He's like Train with Denzel on it. He's unstoppable It's Mark Ellis hey Mark or I'm like the the wrestler from Arizona State that new movie coming out called unstoppable on Amazon Prime yeah yeah just call anything unstoppable that seems I I don't have the numbers Doug of how many times I've won but I'm just trying to do my best to keep up with my beloved
Starting point is 00:02:47 Washington commanders who just won our seventh straight including a huge win on the road Divisional playoff game in the Lions then at Detroit. I'm still high off that so whatever happens I'm gonna leave this game with a smile on my face and a song in my heart happens I'm gonna leave this game with a smile on my face and a song in my heart you're so happy to be just completely crushing the dreams of Lions fans who have waited so many years I feel bad for something to happen Super Bowl wise but it's just not they're not there yet still I mean and like as bad as my franchise was for 30 years and it was bad under the worst owner in professional sports history I still had like the memories of like, you know remembering Super Bowls when I was a little kid and Lions fans
Starting point is 00:03:30 Don't have that like they last were like good in the 50s And so it's tough for them, but I just can't at the expense of my own team. Sorry everybody else take a backseat All right, well I was referring to the you know, the competition to today on this show and you made it about your precious football So I'm just gonna say one more thing about you mark and that's You're like Mark Wahlberg on the gridiron you're invincible Well, I'll take the compliment unless we end up having to play the Eagles next week because he plays for the Eagles not boby And I'd really like you know what if if Mark Wahlberg is starting for the Eagles next week. I like our chances Third guest today is a new favorite on the show and his name is
Starting point is 00:04:24 Patrick hot more. Hey Patrick. doug. How are you? I'm pretty good. Um Just looking at your name i've been looking at things today, um Does anybody ever ever call you patty like p-a-t-t-y? Uh, yeah, that was more I feel like high school. A lot of people did. But I don't know if it's been a recent thing. My friend Nikki, that's who pops to mind immediately. Because I'm thinking that you should change your last name to.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Oh, sure. Oh, sure. Oh, by Patio. Patio Pitz is pretty good. I thought you were going to say Patio. Kottner, I thought was what you were going to go for. But Patio Pitz is better. I It's a Frankenstein in your name. I like it. I can't pitch a small business patio pit.
Starting point is 00:05:11 It's where you go for all your grilling needs, all your. Oh, yeah. And this is this is a great idea that Patrick and Chad can share. Yeah. Yeah. Chad, you develop your corned beef. Chad, do we need to get married? Is that what's going on here? I think that's what he's trying to set up.
Starting point is 00:05:27 All right. It sounds like a good idea. Yeah, I think so. For that last name factor. If you're willing to take, I'm willing to take Cottonuar because it makes me think of Lauren Bacall just relaxing on a delightful cot. Oh sure. Yeah, I'll take O'Pitts. We can just, we can get married and swap names.
Starting point is 00:05:43 I think that's totally fine. That's great. Patrick, I'll take opits. We can just we can get married and swap names. I think that's totally fine. That's great. And also that would create an alliteration for both of us. Mm hmm. I am a wedding officiant. If you guys need me to knock this out today. OK. OK.
Starting point is 00:05:57 But now I see how his master plan was. Do you think we can get through an episode of this show, Mark, without you bringing up to your wedding officiant? Like it's sort of. We can get through an episode of this show mark without you bringing up to your wedding officiant like How long did it take you to Become an officiant dude. It's hilarious. I Went on there and I was like ready I was like prepared to like study and become a man of the clock and you literally go to the landing page you hit a button
Starting point is 00:06:24 The next page is like congratulations you're a wedding officiant and so it really isn't the legwork I thought it would be. Yeah it's uh I guess it's uh it's pretty easy so everybody's doing it's real trendy to be a wedding officiant uh or you know not even ever actually do one just tell everybody that you can if I'm good at it one needs to happen I've done many I come to play I've gotten compliments from getting DJs which is the highest compliment you can receive from any one good life nice and it's a it's a fun little side gig mark we're in you don't need to sell us on it We've already agreed I'm just so happy that you've been able to impress some wedding DJs. Yeah
Starting point is 00:07:11 You know, they really are a hard group to crack Set your goals low kids and you're never gonna be disappointed Well before we play some games today we must pay tribute to a legend that we lost this week We all know who I'm talking about the great Bob Euker What's your favorite Bob Euker movie mark Oh, I mean my favorite movies obviously major league but he was so good in Mr. Belvedere and since he passed and I like I knew he was good on The Tonight Show
Starting point is 00:07:52 and Johnny loved him. I didn't realize he did like 60 plus tonight show spots. And so they're all on YouTube and I've just been going down to rabbit hole. He kills every time he's on the couch. And apparently Johnny had said that Euker and Rodney Dangerfield are basically interchangeable just get them on the couch and they're gonna crush it So it highly encourage anybody to take an hour or so and just treat yourself Well, thank you for asking my answer my instance here question You know I'm not answering my insincere question. Um, you know, I was just,
Starting point is 00:08:25 you know, I was just joking at the dude's expense, but, uh, but yeah. But also when I say what's your favorite movie, it's, it's essentially narrowed down to, is he in all, there's three major league movies. Mm hmm. I think he, he's in the first two. I don't know about major league back to the minors. According to IMDB,DB he is I just checked All right, well All right, Pete to Bob Euker who who was I actually met him a few times and You know didn't really get close to him in any way because you know, I
Starting point is 00:09:04 Did and do not know anything about baseball so I nothing to talk to about really but Super nice though very very very friendly charming individual, but What I was leaning into is the loss of a great filmmaker and and human being That we had this week. And that's of course, David Lynch. So for recommendation nation this week, I thought we would pick our favorite David Lynch movies. We'll start with you, Chad.
Starting point is 00:09:40 Ooh, what's your favorite David Lynch movie? If I have to pick one, I'm going with Eraserhead just because I don't think there's any other movie like it. And I just remember how vividly I, you know, how, like how I felt when I first watched it, I was just like, well, that is the most I've felt like I've just been watching someone's dream on film before. And it was great. And I just never forgot it.
Starting point is 00:10:12 And it sort of set the standard for David Lynch that like, even though his movies became more mainstream and less the the is supposed to be happening and how am I supposed to be reacting to it? And I think that was part of David Lynch's thing is to just not explain it, just put it out there and let people do, you know, think what they want about it. Mark, do you have a favorite David Lynch movie? It's actually Major League as well for James. So good as Wilde. I was afraid of that. No, I actually it's one that like I saw wild at heart when I was probably too young to see it. And so that had a big impact on me.
Starting point is 00:11:39 But last year I had the pleasure of introducing his Dune 1984 at like a big film festival and it was just awesome. And like to, I had seen bits and pieces, but it was just such a fun trip to take watching on the big screen. So, you know, I think what he did with Dune was really different and out there and took a lot of the swings. I don't think they all connected, but it was really fun to watch that back. So from the guy who almost directed Return of the Jedi, I'll say, uh, Dune. Yeah, that's a controversial pick you have there, Mark. For sure.
Starting point is 00:12:21 Especially cause you know, now there's these these this new series of Dune movies and TV show where There's usually a real appreciation for for it. It wasn't there for David Lynch's because you know people people love the the Dune books so much that I remember at the time that David Lynch's version kind of bummed people out. But I loved it because I was like totally, you know, drinking the David Lynch Kool-Aid in that. I just like had pretty much decided that he was cool and that, you know, if he made it,
Starting point is 00:12:59 it was worthwhile. So I saw Dune in the theater so many times I can't believe it that I sat through that thing in the theater repeatedly. But Patrick, what's your favorite? I'm a big Fire Walk with Me guy. Twin Peaks is my thing. I like to love all of them somewhere in that spectrum, but Fire Walk with Me is like, it's the one I probably have seen the most. I have a poster in my living room for it. It's very dark. It's not a fun movie to watch. But it's, you know, I like the weird, surreal and dark Twin Peaks stuff the most out of any of it. And it's definitely the thing that I appreciate the most of his work. We went to, we did a George Lucas talk show in Seattle this year and Connor Ratliff,
Starting point is 00:13:54 who's been on the show before and I, we went to like all of the spots and we got a tour of Laura Palmer's house from the woman who owns it now. And they, it's insane They they film the movie there. They film the pilot there and they filmed season three there. The rest was a set. But like it's very haunting. And like you go in there and it truly feels like someone died in there. And the woman lives there with her daughter and her daughter stayed like lives in Laura's bedroom, which to me feels like a bad idea. And I would not do that. But it's it's what she wants. So but I recommend, you know, if you're in the area, you should go check it out because it's it's a really crazy experience to walk through all these places
Starting point is 00:14:35 that are on TV and like seared into your brain. You know, do you think that lady was like extra nice to you or just anybody who comes knocking around, give them a tour? a tour well Doug you you give her some money that's you sign up online for a tour and that's how it works she's season three she's one of the last things in season three she answers the door when coop and and and spoilers Laura go to the door and it's the woman and it's the woman. Will tour. I mean, it depends what your idea of affordable is. He has different levels. You can do you can do a level that's like a shorter tour, a longer tour,
Starting point is 00:15:15 or you can literally watch Fire Walk with me with her in the house. Which is in Lord. We did not do that. We did not do that. But we stayed with her for over two hours, I want to say. And she just like talked and show us literally every inch of the house. And it was it's one of my favorite things we've ever done. Crazy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:35 Because this is a weird coincidence. I took a tour of the elephant man's bones. But that is my pick is the elephant man because it's just such a it's such a good emotional movie but it still has enough of David Lynch's sort of creepy menace and you know same cinematographer that he used on most of his movies and another movie that people like to bring up that's just weird that David Lynch directed it is The Straight Story because it's basically like, you know, just watch it with the whole family. It's really not, doesn't have that weirdness or violence that permeates his movies. But that's my choice though still is the Elephant Man is my number one but I you know there's something to like about everything that he's done and thanks for talking about it about him and his movies here and we will be right back. Starting point is 00:18:39 Back to the show We are back. Gosh, you're only gone long enough for me to cough a little bit. Our first game today is something that I call for reasons I'm sure you'll all understand. Land of the Lynch. That's right. The tribute to David Lynch continues into the games I am going to name three characters from a David Lynch movie And then you have to tell me which one it is
Starting point is 00:19:15 We'll start with Chad I'll give you the three character names, and then I'll give you three David Lynch movie choices you guess if you miss then now mark hits a shot at it if mark misses Patrick would get the gimme point on that first one each time somebody gets one right the next person in line starts first on the next one first person to Two points will be our winner ready Chad yes, all right I Just liked it all three of you had an answer when I said name your favorite David Lynch movie because then This game could be a little awkward if somebody was like I don't have a favorite David Lynch movie I'm just just familiar with this
Starting point is 00:20:08 All right Chad Detective Dom guard detective McKnight and vacuum man are characters in vacuum man are characters in Blue Velvet Mulholland Drive or Twin Peaks fire walk with me
Starting point is 00:20:38 Okay Detective Dom guard detective McKnight Vac, vacuum man, vacuum man. My favorite Marvel superhero. Okay. And the choices are blue velvet, Mulholland drive or twin peaks fire. Walk with me, man. I'm going to say Mulholland drive. Man, I'm going to say mohawk and drive. Do you have a reason behind that particular choice? I am recalling somebody. I don't know if it's a man though.
Starting point is 00:21:13 I recall somebody with a vacuum in that movie. I can't remember if it's a man though. That's the one that popped in mind when you said vacuum. I mean, it's, you know, that seems like a fairly distinct thing and feels very David Lynch and Yes, you are correct. It is moholland drive Is the movie with those three characters in it? Detective McKnight is Robert Forster and
Starting point is 00:21:42 Detective Dom guards played by a character actor that you know if you see a picture of him you go oh yeah that guy bread briscoe course and I couldn't tell you who plays vacuum man because I don't I don't think he's I don't think he's they made any other film appearances all right, so Chad handled that first one. Let's see how mark does Make this next one Mark Renee Madison Alice Wakefield and
Starting point is 00:22:22 Someone called mystery man Are those characters from elephant man lost highway or wild at heart Okay, um I feel like there's a mystery man and every David Lynch movie but I It's true like the end credits could just say mystery man about any character that comes in and just says one thing Or shows up in a dream What were my what my options again their options are elephant man Lost Highway and wild at heart and the names again are Renee Madison Alice Wakefield and
Starting point is 00:23:08 Mystery Man Yeah, I'm just going with the movie. I think has the most characters, so I'm gonna go lost highway lost highway is your answer and Much like Chad in the first round without knowing the answer you still logically chose the correct answer It is it is lost highway the mystery man is very mysterious because it's a really creepy Robert Blake character in lost highway who just has that really you know scary stare and Renee Madison and Alice Wakefield are both played by two characters played by Patricia Arquette In Lost Highway so good job mark Your business card says
Starting point is 00:24:02 Is to guess and guess correctly. I love that your business card says, uh, Mark Ellis here to do a good job. Well, it says wedding efficient first and then, Oh yeah, of course. Bring that up again. It's so obvious that that's what you're doing with your life. It says, it says wedding efficient and major league super fan who came to play, but Patrick Patrick you get your first crack at this next one I feel like I stumbled into a den of David Lynch experts which of his movies I'll give you three choices after I say Rose Alvin and Lyle Are those characters from blue velvet eraser head or the straight story? Oh?
Starting point is 00:24:51 It's straight story the the main guy's name is Alvin right It sure is Sissy space ik is Rose and a good friend Harry Dean Stanton is Lyle in Straight story we've got a three-way tie you guys really had no problem figuring these out and I'm impressed and saddened at the same time So we're gonna have to go into a tiebreaker. And we're back to Chad.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Chad gets to go first. If Chad gets this right, he wins the game. If he doesn't, Mark has a chance. And if Mark doesn't, then Patrick is just being handed the win So good luck to everybody Chad which movie has Sailor Ripley Bobby Peru and Uncle pooch is it Blue velvet twin Peaks firewalk with me or wild at heart I actually do know this one that is wild at heart It is the easiest one because you know we had to have a tiebreaker that someone would get and that is correct Nicholas cages sailor Ripley
Starting point is 00:26:20 Willem Dafoe is the very unsettling Bobby Peru And I forget who plays uncle pooch Ripley Willem Dafoe is the very unsettling Bobby Peru and I forget who plays uncle pooch Was that Crispin Glover? No, but Crispin Glover is in it. Uncle pooch was What was his name his name's like Stanley or Harvey or something the dude who is also in One flew over the cuckoo's ass, but anyway Congratulations Chad you won that one, but I think I think you all won in
Starting point is 00:27:00 in our hearts in our our wild hearts and We'll be back To play one more game to determine a winner today in our special Tribute to the great David Lynch after these messages We are back and during the break we were discussing the legendary Sydney's assic is Chad figured out he's the one who plays uncle pooch in
Starting point is 00:27:27 Wild at heart So thank you for looking that up Chad and Patrick looked up something earlier we're really probably giving everybody the impression that you're just staring at your Computers and that's why you guys know all the answers, but if you're a fan of David Lynch You know there's like what? Maybe nine or ten feature films. There's not that many if that many And then oh boy if you're want to watch something interesting as sort of a tribute to David Lynch He made this short film
Starting point is 00:28:05 Where it's just him and a capuchin monkey What does Jack know I think it's calm and it's just him I watched it the other day and it's 17 minutes long And it's got like end credits or whatever. So that takes up a couple minutes, but it's still like end credits or whatever, so that takes up a couple minutes, but still, you know, a fairly elaborate thing where David Lynch not only wrote directed stars in it, but he also decorated the set. And I think he's also the voice of the monkey, because he still speaks in David Lynch cadence, but it doesn't sound exactly like him But he still speaks the same way so it's funny and they do that effect where you know, it's just a human mouth mm-hmm on the capuchin monkey and
Starting point is 00:28:57 But it's just Kind of hard-boiled detective talk. It's even confusing like you don't you don't really know what the hell they're talking about half the time and you just Back and forth between David Lynch and this monkey and it's just on Netflix. You can just watch it on Netflix Greated actor he was hilarious on Twin Peaks yeah, and Louie too and people loved his cameo as a good kind of a nutty director in Fableman's right? Oh, yeah Yeah, I'm bored
Starting point is 00:29:27 Yeah, I'm bored and he's great in what's the Harry Dean Stanton boogers? Luck? Yeah, lucky. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah Yeah, he's just hanging out at the bar. He's great. Yeah, he's great. Really good. He's great and everything He shows up in yeah, and he just does this he just does this David Lynch thing Which is like as a director that's I got the impression That's what he likes to get from actors is just just stand there and say the words and you know I'll tell you if I don't like what you're doing, but You know, he just casts what you know people that Fit the part then just let some do it and do their thing and then
Starting point is 00:30:06 Anyway Fit the part then just let some do it and do their thing and then Anyway so as we continue our tribute to David Lynch today. I thought a fun plug game to play with David Lynch movies would be a game called weird algorithm This is a game where I take advantage of the the the reset you can do, the revision you could do to looking at a cast list of any movie on IMDB is once you've clicked on it and they show you the regular list of cast members you can change it to reordering everybody
Starting point is 00:30:45 in terms of popularity. And it's, you know, popularity according to IMDB's weird algorithms. So I typed these movies into IMDB today, and then I wrote down the top three names in the cast And then I wrote down the top three names in the cast based on the popularity meter. So if you guess the number one person on the cast list, you get three points.
Starting point is 00:31:19 Number two is worth two points. Number three is worth one point. We're gonna do three films three rounds Each round a different person will get to go first you can share answers with the other people But I don't know how smart that is strategically because you do want to get the the most points ultimately Chad are you ready? The first film is the aforementioned I can say that every time
Starting point is 00:32:00 It's the elephant man And I'll tell you who the top two people are Billing wise you know at the film's release It was in the case of Elton as Anthony Hopkins and John Hart as doctor and patient and But now the question is is there anybody else in the cast that could have slipped in their popularity or where do you want to go with one of those two dudes? What do you think, Chad? I'm trying to think of the rest of the cast like who could be more well known than those two and I don't think that there are.
Starting point is 00:32:39 So I think I will go with number one, Anthony Hopkins. You're choosing Anthony Hopkins. And then each time I ask you guys to pick somebody, you have to lock in your answer. There's no take backs. So Chad says Anthony Hopkins is what he feels would be number one of the cast of Elephant Man by today's standard. Lock it in.
Starting point is 00:33:08 Locked in. Patrick. Feel like it's gotta be John Hurt. Cause there's other people in that movie, but I think those would probably still be the top two. Lock it in. You're going John Hurt? I'm going John Hurt.
Starting point is 00:33:22 Okay. Not John heard No Better's way Alone all right mark you've heard these two hash it out between Hopkins and hurt What are your thoughts? I mean I would go Hopkins simply because I can't think of anybody else other than those two in elephant man, so my Rosters a little limited here So I just go I'd go I'd go Tony
Starting point is 00:33:57 Anthony sir Anthony Hopkins. Yeah tone All right, well here's the here's the results we've got two Hopkins and one hurt and That's a reasonable way to describe the results because Coming in and number three is John hurt Wow So Patrick gets one point for that so you're on the board Patrick. Don't you worry? number two This is what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the Hurt Wow so Patrick gets one point for that so you're on the board Patrick Don't you worry? number two
Starting point is 00:34:29 This is where this game just has its interesting quirks and twists Number two is David Lynch Of course appears in Some of his films and in the case offman, he plays man in bowler hat. Then chasing Elfman, actually, even. So I guess he's just like part of the angry mob that doesn't like an Elfman in their neighborhood.
Starting point is 00:35:02 And number one, of course, is the great Anthony Hopkins. So Chad and Mark are both on the board with three points to Patrick's one point. But Patrick, you get to go first now on the second round. And look, I'm going to be honest, I may have misunderstood the rules and not known that we all could pick the same guy, but I wanted to stand by the lock and in and I stand by it. Yeah. And it's, you know, it makes for exciting play. Mark is Mark has been there.
Starting point is 00:35:35 He's he's done similar moves. You know, I just I'm going to say everything. Chad says the rest of the game. I just see if I can sneak by. Major League. Ha ha ha. Well, we'll see what happens when we get down to a tiebreaker, because I'm going to force somebody to win. But for now, Patrick gets to go first. And Patrick knows this movie.
Starting point is 00:36:01 You lucked out in that sense, Patrick, because I mean, you can even trick the other two players and name somebody that there's no way they'd be in the top three. Sure, sure. Then I would lose Doug. The movie is Twin Peaks Fire Walk with me. Mm-hmm and the stars, you know, according to just regular billing Sure are Cheryl Lee and Ray Wise But I'm sure that Patrick can think of some other actors that are in that film Yeah, and that movie is also starring David Lynch and I think David Lynch is probably number one right now interesting also starting David Lynch and I think David Lynch is probably number one right now. Interesting. Chad, what do you think? I'm gonna lock it. Oh, I gotta lock it in.
Starting point is 00:36:50 Oh, wait, Patrick is locking in. Locking it in. Locking it in. You're locked in for David Lynch. So then we go to Mark. Yeah, between those two principles, I would probably say David Lynch. I've never seen anything of Twin Peaks. Patty, O'Pitts, I'm so sorry. Your loss, man.
Starting point is 00:37:13 Your loss. I know. I know. I don't even think Kyle McLaughlin would be like, if he's in it, that would be above David Lynch right now. But to be different, I'll say comic Glocklin. Okay. Now we go to Chad.
Starting point is 00:37:37 I have a quandary here to write, but to do what the, I'm going to go, I'm going to take, I'm going to take a chance and I'm gonna do another David I'm gonna say David Bowie aren't you a sneaky fella I'm gonna lock it in I do want to point out Mark did not lock it in oh I'm just out here floating in the wind, baby. Well, you got to lock it. You got to pop it, then you got to lock it. I will officially lock in.
Starting point is 00:38:13 I figured it's in his last name, okay? Yeah, I'll lock it in. Yeah. Okay, so we got... Chad, you still have a quandary No, I'm still gonna. I'm gonna keep on David Bowie. Oh right right right okay, so Chad says David boy Mark says O'clock lock it in and Patrick is
Starting point is 00:38:36 going with David Lynch And I would like to read the stunning results to you starting with number four is Kyle McLaughlin Though unfortunately that is worth zero points Yes number three an actress who I'm not sure what she's appeared in recently, but she I think she just showed up in something
Starting point is 00:39:07 So she's getting a little steam on the popularity meter on IMDB Machen amique Okay, remember her from the TV show she's the only the waitress yeah number two can't keep this guy down even if it's for Just a mere 24 hours Keith or Sutherland what? The Keith is number two and number one warms my heart because I'm such a huge fan of her work in
Starting point is 00:39:45 The cutting edge It's Moira Kelly Number one that's yeah Sane list I think like you know more Kelly was on West Wing for a while, and I know that a lot of you been talking about West Wing because like people You know decided to cling to a TV show pretend pretend that that's what, that's how politics should work. So maybe that's why Maura, Maura Kelly, or maybe there's just a new generation of cutting edge
Starting point is 00:40:18 fans out there. I don't, I don't know what's going on with that. But that's the wild thing about the algorithm is that in this this case David Lynch did not? Didn't manage to land in the the top names you know what what's gonna happen next you know it's wild the results from that Quiz were as mysterious as the film twice Yeah, it leaves you with a lot of questions but we have one more round to go and Mark has not had the opportunity to go first chance so mark your first in this one Can't wait to lock this I mean
Starting point is 00:40:58 This is you know I can't You know I don't know how the timing is gonna work out on this or what's you know who's gonna get what but Your chosen Favorite David Lynch movie is the subject of this round. It's the movie dune whoa starring Kyle McLaughlin lock it in and Virginia Madsen second billing, but it's a
Starting point is 00:41:27 massive cast of interesting actors That David Lynch assembled What do you like mark who you think would who do you think would be Just shoot for the shoe for number one you need this because you're currently tied with Chad I Would love to go with Kyle again because that's how you walk in and answer literally is his last name but and he's wonderful in the film, but I think that I
Starting point is 00:42:01 am gonna have to go with the performance of another man who sort of like taking a page out of Chad's book again, because you know I love doing that is it he picked a incredible rock star to Maybe be in the top three of that cast. I'm gonna do the same with dune And I'm gonna go my my boy Gordon better known as thing. Oh, yeah Good old Gordon Sumner Wore a black and yellow shirt one day and if somebody called him sting and it's stuck
Starting point is 00:42:35 Like that's the thing that fascinates me about sting is it everywhere he goes his entire life. He's been asked The question of how he got that name and he's never punched it it up It's always just I was wearing a black and yellow shirt That's nothing you know wasn't somebody cool or famous that called him staying just some B yeah Georgia Tech fan yeah, don't buzz so close to me. Okay, so Who started that mark started that so Chad, what do you think I You know Doug the last game the last the the results of Twin Peaks Firework with me were so mysterious so out of left Field it got me excited. I like that none of us got anything from that
Starting point is 00:43:30 I'm gonna do I love your pick of sting That's that actually was the first one that popped in mind for me, but I'm gonna do another one That I have a very good feeling about because his love and adoration is He has a deep fan base. I'm going to go with Star Trek, the next generation's Patrick Stewart. Hmm. Whoa. That seems like a smart poll.
Starting point is 00:44:00 Yes. All right, Patrick. Patrick Stewart was also mine. I'm also going to lock in Patrick Stewart. As you share a name. Yeah, that was why I thought I had it. I thought I could use it because it was my name. And that scene with him in the pug is just brilliant.
Starting point is 00:44:22 Well, this is really something. You know, that last game, it was like I was playing with a bunch of David Lynch experts. And this game, it's suddenly three people are not familiar with the man. Have you never eaten at Bob's big boy in in Burbank number three on the very peculiar IMDB algorithm Brad Durif really oh I love Brad Durif but I wouldn't think he'd be on there yeah no he's a great actor wow always always entertaining to see but yeah
Starting point is 00:45:13 number three for Dune number two this is gonna blow your minds Sean Young wow okay I mean who said anything about her for any reason in in quite a while like it was a long time ago when she you know dressed up as Catwoman and stalked Tim Burton And I guess there's probably more to the story than that so I don't I want to reduce her to just that but she did seem like she was just known for being a bit too much there's a lot going on yeah So I don't I want to reduce her to just that but she did seem like she was just known for being a Bit too much. There's a lot going on. Yeah, and number one is an actress that I've been familiar with for a long time who Just I guess is getting a burst of popularity
Starting point is 00:45:59 because she's in Long legs And her name is Alicia Witt. Yeah. Oh boy. Yeah. That's number one. She's the child in it.
Starting point is 00:46:13 That's crazy. How many albums have these people sold? That's a good question. Has any of them performed with Stuart Copeland before? Yeah. Yeah, I don't know why I like sting was in there you know like a few few more down or whatever, but like just Absolutely shocking results and so now we have on our hands a tie between
Starting point is 00:46:37 Chad and Mark so here's how we're going to settle this We're going to settle this. We're going to just go to Chad because he won the previous game so he gets a little bit of an advantage here. I'm gonna name a David Lynch movie and the two people who were top build at the time, one of them is ranked higher than the other today So you have to tell me Chad? From the film blue velvet Who do you think is ranked higher today? Isabella Rossellini
Starting point is 00:47:18 or Kyle McLaugh that mother grabber in Mclock that mother grabber in Thomas Rockland, I'm going for international purposes. I'm going Isabella Rossellini Your dear taking the end International purposes yes route on this answer international Internationally beloved Isabella Rossellini, and I'm locking it in you're not mclock mclocking it in your Rosalina Rosalini locking it yeah
Starting point is 00:47:52 That is the correct answer Who is very much in the race to get a best supporting actress nomination for Conclave supporting actress nomination for conclave This year it's a you know they keep pushing date back the date when they're gonna announce the Oscars but then the nominees but It seems like she will be one and but of course everybody still loves Kyle McLaughlin and he of course had some nice social media messaging about David Lynch. But for now, Mark has finally been defeated and Chad is our winner. Congratulations, Chad.
Starting point is 00:48:36 Thank you. Thank you. I'm a isn't isn't tomorrow Lynch's birthday? Oh, boy, that would be crazy if that were true, but I like the sound of it. It is. Yeah, it's also my birthday. Yeah, you know when I think of Patrick Cottenwar and David Lynch, I think Martin Luther King.
Starting point is 00:48:59 Yes, the big three, the big three. Yeah, all right. So but your birthday isn't always Martin Luther King Day. The big three the big three yeah, all right, so But your birthday isn't always Martin Luther King day. It's just every few years and it falls right on it Yeah, and every four years it is inauguration day, which is usually either great or the worst day of my life, so So excited that's crazy I won't and I won't tell you which one it is this year Well Chad
Starting point is 00:49:31 Congratulations once again The first question I have to ask you as a new champion is would you be able to join us this coming Saturday? Starting point is 00:50:49 I don't even know yet. Good luck with that. It could be a monster. I know. I'm scared, Doug. I could be Doug. At least if you're the feature, you don't have to have the conversation about their intro.
Starting point is 00:51:03 You don't have to worry about that. You just do your time, good night, and to have the conversation about their intro. You know, you don't have to worry about that. You just do your time. Good night and out of there. Right. Yeah. Well, good luck with whoever it is you end up working with there. I got lots of great, uh, great headlines that go through, uh, roosters. And it seems like the, the, the shortening of the name from Rooster
Starting point is 00:51:21 T feathers to roosters has been, uh, a to the to the club because now there's less people Showing up thinking that they should have their kids birthday party there. Yeah Patrick Cottenwar, thank you for joining us once again. What would you like to promote? Thank you for having me Yeah, I've got a new podcast out with Brian Lynch who wrote Secret Life of Pets and Minions and a whole bunch of other stuff. We're doing commentaries on movies and TV shows
Starting point is 00:51:52 with people who made them who never got to do commentaries on them. We've had a lot of really cool ones, but the one this week is a movie I talked about on the show before, it's Prey, and the guest is Dane DeLegro who played the predator in Prey. in Prey. It's really, it's really, really rad. So that'll be out probably this Thursday, I think. It's anywhere
Starting point is 00:52:11 you could find podcasts. And then George Lucas talk show, if you're listening to this on the 20th, the day it comes out, we're doing a live stream fundraiser for the California Community Foundation, their LA wildfire relief fund. So that'll be live streaming on Twitch on Paul Scheer's Twitch channel, twitch.tv slash friend zone all day long. You don't have to watch to donate. You can go to bit.ly slash gltsfire and throw them in the dollars, $5, whatever. We're going to San Francisco Sketch Fest.
Starting point is 00:52:38 February 1st, we're doing George's talk show with a bunch of cool people. February 2nd, we're doing a live reading of the Star Wars holiday special Those are both in San Francisco and then February 4th The holiday special live readings got an insane cast. It's very very cool And then the fourth we're doing two shows the tiniest typewriter which will be in person and live streamed and then you can find me on Social media wherever That's awesome. Yeah, I'm also gonna be at sketch fest that that same weekend
Starting point is 00:53:14 Doing just all kinds of shows including a Douglas movies so go to sf sketch fest Comfort tickets to Patrick shows or my shows or both Mark Ellis Yes, sir It's finally over you finally been defeated. I can sleep Yeah, the Goliath that is Mark Ellis has finally been hit in the face by a tiny pebble Tiny blarney stone thrown by Chad Oh pits I need blarney stone thrown by Chad O'Pitts. I need Larni Stone.
Starting point is 00:53:44 What do you want to plug, Mark? I will be emotionally recovering from this devastating loss in St. Pete and then Greensboro, North Carolina in March. And then I got Vegas coming up soon after that. So tickets go on sale this week, actually. So you can get them at Mark Ellis dot live and social media. If it's not banned is at Mark Ellis live. Oh, well, Tick Tock is back. You know that, right? Thanks to our thanks to our brave, brave incoming president.
Starting point is 00:54:17 What a what a leader. I mean, it just was taken down just so that it could be, know so there could be a hero to bring it back, right? Yeah, so That whole tick-tock being gone nightmares. I didn't even think about it I didn't like give one last look at tick-tock before it went down I was just like it's either to be gone or it's not. And it's not, it doesn't affect me that much because I've never, uh, I've never committed to it. I guess they do have to commit to it now though.
Starting point is 00:54:53 I'm also like, are any of you guys on blue sky? No, I am. Yeah, yeah, yeah. How's that working out for you? It's fine. It's very weird. It seems like all the weirdos went there, but people should definitely follow me on blue sky Patrick Yeah, I you know Blue skies been taken So I've been trying to figure out what to What to add to my name that I wouldn't be embarrassed by a few years from now, looking back on it.
Starting point is 00:55:29 I haven't come up with it. Deadbends in comedy just feels like it's promising that each post will have comedy in it. That won't be the case. Yeah, that's why I went Mark Ellis live. It's like, look, when I die, it'll be awkward. But until then, it's like, yeah, this guy, I got it. He's just his heart is pumping. Doug Benson live. Yeah, I don't know. It's too much. It'd be too weird to be dead and people just looking at your posts on something that says you're live. So wait, you don't you don'tves Movies.BlueSky.Social because someone does.
Starting point is 00:56:08 Yeah, no, I mean, but I just wanted my name, Doug Benson, but that's not available either. Yeah. Really? Yeah. Yeah, because there's, you know, I don't think it's necessarily somebody snapped it up and they're gonna wanna charge me money for it. I just think that it's common enough name that, cuz there were a few,
Starting point is 00:56:27 the last few, back when I signed up for Friendster. For instance, there is no famous Doug Benson's Me or Anyone and it was still already taken. So it's just, it's too common. Like I think every third person is named Doug Benson in Norway. Douglas, you know, it's not taken on blue sky patio pits. There we go. Oh, that's what I'll do. I'll just be patio.
Starting point is 00:56:57 Yeah, I love it. All right. All of my dates and deeds are at Douglas movies calm But also go to dynasty typewriter calm for next Saturday's live-streaming so if you're anywhere that you're listening to this you can probably join the live-stream for a few bucks and Haven't done more of those. I've been really
Starting point is 00:57:21 reticent I've been insisting on just making this an audio-only podcast and not like a TV or web show but I finally broke down and said let's go ahead and do one and See if people check it out and like it. Thank you once again to Chad Opitz Mark Ellis and Patrick and I picked the for today's last line. I chose the last line of the movie the elephant man So as always Nothing will die Another talkie, eyes of gold, his viewing prowess makes it cocky There's no room in his heart for you, cause Doug loves movies!
