We start off by getting background on Chris, the time he spent working with Tommy Baldwin, and everything that Kaulig Racing currently has going on. After that, they dish about Sonoma and the races that took place there over the weekend, which was AJ Allmendinger's 500th Career Cup start. But before we got into Spot On, Spot Off, we had to ask him about the elephant in the room — the rumor of Dodge going Cup racing in 2027. I am your villain, one of the hosts. Carson Ellage. Tommy Baldwin. How are you this morning, sir? How is Sonoma? How did I get thrown off from doing the intro? I guess. They just liked me to do it better.

Jesus. I'm good. A little tired. Got home about 5 o'clock this morning. Lord. Have you been to sleep yet? Yeah. Oh, yeah.

I was still on West Coast time. So when you woke up, it was fine. I mean, we went Cali back, Cali back the last two weeks. So it's a little tired, but we'll be all right for this show. We got a lot of stuff to talk about, right? We do. Eric, fun weekend and Elko? Yeah, that place is awesome.

The fans are amazing. The devil could have came out, and they still would have gave that person a round of applause. They clapped for just about everybody. But I saw someone say, could we just get a bunch of people to drunkly call in and say, we miss you, Freddie? And I was like, well, I could do that. And then Freddie asked me to come in here today. So this is a lot more fun.

A lot more fun. And I am super pumped about our guest this morning. Always smiling. Always a fun guy to see around the garage. Chris Rice. How are you this morning? I'm great. And I'm excited to be here.

You know, I'm sad. Freddy's not here because, you know, we hackle. a lot. But we got Tommy, Tommy. He could probably hackle 20. Well, he gave me a shot years ago, like when I was at Bill Davis. So this is going to be a fun show, I'm sure. A payback, payback, if you will. Chris, so I- Well, not a shot. Like a liquor shot? Give me a job. Give me a job. This is a job. I was like a shot. Like a jab in the, like so that you were going to get your get-back today. Chris Rice is another arm of Tommy Baldwin. Exactly. So you've just grown everybody's career. Get right into it. Then let's tell us all about it. Well, just, uh,

Chris came walking in the door one day, Bill Davis. And obviously we knew about his family, right? His mom was a pretty high-profile person in the old short track racing world. And Chris was no different when we hired him as a shock specialist for Bill Davis racing than he is now. I mean, he used to be in this shock area and all of a sudden just do-da-da-da-to-to-talking.

I mean, just nonstop. And that's before everyone noticed we all needed medicine. So he was always one of these guys that you would like see and go, yeah, he's not going to be here for long, right? He's going to do things. And we quickly realized that we moved him up to the next level, right? You were crew chief for the Bush car for a while, right? For Wimmer.

Wimmer was the driver for a little bit. So it went from, I think, Booty. Yep, to me. Booty was my shot guy, went to the Xfinity. He left and then you followed the same thing. So we had an idea that Chris was going to be just fine and be all right. Man, now look at him. You have so many freaking titles.

Let's just start, man. How did it like get to like where you are now? I just, I mean, everybody's like Chris Rice is the social media guy. He does this. He's the vice president operations. He runs. What do you do, man? Yeah, I just run in.

the entire Colleg racing side of the business. We have a lot of businesses that I'm in with Matt, you know, and we were talking about this just a minute ago about I'm fortunate to fly with Matt. He's invested or involved owned outright over 84 businesses, and I'm fortunate to be in some of those businesses with him. So I don't just do racing, but I do run the entire race inside of the platform. And, you know, that is my passion. Racing is my passion.

But the charter business is a business now, and this RAM deal is a business. now. Shoot, the social media side of it is a business now. So a lot of it's a business. And but I am the CEO of that. And when he named me CEO, I was like, what difference does it make? Right. We're racers. Who cares about that? But when we did, it changed how we attracted people, who we talk to, how we do it. We're building a program with a lot of people, a lot of levels now. You know, we have Ty Norris, which has been a big help to us to be able to do that. He's, he's fitting in perfectly what he's doing at collie racing um dan pitman is another guy over our partnerships we

have a big business we're right at 200 people now which people don't believe you know it's crazy five buildings we need to get it under one one building so um i just do a lot and it does look like i do a lot i do uh i got home a little earlier than you did because i get to fly with matt but um i do i do a lot and and it's a lot of fun you don't work a day in your life if you enjoy your job so I haven't worked. Like I tell you, we do a hobby for a living, right? So it's kind of hard to, like, be upset on many things.

So it's, man, it's, the transformation that I've seen you go through on all the different types of things, I'm like, why all of a sudden this social media stuff, Chris? Like, where did all this, where did this come from, man? You know, because you're everywhere now. Yeah. Well, I'll give you a little secret. Dana White changed my life.

changed my life about the social media, changed my life, changed our life as Colleg Grayson about it. And you're right. And what's so funny is he was right. He was, everything Dana White said was correct. He says,

you're going to have those haters out there. Don't read the noise. Don't look, don't listen to the noise, don't read the noise. Do the things that people love, right? And you said it. You see it.

You look at it. You said smile. Like you said it. You see it. And it's working. and that's a key. But, you know, Dale Jr. realized that real quick. Yes. Look at Dirty Mo Media.

Like, everybody when he did that probably laughed at him. They was like, really, Dale. It started out as like a side project. Yeah, I'm going to mess around. You know, I'm going to do all these things. And, I mean, it just brought him really. Well, there's two things that brought him out of his shell. But this was the first step that brought him out of his shell.

But, yeah, I mean, it's, you know, you're always smiling, man. And you always smiled when we hired you. It's just like the guy just is happy. And everyone's like, well, I's so happy. I'm like, well, that was kind of one of my questions for him. Like, you say you do a lot. And there's always something going on. And you're always looking like you're having fun.

So what would you say are like some of the elements or like some of the things that do make that fun for you besides, you know, just being passionate about it? Yeah. So my mom and dad are big supporters of mine. But I also have two beautiful daughters that are supporters of mine also. And that's what makes me smile. I get to do this and reward them with other things. I don't get to see them. I got to see my mom and dad for about two minutes this morning because they helped me with some stuff I had to do this weekend.

And, you know, they're the ones that I smile for. My dad didn't get the opportunity to go and be a crew chief and travel because of myself and my brother. And he sacrificed for us. And I talked about this in a Gazette, Virginia interview I did. And he sacrificed for us. So I get to smile because of him. I'm doing this. He gets to still live.

I mean, he's still living at the age of 73 or 74 now. So he gets to see this. He gets to enjoy it. You know, he gets to, and I smile with that. And then I smile for our race fans. Our race fans are why we get to do this. I've made a heck of a living. I'm not going to be a, it's not going to be a secret off a NASCAR.

You know, when we talk about this, NASCAR, I've made a heck of a living. I've had houses. I've had cars. I've had boats. I've had everything because of NASCAR. So I smile for our fans. I told you guys. I was at Sonoma.

I go to the merch trailer, the RAM merch trailer every week to meet people, sign autographs, do whatever they want. And a guy walked up to me and he says, you saved my life. You changed my life. I've lost over 40 pounds. I'm headed toward the 50 pound mark. I follow you

every day. I watch everything you do. You change my life. You saved my life. And I'm telling you, I got cold chills come across me. And it just was like, oh my gosh, people watch this stuff and they live through me. So I got to keep smiling for them. We have bad days. Yesterday, the 10 car was getting rid beat Denny Hamlin.

And we had a staring pump, a steering rack, blow a seal out. We lost it. But you know what? I'm still going to smile because we had the opportunity. We had the opportunity to be there. We had the opportunity to be doing things that we love. Yeah. I want to speak to a little bit about the Ram Race for the Seat Show, obviously.

I stayed pretty locked into that with a lot of our car store guys being on it. But I'm working. Do you want to be on a show next year? Are you doing it? Yeah, you want to drive? I'll drive. Your drive, would you be in the show? That would be so awesome.

Do we have to go through, wait a minute, do we have to go through your mom or your dad? She's got a PR person. Who? Who? You got a PR person? Yeah, Tommy Baldwin. I think we should take a vote like when you post this. Should Carson be on the show?

Wait, I need to talk to, I don't know if, can I go on a ramp? That's why I asked that. That's why I get nervous. My Chevy family. My Chevy family. We do have to talk to some people about that. That's why I asked. Let's talk about the RAM program.

Yeah. It was a huge. huge, look, I've been part of changes probably seven, eight times of manufacturers, stuff of what we had to do over the winter. And you guys got thrown to the wolves. Why so quickly? Because you guys have, you guys had to sacrifice performance by doing what you have done this year because of the speed that you guys had to bring up. Was it the marketing side that was pushing you? Was it just like, we have to do this now? How did all that go down?

Because you guys are just starting to build new trucks, correct? Yeah, that's right. So you guys had to go and you got to buy all these used trucks with all these teams. Trade your O'Reilly's cars for trucks. You had to do so many things, you know, behind the scenes just to show up at Daytona. And like, just swallow your pride a little bit, right? Because you're a competitor, right? you guys want to win races, but just explain why.

Well, I'll explain that, and then you can get back to Ram Race for the seat because it makes sense. And you know this because you're a racer. But the regular fan, like, you don't understand it, what we went through to do that. We did have to give up performance. We knew that it was going to eat us alive internally inside. And it still does today, right? Like, we have a guy by the name of A.J. Almendinger.

I don't know. I think I've heard of him. He has a lot of fire. Yeah. And so, but we were going to die, like, as a company, like, right? Like, because you can't not have OEM's big support. So we were going to die. So, like, how do you do it, Tommy?

They're not knocking the door down to come in our sport. And we knew that us and two other teams were being talked to, you know, and we knew that there was a possibility we still could lose it. And I was nervous. I wasn't sleeping. I worked on this deal for three and a half years, three, three and a half years. I mean, it wasn't just an overnight thing. And I was worried.

And every OEM kind of, I don't, they are always, you know, it's a lot of process. It's a lot of people they got to talk to. And it took a long time to get it done. It started out as three trucks, Tommy. It was going to be three trucks, two O'Reilly cars and two cup cars. And we had a plan, how we were going to do this and all that. And it ended up at five. And it was like, I mean, excuse the language.

Oh, shit. You know what I mean? That's not the worst cuss word we've said on here. Oh, my gosh. Oh, boy. But Matt would have 10 trucks out there if we allowed him. So we did. We gave up performance.

You know, we have no OEM support in the Cupside, but we do have RAM. So, you know, when we talk about that, I've got to be clear. We do have RAM. And in the truck side, we're building every single thing, the SIM. We're doing all that with not even building new trucks yet. We have a first new truck that should come off the body plate this Wednesday or something. looks like it's going to go to Richmond with Justin Haley's looks like. We thought it would be Michigan, but we couldn't get it done in time.

So we give up that, but we know what the end game is. And it was all marketing. It was all marketing. They picked the team that would be aggressive marketing-wise. Social media. Social media. Selling trucks, doing things like that. You know, I had a funny one, and I got to tell us, I was at Michigan.

And I don't get in a competition near much no more, right? And you know you look back on your life like, dude, I fought with people. Thank God they didn't have cameras. back there. Oh, yeah. Sorry, Carson. Like, thank God they didn't have them. Like, they got cameras now. So you've got to be very clear. And this guy was so upset at us. So upset at the team. So upset at us. And he says, you should quit doing podcasts and worry about how fast your trucks run. And I said, well, first off, I don't do podcasts. And I think we outrun you today. And dude, I'm telling you right now,

that told me that dude is, even though he don't like us, he's watching. Yeah, they're paying attention. They saw it. So maybe he'll go buy a ram, you know. And so is all marketing. And, you know, You asked a question. I'll let you ask it. That's why I wanted to roll into because it started with three trucks. Now all of a sudden we have some ideas, right? Yeah. We got some ideas.

Ram, race for the seat. Yeah, I wanted, I just kind of was curious where that came into like, you say, three years as a whole of kind of just the OEM planning all that part. Like, when did the show come into it and kind of how was that process? And what was it like getting it started under wraps? Like that was a big secret. I love to tell this story. So I get this text from.

the Nate, the guy at Ram, and he says, can you meet this guy? Can you, and Ty, meet this guy Wednesday? Yeah, sure, he sends a picture of him. I have no idea who he is. Couldn't tell you anything. I'm a racer. I grew up in South Boston and a trailer house.

I don't know, I don't know any of these people. This guy shows up. He lived on the same side as Ward. Yeah, I don't know if you're going to see his twang, but him and Ward. I'll get out in a minute. The more we get going, yeah. We're only in the first part of the show right now.

This guy shows up, and his name is Crick, Pellegian. He started Lionsgate. Do you know what Lionsgate is? Where they, where they go. Yeah. I'm in the movie on the screen. Yeah. Still had no idea. They walk in and they have just like what you have here and they gave us this. They said, hey, we need 15 race trucks. We're going to take them to Las Vegas and we're going to do a reality TV show. I looked at him and I go, no, you're not. We don't have one. And another thing, you can't test them. And he's like, what? And he literally sit there and this is a month and a half before the show started and bawled it up and threw it to the side and he says, what are we going to do? Month and a half before the show thing and I,

cold sweat again. I'm like, uh-oh. Ty and I're sitting there. First thing is, let me text my mom. I said, I need five racetracks. Can you help me with this? And I, that day, we sat in there for two and half hours and we looked at how we would get the drivers to where we need to get them. Okay. And then we started working on it. We'll go to South Boston. We'll go to Ace. We'll do this. We'll do that. I love dirt racing. So we did it almost like the dirt weekend. We seated them, just like they do it, heat races, and then you gave them brackets. And you let them race inside the brackets. And we came up with the point system was the best thing ever because then you know it's not cheating. The guy that wins the points wins it. And what we taught them and what we learned

is that it's teaching them life. I had no idea they were going to take their cell phone from them. I didn't know that part of it. I didn't know the TV side of it. I just knew that we needed to figure out that it didn't look cheesy and shady and all of that stuff. I didn't know that I was going to be a commentator. That happened the first episode. Like we were at A Speedway and we're standing up and they said, just comment about the guys. Craig Pellegian sitting behind us, he goes, well, don't y'all be commentators? And I'm like, uh-oh, I've always wanted to do this, but not on a reality TV show where

we're judging the kids or young men. And we came up with it, Ty, myself, Matt Colleg was involved every single time, 15 days. 20 hours a day, straight, right after the season was over. When we got done, I actually caught the norovirus. I was sick for three days. I was down and out. I had to have five IVs. It was bad.

But it was a lot of fun. It come from marketing. It worked. I think they told us two weeks ago, they have had over 30 million eyes look at it, you know, views and stuff. So it's actually where many Tyreel won it. Did a really good job. It was very dramatic at the end.

We gave $50,000. through the winner of the money race, which was huge for Carson Ferguson. Yeah. And we've actually raced him. We'll end up racing him three times. So, yeah, I actually got more than that, right? I think that's the other cool thing about it, too. Like, with, you know, there was one winner, but there's been so many, like Carson,

or Carson host far, Carson Ferguson getting the opportunity, even though he didn't win the show. Like, I think it just created a environment where even though any of those kids that were on the show, they now have a open network of people that they wouldn't have had before, maybe. That's right. And we had to pick them and Tommy knows this. And it was like... How did you pick? Like, what was the process?

So we gave him 35 people that would be, how do you put it? So we gave them 35 drivers. Tommy's son was one of them. And the producers actually went through and looked at these young men on social media. And what they did and how they would act, who they would talk to. They actually narrowed it down to 20, gave us the 20, and then they actually interviewed them. And we're going to have season two. They're going to do it again.

You know, they'll interview them. And then they'll bring them back to us. you think about these guys? Will they wreck? Because we have time in the day is all we have. Exactly. You can't be tearing. You can't be clipping late model stocks at South Boston. You can't be doing anything. And if it wasn't for Marcus Richmond, I got to give Marcus Richmond, huge credit. We hired him to do the late models. We blew up an engine at VIR. They changed out a car in 21 minutes. We got a whole other car put together, put the number on it in 21 minutes. Mini Tireel broke a rear end at Carraway. Less than 15 minutes, we had a number. We had a

another car on a racetrack. It was unbelievable what Marcus Richmond done. And I got to give him so much credit. I know he's struggling on the racetrack right now. But what he did for the TV show to help us get through that was huge. Obviously, he got support through RAM with us. We gave him support. You see it on his car each and every weekend.

And I actually put many in one of his cars this weekend. It didn't work out too well. But maybe what it will do is help him in the future. Maybe not right now. Maybe he's seen a problem that he has that he can fix and get better. Because you know, it's waves, man. It's NASCAR. Dale Jr. is winning every freaking race on Saturday right now,

but it's going to come a time that he's like, well, I'm not not winning. I don't know when that's going to be, but I don't think it's going to happen in my lifetime, but it's okay. Before we get to Sonoma, I want to ask you my question. I'm just sitting back and absorbing all this. Your leadership style.

My day job is in the corporate environment, and I've noticed that everyone who I work with, manager adjacent or above, if they lead out of fear, you never get the buy-in of your people. If they don't accept the falters of the people that work underneath them, no one will ever want to go to battle for them i see you lead with positivity i see you take ownership

of mistakes that aren't yours has that always been the way that you would present yourself to those who you're trying to kind of join you and the overall goal and vision of the team would you say that that's your style and how you love to operate uh no i i i was um i was pretty closed-minded for a long time i'm not going to lie like i was i was uh i didn't understand i needed engineers i wished I got them 50 years ago. At Bill Davis, I remember when we got our first SIM program and they allowed me to run it, right? Like I do have some engineering background, but no. And what I did learn, when Matt Collick gave me a chance to start his race team, I was like,

I have to understand business. How did that dude sell gutter protection? Gutter protection. Now, just to protection and make a billion dollars. You know, how did he do that? And I just started listening. How do you do this? And in NASCAR, we used to go.

to homestead and worry about who was going to get laid off, right? Like, we did. I don't worry about about if I'm going to have a job tomorrow, what am I going to do? And I lead, what I say now is I lead, I'm not job scared. Let's work, not job scared. Let's work that we got a, we got a plan. We're going to go win a race. We're going to go win that day. We're going to do that. But also, I got you on my back. If you have my back, I got you. If you make a mistake, I got you. I'm not going to go out and say, you did it. You know, what I'm going to do is I got to, you on my shoulders and Matt Collick's always had me on his shoulders and that's the way I leave with our team. We have a lot of young kids, right? And they don't understand that. And hopefully

when they leave us and go to a Hendrick or somebody else or wherever, come here. Hopefully you become a Hendrick. That's what you've got to tell these guys, right? We want to be a destination. But they all think they need to go somewhere else. We all did. Right? I left Petty's to go to Bill Davis like I did. I walked in that day because I wanted to go to Bill Davis because of Ward Bird and Tommy, all those guys. I thought I needed to. You know, Petty's was an awesome place, but I left to go there. And we actually picked up speed. I built Tommy Shocks when I never, I will never forget this.

I always think about this, and he'll remember it as soon as I'd tell him this. We had, he had Joe Lags and myself, and we had a competition in the shock room, and he loved it. He thought it was the best thing ever. He thought it was awesome. Because it makes you open up your minds, right? And I had brought some ideas to it. And they, so we would, on one car, we would put shocks on it, and we would just try them back and forth. Sometimes we'd run Joe, sometimes we'd run mine.

It didn't matter. And so at Bristol that day, they were good. The 22 car was super fast, and they were running in our shocks. And I won't never forget it. We had just started putting what they call slip bands on them. And he put those things on, and Ward picked up, I don't know, a 10th at Bristol qualified, like in the top five, running into top five, Dale Jr. Rexham.

Yeah. And we had had a crappy year. That's why he threw the stuff at him. It wasn't about Dale Jr. As much as it was, he finally was going to have a good race. He finally was going to do good. And he threw it at it. So my leadership come from the things I learned the hard way.

I was in the grandstands that night. Right where he wrecked in three and four. Love it. I didn't love it. You might have loved it, but I didn't love it. He was going to win that race. Yeah. He was going to win at race.

Him and I talked privately a lot. He's a special guy in my life. That a lot of people don't understand he's an amazing person. He's a great dad. He's, you know, great racer, aggravates everybody on a racetrack and that's what you want, right? Like, you want people to, but they just kept asking him, what are you going to do next year? What are you going to do? What are you going to do?

So at San Diego, I'm like, all right, I'm going to be. available for any media person to talk to me about AJ's contract. And I'll tell you everything. So I cleared it up. AJ's contracts through 29 with the option through 32. Where the caveat is, he gets to decide when he's done full-time racing. But he's still going to drive after he's done. He's still going to be part of us.

He's still going to be a mentor. He's still, you know, like these young drivers come to Dale Jr., they got Dale Jr. to talk to. We need AJ to be able to have somebody to conversate with. The many tire rails, the Butterbean Queens, the people like that, that we're going to have run through our race team, and AJ will always be part of colleague racing,

and he's a, man, he's one made us. I know you touched on the problems that Ty had in the 10 cars, so that was unfortunate. Tommy, how did Sonoma go for you guys? Terrible, like always. I heard you got called a shitbox. Man, we weren't very good.

We struggle there. Can I take up for Tommy a little bit, though? If you want. Cup racing's not easy. No. So when you say terrible, tell the guy that ran the, modified race and won it, which could have probably been your son, so I shouldn't say that.

But tell him to come and try to do what the 51 car does that weekend. You can't do it. You can't. No, it's what everybody says. We've talked about that plenty of times. Like, you've brought that up about, I mean, even just things people say about Cody or whatever, like that. He don't suck.

No, he don't suck. You can't suck and get into a cup car and be fine. I think a lot of these people that are coming into the sport, these drivers do realize that after three, four races. You know, it's just, it's just, again, we're kind of in the position you were in before you guys made the decision. Right. We're the second half of the manufacturer information, right? I mean, we're in pretty good with RCR. I'm not going to lie, right?

We do get a lot of information, but we're always a little bit behind, right? And Cody doesn't get all the information he needs to be better, right? It's not available to them. They're not allowed to give it to him, right? He's not a key partner. It's just like, so you're always behind eight ball. And that's probably one of the, like you said, one of the reasons why you guys are developing all that now, right? with Pratt Miller and all the things that you guys are doing. So you guys are in the middle not only racing,

not only building your team, but you build an only infrastructure at the same time, right? These other, like when Ray got started with Dodge years ago, he had time to start all that, right? He had time to build all that infrastructure before he. And we didn't have SIM then. Right, either. Well, they had SIM, but we had SIM back then.

Yeah, but it was way less complicated than it is. It was. It was just the machine was starting to roll. That's right. It was just going, right? But look, it's, and you're not going to be bashful. It's going to tell everybody and you're going to be honest. It's going to take years. Years.

But you race these cats, right? Like now, the RCR and those guys, like, we always talk about, hey, what can you do to help us? Like that's what we always used to talk about. They don't have that guy right now. You know, so yeah, with Cody, it is. You have a tough time. But it's hard. Carson's looking at her right. She's supposed to be texting over here.

No. She's got notes today. She's like, she's ready. I really had to step my shit up. I usually just stood over here and let Freddie just poke and prod and bother me until I have something to say. Yeah, I'm the new guy here. Before we get in the spot on, spot off, a couple things from Sonoma.

What a wreck for Austin Green. Holy hell. He literally knocked the wall down and turn 11. I've never seen a car hit there that hard. hard. We've had hella hard hits lately. Yeah, I wonder what happened. Left rear, I asked his dad yesterday. David Green is his dad,

which is our safety guy in NASCAR. I don't know if a lot of people know that. I asked his dad yesterday. The left rear brake line was rubbing the wheel. Busted brake line. Lost it. Lost it. Pretty fast area. RCR helped him out, gave him a backup car to

run on the race on Saturday, so that was pretty cool. A lot of wrecks during the O'Reilly race. Cars off track all race. But how about Viking Motorsports with Alfredo and Retzloff. That's really impressive, both cars on the top five. And it is because they get a lot of information now from RCO. Why are you grinning over there like that? Well, they might be some of Chris's old cars. That's why he's probably winking, but I was so happy. Yeah. Yeah, I talked to some of the guys and I had Lenny Chandler, my guy. I was like, hey, check what cars there are. Those two cars, AJ won about six races in. Yeah. Those two cars are still good cars. And it makes me feel good that we were able to sell something and it was able to work for him.

That's why I'm grinning and laughing and winking. That Parker's good. That Parker's a good little racer and hopefully he gets a really good spot. But yeah, he's a good little racer. And it's just cool to see somebody like Viking. I know that guy. I know he's spending a lot of money. Hopefully he can stick around.

So yeah, it's cool to see. Cup race, Tyler Redick, number one seed in the bracket challenge. Already gone. There goes my pick. Power steering issues. I think a lot of people's probably. Yeah, ends up finishing last, tough day for them.

Did he lose the points? Will he, too? By one. So that gave Denny a chance. We'll talk more about Denny later on. Briscoe chased down SVG at the end, but seemed to run out of time. I know a lot of people say SVG

kind of toys with these guys. I don't think he was really toying with him there. I don't think he wanted Briscoe on his bumper in that last turn. No, they weren't as good as they normally are. But imagine if SVG was in the 19 car, what would have happened? Oh, my gosh. Those are Toyota's so badass.

I mean, I told him, yesterday. It looks like they're soaking tires every lap. And I know they're not. I'm not sitting here saying that you heard it here first folks. But they run so doggone fast. Oh my gosh. Right now it's just like, and it makes all that drivers mad inside the car. And I don't know if you you guys talked about after the race. I think the 54 and the 20, do you think they caved in him and just said, man, he's probably going to win. So let's go for points. Because I think if the 54 had the did the same strategy as SVG. I think he had the best car all day, him and the 20.

Where is it 54 at in points? I mean, he gained, he won two stages, right? But I think, do you just think that everyone's like, ah, he's going to win, let's just go for points? Yeah, that was weird. Yeah. He didn't need the points. Yeah.

So when we, when AJ hit Kyle Larson, passing Kyle Larson, he bent to to Toline. You know how easy it is in a rear? So we killed our race cars. So Trent Owens changed his strategy, and he and I talked about it to gain the points in at one stage, which then kills the race. Yeah, right? Like, because then you're, we're mired back there where you came back. Well, it didn't kill the 54 and the 20.

They got back, but I think he could have easily won the race. Yeah, I mean, they changed. Like you said, I think he could have looked back and said, man, I probably should have changed my game plan. When going into the last, the first stage at the end, SVG tried passing him, burned the shit up. the 54 left them, man, I would have been like, man, I think I got a chance to win this race. Do we gamble and say,

or did Toyota as a group say, you're going to go for points because we're going to need? Who knows? You don't know what those guys do because they always have game plans, those guys, but it's like very seldom they deviate. And they might have had that game pair because there was fast enough drive back through the field.

Yes, but did they give up the win? No cautions. I know. I had a caution they probably would want it. Right, but it's like at the end of the day, So it's like, you look back, it's like, man, the 54 probably would have won that race. You talk about SVG and them not being that great. Like, they haven't been that good this year.

Like, right, we were fortunate enough to have SVG. That dude's a racer. He knows and understands. So he'll get them better on the road courses. But he, last year, I think he dominated by a bunch. This year, it was a struggle to win. 54 probably gave him the race. You know, 19, probably that pit stop actually hurt them.

They had a little bit of a pit stop that got them a little bit far behind that probably heard them. And I mean, do we call Chase Briscoe a road racer now? I mean, at Sonoma? I guess you could. I mean, thank you by her. He did a good at walking's glist. He does.

He does. Yeah, he does. You don't talk about him because everybody else overshadows him. And I think he made a point of saying all the information that he was provided when he first got to Gibbs, right? He's, I don't, I think he said his best finish ever in a road course before he got there was 23rd or something. He's like, I had no idea what I was doing.

I said all the information I get, what I get, the process, you know, everybody, you know, data-wise and everything I looked at, the SIM, everything just made me a better road course race. Yeah. Yeah. Some other notes we want to get to. I mentioned bracket updates or the bracket challenge upsets. We talked about Redick. Todd Gillilin, got the best of Suarez there as well. And we'll say that Denny beating Ty is an upset, too, considering what happened last year.

And we had him beat all the way up until, it probably don't even show it, but Ty was going to finish 20th. They did a really good job, and then we blew a seal out of the staring box. We were going to beat him. We had him beat. But that was cool for the bracket challenge. They did a social media deal. Our group was ready. Our group is so awesome.

I got to give them props. Our social media group is awesome. But, yeah, he beat us. So it was upset. That's what makes the bracket challenge fun. Mine's already busted. I had tied to win the whole thing. I was taking a shot.

Now, Danny's going to be hard to beat now from here on out. You think? Yeah. He's going to be pretty tough. Some news and nuggets. sad story that came out of the flat track world. Dan Bromley passed away after an on-track incident. I follow that series because you could watch it on flow

and just really unfortunate evening there. They did finish the night of racing, so... What do you think about that? The accident happened in Heat 2. It seemed pretty evident that it was pretty bad, but they decided to continue on with the night. And I think that's... Especially in the motorcycle racing world,

whether it's Supercross, flat track, AMA road racing, that seems to be the mentality. Yeah, our Rick Ware program. they have pretty successful in that thing. And I was watching it with our guy, Robbie Benton, during that whole time. And it's like, I know they all got everybody together, right? They had a meeting and what to do. It's like, you know, at the end of the day, it was an overall decision of what needed to be done.

So thoughts to him and his family. But I believe they're going to DeCoyne next week, the one mile. So that's going to be a rough weekend for that group. But really sad story that came out on Saturday night for him in that group. In more unique news, a new investor, Legacy Motor Club. I'm sure the catering is going to be a lot better now. I thought that was AI. When I saw the Facebook post, the Guy Fierry was joining Legacy Motor Club, I literally thought it was AI, but it's real. And I think that's cool. I think, you know, that group

has a really unique business approach of what they're trying to do. From a business approach, like, what do you think that's going to do for them? Like, I know, like, having somebody, kind of similar at how 2311, obviously, as Michael Jordan, Guy Fierry's obviously a little bit of a different lane for that but like what do you think from a marketing perspective or hope to see that that might do for them yeah but well we have an investor in our charters and you know having investors is good now I don't know what their approach is I think their approach is so different because having got got very far as however you say it sorry I don't watch that part of my life I was weighing it when I was saying it I have no choice fury I don't just if we say it different every time that's fine too but you know that you know the way

they're going about it what is it I would love to sit down with jimmy Johnson and and say hey what is what is your thought process here? I love it. Yeah. I love different. I love being different. You know, they have a different hospitality at the racetrack. It's unbelievable. We have, we have a partnership with Cambersy and RV, and we just did a deal with those same guys, and we'll talk about it a little bit later. I almost messed it up. To do our stuff in 2027, I think, is our next year. So, you know, I wonder what are they doing, which is cool. That's a cool thing about NASCAR. Now, it's not just. on racetrack. It's off racetrack. And we, we, again, very early in what we were trying to do before Charters, I brought a group of business people that we handpicked.

So basically, like, Guy Fiery is another person whose career in NASCAR that you took on and started. But we, there he is, right there right there, but, um... Dude, I miss those spoilers. But we, uh, so much. Yeah, we, we met in this, in, uh, in Manhattan and a guy was

a guest speaker for us and he cooked, you know, he did a special thing, kind of like what he did a little on social media the other day, but, uh, yeah, I met him. great guy. I got to see him, I think, twice a week at 10.30 at night when my wife turns all his show is on. He's got about three or four of them.

So, yeah, I get to hang out with him all the time. You ask me to watch some at 1030. It's going to be Bahama Island. That's right. Next time I'm in the cup garage, I'm going to try to sneak some food out of the Legacy Motor Club. Amen. Jordan Bianchi, the athletic reports that Dodge could move to the Cup series as soon as

as 2027. Who should we ask? What's the tea, Chris? What's the tea? What's the tea? Well, I'll tell you this. We would love to. we would love for Dodge to do it, but they have not committed to do it yet.

Some people claim that they're the number one podcast in NASCAR, but, you know, we can, we can argue with that, right? Are you talking about Denny again? No, no, no, no, Danny's, he's way behind us.

Freddy's not on here, so we're not talking about Denny. Why? Because people don't understand. Why, you can just, what is the hold-up? Yeah, so engines let a hold up. In NASCAR, you're supposed to have, you know, your engine in a car. Well, when Dodge, that, The only reason Dodge left, guys, don't many people know this, is they didn't have an engine. If you remember back, Penske went to Ford. Pinsky was building the engines. They had no engine.

They had nowhere to go. They were done. And then, you know, through the businesses, you know, I want to say this. Tim Kineskis is the man. Like, he's a guy that makes it happen. He is the one. Tim Kineskis is awesome for bringing RAM back to NASCAR. You can do RAM because they're Elmore engines.

They're spec engines. you can do those. In NASCAR, in Cup, you have to have your own engine. So engine is the biggest problem right now. Are we working through it? I actually had a call on here. You probably better see it on TV. That was about engines when we were going to go.

That's what the vibration was. Because I got to meet with them this afternoon. So engines are the problem. Are they coming back to NASCAR? I can tell you on this show right now, Collegraising, Matt Collie, Chris Rice. Everybody, Collegation, would love to have them back. Yes, immediately.

Fast as we can go. Get them in the sport. It would be great for the sport. It would be great for Chevrolet. It would be great for Ford. It would be great for Toyota. More people in here trying to sell cars would be great. But the engine is the issue.

So, you know, it's been people reaching out. I can do an engine. Man, it ain't that easy. Yeah. It's not that easy. Also, the free agent program, got a new driver for North Wilkesboro. You're bringing Ryan Newman back. We've been thinking about getting Tommy to crew chief.

I think he won night one, Hershey were one night two. I think you're right. The cool thing about that is Ryan Newman coming back is cool. Got a lot of play on that. Ryan Woltz to do it, right? That's exciting. All these guys have wanted to do it. Jamie McMurray wanted to do it.

He quit after the race. We were going to have him do another one. He's done. He's not racing anymore. He said, I'm done. And then we actually have a couple more that's going to be cool. like that I'm excited about as much as I was about Ryan Newman and other people. We've got some cool ones coming up that's going to do it.

I'm going to try to fish them out of you during ASC. He beats me up about let's put Ward in it. I'm thinking to myself, Ward don't want to get in there and race against these things. You know what I mean? So it's like, but we do have some cool ones coming up that's going to be fun. And it's been hard to get these guys to do the free agent program because we're not ready. They know they're not going to go out there and win. So they've actually took it on their sleeve.

and helped us with it. You know, Jamie helped us with it. You know, Tony Stewart helped us with it. All these guys have helped us with it. Corla Joy is now driving for us. He's helped us with it. So it's been fun. Yeah.

You have a couple different personalities driving for you, right? I mean, I mean, I got two late-mile guys. I got a meeting with tomorrow. That's going to be fun because that two late-mile guys at racing against each other. And those guys are so competitive. And I love Butterbean Queen. We've got to give him big props.

He's given himself too much pressure. Then I have the quiet Justin Haley that nobody talks about, but he's always one of the best. He always makes his way to the front. Then you have Corley Joy that's over the top. What spring are we running in the right front? Why don't we run this? Why don't we do that? You know, which is fun.

And then you have, you know, mini Tyrell that he can't spell Darlington. He thought we flew to it. He didn't know. Like, you know, we getting ready to go to Lime Rock. He's like, where is that at? Like, I mean, you know, I mean, and fair, like, right? He only goes to South Boston and those places, Langley, all that. but he only knows the car store's schedule.

And don't forget about our cup side. I got Todd Dillon, one of the nicest humans you're ever meet in your life, awesome to be around. And then I got my main man, the one and only, A.J. Amending. So those personalities are a lot. Full-time job alone with that. Yeah. Spot on. Spot on. Did you want to go first on this one?

I think he's a whiny bit. That's what I think. Send it. Why me? All right, well, we'll get into a little bit of spot-on, spot-off. Here's some opinions from the weekend. First topic, after winning Sonoma, SVG sits 14th in points, but he will not make the chase.

Spot-on, spot-off. Eric, what do you think about that? So I was listening to tear down on the way in, and I'm probably off on this, but I'm going to say spot-off. Now, the math and the stats tell me that I'm wrong, because his average finish on road course is 8.3. Every other style of track, 20-second or worse. I will say, though, this year, 6th at Atlanta,

11th at Phoenix, 14th at Darlington, 11th at Martinsville, 11th at Charlotte, 5th, in Nashville. We've got two drafting tracks, three short tracks plus Loudoun and Indy, left before the chase. He's kind of really carrying the banner for Trackhouse. I mean, Ross is still probably about, I think, eight points or eight spots behind him in the chase standings. I think SVG is motivated and looking at some of the guys

that are trying to get up there and pass him, like Ross, like Joey. I just don't know that they're going to be able to do it. And Atlanta and Dayton are just such wild cards. So I'm going to say he's going to make it and hang on. I'll go out on a limb there and say that. If I'm right, I'll go back and clip this and share it again. And tell everybody that you're a... And if I'm wrong, I'll try to suppress this.

But I'll say spot off. Tommy? I mean, if you look, I mean, AJ's closer than I think, huh, Chris? But if you look 17th on back, who's going to beat him right now? Who's on a hot... The only one that's really on a heater right now is Eric Jones. and I think he even out did his road course racing like when he ended up, 23rd. So I think Eric Jones is going to be the only one that's probably going to give him run for his money.

It's going to be tough, man. Brad Kay, I mean, he just gets, they constantly get themselves in trouble, man. And, you know, AJ, you know, you know, Chris, how hard it's going to be for what you have against you. Joey's struggling. McDowell, I think, is too far back. But he's, again, he's a good plate racer. And that's, man, it's, I think he's got a shot. I think Preece had a really good last two couple weeks.

Not bad for a modified short track racer in the road course. And he gained his points back. What did he lose? 25 of 50 when he lost a penalty, 25, I think. So he should be. So you're a spot off that he, that's, I'm spot on. I'm spot on. Spot on for the topic or spot on?

I don't know. I'm spot on. He's making the points. How many weeks in a row is, yeah. I don't know what is spot on. I don't pay attention. Go ahead. Next.

I hate I didn't get to talk about SVG. I thought that was going to. Go ahead. He's going to make it. He's going to make it. Two things. That dude's a racer and he knows how to conserve tires. And we're going to a lot of places you've got to conserve tires.

He'll be just fine. They'll go into points mode and it'll be just fun. Do you think they'll, throw all their resources into him now. Like, I mean, like... Because you know doing that hurts them. Yeah. I think they'll do the same things.

He'll go in points mode instead of trying to run better. That's happened in the past and it has hurt people. Yeah, it hurts people. He'll be fine. He's going to make it. And clip this and play it when he does. We'll clip both Eric... Period.

And Tommy going, I don't pay attention. I don't pay attention. I don't know what's going on. He never knows what's going on. It's probably because he has his tortoise shell. He must be down to the last pack in his glasses of... I do. He's got the tortoise shell ones today.

They sneak a color in there when you buy the cheetah prints. All right along. Tommy, I'll refer to you this one first because I know you love Carson H. spins Denny Hamlin sending the number 11 from seventh to the tail end of the field. This is just another classic host of our move. Spot on, spot off, Thomas. Spot off. Come on.

So you don't think it's another classic host of our move? No, it wasn't his fault? Did you watch the video? No. I won't watch the video. Basically, it was a chain reaction. It happened. Oh, I've seen it.

A couple cars back. I was going to let you break it down. Yeah, I mean, basically it happened from a couple cars back. And, unfortunately, the 77 was behind the 11, which ended up spinning. Yeah, but the 11 actually got hit before he got rigged is why he got him back there. Like, if you see it going in a corner, 11 checked up for the guy in front of it. And he got hit was fine. Yeah.

I'm spot off also. But the problem is, you know, when you're involved, what was the stat? Carson has impacted 34 of the drivers this year with incidents that either he started or caused. Yikes. But when you do that, and it is a racing incident, you kind of lose benefit of the doubt. So if you're judging that one wreck in a vacuum, no, I think it was as much of a racing incident as it could have been. And Denny, I think, was given room to the car on the inside. So when Carson got freight trained into him, he was off center on the bumper and it just sent Denny around.

For once. Yeah. But he's still going to be judged on a curve. because of the totality of problems that he's been presented in, and that may come back to Biden when it matters most. He did try to spend the 20 out. Oh, yeah. If y'all want to do spot off going out of the hill.

Yeah, I mean, and that's another one where it's like, it's still your, I know you're getting pushed, but it's still your front bumper, and it's kind of always your front bumper, and that's just not going to continue to work out for him in the law of averages as the season rolls on. The law of averages, he's still way ahead. Nobody's really done anything to him.

true. So people can talk all the shit they want. Well, something, I know we're going to get to it, but something may make that more possible. And I know we'll get into that a little bit later in another spot on spot on spot off topic. But you know who he races good, AJ Almondinger. Yeah, you know why? He ain't going to take no shit. Because he's afraid of him, yeah. He does. He races A. AJ well. A.J. Wail. They race each other super, I mean, great. Like they really do. I like Carson. Carson helped us in our rally car. I actually like Carson. I don't mind the way he races

because my dad always told me if a green flag's out, you're racing. The green flags put away, you're under caution. Now, if he rakes you under caution, I disagree with that. But, like, yeah, I don't mind it. And I'm with you. For my position, I don't want him to change at all

because I don't have a dog in the fight. I'm just calling the races. He makes it exciting. So, Carson, keep doing you. I'm a sponsor that little, what's that barmer car he has? The Crown Vicks stuff he's there? I'm a sponsor. It's going to be a smiley face on the hood the next time he does it.

I don't think so. Again, I just feel that. SVG that day, Saturday was really good and they just ended up going for the points and they knew Connor could drive probably back up to second and that would be it. But I don't know, man. I just, the nine car was really good on Saturday. I think he was just playing with everybody. And they know that. I mean, it's a group, right?

They know what's going on. They can look at things and do things. But no, I don't think so. I think Connor had to, I mean, unfortunately, Connor's problems happened way before the race, right? he didn't qualify well at issues, right? So, no, I think he was a second place car, and that's where he ended up. Yeah, I agree with you. I think, you know, again, listen to Teardown, you know, Bianchi said one of the cup drivers

texted him and said, this guy is just toying with us. This guy being SVG, I think he would have found a way no matter what the strategy was. I know he only won by under five seconds. Yeah, he started. Yeah, well, he started letting off because he didn't want to get involved in the lap traffic there. Yeah, so I think if there was any way that he had to be on a different playing field than what Connor was there, he still would have found a way.

Yeah, I agree. Yeah, he wouldn't want it. I've been with SVG. He was playing with him. It's fun to watch him do that. He played with Kyle Larson at Chicago in our car so much. It was hilarious to watch. Gosh, it was funny.

Well, I mean, he's so good at it. He's probably got to just, like, you got to make it fun. It's better than running away. Exactly. Like, it's... What you see from up top, though, what the free speed,

we call it free speed where it's not wearing on the car, you know, wearing the tires out and stuff. You can see. where he just gains without doing anything. If I was a young racer, I'm studying those feet yesterday. Yeah, but so much. We've had Ryan Blaney. I know.

Emerson sat here. They're like, we can look at all the stuff we want. You got to do it. They've got to be able to feel it in your butt. Like, he fills it and, yeah, it's weird. It's weird. Another pitch strategy that didn't work out, Taylor Gray, running out of fuel, literally off turn 11 and going from,

he was running fourth at the time, 29th on the last lap, that hurts. I don't, was it strategy? did you or did you just didn't get it full? I'm not, I'm not sure. I don't, I don't know if they just didn't get it full or what. How early did he? Well, I have a secret for you guys.

I can't watch those races because I'm scared that I would ask Matt to go build some. Yeah, build one. So I just, I go back and listen to you guys to talk about it. Yeah. Tommy's over rubbing his face. It's safety. So I'm okay with safety. But we lose those bumpers to put them going to another racetrack. That's what Tommy's doing. Like, we only have seven cars. But it's for safety. Christopher Bales, Rex, scared me so much.

So I'm going to say spot on for the safety, spot off for the team losing bumpers. I don't know if I can do that. Yeah, you can. I mean, yeah, safety is number one. But I don't know. I'm not too sure about restarts and what's going to happen. We don't know. You know, what's going to happen to our radiators and the duck work?

Hey, the way AJ hits people, it'll be folded in lap two. Yeah, yeah. Like, he don't care. Yeah, you don't mess with AJ? Yeah, he don't care. Yeah. So we'll see. Yeah, it's going to be interesting.

But you understand what I'm saying. So we have to cut the bumpers up and you can't take it to a racetrack that you've got to have that in. So you lose that. That bumper is only nailed just for short tracks. And for some of the racers, they don't hit people. So they might take that race car to the next racetrack. well, they got to take the bumper off of it. They got to change it.

And those cup cars are so easy to build. I say easy to build. I didn't say easy to make perfect. But you can build them super fast that if you find a good car, you can leave it together. We have seven cars in our inventory. Yeah, that's it. So our road course car can easily be our Atlanta car. Well, our San Diego car is our North Wilkesport car.

I can tell you that. The car, AJ finished fifth with that San Diego will be his North Wilkesburg car. So they're interchangeable, but now we have to do more interchangeable. changeable things. Yeah. Which kind of takes away the good thing about the race car. Yeah. So that makes sense.

But safety first. I want to be very clear. Safety first. If that's going to help safety, safety, I'm all for it. Yeah. I'm curious to see if it allows the opportunity for someone to move somebody without having to knock the absolute hell out of them.

And that would be the only thing about this car that the bumper is lining up, I understand. But because they're so rigid, I mean, we've seen it when someone tried to intentionally wreck someone like Austin Dillon at Richmond a couple years ago. you have to hammer them so hard that it even stops the momentum of the aggressor. And I think that's one of the reasons why we're seeing the style of racing as aggressive as it is, because it's really hard to get paid back now without hurting yourself. Well, I mean, she's raced.

You know that strap that they put on? That's why they hit them so hard. They put oxygen to their brain. So it's not going to change that. Not, I mean, they're moving them. They'll figure out how to move them. If need it be. They need be.

I mean, these cars are just stuck to the racetrack. But to your point, they won't have to do it so aggressively. Like, they're still going to find ways to move them, but it's less hopefully of a bumper car. Just remember, the car is still not going to move. Yeah. So they got to hit them just as hard. It ain't about the bumper. They're going to have to hit them harder.

They're going to have to hit them harder. Because it's soft. So it's actually backwards. The reason they hit them so hard is the car doesn't move. It doesn't slide. They have such a big, wide tire. Yeah. Yeah.

That's why they hit them so hard. It's not about the bumpers. It's about how the car is so stuck. That makes sense. Right. So now they're going to hit them harder. Like it's going to be a harder hit. There used to be an art to moving people, and we still see it in late hours. Because they were up out of the racetrack.

We see it in the other two divisions. These cars, the Raleigh cars, the trucks, well, the trucks hit everything including a pace car. So I'm going to go there. But, yeah, they're going to hit them harder. Well, we'll see at Wilkesboro. That's our first test of it, right? I think North Wilkesboro. Yeah, but that's a racetrack.

They door slide them. You know what I mean? Especially turn one, because you kind of run through the middle at a racetrack. They kind of door slide them. They don't really run in and hit them. there, which is going to not really... I think you'll see more people getting squeezed in the fence off of two than you will. Yeah.

Like Richmond, maybe you'll see it because they can run down in three and hit them. I think you'll see our problems like at Martinsville. Martin'sville, yeah, there you go. Yeah. All right, last one. NASCAR needs to find a way to get Chicago land on the 2027 schedule. Spot on, spot off. Tommy?

I think after Sunday, we're going to say, yes, hell yeah. I mean, this place is old. pavement, bumpy. Are you talking about Chicago the Big Oval? Yes. Okay. Yeah. Yeah.

I mean, I think, I think, and I think we're going to run into a problem, Chris, because I think a lot of people still pushing Chicago street course, especially what we just went through with San Diego. I think we're going to have a little problem because I think Sunday's race, I think Saturday and Sunday's race is going to be incredible. I think it's going to be multi-grove track. I think there's going to be a lot of passing. I think the tire is going to be right.

They had a really good test. I'm looking forward to... We wouldn't know. Was it test good? Can you send us some information? Man, you went to a test a couple weeks ago. We went to Andy. I'm ready to get to know.

Yeah, yeah. Don't act like you're not getting up. But I don't know about Chicago. But I think it's going to be a good one, guys. I really do. I think the fans are going to get a big show. That part of the country needs us. Yes.

They need us. The farmers in that area, everybody needs us. They're going to go Monday and going to go now. What are we going to do? Are we going to have both Chicago's now on the schedule next year? What are we going to do? Are they just focused to say this is just a holding place right now for this year until the Chicago, you know, the road course gets straightened back out of what needs to be done?

I'm just like, but could you imagine what it costs to put on the Chicago Road course, the San Diego Road course? Could you imagine? My mom was in the business, so I couldn't imagine. You have no idea. I mean, it's crazy amount. So Chicago needs us. Do we run?

And do you didn't ask me so I should shut up. No, go ahead. But I think they need to find a place for us to be in that area. I agree. It's like we talk about with other stuff, but, like, eventually loses its luster. Like, what you're saying with the street course and stuff, like, where do you kind of place that stuff? You know, and how often? Like, do you rotate it every other year?

One race. One race. One race. One race. One race. One race. Like, I think when you go to Bristol once. Because it packs it out because they know they don't have the opportunity to try to go again.

Richmond now packs it out. I remember going there not long ago. And it was seven people sitting in the grandstand. You know what I mean? So one race. Like so that one race, I think you'll be there, you know, going to Sonoma once. And I was thinking about the cars tour, watching you guys race. I think it's going to come a point to where they're going to have to do that with those things.

Because you go to Langley twice. Yeah, we're at a point now where we only go back to, we don't go back to any racetrack twice this season. But before it was we only went back to Wilkesboro twice because we would do all-star race and championship there. But we've gotten to the, and they're like, luckily we're having that happen because there's short tracks that are. opening back up in places that are wanting us to come and we only have 14, 15 spots on our schedule. But I like it. I'm a big fan of just going everywhere once. You get the best turn out. They need to go to that Wake County like three times because that was a heck of a show. No, no, no, no. Our competitors would not be down for that. My only fear on the Chicago land front,

sell out crowd. If we have a bangor of a race, is it going to be enough? Because we've seen like Rhode America had 100,000 people when they ran it on the 4th of July that one year and it still fell off the schedule. And it was a pretty good race as well. I know it's another road course, but Sometimes I don't necessarily know if the great race, the full attendance for something like this is enough. And I hope it ends up being if so. I do. I hope. But if that's not enough, then what is?

We need those type of race tracks. I hope after Sunday saying that. I mean, we're going to walk out and go, man, that was a good race. I think it's going to be. All right, DBC fans. It's time to react. All right. I'm pumped for this one.

I watched it on flow. I think we talked about this last week, like, with the San Diego road course, like the opportunity for, like, cars to end up in the water and shit like that. Like, I was, I've been thinking about it since then. What would you do if, like, that has to be such an unprecedented issue to run into that, like. Did you see the, uh, You were not buoyed at this time, just so you know. But they had a Darlington dash car that flipped in the pond on the back straight away at Daytona.

I remember that. I was spotting for that guy back in the day. Can't even remember his name? Couldn't tell you who he was. Good job. But you remember back then? They would just drag people. Like I was, I think I was with Hermie Sadler or somebody.

It was like, hey, you want to spot because I was spotting for Herman's like, yeah, sure, because we weren't doing nothing. This dude flips in the pond, you lose him. Like, he's upside down. You can go watch it. He's upside down in the pond. So you asked, what would you do? You just look at it. I don't know.

No, I'm saying if you're in there. Like, I would just, I feel like I would. Luckily, luckily he must have bottomed out right there and stopped. It got back out. He was in the shallow way. A lot of crazy stuff's been happening this weekend. I mean, this year with these short tracks. This right here was crazy.

I don't know if you've seen this. Look at this. He missed the whole turn. He comes completely off of it. They have so many different angles. Like, and this dude, big asses. He strove off the side of the mountain. Oh, yeah.

They say, you okay? He says, yeah. Oh. Watch it. They'll have another. It's another part of it coming. Hold on. You'll see it from the road here in a minute.

This is when they come and ask it. Looks like me on my way to be trying. Look, he gets all this stuff out. The guy comes asking me, you okay? He says, yeah. Well, why didn't you make the turn? I don't know. I don't know.

I don't know. Oh, they didn't show it. But they show it. If you go back and you can watch it. I mean, this dude takes off, dude. It's like. Like Duke's a hazard type. It's just lucky he didn't center a tree.

Look, he misses all the trees. Like, look at that. Look, he goes to the little alley. He didn't hit a tree one until the end. I had an episode like that once, but it was with the hauler. Ooh. I think I was 15, 16 years old, and it was just my dad and I, we raced, I think, I slip a riverhead, wherever it was. And we drove to Oswego, got in a service, turned a car around, drove to Oswego.

And he was war out. he's like well it's your time man you're gonna have to drive so I'm like oh shit so I got behind the wheel and it's still cold in spring heading up upstate and I thought I missed the exit

and I turned and I missed the exit and started going down the hill and all I remember is my dad's getting out of the backseat looking and I guess he visualized where I was hitting he's like flore it so I floored it and we luckily there was no trees I went down into the gully

up and back on the entrance ramp got back on the highway. With the truck and trailer? With the truck and trailer. You know what? Hell yeah, Tommy. Hell yeah. It's crazy.

You know, we had a first experience. We had a big truck run off a ravine with our race cars in at Ross Chastain. Neutranag solution was our partner. Yeah, it ran off the ravine. It was a, whoa. That was a scary season. I mean, scary sight.

Scary season. Geez, scary season too. Well, if you find any shit shows out in the wild, tag us or send them our way on social. during the week so that we can all laugh together. Go take me. It can't be Chris Rice. Moving on to AskDBC, Eric, I feel like I've been yapping this whole time.

If you want to take away a little Ask DVC, go for it. So, Chris, this is for you. What's been the most challenging part of colleagues inaugural truck season with RAM? Building the trucks. You know, we're behind on downforce. We're behind all everything. Just because you can't build them. I never knew that they hit that much in the truck.

truck series, fixing the trucks and stuff like that. Tommy's laughing over there, but they hit some stuff over there. And just getting the trucks built. It takes a long, long time. We was in O'Reilly for a while. You can put these things together pretty fast. You can really put the cup cards together fast. The trucks just take forever. I know we kind of tried to flirt with this earlier, but any other hints of who we could see in that free agent truck for the end of the year? Carson Ferguson and Marnsville. Happy that help. Happy for him. And we have a really, really, really cool one that nobody would thank for Talladega. All right.

And maybe Richmond. Tommy's over trying to figure it out. Hey, the only other question I have on that front is why you gave Tyler Rife such a shitty legend car on the show. Yeah, that. Thanks. I appreciate that. Or Tanner.

You know, it wasn't about the shitty car. It wasn't about the car. Would I just say? If you talk about my people, I am going to be mad. And that's what it was about. And that's my passion. They seen it. I was like, oh, after I did it, I'm like, oh, hell.

We met a production meeting afterwards because you had one before and after. I'm like, are y'all going to show that? They said absolutely. That was a great TV. Absolutely. And I'm like, okay, thanks. But it was about my people. You're talking about my people screwing up?

Of course. Like, did anybody, did anybody before that take one person take out all those cars individually and see? Yeah. A lot of people don't. A lot of people don't. No. So Butterbean Queen was supposed to do it every single week. Well, he was at Seema, and he couldn't do it there. So we had their normal driver do it. And like they all ran the same speed, but not the speed of those race car drivers. And it was a little off. That car was a little bit off. And it was a little slow. And it was, you know, but yes, we had one driver do it after that weekend or after that show. Butterbean done did every one of them and we got them way closer. We still didn't get them all the same. but I will tell you when it comes to the final race,

the 10 car, which Many won in, Carson Ferguson finished last in it. You know what I mean? And Minnie was like, that car's terrible, but he still won in it. And the 16 car actually won the big money, but we did have Butterbean do it after that, and that was good, that was good for us because Butterbean has a good feel.

He could make sure they all were the same. He actually was the one, Butterbean was the one convinced us to change the racetrack for the legend cars and put the chicane in it. I don't know if you watched it or not, but we put a chicane in the, race track because the legend cars were running too fast.

Yeah. They were running way too fast to put on a good show. And so when I got there, I literally did it with my, with my ram truck. I was driving it, trying to figure out, okay, because what you don't realize is when you have a road course, they have to have runoff. You don't think about that. So like we had to slow them way down to go up towards the wall. So that's why we did it the way we did it.

And we got some tricks up our sleeve for the next season, too. I'm excited that there is a season. too. I didn't know. So what happens to the driver that's driving now in that truck? It's a one-year deal. It's a one-year deal, and obviously we've talked about that a bunch. We don't know yet. It's honestly up to Tim Kineskas whether he wants to invite that driver back to do it again or not. He hasn't decided yet. I think he'll lean on us a lot whether we should and Dana White, because this show was designed after Ultimate Fighter. I don't know if you guys watch Ultimate Fighter, It was designed after Ultimate Fighters.

So they don't invite those guys back. So it's like we don't know. But it's a one-year deal. We tell them going in when they do the interview process, one-year deal, they make money. They make money on the show. They make money with us. They get a free ram truck to drive throughout the year. So, yeah, but it's a one-year deal.

Tough. Yeah, it's tough. Ram-tuff. But you're getting to do it free. Exactly. What would you do for your kid to be able to go run one full season free and put it on his shoulders? Yeah, I mean, we talked about that being on the show and doing all. all that. It was a, I got to be honest with you, we were 50-50 on it because I knew inside of everything

that was getting ready to happen and what you guys were doing. So I was kind of on, on the fence of it. To be honest with you, I was a little pissed off of you marking people because they got the wrong, my wrong, the wrong son on the information that they got. They didn't get, they didn't get Luke's information. Yeah. So I was kind of a little upset about that. Well, I told them all along not to put Luke on it. I'll tell you why. I thought he would make it as a racer and he didn't need the show. No, we, and we- That was my thought. Well, we had, we had a lot of discussions about that, um, with your people about that because I felt I was far enough ahead with another, another manufacturer that we were going to be okay. I thought you were to, and I knew that. I knew that

inside baseball. Yeah, so we weren't, I wasn't like worried about, I was happy that the work I did for Austin Beers and Michael Christopher Jr. I thought he was going to win it, by the way. Michael Christopher. I thought he was. Are you not going to run him at New Hampshire? Why? Why not? Who? Michael Christopher.

I can't hear you. Yeah. Okay. All right. One more asked DVC here. Tea. You're a passionate guy. What is it that energizes you and motivates you?

And to add to that, any motivational quotes, phrases, slogans, verses you lean on? Well, thank you for asking that. My health has been big. I was 340 pounds not long ago. I posted it not long ago. I'm super passionate about living my life longer, so I can see my kids and grandkids grow up.

And the thing that drives me the most is probably my support group. I have a huge support group behind me that people don't see my friends, my family, people that believe in me. And, you know, I do what I do because we have 200 people that I see them go buy boats. I see them go buy houses. I see them go do that stuff. And I want to do that every day. And, you know, I always push my health out in front of people's face, right, pretty hard

if you follow me on social media, because I was a big guy. I didn't believe that I could do it. I didn't believe that I could make it and I could make myself. My mom always told me I had big bones. Well, I realized my bones are not that big, just the skin around them was pretty big. People always say, you're on Ozimping. I'm not on Ozzympic. I do a lot of work, you know, gym, stuff like that to make myself healthy and push that in people's face.

I think doing that kind of stuff makes me a better leader. It shows that I have the passion to do something. So I'm doing some stuff with some gym groups now to try to help motivate them. I do a bunch of motivational speaking to people because, you know, I've been fortunate to be down in the dumps, to think I was going to make it out, you know, worrying about my job or doing things like that. So I can bring that to people and show them that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that you can do this. And yeah, I do have one slogan, and Matt Collick created this because Matt has a slogan. and he says make it a great day, like on everything he does.

He's like, you need one. I'm like, okay, he's like, well, you're always smiling. I want you to tell people to smile. When NASCAR, all the time you don't want to smile. So we started that, and I had, I don't know, I think I had 4,000 followers on Twitter or X now. You know, we're over 40,000 on X. We over 40,000 on Facebook. You know, we get a ton of views and all that.

And I do say smile at somebody. It'll change their day. Well, what that's created is me. like he's that's right like it's you if i smile at tommy Tommy everybody knows Tommy has aggressiveness right like people are scared of Tommy because it is aggressiveness but if I smile at Tommy he's gonna smile back or he's gonna tell me why you smiling right so it does change your life it does change things you know about people and I do I say smile how can they follow you they follow me C underscore rice one on pretty much everything or colleague racing all of that

I got to give props to all our media people coming up with great ideas to do things different. You know, we talked about this. And I'm telling you, live your life to the fullest every day, man. Kyle Busch, I remember talking to Kyle Busch at Dover, having a conversation with Kyle Busch and telling him I was proud of him by changing his attitude in the media for his son, you know. His son won at Tulsa. I had a long conversation about this is what it's all about. And, you know, we lost Kyle way too early.

And, you know, I'm not, I don't get super sad. bad about things because I think when I die, I'm going to be at a better place. And I think Kyle's up at racing and winning races and doing things. But this whole season for us, Collie Racing, we had in five years. We didn't do a good job for him. You know, you can follow me to change your life because Kyle absolutely what happened to Kyle this year has changed my life thinking about how I need to approach the next day. Absolutely.

If you're not feeling good, go get help. Go get help. You know, when I was Carson's age, I didn't care about nothing. You know, it was just go do it, go do it, go do it. run, run, run, run, run, run. And now I have to stop. My voice actually makes me stop. If I drank too many Tidos, I love Tito's and water.
