Starting point is 00:00:00 Doug hates candy wrappers screening baby sticky seeds with 50 acid pop or kernels in his teeth. There's still not one that he won't see because Doug loves movies. Hey, hey, hey, everybody. My name is Doug and I love movies. This is Doug loves movies recording on Sunday, August 31st, 2025. If you're in the L.A. area, come see me Tuesday night, September 2nd, Dynasty Typewriter. And if you're in New York, come see me on Monday, September 8th at the Gramercy Theater. My guests today are two newbies and a returning champion, Michael, Angelo Covino, Kyle, Marvin, and Monica Nevy. Hello.
Starting point is 00:00:53 Hi. Hi. Let's meet everybody individually and we'll break it down. We'll go in order alphabetically by first name. He is the co-writer and co-star of Splitsville in some theaters now but opening everywhere on Friday. It's Kyle Marvin. Hello, Kyle. Hello, I'm so good, so good to be here.
Starting point is 00:01:21 wow you're off to a great start it's strong it's my strong start yeah and thank you for being here would you please tell us I'm sure you've done lots of press for the films that's coming out soon but
Starting point is 00:01:38 tell us about the movie it is an unromantic comedy about a man who's faced with divorce and proceeds to make a series of insane choices. That's a really poor description of the film.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Oh, no. I'm not doing well this one. You've done it 100 times, and that was the worst one. I'm trying to mix it up. I was trying to mix it up for Doug. It didn't work very well. Well, I'd love to hear that the two of you are, you know, collaborating every aspect of this.
Starting point is 00:02:17 The actual tagline for the movie, think his unromantic comedy did they get that from you a little bit yeah well it's sort of because it's like a it's a it's a it's a little bit like a rom-com but it it is different it it follows different beats and things and it just it just feels different so we came up with the idea of calling it an unromantic comedy i don't know if it works we'll only time i'm not doing a good job of selling you we're both horrible at this this might be the the beginning of the end Well, I would hate to break up such a great partnership. You know, and the Coen brothers were on Douglas movies a few years back,
Starting point is 00:03:00 and that didn't work out great. Yeah, I look forward to break the part. They totally separated after that. But we will talk specifically to Michael in a second, but first, because of my wonky way of introducing everybody with the alphabetical by first name that means that wait a second
Starting point is 00:03:26 no this works out great we'll talk to you right now he is the director and co-star of Splitsville in limited release now but opening everywhere Friday it's Michael Angela Covino hello
Starting point is 00:03:39 hi hi I know we've already been speaking yeah I just jumped right in yeah that's the other thing about when two people are on the same Zoom, it doesn't switch faces for me visually. So I'm just looking at Kyle all the time. Okay, he's the one that sounds like a Muppet.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Yeah, I sound like it should be a busy puppet. But also, I'm sure you both answer to your given name, so it shouldn't be too confusing. But you want to take a crack at describing the movie, Michael? sure uh it is a it's a messy divorce comedy about uh really four people two couples who are dealing with the challenges of love and infidelity and and jealousy and it and it's but it's a screwball comedy in the style of those old 70s films so it's got big slapstick comedy physical set pieces and it's kind of zany but it's got a lot of heart how do you do kyle
Starting point is 00:04:42 he did great way better than me I'm going to give my mouth shut next time and we shouldn't neglect to mention that you guys managed to get two of the hottest most popular actresses I apologize for using the word
Starting point is 00:05:00 hottest that's like something Trump would say but they're very popular Andrea Arjohn how do you say it Arjona Adria Arjona Oh wow okay and Dahota Januszl. There we go.
Starting point is 00:05:15 That's correct. Well, thank you for being here, guys. And I would like to introduce our third guest today because she is a returning champion to the program. It's comedian Monica Nevi. Hello, Monica. Hello. Thanks for having me back.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Wow, you sound like NPR or something. I had, guys, I had such bad luck the first few times I did this and now I can't stop winning. So I just keep coming back. You'll definitely win today. I'm just telling you now. You're all set. I might win it explaining your movie, but otherwise. Well, that was going to be my first question for you, Monica. Could you tell us about your take on the movie Splitsville? Yeah, unromantic comedy is what I was going to say. Yeah, that was the good short. description, but then there's, there is so much more to it. How is things that, I know there was a recent injury in your home that shook things up quite a bit. How are things on that front?
Starting point is 00:06:29 Yeah, the summer's been a little stressful. My wife shattered her elbow, if you guys hadn't heard. But she's better, not better, but, you know, working again. and now we just try to move her elbow every day. So that's been taking up a lot of my time. Otherwise, I think September, we'll be back to normal touring again and things like that. All right, cool.
Starting point is 00:06:54 We'll do your plugs at the end of the show. And thank you for coming back to defend your title against these two whippersnappers. But before we play our games today, I would like each one of you to recommend a movie. It could be old, could be new, preferably something people can access somehow either in the theater or in their homes or on devices, even though I'd never like to watch anything, any feature-like thing on my phone. I refuse to do it, or a computer for that matter. let's go monica since you knew this question was coming let's go to you first what would you like to recommend okay the well maybe somebody's recommended it recently but um on netflix at the moment there's a it's like an anime
Starting point is 00:07:51 but it's k-pop demon hunters oh it's a big anime person very popular right yeah yeah i'm not an anime person and a friend of mine was like you should watch this with your son but it was like surprisingly funny and the music is good and I would recommend it for even people who aren't you know into anime or cartoons or whatever I thought you're going to say who weren't demon hunters yeah that too so that's cool that you enjoyed it and um you know sort of uh stumbled into it but what's confusing me about that title is I swear it's it's also the number one movie at the box office right now or it's doing quite well like in theaters
Starting point is 00:08:38 I think or is there a different same movie pop demon hunters it's the same thing same movie as it in the theaters as well they released it last week and yeah they released weekend after it topped like the Netflix chart I think all every kid in America is seeing it at the top of their lungs
Starting point is 00:08:57 and they're like get them into the theater sell some popcorn yeah there you go yeah because I think it did you know pretty well I think it stopped, what you'd call it? Weapons. They had that nice streak of several weeks of being number one. But it's good, Monica, to have a confirmation that K-pop demon hunters is worth our time. Especially with kids, though, right?
Starting point is 00:09:25 Yeah, definitely. And it's like, it's not, is it violent? No. that sounded like somebody threatened you they would do something to you if you said it was violent it was very timid
Starting point is 00:09:46 it does feel like it's fun it's fine yeah I don't know it's action but it's like fun kid action right yeah yeah and it's I feel like it's one of those where you're like oh I don't mind watching this with the kid
Starting point is 00:10:01 yeah okay yeah all right Yeah. Let's go to Kyle. Got a movie you'd like to recommend. And, you know, Splitsville is eligible if you just want to go that route. That's terrible. I'm not going to do my...
Starting point is 00:10:16 I'm trying to make money here. Come on. Let's go. Okay. I'm on a weird kick right now, and I've said this movie once before, and I'm going to say it again. The 5,000 fingers of Dr. T. is an incredible movie. written by Dr. Seuss
Starting point is 00:10:35 and the production design is like straight Dr. Seuss and I discovered it recently and I think it's a mass of weirdness yeah and it's just saying there's a cuteness and a charm to it that it's kind of
Starting point is 00:10:54 it's surprising how much I like that it should be demon hunter it should be demon hunter in that as like as like a pairing oh yeah that is a fun uh that's a good double bill
Starting point is 00:11:06 yeah much in like a marathon yeah yeah and um catchy as hell the songs in that uh in that movie person i think i think uh for whatever reason it didn't take but i think we can look back on it now i think it's time it's time we reflect i think it's come up uh on the show before because people people are into it like it's a cult classic if you will The how many fingers is it? The thousand?
Starting point is 00:11:35 I think it's $5,000. I think that's... Yeah, that's how many kids' fingers fit on that giant piano. Yeah. The giant piano clearly does not have the proper number of keys. No, no, or children. That's definitely not $5,000. 5,000 figures of Dr. T.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Tea. All right. Dr. T is a... Is that Hans Conrad? Does he play Dr. T? Oh, my gosh. You're smarter than I am. I would have to look at it.
Starting point is 00:12:10 I think so, but he's great. All right. Michael, how do you top what Kyle just said? I don't think I do. Well, I probably do. I haven't seen that film, so I don't know. But haven't you guys had to? What?
Starting point is 00:12:24 Yeah, then watch it. Yeah, we should. We should get together and watch it. But we have too many other things to watch. Usually we just, we watch things, and he sends me lists of things to watch. I sometimes do but most of the time don't are. I would suggest
Starting point is 00:12:38 in the spirit of kind of this movie that we made it's a film called The Seduction of Mimi by Lena Wirtmuller. Oh, you don't like that? No, I'm just, you know,
Starting point is 00:12:51 it's impressive. It's, you know, people don't come in with the classic foreign films. Well, this is, she's like one of the greatest filmmakers ever she had a run of maybe making four or five of the best movies really funniest most absurdist like incredible films of all time um i think she was like the first woman to be nominated
Starting point is 00:13:14 for an oscar right yeah is that was um anyway but that movie's pretty incredible it's it's the most like zany and absurd uh not zany but most like off the rails of of those four movies that she made in the 70s. What's another one? Women on the Verge? Seven beauties. Seven, seven beauties is like her masterpiece. But there's another one called love and anarchy. And it's all, John Carlo Giannini plays like the lead in all of these. And most of them are, it's Monica Viti across from him. But in love and anarchy, he plays like a, uh, uh, what, an anarchist who is trying to assassinate Mussolini. But he falls in love with a, he's, he's hiding out in a
Starting point is 00:13:59 Roth when he falls in love with a prostitute and then sleeps in and misses it. And it's like the most. And then she hates him for it. It's so, no, she, no, because she changes the alarm clock. She doesn't want him to die because he, they fall, and he hates her for it. And then he can't be in love with her anymore because she reset his alarm clock so that he would sleep in and not kill Mussolini. And it's so, it's just so brilliant.
Starting point is 00:14:23 The plot, but the performance is everything, it isn't. You recommend the seduction of Mimi, but described love and anarchy. Oh, yeah. Sorry. Well, you said, what's the other one? Seduction of Mimi is same actors, but crazier plot where, you know, should I describe it? Sure. There's no work in Sicily.
Starting point is 00:14:51 So he goes to the north to get in, and he falls in love with this. But he's married with kids, but he falls in love with this woman. And then basically the mob is everywhere. So the mob control, no matter where he goes, the mob is always controlling it. Then he comes back home and he has this mistress and he basically, he wants to be with his mistress. So he tries to convince someone to sleep with his wife so that he has a reason to break up with her. But then they do sleep together and he immediately becomes jealous and then and then he
Starting point is 00:15:20 wants to sleep with the wife of that of that guy. But she's like, 250 pounds. and so it's like this really insane I mean it just goes off the rails and it's really everything about it is kind of special the seduction of Mimi yeah
Starting point is 00:15:39 right on you guys did watch that one together we certainly did all of Lena Wurtmuller's movies we watched together yeah right on is there I don't you know you're busy
Starting point is 00:15:52 promoting Splitsville right now but are you cooking up something else like do you have your next thing happening? Yeah, yeah, we've written a couple scripts that a couple of them I will direct and then Kyle is directing a movie
Starting point is 00:16:09 about rock climbing. Yeah, we're tipping away. Yeah. And they're like, you know, in various places, they're like kind of in different stages of we're just trying to figure out what we're making next. But just tell me nobody's arm gets stuck between a couple of rocks. There's no sawing,
Starting point is 00:16:27 no sawing off of limbs. Okay, good. I know you guys do have a, you know, a little pension for, you know, some violent behavior. So it's nice to hear that the, it sounds like the rock climbing goes well. It's, there's violence. Oh, okay. Action. Perfect.
Starting point is 00:16:48 All right. Well, thank you for those recommendations, those fancy recommendations. And we're going to take a break. and when we come back, we'll play some games. Starting point is 00:18:42 We are back and our first game today, I've cooked this up special just for the co-creators of Splitsville, starring Dakota Johnson and themselves. That's so smooth of you guys. This game is called Which Dakota is it? Oh, boy. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:09 In this game, I will name a movie and you will tell me if it was filmed in North Dakota, South Dakota, or both. I like this. Easy to go. Both, okay. Yeah. I'll start with Kyle. I'll name a movie. You guess one of those three things. If you're wrong, then Michael gets a shot at it with just 50-50, just two possible answers. And if he misses it, then Monica, as she has often done in the past, will get the gimmee point.
Starting point is 00:19:47 And whenever somebody gets one right, we move on to the next person in the same order. to start the next round. Are you ready, Kyle? I'm ready. I'm here for it. All right. Filmed in North Dakota, South Dakota,
Starting point is 00:20:01 or both, a classic called Leprecon. Ooh. That is North Dakota, finally, I'm sorry. Oh, that was fast, and you locked in a final? He didn't even ask about lifelines.
Starting point is 00:20:18 No, no lifelines, I'm in. that is the correct answer there it is how did you access that so easily and quickly are you a big leprechaun fan
Starting point is 00:20:33 I do I do love those I love those films but it just felt right it's a good it's a good choice because it was so confident though I know that's my problem I'm really confident and generally wrong I can't imagine a show where the lepricon movie had to cross state lines to finish shooting that's the biggest yeah that was out for sure yeah they had to keep it
Starting point is 00:20:57 keep it to one state all right so Kyle's on the board already he's got a point all right Michael you're gonna go first on this one South Dakota North Dakota are both the motion picture nomad land oh South Dakota final answer I mean Monica I don't know what's going on I mean And speed isn't going to be like, you know, you're not judged by speed, but these guys are tearing it up. That is correct. South Dakota. Wow. Setting of nomad.
Starting point is 00:21:32 I was already worried I wouldn't be good at this anyways. And you guys are just crushing it. Yeah. They're just boom, boom, boom. But we'll, you know, we'll see where this goes. I feel like the way these are laid out, this one's going to be the other one. It's not that easy. It can't be that easy.
Starting point is 00:21:49 You know, the person who just doesn't even read the questions on a test, you just make a cute pattern on the... Put C or whatever. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, just like this, well, this one has to be that, because that last one was that. A, B, B, B, A, B, that kind of thing. I thought I was the only person who did that. You know, I'd say it's like second best to actually knowing the answers. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:16 is having at least some sort of plan for, you know, some sort of pattern. But as people who listen to the show and participate on it, the patterns are, I'm not above doing a game where it's the same answer the entire time. But so far, we do have a North Dakota and a South Dakota, and it's Monica's turn. Monica, North-South are both the film, the classic. Academy Award winning Maybe in my top 10 least deserving
Starting point is 00:22:52 of best picture of all time dances with wolves Oh I'd say both Both is correct It was quick And it was accurate I'm proud of you
Starting point is 00:23:11 I was very well done I genuinely thought about it too Thanks guys This is good We're all on We're all fire This is the answer I mean when you're dancing with wolves
Starting point is 00:23:21 Of course you're going to step over state lines How can you know How can you avoid it? They're wild animals They're all those do not know where the line is Yeah No they don't care about that I don't even think
Starting point is 00:23:32 Poster knew where the line was No no he never knows No he's uh He roams wild and they just have to catch him He sees a line that says too long And he steps over it That last thing that he tried put out it's like going to be seven hours long
Starting point is 00:23:47 or something it's like what is happening uh okay we have the three way tie this is terribly exciting we're going back to Kyle oh wow you're still on it oh yeah south or north or both another classic
Starting point is 00:24:03 this time I mean it Starship Troopers oh wow I didn't even know it was shot in the Dakotas I am going to go I'm going to say both I'm going to say I'm wrong
Starting point is 00:24:21 it's south but I'm going to say both because they had to have like roamed around to get all that great you know out exterior shots both
Starting point is 00:24:31 I like you covering your tracks both yeah so it's good to mention two out of three answers because in that way at least you're sort of right even if you're wrong the next personal one
Starting point is 00:24:42 It might be right. I'm going both. I'm going both because there was a lot of bugs to kill. They sure were. Lock it in, final answer? Yep. Incorrect. Oh, I knew it.
Starting point is 00:24:56 Michael, this is your chance to speak. He was very certain about South, so I'm going to go South. He really helped you out there, didn't me? He really did. I think it's the answer. Sorry, Monica. South is the correct answer. So Michael got that one.
Starting point is 00:25:11 But Monica, you have a good. a chance to catch up and tie it up if you can tell me i do i get like an assist no you do not oh god damn no you get that was that was great to be like it's wrong it's south but so you just get shame for talking yourself out of the correctness we're our own worst enemy with these things sometimes but monica where do you think they filmed national treasure colon book of secrets the sequel to the book of secrets
Starting point is 00:25:47 to the Nick Cage movie South Dakota and North Dakota are both feels like it feels like Idaho feels like an Idaho well you know
Starting point is 00:25:57 there could have been I believe it was a bit of a not a globe trotter but a United States trotter so like it could have been filled in multiple places but which of the
Starting point is 00:26:05 Dakotas are both I guess okay I'm gonna say north it's always great having you on the show monica that is incorrect Kyle
Starting point is 00:26:24 I'm trying to think of what geographic I'm trying to think of what significant geographic thing was in that I'm going to say south I'm going to go south only because I don't actually know and I feel like there's landmarks in the south I love that
Starting point is 00:26:41 you were able to get there while actually not knowing what you're talking about and the pattern is emerging south is correct and yes it turns out that there's a thing called Mount Rushmore I was I didn't want to say it because
Starting point is 00:26:55 I just in case you know he would have gotten the give me point anyway if you missed it it wouldn't matter if you gave him but yeah excellent work Kyle it is of course South Dakota
Starting point is 00:27:11 and Michael because I like to have a winner in these things they tend to get easier as we go great wow so this is to for the win Michael if you get this give me Fargo it is in fact Fargo yeah
Starting point is 00:27:31 you're going to go with North Dakota on this one you think it might be North Dakota I think he's got a little bit of Minnesota in that right yeah but it's only which Dakota I understand the game. I'm just sort of throwing him on the phone. Just showing off all over the place
Starting point is 00:27:49 is what he's doing. Yeah, that is correct. Michael, the infamous snowblower with Steve Buscemi's arm in is in Fargo, North Dakota. So, congratulations, Michael. You won
Starting point is 00:28:06 this game, and I'll tell you what that means after we take a break we'll be right back we are back and congratulations again to michael for winning the first game today and all that means is that you get to go first in our second and final game that determines uh the winner so you're all back to square one basically but uh michael does get to go first i don't get to keep any of those points you don't get anything from All you get is maybe a good position in this final game. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:48 Maybe. We'll see. Sometimes it works in your favor. I feel like I should have saved my energy. You really got to pace yourself. Yeah, I really, I didn't know this was a marathon. I got to rethink my whole strategy now. It is a wild hour, and I'm sorry that the break is over,
Starting point is 00:29:08 because now it's too late for you to, like, you know, carbillode or whatever it is you feel like you need to do it to bring this thing home but to finish us off today we are playing a game that I call weird algorithm and this
Starting point is 00:29:24 is based on the silly algorithm that they have on the internet movie database where you know you can look up any movie on IMDB it'll be in there and then you can take the cast list of the film
Starting point is 00:29:40 and refine it, reorder it in order of everybody's popularity according to the algorithm on the IMDB. So basically it's people that are being searched for whatever reason on IMDP. So like if somebody passes, they tend to shoot up on the popularity meter because people are looking into them and what they're, you know, what they did when they were with us. So I'll name a movie And then
Starting point is 00:30:13 I'll also tell you the top two Build stars of the movie The two stars of the film But then you each have to guess Who you think from that movie Either from those two names Or one you pull on your own You have to guess which ones you think
Starting point is 00:30:31 Would be the most popular According to IMDP We'll start In the first round with Michael The star meter, yes. We'll start with Michael on the first round, and then each round we'll rotate to Kyle and then to Monica.
Starting point is 00:30:50 So you each get a chance to go first once. But like I said, Michael gets the very first time. Now, if you name an actor who's number one, you get three points. If you name an actor who's number two, you get two points. And if you get the actor in the third slot, you get one point and you can also share answers when it's your turn you have to lock in an answer but it can be the same as somebody else if you you know just think that that's you
Starting point is 00:31:21 know that's the way to go uh i don't think there's anything else to uh to say other than to uh start i think i covered everything Michael? Yes. You get the first guess on the first round, a motion picture from 1986 called Legal Eagles. Fantastic.
Starting point is 00:31:55 starred Robert Redford and Deborah Winger. But there was other actors in it. If you can think of anybody else that was in it, are you familiar with this movie, Michael? No, Kyle clearly is. No, no, I have. I'm not either. I just love the name so much. You love legal eagles? Oh, I love it.
Starting point is 00:32:17 Okay. Softball team, if ever I heard one. Yeah, so I'm screwed on this one. Let's go with Robert Redford. I feel like Debra Winger is doing something. You can pick one and two, he's saying. No, no, you just pick one. Just name one, but everybody else could say,
Starting point is 00:32:36 Kyle and Monica. This is Kurt. our meter right yeah current like right now in this like today i did this today okay i got it all right so uh is debor winger in a tv show no uh i'll go with robert redford he's he's a good steady you know he's he's always on the top of people's minds stick with that yeah he's great boring answer but it's what it is uh i don't think there's any exciting answers when it comes to the cast of legal eagles but Kyle, you only like the title. You've never seen the film.
Starting point is 00:33:12 I haven't seen the film, but I'm going to now, because I go only by titles. That's a good one. Doesn't she go or you go? Oh, yeah. Actually, in the rotation, Monica, I think you're next. No, it's Kyle. The order also flips.
Starting point is 00:33:26 Ah, got a, geez, please. Okay. I'm going to go, I'm going to, I'm going to go Redford as well. I think that's the, I think that's there. I'm, I have, I'm not following you. I have to follow you. okay he's shaking yeah strategically you can break from the other players
Starting point is 00:33:41 in a later round but for now the two of you will have the same score whatever it ends up being Monica do you want to go with Redford or Deborah Winger or another name somebody else I assume this movie is a little before your time
Starting point is 00:33:59 yeah I would have to know somebody else in the movie I would have to know somebody else in the movie I would Just to throw it, I'll do Debra Winger. I don't know why she would be searched right now, but maybe. I think you're right. Yeah, my people like to be typing,
Starting point is 00:34:15 what happened to Debra Winger? Yeah. Where do I get some Debra Winger action? I kind of want to change my answer to Jeff Winger, but I don't know that he's in the film. It's a good swing. To who? Judge Reinholt.
Starting point is 00:34:29 I mean, when is it never a good time to say, Josh Wiener? No, I'm not doing that. Didn't some sitcom like Arrested Development or something actually put him at play, having to play a judge? Yeah, yeah, that's, yes. Judge, Judge, Judge. What a crazy-ass name to give your child, Judge.
Starting point is 00:34:48 I love it, now. That's like I always see that guy on TV as a reporter. His name's Major Garrett. And whenever they introduce him, I think, oh, some guy from the military's coming out. Give his opinion, this is this reporter whose first name is Major. Why, you shouldn't be able to do that.
Starting point is 00:35:03 Okay. but this was an exciting round because obviously no one has seen this movie I have it's not very good they're lawyers Robert Redford and Debra Winger
Starting point is 00:35:17 and there's a love triangle with Darrell Hannah and there's like stolen art and there's a fire and you know there's some action scenes you know it's directed by Ivan Reitman and it was when he was
Starting point is 00:35:31 you know come off Ghostbusters and could do whatever he wants and he did that. So number three of the cast is a great actress who, like we said, if you haven't seen the movie, we wouldn't even know she was in it.
Starting point is 00:35:48 Christine Baranski. The number two is the person of Kyle and Michael both guessed, Robert Redford. So you each get two points for that. And then I'm Sorry, Monica.
Starting point is 00:36:04 Deborah Winger didn't make the cut. Oh, wow. Brutal. Didn't even make it in the top three. Didn't make the top three because number one is a tremendous actor who we just lost. Terrence Stamp brings his villainous stamp to the proceedings in legal eagles. So we got a two-way tie, but Monica, you're never, as you know, you're never too far behind. to catch up on this thing.
Starting point is 00:36:36 And Kyle gets to go first on round two. All right. I'm here. You ready, Kyle? I'm here. Let's do it. The motion picture from 2016, Mother's Day, starring Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson.
Starting point is 00:36:55 Okay. All right. They made a movie called Mother's Day? Yeah, it was, you know, know a Gary Marshall. Oh, yeah. Oh. Thank goodness he finished the trilogy
Starting point is 00:37:08 before dying because it was after Valentine's Day and New Year's Day, New Year's Eve. So they're all part of the same thing. Got it. Well, you know, sort of part of the same thing. But yeah. Similar casts.
Starting point is 00:37:25 And this one, two of the leads in an ensemble cast were Jennifer Ashton and Kate Hudson. Well, okay, the question becomes, was, are they the mothers or are they interacting with their mothers? 2016, they're not the mothers. They have mothers for this mother. Right?
Starting point is 00:37:46 I mean, I'm just thinking there has to be a famous, older actress. You're going to just wing it? You're going to just go for. I'm just going to guess an actress, like, some actress, like. Now, Diane Keaton wouldn't be old enough. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:38:01 That's a great question. I don't, I saw, I've seen the movie and I think it's, I think it's just that they're not young, you know, they're like ladies in their 30s who have kids. It's their day. It's their day. I think. And it's definitely Jennifer Aniston. Okay. It has to be Jennifer Aniston. I like your certain. Another, unless there's another mother. Right. That's the problem. There's a lot of people in the movie for sure. yeah those people
Starting point is 00:38:33 have two people there's definitely other people in this there could be a love that Christmas movie there's a love there's a love actually
Starting point is 00:38:47 it's like it's like all these movies are oh okay love actually yeah I know I was going to say there's definitely
Starting point is 00:38:51 a love interest in a Mother's Day movie yeah they're like episodic and they you know might have Ashton Coucher
Starting point is 00:38:58 yeah damn it I'm gonna go with Jennifer because I otherwise it'd be a Monard. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:04 Monica? I have seen this. And there is another actress that is pocketed. I can't remember if it's Julia Roberts or Jane Fonda, if it keeps coming to my head. But I think that's a different mother's movie. what I'm afraid of I was going to go with Kate Hudson genuinely because I had just watched a show
Starting point is 00:39:36 that she was in but that's only that's just what I'm searching I guess but I'm afraid it's going to be whoever the other female actresses I think you just go for a swing I say you just pick it Judge Reinhold
Starting point is 00:39:50 no I think it's how he plays mind games I'm going to say Julia Roberts because if it was during that time she would and isn't she in a new movie now so people would be searching her i love that i support you let's do it i'm i'm just like i'm to say julia roberts watch her not be in the movie why okay julie rober all right michael i'm gonna go with kate hudson because apparently you just told me that
Starting point is 00:40:19 she's in something and i didn't know that so that's exciting yeah she's in a thing where she owns the the team um yeah basketball one yeah what's it called playing to win Running Point. That's it. Running point. It's called running point. Yeah. But I hear it's quite good.
Starting point is 00:40:36 Did you like it? Yeah, I liked it a lot. I like sports, anything, especially basketball. So it was funny, too. And I do think it's kind of close to like the Lakers owner's stuff. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:50 Yeah. Yeah. People seem to really, really be into it. I, you know, that's how not into basketball stuff I am is I've only almost. watched it. Yeah. But it's also like brand,
Starting point is 00:41:04 brand new, but it is on Netflix. Yeah, well, they're making a second season. It got picked up. Okay, so yeah,
Starting point is 00:41:10 people could be searching her because of that. Absolutely could be, yes. Okay. Here we go. Here are the results. Coming in,
Starting point is 00:41:21 number three, you know, she's just popular all the time, I think. So that's why she would just be number three is Jennifer. for Anderson.
Starting point is 00:41:30 Okay. All right. I'll take it. So that's one for Kyle. Number two. I'm so proud of you, Monica, because you pulled Julia Roberts out of nowhere. And that's how you really succeed in this game.
Starting point is 00:41:46 She is number two. Good work. Wow. Yes. That's two points for Monica for that. And, yeah, she's in. There's a new movie coming out with her, and it called After the Hunt.
Starting point is 00:41:58 and there's Oscar talk. Yeah, I saw some, the, their press about it or whatever. Yeah, it sounds heavy. It sounds heavy. I like to see that Julia Roberts smile. I don't need to do dramas. And then number one,
Starting point is 00:42:15 this was another one where, you know, if you knew about the movie and you knew that he was currently in two different TV series on streaming, then you might have guessed Timothy Oliphant. Oh, wow. Yeah, so sorry, no Kate Hudson. Emily over Julia Roberts.
Starting point is 00:42:38 That's a lot. He's in stick and he's in alien earth. You got to know, it's about searchability. So sometimes people go, what's that guy's name and they look him up? Yeah. They do have a Timothy Oliphant, but, you know. That's true. Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:42:54 If you're curious about someone, that boosts it. Well, this is very, uh, Very exciting these numbers, I have to say, because it's a very close race with Kyle in the lead with three. Michael has two. Monica has two. And Monica gets to go first in our final round. And the movie is from 2000, what is that, six or a nine, but it's called high fidelity. Okay.
Starting point is 00:43:26 Okay. Hi Fidelity, starring John Kuzek, and the actress who placed his love interest in the movie, I think she maybe is in one or two other films. Now, I don't know what happened to her, but I've never known how to pronounce her name. Her first name is Iben, I-B-E-N, and her last name is mostly consonants. It's H-J-E-J-L-E. How do you think you say that? H-G-L-G-L?
Starting point is 00:43:56 H-J-E. J-L-E. J-L-E. Oh, Captain Hegel. Hegel? You say it like that? Wait, no. Hegel?
Starting point is 00:44:06 You say it like, He-E-I-G-L. E-E-E-O-E-E-O-I-G-E-O-G-E. There's no G-L-E-J-L-E, H-J-L-E, H-J-L-E. H-L-J-L-L-J-L. Yeah. However you say it was probably, you probably might have been what HAL turned back. that movie is very popular but also she you know that's one thing i didn't like about that movie
Starting point is 00:44:32 is she was they kind of just played her so her character was so wishy-washy but anyway there's lots of other people in the movie who do you think monica would make the top three the one that i can think that i know he's in this movie so that's good and i feel like people search him all the time is jack black that's your answer god damn it yep i'm gonna go with jack black okay
Starting point is 00:45:01 i'm gonna go i was gonna say jack black i thought i was really clever what was the other jack black movie uh be kind of rewind that's a different i know but i was just saying it's in the same the same music store
Starting point is 00:45:14 yeah different different era right yeah completely different movie um well i'm gonna go jack black too i'm gonna go jack black too i'm gonna go jack black for you have to Kyle also
Starting point is 00:45:27 Yeah I'm locked in on Jack Black That's the answer And Michael's also Jack Black He just did Minecraft Yeah Yeah he did Yeah he's Jack Black I think he's I think he's
Starting point is 00:45:39 He's definitely top three Kids kids are Googling Did you watch? Who's seen Minecraft? Oh man We watch it together And it's kind of a master It might be my favorite movie of the year
Starting point is 00:45:50 I was like Perid Hess is killing it you know my girlfriend is rightly not psyched about you know excited about video game movies and I'm a little less so than her I mean a little more so than her but not not much and so I was like I'll watch Minecraft without you and you're gone sometimes so I turned it on and within two minutes I was like well she's probably you know I think she'll like this so I turned it off and I haven't washed it yet because I really do I think I'm going to love it I like just the first couple of minutes are so engaging
Starting point is 00:46:22 And I was just like, oh, this is going to be fantastic. If you like Napoleon Dynamite and you like Nacho Libre, you will love. Genuinely. Oh, that's great. That's great. And Jason Mamo is great. It's the same director, but it's Jack Black and Jason Mamoa. They're just pitch perfect.
Starting point is 00:46:39 Yeah. Yeah, so nut. It just seems so nutty and fun and like, you know, just inventive. So, yeah. Demon Hunter, 5,000 fingers of Mr. T. and Minecraft. That's a three. You just watch all of them back.
Starting point is 00:46:55 That's it. That's the next. That's a rainy day right there. All right. So what happened? You all said Jack Black. I just went into a sheer panic
Starting point is 00:47:07 because this is very exciting. Jack Black is number three. Wow. Yeah. I mean, he must just be having a moment. of peace before he blows up again because Minecraft's been on streaming for a few weeks now
Starting point is 00:47:27 but you know still number three is nothing to sneeze at but worth one point for each of you so then that officially makes Kyle the winner with a total of four points wait but now we have to know who was
Starting point is 00:47:43 two and one how I need to know of course I'm going to tell you who two and one were after these mess we don't have another break number two Number two was the Q, John Cusick. Wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:58 Really? I don't know what he's up to other than, you know, being very political in his tweets. But he's, he finished at number two. And at number one, because she is in a very popular program on Netflix called Wednesday. and you may recall John Cusack has a series of relationships that they highlight
Starting point is 00:48:26 over the course of the film and one of his girlfriends is Catherine Zeta Jones. Wow. So she was number one and would have been worth the big three points. This is all over the place, man.
Starting point is 00:48:44 It really is. It's hard to it's hard to nail it down so it really makes it anybody's game but Kyle you pulled it off you're the officially the winner today and that means
Starting point is 00:48:59 you get to do your what you want to promote you get to go first I'm guessing Splitsville yeah I'm gonna do it but I probably turn it over to Mike because I've been flopping at it
Starting point is 00:49:12 no I think we're coming out in theaters it's a movie you want to laugh at I think comedy in sitting in a room full of people and laughing is such a great experience. And so I'm just pushing, like go out, go to a movie theater and have a blast with a bunch of strangers. Normally one with a horrible laugh, it annoys the whole theater. And you can, you know, unless you're in select city, I'm guessing it's like sort of New York and L.A. currently. No, it's a, it's a, I think starting, this is my time to remember. promote the movie.
Starting point is 00:49:48 Well, then answer. Yeah. Friday, Friday it goes, it goes wide. It's in, it's in, it's in a bunch of cities now,
Starting point is 00:49:56 but it goes wide this coming Friday. Yeah. Yeah. So it should mean there should be screenings available on Thursday because that's out of it now. Yeah. So don't wait.
Starting point is 00:50:06 Go as soon as you can to see Splitsville. And just for, just to throw it out there for everybody. I was rocked by the news that Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson are just pretending to be a couple for PR reasons for a naked gun
Starting point is 00:50:28 and did you hear that that they were I know how things go I think they just fell apart oh really you think that I think it's a trit I'm calling it as a trist and it just fell apart that's an interesting angle i fell apart fast yeah that's okay that happens because people say that
Starting point is 00:50:52 there was like no contact between the two of them for like the year between they shut when they shot and when they went out on the promotional tour so maybe what you're saying is they kind of fell in love on the promotional tour but then it it ended immediately i'm i'm sticking by that i don't mind it okay good i don't mind throwing that out there i just said go in love so whatever happened. I feel bad about it because I was happy for both. They both seemed like it was such a good stunt, whether it was real or imagined, because
Starting point is 00:51:22 they both just seemed so perfect for like, oh, yeah, that's great. They both kind of need somebody right now, and then they could be this, you know, cute power couple. I love it. That one guy on Bravo, that Andy Cohen guy was like saying to Liam Neeson, like,
Starting point is 00:51:39 oh, she reminds me so much of your dead wife, you know? Like, they were really playing into it. yeah it was crazy um but that being said the tiebreaker in today's game we have a second here so i'm going to share it with you the tiebreaker in today's game uh was going to be uh whoever uh whoever's turn it was would have to answer who do you think right now is ranked higher on the uh star meter on i mdb Liam Neeson or Pamela Anderson
Starting point is 00:52:16 Maybe Mike and Monica need to break their tie with that question You tied for second Yeah we got to settle this It's really important to settle It has to be a first second and a third There can't be a tie in time All right so Monica
Starting point is 00:52:32 You guess and if you get this right You came in second If you miss it Mike I'm going to go with I'm going to go with Pamela because I feel like people search her most of the time anyways, and then the makeup thing, you know? There's been a lot of searching because of the makeup thing.
Starting point is 00:52:51 So she likes to go makeup free. Congratulations, Michael. You are second place. Yes. It's William Leeson, but who knows by how much, you know, like I'm sure they're both super popular right now because people love that movie. like you know people that want to go back to theaters and laugh again and you can go back and laugh again
Starting point is 00:53:23 starting very soon when you see Splitsville directed and co-starring really dramatic here Michael Angela Covino how much
Starting point is 00:53:41 has been made in your life Michael of the Michael Angelo, the two names, if you say them fast, it just sounds like you're saying the famous artist, Michelangelo. Well, so that actually, I think technically speaking is my name, but I broke it up because it was, it was like too long on travel documents and stuff. So it's, I don't know. I love that. I love that.
Starting point is 00:54:06 That's really cool. I made it. I mean, yeah, I'm confused by it because I have documents in my life that are like legal. that say Michelangelo, all one word. Yeah. And then other things. And so I've been trying to get to the bottom of it. I think what happened is, so it's my dad's name,
Starting point is 00:54:22 but my mom wanted to name me after the painter. So she changed it to that on a bunch of documents. And then my dad was like, yeah, but he's named after me. So anyway, it's that. That's what's going on. What's your, do you also have a middle name? No. So depending on who you ask of my parents,
Starting point is 00:54:41 one says my middle name is Angela. out of the other one doesn't give me a middle name because it's just one long first name. Okay. Wow. That's a... And then there's Kyle. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:54 That's just Kyle. Yeah. This movie is made by two great artists, Michelangelo and Kyle. Yeah. They were going to name the fifth Ninja Turtle, Kyle. It doesn't have a ring. But so I assume
Starting point is 00:55:12 that Michael your promo you'd like to promote the movie as well yeah I don't think it would hurt yeah you know it might help but it won't hurt so yeah I would say
Starting point is 00:55:27 yeah splitsville is have you guys been to the AMC at the Grove we have lately yeah there's that big thing that big bright sign that changes movies
Starting point is 00:55:42 every couple of minutes that splits a lot out of it out so your giant cut up faces are on there. Yeah. Yeah, it's it's great. Nice. The only reason we do it. We do it for the big Yeah. That's the goal. If that doesn't happen, what will we even
Starting point is 00:55:58 doing? Thank you for being here, guys. Monica Nevy, what would you like to promote? Oh, I'll be back on the road doing comedy if you want to come sit in a room with strangers and laugh. in September, so Monicaneveecom.com.
Starting point is 00:56:15 And then this Friday, I will be going to see Splitsville. Nice, yeah, go see Splitsville. Monica, Monica, everybody. Monica can have my title. I just gave it my title. She wins. That was it. I thought it.
