Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. It may look different, but native culture is alive. My name is Nicole Garcia, and on Burn Sage, Burn Bridges, we aim to explore that culture. Somewhere along the way, it turned into this full-fledged award-winning comic shop. That's Dr. Lee Francis IV, who opened the first Native comic bookshop. Explore his story along with many other native stories on the show, Burn Sage, Burn Bridges. Listen to Burn Sage Burn Bridges. Listen to Burn Sage Burn Bridges on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:00:34 First of all, you don't know me. We're all about that high school, drama girl, drama girl, all about them high school queens. We'll take you for a ride and our comic girl. Drama girl. Cheering for the right team. Drama queens, drama queens, smart girl, rough girl, fashion but you'll tough girl. You could sit with us, girl. Drama queen, drama queens, drama queens, drama queens, drama queens.
Starting point is 00:00:58 Hi everyone. Welcome back to a very special episode of Drama Queens. As you may have heard, we all got to spend a couple of days in Wilmington together recently. Well, some folks got to spend a couple of days. I actually flew on a red eye from the West Coast to get there for Sunday. So I got to see almost everyone and it was an absolute dream. We had all sorts of special podcasts planned with our friends at Airbnbs and hotels. And then, And Sunday, when we were gathered together, taking photos and hanging out with people and answering fan questions, I just thought, wait a second, everybody's here. Should we surprise the people at Trick and do something live?
Starting point is 00:01:45 Bevin and DeNeil were game. And so Easton helped us rush all of our equipment upstairs, and we wound up surprising the fans and the volunteers, and we got to hang out together. and it was perfect. Enjoy. Someone who shall remain nameless brought us a bottle of wine. Yay. So when I told you that it was going to be us for cocktails, now you're here for cocktails.
Starting point is 00:02:14 Welcome. Cheers. Thank you all so much for staying. So many of you that are listeners and many of our lovely people out in the world in the One Tree Hill fam send us really good Q&A questions. and, like I said, we were supposed to do this by ourselves, but I actually do think some of these are very good. So.
Starting point is 00:02:34 We have not seen them yet. No, they haven't. I wouldn't let them. I thought it might be more fun. First of all, how is your day-to-day, gals? I've been talking today about why I think the conventions are special. I want to know why you like coming to do this. Well, just even being in this space,
Starting point is 00:02:57 that we're in right now. This is my second time doing a convention in this space because I think last time I was here we were all in the gym. Yeah. Which was A-GEM. Did we film in that gym? Okay. But it's so fun being with this group in A-Gem,
Starting point is 00:03:14 and then one of you always asked me to hold, like, a cheerleading pom-pom, and that's great. Because once a cheerleader, always a cheerleader, even if it's on TV. I love coming here because I love seeing you guys and seeing all of you and you're all so kind and you make you bring me right back to that moment I mean it's as if no time has passed and it's so beautiful so it's just fun experience Ditto
Starting point is 00:03:50 In all In all honesty, you guys We know a lot of people That do these sort of things And it is not the same experience That we get with y'all We know you, we've known you And we get so excited
Starting point is 00:04:08 When there's new faces here as well And babies And hey girl Hey girl And it is just it's a moment that like you remember the fact that this show had such an impact on so many people and we also grew up on it we grew up on it and we grew together on it and to get to relive it because you guys love it is kind of as good as it'll ever get right some of us regressed on it
Starting point is 00:04:37 like I was actually I was like I was like in my 30s playing 16 so I was progressing Congratulations. Yeah. I was. Also. Yeah. One of the things that's cool about it, too, is that you guys, and I mean everybody in this room and then this kind of community,
Starting point is 00:05:01 you know, around the country and certainly around the world, like you gave us our show back because it's impossible to do anything for 10 years and have it be like, you know, leave it to beaver. but in this weird way because y'all loved it so much we weren't allowed to quit on it yeah and so we were like well okay i mean and yeah we can all like go and have dinner you know and see our pals at the beach or whatever and then we started revisiting it together and we were like wait a second this was so good yeah so honestly yeah thank you all so much so much We appreciate you.
Starting point is 00:05:48 And, B, I have a question for you because not only is Wilmington so special for you because it's home for you, but even now, when groups like this come back, you don't just see people here. People come to your office. They are coming into the studio, and I love it. You're always welcome in my studio. Please come. So for anybody who's been living under a One Tree Hill Rock,
Starting point is 00:06:14 I doubt anyone doesn't know, but there are people, who knows who's listening to this podcast, where in the world? Can you tell people what we're referring to? Tell people a little bit about the idea you came up with and what brought you home. So I own a cycling studio called Recess. I just could die any time that happens. It's the best. It just makes me feel so proud. And basically, we are a community.
Starting point is 00:06:43 We're a community of people that are moving our bodies in a really gentle way. Sometimes we push ourselves. Yeah, okay. Okay, I know I'm like the resident asthmatic here, but that would not be my... It's hard. It can be. But the beautiful thing about it is there's no numbers, there's no gauges. You take it at your own pace.
Starting point is 00:07:04 I like that. It's mental. You can do as much as you want. And hard. DeNeil had her first day back to exercise. See? Yesterday. It was not gentle, but it was doable.
Starting point is 00:07:15 It was doable. It was completely doable, right? Right. Okay. So it is... The erics are also really fit, so that feels unfair. So fit. And by the way, all the writers are talking about the erics.
Starting point is 00:07:29 They're like, who are the boys? So it's just a really beautiful place where every single person from any background, any physical activity level, whatever it is. for you, you're welcome to come in and move your body with us and we have a really incredible time and it's become more about supporting each other than
Starting point is 00:07:52 anything else and that's the best. Yeah. What's the address? 1-119 Military Cut Off Road Sweet BC. Recess.com Recess by bevenprince.com.
Starting point is 00:08:09 Someone is wearing a hoodie. I don't know if she's still here but no maybe not but it's the merch is great it is great thanks she i mean i facetined my hot girlfriend this morning and she was wearing a new recess sweatshirt and i could die as a north carolina native ashland is just everything to me and my family and she sends me i'm such a creep i'm sorry so Such a creep I'm so obsessed with your girl I know I get it You've never done that
Starting point is 00:08:46 You've never been like Thank goodness In front of her or on FaceTime No you're very normal when she's in the room I am Yeah She is not But the first time
Starting point is 00:08:57 That we got ready to Call her so they could meet You know on a FaceTime Bevin We were talking And then I turned this way To say something to Hillary And I turned back
Starting point is 00:09:09 and all I saw was DeNeil, and Bevin had collapsed onto the ground and was crawling into the dog bed with her dog. And I was like, oh, oh. And then they all decided to take pictures from different angles of this moment. And so I look like a complete jerk. It's fine. You didn't, you didn't. No, it was just like a super amazing fan girl moment. I fangirled hard. It was awesome. It was really great. And she's it. And now you two tech. without me, and I also love that. It's fine. The thing is you guys have to understand is that Sof took a red eye and has maybe had about
Starting point is 00:09:50 a total of three hours of sleep from tonight. See, that baby feels the way I felt this morning. I understand. Yeah. But the thing is, I get to hang out with you guys, and I love it. And you plied me with chicken salad, first and foremost, which is also a love language. I was going to ask what your local wrecks are for this audience that you haven't given to people yet, because everyone knows Tower 7. But Robert's chicken salad is a big wreck.
Starting point is 00:10:18 Big wreck. Binnie's big-time pizzeria. 10 out of 10. Satellite has a taco area attached to it. Block taco. Thank you. Block taco. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:10:34 Delicious. naptoons on the beach Jimmy is one of the best business owners I've ever known him and his wife are really incredible people and they are cooking with no seed oils now just yeah yeah we are stepping up here in Riceville Beach okay yeah
Starting point is 00:10:55 can I ask you guys a question sorry I know I'm supposed to take them in and ask them but I do have one for you would you I kind of have this dream that at some point we do a version of like a pub crawl, but a, like a sightseeing crawl for our community here. Would you be into that? It's music to my ears. Thank you. Is it like a double deck or bus situation with like, are we emceeing it?
Starting point is 00:11:26 Like, are we talking and like pointing things out? Could be. How's it working? Okay. What do you have in mind? Our resident executive producer is like, hold on. I don't know. But I feel like you're the emcee.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Yeah. You know what we need? What? Music. We need the bicycle. Yeah. The bicycle. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:46 The boat moves around town. The bicycle bar. Wait. After hours recess? After hours recess. Bicycle bar. Okay. Everyone's in the friendie.
Starting point is 00:11:58 Don't tell. Right. You'll be our first guests. Okay, so this was a really sweet question that came in online. What is your favorite tradition of hours when we all get together? Peel and eat shrimp. That's mine. Topsel steamer is what you're referencing.
Starting point is 00:12:25 So when we get together, we always go to this place called topsyl steamer, and we get this big shrimp broil, you know, this. sausage, the potatoes, the shrimp, the clams, the whole thing. And we lay it out. And then inevitably, we stay up far too late, like teenage girls, and chat until the wee hours of the morning and regret it, desperately the next day. Not regret. I mean, not truly regret. Just pay for it. Yeah, pay for it. We pay for it. But you know what, that's the kind of next day tired that I wear is a badge of honor. Same.
Starting point is 00:13:00 There's no walk of shame. There's nothing to be embarrassed about. I'm like, I earned how tired I am. Yeah. With my friends. Although I did leave De Niel's house on Saturday morning at around 8.45 in the morning. Did you walk of shame? With no shoes.
Starting point is 00:13:20 No jacket. But we went to a spin class. We did. We made it. We did it, y'all. but it was a moment that I was like oh I caught myself in the mirror when I got home to prepare myself for said spin class
Starting point is 00:13:34 and yeah it really wasn't an image I was super proud of if I were to say that it turns out we're not still in high school no yeah it doesn't hit the same okay I'm gonna skip ahead because this one feels fun for me B you you run this major business but asking for a friend,
Starting point is 00:13:59 would you ever, like, maybe get back into acting? I love acting. I don't just love acting. I love acting with my friends. And I think because I fell into it at a certain age and a certain time, like, it wasn't something that I really understood what I was getting into when I got into it.
Starting point is 00:14:23 I always said I wanted to be an actress. but I think I really just wanted, like, dinner reservations when it was hard to get in. And I didn't understand that that came with auditions and a lot of complications. If there were ever an opportunity to stand with my girls and hang out again, I would be there in a second.
Starting point is 00:14:53 Noted. Wait, wait, wait, Wait, wait. No, dead. Oh, that was good. I wasn't that good. I'm going to work on it. No, dead.
Starting point is 00:15:03 That feels aggressive. Yeah, that's not right. Okay. We'll figure it out. This is what it's like to try to make an audition tape, guys. Yeah. You're just like, that was off, and we're going to go back. Do you guys ever, from this kind of vantage point,
Starting point is 00:15:20 do you ever look back at ways our storylines were written and go like, yeah, that I get. And then look at another thing and think, like, oh, I really would have changed that. I think this would have been cooler, smarter, more fun for me. Do you have anything that stands out? I don't, you know, whenever we were doing the car wash scene for the... You're such a good sport.
Starting point is 00:15:47 There was a car wash scene. We got in a fight, I think. Is that one of the many scenes where we hit each other? Yeah. The first one was at the basketball game. It was like throwing of the like, we were washing cars. Oh, the sponges? Throwing of the sponges.
Starting point is 00:16:05 But at the time, I was like, this is so dumb. And I look so dumb and this is so stereotypical. Like, where's the slumber part? But we also did the slumber party with the pillows. So, I mean, I don't know. But now when I watch it, I love it. So I don't know. It all changes.
Starting point is 00:16:25 And I think some of the storylines that when I read them, I thought were terrible for various reasons and, oh, I don't want to do this. And there's some of the most loved scenes of all time. Yeah. Because I think even when we were in arguments, which sometimes because we were friends, it was like, I don't want to call you that. And I don't want to say that to you. And it feels like, why do we need to be so catty and so mean? But it was so fun, and it was the way they talked to each other. And I know how much a lot of you love those scenes.
Starting point is 00:17:01 But there was love there. Yeah. There was, even in the, like, catty moments, there were, like, type A, recognizing type A. And, like, I don't know. Totally. It's a weird thing. Some of what I feel like I've learned, looking back, on it is, oh, I know we were really well-intentioned to be like,
Starting point is 00:17:23 girls should not be behaving like this. And what are the examples we're setting? And sometimes we were right. But sometimes we did that thing, like, well, I don't want to say, like, hey, slut, to you. But also, teenagers are wild. And now, you know, having a decade on what I knew then, I'm like, oh, I was judging my character.
Starting point is 00:17:49 because I was still in a space where I was so nervous to be judged. Now I don't give a... And I'm like, let me say the meanest, craziest thing. I'm like, let's get in a cat fight. It'll be so fun. Can we call us Dung Coordinator? Like, can we break a table?
Starting point is 00:18:06 And it's weird how you realize that some of our youth made us nervous. Absolutely. I think what makes me feel excited about like, maybe, maybe. maybe we don't know anything maybe getting back into something is like we could do something with absolutely no fear no judgment and just relish sure the empathy and the love stories and the
Starting point is 00:18:34 great things and also the absolute camp and insanity that makes it fun of being on a super fun juicy soapy like drama yeah yes it's like they used to make fun of us on the soup and be like, this primetime soap opera, and I'm like, that primetime soap opera is a pillar property at Warner Brothers Joel McHale. So you're welcome.
Starting point is 00:19:02 Well, he was a big fan. Yeah. Or somebody in, I mean, why else are you talking about it? Yeah, it was like the talk show comic version of like a five-year-old pulling your pigtails on the playground. I was like, I don't like that, but I do know you like me.
Starting point is 00:19:18 Right. Yeah. A little bit of that. It may look different, but native culture is very alive. My name is Nicole Garcia, and on Burn Sage, Burn Bridges, we aim to explore that culture. It was a huge honor to become a television writer because it does feel oddly, like, very traditional. It feels like Bob Dylan going electric, that this is something we've been doing for a kind of of a year. you carry with you a sense of purpose and confidence. That's Sierra Teller Ornellis, who with Rutherford Falls became the first native showrunner in television history.
Starting point is 00:19:59 On the podcast, Burn Sage Burn Bridges, we explore her story, along with other Native stories, such as the creation of the first Native Comic-Con or the importance of reservation basketball. Every day, native people are striving to keep traditions alive while navigating the modern world, influencing and bringing our culture into the mainstream. Listen to Burn SageBurn Bridges on the IHeart Radio app,
Starting point is 00:20:23 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Ooh, I do really like this one. It doesn't have to be fashion, although I know we've been talking about it in this way, which feels very brook-coded. If you could bring back one early 2000s, trend what would it be again doesn't have to be fashion but that's the only place my brain goes susanna monaco wait what's that do you remember the tube tops we all had the two tops and we wore two of them and then they had the straight like pants because you got the extra long and then the regular so
Starting point is 00:21:09 you had a little strip of white exactly or fuchsia yeah coming out the bottom your choice the world is your oyster. Have you noticed? I was like 36 when we filmed this show. So I actually don't remember this. Danielle's like, I wasn't shopping there. Right, no. I had six kids and they decided later they were like she should marry the dad because
Starting point is 00:21:39 after all like that's, they're the same age. Yeah. Okay, listen. the twist that Rachel married Dan Scott that I... First of all, I didn't know this until like a year ago.
Starting point is 00:21:56 We were doing something and Janiel was like, well, you know, when I was married to Dan, I said, excuse me, what? Bevan. I know, I missed it. I, one of the most fun things I ever got to do directing the show was the return of Dan Scott and Rachel
Starting point is 00:22:17 to Wilmington. And this is such an insane sentence to say. They were obviously, for the storyline, primetime hope, landing on a PJ, they were like coming into town on a jet. We had to rent a jet. I was like, how do you rent a jet? And all of our bosses were like, oh, they're there.
Starting point is 00:22:38 I was like, what? I don't know anything about this world. We rented a jet. I'm like, they're there. I just didn't know And I got to have our set deck team make decals Of Dan Scott's talk show phrase To go over the door of the plane
Starting point is 00:22:55 So we could do this shot up the door And then the door would open And then the heels and the fur coat And the red hair And I was like, it's her! It was really fun for me. I was like, I've never felt fancier in my life And then they were like, bitch, you're Cinderella.
Starting point is 00:23:12 I was like, go home. This was a moment. This plane goes back to its owner, and you get in that 15-passenger van and get a ride home. I was like, okay, bye. But it was really fun. That was fun. Did you and Paul just cackle all the time? Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Because, I mean, Paul is, by that time I had left the show, gone back to L.A., Paul Johansson and my husband and I had become really good friends and would hang out all the time. And I think, you know, art imitates life. And we know that happened a lot in the show. What are you talking about, Danielle? Huh? And so I think the writers knew that Paul and I were friends, and they were like, oh, we know that, like, chemistry-wise, these two would, they could really make it look real. And because I adore Paul.
Starting point is 00:24:06 And Paul, when he used to direct, I don't know if this has been shared, but, you know, we had wines while shared. Paul used to make us cry when he would direct. I'm sure. Every time. Like, because he was wonderful, but was just intense and was, sometimes you needed to cry, and so he would get you there in a good way, but just like, you know, Danio, you're feeling this, and, you know, you've got to get there. And he was a wonderful director.
Starting point is 00:24:42 Um, but I just, I loved working with him because I felt like it became so much stronger of an actor in the scenes with him. And I had like my little director right there, um, except he wasn't worried about like time or, you know, because when you're directing something, as you know, you're stressed and sometimes that comes through. But this, he was like, take all the time you need and let's get to this scene. I was really fun. Do you know that my first big scene ever in my entire life was the whole notebook scene with skills? And Paul directed that episode. Yes. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:25:24 Paul directed that episode. And I was physically shaking, you guys. I was like, I want to be an actor. And then they were like, here it is. And I was like, I don't know how to do this. I have no idea how to do any of this And I remember he pulled me aside And he was so warm
Starting point is 00:25:44 And he gave me all of his time and his energy And was like, don't worry about it We'll take as long as we need to get this You're going to be great Everything's good And he was just like That's how the whole experience was for me And I don't and it's 99.9%
Starting point is 00:26:05 To these two women sitting up here now as someone who had never done this like they just sat with me and they're like okay that's a mark that's what you need to stand on you're going to move here you're going to be great we'll go through it you got this like i got the highest degree of television acting education from you too because you sat there and just serving you're natural yeah well you are jinks it's because it's it It's because now I'm a redhead, too. My first on-screen girl kiss is Bevan. What?
Starting point is 00:26:43 Yeah. Right? My only on-screen girl kiss is you. Wow. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. It was good. Soft lips.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Do you remember that? Was it? No. What am I? In the bathroom? Oh, yeah. Pictures of you. Pictures episode.
Starting point is 00:27:05 Where we all did the things with. people. You were with Chase, right? Yeah, because Brooke was in her clean teen phase. Yep. Had that go. Rachel was never in a clean team phase. You tried. You tried. Yeah, that was a special one. Yeah. It's really sweet. Some of you guys brought the yearbooks that have those pictures in them. Are they the yearbooks or other books? Okay, they are the yearbooks, right? I was like, am I speaking out of turn and someone's going to tell me I'm stupid? Do people know in the picture? where I am in the urinal. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:41 And I'm turning away. The man next to me is Hillary Burton's brother. Yes. Do you guys know that? No. That's Billy Burton. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:52 Fun fact. And then my dear friend Jenny Smart, who was my roommate for 10 years, is woman in chair in the episode that Rob Buckley is unconscious and wandering around the hospital with Edwin Hodge. She just nailed woman in chair. She nailed, she became a woman in chair. Yeah. I really felt it.
Starting point is 00:28:16 It may look different, but native culture is very alive. My name is Nicole Garcia, and on Burn Sage, Burn Bridges, we aim to explore that culture. It was a huge honor to become a television writer because it does feel oddly, like, very traditional. It feels like Bob Dylan going electric, that this is something we've been doing for a hundred of years. You carry with you a sense of purpose and confidence. That's Sierra Taylor Ornellis, who with Rutherford Falls became the first native showrunner in television history.
Starting point is 00:28:50 On the podcast, Burn Sage, Burn Bridges, we explore her story, along with other native stories, such as the creation of the first Native Comic-Con or the importance of reservation basketball. Every day, Native people are striving to keep tradition. alive while navigating the modern world, influencing and bringing our culture into the mainstream. Listen to Burn Sage Burn Bridges on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, Easton. No pressure, but will you also ask us a question? Okay. Okay, guys, do you want Easton to go first so you can think about your questions or great now you have no time to think about a question you want to ask but you sit in on this podcast every week so I feel like you might be quick hi my my name's easton
Starting point is 00:29:46 first time caller long time listener and I want to know is there a time you guys can remember filming when like everybody couldn't you couldn't get through the scene like everyone was like breaking too much like is there one that stands out to you Many. And can you name who was the one breaking? I like that you're asking us to just light it up. I have a very specific memory of when Haley and Nathan were getting married. Oh.
Starting point is 00:30:23 Daniel had just joined the show, and we had the worst case of giggles ever that we got yelled at by the director. The director came over and was like, you girls, you literally have to stop. You have to stop this insane. And I was like, I can't. Oh, that was my chin. Wait. Who was the director?
Starting point is 00:30:46 Do we count Greg? I think, wasn't it Greg? Wasn't it Greg? It probably was Greg, right? And he yelled. That was like the finale of season four? It was the mid-season. Three.
Starting point is 00:30:57 Right? Was that when you drove the car into the water? Yes. Yes, but that particular day, I had to do this like, monologue um where i get up during the wedding and like i'm drunk and i'm saying all this stuff so as an actor after you're done with something like that you're like oh like you just feel like all the weights come off because you've gotten through it and it was like a crying whatever and so then i was just like okay now i'm going to be bad while everyone else is working so terrible we just couldn't
Starting point is 00:31:34 Stop. I know. And I should have known better. As we discussed, I was like 47 when I was sorry. It's aging 10 years every time he's saved. Every time. By the end of this, you'll realize she's a vampire. She's 200 years old.
Starting point is 00:31:49 And she holds the secret to youth. I, literally, who said that? Marcus. Oh, my God. I can't. I'm like my favorite movie of all time. Oh, my God. people have always asked me to pick one and I'm like I can't pick one and you just did it for me
Starting point is 00:32:08 thank you sorry that's completely irrelevant to the conversation they said death becomes her in case you didn't hear it it's really a classic highly recommend isn't it now on broadway it is yeah we should go yeah we should absolutely do that or we'd be in trouble a horrible group of people to have in our audience we'll see well I remember um well I remember when you all had the giggles which ironically another wedding it's weird to like watch very young people
Starting point is 00:32:41 get married on a TV show because you're like this this is like weird right it's just weird because you put on a wedding and not only is it like a wedding it goes on for like six days
Starting point is 00:32:54 to be able to film all the scenes so everyone just starts to lose their minds and y'all could not like Antoine in particular could not stop laughing during the Brooke and Julian wedding. Yeah. So that stands out to me
Starting point is 00:33:08 because I was trying really hard to get through it all because I had to obviously be in every scene that week and I was so tired I wanted to die. And Greg also yelled at everyone. And I was like, why does our sweet Greg only drop like, shut the fuck up during weddings? Like, it feels like a weird time to be so mad.
Starting point is 00:33:28 But I remember we really got in trouble. I was not in that just to clear my name. Yeah. You were not stirring trouble that day. Lisa Goldstein and I got in so much trouble in the episode in Karen's Cafe in, I guess, it's, yeah, later season 8 when Brooke and Haley were running it together. And there's the whole storyline with like the nightmare neighbor who's, you know, trying to destroy the cafe and she sends cockroaches. And like, they were so disgusting. Wait, y'all had actual cockroaches?
Starting point is 00:34:02 Yes. And the cockroaches have, like, union protections. You're not allowed to touch them. It's like a whole thing. It was so gross, and we started to laugh at one point because we had to try to get them away from us, but we couldn't hurt them, and then we knocked one over, and we thought we were in trouble,
Starting point is 00:34:18 and then it flipped over like a fucking Terminator bug. And we lost it. I'm so gross. It was horrible. And we couldn't stop laughing, and we thought we were being so funny, and we were like, ha-ha, we'll just go again. and our director stormed out and was like, do you have any idea how expensive
Starting point is 00:34:34 the cockroach handle these are? You're wasting our time. And we were like, sorry. I was like, I didn't know there was a line item in the budget for a bug guy. But cool. And I'll see myself out. Thank you so much.
Starting point is 00:34:51 So, you know, little of that. Those are a few, Easton. Thank you for an excellent question. Do our friends from the audience feel ready to ask theirs? yeah okay can I yeah you're so organized
Starting point is 00:35:05 can I ask something because this feels fun will you tell us your first name what city you live in and then ask your question okay so my name is Franzi
Starting point is 00:35:17 it's a German name it's hard I currently live in Atlanta but I'm from Germany and my question would be if there's any part of your character character storyline would you
Starting point is 00:35:31 that you could change what would it be and why oh oh you stunned us I guess for me my husband wouldn't have died
Starting point is 00:35:49 Dan and I would still be together and would you still have the jet oh don't make that joke that joke that is a dark joke Do not. Absolutely not. Oh.
Starting point is 00:36:01 It's okay to laugh. I had a funny joke. It is totally fine to laugh. We will joke about it in the car, but no. Yes. It's okay. It is okay to laugh. My joke was, do you think?
Starting point is 00:36:09 Bevan also wishes, but that's, yeah. Oh. Besides. Guys, it's okay. It's okay. Oh, my God. It's okay. There he is.
Starting point is 00:36:19 Thank you, honey. I wish Dan Scott and Rachel could have had a beautiful relationship. And the plane. and the plane and the money but I just I wish that would have been real yeah I guess for both of them they both needed love
Starting point is 00:36:37 that's my whole point like it would have been nice for that to have been real yeah to go beyond the business and into something deeper and surprising yeah like that I'm drawing a blank I really wish
Starting point is 00:36:54 that Bevan did not have a child with Tim. And then proceed to name it Nathan. That was gonna be my question. Like I was like, oh, I thought we figured out she was actually really smart. You know, she knew what was going on. She's playing the game.
Starting point is 00:37:21 She worked in the courthouse. Yeah, well, well, it's one of those moments where you read a script and you're like, oh, the writers are just going to pretend they didn't write any of the things that existed before this. Well, that's what it was. And my job is to act it.
Starting point is 00:37:35 That's what it was in the last episode when all of a sudden it was me and Antoine together. I was like, I'm so confused. How did we get here? It's just me and Antoine now? But like, what happened? You're like, where's baby Nathan? Yeah. Is he okay?
Starting point is 00:37:51 Um... Was he ever real? What if Bevan just made all baby like that? That's what I'm saying. I'm in. What if what if Bevin is Tree Hill's Twin Peaks experience? Yes. Well now I want to follow her into what is that?
Starting point is 00:38:13 The alternate universe? Yes. That's my answer. Thank you. My name's Angel. I live in Philly. My question is, what songs recently released would fit the soundtrack? Ooh.
Starting point is 00:38:34 Oh. I mean, all chapel rhone. Right. I was just going to say the giver. Hello? I was going to say the giver because I feel like that would have been a very broke song. Mm-hmm. And then also, oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:38:53 linking good luck babe maybe a little true to life I'm like you may not have seen it but on this side of Bevan's face I just got a wink thank you what are you what are you vibing on I don't know I would have
Starting point is 00:39:10 liked like maybe some more R&B or some more soul or I don't know Dochi yes all day every day Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:23 Wake up, get your t's up. Exactly. Exactly what I was thinking. That's the one. Thank you. Hi. Hello. My name is Ashley.
Starting point is 00:39:39 I live in the D.C. area, but I'm from New York originally. So you all talked a little bit about the finale. I know Bevin got to come back for the finale, but our sweet Rachel was not in the series finale. Rude. Attacked. We were robbed. Right.
Starting point is 00:39:52 Amen. So if Rachel was in the finale, I'm wondering what you would have liked to see her do, or how would she have shown up? Maybe she's in the courthouse with Bevin. I don't know. Well, I just, you know, I know that is not the character, and we've talked about this kind of like what we wanted for ourselves and not confusing our characters,
Starting point is 00:40:20 but just like wanting the best for them like not everybody has a perfect life and I think the reason why people liked watching Rachel is because she wasn't perfect and she messed up a lot and I think I would I would still want that for her because it's relatable and I want to give people that experience I just wish it wasn't like such a like 10 like maybe she like messes up but it's like a four. Yeah. Doesn't have to be so extreme. It doesn't have to be so extreme.
Starting point is 00:40:55 Yeah. You know, so I just wish she could have been better friends with everybody. Yeah. That's what I, like, truly, you know, better friends. Yeah. I think especially it's been interesting when we, as we've watched our show back, you see what good friends Brooke and Rachel were for a while? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:19 And I was like, wait a second. We loved each other. Like, we really did. Like, Rachel was great. And I don't know. I was like, wait, Brooke, like, Brooke has to say goodbye to Peyton and Rachel. I feel, I feel rubbed. And that is me personalizing a little bit, but I'm just saying.
Starting point is 00:41:36 Well, it's such a good point because I think over the age of 40, you have a moment where you look at a lot. Which I was like 57 when we were doing the show. Rachel knew better. and at some point in time, you just have to cut those people out of your lives. You're like, she is so old. She's toxic, I've got to go. My whole point was that, like, at this age, we look back at it.
Starting point is 00:42:02 At this age, are you okay? I don't know. Am I? You're perfect. Okay. At this age, I feel like, in all honesty, we look back in a lot of relationships we had in our lifetime that we had this kind of dynamic with,
Starting point is 00:42:17 where you're sparring with people and you're making fun you're like but it's it is deeply based in love and for a minute when you're young you might think that that relationship isn't something of importance and then I think as you get older and you realize that you were investing time and sparring with this person and you care enough to make the joke I I just think that's a very a beautiful beautiful friendship so that makes sense I think so. Okay, no, it didn't. It does.
Starting point is 00:42:52 It feels like an overarching theme. You know, I dream big. I like it for you. And I think it actually, jokes aside, really relates to the fact that so much of what we've seen looking back on the show is that these friendships are the love story too. You know, when you're young, you think it's got to be like the Nathan to the Haley or the Lucas to the Peyton or whatever. And the friendships, I think, are actually what allow for people to find those kinds of romantic relationships. Like you model with your people. And I think it's part of why this community is really special because if we didn't all want to actually be together, like, y'all would know.
Starting point is 00:43:42 Right. And we do. And it's special. I feel like points of pride today we got to I don't know if they're still here or not but we got to meet a couple who got engaged here yesterday are you all here oh you're back there hi congratulations congratulations and like I feel like
Starting point is 00:44:10 people share their love story with us because this whole world of ours is rooted in all these kinds of love stories romantic and platonic and familial and it's special when you hear someone say like I grew up in a really hard home but I learned how to communicate
Starting point is 00:44:32 with my best friend or with my partner watching your show and you got to do that some of what we were doing on screen was nuts but some of it was pretty cool and we learned how to do that off screen together and that is pretty cool. It's a really long-winded way to answer your
Starting point is 00:44:52 question. Sorry about that. But that's exactly what I meant when I was saying my thing. Okay, clearly we're having the absolute best time and we want to take so many more questions because we're here in the room. The energy is so alive. Tune back in soon for part two.
