Hey, everybody. I know the plugs are your favorite part, so I'm going to do one right here at the top, Sacramento, the punchline, one of my favorite places to do Douglas movies. We're doing it on Halloween, October 31st, 7.30. How about Arden Mall? See you there. Wear a costume. Why not? Enjoy the show.
If he adds in pot, four kernels in his teeth, there's still not one that he won't see.
Because Doug loves movies.
Hey, hey, hey, everybody.
My name is Doug, and I love movies, especially scary movies.
This is Doug loves movies recording on Sunday afternoon, October 12, 2025.
And my guest today are Yorga Arzitis, Paget Brewster, and Merse.
Mercedes, Bryce, Morgan.
Hello.
Hello.
Hello.
Let's meet everybody individually, alphabetically, by first name.
I don't screw this up.
Oh, I got it.
Okay.
She is the director of Bone Lake in theaters now.
Mercedes-Brice Morgan.
Welcome to the show.
Hello.
Thank you for having me on.
I also love movies, obviously, so I am excited to be here.
Yeah, I would hope a director would enjoy.
I know, that'd be pretty wild if not, you know.
I guess there might be one or two out there that are, that hate movies but direct them anyway.
Real masochistic behavior.
Totally.
I mean, it is, it's an awful lot of work, that's for sure.
So, you know, I could see.
True. I think that's why you have to extra love it, though, because if you don't, you would have been gone a long time ago.
Right. Exactly.
Yeah.
Everybody else works on a movie, just doing their part, they don't have to concern themselves with everything.
You know, the director really has to be into it.
True.
I am sad to say that I have not seen Bone Lake yet, and it's been kind of a, you know, a long process of not having.
having seen it, because I was at Fantastic Fest in 2024 when it premiered there.
Oh, nice.
And I didn't see it been.
And then as often happens with these things, you know, it now is out a year later.
And I am definitely going to see it soon.
But without having seen it, I came up with a tagline for it.
Oh, let's hear it.
Please let's hear it.
You know, it's not too late.
Even though it's in theaters, we can like bring it.
back and then re-release it with the new tagline yeah well you know or this tagline is a little
spicy so maybe you know i mean we're spicy so the spicier the better please spice it up yeah
i hope you like it the tagline i came up with where bone lake is uh they went to the lake to bone
but got fucked you know it's fantastic is i'm pretty sure like the bleaker like marketing team
probably considered something like that based on our marketing so i think
think that fits right in line with what we did like perfect you nailed it no pun intended
thank you if i was working at a movie theater that was showing it i would put bone lake on the
marquee but with like an r dangling lower like it fell off that the r and boner fell yeah no see
that's great you know it's funny is when i was younger like i grew up in a very small close-minded
town and we had you know swan lake premiering and someone on the poster out outside
side or black swan excuse me and outside on the poster they put has lesbian messaging and i've
never wanted to see a movie more and so that that is great marketing that someone accidentally
did for this movie and you know now that you mentioned it i think swan lake also has that
messaging yeah exactly there you know swan like also has that there we go uh anything with a
swan involved it's going to have that messaging yeah um but
so but congratulations on the movie is there you've already obviously done you know lots of press
for it but what's here to just to grab the the listeners what's your you know short
description of the movie totally so my very my short description of the movie is this couple
goes to get away at this Airbnb rental place it turns out it's double booked and we become
a much hornyer version of barbarians sibling and we take on
than a totally different, updated, erratic thriller direction
that ends in a lot of blood.
I want to watch that movie?
I want to watch that movie?
It's in theater still.
So I, you know, recognize that.
Congratulations. That's awesome.
Thank you.
I might even see it tonight.
We'll see.
But how are you, Mercedes, with movie trivia?
Movie trivia.
That's funny is when I was younger,
I'd always go and read the IMDB trivia after every movie.
But I don't know, like, I'm more, I'm interested in the, like,
they had to make this in this weird way.
But the rest of trivia, I've never been, like, a trivia person
where I would be the person you would want to go to a trivia night with.
Well, good luck today.
Thank you.
Thank you.
I need it.
I need it.
So I have a, I have a, anyone can win approach to movie trivia because,
A lot of it is just guest work, and you never know who's going to win.
My next guest, she never knows when she's going to win.
Always a surprise.
She was the subject of a clue, a question on Jeopardy the other night.
Thank you.
Oh.
Very exciting.
Doug sent me a screenshot.
I love you for that.
One of the contestants got it, answered it correctly, which, you know,
You know, the answer was, what is criminal minds?
Because there was a picture of you in your name and said that, you know, how long you've been with the show.
And then the answer was what is criminal minds?
And he got it right.
And that always, I always like when that happens because I feel bad for a celeb sitting at home.
And their name comes up, comes up in a question.
And three, you know, brainiacs don't know the person.
I assumed.
I assumed they wouldn't get it.
Uh, well, you know,
but thank you for telling you're very modest, humble individual.
Criminal minds.
Criminal minds is huge.
Um,
thanks.
And the category was,
what was the category?
I mean,
I think it was something about characters,
like characters on shows.
Oh.
You know,
and they mentioned your character name.
Oh.
Um,
but thank you for joining us again here.
Thank you for having me.
me again with a full we have a full uh roster we've got three guests this time the
one of the last times you're on one of the guests uh canceled last minute that's right that's right
we had a great time though yeah we did but you had to go head to head but today you have to take on
two competitors and my third guest today uh we initially were talking to him on this show
about a short that he had made that was playing in festivals and now we are at the
point where you can see this short it's your go art citas how are you doing yorgo oh i'm doing
doing lovely i'm uh uh so excited for the short to be out and for people to not have to travel to
like you know austin or new york to see it yeah and it's on youtube yes it is on youtube or you or you
also have a website yes i have a website called troll dot dot com troll as in like uh you know
troll too for all the uh fans out there and then doc uh it's uh it's out it's very very exciting
it's been a long time coming and i'm uh very excited uh to hear all the response for it i went to
youtube to watch it and i typed in you know troll is spelled in an interesting way because
it's it's basically you know t r l and then the other the oh and the other l are in parentheses
these in the middle.
And then it's
then, you know, and then there's the subtitle, a long
subtitle after that. And I typed
your troll in that way and that, you know,
the movie, you mentioned troll, and troll
two, those came up and other things with
trolls in them. But
your movie, your short didn't come up
at all. And then I had to
continue typing. So if anybody else is
doing this, it's, the
next words are, what,
it's something about
the, you know, it is.
Yeah, it's troll, colon, total request live, new kids on the block, and the chain letter that changed the internet.
What? What is it about?
It's about a chain letter that went around the internet in 1999 trying to troll total request live in their voting system by getting a decade old new kids on the block music video on the countdown.
Wow. Both of you, I am so impressed.
I'm excited to see both of your work
A lot less gore in mine for sure
And our friend Dave Holmes
Was the was hosting TRL when that
When that happened the day it happened
I guess Carson Daley was an assignment or something
But it was fun to see Dave Holmes
In your movie
and he's he's been uh it's been a while now but he's been a guest on this show as well
he's the he's the best he rocks yeah very nice dude and i'm happy for all of his success because
you remember how he became uh m tv vj and and host of t rl yeah yeah he came in second
place to jess camp yeah the contest or do you want to be a vj or whatever and dave was just very
likable and professional in Jesse Camp
look like Marilyn Manson but like
less housed
and Jesse won
Jesus
I spoke
to so many people and
I didn't speak to Jesse Camp
but everybody commented on Jesse
and his hygiene which was
very interesting
Jesse Camp was a thing and Dave
lasts a little bit longer. Yeah
no Dave really overcame
like Jesse was such a character
and Dave was just a, you know, a nice dude in oversized shirts.
Now, that's a joke in the dock.
Yeah, yeah.
How much do you like horror movies, Yorgo?
Enough.
I've seen a lot of them, but it's a phase that I wish I could get into
because the community is very good and welcoming.
Yeah.
I find that horror fans are the best fans.
And they are.
Yep.
They just appreciate it.
They take everything for how it is, and they just love the genre and love talking about it.
And I just wish I had that in me.
But I watch all the big ones.
I watched weapons, barbarian rocks, all that kind of stuff.
Yeah.
Well, because this is the month of October, I ask all of my guests to recommend one scary movie.
And we'll start with you, Mercedes.
what it could be your own movie if you'd like to just get another plug in no that's so boring to
recommend my own movie i've already i'm hearing this people now i'm talking about bone like i would
say that an old wreck i have is people should go watch the movie freaks from many many decades
ago um todd brownings yes yes and i'd say it's because to me what's scariest is people who suck
and there's a lot of people
who suck in this movie
and it's a movie
that could never be made now
so that's also
what I'd recommend it to people
it could be made now
just because of how
insensitive it is
it's a very special
type of movie
in the cast that it has
it would be very hard
to collect that
and maybe we could
maybe it could be made now
but I just haven't seen
anything quite like it
yeah
it's a
definitely um i wonder if it was successful initially or if it's if it yeah i'm not sure
film it is today because you know people have just you know caught it uh over time yeah i don't know
that's a good question actually it's a great movie though great movie yeah um and it's do you think
it's like on uh like on a streamer like is it i believe it's on a streamer yeah i i've definitely
watched it on a streamer since that
because there's a couple of great movies that aren't available anymore,
but people should be able to find it.
So I'm glad that that was preserved for people.
That's good.
That's good.
That brings me, I got a question for you, Paget.
Yeah.
Before you recommend a movie, have you ever been in a horror movie?
No.
I was in a horror short film.
Okay.
In San Francisco, when I was like 26.
I think and I was murdered by a a transgender clown who beat me to death on a bed with a bowling pin and it was back when so I just was I just died I just was beaten to death and died and I guess I was someone's roommate or something but that was when the blood all the fake blood used to be spearmint it tastes and I had to die with my eyes open and my head body
and forth with the blood in my eyes and it my eyes burned for days oh god but i can't scream
for shit so i never got cast and i love horror i want to die so bad and i just i don't have a
good scream i need to be like some i need to be like a doctor that gets snuck up on from behind
or something like i can't i you could be the killer too you know there's there's multiple ways
yeah you know you could not everybody in a horror movie has a scream especially
Wait, so I could be a killer, I could be a killer, and then get the death chair, get the, get the chair, get the death penalty, and then die in the chair, where you don't have to scream, you just like, like that.
Oh, yeah, you're good at that. Just like that. I'm good at that. I've worked on that. I'm auditioning for Mercedes.
You're cast. Let's go make this movie literally right now. Let's go. Doug have you? Doug, have you been in a horror film?
Yeah.
Oh, come on. Yeah.
I mean, you know, the listeners of this podcast, I've heard about it enough, but I was one of the, I was multiple zombies in Return to the Living Dead part two.
Oh, I forgot.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, my God.
Yeah.
That was a, that was an interesting experience.
It was a difficult experience.
Well, I've been, I feel bad for anybody that plays any role with a lot of, you know, prosthetic.
appliances and makeup because
you know
we were like
you know we were between actors and extras
in this movie like the seven of us that played
all of the lead zombies
but like we do
you know makeup for four hours and be on set
for 12 hours and then sleep for a couple hours
and then just do it again
so like so like and you can't be putting this makeup
on you know day after day
I assume most movies were a character
has a lot of prosthetics, they, you know, break up the days that they shoot those scenes a little
bit, you know?
So it was just, you know, that aspect of it, like having the makeup put on and off just
on a daily basis was, you know, not very pleasant.
But at the same time, there's nothing, there's more, some things that are more fun for sure.
But one thing that's super fun is being completely, you know, made up as this zombie
and then looking at yourself in a mirror
because you don't, you know what I mean?
You don't feel like you look like that.
You just do, you know?
So it's that part of it.
I never got tired of that.
I never got,
I took lots of pictures and looked at myself in the mirror a lot.
And watching the movie, it's like out of body.
I don't remember the pain.
That's always kind of true, you know?
My favorite thing is during lunch of something like a zombie film
where everyone's on their phones and just in zombie makeup
or like a period piece.
and you're like, what did I just walk into?
Yeah, and we had to drink, you know, we had to drink our lunch, you know, during lunch break.
Oh, yeah.
You just took a straw into some, you know.
Oh, my God.
So you felt like a zombie while you were a zombie, yes.
Yeah, I was like, I'd eat some brains, please.
Oh, my God.
I'm tired of this health drink.
Okay, so Paget, what would you like to recommend for people to watch to get scared this Halloween?
Well, it's tough because it's kind of a cerebral suggestion because it is, it is, it is successful and a failure at the same time.
That would be the Exorcist 3 because it was directed by William Blatty who wrote the screenplay.
So it's a lot of talking.
It's Brad Dorif and, uh, who played Patton? What's his name?
Uh, George C. Scott.
George C. Scott, but there are three horror scares in that movie that had never been done,
that have never been as successfully replicated.
And it is, you know, it's the, basically, you know, the devil and an exorcism and a priest,
and it's a, it's a psychiatric hospital.
and but but but there are three scares that are worth watching a lot of dialogue that the that the
director writer was madly in love with and i and i think that's probably one of the hardest things
you could ever do is write the movie that you're going to direct and edit well yeah and i have no
interest in directing it looks like the worst job in the world to me so i'm proud of you guys
But I definitely, I think about it often enough, having seen it maybe three times in the last 25 years, it's, it's great and not great.
So it's something to watch if you're interested in the genre of horror.
I feel like you recommended this like on a regular episode.
I can't help it.
I know.
I have because it's fascinating to me.
And maybe I want other people to go through what I've been through by being compelled to watch it.
All right.
Well, we'll see if anybody takes the bait.
And, you know, like, you really sold it with the, there's too much dialogue.
You can fast forward.
Three scary parts.
You'll see.
You'll see.
You'll see, yeah.
It's, I remember, you know, everyone thought Exorcist 2 was so awful that the, you know,
Three, I think, got at least a bit of a pass for just not being as bad as two.
Yeah.
But I don't know if the total of respect is there yet.
No.
I mean, obviously, Exorcist is, is extraordinary.
And, you know, you everyone's seen that, though.
You have to have seen Exorcist.
If you're into horror, you've seen The Exorcist.
Yeah.
It's unlikely you've seen The Exorcist three after two.
Or a lot of people probably have not seen Todd Browning's freaks.
Yeah, I mean, exactly.
No one should be recommending, like, The Shining.
Like, come on.
Basic.
Uh-oh, Juergen.
All right.
Yorgo, what's your recommendation?
I'm going to do a mainstream movie in Hollywood.
I guess it was an independent movie, but I think it's my favorite horror movie of the 21st century.
And that is the original Saw movie.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, I really like it a lot.
You never saw it.
The original saw is really, really, really good.
I'm scared of it.
Isn't it all torture porn and like a goblin head with hypno eyes?
That's describing it pretty accurately.
There is some of that stuff for sure.
I should see it though, right?
I should see it though.
The sequels, I think it's a little bit more clever than that.
The sequels became torture porn and then hostile made this whole, like,
wave of torture porn coming like the mid-aughts but saw is really really really clever and um
yeah i mean do you know the twist no don't tell me can't say the twist if you're recommending it
no i'm saying if you don't know the twist then you should see it then that's a really good reason to see it
yeah i feel like i'm missing out on on on a on a huge cultural touchstone that is the saw franchise
because I never saw the first one.
And if I at least saw, saw, it's almost willful ignorance at this point.
But if you're saying the first one was really good, I'll watch that.
I'll watch that.
There's 11 of them now.
Right?
There's 11 saw movies.
Yeah, including Spiral, the Chris Rock one or whatever.
Yeah.
I stopped after three or four because they did become just torture porny.
Let's see what kind of weird.
game we can have these play but
but the first one is really
and it was like it's like inspiring these people made
a shorts then they made their movie
for no money they got Kerry
Elvis in it
he overacts like you wouldn't believe in the movie which is
fun
his counterpart is Lee Wannell
who's become a big filmmaker since
and yeah
I like it a lot and I know that
it's a very easy choice but I don't
care I think it's good
you know anybody who hasn't seen it
as a great time to go ahead and check it out.
You don't have to commit to the whole series.
I strangely started with Saw 3 was the first saw that I saw.
Not a bad one.
Not a bad.
What is it, Donnie Wahlberg in it?
Oh, probably.
What I walked away with was just like this, you know,
drill into the brain part of it, which I didn't really like.
like so i i i i sort of tapped on on saw movies uh what after that one but you know that's the thing
about horror and specifically saw is that so much of it is in the in the pop culture i kind of feel
like i've seen it you know like i know i know jigsaw when i see him you know yeah i know jigsaw
i know what jigsaw looks like and and i haven't but you talk to me into seeing the first one i'll
see the first one okay i should have by now and uh so this
is of great value to me.
Here we go. Thank you.
I would be surprised if you didn't like it.
It's a banger.
Well, thanks for those recommendations.
Speaking of bangers, we got some sweet-ass
advertisements for you to listen to,
and then we will be back with some scary-ish games

back to the show
We are back
and our first game
that we're going to play today
is called swap meet
and
M-E-E-T
M-E-A-T
you know where I go
Yes! You know where
this thing is headed
now
I'll say a fun
well I'll say a fact
It's fun or otherwise.
You could be the judge of that.
But then you have to tell me if that fact applies to the motion picture called the Midnight Meat Train or meet the parents or both.
Now, the trick to this is to not say too much about what you know about either of those movies before hearing the questions because it might.
you know help other people to uh answer correctly we'll start with mercedes okay i'll say the
the fact and you tell me midnight meet train meet the parents or both and if you miss then padgett
gets a shot at it gets a 50 50 essentially and then if page it misses then your go would get
a gimmee point because there'd only be one answer left after each time somebody gets
one right. The next person
will start
in the next round.
And
good luck
to everybody. Thank you.
But Paget
and Jorgo of both, I think, have you
ever won on the show before, Yorgo?
I am
0 for 2.
Okay. So this could be it.
So I'm not, I won't say
anymore. I don't want to jinx anybody.
Mercedes
Yes indeed
Meet Train
Meet the parents are both
The film is under
1 hour and 50 minutes long
Okay
I'm gonna have to say
Midnight Meet Train
Is well actually no
Probably I think both of them
Both of them are under an hour and 50 minutes
You know I'm a fan of
movies that are 90 minutes, especially in the horror and comedy genres. Those are the two genres in
particular that I think 90 minutes is a perfect length. Yeah, I agree. Can be. And so yes, Mercedes,
you were correct. Both of those films are under an hour and 50 minutes long. That'd be wild if they
weren't. Like what plot twist are we being served that is worth them being longer than that?
But that's the thing that's kind of strange with the horror movies of late is you've got some of these, you know, Ariaster types out there that just want to make them longer and longer and longer.
And, you know, it's, it's a, it's an odd trend to me.
I don't know why.
Yeah, I don't know.
I mean, I haven't seen Midnight Meat Train, but I don't think Ariaster is going to direct a movie title that's similar to Midnight Meet Train, which is why there's maybe a difference there.
But maybe, you know, I don't know.
The original title for Bo is Afraid, I think, was Disappointment Boulevard.
True, but Disappointment Boulevard still is different from Midnight Meet Train.
You know?
Yeah, it's true.
Yeah.
Okay, Mercedes is on the board with one point.
Padgett, you're going to go first on this next one.
Ready.
Sam Ramey's younger brother, Ted.
is in it.
Meet train,
meet the parents, or both.
Fuck.
Um,
uh,
um,
um,
um,
Doug,
your brain.
Do you know Ted Ramey?
Uh.
Can you picture him?
Ted,
yeah.
I'm going to say meet the parents.
He's a good actor.
Mm-hmm.
I don't know.
If you're,
if it's your,
if you're,
if you're,
brother is a film director that's not an epo is it kind of is i guess i think it is yeah at what time his
success happened in their lives yeah um well also i believe he like was you know actually actively
involved in like he you know worked a lot with his brother so like you know could also claim
to be part of his success true uh but that being said
he is not in meet the parents.
Damn it.
I thought that was your little twisty.
I mean, I was just going to say incorrect,
but then once we know that,
once we know he wasn't in meet the parents,
it really narrows down the options.
There are no options.
Yeah, so Yorgo,
just say it just for to make it official.
that he was in Meet the Parents?
No, that he said the other one.
Me, Midnight, Me, Trent, yeah.
You can't even get it right when it's handed to you.
I know, I'm fumbling.
Does he get to keep that point, or does it go to Mercedes?
No, I know.
I've been, you know, I've been.
Those are some Mercedes, obviously.
Pretty harsh to people in the past, but I think Mercedes wants to, you know, win this on her own
and can do it with this.
next round.
That's a lot of pressure.
That's a lot of pressure.
In Silver Linings
playbook,
Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Coops
walk by a theater
with this movie
on the marquee.
Is it
Meet Train,
meet the parents, or both?
Meet the parents.
It's incorrect.
What?
no my life is flashing before my eyes it's it's they walk past the marquee that is the midnight
meat train yes it's true and that that was like you know i guess they thought that it was funny
to put a you know a famous flop that bradley cooper was in on the you know marquee oh see i didn't know he was in it
That's how good job.
Yeah, well, that's why I said at the beginning, don't say too much about these movies.
Because if somebody just blurted out, oh, that Bradley Cooper movie.
Also, having learned about the movies now, knowing that he's in it, but having the title Midnight Meat, Tran, I thought it was like some type of like B movie just by the title.
I would never have guessed that he's in it.
So the plot is thickening.
It's got a, you know, it's got a few decent actors in it, but by all accounts, it did not.
turned out very well it was um it opened in dollar theaters like it legitimately it legitimately
the distributor straight up just went straight to the dollar theaters and skipped a a full price
theater kind of release i'd be so proud if i was in a dollar dollar theater movie
i'd be so happy just have the premiere right there all right uh okay uh okay
So what just happened?
Oh, Mercedes is our winner.
You did it.
But let me sell this next one to Paget just for fun.
Features an actor who is in The Wedding Crashers.
Me, Train, Meet the Parents, or Both.
I'm going to say both.
Yeah.
Oh, there you go.
Why?
Why?
Yeah.
Because it does, you, you, there, the chances are higher that an actor from the
Wedding Crashers is in both of those movies and you didn't say it was the same actor.
Yeah, it's two different actors.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's Owen Wilson's in Meet the Parents and Bradley Cooper's Nutsack from Wadding Cours.
Yeah.
Wait, his name in the movie is Nutsack?
His name's Zach, but they call him not Zach.
Oh, okay.
And then finally, just for fun, I'm just throwing out there a little cute piece of trivia
is that there's a movie in 2013 that I actually quite enjoyed starring Christian Bale called
Out of the Furnace.
And in the opening of that movie, there's a someone that had a,
drive-in movie theater, and the film playing on the screen is the Midnight Meetrain.
Oh, if it was Meet the Parenthood, how hilarious would that be?
I mean, it could be any movie, I guess, but I don't know what, you know, what shot they use for Midnight Meetrain.
I don't know if it's, if you could see Bradley Cooper, if it's just some, you know, maybe they also got the, the clip for cheap,
or they just wanted to make it look like they, you know,
they were at the drive-in watching a B-movie.
But congratulations, Mercedes.
You won our first game,
and all that means is that you get to go first in the second game.
That's the game that really matters today,
and we'll decide our overall winner.
Okay.
We will play that game after the break.

Hello.
And Mercedes gets to go first.
Okay.
I'm shivering with Intissa.
Nice.
Thank you.
I sold for Rocky Horror.
It's not original.
Yeah.
But if you're going to steal from anything, steal from Rocky Horror, I say.
Yeah.
You're going to go first in this game called the little search engine that could.
I typed a word into this.
search engine on the
IMDB and I
wrote down the top 10 movies
with that word in the title
I'm going to tell you all
the word and then the three
of you starting
with Mercedes then going to Yorgo
then to Padgett will take turns
naming
movies that you think
made
the top 10 list
based on IMDB's
funky algorithm which is
basically just people
have been searching.
Yeah, so like...
This is a hard game.
This is a hard game.
It can be.
It seems hard.
Okay.
Watch.
Let's see.
The last time I did this,
you had saw as the word.
Yeah.
So that was...
It was quite challenging.
That was an interesting one.
Because you got to remember the
correct,
you know,
the exact titles.
So the higher up on the list,
the movie is that you,
name the more points you get if it's not on the list if it's not in the top ten because there's
lots of movies with this word in the title then uh you know you get zero points for that round
person with the most points after all three of you have guessed three times is the winner today
uh and since it's scary movie month the word is evil evil okay so how many v i l
I'll. Okay. How many do I guess? Do I discuss one at a time? You'll say one and your girl say one. All right. Evil dead. Evil dead. Two words evil and dead. Two words evil and dead. Number three on the list. That's worth eight points for Mercedes.
Super strong start
But now
We go to your go
There's two movies above it
Yeah, I'm going to go
Evil Dead 2
Damn it
Failed a little lower on the list
Really?
Interestingly enough
Yeah
And it was
Number five
as of today this morning
when the presses
opened or stopped
what's the expression
stop the presses
uh six points
for
that one your go
now we go to
page it for her first guess
not good at this game
um
you are just
having trouble
No, I have titles, but I don't think they're in the top 10.
That's my problem.
So I guess I'm going to start with Touch of Evil.
Okay.
You're right.
It's not in the top 10.
Yeah, I didn't think so.
Number 14 on the list.
But amazing movie, though, right?
Yeah, I'll keep thinking.
Keep going, guys.
You never mind me.
I'll just be over here thinking.
I'll be over here thinking.
Thinking what the hell am I going to do?
Mercedes, have you got another one for us?
Yes.
Do I have to classify if it's the American version of it or not?
Or can I just say speak no evil?
And we'll just see where I land.
Oh, that's interesting because
there's two different speak no evils?
Yes.
which one's got James McAvoy in it
the American one
oh I see and then the foreign one
was like that came first
yes and so this is a
this one from 1924
oh not even 20 24
I'm like sorry I'm like
this silent film
so this this one from 2024
how many years earlier
was the original speak no evil
I think it was only a year or two earlier.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
They just swooped in and remade it.
Yes, exactly.
How well was it received that James McAvoy won?
You know what's funny is I saw the original because I'm like,
I heard that the American one had a happier ending.
And because I love the ending of the original so much,
I've stayed true to that.
So I'm actually not sure.
Interesting.
Yeah.
Well, just for knowing so much about Speak No, Eva,
all. I'm going to tell you that I'm not going to ask you to make the distinction between the foreign or the American, but the American one is number one on this.
Oh, shit.
You almost talked yourself out of that. I know. I was actually going to guess the other one, and I'm glad that you made it easier for me so we can just pretend like that didn't happen. And I got the first one.
Yeah. And I don't know what, you know, I don't think that the,
original landed anywhere that I saw and I looked all the way up to like the 20 you know the movie
that came in 20th on the list wow Americans don't like to read that's what that says I think so
what country is it from I it's horrible I do not remember which country
do you know your go oh I think it's a Scandinavian country I can't yeah I can look it up but
yeah that makes sense yeah that's fair
All right. So, yeah. So, but this, you know, for whatever reason, people, people type in evil into their computer search engine or are going for speak, no evil.
Wow.
Your go, it's your time for your second guess. This one is pretty cruish. You need to put some more points on the board to stay in it.
I feel relatively good about this landing somewhere. I don't know if it's going to be number two, though.
It is an evil.
It is.
No, colon, just the original one.
Yes.
Number eight on the list.
Yeah.
So you're still in this.
Padgett, do you okay?
I got one left, so I hope it's in there.
Well, you know, you might think of another one by the time.
Okay, okay.
This is the only one.
round to you.
Yeah, okay.
This is the only one I have in the chamber.
And there's no pressure, Padgett, because you cannot win.
Oh, that's true.
That's great.
You're right.
Okay, I don't believe Kenneth Therana has remade this yet.
And I love it the way it is.
But with Peter Eustanov, Evil Under the Sun.
I, you know, I'm happy you said evil under the sun because it did not fall in the top 10.
but when I saw it
and I didn't even write down what number it did fall at
because I was like there's no way anyone's going to say this movie
I did so I don't even need to know where it fell on the list
but it's not as good as Death on the Nile
no but I did like Peter Eustinoff is definitely my favorite
Hercule pro role
love him because you can understand what he's saying
and his mustache isn't ridiculous
Kenneth Branagh's mustache.
I can't even look at that.
I hate it.
I hate it.
I hate it so much.
But I think that,
but that was Dame Diana Rigg.
That was Dame Maggie Smith.
That was,
uh,
um,
Birkin,
uh,
what's her name?
Jane Burkin.
I love that movie.
I own that movie.
I watch it once a year.
I,
that's why I can't think of any other.
Angela Lansberry,
David Niven.
The movie's crazy.
Beautiful movie.
Yeah.
It's wild.
And it's really the,
the,
you know,
the plot and,
you know,
How it plays out is really good.
All right, but it doesn't have...
It's not in the top ten.
We'll talk about that when I play the word death sometime,
because that would be another good word to use.
But see, Padgett, this is part of the fun of this game,
is that you're doing something that's like...
It's not as good as getting all the right answers,
but it's still impressive that you're naming movies
with the word evil in the title,
and then they're not even on the list.
That's more impressive.
You know, you're two for two.
I think it's more impressive.
You're two for two at doing that.
And I think that's something to be proud of, I think.
Thank you for pointing out that I can't win.
That felt really good.
I mean, that took up.
I just didn't want you to have to worry about it.
There's no reason to stress, stress about it.
I mean, as it is, Yorgo can only win, like, you know,
it's going to be a miracle situation for your.
Miracle.
You're going to pull this off.
especially because now Mercedes can put a few more points on the board
if you got another one that is in the top 10 we haven't said yet.
Oh, God.
I feel like my brain cannot think of another one.
And so just for sake of guessing something that I haven't even seen,
but I can just think of evil eye.
There has to be a movie called Evil Eye out there.
Now, see, that is the kind of play that I appreciate.
I always encourage the guests to, like,
Like, just say something that has the word because, you know, chances are it was made into a movie.
And then maybe people were looking it up and it'll be on the other.
That's not the case here right now.
But I do appreciate that, you know, that style of play.
I think it's worth taking a shot with good old evil eye.
I think the last time I played this game with you, Doug, the word was I.
And I think I said evil eye.
and it still wasn't in the top 10.
Right, because, oh, because it was E I, E, I, E, Y, E, right?
It wasn't, because that would be weird.
It was evil.
That's a great title, though, evil I with just the letter I.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, no, no, no, your word was, talking about yourself, evil I.
Your word was E.Y.E.
Yeah, yeah.
For the last time I played this game, and I guessed evil I, and it didn't do.
Evil I with an eye.
be cool yeah somebody do that all right yorgo uh this is it man this is it man you've got to get the
number two movie because it's worth nine points and then that will that will tie you up with
mercedes oh man if you can do it that's more popular than evil dead
do you want me to repeat the titles we've said already
I think I remember
we got touch of evil, both the evil
deads, resident evil, and then speak no evil, right?
Yes.
I'm going to go
just a shot in the dark
hoping that this is, I think I remember hearing this
was a movie that came here no evil.
Well,
hear no evil, that's like a classic.
Yeah, I think.
is it oh no is that see no evil see no evil what's the one with audrey hepburn and oh near dark you're thinking of near dark no no near dark was the vampire movie that bagelow directed that was like a western oh oh no see no that's the thing that we can't find she took the whole cast from uh aliens what
never mind i'll be quiet oh yeah you're right they were didn't she take the whole cast and
like lance henriksson was in it and and and uh pat uh yeah
paxton bill paxton i want to see that that was near dark yeah i just saw her new one the
house of dynamite um how was it uh probably worst name movie in the history of
that wick was a little bit longer
because there is no dynamite in the movie
and nothing as exciting as dynamite
I mean you know Mercedes has bones and lakes in her movie
yeah dude we deliver
I mean it's it's tense
I'm just I'm just frustrated that like it's gonna get like
I think it's gonna get nominated for a lot of awards
and I just wasn't that excited by it.
Like, it's got a lot of really good actors,
but they're all in it briefly.
It's kind of like, take a, like, an old-ass disaster movie,
like The Sign Adventure, Towering Inferno,
and then have Catherine Bigelow, who loves her war stuff, all things war.
She loves war.
Yeah, I did, you know, she's like the guy in the hero of the Hurt Locker.
She just wants to keep going back to war.
and um so like so it's like both of those things at once like a disaster movie but also a war
politics strategy kind of move so it's i don't know uh it'll be interesting to see what uh people
think of it uh over the next few weeks um what what what is happening oh so
wait Doug you were saying it's two things one Mercedes guest
what was your guess again oh you're saying my incorrect guess for the movie
my my guess was hear no evil oh it was your goal yeah oh but then you said see no evil is that
the Audrey Hepburn movie yeah where she's blind in the apartment yeah oh that's a great
fucking movie I use the wrong sense that's what I'm trying to say okay yeah and um uh Alan Arkin
was the
was the bad guy
he's amazing
amazing yeah
I forgot that was him
yeah wow wow
yeah that's good stuff
do you have a third guest
Patrick just for fun
because oh I'm sorry
see no evil wasn't
here nor evil
or see no evil
neither of those are on there
and as it is your go
there is a movie
called see no evil
hear no evil
and that was number of 20 on the list.
Oh. Okay.
But so you weren't completely off.
But see no evil, hear no evil was where Gene Wilder is blind and
is that Richard Pryor?
Yes, that's right.
And they get into quite some scrapes because they're there.
I jinx.
Because they each have.
a disability, but their disabilities
you know, complimenting
each other.
Doug, Doug, Doug?
Yeah.
Can we make up a new game?
Where you
start spelling,
what is number two?
And we can all,
Mercedes already won, right?
Oh, I see what you're saying. Well, let's
let's make it official.
Mercedes, you won. Congratulations.
Oh, sorry.
No, but you know, I
I would love this to be, like, worth double the points of you start spelling it.
And whoever says it first gets double the points.
And we'll see if that changes anything because that's way more interesting.
I hope it's a resident and evil with a colon at the end.
It's got to be a lot fun.
Well, I got to recap all of the ones that didn't get answered.
So we'll do that when we get to number two.
I'll spell it for you.
Cool.
See who gets it.
Yeah.
But really quickly, let's plug one more time for Mercedes to go see Bone Lake in theaters now.
Thank you.
Yes.
And it is the type of theater experience where people yell at the screen, which is my personal favorite type of theater experience.
So that's why it's the best way to see it.
Yeah, I, you know, I've kicked myself ever since I didn't get to see it at Fantastic Fest because those, the crowds there are just,
They love that sort of thing.
It was probably so much fun.
Yeah, so much fun.
But we've seen that even like at, you know, AMC people are yelling at the screen.
So we've gone from Fantastic Fest yelling to, you know, AMC yelling.
It's great.
But it's sad when Nicole Kidman comes on at the beginning because, you know, now we know why she's at the movies alone.
In her sparkly suit.
Her sparkly suit, but also she walks in, it's rain.
You know, I've seen this thing in.
million times. So that's why I, you know, notice these things. But she walks in and it's raining and
she's got some sort of overcoat on. And then she walks into the theater, it's sparkly suit, no
overcoat. And so my question is, what AMC has a coat check? A coat attendant. Yeah. Yeah. I don't
think that exists. I think it's just her assistant or her hairdresser hanging out outside of the
You wait in the hallway.
I watched it as a phone.
Okay.
Number 10.
A movie that I am not, I'm previously to this day before today,
unfamiliar with, but now I'm really curious about something called Evil Tunes, T-O-O-N-S.
T-O-O-N-S.
From 1992, starring David Caradine, and directed by,
Fred Olin Ray.
I don't know
why.
Good old evil tunes.
And it's not a cartoon.
It looks like it's a live action movie.
And it's number 10.
Number nine,
this one,
you might feel a little bad
that you didn't think of it.
Tucker and Dale versus evil.
What's that?
I don't know what that is.
Oh,
well, put that on your list.
That one's good.
Next to Saw it's
Tucker and Dale
It's Alan Tudick
Oh I'm writing it down
That's all you need to know
Tucker and Dale
And the guy's name is
Labine
Yeah Tyler Labine
Tyler Labine
Oh yeah
I know him
Yeah
Versus evil
They're Tucker and Dale
And they have to stop evil
And saw
That's on my notes
Apparently there's a great Thai restaurant
Called Anna Jack Thai restaurant somewhere
Oh okay
Keep on
Let's hear more
All right. From 2023, there is a movie called When Evil Lurks.
Oh.
That's number seven.
And then here's a ploy none of you took advantage of.
There's a movie just straight up called Evil.
Damn it.
So you could have just said, what about evil?
What were we doing?
Couldn't be that easy.
Yeah, from 2003.
And then here's where things get really interesting, I think.
because
the
Evil Dead motion picture from
1981 is called
The Evil Dead
And when Yorgo
Or I should say Mercedes said evil dead
That's from 2013
So they're right next to each other
Obviously on the list
Yeah
The remake, same
The Ramey remake
The one that he
produced but did not direct but they dropped the the the yeah and which is so funny because
the first one was the evil dead and then part two was just evil dead too without the the
and then they kept it off for the rebake of evil dead and um all right now we're going to play
this padgett's game that's what's going to be called from now on padgett's game um
i'm going to start spelling the number two movie with evil in the title
all the first person to guess it.
Do you're saying Mercedes is the ultimate winner today, or do you want to say
No, this is worth double the points?
They get a special bonus.
Yeah.
Double.
Okay, so if it's worth double the points, then Yargo would win if he gets it first.
If Padgett has the first, it's a tie.
Okay, make it spicy.
And then if you get it, you win.
All right, here we go.
Never had a winner try to give up their title.
E. V. I. L. D. Evil Dead 3? Army of Darkness?
Evil Dead Rise. Is it Rise?
It's Evil Dead Rise.
Oh, my God. God. Damn it.
When I said, I couldn't think of a third one. I was like, why didn't I say Evil Dead rise? I'm like, that's the newer Evil Dead.
And, yeah. And Yorga said both Evil Dead movies, so that made everybody's brain shut off.
No, but when you said
the evil dead, I'm like, it has to be another
Evil Dead movie to be.
Yeah. Well, you deserve this win today,
Mercedes.
It means I like really one. You guys, that's why I did it
because I had to like movie win.
You double or nothing to yourself.
Wow.
Thank you.
Thank you to all of you for being here.
Paget, what would you like to promote
criminal minds on Paramount Plus?
Yeah, guys.
Take a look.
Go on Paramount Plus and take a look at Criminal Minds Evolution.
Thank you.
Check it out.
Do it.
Your go's got Troll on the YouTube.
Yes, TrollDoc.com if you don't want to go searching for it because I have an obnoxious title.
Troll.com.
Yeah.
And also, you know, also, yeah, once you're at Troll.com, then you can click right on, you know, the video and just watch it there.
I wanted to watch it on my TV, so that's why I looked it up on YouTube.
Quick question.
Do you have O&L in the center of troll inside parentheses?
Yes.
Okay, okay.
I thought I heard Doug say that.
I'm writing that down, too.
Right next to us all.
Okay, great, thanks.
I'm going to be doing stand-up at Cobbs in San Francisco on Saturday, November 1st at 420.
