I'm so happy to have you again. It's very exciting. I was at South by Southwest and that's where I learned of your participation in The Accountant 2. Everyone is saying that it's better than Accountant and I'm I'm just assuming because I haven't seen yet But I'm just assuming it's because you weren't an accountant one Well, I'm not an accountant one better because I'm an accountant too It's a you know it honestly like and I'm not just saying this like without mentioning

Titles I've been a part of like second batter up movies to, you know, a first and they're like, they're okay. This one, like is, it is better. It just is better. Which is, which is hard to pull off, but, um, they, they managed to, and I'm, uh, I get to play, I get to play a villain. So I'm pretty stoked about that. Yeah. Nobody. And I'm I get to play I get to play a villain so I'm pretty stoked about that Yeah, nobody I don't think anybody thinks the first account was a bad movie, but there's definitely this read out there that it's it's a big improvement not only because of you but because of

the addition of John Bernthal Yeah for sure John's like John brings a lot of Comedy to this movie and funny enough My character is not funny at all like none of the comedy is coming from me but John and Ben make a really great duo and Yeah, I don't know. I think people are really surprised how funny it is Yeah, that's what I hear It's like, you know people are calling it like a buddy picture And so they say the chemistry between those two dudes is is off the charts

But I just have the suggestion, you know, I know you're not in charge of what movies are called But I think they missed an opportunity here to they could have called it the accountant one plus one You know that probably would have been a pretty good title. I wish you had been there for the marketing and the strategizing. Yeah, you know, I never am. So I just throw my dumb ideas out on my podcast. And that's where it that's where it dies. Do you think people, would you say people don't need to see the first accountants to appreciate Accountant Two? Oh, no, I think you have to see the first one.

You just do. I'm trying to think of like a time where I watched a sequel and like I didn't need to, like I think like I accidentally jumped into like season two of succession. I was like, wow, they just really assume that everyone knows everything. It's like, no, I started from fucking way late. Cars two.

You can see cars two going in. Really? Yeah. The worst of the cars. Or like Paddington Bear. Oh, no. If you miss Paddington, don't even waste your time. I think you need to see Paddington one.

I mean, all you need to know is that the, you know, that little, that little bugger likes his, likes his marmalade. Accountant one. Causes a lot of trouble trying to attain it. Yeah. You definitely got to see the first one. You can't skimp. You got to see it.

Okay. So it's, it's on max or something right now. So that's convenient. It's good for you to be able to look it up because there's this new Four Seasons TV series that Tina Fey is behind coming out soon. It's based on the old Alan Alda movie. And me and my girlfriend were like, let's watch the old movie, like prep for this new series. And it's nowhere to be found on streaming, which seems like a mistake on their part, or they're intentionally holding it back because maybe this new thing isn't as good.

God, that's always fun. We're not here to talk about my issues with TV shows based on movies, but thank you for being here, Daniella. We had a little mix up during soundcheck when I said this next gentleman's name, because now I've learned, I didn't know this, that Daniella is used to people calling her Danny. Danny. Or like when your, when your parents are mad at you, just to belittle me, my dad would like to just make me feel lesser than so he would, he would throw a little Daniela in there and I, and then I'd had whatever you said, I'd do it. So it was, it was part of my trauma dumping. I figured I'd just get that all out right now. Save me a therapy session later. So It's working out. This is great. Well speaking of therapy and your overall mood You know, have you been floating, you know those walking on clouds since your win on this show, you know, it's weird Yeah, I've been I've been getting people stop me on the street I mean

They said I always thought you were stupid and now I know you're Not as stupid as I thought you were and I was like man. That means a lot. Thank you mom I'm glad you're here. And so it's been really good. It's been nice. It's been nice going out Are you excited about the well comedy club getting a new location? Yeah, I'm excited for them, you know, I like performing anywhere and the people at the well are really nice So wherever they go, I'm excited to be there. It's gonna be nice Sounds like it's gonna be a much better spot because you know, they were next to a mega church and now they're moving to you know, cool Downtown Bakersfield. Yeah, and that's just next to a minor church, which is really good. So there's a man

We've discussed this in the past, but this next gentleman, I can only assume is the winningest player in the history of this show. And that, of course, is Sam the man Levine, AKA other names. Hey, Sam.

Hi, Doug. Do you think that's accurate? I mean, it depends on your definition of winningest. If somebody appeared on two shows and won both of their games and then has never been back on, technically, percentage wise, they're batting a thousand and I'm certainly not perfect on that front. You must be batting 700 or so though. I don't know.

I always feel like you've got rabid fans that keep track of such things. So I'll defer to them. Let's have you go first since you know this is coming. Sure. Let's ask you as we visit Recommendation Nation to please recommend one motion picture that you think people should see. Okay. So I'm guessing, I know we're taping this a few days early, but I'm guessing that by May the 5th, we still have not gotten a new pope. So if you somehow have not seen Conclave, I strongly recommend you watch and enjoy Conclave. And if I may, and I want to give 100% of credit to this joke, to our pal Kevin Pollock, who's had this joke for months now, since the film came out.

He says, would you like to hear my one-sentence impression of the movie Conclave? And here it is. We got a pig in the pope. You've got a pig in the pope. We got a pig in the pope. Also, you could do a hand gesture that's an impression. Yep. Of just all the fingers and the thumb together

and then waving it around. Yeah. We gotta pick it up. Yeah, we gotta pick it up. That's the crux of that movie. That could be the official log line of the whole film. Yeah, it really should be. Or the title.

It should have been the title. We gotta pick it up. Because people are like, what's the concrete it's so interesting that this is the timing of this is uh, you know that there's an entire movie to educate people About how the conclave works, right? Right as it's happening. Um It's also feeling like a lot of people were not interested in conclave until the pope died Well, I'm some people were interested. Yeah. But you know, I mean, all those awards and stuff, it wasn't really like a big box office here or anything.

No, no, it wasn't. But it wasn't Academy nominated film, wasn't it? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Nominated for a bunch. It was up for best. Like when in fact, when it came out, it was like, finds is winning best actor the movies winning best picture like it was really they thought it was gonna be like dominate the awards and instead you know just lots of other stuff came along and everybody got distracted and the Pope

was still alive so it wasn't pertinent but it is it's a good movie I didn't love it I like some of the other offerings last year better but it's a good movie. I didn't love it. I mean do we do we know because I kind of imagine when they open and the smoke comes out like what if for all This hot boxing in there and whoever passes out last That's the Pope you know what I mean like they get to go and then that they let the smoke out and it's white smoke And everyone goes to the top and they go either like hey, that's the guy he made it

I mean, do we know what they're doing in there? I think they're voting right? Is that what's happening? Yeah, just watch there's a movie called Further if you have any questions about conclaves, I swear if you sit through the whole movie I don't think there's any you know remaining questions about conclaves or Conclave I mean it plural is not even right because it's only something that happens At the Vatican when a Pope dies, right? It's not yeah

I mean, I guess every 200 years or something is any gathering to decide something called a conclave It's called a pope clave. Oh, okay. It's like you park in a driveway and driving apart. It's one of those done. Yeah Yeah, yeah All right I made a lot of really stupid jokes on this show over the years that one's up there Daniela Would you care to please recommend a movie? Yeah, I will, actually. I just watched this film last week. And speaking of Academy nominated films, this was not one, but it should have been. I thought it was incredible. It was called The rule of Jenny Penn With oh my gosh and and John Lithgow. I Think that came out This year. Yeah, it was like he was either beginning of this year or yeah last year No one talked about this movie and I'm like I was shocked

I didn't see it immediately when it came out and it's genre is like a horror film, but holy shit, this movie is incredible. It's extremely disturbing. I saw with a bunch of horror film fans who just ate it up, like thought it was, they thought it was hilarious. And I just imagined- I thought it was funny. No. I just imagined a typical screening of that movie, like everyone just in stunned silence. But yeah, it's Jeffrey Wright, an older gentleman in an assisted living and he just completely gets bullied and gaslighted by John Lithgow as the Jenny Penn of the title is he has this stupid little ugly puppet that's called Jenny Penn

and Jenny Penn tells people what you know what to do and that's why it's called the rule of Jenny Penn tells people what to do. And that's why it's called the Rule of Jenny Penn. And yeah, that would actually be a fantastic double bill with Conclave. Double Lithgow? It's really, yeah, both movies are suspenseful in entirely different ways. Danny, what do you got for me? What do you want to recommend? I thought about this in the last movie that really got me excited and like a scary type of like I can't believe this and it gave me like this weird feeling. There was a movie called Fall came out in 2022 and it's about these two girls that climb up

to the top of a tower and they get stuck. And the whole movie is like a low budget film, but the reviews were amazing. And I saw it and it's unbelievable. It's just these two girls that climb up this tower for I don't know what reason. And then they get stuck up there and the whole movie is them trying to get off this tower.

And you get this like, you know what feeling you get when you go to the edge of something like your body gets tingly like you feel like oh My this is dangerous like your body's like saying warning you're clicking a fall That's what the movie makes you feel like the whole time You're constantly like anxious that you're gonna fall even though you're not there. It's a really good movie. It's false All right came out. Oh, I said I recommend people watch Conclave, then Rule of Jenny Pen, then Fall, and then try to go to sleep. That just sounds like it gets more and more nerve wracking as it goes along. I don't think I'm familiar with, have you heard of this movie Fall, Sam?

I have. I've not seen it, but I've certainly seen the trailers. Yeah. And did it make you go, that's not for me? I'm not a Heights person? I think I was waiting for it. I'm a very old person and I was waiting for it to show up on like HBO when I was flipping through the channels as the elderly are prone to do. Sure. And I was waiting for it to find it that way. Oh, it falls about to start. All right, I'll sit through a few minutes and if I get bored, I'll turn it's about to start. All right, I'll sit through a few minutes. And if I get bored, I'll turn it off.

If I'm into it, I'll watch the rest of it. That's quite a system you have. It's served me well my whole life. I also just have to mention that I'm on a text chain with my family and my extended family. And I said, oh, hey, my movie is in theaters. Go see it. And one of my older aunts I said, Oh, hey, my movie is in theaters, like, go see it. And one of my older aunts was like, Oh, yeah, I'll catch it when it's on prime. And I was like, the fuck you won't.

I'm in a movie this week. You're going to take your old ass and go to the theater and purchase a ticket And then one of my uncles was like can I just purchase a ticket but then watch it at home and I was like Yes Yeah, just go online and buy a ticket and then just watch it at home I think that's the reasonable thing to do. I think that's the yeah, that's the that's a good halfway. Yeah um Yeah, that's the good halfway. Yeah. I just want to touch, based on something that the listeners are probably aware of, that I'm certainly frustrated by as much as they might be.

You know, Sinners is like, the movie is selling out at iMac screens because, you know, Ryan Coogler put it out there, you know, like, hey, this is how I want you to see this movie and people are responding that people are love seeing it in IMAX but because of how IMAX screens are so tightly scheduled so far in advance this movie Thunderbolts is gonna come out that will be out by the time people are hearing this episode and it's gonna take away a bunch of the IMAX screens

because they've been holding IMAX screens for Thunderbolts for, you know, the deal was probably made like a year ago. So Sinners is going to, while still selling out the theaters, it's gonna be, you know, leaving IMAX screens. And it's gonna happen before people are listening to this. So I can't even help you but hopefully

hopefully everybody that loves movies got a chance to see it that way I also think it's what's gonna maybe will happen is after a few days of Thunderbolts some of the theaters might sprinkle in into their IMAX schedule for the day maybe one or two centers because that'll pack the house and as popular as Thunderbolts might be, it's just not the same thing. It's not a, it's not going to be a must see to most people, I don't think. Whereas sinners is really caught on with, you know, the public in a way that people are like, they're complaining about how hard it is to get a ticket, how hard it is to get a seat.

And it's like, when have we heard that? What was the last time we heard that about a movie? Even before the pandemic, if you wanted to see a movie, you were never like, oh, I'm worried I'm not going to be able to get in to see it anywhere. You know, if it's playing at a million theaters, it's going to be plenty of places to sit. Yeah, I'm not gonna lie. I got my ticket opening week for that film. And like, it was hard. It was hard. It was hard to find a ticket. My guess is though is like, if it's still like slaying, and it's like third or fourth week, and it's still killing, like, I feel like they're gonna reconfigure something because

they'll try to get it back in there. Like, remember, like, open Oppenheimer had to make way for something else on IMAX. But then when that movie wasn't performing as strongly, a lot of the theaters added in. Especially the old Chinese in Hollywood, they have a tendency at the late show where the early show slip in another movie if the one that they're contractually obligated to run

isn't performing very well. Because also these iMac screens, the theater is like the Chinese has a thousand seats. So Sinners is filling that and then Thunderbolts is not going to. So hopefully they'll figure out a workaround for that. But there's also a YouTube video that Ryan Coogler made explaining all the different formats that Sinners is in and I still don't completely understand it but it was you know very interesting to watch very very little like a film school look at all the different ways you can see sinners. She could play a teenager in a sketch, but in a whole movie, it's probably been on the

I thought, or is this the name of some obscure Parker Brothers game. I'm still in disbelief that there is a even a fake Parker Brothers game called vinegar hill.

So I am guessing and I will just say Mary Louise Parker. Very Louise Parker is correct. But none of these have the name of the game in the title just so you know oh Okay You see the game being played in the movie have you ever seen Ouija or Jumanji or any movie where people play a game? In the movie. I mean, that's what that's what we're talking about. Okay But you mind you I don't think as a Parker Brothers game But you mind you I don't think is a Parker Brothers game

The Ouija boards Ouija boards are A Parker Brothers or they were one time now their Hasbro. Oh So Parker Brothers gave up their exclusive hold on on speaking to the dead. I guess so Wow, I guess I don't know how that works like Hasbro must have stepped up with a lot of cash. Yeah, or or they had some dirt on somebody's tough to give up the rights on Communicating to the afterlife. They probably found out something about somebody Using a Ouija board and then held that information against them to take over Netflix where after a while, you've talked to everybody who's dead, and you're like, I did it. You know, like, there's no one left to talk to.

I finished the dead. So now you guys watch it. And then they pass it off. Whose turn is it now, Sam? I think it goes back to Daniella. You're correct. Cool. You get another point for that.

That's one way to think about it. Woody Woodpecker and Mary-Louise Parker and Parker Posey are like similar in age, I imagine. Yeah, I think one's slightly older than the other but I can't be sure. Oh god, I'm gonna go with Barry Louise Parker Believe I got that fucking right I love a good guess because this movie came out in 2024 Apparently it was marketed solely to Woody Woodpecker fans or something and yeah, and Mary Louise Parker is credited as not only a voice in it, like looks like maybe the leading voice in it.

I don't think she's voice in it. Oh, I got that so wrong. I assume that that movie came out in like 1980. Right. It does sound like it'd be old. And then so which one of them is older was a good question. But then again, you know, they're both around the same age at that if it was an old movie so and parker posies had a big stride in her career as of recent so my assumption would be like i don't know maybe she's taking the voice

over maybe she's doing everything i don't know but uh yeah it's a good thing you didn't know it's a recent movie um danny yes this is your chance to tie it up. Create a three-way tie. The movie is saved with an exclamation point. Saved. Saved. I have no idea. Well, I bet you can narrow it down to one of three. I'm going to say, OK, I'm going to say Parker Brothers. It's a board game in it. That is incorrect, Sam. That's Mary Louise Parker.

She plays the mom. Yeah, from 2004. Congratulations. You did it, Sam. And you took it down just in time before I said the one that's actually got a board game in it.
