The following is a production of Dirty Mo Media.
What if we left all the spotters out of everything?
That's a terrible idea.
What page are we on?
Why you cursed that?
This is why I'm just you cursing to me.
I think he's a whiny.
That's what I think.
Next thing you know, I got no fire suit on.
Routy Nation fans are getting lucky tonight.
Hey, what's up everybody?
Freddie Kraft here.
Welcome back to Door Bumper Clear.
I am still spotting for Bubba Wallace.
Dean Thompson, G over zero.
This is like, this is, I don't know, we got all three series for, I think, five weeks in a row.
So it'll be a lot of fun racing.
Tommy, how are you today?
I'm good, man.
Bright and early today.
We had to come in early because our guests needed to.
Kevin's got shit to do today.
Carson, how are you today?
I'm great.
I'm excited to have our buddy Kevin on.
Just great.
Did you go?
What about me back?
Oh, yeah, and Tommy's back from vacation.
You already?
I got any of us.
Did you go to the?
dirt race? I mean the
Wyatt's race? No, I did not. Kennedy went. I was home this
weekend. I went to Ace and Tri-County.
But yeah, the race yesterday was badass. A little last lap pass
for the win. Wheatland's cool.
Yeah, it's fun to watch that stuff, man.
It's always been even as a kid, like the, what the hell?
Stadium trucks, right? What the hell are they called?
What the hell are they called? Why am I blanking right now?
Like we call it, like the off-road truck, I guess, is what we call.
Jumpy trucks is what we really call.
I think that's the technical term is jumpy trucks.
Jumpy trucks is what we call them.
Welcome back, Mr. Hamlin.
How are you today, sir?
I'm good. Thanks for having me.
Yeah, they wanted my, they've wanted my owners on here.
So I got Sam a couple weeks ago, and now I got a Hamlin on here.
He's your owner?
Well, Hamlin.
Oh, they meant Danny.
Wrong, yeah.
Oh, wrong.
Did you see that tweet where the guy was calling you a troll for that?
Yeah.
Well, I can be a troll at times.
Yeah.
What's going on, buddy?
How was your race yesterday?
Good.
Good.
You know, we qualified pretty good.
And, um, kind of fell back there at one point.
just with the strategy and stuff with tires and when people pitted and then worked our way back up and finished third.
It was been a good couple weeks for us, so it's been fun.
How comforting is it for you to have Alex back in the car?
Not very.
Not kidding.
No, it's nice, right?
Like when you go through all that and the things that he's battled through, it's, it's, it can be challenging to have different drivers each week because they're going to cater to what they want different.
Luckily, all the people we've had in a car have been great and it's super easy.
you know, to work with.
So getting old boy back's been good.
He's been working hard and it's nice to see things going well for him right now.
Is he still a complete pain in your ass?
Yes.
Yes.
I saw a nice video.
You guys eating jelly beans last week.
That looked fun.
Dude, I don't think Ally's going to ask me back for production days anymore because it turns
into such a dumpster fire with him.
Like that whole sequence was like we couldn't stop laughing.
So what was it you guys did?
You were eating it?
Was it like the jelly bean?
like the game or whatever where they taste like...
Ask a question, if you get it wrong,
you got to eat like this gross jelly bean.
The one that...
Black ones.
And it was...
No, way worse.
No, they taste like throw up and poop and stuff.
What?
It's called bean boozled.
Yeah, and it wasn't...
Who puts throw up and poop and jelly beans?
These people.
These devious people.
So, like, I put the thing on Instagram,
like, shout out to the editing team
because that was, there's...
That whole sequence was 20 minutes,
and they got, like, a solid 40 seconds
of stuff they could actually use.
So, yeah.
You know, obviously you guys are kind of on the long side of things there
try to make the playoffs this year.
Do you guys just approach these weeks now?
Like, we're just here to win and let the cards.
Because you're not completely out of it.
I mean, I look today, I think you're like 127 or 128 points out of 16th.
It's not impossible if you're going a little bit of run.
But like approach-wise, you guys just going in these weekends,
just let's go chase a win and let the cards fall where they may.
Yeah, I don't really feel like they've taken a different approach,
at least from the things I see.
It's still going at it like we always did, right?
And if it works out, it works out.
You know, maybe we could look at it like we got everybody right where we want them right now.
Yeah, I mean, they've been around us in the garage for, you know, pretty much all the year.
You've never seen that team panic, right?
You've never seen the guys panic.
They just come in, they know their job.
And obviously they know that's going to turn around at some point.
There's too many resources, too much, you know, too many good people there to,
for it to fail.
And I think it's so hard to explain how difficult it is for somebody like Justin to get in there
or I can't remember who was driving it before that.
You know, just those just one-offs or a couple in a row where they don't have the experience.
They don't have a lot of time.
There's no practice or 20 minutes of practice, whatever it is, to expect them to go out and compete at a high level.
And Justin, I thought did a really good job.
Obviously, there were some penalties mixed in that kind of cost him some good runs.
But, I mean, I felt like he stepped in adequately.
It's just so hard for these guys to just jump in and hit the ground running.
Yeah, I think it really shows the difference in the cars, right?
Like Justin's probably the best Saturday driver, right?
And he jumps in a car Sunday.
And Vegas, we were really fast.
So we sped getting a pit road.
And I really had to work with him, you know, off of him saying,
hey, this car doesn't slow down like, like, you know, the Saturday cars do.
So we really had to actually back up our pit road so we wouldn't get on so hot and have
penalties.
So there's little things you have to change there.
The cars race way different.
So it's a tall task when you ask somebody like Anthony Alfredo or May it that's doing pit reporting, hey, you got your suit?
Yeah.
That was crazy.
Yeah.
So it's, it's, it was really, really hard for those guys to do that.
They all did a great job.
And, you know, hopefully we don't have to mess with that anymore.
Looking forward.
Wouldn't be an episode of DBC if I didn't mention Cletus.
So you have been, you have been spotting for Cletus for, you did last year too, right?
Yeah, ever since he got into the Arcar car.
Yeah.
How was that going?
I mean, like I was talking about on here a couple weeks ago.
or maybe it was after Taldaigo last week.
The guy I saw run Daytona versus the guy I saw run Talladego look like two different people.
And obviously maybe that's you.
I don't know.
I'd hate to give you any credit.
I know.
But I mean, he was making confident moves in the pack and just I'm sure you noticed it as well on the roof.
Yeah, he's taking this very seriously, right?
Like there's some people that are super excited that he's here doing this and there's some that aren't.
Like Freddie.
No.
I'm kidding.
It's a joke.
But the eyes that he has brought to our sport has been, I mean,
it proofs in the pudding with the numbers and everything.
And even on my little side, he put something on Instagram
and my followers doubled in like a day.
And everybody that replies the stuff says,
I've never watched NASCAR before.
This is awesome.
They listen to our end car.
I had no idea there was so much that went into this.
So he's taking it seriously.
I hope he doesn't try to move up too fast.
I'm glad he's looking to do more arc of stuff.
Thanks to Freddie and I.
Right.
Yeah, thanks to you guys.
So it's, I've really, really enjoyed working with him.
He listens, you know, he wants to do well.
He has fun, right?
He's got to do his little bits with him and squirrel.
They're just all such nice people, car people, which we need, obviously, like we're in an automobile-driven sport.
Yeah, and he's all about the cars.
And I've really enjoyed it and seen him grow, and hopefully he continues to do so.
Yeah, I mean, obviously, you know, and the resources at RCR have helped him, I think.
He's gone over there and worked with old downforce day.
He had seen on the...
Another branch of Cletus of social media
and what he's got going on.
But you could...
I mean, just the amount of confidence he had at that race tell day.
You looked to me.
I mean, side drafting, you know, passing guy, you know,
taking runs when they were available to him.
He did a great job.
But I agree with you.
Like, I just want to see this story build up from where it's at.
Like run a full year arc.
Take your content to all these badass archa tracks they go to,
like Salem and Winchester, you know, Berlin.
And then obviously all the cup tracks too.
But, you know, I just feel like that's such a good story of showing the come-up versus, like, I'm just going to jump to the top and then run.
Because like I said, he's going to go to Nashville and he's going to struggle.
And that's what it's supposed to do.
You know, that shit, it's a big jump to get there.
But like, to your point, I think that it's like seeing him have success in ARCA is right this moment more beneficial to our sport than just saying, all right, go run 30th in an or Riley race and just try to get better from there.
He's going to be in the cars tour pretty soon, too, I heard, right?
Yeah, I saw on Twitter that he's apparently building a pro, so we'll see.
I got shit.
Did you see that tweet?
I was just trying to make a little fun.
I think it was Front Stretch posted it.
And Front Stretch posted, Cleans McFarland is building a late model stock car to run the pro-late
models with the car store store.
And I was like, well, what is he building?
Is he building a late-model stock car?
He built in a pro car.
Just a little poking fun.
I know you hate Cleetus.
I don't know why they think that.
I just don't know why they think that.
I'm just trying to make a little bit of fun of whoever wrote the head tweet.
But I was going to say, I don't think a lay-mile stock car is going to be competitive against the pro.
Hey, it's kind of way they were.
Were they?
They're going to same speed.
But, yeah, I mean, but I think it's just great.
He's great for the sport.
We've said that since Daytona when we talked about this.
And I just, I think he can do more for the sport when he runs better in ARCA than I think, I feel like if people, his fans are obviously rabid followers.
So they're going to do whatever he wants.
You know, they're going to follow him to do whatever.
but like I feel like they could lose interest
if he just goes out and runs O'Reilly
and he's running in the 30s for the first
three or four months or whatever it takes
to get up to speed. I feel like
we might lose some of that, but if he goes out and
runs and contends for wins and top
fives and ARCA, it just ramps up that fan base
even more and I just hope he continues on that path.
How is Texas for everybody else, Freddie, Tommy?
For us, it started off pretty bad, but it got, we had
a good day yesterday. Obviously, wrecked in practice.
Still really don't know, just kind of
got away from a little bit. Obviously,
got beyond edge there to be fast and we were hauling ass at that point and just lost it.
I was looking down.
I looked down on my timing and scoring to see kind of how we compared to some guys that were on similar tires.
And I looked up and we were sliding towards the wall and I was, oh, shit.
But yeah, so unfortunately there, we lost a really, really good car, but car was fast on Sunday, too.
drove from the back to the front.
I think we were 12th by the end of the stage one.
So I'm just kind of hung out there.
Really didn't have much more to get past that, I don't think.
It was it was hard to pass, man.
It was, I know you're not telling you.
You mean, you don't already know, but it was difficult to pass when we got there.
So we kind of got stuck around that ninth to 12th range and had a good restart at the end and got home with top 10.
That was your day, Tom.
Great.
Yeah.
I saw, I saw, I mean, decent speed and qualifying.
I saw you beat a handful of guys of Blaney.
Did you talk shit to Blaney?
No, I saw.
And what happened to him?
He must have.
I don't even, I didn't see his love.
I mean, he drove all the way up to like Blaney did all the way up to like 14th, the first run.
And next thing you know, it was.
last, but did something happen on Pitt Road or do you reckon?
I mean, I don't know, but I would have to guess something probably happened on
Pit Road. If I was a betting man, I would go with Pit Road.
I don't know. I have no idea. I did see he was kind of right behind us
for a lot of the race, 15th-ish.
Chase Elliott wins the race. I mean, really fast car all day long.
Got, you know, got out front a bunch of times and just, it was hard to compete with
clean air. I looked and it was, you know, lap time-wise, we were running 10th.
and from 10th to like second was the same speed,
basically within a 10th of each other.
The leader was three or four times better than that guy.
So I felt like,
I mean,
I'm sure you guys experiencing the package
that clean air was king.
Like if you got in traffic,
it was really tough to get in.
Like I looked down and I kind of keep track of where we're at,
like if that was a good lap, whatever.
And it was like,
okay,
we're like third quick there.
And the next lap we're a couple hundreds off what we just ran.
And then we go from like third quick to like 15th.
I'm like, damn.
So it was tough.
Like I think the race would have been great
if we had a little more tire.
Yeah.
Like, because I think it was really good Friday and Saturday with that.
They really meant something.
I know Tommy is kind of a bit of a fan of the tire wear.
But, yeah, so it was tough because we were running the same speed a lot.
Yeah, I love when the crew chief, I won't be focused solely on my timing and scoring the crew chief.
We're just as fast as a leader.
Or we're fastest car on track right there.
And I look down and it's like thousands of a second.
432 to 431.
I'm like, we can't catch the guy in 12, but we're the fastest car on the track right now.
I mean, we, we, I think we all seen it in practice how hard it was.
I mean, it was kind of like a little wall there when you get to about six car lengths back and it just, you would just stop.
Yeah.
We slowed down.
In practice, we slowed down a second behind somebody.
Like, we would be, we were decent.
We were top five car, I think.
And we waited a little bit to go out, so we had a little bit fresher rubber than everybody that was on the track already.
And we were, whatever we ran, I can't remember what the lap time was.
But we literally, I think it was like a 2930 or 20.
29, 40, something like that, maybe.
And we caught the 24 and Riley were together, and we slowed down a second.
And then that's where we were stuck until we came in the pits 20 laps later.
So it's crazy that it just has that much effect.
Because you saw it.
I mean, I'm sure you saw it yesterday.
You would work on a guy, couldn't get around him, couldn't get around him, couldn't get around him, couldn't get around him.
You pass them.
You put a straight away on him in two laps because it was just back to clean air and you can get away from everybody.
Shout out to Herps.
You already mentioned him.
He ran good all day, man.
Man, I feel, I hate that he, he was going to finish seventh without that caution.
And, of course, he gets knocked out of the top 10 on the restart.
They stayed out, took the bottom and kind of got swallowed up a little bit on a restart.
But yeah, I hated it because he ran top 10, essentially, once they got on track position, he kept it.
And, you know, he was having a great day.
He was all over, talking about hard to pass.
He was all over like Ross and Sores, who were two of the hardest guys to pass for top five.
And then obviously at the end there, they lose a little bit of spots.
So I really wanted to get that top 10, but unfortunately, I don't get bonus for them too?
I don't.
I don't get any bonuses except for wins.
Routy, poor rowdy.
I wanted to ask you about that, but we'll get to the other stuff later on in the show.
But, I mean, obviously they make crew chief change this week.
Andy Street comes in for Pullman, and instantly they qualify in a top 10.
He runs top 10 all race long.
How does that switch flip so fast?
I don't know.
I mean.
Run the same shit.
They didn't change much.
I mean, you got an idea what they're running.
Like, it's just, I mean, obviously he's always been pretty good at Texas.
But, like, it's just, I mean, they weren't even in the ballpark for the last season, essentially.
Yeah, I mean, if you remember, Andy came on board the last three or four races last year,
and they had some pretty good runs.
So obviously, there's a confidence thing there.
And, you know, Andy might be doing a couple small things, you know, to the car that he likes, that he knows that he likes.
But I tell you, Richard is like all in, man, to make it work.
And I did see some, I didn't read all the quotes from him,
but I did see somewhere where they said,
Kyle addressed the shop this week and said he was all in.
And, you know, we're all just going to get after this.
And obviously the crew chief change comes now.
And we see results.
He's listening to us too, right?
It must be.
Dude.
After this show, he may never, ever again.
No, I mean, he had a good day, man.
Well, he had a 266-half laps of a good day.
They melted down him and Ney.
Neeland melted down together during that.
Yeah, they did.
Neeland runs one arc of race.
He thinks he's controlling Kyle Bush now.
Hey, he ran good.
I wonder if he's got ice on his crotch this morning.
I didn't understand that reference.
I didn't get that part either.
Probably because he's probably saying it nice way.
You got big balls the way you're talking to me right now.
I mean, I get to go back and forth with Bubba a lot and we give each other a lot of shit.
I mean, how do you and I don't know if you and Alex Radio, you guys go back and fourth a lot on the racetrack?
It's been rare, like the eight or nine years we've been working together.
Like, we've had situations like that.
And certain drivers are going to want a pump-up speech at some time.
And certain times they're not going to want it.
And I have learned over my years of when that's not a good time.
And I thought it was fine the way that they have obviously a very good working relationship, right?
Derek's very comfortable in that situation.
And Kyle, in the nicest way, I think Kyle can say, we're like, I'm fine.
Like, it's fine.
Yeah, that's the other thing people got to remember
is it's Kyle Bush.
It's not the same way that most people
would probably articulate a thought.
It was funny because Hirschman,
the uses ball form actually was a psychology major in college.
And I was like, he's got the wrong guy
because Hirsch was the psych guy.
But yeah, I mean, it's all last week, me and Bubba.
And a lot of it, a lot of my arguments with Bubba
come from relaying messages from the pit box
is what happens usually because he's out there
kind of on an island and they'll be like last week.
They're like, we need to pass a 60.
And I'm like, I know.
I'm aware.
Yeah, that's what I'm aware.
And they're like,
Taladega, they're like, we got to pass them.
I was like, all right.
So I tell Bubba, like, initially, I'm like,
we really want to work hard to pass a 60
because we know he was going to start saving
to get to the end of the stage.
And then we kind of got dragged off the pack.
So now it's just us in the 60.
And I'm like, they really want you to pass a 60.
And he's like, yeah, I got it.
And then we run about five more laps.
And they're like, Freddie, we urgently need to pass a 60.
I'm like, okay, watch this.
I said, Bubba, we urgently need to pass a 60.
I want to see you get in here and do this.
I said, I can't.
I can't even fit in the window.
I'm sorry.
But yeah, no, it's, I mean, it's, and to have, you got to have that relationship.
Even, you know, like, I feel like the most successful guys relationship-wise are people you can be honest with.
I mean, I know it may not happen on the radio, but I'm sure you and Alex have conversations afterwards about and hold each other accountable for whatever the hell happens.
Even Bubba, Bubba has never been like, Freddie fucked that up.
You know, there was one time I, we were three wide.
racing somebody in an Xfinity or O'Reilly series at the time.
And, uh, wow, I just was focused so focused on three wide of Vegas that I, there's somebody
spun in front of us and I never saw it. And Bubba late, late tried to miss it.
Claubred the guy, destroyed our race car.
Well, 100% my fault probably. And, uh, the, the Yocum was interviewing him and trying to
get me to throw, trying to get him to throw me under the bus. And he's like, nah,
he's like, Freddie was a little late there. He's like, no, it's my job to miss, whatever.
So like, I think you had that relationship, like, no matter, afterwards, he's like,
damn, man, what the hell?
I was like, hey, this is what happened.
I'm sorry.
But, like, he'll never go publicly just throw you under the bus.
Hey, everybody.
This is Dale Jr.
And for the latest DBC gear, go to shop.
dirtymo Media.com.
We've added some new shirts.
There's one called Win or lose.
We're drinking booze.
Everything seems to be about drinking here at Dirty Mo Media.
Go check it out now.
Talk about Alan Guston called to win the race.
I mean, was that?
It's balls, man.
I mean, you're in that position,
And then it's like, we all know yesterday, I mean, once it goes green after caution, your times are pretty fast, right?
For two, three, four laps before the tires get some heat in them.
And then to wear, it's weird at certain tracks, you can do that.
But once the tires get hot, it recognizes the wear, right?
So you have a three or four lap window that you can drive your ass off in clean air.
Like the guys that stayed out and were in the last seventh, eighth, they got swallowed up because of it.
But for that many amount of guys to stay out, he was golden.
I mean, for everybody to do that, you guys stayed out, right?
And you ended up picking up one spot, right?
You were fourth, picked that and finish third.
And then, you know, I was going to be interested.
I was surprised that Denny wasn't as good as I thought he was going to be on the restart
and was going to contend for the win.
But, you know, once you get clean air there, man, you can just do this a little bit there.
Did Denny have four?
No, Denny stayed out.
Okay, so the 45 to 2.
45 was the first one on 2.
I saw him coming and I thought we were all host.
45 to 17.
He got tight down on the bottom through 1 and 2.
And then I'm like, I told Alex, if he gets to you, like run him tight down there.
Yeah.
But I thought that the 45 to your point was going to be coming in a hurry and it kind of plateaued out.
Yeah, it was, you know, like I think our call was basically front row or pit.
Like when you said, you need to have that clean air.
Like if you can't put yourself, I feel like in row three or four on old tires.
especially when there's going to be new tires right behind you, whether it's two or four.
But, yeah, once we saw the field of the, I think the first four, somebody pitted up there, maybe Reddick.
17 and Redick and 17.
But then there was a handful that stayed out.
So it was an easy call for us to come, and we gained, I think, three or four spots out of it.
But, yeah, just basically by the guys that were.
You do two or four?
We did two.
And there was, I think there was, I mean, a lot guys did two behind us, too.
So that helped us a lot.
Did anybody do four?
I don't think so that contended to get back in the top 10.
Yeah.
I'll tell you who needs to find a horseshoe is poor Christopher Bell.
I mean, this guy has had fast race cars for the last.
I mean, I'm sure some other shit happened before Bristol.
But I mean, Bristol was kind of self-inflicted.
He was hauling ass there, got a penalty, gets in defense on the restart, breaks toe link, puts him side of the race.
Kansas really fast race car up there, top three or four at the end, kind of gets wrecked by Tyler at the end there.
he ends up on pit road again this week
I saw
I had an interview Kevin you like
on the roof it's right in front of us
you know
where he was at he said he had a 50-50
choice of throttle up and try to get by him or check up
and obviously he chose the wrong way
yeah it can go either way that that was rough
and I feel bad for those guys too just because
they've been really fast and
yeah those are one of those situations
where you just close your eyes and you hope you make it through
it happened to us
not that long after that with I think it was a
24 spun and we were right behind him and i'm i get down all the way down because it's like you know
they're going to come there's once they like they're in the throttle trying to keep it off the wall
so once that thing kind of bites they're shooting back across this way as fast as they can um yeah
we we we we got lucky there um joey that was one where joey just barely missed him was it the 24
i think it was he spun off a four yeah and joey was committed to the bottom with us and the 24
came in between us and it was joey did everything he could to hang back to the right and just barely
missed them.
Then knocked the left front off.
And I don't like, talk about that for a second.
Obviously, we talked about this with somebody a couple weeks ago about whose responsibility
it is.
I think it was when Blaney and the 16 got together.
I don't know.
That's a tough deal.
I don't know who to fault because the 41 is trying to give somebody else a break.
So he checks up for that guy.
And here comes Joey out of the box.
And somebody's like, he just ran right into him.
I'm like, well, he's also looking at his, try to get his lights, right?
He's three wide at that point.
You know, I mean, is that just a racing deal?
race and that's a tough deal right there i mean that all happened so quick you know i was we were
only three four stalls back that happened so quick it was like wow yeah i mean Kevin i know how yeah
do you do it the same way i do it like do you call 10 away the the crew chief gets him in the box
chief gets him out and then you take over at some point in there whenever he gets off but that's such
a tricky thing for us because in that moment like that's almost where coleman would be taking back
over because he's a couple stalls away from where he was but coleman can't anticipate
the 41 just going to stop to let the other guy go.
It's such a tricky situation for us.
There are so many different people doing different things with tires, right?
So it's not like we're all in there getting forward and kind of leaving at the same time.
It was just, and I panic.
Like I was like, oh, you know, like I freaked out on radio.
Good spot.
Yeah, it was awesome.
I was like, watch out.
Yeah, when I start screaming, shit's going down.
But yeah, because you don't want to step on the crew chief, right?
Because the crew chief's still getting them out.
So that's, I agree with Tommy.
This is really just one of those deals.
Really good run for Corey Haim yesterday.
Obviously, not the result he wanted, but you put fast cars in clean air and they're going to go fast.
He was checked out there for a little while.
If he would have caught a caution, he would have been in pretty good shape.
But obviously, he was short on fuel, needed to pit, lost a lap.
Then he was getting ready to unlap himself when the yellow came out.
So he ended up with the Lucky Dog and ended up bent in the back and never really heard from again.
Yeah, but I was confused.
You know, they put two on there.
And then I was watching the lap times.
I was, they were, when they came out after about 10 laps, they weren't really that good anymore.
Because of the only taken two, and I was surprised, you know, not going to, like, blast through the field.
But, yeah, he had a good day.
I mean, when you, it's hard.
When you're doing opposite things and when you're not seeing the check of, tit to check it flag,
you're going to be in that position to go do things, right?
You know, I thought there was a time there.
It was like five of those guys that stayed out.
Look, you look at all the data from the past history of the last two years,
three years at a Texas races,
there's a lot more cautions happening during those periods, right?
Yeah, we had like 16 cautious last year or something?
Well, even the year before.
So those guys were banking on history, right, on some of that stuff to happen,
and it just never did.
I thought it was interesting when Brad stayed out there, whatever that was.
Same thing.
That was a doubt. Brad, it was just Brad and Priest when they, it was like two to go in that stage.
Yeah. They took the points, but I mean, I don't even know where they ended up. I know. I think it ended up netting okay for Brad. I think he probably got more points than we did because he was, I think, 13th and we ended up ninth. And he had whatever seven.
Yeah. And he had six or seven points. So, you know, it's a, you got to chase points, right? I mean, if you're those guys, like Priests is, you know, kind of 12th hovering around. You got to, you got to trace every point you get and hope it comes back to you later, right?
Yeah, that was a, I think that was a good move.
at the time to do that.
They didn't win, right, the stage now.
No.
But they got, I think they got third and fifth at the stage.
Stenhouse, too.
I mean, Magic Mike put...
I know.
They didn't end up with the finish.
Their finish, I looked at last, it was surprising to me
because I felt like they were top 12, 15 speed, most of the race.
And then, I think they finished, like, outside the top of the morning.
They got, once they got in the back after the stuff,
they really couldn't make anything.
Old Magic Mike was working it again.
Yeah, man.
They got that voodoo doctor comes since visism every now and then.
Saw a lot of guys spin, right?
Saw Larson Rick, Byron Rick, Reck, Byron Spun,
Heim Spun.
Like, is this just a product of this racetrack?
These guys on edge that bump in three and four, obviously.
Yeah.
And when you have to drive the cars as loose as they need to be driven,
those bumps become more violent because you're, you know,
counter-steering and steering.
It's pretty tough, man.
I mean...
Kev, you, I mean, there's not for being...
You know, the driver is not being athletes.
they do a pretty good job, right?
I don't know about you, but every time we're outside of somebody in three and four,
like tight on each other, it's like a little bit of a puck or like, oh, God,
like are we going to hit that bump the wrong way right here or not?
Yeah, it's sketch.
It's hard, right?
Like with these cars especially, you don't see guys back.
Like when I drove, I backed it in all the time.
That's why I spot now, you know?
So it's rare when, you know, you see it these days.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
All right.
Anything happened in the O'Reilly race?
Surprise, surprise,
Larsen wins.
What a battle him and Algeyer.
It's crazy, man.
How much he was complaining about how the car was so tight,
tight, tight, tight, tie, tie, plowing tight.
And they just, next thing you know, man, there he is.
Yeah.
The one, the seven car was the best car.
What was going on on that restart?
I saw the clip on the big screen of them just kind of run.
Was it just fighting over?
Like, I know I saw Larson say that Justin was trying to run them up into the marbles
or something like that to move him up the hill a little bit,
Is that all that was going on there?
I just think they were just trying to clean the tires off.
I didn't see everything about that.
How was your day on Saturday, Kevin?
It was good.
We run third Saturday, too, so I had...
Fucking Cletus, fucking third.
This guy's on a fucking roll.
Yeah, we won't talk about the truck race Friday.
Who would you do to truck?
Tyler Ancrum.
Oh.
But, yeah, no, we had a good day, too, and we were really tight to whole race, too.
And Sam did a really good job of figuring out a better line and one and two that was really fast.
Yeah, that race.
race, I mean, the Saturday race is the most, the most fun to spot right now for me anyway.
Yeah, for sure.
Probably agree. It's just, you're just so, it's, you can be on offense when your car is good.
You know, you can, you can, you can, you can, you can race around guys and have a lot.
It's just a lot of fun. Dean did a good job on Saturday. We kind of had a 15th place car,
and that's where he finished 16th, ran there all day long. And that's always there.
I mean, that's just finishes. That's all you got to do. That's what you got to do in those
moments where, you know, like we talked about with him, I've talked about it here.
You try to take a 15th place car and run 12th with it. You're going to end.
up 25th probably um so you know just take what take what the car gives you and he had a good day
when a lot of guys didn't so we made up some ground of the points um so uh but yeah that that racing up front
there was was wild in that race um though i do have a truck race man oh yeah i don't want to talk
about the truck race i'm still my feeling still hurt but truck race is just as good i did want to
give a shout out before we move to truck race uh brent Cruz wins the 100 100 000 his fourth top five
in a row um this kid's pretty he's buying all the food for the
for the cookout.
That four top fives is equal to the other three cars combined this year,
which is pretty surprising to me.
Not surprising on Brent's side, but those guys got a lot of speeds.
I saw that stat on Twitter, and I was like,
there's no way that's true.
And I looked it up.
And I was like, actually right.
But Brent's just doing an incredible job.
I mean, I looked at his average finish is like ninth right now.
And if you take out the Rockingham race that he probably should have won
because they put two tires on and he finished 26.
These average finishes like six and maybe has a win at this point.
He's flash.
He's pretty good.
He's,
I feel confident in saying the pace he's on,
he's the heir apparent to that 11 car.
I would say so.
I think that's got to be in the plans.
Or one of the cars.
Or one of those cars, yeah.
But I would assume that one would be the first open up if this guy that drives it now
actually sticks to his plan of retiring after next year.
How do you mean?
How do you retire running a little?
way you're running, man.
There's no way he's retired.
Some bitch can, I mean, he could
probably do it for another five years the way
he's doing it. I mean, I'm not,
I'll believe it when I see it.
Yeah, I don't believe it, man.
He's just too good.
Yeah. But Kevin, like,
who stands out to you? Like, obviously,
we see a lot of racing, whether it's trucks,
Exfinity, Arka, or, I'm sorry,
O'Reilly Arka, Cup.
Like, who stands out to you, like,
noticeably, like, you know, obviously a Retzloff guy
is somebody that I notice on a weekly basis, like,
another top five for him this week.
is there people you notice the younger guys
especially in ARCA or
or the truck series that you're like wow that guy
is somebody you got to keep an eye on?
Yeah, I think it's who everybody you guys were talking about
and Parker's done a good job of working on his racecraft
right? Last couple years he could qualify really well
and when the race started
he didn't really run up front. I remember
at Vegas a couple years ago he qualified
like third or something and was struggling
and ended up I think crashing off a four
and took us while Sam was racing here
but now he can qualify
and he can race.
So I think he's got a very high ceiling of, you know,
what he can do.
And obviously, Brent, too.
It's exciting, the talent pool that we have and even the younger drivers and the cars
tour that are coming up as well.
Like, I think as far as that goes, the sports in a good spot, you know, for a long time.
The move down the front straightaway where there were three wide, Brent wedges it in there,
is hanging on for dear life.
I told, I saw him Bubby yesterday in the hauler.
I said, that's the kid I saw at Millbridge when he was 12, just crashing into the
wall every lap. I said he doesn't care.
Like he's got enough talent to make it work.
He just, he just goes for every opportunity
that's there. He's all out all the time.
Be careful. And he's, you know, that was,
that was, that was, that was, that was,
that was on the edge right there.
Because that could end up really, really badly.
But yeah, I mean, that's, that's just,
the way I've ever seen that kid race is like that.
Like, just wide open at all times.
I'm going to get every hole that I can get.
And some, it's, it's, eventually it's probably going to come back to bite him.
But for right now, it's just really fun to watch.
It's always easier to,
slow a driver down and speed of driver
down, then speed a driver off too.
Truck race, weren't you want to...
Did you say you wanted to get in the truck race or no?
I mean, we could talk about it, I guess.
It's just heartbreaking.
It is heartbreaking.
Who brought that caution out?
It was Wences's fault, apparently.
Listen, it was a really good race for us.
Some hard hits.
Oh, man. Justin Haley.
Oh, my goodness.
Yeah, I mean, even...
It was before that, too. There was another big record in that race before that,
I feel like, too.
Or that might have been on Saturday with the 42 car.
But, yeah, I...
Gio did a really, really good job Saturday, on Friday.
He, I mean, obviously the results don't show that,
and I know he's bummed about the results.
But, man, you know, you're going out there with Hosevar and Kyle Busch and Honeycutt,
who were probably the three best trucks in that race with you,
along with us, our truck was really good.
And just kind of got beat by, you know, gamesmanship at the end there.
You know, Gio needed to be just a little more aggressive with the side draft on the backstretch,
probably a little more aggressive trying to get Carson up out of his lane in three and four.
and just, you know, and that just allowed,
you kind of did it late, so we got loose,
and then we got split down the front stretch.
Obviously, we get into one,
and Caden got a little free underneath us,
and we got a little free and kind of chased it up the hill.
But, yeah, I mean, he did a great job.
It was good racing.
I mean, and it was clean, I thought, you know, for the most part.
If you think about it, though,
was between Friday's race and Saturday's race,
they were both great racing, but they were racing differently, right?
The trucks were using the draft and, you know,
not handling as well through the corners,
where the Xfinity just don't handle, right?
They're just out of control.
You got to drive the crap at them.
But two good races with two different types of racing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, it was fun to spot that race.
And I told Gia, I was like, you know, afterwards,
I said, this is the hardest place to do this at.
You know what I mean?
Like you got, you're coming out of front stretch.
There's somebody, the host of ours up your ass,
trying to split your bottom top,
whatever way he can go.
He's going to get inside of you or middle of you.
Like, you can't block all the lanes on him, especially.
But then, like, it's not just, you know,
your Kansas or your Vegas,
where you're just going to be wide open.
and ripping.
You turn one's probably the hardest run that, you know, mile and a half corner they got this year.
And then, you know, defending three and four when they're wide open.
So I was really proud of him.
He did a really good job, obviously.
And I told him, I said, you just learn from this.
You'll be better the next time.
You'll see how much more aggressive you've got to be.
And, you know, I think that there was some point last year where he was trying to side draft somebody,
maybe Majeski and got into him and wrecked him.
And I think that made him a little gun shy.
He doesn't want to do that again because, you know, you don't want to race that way.
but unfortunately in those situations
if you're not that
aggressive obviously you see what happens
you don't you know nice guys finish 14th
you got anything to add
no you sure
you know I wanted to ask you by the truck race
and we this is I mean it's kind of across the board
right we want these cars or trucks
as light as possible for qualifying
do we need to have at least enough fuel in there
to make one lap
yeah it's crazy because
Drew I was talking to Drew
he comes I said what's going
he goes we ran out of gas
he goes he goes you know we 42 laps but we ran 35 wide open in practice you know didn't even think about it you know
he came down the front stretch I don't know you're up there for truck qualifying still but he comes down the front stretch and he just got to start finish like but oh he blew up I'm like I don't know if he blew up sounds like you ran out of gas yeah well I mean you try to be as close as you possibly can for for not only being light but for nose weight yeah to you know counter the tape you're going to put on so you're mad
the balance of the truck from the arrow add addition to more downforce and less drag to the mechanical tightness to tighten it up for that extra stuff.
So you have to try to run those trucks and Xfinity cars and even the cup cars.
That's why those guys are running a lot of laps just for that reason.
Yeah.
And what's the, so you got to start practice full.
Yeah.
And so you have to start practice full.
So that's why we run as many lapses we do.
We're trying to burn fuel and just get the cars to that spot for qualifying.
Yeah.
There's a certain spot.
And we're all looking for to get to.
I mean, it's all.
There's no reason behind all of it.
All the game.
You got anything there?
No, I was just waiting for you to say the word after all.
He's just stopped talking about it.
I was looking at you see what you were adding because you kind of pissed off today.
I just want to make sure.
Well, y'all pissed me off.
So here I am.
I did not realize.
Obviously, our thoughts are with Alex and Artie family.
He passed away, I think, Friday or Saturday.
That's a sad story there.
You know, obviously just unbelievable.
car driver.
I did not realize that probes got promoted this week.
Everybody got promoted.
He didn't even come on the show.
I looked on the list.
I never seen so many vice presidents of things in my life, all the promotions.
You want to be a vice president or something?
Yeah, yeah.
You'd be vice president of DVC.
I was going to say technically, isn't he?
I mean, we have O'Donnell on.
He gets promoted.
That was a direct result of coming on here.
They saw how good he did on here, and they were like, you know what?
We talked shit about Cleodellonnell.
Cletus is not Cletus, but Cletus is
Ascent. Ascent and things that he needs to do. Look at him.
We talk about Hosevor for two months. Look at him. He's not running into anybody.
This show is real, Fred.
This show is changing lives.
God.
All right, before we get into Spot On Spot Off, we want to remind you guys about
Fan Day again coming up on May 21st here at J.R.M.
Dirty Mo Media and Series XM will be putting on a handful of shows that day.
Presented by our friends at Arby's, starting with Larry
Mac and Danielle Trotta at 9 a.m.
And at 11 a.m. We're going to kick off Dirty Moe live with a crew that I personally think is
going to be quite exciting. We have Kenny Wallace, Mike Davis, and two surprise guests.
Following that at noon, we'll be Bless Your Heart with Dale and Amy Earnhardt and the best we
saved for last was Door Bumper Clear. Tommy is going to get to join us this year.
And then we also have Jordan Bianchi joining us at 1 o'clock. So come hang out with us that day.
And we would love to see you out here enjoying the fun of JRM fan day.
Kev, you want to bring the little pink mobility you got to hang out over here for a day or something?
Maybe.
Did you drive that here today?
No, I would have to go to ABR to grab it.
I thought about it, but then that would entail getting up people.
I was like, I wouldn't get up that early if I was you.
That would have been great.
That would have been great.
Spot on.
Spot on.
Did you want to go first on this one?
I think he's a whiny bit.
That's what I think.
Send it.
Why me?
All right, spot on, spot off.
First topic.
The towers should have been quick.
quicker to throw the caution for John Hunter and Emacheck.
Spot on, spot off. Tommy?
Why?
Spot on or spot off?
I know, but spot off.
Spot off.
You think they should have thrown the yellow?
Have you done this show before?
No.
But why they haven't thrown cautions that quick all year, right?
Well, they did one time.
Yeah.
You were spinning.
Yeah.
You know, I don't know.
I think it depends on who you're a fan of and who you bet on whether or not you want
one of this yellow here.
Why?
That's my reply.
He did get on pit road pretty quick, though, right?
Yeah, so what happened was he got up in the fence and, you know, we'll talk about that in a minute, how he got in the fence.
But he got in the fence didn't really spin.
Obviously, it's a ways up there.
Nobody's running anywhere near the wall in either end of the racetrack here.
So he gets knocked way up the racetrack.
He's in the wall.
He starts to do like a half a spin.
I would say most of the field was already by him by the time he spun.
Maybe there was a couple guys left back there.
ends up sitting in the middle of a racetrack in four
let's go to the break
rolls down the hill obviously
gone by the time we got there
track was clear
my thing is I don't know
I've said this forever on here
I feel like if it's a caution at lap 50
it should be a caution at lap 266
yeah you have to do the same thing
no matter when yeah
and I think that would have been an instant caution at lap 50
so why isn't it an instant caution
at lap 266
I understand other factors come into play
I'm sure, you know, I don't want to say who's leading the race controls, some of the stuff that we do.
But, you know, I watched it.
It was happy.
The leaders were just getting off a four as he hit the fence.
I'm watching like, oh, should, are they going to throw it?
Are they going to throw it?
They didn't throw it.
By the time, they didn't throw it.
And once they don't throw it at the time, you take the white, then you might as well let us race back then because.
That's exactly what they do.
And so I don't know that they really wanted to, I don't know where the leader was when he actually spun.
I know when he hit the fence, we were like in four.
and then by the time he actually spun
and was sitting there, I think we were probably past the line.
So I don't know, but I just feel like, Kevin,
I think you would probably maybe agree.
I don't know, maybe you disagree.
If that happens at lap 50, that car goes up and hits the wall
and starts a half spin, the yellow's coming out almost instantly.
Yeah, they'd probably throw it there.
Like, I could have gone either way with wanting to caution.
Yeah, you were running.
You would have been gobbled up for the next one.
Yeah, so we had a good restart and we gained a spot.
Like, you always want another shot at a win,
but then, you know, you got guys on a little fresher tires behind you,
so it could have gone either way, but at least we got back to finish it.
Like, it really, and him able to move.
If he, like, we're getting into three and he's still sitting there,
then race over, that kind of would have been a not-so-great ending, I feel like.
Yeah, I just hate, I don't know.
I just hate that we throw caution sometimes based on what lap it is
or where we are in a pit cycle.
Like, I just, I've always going to feel like a yellow is a yellow whenever it is a yellow.
You know, if it's a yellow at lap, whatever, it should be a yellow at all times.
The problem is that they would face so much, you know, just if they throw it after one to go and the race is over, everyone's going to complain.
Oh, yeah. Right. Let a race to the checker. You know, it was getting ready to be a good race. Well, they did.
And it's a no-win position because they got blasted, whatever it was, two weeks ago, when they threw the yellow and essentially, you know, cost any a win.
You know, and it didn't cost any win, but it wasn't their idea. They just threw the yellow because you guys spun.
But he also spun right in front of the yellow.
the leaders, you know, so there's so many different factors into it.
I just, again, I just harp on the same thing that if you were going to throw the yellow for that
incident earlier, you probably should have threw it right away there.
I think it's an easier call when you're up and you're kind of out of the way and you're
towards the back because by the time they got done wrestling those two, they weren't very good shape.
Yeah, they were mid-pack of best.
And then like I said, by the time he spun, there might have been one or two guys still back
there.
We possibly saw Kyle Bush and Ryan Priest intentionally wrecked drivers and NASCAR should have
handed out penalties this week.
Spot on, spot off.
I don't know.
I think that, so obviously,
we can talk about what happened.
Kyle Bush and Nemechek first.
We'll go with that one.
I think we can go a priest first because that was a little less egregious.
I feel like the only thing priest did wrong was say he was going to do it and then did it.
Looked, and I didn't know, unless somebody saw a different replay, the, the Gibbs,
what started this looked to me like maybe I only saw the end car.
from Ryan.
So it looks like maybe down the front,
Ty makes a late move into one
and maybe catches Ryan off guard,
slides up to race track a little bit.
I didn't really see any contact.
He hit him a little bit.
A little bit.
I couldn't tell on the video.
Obviously, pisses Ryan off.
He voices his displeasure for about a lap
and I haven't seemed like.
But unfortunately, he says,
like when I get to that guy,
I'm done with him or whatever.
And when he got to that guy,
he was done with him.
He says he didn't touch him in the moment.
I looked to me like he got in the back
of him and knocked him up the racetrack.
And again, I don't think that's, I don't think that would warrant a penalty other than the fact
that he said he was going to do it before he did it.
He's always been consistent through his whole career.
It's like, you mess with me, right?
You drive me like an asshole.
There's going to be consequences.
But was that, I mean, I don't, was that driving like an asshole?
No, I think he got, went in deep to 54.
If you've seen, you've seen the car do a little bit of this and got up into him.
And just, I just didn't think.
In either one of these scenarios, I didn't think what happened on the racetrack deserved the response.
Well, I think the past.
The past with those guys on how they race.
I mean, obviously, Gibbs is not racing close to how he used to race, right?
Yeah, way better.
Right?
Way better.
But it was aggressive in the beginning.
So people don't forget that right away, right?
So if something immediately happens, they're going to snap.
Same with Nemechek.
I mean, he's very aggressive.
Neumacheck is aggressive.
And he drove me crazy yesterday.
Ryan didn't chase him up the track to get him.
Like it was a really tight window for Ty to get in.
He got in.
Ryan buried it off in there.
So it's,
it wasn't,
I don't think it was egregious enough to where he,
neither one of these are going to be a penalty.
No.
That second one,
I mean,
if there was ever going to be a penalty for something other than a right hook,
that might get it.
I don't,
it's not,
I don't think it should be a suspension.
We'll talk about the backstretch there because I saw,
I see both sides of it,
I guess,
you could say,
obviously you come down a backstretch.
Kyle comes up on the 42.
The 42 is not all the way up against the wall.
Kyle comes up, turns himself across 42's nose.
Kevin, is it the job of the 42 to be where Kyle wants him to be?
Does he have to be against the wall?
I looked at that a lot because I figured we were going to talk about it.
And to me, it's like they just met in the middle.
They both had their lines where they were going to go,
and they just met in the middle, and it was just one of those things.
Yeah.
I think that Kyle mentioned, like, he's in his blind spot.
Kyle can't see him.
He's relying on Derek.
Derek is telling him he's out there.
but what's going on in Kyle's mind is he's
driving off of either the seams on the racetrack
or the car in front of John Hunter
because he can't see John Hunter.
So if the car in front of John Hunter is on the wall
and Kyle's kind of following that trace,
he's thinking he's got another half a car width to go up
and John Hunter's down just that little bit.
Now they're hooked in the fence,
which is I think that's just a racing deal, whatever.
But the shit that happened in three and four,
I didn't understand like it.
I don't know if something happened to
when he ran into him, the A-car, I mean, he went right up the track.
It's not like he- He hit pretty hard.
Yeah.
When Kyle hit the wall, he hit pretty hard.
I don't know if a toe link bent or something, and he went in it.
And I don't know.
I don't know any of it.
I'm just guessing that there could have been something happened after that.
It seemed like it turned right, okay.
It turned to the right pretty well.
Well, yeah, it would.
I don't know how well it was making lefts.
It made a good right.
But, you know, and listen, I'm sure I'm going to get shit for being a hypocrite on here because they, Bubba, you know, turned somebody at Martinsville a few weeks ago.
I think if anybody's going to get a penalty and it should not be a suspension, maybe a fine or something for, because it looked pretty intentional.
I mean, maybe it wasn't.
Maybe they can show that the car was broke at some point.
But, you know, if they would have told me after Martinsville that they should, they looked intentional and we're going to take a 25 points or 50 grand from Bubba, I would have been like, all right, he probably deserves that.
You know what I mean?
And maybe this is the same thing here because it just looked to me like it didn't, first of all.
And with the new regime, they're not going to do any of that.
Good.
I hope's not.
But, you know, it just looked unnecessary to me.
Like, you know what I mean?
Like, he could have just, I felt like he could have just run three and four and finish 12.
Freddie, I don't think the higher-ups are into pampering the world anymore.
I'm not talking about Kyle at this point.
And I'm talking about what you're trying to argue.
They are not going to penalize him.
I'm not talking about that.
I'm talking about Kyle giving up his own race to do that.
Probably something bent when he ran out to me.
I don't think so.
I think he lifted into three to run in the side of him
and ran himself up the racetrack.
I don't think there's anything broke on the car.
But I could be wrong.
I'll let you know tomorrow.
What it looked like to you?
Yeah, let me know tomorrow.
I'm sure after that contact, it might be broke.
To me, like I said, I think he hit hard, right?
and, you know,
Cal's, you're going to screw me.
I'm going to screw you.
Oh, yeah.
You know, I have no idea.
It'd be interesting to know if something was broke, but...
Yeah.
If not, he just cost himself eight or nine spots in a day where he could have run.
He ran top 10 all day and was going to finish 12th in that,
where that was in the lineup,
it was right between a head of Jones,
and I forget who was in front of him, maybe Blaney.
They were 11th and 12th at the end.
So that was going to be a 12th place finish that ended up,
I think, last carnally, lap like 20 or the 21st.
or something like that.
So it's unfortunate for them guys.
They had a great run, though.
They made the cars fast,
and hopefully they can build on that
if they don't have anything coming this week.
After selling out the grandstands
in an entertaining race weekend,
Texas gets a bad rap
and is actually one of the better tracks on the schedule.
Kevin, what do you think?
Oh.
How about the bars underneath the grandstand?
I was going to mention that.
Do you see those bars they built?
Yeah, they've been there for a while.
Have they?
Yeah.
I mean...
I knew that was the first time
because you asked me how to get to the spotter stand.
I'm like, what the hell is...
I wasn't drinking.
It's a stick on the ice time.
No, because I was like,
man, these guys, these fans can sit here, literally.
It's a bar.
The bar's massive, by the way.
There's two of them, right?
And they are, I don't know,
what would you say, 50 yards long?
Yeah.
I mean, they're, like, they're massive bars
and there's a bunch of TVs,
so you watch the race and hang out
in the shade if it's super hot out.
But yeah, it's a lot of...
You would enjoy it.
I'm sure I would, yeah.
Texas has got probably the most
you know, well, not the most, but a lot of fan amenities like that
where there's all kinds of cool stuff to do.
And I think the on-track racing for Texas has been good.
They need to keep letting the track wear out.
They could probably do with fewer cones coming and leaving the track.
Holy shit.
The place is always.
The traffic's always bad.
I want to know who has the cone contract around Texas Motor Speedway because that guy...
And New Hampshire. New Hampshire and Texas.
Texas has got everybody covered.
There's more cones inside the racetrack than there are outside.
Cones for 15 miles in New Hampshire.
It's like yesterday, and they added like a new entry,
and that was the most jacked up entry of all of them this week.
I was like, God, Almighty.
But yeah, the way they funneled traffic out this week was different.
There was a lot of traffic on the way that backroad out to the airport.
But, yeah, it was, anyway, on the track,
I think we saw really, really, really good racing on Friday and Saturday.
I think that, you know, Sunday's product is just what Sunday's product is right now.
it's obviously more car than racetrack.
I think we need something, the tires that wear out more,
something to promote better racing because, I mean, you can't,
for me, the thing is we see the 67, get the lead, clean air,
checks out, puts a straightaway on us, it seems like,
the nine's the only one that can even be close.
Then he cycles back, it's a lucky dog, he's in the back,
and you never even see him again.
Like, it's obviously a super fast fucking race car,
but you never even hear from him again until he cycles back to the lead later
in the race and then has the wreck.
But, I mean, he was struggling to run inside the top 20 after dominating the race for that
whole 50-lap run, whatever it was.
But hasn't it always been like that?
I don't know.
There's certain racetracks.
There's certain racetracks forever, I can remember that once you, like the Poconos, the Texas,
the Darlington's, you know, those type of places.
When you get clean air for some reason, the leader, the first three or four guys can just
check out, man.
I just feel like in the past with the older car, yes, that has always been the case.
leaders can get away.
But if you have a good car, you're not as stuck at midpack as you are now.
You know, like if Saturday, if, you know, if Larson or Allgaier had a penalty and they had
a restart last with 50 to go, they're going to get back there.
They may not win the race because they don't have clean air, but they're going to be able to drive
back to the top five.
If you get a penalty late in these cup races, Kevin, your race is over.
You know, like where'd Ross end up?
Ross got a penalty on that last green flag pit stop.
I never saw him again.
He was in the top 10 and.
Well, he won a down a lap.
So we didn't have a choice.
I'm just saying, but like, you don't even hear from these people again because once they get in the back of the pack,
first of all, their car becomes two or three numbers tighter than it was all day long.
And now you just, you just can't recover from it.
Yeah, I've heard Alex say a lot.
Cars, like when we're back in traffic, we're really good.
I'm just stuck.
Yeah.
I'm just stuck.
Yeah.
And like we said earlier, like you can see it.
Like you work.
I forget who it was yesterday.
We were trying to pass.
Kind of pass.
Couldn't get around them.
And then it took us like five laps.
Maybe the 38 or somebody.
And finally got around them.
And two laps later, we're straight away ahead of them.
And it's like, God Almighty, like, how do we fix this?
Because that wouldn't happen on Saturday.
You know, I mean, if you're that much better on somebody on Saturday,
you could get to them, you can kind of poke him up the racetrack a little bit,
get a little, you know, on offense with air, and get gone.
This thing, you're kind of just stuck.
So it's not, unfortunately, it still comes back to the car,
and I think we need to make some progress there somehow.
I don't know how, but.
They're going to work on it.
They are trying, at least.
Stick with us, everybody.
The thing is, what I will appreciate,
and people wanted to give shit to O'Donnell when he came on here.
But when was the last time you heard somebody from NASCAR, now the CEO, come on a stroll like this and say, acknowledge, yes, there are problems.
We have problems. We have to get over.
You know, we have to fix the call.
We have to fix these problems.
So they know there's issues.
It's not like they're just saying this car's great.
There's nothing.
You guys are all crazy.
They know there's issues where there's no those challenges.
They're working to fix them.
We just got to find that path.
The tech inspection penalty process for the series is, for the truck series is broken.
Spot on.
Spot off.
Spot on.
Right?
It's horrible, man.
I mean, and I don't even know what the process.
And from my side of it, what I'm talking about is the fact that they penalize these teams,
which people may not be aware of.
The penalties now, and Tommy, correct me if I'm wrong.
If you fail tech, pre-race tech, you know, two weeks in a row, you get a 10-minute practice penalty.
Three weeks in a row, you get a practice penalty.
Four weeks in a row, you don't get to practice.
Now, this is backwards to me, you know, because these are the guys that probably need practice the most,
is the guys in the truck series
or the teams that are getting these penalties
if you look at it, the guys that didn't get the practice on Saturday
where Frankie Munez and Josh Runez,
like they're not cheating.
They're not trying to get something through tech.
They just are struggling to get through tech.
And they're doing this as they're implementing new templates
and new rules every week, the last six weeks.
Really?
That's the side I need for you.
Yeah, I mean, they're just changing.
And it's like what I was trying to explain to Steve.
Is this only in like the truck?
And what I'm trying to explain to him is it does, like, who finished where they finished
the other day?
No matter what rules, at the end of the day, you're making all these teams cut their trucks
up because of their fault, NASCAR's fault, by not implementing the rules in the first place.
Right, that's our job.
Oh, they're not checking those templates anymore.
Here's what we're going to do.
Yeah.
Well, you know what?
Shame on NASCAR for not checking those templates.
So now everybody's out of the window.
Oh, NASCAR, oh, we got to stop.
We've got to fix all this stuff.
Well, now everybody's spending money.
time during the season rebuilding these trucks for no reason because at the end of the day the same
guys are going to finish in the same spots right it doesn't matter right and you know what just like
i i said they always NASCAR always seems to wait until the last guy figures out what everybody's doing
and then they change the rules back to whatever it is well you know what let's look and see where
we're at now and let's stop that so we don't cost industry money right
So the trucks get through inspection, right?
These guys are just fighting day in and day night.
They just trying to get to the track, right?
And now you can't even practice, right?
It's like you're hurting the sponsors, you're hurting the drivers.
You're potentially going to hurt young kids that need time on the track.
And they look at you like, yeah, so?
They don't care.
And it's, I don't know, man.
And you kind of know why they're doing it because they're trying to implement this new truck in a couple years.
They're trying to make it aggravating.
for you to go, well, you won't have any problems.
Well, yes, you will.
I mean, it was 15 cars that didn't
pass inspection, the first inspection
in the Cup series at Texas.
And the truck series is going to be no different?
Yeah. Come on, man.
Yeah. I mean, Kevin, it just seems backwards that,
you know, these are the guys that need to practice, right?
These younger guys, I mean, majority of the guys
in the truck series are guys that are seeing
a lot of these places for the first time or going,
you know, I know Luke had to sit out at Bristol,
you've got 10 minutes there.
you know is this not the
are just not backwards like I almost wouldn't mind
they did this in the cup series because that would
kind of put us in a box there because those guys don't
really there's not really in the cup series that needs practice
but I can't see taking
laps away from drivers that need it like
if I put myself back
20 25 years when I was trying to do it
going to a place like Texas it's probably one of the
harder tracks to go to you know
Frankie's first laps of the weekend was
qualifying. There's no sim
I mean there is but it's not
as good as the cup stuff
right so you can't just go all right go race right and do the things they just it's not the series
it's not like i don't know man yeah i when i saw that i knew i you had brought it up and i didn't look
into it enough and then when i saw that tweet from bob on friday where it was like these two guys
don't even get to practice today because it was four weeks in a row i'm like half the field was 10 minutes
15 minutes it's like we were 10 minutes there was at that point what's the the point
The point is you guys are implementing all these different things,
week in and week out, what you need to do, right?
And they told everybody that, hey, Texas,
this is when the rules are happening, right?
This is when it's going to happen.
You're not frustrated at all.
I hate it because I've seen this a thousand times, Freddie.
Right?
I've been doing this for 30 years, and they keep doing it, right?
And it's like, when are you guys going to learn?
Yeah.
Tommy's face is the same color as a shirt.
I just agree.
Blood pressure is on 27.
No, no, it's still good.
I'll take a 170, 127 over 72.
127 over 72.
All right.
Last one.
New track limits at Watkins Glen will improve the racing product.
Spot on.
Spot off.
Fred?
I don't know.
I don't know that it's going to,
so I don't even know if everybody's aware of this,
but they're basically building walls at Watkins Glen with tire packs.
Exeter one.
Look kind of like a tapered wall where it's got,
you got a little bit of runoff early exit,
and then it kind of narrows up as you once you get off the curb,
which I feel like a lot of guys with those rumble strips,
we weren't really using a lot of that runoff.
I don't know why I did one.
It wasn't really beneficial to run way out wide.
There's kind of a safety net out there if you had a problem.
Yeah, it's going to be a more wrecks.
But now you've narrowed it up a little bit to where we might have a little bit of problems there.
Six off of five before you get it down to that straightaway into six off the carousel,
I think it's probably where we're going to see the most effect because we don't have that.
A lot of guys use that extra runoff space there.
And they basically did the same thing.
He built a kind of a tire pack wall there.
So that's going to be the one.
I think it's the direct result, Kevin, of all the wrecks.
Of the wreck that we saw there last year,
Alston Hill.
Yeah, it's definitely going to change.
I actually went to the Sim with Sam a couple weeks ago,
and we worked on that.
And I'd never been to the Sim before,
and I got to go see all the prep that they, you know,
put into that.
And then now that whole area is going to change.
Was the walls there in the Sim?
No.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking about.
Yeah, so it was before they announced all that.
So I think it'll change,
and it hopefully cleans,
I don't know.
Like, it could be a really good thing and it could make the racing terrible.
But that's kind of a dangerous area, too, because they're going so fast.
The wrecks are so bad.
We typically don't have anybody down there that if there is something going on, like, it's hard to see.
And, Freddie, good point.
But why wouldn't they put a stand there for?
There's a stand there that's on that straightaway.
But we just never really had anybody over there because there was never really.
Well, do they even have a, like, you have to go up where the crowd is?
No, no, no.
There's a stand on the other side of the racetrack, like on the boot side, there's a little stand over there.
I didn't even know that was right.
I didn't either.
Yeah, so there's a stand there.
Like, if you're driving down that straightaway towards turn six, on the left side, there's a little stand over there where some guys are at.
There's also some guys that go in that grandstand at the end that's entry to six on that kind of look straight down that straightaway.
And I've never had anybody over there, and I have somebody there this week just because.
I think everybody's going to need to because of the difference.
Just because I think that they're going to see some, it funnels in too much that you could, there's a higher risk.
of that happening again.
But yeah, I mean, it's going to be interesting.
Like you said, turn one, I didn't really see
the need for that because we didn't really use
that unless we had a problem.
So now you're maybe if you have a problem,
now you're going to be in a wall instead of...
Turn one, I think,
I'm not too sure about that.
It'll be...
And it's crazy.
Would it not drive you crazy as a crew chief?
I mean, as you were a competition director,
like, well, I heard about this Monday,
last week, or Monday or Tuesday last week.
So now, I mean, we're just changing.
They're guys are spending time in Sim on one racetrack,
and now we're a week out,
and here we are.
We're going to go to a whole different racetrack now.
Yeah.
I mean, I do think one, the one change is a good change for safety for wrecking.
I don't, you know, you see a lot of the guys come out and just come back.
And I think that's to protect the drivers.
I'm still, like, up in air and turn one, man.
That's, though I've seen some big wrecks there, too.
I mean, it just might slow everybody's reaction time down a little bit.
maybe that's what they're looking to do, you know, just so we won't have any of those incidents.
Because those are the two places that there have been some big wrecks before.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, I have no idea how we're going to raise.
They have the data.
I mean, that's one thing they do.
Yeah, they don't just throw a wall up.
And they have talked to the drivers.
They've talked, I'm sure they've talked to the driver council about all that and
they've gone over all that and what they think.
You know, the O'Reilly's guys and the truck guys probably didn't know much about it,
but I'm sure the cup guys knew well,
well before.
Yeah.
And look, we don't usually do SIM.
That's pretty early for you guys to be doing Watkins Glen.
I mean, we usually don't do it till the week of or, you know, just one little blast a week
before just to get our Barron's in order.
Yeah, I think they probably worked out it again.
I think the O'Reilly teams, they have very limited SIM time.
So you get in when you can and you work on the tracks when you can.
I know with the Cup guys, it's usually the week prior that they're working on it.
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, I'm sure Redick's probably made 7 million laps there in the last month.
probably, I would imagine.
I don't know that for sure or not,
but he's always in that sim
or just trying to learn and get better
and make laps, especially at road courses.
So it wouldn't surprise me
if he ran a bunch of laps
before they put walls up.
They should do like they do for DAP points
and like however many minutes
you spend in the SIM, you get more money
or something.
My guy would retire.
He don't like Sim.
He's not a Sim guy.
Not a Sim guy.
All right, DBC fans.
It's time to react.
Well, it is time for reaction theater where fans can call in and voice their opinions from this weekend's race.
All right, I'm excited.
I'll hear from the fans.
Yeah, watching the truck race and listening to them tell Gio to listen to Freddy.
I was scared.
I'm pretty every fucking Monday.
There's no way I'm trusting that fucking idiot.
Somebody else text me that.
I was like, yeah, I don't know why they're saying that.
Next time, next, uh, why the hell they listen?
Why do you listen to Freddy?
He finishes 14.
Yeah.
He listened to me and we went straight to the back.
Hell yeah.
Go horse next week.
That's about as cool as I can shower with your dad.
Jesus.
Yuck.
Oh, okay.
Now, I don't know nothing about the waxing crescent or the waning gibbis or any.
and moon faces or nothing like that.
But my wife does
because she is a Chase Elliott fan
and brother, she is gripped up to
hell yeah.
Go nine.
How's it good?
That was it going to be.
Oh, I was going to say, I wonder if you bought the shirt.
Get your gripped up t-shirt at shop.
Dottertymo Media.com.
Baby, can I get that healing?
Chase sexual, chase sexual healing, feeling good today.
Is that you, Cap?
Yeah, it actually was, yeah.
Yeah, that's my morning shower jam.
I'm glad that Chase sexuals are happy to dance.
Yeah.
They needed a good break to get off Allen's back a little bit.
After a very boring Chase Elliott post-race interview, I think I finally figured out the greatest celebration that can
top host of ours.
When Shane Van Gets Bergen wins that road course this weekend,
I think he needs a fart and a didgeridoo.
What?
What?
What did he say?
Fart and a didgeridoo?
Fart and a didger.
It's like that Australian instrument.
It's like ball, ball, ball, ball, ball.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay, that's interesting.
Yeah.
Do you think, I've not said this in a long time,
and I thought maybe Blaney could ever be the closest.
Do you think Hosevar could challenge Chase Elliott from
popular driver.
Yes.
Yeah.
There's a lot of hosts of our shirts.
There's a lot of stuff going on.
I mean, look, he, again,
I think it's another Cletus effect.
I mean, he's become friends with Cletus.
I think Cleveland is, Cletus is sad.
Cleveland.
Cleveland.
Cletus.
Squirrel McNutt.
I think they've all sat him down and go,
man, you got to, like,
there's a big window of opportunity that you're missing.
I mean, obviously, they're really, really smart
at what they do with all the social stuff.
So, I mean, I think you've,
seen since he's really met
Cletus a whole different
side of Hosevar.
It's just, I
don't know that he'll ever, I don't know anybody's ever
going to throw a chase, but if anybody's ever going to come close
right now, I think it's him. Yeah.
I think he could.
No, you know, son of that horn and not.
My woman's going to be doing the same thing.
You'd have a skip it, baby.
Woo!
Sound the horn, go down.
I have no clue.
I heard three words.
He's from Georgia.
Should we listen to it again?
He's from Dawsonville.
He's from Dawsonville.
I don't think.
I mean, you just put subtitles, but yeah.
All right, last one.
Hey, girls.
This is your friend Pickles here.
I just want to let you know that I'm eating a toxic chip cookie and thinking about Kevin Hamlin.
Love you.
I'm going to guess that's one of your friends.
I don't know what pickles.
I'm going to guess he might be a couple three deep right there.
You sure you don't know?
You like chocolate chip cookies?
cookies or something?
Who doesn't?
But I've never eaten a chocolate chip cookie with pickles.
So you didn't know that was...
No.
You don't know pickles?
You don't know pickles?
No.
I hope he enjoyed his cookie.
Might have been a guy he met at the bar.
Pickles.
And you wane out for chocolate chip cookies.
All right.
Well, to leave an audio message 24-7,
pickles caller number back next week,
704, 802-9-572.
And let us know how you know Kevin Hamlet.
All right, moving on to shit show Hall of Fame.
And I think we're changing this up a little bit, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, we're not watching videos.
We'll just talk about the stuff that happened that we saw that was crazy this week.
Dirt track parade lap.
They started raining its ass off.
And these guys are out there riding around on a parade lap, three or four wide.
And it just starts raining.
And they all slide to the bottom of the racetrack at one time.
Fictator Drag Rect.
Was this at Colorado National?
Yes.
That was top tier.
Did you see that video?
I posted from the Riverhead one?
Yeah.
That guy, did you see this guy?
Yeah, was he okay?
I hope so.
I think so.
He hit drive aside for us.
I mean, big overcorrect,
wheel rolling down the front straight away.
Did you hear the...
If he would have kept his foot in it.
Did you hear the announcer?
No.
I mean, when he...
Before he took off,
talking about the wife don't know and all.
Oh, shit.
And then it's...
Yeah, I mean, obviously, there's no insurance.
Can we ask the guy driving that thing
to call in the reaction theater
and just let us know...
Just let us know if you're up here.
Give us an update.
Give us a update.
Are you okay?
Number one.
Number two, how's the wife?
Are you still married?
Did you get a new suburban?
How's the insurance policy going?
Did anybody see this mini-stock wreck at Newport?
No, but I'd like to, but we can't.
You can go back and watch.
Like everybody else can.
So the guy, I don't know what the hell happened.
What led up to it?
But at Newport, it's like long straightaway, tight corners.
Yep, super big.
This is like a four, stock four class, whatever they call.
I'm assuming they're mini-stocks.
Just dive bombs the bottom.
and gets loose and they both
the guy hangs the right and they pound the wall
as hard as you
the guy flipped over the guy that got wrecked hit the wall and flipped right
over it's so hard to see it well if you get
you and the rest of the fans that are listening
can go back and watch them Tom it's that's the beauty
of it um
what else we got uh the guy
falling off the wall Braden Lasseter's Twitter
did you see that one of the pit stop I'd like to
you got to stop
I was just going to ask about the squirrel
because I saw your video
and not squirrel.
Did he die?
Like a legitimate squirrel.
You won't believe who hit him.
Butcher.
So there was a squirrel loose on the racetrack during the arc
It was between truck race.
No, between truck practice and qualifying.
And there was a dude.
I'd see numerous guys chasing something around the front of him.
I'm like, what the hell are you doing?
And they were chasing a squirrel all the way down the front straightway.
I was taking a video of it and then Kevin started yelling.
So I had to cut my video off because I wasn't sure what he was going to say.
but yeah they got him corralled
there's like a cutout at the end of pit road
where the safety trucks go park
and they kind of corralled him into there
and he was gone so they started qualifying
and then about the third truck and they're like
we gotta hold up
hold him on pit road
what did they call it
I forget what hell is
organic substance
we need to clean up and turn three
and organic substance
I think butcher got him coming back to
pit road and butcher's
had a tough start to the same route
which he's destroyed nine trucks and eight races
Jesus. And one squirrel.
And one squirrel.
Bless it.
And then the Jackman falling on Pittman.
I saw this video.
That was Brayton Lasseter's video.
I saw that.
I didn't.
The 91 almost hitting the pace car in the O'Reilly race.
I did see that.
I didn't know that happened in the race.
Did you see it?
No, I saw it after the fact.
Yeah.
Bowen texted me.
He said, did you see Joe DiMaggio's kid almost hit?
I was like, what the hell is he talking about?
I realized it was Mason Maggio.
I told him I wasn't going to do this, but our buddy Wentz has probably got to be on the list, right?
I mean, yes.
That was, and it was, there was a big gap.
So he's trying to clear him into that gap.
I didn't go back and listen to audio of all of it.
I just think that he was hoping that the 98 turned down faster.
Obviously, he probably couldn't turn down faster because he's driving around with a couple of flat tires.
But it's just, look, it reminds me that one of my favorite chitchos of the week was something you posted of,
I think he posted this if you didn't, we take it out.
the geolocation in turn 4.
Oh yeah, no, it was me.
Yeah, I was going to the track on Friday.
I went to the garage area,
got breakfast, whatever was going up.
And then I still had my Google Maps running.
And in turn 4 in Texas, if you zoom in,
it says Quinn Huff Talent Memorial.
Somebody put it on Google Maps.
Remember this is Quinn Huff where Quinn Huff pitted from the third lane
and almost wiped us all.
He wiped somebody out, I think, or almost wiped somebody out.
So there's a little thing on there.
It's Quinn Huff Talent Memorial.
No.
Yeah, on Google Maps.
Google Maps.
Zoom in to turn four and it's there.
That is...
And that's what that looked like.
You know, that looked like
somebody pitting from the top
and man, I was...
I was not a spectacular moment.
Door Sport had a rough race.
For all new trucks.
All new trucks.
And they were fast,
but they all got wrecked, I think.
Oh.
Okay, so you can still watch the videos for this.
Yeah, go find these videos.
YouTube descriptions.
Go find them.
We don't know where they are.
If you find them, send him to Tommy,
please.
So he'll shut the fuck up.
And, yeah, so check out them in our YouTube description, and you can vote in our poll on Dirty MoMod Media's X profile.
And the polls, we might even take the poll down.
The polls, Dalton, you tell me, like, what the hell's going on with Twitter and polls?
I don't know.
You can't do polls on Twitter anymore?
You can do it, but they don't know.
It's like Twitter blocks them.
Like, Gluck's poll went from getting like 100,000 votes to getting like 9,000.
Damn.
We were getting a couple thousand votes on our polls.
I think I saw one, had 300 votes on it a couple of weeks.
weeks ago.
Okay, well, Elon and Pickles call 704-802-9-5-70.
What's going on?
We might just have to do our poll herself and pick one here, but we'll see how this one goes.
We could start doing it.
I would say, Spectator Drag's got to be on there.
The 98 rack has to be on there.
The late models, the Australia late models, has to be on there.
And the 91 hit the pace car probably has to be on there.
Cool.
Time to move on to Ask DPC, and these are questions submitted by our fans.
So apologies in advance.
They could be a little.
But these look, these look all right.
What's the most important thing for a spotter to do when a sub drives the car?
I know you touched on this earlier.
But what's kind of like the most important thing that you know in your mind that you have to do when you have somebody filling in?
I don't know.
I think you just, at least in my experience, you just spot how you normally spot.
Tell the driver, hey, if you need something different, let me know.
And I'll change it.
For me, what we've gone through this year, all of them are like, it's fine, just do your thing and it'll be good.
So I think just that quick communication of what do you like, what you don't like,
and then you have to adapt to it quickly.
Yeah, I think Bubba and I have a habit of getting suspended.
So I think I had John Hunter somewhere.
And you just basically just have a conversation with that person of anything out of the ordinary that they may want.
Same thing.
You spot the way you spot it.
If you don't like it, tell me to do it differently.
Choose is usually something that comes up because everybody kind of does the choose a little bit differently.
So you got to make sure you're on the same page of that before you get to the first time you're doing it.
But yeah, it's just little shit like that to make sure that you're on the same page when you get in the car.
Do you count top or bottom?
I count bottom.
You do it same in all three?
Yeah.
It's helpful to me because they're all Toyota's,
so they're all kind of have the same plan going into it,
or at least I just use the same plan and tell them nothing.
Like when I spot it for Chandler,
Chandler Smith does the shoes the most difficult way possible.
Obviously, he's running good,
so it's not so hard when he's up front,
but he wants you to count every car,
not just one lane or the other.
So it's like one bottom, even, one bottom, even,
one bottom, two bottom, one bottom, one bottom,
you know so it's just and like it's not so bad when you're like top five or top ten but like when
you're 27th you're like one bottom even one bottom one bottom one two bottom one bottom one bottom I'm like
you probably something like I'm not fucking doing and he's like and the way we do it is so simple
it's just here's your number you know you get you I count this way when you get to the number
you go the other way and he's like well I don't the way we do it it's so easy but yeah
that's that's just little things like that and then how would you describe northwestern
stock car racing for those of us on
the East Coast, all of you.
Northwestern.
That's his stomping around.
Yeah, it's different than what it used to be when I was younger.
Like, it is, you know, everywhere.
But we don't have late model stocks in the Pacific Northwest.
It's all basically super late models.
A little different now.
I think they have crate engines and maybe a smaller tire, like way back when it was a full
super late.
Car counts are struggling a little bit.
I don't know what the asphalt late model.
scene looks like everywhere.
But just for the local shows, they struggle.
But then they get the big shows like Evergreen Speedway has a big summer showdown that
brings in a lot of cars because it's a good payday.
What was your home?
Was Evergreen your home track?
Yep.
Yeah.
That's where cut my teeth when I was driving.
And it was cool when I was a kid, you know, the Winston West would come out there
and Bill Elliott and Davy Allison.
And that was, you know, a huge deal, you know, back in the 80s.
And obviously they don't do that anymore.
I think, I don't even know if West's theory still goes there or not.
But yeah, I don't know.
Yeah.
And then the last one was about driving the pink car here, but we hit that earlier.
How much you drive that thing around?
Yeah.
Is it just a delivery vehicle?
I mean, I don't know.
People ask like where it comes from.
Like, well, I've got, you know, I work for Alex during the week two, kind of.
I don't know.
And he's got a sense of humor and disposable income.
And so I was wearing him.
Dangerous game.
Yeah.
So I was wearing him out forever about just getting, I wanted a white K truck for ABR.
And then I show up one day and it's this pink pink K truck.
It's got this very pink
Very pink so I'll drive it every now and then
Construction sites really enjoy it
They really enjoy it like they'll all stop
Until you get out
Well yeah but it's it's got a really weak horn on it
Which makes it fun too
So I'll blast the horn when I go by
And they all stop and wave but last
Well yeah
Subjective
You'll toot the horn
Yeah
Dootoo
All right
DBC P
picks our guest won, or one of our guests.
Briscoe won by picking Chase Elliott.
Pick him my guy picked.
He picked Gibbs for you, Tom.
Okay, so, Tommy, you pick first.
Where are we going?
We're going to Walkins Glen, Tom.
Oh, you already used them.
It's going to snow.
It's going to snow.
Who he thinks is the best in the snow?
Did I use them already?
You already used your guy.
Great.
You were so excited about that one.
Zillich.
Okay.
I will take SVG.
I will take...
Hmm.
I guess I'll take A.J.
When Blaney was in here, did he take himself?
No.
No, he didn't.
I don't think so.
It's a picture next to it.
Whoever picked him is next to him.
Yeah, I see that.
I'm just curious.
I cannot not take the 48.
I can do it.
You can do it.
I can do it.
I got to go with the 48.
He's an underrated road racer, so I'm going to go with Alex.
I see him a lot of Chicago.
He does a good job.
Let it go, Fred.
I let it go.
It was fine.
I thought it was funny.
All right.
Weekend winners.
I got a shitload.
You got one you want to start off with Carson by any chance.
My brother.
Champ off road.
Thomas.
Salamito won.
Both Salamito's won.
Both Salamito.
Riverhead was Timmy Salamito won.
The modified race, Landon's Alamedo won his Bandolero race, Alan Peters,
one of late models, AJ DeSantis won crates, Riley O'Keefe was legends, Charles Sedano,
who is very rare that somebody wins Riverhead that I've never heard of before.
Never heard of that guy in my life.
So a good shout to him.
He did a good job.
He comes from Brooklyn.
Is that where it's from?
No, I'm just the name matching.
Assuming.
And Jim Laird and Gary Fritz Jr. won the other two races.
Gary Fritz running the nine car win in a figure eight race is always going to be near and dear to my heart.
Kev, do you see anything you?
Wall Stadium.
Well, I mean, I've got a whole list, too.
Trust me.
Trevor Ward did win at Sobo.
Somebody else, I want to say Huddleston.
It's not Huddleston.
Huddleston won the Archer, West Race.
Pemilton, right?
Landon Pembleton, is that right?
Am I saying that name correctly, Carson?
Pimbleton.
Landon Pemberton.
He won the first race.
Trevor Ward won the second one.
Golden Tempo won the Kentucky Derby.
From last?
From last.
Like the draft?
I text Megan 20 minutes before the race and said,
I want to have been on a long shot.
I like this golden tempo, but it's just a waste of my
money so I'm not going to do it.
Good.
That was a good idea.
Yep, good job.
That was dumb on my part.
Let's see.
We'll run through him.
Larson and Aaron Ritzel won the high limit races.
Justin Sanders won the NARC 410 race at Watsonville.
One of my favorite people, Dominic Selsie won.
I saw he won.
I assumed it was like a canola eating contest, but apparently it was a race.
It was a race.
At Santa Maria, which somebody tweeted me and said that place just reopened after a long hiatus.
So good to see a racetrack back.
It was also Dom's birthday.
so happy birthday to him.
Kyle Cummins won the USAC spring car race at Bloomington.
Mitchell Molls won the spring car race at Hobstod.
Ricky Thornton Jr. beat Hudson O'Neill at Circle City.
Hudson won Saturday at Florence.
Bobby Pierce won the World Outlaw Laleigh model race at Mississippi Thunder.
Hoffman won on his birthday.
Ryan Guston won Saturday.
Danny Bone, modified race, won at Bowman Gray.
That was a little bit of shit show, I guess.
Was Spini running people over again, I saw?
I don't know.
A shit show at Bowman Gray?
I mean, it's hard to believe.
I just saw, I don't know, I didn't, I saw one clip where I guess Spini got in the back of Slate Myers must have turned him around.
Spini and the Myers go out of every week.
It feels like our old buddy Max Reeves won the Ark East Race, said that nobody can beat him unless they wreck him.
Just maybe not interview that kid ever again to be good.
Huddleston won the Arco West Race.
Jason Fager won Fairbury.
Stewie, won again at Fonda.
101 wins now, I guess that is.
Brock Zero force at Port Royal.
I guess I hope he didn't curse it all in Victory Lane because he'd be thrown out for the rest of his life.
Chase Deets at Lincoln, Ryan Tims at Knoxville, Riverhead we talked about.
My buddy J-Rod, shout out to the T-shirt.
He won on Sunday as well in the trucks, the street stock series.
Wall Stadium, what a crowd.
I know they did a lot of promotion.
I saw that all over social all weekend.
Somehow Jimmy got Dale to tweet it.
So Dale, that certainly helped.
He did a good job of asking everybody.
He was getting everybody to tweet about it or talk about it.
Obviously, like I talked about last week, new management has come in to run that place.
It was packed.
They do have to work on their timing a little bit because I've seen what they wrote.
Yeah, there was a lot of stuff there at the racetrack, but just from the outside perspective of watching,
I think the modified race didn't start to like almost 1030.
So they got some stuff to clean up.
But I mean, first time out, it was a good job.
Shout to my buddy Scott, a track photographer there.
He got hurt around the turkey derby.
Got hit by a car when it flipped over the wall.
He's a little laid up right now.
I just had some surgery.
Hope he's doing better.
He'll be back out there soon.
old Timmy Waterford. Timmy Jordan won Waterford. He had a hell of a year last year.
Not with any luck, so it was good to see him get back. Kevin Brooks won the 100-lap figure-8 race at Speeddrome.
Our buddy Austin Reeves that won those Big Crown Vic races early in the year with the tape numbers.
He won again this week and sent me a picture of his car that's painted and lettered now.
I'm glad it didn't weigh him down too much, and he's able to get the job done.
Joe Shear Classic was won by Austin Mason.
Somehow Kraus finished second. Must have been a hell of a wrecking that one.
I'm just kidding.
I love Krauss.
He does a great job in the lay model now.
Brandon Crispin won the streetstock race of Mahoning.
I don't know.
Do you have any of the end of who won the modified race of Mahoning?
I don't, I didn't see it.
There's some of these places, it's hard to find results.
Hartwig won.
Wasn't Mahoning.
Was the other evergreen?
Evergreen.
So what we talked about.
Gabe Brown, right?
Gabe Brown won Thunder Road.
Okay.
Yeah.
I didn't see that one.
The first opening.
Tapley will be very disappointed me to not know who won that race.
And that place is awesome.
Yeah.
I've never been.
I got a beautiful place.
Fast.
Joe B. Miller won at Farmington.
Damn it.
There was a guy.
Josh,
damn it,
I'm going to butcher his name.
So talk about something.
You guys talk about something
while I find this kid's name.
No,
we can.
We have no video.
I have a winner.
What do you got?
Don Graves,
the 101-year-old
World War II veteran,
Ewa Jima Survivor
who sang the National Antha.
That was awesome.
That's cool.
That's cool.
That's badass.
I will give a shout out while I look this guy's name up.
One of our biggest winners of the weekend was our buddy
Jeff Gluck had a full-page article in New York Times Sports section on Sunday of Hosevar, ironically enough.
So that was awesome to see.
Did we say Blake?
What did we say, Blake?
Born Wall.
Oh, sorry, I didn't go.
I didn't even go through the winners of the wall.
I just talked about how great wall was.
Blake Barney won, Billy both won the sportsman race.
Johnny Carpenter won the factory stocks.
Lars Wilson won the legends.
And Jeffrey Sutton won the T-Q race.
And Jaden, I'm going to butcher this name, B-O-G-H, which they're saying.
Bo, Ba, Ba?
Yeah.
I would say ball, maybe.
First time winner,
hometown track.
Looks like he built his own street stock.
First time the tracksman back in eight years, it said.
So shout out to him for his first career win.
I'm going to have a lot of fun of this.
I hope that wasn't too long.
If it was, let me know.
And I can cut back a little bit.
But it was just fun to shout out these guys who win on these.
Especially the short tracks.
Now short track racing is getting ramped up.
And listen, it's hard to find results for everywhere.
Obviously, flow.
I rely on that.
Some of the places I know.
Flow.
Flow.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
Oh.
You could go to flowsports.com slash door bumper clear and get 15% off.
There you go.
And a lot of these results come from the flow website.
So a lot of these races are on flow.
Almost all the dirt stuff comes from flow, aside from World Outlaws, of course.
But yeah, I mean, you can watch Dan near two or three tracks a night.
It's awesome.
All weekend now on Flow.
Weekend, you can start on Tuesdays.
But yeah.
So shout out to all those guys.
Tommy, what do you got going on this week?
Walkins Glen.
Just Walkins Glen.
No model fighter.
Nothing, no. Carson.
Cars tour is back, and we're at Ace this weekend.
Ace.
Is this a late model stock and pro-li-model weekend?
Late-model stocks and pros, and it's also a floatium weekend for our late model stocks.
So we're given a $10,000 bonus to one of the five that are in the running for that.
Kevin, what you got going on this week, buddy?
My oldest daughter's closing out her softball career.
Lake Norman Charter Knights are in playoff.
So she's been playing since she was like four.
Is it?
Going to college?
Yeah, she's going to university.
South Carolina.
That's the hat.
For softball?
No, no.
She wants to be a teacher.
But she can't play softball?
Well,
not at a big school like that.
No, they don't.
They do.
They've got a good team.
It's just she's just going to go to school and be a college kid and put her mom and dad into generational debt.
How is dad going to handle this last softball game?
You know, I hope I'm here for it because we got to go early to Watkins Glen for the trucks.
Oh, is a Thursday?
So, well, we'll know tonight.
And then it's basically one if you're around.
He might have to go because it's snow.
So we'll see.
And my two youngest kids are doing plays and dance.
Like there's something every night, dude.
I can't wait for my middle one to start driving because...
Then you don't have to take them everywhere.
Surely they can divvy it up between them all of their songs.
They got Uber now.
We had to do that this weekend.
I was gone and my wife was busy and my son Cohen had play rehearsal down in a school in Charlotte.
And so she just Uber-teened him.
Yeah, that was going to say, you can do Uber for, like,
Like teenagers.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
The drivers are, like, super vetted, and it's, like, a big process.
Oh, good.
Yeah.
How, how does, where did he get in that?
Like, did either, I'm assuming you didn't ever do it any plays or any.
I don't know.
Did your wife?
No.
No.
No, it's.
Dude, I just, I grew up in a race shop.
Like, we did, right?
And then this hobby turned into a career.
And my kids just didn't get into racing, which I'm totally fine.
Thank God.
Yes.
Yeah.
And, you thought college was generational debt.
Yeah.
No doubt.
So we got the.
one that's softball player and then my son acts he wants to be on Broadway he's damn good which
you can sing and i it's insane so awesome and my youngest is a very good answer if you can't go to his
plays this weekend or whatever let me know i'll be there all right nice perfect i didn't forget
something that we're going to be at ace we can we can we can end on this because i know you got
a little bit of a rant we want to go on what oh god start a cup practice yeah oh yeah let's hear it
i don't so people at home anybody does they'll see it a lot so back in the day
when we would roll, like it'd be all the cars, it would be an hour practice, whatever.
We'd leave pit road and we'd haul ass.
And the blending worked out fine.
And now we'd leave, and I don't know, like, I'm going to say, I don't know if they do it because
they're trying to get heat and the brakes, the tires will up, but now we roll and we roll and
we roll slow.
And then it's a big cluster to get every, like, the blending does not work when we don't
haul ass off the road.
And we have half the cars.
It drives me crazy.
Oh, yeah.
So I don't, I don't, and I'm, I'm sure the drivers have, this is why they do it.
I don't know, right?
But for my world, like, you have to be fourth to sixth to get a clean hole.
And it's, it's, I don't understand why they do that.
You, I think, and you're right, because, you know, you can be the first car, which, like, with Tyler leading to points now, we're usually one of the first two if we're in that first group.
And like in the years past, we would be maybe fifth or sixth in line.
So we never really, we would always end up with a decent hole.
Like, the tail of the field would never make it back to us.
But these guys wait and then they get going.
And now you're hauling ass down the front.
They wait.
kind of what happens is they roll slow off pit road.
They roll slow down the backstretch.
Maybe in the three or off of four, they start to get going.
And now you're at full song through one and two, and they're still blending on the backstretch.
And you're, now you just ran yourself into traffic where I think if you just haul ass,
those guys will see you coming will blend behind you.
And they do, they'll do it.
You give them a better opportunity to do a better job.
Martin'sville.
Martin'sville.
We ride around for like, 12 laps.
12 laps.
I'm just riding around.
Because nobody wants to be the first one.
to go. And it's just, it's a monkey, see, monkey, do game.
That's you guys. It's so annoying.
I think me. My guy just goes.
I'm like, oh, like, Doug, I know Doug does the same thing.
Doug just tell Cedricic, go. Because, like, you got to dodge some shit.
But then what happens is you end up, you're good, you're fine, you're fine, then somebody
races you, and now you're side by side or what's the difference?
The qualifying, hold on, my shit's wrong.
Qualifying set, right? Anyway, right? You know where you go.
You always used to want to go to get a clean lap to get the fastest lap to go out last and
qualifying, right?
well, you don't do that anymore.
I mean, shouldn't you guys worry about driving the car
in traffic a little bit to make it better anyway?
It's annoying to say the leaves when you roll off
and you're like, just go, my goodness.
But I know that was bothering, Kevin, this week.
Well, it's always fun, like when Cindrick's the first one to go off
and, like, Dougie, like, you know, he'll let you know, see how good that works.
Kevin, thank you for joining us.
I'm sure this will not be the last time you dragged your ass in here.
Maybe we'll get Alex and you in here once.
some point together. I would advise
against. That would be fun.
I would advise against. Alex has been
the only one that has not just been an immediate
no in that camp over there. So maybe
we're breaking down walls over to
He's got busy Mondays. Like he's got a lot going on.
So that's the only hang up. I talked to him
about it a couple, maybe last year or the year before.
He said, man, just Mondays are tough. But we do have a
couple Tuesday shows at some point, so we'll see.
Thank you guys for listening. We are heading to Waukins
Glenn and Tommy's bringing his snowshoes.
And it's going to be 50 degrees.
Because it's going to snow and it's 50.
Yeah, usually.
Hey.
I mean, it's possible.
A little wind change on the lake.
Oh, yeah.
If somebody could stop and show him the shit show videos too.
Yeah, somebody sent Tommy all the shit show videos.
It'd be nice.
All right, we will be back next week.
Thank you guys for listening.
We're out.
Bye.
Peace out.
20 minutes later.
Peace out.
