowhere to go.
Yeah.
And it's the problem.
If you get a little bit lost, you can't get out of the way.
You know what I mean?
It's hard.
And then once that happens, it's, that was, you know, we were just all wrecked.
Yeah.
Everybody was tore up there.
I was like, I'm watching on TV.
I'm like, is that a pile up at the end of the bedroom?
I looked back there and I was like, what is going on?
So who was, were you guys up there yelling for the red flag or how does it?
So that was...
How did you come about?
I don't know what was going on because it should have...
What I don't understand is if we have a bad wreck on the racetrack, instantly, we go red, right?
Well, we had a bad wreck on pit road with guys laying on the ground and we're still yellow.
Like, we're all stopped.
We're still yellow.
They're like, all right, get through there if you can.
And nobody can move because I think Harrison was in the outside wall and like the 88 or somebody was...
And Sanchez was like turned to the left.
And the thing that kind of pissed me off a little bit, but, you know,
I'd say that in this building, but the 88's got a bunch of damage.
Well, he is able to, he's on the other side of the wreck.
So he's able to back up, get to his stall.
Well, now we're still yellow.
They stopped the pace car down the backstretched at least.
Yeah.
But we're still yellow.
And the 88's just working away fixing this car.
And we're all piled in back here.
And it took, I don't know, it felt like minutes before they said,
I'll put the red out.
So then the 88 stopped working.
And they did do their best to once they got it unclod.
We all got to drive to our pit stalls.
They kept the back, the pace car back there.
but for the moment I was like what the
like you can't know why are we not red there's guys laying
on the ground there's a pile up down here
like throw the red flag and it seemed like it took
longer than it should have but they did
do their best to try to rectify it where
they let some of us work on our cars
and then you know they probably gave us an extra 30 seconds
before they started moving the pace car
oh that was more than that it was like two minutes
I couldn't I don't know how long they tried to like they tried to
work with them wasn't like they you know they didn't
screw anybody I don't think the 88 just got a little
extra time to work on theirs.
He had probably four, I mean, it was, it was minutes and minutes.
It was probably DVP time.
Yeah, it was a while.
To my, you know, under my, to me, if you stop the pace car, you got, you just, everything's
got to be red flag because you're just giving other guys advantages that, that others
aren't getting the same opportunity.
So to me, you got a red flag until everyone can start going at the same time.
But that was a unique scenario.
A little bit, it was probably like disbelief.
Like, yeah, what the hell is, yeah?
We've never been in that situation before.
What should we do to do it?
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
So it's like.
Credit to them for getting us stopped in the back that quick because that's not long.
I mean, my first, my first thought was like, it's still yellow.
It's still yellow.
All these guys are going to lose a lap for no reason.
I mean, it's like, holy shit.
Then red flag, I was like, oh, okay.
Yeah.
They did stop the pace car in the middle of the back stretch instantly.
So they realized we don't want to trap all these guys laps down.
But then the fact that they left it yellow and let people work was.
The way those cars were sitting on pit road, you knew it was going to take some cleanup.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, so just red flag it and let everybody have the same chance.
Hey everybody, this is Dale Jr.
And for the latest DBC gear, go to shop.dirtymoadmedia.com.
We've added some new shirts.
There's one called win or lose.
We're drinking booze.
Everything seems to be about drinking here at Dirty Mo Media.
Go check it out now.
Kyle Larson wins.
I mean, this guy, he should be sending us the whole fucking family.
Yeah.
It doesn't lose races anymore.
I mean, he won.
Since he agreed to.
He agreed to it like the Sunday morning of Iowa.
Since he agreed to it, he hasn't lost
a dirt race. Owen's got
two or three wins. Audrey's got two or three wins.
He's now on a cup race.
She's flying on a plane now, not even driving
to motor home anymore. I mean, there's so many good things
going on. I saw a video of dumping the shitter tanks the other day
over the weekend, and I was laughing about Kyle's comment where he says
she only videos when she drives.
Yeah, we'll talk about, we'll talk about some more Kyle.
But I want to talk about Saturday Night's race.
Jesse Love wins the race. But I thought that was a really,
I mean, I know you didn't get the best, better end of it.
But that battle at the end there, just two guys racing the shit out of each other.
Him and Carson for the lead.
I know he got in the back of you guys a little bit.
But it was fun to watch, I feel like, because we, you know, we talk about here a lot, the O'Reilly race.
Better than that shit we had on Saturday in the pro race, for sure.
Yeah, I would agree with that.
Yeah.
Like, that was like textbook, how to do it.
Yeah, I don't, I mean, I wasn't really happy with how it ended.
But it's still, like, at this point of the year, you just want solid.
You want, we had solid state.
I'll take a fifth.
That's, that's, we are, we've cut the lead to the, the, we've cut the gap to the lead in half and two races.
And when you are racing guys, like, you know, to me the biggest threat still is Justin Halleyer.
He's been the fast, he's been fast all year.
You know, there's, I think some people have slept on Carson a little bit because there's some races that, like the first Phoenix race, that was, Carson should have won that race.
Carson was leading the first Atlanta race before Corey
blew a tire
I'm not sleeping on him
well there's like in the second Atlanta race
two of those wins Justin got the second Atlanta
I mean I feel like 39 runs out of gas behind Carson
he should have won that one as well so
Carson could have two or three wins here
you know I guess I need to do a better job
yeah what's what are you doing?
I mean there is a pattern Brad
I mean I average in Gateway was pretty good
and turning the Loweck face.
So, no, like, we're doing exactly what we need to do.
Carson has been a sponge for, since I've been working with him,
and everything's finally starting to click.
He's getting some consistency with Rodney.
Rodney is learning him, learn how to, how to, you know.
But you also got to remember it was going to have to take Rodney a little bit more time
to get back to these cars of what's, what's being done in the strategy of the O'Reilly's
races versus the cup races.
It's like, that's what I said a couple of weeks ago, two, three,
weeks ago. I said, it's time. I mean, now to going back to all these places that they've
already been to, Rodney already understands, you know, the setups of what went on. He's applying his,
he's able to apply his notebook to him now. And then the kids getting better and better each week.
I mean, I still think he's, he's the champion. I'll tell you, man, like, he's at my house
every week. We're on the sim a couple times a week. Like, Carson pushes. And I appreciate that from my
side of things because you want to work with drivers that push and want the knowledge, you know,
want to go over and work. You know, he, like, he comes over every week and we just, we sit down
and watch the race, not only on just video, we watch on SMP, what moves guys make. Like,
there's so many times race where I tell Carson that, you know, just like we looked at the other
night, remember that line? He knows exactly. He is a sponge and he is getting better going back
to these places now. He is just able to apply more. Roddy knows what Carson needs. Carson knows how to
tell him what he needs, and it's just like clicking.
Yeah, it just took time for everyone to get their ground.
Nine points back.
Yep.
Sitting third.
Sheldon Creed, now the point leader.
Who would ever thunk?
Yeah.
But it's early.
But again, yeah.
But he's doing experience, man.
I mean, he's got an experience doing this stuff.
What's scary about that is Sheldon, his win at Darlington really, like, I know he won
Atlanta, but his win at, he won Atlanta, right?
Yeah.
His win at Darlington was the.
Yeah.
Like that solidified.
You got four guys now, don't you think?
That is, yeah.
Well, and they're all the top four within 16 points of each other.
Like, that's...
It's got to be, for him, it's got to be like, okay, I'm here now.
Like, I can win.
I just want Dorinton and now he's running up front.
Confidence, right?
Yes, his confidence is going up.
And that's scary at this time of the year.
This is, I mean, guys like, I kind of said it earlier this year,
Justin was hot in the beginning of the year.
And you don't...
That's almost too early to hit your stride, you know?
And these guys that are figuring,
it out right now that has speed.
And it just, you know how it is in racing.
So you don't know what you're really doing different, but everything just clicks.
I mean, you go and, like, Carson hasn't had a poll in his career and then he gets two in a row, you know, so.
I think it was interesting.
I looked at, like, the difference, you don't anticipate a lot of difference between owner points and driver points.
Justin's still leading the owner points.
So I was like, how is that possible?
Because he's three down in driver points, two up and owner points.
I'm like, how is that?
I'm assuming I still haven't confirmed this.
Creed must have finished a spot lower in owner points
versus driver points at the end of the regular season
and it's a five point difference
and that's the difference in
swinging the deal so but it's fun
to watch because that's what really I mean Tommy
the owner points is what pays right
I mean that's or is it different now
I'm not sure in an O'Reilly's
I know Cup is all owners and I know the truck
is 50 50 I think
I'm not sure how I don't know
I think it's owners and it's
it's a bit it's it's it's it's
It's fun to watch that because there's a lot of different,
especially in O'Reilly and Truck,
there's a lot of different guys in the playoffs that you don't even know.
It's the trucks that we're going to have to really start talking about,
letting the fans know what's going on, I think.
Because I think the playoffs are half different.
It's like half the field is different in the two chases.
The trucks have been off for like, ever.
Don't get Tommy started on the trucks.
Don't get Tommy started.
I'm going to need that blood pressure cuff if we do.
All right, anything else from the weekend?
I saw Sophie Cunningham was there.
Yeah, I saw that.
Did you get to meet her?
I didn't see her.
I didn't get to be.
Poor girl had to, I saw her dealing with Noah at one point.
I can only imagine the things that came to out of Mount Noah's mouth.
I saw her, she was talking to MJ on pit road.
Ten bucks and Noah's at one of her games in the next one.
You want to bet?
I would not take that bet.
The Corey Day fans can finally relax.
They announced his multi-year deal at Hendrick.
He's not going anywhere.
He is going to be an aspire car next year at some point.
He keeps running in his hollow.
She ain't going to be.
to next year.
God,
almighty.
I did see there were some talk about whether he was going to be in a spire car or a
Hoss car. Hendrik came out and said he's going to be in a spire car for a handful of race
next year.
Corey's got a long-term future with Hendrick, whether it's in a Hendrick car or at Spire.
Rick's going to be paying Corey for a long time.
And I think that, you know, he's part of their future plan.
So it's good to see that.
Carson, you go into the race this week?
No, it's my birthday this weekend.
Is that why?
I thought maybe because, you know, Brad Pitt was the grandma,
Is he too old for you?
Yeah, maybe.
I'd be more, yeah, yeah.
You'd be more into what, Sophie Cunningham?
Maybe.
That's exactly what I was thinking of this.
Maybe.
With the way these men have been disappointing me, you never know.
No, that is cool, though.
Johnny Morris and Brad Pitt.
Doesn't get more American than that?
Yeah, nothing's ever changed.
Who disappointed you recently?
We don't have enough time for that.
We got to get a spot on spot off.
I just go quick shoutouts for the races.
Kyle C.
he got a good run the other night.
He finished ninth.
Jeff Burton got 10 grand for finishing 10th from his sponsor, Bommerito.
I thought that was a pile of cash.
I was like, that's my man.
I thought that was pretty good.
And then yesterday, awesome Dylan had a good run.
He finished 6th.
And I would say the guy's name to finish 7th.
He had a good day too, but fuck him because he screwed us over on a guest this morning.
So we're not even talking about him.
Who did finish 7th?
Connor.
Oh, that's right.
Connor's dumb ass.
forgot to add his DVC day to his schedule.
And then his team booked up.
somewhere else this morning.
So him and his dad,
we're supposed to be here
to hang out for a little while.
I thought it was going to be a fun show.
But Connor,
Connor,
we got to everybody.
Now we got TJ.
Yeah, yeah.
Don't make it look so bad.
Nobody wants to hear from TJ.
I would just like to hear from Connor's dad,
honestly.
I thought you were going to win yesterday,
and I'm like,
this DVC bump here.
Yeah.
Well,
if we win Bristol,
which Brad's good at Bristol.
And you have a good chance.
Yeah, Brad's good at Bristol.
Hopefully the tires,
we have to change tires a lot.
That'll be better for us.
Yeah.
TJ Quick, games coming out this week.
No, and Ascar, 26, I guess it is.
I know you're the second best spotter in the game.
But that's going to be fun, man.
Those guys are fun to work.
We're talking about last week with Jamie.
Yeah, and it's hopefully going to be, you know, hopefully they listen to me and not so much, I don't know.
Hopefully that.
Yeah, you get to pick.
Yeah, but so I don't know.
Can we do a poll?
Can we find out?
We can probably ask.
But last year, this guy, right after the game came out, like a couple weeks into it,
this Australian guy,
did you see the video?
No,
this guy's driving and just cussing the spotter.
Like,
he's cussing me.
And he's like,
Pitt guy,
leave me alone.
And like,
first of all,
he's driving from the bonnet view.
And I'm like,
that's a mistake already.
Like,
come on.
And he's hitting the,
he's running Bristol.
And he's hitting the wall
every time he exits the corner.
And he's yelling at me to like stop cleared him or not clear.
Like,
like he's hitting everything you can hit.
And he's just,
it's like all your drivers.
Yeah,
actually.
It reminded me a spot for Dale Jr. at times.
I'm sorry.
Can you say that?
Oh, anyways.
He's not here.
Anything else from the weekend?
Are we ready for?
I did want to say, we talked about Elizabeth a little bit before the race,
a little before the show.
I thought it was really cool that the racetrack opened the gates and let the fans out on the front straightaway.
I don't know that I've ever seen that before.
Yeah, that is cool.
Well, how did it happen?
I mean, look, I mean.
What do you mean?
Hold on to say.
Hold on a second.
They walked down the stairs.
Hold on a second.
I'm clapping for Carson Hosevar.
I'm sorry.
I know you're going to have a little debate with this, but his marketing and media strategy
all week led, hold on, hold on.
When I woke, when I, when I, you know I'm here, right?
Whenever, whenever I seen that, when I seen that picture of the crowd on the front stretch
and him being the only driver there, which now I don't know if he's the one that asked the
track to open the gate so we can sign. But that reminded me of the old days. I mean, I was telling you guys,
you know, in the 70s, early 80s, when these guys used to travel and come to all these short tracks,
that's what it was about. That's how the fan base was built, right? And to see that, I was like,
man, I don't know who planned that. I don't know if it was Phil, because I seen him there.
I mean, who knows? But, you know, but kudos to whoever did that.
that that was incredible.
Yeah.
I mean,
and that's what we talked about last week.
Obviously,
I went on a little bit of a rant about phony and not phony.
I don't think that's phony.
No.
I think that's,
you know,
I think he wants to sign autographs.
I think he wants to be,
you know,
he wants to engage his fan base.
That's 100%.
That you're finally seeing what I think is a version of Carson that is real.
You know,
it's just,
you know,
some of the stuff,
it's like you look at it.
And other things drive me crazy.
Like his post about like,
don't push the kids out of the way.
like at the windows or whatever.
It's like, no shit, Carson.
Yeah.
Is anybody for that?
But I think after yesterday, I think he's going to change a couple thought processes in the industry of getting the fans to be able to be more engaged with these drivers.
And these other drivers are going to have to slow down a little bit when they want, I think when they're going to want to go home, right?
Get home and be able to have to start doing this.
because that's where the relationships were made, man, in the beginning.
That's where kids picked their heroes.
And that's when those kids all of a sudden start going to the short tracks.
And that's when, you know, all this stuff starts happening.
And that made me so pumped up when I seen that picture of that's how you do it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's just, well, so I've said for many years now that I think after the race, they should let, they should let,
they should let fans out. I think we should do a deal on the front stretch with the top three at least.
And then I think they should let the fans come out into an area like almost like a driver intro stage.
Just like they do before the race. Let them down there and then create an opportunity for them to get closer to the drivers and the crew and everything.
And like you like man, that was some of my favorite parts as a kid was being able to go down like go to a word of outlaw race at Lernerville in 1985.
and, man, you could go down to the in the pit area, and there's Dave Blaney, there's Samie Swindell,
there's Steve Kinzer, and they're standing there signing their signing autographs, and probably
selling more T-shirts right there.
Oh, yeah.
You know what I mean?
So, yeah, I mean, we, obviously it has to be a little bit more controlled because
Oh, yeah.
There's been at times that fenders disappear and wheels disappear and parts disappear on pit road.
So I think the way they did it, whoever thought of it.
Yeah, it needs to be looked at, man.
But if this was a single, like if Carson planned is great for him, great idea,
I don't know if the track playing, the track probably didn't really.
I don't know if they did plan to it, and then maybe they didn't advertise it,
but there was, I guess there was concerts for like until almost work.
Yeah, we were leaving and Dugger was playing.
Just starting.
So I think these tracks that do that, they give people more reason to stay.
Yeah, other stuff to do, then just go away.
Go get an autograph.
Come hang out at the concert for a little bit.
And let me tell you, there were some concerts there all weekend because we listened to every single one of them.
Yeah, you guys were right there with the fans.
Eating photo cake.
You have no idea.
The lineup on Saturday may have been my three favorite bands in a row, if you want to call them bands.
It was the Ying Yang Twins, Buster Rhymes, and Tim Dugger.
He's not kidding.
You had me in the first half.
You had me in the first half.
And there was a bass speaker on the roof with us.
Oh, God.
Oh, so you guys.
I mean, it felt like there was...
We were jamming.
Yeah.
Hell yeah.
I do appreciate when tracks do things like that.
And if they're going to do that, maybe get asked other drivers, like, hey, guys, just so
you know, we're going to open this area up after the race if you guys want.
Can you hang around?
We're going to have fans down here just so you guys know.
Like, that'd be awesome.
I think more tracks should look into doing that and just create an opportunity for the fans,
like you said.
I mean, let some little seven-year-old kid go down there and meet his favorite driver, his next
hero.
Well, I mean, the thing is it, that...
could be his favorite driver after he meets him, right?
Exactly. That's the stuff that would happen.
I mean, he could, someone could have watched him and say, man, oh my God, I get the, you know,
I mean, it just.
One more thing, too, is it costs zero dollars to go down there and do that for them to, for
the kid to have that experience.
Like, that is the problem.
Somebody will formulate this idea and it'll be a $300 ticket to get there.
But that's why it's good for the fans.
I mean, they don't have to be there all day and sign up for these appearances and this
and that and places that they can't get to or go.
Like, that is just.
Yeah.
I think after you open it up and let them just do it.
it.
Spot on.
Spot on.
Did you want to go first on this one?
I think he's a whiny bit.
That's what I think.
Send it.
Why me?
Getting into spot on, spot off.
First topic.
Kyle Larson thanked his team for the win after their execution all day led to
his first victory in 51 races.
So talk about, I know you were talking about pitch strategy stuff yesterday in the group
chat.
I didn't get to follow it a lot.
Cliff Daniels, I mean, kind of changed the game a little bit.
He did.
With that caution, 68 or something to go when they decided to come in, you know, they were in good position right then to win.
But he kind of changed the thought process of everybody going forward because he took four on then.
So when that caution came out at the end when Paul needed to decide to pit.
Right?
And you guys just decided what to do.
Paul was probably thinking that the five was going to do two
because he just did four.
He's got fresher tires than most.
We did it earlier.
It works.
Right.
So he was probably going to do two.
And the only way Paul was going to beat him out was probably do two tires.
And with you guys staying out, I think three or four other guys stayed out.
And the 22 only doing two because he was expecting the five to do two.
Yeah.
It kind of put him a little bit.
It's okay when you do two when you come out, you're leaving.
leading, you can get clean air.
Yeah, you got to get the lead.
Right.
Now, he had to work a little bit, getting back to the lead,
but the five is sitting there now with four again.
So I think Cliff really, he's the one that won the race.
I mean, and you know, Kyle thanked the team for doing it.
I mean, they executed spot on, man.
I mean, that's what won the race.
Yeah, yeah.
I don't know why any of us pitted.
TJ, I mean, they just, did you guys pit the whole second half of the race?
I mean, Jesus.
Yeah, I mean.
I forget what lap we last pit on.
Your last fuel run was 89 laps in a fuel window of 75.
And there was some beginning runs in the beginning there.
We were leading.
I was like, okay, we wanted to stretch out like it was going to, you know,
like it did a little bit at times during the race.
We wanted to stretch out.
And yeah, a couple of them might have guys.
Maybe not at that point, because I'm not sure.
I'm not sure they could have then.
But whenever they, you know, got back to us with the fresh tires later, it was way harder.
But I'm the same tires as then.
them guys, I'm not 100% sure that Joey, you know, has enough at that point because we were
pretty even. He was a little bit better, but we could take his line away.
I think the three of you guys, the five, the six, and the 22 are probably the guys that,
you know, were the guys to beat. The rest of them were comers and goers, right? They would
Yeah, we were pretty strong. I mean, like I said, if we- You guys were good, man.
Whoever had the clean air was probably going to win because I think they're all three good
enough to take the air away from the other guy, and I knew Joey's moves and was going
through it with Brad, but when they had the tire
advantage, a little bit, just because it's too much to do.
Yeah, and it's, it seemed like tires
mattered more this week,
this time than last. I know our best
run of the day was we put four on
I forget, I think it was like in the middle
of stage two, like a long run was
coming like, we could all go to the end
on fuel, so it was like 65, 70 laps,
and we restarted like 28th and drove to 10th.
And I feel like last year, we wouldn't have been able to do that.
You know, I don't know if it's a package, you know, more
horsepower. Yeah. You know, it's, I
The lap time, I think the pace was off maybe a half a second.
So that's more off throttle time.
It's what we've said on here for 100 years now.
You know, the more you get these guys off the throttle, the better the racing is going to be.
I thought that was a better race where you could kind of maneuver around.
If you had a good enough car, you could pass people.
But it was just, it was interesting to watch, you know, track position was king, obviously.
Like you, Tommy, when you, you know, I understand you think you're racing the five,
but like you're coming down pit road, they had all the time in the world as the 22 because they were Pitchstall 1.
when you see five guys stay out, you got to put four on.
No, you're not going to beat five guys with two tires.
But I think at that point in time, Paul understands and understood that there was only a certain amount of guys he needed to beat.
You look at the falloffs.
You're studying all that during the race of the falloffs and all the things at what's going on.
And at that time, you guys had how many cycles on your tires, right?
So it gets to the point that you know that, right?
And you're like, okay, the five guys, the five.
team is controlling it because he's the one that last came in for four. The rest of the guys came in
might have put two on before. They might have not even pitted right for a while. So I know Paul was
thinking about the five. He was worried about, and I could be wrong, but I'm just, that's what I
would have been doing. I would have been thinking about the five car and how I was going to beat him
off pit road. So, yeah, I mean, like I said, the five car was pretty much in the 22 car,
but the really only ones that could pass
the better cars and get back
to the lead. Earlier I think he was battling.
When they, like it was a 22 versus 20 there
for a little while and whoever could get through traffic better.
Like it was
it was fun watching those two guys
knife through when they did pit
and they were really racing each other
but they're also racing the traffic they were in.
But yeah, I think
I don't know, like Tommy said, you're racing off him.
I still think at that point
you almost have to get four
Oh, the five did get four.
I just think.
If the 22 gets four, he comes out still ahead of the five.
Yes.
And probably wins the race.
Yeah, I think Joey, Joey's really good on restarts.
And I think it was going to be hard to get around him.
Yeah.
I just feel like you put yourself in a box where if you put two on, unless you know that there's going to be 10 guys that put two on with you, like you can't put yourself on
two, even if the five does two,
now it's you two and maybe,
what, three or four other guys that do two,
and now you've got one row back or two
rows back is the rest of the field on
four, and you're kind of wedged in behind these guys
on old tires, I think that's a tough
spot to put yourself in, and it
showed, you know, because they were, I mean,
it's kind of, you know, he might, if we don't have all those
yellows, I don't know that the five runs
them down and passes him. Ah, he was, he was
going to, it was going to restart. Um, but yeah, it was, it was, and it's a
tough call. We talk about all the time, like when you're the leader,
or when you feel like you're kind of controlling the race,
like everybody's going to key off.
You know, you're leading at one point.
You don't expect everybody to come down.
No, we didn't.
You stay out and a little shit.
The whole field just came, you know.
Yeah, it was way more than I was like, oh, gosh, man.
And then I'm counting the cars for a buffer.
And then, uh, but you know, great racetrack is wide as it got.
Tires falling off enough to matter.
Um, we'd like to see a little more fall off.
But, uh, really successful race, in my opinion, as far as everything that I had,
it had, you know, natural cautions, a lot of them.
But I thought it was good.
Yeah.
Give me a new spotter stand on a wider pit road.
What was the pole?
Gluck's pole.
I haven't even looked this morning.
Yeah, I didn't look.
71.
71.
That's fair.
Yeah.
Who won?
Larson?
Well, Chase rack.
That would have been a chase rack.
That's a 10 point deduction.
Would have been 87?
Yeah, it would have been at least.
Bubba Wallace could not have.
given Josh Barry any more room
while going for position. Spot on, spot off.
We're just picking on one wreck.
Yeah, what position?
What position? What position? What position?
What position? We were passing for...
You're on the rumple strips.
Yeah, exactly. We can't get any fucking lower than that.
But where were you before that?
What do you mean?
Whoa.
Going into one.
Where was I?
Oh.
Throw it right in there.
Well, you leave a lane on the bottom.
There was no lane.
Throw what in there? We're down there. We're at his door.
But now,
Why are we going all the way to the wall?
Because we're loose because the guy turned down on the side of them.
No, you hit the rumple strips and shot you up to track.
Why do we hit the rumple strips?
Because you weren't supposed to be there in the first place.
Why not? Because it's a dumb move.
I will say he's going, he's going to go there.
You have to go there because of the air.
Yeah.
Like he has to go there.
But he's not going to make the pass.
You're not, I don't know.
Let's retract. Let's retract this.
Come back.
So that's fine when there's only one car above you.
you got to know that that 21 is not going to be able to move up
and get out of the way because of the 20.
We don't need him to move up.
We just need him not to come down.
Oh, my God.
He's racing.
Listen, as much as I want to disagree with Freddie,
every single guy in that field pretty much is going to fill that gap right there.
I'm, I'm, yeah, they're going to fill that.
If you leave that much room right there, they're going to fill the gap.
And now we're at his door.
Don't come down.
I want to see what the 20 moves a little bit.
Yeah, you wouldn't erect unless he's.
the 20 didn't hit the 21 and kind of like pop it back into you.
Like you were good. You were good.
Can't get any lower. Can't get any lower on the racetrack.
To me that's just a racing incident too. You guys are all trying to fill the gaps here.
I don't blame Josh. It's not like I think Josh turned down on us like on purpose trying to cause a wreck.
But you're we're going to, you have to take that hole because if you, if you follow Josh,
we're going to get tight as fuck and be at the 24's door and probably get split down the backstretch.
You want to talk about the briscoe wreck earlier? At the end of the day, even if you come off
the corner clean. He's not making the pass. You still were going to get passed by the 24.
Yes, because of the momentum. Yes. Yes, because you would have had to let up. The 24 is going to be.
But if you come up clean, the 24 is gone. If we come off clean, the 24 is still outside the 21.
And we're going to be, we're going to be bottom of three at his door. In the three, which is where I want to be.
If everybody comes off the corner normal, I think they beat you down the straightaway.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. But you can't, but TJ, you know this is. I think you should have went there. I would have went there.
Yeah. I think everybody.
I'll tell you why. The problem is, is Bubba had to go there because of the air, in my opinion.
He can't run the middle right there. He'll never turn behind Josh right there.
No. And he's, and Josh slides up and just gives him even more air. I mean, they're all going to fill that gap. And I just think it closed up.
It's a very low percentage pass move. I agree with you there. Like, he's not going to make a pass.
You're not doing that. Is it a low percentage pass move and a high percentage chance of wrecking?
I mean, it's late in the race and it's a wreck fest, so it's going to happen.
Yeah. I know. But you got.
Hey, I saw some,
this is what tanked my DVC picks right here.
Thanks, Freddie.
You got points, points and points and points.
Buddy, I don't see points.
Well, you don't have to because you're last.
Hey, I saw some other low percentage moves this weekend if you want to talk about him.
They're coming.
Yeah, no way.
But even with the Briscoe one, too, the Briscoe one, you know, we get a really good restart.
Priests or whoever was in front of priests got a really bad restart.
and we had a massive run on the 19.
We take him three wide.
He ends up taking priest three wide, which actually puts us all four wide.
And that one I think, you know, again, we're on the rumple strips.
We get so low that we hit the rumple strips and get loose because the 19's kind of on our door again.
Can't get any lower than we are.
Rumpel strips again.
Yeah, can't get any fucking lower.
How low do you want them to go?
Like, sorry.
I tell you right now that people are going to be like, oh, you're fucking a bumbynows and
wrong. If Bubba would have drove in there, slid up a half a lane into somebody's door to say,
he's a fucking idiot. He shouldn't have done it. You're filling holes, you're putting your car as low
as it can go on the racetrack, and both wrecks turned it from guys turning down into the side
of us. We can't go any lower on the racetrack. Everybody's going to take that run like DJ said.
I mean, you're not really taking run. You're just taking air. And if you don't,
even the restart, it's like if they stack up in front of you on a restart and you just say,
ah, you know what? It's a low percentage move. I don't want to go down there. Guess what happens?
middle of three, middle of three, because now you're getting swallowed up from every side behind you
the second you don't take any run. So, like, it's just you don't have a choice in some of these
instances. And I'm sorry, like, if Bubba would have done something where he drove in there and
wiped everybody out, like from the bottom to the top, like the 77 last week? He's done it before.
Yeah, yeah, for sure. I mean, listen, I've sit down here numerous times the dumb shit he's done,
and I've talked about how hard he's one of the hardest guys to race on a racetrack.
But I want him to make that move 10 times out of 10. And you just hope you get a little more
room if you don't, you're wreck, and that's, and you move on. But like, well, it almost worked out for him,
because he's kind of hoping, when you make that move, you're kind of hoping, because I'm not going to
lie, I think the spotter, they were probably, would you call three outside right there, or you get
close to it? Yeah, I was bottom of three. Yeah, like, you were about to be four wide, because that 24 was
almost, well, I just said bottom of three still, like, because the 24 is going to fill behind the
20, even if the, like, I didn't want him to think the 21 was going to get clear the 20 and be able to
move, like, you're still bottom of three. And you have to make the move anyway, because if the 21 gets into the
whatever he was racing.
Yeah.
If he gets into the 20 and they get checked up at all,
you can't be behind him right there.
You want to be making your move.
So yeah,
it's just end of the race.
It's not 1995 anymore, Tom.
We got a race.
Hey,
it's just short tracking.
Damn.
Next.
Why do you guys call them rumple strips?
Rumpel strips?
The rumble strips.
I drink too much.
It's rumblements.
I call him rumple strips.
I was going to ask that too.
I was curious.
I was rumble.
Like, because they make everything rumble.
I don't want to continue this conversation.
I bet.
Because the 21 all day long or anybody else, how you have to drive turn one.
You go in a little high, you come off the bottom, right?
Does Bubba not know that the 21 is going to come down a little bit to gain his momentum off the corner?
Both instances, you said that Bubba was on the rumble strips, right?
That fucking means that there was no fucking space.
End the story.
I mean, I agree with your
I can't come down.
I'm sorry.
So you can't come down.
There's a fucking car inside of you.
You can't come down.
You had no choice.
He was,
the 20 was next to him.
You had no choice.
You're just going to drive down
on the side?
The 20 was next to him.
I mean, I'm sorry.
Bubba caused that wreck.
I'm sorry.
You're wrong.
Let's take a poll.
Let's take a poll in the room.
In the room.
Yeah, in the room.
Was Bubba had to fall for that rack?
No, with the fans.
We're going to do a fan.
No, in the room.
What's doing the room?
100% I fall for.
that, Rick. I agree with what you're thinking
on it, but that's just not how these guys
race now. They fill gaps
that you normally wouldn't fill. I know that.
So I agree with your thought process.
I agree with that 100%.
Okay, thank you. 100% I agree with that.
It was Bubba's fault. The wreck was Bubba's fault.
I would have drove in there too just for
air and, I mean... We're not asking what you would
have done. Whose fault is it? I mean, I don't
blame Bubba for driving in there because I think...
It's Bob's fault? I don't care.
Well, you got to have an opinion.
All right, I think it was Bubba's fault.
I've seen guys feel
in the room back then.
No, that was the 77.
I don't know.
Awesome.
Thank you, Dolly, for the comedic relief.
We needed that.
Good way.
Agreed.
Next.
Next.
After multiple break failures,
NASCAR needs to go back
to the intermediate package
at Gateway next year.
Spot on, spot off.
I mean, Tommy, this is,
I'll ask you this.
Is it a track package issue?
Or is it a team issue?
I think it.
it's a combination of both, unfortunately, because, I mean, Gateway has the heat, you know,
of heat and cooling down because it along straightaways. That's why all the failures are going
down the front stretch because it's, it's so long and what you have to do, breaking, going into three.
So there, I think, you know, Lartart did a pretty good job trying to explain to what's going on
with the rotors, you know, their floater rotors, its little spaces. But I think what happens is
as the race goes on and the brake dust is getting built up, built up,
the brake dust is kind of getting in between the floaters.
And then the rotors are becoming solid and becoming out of balance.
So you're getting a little break shake.
And once you start doing that and there's no floating,
that's when the crack start happening to the rotors.
So I think that they probably need to go back to the drone board a little bit,
work on this a little.
But we've got to keep making this package better.
The intermediate package, I mean, you guys have already said it,
that the racing was better from up top, right?
I was definitely better, yeah.
I was just so confused why it was to Ford's this time.
What is, so what's the options you have?
Is this a pad issue?
Is it a cooling issue?
The only, again, the only, like you remember a couple weeks ago,
where was it, Iowa?
Yeah.
It was, the only thing you can change is the brake pad.
That's the only thing you can do differently team to team.
That's the only option you really have.
So, man, I seen that pile of brake dust come off Blaney's car.
And then at pit stop, I was like, holy cow.
So obviously they probably had a softer pad than most, which all that brake that starts
to build, it gets in the floaters, everything starts getting solid.
And that's when the road is start cracking.
Not only because of the heat, you got, you got 1,000 degrees.
I'm just, and I'm making a number up for the fan, 1,000 degrees.
And by the start-finish line, it's at 300 degrees.
Now, I might be changing a lot, but just for you guys to understand the amount of heat,
the amount of cool goes in so fast every time you apply the pressure.
It's a lot.
So there's a lot of things going on there.
But, you know, we got all smart people, man.
And it's, TJ, you know, like, we saw issues in the past the gateway.
You know, I know we blew a radar in years past.
but I'm saying this year even so much,
now you get more horsepower.
It was, you know, it was even harder.
And, you know, so it's just, you know,
they think the Ford just kind of got caught off guard
and their cars were so fucking fast
that they were hard to slow down.
I mean, at the end of the today,
you've seen all the brake tape on Blaney's car,
but there's a reason why they do that,
they keep the heat.
You don't want the cool.
You don't want it to be super hot.
Yeah, you don't want it.
You want it to be a steady temperature.
And everyone's like, well, you should have pulled tape up.
Well, that's the wrong way.
That makes the brakes worse.
So they were trying to,
to adjust by using tape by helping.
And I'm sure it had to be the pad combination.
Well, that's what I was going to say.
I think a lot of it is, I think a lot of it's self-inflicted.
Yeah.
I mean, we used to have a lot of, you go to Martinsville.
We saw break failures back in the day all the time at Martinsville.
I feel like you'd see him a lot.
Like somebody was going to have an issue of breaks.
And I'm sure, like, I don't know a ton about the technical side of it,
but there's a lot of,
there's a lot of combinations
that people are trying.
Yeah, a different pad.
Exactly.
Like there's,
it's an open world.
Like, there's so many, like,
there's some teams that all,
there's, you know,
different compounds on all four corners.
Exactly.
And who knows how that all sinks with each other too.
And I think there's a,
you're looking for this advantage.
You're looking for a little bit of advantage.
And I feel like sometimes it bites you.
And you go a little bit too far.
and I feel like a lot of it self-inflicted.
I think if you wanted to go to Gateway
and run a conservative,
going to make it in a race, no problem.
You probably know what to put in the car
and know how to do it.
But if you want to go there
and try to have the fastest car,
you're kind of taking a shot at things.
And I'm guessing, just guessing,
that the way I know Paul Wolf is just a simple person,
I bet you those brake pads in the 22
were different than the 12.
I think Paul's probably less aggressive.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Yeah.
I agree with you.
Did you think at the end sitting there under red twice had an effect?
Because it felt like we came out of there and we had two instantly, you know, just sitting there soaking, heat soaking them.
Absolutely.
Another thing, I mean, that's part of it too.
You know, I just think there's a fine line for the combination that gives you a little bit more speed.
And if you want to take the risk of going for it, you can.
If not, it's like right front camber used to be.
Exactly.
You used to be able to put a bunch of camber in it,
but if we went to a long run,
you were really risking it, right?
Because we used to kind of around the time
when you probably first started coming in a spot
and Freddie, you'd see guys pop right fronts.
Oh, yeah.
Like quite a bit.
Like, and you kind of knew,
and there were certain crew chiefs in the garage
that were known for running heavy
on the right front camera.
The cars were really fast,
but they couldn't run long runs.
And I feel like it's just something kind of like that.
In response to the Swalwich Day incident,
Corey Ljoy tweets,
let the competitors handle it.
We can't print out AI fight posters
and penalize them for the exact same thing
we are advertising.
Spot on, spot off.
I mean, yeah.
I mean, it's this incident here in particular.
I agree with Corey.
I agree with Corey.
Yeah.
Do you see your guy on a poster to speak by any chance?
I agree with Corey that you don't want,
don't stop these guys from fighting and then promote a fight.
Did they sell them?
They put them up.
I didn't see where they were, but I saw a fight posters.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They were all over the place.
anything. But this wreck in particular, like I, again, both of them. I did the same thing last
week at Darlington. It was on both of them then. It was on both of them again this week because
obviously the end of it was all swallich. But Corey Day is catching him. And if you're
Corey Day, you have to know there's one guy on the racetrack today that I probably don't need
to fuck with at all. And it's the guy that told me last week he's going to wreck me during the chase.
And he goes into turn one and just gets loose underneath them.
drives up into the side of him and it's like, oh boy.
And then, you know, I saw people talking about the seven was up his ass.
Well, the seven only got up his ass off a two because of what happened on entry to one.
You know, again, Justin's trying to make a pass there.
He's going to try it back here.
Plus, he had gray pushing.
Yeah, yeah.
So, I mean.
Should have been on a rumble stream.
So it should have been lower.
Rumpel.
But then the thing that really drives me crazy about this is Swalich ruins his own day.
You know what I mean?
Like, I would understand if Corey Rectry,
You got the fence and your stuff's tore up.
Now you tear his stuff up.
Call it good.
You come off a turn two.
You're fine.
You're running sixth, I think it was at the time.
He was in the top five or top ten all day long.
You just hang a left on him and wreck your race car to send a message.
Well, great.
That's great.
You wrecked the guy.
But now you just ruin your own night.
You tore up your race car.
Pissed your own team off.
I'm sure they don't want to see their car that was really fast getting wrecked for no reason whatsoever.
I mean, TJ, you told me on the roof yesterday,
look like an ira racing move like you get away with it there yeah i've done it numerous times it
definitely works but you can't you can't cave your door in you can't knock the fender on the tire so
on i racing yeah on i racing yeah yeah i agree with i agree with you like you can't go down to the corner
and this is one of the faults of um you know corey that he's just not refined in that area yet not
um and he's got to understand big picture racing at this point too like
you need to get to the finish
and he had a great race going
like he was fast, had a good race
he was gonna be top five
yeah and why like
this is the point of the season
where you can't throw it away like that
at the end of the day
Solowich had to
make a statement
make a point
I mean
did he probably mean to destroy his car
I thought he was
waited to the time
the perfect time
where he was not
but he was between his wheels
to do it
and I think he misjudged
I mean, I'm not saying it for everybody to do it,
but it's like how many times is this going to happen, right?
How many, like you said, Freddie,
how many times is it going to happen?
And it's like you can talk to talk, right?
You can say what you're going to do.
You're going to do all these things.
If it happens, you're going to have to do something
to get the guy to stop.
Think about a little bit when you're racing around them.
I mean, it's like, look, even in the cars tour stuff.
I mean, Connor Jones is trying to make a point to everybody
on not to mess with him.
Well, look, it's going to get to a point that
Connor Jones is going to get spun out
or Connor Jones is going to spin somebody out
and get put to the back, like he's done how many times, right?
But NASCAR doesn't do that.
They don't put you to the back.
So it's like, yeah.
Do you guys think either of them should be penalized?
I didn't see.
So the quote that came out
that he was going to wreck him came from Corey, right?
Last week, like Swallowed.
never said that in public.
He told me he was going to wreck me.
So like if Swalich had said like I'm going to wreck that guy and then he went and wrecked him,
that would probably be an issue.
I think this is probably a.
It's allegedly hearsay.
What's any different than them saying priest wrecked?
Because priests said on the radio, I'm like whatever he said.
I mean, I don't know.
And I don't even really, I mean, not that I'm biased for anything.
But I don't, I'm done with that guy.
I mean, what's that mean?
What's that mean?
I don't know.
This is probably Tommy would you say this is a hauler meeting, not more so than a
penalty.
I don't, you know, they'll probably have these guys in the haul or the street.
I don't know, man.
That was pretty intentional.
Yeah.
I think there'll be some penalties.
I think that's, I just don't know if that, you know.
Do you think if there will be penalties, it'll be both or one or the other?
I think it'll be a penalty.
And it'll just be, no point of the court.
It'll just be William.
Yeah.
And William, I mean, this is not the only run-in he's had with people.
Oh, no.
Yeah.
Right?
I mean, the guy, the kids just got to calm down, right?
a little bit. He's got fast cars. He's very similar to Corey.
Yeah, he's got way more experience. He's come up through. It's probably why they butt heads.
Williams come up through every rank that you need to come up with, you know, the late models, the
archer, you know, to get to this point, he should be past this stuff of knowing how to race a little
bit, a little bit better. So at Iowa, we go down and turn one and Williams on the inside of Carson
and just gets loose, carries us to the fourth lane. We lose three, four spots. And it's like,
oh, okay, see you later.
Like he's the same thing Corey does.
Yeah.
So they're very similar.
I mean, I'm here for it, but I don't know.
I mean, I hate seeing cars get tore up like that.
No, and it's bad.
You know, that's a bad hit too.
I mean, I don't like, you don't want to see guys getting to doing this stuff.
So I don't know if, I don't know if William will get a penalty out of it.
They might, you know, he's not running for a championship, right?
He's not in the deal there.
No.
So maybe they said an example with this somehow.
Like, hey, guys, cut it out.
Maybe, I don't know.
I'd be surprised.
There would be a lot of people watching to see how this is handled, though.
All right, it is time.
We have been talking about the Making Moe merch contest for weeks now,
and we have our three winners,
and we're super excited to announce them today.
Coming in on top of the board with the DBC car,
which I think was a lot of our personal favorites, even.
It's Joshua H.
So congratulations to him.
Phil is coming in second with the rearview mirror,
another one that we loved to and Grant
in third with Talk Dirty to me.
So all these guys are winning cash prizes.
The three bestselling shirts
on the website while we ran this contest.
And I don't know about you guys,
but I had a really good time
going through all these designs
and seeing what was up.
I think that's,
the BBC car for me was the best one.
And now, luckily for these guys,
they're going to get each of these shirts
and we're going to ruin them.
Yeah, we're going to sign them.
So apparently they want the value to go down,
but I don't know what that's about.
But what did you like best out of this?
The best of like all of the
Of this you mentioned
Oh the sale of it
The best part about this was
The five DBC designs
You guys obviously flooded the website
And the five DBC designs
With the five bestselling things
On Dirty Moe shop dot Dirty Mo.com
For the last two or three weeks
With that contest rant
So as always our DBC fans
Are the best fans in the world
They always come through
They need to start realizing
Yeah I mean
It's never lost on us
The train's running down to traction
You better jump on one you still can
Maybe during reaction theater
we get a little questionable, but other than that,
we love our DBC fans.
So thank you guys all so much for participating.
Congratulations to Joshua, Phil, and Grant
for placing it on the podium.
And I know I can't wait to get a few of these pieces
and where I'm on the show.
Yeah, absolutely.
See, fans, it's time to read.
It's time for a reaction theater.
It is.
Oh, gosh.
Okay, it is time for reaction theater
where fans call in and voice their opinions
from this weekend's race.
I'm sure we'll have some spirited ones from this weekend.
This was a, there was a lot of really weird calls.
Oh, okay.
They made me the most uncomfortable to be quite honest.
Yeah, but TJ, the fans missed you and they wanted to say so.
Oh, God.
Hey, DJ, heard you get me in the show today.
They guys speak for all this when I say, shut the fuck up.
I figured that was coming.
I figured that was coming.
Must be from Western Michigan.
there's a lot of Blaney fans that called in
but I think this guy summed it up pretty well.
Go 12.
Go 12.
I think that guy's called in before.
Oh, yeah.
I'm just glad they're all still with us.
Honestly.
No toasters.
Freddie, stop staring at to use hot dog sign
and watch your driver, damn it.
What genius marketing that was.
Used hotdogs.com.
It's a, it was a, they had a fucking plane flying
overhead. They had banners on pit wall.
So, of course, it's right in front of me. So I take a picture
of it, posted on Twitter, and it gets
a million impressions.
And I'm like, thank God I didn't put the link in here, because I would have
felt like I got to take it advantage of.
But the website, you click on the website.
You click on the website, and it's like,
it's obviously AI generated.
And it's, I was afraid to type it in.
I'm not going to lie. It's so it's people in the grandstand
selling hot dogs. It's like, I'm in section 202,
row three, seat four.
I got this hot dog.
I took two bites out of I don't want anymore.
It's $2.50.
Come get it.
If you click on it, they're selling hats.
You know, it's a hat website.
But I thought it was really funny marketing.
And they had a lot of buzz this weekend.
So it was pretty fun.
Dude, it was, they had a stand and I saw a stand out there too.
Like, it was.
Right outside the tunnel.
I read and I was like, no way.
Like, do you can't?
It was, it was, I thought it was genius.
Wow.
Ty, you about took both chases out.
what the heck
he's about to have an enemy within the organization that you are
and have everybody in NASCAR hate you
This guy's a big Al's.
Every pan of NASCAR was going to hate you.
Ty.
Wow.
Ty take both chases out.
Wow.
No, Chase Elliot Blue's brakes on the back.
But the one thing I didn't understand,
did Ty just dump Eric Jones like for no reason?
He took a, went to the bottom like he wasn't supposed to, I think,
and hit the wrong.
You hit him on entry.
I say rumple too.
That was on entry.
That was a different deal.
But I didn't know if something happened before that,
because it just looked to me like he just bombed it off in there and dumped Eric.
I didn't know if there was something before that led up to it.
That's right, boys and girls.
Larson won.
You know what that means.
And if I play my strategy, right,
I might get my five in the victory lane tonight.
Just getting five
It's exciting.
For him?
Yeah.
Five, congrats to you.
Are the fans switching over from...
Well, you know...
Speaking of you, hot dogs.
They got to find new...
They got to find new avenues to...
Wow.
...relief stress.
...with the wife.
All five.
Lucky woman.
Kyle Larson finally gets the win.
Gateway, babe. Let's burn it down tonight, Five Nation.
Howing money is going to lay down some crazy pipe to his wife tonight.
And I'm going to make fun of my ex-girlfriend whose birthday is today.
Let's go, Five Nation. Let's go.
Oh, my gosh.
By the well, after that call, shout out to my mom.
Her birthday was yesterday.
Oh, shout out for his mom.
This is bringing back.
I kind of forgot how.
Are you having like...
It's been a while so I've...
Flash and series...
The after effects.
After the effect.
Yes.
Your thought process.
My gosh.
This is pretty tame today, I think.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's just weird.
Just weird.
Interesting calls.
First time we've ever had anybody
play bass guitar.
Imagine if TJ were here for the week that they went in on me pretty hard.
That was...
Oh, yeah.
That was Evan, actually.
That was Evan.
We do have one more.
It's a little longer.
I think it's worth it.
Okay.
Hello, this is the urology office here in Charlotte calling for a Mr. Larson.
We're just calling to check up and see how you were feeling after your penile reduction procedure.
Yeah, I was told that you were tired of stepping on your penis.
So I was calling to make sure that everything was working and going as planned.
Also, I don't know if I can reach him here, but we were calling for a,
Mr. Freddie Kraft.
Unfortunately, you are not eligible for a penile implant due to
high blood pressure.
It's rather embarrassing.
Due to your weight,
even with an implant,
you wouldn't be able to see it if you look down.
So if you could give us a call back here at the Charlotte Urology office,
that'd be great.
Oh, my God.
I'm so sorry.
That was good.
This was four.
I mean.
Jeez.
That was my last one.
That was a good one to end on.
Yep.
Tough times these days.
Oh, Lord.
All right.
Well, to leave an audio message 24-7, you can call our number at 704-802-9-572,
and we will play the best ones each week on the show.
Welcome to the Shit Show Hall of Fame.
A big thank you to Floop for providing us with some of the footage that we react to during this segment.
You could also sign up and watch all of the show.
these and save 15% on your subscription by using the link flow sports dot link slash door bumper clear
to sign up tj what happened here oh gosh um all right could have hit the brakes could
hit the brakes if he hit the brakes do you don't think the six car would have got behind
underneath not down the backstretch while he's next to him my god i mean look look
what jack's taken blame for but it had the 15 had something to do with it i mean if you look
close yeah he was in the front he's in a way but someone's showing it almost looks like jack
throttle's up going into the corner.
You're showing the last part of the clip.
They're not showing the last.
What happened before?
With the 25.
The 25 and.
Does he not throttle up right here, right?
Watch.
He checks up there.
He could be checking up, checking up, checking up,
throttles up right there.
No, this 15 led off.
Well, there's a corner.
Yeah.
You got to split out for the turn.
Yeah.
It was a racing inch.
You know what I think?
Not knowing who is.
He's bought cars.
I think the guy cleared himself within inches and the guy behind it,
He didn't, not that he didn't appreciate it.
And dude, also, can we pay attention to the 12 coming in here and just monster trucking the six?
Oh no, the green and black car.
Watch down here.
Who's the blue car that just blows through everybody?
That's Carter Wayland.
So that's, watch, watch the 12 right here.
Here he comes.
Here he comes.
Never lifts.
Hey, 97 too.
I mean, it was just, oh wow.
Is that the 97, a blue one?
Yeah.
That one, yeah.
Yeah, the 12 got two guys right there.
Oh, yeah.
No, that 47's Carter Wayland.
That other blue one.
Look, it's early in the race.
The 15 probably should have stayed low
and, but...
Can't stay low.
Can't go low in those situations.
He was early low, Freddie.
He was just got past by the 25.
You don't want to go on the bottom.
You just told me you got to stay off the bottom.
He was already down there.
Well, there's no Ripple strips at Tri-County.
He can't be on the bottom.
You got to get in line.
I mean, you just told me you've got to get in line.
You don't want to go to the bottom.
I also don't, I don't think Jack totally wrecks there
if the six and him don't hit.
No.
I mean, to me,
it's early in the race
that was the big thing that was
I don't
I've been fucking with Tommy all day about it
but it's 15 has been
he that kid hasn't made lap 10
I don't even know who it is
and how many how many
who is it
I don't know who like he
the kid's a good race car driver
I'm no that's a whole that's like a
oh that's the James kid James kid right
he just I don't know who's making like
look man you just you were on the bottom
the 25 and the 11 were
and Jack was trying to take it easy
and be nice. He had a nose there
and the 15 slid up. He should have
stayed on the bottom. Clear. I mean,
that's what started it. End of story.
Yeah, but I mean, to me, like, I think he was
just trying to get in line. He heard about what you said about the cup
race and just wanted to stay in line. Don't get out of line.
Don't get out of line. Stay in line. Don't try to pass
anybody. John. John. John.
Guys, this is specifically why
I ordered the blood pressure cuff this moment right
here. John. John.
Oh, my gosh. What is
this one? Oh, wow. Whoa.
Whoa!
He got some...
I looked like Carson back in the day.
That literally does look like me at Meeker.
If you wouldn't...
If you would have told me...
If you would have told me...
DJ's Learnerville.
I would have thought that was...
TJ's home track.
Carson Ellage and a Chadboat midget
in Mika Oklahoma.
Is that cement back there?
Those are just cement.
It looks like cement.
I don't know.
It could be foam, I guess.
Those haven't been there forever either.
I don't even ever remember seeing those.
I know.
He just hit the brim there, huh?
They got some stuff in front of them, though,
like barrels so you don't.
piling. Unless you're flying through the air.
Unless you're this guy.
That's what I was saying it.
Well, it's the same thing in three and four.
I mean, there's a fence there, a wall, or, you know, a fence.
Like, I've seen plenty of sprint cars, throttles hang.
And the problem with three and four is when they go off there, they just launch.
Yeah.
You know, into the fence, basically.
But, yeah, I love Lerbill.
It's probably my favorite dirt track.
Oh, boy.
Check the air.
Oh, where's Carson?
Carson, get your ass in there.
You can hear my hey right about now.
When he shows that guy's a hey!
And you're like, yeah.
come.
That guy,
that guy mouth off,
then he got shoved
and he decided
he didn't want any part
of that anymore,
I think.
These two.
Connor's forgetting
the story of it.
Like I said,
I've seen a lot of racing
from the cars tour
and I've seen a lot of incidents
that include one of these guys
and I don't see a lot of incidents
that include the other one.
Yeah.
I think TJ,
I don't really know
either one of them very well.
I think TJ's a really good race car driver.
I felt like I was in a clean race car driver.
Fight between my children.
I've never really seen TJ wreck anybody
So I don't know
But I didn't see
I saw one clip where T.J like ran him up into the
That was late
Yeah yeah but I'm just saying
Is that what they're mad about?
I don't understand
Yes, TJ started doing back
Exactly what Connor was already doing to him
And so that's when they got mad
Connor got by roughed TJ up, got the lead
TJ passed him clean
This is all for the lead
Yes
TJ passed him clean
TJ roughed him up got the lead
TJ passed him clean
Connor roughed him up got the lead
I mean, Connor,
Connor roughed him up.
The difference, too,
is Connor was literally trying to dump TJ going into three and four multiple times.
At the end.
At the end.
I was seen in there with you.
And,
like,
it went from just,
you know.
That guy's shoving.
That guy's pretty good.
That was pretty good.
From the bat,
he turned his back to him.
The guy's doing the tires and he says,
are you still here?
And the guy just,
dude,
two hand shoves him back into the car.
He didn't say much after that.
I hate it because they,
if they raced.
the way you're supposed to.
It would have been a hell of a race.
And if they race cleanly, the 31 never catches them.
Exactly.
And that's exactly what, like, that's the conversation that Kip had with them afterwards.
Like, you both have the opportunity to win a championship, either owners or driver.
And both of you are a lot more talented than that.
I have been hyping up this world championship figure eight race for a while a while.
Good job, Freddie.
That was.
Holy fuck.
What?
Like, I don't.
So here I can break it down for you a little bit.
So those aren't even the two cars
are wrecked each other in the beginning, right?
No, so this is...
He looks like he's humping his car.
So going into it, I would say
there was probably like three favorites to win.
It was Mark Tunney.
Oh, yeah.
Kick in, we got kicks.
My dad's done that before.
Mark Tunney, Ben Tunney,
which I believe is Mark's cousin
and Jeffrey Shackleford,
who's the 28 car right there.
And at late in the race, I guess,
I don't even...
I have to see the timing, but within the last hour,
I would say 20, 30 minutes left.
The 28 gets into the back of the three, turns him around.
And the three and the three and the T8 there are brothers.
That's the 28 driver going nuts.
And for whatever reason, later in the race, the three and the 28 made contact again.
The 28 goes around.
The three's got damage.
And here comes the three's brother.
I was going to say, this isn't even the car that they got into it.
This is a brother.
And this is not like orders.
Like nobody told this guy to do this.
I think he took it upon himself.
It's a terrible look.
You can see I'm still rocking my Mark Tunney's shirt today
because I thought he ran a good race
and just it didn't come up with the win.
And it got rough, man.
They raised the purse.
It was 50 grand to win this thing
because it was the 50th anniversary.
Everybody wanted to win it.
Those two guys raised each other hard.
And the shit that happened with the T8 is obviously unacceptable.
The throwing of the helmet and bouncing back out of is the best part.
It's unfortunate that it went down.
The stuff in the pit area was even worse.
people swerving at fans
and stuff. I mean, back in the day, the all
ice up speedway. That would look the same.
This was how it was at.
I just wanted to stress that, like,
I know their brothers, but it wasn't
like this is like Mark.
No, no. The guy he was
racing was the three, which car looked
exactly the same as the T-8. So this car on the left
entered the situation late.
Yeah, he's like a hundred laps now, I think.
It wasn't even...
I mean, that's bullshit for him running into him as he was
getting out of the car. I think so, too.
He deserved that beaten.
Yeah.
And it was really, really dumb on his part, unfortunately.
Wow.
All right.
Well, if you find a shit show out in the wild,
make sure you tag us or send it to us on social so we can laugh along with you.
Time to move on to AskDBC, where we ask the questions you have all been wanting the answers to.
For TJ, are you glad that people, we kind of touched on this earlier,
but are you glad that people can blame their bad driving on Freddie and NASCAR 26 instead of only you?
Um, I don't know. I kind of like it. It's kind of fun. But it's, it's, uh, I've gotten used to it. So, but I'm glad Freddy's in there to catch a, Freddie. Freddy takes a lot of shit. So, um, but I'm glad I don't have to. Freddy don't care though. No, yeah. It's, it's, it's fine. If you want to race from the bonnet, hit a lot of shit, don't blame the spot. What is the bonnet? Is that like above the car? Oh, oh. Yeah, like the hood. We all just you see is the hood. Like, it's sketchy already. But yeah, I don't know, it's fun. Honestly, it's, honestly, it's, it's, it's,
you see a lot of kids at the tracks that come up to you
and kids that have consoles and get into this stuff.
So it's fun to...
That's got to be the cool part.
That's cool to see.
I made the mistake of doing a game with a company
that wasn't prepared to do a game.
And I have a lot of video clips sent to me
of just some crazy shit that I'm saying in a video game.
Like the track is broken and it's just bad.
you have a stutter in that video game?
Yeah, it was like, it was something else.
From Zero to Zillich wants to know
what role do spotters play in modern day NASCAR
when it comes to team strategy meetings during the week,
post-race debriefs, upcoming race planning,
basically anything away from the racetracks.
So I'll go quick because mine is a lot shorter than TJ's,
I guarantee it.
TJ is really, really in depth with the SMT stuff.
We have a team meeting tomorrow morning with the 23,
team. Then we have a company-wide analytics meeting at some point tomorrow where we have our own
analytics department to kind of break everything down and then we kind of apply what they put to us.
But I know, TJ, you go in, I mean, head first, both series. Yeah. Like, to me, it's evolving
and you're just trying to, you're trying to separate yourself. But we do competition meetings. We do
pre-race meetings at the shop, normal stuff, I would say. Although it's, you know,
throughout the week, though, you're trying to put things in front of the drivers.
I feel like it's the spotter's role to put things in front of the drivers to help them prepare for on-track stuff.
And you want to be on the same page as a driver when you get there because you want to be prepared for situations and things like that.
So, you know, I have a pretty good system, I think, of preparing the drivers.
Every driver is a little bit different.
Brad, his schedule's up all over the place a lot.
So it's harder to nail down a certain time every week.
but like I said, me and Carson sit down.
We go over to my house.
We sit there and rewatch races.
We, uh, not, not all on video either because sometimes I don't, unless there's a good
in car, I don't really use the, um, the broadcast video much.
I don't think I can learn more from skimming through SMT and watching lines and things
than I can watching a broadcast.
But you just want to be prepared for situations.
You go over resarts.
You go over what guys made up ground and resources.
Where to go.
When you're in this situation, what to do.
you go over a lot of things like that,
and you try to put it, you know, at their fingertips
to where they can get to it.
And I've got a pretty good system where I can tell Carson,
hey, I put a clip in here.
I want you to go watch it, tell me what you think, you know.
And it's just, there's a lot.
There's a lot to it.
Speaking of Redistarts, 48 and a 5, was that both times?
Was that planned?
I told, yeah, I told, I asked, I went down to Tyler,
and I said, I said, I got good news and bad news.
I said, if you keep restarting like that,
you're going to win the race.
The bad news is he's going to be in concussion protocol when it's over because the 48
would just come up and way lay them from the back and send him out to car legs.
I mean, that's, you're going to start seeing that more or more now after yet.
We've been seen it.
But that was to a new level.
And the biggest thing for me, like prep-wise, what I do, my personal prep is more so
knowing driver tendencies, knowing who's going to race you hard, who's going to, like yesterday,
Lugano's leading.
You know he's going to switch.
which just restarts up a lot.
He's going to play some games.
He's going to go early one time.
Then he's going to drag us into the box one time.
You know, sorry, TJ, but there was one point where Brad and Lugano were the front row
and you're like, okay, when these guys restart next to each other, we usually see some games
played.
You know, so it's just knowing tendencies of drivers, really.
And then obviously the track trends and stuff like that.
But for me, it's more so knowing our competitors.
Like for me, how to approach each guy.
Some guys you know you can take advantage of a little bit.
Some guys, you know you've got to be careful with.
so it's just keeping that kind of stuff.
I mean, when the 22 and the 6th were in the front row,
I'm like, oh, man, this is going to be a good restart
because of the experience between both of them.
And it's, and it's, I think you were kind of at a, not a deficit really,
but like you're on such old tires that you can't really,
you kind of got to carry momentum into the box.
You can't really play the game of waiting
and trying to go because you'll spin your tires.
So, like, you were, you couldn't play all the games you wanted to.
We needed to have the absolute perfect restart
because on the tire deal and what happens is the outside car
if you don't clear the guy,
they just side draft you and pull you back
from the quarter panel, and then they slingshot down in the corner.
And so when I was telling you about the,
you know, talking to Brad about going really late in the boss,
which if we would have went at the end line,
it would have probably caused a big wreck.
But you know what restart I did that on?
It was one where Joey took the bottom because I know they're listening.
And we were coordinating restarts with Joey
and other people that were starting behind us on when we were going to go
so we could time getting the push right and try to get the
perfect start. And so I said it to Brad, you know, strategically during that caution because
maybe they think we're going to go late. Yeah. You know what I mean? And said a, and Joey was
laying back pretty good. But they're playing the game. We're playing the game. And everybody does.
So, you know, you're always looking for an advantage. And if we could have got clear, we could
have made it a lot harder. You're going to by looking at yesterday with the 48 and a 5, now you're
going to see some more of that. But now I mark my word, you're going to see some mistakes on some
restarts because of it.
He's going to drill a guy with wheel spin and there's going to be certain tracks that that's not
going to work.
No, we were hitting each other so hard up front.
Like, yeah.
It was incredible.
I mean, the 48 was way late in this.
He was Alex's, uh, but it shot to five.
I was like, holy.
If you look at Alex's restarts, he's notoriously, notorious for being he doesn't, he's in a,
he's pretty far gap in front of him.
Like he leaves a pretty big gap in front of him.
Almost every restart, wherever he's at.
Um, but that gap that he was still having.
that gap, but he was carrying that run and hitting.
And, yeah, it was really shooting the car.
I almost think it was safer for them to take the front row with each other than give
Lugano the front row.
Yeah.
Because if Joey gets even...
Oh, the last restart?
Oh, absolutely.
Yeah, like, that was smart.
Yeah, I think you almost have to split.
Moved him.
Yeah, he would have.
Shout out to Alex, too.
Tough weekend for him.
Obviously, his dog Finn passed away.
That was a hard interview to watch.
I just, me and Meg went to that earlier this year with our dog, and I can't imagine.
And I was thanking God that it was the offseason
because I wouldn't want to go to work for about a month after that.
But Alex did have a really good race for him yesterday.
Hey, it's really good.
For a tough weekend for him.
So good to see.
Do you all, what's your opinion on the Bristol night race
and it being a crown jewel event?
Do you think that it is?
Yeah, I mean, I think I said earlier this year,
like if you, we were talking about indie being a crown jewel,
if you asked me which race I'd rather win,
it's probably the Bristol night race,
just because I come from a short track background.
In, you know, if the 8,500...
Over the brickyard?
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, we've won the brickyard, so I don't need to win it again.
Okay.
No, but if...
Honestly, honestly...
Your train, I thought...
You're thought process.
No, I would rather win Bristol.
He's an arrogant son of a bitch today is what he is.
That's fine.
I've won there.
I've been there, don't know.
No, it's fine.
I was joking about the brickyard.
But even before the brickyard win, I would have said the same thing.
Yeah.
Because I would rather win the Bristol night race than the Brickyard 400.
I just coming from a short track background,
my favorite races are Martinsville and Bristol,
every year.
And I think that that would,
it would be more to be.
Do you have a win at Bristol at all?
No, yeah.
I mean,
K&N,
I got maybe truck win.
I didn't win a modified race there.
I've been to Victoria Lland a couple times there.
I can't remember what that.
I remember Kyle Benjamin had won for sure.
But yeah,
I mean,
it's just,
it's a place that I think has kind of always been
more illustrious to me
growing up watching races there than the Brickian.
I don't,
I don't think,
I mean,
it's there,
but I don't,
I don't consider it like a
Crown Joel, but it is a, if you think of Bristol, you're another cool race to win Bristol.
It's one of the more like tint pole events on the schedule.
I like it.
It's the second race I tell people.
People say what race, if I'm going to my first NASCAR race, what race should they go to?
It's the Daytona 500.
It's the Bristol night race.
For me, those to the two races.
What do you think, Tom?
No.
No what.
I don't think so.
No.
It's a cool race.
It's a great race.
It's a badass race.
But it's not.
Nighttime under the light, Saturday night race, short track, supposed to have some.
Carnage and supposed to be fun, but, man, you talk about these other tracks, like, you walk into Darlington and it's just like, I don't know, like the prestige is there. Daytona 500 is Daytona 500. The brick car. When you're there, I mean, that place.
The horror of it. It's just, yeah, you just feel it. You know the history the place has, not only on the NASCAR side, but just a history there in general.
And motorsports or whatever it might be. The names that have crossed that start finish line and not done burnouts over.
for it.
Or Dunford,
not so for it.
Where were you on that one, T.J.?
Jesus.
Dude, when the driver unplugs,
I can't do much.
Smoke singles.
Hold a board up.
Yeah, something like that.
All right.
That's all we got for us,
DVC.
DBC picks.
Freddie ruined my weekend
by wrecking Josh Barry.
So I lost.
Tommy won.
Congrats.
Is it,
like, reset for the playoffs?
Whoever wins the playoffs is a champion?
Yeah, it's a how it works.
It's like the last.
year's format.
Like the whoever wins,
Phoenix wins or Homestead wins?
That would be funny.
So I go first?
Yeah.
I will take,
damn,
hard to take back to back,
but I'll take Kyle Larson.
I'm going to go with Briscoe.
Oh,
you got, TJ?
Do I have to avoid your picks,
or?
Yeah, you just can't pick.
You know how this shit goes.
You know, TJ.
This show's called door down.
You can't pick.
Larson or
I mean I would probably
go with Denny next so
as long as they didn't
Well you can't
I already pick them
Okay
Let's see here
You can't pick
You can't pick
Brisco or Denny
Or Larson
I will take
I'll go Brad
Heck with it
Yeah
It's a good pick
Insider Trading
I'm not betting
I am gonna go with
C Bell
We are betting on this
A dinner
I don't see if I didn't
I've been the champ of this twice
And have yet to get a dinner
I know I
I didn't get dinner
last night either
Last night
year either. No, last night I had
Dino Nugs for dinner. All right, guys, weekend
winners. It is time. Our
guest this week does not have to be accompanied
by his parents.
Nick Hoffman, welcome to DVC.
Big World 100 winner this weekend.
Yeah, I appreciate you having me on.
I watch all your shows. I really enjoy it.
Decent race this week,
I mean, I didn't get to watch. We were
having our own shit show at the Gateway, so I didn't get to watch
much of it. I know
Guston was in control for most of the race. I already broke
some late restart. But the drive chef was laying
the ground. What's it mean to win a race like that for you? Yeah, it's unbelievable. I really
hadn't sunk in yet. We burn it down Saturday night, but I had all day to recover yesterday.
It's just really wild. I don't know. I expect myself to do that type of stuff to win those races,
but then again, when it actually happens, you don't really realize it all. It's just
really surreal. It's our Super Bowl. It is the Daytona 500 for us. It's the granddaddy of them all.
So unloaded that trophy this morning.
I'd sit down there in the shop and you just walk by it.
It's pretty wild to put my name on that list.
Now, where is this trophy going to go?
Because, I mean, does it go like in the gator pond?
I mean, the family is not familiar.
Oh, yeah.
Hoffman has 800 gators at his house.
He's got a whole corner of the shop.
It's like a whole room with a running fountain in pawn.
And you'd have to build a classroom for all your globes or what we're going to do now?
I think the globe is definitely going to end up inside the bar here at the Blue Deuce Tavern.
So it's going to be a full.
piece. So I've always said that if I ever won Gateway, that that'd be a focal piece,
but nothing tops the world 100. So I got to find a spot for it. I ain't got that figured out,
but I did tell my car owner, I said, listen, I don't care what this car costs me. I'm keeping it.
We're putting it up and, you know, hanging from the rafters or something. Are you going to
replace the modified that's on the, in the rafters now and put the late model up there?
No, that was going to have to end up in the shop. The modified stand, if it wasn't for
this modified in here, I wouldn't have any of this.
I wouldn't even have this opportunity. So
the modified is probably the most important piece,
but that late model on Saturday, it's going to get
retired. I'll say absolutely
no fun happens at that blue-dose bar.
No one whatsoever.
I've never seen like Donnie shots upside
down head first in that modified ever.
I've definitely never
climbed on to that mezzanine
and gotten in it either. I don't know
why we even needed a race because your buddy, Gordy
Gundaker told everybody on like Friday
or Saturday you had the best car there.
Talk about your race.
So I had it played out for you.
Obviously, you know, you capitalized that,
Gus and breaking at the end.
But, I mean, that's a long race for you guys.
Yeah.
So Friday night at the end of the race, I was really good.
And I felt like I had the car to beat late in the race on Friday.
So going into Saturday, 100 laps, I felt like we were in pretty good contention to do it.
You got to get those heat races.
It rains.
So the racetrack's going to be fast now.
And so I was really worried about that.
and they give you two provisionals.
I was third points.
So typically you would think that Brandon Sheper of Chris Ferguson is going to get in the race
and that's going to give me the provisional if I do need it.
Both of them didn't make it in through their heat race.
So now they got to use the provisional and I have to race my way in no matter what.
I was able to get to second in my heat race and that lines me up ninth now in the feature,
which you don't want to use that provisional, but it's really nice to take that weight off your shoulders.
Just paid off to get into the race and start 9th.
And then at that point, you can kind of bide your time.
So I did, for a lot of people, probably thought, too long.
Didn't wait to really go till lap 60 or something.
And I think at that point, they said I was 12 seconds behind the leader.
And I just saved my tires for so long that once I needed to press the issue,
I could really hustle and run them guys down from almost 10 seconds back.
And then that caution comes out with 12 to go.
I just got to third.
And we went into one and Gusen fanned out to try and take my airway, getting into one,
and then peeled back to the bottom.
And me and Ricky both were going to drive by him because he kind of left himself vulnerable
in the middle of the corner and was able to get by him there.
And he breaks a dry shaft anyway.
And then it's my race to control from there and was able to get it done.
So, yeah, it's just a matter of.
I watched Dale McDowell save tires and do the same thing that I did for so long and just
putting that in my notebook because I just got to be patient here.
I just happen to pay off this time.
Talk about that format.
Because the format to be watching as an outsider,
it just feels like you continuously get kicked in the balls as being a fast car.
Absolutely.
Like you are you qualified up front.
Now you go start six in your heat race.
Okay, good.
You're high up in points.
Okay, now we're going to spend a wheel and you're going to start buried in your heat race again.
Like that wheel spends a six every damn time.
What a coincidence.
Yeah.
So Chevy rolls a six and then you're your way out of the race now.
you got to get to the top three.
And now 10 cars in qualifying are within a tenth of a second.
So you stick one of them guys on the front row.
They're going to win the heat race.
It's pretty easy to run around there without lifting and not make a mistake really.
So we're just way too tight anymore to be able to invert six and then try and dig yourself out of that whole thing.
Got to go your way.
A couple guys got to run into each other, which happened in my heat race was how I got clear of a couple of guys.
but most of the time, like a guy like Shepard,
they literally just run around there without lifting.
He picked up one spot and he was just screwed.
So now he's got to use a provisional.
So, yeah, you definitely do get kicked in the balls quite a bit the entire week.
Then, yeah, like I said, it rains right before the first heat race.
So now it makes it mock speed again.
And yeah, it was just, it was at the beginning of the day,
I was like, man, nothing's falling my way here.
And then it just happened to work out at the end.
I watched the race.
And like you said, I was like, I was kind of watching your car.
and you just stayed on the bottom the entire time I saw you
and you'd kind of be at the back of the pitcher at times
and then it was like ninth, ninth, another 10 laps, ninth.
And then you got one and then two.
And then I'm like, oh, the top five.
And so what is, when you're saving tires in that car running that race,
when you say that, are you just like floating into the bottom
and just rolling into the throttle trying to keep your left rear low?
Or what are you doing?
Yeah, a couple things here.
Yeah, if you look at the pictures of my car,
the left side door is completely cake.
with mud.
And that was because I was running so close to the infield wall.
There was actually water laying down in there at the bottom.
And a couple times I would run through it.
And that would cool my left side tires down tremendously, right?
Because it's water.
Yeah.
So I'd run as close as I could to that infield wall.
That was the only brown left on the racetrack.
So that brown is going to wear your tires less than being out there in the black part
of the racetrack.
So just trying to run really lower down the straightaways too.
And I knew it wasn't the fastest way around the racetrack,
but really guys weren't driving away from me.
when I was racing around Shepherd and Hudson O'Neill and stuff,
I could keep them at bay just riding right there almost beside them
all the way against the infield wall.
And then I knew once late in the race,
if I needed to pick up the speed,
I had to move out to that middle and circle
and try and keep my momentum up.
And that was what I started doing with like 40 to go,
was just got out into the racetrack and just started circling
and had plenty of tired to do it.
Talk about a big announcement for you this weekend.
Before we even got to the World 100,
you're going to drive the Spire
Dirt Super Late Model next year
What's that mean to you see them guys coming to your side of the sport as well?
Yeah, it's crazy.
The whole week was wild the way it all played out.
But to announce that on Thursday, that was our plan.
Get that out.
All the eyes are turned towards Dirt Lake Mountain Racing
and our Crown Jewel and get that out there on Thursday.
For them to even approach me about doing this deal,
they want to do a full-time late model deal.
And tab me as the guy just because
we're closed right down the road.
I already have the shop. I have everything to do this deal.
And they wanted to build a full-time late model program.
Then I can be able to help Carson a little bit.
Most of you know that Carson's hard to help, you know.
But yeah, I'm excited for the opportunity and just to see if we can make him a half-hast early model racer.
So he wants to do more of it.
And that's the only way he's going to get better.
So build like a program, I won't have nothing to do with taking care of any of his stuff.
but I can teach them along at the racetrack
and just focus on my own program.
But we'll race for a national championship
again next year.
I'm not sure which tour yet.
And it's going to be really cool.
It just opens up opportunities for me too
for other things in life.
Yeah. Speaking of hard to help,
do you have a steering wheel?
You can loan Strickler.
I think he lost one of his this weekend somewhere.
That's the second time.
This guy has grown steering wheel.
And I was around for both of them.
So I'm in that heat race or feature or whatever it was.
And I've seen him get out of the car
and I've seen Strickler piss plenty of time.
And so I look over and he's got his wheel like this.
I'm like, ooh, he's throwing that.
We got to work on his toss.
He's got to like, he's got a frisbee it more.
That the toss is not working.
I mean, Tony Stewart was there.
He should have went and asked Tony.
Man,
congratulations.
I know it's a big win for you.
The biggest probably in your career.
Now you've got to go do it multiple times.
We appreciate you jumping on here with us.
Let me know, let me know when the celebration starts over there.
It's only around the block from the house.
I think maybe I can swing by for a little bit.
Yeah.
Yeah, I'll definitely let you know.
it's easy. All right, congratulations.
Thank for jumping on. Thanks, Nick.
All right. Shout out Nick Hoffman for joining us today to kick off our weekend winner's segment.
Hopefully we'll be getting a text soon on the celebrations.
And I know there's plenty of other winners that we want to call out from the weekend, Freddie.
Tommy, you got any modified races?
I didn't pay attention to one.
Unfortunately, I'm sorry.
Are you good?
You got T.J.U.C.
I don't even know who won Stafford.
Card store. We had Connor Jones and Brody Monaghan.
One.
Who won South Boston?
Boston.
I got it right here.
Kennedy's name.
Connor Waddell.
Connor Waddell got his first career.
Oh, nice.
Trevor Ward won the South Boston championship.
McKendy swept the Super Modified and the Modified and Star Classic.
I think Jeffrey Battle won the 350 race.
I'm not sure about that.
Mom said Wyatt came really close to his first 360 win this weekend.
He just made a dumb mistake, I guess.
Shout out to the Larson family.
Again, Audrey won twice this weekend.
I told you, if they came here, they can't lose.
Kyle obviously won
Mike Hadley Jr. won the 50th
anniversary figure 8 World Championship race
aside from the Chitjo. He did a good job
kind of state and contention and it kind of fell in his lap.
Landon Salamito won at Seekon.
Speaking of, and then the DBC bump
is even real for your friends.
Owen came here last week. Talked about his favorite driver
was Colin Hutchinson. He wins the midget race.
Geez. Owen Grinnon won the Cecil Palm Shree,
66 at Riverhead, which is a race
in memory of Eddie Partridge.
his dad
Dan and Sean
Danny Granon
his dad went in
the Riverhead
Wall of Fame
was at the same
day to the same day
I don't even know
I think it was
I know he was going
in this year
I don't know
when they did it
it kept getting rained out
Killian Collins
sent us an email
to our friend
Emerson at the BBC support
group
the BBC support
support
whatever they all they are
over there
he was the point championship
at Grand Ben Speedway
James McFadden
won the Tuscarora 50
at Port Royal
that was going to be mine
So he got flipped over the night before or something too, right?
Like pretty hard crash.
Yeah, yeah.
Well, they wrecked in the dash.
They wrecked in front of him.
He kind of hooked the left and pounded the fence.
Joe Mooney and them boys got the thing fixed up.
That's always, I want to go to that racetrack.
That race track looks badass.
Yeah, I want to go to that.
A little fair outside of there.
What else I did have on here?
Damn, I just hit a button and reset everything here.
Oh, I did want to give a shout out to Tyler Berry and Peter Bennett.
Did you watch the SK?
You didn't watch Stafford.
No.
They put on a clinic on how you're supposed to race each other at the end of the SK
light race, which is kind of hard to believe sometimes for the SK light division.
But they ran side by side for the last, I don't know, five, ten laps, whatever it was,
never touched anybody.
Nobody ever ran anybody up.
In fact, the SK guys could learn from it because they wrecked the hell out of each other
at the end of the Teddy race.
Andrew Mueller won the 40-lapper and Troy Tallman blocked his way to the win in the TC-13s shootout.
but yeah, I think that's about it for the recap.
I did before we get out of here,
again, we'll have the scroll going for the rest of the weekend winners.
There's a big list.
Gary Myers passed away this week.
A long time, I mean, Bowman Gray legend,
Bert and Jason's dad,
just a stalwart in the North Carolina racing world.
And I did want to give a shout out.
Billy Nassowitz.
I don't know that.
He's not doing well.
He needs some prayers from us right now.
So shout out to those.
Those guys, hope Billy gets better soon.
And Buzz Chu's wife passed away a couple weeks ago.
And damn, I forgot to mention that last week.
But a great family.
Oh, unbelievable family, Buzzie.
Yeah.
So we're thinking of those guys.
Again, we will be back next week.
What do you got going on this week, Tom?
Anything racing-wise?
Orange County Smart Tour Saturday night.
And Luke's running Thursday into trucks as well.
Oh, in Bristol.
Cool.
Carson, you got a weekend off this week?
It's my birthday weekend.
So I'll be.
Do you make the cars tour schedule have your birthday weekend off?
Is that that worth?
No, because we are probably racing on it next year.
But, yeah, no, Friday, I'm planning on doing absolutely nothing.
What are you doing?
What do you got any plans?
Me and mom are going to go to a winery on Saturday and Sunday,
but Friday is my actual birthday, and all I will be doing is switching my health insurance over.
I'm hoping to have a Sunday off, so maybe we see.
Hey, Sunday, how's the weather?
Probably not great.
It's Bristol.
Probably going to rain at some point.
TJ, what do you got going on? Anything fun?
Just Bristol.
Just Bristol.
Just Bristol.
Thursday morning, right?
Yep.
Bristol Thursday morning and a lot of a lot of prep work coming up for it in a short week.
So I also like to thank my sister's guy.
He was at the World War I'm watching.
And the nighttime activities seemed to be fairly entertaining.
He sent a lot of pictures.
It looks like a really fun event.
The world is fun.
I went the year that they did the dream in the world in the same week.
You want to talk?
about a fucking time.
Yeah.
They had this thing called the rack roller.
It was pretty interesting.
What?
A rack roller?
Yeah.
Okay, I can imagine.
Must have been for steering.
For sure.
All right, we are out of here.
We'll see you guys next week.
I don't know who's coming next week.
Where are we at?
Oh, I think Ryan Priest is coming next week maybe for the first time ever.
We'll see if he follows through.
But he says he will, so we'll see.
But yeah, thank you guys for listening.
We're out.
Bye.
