Starting point is 00:00:00 Doug Loves Movies! movie interruption last night at CineFamily, and unbeknownst to me and my guests, the director of the film was in the room while we trashed it. So apologies to the director of Now You See Me, Louis Leterrier, not just for my mispronunciation of his name, but for how much we trashed that movie. I'll play the opening audio from last night's show featuring co-interrupters Brendan Walsh, Paul F. Tompkins, and Roy Scoville at the end of this mini. And last night I also recorded an app of Dining with Doug and Karen, possibly the drunkest I've ever gotten on Dining with Doug and Karen. Plus I had a little weed too, you know, I wasn't messing around. And that was on the patio at CineFamily after the interruption, which is available for you to check out now, and not only includes appearances by Paul F. Tompkins and Rory Scoville, but I am also confronted by director Louis Leterrier.
Starting point is 00:01:13 Dun, dun, dun. Yeah, I actually chatted with him about the movie that we just spent two hours making fun of. Podcasting gold! Crossover event! Bethlehem PA! Come see me do stand-up Saturday, September 7th at ArtsQuest. Yeah, that's the real name of a place. Kind of sounds like a laser tag facility. All of my dates are at douglasmovies.com. And now, the audio from before we watched Now You See Me, when we were totally unaware that the director of the film was in the room.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Oh, and Friday night, I'm interrupting at CineFamily in LA at midnight. Evil Dead, 2003 edition, and someone involved in that movie will definitely be there. Schedules permitting. As always,
Starting point is 00:02:04 comedians talking shit about the hard work of talented filmmakers are a shithead. Thank you, Hadrian. Thank you, everybody. Hey, everybody. It's great to be back at CineFamily during Everything Is Festival. Have you guys seen any of the Everything Is Festival events? I missed because I've been out on the road and stuff, but it's great to be back and to be watching maybe one of the only summer movies where I said, oh, I don't need to see that. That's going to be an interruption. A team of four magicians, like this, this seems like
Starting point is 00:03:02 the premise of a TV show from the 70s. Four magicians, each with a certain set of skills, who team up to rob the rich and then give to the audiences that paid to see their shows in Vegas. So these people have made $100 to see the show, get money shot at them, and they're lucky if they can scrape together $100 just for a a rebate i'm guessing i have not seen the film this is all conjecture but uh when it comes to uh movie premises and plots i am i am somewhat of a magician and uh that makes no sense at all my ability to understand what's going to happen disappears.
Starting point is 00:03:46 I don't know. So we're having a great party on the back patio tonight after the show. We're taping a dining with Doug and Karen. Thank you. Because there's a gentleman here that's been doing a pop-up junk food, gourmet junk food restaurant here at CineFamily. You can get Lay's chips that taste like seaweed, ones that taste like pickles, watermelon Oreos. It's some fucked up shit. And I'm going to eat all of it
Starting point is 00:04:26 after the show tonight. And then we're going to make it a podcast and we're going to put it out there for people to listen to. And hopefully participating in the food eating after the show tonight besides all of you guys here will also be my guests.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Please give a big warm welcome to Brendan Walsh, Rory Scoville and Paul F Tompkins If you go there, if you can go on the, or take the three spot, Paul. You want me in the three? I like you in the three. I like Brandon in the two. And this friend in the one. You know what I'm saying. Got that in mind?
Starting point is 00:05:15 Yeah. You get this one. Here, you get... What, do we have too many microphones? I'll take two, that's cool. I'll talk into two microphones. I feel extra powerful now. This is pretty sweet.
Starting point is 00:05:31 Where are you going to be? I'm going to be probably there. And then I have a friend that's going to sit there. Oh. Yeah. To bring a friend to work day. Probably.
Starting point is 00:05:42 Not for all of us. That's Brendan Walsh, everybody! I'd say you're the best movie director that I know if these other two guys weren't here right now. Because they're also quite good at it. I spare their feelings. But thank you for being here.
Starting point is 00:06:01 And have you seen Now You See Me? I have not. Perfect. That's how I like it. Just react honestly and openly. Well, I was telling the guys in the hallway, I actually want to see this movie, so if you guys could not see much of it.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Should we dial it down? Dial it back. For you on this one? Yeah. Because you were interested in this movie. Sure, I read the movie. I waited until well past when it was playing in theaters. Well, I get to see it for free this way.
Starting point is 00:06:28 You do, you son of a bitch. I never thought of that. I should get you guys to pay me $80. You do get to watch it. Paula Tompkins is here. Hi, guys. Hi, guys. Hello.
Starting point is 00:06:45 Hi, guys. Hi, guys. How are you guys Hi guys, I hear you guys Hello, hi Doug, who's the friend of yours that's coming? Bill W, finally Yeah, it's kind of an intervention Interruption Have you seen this movie? Oh my god, no
Starting point is 00:07:02 You know why? Because I saw The Billboard. But, okay, I agree. Just The Billboard would probably intrigue me, but the trailer is what really sold me on Waiting Till Now. No, it was an intriguing billboard. It's like, wait, they all stand? Just the fact that
Starting point is 00:07:32 where in the fucking world is there a show with four magicians of equal stature who all come out and pose like they just did amazing shit? Like, I've never seen a team of magicians. It's a very aspirational movie. Because it's going to be a thing now, probably.
Starting point is 00:07:49 Yeah, probably! Because this movie was such a hit! It did alright! It did a- It did a-ay! Rory Scovel is also here. He's my favorite guest that brings too many friends. Yep. I'm just kidding. Bring as many people as you want.
Starting point is 00:08:10 Fill this place. I agree about that. Fuck the audience. I agree. One, I agree about the billboard, and two, I agree, fuck this audience. So let's have fun tonight. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:08:24 How many people in this audience have seen Now You See Me? How many people in this audience keep thinking the name is Catch Me If You See Me? Like that? Oh, a few? I've had the hardest time saying the name right for months since it came out.
Starting point is 00:08:45 I always fuck up the name. Uh, I always say, now you see him. Which is totally rude to Isla Fisher. Or Isla Fisher. Still don't know where that goes. Isla. Isla? Isla? Yeah. Okay. Isn't that ass?
Starting point is 00:09:03 Is that? Isn't that nice? It's nice. It's nice. Well, I love movies, and this one I might love as well. I don't know. So none of us have seen it. No. No, no. That's fantastic.
Starting point is 00:09:18 I thought that billboard was on set. When I saw a billboard on his driveway, I was just like, no, wait, what? I put a triple take to try to take it in and still no information was gained. I still don't know. I was like, when did Dave Franco happen? When did he become somebody that you're like, he's with all these other actors you actually know.
Starting point is 00:09:40 Dave Franco? Yeah, what? One of the four magicians is Dave Franco? Yeah, what? One of the four magicians is Dave Franco. James Franco's brother Dave. Like, first of all, those parents, like, James, that's an okay name with Franco, but Franco's a little too fancy to Dave Franco. And our other brother Joe Franco. Ted Franco. Yeah, it's, Joe Franco. Ted Franco.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Yeah, it's kind of... Ted Franco plumbing. What else was I supposed to do? So me and Dave Franco, I brought a bunch of drywall. Can I get a glass of water? It's hot out there. Spill James Franco brother, though. I do dry water. I don't care about my brother.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Let him do what he does. Now, his brother, he's doing six or seven projects tonight. The fat guy is like, that's why he's not always great at things. It's because sometimes he's more interested in the book he's reading than the Oz movie why he's not always great at things, is because sometimes he's more interested in the book he's reading
Starting point is 00:10:45 than the Oz movie that he's in, for one example. This is fun. You are in the moment. I like this part. I like that... This is the former silent movie theater, and that's nice that Paul Tompkins wore his Harold Lloyd glasses
Starting point is 00:11:08 for this event and now I would like you to hang off of a clock I would like you to hang precariously all you have to do is ask let's do it, or stick around afterwards and eat some crazy exotic gourmet junk food.
Starting point is 00:11:26 And we'll see you guys after... Now You See Me. Very dramatic introduction. Now it's time for Doug to watch another talkie. Eyes of gold, his viewing prowess makes him cocky. There's no room in his heart for you cause Doug loves
Starting point is 00:11:49 movies!
