They think it's all over.
It is now.
So was the BBC's Kenneth Wolstonholm and his live commentary on England's first and, as of this record, last World Cup win in 1966.
Since then, the English have futilely longed for the day when once again their nation would lift the trophy in celebration of winning the most coveted prize in sport.
Yes, I said sport, singular like a fucking Brit, brother.
Meanwhile, in 1966, across the pond, a tree of Italian Americans opened a pizza restaurant in the Midwest metropolis of Chicago.
Gifted their cheesy doughy moneymaker by cook Alice May Redmond, who many credited as the creator of deep dish pizza itself,
the restaurant grew to multiple second-city locations and has made numerous attempts to expand elsewhere to limited success.
Sports-wise, I'm back to plural now,
1966 also served as the season when the NFL birthed the Super Bowl,
the equivalent of the World Cup of American football,
which since then has become the most popular sport in the United States
in absolutely nowhere else.
As the U.S. and its even drunker, former colonial cousin, Australia,
both went away from proper football to their own versions of what they call football,
even exoticizing the world's most popular team sport as soccer.
Both teams drifted further away from World Cup contention,
where even exiting the group stage is a massive win for either nation.
But to England, proper football still reigns supreme.
If you were born when England last won the World Cup, you celebrate your 60th birthday this year.
Now, it is possible this is the year this bleak streak is finally broken.
When, as wishfully expressed in Cups past and present, footballs indeed coming home.
When English people can finally celebrate it being all over, it is now.
But more likely, and as defeatist Brits may have already faded themselves to accept,
the Cup will prove elusive, as yet more lifetimes end, having spanned cradle to grave,
never having witnessed England win the greatest prize in sport, or sports, whatever.
Also, we ate some pizza in Italian beef.
This week on Do Boys, it's coming home.
Pizza, at least, with Gino's East.
Welcome to Do Boys, the podcast about chain restaurants.
I'm Nick Tiger Wiger, along with my co-host,
Crustiano Ronaldo, the Spoon Man, Mike Mitchell.
Got it. Soccer reference.
It's a reference to proper football.
Mitch. Tis the season, in honor of the World Cup, here's a few rows based on a few of the tournament stars.
This fucking bullshit.
I've also included the real name and nation in case Weiger or Mitch are unfamiliar with the most famous athletes in the world.
Leonel Messi, like Leonel Messi from Argentina, very famous.
There's no change.
There's no change, but they've changed the I to a Y.
I guess Lionel Messi with a Y would be how I could deliver it for clarity.
Lionel Messi with a Y.
That's you doing punch out.
Punch sideways, maybe.
It still sucks.
Yeah, it's so bad.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the inspiration for the roast that was used.
Silly man Mbapé for Killian Mbapé from France.
That's just kind of nice.
That is funny.
You are a silly man.
You can't say you're not a silly man.
Yeah, that's true.
Hey, I think all of us on the panel are silly.
I think that's a reason why we come to Hollywood in a way.
It's true.
There's so many.
I'm not going to do all these.
There's just too many.
I'll do a couple more.
Snorling Holland for Erling Holland from Norway.
Hey, we all like Erling Holland.
Big tall Viking guy, that huge fucking hog.
He's the reason that Munch Madness is delayed one day.
Well, I mean, this will be in the aftermath of it, but I think it was a big of
I mean, I guess I will just say this on the Munch Madness to.
Yeah, I don't care.
People are coming at me for it.
Why are they coming at you?
Because they think that I wanted to reschedule to watch the soccer.
NERDS.
It's you who wants to reschedule.
I do want to reschedule, but not just so I can watch it.
I will watch it.
It's a huge part of the reason.
No, not a huge part.
That's fucking bullshit.
The Deiast doesn't even believe your ass.
I mean, I like, hey.
I'm watching all of these games.
The question is whether Wiggs wants to watch it.
I do want to, but.
I do believe you wants to watch it.
But I also agree there are so many people that watch these World Cup games.
Yeah.
I think it's a hard thing to counterprogram.
It was not a huge sporting event that happens every four years.
If this was like a game in the NBA finals,
I'd be like, not great to be programmed against it,
but we can do it.
Get played goes to Japan.
We have to push the end of Much Madness.
Yeah.
Then it comes to the same day, 7-Eleven as the same day as Norway versus whoever gives a fuck.
What significance is 7-Eleven, England, Mitch?
England versus Norway.
That's a huge match.
I hate both the countries.
By the way, there's Jude Smellingham, Jude Bellingham,
from England, speaking of England.
That was another one. Dofam 4L.
Stevie from Chicago.
The trolls live in Norway, first of all.
I don't think that's true.
Trolls are from Norway.
Yeah, but I don't think they live there.
They don't actually live there.
That's where they're from.
That's maybe where the legend is from.
And you like the English who oppressed my fucking people?
No, I mean, they certainly...
Old Norse and Germanic roots.
What's that?
Old Norse and Germanic roots.
So that's an element, yeah.
I was looking up the trolls band together.
I think that's...
We had to fucking...
The English, obviously, the scourge of the world
for several centuries of colonization.
The Sun never sets on the English Empire,
the British Empire, because they emissorated so many people,
including the Irish.
It was very unfair.
It's true.
I'm in favor of it.
Thanks, Wags.
Yeah.
About time you made that stance.
We got a good one in the chamber today.
We got a good episode.
We got a good one in the chamber, Mitch.
Roast at Birdfuck.com.
I do want to remark
Trump curse hit twice
Because he cursed the Knicks
He caused the only Knicks loss
Yes
And he cursed USA
And he cursed USA
These things come in threes
Well who's gonna curse next
It's gonna curse the doughboys podcast
When we're up for an I-heart Media Award
Oh no
You're gonna lose out on best food podcasts
To the fucking gastronauts
Does him cursing the country
Not count as a third
I guess that counts
I guess that counts
I guess so I'm using this clipboard now Mitch
I'm trying to get off of the devices
I'm talking with our guests before
By the way, our guest is welcome to speak.
We haven't formally introduced you, but you can, I should have said this before the show.
You can chime in if you like.
I am so excited to be.
You know what?
I was testing myself because it's so hard for me to be quiet.
And I was like, let me just, let me wait till they intro me.
Let me wait until it's so hard for me to be quiet.
I got so many opinions on soccer.
I got so many opinions on the Knicks.
Oh, I love it.
And I got, I got an alternate take on Trump.
I'm joking.
Oh, boy.
No, I don't.
I don't have anything new to say about him.
Wax wanted to start the day with a prayer for Mitch McConnell, didn't you, Wiggs?
Yeah, I mean...
He was a stroke?
I don't know, he's fucking dead, I think.
Is he dead?
I assume he's been dead, and they're just, like, weekend at Bernie's him, but who fucking knows?
Sounds like this podcast when Wags kicks the bucket.
Prop him up in that chair over there.
He's an AI voice.
No one will notice.
So, I'm using this clipboard now.
I was talking with her guest about how, you know, we both got the analog watches.
For me, it was about getting away from the Apple Watch, because I get too many fucking devices.
I'm trying to get away from the iPad, so I've been using the clipboard.
Today I grab my clipboard, but there's a note that's handwritten on it,
which I assume is from Amelia, because it's a kind of thing Amelia would write.
And it just says, I'll read it verbatim.
Jackass the podcast, Big Hairy Pussy, one thought.
What?
Jackass the podcast, Big Harry Pussy.
What the fuck are you talking about?
So that's what it said on a note that was on my clipboard.
So I was like, I was like, Amelia, what is this mean?
Is this for us?
And she was like, it's a segment, but then she was fucking with me.
It was not.
I got some context from the head gum intern, Ryan.
Again, the only person who is here, other than the doughboys and their staff and her guests.
Okay.
But the head yum intern holding down the fort solo, I'm sure everyone else was in here working long shifts.
We just got in.
We just got in late.
That's probably what happened, right?
I love my podcast and company.
I love my podcast and company.
Right.
No, yeah.
And we get it.
We're burning the midnight oil, Mitch.
It's after 5 p.m.
as we're starting this episode.
So, of course, this place is completely cleared out.
Back in the content minds for us, Wags.
That's right.
I was worried.
I thought maybe Jackass Harry Puck.
I was like, is this something that I said, is this my podcast?
And I don't have a podcast.
But I assume maybe this is a title that I said I want it to have as a podcast.
So Ryan, the intern explained to me that that was what I guess is apparently currently on the headgum marquee.
Jackass the podcast, Big Hairy Pussy.
Oh.
Interesting.
Outside.
Outside.
So, like, children are walking by reading that.
Yeah, I guess so.
Oh, wow.
I mean, it's Silver Lake.
These kids are been 12 years old drinking at Seco.
Yeah, they've been fucking bottles of wine.
I did.
I got a drink at Seco last month with, uh...
This is a cool wine bar that's across.
Yeah, and it's like, it's a wine bar.
So I was like, okay, this would be chill.
And literally, like, fucking like a group of 18 year olds walk in.
I was like, I can't do this.
No.
I can't fucking be in here.
That's, that's.
Too much.
Children.
I don't want the kids around.
Give me a wine bar with, you know, normal people.
Right.
People that could pay their bills.
I don't need these cool kids around.
These stranger things kids are taking over Hollywood, why, because they're all over the place.
There's no way I'm saying that a 20-year-old kid.
Actually, that might not be true.
There's probably some cool-ass kids out here.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I don't think you become cool around.
An L.A. Cerely 20-year-old?
25 is when you can become cool.
I don't think any of these people are cool, but I think they are perceived.
You can rent a car?
25 is when you become cool.
I don't know.
I think people are cooler, younger than that.
You're wrong, though.
You know who I think's cool?
The kids going in a Home Depot,
putting garbage cans on people's heads,
hitting him with a stick,
and then the guy takes this fucking garbage can out,
and then the kid puts a garbage can in his hand,
so then the guy thinks that garbage cans
are falling out of the sky.
Those kids are cool.
That's good, clean fun.
Is that a thing that,
is that like a social media prank?
Yeah, it's fucked up.
Jesus Christ. These kids are fucking bad, bro.
These kids are, these kids.
I got out the prank game at the right.
time. I'll tell you that. I'd be dead.
Come by HeadGum Studios and get
your spanking from the dough boys.
The line's going to be around the block.
Bear bottoms only.
Emma's back, Mitch.
Emma's back and Gemmy was going
and Gemmy's back as well. She's going
bark crazy when I walked. Yeah, she was so excited.
We had, we had
kind of chilled out when you came, almost like when a dog
sees a Terminator or something.
We had a couple of episodes
we did with minus the
two-thirds of the dough girls.
But Emma is back, and we got some context
because on our episode with David Wayne that came out recently,
we snacker-wacked Fishwife Tinned Fish.
Emma, unbeknownst to us,
you went to high school with the Fishwife co-founder?
Yes, Becca Millsine and I went to high school together.
She was in my sister's class.
So her and my sister were good friends.
And I texted my sister today,
and I said, I'm going to slide into Becca's DMs
and see if she wants to come on the pod.
And she said, hell yeah.
Wow.
I DM slid the fish wife.
We'll see what happened.
I need to get myself a fish wife.
Yeah, you do.
Kind of like the opposite shape of water sort of scenario.
A scaly lady?
I think you should get, I think you should get fish head on top, lady legs on bottom.
Sort of a reverse mermaid.
I had a thought along those lines.
Can I say it?
Hell yeah.
You know what?
Merman Borat says?
My fish wife.
Oh boy.
Nice.
That fucking crush.
Let me tell you what.
Let me tell you what.
I did not know David Wayne was.
on this podcast.
Yeah.
Is he listen to this?
I don't know.
I don't think he does.
What the fuck?
You were so quick to answer that.
I'm just assuming.
I mean, listen to that.
That's a big guest.
That's a big guest.
That's a big guest.
Well, David, if you're listening, I wrote a feature and I'd love for you to direct.
This is a formal offer.
Wow.
How about that?
Reach out to my people.
If you're too slow, we got to move on, buddy.
No, you're busy.
We're busy too.
We can't be sitting around for a star to come around and say yes.
Are the dope boys Hollywood movers and shakers?
Absolutely.
I think so.
I like the little shimmy you did.
It was a moving of chicken.
Can you imagine if it happens through this?
I mean, that would be amazing.
I can just text them right now.
People book things through the doughboys other than the dough boys.
So that's great for them.
I did a Walker Wiggle.
Antoine Walker.
He had his, remember.
Oh, yeah.
Walker Wiggle.
I love that.
I actually love that.
They used to do that in Bay 2K.
I would score with him just so that you can do the thing.
You know, a Celtics great.
love them. Goodbye to Jalen Brown. I can't even
talk about it. I've been depressed for a full week.
You're saying because now it's like,
who cares? No, I don't care. You talk about whatever.
I was like, we just don't anything to get into it.
What do you mean? We don't have to, we don't want to get into it.
You could, if you want. Your fans care about basketball?
Yeah, I think our fans, we have a lot of Sporto fans. I think we have a
surprising number of Sporto fans. They also complain
anytime we do talk about sports, it is.
But what else is there to say about it? It's just
a weird move. You guys got a bunch of draft
capital. Now you lost to start. You guys
were competitors and now you're not.
I think that we still will be competitive.
Now, now with Paul George.
Well, you got Tate and we should bond in Chicago and Boston should bond over their hate for New York.
Fuck New York.
See, I like New York because I lived there and it was fun and I went to many Knicks games.
Hey, there you go.
That's great.
I like New York.
We haven't had a real, the Bulls have been so bad for so long, but the rivalry has been dead between Chicago, New York since the 90s.
So I just showed to the city.
they got fibs they got derrick rose they got joe keem noah taj gibson this is the old bulls team
and i'm going to free games i love the nicks game i love the nicks going the garden's the most
magical place in the world but i'm a bull's fan number one i should have been one game at the garden
and i uh i did love it it was great it's incredible it's a great why would you not get married
there shout out to my boy kelsey i wish i could team up with this uh the rodman spurs jersey
guy that shit was hilarious i wish it made me and him he's my don't
I'm Diddy Kong and I'm just a few feet behind him and we're fucking destroying New York City together.
Just beating the fuck out of everybody.
If you don't know what this is, go on Instagram right now.
Stop listening to this.
No, don't do that.
Don't do that.
But it is these videos, it's a guy wearing a Dennis Rodman, San Antonio Spurs fan,
fighting 500 Knicks fans by himself and winning.
It's incredible.
I would been right.
This was a few feet behind him doing cartwheels occasionally into people like Diddy Kong.
We would have fucked up the entire city together.
That show was sick.
I would follow Rodman Spurs jersey guy into fucking hell and back.
It was in New York.
There's in a train station, right?
Well, the garden goes into the train station.
Oh, okay, okay.
So it might have been, he might have been at the game and been like exiting now.
He was a little walking.
He was a little walking 9-11.
He was fucking beautiful.
It was fucking beautiful.
Someone in a Spurs jersey showed up.
I will say that that was like all those like dumb ass Nix young kids like beating up people in Spurs.
Jersey's like beating somebody up in a spurs.
Like beating up a fan because that's,
we gotta, we gotta, we gotta get beyond that.
Yeah, get out of that.
We gotta get up.
Robin Spurs guy, I will,
I'll be your number two if you'll take me.
I love you.
He was,
he was,
uh,
true hero,
Wags.
Um,
I'm,
I'm happy for the Knicks.
I think it's great.
I think it's great for the city in New York.
It's been a long,
long,
long dry spell,
53 years.
And guess where Jalen Brunson
played high school ball,
Chicago suburbs.
How about that?
Oh, so you're happy for Trump,
a huge Knicks fan.
I don't give a shit.
His ass was sleeping at the game.
He doesn't give a fuck.
He came to one game.
They lost by 30 points because he was there.
His hand got all fucking purple.
Yeah, he fell asleep.
His fan...
The Knicks fan base, mostly Italian, love Trump.
We've talked about.
It's not mostly Italian.
What are you talking about?
Oh my God, that Nick's fan base.
Mostly Italian Trump fans?
98%.
Watch the NBA, maybe the Yankees.
What are he talking about?
What do you got against Italian?
What do you got against Italian?
Oh, I got a lot of different.
Oh, my God.
Oh, man.
What is the three things that Italians love?
Let me tell you what, you don't come after Italians.
We're not even allowed in Airwine.
I don't want to hear your shit about Italians.
It's meatballs.
Sunday gravy.
Sunday gravy.
Christopher Columbus.
And Donald Trump.
Those are the three things that Italians love more than anything else in the world.
The Italian dry force.
Well, I'm only half.
I'm only half.
Amelia's also only half.
And you're a Henry Hill.
You're half Italian, half Irish.
Mitch is 100% Irish.
But we were discussing on the Do Boys text thread that this is a little discussed bit of ethnic heritage if we want to get to race science on the podcast, which I think we should.
Which you knew this was going to happen sooner or later.
It's World Cup Week.
It's World Cup week.
Yeah, I've certainly talked about being Estonian before, but I have not talked as much about my mom's side being Norwegian.
Emma is also Norwegian.
So there is a big Norwegian aura amongst the Doe Boys crew as well.
We're Vikings.
Yes.
You're a Viking?
I guess so.
Hey, buddy.
You can't see this dude out at sea?
I would row the shit out of a fucking boat.
I'd be so good rowing.
I'd think that you would like the boat part of being a liking.
I would love the rowing.
I'd be so great at that.
I think it would be fun.
I get seasick, so my ancestors are embarrassed by my presence, but I'm there just barfing.
I'm chumming up the water, you know?
Do you think that you would do all right in that, in that error?
My big thing is that I have...
The pillaging and stuff like that I don't think you would be good at, which is a good thing.
You're a good person.
I'm, I have bad ice.
Well, this is the things you're going to remember.
I think he could do it if you had to.
Yeah, I could absolutely do it.
You'd be a great pillager.
No, I could, I could turn off that moral switch in my brain for survival at any point.
Yeah.
But I was just going to say, my issues would just be health-related.
Like, I've got, like, really bad eyesight.
And so, and I've got, like, really, I've got asthma.
Those, I would probably just die in childhood.
Probably be a sickly kid.
And then they'd, like, you know, throw me off a mountain or whatever the fuck they did.
Yeah.
Back there.
I agree with that.
I do.
I think the Vikings maybe just, like, put their kids out at sea or something.
Yeah, drown them in a river.
Yeah.
If you drew a bear, when the bear's eating you, then they fucking attack the bear with sticks and kill the bear.
That's kind of, that's, kind of sweet, actually.
Yeah.
Get the brunch on the beer.
I saw a bear in Yellowstone on our road trip with its babies, with its cubs.
They're terrifyingly large.
Wait, what do you, as you saw a bear.
And they're in its cubs.
Scary.
Don't want to go anywhere near that.
That's wild.
I want to go near the bear in Chicago.
Was it the one in Yellowstone?
Hell yeah.
There you go.
Some integration there.
I like that.
Yeah, this is one instance of integration the doughboys approve of.
Synergy, I should have said.
Was it a black bear?
It was in a black bearer or was it a grizzly.
And I was not close enough to tell the difference.
Man, stay where from the...
Wait, which state was this in?
This was in Yellow Suns in Wyoming.
Isn't they say if it's brown, lie down?
If it's black, right back.
Let me tell you.
If it's white, say good night.
The difference between the black and the brown are so,
small that there's no way in the woods
when you are confronted with a bear, you're going to sit there and be like,
that's brown, that's black. It's basically
the same thing. If a bear runs up on me, I'm making
it laugh. I'm making
that motherfucker laugh, and he's
laughing at my Mike Tyson impression.
We're good to go. He's laughing
at me. We're good.
It's me and the Robin Jersey guy. I think we're good
to go. We're going to take down that fucking bear together.
We're going to beat the shit out of it. I got really into the show
alone during pandemic, and
there's a, there was a, like, an episode
that's the first episode of the season,
everyone's being introduced.
This one guy was like in Iraq War veteran.
He was like, if a bear comes up at me, that bear's going to be scared.
And then like episode one, he's there.
And like a bear shows him like, I'm out.
And he just like immediately taps out and calls, gets on the radio.
He said, I'm out.
I'm going home and making sourdough.
I got an IPA brewing.
I got a bucket of IPAs brewing in the basement.
Nope, no, nope.
We're zooming.
We're playing a bingo on Zoom.
If a bear comes out to me, you know what I'm doing.
Stripping down, joining it.
There you go.
Just walking out into the woods with it.
I think that it would maybe be confused.
Yeah.
He'd walk me into the family.
Oh, you're a little nasty.
He's going to fuck the bear.
He's going to fuck the bear.
My boy, fucking Mitch fucking a black bear.
Let's go.
I'll pay to see that.
I bet you can rule 34.
I don't give a shit.
We know Mitch is romancing Halson and Baldur's Gate.
Yeah.
Orsteed druid who can turn into a bear.
Of course.
My boy Mitch, 69, went a bear in the woods.
Let's go.
Can you imagine?
Get some fan art of that.
Now, that I would watch during COVID.
Mitch, you get a drop to play.
I'm going to hit him with a drop.
Yeah, I was like a sprinter, and then I tore my...
No, sprinter.
Sprinter.
Sprinter.
Sprinter.
Spinter.
Spinter.
Sprinter.
Sprinter.
Sprinter.
Sprinter.
Sprinter.
Sprinter.
Spinter.
Sprinter.
Sprinter.
Sprinter.
Sprinter.
Sprinter, Sprinter, Sprinter, Sprinter, Sprinter.
All right.
Kept it simple.
It kept it simple.
I liked it.
What was that?
That was a drop.
My bad.
It's kind of a fixture of the podcast, which solicits them from the fan base, and people
could construct these audio collages using clips from the show.
I love that.
That's a lot of fun.
You know what that reminded me of the last time I was here?
Do you remember Wayne Brady was walking by?
Yeah.
And I freaked out.
And I was like, wait, what the fuck is Wayne Brady doing here?
And then they hit me up to do his podcast, like, the next, like,
wow.
A few weeks.
And then I'm in there with Wayne Brady.
Wayne Brady, just, we're doing an improvised podcast.
This motherfucker breaks out into a song, and it was like, good.
And I was like, this is crazy.
And I'm just sitting there like, I hope I don't have to sing.
And obviously, they made me sing and it was bad.
Yeah.
You were do musical improv at any point?
Yeah, in Chicago.
Like, I did, I did, I had like a free, I had, I did an internship at
second city and you get like free classes and so I was like already did the conservatory program and I was
like I've done everything there so I was like should I just do musical improv is a joke like not a job or like
do something to like something that like actually scares me and I did it and it was actually really
fun wow and then like there's like five levels and I was like all right peace guys I'm quitting like I just
was like messing around I'm like I have an awful voice and after the second class the whole class
the whole class came to me and was like,
hey, we heard that you're quitting,
but we don't want you to, we need you.
We all agreed to pay for the rest of your classes.
And I was like, no, I'm getting them for free.
I don't want to do this anymore.
But I thought it was so sweet
that I just kept doing the classes with them.
What an incredible gesture.
And they were just like,
they were like not people
that you would imagine me hanging out with.
They were just like kind of like musical theater nerds.
But I don't know what you imagined me hanging out
with like a bunch of fucking,
cartel members and mobsters.
But basically, they were so sweet and they were like great.
And by the class show, by the end of the class show, the class, like, people peeled off.
But it was just a bunch of, like, women and then, like, two or three guys.
So I was in, like, every sketch.
And I was, like, the punchline of every sketch because my voice was, like, bad.
So I'd be, like, the funny part.
That's great.
It was actually awesome.
It was so fun.
Wow.
Is that crazy?
Do people give a fuck about that?
I loved it.
I loved hearing it.
I cared.
Thanks.
Maybe you'll sing again today.
Maybe you'll sing again today.
God, I can't even take myself to jump in.
I can't even.
It's not against you guys.
I have to be so warmed up to just like sing.
Yeah.
My voice sucks.
We were never asked to do the Wayne Brady podcast, and now I believe it is dead.
It's canceled.
What happened?
I think it moved to head gum Riad.
Was it not getting numbers?
I don't know what the details were.
Like Wayne Brady, a lovely man when we interacted with him.
I feel bad.
I feel bad.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
He was dressed like a minion, remember?
Oh, yeah.
Was that when you were here?
Did he enter the studio dressed as a minion?
I think he was.
Was it not?
I don't know.
That might have been a different guest.
I think you're doing a bit.
Oh, no.
He really was dressed like a minion.
But I feel bad.
I didn't share my episode, so I'm like, it didn't do well because I was like, I can't
let people hear this.
Yeah.
I was bad on it.
That might have been part of it.
People might have just been self-conscious about sharing them
singing and doing improv. It's very vulnerable.
Also, by the way...
He's great, though.
Lovely man.
If we couldn't share a podcast where Nick and I were bad,
there'd be no...
There would be no doughboys.
We wouldn't release any episode because we're constantly
horrible. And I'm sure you were funnier.
You were funny. You were funny.
I hope so. Jesus Christ.
You know what? Can we plug the podcast?
Listen to that. Listen to...
No, don't. Please don't plug that.
Let's...
Still online.
Don't. Don't.
It was the Mary Holland episode where he was...
Of course, Mary Holland was here.
Mary Holland, yes.
Shut out.
Hey, dough boys.
I'm not really sure what the point of this drop is,
but I thought it was funny the way Nick said sprinter on the recent episode with Lissa Lumpiris.
This is my ode to that.
All the rest.
I know this.
Joe Bastion.
Liz was lovely.
I'm very sorry.
Anyone who has like a skill like that, I'm like sprinting, that's unbelievable.
Yeah.
We talked with Pat Regan recently.
Pat was a distance runner.
That's right.
So it's just like when, I don't know, I don't know.
I was never an athlete.
I like fitness.
I like working out, but I was never like a...
You like fitness.
Yeah, I like working out.
It's fun.
I love working out.
Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
It's best.
I haven't pumped iron in a long time.
It is, that is true.
It is good for your brain.
You're like going on a walk?
That's something.
That counts.
I gotta get back and do it again.
I'll go to walk with you.
Yeah.
If you can edge, if you can edge,
if you masturbate but you're edging the whole time and you get an hour in,
that'll burn like 70 calories.
That's pretty good.
There you go.
Parman.
That's also very long.
I'm sorry, guys.
I actually don't talk like that.
I'm just trying to get some laughs.
David already responded.
He said, okay, yes.
Wow.
Is this a joke?
No.
Don't fuck with me.
Is he, does he know who I am?
Well, maybe.
I just sexed him.
And he said, okay, yes.
What did you say?
Carmen Christopher is on the pod, and he says he is a script.
He wants you to direct.
Don't fuck with me.
That's crazy.
Matchmaker.
Time.
Time for an email.
connection.
Yeah, I'll put you guys on an email
together.
There you go.
Could you imagine?
She needs associate producer.
He would be so good for him.
He has no idea who I am.
He might, I don't know.
Why wouldn't he know who you are?
He's in tune with a comedy scene.
He is in tune.
Let's get it going.
I'm out of here.
I got shit to do.
I got to punch this script up real quick.
You're not out of here.
You're in fact returning to the podcast
from the new season of the bear.
And the new movie never changed.
Now streaming on Hulu.
Carmen Christopher is back.
Hi, Carmen.
Hey, thanks for having me.
I'm so excited to be here.
This is my favorite podcast.
Oh, we're just getting started, dude.
You got to lock in for another 90 minutes.
I'm fucking in.
This is my fucking shit.
I, like, did this a year and a half ago, and I'm like, I need to get back on.
Please book a movie.
Please book a movie so I can come on here.
And here we are.
You will come on anytime.
You don't need to have a reason to promote something.
Oh, great.
Whatever.
But you can just come on on.
That's a good rule, though.
You have to have a movie to come on, Doe Boys.
I think that would maybe really shrink our guest pool.
And that would rub the audience, the working class audience you guys have.
Yeah, it's true.
I don't know.
There's a strong working class audience that we have.
We have a lot of.
We do.
We have a lot of, I wasn't, I wasn't.
We had a lot of mail carriers, a lot of people who work at, work service jobs.
Some truckers?
A lot of, yeah, we have truckers.
We have janitors.
God bless all them, custodians.
We got someone who, we have people who ride the rails.
And I don't mean hobos, although God bless the hobos out there who are listening.
It's true.
Like we've got people who work on the railroad systems.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's right.
A lot of fun.
I got my boy Greg Worsley listening to this.
What's up, Greg Worsley?
Yo, Greg, you guys would love Greg.
Warzone.
Greg Worsley.
We were in the I.O. Improv scene together.
Oh, that's fun.
And we would go to his place and get so high after classes and shows.
And then he would take us to Jewel Osco, buy a bunch of tombstones, just all types of shitty food.
And we just eat it all night.
It's like four in the morning.
every day.
That's a dream
come true.
Man,
I've got to
improv scene.
I haven't had
a tombstone
in a while.
That's a,
where do you stand
on frozen pizza?
The next one might be literal.
I will say straight up.
I miss the joke.
Fuck me.
Would you say?
I said his next one
might be literal.
He's gonna die.
My premature death.
I hope not.
Yeah.
No, me too.
I think frozen pizza is a legit
home run in.
Yeah.
And tombstones are good.
I like tombstone.
Home run in I've had
before.
do like home running. Is that a Chicago one?
Yep.
Yep.
I don't know if I've had home running.
I was always a Red Baron guy and a Tombstone guy.
I had a DeJorno phase, but I feel like DeJorno fell off.
Maybe I'm wrong there.
I thought the Red Baron.
You know what I love?
Red Baron.
And they sent it, I think they sent a couple of taverns style, not to step on it, but
Paizanos.
Remember they said?
Oh, sure.
Paizano sent some, some.
I like Paizano's.
What happened to Paizanos in Chicago?
Is it still happening?
I don't know.
I was, there was, I used to eat Paizons in Chicago.
Okay.
That was in like Brookfield or something.
But Pisano's I never really messed with.
But I'm sure it's good.
I...
So much pizza.
Let me tell you a little something.
I went to...
When my dad was sick, we went to Chicago.
And I've been before with birthday boys.
And let me stop you.
I'm sorry.
Oh, thank you.
He passed away.
He passed away years ago now.
No, no, no.
That's fine.
It's fine.
He's got...
But one of the last, one of our last trips, we went to the motherland.
We went to Ireland.
But we also want to...
I thought you were going to say Chicago's the motherland.
We went to Chicago, too.
We went and you know what?
Funny enough, why, because that was 15 years ago, I think, this July, because we were there for the 4th of July.
We went out on the, is it the Wendella.
The Wendella?
Is that what it is?
Is that the...
The boat?
Yeah, the boats, yeah.
Yeah.
We were out on the, on the lake when the fireworks were going off.
It was great.
That's beautiful.
That was beautiful.
I don't know if it's the Wendella.
I've never been on it.
Is it the architectural tour?
Boat.
Yes.
Yeah, I believe so, yeah.
Okay.
I've been on boats many times in Lake Michigan
and it is like fucking awesome.
It's really beautiful.
It was great.
It was a great trip.
And you know what?
We did on that trip.
We did a Chicago pizza tour and I actually loved it was great.
What was the best one?
Good question.
Honestly, I think we started with the Paisano's Tavern Pie and it was really good.
But it was one of the great.
It was like one of like the famous.
We didn't do Piquads, which since then I'd say Piquads is my favorite.
I like,
I liked Pequods, but I'm kind of over it.
Because I, in my show I got in Chicago, I did a show at the hideout,
and I got the whole audience to chant Pequods, and we tagged them and everything.
They didn't even say hi or thanks.
They can get fucked up.
Luminati's over Pequods every day.
And if you work at Pequods and you're listening to this, tell your boss, I'm not fucking with
your pizza, and I'm sending everybody to Luminati's.
Sorry, Pequods, you fucked up.
You shouldn't have fucked with me.
You shouldn't have fucked with them.
Should have gave me a free pie.
Spell P quads with a
P2 E's, yeah, P-P-Qa
urine quads.
Yeah, piss.
We're going to lose, baby.
It's a meat dish piss pie from P-quads.
I had a couple, I had lovely time at P-quods.
I had been twice.
Yeah.
But, yeah, I mean, like, a little saucy.
If they had, a little saucy.
I remember when we cut in the pizza
and the piss spilled out of it?
That was the big issue.
See, I like the piss.
Like, I'm hoping for some piss on my pizza.
So, like, to me, that was a nice surprise.
But it was very, very piss-drenched.
Yeah.
And for a lot of people, that's, like, off pudding.
Yeah, the last time I bit into it, a bunch of little ants went crawling all over my face, like hundreds of, I bit in hundreds of ants started crawling up my face and down my body.
More like ant quads, if you ask me.
It's fucking disgusting.
P and ant, p and ant.
Piss and ants.
Yeah.
I had a, maybe you should do some outsourcing with your ingredients over there instead of using piss and ants.
I feel like you should try something else, Wags.
I will say it was a little bit, like, because I had, like, I had some wings as well.
and my wings had actual wings.
And I tried to grab one and it flew away.
I was like, hey, where are these things going?
I was sitting at that table across.
I saw that.
I was like, this is unprofessional.
Next time, don't fuck with an old comedian, because.
You dumb idiots?
I can't believe your wings had.
Your wings had wings.
Yeah, it was really awkward.
It was really strange.
You were chasing it around the restaurant.
I was like, get back here.
I paid for you.
You know what I like?
No refunds.
There's a, have you guys had Rinalis in the city?
I've not, I, have I realized.
Well, I just one thing before we move on people from B-quads, I was, I was, it was, I had to go to the bathroom there, of course.
Like, you know, it's very heavy foods.
I had to go to the bathroom.
They just sign up there, we keep your turds.
Whoa.
What are you doing with them?
Yeah.
Amelia's house?
I heard they're putting them in the beat.
Well, it was, it was like Amelia's head saying it as a quote, but it was definitely like,
speaking on behalf of the restaurant.
Wait, can I get sued for this or no?
I don't know.
We're parody.
Fair use.
We're parody.
I took a piss of the urinal, and then when I left the bathroom, I saw that the urinal
emptied right into the sauce.
Why?
So it explains why.
It explains.
It explains why it's P-Quas.
Yeah, 100%.
Shouldn't have fucked with an all comedian over here.
Let's let's talk.
You were changing this subject, where you were moving.
Oh, well, no, I was ready to list every pizza I like in Chicago, but we don't have to do that.
The Chicago pizza tour was, and also, by the way, I think it ends.
ended with Gino's East, but the original
16. We could segue into that.
Is your hat intentionally a little
askew? Or was that a little?
Was that a little... Was that a little... C.C. Sabathia going on.
Oh, that's fun. I don't think I can pull it off.
You don't...
Oh, Miss New York doesn't know C.C. Sabathia.
Who's that?
He's a baseball player.
Get out of here.
He's got a chip. He's a Yankee at one point.
Oh, yeah, I know who that is.
Oh, shut the fuck out. He's got a World Series, right?
I think he does have a World Series. But after, I don't know.
I think...
Yeah, whatever.
We don't care.
Yeah.
He must...
If he won one, it was after the Sox won, because they didn't win the...
They lost the Diamondbacks in 2001.
Yeah, I don't care.
We were talking...
He won a World Series ring in 2009.
We don't care.
You guys, we don't care.
On the Yankees, sorry, so he did.
They won, they won.
We were talking...
We were talking, you know, since we're on the topic of sports, you did mention you have
some World Cup takes.
Are you a fan of World Cup Star?
This is actually crazy.
I did not start watching.
I think I'm similar to a lot of people.
This is my first time watching the World Cup.
Me too.
Like the last time I was really into it was the 99 women's World Cup.
And I've just like, I've been aware of it, but I'm always just like,
yeah, fucking whatever, FIFA's corrupt and I don't really watch soccer.
This cup, I got super into it.
I'm totally cup-pilled.
I'm in.
I'm in.
I watched my first soccer game like three weeks, a couple weeks ago.
And I was like, okay.
I'm in.
And then watch the France game on the 4th,
watch the Mexico game on Sunday,
watched the U.S. game yesterday.
I'm like, this shit's fucking fun.
It's so fun.
The Mexico-England game was like just an unbelievable sporting event.
That was cool.
I was just like absolutely.
This motherfucker had to move the fucking live show finale.
I'm not the old.
It's an economic decision because other people are going to choose to watch.
Sunday morning instead.
We're not doing it Sunday morning.
Other people are doing,
we're doing Sunday evening east time.
Sunday,
morning would be a funny time to do it. I would absolutely
do it Sunday morning. You try to.
Breakfast, breakfast with a dough boys. There's going to be
so many doughboys listeners. No, they're, no, they're fucking.
Yes, there are. No, there's, no, they're not. I know
there are because, this is because people who aren't normally
sports fans and people who also aren't normally soccer fans are watching.
Early night on Sunday. I'm going to yell at you again. Yeah, I don't want an
early eye on Sunday. I got to fucking work on Monday.
You don't want to watch the move it from the day. Yeah, I know, but
we could accommodate both of these things. It doesn't matter.
All these listeners are nerds and will always take your side. They like
Yikes because he's.
represents order to them or something.
It's that sort of...
They like conformity.
They don't like me.
I'm chaos.
No, they don't.
They don't.
They don't like you.
They don't like you.
They like you.
They like order.
They like homework.
These are the things our listeners like.
They like homework, soccer.
A couple people, but then they were saying that they like kissing up.
They like kissing up.
Fans love kissing.
Taxes.
I don't even look at the social media.
You're the person who looks.
And so you're looking for the negative comments fixated on you.
I'm sure.
I get negative comments.
You're just not like fixating.
Not enough, honestly.
Mostly come from me.
All right, come at me.
It can't be even with what you got.
They're mostly my posts.
Let's do a Wiger critique threat.
They're going to be like, we hate Wagger.
He probably fuck so hard that they all, that he probably fucks so hard that a girl
doesn't want to have sex with anybody else after.
We hate him.
I would fucking gross my ass.
That's what they're saying about.
I would hate if someone said something like that.
He's fucking so hard.
I got a favorite player now.
Please.
Mbapé.
Bamba is amazing.
He's cool.
He's so cool.
Did you see that fucking that penalty kick he got?
Yeah, and this is the Paraguay game?
Yes.
It was the way he ran up and then just stutter stepped and walked so slow.
And then the guy just went flying and he click it there.
And then when he runs away, he just goes like this.
Making fun of the guy.
I was like, that's my favorite player.
That guy's cocky.
I like him.
He was great.
And also Paraguay was like kind of trying to bully France.
the whole time and he was just going
and fuck you guys
and didn't their president
say the most like racist shit recently
is it a woman?
Diddy? I don't know.
Is it a woman?
Did you say Diddy is the president
of France?
I don't think Diddy is the president of France
or Paraguay.
Yo and Diddy if you're listening
in jail bro,
I love some of your music.
Diddy?
I know it's gonna be tough
to get people to your parties
when you get out of prison
and Wiger and I are open.
It'd be available.
I got a lot
of baby oil.
I hear Piquads is catering.
Oh shit.
Let's go.
Fucking quixies.
So you, like,
Mbabe, like,
I,
we got,
we're all early Holland-pilled.
You know,
did you see the,
because I guess a lot of fans
are fixated on him.
I don't know if you're aware
of the term catching print.
It's something Amelia has informed me on it,
which is like visible,
um,
male genital.
you through layers of clothing.
And Erling Holland has some photos.
I sent one to the group chat of just like,
just catching some serious print.
Interesting.
Yeah.
This guy's wielding a real,
real cool.
I try to Google Mbop and I got the Hansons.
I got,
I got Hanson brothers.
There's a trailing E.
My stand-ofs,
if you're into catching print,
I'm catching crazy print in my stand-up special
live from the Windy City on YouTube.
Wow.
And there's comments in the comment section about it.
But honestly, the real truth behind it is I think my pants were just like kind of bulging.
Well, don't.
Do you have to say that publicly?
No, I'm just playing.
My shit was like, I was so hard doing this show.
I was like actually like rock hard.
I put the trail of the Hansons keep coming up for this mother.
It's M.
B, A, P, P, P, E with an accent on it.
Yeah.
I guess Volcher wrote an article.
Volcher wrote an article.
The first stand-up special where the guy has a boner for the full hour.
I got him.
But now I have to see catching print.
Well, I'll look at, I'm going to Google yours next.
But Mbapé, how do I get this?
Catching print?
Well, we were talking about early Holland.
Mbapé might be catching print as well.
Also, by the way, I don't know if we're pronouncing his name correctly.
Is the M. Volk vocalized?
Or is it like a DJ Banga where you don't say the M?
I have no idea.
You don't say it's DJ Benga?
I always thought it was DJ Banga.
The M was silent.
I had no idea.
Look, we don't need to get in.
Now we're all on our phones.
Well, no, I'm Googling Carmen Christopher catching print in live from the Wendy City.
And, um, 1997, Bob came out, the song.
Wow.
So the song is probably older than the man.
Probably.
That's wild.
My high school used to do a fundraiser called Stop the Bop where they would play and bop through the speakers in the school until they raise.
enough money to shut it off.
That's how much it's hated.
It was like, it's a fun song, but like if you listen to it for eight hours straight,
you want to kill yourself.
They were just playing this at the school?
Yeah, like through the PA speakers.
That's a fundraiser.
Isn't that wild?
My high school,
my high school used to do this thing where all the male teachers would catch print
while they were talking to the young girls.
And they all are now, they all are not.
Actually, I'm not even joking.
There's like two or probably three teachers.
that I had in school that are all now fired
because of being catching print type guys at school.
Do you remember when you're at school
and you're just trying to learn a year?
You're trying to read up on history
and you look up and your teacher's catching print
in the frontal classroom.
What the fuck, man?
Trying to learn AP.
I try to get a four or five
on my AP European history exam.
I just have to see your fucking hog
flopping around in your Bermuda shorts.
I'm trying to nap in class.
And I just can't because I'm so distracted by
this bet.
Is he going to catch print for more or less than 40 minutes?
What's the over, what's the over under?
So I'm going to stay up and see.
40 minutes is a good stretch to catch some print.
Yeah.
Especially on trying to learn about the alien sedition act, Wags.
A good poll.
John Adams, it was his big mistake.
Yo, if you're listening at home, if you're listening at home, don't forget, fuck smartless.
The other, right.
Our direct competitor.
Yeah.
JK.
JKK, I listened to it and I'd love to be on the show.
but there are direct competitors, so we have to give them a hard time.
Yeah, that beef is ongoing.
It is true.
Speaking of beef.
It is.
The doughboy's number one competitor is smartless.
That's what I've been saying.
But it's only number one competitor when I'm the guest.
Right.

Speaking of beef, we got to talk, we got to talk food.
Good segue, wags.
We can specifically talk about Gino's East, our chain for this week, but I do want
to hear your thoughts on, on, we've talked a lot about pizza, but like Italian
beef in general, because everyone thinks about like the Chicago pizza, the, Chicago pizza,
both tavern style and deep dish, your Chicago dog, of course, polarizing menu items,
but the Italian beef is kind of like the completes the trifecta.
Yeah.
And every time I've had an Italian beef, I've been delighted.
This is important to me, actually, because this is actually my favorite food growing up.
And, you know, the Italian beef is Chicago.
It seems like a lot of cities have their, like, their meat type of sandwich.
Like Philadelphia has the Philly cheese steak.
You can know, New York has the chopped cheese.
Chicago's version is, you know, the Italian beef.
And it's different.
It's very different.
It's thinly shaved meat.
And it's, you know, it's soaked in, you know, this gravy, this juice.
And it needs to have a nice French bread.
with some hot jardiner or you put sweet peppers on it.
There's like different variations,
but essentially the best one for me growing up
was Bona beef and Bona beef blew up and now they have-
Bona beef sounds kind of fancier.
It sounds like a classier beef spot.
I'm not sure if it is.
Yeah, well, no, it was just one spot
and then it kind of like grew and, you know,
went to different parts of the suburbs.
Bona means good in Italian and, you know,
I don't know if the quality is dipped off
the other locations, but that was always my number one choice.
And now there's all different types of places to get an Italian beef, and there's some places
that are popular that I don't think are even good.
And that have become touristy.
And I don't know if I want to dog on them, but, you know, I think, yeah, Italian beef,
when it's done right, is good.
And I think the Italian beef we just had right now, can I get into it?
Please.
Not very good.
Oh, no.
What a bummer.
Because I, this is that, and they think if we're talking about the regional,
meat-based sandwiches. I certainly, I think the one people will credit to L.A. is the French dip,
birth of the French dip. Filippe's or Coles. Coal's now shuttered, unfortunately. Filippe's
delightful. But, you know, that's kind of, I guess, this city's claim. I probably have
stronger opinions on French dips than I do on Italian beefs because I have so many fewer Italian
beefs. And I will say having this Italian beef today from Gino's East, I was like,
it wasn't pretty good. I just don't have a point of reference for which ones are
which ones are authentic. Huge, huge, huge issue.
Yeah, please. There was a, and honestly, it wasn't a user error. It was store error.
No, Gerdinera. Jardinera. Jardinera. There was no Jardinera. There was no Jardinera.
Jardinare. There's no Jardinera. We didn't, we didn't have it. And I think that that would have plused up the sandwich quite a bit.
You need that. It's essential. It gives you such a nice kick. See, that's another crazy thing is, like, people outside Chicago don't know that there's not Jardinare in every city. When I told my mom that she shipped me
some, which is nice. I brought some to the
Killing It Writers Room. People went nuts on it.
They put it on sandwiches and shit.
But also,
um,
my mom didn't know that they didn't have Italian beef outside of Chicago either,
which I actually didn't either when I was like,
wait, this is only here. You travel and you're like,
why isn't this everywhere? Because if it's done right,
it's good. But I'm surprised.
I'm not surprised, but wait,
did you like it as well?
I thought it was just okay. I had,
I had two items that I liked in the,
in the meal, which I have, which I have not, uh,
And for the listeners at home, you got to understand.
This is an L.A. Gino's East.
Yeah, let me give us some context for Gino's East since we're getting into it.
Gnos East was founded...
Did they not call it Gnos West at all or anything or no?
That would be an intro...
Calling it Gino's West because it's a West Coast outlet would be kind of a fun, a fun little
bit of their brand as.
They want the brand.
You got to have the brand.
Gino's East was founded in 1966 in Chicago by cab drivers, Sam Levine and Fred Bartoli.
That's fun.
And their friend, George Loverd.
Five locations in Los Angeles.
I'm sorry, five locations in Chicago as well as Los Angeles and Singapore.
I'd be interested how the Singapore outlet is.
We've never reviewed it.
And the original, I'll read this context.
We've never reviewed it.
Never reviewed it.
This comes from Alice May Redmond.
Quote, the original owners were Italian from Sicily and a first generation Italian-American,
but they didn't create the recipe for their signature deep dish.
It was developed by Alice May Redmond, a black woman from Mississippi who moved to Chicago during the Great Migration.
I guess this is an attribute.
Wait, wait, wait, can you go?
I'm sorry.
is the person that invented at Talibia
for Gino's eat. This is their
recipe for the deepish. It sounds like some real Italian
bullshit going on here from what I just heard. So I misread this quote. So this is
not attributed Alice May Redmond. Alice May Redmond is just the
subject of this quote. I don't know what the source is.
She was previously pizza chef at Pizzeria Uno for 17 years before
being hired at Gino's where she spent 29 years. Some food historians
credit her for creating deep dish as we know it. Okay. So there is an argument that
Alice May Redmond is the... A black woman. Yeah, from Mississippi.
pizza from Mississippi
that's incredible. How about that?
Famous for allowing their customers to write on their walls.
You've written on the walls there?
In Gino's or no?
I'm like trying to remember if I've
even been to Gino's east in Chicago.
It's kind of a touristy spot.
Yeah, that makes sense.
That's wild information.
Yeah, how about that?
And Italians, I'm sure, would love
to hear that.
I'm sure there's no Italian beef when they hear that.
She's part Italian, though.
Yeah.
Also operates a mail-order business where you can order
frozen pizzas and have them shipped overnight.
Now, Mitch, you're Mr. Slice.
So you certainly have a lot of pizza takes.
That's true, Igs.
And you're not sure if you've been to the Chicago location.
Have you been to the Chicago location?
On the pizza tour, that was the last stop.
Right. You mentioned that already.
Which is E's East was the last spot.
And I'm going to say this, actually really liked it.
Wow.
I really, really like.
And it was like so cornmealy and,
and like just like the best version of like on that pizza tour like that kind of the best version of like classic old like a or like what you think of deep dish pizza it was it was good did you have did you write on the walls do you remember I did not write on the walls but I did not write on the walls but I don't actually did write on the walls because I don't but I don't know if I don't know what the deal is but I do remember that the walls being covered are you like a like would you write like do like a bit on the wall or would you just do like a classic like Mitch was here.
Oh, sure.
What do you mean?
Like, would you do something funny?
Like, you know?
Don't have a cowman or something.
Yeah, or for a good time call and put like Kowalik's number there or something like that.
Sure, yeah, that's fun.
Yeah, yeah.
And then people are calling Kowalik being like, hey, man, I was so in Gino Ziz, you like to suck people off.
Yeah.
And he's like, no, it's not.
My friend was pulling a prank on me.
It's all okay.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I get it.
Anyway, I got to call waiting.
Hello?
No, my friend was playing a prank on me.
He's getting called all day.
No, I did not.
I didn't write for anyone to say.
suck a koalick off. I didn't write
like my name is Forrest Gump. I didn't write
Bartson's and stuff. I didn't do anything
like that. If anything, I probably wrote
like the Mitchels or
you know, my dad. Nick, I was there with my sick. Yeah, that's cute.
Nick, I was there with my sick dad. He doesn't want any of that Tom
foolery. He doesn't want that Tom Foolery. He's leaving behind
a fool son. You know what I mean? He wants
something. He's over there
tracing an outline of his dick on the hall.
I think I wrote, I think I don't remember to
vote, Mike Mitchell.
I think I wrote some sort of message like that.
That's nice.
But I genuinely did.
And you're right.
I think it is very much like a touristy trap.
But I remember being like going in there and it was like, oh, this is like one of the big ones and it's a tourist trap kind of vibe.
And then being like I did.
I liked the pizza.
Yeah.
It wasn't always.
I just think there's so much pizza in Chicago.
Every neighborhood has their spot.
Yeah.
And everyone has their own favorite spot.
And I don't think that it's.
necessarily bad but I can't remember like I like if I'm in Chicago that like I'm there's like
that's not even in my like top five choices of like what I're thinking of yeah you know but I don't
think it's bad if I was down the block and I needed something I'd grab it but also if I'm in the city
it's like there's so many the thing is the pizza's competing with the beefs it's competing with
the hot dogs it's competing with the other junk food so it's kind of hard for me to I don't
know too many Chicagoans who would pick Geno's east and if you are the Chicago and
get at me because
Luminaldi's is a big one.
Giadanos is the one that's lesser than Lumonitis,
right?
Lumilomalitis is like considered very good.
We've had them.
We've eaten almost all of them except for, I guess,
Geno Z's East is the one we haven't done.
Yeah, I haven't been to Geno Ziz, but I'm aware of its reputation.
I feel like Giordano's had its time where it was like bigger when I was younger.
And then Luminati was the same thing where they had like one location.
And then they just popped off.
People love Luminati.
So they opened up all these other locations.
But I will say,
the quality of Luminati's to me has not dropped off.
Wow.
I think Luminati is,
I think Luminati is my favorite deep dish,
not tavern style in Chicago.
Are you a Cubs or a White Sox guy?
Dude, this is the hardest question of my life
because now that I haven't lived in Chicago
for over 10 years,
I just want both teams to win.
I know that's crazy, but I just want the city to,
I want the city to be great.
Also, you're talking American League versus National League,
correct? So you can
kind of rue for both of them if you want to.
If it was a World Series and I had to pick, Cubs versus Sox, I might go Cubs just because my dad's family is Sox fans and I like to go against them, maybe.
When I was in Chicago 15 years ago, that July 4th weekend or week or whatever, we went and saw Cubs versus White Sox at Wrigley.
Yeah.
It was great.
That's fun.
It's nice that the rivalry is back.
The rivalry came back this year.
They're both in contention for a playoff spot.
and they played each other.
The socks beat them, I think, two to one.
But it's like the first, it was like kind of exciting.
Like people were watching it and talking about it in a way that was like,
we need this.
Yeah.
Chicago needs sports.
Yeah.
You got a ballpark food you go for.
I mean, it's always a hot dog.
Yeah.
You got to get a hot dog.
And, you know, in Chicago, you can get a Chicago dog at the state.
Well, you're putting your own fucking condiments on it.
Yeah.
Oh, I guess that's true.
Pain in the ass.
Getting mustard all over my fucking fingers.
But you can get a sport pepper and shit like that, right?
Like, you got the green, that neon green relish.
You got the stuff, you got the good stuff there.
Yeah, I mean, they better.
It's fucking Chicago, these pieces of shit.
Now they're charging for everything.
You can't fucking, dude.
Are you no ketchup guy?
Is that?
Here's my whole thing on ketchup.
If you like it, eat it.
Who gives a fuck?
That's what I'm talking about.
That's my boy.
We're gonna go, oh, you can't put ketchup on a hot dog.
Guess what?
I'll put fucking cake on a hot dog if I feel like it.
Hell yeah.
And if you come at me, this is a free country.
and that's why I voted for Kanye twice.
Chicago guy.
Just joking.
I don't vote for Kanye Chalov.
No, but I will like, okay, so.
Wait, you said wriggly.
I cut you off.
You were saying Ridley's gotten expensive.
Is that what you were saying?
Rigley used to be so cool.
When I was like in high school, we had a ditch day.
We'd go down to Wrigley Field.
We'd take the train in and we'd fucking get a pack of cigarettes and we'd sneak beers in.
You could sneak beers in.
Tickets were probably like,
probably get a ticket for like 15 bucks.
We all sat in like the bleachers.
What are we talking about?
We're talking marble reds, boy.
Or marble or marble lights.
When you're a young man,
you can handle the reds when you're young man.
Yeah, sure.
And we're drinking,
we're drinking beers on the train on the way down.
We're getting fucked up.
We're going, it's like 15 bucks,
like me and like eight friends.
And you're just in Wrigleyville
and it's kind of like a dump around it.
And now it's been so built up.
It's so corporate and hotel-y and like...
This is exactly what happened with the Red Sox, too.
It's such a shame.
I lived and then after, when I started doing improv in the city, we, me, you know, John Reynolds, Gary Richardson, we lived in Wrigleyville, our buddy, a couple other buddies.
We lived a block, a half a block from Wrigley.
And they was still kind of dumpy where people are out getting fights, getting drunk.
And I was in the garden unit.
And so there'd be day games and I'd be taking a nap and I would just hear like something on the window.
And it's like someone's like pissing on my window every day.
Because we were that close to Wrigleyfield.
People coming down the alley just pissing on my window.
Amiel's going to move in.
But it was so slow.
Guys wear a P-Quas uniform.
I had a friend who had an apartment, a garden apartment in Boston and Fenway and the same thing would happen.
And we would like jump off of their couch because the windows were like on the ceiling basically when you were in the apartment.
And we would scare the shit out of drunk people pissing on the window because we just like slap our faces to the window.
That's really funny.
It was a good time.
Damn.
But yeah, I don't know what the hell we're talking about this.
We're talking about, well, we land on pissing against a wall.
But I think that we were talking about was like the Wrigley neighborhood.
I have a question for you about a Chicago staple that I'm not sure was how established it was when you were living there.
But this was a place when we did our recent homestand in Chicago.
We did four shows there.
We did four different chains.
Red Hot Ranch is where we went to.
We had a great time at the Red Hot Ranch.
You ever have a meal from there?
I never even been there.
That was like my favorite.
It is newer, right?
My favorite chain.
I think it is newer, but it's from the, wait, oh, man, now I've forgotten the name of, it's not hot dogs.
It's, uh, no hot dogs.
It's from the, um, Wiener Circle?
Oh, we're, yeah.
It's from the Wiener Circle team, but it's like more of a, they've got hot dogs, but I think
it's more of a burger place.
Interesting.
I never heard of it, actually.
I don't know if I've ever been a Wiener Circle, which makes me sad.
The Wiener Circle, you go there, you ask for a chuck of milkshakes.
and then the person working puts up their shirt and they shake their breasts.
It's a lot of fun.
Yeah, the weener circle, they talk shit to you.
The weiner circle is a blast.
I know, and I had heard many stories about the weener circle.
It's also just like, it's pretty like, you know, it's like our version of like a bodega.
It's like, you know, you can get hot dogs like this at a lot of places.
Sure.
But I was going to show you a picture.
This is.
I have a little Justin Bieber.
there.
You maybe wrote that after going to the Weiner Circle.
Yeah, I'm not sure that'll stay on the episode.
Yeah, maybe you did.
Sorry.
That's a good looking hot dog. That's from Weiner Circle.
That's a great looking dog.
Can you just like describe, is that a split dog?
Is that two dogs in one bun?
That does look like two dogs.
That's a double dog right there.
It's a double dog.
How about that?
But it is Chicago style.
It's got the, it's got the pickle.
It's got the tomatoes.
It's got the bell pepper.
It's got the sea salt.
Yeah, we're rocking.
I like a good Chicago.
You don't think Bieber will give us even that just
one second of a clip.
I'm not sure if we can...
We're probably okay.
Bieber, you hating, bro.
You know I like your shit, though.
I love you, bro.
I love you, Bieber.
Here's where, you know where I have my best...
You know, where I have my best Italian beef?
Fortillos.
That was my favorite.
Portillos?
I'll tell you what.
Portillos?
Classic and fucking great.
Always.
The cheese fries, don't sleep on the cheese fries.
The fries we had today, Geno's East, garbage.
Those were really bad.
They were really bad. And you know what? I gotta say there's got, there may be with some travel. It got hit with a travel book. Well, here's the thing. It did. No, I agree. Nick, please. He got hit with a travel book. The first thing I wrote in my notes was bad fries because the fries were bad. But the things that traveled surprisingly well is their famous hand-rolled mozzarella sticks. Whole Milk mozzarella, Krispy Panko, Marinera, six sticks. They were jenga stacked, which is fun, you know, kind of like three and three, but the criss-crossed. I like the presentation of it. These things were big, it was like they cut off a, it. It was like they cut off a,
like a little nipple from a cow udder and toss it in the deep friar.
That's what it tasted like.
That's fucking disgusting.
I don't want to think about that.
That's what it was like.
Yeah,
I thought you were going to say like the finger off a giant.
You went with utter,
like you're amputating.
But an otter is filled with milk and then you toss it.
Oh, I see what you're saying.
You know what?
I retract the criticism.
Yeah.
And also the cow doesn't feel it.
The cow is like,
oh,
I didn't need that.
That was an extra one.
It was like a sore tooth.
Yeah,
thank you.
You relieved my pain.
Yeah.
You have pulled a thorn from the mighty lion's paw and now
I shall grant you one wish.
Oh, wow.
What are you wishing for?
Mottorough sticks were my favorite.
Utter.
Yeah, the mozzarella sticks were good.
You're wishing for an utter yourself.
You want an utter?
Hey, man.
It's working for them.
Mazzarella sticks better than pizza.
The mozzarella sticks were fucking great.
They said that they were their world famous mozzarella sticks.
You're all at home.
Like, what did he say?
Did I utter?
No.
The mozzarella sticks are better than the Gino's East
deep dish.
Have you had those mozzarella sticks in any other context?
Was this your maiden voyage with the mostic?
That was the only time I've ever had
mozzarella sticks in my life and I'm addicted.
No, I had those mozzarella sticks?
Yeah, the Ginozis one specifically.
No, I'm telling you, I don't even know
if I've had Ginozis in Chicago.
Wow.
Because you brought this chain to us,
and I knew of Ginozis again,
did not know it existed in an L.A.,
so I'm glad we're exploring it.
Well, I saw a, did you like Gino?
Yes, this is true.
Sorry, go ahead.
Mitch and I, we were at the club last couple weeks ago.
That's fun.
We were at the club.
Okay.
And I said, Mitch, I got to be on the pot.
Oh, I know, I was already booked.
I said, what are we eating, bud?
What are we eating?
And I said, let's do some Chicago shit.
Your fans love the bear.
I said, I said, I'm on it.
I said, let me do some research.
I said, let's do tavern style.
You wanted, you were craving tavern style pie.
But I also was like, I want you guys to have a good tavern style pizza.
What's your favorite tavern style pizza in all of Chicago?
I really like Orilios.
I'm talking like this.
Okay.
I really like Arilios.
Doing the Italian gesture.
Erileus is really good tavern style pizza.
I think that if I'm remembering correctly, when I lived in old town, there's a place called Rinalis.
That's really good as well.
There's a lot of good places.
But the tavern style pizza that I presented to you guys today was not even better than a home
running frozen pizza.
Wow.
You're being harsh on this.
Maroon.
Are you going to get in trouble?
No, I mean, I like it.
I like the hot takes.
I'm just like,
I'm a little surprised
because I was enjoying my meal,
but again,
I'm not coming from a place
of appreciating the authentic version.
The crust was like soft and buttery.
Like, it needed to be crispy.
It wasn't crispy.
It didn't feel even of a cook to me.
Feels like they put that shit in the microwave.
Wow.
I wrote down something before.
But this could just be the LA version.
Like, hey,
I'll go to Chicago and I'll eat Gino Ziz the next time in town in Chicago as long as it's
comps and then I'll do a little comparison.
Geno Z's hit me up and if it's good I'll come back on the pond and say it is.
But not Pequods.
They cleaned up, you know, when they went old corporate around Ridley Field that all the pissers,
the people who pissed on windows, they pushed them all into Pequots.
That's where they all went.
You kind of said that, but I said it again.
No, I liked it.
I liked the way you.
I wrote down something while we were eating because I said,
I don't want to just jump on what you think, but this is, this is what I wrote down.
You can see the timestamp here too, but this is what I wrote down.
He wrote this at 4.42 p.m. Tavern. It is usually on the same type of dough.
Is it usually?
Is it, oh, sorry, is it usually on the same type of dough as the deep dish? You're asking if it's the same dough.
I thought that. This is a perfect doughboys question.
This really is.
When I was eating this tavern salad, it's like, this tastes like the deep dish.
dish pizza almost just thinned down.
Like, it did, there was something where I was like, it didn't taste very different.
It didn't taste very different.
And I think that like a good tavern style, you got a little crunch to it.
Yeah.
I would have liked a little bit more texture on it.
I will say, so we should with the, we got a thin supreme pepperoni.
That was the tavern style one we got.
And I prefer the tavern style to the deep dish in general.
I'm not sure where you all stand on that.
Pepperoni, onions, green peppers, and mushrooms.
I was enjoying this pizza.
Yes, I agree with the criticism.
I'm happy you were there.
But I was like having some pizza.
I was like, this ain't bad.
This isn't getting the job done.
I'm coming from a snobby point of view.
I'm coming from place with no expectations,
no even concept of what Gino's East is
beyond like a simulacrum of a Chicago eatery.
Oh, go ahead.
If it's good enough for George Wendt,
who Susser saw twice,
gress and peace,
who Susser taught twice going into Geno's East up in the valley,
it's good enough for me.
Wow.
And I do think that...
Chicago originally.
I do think that there is a little bit of, there is some travel issue, like, especially, because did we order from the website?
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
And I feel like, it goes to door-dor-it goes off to third-party apps or whatever.
And then, like, you're on a list of, you're on a list of, like, deliveries that they're going out into the city.
Unless we did, I think we did priority or something like that, yeah.
Yeah.
I always click priority.
It kind of tasted, like, the door-dashers, son, opened the pizza, pulled his pants down, set out.
on a bare butt, and then they served it to us.
That's kind of what the tavern tasted like to me.
You say son, how old are we talking?
14.
Okay.
So it's like, this is like the kind of, you know, a prime pranking.
And the DoorDash dad is like, Marco, you didn't sit on the pizza again.
And he's like, I promise I didn't, right?
Yeah.
The dad is an immigrant, but the son and grew up here, so he has like an American.
Yeah, so that's why he's into all this jackass sort of style pranks.
And he's embarrassed of his Italian hair.
but he'll come back to it.
Yeah, he's just like right now he's just kind of like like like
whatever. I'm a Democrat. I don't want to vote for Trump.
Yeah, yeah, right.
Yeah, right.
You guys know, um, so Caleb Williams, our quarterback paints his
fingernails like you and we love him.
How fun is that?
He's basically this, do you know who Caleb Williams is?
I don't follow the NFL as much, but I, I'm going to start
the season. He's fucking the goat.
Is he really?
He's going to be, he's already good.
He's going to be so good.
I'm excited for you guys.
guys. I, the, I, it's his fingernails to be sick.
But go ahead.
Does he wear the o'ering?
I'll probably throw his, the, I don't know if he's got the o'erring on.
It might affect his throw a little bit.
But he recently on a podcast said his favorite tavern-style pizza is Zarela in Chicago,
which I don't think I've had actually.
And then they named up the pie after him called the Iceman,
because his nickname is the Iceman.
That's so cool.
Tavern style margarita pizza, Italian sashes, pepperoni, pincetta,
Fior di Late
Fresh basil.
What's Fior di Late?
I'm not sure.
I will say that
the athlete I think of
with the, and you know,
this is a recent thing.
I've been,
I've been doing the
pedicure for years,
but the little bit of nail
polish on the,
the Fingies is a fairly recent thing.
But I think of the,
the athlete Jared McCain,
the, for the Oklahoma City Thunder,
who was formerly on the Philadelphia
76ers, who does a similar thing.
I think it's, I think it's fun to
to mix it up, if you like?
I think it's cool. I think you should do it if you like doing it.
And don't let these haters come at you if they are.
Yeah, don't let those haters come at you.
I love it.
I love you.
It will be nice that when you finally strangled me, your fingers will look nice.
Coming towards my neck.
Well, you'll be able to identify my corpse easier.
Like, they'll just have to pull back my hand and be like, yeah, yeah, that's wiger.
Yeah, if you're headless or whatever happens.
Who knows what will happen?
Headless, possible, just generally dismembered, maybe just like, you know, emaciated because I've been starved to death.
Yeah.
By some sort of like, you know, nightmare killer who had some sort of sadistic plan to, you know, keep me alive just long enough for my body to slowly shut down over time.
Maybe I was lit on fire.
Maybe that's what was going on.
Maybe I burned to death.
If the nightmare killer is watching this, go after Hollywood Handbook or another podcast.
Don't come after us.
Don't come after the dough boys.
Don't go out with the dope boys.
They're good guys.
Go after Delhi boys.
Go after a podcast that's been retired.
Yeah, go after the deli boys.
Go after the deli boys.
But you're going after them because you...
Or go after SmartLove.
You know what?
SmartLis is...
You're going to say that you're going after them just not...
It's not an anti-Semitic thing.
You don't like their podcast.
Smartless is the number one.
It's going to clarify that.
Yeah. Go after SmartLis is a good target.
They're rich. They're rich.
You got them.
Get to go after the rich.
I really...
I enjoyed the Thin Supreme Pepper.
What do we think about the deep dish 12-inch cheesy legend, which is on the menu as a 12-inch double-d-d-d-dique.
I said this before the podcast started, but you and I are kind of cheesy legends.
We kind of are cheesy legends.
Would you agree with that, Carmen?
Yeah, I was actually, when I was actually talking to my mom, and she was like, wait, you're going on doughboys, the cheesy legend this podcast?
Yeah, I was like, yeah.
So my mom even, yeah.
So this is cheese four ways.
You got mozzarella, fresh mozzarella, smoked gutta, and pecorino Romano.
I used four ways a little bit incorrectly.
There was four cheeses.
I think you had this take, Mitch.
You know, I'm just going to let you tee up your four-chease pizza take.
There was a lot of debating on what we should do here because I,
sometimes a four-chease pizza to me is just doing a little too much.
It gets a little too salty.
There's pecorino on there.
And so I was trying to decide what to do.
Emma, I think you were pro.
I was pro-cheeze because I love like a pecorino, a salty cheese.
I'm into that.
But I also agree if you put too much in a pizza, it just makes it like a salt bomb.
to be like, the little shaking on top.
Wait, so I didn't even know we had four cheeses in that.
Maybe that's why I didn't like it.
Four cheese is, yeah.
To me, it's oftentimes unga-pachka.
But I do like the peccarina Romano.
My concern when you have something like this is that one of the more, for lack of better
term, exotic cheeses, the cheeses you're less likely to see on a pizza like the
Gouda or the peccarina Romano are going to overpower.
Can I ultimately say what the deciding factor was?
Yes, please.
Is that I would get to call you and I a cheesy legend.
Sorry.
Like, wait, cheesy.
Cheesy legend.
Yeah, cheesy legend.
I wanted to just say that we're cheesy legends.
And so I was like, if I got the cheese pizza, I wouldn't be able to say that we're cheesy legends.
And so that to me was enough to be like, we should get it.
But there was a lot of internal, it was really kind of a discussion.
You were pro cheesy legends and I was kind of just debating it with myself.
You didn't care.
I was scared that to build your own cheese base.
Like if you got that without adding stuff, was you going to be just mozzarella.
And then it would be like kind of watery and plain without the other cheese.
Let me tell you guys something.
Please.
I should have ordered four.
us. You don't do
four. We got to know. It's deep dish.
You do the mozzarella and you add sausage.
I left it up to you all. Emma, Emma, I just, I got to say, you fucked up. I'm not
taking the fall for this shit. I see this guy at the club.
Why your ultimately was the final vote. I saw this guy at the club. I was pro. I was pro
cheesy. Okay. It's all good. No, no, no. You were you. You saw him at the club. But I'm
telling you, I've been excited about this episode for weeks. I'm going, I'm going to eat some
fucking Chicago style pizza. And I come and I eat this.
deep dish, and it might have been one of the worst slices of deep dish pizza I've ever had.
Here's something crazy.
It was one of the two things I like.
I liked it, too.
I thought it was good.
It was hard for me to finish, but I said I'm going to finish it because I like food.
Yeah.
You know?
I wanted another slice, but I was just like I can't get two full.
I'm going to eat another slice after this.
I could pick up the slice of this deep dish and eat it like a piece of pizza, which is not
normally, you usually can't do that with deep dish.
It's a fork and knife situation.
Luminati's literally shits out.
about Gino's East L.A.
Pisa.
Wow.
Wow.
Straight up.
Have you ever had Mossa of Echo Park?
No.
It's like L.A.
It's not a chain.
But I fuck with a quarter sheet.
That's the only pizza.
It's not too far from there.
They're deep dishes good,
but their tavern style is one of my favorite pizzas in L.A.
I think you'd like it.
Where are you from?
I'm from New Hampshire.
Okay.
But my boyfriend's from Chicago.
Oh.
What's his favorite pizza?
In L.A.
In Chicago?
Um,
I think when we're there,
we typically get a loose pizza,
like with a fam.
Well,
I don't know if that's my,
I think some,
a place that I love in Chicago,
it's actually in Cicero,
it's one foot outside of the city.
I might have said this on the last time I was here.
It's where El Capone and his mop set up shop.
Shame on them.
Hey,
don't you dare.
You don't know.
He did a lot of good for that city.
He did a lot of,
both.
No,
but he,
there's a place called Freddy's in Cicero.
And that is,
I think,
my favorite pizza.
And they also have an amazing Italian ice,
a sausage,
deli meat, everything.
or go to Freddy's in Cicero
Freddy Cougar versus Al Capone
could be a fun movie
That is a fun idea
David Wayne if you're listening
They haven't done like a mobster versus

That was the whole plot of the
The movie that Christopher Maldesanti

There's Cleaver.

I'll say this
If Lou Malnati's

Gino's East pizza
consider me a millennial
because I'm I'm eating some ass
there wise I like it
I eat that shit over
Pequods piss
I'll tell you that much
Also we like Piquads
Is Gen Z eating ass?
Probably not
They don't even drink
Millennials
Because we drink so much
I think the Zomers
Right
I think the zoomers
We drink so much alcohol
That we started eating ass
That's what it was
I think
I think they're not doing much
of anything
Yeah, the stereotype for Gen Z is that they don't have sex.
Are you Gen Z?
No, I'm a Millennium.
You're a Millennium.
I'm a Gen Z at heart for that reason.
I look and identify Gen Z, but I am a millennia.
You're talking to almost two Gen Xers here.
Yeah, I'm kind of cusp of Gen X.
But I also have some baby boomer tendencies.
You know what I'm checking?
We were rocking the vote, Wags and I.
It's true.
We were crystal clear Pepsi kind of.
of kids.
I was saying
that they should
bring back
blowing in the
Nintendo
cartridge.
Mm-hmm.
I used to do
the Q-tip in
the Nintendo cartridge.
Oh, yeah.
Smarter.
Blowing was actually
counterproductive
because you had a
moisture.
I was saying
they should do
hard crystal clear
Pepsi.
It would be,
I think it would be a
huge idea.
That's a fun idea.
You know what I
had today?
Sprite tic tacks.
Ooh.
What do you think?
They were awesome.
They tasted like
like lemon heads.
I already talked
about this on
Tim Hidecker's
show.
That's okay.
We love Heidecker.
We're more food focused, so we can double-dash-
Heidegger.
His jaw kind of went like this.
It bulged a little bit when I said Tim Heidecker.
Yeah.
I'll do that.
Hydecker came on the podcast and immediately was confused by, like, he was like, this is what it is really what it is.
He was very, like, this is what you guys do?
Yeah.
Is this every episode, I think you said?
Yeah.
Because we were just like, the fries were kind of salty.
I mean, he had a great time.
We were lucky.
We loved to have it.
Oh, nice.
Great.
a great guy.
My jaw does, you're talking about my jaw.
I've talked about this before,
but my jaw does pop out of socket every night.
And so the first thing I have to do
when I wake up the morning is to put it back into,
you think that's what it is?
Are you?
Pop it back into place.
Are you?
I mean, yeah, I get some anxiety.
He finishes doing what he has to do
and then he pops it back into place.
I guess my dress.
I think stress is the real element to everybody.
That is like stress is the worst thing for your body.
Yeah.
John, shit.
That's what I think.
What is this guy stressed about?
I don't know.
I got a lot of responsibility.
Next Morty line.
Shut up.
Just throwing an odd jeez.
My electric car isn't fully charged.
Shut the fuck up.
Are you running on Rick and Morty as we speak?
Yeah, we're going right now.
So you're exhausted.
I'm doing great.
I'm doing fun.
He's doing a good job.
Is it possible to have some water?
Yeah, we can do a quick water break.
We're going to take a quick water break.
We'll be right back.
Hey, buddy, a good night's rest sets you up for a great day, doesn't it, Mitch?
It sure does, Wags.
And that's why you're so happy.
with your Helix.
That's right.
Wags, I got a moonlight lux.
I love it.
It's like sleeping on a cloud.
You know, I'm like a little cherubic angel.
Yeah, like a little chair about that.
Is that redundant?
Mitch, I would not worry about it because I think people know what you mean.
That's what's most important.

Anybody could do it.
Hey, buddy, we're back from this hydration break, very World Cup coded.
How about that?
Speaking of which...
What do you think of World Cup?
Could it be like the Golden Ball or something?
Wouldn't that be more fun?
Well, Golden Ball is one thing you win at the World Cup.
Yeah.
There's the Golden Ball, I think, and the Golden Boot as well.
Does World Cup need a punch up?
Maybe it doesn't.
I think so.
I think the World Cup is pretty damn good.
I got a punch up.
Yeah, go for it.
The Kings and Queens of Soccer.
That's pretty fucking good.
That's pretty fucking good.
Well, well, well.
I like it.
I think World Cup works.
Oh, we can't top World Cup.
Immediately top seconds.
I just think the World Cup, it's like Super Bowl.
It's like a thing people know.
It's got so much brand equity that at this point, why change it?
But yes, the Kings and Queens of soccer, I do think is quite clever.
I like that.
Oh, good.
Oh, no, you go.
I got a couple more.
What about?
The competition in the galaxy for the world's greatest ever.
That's, I mean, that's already, I can be honest with you.
Competition in the galaxy for the world's greatest ever.
Yeah, it's pretty good.
And I know that we also, there is a guy, there's a guy who changed some stuff around
with the World Cup and he happens to run our country.
So there's a possibility that we could change.
Trump has some leverage with Gianni Infantino, the John Baby, the president of the corrupt
Euro-Trash Kabal that is FIFA.
Where is he from?
He's Italian
Oh, we don't say
Actually, I don't know if he's
He seems ethnically Italian
But I don't know
He might be Argentinian or something
I have no idea
What if we make it the Universal Cup
And we let the aliens play
That's fun
I like that Emma
You get like a space jam possibility
I'm concerned about how much weed you smoke
What if it was called
God's game for gold
That's the best one
I also like that almighty God is in there
It just should make clear
It's the Christian God
Because I don't want there to be in any ambiguity
What if it's called
The Little Winyy Bitch Tournament
Because these guys
their phone on the ground.
I wonder why you fucking love this fucking bullshit.
Speaking of flip-flopping all over the place,
I did find the photo that we had in our group chat of Erling Holland,
the Norwegian star,
catching some print.
Look at that thing.
Notice the watermark in the corner,
gay male celebs.com.
Yeah.
My boy's got a fucking beef stick down there, bro.
He's sprinting around with it out like that.
So how often are you on this website, by the way?
My dick is too heavy.
my dick's

Well, now we got to buy that URL.
I think, I don't know if it's up for some, I don't know if it's for sale.
We'll see.
We'll see.
Put out a bit.
Maybe they'd want to trade bird fuck for it.
That's a pretty good impression of them.
I don't know what he sounds like.
You know, those, uh, what's it called those giffy or what do they, or they're, oh, no,
they called Gettie.
Why do I say Giffy?
Damn it.
Stock photos.
I had one.
If it was called Giffy, I knew what it stood for.
Gay international football league.
That's not even right.
Yeah, where does the league come from?
I don't know.
I don't know.
I like the attempt, though.
Gettie stands for a gay European talker.
There's a misspelling.
No.
Gay European talker players.
Yay!
Very good.
It's Wags approved.
I liked it.
Can I go to this website?
I guess.
Yeah, we did.
It's safe.
I mean, what defines safe.
It's not safe.
It's not safe for work, but it's safe for work, but it loaded right up.
There's no malware.
There's like some articles about sex scenes and stuff.
The good thing is everything is safe for work now because no one fucking works.
We're all doing podcasts.
We're all sitting on her fucking ass in a room, three cameras pointing at us,
seeing who we can get away with talking shit about before we're getting in trouble.
That's the most distinct definition of podcasting I've ever heard.
Who we should get to our...
Who want to talk shit about?
I mean, like, it sounds like we might want to talk shit about.
guests might be talking some shit about Gino's East, but we should get to our final
thoughts on this chain.
So, Carmen, you're doing the podcast, but just a refresher.
We will each go around.
Geno's East, L.A., I'm talking about.
Geno's East L.A., which we're going to like, but, you know, part of a chain is how it scales
up.
And if you're going to try to do the thing of like, hey, we're going to have a chain, we're going
a location on the West Coast.
We're going to have a location in Singapore.
Those outposts should deliver what you get at the original or else it's like,
you know, what, what are we even doing here?
But, but, but your, what was your, what was your, what was your, what was your,
is, is near Ridley, right?
not it's in it's i mean it is but it everything's relative i guess depends what you think is far but
it's not like walking distance for rigley it's kind of in um lincoln park area not rigley so it's you know
you it's it's not you have to either you know drive or take a train or walk or some shit or
whatever you got you can't get there quickly my favorite in rigley here's the issue is when i
i will say this about rigley is now they do have a lot of great food there um when i was living
by the park, there wasn't awesome options.
It was like actually kind of like dog shit.
It was like, you can get like hot dogs and shit,
but I'm like, where do I get some good?
There wasn't the best options.
We'd go to the, we were also broke.
So I'd go to the subway and actually I had some money saved.
But I'd go to subway and I would order pizza from subway.
Wow.
How was that subway pizza?
It was honestly like pretty good.
Wow.
Because I would,
I made friends with the subway worker and she'd put,
extra sauce on and then I'd have her put the fresh ingredients. I don't know if they're fresh,
but then I'd have her put more like peppers and actually even more cheese. It was like a double
pizza. Would this be in the roll or would this be like an actual like a dough? It was like I'm
pretty sure it was like pre-made and then she put all the extras. It's awful. Yeah, like it was
actually pretty bad. The food options in 2004 13 in Chicago near Wrigley were not great. And now it
actually really good, even though it's corporate.
Speaking of Riggily, have you ever been to Catalina Island?
Great question.
Catalina Island in California?
Yeah.
No, why?
Because the Rigglies have a...
Did the Rigglies, like, own a part of Catalina?
Is that what it is?
I think so.
How do you get there?
Where is that?
You can take a ferry.
My parents are coming next weekend.
You got...
Fun day trip.
It's like a 45-minute, you know, ferry ride.
You out there, you can see two harbors.
A fun weekend, too.
If you got the hotels there, it's a fun little weekend.
It's not, no, it's not particularly expensive.
But you can also go out there for a day and come back.
I mean, I've done that before.
But it's also, there are people who can like, oh, I can go there and I can, you know, I've also hiked all of Catalina.
There's Buffalo there.
There is.
How fun is that?
I got to go to Catalina.
Maybe I'll spend the night there.
It used to be like a place where there were, like, celebrities would go hang out.
It was kind of like the Riviera of California for a time.
Natalie Wood also died there, right?
Yes.
Yes, off the coast of Catalina Island.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And what's his name?
Was the suspected of killing her?
Kittling her?
Was it, ooh.
Christopher Wachan and then was on the boat.
Was on the boat.
Wait, what?
Yeah, Christopher Wachman was when Natalie Wood was, died.
How did she die?
She drowned.
Suspicious circumstances.
Suspicious circumstance.
You don't think our boy did it.
It was not Christopher Wachin.
It was the other actor.
Fuck, what the fuck is.
He's on, he's Austin Powers.
He's Rob Lowe's part, past O'Boy's guest, a friend of the show, Rob Lowe.
he was Rob Lowe's part
who's now he's recreating that character
in the number two
in the Verizon spots
That's right
But it was
What the hell was like his name?
Robert Wagner, yes, thank you
The legendary Robert Wagner
What's the conspiracy
Around?
Honestly, you want to know the conspiracy
Is that Natalie Wood
and
Look.
This is all alleged.
This is all alleged.
Alleged stories.
I don't want to speak
You know, we're speaking of the dead here
But the rumors is that she was like flirting with Defoe and then they got to...
DeFoe?
I'm sorry.
Walking.
Christopher Wachin.
She was flaring with Christopher Wacken and then Wagner got like they fought and then she fell overboard and maybe he didn't help her back on board or maybe he threw her overboard and she couldn't swim.
That was the other thing she couldn't swim.
Wow.
That's really sad.
You know, we're talking catching in printer earlier, Defoe famously with the first.
the confusingly large penis.
You can see that thing in full view.
He was in a film where he's fucking bragging that around.
And Lars von Trier said he couldn't show it because it was too confusing to the audience.
And Robert Wagner is still alive.
He's 96.
Wow.
So I guess we should have come back for the Verizon spots.
We had number two.
We had young number two on.
Should we get older number two on?
I mean, it sounds like we only have a limited amount of time.
Imagine if Robert Wagner came on doughboys and we're like, what happened?
he just opens up.
I shouldn't have done it.
It was a crazy night.
There's no like beach water to go into in Catalina.
Oh, you sure?
Oh, there.
Yeah, you can turn a little.
I highly recommend snorkeling.
You could swing with the Garibaldi and the, all the fish.
And you can lay out on the beach and go in the water.
It's kind of rocky, but yeah.
The main, the main.
The main.
Joe Boys live from a yacht with Robert Wagner in the Catalina Bay.
Pretty good.
Fucking tossing.
Wager's ass over.
And go to the ballroom at the casino and go for a little escape.
So is this a place you want to, like my parents are coming to town this Friday for like four
days?
Do we want to do that for a day?
Do we want to stay?
I would say your parents are going to go gag-go-go-go-go-go-
I think it's a fun thing for parents.
I mean, it's just like the thing to always be conscious of.
It depends on how mobile people are.
But I mean, like, it's a, because there is a fair amount of walking and it's kind of hilly and
Rocky like you're saying? Hold on a second.
If you're hiking, but you can
you can stay out in the air. No, but I mean, I mean, even
the city of the city of Avalon, I feel
like is not like, you know. How do you get there?
Yeah. Fairy. Ferry. And what time
are this ferry? Um, you could
check the times or you could go take
an early ferry. It's pretty consistent. How long does it take to get there?
I think he'd take there about 45 minutes, yeah.
That ain't shit. It's not very long. No, it's right there.
Hey, that's Manhattan to Brooklyn when this fucking G's
run like shit.
That's a, that's silver lake to the west.
side when the 10 freeway is clogged us.
That's right, Wags.
That's Chicago to Hammond when the Bears move stadiums, unfortunately.
Oh, boy, that's such a bummer.
You know what I...
You know what's fun is that Barry...
Oh, how about that?
But I'm like, I can't talk about it.
But we're staying in Chicago, baby.
I love it here first.
That's good.
That's a good thing.
Ferry is like you got...
It's a boat, obviously.
But I like that there's also a ferry that's got a little...
Wow, Mitch just got some double-ment...
I got Riggley's in my pocket.
This is weird.
I don't ever have, this is bizarre.
That's crazy.
That's really strange.
You have that while I'm holding a Vita Coco.
Where are the odds?
Meanwhile, I got my headgum jar with the tiger on there.
Also, by the way, what are the odds?
Did the Cubs just play preseason on Catalina?
There was like a training thing there.
You were right.
The Wrigley family deeded like 42,000 acres of land on Catalina to the Catalina Island Conservancy.
or something like that.
Wow.
I did a tour with them to go see the Buffalo.
Yeah.
And they take you by the Wrigley house.
There you go.
Rigglies are pretty good.
It sounds like.
Also, what the fuck?
Did I drink some brain tonic?
I'm on fire today, Wags.
Is this yours?
I got that for you.
Thank you so much.
I love water, especially when it's in a head gum glass.
What was the Bradley Cooper?
What was the brain shit?
The limitless pill?
I'm fucking limitlessing it over here.
You're fucking Lucy over there.
Scarlet Johnson movie the same premise.
Oh, yeah, right.
And then she becomes like, she becomes like a god, doesn't she?
She says on a plane, she says, to science.
Oh, wait, no, to knowledge.
That's what it is.
Is that how it ends?
She gives a toast to knowledge.
A lot of fun.
Doesn't she turn into like a computer program at some point?
There's like, she evolves, doesn't she in some way?
I don't remember if that's where it went and not.
It sounds right.
Scarjo, Scarjo, Scarjo, you're choosing the wrong projects, baby.
And Scarjo, if you're listening to this, I'm a huge fan.
I'll get her attached for this movie you and David Wainer making.
Holy shit.
If she wants to be in it.
She's like, yeah, there's not a role for her in this, but I would like to work with her on something else.
Let's get to our final thoughts on.
That's so funny to cut Scarlet Johansson out of the movie.
On Gino's East in L.A.
Yes.
Your thoughts, your closing argument, if you will, Carmen, and your score from zero to five forks.
Oh, my God.
Zero to five forks.
Okay.
My closing argument and my closing thoughts on this Gino East is I'm glad that you guys exist.
But unfortunately, it's not the best representation.
Do you mean Gino's East or you're talking?
Oh, Gino's East.
That's what we're talking about.
I don't know if you met the doughboys, which I thought was, I was laughing because I thought it was nice.
I thought it was nice that you said I'm glad that you guys exist.
No, no, no.
I'm glad that Gino's East exists because anybody that's employing people, I think business is important right now.
People need jobs always.
And that's essential.
and I don't want to, you know, get this place closed down.
But if it did close down, I would understand why.
Because the pizza was not good.
It was fine.
The tavern style was not better than a frozen pizza.
I could save money there.
The deep dish was not a great representation of what Chicago has to offer.
I think deep dish, if it's done well, it could be really great.
And if it's not, then it's not good.
maybe we ordered the wrong amount of cheese.
I thought the mozzarella sticks were incredible.
And when your appetizer is better than the thing that you are kind of putting on the poster,
then we got an issue.
And the Italian beef was fine.
It was mid.
You didn't give us any garden air.
So that's an issue.
And I just felt like the meat was kind of dry.
And obviously, that's what, you know, the gravies for, the juice, the juke.
But I wasn't crazy about it.
Um, I will say at the end of the day, I like having some comfort in eating something that is native to Chicago or Mississippi as we learn today. And I will give this two forks out of five. Wow, two forks.
Two forks. What say you spoon man? Mr. Slice. That's fair. Um, wigs. The first bite I had today was those French fries and they were, they were the worst part of the meal. They didn't travel well.
Right. I ate one and I basically said, I'm done.
Sorry.
One and done.
Not good.
Not good.
With French fries?
Not a good sign.
I was looking forward to today, you guys.
And now I'm leaving unhappy.
But go ahead.
That is kind of the doughboys experience in many ways.
I'm just messing around.
I thought next I have this Italian beef.
And I got a beef with that Italian beef because it wasn't that good wise.
I thought it was pretty, I thought it was pretty subpar.
That was cleverly constructed.
I thought you were going to, like, I thought you were going to go towards an Italian beef,
meaning like, you know, like Italians, Italian beef, Trump can't get a third term.
Sure.
You know, like, which is also good.
It is good, yeah.
That is an Italian beef.
It's also good.
It's like Italian would have a beef with that.
Yeah.
Because they, Obama.
They have Italian.
About Italians have beef with Obama.
Yeah.
Yeah.
There's a lot of things that Italians have beef with.
Yeah, right.
And I got a beef with that Italian beef because it wasn't that good.
Like, like being, like being.
were saying.
There's a few more things.
You have a few more?
Yeah, there's a few more.
There's a few more things.
Like when Nana
doesn't make her famous lasagna.
Italians got a beef with that.
What's wrong with Nana? She's sick?
What's going on?
How about the ending of the Sopranos?
What the hell was that?
Did I lose to my pal will go out?
Oh, I got one.
Well, you try to get rid of Christopher Columbus Day?
There we go.
That was just pure Emily.
That was just a episode.
That was just me speaking.
Wow.
You looked
Exactly like my cousin
When you did that
I didn't think of you
It's an Italian
Now you're super Italian
That was good
Wow
She's Italian
It comes
It rears its head
A little too often
I'm crazy
I uh
So right off the bed
I'm like
Oh is this gonna be a bad
We're gonna have a bad day here
And then the tavern style
I was not
I was like the tavern style
I was just okay
I have that mozzarella stick
The meals turned around
I really like the mozzarella stick
And I had the cheesy legend
which again
doughboys are cheesy legends
we probably should have gone
with the cheese pizza
I'm gonna just call this Emma's Folly
she really fucked it up
Okay
episode delete
Look it's Emma's Folly
It's fine
I had nothing to do it
Emma's fucking fall
Folling
I'm watching you get scared
It's okay
It's not mad
It's not Emma's fault
But I actually did
I did enjoy the pizza
maybe it was too much going on for you, but I did, I liked my slice of a deep dish.
I almost told Amelia to just get like a build your own cheese as well as that so we could side by side.
It would have been funny to do both.
We should have done that.
So it's Wider's fault because I was charging his electric vehicle.
This is a whole subplot that was going throughout the day that I was going to get into my closing thoughts.
But please continue, Mitch.
Oh, cool.
You buy an electric vehicle and then you're wasting a bunch of gas to fucking recharge it.
This was a whole thing.
It was a whole thing.
I'm looking up who currently owns Gino Z's to make sure I don't get killed when I go back home.
What the fuck of this?
Emilio's coming to charge your electric vehicle.
We go, fuck you.
Jim Brooks?
What the hell has gone on here?
I mean, I paid you out of pocket.
But yes, I did have to, yes.
I, like, it was a thing where it was just an impossible jam where I didn't realize I got to work.
And I was like, fuck, I don't even have enough charge to get to head gum.
And I have to go straight from work to head gum.
So I'm either going to have to leave my car at work and then solve this problem tomorrow.
take an Uber or I said like was Amelia thankfully was available to come over get my car a little bit
of a charge and then I did a little Singapore swap and was able to take to drive over here.
What happened?
What do you?
I just fucking stupid.
I'm busy and I'm dumb and I'm just like I fucking for I like I woke up this morning.
I was like oh shit I have like 14% of my battery left that's I'm going to get to work
and then it might be just be stranded.
Okay, I don't.
I said this to me earlier.
I don't understand why something doesn't exist.
It's like a solar power charger.
Like we live in the desert.
How come you can't like slap a solar panel on your roof and charge your car in the sun?
And the car should go forever.
I like that.
Yeah, and then you just drive for forever.
You never have to stop again.
Because then there wouldn't be people buying oil and we wouldn't be able to kill each other at war.
I know. That's exactly what Mike said to me.
Whatever. I have no good old gas cars.
As I was driving around looking for a charge.
This is kind of the opposite direction of what we're talking.
I have a interesting fact.
I, I, I, well, because I commend you for having an electric vehicle and I also
commend you for sending Amelia on a wild goose chase.
I think that's funny and fun.
I was watching Amelia's location.
Dutch is like ping pong all over Brady.
I could feel myself becoming Republican as I was driving around looking for all these
EVE chargers.
Becoming Republican.
This is the issue with just like the infrastructure.
Like we could have built a bunch more of these motherfuckers.
But like, you know, that that was part of the, they never actually did the Green New
deal that everyone was so threatened by.
there was just absolutely zero momentum for that
when Democrats had any sort of power
and then fucking Trump comes in and just like
undoes everything that was
already in place to expand EV charges
including pulling out some existing ones.
We need more Tesla diners.
More Tesla diners as far as I'm concerned.
Put them up everywhere.
They should be a Tesla diner on every corner, Wags.
Wow.
What happened?
So I figured out who owned Gino's East
and it's Bravo.
restaurants. Do you know that? It's president and co-owner is Jeff Himmel and he owns their
Chicago roots go back to the 1800s and they also owned a place that I loved as a kid. So we have
some redemption here. Ed DeBevics. Okay. Ed DeBevics is where I used to go for all my birthdays and the
wait staff has mean to you and you know I love that. Do you know who loves Ed DeBevics? Bob Oddenkir.
Oh, wow, that's very.
He's an Illinois guy, too, right?
Yeah, did he work at Ed DeVevics?
I don't know.
Does it still exist?
I can see him work in there.
I think Ed DeBevics, some of the Botei boys went with him to Ed DeBevics, not me.
I was the only one I think who didn't go.
Oh, really?
So, Ed DeBevics, it's like been doing this thing where it opens and closes, and it's back again, I guess.
Got it.
But it, like, closed for a while.
I wasn't doing well.
But it was amazing.
As a kid, my brother won an ice cream eating contest.
Oh, shit.
Like, every kid's dream.
On my birthday, so I was hell of jealous.
That's awesome.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's kind of a rude day to do it, but still.
Kind of like a Dick's Last Resort in a way.
Yeah, sure.
I know the promise.
Besser worked at Dix Last Resort, and this is, I love Besser.
Matt Besser.
I think Besser got fired from, we got to ask, we got to have Besser back and
ask him, but I think you got fired from Dick's last resort for being he was too mean, I believe.
Yes, I was told this.
You may have talked about it on the podcast.
He maybe did.
Wait, get your fork score, Mitch.
My fork score, wags.
I actually like Gino's East.
I like that it exists out here.
Is it the best deep dish option town?
I don't, I don't know.
I probably, I don't, I don't think so.
There's a couple other options right now,
but I also feel like giving it a due diligence
would be going and sitting down there,
and I have gone and sat down there before.
And it's not as good as Gino's East was in Chicago,
but I still thought pretty decent.
So I'm going to go higher.
I'm going to go 3.5 forks.
Wow, for my rating.
That's really nice.
I understand, I understand the two forks.
But I got to be supportive from past experiences.
I'm taking those into account a little bit here, Wags.
But I like the Mott sticks.
I liked the deep-dip's deep-dice cheese, Emmis Fawley.
I had, I, I, I, I, I, I, I,
I'm going to see if they'll change the name of their pizza to Emma's Wally.
So it's not named after us anymore.
It's named after you.
Yeah.
But I thought overall, okay.
Hey, we've had worse food on the show.
I wonder where you'll land was.
And I wonder where the deus lands as well.
Emma's folly is reminding me of a past headgum employee Emma Foley.
Oh, yeah.
One of what who was always like, you'd get that your Emma's emails would get swapped sometimes.
I still get emails for me.
Yeah.
But Emma used to, was unfortunately a casualty when, you know, a lot of people were, left the company.
That's right.
Yeah, but, you know, whatever.
They got so many employees.
They just.
Yeah.
Only so many seats.
They don't have so many desks here, you know.
Only so much square footage at the headgum headquarters.
I love the headgum headquarters.
I'm proud of my company.
Ryan's still out there by himself?
No, he lost.
Okay.
So now there's no one.
They got sugar-free red bull, and I like that.
They do have sugar-free red bull.
There's so many energy drinks in that refrigerator.
You got to keep them working.
What's the opposite of a folly?
A prize?
I think a folly is a mistake.
Yeah, folly even think is a mistake.
I mean, that's what I'm saying.
Emma's triumph.
Sitting right next to me here on the...
Oh, the best thing in my life.
This is called the World Cup, Emma's Triumph.
Wow, that's pretty good.
And I get to do the FIFA corrupt stuff.
I get to line my pockets.
I'm dying to know where you land.
I'm going to get to that right now.
Promise?
Yeah.
All right.
Let's see.
I'm going to land this plane.
The mozzarella sticks are good.
Cheesy legend.
It's also good.
that Italian beef polarizing
You know, I thought
It was good
Even though it didn't have Jardinara
Jardinare
Jardinare
It's all good
The fries were bad
I mean, arguably the fries were bad
That was a low light
The thin supreme pepperoni
I thought it was good
Wow
So we're talking about five different menu items
I had four hits and one miss
I gotta be honest
I'm surprised to be the high man here
But I'm not in the handholding club with Mitch
because I'm in fact a half fork above him.
I think it's a four fork.
Wow!
I had a great time.
And I'll just say this as a neophyte,
as a relative, you know,
I can't quite say neophyte because I've been to Chicago a number of times.
Lovely city.
Love that L train.
How fun is that.
No, I say you don't know shit.
I say you don't really know shit.
But I don't know shit.
I don't know shit about Chicago food, really.
But I've had a lot of great meals there.
I've had, you know, a better, more authentic Italian beefs.
I've had better.
I guess more authentic versions of both tavern pizza and deep dish pizza.
I'm not sure if I've had better mozzarella sticks.
These are really good mozzarella sticks, especially for it to go.
And I just thought all this shit was hidden.
So I was like, if I'm out here, I'm a Chicago expat or less so a Chicago expat because
it seems like we have one here and you're not satisfied by it.
I'm pissed.
But I'm an Angelino.
I've lived in Southern California my entire life.
And I just want to taste to Chicago.
I'm like, do you know, Zee's getting the job done.
So for me, this is a for for forker.
If you are listening to this today and you're from Chicago and you had Gino's East in L.A.
Or even Gino's East in Chicago, but mostly L.A.
And you agree with me.
Get in those comments and let's start talking.
Because I feel fucking crazy right now because I know what great is.
And tonight was not great.
Where does the day stand?
I would put it maybe a 3.75, maybe even before.
I had that food after it's been sitting out for a while.
And I thought it was pretty good.
Because you were running around trying to recharge a car basically.
Exactly.
And for the record, if this is your first time listening to this podcast at home,
I am surrounded by L.A. hippies.
Okay?
I'm surrounded by a bunch of hippies.
Emma's Folly, my first deep dish slice ever.
That's why.
Wait, what the fuck?
I never had deep dish before.
I feel so bummed for you.
I said we did her dirty spending that much time in Chicago,
and we didn't take her to get deep dish.
I didn't know you had never had it.
You never had deep dish?
That was a bad example.
That was the first time in Chicago, remember?
Wow.
And we didn't get you deep dish?
I know.
We had so much other food to eat.
I know.
We ate so much.
There's a lot of options.
Yeah.
I think I was thinking like a three when I ate it.
I will say my stomach doesn't feel fantastic after eating it.
No, my neither.
I get the wrong place.
I think that makes it lose out.
Also, like I was saying earlier, Massa of Echo Park, which that's a much better deep dish, I think.
And I think they're tavern style is much better, too.
So if I'm going to get this type of food, I'm not going to go to Geno.
So I think I'd probably say like two and a half or three.
Wow.
We're all over the map here.
Let us know what you think.
I can say for a fact.
Yeah.
For an absolute fact, I will never go to Gino's East in Los Angeles.
Wow.
I'd go back.
Unless they wanted to give me free alcohol for a night.
Then I'll go back and take this.
And I'll change my mind about this whole podcast.
George went like it.
I could be bribed.
George went liked it.
Cheers his own.
He liked
rest in peace.
He liked Gino's East in L.A.
Where the fuck is?
Is he actually from Chicago?
I think he, I think he is.
He certainly spent a lot of time in Chicago.
I'm a big fan of him.
Yeah, rest in power.
All right.
You'll look that up.
Right now, that was our review of Gino's East.
It's time for a segment.
I've got some scenarios where you might be thirsty
and Mitch and Carmen must respond with their ideal drinks.
It's the return of thirst responders.
Hit it, Emma.
I don't know what this is either.
I'm excited.
It's a returning segment.
We've done this before.
Maybe I'll remember.
Are you about to sing Thirst Responders Responders to Desperato?
Yeah, it's, I mean, yeah.
Thirst responder,
why don't you come drink a beverage?
You've been up watching The Bear.
Final season out now.
Oh, you're a parched one.
I know which diet you follow.
Those fluids you swallow can thirst you somehow.
All right, this is thirst responder.
So here are the rules.
There's a series of open-ended questions.
Mitch, Carmen, I will give you a particular setup as to why you're thirsty,
and you tell me in this hypothetical...
It's crazy that that song maybe negatively affected the bear's viewership.
I don't know how it's possible, but you maybe pulled it off somehow.
Last time we did it, I think it must have been Zach Cherry was on this show.
It was Jess McKenna.
It was Jess McKenna, but because the lyrics are you've been up watching Severance.
Season two is out now.
Maybe we did an oops all segment.
Could have been that.
Could have been reused at that context.
Anyway, or maybe when we were doing Zach Asa and get the word out about severance.
Yeah, we got to help that guy.
He's working off.
Love him to death.
Tell me what your dream beverage would be in each of these.
Love you, Zach, Terry.
Love you, Zach Cherry.
Watch Severance.
Okay, first up.
It's a hydration break.
I'm plugging.
I'm plugging away over here.
Watch Severance.
Watch season two of Severance.
It came out last year.
Watch it.
Season three coming sometime.
It's a hydration break during the World Cup.
You're the underdog and you're losing, but there's a lot of game left.
What would you fill that cooler with to secure the win?
And what do you fill your pull your pull?
closing teams cooler with.
So you have an opportunity to be both supportive of your own squad and a saboteur
of the opponent.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Well,
other team,
obviously you're thinking some sort of thick piss or something like that.
Yeah,
I was thinking piss.
You're cutting a slice of P-quads open and letting it leak out.
That is kind of the perfect, like a creamy piss would be, like a creamy piece would be,
that would be pretty, creamy.
Yeah.
Pequots piss.
Like something that's heavy.
In my mind, I'm like, I'm putting chocolate milk over there.
Oh, fuck.
Chocolate milk is maybe.
Can you give you some protein.
You might give you a little bit sneaky energy.
This maybe that will.
Milkshakes.
Milkshakes are very heavy and you'd be farting all over the place.
Milkshakes, I think that I would fill up there.
But milkshakes are too good.
Yeah.
Beer's pretty good.
But sometimes beer would like, sometimes I can just unlock that thing when you become like a better.
I'm actually like in the, in for the team that I want to win,
I'm having a whole big-ass
gatorade tub of a dirty Hendricks martini
Okay, there you're getting one little martini
And you're going back out there
You're going to be feeling good
You're just kicking the thing
You're just playing, you're not even thinking.
You know how like a drink sometimes
will just make you slightly better at everything
Driving, whatever comedy
Like a lot of different things.
Sex.
Right. It can be helpful.
Talking to women.
It can unlock, I think it can unlock a thing sometimes
So I think booze is dangerous
to put it in your opponents.
I'm putting
boo,
I'm putting a big
dirty martini in my
okay dirty martini
in your own teams
maybe in the opponent
and my team
on my team
Pete Holmes
brain juice
could
pretty good
it could be
it could be helpful
because half the game
is mental
you know
yes
you win matches up here
honestly
I'm gonna be honest with you
I think that there's
you learn it when you're a child
Gatorade
and orange slices
I think that that
that is that's the winning
combination, isn't it? Have we
gotten, I mean, I think everyone's
favorite Gatorade flavor in there, of course,
is what you want, but I don't think there's anything
better. And then maybe, I got my, yeah, go on.
Sorry. Please. For the losers,
Donald Trump's diarrhea.
Okay?
That'd be really, for the winning team,
I changed it. But I forgot.
You have to go.
What if the losing team
is, what if it's Italy
and they drink Donald's Tarps' diarrhea
and they fucking play fantastic?
They love the stuff.
Well, so then I got for the winners.
I know what I put it.
At least not the cup.
The blood from the refrigerator of Army Hammer.
You're going to be drinking.
You're drinking straight killer juice, and you're going to be fucking dominant.
Okay.
Next up.
You're hungover on July 5th.
You can't get out of bed and we'll have to make do with whatever's in arm's reach.
You look over on your nightstand and see a series of unfinished beverages.
What do you reach for?
Day after a holiday, you're hungover.
and there's some, there's thankfully, right there is something that's unfinished that's going to be your salvation.
What are you going for?
Once again, I got to say Gatorade.
I mean, that's the answer.
That's the answer.
It's pretty good.
Blue Gatorade.
A Gatorade.
What is, Gatorade is, it's sports science.
They figured it out.
My honest answer is some viticoco, bit of coconut water.
You got electrolytes and you got hydration and you got 70% vitamin C in just eight ounces.
Is this 11 ounces?
Is this a leftover thing?
Because I will say that sometimes I've opened up and I've gotten McDonald's delivered
and I've gotten a full Coca-Cola and I'll wake up a few hours.
I'm like, oh, no, I don't feel too good.
And I'll take a sip of that Coca-Cola and it will be fucking fantastic.
Yeah, sure.
I think that's what's going on.
I know what you're talking about.
I will say I did have McDonald's the night of the fourth and I had a double
cheeseburger for the first time in probably like 15, 20 years.
How did that hit?
So good.
Oh, yeah.
McDonald's is better than
Geno's East in L.A.
I'd agree with that.
Also, very 4th of July meal, a double cheeseburger
I like it. I approve.
Shit was popping.
All right, next up.
These, by the way,
were written by Amelia,
which should be clear with the next one.
Your co-host postpones the Munch Madness finale
and you're frustrated because you thought
the original date worked just fine.
What are you drinking to take the edge off?
So, for some context for Carmen,
the Munch Madness Finale is like a live stream event
we're doing,
the end of our tournament of champions,
are a fast food tournament.
And it's been delayed.
It already was delayed,
but it's been delayed a little bit additionally.
So this is something you're frustrated
with the collaborator artistically.
Maybe it's a future,
hopefully not a future scenario
with you and David Wayne
on your upcoming film.
I'm gonna keep you guys in the loop on that one.
I'm drinking some allure.
I need something that really is just,
we're on Chicago theme.
I need something that's a kick.
I'm angry.
This taste is so strong
that I'm thinking about anything
other than what I was just thinking about
because the taste is so strong.
Do you like Mallort?
I do.
I like like a glass.
Amelia Liden says she likes it too.
I love it.
I tried it in Chicago.
It's fun.
It was like mint chocolate chip ice cream.
Shot one, she loved, shot two.
She liked by shot three.
Borderline Barf.
But that would have happened with whatever.
Sometimes I'll just get it
and I'll just get it neat
and sip it a little bit
because it kind of relaxes your stomach.
Yeah, I like that.
It's a digest thief.
It's like, I like a Fernette Bronca more
because it's just a little bit less of a
mixed, but I do really like,
I did enjoy Mallort.
Do you know that this year you frustrated me so much
that I called Suss and we went and got a drink?
What did I frustrate you over?
It wasn't much madness?
Maybe it was much madness.
I don't know what it was.
That's cute.
And me and Suss went and had a drink,
and I felt so good.
Sometimes when you need that drink.
Yeah, he had to calm me down a little bit.
Is that what I talked you off the lead?
Is that a crazy confession?
He basically just said,
hey, I went and drank and talked shit about you for two hours.
Why do you think that smells so much weed?
I didn't talk shit about you.
I just need to go,
I need to take the fucking edge off.
What did you drink?
What was the drink?
He definitely talked to shit.
He's always talking shit.
I talked shit to his face.
Yeah, it's fine.
Everyone's talking shit here.
I think it's fine.
I think it's good to, like,
I could tell you guys
have a healthy relationship
because you told them.
I told you.
Yeah.
I went and got,
and I had a nice cold cider
and a shot of tequila.
I don't know.
I do love a shot.
and then like a sip and drink.
If you're having a shot of tequila, like what are you calling your liquor?
What do you have in?
Susser took the gun from me.
Are you having, are you just having well tequila or do you get, you get a, you call something?
Oh, I'm doing Don Julio.
Oh, that's fun.
Sure.
You like Don't Julio?
I don't want to hang over the next morning.
So that's, that's, that's.
And I don't want you to have one.
I need you out working.
I just had some Chopin vodka.
I don't, I got a shot.
I hung out with the cat man, Tim Calpacus and, and Moogie Blake Clock and Eva Anderson.
But let me tell you.
He was talking shit about me.
We didn't talk any shit.
I may have talked to a little shit.
But we had a...
I would like to...
We had some gin martinis.
We're at this classic beach dive.
And a Shay J.
down in Santa Monica, which is like this landmark.
It's like this little shed.
It's frozen in time.
It's great.
Whoa, I'm going there.
It's fucking an awesome hang.
It's great dive bar.
But we...
Also, the galley's down there.
Another dive, which is great.
And this has similar sort of vibes.
I love the West Side.
Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
But we were hanging out there, and then Calpacus, you know, of the Slabby Boys podcast,
or as a Boo's Forward podcast, was like, you just try some vodka martinis because I never do that.
So I had a Chopin vodka martini later.
Let me tell you, it was a potent mix.
I like that.
Cheez-J.
They got burgers.
Yeah, it's fun.
Interesting.
They got coffee as well.
And one of their menu items was designed by Leonard Nimoy.
Isn't that wild?
I don't know who that is, but I'm a big fan of Leonard Skinner.
Leonard Nimoy was Spock on the original Star Trek.
Was Amelia invited in or did she just come to San Monica, charge your car and go home?
Amelia, were you riding these as you were charging Lagra's car?
No, I wrote him last night.
We got one more.
We had time for one more.
Which one should I do, Amelia?
Okay, do you want one about aliens, about Johnny Knoxville, or do you want one about, what's the other one?
A SWAT team?
We love Knoxville.
All right, great.
Which one is the best?
You do the one that you think is the best.
Okay, I'll do this one.
Which one's going to get the most...
An extraterrestrial being beams you up into a spaceship.
They conduct experiments on you for five years
where your only hydration source is an ivy.
After they finish, they reward you with any drink of your choice.
So you've not been parched.
You have been adequately hydrated,
but not orally for five years,
longer than, you know, than most people spend in college.
Half a decade.
Not Van Wilder, my man.
What is your first drink after not having any sort of...
The day is just giving me a...
Any sort of liquid orally...
Oral hydration for five years.
Wow.
That's a great question.
I'm probably going,
Fruit Punch High C.
That's really fucking good.
That's really good.
You're going to think I'm crazy here.
Gatorade.
All right, that was Thursday responders.
And ice cold beer would be great, too.
What was the Johnny Knoxville one?
Now you're in the newest Jack has maybe feel pressured
and taking a tiny bite of dog shit off the sidewalk
when all of a sudden Dungeon in Oxfell gives you pat on the back
and hands you what beverage is a similar sort of thing.
Well, this is different.
This, I would choose a different drink here.
He's handing you, fucking Steveo's jizz.
That's the thing.
You're accidentally, you think you're going to get a chaser or something good,
but you're drinking jizz instead.
What do you wash your mouth out with in that scenario?
After eating shit?
Yeah, like, waltwash.
Yeah, mouthwash.
Yeah, mouthwash is the answer.
Yeah.
We man's diarrhea.
I don't want weman's dukey.
Oh, no, we man's dookie.
You guys got to hang this show up.
Yeah.
Yeah, I guess it's done, though.
Just like a restaurant,
very feedback.
Let's up to the feedback.
Today's email's from Paul from Montana.
Paul writes,
Hey, do gang, I recently purchased a case of corona
and forgot to buy limes at the grocery store.
Tragic.
Dummy.
Skill issue.
It got me thinking about if there were any other fruits
that might work to add to a servesa.
Is there any fruit y' all think would work besides limes?
I know fruit isn't really Mitch's thing,
so maybe this is a bad question.
I'm happy I called you a dumb ass.
Just kidding.
Thank you for all the laughs.
I've been a big fan of y'alls for years,
and I look forward to every episode,
heart emoji.
Much love, Paul for Montana.
P.S. is the birthday boys
the best sketch comedy show of all time?
I think yes.
Oh, for fuck sake.
That was such a roll.
Paul, that was really sweet.
I'm sorry, I called you a dumbass.
And obviously it's SNL.
I think it's probably SNL, yeah.
When I think back on it, yeah,
it's probably a Saturday Night Live.
Saturday Night Live wins out.
Yeah, definitely the best.
Pat.
Uh.
Mango.
I couldn't think anyone after Pat.
Orange slices are a big problem.
They put it orange slices in.
I love, sorry.
A little orange slice.
Yeah.
I would probably try.
You know what?
Throw some fucking Kiwi in there.
Kiwi's interesting.
I like it.
I like it.
You know what?
That was a game winner.
That was at the buzzer.
That's a great answer.
I would say,
Pineapple.
Yeah, I think any citrus could potentially work something with a little bit of acid.
Pineapples an interesting choice.
Can I tell you one thing to leave out of there?
Yeah.
We man's ducky.
Yeah.
You said, now, see, now, that was a game winner.
We haven't seen a shot like that since.
Carmen just had a game winner so good that we had to cut it out.
But it was very good.
I want to let you guys know, I said something crazy.
Too hot for dough boys.
