Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. It may look different, but native culture is alive. My name is Nicole Garcia, and on Burn Sage, Burn Bridges, we aim to explore that culture. Somewhere along the way, it turned into this full-fledged award-winning comic shop. That's Dr. Lee Francis IV, who opened the first Native comic bookshop. Explore his story along with many other native stories on the show, Burn Sage, Burn Bridges. Listen to Burn Sage Burn Bridges. Listen to Burn Sage Burn Bridges on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:00:34 What I told people, I was making a podcast about Benghazi. Nine times out of ten, they called me a masochist, rolled their eyes, or just asked, why? Benghazi, the truth became a web of lies. From prologue projects and Pushkin Industries, this is Fiasco, Benghazi. What difference at this point does it make? Listen to Fiasco, Benghazi, on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. First of all, you don't know me. We're all about that high school drama girl, drama girl, all about them high school queens.
Starting point is 00:01:12 We'll take you for a ride in our comic girl. Drama girl. Cheering for the right team. Drama queens, drama queens. You could be smart girl, rough girl, fashion but you'll tough girl. You could sit with us, girl. Drama queen, drama queens, drama queens, drama queens, drama queens, drama queens, drama queens. queens. Hey, hey, hey, friends. We are excited to be back with all of you for a Q&A. This is the first one we've done since we were out on tour. This feels fun. Oh, I'm so glad. I like, maybe our fan base has learned a little bit about us after being on the road. Maybe they've learned a little bit about us after we hung out with all of our fun guests. I feel like Tyler and Buckley really spilled the beans on a lot of stuff. Thanks a lot, dudes.
Starting point is 00:01:52 but yeah maybe all of that information prompted even deeper questions I wonder if they're going to be deeper or sillier I mean yeah what are you guys fishing for what's our first question what do you want
Starting point is 00:02:09 okay Clementine says what's your comfort food peanut butter and jelly on crackers what you eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on crackers sometimes I don't do it very often anymore
Starting point is 00:02:24 because it really does immediately make you feel like kind of gross and bloated but there's sometimes with a glass of milk I could take three or four of those on a plate what kind of cracker
Starting point is 00:02:33 like a saltine or like a club cracker I've never heard of peanut butter jelly on a cracker and now I'm like really? Here I go. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:45 Oh that was like one of my favorite childhood snacks you can give it to your kids they'll think it's amazing. Okay. I... I don't know why, but one of my favorite things to do, maybe it's because we drive now so often between, you know, our home in the city and the ranch. And there's a grocery store I really like kind of halfway.
Starting point is 00:03:06 So it's like the perfect point to pull over, get a snack, pee, get a coffee. I can do everything in one spot. And I love to get like a really good container of chicken salad and a box of rosemary crackers. It's like the boogiest comfort food. It's hysterical. I just scoop chicken salad with a cracker the way people eat chips and salsa, which also obviously I love, but like risky in the car. It's just, I love it so much.
Starting point is 00:03:36 What was that grocery store out at the beach that had chicken salad? I feel like you liked the chicken salad at the beach, too. Of course, yes. The co-op by, what was that place called? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, what was it? Remember, and they had that cute little deli where you could get like a falafel wrap? Oh, God. I love that place.
Starting point is 00:03:53 Chicken salads, man. I don't know. Like, when people say comfort food, is that something that I have to make myself? Because that sounds like trouble. No, it could be just something that you go pick up. I don't know. Joy, you made fun of me on tour. You were like, you don't like food, Hillary.
Starting point is 00:04:18 Like, I'll just literally eat anything that's in front of me and not care at all. I don't think I care about my taste butts. But I make a chicken pot pie with jalapeno and honey that is... I want that. And that is, like, the thing that I make when I'm like, this is me time. Yes. I love that. Oh, I love that.
Starting point is 00:04:43 You know what I... When you said order, like the thing that I probably order... order the most often in L.A. is Fah. Like Vietnamese noodles soup. That is truly my favorite thing to eat. And anytime I get home from the trip, like when I got home from tour and just was like a corpse person walking around my house, Grant looked at me and was like, are you okay? And I was like, I don't know. It's early. I feel like I want to go to sleep. But I think I'm not supposed to go to sleep until it's dark out. And he just went, oh, honey, do you want me to order you some Fah? And I was like, yeah. I really do. Baby. That's so great. Sweet. I do. Yeah. Oh, man. No, ordering food is an act of love. Carlin says if you could go back in time and relive one year of your life, which would it be? Girl. Is that to like celebrate or to avoid the dumbest thing you've ever done? I need any more information, ma'am.
Starting point is 00:05:37 You need to be clearer, Carlin. Yeah, boy, I would definitely go back and relive a year where I did the dumbest thing ever rather than relive like a fun year for sure. So you could undo it. Yeah. Although, you know, I will say, and I've talked about this before, my year in New York, after I got off the soap opera and I was just living off of my, I just spent all my money living in New York. And I saw shows every night and I ate at great restaurants. And that was from 19, when I was 19 to 20, it was that year. And it was just fantastic. That was my favorite, favorite year.
Starting point is 00:06:14 I would be fun to live again. Yeah. I mean, this sounds so pathetic, but I really enjoyed my senior year in high school because it was the year I decided I was not going to have any rules for myself. Like, I was like, I'm not going to be anyone's girlfriend, but I'm going to kiss everybody. I'm not going to, you know, buckle down and commit to anything here in Sterling, Virginia, because I'm going to New York, you know? Like, I just, I dressed the way I wanted to dress. I'd always been really, like, drawn to androgeny, but felt, like, the first couple years of high school, like, I had to be this cheerleader.
Starting point is 00:06:54 And so senior year, I just leaned into all the weirdness. And I had, like, a really solid pack of girlfriends. Like, that was a fun year. We got into so much trouble that year. I would do that again. That sounds like a blast. That's so fun. Maybe that's why I ended up doing a teen drama.
Starting point is 00:07:13 Because I was like, I'm good at this. I can do this game. Time travel. Yeah, don't let my kids hear that. They're going to be like, you didn't want to go back and give birth to me all over again? No. Sorry. You didn't want to be pregnant with me again, Mom?
Starting point is 00:07:31 No. I love you so much. James wants to know. What is a thing you learned as a teenager from doing the show that you wish all teens could know? Like, what did you learn in round you? where you were like, oh, I should go back and tell the kids this tidbit. Don't take yourself too seriously. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:07:55 I feel like we get versions of this question a lot, and so I'm always like, what did I say before, but also what have I remembered since then? I would I My advice when I was actually in high school was not to drink and do drugs and like I had to I make it I made a joke out of it I was like hugs not drugs and I started the club clean teens in high school to try to make it cool and I would say that I feel the same way even after doing our show I think that there are so many pitfalls for kids to you know fall into ruts or get in trouble or Yeah, I think that there's enough hard shit going on when you're a teenager that you don't need to add those variables. And so, yeah, hugs, not drugs, kids.
Starting point is 00:08:45 Valerie wants to know, have you ever answered to your character's name in real life? Only if I knew someone was, usually I don't. If somebody calls out Haley, Haley, I don't respond. But there have been days when I'm occasionally, like, in the mood. Or if somebody's just really, really going like, Haley, Haley, hey, Haley, Haley. And I'm like, okay, stop. I'll answer. Yes.
Starting point is 00:09:06 And then we have a nice chat. But not otherwise. Yeah. No. No, if I just heard someone yell Brooke, I would not turn around. You would look. You would. Well, no.
Starting point is 00:09:20 It's such a common name. Like, honestly, I don't think so. Yeah, it's not like Peyton. But I will say, like, oh, best experience ever. I remember years ago. I was working in Vancouver and this sweet boy. just like, I don't know, he must have been like 20 and was just like flamboyant, gay, fabulous dressed, had like amazing makeup on.
Starting point is 00:09:42 Like, he was like having a moment. And he was like walking, you know, crossing my path wherever we were. And he turned and went, you're Brooke Davis. I'm Brooke Davis. And I was like, yes, you are. Yes, I am. Who are you? Hug me?
Starting point is 00:09:59 Like, it was just this fabulous, like, interaction that we had. And then we wound up having this chat about how her journey on the show got him really into fashion. And like, it was just, it was like a daymaker experience. But like the way he yelled Brooke Davis, I was like, I want to talk to this person. So, yeah, I don't know. I think it's a, I think it's a case by case thing. But if I get first name, last name, then like, yeah, I'm going to look because I know that that's meant for me. But yeah, it's, you know, Brooke is not my name.
Starting point is 00:10:31 I feel like it would be much harder to not. think the name Peyton has to do with you because it's so unique. Yeah, exactly. We live in a college town. There's like three colleges surrounding our house. And so there's this influx of young women who are all just discovering the show. And, you know, the thing that we deal with all the time is that if someone is going to binge one tree hill, in their brain, you still look like you're 22 years old. And we all know that I've leaned in hard to the gray hair and the grumpiness and, like, the farm attire and, like, a different visual. And so in the supermarket, when a child comes up and is, like, very confused,
Starting point is 00:11:13 because they're like, I hear your voice. That's what I get. They're like, I heard your voice, and you sound like Peyton from one tree. And I'm like, yeah, I ate her. She's buried in me. I'm the dragon. I love that. You sound like Peyton.
Starting point is 00:11:31 What else? Ashley wants to know. What future episode from any season that you remember are y'all excited to see and talk about? State Championship. I love the state championship. Oh, yeah. I don't remember that one. State Championship was fun.
Starting point is 00:11:50 I'm really excited about Honeygrove. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, that'll be fun. I wore the shirt from that episode yesterday. You did? Yeah, for Halloween, I wore that shirt Peyton wears. I'm also really excited to come back at the top of season five. I loved the time jump.
Starting point is 00:12:06 I loved it. Yeah. I can't think of what's coming up. I don't know. It's all kind of blanked out. Eventually, it'll be fun to watch when Nathan gets kidnapped by the Russian mafia. Oh, God. He was undercovered.
Starting point is 00:12:18 I mean, that's going to be hilarious. Wait, well, what about when Nathan was hot in the wheelchair with the long hair? You got to yell it up. Pull it together. Pull it together. Yeah. James had his hair extensions in. Yeah. I was.
Starting point is 00:12:29 I just. Did he an extension? I thought he actually grew his hair out. No, they gave him extensions. I remember because he was like, how do you guys do this? My head's itchy. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:38 And we were all like, yeah, kids. Welcome. Welcome to hair and makeup. Tougher. Speaking of hair and makeup, Hannah asks us, how long did it take to physically get ready for
Starting point is 00:12:47 a scene, hair makeup, and wardrobe, et cetera? That's a good question. Yeah, I mean, standard practice for the gals is normally you're in two hours before call. So if we're expected to be ready,
Starting point is 00:13:00 on set at 7 a.m., we're usually in the makeup trailer by 5 a.m. Because you have to give each artist their time. So like come in with wet hair, they've got to dry it, give you a blowout, curl it. And it seems like a long time. But the reason that it's so time consuming is because everything has to match every day. Like it has to look exactly the same. So it requires so much more time and effort than you would normally put in to just leave your house. house and because you're you're in makeup and you're probably on on camera about you know 12 to 14 hours a day that makeup really has to last so it's like a big process every day and you know you're like drinking coffee trying to eat eat your breakfast while people are putting stuff on your
Starting point is 00:13:48 face and you're reading lines with your co-star in the next chair because you're doing 10 pages a dialogue a day so it's like they like to give you enough time to have you know at least 45 minutes in hair, 45 minutes in makeup, then you've got to be able to, you know, you have to budget the time from even like walking from hair and makeup to wherever your trailer. Your trailer is getting into your breakfast. Changing into your wardrobe, which can sometimes be really time consuming because things have to be like sewn on to you or they've got to stitch your microphone like into your dress to hide it. There's all these things you don't have a new costume that they have mended or altered and then you get it and you put it on and something doesn't fit anymore.
Starting point is 00:14:29 So now they've got to figure out a new. There's, like, always complications that come up. So they try to add a lot of extra time and just really pat it. Do you know how frustrating it is to be married to a male actor who goes to work five minutes before crew call and just, like, walks on to set and doesn't have anybody futs with him? Like, I have been on sets where hair and makeup's like, yeah, Jeff won't let us touch him. He just goes to set and just works. And I'm like, what? talking about it may look different but native culture is very alive my name is
Starting point is 00:15:09 Nicole Garcia and on burn sage burn bridges we aim to explore that culture it was a huge honor to become a television writer because it does feel oddly like very traditional it feels like Bob Dylan going electric that this is something we've been doing for a hundred of years you carry with you a sense of purpose and confidence that's sierra teller who with Rutherford Falls became the first native showrunner in television history. What I told people, I was making a podcast about Benghazi. Nine times out of ten, they called me a massacist, rolled their eyes, or just asked, why. Benghazi, the truth became a web of lies. It's almost a dirty word, one that connotes conspiracy theory. Will we ever get the truth about the Benghazi massacre?
Starting point is 00:16:25 Bad faith political warfare. And frankly, bullshit. We kill the ambassador just to cover something up. You put two and two together. Was it an overblown distraction or a sinister conspiracy? Benghazi is a rosetta stone for everything that's been going on for the last 20 years. I'm Leon Nefok from Prologue Projects and Pushkin Industries. This is Fiasco, Benghazi.
Starting point is 00:16:53 What difference at this point does it make? Yeah, that's right. Lock her up. Listen to Fiasco. Benghazi on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Abby says, do you practice kissing scenes or do you just go for it? No. Practice, no, that would be really. I mean, I guess if there's like, even if you're doing a love scene, it's a lot of choreography, but you don't sit there practicing, kissing.
Starting point is 00:17:22 No, that's a, that's a boundary thing, you know. Yeah. You, we're required to fake romantic relationships on screen as part of our jobs. But no, at most what will happen is for camera when you're rehearsing and two people have to kiss. You know, you'll figure out the choreography like who walks up to who and when does one actor put their arms around another actor. And then when it's the moment that they're supposed to kiss, what you'll do is just pass each other a little. put your faces cheek to cheek so that camera can see, you know, do we need to adjust a light to make sure both of these people are lit when their faces go together or not?
Starting point is 00:18:08 But no, you wouldn't. Has it ever happened to you? Has anybody ever kissed you on a blocking rehearsal? Like somebody who maybe didn't know or? I did have someone kiss me on a blocking rehearsal for a film I was working on. And I was so shocked. Like, I was, I was so stunned that I could. couldn't, I didn't, and he's a lovely person.
Starting point is 00:18:30 Can you tell us who was later? Yeah, I'll tell you who was. And I will say, the scene is intense. And so we had a private rehearsal with the director. And what I came to realize later in kind of talking about the scene after this private rehearsal when camera was like, camera and the lighting crew were doing the room is, you know, he was like, yeah. And, you know, does that, did that kind of feel like the right? energy. I mean, I didn't just want to, like, you know, do that in front of everybody for the first time because it's, like, pretty aggressive. I don't like this person I have to play today. And I realized it was like, in his brain, he was like, I just wanted you to be prepared. And I was like, I just, I would have told me, dude. But it was like, I could just tell he was so nervous about it. And he didn't want to, like, make me uncomfortable in front of the whole crew. So in his mind, he was like, well, I'm just going to show you what I'm going to do in this private rehearsal. I was so stunned when it happened. I was like, oh.
Starting point is 00:19:27 okay and yeah i it was so genuine i know but my god it had it really you're red right now like you're buzzing right now i'm sweating i'm just like oh my god yeah it's um it's always weird guys kissing people on camera is always super weird have you ever had somebody kiss you in a rocking rehearsal but only if i've been asked like they're they're like i can i kiss you right now so we can just like i want to map this out a bit because we have to be moving around the room and you know, it's something like, yeah, let's do it. And then that's fine. I don't, I don't mind.
Starting point is 00:20:02 But I do like to be asked. Yeah. Not just pounced on. I mean, in work. In real life, that's a different story. But yeah, when we're working, definitely ask me. And there's also that weird thing of when you have to sit with someone who you have to kiss and be like, okay, where are our boundaries? Like, and you have to sit with the director and go, how intense is this scene supposed to be?
Starting point is 00:20:22 Are we, are we open mouth kissing? Are we faking it? Are we, is this a peck? is there like is this hot and heavier they're supposed to be hands involved and you guys it's like the least sexy most terribly awkward conversation to have in the world you have to have it because you everyone has to know exactly what's expected of them um you know for safety and comfort but wheefe it is yeah it's pretty weird well this is kind of funny who's your teenage and current celebrity crush or hall pass so I guess like what does that mean who we'd want to do a kissing
Starting point is 00:21:02 scene with it's a nice segue Jeffrey Dean knows who mine is and he's good with it I have had a thing for John Goodman my whole life there is something about his booming voice and that like big boy stature and like the character actor in him that Jeff knows He's like, if Goodman comes along, watch out. That's my guy. Oh, my God, I love it. My teenage crush was a teenage crush is definitely different than like a middle school crush. High school.
Starting point is 00:21:41 Who's that of crying? I mean, I had a crush on like Robert Downey Jr. and John Malkovich in high school. Interesting. John Malkovich, okay. Okay. Downey tracks. Was that like of Mice and men, John Malkovich?
Starting point is 00:21:53 Or like what, what did you see him in that you were like, I like this? Dangerous liaisons. Okay. And yeah, of mice and men, I was just so attracted to his talent. I was so blown away by his ability. I mean, I'm really attracted to talent. So it's, that was a no-brainer for me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:12 Even though I can see how he's kind of like awkward. Yeah, Grant knows, he grant knows all of mine. Because like, you know, you sit around and you talk about all of your history with your, you know, your person. what he loves he just now he thinks it's like the funniest thing conversation somebody asked like what is that meme that goes around being like what's your sexual what who was your sexual awakening on TV yeah and I love getting the like especially from like all the cool young queer girls being like Brooke Davis for sure I'm like thanks guys thanks guys so I showed one of those to grant recently and he was like he was like well who were yours
Starting point is 00:22:55 And I was like, oh, hands down when I was a kid. My parents were kind of like, well, we don't know what to make of our kid yet because I was madly in love with Tom Selleck on Magnum P.I. And I was also super in love with Melissa Etheridge. Oh, my God. I would just like walk around the house singing, come to my window. And my parents were like, we don't know which way she's going to go, but honestly, she has great taste. Do you remember that music video?
Starting point is 00:23:16 Sophia, I used to sneak that music video. Oh. Because we weren't allowed to watch MTV. And I remember hiding in a back room in my house just like, go to me. So I was staying up late, sneaking MTV to watch her and then watching reruns of Magnum P.I. And my parents were just like, you just be whoever you want to be a kid. All right. Have the whole buffet, honey.
Starting point is 00:23:40 Take what you want. And now, now Grant trolls me in the cutest way because he knows how much I love her. And he just like forwards me do a leap of videos on Instagram. You're obsessed with her. I love her so much, you guys. like I just I just think she's really amazing
Starting point is 00:23:58 so you know but he's also like this is cool yeah and here we are that's fine yeah it's great it's good to know
Starting point is 00:24:07 who your partner's crush was too because Jeff's was Pat Benatar so when we got to be with her in Vegas I'm telling you he was just like tell me everything
Starting point is 00:24:15 how she looked like how tall is she in real life thank you did you guys like exchange info or anything Yeah, like, okay. There's a picture that for you? That sounds good.
Starting point is 00:24:26 I'll put that in my trailer. I love it. I love it. So sweet. Yeah, man. Okay. Oh, man. Who do we have?
Starting point is 00:24:34 Oh, this is a good question. Enrique wants to know. If you could bring one character from Dawson's Creek to one tree hill, who would it be and why? I think we're all going to say the same thing. Busy Phillips? I mean, I was going to say Michelle Williams. But the fact that this. their best friends?
Starting point is 00:24:54 Can we get the deal? That's the thing. Can we have them both? Michelle would be great, like, as a human to have around, but Busy's character would have been just so fun to, like, come in. Well, Bizzy's also just so fun. Like, she is so, so cool. It's funny, I think, because we all know her.
Starting point is 00:25:11 It's so easy to be like, well, we've never really hung out with Michelle, and she's, she would be cool to add to the full too. Fan girling. Yeah, it's full fan girl. It's so embarrassing. But yeah, like the one I know and the one I don't, a thousand percent, I would love to get busy at Michelle. That's the duo. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:31 They're just so cool. I recently watched Lou Valentine again and just was like sobbing into my iPad. While I was on location for this movie, I was just like, you know when you have that moment where you're like, I want to put on that record that makes me kind of sad. Yeah. I just like had that moment where I was like, I want to watch a sad movie. Feel some stuff. And man, I was just like, oh, God, I forgot. Somebody make me feel something.
Starting point is 00:25:58 Yeah, Michelle makes me feel things. But wait, are there any of the boys? We had James on the show, and he fit really, really well. My God. He is so great. I mean, Chad is from Dawson's Creek, you guys. Like, kind of, we did that. Oh, my God, you're right.
Starting point is 00:26:14 I forgot. That's true. Yeah. That's true. Nailed it. Wow, we did. We brought a character. Many.
Starting point is 00:26:22 It may look different, but native culture is very alive. My name is Nicole Garcia, and on Burn Sage, Burn Bridges, we aim to explore that culture. It was a huge honor to become a television writer because it does feel oddly, like, very traditional. Listen to Burn Sage Burn Bridges on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your What I told people, I was making a podcast about Benghazi. Nine times out of ten, they called me a massacist, rolled their eyes, or just asked, why. Benghazi, the truth became a web of lies. It's almost a dirty word, one that connotes conspiracy theory.

Listen to Fiasco, Benghazi, on the IHeart Radio, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Oh, I like this question, too. I like the sort of fantasy options for things we could have done on our show. Brie wants to know if Wentry Hill was filmed in another city, which city would you want it to be? New Orleans.
Starting point is 00:28:43 Oh, I was going to say New York. Oh, yeah. I mean, I like the kind of neighborhood. vibe that our show had, walking around the blocks and stuff. I only say that because in our early 20s, I was in New Orleans all the time. Like, the idea, and like, we both, we all film movies there and had, like, such a time. The idea of shooting a series there, God, we would have been, we'd had so many more tattoos right now. I know.
Starting point is 00:29:12 That's the thing. We would have gotten in so much trouble. I think what I, New York jumped out at me for some reason, just like thinking about my, you know, my mom growing up in T-neck, like, right over the George Washington Bridge in New Jersey, there are actually so many neighborhoods like around Manhattan that feel not dissimilar to the way Wilmington felt on our show.
Starting point is 00:29:36 And there is just something about like that scrappy East Coast energy that I love so much. And I think it just could have been so fun. Hillary, imagine how much easier your commute would have been. You could have just driven over the bridge and said I had to get on a plane every seven. Yeah, but listen, listen, the commute helped me
Starting point is 00:29:52 break up with my boyfriend at the time. So that was up last night when you're 20 years old. All right. All right. It protected you a little bit of like that. I needed to move states. You know what would have been fun though? Jackson Hole. Have you guys been to Jackson Hole? No. It's so beautiful. It's just unbelievably beautiful. There's a huge young community there. And I mean, it's definitely a mountain town. It's a different vibe than the Southern. But we would have been a ski show and there's like just so many young kids having dramatic lives in high school in Jackson Hole and they're skiing and then they're water skiing in the summer and they're hiking and it's like extreme sports and it's so beautiful. And then in the summertime, they work in all
Starting point is 00:30:31 of the resorts and the hotels because there's a huge influx of tourists. Yeah. It would have been a good place. So basically it's like Tree Hill meets the X games. I'm not mad. I was going to say it sounds like White Lotus. Like our show just needs to go to like a different resort. Everything. Oh, my God. I love that show. I'm in. Fine. I mean, I guess that kind of answers Allie's question.
Starting point is 00:30:56 She says, what other show do you think your character would fit well in? I 100% want to send Brooke Davis on White Lotus. Oh, my God. She would be hilarious. That's perfect. That's great. I love that. So it's so great.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Yeah, Peyton, God, where would Peyton fit? Probably on one of those, like, vampire shows or something. I feel like Peyton has exhausted. all the bad things that can happen to a human in like mortal life, it's time for her to move on to something I like that supernatural where she's like, God damn it, I got to deal with
Starting point is 00:31:28 werewolves now. Honestly, that checks out so hard. That would be so funny. Haven't I done enough? That would actually be so funny. Where would Hayley go? Would she go? What's that new? Oh my God, there's a billboard for it on sunset and I see
Starting point is 00:31:44 it all the time. It's the big new country show. Isn't it about the judge? Oh, monarch. Monarch. Like, yeah. Sure. Joy, I think Haley could have gone on to do like a truly like music, music based show, don't you? Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. I could see her doing that. I could see her just getting out there and taking over Nashville. Yeah, why not? Right. Yeah, but you want to be on Yellowstone. Joy's like, I don't give a fuck what Haley's deal is. I'm going to Yellowstone.
Starting point is 00:32:13 Oh, for sure. Well, yeah, that's what I was like, well, I mean, Haley, I guess Haley would end up on Dawson's or Felicity or something. She's a very like or like what was the one that was shot out in the mountains with Emily Van Camp. What was that? Oh yeah. What was it? Everwood. Everwood. Oh, ever would. I was like revenge. No. Sorry. No. Haley's a very. She fits in those shows. But yes, I want to be on Yellowstone. Can you imagine Haley in Yellowstone? So good. Come on, guys. Can we get along? Just be good to each other. They need you. No. I need Kevin Costner to have a long-lost daughter that his wife never told him about so I can be Beth's sister. And then we can love, hate each other.
Starting point is 00:32:56 That feels fun. Yeah, that's my pitch. Wait, so Bailey wants to know what your guilty pleasure TV show is. Is that a guilty pleasure show or is it just your pure pleasure show? Oh, yeah, no, I just love. I mean, there are times when I'm like, this is so silly, but I do love it still. But overall, no, it's really great. It's a beautiful show.
Starting point is 00:33:17 It's so well done that it doesn't feel like a guilty pleasure to me is something that's like a little trashy or a little sappy or a little over the top. I mean, you guys know mine. Like my. Yeah, Love Island. Yeah, the vortex I was sucked into during the pandemic was Love Island, UK. And I'm like, truly, Grant and I were trying to explain it to some friends. And our girlfriend, Sammy, was like, the two of you who can give like dissertations. explaining Love Island, she was like, I want to do it as a TikTok series. And I was like,
Starting point is 00:33:52 okay, like whatever amuses you. Yes. Because I know it's ridiculous, but we're so in. Like, we're just in. And I can't, I never thought I would be there. I've never seen a real housewives. I've never, like, I don't, I don't know how to relate to any of these things. And now I'm like, oh, there it is. I do watch any of those, um, making the cut project runway, Like, whenever it goes around, I watched Project Runway, like, way back in the day. I just sort of fell off. I don't know. But that feels, I know they're hyped up and whatever because they're reality shows.
Starting point is 00:34:26 But, like, I do enjoy watching people's creativity. Like, I love to watch a home renovation show. I don't consider that. Like, a guilty pleasure, but, oof, like, here I am. It's this year. I'm in reality TV. Oh, that's so good. I don't know what to say about it.
Starting point is 00:34:41 My husband loves it. Jeffrey loves it. He watches. every single show, and I hate TV on in the bedroom. I hate it. And there is one show that he would wait for me because he knew I would
Starting point is 00:34:55 pretend to read a book but really be watching. And then finally I had to admit I was super fucking into it. It was Vanderpump rules. All those little fucking way. It was all those old kids pretending to wait tables in Beverly Hills. I was
Starting point is 00:35:10 obsessed with them. I am so invested in their relationships. listen, Jacks is a monster. Jacks is the Dan Scott of Beverly Hills and I love it. Wow. So much. And so he, yeah, he took to waiting for me.
Starting point is 00:35:25 And I really, I appreciated that he never made me admit that I liked it. But I do. Spectacular. They're so messy. They make me feel normal. Oh my God. I love it. I love it.
Starting point is 00:35:40 Let's do Christina's. How did you spend your personal time when you were filming? like the off time because there is a lot of sitting around. I wrote a lot and I wrote music. I wrote scripts and songs and essays and I would just sit and write all the time. And I also knitted. There was so much knitting.
Starting point is 00:36:03 That's really all I did. You? I had a pretty active social life in Wilmington. I mean, I was out every night with somebody doing something. I really, it was important to me to go and make friends with people that we didn't work with because when... But like on set, what did you do? Sorry, I go keep talking about it. Yeah, I mean, on set, I was dating the AD staff, you know, like I was, I was, I was, my boyfriend was there, my brother was there, you know, my boyfriend's dad was there, and like, the whole family worked on the show, and so I would hang out with the whole family.
Starting point is 00:36:38 I had a band with the sound department and the prop guys. But when I worked at MTV, it was like faux pa to hang out with talent after work. Like, that's just who you worked with. And then you went home and, like, you know, you had your other people. And we were trained not to do that. So when I got to Wilmington, I was like, oh, I'm going to go make friends with, like, the metal bands or the improv kids. Because that's what you're supposed to do, right? And it wasn't until we started doing movies and stuff that I was like, oh, no, you could, like, hang out with.
Starting point is 00:37:12 with your coworkers after work. And that's okay, too. It was just a training thing. It was different. Well, that's so interesting. Yeah, I think, like, I was so entrenched in our little community, I think, from going to camp. And then also, like, being an only child, just having no idea about anything. I was like, we're here.
Starting point is 00:37:31 Like, let's all hang. Let's be best friends. And then it was really through, like, friends at work that I made my best, like, non-cast. crew friends in town you know like like through jane and tricky i got to be friends with step and like then step's whole crew downtown like yeah you i'd meet people at level five like but yeah i don't know i think i think i was always a little i mean i am i'm a little bit of an anxious person like i get nervous about outside so i'm always like can we she's an indoor cat guys i'm like if we can be together and then move around together it's like why i want to live on a commune
Starting point is 00:38:10 And I'm like, we could just all be here, and this would be great. Yeah. Yeah, but Wilmington was good for, like, rando things. Like, there was the time when they were doing the murder mystery cruise on the paddleboat. We were like, oh, yeah, we got to do that. That was fun. Ghost tours. On the paddle boat.
Starting point is 00:38:29 I loved a ghost tour. Firebelly had taco nights. That was a big deal. Yeah. It was interesting to try to figure out, you know, how to balance. Because you're at work, like, almost every hour you're away. and then you know you want to be with people and build a relationship outside of work but then there's also all your relationships at home that you're supposed to keep up with
Starting point is 00:38:50 so I always thought a little um I always kind of felt like I was failing I was either not seeing like my friends and family at home enough or I wasn't around for local stuff enough and you know still at this point in my life I'm like if there could just be 35 hours in a day I could really nail it I feel the same way I'm still constantly feel like I'm failing yeah that's that's the feeling that like stays with me forever so i don't know well i'm gonna buy you two fucking trophies man you guys i'm getting participation trophies for the both of you because i thought you guys were fine no i've actually like i've come to peace with it now i'm like oh yeah i'm definitely failing a couple of things in life that's just going to be part of life i can't
Starting point is 00:39:32 like expect myself to do everything you want to i used to i used to and now i'm just like oh yeah man that sucks. I couldn't get to that. Well, maybe tomorrow.
