Motherfucking happy hour
Make some noise
And right now When you think about it and you think about
independent record labels and you think about people who grind it from the
bottom to the top one of the first names you have to think about is Kareem Biggs
Hoffa hmm and the reason why you got to think about it
is because he was the guy on the front line.
He was the guy who participated.
He was the guy who made sure
Rockefeller was Rockefeller
when Rockefeller needed to be Rockefeller.
And in case you don't understand
who I'm talking about,
we're talking about Kareem
Biggs Burke. Make some motherfucking
noise, guys.
And joining us
as well, because I asked him to participate,
is
Mickey Benson. In case you guys
don't know who Mickey Benson is, he managed
Fat Joe. He managed Big Pun.
And he's still managing iced tea
which means his money is still long oh it's a noise for mickey benson
so we're gonna take it from the top right now right now
uh drink chance podcast we we we honor honor hip hop we represent hip hop
and that's what we want to do
but
the thing about it is
one of the
illest things
I've ever seen
in hip hop
was when
Rockefeller
rap
the buggy eye
bands
right
now at this time
for people that don't know
cause everybody
who got money
you're probably looking at me
and saying
the buggy eye bands you're probably like well that's nothing wrapping the buggy eye biz because
that's the 430 now but back then the buggy eye was like the gs 400 lexus exactly thing 95 right
so i just want to take it from that point yeah what made y'all say let me
take a luxury car because at this time like like now of a for a e4 430 is it's regular right but
back then it was that was the s500 before the s500 i remember doing it but it's funny because
somebody just told me the story the other day.
And what happened was, because that was Dame's car.
And then we found out that Foxy Brown had the same car, and we started cutting him off.
He's like, yo, you got the same car as Foxy?
So Dame took the car, wrapped it, and then we put it in the street team car.
Oh, man. Foxy. Wow. So, Dave took the car, wrapped it, and then we put it in the street team car. Oh, man.
Fox is going to kill me for this.
By some reason, this is going to be a story.
I was coming back to you with Foxy.
I love you, Foxy.
But that's crazy.
So, Dave actually had this car.
Yeah.
And then he found out that Fox had the car.
Yeah. And it was like,
because he's the CEO,
so he wanted to be a little bit above an artist.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, 100%.
So that's what pushed him to wrap it?
Yeah, so he's like fucking making a street team car.
It's a throwaway.
So now, Biggs, this is a 100-year rumor, right?
The 100-year rumor is,
when Rockefeller got started,
there was money that was accoladed,
but the actual money that started Rockefeller got started, there was money that was accoladed, but the actual money that started
Rockefeller came from Biggs. Is that true?
I've been hearing that same thing,
man, for a long time, but
my thing is it don't matter where it came from
or who put in equity, whether it's sweat
equity or whatever it is,
us three coming together, it couldn't have happened
any better. You know what I'm saying? And plus, with
us three, I think that was the trifecta
that made Rockefeller.
That is the greatest nigga answer in the world.
Great answer.
Great answer.
You can't stop answering.
But, Pabase,
we understand you just got off parole.
Probation.
Probation.
Yeah.
There's no paroles in federal.
I'm going to be honest with you.
You used to use me as a guinea pig.
What?
You used to use you as a guinea pig?
That's a fact.
He was on probation, correct?
Yeah, I was.
Back then.
And you would stop every two weeks, like the end of the month?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then you would just roll.
Oh, Big Face Gary's in the building.
Oh, shit.
Hold on, just really.
Let Big Face Gary.
Let Big Face.
Wait, you don't got a mic.
Yo, Mickey, give him two minutes.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
Man, it's time to be around, dog.
Nah, nah, sit down.
Sit your monkey ass down.
I'm that big of Leo here.
What's good baby?
What's up man? How you doing man?
Y'all haul them niggas done gained up on us?
Man I'm here man
Yo yo yo what's going on?
What's up slime?
What's going on?
You a funny dude man
Tell me though Biggs
You snitched
Biggs said yo drink champs
I said that's what it was?
No he called me all day
I said what's going on here man?
You know I called him too like yo I'm gonna be up tired
What you come through?
You ain't calling Nah nah nah Biggs ain't calling since he got that panorama man me all day. I said, what's going on here, man? You know, I called him, too. I'm like, yo, I'm going to be up tonight. What do you want to do?
Nah, nah, nah. Biggie didn't call me since he got that panorama, man. Biggie's got the panorama.
Came home.
About six months, he hit me.
It's my boy. He don't play no games.
With the coffee seats. I thought he loved
me. I'm like, gee, I'm coming to see you.
I ain't seen him since.
I'm like, the Rockefeller show downtown. We had a good time. Biggie pulled up with the panoramas I ain't seen them since Yeah Now I'm like
The Rocket Fuller show
Downtown
We had a good time
Vince pulled up
With the panoramas
You know came home
Did his little time
You know I told him
When he went home
Before he went to jail
I said
The word is you broke
He said
When I come home
I'm gonna show you
If I'm broken
I seen him about
As soon as he came
He pulled up
In that panorama
With the coffee cake seats
I said okay
What you doing man
I said you not playing no games, man.
No, no, leave that there, man.
No, no, no.
You get a drink, man.
What's going on here, man?
Yo, yo, yo, make yourself a drink, Gary.
Make some noise for Big Face Gary.
Get right here, Gary.
Get right here.
Get right here.
Thanks, brother.
So, look, look.
Let me just bring y'all both, right?
Because both of y'all, like, this is the boss.
Big time. Big time boss, right? my friend before the boss though okay you gotta
relax that's my friend I gotta say that all right you can be the boy he the boss
but he's my friend so it's all I'm saying I respect that okay okay so let's
take it from the beginning right at first was you guys starting
Rockefeller before you met home because I heard you on the, what is it called, the white boy shit?
Crazy ass.
I can't think of that right now.
Yeah.
The white boys.
Yeah.
It was a great show, man.
I forgot their name.
I can't think of it now.
That's sad, man.
That's sad.
You a foul.
I ain't foul.
I was just trying to pop it.
You went to them before us.
No, no.
You went to them before us. You went to, because, no, you went to them before.
You went to me.
They got you.
You went to me.
I did that in 1998.
But listen,
so what you were saying was that you guys were trying
to start a company
prior to actually meeting Jay-Z,
right?
Somewhat,
well, not on my end.
My end was just
literally what I said. we used to drink every
day yeah bigs didn't care about the music basically know about that shit yeah bigs was
just a young dude with a bunch of fucking money had all type of cars cheating just like hoopties
were hanging out drinking every day so before you revived bigs just admitted that
bigs money um started rockefeller well I have to admit that yeah
I don't look at bigs like that business big brother was my friend he and he made me big face So we all got close. God bless. God bless Bob. He taught me everything
from the streets on.
Biggs was a young dude
who just had a bunch
of fucking money.
I don't know where
he was coming from.
Dressed like a bum.
Would've talked about it.
Would've be about it.
He had a Honda.
He had money
dressed like a bum?
How did you slip that in there?
Biggs used to play us
to the left so good.
He was humble, Rich.
Am I lying, Biggs?
Biggs, am I lying?
It's a long time ago, man.
When I say bum, Tim's with a white t-shirt. I don't want to go too far. Biggs wasn't into that. He was just doing what he had to do.
And he had the green humble, leather seats.
I said, yeah, what the fuck?
He never talked about nothing.
Never talked.
We used to drink every night.
He acted like nothing.
Normal Biggs.
He had an Acura Ledger BBS Ram.
Treated this shit like a hoopty.
I used to say, let me get that shit.
I just drive that shit for eight days.
He's still in Axl's car.
Yo, baby, I got your car.
I got your car.
I got your car.
I got your car.
I got your car.
I got your car.
I got your car. I got your car. I goted the shit like a hoopty. I used to say, let me get that shit. I had to drive that shit for eight days.
He's still in Axl's car.
Yo, baby, I got your car.
So, Big, let's take it from the beginning.
From the beginning, let's just say, allegedly, you were doing your thing on the streets, right?
You and Dane, y'all peoples.
What made you say that I'm going to stop what I'm doing and just focus on
this part of it now what happened is we had a crew the best out the best out
yeah we got a best out yeah I was in the best out yeah I definitely was it but in
my mind I was okay that's what it was the best out so Dame left the best out
earlier because Darien Dash brought him into the music business which is Dame's
uncle right Dan's cousin Stacey's brother. Okay, which is the
dark-skinned guy with the white-skinned? No, that's Darien. Okay, I'm bummed. Yeah, that's Darien.
Okay, so he was managing... Stacey Dash. Yeah, brother. Brother, whoa. Yeah. So he was...
And he light-skinned? He gotta be light-skinned. Yeah, he's light-skinned. He's smoking like a monster. Okay, go ahead.
He was managing Future Sound, which turned into Original Flavor.
He started going to school.
I thought he said he was managing Future.
I was like, for real?
When he went to college, he brought Dame in to manage Original Flavor.
Dame got to learn the music business like that, came back to the block and was like,
yo, right on 142nd and Lennox was like, yo, we should all do Rockefeller.
You know what I'm saying?
We should put this together.
We can do a music company.
We could do this and that.
And started talking about all this stuff.
Who thought of the name, though?
Tone Hooker.
Tone Hooker.
Yeah, I knew that.
Yeah.
So that next day I called him.
I was like, yo, I like what you was talking about.
And even though, you know, me and Dane was cool, we became real close friends after that.
And we started spending a lot of time together.
And after meeting Jay, I started supporting, like, on the road and stuff like that, bringing the lifestyle.
So who was the guy?
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
And that's how we came together.
But who was the guy who actually met Jay first?
Dang.
Dang.
From Clark.
Oh, from Clark.
Clark actually was on this podcast.
DJ Clark had some people.
But I'll continue.
So because Original Flavor was signed to Clark's label
that's the part
we never got
you should deal with this dude Jay
he in the streets or whatever
and he don't want to stop
the only way that
Jay took it serious
is after meeting Dame
and then when Dame seen him he noticed he had
a pair of Uptowns on,
Air Force Ones.
But why did Jay take it serious after meeting Dane?
I mean, you know how Dane is, right?
So Dane is a motive.
Dane can sell water to a whale.
Yeah, but I'm saying, but he's a genius.
Dane's a genius.
He's business-minded.
He's motivational.
He knew the business.
So it was perfect.
He could be the mouthpiece
where Jay didn't need to be the mouthpiece.
So now you guys come together right now according to bigface Gary at first he wasn't filling Jay right he just wasn't talking to
please be recording to me. I want you to,
because you a Harlem nigga,
and at this time,
for people that don't know,
for people that don't know,
I mean, because, you know,
we have people from Wisconsin
and all type of places
listening to this shit.
If you don't know,
back then in those days,
if you was on Queens,
you stayed with people from Queens.
100%.
If you was from Harlem,
you stayed with people from Harlem. If you was from Brooklyn, you stayed with people from Harlem. 100%. If you was from Harlem you stay with people from Harlem.
If you was from Brooklyn you stay with people from Harlem.
That's why it was important for me to tell you this story when Dame seen him and seen
Jay had on a pair of Uptowns that's when he was like oh shit this nigga cool.
Okay but let me.
You know what I'm saying.
I'm going to give back to Jay.
I'm going to give back to Jay but here's the thing.
Did y'all know that when the Air Force Ones came out,
we all claimed them?
Every borough?
Every borough.
Every borough.
I don't know why they stayed uptown.
But they was called Queens.
They was called Queens.
They was called Queens.
They was called everything.
But they stayed uptown.
I don't understand.
I think uptown won the race.
You gotta relax.
I just feel like. gonna just say anything though
I'm the same guy okay so big now all right, so you're doing your thing on the streets.
Dave comes to you and says he has an artist, right?
You haven't met him yet.
Yeah.
You meet him.
Now, I want to describe that first time you ever walked in.
No, I think the first time I met Jay was in front of Quad
because they had a session, something like that.
And I met him. Yo, Quad, y'all owe me mad money,
me going there, thugged out Thursdays every Thursday.
Oh, let him know.
Quad, you got to cut me a check.
Quad, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, bitch.
But that's where I met him at.
You met him at Quad?
Yeah.
Okay, so now describe the situation.
Nah, it was just an introduction, like,
yo, this is my man, this is Sanad and Jay.
So, I think at that time I know he was messing with them
or managing them at the time,
but it was just like we was just going to hang out.
So, but I think, we probably heard the music before that,
and I was like Summer J early on music,
and you know, I was like, ah, you know.
But it wasn't about me wanting to be a part of it or not.
Dan used to play for everybody.
But you guys were already Rockefellers,
like you already started doing it.
No, no, no, no. They had Fresh were already Rockefellers. You already started your music. No, not yet.
They're fresh out.
The best out.
The best out.
And are there any other artists
you're considering to look at?
I'm not even in the music business.
At all.
So this is just you meeting him for the first time.
Just meeting him.
So I read at an interview somewhere
that it was like the fifth record
that you came to the studio,
and then after that, he was like,
I want to be down?
No.
Okay.
I never said I wanted to be down.
So what happened was when I believed in Jado is when he battled DMX.
So that's the time.
You got to sit down.
This is so big for the drink chat.
All right, but that's what I'm telling you.
Listen, listen, listen.
That's what happened.
Listen, listen, listen.
It's a debate.
This is so big on the drink chat.
We got to actually focus.
Everybody, I don't know.
I don't know.
My man, Red Hat, everybody, come on.
Let's everybody focus in on this energy.
It's big time.
Unlock your energy.
Unlock your energy, God damn it.
Beyond.
Okay.
Beyond.
So right now, we're in Rough Rider neighborhood right now, right?
This is a whole bunch of Rough Riders, right? Well, no, we in the Bronx. We not in their neighborhood. No, I'm talking about right now we're in Rough Rider neighborhood right now, right? This is a whole bunch of Rough Riders, right?
Well, no, we're in the Bronx.
We're not in their neighborhood.
No, I'm talking about right now, where we are right now, right?
So now, the battle.
Yeah.
I want to, because we had Dane describe this battle.
We had Irv.
No, Irv said he wasn't there.
We had DMX actually.
Yeah, DMX actually now DMX says he didn't lose
this battle we had earth recently who said we think X lost hmm but I want you
to describe the scene so what happens cuz Dean is you and Dame cool with deep and I and why?
What happened was we was in the home?
Got Joe's gym and my man Steve Mack and Dan Jones Jim. They cut me. He was on 18
I still got personal with the coat all of us
You know we always argue about whatever anything all the all the time. So he had the Harlem Knights.
Who had the Harlem Knights?
Steve Mack.
Steve Mack, okay.
So Steve Mack knew D&Y.
So he was like, yo, let's have a battle.
Him and Dame got into it about music.
He like, yo, you dudes is whack, this and that, you know, going back and forth.
So they set up the battle, and then we went right after to the Bronx to a pool room on it's like on 100 and
something now close to Webster okay it's like 174 for something like that okay so it was the Harlem
Knights against Original Flavor but then they had Roughness and then they had another um God of Rich
was another dude from Harlem and then he called D and Y,
and then they brought DMX, and then Dane brought J.
So that's how that got set up like that.
Describe what happened.
They walked in.
I heard it's 5,000 guns there.
It's only 20 people with 5,000 guns.
But you don't notice it, right? I'm just saying when you're living that life every day, it's all normal.
Okay, okay. So, you know, when you're living that life every day, it's just like, it's all normal, right? Okay, okay.
So, you know,
they're going back and forth
and everybody else
and the Harlem Nights
is definitely probably...
That's pre-Rough Riders.
Harlem Nights...
So Harlem Nights
had nothing to do with Rough Riders.
If you know about Harlem Nights,
Harlem Nights transformed
into Rough Riders,
but...
Yeah, they say like a lot of,
like the LOX style
came from the Harlem night okay
you know I'm saying right and that was a club all night no no oh there's a gang
that was a group that was a gang
yeah yeah when and I forgot that we're doing that. So now they come in and this big icon who is DMX and this big icon who is Jay-Z, but
they're not icons yet.
The prior to being icons, yeah.
Nah, nah.
But I knew DMX prior to that because DMX used to come uptown on the 145th and just rap in
the park all day.
When he used to say, K-Solo took his style.
He still rhyming that story to all day. When he used to say K-Solo took his style.
He still ride with that story to this day.
To this day, you see DMX, he be like,
I'm still looking for K-Solo.
25 years later, you actually got to relax.
But, so, it's true.
I still want to feel more than K-Solo.
You got to relax.
You understand him?
Yo, he's my brother.
So that's what happened.
So, they come together. So that's what happened. So they come together.
So now what happens?
Because they don't know each other, right?
Nah.
So it's in a pool hall, you said.
Yeah, it's in a pool hall.
So I remember what happened, led up to it,
and how they arranged who was going against who.
But Damon, I mean, Jay went against DMX.
They was going back and forth.
And then the funny thing, Big L was the only one recording everything.
So that recording that y'all see, like here and there, all came from Big L.
But Y was like, yo, our shit ain't incorporated, nothing like that.
Yo, don't tape us.
So that's why the only footage is on Jake.
So the thing about it is we had Irv here.
And Irv said, no, first off, forget us having Irv,
we had DMX here, and we asked DMX,
we said, yo, who won that battle?
DMX said he never lost a battle.
Then I seen an interview with Jay,
and Jay said he never lost a battle.
But the thing about it was, we had just had Irv here,
and we asked Irv, and then Irv said,
that's the only time I ever heard DMX say, I think
the people thought I lost.
He never admitted that he lost.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So how did you feel, in your opinion?
So that's when I became a believer, with Jay.
Oh, with Jay.
Yeah.
So I was neutral.
Is there a lot of people in the pool?
Because Steve Mack is my man, and Dame is my man.
So I wasn't there favoring nobody.
It was at that battle when I was like, yo, this dude Jay is nice.
And he started talking about the streets, right?
My money machine go tat, tat, tat, tat, tat.
And he wasn't speed rapping?
A little bit, but not like, you know what I'm saying?
But are people reacting?
Are people going crazy?
There's a lot of people in the spot.
X was going hard.
X was going crazy.
I mean, both of them.
It was like 1A and 1B.
But I gave, you know what I mean, me.
I gave Jay the nod.
But I'm just saying, if somebody said X, you wouldn't be mad.
I'm just saying it was that close.
You know what I'm saying?
And honestly.
You got to drink something.
What are you drinking?
Water?
No, no, no.
You gave me the only person.
Columbia White.
Champagne.
With a tag of bar.
With a tag of bar.
Oh! We got it! We got it! No, no, no. You can't hit a whole new person with champagne. With a tag of wine. With a tag of wine.
Oh!
We got it!
We got it!
We got a special house blend.
That's nice.
That's a mix.
That's a straight, straight blend.
Right there.
That's around the world?
Around the world, basically.
I gotta work out tomorrow.
I'll take your time.
All right.
All right.
That looks like a take your time.
Yeah, I'm not waiting till you say it.
I'm waiting till you say it.
This is what I want to get into.
This is what I want to get into.
Listen. time. All right. All right. This is what I want to get into. This is what I want to get into.

i've been in this game since 1997 all right and since 1997 i have never seen people have more fun
celebrate more life indulge in the culture more than Rockefeller Records
like you guys birth people you guys gave people life you guys gave people life. You guys gave people jobs.
A blueprint.
A blueprint.
You gave people the blueprint.
Like, everybody that's trying to be independent right now, they're basing it on you guys.
Yeah.
So what made you guys even want to be independent?
Like, I think that was just the mindset.
What happened?
They've got, Dame and Jay was trying to get a deal before that and kept getting turned down.
So that's what led them to want to do something you know I'm saying themselves so that you know they came to me it was like yo do you want to
you know put this together with us you know so you know it was an offer they
couldn't refuse and you know we put it together
I don't be rude you just try to be humble I remember something you gotta speak to the mic
I remember something that was very disrespectful we was drinking everyday Southern drinking every day, Southern Comfort, Mean Bates.
This is my drinking partner.
Southern Comfort?
Big time drinker.
One of the best we ever did.
They weren't one of the best.
He almost killed your man.
He almost killed Down Leezy.
We thought he was dead.
We get it today.
We got to relax.
We got to relax.
We got to relax.
We got to go back.
We're going too far.
They went to Live Records, and Steve Rifkin said,
Jay-Z's not our type of rapper.
Steve Rifkin? Yeah. BasedZ's not our type of rapper. Steve Rifkin?
Yeah.
Based on the most
they fucking mind,
they said,
we tired of this shit
and they went
and put their own paper up
and Steve Rifkin,
who's laughing now?
Before free?
Okay, so let me ask you
this.
Because I heard this story.
I heard the Zach story.
Listen,
yo, big face,
I heard the Zach story
you just said.
But were you involved
in that picture
when they brought it
to Steve Rifkin?
I went to Steve, but I think at that time, when we went to meet Steve, we were trying to hire him for promotions.
So what was the attitude to say fuck everybody?
We were trying to hire him, we were trying to hire Kev, Louse, you know what I'm saying?
So the attitude to say fuck everybody was because people didn't just gravitate to y'all?
Yeah, to them.
So they had those meetings prior.
And then they came to you.
And then I want you to describe,
because I don't want you to describe things that you...
Yeah, but I'm saying, at that time,
I was with them supporting the videos and everything.
So before that, obviously, we did St. Thomas, right?
So we went down there.
You know, Emery bought the island out of champagne.
So...
Describe that, bitch.
You can't just say that like that.
I mean, he bought it. Actually, what happened... You see what type of champagne we got right here bitch. You can't just say that like that. I mean, he bought...
Actually, what happened...
You see what type of champagne
we got right here?
Nobody got this in America.
But what happened was
he bought the whole island
out of Chris Allen and Don P.
So that's why we had Moet
in the video.
So we had the boats
and all that shit.
You know what I'm saying?
The whole island.
He's saying it's like a mammal.
I know you're saying it,
but he's crazy. I just said it. Like Don P and Chris, though. Did you hear what he said before?
They went to hire Steve Rifkin
and Kevin Lyles to hire them.
Okay, first of all,
in case people don't know,
if you're just tuning in,
Kevin Lyles is the president.
Steve Rifkin is the president. Steve Ritchie
is the president and you guys
wanted to hire him?
They gave me a paper bag and I was like,
yo, I can't take this.
We need some spins.
Describe
that mentality, right?
We know we're on the streets.
We don't get into what's happening
in the streets.
When they come to you,'re saying dame and jay already had this popping right they already had this going they had it so they came they had the name rockefeller tone hooker yeah
okay so they come to you and they say what he was like yo let's do this together because
you had the business mind?
At that time,
we was hanging together
probably every day
for like a year and a half.
Uh-huh.
So this is
in my lifetime
is already out.
I can't get with that.
This is probably right after
I can't get with that.
It's 94?
Yeah.
Right after I can't get with that.
I'm in jail.
Okay, continue.
I'm four years old.
You got to relax.
Yeah.
So by the time in my lifetime in my lifetime remix I can't get with that. I'm in jail, okay, continue. I'm four years old. You gotta relax. Yeah.
So by the time, in my lifetime,
in my lifetime remix.
In my lifetime.
Yeah.
Which is the one that most people heard.
Yeah, but the remix, you know,
we came back and did the video here for the remix.
It was right after that that we put it together.
And then the first, forgot the first song that we,
I don't even remember the first song we might have put out.
It was right after In My Lifetime remix though.
Now Biggs, I know you personally.
Like, to me, and all of my niggas, I'll close my eyes,
all of my niggas will say,
yo, Norby loves Biggs, right?
And this is, the thing is,
you've never been industry-loss.
Like, you've never been like,
you made all the money in the world,
and you were still as hood as ever.
Loved it.
How the fuck do you do that?
Like, how do you make all the money in the world?
Like, I remember one time I came to your crib
and you was hitting me on,
I didn't even see you.
You was just buzzering me in.
Yo, Nori,
you good?
There's weed downstairs.
Like, that's not rich.
I'm like, yo, bitch, I'm good.
You know, the bathroom's open.
You know, he talked to me
through a loudspeaker.
It's God talking to you.
You got some tissue
about to cry.
Don't cry.
Don't cry yet, because I got some shit. I got some shit. Are cry. Don't cry. Don't cry yet.
I got some shit.
I got some shit.
You said some shit that's real.
No, no, no.
How did you never, like, I mean, I'm going to be honest with you.
Not only that, you know, you invited me to my, like, my second date I ever had with my wife was at your house.
Wow.
That's crazy.
I remember.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Do you remember? I came through. I remember when she came. Yeah, I remember.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You remember?
I came through.
I was like, Biggie, you don't like nothing?
He was like, no, your girl is the only one that's cute.
I was like, damn, man.
I was like, damn, man.
I thought the other bitches was bad.
Big shut me down.
He was like, no, no, only your girl.
I'm good.
Can't let me eat cookies.
But, I swear to God, I swear to God, I swear to God, I used to come to Biggie's house
almost every day.
Keep it real.
No, there's no way I would ever go to Biggie's house.
I swear to God.
I swear to God.
I swear to God.
I swear to God. I swear to God. I swear to God. I, swear to God, swear to God, swear to God.
I used to come to Big's house almost every day.
Keep it real.
No,
there's no pictures,
there was none of that.
But how do you maintain
your sanity?
Like,
especially,
like,
not now,
I'm talking about back then,
yo was getting so much money,
it was so ridiculous.
I remember one time,
y'all just told me to come to
Amsterdam for no reason.
We didn't brought heroin.
We was out there.
We was wilding out there.
You gotta relax.
I'm sorry.
Let me get my good times.
I'm sorry.
We gonna get into it.
I'm sorry.
Let's just maintain your it. Your G, G, G, we're going to get into it. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. But let's just maintain your sanity.
I think it's...
Your sanity.
For us...
Biggs, I've never seen you go crazy.
Coming into the game doing well.
So it wasn't much that changed.
You know what I'm saying?
So obviously it was checks instead, right?
So, you know what I mean?
The way you got money changed.
But it wasn't that much of a change where, you know what I mean, you really had to change who you are. You know what I mean? The way you got money changed. But it wasn't that much of a change where, you know what I mean, you really had to change who you are.
You know what I mean?
Now, big face Gary.
Oh, man.
How you doing, sir?
I'm just living, man.
I'm good, man.
What are you drinking?
Ciroc?
Ciroc and salsa water.
Yo, let's talk about that Puff Daddy story.
Puff Daddy told you he don't drink with the help?
Yeah, he disrespected me big time.
Oh, what happened?
What happened?
It was me, Biggs,
Dane, went to LA
with all of us.
I ain't know nothing
about the music.
I just came out of jail.
Biggs and them was like,
I was making $250 a week
delivering food to a shelter.
I was hanging with Dane.
Not UBS.
No, shelter.
I was working for,
I was hanging with Dane
for six a month.
Dane went for a bath one day.
They said,
what do you make a week?
I said, $250.
They said, okay,
fuck them niggas.
I'm going to pay you $30,000 a year just to hang with us.
You learn the business, you're going to get a lot more money.
Man, I said, fuck them niggas.
So I hung with them niggas every day.
All I did was drink and snap.
Okay, so now I want you to tell me, because I listen, you know.
I listen.
It's the real?
Yeah, it's the real.
I'm so bad, man.
Those are my boys.
I listen to it because I had missed you.
And, you know, I love y'all niggas.
Like, Rockefeller, y'all was my extended family.
So what was your first memory of Jay-Z?
Come on, you can mix it.
You can get like orange juice or something.
I think I'm orange juice here.
I feel like you're going to go down.
Well, the first memory of Rockefeller is, like I said. It's not Armadale. I don't know. I'm good. I'm on just here. Yeah, I feel like you're going down. Well, the first, my memory of Rockefeller is, like I said.
It's not Armadale.
I know what I'm doing.
I'm good.
I'm okay.
Mean Biggs every day.
Like I said, Biggs was ridiculous.
We just drank every day.
Called me at 12 o'clock.
We drank from 12 in the afternoon to literally the next morning.
I don't know how we didn't stop.
Damn music.
Biggs ain't talking about music.
We're pushing this Range Rover.
No gas.
Biggs ran that gas on the regular.'re pushing this Range Rover, no gas. Biggs ran that gas on the regular.
We push this Range Rover, he's laughing.
I don't see that shit crazy, right?
But Mike Boop ain't laughing.
You know why?
I bought a brand new Benz, and my shit cut out on me.
So things.
So Mike, these niggas ain't even gonna laugh.
These niggas like, I understand.
So my biggest memory of Jay was?
Give me something to ruin it.
My biggest memory of Jay?
My biggest memory of Jay? Honestly, two. I got two. I'm going to give you two. One of the ones was one night, Woodall was there. My biggest memory of Jay was my biggest memory of Jay
honestly two.
I got two.
I'm going to give you two.
One of the ones was
one night we were all drunk.
Biggs ain't full out of drive.
No one felt out.
So I played up and lied
and said I got to do something.
Jay parked a high drink.
His GS300.
His shit got towed.
So he didn't know.
So I got caught
and I had to drive Jay home.
Biggs laughed.
I drove him home.
So I said, Jay, you hype.
You hype.
He said, put anything on.
Yo, Nori, I drove him from my block to State Street in Brooklyn.
That motherfucker hit me with so much rhyme.
See how big my face was?
It was skinny like his, man.
He killed that.
When he was saying shit that made no sense. I killed that. When you see what's saying shit,
that make no sense.
I said,
what the fuck you're just saying?
And this is Jay-Z.
Jay-Z, no deal, no nothing.
I'm not talking about what he had on him.
It's over.
He was Jay-Z.
He had MPV with BBS.
I thought I had a Maserati.
Biggs had a bunch of,
sorry, I'm not pulling out there.
Biggs had Range Rovers,
Legends, hoopties to him.
And you in what kind of car?
MPV with BBS rims, breast and baseball.
No, no, listen, this is, time out, time out.
In case anybody want to judge this man.
Four wheel drive.
MPV was that shit at the time.
MPV was like a Suburban.
Thank you, Norrie, thank you.
You was good.
I was doing okay, boy.
Now they come, I was in this, I'm not gonna Thank you. You was good. I was doing okay, bro.
I did my time.
I was in the streets back then.
No one did a level with my brothers, but I did okay for myself.
But anyway, so I drove Jay home.
He was saying shit.
I called Biggs the next day.
I said, yo, Jay, this nigga can run.
You said Jay or you said Biggs?
I said Biggs.
That's when Biggs was down.
He's infested.
He's down.
Biggs is in the group. I said, Biggs, this motherfucker isgs. That's when Biggs is down. He's infested. He's down. Biggs is in the group.
I said Biggs.
This motherfucker is ridiculous.
I told you, Gary.
I told you.
Because let me just tell you something about Biggs.
It's so hard to get Biggs to get him down with something.
No, he's so laid back, Gary.
That's the stuff.
But once you get him down.
He's with you all the way.
He don't stop.
That's what I knew.
Listen.
Biggs always say, I never signed a contract.
Yeah, definitely.
Hold on, hold on.
Everybody pay attention.
Please, everybody listen.
They were so rich, I was begging them to sign a contract.
I was like, give me a contract.
Them niggas was like, we'll send it to you Thursday.
I'm like, I'm blacking them out here. Let me sign the contract. We'll send it to you Thursday. I'm like, I'm flattening him out here.
Let me sign the contract.
We'll send it to you Monday.
That's how I blend.
But let me just tell you something, Vicks.
I remember, and I tell my people this all the time.
You had an African driver.
Forget his name.
I2.
I2, I just saw him the other day.
I2, my nigga.
And every two weeks, just out of the blue, I2 would just show up in my house.
And I'd be like, yo.
I'd come outside, and then Biggs would call me.
He'd be like, I can smell it from here.
I'd be like, yo, Biggs, what are you talking about?
Like, you're smoking haze.
Nigga hated me smoking haze.
And this is
Haze is lit at the time
He's like
Motherfucker look at
Outside
This guy was just
With a cookie jar
Full of weed
And be like
Big Sydney for you
And I was like
Yo the thing about Biggs
Was
Cause when I say
Biggs is the best CEO
And I start with that story.
Sometimes people think I'm basing it off because you gave me weed or you gave me.
The thing about it was, I would come up to you with logical shit, and you always approved every budget.
I just had to come up with something logical.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Do you think the black CEO is not existing no more because of that?
I don't know.
I don't think that a lot of other CEOs today believe in an artist the way we did.
Because with us, it was more relationship.
It wasn't just about the business.
We cared about what was going on in every artist's personal life.
If you was going through something, if you was going through something with your kid,
if you got in a problem on your block, we had to move people, send them out of town.
We was more invested than just from the business standpoint.
Yeah, that was official.
Yeah?
No, they was there for that.
What?
You got to talk to the mic.
He made a good point. I remember when I was the mic. Oh, he made a good point.
I remember when I was working for Rockford,
Dames would pick on me.
I was a mama's boy.
I didn't want to leave my mama.
Dames, where you live at, man?
I'm back and forth.
I got a couple women.
I'm living life.
Man, you see, with your mama,
you bum ass nigga.
You live with your mama.
I'm back and forth.
I'm not going to say what he did.
If my Dames got his ways,
I will say this, Dames.
He cut me a check to get your own crib, nigga. I remember not going to say what he did. If my Dane got his ways, I will say this, Dane. He cut me a check
to get you on crib, nigga.
I remember one day,
me and Dane,
we was in Dane crib
and we got in your car.
We both got a rash.
You're heating me up.
That's my caddy.
You're heating me up a little bit.
You know what, doggy?
That's all right, doggy.
You're my dad.
I can take a break.
You're my boy.
No, no, no.
Say something.
I can take a break.
Dane got in the seat.
I'm getting a rash.
You know what?
He didn't get out though.
Y'all didn't get out.
I got you what y'all got.
Y'all rich.
Y'all didn't say something about me.
I did okay for myself.
Y'all love was another level of me.
I'm just happy that we friends.
You know, we good.
But Biggs, man, let me tell you again.
I got another story, right?
You got a story? We in the studio.
Tone Hooker, who named Rockefeller.
Drunk as a skunk.
We did Can I Live?
He had a verse.
Can I Live?
Can we get the verse right?
Oh, Tone Hooker had a verse?
That's my favorite record
of all time.
That's him on the hook.
That's my favorite record
of all time.
He had a verse?
Yeah.
What happened?
He was drunk as a skunk.
Jay don't write.
Big said,
you pissing me off.
You embarrassing me.
Write something, Jay.
Jay wrote some shit.
Russian shit. I don't know what it is. Russian. You embarrassing me. Jay, write something, Jay. Jay wrote some shit. Russian shit.
I don't know what it is.
Russian.
Biggs, no.
This is my verse.
Rush, Can I Live?
Tonehook was drunk.
I'm saying Jay wrote, because you say.
No, Can I Live was Jay's record, but we gave Tonehook a verse.
But Tonehook was filthy drunk.
And Dane couldn't take it no more.
So he said, Jay, you got to write the verse.
I can't take this shit no more.
Jay wrote some shit that looked like Russian.
You know Jay don't write.
Right.
We don't lease our cars. We buy them as you
should. My confederate debt explodes
on the set of Nation.
Am I lying, Biggs? He wrote that verse.
I was like, oh my God. Tone Hooker's
verse. Tone was so drunk, he could
have taken them all. That's when Jay wrote that verse,
man. And he was rushed. We don't lease.
He did it in six minutes.
Actually, that was my line. We don't lease.
We buy our cars
I'm gonna say this hate that because me babies got a personal friendship
He's a little cocky, but he's right a lot of shit was written was through bigs life, man
I'm not gonna name it. This is real
business my cars You saying it was Biggs money that started Rockefeller from the beginning? No, everybody know that. You gotta know that.
I'm drinking bottles of champagne. Our fans didn't know that.
I'm in country clubs drinking bottles of champagne.
Yo, I'm drinking bottles of champagne as big as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
I'm walking into the club. Biggs said, Bigg Fave, we good here.
Buckets. Listen, I'm not making this up.
Bottles this high, I'm gonna make them chips.
Yeah, they don't make them no more.
Biggs is sitting there.
This one, Biggs had, it's like handcuff bracelets.
It was like handcuffs right there.
Handcuffs. Oh, shit.
Deep.
Oh, shit.
That's all, man.
So we laying low.
We talking, shit, drinking, laughing.
Literally, I'm like, yo, Biggs, what the fuck?
Biggs said, Biggs said, you ain't got to worry about nothing.
We good.
The mic.
Oh, sorry, I'm sorry. We ain't You know worried about nothing. We good the mic. Oh, sorry
I'm sorry. Yeah, we got worried about nothing. We gonna live yo
The big big country club big bottles of champagne all type of shit
It was just ridiculous, but my still like I said that memory when Jay wrote that's dead gibberish
God know what this shit was but that was Tony Hooker's verse man
That's my favorite Javis did at all time. Can I live I love that record
So now, look.
You guys are both Harlem.
You meet this guy from Brooklyn, right?
Now you're a believer, right?
Yeah.
Now you're a believer.
You're one of the foot soldiers.
No disrespect.
It's not disrespect.
It's okay to be a foot soldier.
Foot soldiers eat too.
Right.
So what makes y'all say
let's go full fleshfledged on this whole project
What was it was it was it a single record or was it just now?
I don't think I don't even think we had that many because traditionally I apologize for cutting you off
Traditionally back then if you from Queens you stay with Queens people from Brooklyn you stay with Brooklyn
We will pass that array mama at this time. We were already
friends for two years.
You and Jay?
Yeah.
Okay, continue.
Yeah, so when they said to do it,
this is after in my lifetime and the remix.
So at this time, I'm a believer.
Right.
You know what I'm saying?
So when we put it together,
we put the Reasonable Doubt album together. I'm not sure.
I think maybe Coming to Age.
Coming to Age is the oldest song on the album.
Oh, that was crazy.
Because they did that with Clark prior.
All the old Clark songs.
What's the other shit?
In My Lifetime.
22 Twos.
I mean, obviously,
because he used to perform that all the time.
That's my shit right there.
And Cashmere Thoughts.
Shout out to Elvis.
Those are the three oldest songs.
That was random.
They know who that is.
Oh, I thought you meant Elvis Presley.
No.
It was our driver.
It was our driver in Atlanta.
We put Rockfall into place in a white limo,
and we destroyed Jack the Rapper the whole weekend shout out to Kenny Burns any bro we dominated that
we can mmm Dominic reject the rapper what big talk about it there's nobody in
this park has ever told my name is called the meeting day in your chair up
I'm sorry yeah yeah yeah move on this, move up. You want to smoke some weed? No, I don't smoke weed, brother. I'll drink all day with you.
I'll drink some more.
I'm going to keep drinking all day.
You know that's what I do.
You know we in motherfuckers.
Slime.
Slime.

Slime, you must slime up here, man.
This big figgety gallery.

is the latest show from the
Meat Eater Podcast Network,
hosted by me, writer and historian
Dan Flores, and brought to you
by Velvet Buck.
This podcast looks at a West
available nowhere else.
Each episode, I'll be diving
into some of the lesser-known histories
of the West. I'll then be joined in conversation by guests such as Western historian Dr. Randall
Williams and best-selling author and MeatEater founder Stephen Ranella. I'll correct my kids
now and then where they'll say when cave people were here. And I'll say, it seems like the Ice
Age people that were here didn't have a real affinity for caves.
So join me starting Tuesday, May 6th, where we'll delve into stories of the West and come to understand how it helps inform the ways in which we experience the region today.

I know a lot of cops, and they get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your gun?
Sometimes the answer is yes, but there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer
will always be no. Across the country, cops called this taser the revolution.
But not everyone was convinced it was that simple.
Cops believed everything that taser told them.

They said, we go to Atlanta, we get in jackets, and we get in rooms.
We're going to chip in, and we're going to play hard.
A freak neck.
We all put in, if it was Mr. Sudden, Biggs done put the rest up.
We all had jackets, we all looked fresh, we brought Biggs in the limo, we put Rockefeller.
Did you have the Rockefeller buggy at that time?
We had the Rockefeller plates on the limo.
Damn.
No buggy.
Nah.
We went to some part, Biggs other party jay was real you know
jay rom how he talk man we went to a party and pants don't mind jay flipped the table over
my money baby i don't know you told me maybe they flipped the table over yo jay started rapping
and i was like yo the people was like who is this motherfucker but this shit was so hot people's
like oh what the fuck you know you do the soul train line We all harlan we dancer you know it took jane nine minutes to go through that line
He rapped like he's reaching he like this
That's how you do he's a so quiet and smooth went to jack the rapper we had a ball man
And that's when I said,
Big, this shit really gonna happen, man.
Okay, so let me ask y'all both, right?
Because both of y'all describing,
you know, both of y'all own experiences,
which is so awesome, right?
But when individually did you really know Jay was special?
Because the thing about it is,
I don't give a fuck.
This is my nephew right here.
I think he's special.
Maybe I think he's special because he's my nephew.
Maybe I think he's special because he's special. I don't give a fuck. This is my nephew right here. I think he's special. Maybe I think he's special because he's my nephew. Maybe I think he's special because he's special. I don't know. But I will have to find out years down the line.
Right. So when was the moment for you guys? I told you the battle was for me.
The battle with DMX. Yeah. Now, D, you was there?
Which one? There was only one battle in the Bronx. yeah, yeah, yeah. Come over here, D.
Come over here.
Come on, come on.
Get D a chair.
Ali, where you at?
Ali, pool table.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You got a problem, bro?
Got your chair.
Right here.
This done turned into some real good things.
Okay.
Yeah.
D from motherfucking Rough Riders is here.
We already know.
I'm sorry, Biggs.
You got to share the mic. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm over here, man. Riders is here. I don't really know. I'm sorry, Biggs. You got to share the mic.
I'm sorry.
Oh, here you go.
Oh, here you go.
This is real.
Baby, you good.
So describe this battle.
Because we heard from Dane.
We heard from Irv.
But Irv said he wasn't there.
Correct?
We heard from Lior.
No, Lior said he wasn't there.
Lior wasn't there. But we heard from pretty much... There's a he wasn't there Lior wasn't there Lior wasn't there
but we heard from
pretty much
there was a couple people
that talked about this
a couple people that talked about this battle
so
I would love
to hear
D from Rough Riders
describe
this moment
it was
it was in the Bronx
if I remember
it was
it was in the pool
in the Bronx
it was
yeah like off Webster like 170 in one of them blocks Bronx about a number it was it was it was it was in a pool in the Bronx was it
um yeah that off Webster like one so many you guys cool or you guys between
West and Washington I yeah I was good with everybody we good so what happened
how did they put these two like I said we didn't know D and Y but say we knew
Steve Mack and Steve Mack was their man. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Mack from my building, one of my buildings on Broadway in Harlem, so I knew Mack.
It wasn't even a battle for X.
Yeah.
It was a battle for, I think it was Harlem Nights.
Yeah, he said that.
And somebody else, right?
Original Flavor.
Original Flavor.
So it wasn't even supposed to be a whole bit of X.
Yeah, okay. They just happened to be there.
So they was battling, and then X was over here, and I guess Hov was over there.
And they was battling, and the two other people was battling.
I don't know who they was battling, but I don't know.
Mack and them had some people battling.
Yeah.
So they was there, and it wasn't really doing much.
And then I guess X got on the table, or Hov got on the table,
and then we put them both on the table table and then they started battling from there.
Okay, that's what happened.
X got on the table first.
Yeah, yeah.
So D, who won that battle in your opinion?
That battle, you really can't say nobody won because they both was good.
So I gave it like that.
Everybody.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
When you hear it on both sides, people are like, it was a tough battle.
I mean, you know what I mean?
Everybody kind of giving it up.
Ain't nobody like, yo, this was the clear, this and that.
But if anybody on that side say DMX1, you ain't mad.
If anybody on this side saying J1, you ain't mad.
It was that close.
It was tight.
It was a battle where you had to give it up for both sides.
Plus, it was an experience for X as well as Hov
because they both had different styles and energies,
so they learned off each other.
So that's what made it.
The whole world in this way and X-Round that way,
it was like, oh, shit, he learned something from X.
Hov probably learned something from him,
and they both had two unique styles,
and nobody really won.
It was just like a draw.
Well, we just had Irv Gotti on, right?
And it came out tonight.
What's tonight's date?
Thursday.
The second.
The second.
The second.
November 2nd.
November 2nd.
You want to stand?
Irv Gotti on.
I need to be on? No, and Irv said this is the only battle where DMX felt like he won, but he felt like the people chose Jay.
Do you think Irv is correct in that statement?
I don't think nobody chose anybody.
It wasn't even like that.
It was just like...
And Irv also said that Jay rhymed
and he left after that.
And that's what made DMX mad
at him. That's what Irv said, right?
I'm correct? This is not my word.
I don't really know
who stayed or left, but we was there.
It was actually somebody got on
at the end. Some dude that was real nice.
I don't know if you remember. Some guy from the crowd or whatever, he jumped on the table, super nice,
and he just like kicked the verse, and then that was it.
Everybody was going crazy.
Nobody ever remembers him.
He got on the mic.
He remembers him.
But he was nice.
The funny thing is, every time DMX got on, everybody went crazy.
Every time Jay got on, everybody went crazy. Every time Jay got on, everybody went crazy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Wait, but does at any point in this type of battle, is it aggressive?
It's just lyrics.
It's just rhyming.
Yeah, it's just rhyming.
Or the crews ever getting aggressive?
I mean, I think somebody pulled out a gun one time, but it was a part of the verse.
It was aggressive.
No, it was a part of the verse.
So he said something and they pulled his gun.
His gun's just going to come out.
Okay, OK.
So now you brothers have this battle, right?
With the Romo, without the Romo.
You brothers had this battle, right?
Now years later, right, you guys are both on Def Jam.
You guys are both platinum artists. And then you guys do this tour what was the name of the talk
was it the hard on life time yeah and it was DMX on there as well yeah and then DMX and the big
hole was sharing the clothes and I'm not sure you correct me if I'm wrong and then it was like
ready math in the beginning yeah and then it was like Red and Math from the beginning.
And then it was like Memphis Bleak.
And then it's the famous shit where Def Jam bought somebody a jacket.
What jacket they bought?
Kev Louse.
Memphis Bleak.
Bleak didn't answer my calls or something.
Dropped the Urgati drop.
I'm so sorry.
It was Urg. I sorry. It was Erg.
It wasn't me.
Let me just keep it going.
But you guys have this tour.
This was the first hip-hop tour.
No violence, correct?
Yeah.
Sold out shows. I only went to one show, to tell you the truth.
Yeah, I don't know where you guys been. Been a little shit. Yeah. I was on the block, man.
I was on the block with one of them. I need I need you to describe that tour because that's all
single-handedly
Was the tour that helped set hip-hop back? Was it the hard nut life tour?
No, it wasn't
I think it was
stop me if I'm wrong deep or big it bigs. It was J, DMX, and then Meth and Red prior to that.
Yeah.
Isn't that the Hard Knock Life?
Yeah.
It's Hard Knock Life?
Yeah.
It's Hard Knock Life?
I'm Googling it.
I'm Googling it right now.
How's Googling it?
So, how's you not Googling?
Yeah. It's Hard Knock Life. So, D, Google it so yeah how was that because y'all actually heard we also had her I'm
sorry her give us so much yeah so herb said Lee all played all three of the
crews meaning he played Murder, Inc.,
he made Murder, Inc. happy for one point,
then he came and married Rockefeller happy,
and then he came and made Rough Riders happy.
And then he said, this is Irv's exact words,
we can actually, he said,
he played us like a fiddle.
Playing y'all against each other.
Do y'all think Leo did that to y'all?
I don't, nah, Leo definitely didn't make us
feel any way against anybody else.
I mean, you know, Dane would've handled that.
How about you?
Nah, we was good, we always good.
We don't look at shit like that.
So we shittin' on the Earth right now.
Earth.
No, no, Earth for me is, Earth, Earth for me is.
That might have been with Earth. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. The problem and me are... Irv family... That might have been with Irv.
No, no, no.
A problem for me is definitely not a problem for me.
Different type of problem.
Yeah.
So, just in case y'all didn't see Irv got an interview this morning, Thursday.
It's on right now.
It's on right now.
What are you talking about?
We don't know when we're putting this out.
But 10 p.m.
It came out already.
In case you didn't see it, it came out already.
In case you didn't see it...
Go to DreamChamps.com. DreamCh p.m. In case you didn't see it, it came out already.
In case you didn't see it.
Go to DreamChamps.com.
Go to DreamChamps.com.
Now, Big Face Gary.
What's up, son?
Now, Big Face Gary.
My brother.
You were the number one soldier of Rockefeller.
Yeah, I love them boys.
I love them.
That's what's up.
They changed my life around.
You still love them, boy.
I love them.
Do I?
Yeah.
I have different, like, I like I love what was your most
difficult part of working for rockin name mood swings man he was going through
personal shit I know what it was and be honest he's a snap I used to hang out
rest in peace big big what's he got in your car he got a rash no no I remember
that but you know whatever that well I was a big big brother was my man I look like he put me in a hollow tunnel I know God bless
I spewed that he should never talk to me crazy so I started working for him he
named me Luca Brasi which is a good thing because that means everything
actually I got done but then I don't know Dan's personal issues I will never
know they started getting real nasty for no reason
But now that I'm 47 since I 10 years 12 years later
I know what it was it was personal things he was going through but I say this on this mic
I loved you dame you put me on bigs put me on
Dame you put me on bigs put me on if you just told me just going through you know, not a day. Oh
Jay I'm talking about Jay. That's my name. I love Jay. Come on if you just told me just going through you know how to J out oh Jay in a minute
he's no one knows the story but we put big Scott Mille and I love that but one
point is I love Damon and Biggs so much
but I love Biggs because Biggs' brother was
my man and Biggs put me on to the A&R
game, talking about A&R projects.
Then Dame put me
to the game. But the problem with Dame,
my opinion was, he was going through a lot
personally because I know he's a kahuna.
Everything's on him. So I'm like,
I love Dame so much. You're pulling me to the side.
I'm going through something. Just don't yell at me and curse me out cuz you frustrated I
don't care if you do but tell me cause I'll take that shit but if you don't
know that's coming as a man you feel like you can be little yo G I'm fucked
up I'm going through something this is driving me crazy I but nigga let it all
out on me cuz I'm with you niggas you put me on my life change around fucking
with you I was getting meetings getting three four grand fucking with Dame and
Just 20 minutes. I got four grand in my pocket. You're getting way too deep. Let's wait for that now stop
The point I was trying to make was that that was like crazy for me because they changed my life around.
Bumby,
I have two rapper friends in my life
who's always been my friend.
Norby said,
Gary, I don't give a fuck about rap
when it comes to you.
You're my friend.
And Bumby said the same thing.
Norby said,
Gary, there's more to Rockefeller.
Remember you embarrassed me and said that?
No, let me tell you something.
One day,
one day,
he killed me with that shit.
One day, the nigga came to my studio, he couldn't have a conversation if Rockefeller wasn't
involved.
I was like, you know the Yankees in the World Series, he was like, yeah, we trying to perform
here next week.
Yo, you know the Knicks is kicking ass.
Yeah, Jay Wynn and the Yankees, right?
Yeah, yeah. Yo, I had to niggas kicking ass. The big story now, don't say nothing now, I'm gonna say, yo, so you relax. Ah!
Yo, heat me up and give me a story. I'm unbalanced.
I won't win the battle, but with speed,
that's when Nas came off getting over there.
It was jokes, Nas.
Jay, shit was real.
Jay put up a million dollars and said,
you put up a verse, I put up a verse.
Whoever wins gets a million dollars.
Nas said he can't afford it.
Went to Speed that night.
Jake literally said yo, Big Face, he did a show for free.
I think Big's remember this.
You know what it is? He did a show for free.
He did a show for free.
He said Big Face, I want you to come with me.
Because we was all there, everybody.
Don't let nobody take my hat.
I heard you say this story.
Slop, I did that.
He was taking Jay's hat?
Yeah, all the time. Every show we did. It didn't matter.
He said, I'm going to take my hat.
We did the show in speed.
It was for free.
He said, yo, big face.
He texted me.
We had two ways.
I'm silver shit.
Yo, good for the game.
The game needs you.
I'll never forget that text, man.
But they was taking his hat?
He told me, I'm a regular.
Jay's an icon, man.
That's what happens, man, he's a superstar.
He's still in his 50s.
He's still in my towels.
So Slav, my thing is what I'm saying is, you said all I knew was Rockefeller.
I go from making $250, I was in jail, came home from doing $250 a week,
to making $30 grand to get to hang out with them and joke and get snapped on,
and we snapped back, to making $70 grand a week, so if they look at bigs I get three grand if they
say hello to Dame I get five grand why would I love them no I nobody never said
the alone I just knew that you didn't know a life outside of it that's only
that was amazing that was a crook broke was sad. So how bad was it when Rockefeller closed?
I walked in one day.
People were crying.
I ain't name no names.
People were crying.
I said, what the fuck you're crying for?
I gave him a mind.
I was like, what are those people?
Dame said, it's over.
Maybe not the last time.
Relax.
Well, you asked me a question.
What the fuck do you mean?
No, no, relax.
So you walk into office.
Literally walk into office. Literally. Literally walk into the office, literally.
You come into work.
Regular work, I'm ready to work, get my money, do what I do.
And then what?
People crying.
You walk in and see people crying?
Rest in peace Colin.
That's James' uncle, he died.
God bless him.
God bless him.
I said, Colin, why are you crying?
The labor's over, Gary.
Ain't nothing left.
Ain't nothing left.
What did you say? I was, I thought it crime. The label's over, Gary. Ain't nothing left. Ain't nothing left. What did you say?
I was a joker first.
I said, ain't nothing left.
It's over, Gary.
Do you even know where I'm going to corporate shit?
My niggas got hundreds of millions.
I'm looking for motherfucking sevens.
I'm sorry, baby.
You talking about DDMG, not Rockefeller.
Yeah, that's what I just said. I just said that. Didn't I just say that? I just said, dang that musical, baby. You talking about DDMG, not Rockefeller. Yeah, that's what I just said.
I just said that.
Didn't I just say that?
That was the last thing.
I just said Dame Dash Music Group,
but I just said that.
Yeah, I remember I walked into the office
and I see Vic Figg.
I said Dame Dash Music Group.
I said that, baby.
You didn't hear me.
And I said, there's none here.
And then I was like, wow, people are crying.
And I was mean.
Dame started arguing.
Dame wanted to fight.
I wanted to fight.
And it was so funny.
Beans was there that day. Beans took me to Philly for a week because I wanted to fight. I wanted to fight. And it was so funny, Beans was there that day.
Beans took me to Philly for a week.
Because I wanted to fight. I was so pissed.
I'm going to go back to Beans.
I also came to your house.
I came to Beanie Segal's house.
And he sicked an alligator on you.
That's right.
I was trying to get that fucking verse.
And Norris said,
You don't want to do it? Fuck him, G. Beans had me trying to get a Beanie Segal verse. I was like in the fucking verse and no says even one nor says you were the fucking
We gotta go to this I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. I'm good. I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good.
I'm good. I'm good. I'ma get the verse tonight. I'm like, come on. Like, that thing is, I feel like you got something personal.
But that's how much I love Rockefeller.
I would do anything for that.
No, no, we're going to end it like that.
I got you.
I got you.
I love that.
I love that.
I love that.
I've never seen Lori T. And I've never seen Lori T. like big.
The thing about it was, I never, this is crazy, like when Shaheen Reid, let's big up Shaheen
Reid, big up Ramon Dukes, big up Evolt TV, they hit me and they was like, yo, you know
what?
I think Biggs want to do it tonight.
And I'm like, all right, cool.
And the reason why I hit you as well, and D from Rough Riders. It's because...
Oh, nature's a motherfucking building.
Goddamn, and he got an 89 shirt on.
He got shampoo as well.
But at the end of the day,
when I look at Big Face Gary,
I look at D from Rough Riders,
and I look at motherfucking Bigs,
I look at probably the most loyal people in the industry.
That's real.
And when I say that, I say that with the utmost sincerity
because it was at one point where if I could have came to you and said,
this artist is doing such and
such D would have looked at me and said winning I would have came to the bigs and
bigs would have been like we winning I couldn't even came to you this nigga
couldn't he couldn't see any. His vision was rock aware.
Let me say one more thing about him.
I don't think he's going to remember any of this.
But, you know, I did the streets for all y'all in Miami.
I did the Def Jam.
I did Rockefeller.
Actually, I got a little confused when we had Jim Jones on the pod.
And I said your name.
And I said Ant Live.
And I got a little confused.
But I remember now, now you talking right now.
I remember the conference calls when you would jump on.
And it was just pure passion.
He was just so into
what he was talking about.
It's just I'm hearing it
all over again right now.
The passion was there.
It's always been there.
Nah, man.
You got to understand, man.
When you come,
I'm not going to come for nothing.
I had a good parents.
I did well for myself.
And you're from Haiti.
I'm from Haiti.
I'm from Haiti.
Sorry about that. I'm from Haiti, man. What up myself. And you're from Haiti. I'm Haitian big time.
Oh, side by side.
Side by side, man. I'm big, man. What up, man?
Keep walking.
Sunny DBT.
Keep walking. What up, man?
What I'm saying is that I'm coming from the streets. I did some time in jail. I came home.
Can you not say that again?
My friends were up crazy.
That's 20 times.
I said it twice, bitch.
That's big on them, bitch.
That's like 40 times.
That's it, man. That's it. I don't even talk. I hate that shit, man.
Alright, well, you got that.
Bitch, I don't want you to eat me up.
I know, bitch.
Nah, I'm waiting for y'all to eat up.
I'm waiting for y'all to eat up.
Nah, I ain't talking about the bids.
Big face.
I know there's no time for that.
Anyway, I don't need to talk about that.
All I'm saying is that
Roger Fuller was kind of crazy,
like I said,
because that's all I knew.
I'm going to interject for you one second.
Okay, brother.
I'm going to say one thing.
I was in this game.
I was getting money, but I did
not know how to have fun. Meaning, I knew how to get the money. I knew how to spend
it. I just didn't know how to have fun. And it was Biggs.
Now, you knew how to have fun.
You got to relax. Let me finish my shit. I'm like, I'm not even trying to be funny. Biggs just look at me and be like, because he knew we was having fun because we was drinking,
but I didn't know how to display it.
Like I didn't know how to be like,
to show the world.
If it was Instagram back then, I would have been finished.
Because my gram would have been trash.
I would have been like,
I'm not even trying to be funny.
I'm just trying to be funny.
I'm just trying to be funny.
I'm just trying to be funny. I'm know how to be like like to show the world like it was Instagram back then I would be finished yeah cuz my gram would have been trapped
this is real shit I gotta give it to Biggs and Dane but I gotta be and they
honestly they came to me and was like yo nigga you making money have fun yeah Yeah, they were the first
But yeah was the first two people that like you came to me and and enforce that to me I was like yo
Nigga you getting money
smile and Nigga, you're getting money. Smile. And have fun. And do what you got to do.
So, and I wouldn't really,
y'all artists at that time,
this is, like I was in all y'all movies.
What made y'all?
What you said at that time.
Huh?
You never signed a deal.
Yeah.
We're going to get to that.
We're going to get to that, big.
What I'm saying is,
what I'm saying is, bigs, y'all would tell other artists from other places how to move and how to do that.
There wasn't, other than D, there wasn't no other people that was doing that.
Why did you even insinuate that?
I mean, that's just how we was.
We didn't hit on nobody's movement.
And whatever we did, we tried to bust down the door
to make sure that somebody else be able to walk through.
So, you know what I mean?
We flying around, we showed, right?
I showed everybody around the world.
I think it was you saying you couldn't go to London or something, right?
No, I couldn't go to London.
Y'all got me a pass. I don't know about that.
I respect that.
I said thank you.
So you were really it in London.
You forget a lot of shit.
We'll have a look. Go, tell us.
The food was so terrible.
We ate chicken.
Remember there was no more chicken left in the hotel?
We ate...
Yeah, bro, none of that shit.
You're saying the story way too hard.
Well, you know what?
I'm doing it for our sake.
Say the story.
Say the story.
I don't care how you want to say it.
I'm going to say it the way I know how to say it.
I'm being Gary.
Okay, great.
I know the food in London was horrible,
and we ate chicken every day,
and we were starving one day,
and we said, where?
We wanted some chicken.
They said, there's no more chicken.
Yo, ate.
Yo, brought everything out.
There's no more chicken in the hotel.
Now, tell your swine.
Okay, big faces, my nigga.
This is not how it happened.
I can't believe what you...
I had a great memory.
I've seen you before.
We kept going to Dame and Big's crib.
Relax.
All right, God, I'm chilling.
I'm relaxed.
We kept going there, getting drunk with them.
In London, you're talking about.
And then we kept going back to the hotel.
And every time we'd go back to the hotel,
it was me, you, Beans, Freeway, Midfleet,
and we ate out all the chicken in the hotel that's what
happened I was mr. park goddamn you got my bus she was what your slime full but
we were drunk I was never starving on it is how yeah
swimming pool in the room we had a swim and. That sounds ridiculous. Yo, we had ridiculous. Very disrespectful. Yeah, very disrespectful.
In Cren London with a pool?
It was ridiculous.
It was ridiculous.
Things play hard.
They had a swim instructor.
Yeah.
You want to have a swim?
Yeah, this is crazy.
This is crazy.
I've never seen that.
Like, I'm from Laffrack.
We got a pool.
Nah, they play hard.
They play hard, man.
There's no instructor.
Big son play hard.
There's no body to go like that.
Are you serious about the instructor?
I think they had a nigga that you jump in this way
Had a chef to say you eat this way
That's the
Bougie knows right there you ain't no booze. That was the rich side. Then you got back to old so they got to what we know
No, that's not what we was getting. We have we know no, but we was getting we appreciate it
Big time we appreciate it. We appreciate it when they came out with pastries
The chef came out I said it's the pastry
All right, listen, I know bigs want to get to it. This is what happened
Rockefeller and dog that military had a drink
And drink off what it was ugly. I don't know how this happened. I felt like it was together
But they wanted to separate niggas from
From immediately like once
you came to drink down this drink off so we're in the crib now Leezy I cannot
shit on Leezy Leezy drink every bottle but now it's no more vodka it's no more
armadale now remember armadale is gasoline. Big time. You got me a gasolina?
Let's go.
Armadale, you can light that shit up.
And you can fill your gas tank up with it.
Armadale. This is the original Armadale.
I still got one of those bottles down the crib.
It's not good.
But...
So we battling.
There's no more Armadale. And and money good down leaves you just fall asleep, but what's the battle?
How's it how's the battle?
No, you say shop basic watch the noise that we gotta drink big. So you know me.
And I don't say no, I drink big.
Then we ballin'.
Yo, niggas can't help drink that.
Yo, Billum, he's a monster.
We ballin'.
I hate that.
I don't even want to say that shit.
But we ballin'.
I'm hangin' in there.
You know me.
I had the man up.
Yeah, let me tell you something.
Me and Dame is big.
Me and Dame is big.
It's him and Leezy.
Now, Leezy is sittin' there.
He's good.
But then, it's the last shot.
Leezy say, it's no more. It's the and Leezy now Leezy is sitting there. He's good But then
It's the last shot
Lisey say is no more anything. There's no more vodka
Right then after what I said I'm like, who in the hell? He got moved, baby. And I'm looking. And he's like, yo, you sure your man is all right? I'm like, you're not even sure?
I'm like, I don't feel easy.
I look.
I'm like, no, I'm not.
And then Leezy opened the other eye.
Yeah, he followed me and said, open the eye.
He just looked at me and one of the eyes said, he gave me that.
You got to relax.
I said, all right.
Big up, down, Leezy.
We love you.
We love you, man.
We love you, too.
Big as a mother.
I couldn't.
I couldn't.
I couldn't.
I couldn't.
I couldn't.
I couldn't.
I couldn't. I couldn't. I couldn't, you gotta relax. I said, all right.
Big up, down, easy, we love you.
Love you, too.
Bigs are motherfuckers.
I'll drink Bigs, man.
We die ball.
Bigs, we chicken boil makers.
It's one of my blogs.
But now, Rough Riders, Rockefeller, you guys knew each other coming up.
Could they ever implicate an era like you guys had, Rough Riders, Rockefeller, even Murda Ink?
Yeah, Murda Ink.
Yeah, 100 percent.
You got to say Murda Ink.
Okay, Randy Hacker.
Could there ever be another era like that?
I don't know.
It's going to be tough because a lot of, everybody's independent now.
It's not like somebody
trying to build labels.
It's like artists
is trying to do
their own thing themselves.
You know what I mean?
But with that,
I mean,
everybody,
you got three crews strong
all selling three,
four,
five million records
every single time
they come out.
That's what Irv Gotti said.
That,
I mean,
it's hard to replicate that.
First,
you don't even,
you don't sell
those amount of records anymore.
He said that too.
What Irv Gotti said was,
Lior played Rough Riders, Rockefeller, and Murder, Inc.
against each other because every three months,
it would be an album that would drop.
So Lior would give love to Rockefeller
when Rockefeller dropped the album.
Nobody really cared who Lior gave. mean it was it's still a competition whether it's in-house
or not if dmx come out he's selling four million records we want to come out and sell four or five
million records if jock come out selling three million emmy it ain't even just with them anybody
but it just so happened we know each other so it it's like, damn, you know what I mean? Like, and the access, and you know,
with that relationship, that's how Swiss, you know,
we got introduced to Swiss from them too, you know?
Mama bringing them into the office that day,
that was, I think that was the first beat he produced,
actually, was Money Cash Holes.
Money Cash, Money Cash Holes.
It was banned from TV before that,
let me throw that out there.
No, for us.
So you thought it was for them?
Oh, for y'all, for us.. Let me throw that out there. No, fuck. So you thought it was for that? Oh, for y'all, fuck.
I just want to throw that out there.
We got it right on the music.
I mean, they done.
I'm in a jigga.
I know me and Dane went to go hear that
because Swiss had the hook for it.
Jigga.
So me and Dane just listening to it over and over and over.
We called Jay like, yo, you got to come do this shit.
This shit is tarnished.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Let me tell you something.
I need to understand
how that happened.
Because
Swiss is, alright,
in my mind, mind you, this is from my world.
I think,
I'm not sure. Ali wasn't involved involved I think it was Martin Moore who hit
you and said we got a guy named I it wasn't Swiss at this time it was just your nephew
yeah he's nephew that's what he said he's D's nephew I'm like alright everybody D's nephew. That's what I'm saying. He's D's nephew. I'm like, all right. Everybody's like, D's the guy to respect.
Okay, I'm respecting D.
And they're like, his nephew got beats.
And he came down.
And then we did Band From TV, right?
So Band From TV was actually recorded before Stop Drop, right?
Now, Stop Drop came out maybe the year.
No, it came out the same year, right?
Yeah.
But then Swiss just how did you know because he was your nephew how did you know this was the next guy to do the beats because
y'all had Dame Grease at the time correct we had Grease we had PK PK a bunch of producers but he
was he was just the youngest he was he had learned from a lot of things from everybody and kind of put it together and came up with his own sound because it was at
a point where he wasn't getting no beats in so we'd be like yeah that's good put that back over
there just so we keep on working so what got him was his determination like he used to live with me
so i used to be all i'm going home he'd be like no i'm gonna stay right here i'm gonna just stay
in here so he'll just stay in there all night.
And I'd come in, he got 15 new beats every day for about a year straight, basically.
And then he figured it out.
He had to figure it out and find his style.
And then he came over.
When you brought him to us, he had like 100-something beats.
That wasn't a hurdle for a producer to have something like that at that time.
We're getting some more bad TV stories that nature's here to listen listen I might
as well get it so I got to take a piss real quick so listen I'm gonna be honest
don't forget to tell a band from TV the first beat that wasn't the beat that was
supposed to be come on nature's I'm a spectator on this one nah I was gonna tell a story why he's right here what happened was Nas was on the
war report out he was on a record called music make these stars calm down if you
ever heard that record that record is not official it's never been cleared it was supposed to be on the war report out what happened was
i don't know but it never was clear right well columbia yeah it never was clear i don't want
to get into particulars because i don't really remember what it was for this moment.
So Nas and Jungle, Big Up Jungle and Big Up Nas, they had called me and said,
yo, we want to pay you back for that.
I was like, all right, bet.
They said we were going to do the Firm album.
I had never heard of what the Firm was.
Nobody had never announced that Foxy, AZ, they had never announced this.
So when they said the Firm album, I was like, word up. I was this when it's the firm up like
I was like so much of lawyers about to do out that's how I thought I heard in
the firm I'm not I cool they said yo we're gonna come to Miami I had never
been to Miami this time that's all I can't wait to go to find well God let me make a longer story short so I actually
came and it was nature session when I landed for the firm out and I don't
forget for what reason nature had landed later or something I don't know that's
how I'm leaving came about in my opinion you can you would you would tell me no
so I can't in fact I'm fucking up when I first landed it Dre had played me the bloody money
Beat first so I did that and then you came and this is your session though, but then you came in and
Then I'm leaving beat came on and I did my verse and you never you never, yo, why is he spitting that?
Why is he?
And that's the reason why I banned from TV.
Because he bodied it.
I was like, this nigga, I don't even know.
Where did he come from?
You got to speak in the mic, brother.
There's a microphone over here.
Yeah, speak over the EFN shit.
Come on.
But we'll get you later. So what I'm saying was, that we was doing bad so I did ban from
TV because I wanted to pay nature back but not being a hater for just sitting
back and just I know nobody told him I was coming right and I came in I just
worked and they just never just he could have been like I'm firm this thing's not
firm give him the fuck
out of here you never did Nate I respect it to this day I still love you you have my real phone
number just in case you don't know you gotta relax so listen
let me remix it I'm sorry so there was the original beat so I tried to get him and Swiss gave me
the LSB and they just said I don't like I gotta pay this guy back he just let me
live off the firm album but this is the LSB I'm looking at this
nigga like I want to choke you I don't like that beat and then he plays another
beat didn't Swiss plays another beat and then let's Swiss plays a beat and then
this is the beat that we he's supposed to be as well to be just me and nature
and nature takes two hours he's right in's writing this and the swiss it was so
swiss looked at nate he said you don't like this beat and then they goes not really and
then swiss plays bad from tv nate wrote his verse in 25 seconds
am i lying like and then this is the time where you don't tell a person you don't Oh, man. I'm a lion, Link.
I'm a lion.
This is the time where you don't tell a person you don't make their beat.
You just be like, yo, this is good.
This is cool.
Shut it down.
It sounds better.
All right, all right.
Okay, no, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I had to.
Rockefeller.
I don't know.
Yeah, never.
We getting back to Rockefeller Rough Riders, man.
So, your big face gag.
What up, Slime?
You entered a game.
Mm-hmm.
Your vision is only Rockefeller.
Yes.
How did your vision develop like that?
Big face gag.
How did that even happen?
Because I ain't naming no names.
Biggs had a friend who was A&R.
You're not naming no names.
I don't want to do that. I said Biggs had a friend who was A&R. You're not naming no names, no Biggs.
I said Biggs had a friend who was...
You're not naming no names.
I can name Biggs name. Had a friend who was A&R.
Biggs was the boss. Biggs fired him.
And I made some moves. Biggs didn't like.
I made state property my friends. They all liked me.
And I just started working hard.
I learned how to mix records. I used to call Biggs.
Biggs taught me everything I know when it come... I used to call Biggs. Biggs taught me everything I know when it comes.
I used to call Biggs.
Biggs taught me a lot of shit.
And Biggs said, and then we got, I just kept working.
And I said, Biggs said, nah, Big Face is not mixed right.
Biggs, you bugging.
He was fair, though.
You bugging.
It's not right.
Biggs had a hell of an ear.
Then he taught me.
I got better and better.
And Biggs said, gee, this is your niche.
They like you.
Stay pop.
It's your group. Do your thing. And then Biggs said, gee, this is your niche. They like you, stay pop, it's your group, do your thing.
And then Biggs left them to me.
Biggs would do the finished product.
I'd do all the music in the studio, then I'd let Biggs hear it,
Biggs wouldn't even like I fixed, and then that was it.
Now, Biggs, now what made you guys actually try to make people bosses they sell?
Because most record labels, especially right now, they get an artist they hot, and they want a 360 of them.
You guys is actually getting the artist,
getting them hot, and actually making them bosses.
Wow.
It goes back to what I was saying, opening the doors.
But another thing is when we signed our deal,
we knew we was just going to sell the company
in a certain amount of time.
So Rockefeller wasn't going to last.
That was the goal?
Yeah.
So, you know, most people don't know
when you get in the business,
you build and sell a company.
That's where you make your money at the end of the day.
So there's always a multiple, right?
So whatever you're doing at the end of the year,
whether it's a 5x, 3x, 10x, whatever it is.
The evaluation of the company.
Yeah, exactly.
Each industry has a industry standard know, an industry standard.
But we knew we was going to sell the company,
so it was about making everybody else bosses so after we're gone, they can do their own thing.
That's beautiful.
That's incredible.
Now, now, now, D, right?
The thing about it was,
we hear that you guys had the locks.
You guys had DMX.
You guys had Eve, another same time.
Eve came later, correct?
Yeah, Eve came later.
We had Eve a little later.
But you guys had the locks and DMX. What made y'all see that X would be the guy to go multi?
What gave you the insight for that? Oh. What gave you the insight for that?
Oh, what gave you the insight for that?
We already knew who was the pick of the litter at that point.
The pick of the litter!
We have the pick of the litter!
Because we had them already years before they even got on,
so we already knew who was who.
It doesn't matter if you had a good song or you thought you was nice, I knew who he was.
So it was pretty easy for us because we didn't, we never really got artists and
didn't know who they were before we put them on so we knew X was the pick. He was
the main one period point blank all hands down and all the artists knew that.
Now let me stop you there, let me stop you there,
let me get a bogey, leave a bogey.
Let me stop you there because the thing about it is,
you understand?
You understand?
You understand?
You understand?
You understand tongue language?
I ain't no fucking square, man.
You gotta relax.
You come up with a little crazy thing, son.
I gotta relax.
I gotta relax.
So listen, so,
because the thing about it is,
X is just not,
like, every encounter I ever had with DMX has never,
ever been in the street.
I could see this nigga in Fatburger, and this nigga's like, what's up nigga, you got a cigarette?
I'm like, damn DMX, you're 10 times platinum.
You ask the people, I definitely got the cigarette for you.
But, like, so how could you see us, like,
because we had Irv Gotti here, right?
And Irv said, like, I'm sorry
I keep referring to Irv because he just
refers to this interview so much,
right? And
he's saying that he's sorry
through a locked jaw.
Like, he's saying that, no, no, this is real shit, right?
The first time he ever rhymed for Leroy, his jaw was locked.
Is this true?
He has braces or something.
How the fuck can, like, listen, my dude.
I can look at certain people and say, yeah, yeah, I can see you get money.
I can't see you and say you're a superstar.
I don't have that ability. I can't see you and say you're a superstar. I don't have that ability
How the hell did you see that? I just knew he was talented
Cuz see when you dealt with him for years before he got on
It was just a matter of time for everybody in the world understood. So we was all over the place
We was you know, we was in the streets. So we hustled everywhere. We've been everywhere. We took him everywhere
Anywhere we had a battle. He probably never lost like he would battle and go
We want to battle and there'd be a bunch of people room and he'd be like, all right, you will go I go you go
I go you know, he was just good at his craft. Did X have a deal before the Def Jam deal?
No, I think it was I
Don't remember that deal but it was it was going be a deal, but he didn't really get it.
You remember the first time I met DMX?
This is real shit.
I'm in Battery Studios.
I'm old school.
I'm sorry.
Battery Studios.
Y'all need to look at that.
Look, this is how he laughs.
He's like, this nigga's old.
I'm in Battery Studios.
A dog running in my section.
Literally, a dog.
Jungle, Nas' brother brother kicks the dog. Whoa
And then 20 minutes later this nigga DMX walked in my shoes. Yeah, they just don't like dogs
There's no way it's only our crew in there.
The dog told him.
I was speaking to him.
You were speaking to your dog.
Me and the nigga been cool ever since.
That's real shit.
I swear to God I'm not making none of this up.
I swear to God.
Listen, man.
But on that note, too, you got to shout out to Irv
because he definitely got an eye for talent
and a good ear.
You know what?
I ain't going back to that.
You know he produced
Can I Live, too.
How about this?
That's the illest beat.
Yo, besides where I'm from,
Irv, I didn't know you.
I don't know nothing about you.
I was there in the studio.
I said that beat was ridiculous.
Because Irv was our DJ
prior to Rock and Roll.
Monster beat. Monster. Irv didn't talk about this on the podcast. Monster beat. He was our DJ prior to my master be monster
I heard didn't talk about this on the pocket. It's monster be slime. He was a can I live? Yeah, Isaac Hayes
Monster DJ of God. He said DJ
Every time we used to drink I don't lie nigga, relax. We would die,
base and day made sure we would drink and go studio at night.
Am I right, bitch?
What you had, baseline right at that time?
No, hell no, from Demo.
D&D.
Hell no.
D&D.
D&D.
We would drink and go to studio every night.
We'd bring a whole crew, no one care about nothing, and we'd snap, and
we have a ball, and Jay would rap.
That was it.
That was all we did.
Now how different was that for y'all?
Because back then, Harlem people stayed with Harlem people.
I know I said that earlier, but to see him just,
like, you know, how difficult was that to claim that?
Because that was y'all crew now.
I know one thing, we snap a lot.
They don't, Brooklyn niggas don't snap. They didn't let y'all crew now. I know one thing, we snap a lot. Brooklyn Lakers don't snap.
They didn't like y'all snapping.
We used to go, oh.
Nothing, Vase will snap.
I fucking have. I have my days with Vase don't lose too many battles, but
I so would lose a couple and I loved it.
Okay, let's do it.
Vase, I got you.
Vase, I got you. Vase, we jumped off the fence. I used togs lost. Sean Arnold Biggs, Sean Arnold got you. Biggs, Sean Arnold got you, Biggs.
When you jumped off the Biggs, I used to lose so many.
And your brother, rest in peace, Bob, got Biggs a couple times.
After that, Biggs was the best.
Oh, his brother.
That's not a loss.
It's your brother.
It's not a loss.
Anyway, Sean Arnold Biggs, this Sean Arnold could snap.
Biggs used to go to war.
Biggs had a, what they said, a Virginia seven-hour drive.
Snapped him.
Seven hours straight.
You know you can't escape.
I'm in the highway.
Me, I'm jumping off the car.
But you can.
You just gotta get up.
Then one time Biggs, Biggs was about one or two battles.
But my point is, Brooklyn niggas don't snap.
You know niggas, first they don't get money,
they don't buy clothes, they don't buy weather,
they buy guns.
They don't buy the snap.
They got to relax. They got to relax.
They got to relax.

Irv Gotti, the black CEO, Hov, of course, I mean, but you know, I'm just saying, I'm
speaking for all just CEOs, no artists.
Yeah.
Do you think that time will ever come back?
Tough to say. artists. Yeah. Do you think that time will ever come back? Tough to say.
Yeah?
Yeah.
Do you think that time is necessary to come back?
I don't know if it's necessary,
because everybody's taking their fate in their own hands.
So everything that we was trying to teach artists back then
to be their own boss, now you can actually do it.
You can record your album in the house,
in the crib, put it out on TuneCore, whatever it is.
Make your own money.
Build a following on social.
Go perform.
Can't forget not to perform because everybody just
think, put something out on YouTube
or Instagram and they're not on the
road. Get on the road, build up a following,
but you can do it yourself now.
So the blueprint has changed a little bit. Technology the landscape how about you d the game is a little
different now because of the technology and you know everybody could do it themselves you know
you train them and you show them the blueprint you know you show them how to do this do that and then
everybody be able to do it on their own like the locks everybody else be able to get deals
independent deals and move forward.
So you taught them everything.
So it's not going to never really be the same like we did it.
We did it.
It was a little different.
But they could do it themselves now.
What I'm most happy about is seeing that the artists are getting money outside of music.
Because that's what we always try to teach them.
Like it's other things outside.
It don't have to be music.
You use that as a platform to get into something else.
Biggs, I got a question for you. Hold on, before you do that.
But now, Rockefeller, right? They expanded out to clothing.
Yeah.
But when they got to clothing, you weren't involved in the clothing. Why was that?
Well, I was involved in the cross-marketing of it.
So that's why when Dame went over there to Rock Rock-A-Where, I stood and I took over
Rockafella, so that's when I was doing, trying to sign you.
You know the sign?
Then I did Kanye's album and Young Gun's album.
So, you know, while he was doing that,
and everybody played their part,
it was perfect because I was, you know, doing all the cross-marketing, taking the artists to perform, state property, taking everybody to London, do the Rockaway shows in Germany,
wherever we was going. So it was important to do it like that.
Okay, now, D, right? I want to ask you because you and Rockaprola did the biggest tour together, correct?
And I felt like, in my opinion, I could be wrong.
Like, X was the biggest artist at that moment.
You could have did a Rough Rider tour by yourself.
What made you choose to do a Rockefeller Rough Rider tour together? Because you were the head honcho,
you could have said, fuck it, let's just do Drag On, Eve, but you said you chose to do the
Rockefeller tour. What made you make that decision? I think we was, I don't remember if it was,
I think it was probably me and Hov, because I was kind of more, me and him had a relationship,
and we would be talking different things,
and we probably came up with the concept of doing it together.
Plus, you know, we all come from the same place,
so it was like, you know what, let's give it a shot, let's go.
We were all high anyway, so we was good.
He was big, Hov was big, X was big,
so it just made sense at that time to do it together, you
know, it'll be bigger, so that's what we did, we just did it together.
Let's make some noise for that guy.
Me personally, I think, like, as a person that's been in the industry as an artist,
and when I bossed up, I just bossed up with just us.
I just feel like we need the black CEO.
We need these guys.
The one thing about Biggs, me working with him directly,
is I could say some bullshit in a circle,
and Biggs would be like, he'll look and he'll like,
somewhat agree with me, and then pull me to the side and be like, he'll look and he'll somewhat agree with me
and then pull me to the side and be like,
you know you can say bullshit.
And we don't have that no more.
Like artists don't really have that.
Like artists don't really have the,
yo I'm gonna fuck with you,
while the CEO, like the people is around,
the other people is cutting the checks.
And then as soon as it's going,
oh look nigga, I
understood everything you said.
You were taught it.
Like, we don't have that
no more. And that's the reason why
so people can't complain about the lyrics
or the music. They gotta
complain about the people that's actually
pushing it.
I don't know if that makes sense.
You understand what I'm trying to say?
Can we ever get back
to
where you guys are running
or a person that's like you guys?
Let's say it may be that.
I mean, it's obvious there's a lot of young artists, right?
Like, you know, little kids today
that's getting in the game that may not know it.
But then there's a lot of seasoned managers
as well that can play that role.
You know what I mean?
So it doesn't always
have to be the CEO.
If you can surround yourself
with a good team
with people that season,
you ain't got to really
depend on the label.
That's what we used
to tell everybody.
Stop depending on the label.
Even with us.
Right?
We would go to the artists
and be like,
what do you want to do?
What's your marketing plan?
What are your songs?
What do you like
the single to be?
You know what I'm saying?
We were trying
to always teach.
So, I mean, like Geno, right?
Like guys like that.
You got people, you know, all around people that manage and do stuff that helps the artists.
I think that they can look for that for help as well.
Maybe it morphs into people taking over the reins of some of these technology companies as well.
Because that's what's kind of running the business.
Wait, say that again?
I'm sorry.
People taking the reins of the technology companies. The tech companies that's kind of running the business. Wait, say that again? E, I'm sorry. People taking the reins of the technology companies,
the tech companies that are actually
really running the industry.
So before I use the bathroom, because I
got to use the bathroom real quick.
I'm going to be honest.
I've been holding it the whole time.
But listen, is streaming helping or hurting the industry?
Big Xandie question.
Does it help it? Because right now, forgive me, on Spotify, I got like 300 spins on like one shit, right?
So 300 spins back then, I'd be 200,000 away from being gold on a single but then
they calculate it very different they say 300,000 or they say every 1500
spins off those downstream streams equals one so it's streaming helping or
hurting the industry truthfully I don't know I didn't really look at the
business of streaming so I really can't answer that
how about you D?
well
it probably
like we said you know we don't really look
into it I'm
old school I don't pay attention to that
as much but it's probably definitely going to
affect the whole business on
top of everything so
it's never going to be the same like if you keep saying it's probably never going to affect the whole business on top of everything so it's never going to be the
same like if you keep saying it's probably never going to be the same there's too much technology
okay hold on y'all i'm taking a few pieces I got a bunch of people. I know you got a full line. What's up, baby? What's up? What's up, baby?
What's up, baby?
You all ready?
I'm good.
You good?
Yo, listen.
We back.
I had to take a pee-pee.
This is how it's going down.
But now, Biggs, I want to take it back to reasonable doubt.
Oh, my God.
That's a classic.
That's my shit right there.
I'm lost focus now.
You lost focus?
Picking it with a bottle.
That's my ever, nothing to outdo the album. Ever, ever, ever. That's my reason right there. I'm lost focus now. You lost focus?
That's my ever nothing to outdo the album ever ever ever.
We did that together as brothers.
Every day.
Every hangout. Southern Comfort. Bacardi.
Bits giving me a thousand jokes.
Picking me up the mix at 12 o'clock.
We drinking again and again.
Till the next day. Don't do that to We drinking again and again to the next day.
Don't do that to me. I'm not crying.
Was it Chris Downer?
Give me attention.
Was it Chris Downer?
It was Biggs and Wong.
It was Biggs and Wong.
Chris, that was nothing.
That's what they did on record.
And you said Wong?
OG Wong?
Yeah, no, no.
I'm just going to say like...
OG Wong was there?
No, he wasn't.
Not for a reason at all.
No.
Not for a reason at all.
Not for a reason at all.
I thought you said OG Wong.
I said that, but I said it wrong.
Wong was there. But that's my doubt. You got to relax, dude. I'll tell you about wrong out of it. I was there
Okay I'm gonna keep drinking. Okay. Slop, slop, we high five. You can go. All right, so, Baze.
Yeah.
You finally believe after he battles DMX.
Yeah.
So, in your opinion, he beat DMX, right?
Correct?
Mm-hmm.
And now you guys go to record an album, or was y'all already recording the album prior
to that?
No, we wasn't recording the album prior to that.
So, now you go record the album.
Yeah.
You go record the album.
Yeah.
You go record the album.
Yeah.
You go record the album.
Yeah.
You go record the album.
Yeah.
You go record the album. Yeah. You go record the album. Yeah. You to record an album or was y'all already recorded an album prior to that?
No, we wasn't recording an album prior to that.
So now you're going to record the album. So what makes you continue to believe?
I started to hear other songs. So 95 South, a song that never came out. I think that was a song that Clock did.
It was like two or three other songs that I heard that I never heard before that Clock had done.
Where Jay was talking more like how Jay talked as of recent.
So that's what made me a believer.
It's been after in my lifetime.
Let's get to when you were locked up, right?
First off a lot of people don't even know we were locked up for what happened. It was a conspiracy
so I introduced somebody to somebody in
in LA from New York and
They they didn't even know they didn't do a deal. They wanted me to basically talk, so I chose not to and got time for it.
Grilled nigga shit.
Curse me out, Sly.
I'm going to fuck.
I'm talking now.
Now I'm talking.
Now I'm talking.
Relax.
Relax.
Relax.
Relax.
Relax.
I'm going to fuck Sly.
No, no, no.
Let's make some noise for him.
For Biggs.
Everybody talk like it's all right to talk now.
God bless you, Biggs.
Because let me just, as an outsider looking in, right?
When I heard Biggs had a charge for Bud, I said there's no way Biggs is selling Bud.
I was buying dispensaries in California.
That made no sense to me.
The legal side of it.
I was buying dispensaries in California. This is what I'm trying. The legal side of it. I was buying dispensaries in California.
This is what I'm trying to tell people.
I'm like, what's your business?
I got to take a few on that one.
Wait, what?
When you're ready, let me talk.
Relax.
Let me take it for Biggs for that.
All right, kid, you got to relax.
I'm going to relax.
I'm sorry.
Biggs, say that again.
So you was what?
Buying dispensaries.
You was buying dispensaries.
In California.
Yeah.
Medical dispensaries.
So why when this story came up, these people actually thought that you were selling weed?
And to me, I knew.
I had a hundred arguments.
This nigga Biggs ain't fucking selling no weed.
Mushroom Biggs ain't stupid.
This motherfucker buys pounds to smoke.
Looking for a scapegoat.
That's what that guy did.
So they actually found two pounds in my house and was like, we got it.
Oh, damn.
But you know how I buy weed.
Was the rumor true, like where they said you had a leak in your house or something like that?
No.
Oh, and then they.
No, that was in my penthouse.
That was years before.
Oh.
Yeah.
Okay.
During Rockefeller.
During, in Jersey.
Yeah.
I love that penthouse. I love it. You don't got that no more? I want to buy it. Oh, okay. Dern Rockafog. Dern Rock, in Jersey. Yeah.
I love that.
Yeah.
You don't got that no more?
I'm on the vibe.
You still got it, I got it.
Yeah.
Still got it.
No, you ever seen, man?
This person, you had the first volcano I ever seen.
Fucking asshole.
He said it.
He just said it.
Yo, he had the first volcano.
He was my man, man. You said, well, how have I been there?
Fuck you, relax.
You relax.
He's my man, man.
I'm not no groupie.
That's not what I'm talking about.
That's my man.
This is my friend.
I know where he lives.
We had a good time.
Fucking asshole.
Big Face get him!
Fucking asshole.
He's getting old. He's getting old.
He's getting old.
Gary.
Yeah, Big Face was locked up.
You want to say that one more time?
So, now, what's the best era in hip-hop?
In your opinion.
It doesn't have to be the era that you were in.
Just the best era in hip-hop, period.
That's tough.
Late 80s, probably.
Early 90s, yeah.
We talking about Chris Cross era. Nah
Big Daddy Kane era. Okay, I can't be MD. I can
Ducky fresh Nah, after that. That's after that. I think it was Jin and Juice at the time.
Yeah, going right into our era.
Jin and Juice is 92.
88 was KRS, right? Slick Rick.
89, 92.
Yeah, yeah.
Coogee Rap.
Coogee.
Coogee Rap.
What's your favorite era, D?
Right around that era, right there, all the way up until it got to us. Yeah.
That's deep.
My favorite era is us.
Yeah.
I'm sorry.
Selfish.
Now, man, selfish.
Seeing him in that room was a hard hour.
That shit was a hard issue.
Here's Gary.
Here's Gary.
Back up!
Fuck with me, man. This is a great time, man.
This is Drake Champ, Big Face Gary. It's a great time right here, man. Big's here, Sly. Back up. Fuck up, man, man. This is a great time, man. This is Drake Champ, Big Face.
Yeah, it's a great time right here, man.
Big's here, Slime.
Yeah.
You're supposed to have Beans and Freeway tomorrow.
But they're not here.
Oh, yeah?
Beans and Freeway tomorrow.
What was the experience with Beans and Freeway?
Nah, Beans, phew.
Let's talk to the mic.
Beans is another level, man.
One of the best rappers I've seen in a long time.
But he had an alligator bite you.
Yeah, yeah.
But you know, Beans is Beans.
Beans is a street dude who did what he wanted to do,
but lyrically, a monster.
Never seen one like him, man.
I A&R Beans gave me the opportunity.
A&R Beans, one of the biggest.
I didn't go to jail with him at two, three million
in the beginning.
Beans gave me that whole album.
But then, of course, at the end, I would let Beans.
I would have to call Beans. He's my boss, what do you want? Biggs taught me how to mix records, you know, things like that. But Beans, special. Biggs, special rapper.
Definitely.
Right, Biggs? Special. Monster.
And you said he could have been just as big as Jay?
Yo, he was...
He didn't go to jail?
Very close, just a lot of jail time.
No disrespect to him.
Philly's a very bad...
It's a tough town.
If you don't hold your own,
you don't get handled.
So he just had to handle...
Did what he had to do.
But...
Biggs and Philly's are special, right?
Yeah, great talent.
Oh, my God.
How about P.D. Crack?
I got to say something.
Forget P.D. Crack one second.
Biggs bought this...
This is what Biggs did.
Biggs was smart.
He would hang with us. Biggs would go to the studio
and do his work, and come to the block with his niggas
and bring every album, everything we did.
What y'all think?
He wouldn't say nothing.
If we like it, Biggs said he got a hit.
If not, it ain't it.
But Biggs put the truth, remember Biggs?
I said, who this nigga here?
Biggs said, this nigga from Philly.
You know what I'm like, when I heard the truth,
I tried light skin, man.
Use what I use, use tools how I use,
use fools how I use.
That was actually Kanye's first single.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Shout out to Biggs to find the Kanye West, too.
Everybody take props for the Kanye, Biggs and Day.
The truth was Kanye's first single.
Yeah, yes.
Wait, wait, wait.
Hold up!
No, I'm not taking on your show.
I got to do one thing, babe.
Shut up.
You got to be quiet.
You're drinking too much at one time.
I'm sorry.
I'm a little hype up, but I'm drinking that.
Let me take a drink.
Here we go.
I take a drink.
Take a drink.
Take a drink.
Let me take a drink.
Hold on.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
Hold on.
I'm going to calm down.
So you said what?
Say that again.
Which one now?
You said that the truth was Kanye's first single.
Kanye produced it.
But Beanie rapped it.
Biggs bought it to 147 Atlantic's where his crew was at.
We was all there drinking.
Biggs would do a record and make sure...
Biggs had a technique with us.
He'd do the record and come to the hood.
We'd play it off like it was nothing.
If we liked it, Biggs had it.
Biggs played The Truth truth I turn light skin
ridiculous I said big nigga for fully keep daughter I said really daughter and
he just kept hitting those the records my biggest attitude, he come to the hood with it, man.
Big time rapper.
Big time rapper. Big time rapper.
Big time rapper.
Okay, so now,
I got to go there.
Okay, go there.
Go where you want to go.
You guys are top of the world.
Give me some rosé.
They popping shit.
They asking me to come to the hood.
I'm going to run out.
I'm from the good times in my world now,
so you got me here.
You know how I am.
So listen, you guys on top of the world.
But look, we had all that talent from Philly.
I don't know where the hell he get Eve from
and start selling all these millions of options.
No, we're going there.
We're going there.
Remind me to go there.
Remind me to go there.
We're like, yo, how that shit slip through?
Come on, man.
And then you guys, well not you guys,
Hold wants to diss Nas, right?
Oh, that's so damn fine.
So Hold wants to diss Nas, right?
You're getting my shit right now.
Yeah, you fucking out, man.
Hold diss Nas.
So Hold diss Nas, right? Boof.
Get shot at, shit, boof.
You can't have a shot of champagne.
It doesn't exist.
A glass of champagne, a cup of champagne.
Okay, shit, I'm sorry.
No, that's all I'm gonna do.
Listen.
So hold this Nas, right?
I love you, babe.
I'm about to glee over it.
What may y'all say to y'allself?
Like, all right, cool.
I'm gonna go.
I'm gonna go.
I'm gonna go.
I'm gonna go.
I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go. So hold this Nas, right? I love you, babe.
What may y'all say to y'allself?
Like, all right, cool.
This is what Hov want to do.
We backing him?
Or did you say, this is not us?
Like, what was y'all position before the takeover?
I think it was after I heard the takeover. I don't even think Jay spit the rhymes to us before.
But he just did take over. On his own? Yeah, and. I think it was after I heard the takeover. I don't even think Jay spit the rhymes to us before But he just didn't take over his own. Yeah, and then and then I heard it
I was in either it was rare. I need those ridiculous. It was rare. So how did y'all feel? Let's just be honest

You know something now on top one timeime. You know when you sit on seats, but on top of the seats.
Like that. Not there. Like not where Randy's at. On top. Yeah. Okay. So we talking. That
record came out. Jay said, I'm going to kill this nigga. I started laughing. Oh yeah, yeah,
yeah. You don't kill a nigga, I ain't going to. Nah, I'm going to kill this nigga. He
said, dick sucking lips. You know men don't play that game Jay hated that verse He can take
That verse pissed him

He said he didn't have it.
He said he didn't have it.
Nas, I'm gonna say he didn't have it.
He said he wasn't putting it up.
Islam, I'm making a sign.
You know I don't do that.
Nah, I know everything you say is right.
I'm not a liar.
I'm not a liar.
But Nas didn't say that.
He said he didn't have it.
He didn't say that.
He didn't say that.
You know what?
Look it up.
He didn't say that.

I'm just telling you. I just know. You that I'm saying is in your feelings, nigga. Means that's not a lot of money to have.
All y'all in your feelings.
Everybody don't have a million dollars.

All y'all not in reality.
Having a million cash here, friend, is very serious.
He said he was turning to 40.
Heard on 97.1, Angie Martinez said it, Flexer said it, I don't make up lies.
They could kill me tomorrow.
I don't give a fuck. He said he'd turn into Ford. Heard on 97.1, Angie Martinez said it,
Fletcher said it,
I don't make up lies.
They can kill me tomorrow.
I don't give a fuck about nothing.
I don't have to do that.
Nas definitely didn't say he can't afford it.
Okay, well, he definitely,
I'm just telling you,
even if he can't afford it,
he can say that on record.
Okay, well, son,
you know what?
Son has different words.
Yeah, I'm just telling you.
In fact, whatever words you use,
Nas, I'm a big fan.
For the record,
I used to destroy Jay behind the line.
I said, look, Jay was, Nas is better than Jay. fan. For the record, I used to destroy Jay behind Nas. I said Nas is better than Jay.
But then when Jay became better, I manned up.
So if I'm saying it wrong, Nas, I apologize.
But I remember there was something about the money that wasn't right.
All I'm saying is Jay came back that summer and hit that classic record, HOVA.

Greg Mize, M-I-C-E, the post-Dudwick.
That's my era.
From there, then I'm not going to lie,
I became a rock and roll fanatic.
From there, I don't know nothing but rock and roll after that.
After that, I'm not going to lie.
Let me tell you something. One time not big face Gary came to my studio
I was just talking to him like about cheeseburgers
He's like yeah, it's beans love that too
You know I'm all about to go get some french fries. He's like, bleep, love. You know what's so sad about that?
Your uncle, your uncle choked me.
And I'll take that and I'm going to tell you right now.
When you come home, I bet someone here that don't want
to be special though.
I call myself.
When you go through a lot, and then you bring around
these guys every day, and you just, you're making,
you're having fun making good money, you're not listening to me.
I set up a meeting with them.
I made five grand.
Yeah.
And yo, let me just tell you something.
It was tough.
One day I just had to tell him.
I was like, you know.
Norby screened for him.
Yo, listen.
He's bigger than Rocker.
He screened for me.
Just a life.
Behind Rocker, brother.
Like everything I was talking to him about, I was like, yo, you know.
You see this chick?
She got a bad lace front. He was like, yo, you know, you see this chick? She got a bad lace front.
He was like, yo, you should have seen.
Big stretch.
The sad shit is, it's sad, but you're right.
I love the niggas that much.
They let me down a little bit, but that's my problem.
You got to relax.
You got to relax.
I'm not getting mad.
It's my problem.
Bigs me have 90% great, 2% bad.
This my man, yo.
I got no problems with bad, man.
Me and Bigz have great, great time.
I done told y'all, Bigz was driving big cars useless as hoochie.
I had Bigz car for nine weeks, basically.
I said, Bigz, I have your car.
Oh, you got my car?
Bigz, he didn't care about shit.
He's a good dude, man.
He's a good dude, man.
Me and my dog, we're fucking garbage, Bigz. We even sold out the ball makers. He didn't care about shit. He's a good dude, man. He's a good dude, man. He's my dog, but he fucks with garbage bags.
He still drove the Boilermakers.
He drove everybody home.
Get my nigga Shrek.
Get my nigga Shrek.
I love that.
Come on, man.
That's my man.
That's my man.
That's my man.
But I'll say one thing, though.
When you got your teeth fixed, you look a lot better, though.
Oh!
Hey, guys. You got your teeth fixed, you look a lot better though. Now look at this.
Hey, Bobby. Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!

Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Shout out to my man Yang, Upper West Side Biggs. I only see Biggs as my man.
Biggs taught me a lot.
Younger than me, Biggs is a boss, man.
I got to give people that proud.
Jay-Z boss, Dane boss.
I got friends behind Biggs and them.
Bum B is one of my best friends.
He calls me.
My man, my man.
Norrie.
Norrie told me one day, Gary, you're not a rapper to me.
You're not an A&R.
You're my friend.
So I swear to God
had some bad experiences, but
Me and Nori real close. Me and um
My man, my man Bumby is very close. Yo one time I remember at Sony studio
We came to see you and you was with PD Crack and that's when me and Nori bumped into little C
Oh, was that little C that was fucking with Junior Mafia?
Yes.
Little C, that's the first time he got close to Nori.
And it was ill, right Nori?
When the studio was PD cracking
and you had a session with Stonewall.
Oh you know, Nori's an asshole.
Nori's an asshole.
Nori's an asshole.
You know what Nori's an asshole?
You gotta tell him, Nori's an asshole.
So you gotta teach him to rock.
You know you gotta get fast.
All I'm saying is, we joke.
Nori killed me a little bit.
All I know is rock.
Nori got some new jibs.
Biggs is fucking, Biggs is stronger than Cobra right now.
Biggs is stronger than the dog right now.
And we're all different.
My man Yank, Sean, my man Yank.
The low east side, upper west side, we all having fun.
Nori, I'll give you a hug.
When I met you, your teeth was like a cat.
It's just yellow like a cat.
But now, this shit's whiter than a mug.
Whiter than a piano key, but they got the pretty ones.
You got the pretty ones, man.
They got the sl ones, you got the pretty ones. You got the pretty ones, Bob. They can slide and juggle, slob.
You did the reggae, you did the reggae tune.
Your career was almost over.
They drink champs brought you back.
You was a saint. I'm just joking, I'm not on your level.
I'm not on your nigga's level.
Biggs, you, I never seen what y'all seen, but I do know one thing.
When you're told, I'm gonna finish you.
Lordy killed him.
13,000 spins.
Lordy killed him.
Lordy came back. I told him that. I'm gonna kill them. Nobody came back.
I told them that.
That shit was so dope.
175 million in the audience.
That shit was so dope.
No, you killed them.
No, you killed the game.
That shit was so dope.
You shot the video and then you added on on the video.
Remember when you gave Normie the chain?
You got it with that.
When you gave Normie the chain.
Yeah.
I want a chain.
But I didn't lie to him.
Yo, wait.
But you shot the chain.
Hold on.
Hold on.
When I did what?
You got to relax. Wait. I did what? You gotta relax.
Wait, say it again.
Nah, I'm in the round.
I was involved with this reggaeton shit.
So what happened is, Biggs, so we shot the video in Miami
without them.
Then they split the video, and then they shot another
introduction to add it to the video when they gave Norby
the Rockefeller chain.
Who gave it to him?
You did.
My bitch.
And where is it?
I'm not there.
Someone's got to realize.
Where's the chain?
Where's the chain?
He never signed the deal.
Can we talk about why you never signed the deal?
You got the chain and never signed the deal.
Norby, why did you not sign the deal?
I'm not there.
I'm not there.
I'm not there.
I'm not there.
I'm not there.
I'm not there.
I'm not there.
I'm not there.
I'm not there. I'm not there. I'm not there. I'm not there. I'm not there. Can we talk about why you never signed a deal? You got the chain and never signed a deal.
Why did you not sign a deal?
Oh yeah, Nikon.
Let me tell you something.
Oh yeah, why you never signed a deal?
That was my first platinum chain.
I got their names right.
I fucked up.
Shout out to Eric and Jeff Rosenthal, man.
They sure was great, man.
That's the one who heard me that day when you called me.
Don't do that annoying look with that dumb face, man. That's me don't do that no look with that dumb face man and you loved it
don't do that they got you they got They were so rich. Listen, listen. Where's Ali at?
Where's Ali at?
Ali, what did Pop tell you the other day?
Come here, come here, Ali.
I'm too rich.
Ali, come here, come here.
Ali, come here. Ali here, come here. We didn't bust till the end. Ali, come here. Ali. Ali.
Ali.
Ali.
You can't do that.
No, no, I'm not talking about the other shit.
I'm talking about when we was in his crib, right?
I gave him the man-dead idea.
Me and Jim Jones, we got a man, we got a man-dead idea, right?
So then we're not relaxed.
I didn't say what it is.
So and then, and then Pop said, you got to come to the money couch.
I never knew there was a money couch.
But I went.
I sat down.
I said, the money couch feels fucking awesome.
And he said,
that's it.
I forgot my part.
I know the money guy.
What the fuck was I saying?
Pup Daddy.
You brought Ali over here for something.
Why you didn't sign?
Pup Daddy.
What the fuck you saying?
Why you didn't sign?
Why you didn't sign?
Don't change the subject.
Why you didn't sign?
Why you didn't sign?
Okay, let's do this.
Ali, you got a reason for him not signing?
Why the fuck I said this?
No, he didn't sign because it was like we didn't know who it was.
It was Jayden.
Jayden.
Jayden.
Jayden.
Jayden. Jayden. Jayden. Jayden. Jayden. Why you inside? Why you inside? OK, let's do this. I don't know. Why you inside? You got a reason for him not signing?
Because when the fuck I said this?
No, no, no.
When you inside, because it was like, we didn't know.
It was Jay.
We were sitting on the money couch.
What he said is, he said, sometimes,
say I'm just so rich that it's just hard to care.
That's what it is.
It's hard to care.
This is the reason why I brought it up.
Wow.
Wow.
He said, Paul said this?
Listen, listen.
I want to make this clear.
You're paraphrasing.
I want to make this clear.
I wanted to sign The Rock.
They were my niggas.
They invited me to every movie they ever did.
They invited me.
So I felt there was something going on.
And I was like, fuck it.
I'll fuck with y'all.
No problem.
Dame and Biggs, they never sent me a contract, not once.
He said I never signed it.
I never got presented a contract, not once.
I swear to God.
I know you probably...
Randy.
Yeah, Randy got the contract.
Randy got the contract.
Randy. Randy wrote it. Oh, Randy wrote it? Yeah got the contract? Randy.
Randy wrote it.
Oh, Randy wrote it?
Yeah, I don't know.
It definitely gets sent to me.
Listen, listen.
I'm not even looking at Randy.
Give him no signal.
Listen, it definitely gets sent to me.
But I was asking y'all, send me the contract.
Y'all was like, be good.
Y'all put the chain on me. I was like, be good. Y'all put the chain on me.
I was like, you good.
That was it.
And what's up?
Oh, Mo Yala, let me hit that.
But that era in hip-hop could never be duplicated.
In your opinion, do you think that era in hip-hop could ever be DMX?
Because, again, I'm sorry to keep
referring to her but herb is the person that we just had on here and he dropped
balls but what he was saying was every year it would be Rockefeller dropping a
bomb did Rough Riders dropping the bomb and then murder a drop in the ball we
dropped every fourth quarter every year. Do you think that era can ever be duplicated?
Never.
I don't care.
It's going to be tough.
Never.
It just can't even happen in today's industry.
What do you think, baby?
It can't happen in this climate right now because of the way things change digitally.
I know all of us has the work ethic to do that every year, but it's just the game is different.
Y'all make think I'm crazy.
Yeah, people are putting out the music. I'm going to tell that every year, but it's just the game is different. Y'all make think I'm crazy. Yeah, people putting out the music.
I'm gonna tell you what I think,
had the work ethic Jay has,
Beez Magritte does great, to me.
And people think I'm crazy.
Drake has a work ethic, man.
He puts record out after record after record,
but he just don't have the swag that people looking for.
His work ethic is there, though.
He wear Timberlands with no leather on it.
Drake, I said Drake.
You hear from my friend opinion, no one agree?
Drake put out record after record after record.
But he wear Timberlands with no leather on it.
He got no leather.
He got swag, but he got a workout.
But he got a workout thing.
Y'all can say it's calling boy rap.
The boy rap.
The boy rap. The boy rap. The boy rap. The boy rap. The boy rap.
The boy rap.
The boy rap.
The boy rap.
Okay, now Biggs, has there ever been an artist that came to you that you wanted to sign,
you didn't sign, and you regretted?
That I wanted to?
Probably the only one we didn't go through was Scarface.
Mmm.
Wow.
Okay, everybody relax.
Wait, before the death jams, was Scarface there? Everybody relax. No, it was during. Okay, everybody relax. Wait, before the Def Jam, was Scarpies on?
Everybody relax.
No, it was during.
What era are you?
It was supposed to be Rockefeller?
The Fix album that was supposed to be on Def Jam?
No, it was-
No, that was on Def Jam.
That was on Def Jam.
Yeah, it was before that.
I mean, we was talking to him, because you know we had a relationship.
Scarface was on almost every album that we did, or Beans album.
So we was talking about signing up.
And then probably Twista, we never actually signed.
We actually...
Damn, Twista would have been hell.
Yeah, because you know Twista was like
an honorary Rockafella too.
But he actually didn't sign, he did like you.
One level, one level.
Your bings keep coming back.
He did like you. One level. You had Nelly. Your bigs keep coming back. Bigs. Big job. Nelly.
You had Nelly?
Nah, I had that, well, God bless my man, Trel, brought me, he brought the album, but he was
bringing me so much, I'm like, yo, take it to hip hop, man, I can't listen to no more
music.
And hip hop is your brother?
Yeah.
A real old brother.
Yeah.
By the way.
And he took it to, what's the other dude I was managing, Nelly?
Kool Love. Kool Love. Kool Love. He took it to uh, what's the other dude I was managing on Nelly
Cool up cool. They took it and then they did it and that was that album
There's the second episode that fucking Nelly and cooler love gets mentioned in you motherfuckers ready to be now deep
Motherfuckers better come here. Not deep have they ever been an artist that came across that table that you fronted on and you regretted it?
Really at that point cuz I have more than enough artists I gave all this away like I have me
You have a nice I have made side the locks out all the models
Like I had to give some way to just to be able to get it done. So where you had Mace? Yeah, I had Mace. Mace used to be with me. I had Mace. Mace, I heard him once. Yeah, Mace used to be with you.
Yo, ho, ho, everybody, everybody, ho, ho!
We had children of home Mace.
We had children of home Mace, and I think he probably went over there after that.
Hold on.
So you had Mace?
Yeah, yeah, I had Mace.
Describe Mace.
Mace from Harlem, so you know anything from Harlem moving, I'm pretty much going to be
able to get my hands on it because I know a lot of people in Harlem.
So, D, we always thought you was from the Bronx.
You're from the Bronx and Harlem.
Both.
I'm from the Bronx and Harlem, but you know, I was born in the Bronx, but I've been in
Harlem all my life, so the bridge, I can walk across the bridge, I'm good on each side,
so we all right.
So it's all like, it's family, you know?
Bronx.
So I've been in Harlem so much that, you know, I'm a Harlem nigga, cuz I dress like a Harlem
nigga, but I'm a Bronx nigga when I gotta get ugly.
I'm a Bronx nigga.
Mase was actually on Dead Presidents.
What?
Dead Presidents, yeah.
This is a history.
That's crazy.
On Jay-Z?
I can't even imagine what that sounds like.
I heard that.
Without Jay.
Yeah. So he had the beat first, you're saying? He had the beat, but I didn't like imagine what that sounds like. I heard that. Oh, the beat without Jay. Yeah.
So he had the beat first, you're saying?
He had the beat, but I didn't like the way he sounded,
so we took him off and we gave it to Jay.
So now, so now, okay.
Because that's when Children of the Core, remember, we had.
With Big Al and McGrath and all that.
So there was never a version with Mase and Jay?
No, not both of them.
Okay.
This is the only one that we had that, you know,
was way back, is when niggas done started something. That was This is the only one that we had that, you know, was way back.
It was Niggas Didn't Start It Something.
That was just on the mixtape.
That's how I heard them all right then at that point.
Niggas Didn't Start It Something.
Mase, all of them was on there right there.
That was the song right there.
That's it.
Yeah, we need a clap for that one.
History lives around us.
This is history.
Your big face, guys.
What's up, Slop? You know we love you over here on this side.
Why don't you take a shot?
I'm drinking.
I ain't stopped drinking yet, bro.
You got to take a shot.
I'm having a good fucking time.
You're having a good year.
I don't know what that podcast you went to before.
You know you got me.
We'll talk about that later.
They got you.
What's up?
You know what's up?
What's up?
My personality don't stop. I I'm Gary it's easy for
me damn sure you gotta do your own podcast yeah you know I'm gonna get
educated yeah you get that we got right we got you we got you oh we got me you

You want some Beyond?
I knew what I was gonna do.
I want some Beyond.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up.
I'll wake you up. I'll wake you up. I'll wake you up.al was so expensive for the average person in the hood.
You guys made it famous, and then at some point, you guys pulled away from it.
I would like to describe, if you can, describe the moment of making Cristal famous and the moment of pulling away from it.
I think we probably started drinking it in 93, 92, something like that.
Oh, it's a gel.
Go ahead.
Yeah.
It was actually at the Dead President's video.
Actually, in 96, we was trying to find a new champagne.
So, Le Grand Dome and what's the other one?
Vive?
Vive Clico?
Yeah.
So, we found that, but they didn't taste as good.
So, we kept drinking it.
But that was back in 96.
And then you discovered Cristal?
Yeah, three, four years prior.
Okay.
Yeah, so at 96, we was already done with it.
So what happened the moment where you guys felt like Cristal was racist?
That was years, years later.
I mean, we felt other companies was racist.
That's how we got into Armadale, because everything we was doing for Belvedere at the time,
putting that in songs and making that popular.
And then we reached out to Belvedere to get some cases for a video, and they said no.
So we did another song, and then we tried to get a deal with them, and then they said no.
So that's why we did it.
It's just Belvedere, not Greyhills.
Yeah, so that's why we did Armadale.
And then I said, fuck that.
Same thing with the clothes,
with Iceberg,
and that's why Rockaway started.
So what...
Okay, so...
Because he said that very, very fast.
Okay, so you guys tried to get an Iceberg deal?
Yeah, we tried to...
Because Iceberg was the hottest clothes line at the time.
We got to talk about that.
You see, a lot of people don't know that. When you say Iceberg, people are clothes line at the time. We gotta talk about that. Yeah.
You see, a lot of people don't know that.
When you say Iceberg, people are thinking just whatever, right?
But no, Iceberg was that wave.
Iceberg was hot.
It was like damn near Gucci.
Bitch, you're not from Chabonov, right?
Huh?
The bitch don't know what I'm talking about.
Around my way.
No.
It was played out there.
Stop talking Harlem talk.
It ain't a Harlem talk, bitch.
You're speaking to the world.
You're so disrespectful, man.
Yeah, you gotta relax.
Bitch, it's played out by. Stop talking Harlem talk. You're speaking to the world.
You're so disrespectful, man.
He says play it out, but then fuck all y'all.
Fuck your mother.
So you guys go to Iceberg?
Yeah, we reach out to Iceberg.
You say, we just want gear, or you guys want...
Yeah, we try to get first, we tried to get some clothes.
They said no.
Right, so after making it popular again,
the same thing like we did with Belvedere,
we reached out to try to get a deal,
and they didn't want to have nothing to do with it.
So yeah, that's how Rockaway...
That's how Rockaway started.
That's how Armadale started.
That's how the music business started.
Every time somebody closed the door,
we went and did it ourselves.
Y'all invented your own thing.
Let's make some noise for that guy.
Yes!
But in hindsight.
No, no, no, you gotta tweet to the mic.
The nigga can't hear you.
I just want to know that.
Kareem to Kareem?
Kareem to Kareem.
Alright, listen. But in hindsight, when y'all became millionaires or whatever, I just want to know that... Kareem to Kareem? Kareem to Kareem.
Alright, listen.
But in hindsight, when y'all became millionaires or whatever, and...
You mean from the music business?
From the music business.
Alright. Biggs, Biggs, Biggs, stop that. I'm Biggs, I'm Biggs. I'm trying to be a champ.
No offense, you killed my man.
Slap, slap, slap.
Hold on, hold on, hold on.
I'm trying to be alive.
No, hold on, hold on.
Your uncle's getting mad at me.
I swear I'm not going to disrespect you.
He said before the music business.
I'll give you money.
I'll give you money. What's your problem with me?
I get it. Chill out.
Alright listen, now what I'm saying in hindsight, like, you know when you start dealing with big companies,
cause at first you said that y'all thought that a lot of people was, all these companies was racist and everything about it or whatever.
I didn't say that. No one reacts to that.
So you said that, whatever, y'all didn't think that
whatever reason
y'all was reaching out
with them
and they wasn't
fucking with y'all
and do you think
in the beginning
y'all didn't like
they just shitting on y'all
or whatever.
For whatever reason
y'all think they ain't
dealing with you
but when y'all become
dealing with bigger companies
and everything like
do you think that
they were just misinformed
by why they wasn't doing it?
I mean,
I can't say
why they didn't want to do it or not,
but what it did is motivate us to go harder.
So we just use it as motivation.
So there was no racist shit going on?
I don't know.
You didn't care.
It was like, whatever.
Somebody said racist.
This is why I really was saying that they was
Not somebody.
You know what I'm saying.
Oh, you said it?
All right.
Come on.
You can't be acting.
You said it.
You said it.
Oh, wait.
Talk.
You can't be basing your shit on me.
He didn't disagree.
He didn't disagree.
He didn't disagree.
You know what I'm saying? He didn't disagree.
Big Big, you know, you perform music.
Hold on, one more thing.
Being that he chimed in,
I wanted to say something about him for a minute.
Okay, bro.
It's hard to find a man that loyal these days.
When I, how I grew up, how you grew up,
we must, you know what I'm saying, I'm 44, I'll be 45.
47, thank you. So, you know what I mean?
Like, it sound crazy sometimes when a man is that loyal,
but that's, it's hard to find a motherfucker like that,
and I motherfucking respect you for that, man.
Okay.
Yeah, that's a, yeah.
Okay. Yeah, let me tell you something. Let me tell you something. That's all I knew. Okay. Yeah, that's it. Yeah, okay.
Let me tell you something.
Let me tell you something.
Let me tell you something.
I used to hang out with Gary.
Thank you, man.
Thank you.
And everything I spoke to this nigga, I'd be like, yo, I'm about to get a good
hair on.
He'd be like, yo, you know, you know who love hair on.
Keep it real.
You know what I'm saying?
You know what I'm saying?
You know what I'm saying?
You know what I'm saying?
You know what I'm saying?
You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm not a dick ride I just love them because they put me in a position that a normal person can't get into if they didn't love me
No, I just said I was making
And I didn't know shit
That's what I'm talking about. That's what I'm talking about. No, no, stop talking about that. Stop talking about me, bro. He's talking about loyalty.
Stop.
You know that, bro.
You don't even love each other.
Nothing else.
What I'm saying is that I did love Rob.
That's all I knew.
When the Rick with Dan Dazs was in the image.
That's what he's saying.
He's saying you was loyal to one brand and nothing else.
And when Dan Dazs was in the image.
You was the first person I ever looked at and said loyalty is too much.
I've never dealt with
so fresh
what's up did I come to the studio
everyday by myself
did I come to the studio every night by myself
that's how I met all y'all
I met you all y'all
let me relax

let me just reveal the secret young guys bleak all these
niggas will go make albums and we'll go present it to Rockefeller and rock for the be like nigga

Nori has his own studio.
So what we're going to do is, we're not going to say it's Nori's studio.
I had a, because remember, my studio was on Madison Avenue.
The name of my studio was called The Hood Lad.
But the invoice was called Madison Incorporated. I used to was called The Hood Lad. But the invoice was called Madison Incorporated.
How does it stay in The Hood Lad?
Big meat all the time.
Big meat all the time.
Come on, big, big, big.
Big support with a driver.
And he would make me throw my weed away, too.
He hated haze.
I would throw my haze away.

Hold on, hold on, hold on.
Tell him off, tell him off, tell him off, tell him off.
What did I say before Biggs?
Nah, I'm gonna look that up.
What did I say?
What did you say, really?
You said he's your favorite executive, a CEO.
Why? I forgot why you said that. What did I say? What did you say, man? Really? You said he's your favorite executive, a CEO.
Why?
I forgot why you said that.
Remember, remember, chill.
I'm not going to look at you.
Does he approve the what?
Oh, you said he approve.
He said if he like it, he approve it, and he give you whatever, give you a chance.
You said give you a chance.
Look, nigga, you just said the same exact thing.
I just told this to my nephew.
I'm a big-ass sucker.
Big-ass sucker.
Relax, relax. I'm going to say what you said. I'm going to say the truth. I'm helping your... You don't have to help me. said the same exact thing I just told this like 18 piece been up since was
like my friend was my mentor His big brother was my mentor.
And Biggs is my man. You don't have to talk about Biggs.
Everything, Biggs' houses, I've been everywhere Biggs is.
His father, recipes, his mother, I knew everything.
My line of Biggs, I was there eating with Biggs, talking, this is a good dude, man.
So I don't like when you just do this shit, like,
Biggs is somebody like, I'm a groupie. That's my man. So I'm fucking this.
I said, you just look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie.
You look at your boobie. You look at your boobie. You look at your boobie. You look at I did a little bit? Because you have a business mind.
I don't know what you say, kid.
Your big's been ridiculous.
You're talking to Mike.
Sit down.
I'm not gonna lie.
I just got to say that.
No, man.
I'm getting mad because he kept saying,
you been to Big's house?
This is my thing.
You keep saying that.
No, no.
You been to Big's, man.
Listen, I'm done with you.
It's all good.
It's all good, G. It's all good.
Nah.
I got to say.
I got to move on to the bathroom. No, no, no. You got to relax. Listen, end the dance. you. It's all good, it's all good, G. It's all good, it's all good. Nah, man. I'm good.
I'm going to the bathroom.
No, no, no.
You got to relax.
Listen, here's the deal.
Here's the deal.
It's a great show, son.
Here's the deal.
I just want everybody to understand.
Hold on, hold on.
Let me get one second.
Let me get one second.
Shh.
I just want everybody to understand and realize, me and this guy right here, Eric Fernando
Nogado. Damn, you got to throw my government at this.
Motherfucker.
But when we started this shit, we sat together and we said to ourselves, there's
every format for a new artist to come on. If you're just new and you just you know you had you had one record and you can order um what's that shit
called millie rock you know how to millie rock you got you got your platform you know we respect that
but we sat around and said where's the platform for people who've been in this industry you know
more than five ten years and where's the platform for them to respect them?
Correct, EFN?
Yeah.
Correct.
To talk about legacy as well.
And legacy.
And this is the reason why I'm honored to be sitting in front of Biggs,
to be sitting in front of D,
to be sitting in front of Big Face Gary,
and to be sitting in Stingrays.
Stingrays, correct?
My man.
What address again?
2150 5th Avenue.
2150 5th Avenue.
This is the reason why we're honored.
Thank you, man.
Thank you.
The thing about hip-hop is
when you get a certain amount of years in hip-hop,
people want to tell you that it's over for you.
People want to tell you that you're done.
You guys had a successful
clothes company and you had a successful clothing company,
and you started another successful clothing company,
and you and Barney's, and you and Nordstrom's or whatever.
You got to relax.
And these people want to say,
you can't do it again.
And the thing about it is our platform
what we represent is
we can live forever
because hip hop
shouldn't have a limit to it
when you sit around and you look at the Rolling Stones
you look at the Rolling Stones magazines
look at the Rolling Stones they're actually still
touring
their publication is still actually
in existence.
Why we can't do that with hip hop?
Why we can't be.
It's not their publication.
You know what I'm trying to say.
What I'm trying to say is,
why we can't be our own.
Like why we can't,
we get it, certain people gotta be on,
you know, reality shows and certain people,
but we have to uplift our people
forever and make sure that they
live forever and make sure that their
legacy live forever.
So that's what Dream Champs
is about.
That's what Dream Champs is about, saluting
D from Rough Riders,
you know, Biggs.
Yo, you guys
are the epitome of CEOs in the time with CEOs matter and we
may never ever see that ever again we just might not never see that again so
if nobody else will big y'all up or salute y'all,
and I'm sure people salute y'all and big y'all up,
but I would like to do it on camera, notified.
So I don't know how many.
Yeah, that too.
I don't know what's going on out there.
It seems fun.
Dice game.
I'm ready to go to the kitchen.
They got dice game in the kitchen.
You know, Biggs,
I can't thank you enough for being so honest with me.
For being so truthful with me at the time.
And even when the break that was happening you
never lied to me you kept it real me you kept it you gave me a brief conversation
but it was real you you just say you can't be real with me and and think
about that is I could only salute you for that I can only
bow down oh shit then Mike hit me
D same exact thing um you guys dominated whatever you had to do would you ever
you guys was dominated you guys came back and you let you never changed on me
if I needed a DMX feature if I
needed a locks feature I needed a JD kiss feature you always cleared it for me and the thing about
it is I missed the era when you guys was in the forefront not saying you guys are not in the
forefront now but what I'm saying is I missed when you guys was actually in the building yeah you know
cuz now I'm a media guy so now they invite me as a media guy
so now I get invited to the building but I'm like kinda media so they're like you
know we got such a such shooter who what? What's his name? And they want me to cover him and they want me to
interview this guy. I'm like, that's not, you guys have never seen my show.
I salute legends. I salute people that have been here.
People that have more than 10 years or more in this game. Because
if you don't have more than 10 years in this game,
you have Hot 97. you have Power 105, you have...
The entire internet.
You have the entire internet.
But to get on this joint, you have to be 10 years or more and be a legend.
Okay.
You got to be diamond.
Trying to pass down the story.
You got to be diamond.
Nah, you don't got to be diamond.
In years.
In years. In years years you gotta be done yeah
and the thing about it is you two brothers along big face guy live some of the most craziest eras
in hip-hop like dmx and jay-z had to be the two most craziest, most opposites popping at the same time.
Yes.
Because X was, I mean, to my mind, he's still out of his mind.
That's my nigga.
I love him.
And then Jay, he's the most put together person in the world.
But Money Cash Holes worked.
How does that work?
I mean, Jay, you know, he goes any way.
So it depends on whatever song he's getting on.
That's what he's going to be.
Jay rap the everything.
He's the most versatile rapper I've seen in my life, man.
I'm not being biased. I know Jay. He's just a monster.
He done proved it already. He done did too much already, man. He did it already, man.
I can't believe this shit, man.
Then you got two greats.
Yeah, Biz is my friend. I know Biggs for years.
Biggs is the young head.
Y'all laughing, all y'all joking.
Biggs here, Slime, you, so I'm your friend, fuck rap, I'm your friend.
There's about a thousand of you who love me.
Fifty ugly.
Fifty Denzel.
And they love me and I love you all.
This shit crazy, man.
I'm super happy.
You made my day, man.
Okay, G.
This is a beautiful thing.
You threw me off.
What's wrong, son?
I'm not trying to be sentimental.
You've been killing me all night.
No, I wasn't killing you.
You killed me all night.
I killed you for 30 seconds.
This is your show.
I love it.
I love it.
You killed me for 30 seconds. I didn't even respond. I I love it. I'll kill me for I get this any response
I got bad jokes, you know
Rock a full of this hero
First dude I've ever seen in the whole industry. It is like he can't no no
I'm not even trying to be funny. I got you came to my studio one day and everything I said he was like
yeah he kept naming a rockin for the artist and I was like you see no I'm
sorry I'm not you know you know this is a life?
Like, you know you could go home,
you know, eat your girl's pussy, and rock a fella.
Yeah, yeah, I'm going to say it.
Yeah, I'm going to say it.
I'm going to do it.
Yeah, I'm going to say this.
If you come from certain things you're not used to,
I'm going to hit that shit almost.
I'm trying to go around.
And you come home to making 70 grand a year.
What am I supposed to do?
You got your blessings, bro.
With guys who I grew up with,
this motherfucker.
But listen,
he come to my studio.
I be like,
yo, what's going on, G?
You good?
He be like, yo,
you know, beans in these bottoms.
I'm like, yo, G,
leave them niggas alone
when you come here.
Like, just chill. G, I'm not going. You're killing me, killing me. No, I'm not. I'm not. yo, G, leave them niggas alone when you come here. Like, just, G, I'm not going to.
You're killing me, killing me.
No, I'm not.
I'm not.
You're killing me.
You're killing me softly.
You're killing me.
You're killing me.
You're killing me, man.
And you was dead.
He never listened to me.
And you was dead.
I was dead, big G.
This is the first time in my whole life I said, that's a version of being too loyal.
Like, he was just too loyal.
Like, what I mean was, he was just too loyal.
Like, what I mean was, he couldn't see I'm not coming at you. You want to kill me, son?
No, I'm not coming at you.
I just never seen nobody.
I'm bigging you up, baby.
Because, bro, it's my name on that.
Yeah, the loyalty was so crazy.
But at the same time, I was like, gee, you know, a seesaw goes up and down.
He only sees the up part. It's like gee, you know a seesaw goes up and down And then I was like, yo, you gotta you know, we gotta come down yes, this is a base and I almost got evicted I
Have no idea we going for a base me the asshole
It's her face was never just gave me a business to be never told me no in my life. I don't know
We were in but I mean, know where we went, but I'm in.
I'm just being, let me do what I do.
You kill me a little, let me get a little back.
No, I did not, yeah.
My point was that there was hard times
after Rockin' for Dimm, Dazz, Music and Foldin'.
Biggs wanted to go there.
And then it was time, I was stressed out before that part.
Way before that, Biggs had a rule.
Biggs make me mad, man, I dongs had a rule.
Biggs make me mad man, I don't give a fuck. But he'll make up.
G, whatever I do for you,
don't tell nobody.
Beautiful.
It's a beautiful rule.
I don't remember.
It's a beautiful rule.
Biggs don't remember shit.
He still don't remember.
But if you buy my bass,
I'll say it's a front bass,
you was there, you know,
alright, let me say this,
this'll get Biggs a little bit.
What's your big brother, my man? 100%. I love that nigga their you know, I'm gonna say this doesn't get based a little bit So what's your big brother my man?
100% I love that maybe these are the depth when he died I took a chunk out of me by my dad's less when I
Needed bigs. He never tried this back on me ever ever ever ever ever ever

I'm joking.
Bumby and Nori are the only rappers that said, fuck rap, we love you. Nori had a big ass house, too.
His house was ridiculous.
Now, listen.
Let me tell you something.
Big is the only name.

that's how many's, they telling me, Big's, I said, Big's bought pounds of weed to smoke.
Big's called me one day and said, yo, calm down.
I came out of my crib.
He said, take a trip with me.
I said, all right, cool.
I brought no bags.
I'm like, all right, cool.
And we in Tudorboro.
I'm like, hold on.
What type of trip will we take?
Nigga said, well, we going overseas.
I said, oh, shit, I got to get some clothes.
He said, that's not what we do over here, Slum.
We buy the clothes when we land.
I wasn't a baller like that back then.
I didn't know what to do.
So I was like, all right, cool.
I couldn't really back out.
So I went.
We went to Amsterdam. This is when heroin of first
Yeah, it's like this the first time I ever heard of heroin. I actually thought we were smoking heroin

That shit was weed.
That shit was weed.
That shit was weed.
That shit was weed.
That shit was weed.
That shit was weed.
That shit was weed.
That shit was weed. That shit was weed. That shit was weed. That shit was weed. That shit was weed. I almost spoke to like 300 people and I'm trying to explain to people
Biggs is really a real smoker. That nigga ain't doing
But this is this is my so I never actually asked you that so what happened with the case again again
One more time. I'm father. Yeah, I introduced two people was a conspiracy and I chose not to tell that's the short form
Take a shot of that guy I'll tell whatever you want me to do base base from his brothers can't man big brother
Yeah, Bob allowed told me everything. I know I came to squeeze. He told me like god bless his soul, man
I knew that wasn't gonna happen I knew that was gonna happen
There was a month. I wasn't gonna happen not big Leo. What wasn't gonna happen picks tell him on people who whatever he wow
They just knew that was gonna happen big say give me that
But you know, this guy look big time money. So you have to wait the lawyers base per load as much as he can. He said, okay, it's time to go NG. It's okay.
Yeah, Biggs did as much as he could do, man.
That's a good number.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Can't gas me, man. I don't even know that part, Biggs.
Your ways ain't that.
No.
What's this going to do?
Is it going to kill me?
Nah, nah, nah.
That's the house time.
So now, Biggs.
All right.
I love this look right here.
Okay, look, look.
Check, check, check, check, check.
Everybody, everybody.
Please, give me one second. Give me one here. Okay, look, look, check, check, check, check, check. Everybody, everybody, please give me one second.
Give me one second.
This is my time.
So now, here's the million-dollar question to the whole industry
that I watched all your interviews and they never asked it, right?
When you were locked up, right,
it was so many rumors, so many things,
and then you come home.
Prior to you coming home,
Dame had actually did like a publicity run.
And he was quoting how you were mad at people.
He was like, Biggs is mad at Kanye.
Biggs is mad at Jay.
Biggs is mad at Disney.
Yo, why you don't...
Chill, G. But you can ad-lib me. Keep ad-libbing. Biggs is mad at Jay. Biggs is mad at this. Yo, why you don't?
Chill, G.
But you can ad-lib me.
Keep ad-libbing.
But don't kick him.
So Dame was just running with this, right?
Well, Dame actually said, I seen the interview on Sway.
He said, Biggs is probably going to be mad at me for saying this.
Because that was coming from him.
But I see the Breakfast Club, he didn't say that.
Yeah, so he did it afterwards.
He fixed it.
Okay.
So why do you think Dame took that approach?
I'm not sure.
I can't, you know, Dame is Dame, you know.
But I didn't feel no way about anybody.
All right, so now taking it from you coming home, you coming home, did anybody act funny with you
because of those statements
or no?
No, not at all.
Because I think
the first picture
we ever seen of you
when you came home
was in Madison Square Garden,
correct?
With Kanye.
Probably, yeah.
And then, like me,
I'm fake media now.
So the internet went crazy.
As long as you're mine.
So, yeah, you can do that.
I got something to say crazy when you're mine. Yeah, you can do that.
You got something to say crazy when you ready.
So did you think, did you know how powerful the internet was at that point?
Yeah, definitely.
You knew it?
Yeah, of course. I wasn't in Siberia, I was in Philadelphia.
Right, or defense.
Yeah.
So now you come home.
You hear this backlash.
You hear what's happening.
And then the first thing is we hear you say you don't got nothing to do with it.
Do with that.
And then you and Jay is in Fairfax.
And it's a Supreme block. I forget when
Fairfax yeah, I called the Supreme block because the spring is right. Yeah, so they see you and
There's no dang dash there. Yeah, and then two days later. They see me and day did they see you and day? Yeah, actually you put that together
Mmm, give me the problem
What happens oh my bitch good, yeah You can give me the props, Biggs. Go ahead, get it, Biggs. Talk about that. Talk about that, Biggs.
What happened?
Tell me about it, Biggs.
Go ahead.
What happened?
You reached out to me.
You was like, yo, hit Dame up.
Yeah, because, you know, I'm going to be honest with you.
I never said this, and I hope Dame is not mad at me, but I looked and I see you and
Hov together.
And I really-
You had told me that, I think, prior to that.
It wasn't then.
Right.
You know what I mean, I had,
but I spoke to him and seen him, so.
Right.
I had pictures with Jay, I had pictures with Dan.
And I appreciated it so much because,
it's just like, when I see somebody who was with Pun,
and now obviously Pun is not here,
I always want to give him that same love that if Pun was here.
So when I see Rockefeller,
it's just,
I always think of y'all three.
Thank you, yeah.
Am I...
It's the same thing.
Nothing changed.
Am I an idiot for thinking that three?
No.
It's a trifecta.
It's all of us.
Rockefeller couldn't have been Rockefeller
without me, Jay, and Dan. Okay. Big's all of us. Rockefeller couldn't have been Rockefeller without me,
Jay,
and Dan.
Okay,
thanks.
Big time.
So now,
let me ask you this. Still my brothers to this day,
both of them.
God damn it,
let's make some noise for Dave.
Yes,
yes.
So now,
the Reasonable Doubt album,
is that owned by you,
Dan,
and Jay?
Yeah,
yes.
I knew that.
I knew that. I knew that.
Sorry, bitch.
I'm disrespectful.
I was there for that.
I knew what happened to that project.
Sorry, y'all.
Curse me up.
I was there for every song they fucking made.
Am I lying, bitch?
Go get them.
I was there for every reason without the crew and all that.
Not me.
Not bitch.
They got drunk.
We the student. And we did record after record after record.
All of them niggas.
Yes, sir.
I'm from Upper West Side, but that's my brothers.
I remember my son.
Biggs is going from Biggs.
That's how I'm from Upper West Side.
They know where I'm from.
I got to do what I do, man.
That's what I do.
But no, it's slum. I got to say that, man. man. That's what I do. But no, it's slum.
I got to say that, man.
Biggs had a thing.
It was all of us, though.
Emery, Tide.
Emery, Tide.
We got Emery.
Biggs was the main name?
Tide.
Big Tide.
Big Tide.
Yes, sir.
Big Tide.
Yes, sir.
We hung out every night.
Boilermakers.
We ate the dive bar on 19th Amsterdam.
We drank a boilermaker.
That's a beer with shots of bourbon.
The Tide. White people. The Tide was $2,600. Gary, are they going to pay this? the dive ball on 19th Amsterdam with Jim Boyd make us a beer with shots of bourbon the tap white who not the tab is 2600 about it. Me the bigs, I'm with y'all. I don't know about that shit. Nah, I ain't get bigs on nothing. Bigs think I'm the FBI.
No, you big, we got you
to spill mad shit.
What's good spilled? I don't care about the Zines in the room.
I ain't lie. Gary don't lie.
There's great spills, Gary.
I don't lie. We love you, Greg. And I love y'all.
We love you.
I don't smoke slime.
If you hit one
full slime, it's not gonna happen. It's not gonna is. I don't smoke slime. If you hit one to pull my line, it's not gonna happen.
It's not gonna happen.
I had to drive home.
I'm good.
I love the shit.
I gotta drive home.
He said, I gotta drive home.
You ain't driving shit.
You live in Miami, man.
Where you driving to?
To the W.
I'm gonna give this crew a minute.
This is, we laugh.
This is special, man.
Thank you. You know, that's what we do
This is the best show in America
My goal is to be the second best show in America
Cuz I got to... This shit is crazy.
I'm going to... You don't know that name?
After Rock and Roll.
After Death?
This shit is crazy right here.
Look at Biggs.
Biggs, you had $100 million, Biggs.
You pissed me off, Biggs.
Biggs had a Honda wagon here
with Biggs Leathers
with a...
and a bunch of fucking money.
Played it great.
He played the game great.
So big.
So big.
He was there.
One of the shows that I would like to teach.
Yeah.
It's called rap class.
Right? It's called rap class, right? Meaning, I spent probably like,
D, bigs, everybody, from 1997 to 2007,
2017, we might have spent like a million dollars
in liquor, right?
Shit.
Ten times more than that.
Ten times more than that.
We like to drink. We like to drink. So, but we still don't understand I'm a choice like people in
the hood still don't understand like a good bottle or red one that cost $600
so I wanted to teach rap class meaning you know where you say I want to spend
this but you get this yeah, like I see the pictures with
Oblique say hold before fuck that um Steve Stout you see that that photograph or where Steve Stout was coming from Italy
And and they actually pulled Steve Stout over and he was sitting there and he had all these bottles and I
Had a you know know I got white friends so I had the white friends Google every bottle that he had and every bottle that he had was like thirty
seven hundred forty five hundred but it was shit that I never heard of and I'm
like damn I want to drink that do you think we need rap class
