Door Bumper Clear - Why Carson Hocevar and Jeff Dickerson Are “Dangerous Together”

Episode Date: October 5, 2026

Jeff Dickerson joins Door Bumper Clear and doesn’t shy away from the lawsuit involving Spire Motorsports and why he feels like the team has been taking shots from every direction.Plus, Dickerson bre...aks down Brad Keselowski leaving RFK and why Carson Hocevar’s biggest improvement this year has had less to do with speed and more to do with finishing races. The crew also gets into Carson’s reputation inside the garage and whether his “I don’t care” attitude is completely real. And, of course, Reaction Theatre delivers another round of completely unhinged calls from NASCAR fans. From lawsuits and garage politics to Carson Hocevar being Carson Hocevar, Jeff Dickerson has plenty to say in this one.FVP Batteries: Don’t wait until your car or truck won’t start. Starting point is 00:00:00 The following is a production of Dirty Bov. This is the first time you've read the fucking sheet all year. A bird's shit on my head. That is what reaction theater is for. Getting hammered and calling in. What did they speak? Go. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:00:16 Wax and Crescent. It's going to be gripped up. Absolutely. These two idiots. Bubba did not do shit, unfortunately. Period. Period. Welcome to Dorp Upper Clear.
Starting point is 00:00:35 I am Freddie Kraft. I am Freddie Krabb. What? We just got done talking about what we got to start the show with. Oh. Oh, yeah. You get enough sleep last night? He's a little tired.
Starting point is 00:00:46 He's a little tired. Hang on, hang on. Let me try this again. This episode is brought to you by FVP. Today's vehicles run electronics that constantly strain your battery. FVP batteries are specifically engineered for today's driving, backed by nationwide warranty and trusted by the NHRA, Jordan Anderson Racing, Bomberito Autosport, and local shops nationwide.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Next time you're in for service, ask you a technician to test your battery. Find an installer near you at FVP Parts.com. Let's go now, Freddie. You're sure you ready now? You're ready? I'm ready. I'm going to have a tough show today. I say I'm ready, but I'm going to be in a bad mood.
Starting point is 00:01:21 You didn't bring up a good point, though, because I'm only on two hours of sleep, but I am two hours of sleep, not hung over. Yeah, not hung over. So it's a little different. It's a different motive for around here. But I am Freddie Craspotter for Bubba Wallace. Dean Thompson this week, also well-known cheeseburger. Seward. Yeah, what happened?
Starting point is 00:01:40 Oh, yeah. What was that text about? So, listen, William was right, unfortunately for me. Late in a race, I don't even know, two or three to go. He's running us now. We're clear by it straight away in every direction.
Starting point is 00:01:54 So we're just trying to get to the end of the race hanging on old tires. And running 15, 16th, wherever the hell we finished. Normal Dean Day. And the, I looked down 18s, two backs. We go off into one on my eye. two back 18. Well, at the same time, the 17 pounds the fence off of four, slides down, hits
Starting point is 00:02:13 the one coming to the white or two to go, whatever it was. So I'm like, oh, shit, look down, make sure they don't wreck. I look back and the 18's outside of us. And I'm like, oh, outside, outside, outside. So we kind of, I don't know if they ever made contact, but we abandoned, damn near ran the 18 in the fence. And I was like, oh, sorry about that. You were being a fan for a minute. No, I was watching them crash. I was like, oh, shit, we're getting ready of a yellow. I got to want to stop in front of the 18. And, uh, he was not a, he was not a I'm almost wrecked 18 in the fence. So it's fine.
Starting point is 00:02:40 You know, I apologize. I got thick enough skin. I can take a good fat joke now and then. I mean, I just hope we didn't fuck up that kid's chase standings at all. But Tommy, how are you today? Doing good. Doing good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:56 How was your weekend? It was good. It was busy. Yeah, we are at Newport Thursday, Friday with Jack, with the cars tour. And I had a good couple days there. And then I worked the rest of the weekend. You worked on? You work the rest of the weekend?
Starting point is 00:03:09 Yeah. On Saturday, too. Are you sure? I'm still slinging wrenches on my race cars quite often. No, I know he is. I'm just saying I don't, I think I saw him not working on Saturday somewhere. That was Saturday evening. Oh.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Where'd you go? Tilted. Tilted. Tilted. The tilted, tilted buffalo. Tommy was a tilted buffalo. I was tilted. I was tilted.
Starting point is 00:03:32 I watched a race and left and. Carson, how was your weekend? My weekend was great. Newport was awesome. I've never been there before. We made the decision to move it up to Friday to try to get it in, which I think that was a good decision. But the track was badass.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Like some of the coolest, coolest racing I've seen in a while. So I'm excited to go back. Next year when we go back there, it'll probably be like around my birthday weekend. So we should have a good time. Awesome. Jeff, you're right over there?
Starting point is 00:03:58 You've fallen asleep. Back in the hot seat here is somebody that has absolutely nothing going on. Very quiet. A couple of years for him lately. almost hardly hear from him anymore. Jeff Dickson. I found a secret about him. If you text him about pizza, he answers you back.
Starting point is 00:04:15 He's like a pizza guy or something. I don't know. That's right. It's emergency code. Oh, man. So how is things? How's everything going these days? Yeah, you know, nothing really going on here.
Starting point is 00:04:29 I was happy to just get back in the limelike. I'm on the door bumper clear and reintroduce myself to the world. That's usually why most people have to come on DBC Right, things start getting Good things happen when you leave here Yeah, we've been on a pretty good role here About getting guys wins and stuff So hopefully that works out for you
Starting point is 00:04:45 I did I just I want to cut to the chase I just want to get let's get right to your pretty boy driver Casey Kane's gonna drive for you guys That's like wow I was like holy shit we're doing this Did you guys just read the commercial Now we're already into it We were sitting so unfortunately
Starting point is 00:05:03 Luckily Luckily not everybody was fine but we hit a damn bird taking off the other day in the Gibbs plane. And so we were all kind of sitting back in the lobby waiting on what was going to happen. They were flying another plane back to get us and whatnot. And that's when it broke. And everybody was like Bell and Briscoe and everybody. We were all sitting there.
Starting point is 00:05:18 He was like, this isn't real, right? This is like some kind of AI or something like that. And then we're like, no, I think it's actually legit. You guys are kind of just branching out in all forms of motorsports. It seems like right now. Obviously, bought a high limit charter. You announced recently you're going racing with Nick Hoffman next year. Like what brings that on all?
Starting point is 00:05:35 where you just want to kind of, I know you kind of come from a dirt background, so I know it means a lot to you to get back into that stuff. But like what brings that on where you just kind of want to spread your wings as far as you can here? Well, I think, just like we did with the charter back in the day. Some of this is just getting on the ground floor of things and just seeing where they go, right? As you guys know, everybody knew that we were geniuses right when we bought our first charter and nobody said shit about us. Nobody said anything about that. But, you know, I think you just have to like make some bold moves, you know. When we actually, also when we kind of looked at the economics of the truck series, right?
Starting point is 00:06:09 I mean, that year we ran four, sometimes five. It's just it's tough. It's tough to make that go, right? So I remember going to our CFO when we were doing the high limit stuff. And I go, hey, I'm not telling you we're not going to make money. I'm just telling you we're not going to totally lose our ass, you know, on it either. Right. And so, but that high limit stuff is legit.
Starting point is 00:06:27 I think that dirt late model, you know, they're running for huge purses every, you know, every weekend. And, you know, let's be real. It's just like if, you know, you kind of tell yourself about, you know, it's like, hey, if I ever make it, this is what I'd like to do. Yeah. Right. And it's, it's something that we enjoy. I mean, the guys at the shop love it. And I feel like we're, you know, not totally selling out and giving back to, you know, what we all came from. Yeah. Is there, is there other series? I mean, is this going to keep going? Do you want to get another form? Is there anything left? I think you should, do you have a cars tour to you? we could try it.
Starting point is 00:07:03 I think we support some cards for our teams. You do, you do. I mean, you do have, like, you don't have, do you have an ARCA car or is it just all through PRG? Yeah. And then I know, like, Tristan runs late models for other guys. Matt Piercey and all there. I mean, there's modifies out there. I mean, you always get the modified world.
Starting point is 00:07:18 I'm working on a modified deal. All right. I'm just saying, I'm just making sure you knew there was other, you know, there's one, at least one more. Yeah. You can get some cards out at Millbridge. I mean, we could go, we can take this. Tulsa shoot out.
Starting point is 00:07:28 I want to, Tulsa Shootout. That's what. I mean, look, I'll drive for you at the chili bowl. That'd be fun. Me too. I'm not sure that you could fit in it. Jesus. You know the fat joke.
Starting point is 00:07:35 I'm a volunteer's tribute. You've run Choy Bowl. Yeah. You know, I mean, look, it's something we all enjoy doing. We're all going to watch it in the motorhome lot anyway, right? Yeah. But it's, but it's funny, Carson, when you say all that, it's like all the stuff, it's like, hey, you should do this or that. It's like, trust me, we look at it.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Oh, yeah. You know, and we want to help, you know, helping younger guys has always been in our, in our DNA and try to bring them up. and, you know, sometimes we look like we know what we're doing and half the time we don't. But it's been, it's always, it's always cool to see these guys make it and have their chance and, you know, or at least get the chance to do it. Yeah. I obviously don't expect you to go full Perry Mason here and get yourself in trouble, but where do you, where's your, obviously got a lawsuit going on right now? How's that from your side right now? How's it playing out for you, you feel like?
Starting point is 00:08:24 Yeah. Obviously, we can cut this too, by the way, if you need to. No, I mean, look, it's all public. You know, it's all public record. Look, the, I'll just speak to that then. It would just be nice to see some evidence. That's all, right? It would just be nice.
Starting point is 00:08:42 It's like, you know, as you guys, in this day and age, it's like it feels like we're just taking a lot of shots, right? Or a lot of bullets are coming our way. And whether that's stuff we're doing on the racetrack, off the racetrack, or whatever. And I'm here for it. I understand the game. And, you know, I say it all the time. That's just show business, I guess.
Starting point is 00:09:02 But I think we all remember how this lawsuit started. And I think we all remember all the allegations that were made. And here we are six months in, seven months in. And there really isn't anything. And so, you know, I just don't know how we're supposed to, you know, prove negatives. And I don't know how we're supposed to just sit here and take it also. You know, it's tough to just sit there. And like I said, it's tough to sit in court.
Starting point is 00:09:28 and you hear that you're all these things. And even when I'm here, I'm like, Jesus Christ, man, we suck. Is that us? Do we do that? Did we do that? And, you know, again, part of it, you know, obviously did that thing with Glock, you know, a few weeks ago, right?
Starting point is 00:09:41 And come on here. It's just like, we don't have the blow torch of, you know, like the JGR has, right? It's just like, I just feel like, there's plenty of media people that come to us and they'll be like, well, hey, isn't it? I mean, you hear these things. I mean, are you seeing these things? I go, I know what's fucking interesting. There's no fucking evidence.
Starting point is 00:09:57 That's interesting to me. You know, so it's like report that. But I don't know. It's just they want, they can, I guess this is just the courts in, you know, in the United States. I guess say whatever you want. When is it, what's your court date? Like, do you have a trial date or?
Starting point is 00:10:13 Yeah. I mean, it's in February. And again, this thing has been going on for for so long. But that's, you know, one thing that's just near and dear to me is, is, look, there's been 80, some odd third party subpoenas, right? Which is outrageous, right? I mean, essentially what they're alleging is the biggest conspiracy in NASCAR history. And yet, you know, that involves apparently, you know, Hendrick, General Motors, you know, Rick Ware racing, right?
Starting point is 00:10:41 Trackhouse racing, you know, all these guys that they said in court. And here we are. And it's just like, I don't, where is all that? Just where is it? And I'm here for it. I mean, if we did it, I'm here for it. We just didn't do that. And I just, that's what kind of sucks.
Starting point is 00:10:55 And so, you know, I said this earlier. and I'll say it again. I want everybody to remember every allegation. I want everybody to remember every redaction. And then when we get to court, I'll come out on the steps. I mean, look, my five minutes of happiness is going to be when I get to go on the courthouse steps and actually say what you really want to say. Say my shit, right? But unfortunately, after I got to pay the legal bill, so I lost anyway.
Starting point is 00:11:18 Right? But it's like, no matter what. Yeah. But that's really it, right? It's just like, you know, I guess that's our, that'll be our five minutes of fun. And that's that. But I don't, you know, the other part here just make sure that the whole industry here is, and I know I think Tommy and I've talked about this before, I am their ally in the trade secret thing. I don't want their stuff. And I don't want our shit out. I don't want Mr. Hendrick stuff out. But it's like, you know, I don't have, you know, Mr. Hendrick and coach have a really good relationship. And so many times through the years when I've been like, well, hey, we'll just go get this guy or that guy. Mr. Hendricks been like, no, no, no, we don't, we don't mess with them. Okay. So it's like, I'm not not trying to get. their stuff just because I don't think it's right. I don't want to disappoint Mr. Hendrick,
Starting point is 00:12:00 right? I don't want to have to get that call from him that says, because the first minute this thing got filed, Mr. Hendrick called, he's just like, hey, what's up? I'm like, I don't know what they're talking about. Like, we didn't do that. So I don't want to have to go back to him and be like, oh, by the way, I know you're like my dad. I've been lying to you for like, fucking 10 months. You know what I mean? So it's like, that's not what I'm, it's not what Spire is about. We're their, we're their ally when it comes to that. And I can't, I can't help them. I don't know what else to do. Yeah, I mean, it's, it's sad that this really can't be worked out, right, behind closed doors and doing things what normally men are supposed to be doing, right?
Starting point is 00:12:36 It's got to go through the court system. But look, at the end of the day, crew chiefs, tire guys, engineers, they have a fucking brain. And they can remember stuff, right? And you can do whatever you want to do. And look, it's like, I've worked for teams, learn. how to make race cars go fast with that team, have remembered and done everything, went to another team, applied it to that team, and made a difference or not made a difference. It's just, it's the nature of the beast.
Starting point is 00:13:10 I mean, back before computers and before everything, the crew chiefs had the notebooks, right? Right. We had the information. We were the ones that were doing all the work. So it's like you hear things, you do things, you ask questions, people talk to you about the things. It's like, I don't, the garage is really hasn't, hasn't changed in my opinion with that. I mean, no, and look, and there's, there's something, there's something fundamental about this case that I think
Starting point is 00:13:40 will be something for the whole industry to kind of learn from, right? Because I do think in a way, it does, it does have the effect of limiting, like, mobility between teams, right? Like what you're talking about in this sense, it's just like, you know, Tommy, you're known for a lot of things, but there's things that you probably picked up when you were, you know, from your dad. Yeah. That you still apply. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Well, that's, that's kind of like what we're, you know, some of this is about. And I don't know specifically that's what it's about, but it's like, just because you're at a team doesn't mean that you learned everything under the sun from that team. Exactly. And you can't go anywhere else. But, again, if we were talking about like real, I don't even want to say real, it's like, we're talking about real shit. If we're talking about like real arrow stuff.
Starting point is 00:14:23 If we're talking about real intricate things, like, yeah, let's have a conversation about that. You know, this is something, again, it's public. I don't, I think we learned how to seal an airbox when we were fucking 14. You know what I mean? Like, that's not a trade secret, but that's where we're at because there's nothing else, right? So I think those are the things we need to be careful about. That's why I think, you know, we had a statement a few weeks ago, which it's like, you don't own airbox. We know how to seal airboxes.
Starting point is 00:14:50 We know how to, or even to seal an airbox. We didn't need, you know, like, Spire was going to the race. I don't know if you guys know this. We were actually going to the racetrack before we got fucking suit. Yeah. Yeah, I mean? We were almost like winning races before we got sued. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:15:02 Like, but, you know, I'm not saying, just, it's hard sometimes to read these things and be like, God, man, maybe that's what people think. Maybe we are just a bunch of fucking bumble fucks that didn't know how to get to the track. Yeah, I mean, but, you know, what everybody needs to understand is the growth of your company and all the things that you've got done. And to understand that it's the second year for Carson, right? You guys built, no one changed, right? The core group of guys.
Starting point is 00:15:25 So they were going to get better. Based off the book of knowledge of the year before, you know, Carson's been to every track now, has learned all the stuff that needed to be done. You moved Ryan, right? You got him just focused on crew chief. Just so happens it was the time. It was right now you got Suarez with him. So now he only had to concentrate on one thing.
Starting point is 00:15:46 But, you know, he was running the whole competition side, right? So that team picked up a little bit. And you got McDowell doing the same thing. that McDowell does, right? The biggest jump year over year for the 77 has not been speed. It has been running all the laps. Right. That's, again, I don't think, obviously with some of the goings on that we've had with Carson this year too, right?
Starting point is 00:16:05 But it's just like, you know, up until a few weeks ago, he had run, he was like one of two guys that had run every lap. You know, so instead of us, you know, knocking the right side off of it with 40 to go like we did last year when we were leading or something like that, we were actually getting those finishes. And again, I know I'm preaching to the choir here. it's turning those 20th place days or 30th place days into seventh. Right. That's how we made the playoffs. It wasn't the speed. We've had the speed.
Starting point is 00:16:29 But you look at what Daniel did. And, you know, look, desperation is a funny thing, right? And, you know, you give them good cars and you say, hey, this is your shot. You know, like, again, it's like we're proud of, like, what we've done at Spire. Like, you know, I'm glad you said it's just like, this is, I don't know how many years, but it's like every year we've gotten better. And so it's like, you know, now it's a thing we're just like, we did exactly what we said we're going to do. And it's just like, no, that's not right.
Starting point is 00:16:57 Right? But again, it's not the speed. How many times did we give up races last year? I remember sitting here last year. It's like, how many races do we give up, you know, in 2025? This year we've been able to execute more. And for us, I think that's really, you know, what it's about. But, you know, you hear these, you know, again, you hear these allegations and you hear these setups.
Starting point is 00:17:14 It's just like, well, does somebody want to give the 71, the JGR shit, I guess, right? You know, it's like, and you hear like setups and setups to setups, it's just like, I don't know. I don't think they're, I don't think anybody's cars. Like, we have three cars. I don't think they're going the same. There's nobody going the same. I know. It's like, it's like you look at a front springs.
Starting point is 00:17:31 Let's use front springs. It's like, okay, well, what sway bar did you run? What was the setting on the sway bar? What was the nose weight? What were the cambers? Where was the, what was the arrow? What were the heights? I mean, there's so many things you can throw into there that, like, who cares what spring?
Starting point is 00:17:46 I mean, because at the end of the day, you know, you know, you have to have everything. Well, look, RFK, you know, and you guys, we all grew up in this garage, right? And it's an open garage, right? You can, you know, like even this week, I mean, I'm sorry, RFK. They were pitted next to us, right? Or during practice day, right? So, I mean, they take their right front off and you're just like, yeah, you could.
Starting point is 00:18:06 You know what I mean? We all do it. That's what I'm saying. We all can look at a thing and see what kind of, you know, jacking you're running. Right. And where's the shims? I mean, they're all store-bought parts. we all get in, so we can count.
Starting point is 00:18:18 We know how to count. We know how to look. That's right. And that's what I'm saying. Like at indie this year, like the 19 was in the, you know, in the garage or paddock or whatever we called it, Indy, right? It's like, we're all parked next to each other. And it's just like, we're staring at them and they're staring at us, right?
Starting point is 00:18:32 It's just like, it's just NASCAR. And that's where it's like. But NASCAR won't let us to every, all the team's defense. NASCAR won't let us cover. It's a rule. No, I'm with you. Right. But that's what I'm trying to say.
Starting point is 00:18:42 It's just like. So it's going to happen. It's going to happen. They do it. They do that for a reason because they want us, they want us to either tell on the competition or see what they got and get better. I mean, it's just it's always been a little bit of an open book. I mean, it always has been.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Absolutely. And look, the other thing here is like for us, you know, this has been the best motivation. Like, you know, I mean, I'm happy to joking about it. I know. He's such an asshole. I'm trying to figure out what next year's, you know. What are you going to do next year? board material.
Starting point is 00:19:13 What kind of trouble you're going to... This is also why him and Carson are like dangerous together too, because you're both are that way. You tend to get in trouble all the time. It usually, it just before was behind the, behind the... Not everybody knew about it. Not everybody knew about it. But I think that's obviously, like, as you guys all know, like during our agency days,
Starting point is 00:19:31 that's what teams would use us for, right? And it's just like, we took all the bullets so that they could sit there and stare, you know, go to the owner's meetings and be like, yeah, you're my best friend. It's like, yeah, no shit, because we're taking all your bullets, right? But it's, it's, you know, again, I'm really proud of what we've built. I'm proud of all the guys. It's like I do feel like we have like a super, super smart group of guys. And we take advantage of the Hendricks stuff as much as we, as much as we can.
Starting point is 00:19:59 As much as they give us, we consume, try to make it better, try to make it better for them. You know, so it's like this is what it looks like when it, you know, when it all kind of comes together. And let's be real. It's just like we still have a few steps left in us. Like, I don't feel, that's, you know, that's the other part here where it's like, I don't feel like we're in their neighborhood. I don't feel like we're doing everything. Like, you know, obviously you see a day like yesterday where they just, you know, Freddy, all the Toyota is just kicking our asses all, you know, all weekend. But, you know, thank God, a few of them had some issues so that at least some of us could go race for everybody, but the 19, I think. But again, it's just like we're, we're a really good group and we're not done. I mean, we're still, you know, I've got meetings today to try to see how much trouble.
Starting point is 00:20:40 I guess we can all get into. Yeah. I mean, if you think about it, you've had a core group of people that have stayed there for a lot of years now. I mean, you're only going to get stronger, right, when you do that, right? I mean, you just, you've put a lot of pieces together over the last four or five years to be able to execute now. And it takes time. Look, think about, you know, obviously you guys all know us as the race team now. I mean, I'm not sure everybody remembers about our agency roots and going back to the MMI days.
Starting point is 00:21:09 It's like, think of all the people that we've represented in that garage, right? Think of all the drivers. Think of all the mechanics. Think of all the executives. Right. It's just like, you know, we start calling them home, right? I mean, we've got a pretty deep, you know, roll-a-decks of people that we feel like our core.
Starting point is 00:21:25 I mean, Casey, Casey's another one, right? It's just like, it's just, we have a method, you know, to our madness. And I just think that I'm glad you bring up that core, because that core has been with us from the, you know, from the very beginning. And we just didn't. And we always had smart people. I always felt we had pretty decent drivers and we always had smart people.
Starting point is 00:21:44 It was, I was holding them back. Me and TJ back and they, we were holding back. We just didn't have any money. Yeah. Right? So, you know, I mean, just look how the truck team started. Explain everybody how to truck team started. I mean...
Starting point is 00:21:55 Yeah. The, um, so, um, Chevy, Chevy was talking to Gritian Bono about trying to put a truck out there to take on when Kyle, Bush, when he was out there in the Toyota stuff, to kind of like, would we be like the bounty truck? So we'd put in, you know, we put in like William Byron or we put in Alex Bowman and things like that.
Starting point is 00:22:17 But everybody thought that that truck was being run out of Hendrick Motorsports, right? But, you know, as you know, as Gritchie and Bono, they came to me and TJ who are, you know, again, two dumbest guys in racing. They're just like, hey, you guys want to do a truck team. It's like, yeah, let's do it. But we were doing it out of Bono's house. Bono's garage. But like, like, we'd win races.
Starting point is 00:22:35 And they're just like, oh, shit, another Hendrick. Look at this shit. Literally you guys. Out money in the whole place. And it's like, that's not how it went. We were actually doing it in Bono's garage and two or three guys. And that turned into, because we were running so well, Kyle and I were talking about how do we help speed them up.
Starting point is 00:22:53 And then that turns into us buying the joint and, you know, the rest of history. But again, I think if we're not as awesome as sometimes it seems, we're not like out money and things. It's like that's straight up days of thunder behind the, you know what I mean, behind the house. I can confirm all photographers in the room work for. us, so you don't have to worry about that. Nobody's... I saw a few out there. I was like, you look familiar. You're good on that.
Starting point is 00:23:18 I did want to add, like, overall, I mean, this is two cars in the playoffs, two each, you know, each got to win. I mean, no matter what happens in the last five races, is this a successful season for Spire? Oh, absolutely. Like, again, I think we're just ahead of schedule, right? And so we, we
Starting point is 00:23:35 certainly, our goal was to put two in, and we did. But, um, And I think there was a bit of confusion. Also, I think, you know, I think obviously when I was talking to Gluck and he was just like, yeah, well, Carson came in here and was just like, yeah, I'm not even looking at points. Well, really, the message we're trying to send everybody was just like nobody expected us to be here. Right. And I've said it's like there'll be a day when those expectations are placed firmly on our organization's shoulders and we need to meet that moment, right? That was not this year.
Starting point is 00:24:01 This year was just like, hey, let's go through it. Because like we've talked about, there's, again, there's plenty of guys that have gone through a chase or whatever format that are in our shop. There's plenty that have not. I don't think you learn anything until you actually go through it and see it. And I've been super proud of like, even like yesterday, you know guys are showing up to these races, you know, on full tilt. And, you know, like I said, at Darlington, I was just like, man, I just don't know if we're going to actually can meet it. And I feel like for most of this, Chase, certainly Bristol, you know, yesterday, we've got a bunch that are coming up that should be good for us. I think we've met the moment on speed.
Starting point is 00:24:36 Now it's just like your just mistakes get just so magnified during this, you know, this format. But you can't, you can't learn it if you don't go through it. And I think that's why no matter what happens, right. I mean, this year is a success. Creating a notebook for the future. This episode of Doorbubber Clear is brought to you by FVP. Look, today's vehicles put way more demand on a battery than they used to. Between onboard computers, stop-start technology, and hauling heavy trailers,
Starting point is 00:25:02 today's vehicles constantly strain your battery, even when the engine is turned off. Freddie, that's why FVP batteries are specifically designed to handle the heavy electrical strain of today's driving. Tens of thousands of drivers get stranded by dead batteries every day, and they rarely give you a warning before they die. Next time you have your car in for a routine service, ask your technician to run a quick battery test. It's no wonder top motorsports series and teams trust FVP. They're the official battery of the NHRA, partner with champions like Antron Brown and Brian Brown, and power Jordan Anderson Racing Bomberino Autosport in NASCAR.
Starting point is 00:25:37 Don't wait until your car won't start. Have your shop test your battery today and make sure your next one is an FVP. Head to FVP Parts.com to find a shop installer near you. That's FVP Parts.com. How would yesterday go? I mean, kind of not a ho-hummed, I don't want to say ho-hum day,
Starting point is 00:25:59 but just kind of as expected. Well, we didn't hit anybody. That's a good start. That's good. You know, we were fast. tires were an issue, right? I mean, when you look back on yesterday, there was that caution where about 15 of them stayed out. Early? Yeah. Well, I think it was, wasn't that the second stage? Yeah, it happened twice. Yeah. Yeah. The first time we hit it, the second time, I just, you know,
Starting point is 00:26:26 we're on the plane and everybody's kind of doing the whata couldas and should us. And it's just like, hey, I mean, we weren't going to stay out. You had, you know, Daniel was on the radio talking about a big-ass vibration. You know what I mean? lap after lap after lap and Carson's tire was coming apart. So that caution comes out. It's like, we're pitting. So it doesn't matter if eight of them stayed out or 15 of them stayed out. That was just essentially our day.
Starting point is 00:26:48 And then, you know, we had speed. It was just trying to, how do you manage your tire wear and go past guys? Yeah. But I thought the seven was, seven was better than the 77 until the last run. And then Carson got them, you know, and the 77 was super fast at the end. But yeah, it was just a thing. It was just a cup race. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:27:06 You just kind of grind it out. Tommy, I mean, how was it watching home? We were up and down. We had penalties. We were back and forth. So my day was pretty exciting. But like, how was it? I know the 19 essentially led the whole thing after the middle of the first stage.
Starting point is 00:27:20 I mean, how was how to play out on TV? I mean, if you think about it, he was really one of the only ones that really executed all day. I mean, the day was really filled with mistakes. Stakes are issues. Yeah, issues, right? I mean, you know, I think Dale Jarrett pointed out a big one was. the 11 electing the pit and giving the five his lap back. And that, again, put him...
Starting point is 00:27:43 What do you think about Cliff doing turns in the right front under green? Yeah, I mean, I don't... What a balsy name. I mean, yeah. And it worked out because they all stopped in front of them, and it gave the five as he gets a wave around. Yeah, but, I mean, if the 11... Doesn't pit.
Starting point is 00:27:57 Doesn't pit. I mean, again, what are you working towards? I mean, but you don't know if the 11 had a tire problem. You don't know, right? But I'm saying it was pointed out. And I don't think that pit stop, Cliff was expecting it to be as long as it was. Did you hear Kyle? Because I think before the pit stop, he told.
Starting point is 00:28:16 Yeah, but Cliff did an awesome, I mean, again, he's good because you mentioned before. He's been in these situations, right? Like, that's what you guys are learning this year, right? So next year you're going to be better. But Cliff's just Cliff, man. He knows how to keep Kyle calm, right? And look, I've seen, and I know Kyle was on a show up two, three weeks ago and up, but I've seen a different Kyle Larson the last month.
Starting point is 00:28:43 I have. I've just seen him, his reactions and the way he's talking and the way he's, he's just going out and become just worrying about being a race car driver right now and doing what he needs to do. But look, the 20 had power steering issues, right? The 54 had speeding issues, right? You burned your shit up, right? And a penalty. And a penalty.
Starting point is 00:29:04 I think it was really the only two guys that really didn't have issues was Blaney. And the 19, the rest of the guys just had just problems. And I said it weeks ago, I said the team that's going to have the least, the best execution through the whole thing, because there was a lot of problems starting to happen with Pick Cruz leading up to the chase, right? There was. They're still happening. So the two even had issues, right? He had a bad stop.
Starting point is 00:29:34 His fucking chase has been outstanding. Yeah, they've been super fast. Yeah. And I think, and I think at the end of the day, that's really going to help the 12 and the 22. Of whatever they got going on. Yeah, he's the fastest of the three right now. They found something, right? Kansas, he was super fast too.
Starting point is 00:29:50 Yeah. Yeah. What Austin is liking right now, I think, you know, Ryan and they're pretty smart race car drivers. They're going to go, man, just like, just like Hamlin said about a month ago, some other track, he wasn't very good at Darryor or wherever he was. He said, I got to learn how to drive like, I think it was Redick at this place. And he only did. So, man, maybe they're going to look at this and they're going to work.
Starting point is 00:30:15 And I won't count out those guys yet for the championship. Did they always show up on the bell rings, don't they? Yeah. What happened to the 54? He had a speed and penalty. Same thing to happen to him in the first race issue there. Yeah, because I thought, I mean, on Saturday night, we were all talking about it. I'm just like, man, I think the 54 is going to do it tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:30:34 He had the issue. Then they got there. I know we were going to talk about it later, but they got their right side or left side air pressures swapped on a pit stop. So like right to left or front to back? No, front to back. So they had one really bad run and fell behind. That's all it takes usually. O'Reilly race is pretty decent.
Starting point is 00:30:58 What a freaking race. We're going to get into some of the battle. I just want, like the thing that stands out to me the most about it is the finish on Sunday versus the finish on Saturday. Because I feel like, you know, we've talked about on here. You can, you have the ability to be way more racy. Like, you saw it with Brisco. Briscoe did a great job. Like, we burned our shit.
Starting point is 00:31:18 I knew we came out of pits and we were right there and I'm like, it's going to be hard to not get Bubba to burn a shit up here because like it's right there. You know what I mean? And you need to, you can't just, it's easy to say just ride. And we came out. I kind of put it in his hands. I'm like, this is the longest run of the day. You know, it's by five or six laps. We know we knew going in 50 laps was kind of the magic number of when you're going to start to see issues.
Starting point is 00:31:42 And it was 53 to go, I think, when we pitted. So it's. But I know you guys are listening to them. I mean, they were coming over to radio to 19 about lap. I'm not listening to shit. I can't. I mean, your team. But, you know, probably before halfway through a run every time within two, three laps,
Starting point is 00:31:57 Brisco goes, same thing's starting to happen. I'm getting really loose. I told Bubba, I said, you know, because we saw, we were, we were tracking him down before the pit stop a lot. And I said, just, I said, just, you know, manage it. You managed, you know, keep the pressure on, let him burn his shit up. And, and then, unfortunately, we burned ours up. Too hard. Too hard.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Just trying to get, you know, because I think if you get control of the race, like, if we got around him at some point there, we're gone. You're never going to see us again. But it's, you know, you know, it's just, it's the way, how do you balance trying to get control of the race? Because the longer you sit back there, the more of the five running you down. And another 45s run on us down like that. So I think that's the only way it was what I regret was not telling Bubba just sit here and wait for him to catch traffic because that's all we really need. You know, if we could just take care of it on the front side because we once we all caught traffic, it was like, almost like a short track race. 19 caught traffic.
Starting point is 00:32:49 We caught him. Then because we caught him, the five caught us. Then the five caught us. He couldn't pass us. The 45 caught the three of us. And it's just that's what I hate about this car is like it's all defense. It's no offense. Like it's just you run a guy down.
Starting point is 00:33:04 You sit there and let the next guy catch you. Then the next guy catches him while you're all stuck there until you can, you know, I mean, you hope the guy slips up, makes a mistake. And Chase has done a great job. Yes. He did a great job yesterday. James was getting ready to kill himself if he lost that race. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:33:17 They was showing him. He was ready to snap. But again, it's if when you getting these long runs, it, I know a lot of it's arrow. You can see it. I mean, you can just, but when you get in. to these long runs and the leaders start to fade, the field gets even on lap times, right? Because everybody's wore out, right? You just don't have anything left. And it makes it, you see it on the short tracks, right? You see the guys that are 25th on back. When the tireware comes,
Starting point is 00:33:48 they can stay right with the leaders. And the same thing happened yesterday. I mean, the tires were completely, completely wore out. And it was hard to pass more so just as much so for tire wear as it was, for arrow. So, um, again, I hate, Bubba had a chance. And I was like, I'm sitting here and going, if Bubba runs this run like he ran the last run and not worry about the 19, he's going to have a shot. And probably about 20, 30 to go. I don't know he, I could see him driving off better. I'm like, he's either the 19's getting bad or Bubba's trying. And if he's trying now, he's trying too early because there's way too much time left. And he saw it at the end.
Starting point is 00:34:34 The five car waited. He waited. He had one shot. He knew he had one shot to pass the 19, and it was the last lap. So you guys got to get better, man. Bubba's got to get better. It was pretty good.
Starting point is 00:34:46 I thought it was okay. We were, it was, what is that thing you have anyway? I was good. That's that for me? Yeah. I was, I mean, it's a, it was a decent day. was, I'd like that we took a shot at it. It's just, it was, we needed to approach it differently next time. And well, that's, like you said, live and learn. Yeah, man. And we'll be
Starting point is 00:35:08 do it again this week. We'll be, we'll be fast this week. So yeah. Um, but yeah, that was the, but that was the thing I talk away from it is just, you know, the how much those guys, Jeff, you know, watching these, exfittany, right, or Riley races, you know, I feel like these guys can manipulate each other. They can run each other down. They can get there. They can poke a nose. They can kind of move each other around with Arrow where we can. But how much fun was that race to watch. on Saturday night. I mean, that was the race of the year, I thought, right? I mean, just, you had those two guys just really going after it.
Starting point is 00:35:37 I mean, I just love how, you know, Corey's just like, oh, hum. I guess I just did it again. You know what I mean? Like, look, there is something different with the car, and it does let you do, you know, some things. It's just like, I'd just, again, just kind of point out, because it's easy for us. We fall into that trap sometimes. We'll talk about it. And we're just like, oh, I wish it was like this.
Starting point is 00:35:55 Just everybody's so good on Sundays, too. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like, everybody's over-engineered. Everybody knows what everybody else is doing. Got the best spotters. Got the best drivers. Got the best everything.
Starting point is 00:36:04 And you're just like, we're just going to be on top of each other. And those little, you know, little differences. Do you think that if we just took the X-Finity car, the or the car, put it on Sundays,
Starting point is 00:36:17 we would fuck it up. I think that all of us are perfectly capable of fucking like all this. Totally. You know what I mean? Like, again, you guys know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:36:26 It's just like you go to your shop. We go to our shop. It's like, you know, everybody's just so, you know, good. Even like the bad teams are really good on Sundays, right? Yeah, no. Put in perspective, right?
Starting point is 00:36:35 The Cup teams are ones that are winning all the Xfinity races. Now, if you get all the Cup teams running Xfinity races or O'Reilly races, you're going to get what we have on Sundays. But there is something to it, right? The cars are different. They react to different things for sure. You can get right to the guy, you know, also. And it doesn't feel like you stall out as much.
Starting point is 00:36:56 Yeah, that's, you know. That was the kiss of death for our right front was the one time he took a shot in the one on the bottom and Chase closed the door and I was like you're taking, as he did it, I'm like, oh, you're taking the bait. And because we do it to everybody else. And I knew it was coming. I knew Chase and Bubba raced the hell out of each other all the time.
Starting point is 00:37:13 So I knew I'm like, oh, he's here we go. And as soon as he shut the door, air off, we were plowing. I'm like, that's probably the end of our right front eye right there. Well, Saturday to Sunday also it just felt like yesterday. The bottom actually like went pretty decent all day, right? And it makes it where that top is just so far on Sunday. On Saturday, Corey, you know, the top was rolling. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:33 It just didn't feel like it was entirely there, you know, yesterday. Well, the tires are different, right? And they fall apart differently, right, when they wear. So there was, you know, like Denny said, he was one of the first cars that went up there. That's pretty, you know, he's pretty sure. That's why he spun out. I mean, obviously, Danny's got a lot of talent. He's not going to do it unless there's an issue.
Starting point is 00:37:53 He was saying it was tight the whole time. Yeah, yeah. So the tires, the way they. If you looked on Saturday, they were laying the rubber down, which when you're laying it down, there's less marbles, right? So the tracks cleaner and you can run up top. Same thing happened in Kansas, right? We talked about it, right?
Starting point is 00:38:08 The way the tire was wearing, the marbles were up there, and the top just didn't come in as it normally comes in. So it's more of a tire wear issue that we had between Saturday and Sundays for the grooves to open up or not. Yeah. Just quickly, Algear, where Alguire was in here, but he's. to go just wrong place, wrong time. Poor guy.
Starting point is 00:38:30 I can't catch a break. I feel like all had, we went into this chase and we were clearly like, Danny, Justin, Lane Riggs, you know, going to be hard to beat him. And I don't know that any of them are like anywhere. They've all stumbled. But that's the best part about our sport right now. I mean, it's just like, it's just, it's no different than any other sport, right? This guy is, they're 14 and 0 or, you know, and you get in the playoffs, man.
Starting point is 00:38:56 just people react differently, do different things. I mean, none of it's been Justin's fault. No. I just, you know, and I hate it because it's up. Well, I don't hate it. But for show, I hate it for Sheldon because it was kind of missed opportunity. Like he had to, he kind of had an opportunity to kind of put a stranglehold on this thing. If he can go out and run as he's been running and run top five and they just kind of missed it, they were, they were kind of back there with Dean most of the day, you know, running, I don't know, 10th to 15th.
Starting point is 00:39:23 So instead, I don't even know where they come out of there. what's the gap now 19 or 19 to carps and 30 to justin you know he had a he had an opportunity to put a really big strangle hold on it the one thing i thought was funny if i was if i was if i was spotting for sheldon um which i may be next year um the uh i would have told him to let the 17 go because the last thing you want is the one to win and he was kind of the one that was had the 17 pinned in there and the ones making the runs on him i'm like hey buddy like you know because if that i think carson's now or kate yeah carson's 19 back. If he wins the race, he's four back. So I'd be like, hey, what fucking let this 17 go win the race. Don't hold him up and let them to the one win. Because the guy you're going to end up racing for the championship, potentially. They're still going to have to beat the one. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:40:09 I think they're going to have to beat the seven. No, I mean, I know he's 30 back, but that's one race. You just go win a race. That's a 20-point gap. I just think Guapel has a year of experience ahead of this, of, well, not to seven, but you know, those guys. Together. And Rodney's... I just think he's the one, man.
Starting point is 00:40:30 Yeah. I mean, he's definitely been the... Him and Sheldon have been the most consistent, obviously, in the group, so... Yep, but other than that, Sheldon is going to... I saw a lot of people questioning that decision. Sheldon's going to Sam's next year. I will be spawning for him, as far as I know. Did you even... Are you just saying that, or did you... No, I haven't talked to Sheldon about it, but I think Sam told him I was spawning for him, and he didn't have any problem with it, so...
Starting point is 00:40:53 I mean, I know Sheldon pretty well. He just... It was a... point. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, actually. I don't think that was the case. I think it was the money.
Starting point is 00:41:01 It was probably the selling point. I mean, I see a lot of people giving the kids shit. And I'm like, you don't understand like. Who, Sam? No, uh, Sheldon, you know, because they're like, why would you do this? Why are you going from Haas to Sam's? And he's like, God, fuck, you guys, I want to make some money. Like, if you don't mind, I've never made a salary racing before.
Starting point is 00:41:18 Like, and this is what Sam's offering. So, and like, and like, like, same stuff is pretty decent. Yeah. Yeah. It's not like, it's not like, you know, the, you know, the, fucking Joey Gay's car. You know, it's like, I mean, we run, Dean can run 10th to 15th every week. Leave Joey alone.
Starting point is 00:41:36 Jeff's been there before. Right? I was using an example. As Joey Gaye's racing before. The toughest racing in the world was back there. Yeah, leave Joey alone. It's a good example, though. Sorry, sorry.
Starting point is 00:41:48 That's where you got to put. But, you know, like, we can run 10th to 15th. I think Dean's 16th or 17th points. like that's that's you know and that's good you know what's wrong with that it's and then at the end of the day like the kid just wants he needs to make a living he's got a wife he's got kids like you know and it's and Sam's a place where he can go sit there and you know and Jeff may know this sometimes these owners can be a little greedy you know like they get some money coming in they go they go they go hey we need a little more money from you now that you're running well you know like so
Starting point is 00:42:22 you know if if it's just it's I think it's more about business anything else. I think we could be sitting here next year one year from now. It's just like, you know, again, I think this is a big deal to have Sheldon and Sam's stuff. I think he's going to elevate it. I think the stuff is really good as it is. It's like, I don't, again, I saw that this weekend. Everybody's just like writing, oh, I guess Sheldon's this and Sheldon's that.
Starting point is 00:42:42 It's like, why don't we wait to see what this looks. And I didn't even know you're responding when I was saying all that stuff too. Now you're like, well, maybe they're not going to be that good. No, I think that I think that Sheldon can elevate that, you know, and I think that he's probably the best driver that Sam's had in his stuff and, you know, in a long-ass time. Yeah. I mean, you saw it a couple years ago when Corey got in Sam stuff every once in a while. He would run top 10, you know, like, and like I went there because first of all, I love Sam.
Starting point is 00:43:07 I love Chris Bowen. I went there to work Chris Bowen, the crew chief. And, and like, it's, there's, it's just a place where you want to work. You know what I mean? It's a place where you can go. I sit there. You know, I've had other offers from other teams this year. And I'm like, yeah, you know what?
Starting point is 00:43:21 I'm not really interested in leaving because I'm just comfortable. Like, it's a nice place to be. it's kind of like a family atmosphere and it's just, you know, that's what for what I'm doing on Saturdays, that's fun. Now I think it's a home run for Sam, you know, to get a guy like Sheldon, now you're going to know what your cars are doing.
Starting point is 00:43:35 You know, now you know, I got a guy the fucking point leader is getting ready to get in my car. Now we're going to test, now we know we got the guy that can show us, are cars good enough or not. And I don't think a lot of people,
Starting point is 00:43:45 I think a lot of people really think that like Sam's like a satellite JGR team. Like, he's not. He doesn't get a lot of help. I think, you know, hopefully he gets a little more now, but it's, It's pretty fucking independent over there.
Starting point is 00:43:56 And they make a lot with a little. The driver is pretty much switching rides. So we'll see how that gap closes. Yeah. And it'd be interesting to see you get to those Hoss cars because there's some interesting names floating around over there. What else we got from this weekend? Yeah, I was not to say, who are you hearing? Because, I mean, it's one of them is going to be really interesting.
Starting point is 00:44:17 It's not, I don't know that's actually going to be branded Hoss, but it's going to be a Hoss car under another banner. maybe Rick Ware racing And then I don't I would think that they're zeroed in on John Hunter for the other car But I don't know He might not have our opportunities I mean I hear him name
Starting point is 00:44:37 His name mentioned around that six a little bit So he's a guy sitting there with money So it's like you know where is he going to take his money and go I think is going to be the The choice for him But yeah there's going to be some Some interesting stuff over there And obviously Haas has their stuff
Starting point is 00:44:52 They're going to have the seed cars. Somebody, one of the other guys is going over there to run one of the seed cars. They got Clements. Clements was fast all weekend. He was, I think fast in practice, ran around the top five all day. So those cars got speed. It'll be interesting to see who gets in there next year and runs well.
Starting point is 00:45:08 All right. Is that all we got in the finally? Yeah, I think so. I think so. We covered a lot. I see Joe Gibbs Racing shutting down the rocker program. I see a lot of people celebrating that. I'm like, first of all, I don't think that's actually. I think Joe Gibbs racing is shutting down a rocker program. I think you're still
Starting point is 00:45:24 going to see a Toyota Arc team with maybe an up-and-coming driver's son driving former driver's son driving but yeah I people are like thank God. You're saying a lot of vague ass fucking shit today.
Starting point is 00:45:39 Like what's going on? What are you talking about? I'm just saying I thought we want to know. Yeah, we'd like to know. Well, I mean it's not very hard to see Keel and Harvick's got to go somewhere. Right.
Starting point is 00:45:52 I mean, I mean, I would Where's Max going? I would think. Max is my absolute favorite. I heard Max is going to PRG is what I heard. I don't know. I don't know if he's leaving Gibbs for sure, but I heard that. That's kind of what I heard.
Starting point is 00:46:03 I don't, again, I have no idea. I have no connection to Max. He'd be coming to the dark side over there. He fit perfectly with us. Oh, yeah. He's right up your alley. Yeah. Max Reyes.
Starting point is 00:46:16 Call Jeff. No media training necessary. Oh, no, no. We're just like, do that interview again? Perfect. Oh, yeah. Love it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:30 You fucked up. Anyway, go ahead. Let's get the hell in the spot on, spot off. All right. Did Tommy kill it? How many of these are Tommy kill? No, hey, did you hear him earlier? He said, we're going to talk about that a little later, so I won't get into it now.
Starting point is 00:46:42 He's on his shit today. Spot on. Spot on. Did you want to go first on this one? I think he's a whiny bit. That's what I think. Send it. Why me?
Starting point is 00:47:04 All right, first one, Denny Hamlin squanders his best chance to close the gap on Kyle Larson, spot on, spot off. He had a tough day yesterday. You know, I think it started right when you said it started Tommy when they decided to pit and let the five on the lead lap was the beginning of the end for him. Because they are leading the race. I don't know. It was probably, I don't even know how many laps it was, but it was, we were all kind of like our mind. my message was pit front row or pit like means if we wheel the front row stay out if not pit and two guys stand in front of us so we pit but i was the five was trapped a lap down and then he
Starting point is 00:47:43 put and gave control the race to the 19 denny never he got back to fourth on that run spun out the 19 never lost control the race from that point on so i think you just forfeited to control the race and to trap the one guy you need to be a lap down a lap down you know i hate to Monday morning spotter this, but, you know, it seemed like a mistake on their part. And then just a series spins out, probably had a little damage. I got to think the way it drove across the, you get the splitter dad, drove across the apron. So then it wasn't, you know, handling the way it did the rest of the day. He's running.
Starting point is 00:48:16 He's back to 11th in the choose. Some, I guess, fuel pressure issues and things shuts off through the choose. He stalls, goes from starting 11th to 24th. It's just, you know, just continually shooting himself on the foot yesterday. and it's you know they just keep digging this hole a little deeper and a little deeper it's Jeff as you know it's hard to yeah I'll never give up on Denny right I mean it's just like you know obviously you got you know this weekend could be a good one got Martinsville coming up you know it's like if he can just sniff it by homestead but it's like if they end up eight back
Starting point is 00:48:46 or 12 back they'll look at Vegas and be like you know that was the one yeah we had our shot and you know we gave it up right there but man that was a tough one because you look he's 40 points out. And that's still, I mean, it sounds like a lot. It's not. You know, if he, if, if he just wins two races and Kyle finished a second, that caps are raced. You know what I mean? Like so it's, it's, it's not. It's it's still five, six guys. Yeah. We're only halfway. You know, it's everybody's like, it's the last week was one. They were one of the show sheet was like, you know, is it over? If Kyle wins one more race, is it over? You know, and it's like, it's just, it's too, there's too many points at stake now to, like, it's going to go down to homestead just because of the, the amount of points you. can gain in any given race. And I got to be honest, I don't think the five is going to run top fucking five the entire chase. If he does, congratulations. You win the championship.
Starting point is 00:49:36 You earned it. It looks like that old 148. Yeah. I just showing up. That deal yesterday was Jimmy Johnson-esque, Chad Knauss. I think so. You know, we're just going to sit here on pit road, make a change. We'll figure it out later.
Starting point is 00:49:49 Like, how many times are the 48th spin out in the middle of a race and just come back? Oh, wait a minute, he's leading. You know, like it's just. But yeah, like... The group is good, man. Yeah. I mean, you watch them from the... Before the garage opens to the garage closes, they do everything as a team.
Starting point is 00:50:07 Just pay attention. They all help the tire guy. They all sort the tires. They stay until all the other Hendrik cars are through inspection. They are one solid group. And at the end of the day, it matters, right? Because they trust each other, right? They trust all the decisions.
Starting point is 00:50:24 They do everything. thing together. So, you know, kudos to Cliff for building that like that, right? And, and look, Ray Everham started that years ago. Like, you guys are going to be the first one at the gate when the gate opens. You guys are going to be the first one in line when practice starts. I mean, he started that. Then Chad did it. And now Cliff's doing it. So it's, it's important, man, at this time of the year for that. Period. All right. Somebody asked me this, Can two panes came up in the infield at Newport and asked if we could take a photo, but they wanted to do Crockett during the photo.
Starting point is 00:51:04 I was like, I love this. All right. Number two, Carson Cople should have made a lane change when he cleared Corey Day for the lead. Spot on, spot off. It is, I thought about that, but it's so hard. You haven't been running up there much, right? And it's so hard taking that gamble of doing it when you know your safe spot, right? you know where you've made the gains all day.
Starting point is 00:51:27 I don't, I spout off. I don't. If it's, if it's not for the championship, I mean, I would, I would have told him or suggested to him to run the top just to make Corey do something differently. Just because you passed him, he passed you back on the top. He passed him. He passed you back on the top. You got clear again, listen, just, but it's, like you said, it's, if you're not doing it,
Starting point is 00:51:55 You ran him down with the bottom. You got there with the bottom. You know, it's so hard to do it. But, you know, I would have liked to see him just make Corey do something different to beat him a third time. You know, Corey. But, you know, Corey's credit. And this is taking another way of Corey because Corey just let it all hang out. That was quintessential Corey Day.
Starting point is 00:52:16 If you ever seen him run a sprint car, if you ever seen him run anything, it's like, you know what? Like, he stayed off the wall in three and four until that last lap or two, whatever it was. and then he was just like, fuck it, I'm going to go for it and hope this sticks and bouncing off the wall, bouncing off of Carson. Like, it was just, it was impressive. But I think, like, if it was me, I would at least suggest, like, and leave it at the driver. Like, if the driver's not comfortable with it, by all means. But, you know, it's like, hey, you know, it's the same thing as if somebody's tracking you down. Like, it was, I think he tried to do it.
Starting point is 00:52:47 He couldn't run the bottom as good as Carson. But, like, somebody's tracking, if you're running the top and somebody's tracking down on the bottom, you got to take that bottom away and make them. do something that they're not, haven't been doing. Taking the bottom away is a lot easier. Oh, they're taking the top. They're going up to the wall when you haven't run there much all day. I just wish, and he could have probably just turned down and maybe cleared him, but as much as the 17 was struggling to run the bottom when the one was catching him,
Starting point is 00:53:10 I would have tried to make him beat me down there and just hope that I could get better. I hope I would have hoped that I could run the wall better than he can run the bottom. And I don't need to run the wall. I don't need to run the top as good as him. I just need to run the top better than he can run the bottom. and I just, I'm of the opinion of like, I want to see them do something different than they've been doing to beat me.
Starting point is 00:53:28 Yeah, but you know what your, I mean, his first time running the top was going to be coming to the white. You know what I mean? It's just like, you run the guy down that much. It's like, you know what works, you know, again, spotters, you know, again, we suggest, right? It's like, yeah, yeah, you should think about it.
Starting point is 00:53:41 But it's like, I think, you know, everybody could see, he ran him down on the bottom. He did all that. It's just hard to switch lanes coming to the white. It's like, what are we? Yeah. And I think the respect from added those two now, is going to go a long way with other races coming up.
Starting point is 00:53:55 I just, you know, I mean, it's just certain people you can race against and then you race them the right way. It's like, okay, I'm not going to mess with it. It was interesting how they side draft the hell out of each other, bouncing off each other, going down the straightaways, and then they fan out to their way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Come back.
Starting point is 00:54:09 Yeah, we're funny. Let's try to get each other. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, we're cool. And they've had issues, you know, throughout the year, at least the one car and the 17 had gotten together. I think him and Carson had gotten together at other times, too. and to see them, there was one time where
Starting point is 00:54:23 I forget which one of them got clear, but they went in the three, like, nose the tail tight, never really, didn't rough each other up, just kind of like tried to get there and manipulate the air a little bit. So it was good to see a good, respectful race and guys. I mean, it was, like you said, a race of the year. I mean, it was hanging on, bouncing off the wall,
Starting point is 00:54:40 made me take my off, what the fuck I was doing because they were wrecking down the front stretch. So you were being a fan. I was right. I wasn't being a fan. I was being a spotter. You got to call accidents when you see him, Tom. Unfortunately, I have to tell them when the yellow's out,
Starting point is 00:54:54 or when they throw the yellow when the yellow shouldn't be out. You eat in a cheese. What did he say? You eat in a cheeseburger. Put down the fucking cheeseburger. The funny part is, so, listen, so I see. What about that deal yesterday? What's that?
Starting point is 00:55:05 On the, is that what you were saying? Oh, yeah. I was going to say that in a second. But so I somebody sent me the cheeseburger thing. So I text Drew, and I said, did he really say this? Because I thought it was funny. And so he's like, yeah. He said, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:55:19 His radio wasn't working. Let me go check. So he goes back. He's like, oh yeah, he said it. He's like, I wish I heard him because I would have said it was a double cheeseburger. So anyway, so we were going over to gamble a little bit. And I was like, I got to eat something. So I'm walking through the, we say the Vodara.
Starting point is 00:55:32 So I'm walking through the backside into the Cosmo and walk by a place called naughty patties. And it's like like a burger place. So I'm like, oh, this really sounds good. So I get a burger. I open the box up. And there's just a cool looking box, whatever. And so I take a picture. I'm like, oh, this is fucking fitting.
Starting point is 00:55:46 The kids said it should be eating a cheeseburger here. I mean a cheeseburger. So I take a picture of it, right? send it out. I don't think anything else of it. It's the next morning. I'm like, wow, this got a lot of replies. Well, Joey Campbell gets in the car and he's like, man, that was funny.
Starting point is 00:55:57 He's like, do all the boxes come that way? And I'm like, what are you talking about? He's like, your picture. I was like, yeah, I mean, this is a cool box. He's like, no, you know the lady's flipping off. He's got a middle finger up, right? I was like, had no idea. I zoom in.
Starting point is 00:56:09 Now I'm like, this kid probably thinks I'm mad. Oh, no. Because it's like a lady in a box with the middle finger up. I was like, ah, whatever. It's fine. It's even funnier. That kind of makes it even more funny. But to your point about cautions, yeah, Denny spins out, which, by the way, should have been a caution.
Starting point is 00:56:26 I don't know why it wasn't. He spins out in front of like three or four of us. Clears, we're driving through the smoke over there. But Kevin gets mad at me when I say this. We've had issues in the past with the NASCAR radio frequency, like where we can hear the Berman and stuff on cautions. It's been great lately. The Rydell Bell pack's been phenomenal. Kevin, don't get mad at me.
Starting point is 00:56:45 But as a safety check, you usually don't just. relying on the radio, you kind of peeked down flagman, peeked down the lights. And I peeked down to the flagman. And the yellow flag is waving quickly and then came back. And nobody mentioned it. Like a lot of guys, I don't think anybody saw it. I think a lot of guys slowed down just because they assumed it was a yellow Bubba. Like I never told Bubba the yellow's out. He slowed down. I heard Tray tell, chase the yellow was out and wasn't. He said, oh, shit, go. But yeah, it was interesting to see a little quick wave of the yellow. Because what happened was the radio traffic. got a little crazy where I thought it was over to see yellow because whoever was leading,
Starting point is 00:57:22 I assume it was Briscoe right at the same time must have been taking two to go. And as soon as the leader crosses two to go on the stage, they announced pit road is closed on the NASCAR radio. So right as Denny's spinning, I hear pit road is closed. And I'm like, oh, wait, nope, that's not a yellow. That's just pit road's closing for two to go. And the drivers probably see because when they close pit road, the red lights flash on the pit road, the exit of the pit road.
Starting point is 00:57:45 Or entry to pit road. So some of the drivers that were right there probably saw that. Oh, all right, here's yellow. And I'm like, oh, God, we're still green. But yeah, it was, it was, it happened two weeks ago at Bristol, three weeks ago at Bristol. The O'Reilly race, we go to have a restart. They throw the green, the yellow lights come on. And we just ignored it.
Starting point is 00:58:01 Like, half us went, half us didn't go. They threw the green lights back on. We just took it all, I took it back off. I'm like, are we not going to mention the fact that we just threw the yellow lights on? Like, nobody's going to. Hey, they come. Sorry. Whoops.
Starting point is 00:58:14 Just forget it. It's fine. All right. Kyle Larson says, we are the only serious. that gives out those little participation awards mid-competition. Spot on, spot off. Also, worth mentioning,
Starting point is 00:58:24 Larson scored zero stage points at Las Vegas, though he now leads Hamlin by 40. Jeff, where are you out on stage points? Because I've been, my opinion is becoming more unpopular every week, I feel like. I think there's a reason why we have them.
Starting point is 00:58:37 And I think there's a reason why NASCAR and the drivers and everybody wanted them. And I don't think that's, I don't think that's changed. I think if it's, it changes the way that we race, you know, I don't think any of us are, you know, taking stretches of the race to just kind of chill.
Starting point is 00:58:54 It's like, you know, you know that you got to go get some points and they pay. The points matter. So I am in. Spot on a spot. Spot off. I think we need to keep them. Yeah. I've said on here, and like priests argued me last week or two weeks ago.
Starting point is 00:59:10 He doesn't. I don't know. He can't get him. He can't get him. That's why. Yeah. And he was like, he was largest example of like he finished his top ten. every week, but he's got no points because he's never in a top 10 for the stages.
Starting point is 00:59:20 But even like Tony last week was because my my, my opinion was like a guy like Bell yesterday, really fast race car finishes second both stages has a power steering issue. I think he ended up 23rd or something like that. Ruin my day. But he got 31 points because he finished second of both stages. So he got the same amount of stages as a guy that finished, you know, six or seventh without stage points. and I think it, I like that. You know, I think it should reward guys that are good throughout the entire race.
Starting point is 00:59:51 You know, if I think that you see the last two weeks, the 19 and the five dominated the race. They deserve the gain, whatever it was, 30, 40 points on the guy that has the second highest total versus the 15 aid gain, you know, if there wasn't stage points. I just, I don't, I mean, I don't know, like, where do you at on this? Because it's, I know, and listen, my opinion is just my opinion. I don't know that it's right, wrong. It's just the way I feel about it. I don't know if you agree or not. I mean, there's some races.
Starting point is 01:00:22 I think you want more stages to stop some few miles of stuff going on. And there's some races that maybe you don't want them. I don't know. Does it bring more strategy or less strategy? Do you think? Do you think if we just had no stages, would we all just not pit on the same five-lap window? at the play like, oh, that race like yesterday, you know, nobody's going to run long because you can only run so long.
Starting point is 01:00:48 And nobody's going to stop really short because you can only run so long on the backside. Like, so I feel like the stages add a level of strategy to it where you know, like they did yesterday. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Pitting or not pitting. But I still think you would still see cautions. Oh, yeah. You know, that's what everybody's like, everybody's like, I like the stage is get rid of the cautions. I'm like, we had, we've had stage cautions forever.
Starting point is 01:01:12 They were just debris cautions. Whenever Dale got the lucky dog spot, we fucking had a stage caution. I'm scratched that. We had tire wear back in the day. We had, you know what I mean? Like, you'd just run until you had to get some tires. But it's kind of funny. It's like sometimes I even forget, like, how it was.
Starting point is 01:01:32 We used to just run straight through. And it would just change, you know, it just changes the way you do it. I know when you say it about priests, it's like, yeah, we get stage points. so I like I still just think that it just keeps everybody up on the wheel everybody on the box that's up on the wheel all day I mean you saw at the end of was it stage two where those guys are trying to stretch tires and
Starting point is 01:01:53 and like they were fading and guys were cut like if that's just if we're that's just a run like no we're not nobody's put like we're Bubba was driving his ass off those guys like whoever was in our group there the 19 us like we're driving for everything we got with fucking 100 and something laps to go because we know there's points out
Starting point is 01:02:12 there to go get. We gained, we were 16th or 17th and ended up fifth, you know, so it's like, is that going to happen if we don't have stages? Is there going to be a guy at halfway that's just driving with his fucking tongue hanging out because he wants to get to fifth for no reason at that point? You know, so I don't, like, I think it just, I think it adds a level of strategy to just point. I think it forces you to be on, on it at the whole race. You can't just kind of, I'd rather see a guy get rewarded, being consistently faster at the whole race than the guy that just kind of salvaged a good finish at the end of the day. Like hung around and ended up in the top 10.
Starting point is 01:02:45 Congratulations. You deserve the 20 points, 25 points you got for top 10, whatever. But like the guys that were leading the race are consistently fast. I feel like earned, they should earn more points than you. Yeah, that definitely would be a whole different strategy in the race of the race. And that first guy that would pit wouldn't, there wouldn't be as much of a reaction anymore because then you're worried about, well, there isn't going to be a stage or isn't going to be a caution. What happens if there's a tire that falls off? What happens if someone
Starting point is 01:03:13 blows a tire? So it's going to, it would change the whole complexion of the race. I think like we have, I mean, I'm sure every team does it the same way. You go into the race and it's like, this is the optimal number to pit. You know, this is what we want to get to. Now you usually end up hitting a handful of laps before that because of what everybody else is doing. I don't think people understand how much information we get now for all that. I mean, there's a... Let me tell you something. There is something to piss me off this weekend. back then. And I'm going to,
Starting point is 01:03:40 so Berman does it. Berman gets away with it because Tim Berman's been been the race director for 100 years. I let him get away with it without being mad. But we have a new guy, Joey that does it, Acock. And we're doing a choose the other day.
Starting point is 01:03:55 And I don't know, somebody got lost in their count or somebody in the middle of the pack kind of got it strung out a little bit. And he made the comment on the radio. He's like, let's bunch them up, guys. It's only two choices. What are you doing?
Starting point is 01:04:05 And I'm like, do you know how much fucking time these guys spend on what lane retains what spot. I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, and just hell to go. Hey guys, hurry up through this choose. There's only fucking two choices. Go pick one or the other. I'm like, oh, now don't be a condescend.
Starting point is 01:04:21 Like, I was like, you don't get to come in to be the new guy and start talking shit. Like, that was like race control was like, yeah. There's bunch of up guys. There's only two options here. I'm like, ooh, that piss me. Dude, it's a constant discussion under yellow. You got your heat maps. You got your, in this position.
Starting point is 01:04:38 over 10 years is what it's done. And it's, and you can't like, it's not like I can pick tell Bubba, all right, on the backstress, we're going to the outside here. You're basing it off of what everybody in front of you does. So like once, as soon as one guy gets lost,
Starting point is 01:04:52 it's like kind of throws the whole, you know, rhythm off. And it's at a mile, I know sometimes short tracks, it gets a little bit much. And they get, they have to wave the yellow, the green off.
Starting point is 01:05:02 And it's, that's frustrating. But like, mile and a half, like we have plenty of time to get through the shoes, get caught up. We don't need any comments from the,
Starting point is 01:05:08 Too much information, man. We have too much information. Oh, that's for sure. After announcing his departure as a driver, owner of RFK racing after 2026, Brad Keselowski will find a cup ride, Cup Series ride for 2027. You hiring him, Jeff?
Starting point is 01:05:23 I've got so many questions with this. I saw, yeah, there's probably a lot of them. Somebody said, RAM stuff came out. You know, oh, he's going to RAM and Chris Rice went on radio, and he's like, he's not coming over here. So that leaves them as definitely an option. He can definitely be going there once Chris Wright said,
Starting point is 01:05:38 he's not. But, you know, I don't know. It seemed to me just from the outside looking in, I had heard some rumblings about this probably like two months ago where TJ was, T.J. was possibly looking for a gig. And I was like, why? Like, what's, and I just had him always pegged as like, he's going to be there, Brad. And then started, I was like, oh, maybe he's not going to be racing. And that was, you know, that was where it got tipped off. And then it just kind of, you kind of snowballed. ball from there. And I don't know, it just sounds like a difference of opinion, right? It sounds like they wanted him to focus more on the competition side. He kind of still obviously wants to be a race car driver for a few years. So it's just, I don't know, Tommy, you were kind of in that building
Starting point is 01:06:22 a couple years ago. What, I mean, what Brad did, when Brad went there, the turnaround that that company made was unbelievable, you know, and I don't know how much, I'm assuming that was directly related to Brad being there. Like, I don't know how the people he put in place whether or not was just him or whatnot, but that company was dying. And they're back to where they, close to where they were, you know, 20 years ago. But, I mean, you were in some of those meetings years ago. How does it look like? I mean, I wasn't.
Starting point is 01:06:49 We weren't in any of those meetings. I was in some business meetings that, I don't know. I'm in my opinion, I don't think some decisions were being made correctly back then when they had opportunity to do some things. and cost them a lot of money, I think. Sure. And sometimes when egos get ahead of business, it hurts. And it might not hurt then, but when you're sitting back and you're looking at it after years and going, holy shit, boy, do we mess up.
Starting point is 01:07:27 Yeah, from, like things like start to compound, right? Absolutely. And look, from the outside end, it's just like, I just wonder the lack of the third charter, how much that played into all this. I don't know. Again, I'm not plugged into RFK at all really, but it's just like, you're not getting it. No information.
Starting point is 01:07:42 No information from them. No, not yet. No, not yet. That's 2028. He was, he was looking at their shit the other weekend though. He was looking at it yesterday or on Saturday. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:07:55 It's like sometimes I think Brad in a way is like overlooked as far as like what he's done as far as like turning that like he's talking about. Oh, 100% agree. Like turning that place around. And again, it's like you don't have the third. charter. So if you don't have the third charter, are you looking for, I just wonder if they would wanted him to focus on being the comp director if they had the third charter, right? If they didn't, if they, if they, if, if they, if, if, now that they don't have it, it clearly doesn't make a lot of
Starting point is 01:08:17 sense to run it as open. You know, maybe that, you know, kind of played into it. But it's, you know, it's like, you know, it's like running like 36th every week and you're trying to, you know, say, hey, why don't you focus on this? I mean, Brad was in the hunt for chase spot, you know, And actually they were in for most of the year, I do it. Right? So, again, I don't think they just lost a driver, right? I think that's the other thing we need all kind of like as a, you know, as a group, you know, kind of acknowledge also. It's like they didn't lose a driver.
Starting point is 01:08:42 They lost their comp director. They lost the guy that was like, you know, kind of cut from the same cloth in a way as like a Kyle Bush, right? Where it's just like, you know, Brad, for all of his idiosyncrasies, he sets a high bar. Right. And he's super smart. He's one of those guys that not only does his family have a hundred, years in this and he learned every little trick going up he also learned from roger penske right you also learned from dale right i mean he learned from all these guys so it's like you know he's got a lot
Starting point is 01:09:08 that's been poured into him you don't replace that right you just don't replace that overnight and i think that's going to be you know they need to be careful because i mean you know maybe they slowed themselves down whether they meant to or not it's just well sometimes a change is a big change right and sometimes you know you get to a point it's like man have we reached our plateau of what we have going on or a role of things that we're doing. I mean, you see it in every other sport, right? You'd be like, holy shit, they got rid of who, or they did what, or, you know, it's for five draft picks, you know, over the last two years, the next two, three years,
Starting point is 01:09:42 and all of a sudden three years from now, oh, my God, they're in first place. How'd that happen? So sometimes, you know, things go on and the... Look, it's also this time of the year, right? Like, you know, last year, again, I'm not saying that we're nothing, right? But it's just like yesterday on the way home. You know, me and Matt are sitting there. there, you know, Ryan's up there and we're sitting there talking.
Starting point is 01:10:02 It's like, what are we doing to stay where we're at? Like, you know, like, this is that time of year where it's like, what are our off-season projects? What are we, you know what I mean? What are the things that we want to make better? I don't know, man. It's just tough. It's like it's October, right? I mean, Daytona is only a few months away, right?
Starting point is 01:10:20 Yeah, it's crazy. It's like, this is just a hard time to be, you know, trying to fill that, you know, fill that spot. And there's only a handful of people that, you know, that can do it. I mean, that's, you know, again, I think, you know, certainly talking about our situation. It's just like, yeah, a guy like Chris Gabehart's available, you go get them. I mean, that's just how it is. There's not, there are unicorns, right?
Starting point is 01:10:39 Yeah. And so it's just like a good thing with him, like with Chad. It's like I put Brad in there. It's like, you know, Brad is somebody that's, again, has a lot of interest, a lot of, you know, a lot of businesses. But man, it just feels like to me, he's just like got this maniacal view of how, you know, of pushing things forward. And you see it.
Starting point is 01:10:53 You see, like, Chris and Ryan and, you know, you got those guys got two in the chase as well. it's like, that's hard to do. Yeah. Right? And so I think, but Brad. I just don't know. It's there. I mean,
Starting point is 01:11:04 the question was better. I know. Like, there's, there's, there's really nothing, unless somebody's making a huge change just late in the year. Like,
Starting point is 01:11:11 I don't see anywhere for him to land. But we've already gone to, everybody's already gone to their sponsors. Yeah. This is what we're doing next year, right? And he doesn't, I don't know that he brings any sponsorship money with them. You know,
Starting point is 01:11:21 I would assume most of that's going to stay at, at Rausch, anything that was, you know, that he had been working with. So I don't, there's one thing that's out there, right, that everyone I think keeps forgetting is the availability of charters with new manufacturers. So you never know what's going on on there, right? I mean, you know, does Dodge have the ability with NASCAR to?
Starting point is 01:11:51 They do. Right? So. Yeah, it makes sense. You know, just Chris said that it's not. I told you. Once Chris said it's not happening, it made me think it was.
Starting point is 01:12:00 Again, it's... And it doesn't necessarily... There's a lot of things that... First Domino has felt has fallen, right? So next couple of weeks is winning all this. It's going to be...
Starting point is 01:12:11 And I don't know that he... Like, talking around the garage, you say, you may know, better than me, but like, I didn't get the sense from anybody that he knows what he's doing. Yeah, I didn't... I talked to his...
Starting point is 01:12:21 To Vern, you know, a little bit. One thing I wish I would have asked Vern, I think is pertinent to this. this conversation too as far as what he wants going forward is just like okay well what is brad's what is brad want right i mean he's had control quote unquote control of an organization it's hard to go back into something where you're just like yeah you just run it yeah but i think he's going to put himself in a position to do that do everything i mean it's just it's brad it's what he does he likes to i think he would want to at least yeah you know what i'm saying he was part of building here he was part of
Starting point is 01:12:52 Keep Penske. Penske going, right? He did, went there, the RFK, and you should see all the changes that were made to the buildings and the look and the way the people had to, you know, represent themselves and all the things. It was just, it wasn't just Brad going, okay, we're going to give you a spring setup and, you know, from Penske or, you know, it was a complete rebuild up, an organization that really desperately needed it, you know, so some people can do that.
Starting point is 01:13:22 Right? Some people can build it from the ground up. And he's one of them. So, you know, wherever he goes, he's going to have his finger and his pulse on it for sure. All right. Last one. Carson Hosevar would be just as popular, if not more so, if he minimized his on-track incidents. He didn't have any incidents yesterday, right? You said, right? Clint-sheet. Yeah. No, cleat sheet yesterday. Listen, I don't, let me read the question again. I think he would be, I think he would, his popularity would not change with the fans versus. is, he'd be much more popular in the garage if he had less on track incidents.
Starting point is 01:13:57 But I think with the fan base, I think that that's kind of one of the things they love about him. That he goes for it at all the times. He doesn't, he's unapologetic about it. Like I think that they, that's something that I see them kind of latch on to, right? I mean,
Starting point is 01:14:09 yeah, but absolutely. And I think that's the one that's in everybody's face, right? It's like, hey, this is a personality and all that. I think the thing that sometimes with Carson that does not get seen is like,
Starting point is 01:14:18 the work that he does that is not racing or race, track-related. Like, he legit is trying to meet these fans where they're at, right? You know, and I just think he works at it more than I think a lot of the drivers these days want to work at it. I mean, you know, to just call it what it is. It's just like, you know, he doesn't say no to anything. We don't have to. He's single. He doesn't have any kids, right? You don't have anything, right? No, eventually that changes, right? But I'm just, but, like, you know, but I think he's building a really good foundation regardless of what happens, you know, obviously the on-track stuff. We can talk about the incidents, right? Like, we can also talk about where it's like.
Starting point is 01:14:51 like, you know, we have to get those results, right? Like, you don't want to just be like, hey, I'm, you know, one trick pony or, hey, I'm doing this. You want to have, like, trophies. You want to have a legacy, right? So, I mean, those are the things that we also kind of talk about. But it's, it's, he would, you nailed it, Freddie. He would be a lot more popular in the motorhome lot, right? Does he care?
Starting point is 01:15:12 Huh? Does he care? Yeah. I mean, again, I think there's this thing where, you know, we went to this a few weeks ago, right? We're just like, I think I're right, we all care. We all want them, you know. No, does he? I'm saying including him, right?
Starting point is 01:15:23 I mean, again, I don't, I don't like it when he's just like, well, I don't really care what they say. It's like everybody cares what, you know what I mean? Like, we're with each other all the time, right? It's like, you don't necessarily want like that kind of tension. But, you know, there's also a part of him that's just like he does like kind of being like on his own, right? And doing his own, you know, his own thing. But yeah, I mean, I get, sometimes I get a little, it's like, yeah, I don't really care what they think. Yeah, that's, I think we all do.
Starting point is 01:15:48 I think we all do. thing that we kind of harp on on here is and like we talked about it after it was a gateway with the fans on the track like that shit I love like I think that's genuine Carson you know what I mean I think that that like when I see that when I see him going to his trailer and sign and like you know bring me a shirt to somebody else and I'll sign I'll give you a free one of mine like that's I think that's genuine but then when I see the I don't give shit I don't know I don't you know like that like the phony persona and I'm like you're that's not true because like you do care what these guys think. You do not want to be the most hated guy in the garage. You know what I mean? So it's like stop playing
Starting point is 01:16:22 into that. And, and I try to come with time. Yeah. Well, you can, hold on. You can do both, right? It's like, I think he's, you know, obviously the fans mean a lot to him, right? I mean, like, he feels that love so much from the fans that he doesn't need to necessarily get it from, you know what I mean, the guy that's starting inside of him. But it's, um, the thing I always try to point out also, it's like, drivers talk to him. I mean, I've seen him all the time. You know what I mean? Like, it's like, It's not like he's like... It's not like he's like ostracized completely from... Right.
Starting point is 01:16:49 Right. My thing has just been more like, you know... I always felt like the drivers respected him more than they always let on, right? My thing has always just been, we have to get rid of that butt. It's always just like, man, I really respect his speed, but... And that butt is what is like... That's what I told Tyler Green, his spotter, who I think does a really good job. He, like a couple, whatever it was, maybe the...
Starting point is 01:17:09 Was his contract up? Was this contract up? Is that why you said that? Yeah, I'm trying to help him out. He's probably getting close. I don't know. It's going up on it. Listen, Jeff, Jeff Dickerson did more for the spotter market than any car owner who ever has.
Starting point is 01:17:21 I appreciate you. I love you, buddy. You're my man. He was like, he was like, all the news up on that spotter stand. I was making $400 a fucking race. We are, we are spot a nation, baby. It's an important job. But you're screwed up.
Starting point is 01:17:37 Why? I screwed up? Yeah, because you should have went and represented all of them and got a kickback out. I probably could have done that. I just look, I know, when we did that. And not to hijack this portion of it, but, you know, all the team owners that are going to, you know, hate me again for this. It's like we were just trying to get elite somewhere, right? In those days, it's like we couldn't afford to go get a million-dollar crew chief.
Starting point is 01:17:57 We couldn't afford to do all these other things. What we could afford was get good spotters, right? Yeah. And that's where we... And I remember like that back in those days, like, whatever that was, three or four years ago, maybe when Tyler went over there, like, it was like, I remember talking to somebody. I can't remember it was you or somebody else. And it was like three people pushed the button on Saturday or Sunday, you know, driver, crew chief spotter. Like those, we're going to make sure we have the best people possible in those positions because that's what directly impacts the race on Sunday.
Starting point is 01:18:24 So I appreciate you. I love you again for that. But I was talking to Tyler about Carson. And I said, everybody gets, give me shit because I'm, you know, I'm very critical of him on here. And I said, the reason why I am, and I think Tommy is the same way, it's like, because you know how good he is. You know what I mean? And it's like, I wish to some of the nonsense. And I said, that's why I get irrationally angry about this stuff with like.
Starting point is 01:18:43 like Brad that day, you know, where it's like, just stop, stop fucking, I don't know. Don't stop that. Stop that. Stop that. Like, just, you know, I just, but, you know, I think the problem is I think it's, and I think the drivers agree. Like, I think every driver you hear from is what you just said, man, the kid's really talented. He's did this, but it's this. And it's, if he can get past that, but, like, it's just going to be, you know, I think he's, you know, he's destined for great things. Just got to. There'll be a time for that, right? They're just like, there was for Kyle. There was for Joey. You know what I mean? It's just, it'll, it'll, it'll, there was for. There was for
Starting point is 01:19:13 Parvick. There was for go down the list, right? And it's just like, there'll be a time for that. And, you know, but we need races like we had yesterday where it's just like, we don't have to be the story. We don't like, again, the headlines that I want him to have or our team to have are mostly just like, hey, we won for, hey, top five or hey, this or that, right? That's what we're trying to. That's what we want. We want the main thing to be the main thing. But it's, I'm telling it's just like what he does off the track. I don't know that there's any other driver. that I think that gets misconstrued sometimes where people make it seem like you guys are over there just fanning the flames like you know you want this shit show I know like for a fact you guys have had many conversations and and maybe some reprimanding in house you know of it's not just like you love the oh yeah we want the fucking chaos like you're also trying to because you know like you said last year like he was taking top tens and turning him to top 30s like now you're you know now you're performing the way you can like you can like you can't just let him run. a muck. Like you have to rain them in a little bit. No, for sure. But like, let's, let's go back to last time I was here, right? Last time I was here is after Nashville where he got into Riki, remember? Yeah. And it's like, it came on here. And I was just like, we just call it like we see it. So in those days, it was just like, holy shit, Jeff went on their show and he's like, told the truth. Yeah. And now you're not an adult. Now we're not an adult. Now we're just like, oh, fuck it. But there is, there is something to where it's like, remember, with our agency
Starting point is 01:20:37 roots, right? And, and, and, and all that. It's like, we know how to kind of turn the machine. You know, but that is, that is secondary to what we're doing on the racetrack, right? It's like, you know, you don't make it to this stage and just like trying to turn it into a total t-shirt selling machine, right? It's like we're trying to get results and the rest is spent off of, you know, spin off of that. But, you know, it's, look, you guys have known us for, you know, for years and years and years. The thing, my only thing from a spire perspective is just moving like, you guys have known us. You know we're not for everybody. You know we do things differently.
Starting point is 01:21:12 So when we do things differently, it's just like, why are you guys doing such little shit differently? You know, it's like, well, yeah, this is what we've been doing. I laugh. You know, it's, I think it's kind of the way of the world and you talk about politics. You talk about whatever you want. Like, it's, you have to be either all the way one way or all the way the other. Like Tommy, I saw, you know, whatever it was, maybe the Blaney incident, I guess. You know, we all came on here.
Starting point is 01:21:34 We were like, that's kind of on Ryan. You know, like, you put yourself in that position with that guy that you know is not going to cut your break. And like, I saw all the comments are like, no. you guys can't say that now. You know, you motherfucker Carson all the time. And I'm like, yeah, you can still look at things objectively. Like, you can still, well, that was his fault. This one wasn't.
Starting point is 01:21:51 Like, you don't have to be all against Carson or all against Ryan, whatever it is. Like, it's just, I think the way of the world now, everybody just expects you to either be. You got to be so far one way or so far the other. It's just, but listen, I think we're going to, and I hope you appreciate it. I hope he does. When he does dumb shit, we're going to call him out for it. When he does good shit, we're going to say he's good shit. Yeah, but if he's doing dumb shit, I mean, again,
Starting point is 01:22:12 I know you guys are all sitting here. It's not like you're not afraid to grab me in the middle of the garage area and be like, hey, you stupid. I'm like, what was that? Or you? You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:22:20 Like, I don't have to tune in here to get you guys. You guys give it to me. It's not like we're just coming on here and talking about it. Right. But yeah, it's, and listen,
Starting point is 01:22:29 I think it's great for podcasting. I'll tell you that much. Hey, yeah, we've had plenty of content. We do our part. I appreciate it. I mean,
Starting point is 01:22:38 my take on Spire Motorsports is you guys, is you guys play chess most of the time while other people are playing checkers. I appreciate that, yeah. And it is. It's just like, there's so many times. Have I mentioned Tommy's looking for a job? I am not looking for a fucking job.
Starting point is 01:22:58 Can you imagine me having Tommy in there? With Bono and Bree Chi and... Hey, Carson. Patty. Hey, Carson, we got a new driver coach for you. I love Tommy. So, let me... Jeez.
Starting point is 01:23:11 Hey everybody, this is Dale Jr. And for the latest DBC gear, go to shop.dotDurtymo Media.com. We've added some new shirts. There's one called Win or lose. We're drinking booze. Everything seems to be about drinking here at Dirtymo Media. Go check it out now. It's time to read.
Starting point is 01:23:45 It's time for reaction theater where fans can call in and voice their opinions from this weekend's race. We didn't quite have as many calls as after Bristol, shockingly. I mean, what was Bristol 700? What happened at Bristol? Yeah, it was 700. We said we had 743 voice mails. So thanks, Jeff. I had to listen to all this.
Starting point is 01:24:01 After Bristol. Hey, we got them at the shop. Do you get shit? I mean, do you get like mail? Yeah, yeah. It's funny. Emma will send something around on Monday mornings or something like that. It's just like, you know, right after Bristol, it was just like, you know, 722 a.m.
Starting point is 01:24:19 It's like, hi, this is Dave Blaney. All right over to. On the left. On his speaker? That'd be awesome. Which you represented him back then, right? Dave was part of the Illinois stable too. Leah worked for us.
Starting point is 01:24:35 Yeah. I like Ryan. I mean, again, we're all friends. We're all frenemies. We're all enemies. All right. First one. Jeff fucking Dickerson's on this show.
Starting point is 01:24:48 Finally, y'all got a great guest. I mean, I love Jeff. He looks like my college weed dealer, but he's fucking great. 77 to the moon, baby. Where'd you go to school? It might have been him. Might have really would have been him. It's been an entrepreneur for a long time.
Starting point is 01:25:03 He's been shaking the trees for a long time, man. Random. Sunday's Jeff Dickerson. I've been the random play. I'm sitting here to press. Kyle Busch card didn't win tonight, so my wife's not giving me any. I'm just going to drink away my sorrows. miss you KB
Starting point is 01:25:29 damn he tried he went for it still going do y'all think when barson went in for that damn phenile reduction
Starting point is 01:25:42 surgery that that one caller called in about the all thing they just took that motherfucker off and gave it to Denny Hamlin he's stepping on that
Starting point is 01:25:49 motherfucker now I don't remember the cold thing that's awesome yeah yeah so they said that for a long time all year. They were saying, they were saying that Larson was stepping on something.
Starting point is 01:26:02 So he went to the doctor to get it reduced. So he didn't step on it no more. And now I guess Danny's got it. Dang. Denny did. Then he stomped on her yesterday. I was wrong a few weeks ago. Brad Teselowski,
Starting point is 01:26:15 you better take that fucking cane out of storage and shove it up my own fucking ass. What the fuck are we doing, bro? Go Brad. Go, Brad. Yeah. That's going to be an interesting story next couple weeks. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:31 We'll see. You seem to have something. You know. He knows something. I don't know. I just know how it quickly. I don't think there's anything to know. I know how,
Starting point is 01:26:42 and you do, you know more than anybody. It's how many, that's what things happen now. You know how quickly right now, what's going on right now. Yeah. I want to give a shout out to
Starting point is 01:26:52 absolutely fucking no one. that was the call hamlin you suck he's not happy with him he was upset poor I understand poor Danny fans
Starting point is 01:27:07 as the the main leader of the brisco burner fan club I don't think I could have taken two losses in a row that Kyle Larson but we're so ripped up right now
Starting point is 01:27:18 I saw somebody sent me something but James James had a quote like he was like I was going to kill myself if we've lost that race again oh I would love to
Starting point is 01:27:27 work with him. I don't know that I would actually love it in the moment because he's intense. You and James? Yeah, that would not go well. But it would be fun to look back on. True had a little, they all had a little humor during, I think, the third stage.
Starting point is 01:27:43 Yeah. Dude, fuck the 11th team, man. I'm a huge Denny Hamlin fan, but Jesus Christ, Denny. You choke on a piece of rice, dude. They just choked on their own dick again. and what the fuck is Toyota doing?
Starting point is 01:28:00 Every Toyota in the field, other than the 19, had some kind of mechanical problems. Holy shit. What a self-destruct button that was today. Wow. Only two had mechanical issues, right? The 45 had an alternate issue and the 20 had power steering. The rest of us were all just pit road penalties.
Starting point is 01:28:23 I looked up at the beginning of the race. I was like, okay, this is, I feel, back. We feel pretty good here. I looked up with Toyota's was like the top six. And we had a half a straightaway to the 24. And I was like, all right, we found our speed again. And then it was just like one after another. Do you said Joe a tech? What air pressure is there now?
Starting point is 01:28:39 You ask them? I got to, we're on the group chat. You should do that in the middle of the race. Where are you guys going with air here? Yeah. When you guys go to it's hard to balance. You got the Hendr stuff coming in and JGR shit coming in. You know.
Starting point is 01:28:53 So much. It's tough. It's just tough. Information just paralyzes you. Last one. Just announced for Talladega, getting a new spoiler blade. Going down a little bit, it's going to be a three and a half inch spoiler. I still think that's pretty big.
Starting point is 01:29:09 I mean, I'm going to tell people it's pretty big. It probably at least has a good personality. Yeah, I mean, three and a half inch spoiler. Yeah, I mean, that's solid. It's a really good personality. That was a good one. That was a DVD. He found something.
Starting point is 01:29:31 That was a DEC call for a heard of. Those were good. To leave an audio mess is 24-7. You can call our number at 704, 802-9572, and we will play the best ones each week on the show. All right. Welcome to the shit show Hall of Fame. Big thank you to Flo for providing us with footage that we can watch and react to.
Starting point is 01:29:47 You can catch all of these and save 15% on your subscription by using the link. FlowSports. Dot link slash door bumper clear to sign up. I commend the sport. I didn't see a lot of shit shows this week. I mean, there's a couple. why I think we're going to get from flow here. But I didn't see a whole, oh boy.
Starting point is 01:30:04 Oh, that's a cartwheel. Was that where? Was that where why it was? Yeah. This looks like pro two or pro light. Yeah. That is. Why it got ran off the track right around there somewhere too and wrecked his ass off.
Starting point is 01:30:19 It's probably a good thing you weren't there then. It probably is. This thing does like a full cartwheel. I mean, that's a cartwheel. That's pretty impressive. You don't see a lot of cartwheels. Yeah. It stuck the landing.
Starting point is 01:30:29 Honestly, minimal body damage too. Those things, the bodies, the body's like a suggestion on those things, right? No, their bodies are made to be just ripped the fuck off. Wasn't a Pastrana racing? He ran somewhere. Was that there?
Starting point is 01:30:43 I saw where he was. I know Ken Roxon was running there, but I don't know. Kid Rock? Who? Kin Roxen? I thought you said Kid Rock too. No, Ken Roxon. He's like, oh, Bob?
Starting point is 01:30:51 I don't think Bob needs to be doing any racing. No. All right. Up next. man, I love watching races at this place. Oh, man. We got some road warrior action. Oh, shit.
Starting point is 01:31:06 Oh, shit. The whole field. Oh. They're still wrecking. Looks like 77 a rush hour. It wasn't really does. Yeah, that was, that was, that was, that's what, there was no shit shows this week. Oh, that was coming to a checker.
Starting point is 01:31:18 Like, he just threw the flag and grabbed the yellow. Are these the leaders, but do we know? Wait, was he throwing the black flag checkers and yellow? I think he just had a yellow in the checker. I'd have to get called Tapley and find out what. the hell was going on there. All right. What else we got?
Starting point is 01:31:32 And last but not least. The old tradition. Oh, this is Gabe, right? Gabe Brown won the milk bowl. Congratulations. This is an awesome race. And then I don't know. Is this, is this,
Starting point is 01:31:43 do you consider this winning? Oh, no. Big old, big old kiss for the cow. You got to do it. You drink the milk, right? Drink the milk, yeah. I love, man, I haven't really,
Starting point is 01:31:55 I didn't really watch a lot of Thunder Road races, but they're on Thursday nights now. So when I'm home during the week, it's like, oh, this is a good one to watch. And they put on really, really good racing. So if you're at home on a Thursday next year, Jeff, you want to. I'm like, man, maybe I run second today.
Starting point is 01:32:10 I always said that about. That's the biggest one in the year. You got to, you got a kiss. I always said that about the, the rattler down in wherever that is. I ain't hold no fucking snake. Them guys like, like, Majesky. They put a rattlesnake on you in Victoria Lane. I was like, yeah.
Starting point is 01:32:23 Like, I'm out on that. I'm out on that, too. Lobsters. Yeah, when they make you hold the lobster. You don't want to hold a lot. What is that? New Hampshire? Where do they make you do that?
Starting point is 01:32:33 Yeah, New Hampshire. Yeah, I'm doing that. You could hold a lobster. No. No. Snake. Snakes, lobsters, cows, all of it. I'm good.
Starting point is 01:32:39 There was a big ass figure eight wreck. Oh, yeah. This weekend? I missed it. Was it Indy? I don't remember where it was that. I saw it. Showed it to me yesterday.
Starting point is 01:32:49 Was it? You sure it wasn't a couple weeks ago when they were trying to do. That one was bad. No, I saw it on Twitter last night. That was an indie. That was indie, yeah, for sure. Oh, I'm aware of that one. I was buddies with a couple of guys involved in that one.
Starting point is 01:33:00 All right, guys, if you find a shit show out in the wild, make sure you tag us or send it our way on social media so we can laugh along with you. All right, it's hard to move on to ask DVC, where we ask the questions you have all been wanting to know. All right, go ahead. I'm sorry. You're lucky. I did. I have a sound remote in my purse.
Starting point is 01:33:27 Booze and claps and all kinds of shit I almost brought today. I'm bringing it next week. All right. Is the intermediate package still as good today as it was when the next gen car debuted? Thomas. The package is the same. We just all got better at it, I think, right? I mean, it's just, it's the same as everything else.
Starting point is 01:33:44 When the car first came out, it was a lot of disparity. You know, what are we having, 15, 16 different winners, whatever it was. And now the box just keeps shrinking and shrinking and the longer you get with this car, the small one of the box is going to get and the cream is going to kind of continue to rise to the top. And I think that, you know, racing is not as good because we're all going the same speed. And we can. It's not as good. I don't think.
Starting point is 01:34:06 That is not as good as it was then. You know, I felt like, you know, now with the, like, we're all just the same speed now. And like, not all of us, but like, you know, yesterday, I said yesterday ended the race. We run the 19 down. We can't pass him. The five runs us down. He can't pass us. Then he can't pass the 19.
Starting point is 01:34:21 The 45 runs them down. Like it's just, I think we're all just too close together now where it's, it's hard to pass. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. The package hasn't changed, right? I mean, the package isn't much different. I just, I don't know. I think the racing's good, man.
Starting point is 01:34:38 It's not bad. I'm not saying it's bad. I just don't think it's as good as it was the first year. People forget in late 90s and early 2000s when we were peaking how spread out. Yeah, those were the races were. Yeah. And the action wasn't action. It was just, we just had a show, you know.
Starting point is 01:34:57 I saw somebody, you know, everybody, everybody kept. sending me the clip of Prisco shutting our air off on the bottom and above a plowing tight. And they're like, look at this fucking car. And then somebody responded with like Jeff doing it to Jimmy with like the COT car. He's like he just, you know, Jeff like shuts Jimmy's air off and Jimmy just gets tight. It doesn't look as bad, but you can clearly see like it's just, it's always kind of been. I was fun for Jeff at Atlanta. I thought it was maybe it was like his 85th win or something like whatever.
Starting point is 01:35:23 I just remember doing the same. I mean, Jimmy was behind this. It was the old car. It was just like, hey man, just move up the lane. We're good. You know what I mean? It's just like it's just part. It's just racing.
Starting point is 01:35:30 But again, we talk about it with the Xfinity or the Riley cars. It's the same, it's, again, the good teams are going to, they're going to ring everything out of it. And that's just how it goes. And then the rest of us are just going to catch up. I think we also just need to be like, hey, what are we trying to accomplish? Right. It's just like, I mean, we want to just pull the tab on Saturdays before practice.
Starting point is 01:35:51 This is the rules package of the weekend. And if we want unpredictability, it's like, yeah, we can probably get some unpredictability again. But it's like, you know, we are racing. These are the rules. And we're all going to engineer the hell out of these cars. And that's what it's going to look like. And it would be like this with any car right now. I agree.
Starting point is 01:36:08 I agree. If you gave us the Xfinity car and said, here, you're the new cup car. In two years, we would fuck it up. Oh, yeah. Friday, our friend Martin wants to know, if your driver's out of the race, do you stick around or do you go leave and go eat and then go to the hotel? Usually I stick around just because I got two other guys in my rental car, Joey and Nick. So usually I'll wait for them.
Starting point is 01:36:34 If they got a ride, I might haul us out of there. Or maybe like if it's Sunday and we crash, maybe sometimes I'll call Bubba and be like, hey, I'm riding with you to the airplane right now. Let's get. Like if it's Saturday night, I'd probably hang out and wait because it is what it is. Sunday, if I can get on the plane and get the fuck out of there, we're probably going to do that. Fair enough. But yeah. All right.
Starting point is 01:36:54 Don't forget to leave. Questions for us on social media. And use hashtag AskDBC to have your chance to get yours ass on the show. I'm getting my ass handed to me and DBC picks right now. You're leading. How are you getting your ass handed to you? You're one back. I know.
Starting point is 01:37:08 You're one back. I'm running you down. I had like a seven point lead and now he's he's won back. There. He's won three weeks in a row. Fucking on a roll. Christopher Bell. Fuck you.
Starting point is 01:37:21 You guys have no shirt. Lost power steering. Ruin my day. Who's turn? Okay. It's your turn. I go first. Charlotte.
Starting point is 01:37:29 Larson. Riddick. I'm going to take the 54. I'm going to take the 77. Oh, there we go. Kiss ass. It's cute. Well, it's a good place for him, I think.
Starting point is 01:37:39 Yeah, we got a shot. He is on. And he's on the show. I'm playing the DBC long game here. Hey, we won in the spring. Yeah, they're with the 7.7. We'll be all right. What is the weekend winners?
Starting point is 01:37:53 Obviously, coming home late. We started the show late. want to get a show out as fast as possible. So we don't have anybody calling in. I can rattle off some winners, though. First, we just talked about Gay Brown won the Milk Bowl. Jeff, did you see any race this weekend?
Starting point is 01:38:04 You want to shout the winner out for, by any means? Did Chase Deets win? Chase Deets won the National Open. I think that's what is. Devin Moran won the Pittsburgh. Deets, I think that was his 90th. I don't know. He's got one of the year.
Starting point is 01:38:17 It's unbelievable this year. It's not as 100, but he's got the most in the sprint car world. Gay Brown won Milk Bowl. I'd see Eric Steele, it popped on my flow. Eric Steele won the streetstock portion of the Milk Bowl and had his dad's ashes in the car with him and threw him around
Starting point is 01:38:32 Victory Lane. So I think that was pretty cool. Caden Cople won the race and the championship essentially Yeah, he locked up, Bill Nguyen Newport. Mason Walters. Briggs Danner won the Ralee Classic. Oh, go ahead.
Starting point is 01:38:48 I just wanted to give a shout out to Wyatt's truck team owner, Ryan B. He won the Pro 4 championship for a champ off road this year. so. Who cares? Excellent. What do you mean?
Starting point is 01:38:58 Who cares? Go on, Freddie. I care about my brother's team on you fucking asshole. Taylor Mayhew won the KB Classic, Cowbush Classic at the West Race. They've guys thrashed all day. He made a late race run to win that. Shout to Bruce Cook.
Starting point is 01:39:12 Jeremy Dawes won at the Bullring. Also, Eric Holmes want me to give a shout to Scott Sanchez. Scott Sanchez Racing. He says been around for a long time. That was his first win. So cool for them. McKinney won. Fall final up at Stafford.
Starting point is 01:39:26 Ben Tunney won the figure eight races to Speeddrome. My buddy Tyro, Romeo's son, Porter, won his seventh race at the sports room. My buddy, Silas Hayes, my little nephew, Jayrod. Jayrod finally won his first champions of Riverhead. Silas, I'm wearing a shirt. He won his first Bandlero race this week at Riverhead, so that was cool. Kevin Davidson won at Wall. Stafford, we saw the champion.
Starting point is 01:39:47 Rocco won a championship. I know Adam Gray, buddy, mine won a championship up there. Owen Grenin won the race and the championship at Riverhead Saturday. Salamino the kid. Lannon won his son his champion a couple weeks ago. My cousin-in-law, Jeremy McDermott won a late model championship.
Starting point is 01:40:02 There's, I've been really had just my... I mean, there's... Well, you have a lot of cousins. A lot of cousins. It's not real cousins. Just from living in Mystic. Yeah, well, they're they married to...
Starting point is 01:40:10 I don't know if they're even married. It's just cousins. I mean, Shirley Mastic. Everyone's related up there. Hey, but who cares? Who cares? Who cares? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:40:18 Oh, she mad? What's really bad about it? Because he said, who cares when I started talking? Shut the fuck. up. Tommy, where are you going this weekend? We're not going in. We have a microphone.
Starting point is 01:40:33 I don't know if you have no cards tour this weekend. Yeah, Luke's got the truck race on Friday and then we both kids race in Tri-County on Saturday. What are they running? Smart. Smart. Carson? Yeah, I'll be at Charlotte this weekend. I'm using my hard card for the first time.
Starting point is 01:40:48 So excited. First time all year. Helton gave you that. No, O-D. O-D. Oh, D. Yeah. Jeff, what do you got going on this weekend?
Starting point is 01:40:55 Just Charlotte. Yeah. No spring cars, no late model, no. I think we run at Lakeside in the sprint car. No modify. No, not yet. Going to get one, though. Yet.
Starting point is 01:41:10 Not reich. Geo is second in points, right? Striking distance still? I mean, that's pretty big. I don't think we can catch Rico. Rico is pretty good. I don't think we can fall to fourth either. Which is pretty, I mean, you got to be pretty happy with that for, for
Starting point is 01:41:23 You're out the gate right now. Hey, let me ask you with that now, with the cup stuff and everything got going on, does it trickle down the information of what you got to do of what's going on with the sprint cars stuff? I mean, how does that work? You put a wing on the cup car? No, I mean, I know. I mean, the other way around.
Starting point is 01:41:39 I mean, it's just the information from like, are you guys supporting anything on the engineering side for the sprint cars or? So, you know, we're really lucky where of Eric Pretzman, you know, who's championship winning, you know, crew chief that that runs that deal. they plug in, right? I mean, they plug in more into the manufacturing side of it. You know, I mean, it's like if you want something made or done, you know, it's a pretty, you know, that wind tunnel is right behind us.
Starting point is 01:42:03 I always think about just like, do we just, you know, pop the sprint car back there and just kind of work on, you know, where is there some free down force? But not yet. I mean, it's not, you know, again, I don't want to be a hypocrite about it. I don't want to try to over-engineer, you know, that either. But it's, yeah, the sprint car deal is a real. It's a real thing. But yeah, I mean, we're happy with it.
Starting point is 01:42:25 Obviously, you know, right out of the gate, second and third. And we won our Silver Crown debut last week. You know what I mean? That was pretty big for us. You got a good partner on that side. Oh, Chad's Chad. I'm in the Chad business. I mean, whatever that kid wants to do, I'm in.
Starting point is 01:42:43 I'm in the Chad business. He can just be whatever he wants. You know what I mean? Like, seriously. Like, I think he's super, super, super talented. and he knows how to put those things together or any race car together, I think. Yeah, Chad's smart.
Starting point is 01:42:56 All right, well, good luck this weekend. I hope you finished outside the top ten somewhere. It'd be good. Actually, I need you to win. I don't know why I just said that. Yeah, what the ball. But thank you guys for listening. We'll be back next week after Charlotte.
Starting point is 01:43:15 I think we got Diffie. Is that next week? Diffie. Jeffie and Jeffie and Jeff Burton. no that's when they're here that's at the end of the year when they come for the world finals maybe he's gonna pop in here
