Thank you and enjoy the show. movies recording on Wednesday, October 7th, 2026. And before I introduce my guests, I need to say that I announced the wrong winner on last week's show. James Pound and Alex Castain were very polite and didn't correct me when I, much like Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty, said the wrong name.
Starting point is 00:02:37 Alex was the winner, and he'll be back on soon. Speaking of winners, my guests today are... Paget Brewster, Chris Porter, and Samantha Ruddy. Hello. Hello. Let's meet everybody individually, alphabetically, starting with Mrs. Doubtfire. No, by first name. He is making his third appearance on the show.
Starting point is 00:03:03 It's been too long. The hilarious Chris Porter. Hey, Chris. Hey, Doug. How are you, buddy? I'm good. How are you? I'm fantastic.
Starting point is 00:03:13 I hear. tell that you have a new special. I do. It's called middle rage. It's like middle age, but with like a horror movie R next to it. I love it. Yeah, it's a play on words. Yeah, but probably, you probably have some stuff you're mad about that you talk about
Starting point is 00:03:36 in the special. Yeah, it's just about, you know, your late 40s are about the time where you realize that the youth have no idea what your youth was like and vice versa. Yeah, I buy into that theory. Yeah. So it's a lot of, it's just why aren't, I just turned into an old man,
Starting point is 00:04:00 Doug, it's just why aren't things the way they used to be? And you kids these days don't know. And, but it's honest and it's genuine because it's, I am confused. And it's been a stapling calm stand-up comedy for many years. Remember this and you just bring up a thing people remember and people are excited to all remember.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Oh, very much so. It is applause, break city. Well, thank you for being here. Where can people see the special? It just went free. So Amazon Prime, you know, not Netflix, but I think, I don't know. Some of those outlets, but definitely Prime. Yes.
Starting point is 00:04:44 All right, cool. She is making what I believe to be her 25th appearance on this show. From her first time in 2006, the year we started to now 20 years later, it's Padgett Brewster. Oh, me. Yeah. Wow. Yeah, you. I've done that many?
Starting point is 00:05:07 Yes. Isn't that crazy? That is crazy. It's basically an average of one. 1.5 or less a year. Oh, oh, God. Once you average it out, but I think in the last few years you've come on much stronger and you appear more often because I can, like, call you that morning.
Starting point is 00:05:26 You just text me. Are you solving criminal crimes with your mind today? So that means because you're here, I assume that means you're in a hiatus. Yes, we've finished shooting September 12th. Okay, I'm going to put that in the record. Season 20, and I think they'll start airing on Paramount Plus in May when we will hopefully be going back to start shooting season 21. I don't know. Paramount's been real quiet because they've been busy.
Starting point is 00:06:04 Well, they're, yeah, they're transitioning into a sky dancer. Yes. Yes. So, yeah. The whole situation is. is wild, but I think, you know, as a franchise goes, there's a series goes, people are in love with it. And I can't imagine not making more.
Starting point is 00:06:27 That's nice. Doug, I hope that's the case. Yeah. Criminal minds, Paramount Plus. Yeah. Primal Minds, Paramount Plus. Yeah, whisper it. That's good.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Let's get the subliminal. Got to get that. A-S-M-R crowd. I'm thinking about doing that if criminal minds is not picked up. Can you just decide to do that and put it on YouTube or something and somehow monetize it? Be an ASMR person? Yeah, you just eat potato chips and like tell a Ray Bradbury story real quiet, right? I think, I don't know if people want those two at the same time, but they seem like the kinds
Starting point is 00:07:07 of things people are into, but you know, you just, you never know what people are going to, people are going to like. There's a lot of niche stuff out there. And my third guest, making appearance number eight, I think. The very funny, Samantha, Samantha. Beotio. Hey, Doug. How long do you think, like, when was your, do you remember the year of your first appearance on this show? You know, I want to say it was either the very late 2010s, like 2018, 2019, or maybe during the pandemic.
Starting point is 00:07:42 Yeah. I think that's a pandemic is a very strong possibility because we, you know, forged ahead. That's where we started doing these Zoom shows. And you're on the East Coast. So like it's been great being able to have you on even though we're opposite sides of the country. Doug, it's been one of the joys of my life. Do you have any gigs that you want to plug before we move into the next portion of the show? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:11 So I'm a Philly girl. I'm over here in the southeast corner of the Pennsylvania, and I would love if on December 6th, people could come to my last headlining home show for the year at Claude's Comedy Club. What's the place called? It's called Claude's Comedy Club. It's this new club that just opened up. Yeah, it's in South Philly. Yeah, I think I've heard about it. I've heard some good things, I think, but I just, I didn't recognize the word Claude.
Starting point is 00:08:40 It's interesting. Yes. It's a baby you don't really hear that much anymore. No, yeah, you really don't. It's kind of a throwback. And the guy who owns it, not named Claude. So I'll have to ask. Yeah, there must be some story behind it.
Starting point is 00:08:57 I hope Claude isn't dead. That'll be sad. I hope Claude is thriving. And so go see Samantha and Claude on December 6th. I think you did a set, I think, the last time I did a show last time I was in Philly at Helium there.
Starting point is 00:09:16 Yes, that was a lot of fun. Yeah, you're great, so people need to come out and see you. Thank you for being here today. Thank you. I've got two games, two fun games playing for y'all today, but first it's October, so
Starting point is 00:09:33 please, each one of you recommend one horror movie, Chris, Go. Chris go. Chris go. Here's the thing I don't watch.
Starting point is 00:09:48 The last horror movie I saw was the one where everyone has to be quiet. Quiet place. Yeah. Okay, so I've got one point. Okay, so yeah. So that and but I guess for the youth, I would say
Starting point is 00:10:06 Blazing Saddles, because I think it would horrify a lot of young people, but I think it's really funny. Well, yeah, I think that's a fantastic twist answer. Thank you. Because you didn't just go with a movie that is horrifying, but not horror. You know, like something like social network. And you went with a movie that truly does have, especially to today's audience, by some horrifying elements.
Starting point is 00:10:38 yeah but also it's like the people that are being horrifying are you know we're making fun of them that's no that's really the that's the issue that the young that's what the young people don't see is that they're like yeah no we're making fun
Starting point is 00:10:54 of them for being so stupid and saying these things yeah no it is it's that was uh you know Mel Brooks really uh just I don't think he made a movie where he didn't go after Hitler and he'll be like what's so funny about Hitler and he's like nothing is funny about Hitler and that's why we have to make it.
Starting point is 00:11:13 Exactly. All right. Yeah, I feel like Hitler shows up in Blazing Saddles, like in the big fight scene or something. I think so. They see him in the commissary. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, at the end.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Yeah, they lose me right after the bunkers scene. All right, Padgett. I know you are a genuine horror fan, but also scared at the same time. Is that accurate? No. I just don't watch as many movies as you. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:11:45 I mostly watch TV. You know that about me. I see. I'm glad that you accept our differences and we can still be friends. Is there any good horror TV? Okay, well, see, I don't want to let you down. I'll tell you what I did see you, that I did enjoy, and I was surprised by. I think it's from 2009.
Starting point is 00:12:03 You're going to know. I don't. It, uh, my husband and I just got the Criterion collection and I was surprised to see this movie in it that I'd never seen before that is called Jennifer's body. Oh, okay. Which is the Megan Fox, Amanda Seafreed. Yeah. Which is a horror film. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:22 And, uh, I, so Diablo, Diablo Cody wrote it. Yeah. Yeah. I did not recognize the director. Oh, she's done lots of stuff. Okay, okay. Karen Kucama. Yes. God, see, I know you know all the stuff. I thought it was very good. I enjoyed it. I thought it was good.
Starting point is 00:12:42 People do enjoy it very much. It's like, you know, I think it's achieved cult status because I don't think it made a ton of money when it came out. And I don't know what it's rotten tomatoes scoria. I don't either. But, you know, if it's come on strong over the year. If it's included in the Criterion Collection, that's why I was like, well, now I got to see it. I mean, the games have claimed it. Oh.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Yeah, that's what it is. Yes. Yes. Well, they know their shit. Because I liked it. I just, I heard that this new movie Verity. I've been hearing a lot about that. It's supposed to be like, you know, sexy, mystery, you know. And like, I hear that it's not much of either.
Starting point is 00:13:29 But I have it. Yeah, the reviews have been very bad. But, you know, that's no reason to stay away from a movie that's got Anne Hathaway involved. I think she makes pretty good choices normally. Yeah. Okay, Samantha, what's your pick? I will preface this with I have been told that I have lowy taste in film. I'm going to go with Final Destination Bloodlines.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Oh, solid. Good movie. I support you. So fun. So fun. Great. Thank you. Great.
Starting point is 00:14:05 I just, I know it's not high art, but for the month of October, if you want to feel like you're on a little ride, it's just very fun. That first one, the first one is the only one I saw, and I laughed so hard through the whole thing. It's so funny. Oh, when the girl's yelling at everybody and then she gets hit by the bus, they had to pause the movie. Because I was laughing so hard. The projection is stop the film. Um, yeah, it's, uh, it is really, I was really surprised by how, uh, entertained I was by it because I do, I do hate the, it's just like the opening segment of every episode of six feet under somebody would die. And I hated that part of the show. Like it was interesting to see how they would kill somebody every episode.
Starting point is 00:14:54 But it was also, they do just like in these, uh, Final Destination movies where you know that something bad's about to happen, but they do in this, you know, Rube Goldberg kind of like a bunch of things happen until finally the thing you least expect, but that is also a violent and kills the person, uh, happens. That shit, I, it really, I really cringe during it, but also
Starting point is 00:15:15 especially with this last one, bloodlines, I think they did a really good job with it. Yeah, I feel like they played with the tension in a way that was like comedic without doing the horror genre a disservice. Like, it didn't feel like it didn't belong in the franchise, which,
Starting point is 00:15:32 spotty. It's a spotty franchise. It's not hard to have a knockout in it, but it's really a knockout, in my humble opinion. Especially compared to the others, but yeah, also just the production design, like that so much of the beginning of the movie takes place and it's really cool if the Space Needle was a cool restaurant bar. Yeah. In what was it supposed to be, the 50s or 60s? Yeah, I really liked it. Yeah, they did a good work on that one. How long ago did that come out? Was that last year? Yeah, I want to say it was like last summer.
Starting point is 00:16:05 Yeah, yeah. But still worth checking out. And it's good for this month. So as I look at all of your recommendations, I thank you for them. I probably won't be seeing any of them, at least not right away. But maybe again someday because they're all classics in one way or another. And we're going to take a break right now. We get back.

Starting point is 00:20:04 We're back, a dinosaur's story. Our first game today is something that I call. Count me if you can. This is an insanely impossible game that is really fun when someone manages to get one of the answers. Right. I will, because it's just, it's a guessing game, but it's an educated guessing game.
Starting point is 00:20:32 I will name a movie. And then the three of you will take turns guessing how many credited performers are listed at the end of the movie in the end titles. So it doesn't count uncredited performances that IMDB likes to point out whenever possible. So we'll start with Chris. If he gets in this first one, if he doesn't guess the number correctly, then we'll go to the number correctly. then we'll go to Samantha and then Padgett if nobody gets it nobody gets a point
Starting point is 00:21:07 we'll play three rounds and we'll see if we need a tiebreaker. Probably won't. It's impossible. It's not impossible. You just wait and see. Okay. All right. And we're listening for typing.
Starting point is 00:21:27 The movie is Halloween, the original. from back in the 80s. How many credited performers, actors do you think were in that movie, Chris? 34. Incorrect, but fast,
Starting point is 00:21:45 efficient. I just went with a vibe. Samantha? 56. Whoa. Jeez. Also incorrect. Padgett?
Starting point is 00:22:01 I'm going to say, I'm going to say 12. Oh, seems like it should be about 12, right? Because it's like Lori Strode and her friends and the shape and some characters in the flashback scene. But that is clearly not correct. No, it's 20 people. Oh. 20 credited actors in Halloween. but hopefully that number
Starting point is 00:22:33 will help educate and elucidate for this next round starting with Chris from a couple of years later Halloween 2 so the original Halloween had 20 what do you think
Starting point is 00:22:51 what do you think that you came up with for Halloween 2 in terms of the number of credited actors I'm going to go with 34 again oh this is a fun strategy yeah yeah let the answer
Starting point is 00:23:07 let the right answer come to me number yeah it's like starting with the same word every day and word'll someday that's going to be the right answer you're going to get it right immediately it was like
Starting point is 00:23:18 it was gambling it was not it's not 34 Samantha um what if I just said like a thousand um I'm going to say
Starting point is 00:23:31 17. 17 is also not the number. They didn't fire three people. Well, they might have killed them. It's a whole movie. Yeah, those could have been the people who died in the first one. Yeah. Okay, Padgett.
Starting point is 00:23:50 I'm going to say 24. 24 is also incorrect. Damn it. But fun little side note that I can't even picture him in it. it's been so long since I've seen it. But Dana Carvey is in Halloween 2. What? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:09 He acted in a few things before S&L. Huh. You know, like he was in a movie called Tough Guys with Burton Lancaster and Kirk Douglas. He was like their handler. There were a couple of old-timey pains in the asses. Wow. And he was like their nephew or some shit. But I don't know what he did.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Halloween, too, he's like, credited his assistant to somebody. So most of that movie takes place at a hospital. So maybe he's an assistant to a doctor or something. But anyway, 38 people. They practically doubled the cast. For the success of Halloween, they went ape shit. And had 38 people.
Starting point is 00:24:54 But I'm feeling good about this next one. I feel like one of you is going to nail this. Chris, the movie is Halloween 3, season of the witch. This is the movie where they went rogue and decided that these movies did not need to be about Michael Myers. It's a whole different story. Yeah, it's a whole different story. And there's a creepy theme song that plays on the TV. That's a real earworm if you've ever heard it.
Starting point is 00:25:24 but how many people would you guess are in this third Halloween movie? Well, just a season of witches alone. That's way over 34. It's season of the witch. Season of no witch? They make it clear that it's just a witch. Or no, now that you bring it up saying season of the witch means just could mean witches in general. Yes.
Starting point is 00:25:52 It probably does. And obviously I've seen zero of these movies. So this is all just a vibe. Yeah, we picked a bad month for you to be on. If you don't know anything about horror movies. Yeah, when's action thriller month? The rest of the year. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:26:16 Yeah, well, maybe except for Christmas time. I'm going to go. It's the third one. Mm-hmm. I'm going to go 58 Whoa Like they just were really out of control
Starting point is 00:26:30 We got to make each one The way to make these movies bigger and better Is to have more people in them But that is also Cocaine It would be so funny If the answer was 34 And that's when you decide to switch
Starting point is 00:26:46 I kind of was hoping 58 That's incorrect Samantha 34 I wanted to do that you just have to get the right answer okay
Starting point is 00:27:01 all right just I'm telepathically telling you okay okay okay I think I think they pulled back on casting I'm going to say
Starting point is 00:27:16 24 oh my goodness it's 25 people. Damn it! Why can't this be more like Price is right? Why can't we pick the closest without going over? It's funny.
Starting point is 00:27:30 You should say that, Paget. Yeah, because it's a good idea. It's like you're in my head when I came up with this. Because to break the tie, since nobody got any points, we have a three-way time. So I am going to do a round where the closest to the correct answer without going over will be our winner of this game. But I do want to mention before we move on, that season of which, of course, Jamie Lee Curtis was not in it on camera because her character from the first two movies does not appear, but they still slipped her in there as voices and uncredited voices in the movie,
Starting point is 00:28:08 someone that's a curfew announcer and then also a telephone operator. I want the job of curfew announcer. Hi, everybody, go home. Yeah, ladies and gentlemen. The curfew has begun. I guess maybe that at a curfew because there was, you know, so many witches running around. Because all the witches. Yeah, they're like, everybody but a witch go home.
Starting point is 00:28:33 And that's how you catch the witches. They're still out. Okay. So we'll go Chris and then Samantha and Padgett like we have been doing. But each of you get your own guests. And the closest without going over is going to win this game. Padgett, what movie do you think I picked for the tiebreaker? I think you picked Halloween 4.
Starting point is 00:28:57 Nope. I went with Friday the 13th. I love you. Chris, how many people do you think were in the original Friday the 13th at camp, whatever it was called? 34. Oh. I love how you stick to your guns with your 30s. for Samantha 23
Starting point is 00:29:24 23 yeah I'm going to go with 23 it's a camp so you know there's like a lot of people generally but also it's pretty low budget so I'm going 23 okay Michael Jordan uh
Starting point is 00:29:41 page it I'm going to go with 26 no that's how you play I'm so sorry I would She won't $1.
Starting point is 00:29:56 I'm sorry. I know you It's true Paget did ask for Price's right style which means closest without going over. She assassinated me
Starting point is 00:30:07 with their own rules. But this is what happens on Price's Right when everybody bids over. Over? Everybody bid over. Everybody bids again.
Starting point is 00:30:19 Starting with Chris, What was the lowest bid? 23. It's 23. So it's lower than 23, Chris. What's your due bid? 16. Samantha.
Starting point is 00:30:34 I can't do it. Do it. Do it. You can't do it. Do it. Do it. 18. Okay.
Starting point is 00:30:48 Padjit. 12. Ooh. Say it. How many did you say, Samantha? 18. It's 20. You win.
Starting point is 00:31:04 Oh, shit. Oh, no. So you were so close. That you would have gone up a higher page. No. You could have got this right on the money. If you had yes and did and screwed me over for the bit, you would have won. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:21 I really thought I really thought I was winning. I really thought it was below. Well, that's, you know, that's what actually happens on the prices right. People have some sneaky bets. Sometimes you gamble in the wrong direction. But Samantha was closest to both times. So she deserves the win. She deserves the win just for a showdown.
Starting point is 00:31:43 For sure. Thank you so long. I'll see you in the Showcase Showdown. Yeah, congratulations, Samantha. You know the drill. really win much. You just get to go first in our big finishing game in which I hope that Chris has more opportunity
Starting point is 00:32:06 to, because it's not entirely about horror films, but I'll get into it when we get back. We'll be right back. We're back, ADS. So like I said, Samantha only won the opportunity to go first. in our final game, and it's a game that I call, Rame on me. Say it again?
Starting point is 00:32:36 Rame. You know that word that doesn't exist. Rame. Okay. Like Sam. Sam Raming is a great for director, but also the director of other types of films. I wrote down,
Starting point is 00:32:55 the top 10 best-reviewed Sam Bramey movies according to Rotten Tomatoes. Okay. So the three of you will take turns, starting with Samantha, then Chris, then Padgett. You will guess movies made by Sam Ramey. And if your movie's number one on the list, if it's the best reviewed on Rotten Tomatoes, it will earn you 10 points. if it's number 10, you get one point, then there's all those points in between,
Starting point is 00:33:29 plus no points for anything, 11 through 16. He has made 16 films. These aren't things that he has a producer credit on. These are all directed by Sam Ramey. It's a lot. Yeah, and I'll give you the rain. Just for the love of the game. The top rated one is 93%.
Starting point is 00:33:54 But I'd say, you know, at least 10 of the movies are certified, 12 of the movies are certified fresh, 12, 1916. No, Sam. Not bad. Yeah. I like his work a lot. All right. So we'll start with you, Samantha. What's your first guess of what you think would be the best reviewed Sam Ramey movie?
Starting point is 00:34:20 Spider-Man 2 is number one. on the list. Nice. Yes. Nailed it. 93% on R.T. For, yeah, just everyone goes around talking about how anytime there's a trilogy, there's exceptions, obviously, but part two can tend to be the weakest.
Starting point is 00:34:49 Yeah. I mean, Godfather, too, obviously, that one's considered better. and then there's one other one that flashed into my brain that like everybody loves the second one. Second top gun is better than the first one. Whoa. The remake. No, No,
Starting point is 00:35:06 Maverick is better. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that is Top Gun too, I guess. Yeah. Yeah, they didn't reboot it. They just brought in some young boots. They brought in some new young boots. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:18 Who, like, that guy, he's like five of six years younger than Tom Cruise, I think. anyway maybe more than that all right so Chris leaves a lot of movies 15 Sam Ramey movies which one you think is number two
Starting point is 00:35:36 Casablanca No okay so Just just from the from context of what the first answer was Yeah yeah I would think you'd have a better guess
Starting point is 00:35:52 then I'm going I'm so lost right now I'm just going for the funny at this point all right but in his top 10 is Spider-Man
Starting point is 00:36:06 number two all right so what else do you think would be on this list Spider-Man 3 Spider-Man 3 is number 11 on the list
Starting point is 00:36:20 so you get no boys After so much cajoling him toward the... I cajoled towards... I was hoping for a different payoff. Three has the best memes. He's an adult who could make his own decisions, and he chose Spider-Man 3,
Starting point is 00:36:40 which was kind of wildly considered to be a deep falloff from the previous two, because at one point, uh, Spider-Man goes into a beat club and starts, acting like a beatnik and it does a little dance. That's great.
Starting point is 00:36:58 I like it. I love it, but people hated it. People who are so mad at it. All right, fuck them for trying something different in a dumb superhero movie. Yeah. All right, Padgett. What do you got?
Starting point is 00:37:16 Are you a Ramie fan? I mean, I can name two. That's all. Well, you know, you might think of more as we go along, but give us with your best one. Do I say what I know is my top-rated? I mean, if you like it that much, maybe the critics did too. Then I'm going to say Army of Darkness. Army of Darkness.
Starting point is 00:37:46 Also a part of a trilogy, the third part of the Evil Dead trilogy, comes in. At number 10 on the list. One point. With 68% certified fresh, but Padgett, you are on the board. Thank you. That could be, that could come in handy later. Later, but let's see how much distance Samantha can get from herself and the other players today. What's your second guess?
Starting point is 00:38:18 Spider-Man 1 Oh, you mean what I was trying to get Chris to say? Yes. I thought Chris was doing a bit. I'm at this point I am. Yeah. Yeah. But you worked out great for me.
Starting point is 00:38:42 It's always a funny twist when I lure somebody into the wrong answer. But Spider-Man. And, Uno, as we, you know, call it now. It was just Spider-Man at the time. That is number five on the list. So that is worth six more points for Amanda. But this is still, you could still catch up, Chris and Padgett. Anything come to mind, Chris, for your second guess?
Starting point is 00:39:16 was there a bat girl movie have they made that yet a bat girl directed by Sam Ramey yes like sort of a spin out of the Spider-Man yeah yeah I was trying to keep it in that same keep it in that family yeah
Starting point is 00:39:41 yeah I'm afraid to say Do you know that SNL sketch where Chris Farley goes on the Japanese game show and he gets electrocuted at the end? Do you remember that? That sounds familiar. I do, yes. That's how I feel right now. You're saying a bunch of words that I don't know.
Starting point is 00:40:02 And then you're like, what's your answer? And I'm like, I'm going to get shocked again. You know that sketch where Chris Farley is trying to interview Paul McCartney, but he's so in awe that he can't. Yeah. That's how I feel with the three of you. But no, I'm sorry. I don't even know if there is a movie called Bad Girl, but if there is, it was not directed by Sam Ramey or on this list.
Starting point is 00:40:35 Okay. We're back to Paget. Oh, okay. Maybe you've learned something. No, I have. I should have said Spider-Man. I learned that. Right.
Starting point is 00:40:45 Um, uh, I'm going to say evil dead two, which I preferred to the first one. Uh, right. The remake. Uh, yeah. That was essentially a remake, but like, yeah, it's more, it's definitely a more fun and has cooler. Yeah. It's fantastic. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:01 It's kind of like people even, don't even really, uh, go back to the first. To evil dead one. Yeah. To the first. Yeah. Cause it's almost like that was like a sizzle. It's almost like that was a sizzle reel to get funding to make evil dead too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:16 Yeah. That's a, that's legit. And Evil Dead 2 is number six on the list. Oh, still can't beat her. Huh. I'm running, uh. Good. It's not looking good.
Starting point is 00:41:32 I'm starting to run empty on Ramey, though. What's that? Starting to run empty on Ramey. I only have one more in the, I only have like one more in the satchel. Do it. I want to know what it is. Just say, at least I wasn't the, one who started on empty.
Starting point is 00:41:49 I'm just as God made me, Doug. What's your next guest, Samantha? This is, you know, putting the final nail in the coffin. Drag Me to Hell? Drag Me to Hell. It's like you were blessed to do well in this game. Drag Me to Hell is tied for, number two on the list.
Starting point is 00:42:17 It's a great movie. Also a great October watch. It's worth eight points. That gives you a total of 24 points. Which means that you're our winner today and I would like you to do two things before. I still want Chris and
Starting point is 00:42:33 Padgett to have their final guesses just for fun. But I especially know Chris is going to find it to be a lot of fun. But first Samantha, you win the honor of choosing who I call a shithead at the end of the show today.
Starting point is 00:42:53 Oh! Just tell me who you think is a shithead. Okay. All right, I'll think about it. Oh, okay. You don't want to tell me now? Oh, well, you know what? John Federman's a shithead.
Starting point is 00:43:07 Oh, that's a good one. You keep it local. I like that about you. I keep it local. Yeah. Yeah, that's the... Pennsylvania. He's a Pennsylvania problem, but also bad for the world.
Starting point is 00:43:19 Okay. Yes. What would you like to plug Samantha Ruddy? Just my December 6th show at Claude's Comedy Club in Philadelphia. Awesome. Everybody. Everybody go to Claude. It's like you don't hear, I guess maybe, is it, do you think maybe we're saying it wrong?
Starting point is 00:43:40 Is it Cloud? No, I don't think so. some reason in Samantha's microphone, it sounds like she's saying quads, like what you would work out. Oh. Quad day. But it's clawed like the AI name, right? Yeah, the first time I thought, I thought she was saying claw. Oh, that's an interesting name for a comedy club.
Starting point is 00:44:04 Like a claw reaches, grabs people off the street, makes them watch comedy. I think I'm just in the Pennsylvania mountains and have a horrible accent and I can't quite pronounce it. I thought you said. But I think you only hear of the Claude these days if it's got the fancy cloud. You know what I mean? Like a French restaurant. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I think that Claude has just turned into C-L-O-D when you hear it.
Starting point is 00:44:33 It just sounds like, you know, Claude just sounds like a, you know, clump of mud or something. Yeah, it's a name that certainly fell out of favor after 1940, right? Yeah. Oh, for sure. Claude Raines is the only Claude I can think of. Mm-hmm. Speaking of Casa Blanca.
Starting point is 00:44:52 Yeah, you're right. Yeah. See, it was foreshadowing. Yeah. Well, I asked you about San Juan, and you drew a Costa Blanca. Or Blanca, if you prefer. That was perfect.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Do you have a third guest, Chris? Uh. And they did make a Casablanca. a two, I should say. What was Samantha's last guess? Drag me to hell. Drag me to hell. Drag me back to hell.
Starting point is 00:45:30 Drag me back to hell is a great idea. That's a great movie. That is the most disgusting PG-13 movie ever made. Yes. It's got every bodily fluid off flying in people's faces. I don't remember it. I need to, I wrote it down because I don't know if I've, it's got a fun twist ending too.
Starting point is 00:45:49 Okay. Yeah. I wrote it down. I'd like to see it. I don't know if I've seen it. It's probably in the Criterion Collection. Oh, yeah. I think it is.
Starting point is 00:45:56 It's really good. Like it's 92, it's 92%. 92%. Wow. Yeah. So it's pretty good. But they did not make a drag me back to hell as much as I would like to see that happen, Chris. So congratulations.
Starting point is 00:46:13 in this game, it always impresses me when someone goes three for three. Loss. You're welcome. I like to make my mark. You were so close with Spider-Man 3. Padgett, did you think of one more? Well, here's my problem. I thought of, I mean, obviously there's Evil Dead, which I don't think is on that list.
Starting point is 00:46:37 Here's where I'm getting confused. Did he do a Western with Sharon Stone, called The Quick and the Dead? This cast was so stacked. Sharon's own, Gene Hackman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:54 Isn't it terrible? It's like not good, right? Well, it's very Sam Ramey. It's very cartoony. But the actors all actually treat it very serious. Yeah. And I'm a fan of it.
Starting point is 00:47:09 It's got some classic, like, you know, there's just a series of shootouts. It's basically about a shootout competition. And so over several days' time, they meet in the middle of the day and try to shoot each other. And in Gene Hackman's like the bad guy, but they're all people that are there to shoot each other. And, but it's just got each shootout that he has to do something different with the camera work. Like it's really, it's really. Inside the revolver.
Starting point is 00:47:36 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I liked it. I liked that movie. Yeah. And it's got the. Ampy, but I liked it. Yeah, it's got one of the classic, you know, looking through the hole in a person. Oh, that's right. Yeah, yeah. I won't give it away. Even though it's been around for a long time, I don't want to spoil it for anybody.
Starting point is 00:47:57 But is that your guess, the Quick and the Dead? That's my guess. But I still want to ask you about another movie that I can't remember the name of. But how did I do on that? Quick in the Dead. Number four, two, three. Number 12. Oh, boo.
Starting point is 00:48:12 Yeah, it fell out of the top 10 there. But just remembering that that was a Sam Ramey is impressive. Hey, thanks, Doug. Well, you tell me what. What was this other thing you wanted to ask? Well, what's the name of the movie that his brother starred in who played a serial killer who makes a suit out of a woman? And he walks around in like Ed Gein, he walks around in the woman's suit. That's real?
Starting point is 00:48:41 It's a real movie. Starring Ted Ramey? Starring Ted Ramey. Yeah. I'll look it up when we're done. But I remember that being very arresting. Like, very effective. I don't know what that is or who made it.
Starting point is 00:48:57 Sam Ramey directed it. Oh, maybe Sam Ramey didn't direct it. And Ted Ramey just starred in it. Or maybe. Is there a chance? Is it called Crime Wife? I don't remember the name at all. Yeah, because they did a movie early on, Sam did a movie early on called Crime Wave that I feel like it's the only Sam Ramey I haven't seen.
Starting point is 00:49:19 So maybe that's it. Because it seems like a bit of a crime wave that he's walking around somebody's skin. Yeah, and the skin is like starting to rot. And I think he like installs a zipper. I mean, there just were things about it that were really so memorable that I, that I, Except for the title, I suppose. You should, can you look it up right now? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:45 Okay. Oh, we're done playing. So it's not like I could cheat on anything. No, it's not. And you could have cheated anyway. Well. You can be typing away and say, I don't like to. Okay.
Starting point is 00:49:59 How have people start saying other? What's it called? Ted Ramey? Like, if you just type into Google, starring Ted Ramey. Oh, yeah, you're right. I guess you're right. Okay. Oh my god, should I really do that starring Ted Ramey and just see what he was very good guy.
Starting point is 00:50:15 Okay. He was very good in this starring Ted Ramey. That's all I typed in most of Sam's movies. Tim O'Neill and Sequest, Ted Henry. Oh, no, he was in a bunch of. Yeah, he was in a bunch with his brother, Ash versus Evil Dead. Sequest, Zena Warrior Princess, Hercules. he played
Starting point is 00:50:39 probably too many to read out loud yeah evil dead too oh sorry you know what okay it might could it be dark man or shocker maybe it is crime wave because it's definitely a long time ago yeah let's see what crime is it's not shocker
Starting point is 00:50:56 shocker when I was a kid shocker was a big guy that was like on death row and the electricity just made him stronger no he became a piece of energy that would transfer from one person of the other. Oh, okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:09 And then, and then Darkman was a superhero movie. It's with Liam Neeson. Yeah, yeah. He gets disfigured and so he puts on a mask and then he goes out and, uh, you know, I think he like fights,
Starting point is 00:51:23 he has issues with the mafia. Um, it's not the grudge. But anyway, so I'm guessing it's crime wave. That's, that's my final answer. But, 1885 comedy,
Starting point is 00:51:35 directed by Sam Ramey. This is Crime Wave? This is Crime Wave. Bruce Campbell's in it. Slapstick mix of film noir, black comedy, hitchcocky, and suspense. Yeah, that's not it. That's not it. Ted Ramey, producer Ryan, is suggesting maybe it's a movie called Skinner.
Starting point is 00:51:52 Yes. Skinner! Yeah, it says what he does. They don't even put that in his Wikipedia page. Whoa. All right. Here are the rest of the answers for anybody dying to know. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:52:06 coming in number 16, his most poorly reviewed film with 47% of the critics, which is still almost half, but nonetheless, not fresh for the love of the game. Is it about baseball? Did you say that movie as soon as I said Sam Rainey at the beginning? No. I swear you said something like that. What is it? I said I was here for the love of the game. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:33 Oh, you confused, Doug. So, yeah. Yeah, that's his baseball movie that wasn't terribly well received. Like, was it Costner? I think it was Costner. Anyway, number 15 was his take on the whole Wicked and Oz business Oz the Great and Powerful with... Wild. With what's his name from Scrubs was a talking monkey.
Starting point is 00:53:01 And then 14 is The Gift. A thriller that I think was a Hillary Swank has psychic powers and the whole town like Keanu Reeves wants to murder her because he's, you know, he knows that her powers are, you know, from the devil. 13 is crime wave and that's a, that now I'm understanding is a comedy that starred their friend Bruce Campbell that they, that Sam made before the Evil Dead movies. then we had Quick in the Dead, Spider-Man 3, Army of Darkness. Number 9 was his entry in the Marvel of French movies, Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, starring Cumber Snatch. Oh, that guy, that guy. Yeah, that guy.
Starting point is 00:53:54 I forgot he did a Marvel. Yeah, and also everybody forgot that he did. Darkman was number eight on the list. And then seven. This was also funny to me that we were talking around Evil Dead 2, and nobody just said the Evil Dead, the prior, the previous film. That's number seven on the list. And then Evil Dead 2, Spider-Man 1.
Starting point is 00:54:17 And then this one, people forget it's the Sam Ramey, but it's a really solid thriller that starred Billy Bob Thornton and Bill Paxton called A Simple Plan. Oh, my God. Also written by the Cohen brothers. Oh, boy. I thought they directed that. thought, you know, one of them directs?
Starting point is 00:54:33 Yeah. I didn't know Sam Ramey directed that. Yeah. Yeah, he did. Those guys, too like that. They probably were, it definitely had their similar vibe to like Fargo. Blood simple. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:48 And then tied for second with drag me to hell, Sam Ramey's most recent hit motion picture, send help. Wow. Wow. Yeah, which is also, I thought, was very good. What is that about? I haven't seen it. That's the,
Starting point is 00:55:04 it's about me in this game. Rachel McAdams and I can't think of it. Oh, the plane crash. I expanded on an island, yeah. Shit, I liked that a lot. Again, didn't know it was Sam Ramey. Dylan O'Brien. They're both very good in it.
Starting point is 00:55:23 Oh, that was really good. I recommend you watch it without learning more about it. And it's not, it's not horror, but there are some, you know, there's some dicey. scary parts. Really good, yeah. All right. So again, congratulations to Samantha.
Starting point is 00:55:41 Thank you. Let's get plugs from everybody else. Chris Porter, your special is available now. Amazon and elsewhere. And it's called Middle Rage. Yes, and I have shows this weekend, Springfield and Boston, Massachusetts. And next weekend at the Improval. Providence, Milwaukee.
Starting point is 00:56:03 Nice. Thank you for being here today. Thanks for having me. Padgett. Yeah. What about Thrilling Adventure Hour? Yeah, we're doing, we're doing a show. The Thrilling Adventure Hour is doing two shows at Dynasty Typewriter this Saturday,
Starting point is 00:56:22 the 10th, I think a 7 o'clock show and a 930 show. Also, if anyone is available or in Los Angeles, if you would like to, buy a ticket to help raise funds for Alex's Lemonade. LA loves Alex's Lemonade. It's Saturday the 17th at UCLA from 12 to 4. All the money goes to help support families with kids who have cancer, and it's every chef you've ever heard of or seen in a cooking competition, giving out food.
Starting point is 00:56:55 Once you get in there, everything's free. And it's just a great organization, and it's a lot of fun. And I think everyone in the cast of criminal minds is going to be there. Wow. So, and celebrities from other shows? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. And it's day drinking.
Starting point is 00:57:14 What do you think the ticket is to get in there, like $4,700? I don't know. Yeah, I bet it's steep. I know what it is to buy a table, and I can't afford that. But other friends of mine can and have. So I sit at their table. I don't actually know what the, because we all get invited because we sit at our friend's table.
Starting point is 00:57:39 Yeah. You know what I mean? I see. I don't know. But a lot of people are there. We saw Patton and Meredith last year and it's like nice people. It sounds great. And it's the thrilling Adventure Hour.
Starting point is 00:57:54 Do they also stream it or is it just a live? Oh, yeah, it's streaming too. I just don't know. I don't know how to get it. If you go on. Well, if you... Padget, Padgett Graham. I think there might be information about it there.
Starting point is 00:58:05 Or just go to Dynasty Typewriter.com. Oh, great. Yeah, and that'll tell you how you can get streaming. Doug, you're so good. You're like my handler. I should... Can I hire you part-time? I'll happily stand behind you with a purse with your lipstick in it.
Starting point is 00:58:21 No. I mean, get me through the airport. I mean, help me pitch things I'm doing. Oh, okay. You're so good. Thank you. Oh, my purse. I've got some things to plug.
Starting point is 00:58:36 I'm going to be at the West River Comedy Club in Rapid City, South Dakota on October 16th and 17th. And we're going to be at the Comedy Fort in Fort Collins. I finally put that together. That's the Comedy Fort, and it's in Fort Collins. I always just thought Comedy Fort was a cute, a cute name. And I always like to say that I'm excited to play that. with the tensions going on in the world right now. I just feel much safer being in a fort rather than a club.
Starting point is 00:59:08 And I'll be there on all Hallows Eve. I'll be there October 30th and 31st, which is always a crapshoot. Nice. Doing shows on Halloween, like a lot of people have other plans. But I'm still going to give it a go. And thank you again to my guests today, Chris Porter, Samantha Reddy and Paget Brewster. Samantha, we'll hit you up to come back real soon and defend your title.
Starting point is 00:59:36 Fair way. But as always, John Fetterman is a shithead. Now it's time for Doug to watch another talkie. Eyes of Gold is viewing prowess makes him cocky. There's no room in his heart for you because Doug.
