Doug hates candy wrappers screening baby sticky seeds with 50 as a pop or kernels in his teeth.
They're still not one that he won't see.
Because Doug loves movies.
Hey, hey, hey, everybody.
Mayamo Doug and I love movies.
I would have translated that entire sentence, but I'm too lazy. This is Doug loves movies
Recording a few days early for release on May 5th
2025 if you're listening to this on Cinco de Mayo
Or as I like to call it Cinco de Hayao and live in the
to call it Cinco de Hayao and live in the Chicagoland area, be sure to come out to the Douglas Movies taping tonight at Zany's in Rosemont, O'Hara adjacent. My guests today
are two returning champs and a movie star, Danny Hill, Sam Levine and Daniela Pineda. Hello.
Woo. Hello. Yes.
Let's meet everyone individually, alphabetically by first name.
She currently can be seen in the accountant number two.
It's Daniela Pineda. Hi. Hello. How's it going?
Thank you for having me again.
I'm so happy to have you again.
It's very exciting.
I was at South by Southwest and that's where I learned of your participation in The Accountant
2.
Everyone is saying that it's better than Accountant and I'm I'm just assuming because I haven't seen yet
But I'm just assuming it's because you weren't an accountant one
Well, I'm not an accountant one better because I'm an accountant too
It's a you know it honestly like and I'm not just saying this like without mentioning
Titles I've been a part of like second batter up movies to, you know, a first and they're like, they're okay.
This one, like is, it is better.
It just is better.
Which is, which is hard to pull off, but, um, they, they managed to, and I'm, uh, I get to play, I get to play a villain.
So I'm pretty stoked about that.
Yeah.
Nobody. And I'm I get to play I get to play a villain so I'm pretty stoked about that Yeah, nobody I don't think anybody thinks the first account was a bad movie, but there's definitely this read out there that it's it's a big
improvement not only because of you but because of
the addition of John Bernthal
Yeah for sure John's like John brings a lot of
Comedy to this movie and funny enough
My character is not funny at all like none of the comedy is coming from me
but John and Ben make a really great duo and
Yeah, I don't know. I think people are really surprised how funny it is
Yeah, that's what I hear
It's like, you know people are calling it like a buddy picture And so they say the chemistry between those two dudes is is off the charts
But I just have the suggestion, you know, I know you're not in charge of what movies are called
But I think they missed an opportunity here to they could have called it the accountant one plus one
You know that probably would have been a pretty good title. I wish you had been there for the marketing
and the strategizing.
Yeah, you know, I never am. So I just throw my dumb ideas out on my podcast. And that's
where it that's where it dies. Do you think people, would you say people don't need
to see the first accountants to appreciate Accountant Two?
Oh, no, I think you have to see the first one.
You just do.
I'm trying to think of like a time where I watched a sequel
and like I didn't need to,
like I think like I accidentally jumped
into like season two of succession.
I was like, wow, they just really assume that everyone knows everything.
It's like, no, I started from fucking way late.
Cars two.
You can see cars two going in.
Really?
Yeah.
The worst of the cars.
Or like Paddington Bear.
Oh, no.
If you miss Paddington, don't even waste your time.
I think you need to see Paddington one.
I mean, all you need to know is that the, you know, that little, that little bugger
likes his, likes his marmalade.
Accountant one.
Causes a lot of trouble trying to attain it.
Yeah.
You definitely got to see the first one.
You can't skimp.
You got to see it.
Okay.
So it's, it's on max or something right now.
So that's convenient. It's good for you to be able to look it up because there's this new
Four Seasons TV series that Tina Fey is behind coming out soon. It's based on the old Alan Alda
movie. And me and my girlfriend were like, let's watch the old movie, like prep for this new series. And it's nowhere to be found on streaming,
which seems like a mistake on their part,
or they're intentionally holding it back
because maybe this new thing isn't as good.
God, that's always fun.
We're not here to talk about my issues
with TV shows based on movies,
but thank you for being here, Daniella.
We had a little mix up during soundcheck when I said this next gentleman's name,
because now I've learned, I didn't know this, that Daniella is used to people calling her Danny.
Danny. He is a returning champion, central Californian phenomenon, DJ, won recently when we taped at the Well Comedy Club in Bakersfield. It's Danny Hill. Hey, Danny. Hey, thanks for
having me back. Does anybody ever call you Daniela? Sometimes when we're real close.
Or like when your, when your parents are mad at you,
just to belittle me, my dad would like to just make me feel lesser than so he would, he would throw a little Daniela in there and I, and then I'd had whatever
you said, I'd do it. So it was, it was part of my trauma dumping.
I figured I'd just get that all out right now. Save me a therapy session later. So
It's working out. This is great. Well speaking of therapy and your overall mood
You know, have you been floating, you know those walking on clouds since your win on this show, you know, it's weird
Yeah, I've been I've been getting people stop me on the street
I mean
They said I always thought you were stupid and now I know you're
Not as stupid as I thought you were and I was like man. That means a lot. Thank you mom
I'm glad you're here. And so it's been really good. It's been nice. It's been nice going out
Are you excited about the well comedy club getting a new location?
Yeah, I'm excited for them, you know, I like performing anywhere and the people at the well are really nice
So wherever they go, I'm excited to be there. It's gonna be nice
Sounds like it's gonna be a much better spot because you know, they were next to a mega church and now they're moving to you know, cool
Downtown Bakersfield. Yeah, and that's just next to a minor church, which is really good. So there's a man
Smaller Yeah, and that's just next to a minor church, which is really good. So there's a mega- Oh, that's better. Yeah, it's a lot smaller. Oh yeah, there's churches everywhere. It's Starbucks, Church, Pot Shop, all through Bakersfield. Gotta go there.
You're really churched up in Bakersfield.
Yeah, for sure.
We've discussed this in the past, but this next gentleman,
I can only assume is the winningest player in the history of this
show.
And that, of course, is Sam the man Levine, AKA other names.
Hey, Sam.
Hi, Doug.
Do you think that's accurate?
I mean, it depends on your definition of winningest.
If somebody appeared on two shows and won both of their games and then has never
been back on, technically, percentage wise, they're batting a thousand and I'm certainly
not perfect on that front.
You must be batting 700 or so though.
I don't know.
I always feel like you've got rabid fans that keep track of such things.
So I'll defer to them.
Yeah, that'd be neat if they reached out with that statistic. got rabid fans that keep track of such things. So I'll defer to them.
Yeah, that'd be neat if they reached out with that, that statistic. But, you know, I feel
like you're, you're also up there in number of appearances. So like it's the numbers are
strong with this one. Now, before the competition begins, I've already talked. I talk like Yoda all day on May 4th, so I'm just gearing up. What
was I going to ask you?
I don't know.
Let's have you go first since you know this is coming.
Sure.
Let's ask you as we visit Recommendation Nation to please recommend one motion picture that you think people should see.
Okay. So I'm guessing, I know we're taping this a few days early, but I'm guessing that
by May the 5th, we still have not gotten a new pope. So if you somehow have not seen Conclave, I strongly recommend you watch and enjoy Conclave.
And if I may, and I want to give 100% of credit to this joke,
to our pal Kevin Pollock, who's had this joke for months now,
since the film came out.
He says, would you like to hear my one-sentence impression of the movie Conclave?
And here it is.
We got a pig in the pope.
You've got a pig in the pope.
We got a pig in the pope.
Also, you could do a hand gesture that's an impression.
Yep.
Of just all the fingers and the thumb together
and then waving it around.
Yeah.
We gotta pick it up.
Yeah, we gotta pick it up.
That's the crux of that movie.
That could be the official log line of the whole film.
Yeah, it really should be.
Or the title.
It should have been the title.
We gotta pick it up.
Because people are like, what's the concrete it's so interesting that this is the timing of this
is uh, you know that there's an entire movie to educate people
About how the conclave works, right? Right as it's happening. Um
It's also feeling like a lot of people were not interested in conclave until the pope died
Well, I'm some people were interested.
Yeah. But you know, I mean, all those awards and stuff, it wasn't really like a big box office here or anything.
No, no, it wasn't.
But it wasn't Academy nominated film, wasn't it?
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Nominated for a bunch.
It was up for best.
Like when in fact, when it came out, it was like, finds is winning best actor the movies winning best picture like it was really
they thought it was gonna be like dominate the awards and instead you know
just lots of other stuff came along and everybody got distracted and the Pope
was still alive so it wasn't pertinent but it is it's a good movie I didn't
love it I like some of the other offerings last year better but it's a good movie. I didn't love it. I like some of the other
Offers last year better, but it's a good movie
Do we even know what happens why they're asking for the Pope in there? I mean do we do we know because I kind of imagine when they open and the smoke comes out like what if for all
This hot boxing in there and whoever passes out last
That's the Pope
you know what I mean like they get to go and then that they let the smoke out and it's white smoke
And everyone goes to the top and they go either like hey, that's the guy he made it
I mean, do we know what they're doing in there? I think they're voting right? Is that what's happening?
Yeah, just watch there's a movie called
Further if you have any questions about conclaves, I swear if you sit through the whole movie
I don't think there's any you know remaining questions
about
conclaves or
Conclave I mean it plural is not even right because it's only something that happens
At the Vatican when a Pope dies, right? It's not yeah
I mean, I guess every 200 years or something is any gathering to decide something called a conclave
It's called a pope clave. Oh, okay. It's like you park in a driveway and driving apart. It's one of those done. Yeah
Yeah, yeah
All right
I made a lot of really stupid jokes on this show over the years that one's up there
Daniela Would you care to please recommend a movie? I made a lot of really stupid jokes on this show over the years. That one's up there.
Daniela.
Would you care to please recommend a movie?
Yeah, I will, actually.
I just watched this film last week.
And speaking of Academy nominated films, this was not one, but it should have been.
I thought it was incredible.
It was called The rule of Jenny Penn
With oh my gosh and and John Lithgow. I
Think that came out This year. Yeah, it was like he was either beginning of this year or yeah last year
No one talked about this movie and I'm like I was shocked
I didn't see it immediately when it came out and it's genre is like a horror film,
but holy shit, this movie is incredible.
It's extremely disturbing.
I saw with a bunch of horror film fans who just ate it up,
like thought it was, they thought it was hilarious.
And I just imagined- I thought it was funny. No. I just imagined a typical screening of that movie, like everyone just in stunned silence.
But yeah, it's Jeffrey Wright, an older gentleman in an assisted living and he just completely gets bullied and gaslighted by John Lithgow
as the Jenny Penn of the title is he has this stupid little ugly puppet that's called Jenny Penn
and Jenny Penn tells people what you know what to do and that's why it's called the rule of Jenny Penn tells people what to do. And that's why it's called the Rule of Jenny Penn.
And yeah, that would actually be a fantastic double bill with Conclave.
Double Lithgow?
It's really, yeah, both movies are suspenseful in entirely different ways.
Danny, what do you got for me? What do you want to recommend?
I thought about this in the last movie that really got me excited and like a scary type of
like I can't believe this and it gave me like this weird feeling. There was a movie called Fall came
out in 2022 and it's about these two girls that climb up
to the top of a tower and they get stuck.
And the whole movie is like a low budget film,
but the reviews were amazing.
And I saw it and it's unbelievable.
It's just these two girls that climb up this tower
for I don't know what reason.
And then they get stuck up there
and the whole movie is them trying to get off this tower.
And you get this like, you know what feeling you get when you go to the edge of something like your body gets tingly like you feel like oh
My this is dangerous like your body's like saying warning you're clicking a fall
That's what the movie makes you feel like the whole time
You're constantly like anxious that you're gonna fall even though you're not there. It's a really good movie. It's false
All right came out. Oh, I said I recommend people watch Conclave, then Rule of Jenny Pen, then Fall, and then
try to go to sleep.
That just sounds like it gets more and more nerve wracking as it goes along.
I don't think I'm familiar with, have you heard of this movie Fall, Sam?
I have. I've not seen it, but I've certainly seen the trailers.
Yeah. And did it make you go, that's not for me? I'm not a Heights person?
I think I was waiting for it. I'm a very old person and I was waiting for it to show up on like HBO
when I was flipping through the channels as the elderly are prone to do.
Sure.
And I was waiting for it to find it that way. Oh, it falls about to start. All right,
I'll sit through a few minutes and if I get bored, I'll turn it's about to start. All right, I'll sit through a few minutes.
And if I get bored, I'll turn it off.
If I'm into it, I'll watch the rest of it.
That's quite a system you have.
It's served me well my whole life.
I also just have to mention that I'm
on a text chain with my family and my extended family.
And I said, oh, hey, my movie is in theaters. Go see it. And one of my older aunts I said, Oh, hey, my movie is in theaters, like, go see it.
And one of my older aunts was like, Oh, yeah, I'll catch it when it's on prime.
And I was like, the fuck you won't.
I'm in a movie this week.
You're going to take your old ass and go to the theater and purchase a ticket And then one of my uncles was like can I just purchase a ticket but then watch it at home and I was like
Yes
Yeah, just go online and buy a ticket and then just watch it at home
I think that's the reasonable thing to do. I think that's the yeah, that's the that's a good halfway. Yeah
um Yeah, that's the good halfway. Yeah.
I just want to touch, based on something that the listeners are probably aware of,
that I'm certainly frustrated by as much as they might be.
You know, Sinners is like,
the movie is selling out at iMac screens
because, you know, Ryan Coogler put it out there,
you know, like, hey, this is how I want you to see this movie and people are responding
that people are love seeing it in IMAX but because of how IMAX screens are so
tightly scheduled so far in advance this movie Thunderbolts is gonna come out
that will be out by the time people are hearing this episode and it's gonna take
away a bunch of the IMAX screens
because they've been holding IMAX screens
for Thunderbolts for, you know,
the deal was probably made like a year ago.
So Sinners is going to, while still selling out
the theaters, it's gonna be, you know,
leaving IMAX screens.
And it's gonna happen before people are listening to this.
So I can't even help you but hopefully
hopefully everybody that loves movies got a chance to see it that way I also
think it's what's gonna maybe will happen is after a few days of Thunderbolts
some of the theaters might sprinkle in into their IMAX schedule for the day
maybe one or two centers because that'll pack the house and as popular as Thunderbolts might be, it's just not the same thing.
It's not a, it's not going to be a must see to most people, I don't think.
Whereas sinners is really caught on with, you know, the public in a way that people
are like, they're complaining about how hard it is to get a ticket, how hard it
is to get a seat.
And it's like, when have we heard that?
What was the last time we heard that about a movie?
Even before the pandemic, if you wanted to see a movie, you were never like, oh, I'm worried I'm not going to be able to get in to see it anywhere. You know, if it's playing
at a million theaters, it's going to be plenty of places to sit. Yeah, I'm not gonna lie. I got my
ticket opening week for that film. And like, it was hard. It was hard. It was hard to find a ticket. My guess is though is like, if it's still
like slaying, and it's like third or fourth week, and it's
still killing, like, I feel like they're gonna reconfigure
something because
they'll try to get it back in there. Like, remember, like,
open Oppenheimer had to make way for something else on IMAX. But
then when that movie wasn't performing as strongly,
a lot of the theaters added in.
Especially the old Chinese in Hollywood,
they have a tendency at the late show
where the early show slip in another movie
if the one that they're contractually obligated to run
isn't performing very well.
Because also these iMac screens,
the theater is like the Chinese has a thousand seats.
So Sinners is filling that and then Thunderbolts is not going to.
So hopefully they'll figure out a workaround for that.
But there's also a YouTube video that Ryan Coogler made explaining all the different formats that
Sinners is in and I still don't completely understand it but it was you know very interesting to watch
very very little like a film school look at all the different ways you can see sinners. Thank you for those recommendations, everybody.
We will be back with some games after these messages."

We are back and the first game today was something suggested by someone on threads.
He goes by the handle Ike's I K es golden state
if you want to reach out to him and tell him this is a great idea or a dumb idea and
I added a little twist to it the game that he suggested is called Parker's
posers
and in this case I
Will name a movie and you tell me if it features Parker Posey,
Mary Louise Parker, or a game by Parker Brothers.
But there's no crossover. There's not one that has more than one of those. There's no as you know Sam
Both would be an option or all three if that did happen in my research
I couldn't find such a good not find any crossover that is you never know
But Danielle will be up first if she misses then Danny gets a crack at if Sammy misses
I mean, you know, then he gets a crack at it if everybody well not everybody
Will miss because there's only three options
So third person sort of gets to give me point but anytime somebody gets one, right? We'll start with the next person
To guess on the next one
person to guess on the next one.
First to three points, three correct answers will win this game today.
Daniela, are you ready, you big Parker Posey
or Mary Louise Parker fan?
A big Parker Posey fan and I know one movie
that Louise Parker's in, but I'm here, I'm ready.
She spends such a big amount of time in her career being the lead in that TV show weeds
Yeah, so so she hasn't been this quite as quite as many movies as Parker Posey, but they've they've both done a lot
So we'll start with you. Daniela. Is it
Do we see Parker Posey Mary Louise Parker or a Parker Brothers board game in the movie?
Coneheads? Oh shit.
Um, I'm gonna go with Mary Louise Parker.
I'm sorry, that is incorrect.
Damn it.
Danny, Parker Posey or a Parker Brothers game in a coma.
I think it's a Parker Brothers game.
You do?
I think so.
Well, you're wrong.
It's 50-50.
You're wrong.
Damn, do you have any guesses?
I do.
And I know the scene too.
She's in Parker Posey is in Coneheads in a scene also with I Damn, do you have any guesses? I do, and I know the scene too.
She's in, sorry, Parker Posey is in Coneheads in a scene also with, I want to say, oh, I
just blanked on her name, but she's in the scene where they're listening to Tainted Love
in the car and Dan Ackroyd gets very upset that he has to listen to three teenage girls
screaming along to Tainted Love.
Did Lorraine Newman play the teenager in the movie?
She did not.
They hired somebody like Christine Taylor or somebody?
Yeah, they hired a young person of the day.
And what did Lorraine Newman do in it?
I think she plays a conehead when they visit the home planet.
That's not enough.
That's a shame.
I can't believe I wasn't outraged about it.
There's no internet to turn to at the time to complain about that oversight.
Okay.
But yeah, she was too old to play.
She could play a teenager in a sketch, but in a whole movie, it's probably been on the
stretch. All right. So yes
Parker Posey
One of her early roles, I guess from
We learn out of that's it. Joey. That's it. Joey Lauren. Okay
We're back to you, Daniela. Okay
Parker Posey Mary Louise Parker or a game by Parker Brothers in the film mixed nuts. Oh
Fuck
Parker Rosie, I know that's not right. Is that your final answer? Yeah, that is right. Oh, yeah
Wait, it's Parker. Is that the one where she's kind of dressed like Jackie Oh or am I mixing that up? No, that's the story of O. That's right, that's right.
Whatever, I got it right.
House of O, House of O.
But no, Mixed Nuts was a legend comedy
and maybe the worst comedy of every single person
who's in it.
Yeah, Steve Martin.
Oh, that's right, that's right.
And in smaller roles very early on, Adam Sandler
and Parker Posey. All right. So Danielle is on the board. Danny, this is your shot. Parker
Posey. No, I'm just kidding. I mean, you know, don't put Sam knows it could all be posies
But is it is this one posy Mary Louise or Parker Brothers film called Grand Canyon
Grand Canyon I've never seen it so I have no idea
But it sounds like something Mary would be in so I'm gonna say Mary Lee Parker
We have a three-way tie that is correct
It's another Steve Martin movie by the way, yeah
It's true
But yeah, also kind of a I don't remember
Caring for it very much
Even though it did have a pretty good cast
very much even though it did have a pretty good cast. And behind it's Lawrence Kasdan wrote and directed.
Yeah, no, it was definitely, you know, a little disappointing.
It's a weird movie.
Daniella, you're up.
Wait, I don't get to go first?
Ever?
Oh, yeah, right.
Okay, Sam, you're up. Thank you.
I just forgot who got the I just always assume you got the last point. I see.
It's just a fair assumption. Yep. Sure. All right, Sam. Yeah. The movie is called Vinegar Hill.
Vinegar Hill. Vinegar Hill.
Does that sounds great?
That is a made up movie.
Okay, I can safely say I doubt Parker Brothers ever released
a game called Vinegar Hill.
Well, the titles of these movies aren't also the name of the video.
I mean, you know, board game.
Is the board game seen in the movie?
Oh, well that, wait, what?
Oh, I didn't know that.
Is the board game seen in the movie?
Do you see, here's a movie that you see
Parker Posey, Mary-Louise Fletcher,
or a game by Parker Brothers.
Oh, I was, that was unclear to me.
I thought, or is this the name
of some obscure Parker Brothers game.
I'm still in disbelief that there is a even a fake Parker Brothers game called vinegar hill.
So I am guessing and I will just say Mary Louise Parker.
Very Louise Parker is correct.
But none of these have the name of the game in the title just so you know oh
Okay
You see the game being played in the movie have you ever seen Ouija or Jumanji or any movie where people play a game?
In the movie. I mean, that's what that's what we're talking about. Okay
But you mind you I don't think as a Parker Brothers game
But you mind you I don't think is a Parker Brothers game
The Ouija boards Ouija boards are
A Parker Brothers or they were one time now their Hasbro. Oh
So Parker Brothers gave up their exclusive hold on on speaking to the dead. I guess so Wow, I guess I don't know how that works like Hasbro must have stepped up with a lot of cash. Yeah, or or they had some dirt on somebody's tough to give up the rights on
Communicating to the afterlife. They probably found out something about somebody
Using a Ouija board and then held that information against them to take over
Netflix where after a while, you've
talked to everybody who's dead, and you're like, I did it.
You know, like, there's no one left to talk to.
I finished the dead.
So now you guys watch it.
And then they pass it off.
Whose turn is it now, Sam?
I think it goes back to Daniella.
You're correct.
Cool.
You get another point for that.
Thanks, buddy.
Daniela Parker, Mary Louise Parker or a Parker Brothers game is in Woody Woodpecker Goes
to Camp.
What?
Is that animated?
I don't know.
Okay. I don't know! Okay, Woody Woodpecker goes to camp.
I'm assuming that there were voice actors on this movie.
That's one way to think about it.
Woody Woodpecker and Mary-Louise Parker and Parker Posey are like similar in age, I imagine.
Yeah, I think one's slightly older than the other but I can't be sure.
Oh god, I'm gonna go with Barry Louise Parker
Believe I got that fucking right I love a good guess because this movie came out in 2024
Apparently it was marketed solely to Woody Woodpecker fans or something and
yeah, and Mary Louise Parker is credited as not only a voice in it, like looks like maybe the leading
voice in it.
I don't think she's voice in it.
Oh, I got that so wrong.
I assume that that movie came out in like 1980.
Right.
It does sound like it'd be old.
And then so which one of them is older was a good question.
But then again, you know, they're both around the same age at that if it was an old movie so and parker posies had a big stride in
her career as of recent so my assumption would be like i don't know maybe she's taking the voice
over maybe she's doing everything i don't know but uh yeah it's a good thing you didn't know
it's a recent movie um danny yes this is your chance to tie it up. Create a three-way tie. The movie is saved
with an exclamation point. Saved. Saved. I have no idea. Well, I bet you can narrow it down to one of three.
I'm going to say, OK,
I'm going to say Parker Brothers.
It's a board game in it.
That is incorrect, Sam.
That's Mary Louise Parker.
She plays the mom.
Yeah, from 2004.
Congratulations.
You did it, Sam.
And you took it down just in time before I said the one that's actually got a board game in it.
Oh, man, I knew that one immediately.
Also, it's so weird.
My dad has like random movies he's like obsessed with, like so fucking random.
And that's one of them. Like, he loves that movie.
It's weird Jewish
what's your what's your other parker i mean uh mary louise parker movie because you said you had
one oh no it was that one it was it really was saved in weeds oh my god that's crazy you know
she's in both of the uh red movies with Bruce Willis and
Fry green tomatoes of course yeah, she and she had that great run on West Wing oh
Yeah, yeah, she's very good on that
So but here's the one that's got a board game in it
Bill and Ted's bogus journey. Oh that has many games. Yeah, but one of them that they plays clue and that's a
Parker Brothers, that's a Parker Brothers game
but yeah, they do play a few things because the gag is you know, they're playing with the
With the Grim Reaper. Yeah
For their lives. Yep
Okay Great job Sam as usual, but doesn't mean much Sam just go first in our next and final game, which we will play
Right after these words BRB
We are be
One more game to play
It's something that I call clues tagline is it anyway
Whose tagline is it anyway? Oh boy.
Yeah, Sam's encyclopedic mind for names, titles, and years
don't necessarily come in handy here.
Some of these are so wrong.
Yeah, and if you mean difficult, then yes, that as well.
Yeah, but the tagline description
after that we've all seen the film, we're like, oh yeah, that is well. Yeah. Like, but the tagline description after that, we've all seen the film
were like, Oh yeah, that is not at all accurate because as you know, Doug, these taglines are
often created by studio advertisers who maybe haven't even seen the movie or just
make these things up. Goons.
They never listen to me. I always have great ones for movies and they, they never take my calls. So the you know, to say most of these are known movies,
you know, it's nothing too obscure.
So any guess is a good guess.
And all of my guests are good guests.
So if Daniela misses it, sorry, Sam gets to go first,
as we said, if Sam misses it, we go to Danny.
And if Danny misses it, we go to Daniela.
And if all three of you miss it,
we just go on to the
The next one. All right, Sam. Are you ready? I guess so
Laughter is a state of mind Oh one last thing
There will be a theme but of course, it's impossible to glean what the theme is based on just this first tagline.
Sam laughter is a state of mind. Uh huh.
What movie do you think that would apply to?
You're saying there's a movie called F.
I am laughter is a state of mind. You're saying there's a movie called
I am laughter is a state of mind.
I feel like this is some dark horror movie.
And that's just just a clever way of messing with us. That's a great idea to put the word laughter in a tagline. Oh, actually, okay,
I'm going to go along with that guess. Here we go. My guess is Dr. Giggles. Oh, I would
hope they'd have some sort of pun about teeth or laughing gas or something but
But great guess Sam, but that is incorrect
My guess is gonna be
Oh wrong Danny. Yeah, should I call him Dan or do people do some people call you Dan?
Call me Daniel and then call him Dan. You can call me Daniel and then call him Dan.
Perfect.
OK.
That's that's great.
I'm going to go with the Godfather 1972.
I think that the Godfather would say.
Listen, Sonny, the left is.
I can't even do that. That was a state of mind, Sonny.
Is that correct?
No.
That would be so wild.
That would be wild.
I mean, anyway, what's your guess? Daniel? Um, I don't
I'm forgetting the title of it. What's the one Robin Williams
is like all the kids are dying of cancer and he's like, I'm a
clown and he like has got his red nose. What's it called
again? It's um, he's just like in the hallway just reason that
hospital just laughing.
The only reason I'm going to tell you the title, because you know, Sam's a
real stickler for rules. As am I. The only reason I'm going to tell you the
title is because you're that that would be a wrong answer anyway. Okay. Patch
Adams. That's right. But oh my god, I was so excited for a moment because the movie that it's for stars Robin
Williams.
What?
I didn't hear that.
There's no cancer kids in it, but it's called Toys.
Oh wow, the Barry Levinson movie?
Yes.
Holy, laughter is a state of mind.
That's such a fucking Robin Williams movie line. Oh
Yeah, it does it's something he would say after saying that like a joke that's like a thinker
Or to someone who's not laughing for some reason
That was a not a there was a misfire of a film from 1992
But that's your only clue so far in terms of a theme.
We go back to Sam for this next one. Sam, what movie do you think has the tagline?
There's a period after each one of these first three words,
Misfits, Underachievers, Rebels.
And these are the good guys. Oh, that sounds so familiar.
Oh, that sounds so familiar.
Misfits, Underachievers, rebels.
Is that... These are the good guys, Sam.
Is that the movie Toy Soldiers?
Ha ha, it is!
Ah!
It is Toy Soldiers.
Wow.
In 1991.
That's impressive. Storing a bunch of toys that want to fight. No, it's small soldiers.
Oh, right.
That's right.
Yeah.
This is the movie with Will Wheaton and Sean Astin.
No, I can't believe I mixed up my misisfits, Undeachievers, and Rebels.
Wow.
All right.
Danny, you're up first on this next one.
A lot of pressure.
Yeah.
And the tagline is, so far we have Toys and Toy Soldiers, and the tagline for this one is, are you ready
to play?
So I'm assuming it has something to do with toys then.
I feel like that's the theme.
Are you ready to play?
Are you ready to play? Are you ready to play with toys as a theme?
Um, I mean, the toys movies would be too obvious if it was that.
Um, God, are you ready to play something toys something? I don't know. I kind of feel like it has to be like a like a movie about like an arcade
game like from the 80s, you know, like one of those galactic movies where they're like,
I don't know, like,
you're going I'm just trying to think. Yeah, so I don't know. I'm just trying to think. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't know. I'm just trying to think of movies like the big movie when I miss is going to show my age, but
When I was graduating high school, there was a big movie that came out and it was kind of like a horror movie
It was called I think it was called the game
That I mean I can think of that one I was also trying to think of like Jumanji
but I don't think they say it in Jumanji and I don't think they say it in
That's all I can think of I can only think of that so like I
Don't know 1997 is that long ago, but something along those lines. Is it the game? Is that it?
Is that your final answer
Yeah, I'm gonna go with the game. I can't think of anything else.
I can only think of-
That's a good guess.
It is, in fact, the game.
Yeah!
Wow.
From 1997.
That is wild.
Yeah, because that's the year I graduated high school and it was like this cheesy video
game like horror movie thing that all the kids went to go see.
And I was here thinking that or what was the other one?
I was thinking I was thinking Ready Player One.
Danny, I don't think you've seen the game.
Yeah, it's not a cheesy horror movie.
That's like a yeah, it's a nice Michael Douglas.
It's a David Fincher film.
Really? Yeah.
So then maybe I got confused. There's another one that came out where he was playing Galactica and then aliens came down.
Do you remember that movie? And I was trying to think of that one.
That's the last Starfighter.
Yeah. That's the other one I would have said.
Okay.
But I remember there was a movie that came out and it was called The Game.
I thought it was along those lines.
I don't know.
That was a long time ago.
Yeah.
That was the only arcade type game movies I can think of.
Again, there are no arcades in The Game.
Okay.
Well, you're thinking of something else and also something that might be an answer coming
up so you don't necessarily want to uh, I
Mean, you can't remember it anyway, but
Daniela's first on this next one
And you know, I like to recap as we go
toys toy soldiers the game
This one the tagline, no toy gets left behind.
Oh, come on. That's easy. Toy Story.
Is that your final answer?
Yes.
Incorrect.
Is it Toy Story 2?
I don't have time for more answers. I should say I can't take more answers.
Sam? I'm so sorry.
I believe that's Toy Story three.
God damn it.
It is Toy Story three.
Oh, oh, that was fucked up.
Yeah, that was super fucked up.
I apologize.
Danny.
I'm ready.
You ready to just take us on another trip down memory lane?
Danny's memory lane?
Danny's memory lane!
I'm trying to be quicker on this one.
No, you don't have to be quicker.
I just thought it was interesting how you worked that one out.
It's my favorite thing when somebody gets a, when they're not even talking about the right movie.
And it's the right answer.
I'm sure you can imagine how much I love it too, Doug.
Oh, you love it.
You love it so much.
All right, Danny, some games you play, some you survive.
That's got to be Jumanji, right? It doesn't gotta be anything, but let me say it again.
Some games you play, some you survive.
Do keep in mind that there's been multiple Jumanjis, and I would need an exact title if you would like to go with a Jumanji film.
Oh, that's true.
Well, I would I would almost feel that way about the new
Minecraft movie because they were like trying to survive that.
And then there was like the there was like the about the Super Mario Brothers
movie, right. And that that could have said it.
Do people I mean, it's been out long enough.
I don't think it's that big of a spoiler.
Do people die in the Minecraft movie?
The bad guys do you like the zombies and stuff like that? Yeah, there's a whole bunch of battle scenes
Okay, but like people don't die
No, no, but there is a couple of close calls. I'll be honest
Gotta be some tension in the film, but it's for chill. It's like rated PG even they don't even swear in it
No, and it's another classic Jack Black moment where he sings about chicken and lava chicken and stuff. So they were yeah
I know everybody's crazy for chicken jockey. Um, you know what this just came to mind
Maybe maybe it's maybe it's like
It's it like like Hunger Games, right? Isn't that a game? That'd be a game or not?
Maybe Hunger Games.
I mean, I can't argue with that logic.
It's a game they play and then people die, right?
That would be, that's a pretty decent guess.
Yeah, I'm gonna say Hunger Games.
Incorrect.
Incorrect.
Yeah.
Aren't you glad he didn't make you pick
a particular Hunger Games movie to get the correct title
of before telling you, no, it's none of the Hunger Games movie?
I think it was worth the trouble.
Yeah.
No reason to dwell on it.
Daniela, does that sound like something you recognize?
Some games you play, some you survive?
I know this is wrong, but I'm going to say War Games with Matthew Broderick.
Which I thought somebody would have said that with Are You Ready to Play? because that movie's
tagline was Shall We Play a Game? Which I often would say before playing games on this show,
but that movie's so damn old at this point that nobody gets the reference.
How about a nice game of chess?
Yeah. Falcon. Was the password they had to figure out.
Okay.
Well, hang on. I don't want to be that dick, but the password was Joshua. It's his dead son.
Oh, right
We went who's Falcons the name of that Falcons the guy who created it? Yeah. Yeah. There you go
There's my that's how my brain works. Okay
Sam, what do you think it is? Um, I have no guess. I don't think it's Jumanji. I'm gonna guess surviving the game. Oh
That's not a bad
Bad answer. It's not the right answer.
But I mean, this was kind of a tough one. This might be a movie nobody's seen. I saw it, wished I didn't.
It's not a bad movie. It's just got a
sequence in it that's very unsettling and it's called Gerald's Game.
Oh, wow. I read that book too.
Yeah, it was Stephen King, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, and then that guy, Mike Flanagan made the movie.
He's got another Stephen King movie coming out soon
called Life of Chuck.
But it's-
He's doing the Carrie series.
Yeah, but the Gerald's game is very, very disturbing. What one character has to do to get
out of a predicament. But that means that going into our final round,
Sam had the last guess on that one, so Danny gets the first guess.
Sam had the last guess on that one, so Danny gets the first guess. This is your chance to tie it up with Sam, Danny.
You ready?
Yeah.
All right.
Movie taglines.
Here we go.
Here we go.
This is not a game.
Oh my god, that's like so many movies.
That's like, yeah, that's like the deep voice sentence that at the end of everything like
this summer, this is not a game.
And you're like, what?
What is it?
They ran him over.
Will he find him?
Um, I don't know. I guess I'm going to go down the same rabbit hole as before.
Uh, this is not a game.
So maybe like a horror movie?
Um, what would be a horror movie from?
I saw one, uh, it's kind of old.
It's called Escape Room.
Maybe that's it.
You're a monster. It's called escape room. Maybe that's it.
You're a monster.
How can a movie called escape room be old? Like it was only a couple of years ago, right? I think it was like seven or eight years old.
Are you 19? What's going on?
Well, I mean, I got kids so anything over two years.
Oh, okay. I see.
Yeah, I don't know. Maybe escape room because that one's like a horror movie and if they lose they die and stuff
Right, but it's like
You know in the case of an escape room. Don't you think that it's pretty much always a game?
Yeah, I guess that's a good point. Yeah, we're there's a game. So yeah, that's incorrect, Daniela
I have two but I'll say one.
There's a predecessor, so I'll say saw.
Oh, that's a good guess.
Oh, there's like 11 saws.
I know.
I would not be able to differentiate.
I've only seen like two of them.
Yeah, I think I'm very low on the I've only seen a few
Let's see. I went to see saw and I saw saw then I didn't see saw to
Etc. Okay. I just like saying seesaw
And I saw them on see so
Remember see so yes. Oh anyway, Daniel, that was a fantastic guess, but not correct. Sam?
I...
This is the last round, right?
This is it.
You've already won.
Now it's just a matter of, you know, showing everybody
who's boss. Oh, I not me on this one. And slam dunk in this one. This is not ringing any bells. So
since you're obviously in a games and toys kick, the only thing that popped into my head was the
film that my dear old pal John Daly and his partner, Jonathan Goldstein directed called Game Night.
Daley and his partner, Jonathan Goldstein, directed called Game Night.
Oh, well, it wasn't my intention to, like, you know, pick a movie that your friends made, but it is game night. Oh, well done.
Oh, thank you. I was that's a did not expect that to be.
That was not a game. That was a cute, bloody, blood covered dog.
I was going to say, you know, I'm happy I didn't say that either.
What? Remember cube?
Oh, cube.
I remember blooming the cube.
That's kind of like the scape room and saw.
All right. So, Daniela, I want to give you one more because I did have one more in case we needed it. And I just want, you know, I
want you to feel good about today. Because I think you might know it.
Okay.
You ready?
This is a quote from a movie that I was in and I don't know that's gonna suck.
No, I wouldn't do that to you. But this, this does have the word game or toy in the title games and toys was the theme
Okay, and I really did mean that I really meant small soldiers in my head when I when I put down toy soldiers
Because I don't think there's any actual toy soldiers in that movie. There are no
Yeah, no toys. It's just a name for this
rebellious kids
Okay, but Daniella based on you know, everything has happened so far. I think you have a good shot at this one
What movie?
The tagline get ready to hit the road. Oh
God damn it
Okay, maybe not get ready to hit the road
Okay, maybe not. Get ready to hit the road.
Wait, that sounds like a trailer bit.
That's like another like, get ready to hit the road with like blah blah blah.
Get get ready to hit the road.
Oh, fuck me.
I have no fucking idea.
It's a sequel.
Okay, okay.
Uh, sequel. Okay, okay. Uh, sequel. In which they hit the road. But you have to
understand they have to get ready to hit the road. Oh, wrong. Terminator 2? There it is.
Oh, maybe maybe that was the tagline for Toy Minator. Get ready to hit the road.
I don't know, like a kids movie.
I don't know.
Yeah, a kids movie called Toy Story 4.
God damn it.
That's fucked up.
I do want to see the promo of Terminator where they're like,
hey, get ready to hit the road.
World.
Come on out. It'll be a lot of fun.
There's aliens and there's robots.
Yeah, hit the road with us.
It's a road movie.
They get on the motorcycle and they ride down the L.A.
River for a little while. I think a good editor could turn that movie into a road movie. They get on the motorcycle and they ride down the LA River for a little while.
I think a good editor could turn that movie
into a road trip comedy.
Sam, you get to do your plugs first.
What would you like to promote?
Oh, obviously you can find me on Cameo.
I can fulfill all your personalized video needs.
But then also, I misspoke last time.
So here in Los Angeles, at the end of this week,
Friday the 9th, at the Yard Theater, here in Los Angeles,
we are screening a film that I am in called Asteria,
and tickets are available likely somewhere.
So just Google Asteria, the Yard Theater, Los Angeles,
see you there.
How do you spell it?
Y-A-R-D. Los Angeles. See you there. How do you spell it? Y A R D.
A S T E R I A. Asteria.
The only reason I didn't laugh, Sam, is because I didn't want to.
No, that's fair. It was not a very witty retort.
I'm happy that wasn't Listeria. I was like, wait,
I don't think I want to watch him there.
Or or with stereo,
the stereo lane, desperate houses.
Well, I just put houses on that block.
Same block as the burbs. OK.
Daniela Pineda, accountant to is in burbs. Okay, Daniela Pineda, Accountant 2 is in theaters now. Watch
Accountant at home then go see Accountant 2. Yes, or buy a ticket and watch it
later on Prime. Yeah, and what... Oh yeah, also I'll plug one more thing. I got a bit on Tom Segura's new show, Bad Thoughts, which drops on Netflix, I think,
May 8th.
Okay, that's it.
I've been seeing stuff for it, so it must be soon.
Yeah, check that out.
Must be happening soon.
Fantastic.
Danny Hill, what would you like to promote?
Just check out my Instagram, at DJ Danny Hill.
I'm going to be in a movie coming up real soon.
It's called I clean up my garage because my wife asked me to and I'm excited to get that
done.
It's just me cleaning my garage.
So you know what's funny about Tom?
He actually took one of my videos and made fun of me for like eight minutes on his podcast
and I had so many people hit me up.
They're like Tom he's ripping you apart and I was like yeah that's awesome
so that was really cool he uh he picked one of my face
he picked one of my facial hair and said it was too red and that I needed to line
up my sideburns so I in my in my defense I went to a
barber that day and I had him line it up so I look a lot better Tom if you're
listening um so jealous because you have hair.
That's all.
You hear that, Tom?
Bullying works.
Yeah.
Bullying works.
Yeah.
Congratulations, Tom.
You did it.
