Starting point is 00:01:50 What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. Listen to Good Company on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And it's Drink Chats motherfucking podcast. Make some noise. He's a legendary Queens rapper. Hey, hey, it's your boy N.O.R.E.
Starting point is 00:02:36 He's a Miami hip-hop pioneer. What up, it's DJ EFN. Together, they drink it up with some of the biggest players. You know what I mean? In the most professional, unprofessional podcast And your number one source for drunk facts It's Drink Champs motherfucking podcast Where every day is New Year's Eve
Starting point is 00:02:51 It's time for Drink Champs Drink up, motherfucker Hey, hey, say, no, no, no, no No? Okay What's up, guy? You... No, no, no. No? Okay. What's up, guy? You wildfire right now, bro. I'm ready. I'm ready, man. I'm so excited about this interview.
Starting point is 00:03:10 This is from my town. My town. When I hear this, it's from my town. I love it. All right, you ready? I'm ready. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:21 You know what? Keep all this from the beginning. Yo, yo. Hey, Hank Sangu. I hope you're stopping. It's your boy, N-O-R-E. What up? It's DJ for the beginning. Yo, hang, hang, sangria. Hope you're stopping. It's your boy N-O-R-E. What up? It's DJ EFN.
Starting point is 00:03:28 And it's the most fucking drink champs. Happy hour. Make some noise. Now, right now, what we're interviewing is one of the most innovative, most prolific, most, you think about Queensbridge, and you think about the athletic side of Queensbridge which a lot of people don't understand and I'm not from left rack so it might be a little bit uh favoritism because that's like our cousin project but these guys they really compete every day with each other and this is one of the brothers that I've seen. I saw his father actually train him.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Like I've really, I've witnessed that. I witnessed him. Seen the evolution of it. I witnessed him play against Kobe Bryant and then they asked him and they said, yo, is Kobe Bryant the best person you ever played against? And he said, no. Mike Chatfield was.
Starting point is 00:04:22 And I said, oh shit, I was in jail with Mike Chatfield at the time. It's fucking fantastic. I'm freaking, holy moly, guacamole. But if you don't understand who I'm talking about right now, we're talking about Ron, Ron, Ron Artest, Metal World, Peace, my brother from another
Starting point is 00:04:38 mother, and let's make some noise for him. Now, let me start off with that because in my mind, I still call you Ron Ron. I don't mean no disrespect. I mean all respect because I'm going to be honest.
Starting point is 00:04:55 I'm going to start the interview with this. I thought I wasn't, but I'm going to start the interview with it. Your father was probably the strongest person I've ever saw. No, real talk. What I mean by that is I used to go, I used to sell drugs in Queensbridge, right? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:14 And at one point, I seen your father every day he was outside with you at the ball court. Am I lying? No, you're not lying. Am I? Every day? Every day, every day. At one point, you're not lying. Every day. At one point, I almost thought it was child abuse. It was raining
Starting point is 00:05:32 and he'll be talking to him and I'll just be sitting there like, wow, that made me want to be a better father. I'm just being honest with you. I don't know if you ever looked at it like that. I'm just saying. Yeah, I always want to be like my pops. It's just hard to do it. It's hard to do.
Starting point is 00:05:48 I try. That's a man's man. He's a man's man. He is. I'm not bullshitting. He would have me... My mom and my pops divorced at 13. They separated. It was too much for the divorce. $99. They couldn't pay that. Wait, what?
Starting point is 00:06:03 $99. It was expensive. How did you even know that? I99. Only $99? Only $99 because it was expensive. How did you even know that? It was expensive. I knew. I was like, this is making it happen already. I ain't even dating no more. Right.
Starting point is 00:06:12 But I told my dad, when that happens, you're like, oh, what is my dad going to do? You can't come around. What happens now? Right. Every day, every night.
Starting point is 00:06:21 You were living with your moms at that point? And when they separated, I was with my mom. Right, right. My dad, every night. And he would get off work and that point? And when they separated, I was with my mom. Right, right. My dad, every night. And he would get off work, and then he would come.
Starting point is 00:06:32 We only had a little bit of time, so he would keep me out until like 2 a.m. I'm not going to lie. And we just balling. I would just see him. Listen to me. Listen, because I'm from Lefrak City, right? But my Queensbridge side, there's six blocks of queensbridge 96 buildings but i'm from 12th street like if i'm a queensbridge guy if you're gonna tell me and i used to me too i grew up on 10th street but i'm basically you a 12th street guy you have it capone tannity you know
Starting point is 00:07:01 that that's that 12th street so i used to see your pops just training you, but I'm going to be honest with you, the first time I seen him train him, I said, this guy's going to the NBA for sure. I'm going to be honest, and it was normal to Kiam. It was normal to Key Juan. Kiam being Capone.
Starting point is 00:07:23 Capone. It was normal to these niggas, but I'm sitting there as a left rack guy and I'm like, all we have is Vincent Smith. Vincent Smith- But y'all had some talent. Deon, Darrell. We had that, but- Yo, y'all niggas was nice.
Starting point is 00:07:36 I'm not going to lie. Your father was so determined. I'm sorry. I'm just making- Yo, you know Deon Darrell was nice. Definitely should have been in the league. They had some... We used to lose to your projects every single time.
Starting point is 00:07:51 I don't think we ever beat y'all. I don't think we ever beat y'all. I don't know why. But, okay. Now, because out of Queensbridge, who was the first person to make it as a ball player from Queensbridge? Well, we had, the first person we had was Vern Fleming. Vern Fleming, that's correct.
Starting point is 00:08:17 Vern Fleming from our block. He actually, his niece had a baby with Aaron. Wow. Adam and Aaron. And then Sean Green from Nas Block. Then we had Red Bruin. Vernon. We had Sean Green from Vernon, Nas Block.
Starting point is 00:08:32 We had Red Bruin. We had, man, it was, I can't remember everybody's name. It was so much talent. Ronnie Williams to the Celtics. And it was crazy because me, Sean Green, and Vernon Fleming all played for the Pacers. All three of us. Same time. I didn't know you wanted to go there that fast, Ron. It's good. And it was crazy because me, Sean Green, and Vernon Fleming all played for the Pacers. All three of us. Same time.
Starting point is 00:08:47 I didn't know you wanted to go there that fast, bro. It's good. We bringing up the Pacers. Yeah, yeah. Let's make some noise for the Pacers. Y'all can hear us. Listen, my nigga, I'm going to be honest with you. I don't know where I was at in life or what was happening in the world, but I watched the news clip.
Starting point is 00:09:06 I saw it live. And I seen a cup thrown at you and everything in my bones said, you can't let that go now. Thank you. I appreciate you. I'm glad somebody's with me. You know, I was like,
Starting point is 00:09:22 I seen the cup. I seen the cup. Nah, slime got to go. You got to show him. You got to show him. You know, I was like, I seen the cuff. I seen the cuff. I said, nah, slime got to go. You got to show him. You got to show him. You got to show him that we played on the hill. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got to show them.
Starting point is 00:09:34 And what was it? What's the guy named? Jermaine O'Neal. Jermaine O'Neal. Jermaine O'Neal. Because I just read that y'all just spoke. Yeah, yeah. Is that true?
Starting point is 00:09:44 For 14 years? Yeah, yeah. Is that true? For 14 years? Yeah, yeah. Because, you know, I was anti-social, man. I was like, I was always in survival mode. So I never really wanted to be around people. You know what I'm saying? And it wasn't that I didn't like nobody. No, but he did jump in and fight with you.
Starting point is 00:09:59 It is amazing that he did because they would go out for lunch. We'd get into the city. And I don't go to lunch. They go out for dinner. I don't go to dinner. I've never for dinner. I don't go to dinner. I've never been to a lunch with Jermaine O'Neal. Just us two. Right.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Until like two weeks ago. Wow. Wow, two weeks ago. You know what I'm saying? And it was just because I wasn't- Yeah, bro, you fucked my head up, man. I thought that was your homie when he walked in the stands with you. But it was Steven Jackson that jumped in with you.
Starting point is 00:10:21 No, Steven came to the stands and Jermaine handled things on the floor. After you got pulled out. Yeah. Right. It sounds like a dry bottle. This is me. Let me get that. Forget it.
Starting point is 00:10:31 Continue, bro. Yeah, and you know, because I was just so competitive and I was always just in survival mode. So even practice, they'll tell you, I'm going hard. Like if you like the 15th player, you're supposed to go the hardest. I'm going harder than you. And then after practice, sometimes there'd be some controversy. And I always held grudges. I just couldn't let it go. So the next day I come into practice, I'm not talking to nobody. And then I hold it for two weeks. I just couldn't let go of stuff.
Starting point is 00:11:02 It took me a while to evolve, and I didn't make a lot of friends. I didn't make a lot of friends. And then when we were on the court, if you were playing against me, you're definitely not going to be my friend. Okay, so let's describe what happened that night though. That night you're playing. Is this Detroit?
Starting point is 00:11:19 This is in Detroit. In Detroit. You're in Detroit, which is a very rough place. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got some tequila. Come on, come? In Detroit. You're in Detroit, which is a very rough place. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got some tequila. Come on, come on, man. Please. Please. Ice.
Starting point is 00:11:29 We got ice. Come on. Help him out. Give him a shot. Oh, you can drink Tiger Bowl, too. We got Tiger Bowl. So you're in. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:11:34 So I need to understand what's happening, right? Yeah. So you're out there. Yeah. Did y'all have beef with Detroit as an Indiana? We hated Detroit. Oh. Well, I hated everybody. To be honest with you. Better said. When I played? We hated Detroit. Oh. I hated everybody.
Starting point is 00:11:45 I'm just saying. Better said. When I played, I didn't like anybody. I love that. Because you know, we probably- Everybody hated. All boxers tell me that, too. Boxers say I hate every other boxer.
Starting point is 00:11:54 You can relate. So look. Yes. You got Mike Chaffee, Raheem Johnson, Lamar Odom. Wow. And they all in front of me. Right. Right?
Starting point is 00:12:02 And a couple of us make it, but- So in order to play against Raheem Johnson, you got to come. Raheem Johnson. I didn't even realize that's what you were saying. You got to come with something. Yeah, yeah. I'm calling Raheem. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:12:13 Keep going. The competitive nature, it came from that. And I'm like, that's the only way I can make it. I can never let it go. Right. You know? But that night in Detroit was crazy. The dude, I ran in the right direction, by the way.
Starting point is 00:12:26 You got to be pretty on point to see somebody hit you in real time and run. Rob Markman, Was it a cup? It was a cup. Rob Markman, While you're laying down on the ground. And I spotted him right away. Rob Markman, Because I felt like it was no racial shit. This is what happened, man. Definitely not racist, man.
Starting point is 00:12:42 The dude raised his hand. That's why I attacked that dude. I'm like, there's no reason for anybody to be cheering and looking at me. So I'm like, you definitely hit me. So he betted the guy, you know what I mean? He definitely hit me. And he betted the dude $50 that he could hit me, that he couldn't hit me with a cup. Right.
Starting point is 00:12:58 So when I ran up, you see the other dude, John Green, just skinny up. Like, oh, this dude will come. Right. He was the one who hit me. It was a $50 bet. You know what I'm saying? And nobody really knowing that, but they don't talk about that a lot. Because they, you know, I lost some bread.
Starting point is 00:13:14 Get out of here. I'm not going to lie. I would have never actually asked you that until you wrote it up. So how does that happen? You're an NBA player. Yeah. You're doing what it had to do. A fan actually pursues you.
Starting point is 00:13:29 Yeah, yeah, yeah. You pursue that, and then they penalize you. People thought I was crazy when I said, are we going to get in trouble? Because I went to the locker room. I'm like, you think we're going to get in trouble? But you know what I mean? Nah, you was definitely getting in trouble.
Starting point is 00:13:43 I'm watching TV. I said, that's some Queensbridge shit. For real. But I loved it. I enjoyed it. I was like that. Because you know why? I'm sorry, Ron.
Starting point is 00:13:51 I'm sorry I'm fucking up the interview. But listen. Nah, you good. You know why? Because I'm looking. I'm like, a lot of the times they think that these NBA players are supposed to change because they got money. But if I'm a real dude and I'm in a real setting,
Starting point is 00:14:08 don't try to put me in some fake shit. And that's real shit. It's real shit. And they try to put you in some fake shit and I've sat back and I looked and I said,
Starting point is 00:14:18 go away. What, you're not supposed to react to that shit? Like, they didn't change regulations after that? I think what happened was it's never been done before. Everybody was shocked.
Starting point is 00:14:27 Right. You know, they had to do something and I took the vote for it. Did they change anything after that though? They did like, so it was- Like that's your civil rights in a sense. Like someone's attacking you to a degree, you know what I'm saying? Absolutely. If you had an office, if you had a show in 90, let's see, 2001.
Starting point is 00:14:43 Right, yeah. And somebody throw a drink on N-O-R-E, it might be a problem, buddy. It's a wrap. It's a wrap. It's a wrap. Yeah. But no one never seen an NBA player do that. Right, right, right.
Starting point is 00:14:56 That was the crazy thing. And again- To me, it was just a fight, honestly. To me, it was a fight. It was a problem. I had a problem with one guy. It had nothing to do with no media. Nobody else. One guy hit me with a couple of but a cup of beer
Starting point is 00:15:07 So let me actually pretty much was he was he saying something prior to the game like no no He got his season tickets up here. Okay, and his name is John Green. That's my man. I be cool now There are you cool? We should have him on your show. I'm bringing Joe Green on the show. Let's go. But go ahead. Subscribe. This is awesome, by the way.
Starting point is 00:15:32 How do you get close afterwards? How does that happen to you? Because, man, I was trying to evolve, man. I didn't want no more. I'm trying to not hold grudges, you know? Right, right, right. My whole career has been crazy. At the point, I got defensive player of the year before that.
Starting point is 00:15:43 And I was average 18. I let all small forwards average six points. So on average, you wasn't getting over six points since you was Kobe, you might have 20, but a scrub is a donut. Rob Markman Right. Rob Markman Right. Rob Markman So next year I'm like- Rob Markman I'm sorry. I'm going to be honest. Let's make some noise for the fuck he just said. I'm going to be honest. As a basketball nigga, when he just said that, I got chills through my body.
Starting point is 00:16:05 I was like, jeez, I'm sorry. You tell me. But that's why when I was going into the game, I'm like, I don't want a motherfucker to score. Right. You know? And so the next year I was averaging 25. Right.
Starting point is 00:16:15 Right before I got suspended, I was trying to get MVP and like, you know, something I always wanted and I had the chance to get it. Right. I probably was going to get it. I finished I probably was gonna get a friend of six an MVP Yeah before that You know and I got said I would have had another defensive player to your trophy another also gay Probably would have got the P might have won the chip like now your whole legacy is like different partners by that And I still might get in cuz I was still one of the best defensive players ever played in the wings
Starting point is 00:16:41 So I know I might get in the Hall of Fame. Don't say one of the best defensive players that ever played in the wings. So I still might get in the Hall of Fame. Don't say one of them. You are one of the best defensive players. If you know what's crazy, I got to always promote myself. Because I can't. Nobody's promoting me on NBA TV. No, no. We going to promote you, too. I got to always remind people, yo, I used to go in. Because I want to get in the Hall of Fame.
Starting point is 00:16:58 Listen, I'm going to be honest. You was the only guy to stop Kobe and then Kobe fuck with you. Like if you stop Kobe, Kobe don't fuck with you after that. Kobe, he don't even want your phone number. He don't want to know your children's birthday. But you stop Kobe and Kobe said, man, I need that nigga to stop
Starting point is 00:17:17 somebody else. And he brung you. To me, that was the one of the most honorable thing in basketball. Because a lot of people, I'm going to stick with Kobe right now. Then I'm going to go to Mike Chatfield because I know a lot of people don't know what you said when you meant that. But let's stick with Kobe. So when he did that, that was the most honorable thing in the world to me.
Starting point is 00:17:41 Because he's like, yo, this is the only guy who stopped me. So if he can stop me, let me bring him on my team. Did you feel like that or no? Yo, I did, man. I was, when this was happening. Okay. I was going through a lot of that. I was 29 years old.
Starting point is 00:17:55 I was going through a lot. I called my agent. I said, listen, I wanted to go to a couple of teams. I want to do what I want to do. So I want to go to either Greece to play ball. So I was 29 in my prime trying to head out. Tell me about it. Tell me about it. Yeah. You wanted to go to Greece? I had three teams I want to do what I want to do. So I want to go to either Greece to play ball. I was 29 in my prime trying to head out. Tell me, tell me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:07 You wanted to go to Greece? I had three teams I wanted to go to. And you was on, what team was on? I was on Houston Rockets at the time. You wanted to go to Greece? Actually, if the Rockets would have signed me, I would have went back. But I wanted to just try, you know, I would have went back. That was the only team I would have went back to because I was there. But then I said, that don't happen. I want to go to Greece. It's the chill, making notes for
Starting point is 00:18:23 a couple years, right? And then Detroit or Indiana. So those are the three teams I was trying to go to. So when we spoke to Detroit, Joe Dumas was the general manager. And they was like, nah, we don't think we want to run our tests here because things are happening. After the fight? After the fight. I thought it would have been dope.
Starting point is 00:18:41 I thought it would have been hard to go play in Detroit. Because Detroit is known for that bad boy persona and Detroit folks to me hard right straight They people could say what they want. I go into Detroit. It's like I'm home Right, you know say the whole Detroit is the hood Everything so and so I get a call I'm at the SLS Ella, you know SLS So I'm at the SLS. I'm with my boys Beverly Hills Yes, sir SLS LA, you know SLS. So I'm at the SLS, I'm with my boys. Beverly Hills. Yes sir, and I'm getting twisted and I get a call from Mitch Kupchak, I get a call from my agent.
Starting point is 00:19:10 My agent say, yo the Lakers want you. I'm like, for what? He said they want to sign you. I'm like, all right fuck it, let's do it. But you and Kobe just had beef. We just had beef, just had beef for like what a month ago. Because I'm not going to lie. I'm going to, let me describe this. At one point when you fouled Kobe, I sent him look at you. Like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:19:32 He looked at you. I don't know what he said, but he was mad. Kobe is from Philly, man. I would tell people, he might be Kobe Bryant, but he from Philly, man. He are. He are. He are. But at that time, how did y'all go from, you know, because you gave him hell, right? Yeah. I've got to big you up because I know you're humble.
Starting point is 00:19:55 But you gave him hell. So how would you go from giving him hell to him actually being like, fuck it, I want that guy on my team? You know what? We respect each other, man. Wow. In practices, it was crazy. Me and Kobe, we going at it. But we had to play on the same team a lot because we had to stay in cohesion.
Starting point is 00:20:12 So we always played on the same team. But when we played against each other, it was just like the game. Those games, practice is probably better in the games. Wow. You know? And Kobe, he in the gym at 5.30 a.m. Working on that jab step. Just relentless.
Starting point is 00:20:26 You know, and he... He opened a bottle of wine for you. He a beast, you know. But we respect each other. You know, I was one of the best defenders. He had a lot of good games against me. I had some good games against him. But he had more good games against me.
Starting point is 00:20:38 Right. You know, I think I was one of the toughest people that he had to, you know, go up against. And that right there is like my trophy. I don't have a lot. I should have had maybe three or four more All-Stars. I should have had maybe two more defensive players of the years and maybe two All-NBA team. I had one All-NBA team.
Starting point is 00:20:55 But I got that type of thing from Kobe. That's a good trophy for me. Something LeBron said when I left the East. LeBron was like, I'm glad, Ron, I tested on the West now. Like, that's something I can hold on to. Like, I appreciate that. That's all. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:21:11 That's all. One of the greatest ever. Yeah, yeah. You know, so I'm grateful for my career, man. I ain't going to lie. Lost a lot of bread in the league, you know. But it was cool. Like, I'm grateful for a lot of things. The American West with Dan Flores is the latest show from the Meat Eater Podcast Network, hosted by me, writer and historian Dan Flores and brought to you by Velvet Buck.

I'll then be joined in conversation by guests such as Western historian Dr. Randall Williams and best-selling author and meat-eater founder Stephen Rinella. I'll correct my kids now and then where they'll say, when cave people were here. And I'll say, it seems like the Ice Age people that were here didn't have a real affinity for caves. So join me starting Tuesday, May 6th, where we'll delve into stories of the West and come to understand how it helps inform the ways in which we experience the region today. Starting point is 00:27:07 to every kid from Queensbridge. Me as a person that's related to Queensbridge. I'm a cousin of Queensbridge. Maybe even a brother. I'm a stepbrother. We don't have the same mother and father. But our family is really related to us. That's what I'm trying to say. All of us,
Starting point is 00:27:27 right? So I just wanted you to know that you are so... When you got to the league, bro, I seen Queensborough that day. You know the draft? You had to draft. Rob Markman You had to draft. Rob Markman But I'm on 12th Street. Rob Markman Oh, you were on 12th Street at that time? Rob Markman I'm on 12th Street. Oh, you were on 12th Street at that time? I'm on 12th Street at that time. And when you get drafted, and I don't think I ever looked at the TV. I just looked at everybody else who was happy for you.
Starting point is 00:27:54 It's crazy. To go to the actual league. And I looked, and I was like, this is life. I actually brought a lot of people from the hood that day. We was burning it down. We had a great time. We had a great time. We had a great time. Well, that day was the day that I realized every hood in the world, they don't hate.
Starting point is 00:28:18 They want to see their people prosper. The hating process comes when you don't do what they expect you to do. And that's when the people start to hate you. But you, I'm not going to lie, like I said earlier, your father was one of the most brilliant people I ever seen. I would go to Queensbridge because in left rack, our nickels, nickels are crack, cocaine. To be clear.
Starting point is 00:28:52 But I could go to Queensbridge and I could buy a dime and this shit is like 20s of ours. So I used to love just being in Queens. I was a creep as a gold mine. But they didn't look at it like that. It was a gold mine. They didn't look at it like that because they just was, you know, this is their hood. So I'm looking. Everybody was getting money. I'm like, oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:29:14 So they didn't understand that. But it was one day. It was raining. Or maybe it was snowing. And I was just in front of 41-12, 12th Street, and I just kept hearing a ball bouncing or something. And I wanted to look, and it was his pops just passing the ball. And I looked and I said, I was like, oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:29:43 Then I said, this nigga's going to be rich. Because he's going to endure that. And I knew that's what your pops was doing. I'll kid you not, I never even told you this story. I actually just watched this story and I was just like, oh. I mean, I watched, not the story, excuse me. I watched the actual scene and I looked and I was just like, wow. What's the age difference though that you would see him as a kid?
Starting point is 00:30:06 Well, I'm 40. I'll be 41. I'm 38. But when you're younger, the age difference is way bigger. And I'm just looking because his father was one of the strongest black men I ever met. I'm just being honest. Strong. He was a good boy.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Rob Markman He's tough, but he making sure. He like, yo, y'all niggas good? Nori, sure, I know what your niggas did last night. You know what I'm saying? I'm like, hope. I love, he was a father figure for me. Rob Markman He was batshit crazy, man. I'm telling you.
Starting point is 00:30:43 Good damage. Rob Markman I got This dude, if he saw somebody getting beat up, he steps in the middle of the fight. Oh no, he jumping in. I'm like, dad, what are you doing? He jumping in. That's his city, that's his town. I see him save people's lives.
Starting point is 00:30:58 But he was definitely good people. It's like... But you know what's crazy? When I made it to the NBA, I wanted to be like Nas, CNN, Mobb D. You know, I always,
Starting point is 00:31:09 you know, because Capone, my third cousin, so we all, I always tell people, yeah, Capone, that's my family.
Starting point is 00:31:16 Listen, I'm not going to lie, 12th Street, let me break it down. Let me break it down for people who don't, who've never been to Queensbridge,
Starting point is 00:31:21 right? Because you're going to break it down like a Queensbridge guy. I kid you not. So let me break it down for people who've never been to Queensbridge, right? Because you're going to break it down like a Queensbridge guy. And I kid you not. So let me break it down for people who've never been to Queensbridge. If you walk on 12th Street
Starting point is 00:31:29 from the 59th Street Bridge, when you walk on the left side, all right, you bump into Ty Nitti. Then you bump into Capone. And then you bump into Ron. All Ron's pops. All Ron's brothers because they're all stars, right? And then you bump into Ron or Ron's pops or Ron's brother because they all stars.
Starting point is 00:31:46 Right? And then you bump into Havoc. This is... It was insane. And then you bump into you when you come out there. I ain't going to lie. Then you bump into me.
Starting point is 00:31:54 Because I'll be out there. I love 12th Street. Listen, this is... I can say that you're anywhere from... Hold on. We just had this conversation where you said New York people, you motherfuckers are too crazy.
Starting point is 00:32:09 You want to break down the block. You want to break down the street. You want to do that. Now, if I was to say I have half my ties from Queensbridge, guess what I would say? I would say, yeah, I got half my ties from Queensbridge. You say, well, what part of Queensbridge? You're breaking it down. I would say, boom.
Starting point is 00:32:24 I would say, duh. I would say, that side. You say, well, what part of Queensbridge? You're breaking it down. I would say, boom. I would say, duh. I would say, that side. You say, well, what side of that side? I would say 12th Street. Well, 12th Street is where I rap because of that. But I think this man, prior to who, and I'm so proud of you, brother. I don't know if I ever told you that, but I to say it again I want to reiterate how proud of you but you don't know how inspiring you was to me
Starting point is 00:32:52 you we'll get there later but I used to see his father training and I want an inspired me to be a better father if I me to um want to be a better father. Want to be, like, you know, I sit down, but your father had to be the realest nigga in Queensbridge. To me. To me. People mess with my father in Queensbridge because he went to work, you know, and he came home, and that was it. And he was working hard.
Starting point is 00:33:21 But he lost his city job because he was putting too much overtime on his check. So that killed us. When that happened, you know, then they separated. And that killed us because he couldn't work for the city no more. You know what I mean? But, yeah, other than that, like, he tried his hardest, man. And he out there right now. I just left New York, you know, and he's out there working with the kids, you know, with more kids.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Before, it was just me, you know? And now he's working with all the kids. God bless you, Pops. Yeah. And your name? Like, is it Ron Artest? No, it's the Artest Foundation. There you go.
Starting point is 00:33:53 But he did it. It's his, you know, his, what is it, 501c3. I'm proud of him. Beautiful. Helping the kids. So now, I just want to tell you a story real quick. I'm in Jamaica one time, right? So as I'm in Jamaica.
Starting point is 00:34:09 No. Not in Jamaica the country? No, Jamaica the island, right? So I'm in Jamaica, right? And I'm walking through the shit, and 112 is just there playing basketball. So I'm like, what the fuck? Oh, I've heard this story. I've actually seen you talking to them about this shit.
Starting point is 00:34:22 I'm like, yo, 112, give me the fucking basketball. I'm from Lafrak. I'm on the beat. We nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Nobody in Oregon plays. So I got the ball. I'm like, but I got on slippers.
Starting point is 00:34:35 So 112 actually kind of. The R&B group on 112. They kind of actually crack me, right? So I take the ball, and I kick that shit so far so recently you're so recently watching the victory and you just kicked the y'all yeah yeah I had to do it you know why I did it okay tell us man for what's the queen shit to the absolutely absolutely absolutely but tell us what happened though. For one, they don't know the rules yet.
Starting point is 00:35:09 You can get away with kicking the ball, because nobody ever kicked the ball before. Right, right, right. When they go and do the- They get the rules as it goes. You're helping them out. I just wanted to get it out the way real quick. The game is too rough, man. The game is rough.
Starting point is 00:35:23 I'm 38 and I don't want to play rough no rough, man. The game is rough. I'm like, I'm 38, you know, and I don't want to play rough no more, man. Y'all got to clean this game up. And you know we're being rough, so they start with you rough first. And we in Detroit. Right. So I'm like, I'm not about the game in a scuffle. You kicked the ball in Detroit again? I kicked it so I can get out of the game.
Starting point is 00:35:41 But how about you in Detroit? I was trying to get out of the game. That's a man. I was trying to get out of this, too. It was would you in Detroit. I was trying to get out the game. That's a matter of fact. I was trying to get out of this too. It was too aggressive, man. Al Harrington, this is what happened. Al Harrington pushed Steve Jackson out of bounds. And the ref didn't call fast.
Starting point is 00:35:49 I said, I'm not about to be a part of this. I'm out of here. Let me get that ball, ref. Ejected? No, no problem. I'm out of here. I ain't playing this game. You got ejected.
Starting point is 00:35:57 Got ejected. And my boy Al Harrington, he was on the opposite team. That's my man. I'm not about to be getting in a scuffle with my man. I'm not about to be getting in a scuffle with my man. I'm not about to be getting in a scuffle with my man. I'm not about to be getting in a scuffle with my man. I'm not about to be getting in a scuffle with my man. I'm not about to be getting in a scuffle with my man. I'm not about to be getting in a scuffle with my man. I'm not about to be getting in a scuffle with my man. I got ejected. And my boy Al Harrington, he was on the opposite team.
Starting point is 00:36:06 That's my man. I'm not about to begin a scuffle with my man on the court. I'm out of here. But the league is dope. He's playing tomorrow, correct? He'll play tomorrow in Miami. Big up to Ice Cube, man. Big up to Ice Cube.
Starting point is 00:36:20 LL's involved. Killer Threes. Yeah, Killer Threes. Yeah, that's the team. So describe this to us. How did you even make this deal? Ice Cube called you? So, last year I was going to play.
Starting point is 00:36:34 On the Big 3? The Big 3. But I was working on my... I got a digital marketing company. So, it takes all my time off. Talk that rich shit. Go ahead. Thanks for the. Rob Markman, the digital marketing nigga. Rob Markman, the digital marketing nigga. So it's taken up all my time, so I couldn't play, but when I've heard Ice Cube on TV talking about, we need Kobe, we need LeBron, I'm like, then you don't really want me. Rob Markman, the digital marketing nigga.
Starting point is 00:37:04 So I said, I'm not even going to play, but he hit me up personally Wow when he had me a person I'm like, yeah, I'm gone Personally, okay, but I do I would like for you to play blah blah blah I said no doubt because I had a conversation go down. Did he say nigga this ice cube with today's Super professional you know, it's cute right now Ice Cube and today's a good day. Yeah. Like how does this... Yeah. Ice Cube is super professional, yo. Ice Cube right now... I ain't going to lie, he paid me for a verse, but I wanted to hear your story.
Starting point is 00:37:30 Yeah. Ice Cube is super professional. He's... Cube vision right now, bro. He's a hell of a general manager. He's a... I'm going to be honest. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:37:39 Sorry to cut you off. Yeah. Please make sure that I get back to what we were saying. Yeah. But the nigga still rolls in a limo. Let's respect this nigga. No, he be, he be, he be. You know what I mean, baby?
Starting point is 00:37:49 The nigga, yo, EFM, and I'm on the line. When he came to our joint, he came in a limo. You know what I mean? I wasn't downstairs, though. That nigga had a limo. People still ride limos? No, not people. Him.
Starting point is 00:38:00 Yeah, he's on a limo. In Atlanta. In Atlanta, he came in a limo. In Atlanta. The nigga said, I said, yo, Nori, I was downstairs. He said, yeah, just waiting for the limo. I said, oh. I thought he was.
Starting point is 00:38:10 I thought he was talking about the limo. I thought he was lingo for the Maybach. So I'm like, all right, cool. I get it. And then I'm like, oh. I said, this nigga Cube is in time vision. Yo, he's killing it. No, but he getting a lot of money.
Starting point is 00:38:24 God damn it. Well, he spent a lot of his own money last year, but he going to make that money back. Right. Because when you start a business, you're always going to be in the red, and he about to be in the black. Wow. He's a visionary.
Starting point is 00:38:36 Cube is a visionary. He's going to sell you. Now, they just fucking with that big three. They like it, huh? People like it, huh? Yeah. So he called you, and then? He called me and was like, hey, I want you to play. I said, no doubt. And then he was like, can you go back to our test? I think it'll be cool. I was like, yeah huh? Yeah. So he called you, and then? He called me and was like, hey, I want you to play.
Starting point is 00:38:45 I said, no doubt. And then he was like, can you go back to our test? I think it'll be cool. I was like, yeah, no problem. I'll go back to our test. But then my people called him and said, why are you trying to exploit Metal World Peace? I'm like, he just, this is Cube. He want our test.
Starting point is 00:38:57 He going to get our test. But we wasn't going to do that. I wanted it, but then my partner was like, don't do it. I said, all right, whatever. But Cube was great. Everybody's on group chat. So he had group chat us the rules, group chat us any problems. Every team got their own group chat.
Starting point is 00:39:11 You could talk to him and give your input. So he's better than David Stern. David Stern, my man. Yeah. But he's going to be a hell of a general manager. And maybe the NBA might buy it. Wow. Maybe they buy it.
Starting point is 00:39:28 Why not? I would. I would. How would that look, though, as a business model? Just when your players are done, just go to the big three. And you have a bigger audience anyway. Sometimes your players don't got to be done. But sometimes your players don't got to be done.
Starting point is 00:39:42 Maybe this is somebody who's come from high school or college, and they don't want to apply to the NBA. Maybe you don't want to play in the NBA, too. Maybe you want to smoke weed. Exactly. That's one of the next questions. That's one of the next questions, because we have Matt Barnes on here. Remember, we had Matt Barnes on here.
Starting point is 00:39:58 And I passed Matt Barnes the blunt. Did he burn it down? He burned it down. He burned it down. Matt burned it down. On camera. On camera. He burned it down? He burned it down. He burned it down. He burned it down. On camera. On camera. He burned it down.
Starting point is 00:40:07 And then, but see, I didn't want him to snitch on other people. And he didn't want to snitch on other people. So I said, yo, do people burn in the NBA? He said, yeah, listen, Norrie, every day I was in the NBA, we burned it down. But I said, don't y'all the y'alls the y'alls. You know what I mean? Because we can't have that. Because some of these people still getting money. And why is it in the NBA that there's people who are in Colorado, Denver, where this is legal, right?
Starting point is 00:40:36 Right, right. Los Angeles. But they say that even if you played for the Lakers, you can't have the same. Yeah. Why is that? The Lakers, the NBA operates by federal. It's a national league. Yeah, they operate by federal.
Starting point is 00:40:53 So it's a federal thing. They operate by federal. And you're talking about states' rights. Wow, I never knew that. Hold on. You hit me on it. Federal? Yeah, so whatever the federal.
Starting point is 00:41:02 The feds is coming? The whole country needs to make it legal. Yeah, the whole country has to make it legal. For the NBA to be- And the NBA still might not make it legal. Even if it- But the thing is, there's like so many people went to jail for marijuana, man. Back in the day, cops kept me putting down the marijuana.
Starting point is 00:41:16 Like, it's from the earth, man. That's why they don't want to make it legal, because they're going to have to retract all that crazy shit they've been doing. Yeah, it's not right. I think it's good. You know, I burned it down a lot in my younger days. I ain't going to lie to you. I was every day. Goddamn it.
Starting point is 00:41:30 You know what I'm saying? And, you know, you shouldn't be running for your life for smoking a blunt. Definitely not. You know what I'm saying? So I'm for it. Ice Cube pioneered it. And on the flip side, if you're playing a game, you shouldn't be smoking weed before the game. Good.
Starting point is 00:41:48 You know, if you're an adult, whatever, you're playing the NBA, don't smoke weed before the game. Get it out your system, you know, and do it in moderation, you know, but you shouldn't be, like, worried about your life or smoking some weed. Smells good, by the way, too. What kind is it? This is Gorilla Guru. It's fantastic. Shout out to Gorilla. But now, coming from Queens, it was in my opinion, Raheem Johnson.
Starting point is 00:42:15 The best. You and Lamar Odom. Chatfield. Chatfield beat me and Raheem. Okay, we're going to get to that because Chatfield, that was so legendary when you said that. He's an amazing player. ESPN. Okay.

Starting point is 00:45:05 So, Lamar Odom. What's the... Did the Kardashians fuck him up? Just say it, man. I was like that. Did the Kardashians fuck him up? Is that what we're going to talk about? He was a queen.
Starting point is 00:45:20 I've seen him in left, right. He was running around. He had on a motherfucking... I don't know. What the... He had on a cool jersey. And then out of that, he's different now. You got to think about it. Lamar, there's a lot of things that go on with Lamar Odom, like my good friend.
Starting point is 00:45:34 Right. His mom. But at one point, you said it was the Kardashians. The reason I said it was the Kardashians, because he was on his deathbed. I'm being honest. But you were the first nigga that said the Kardashians the downfall to every black man not to you said that everybody rides with you now. Everybody says the same thing, that if you go to the Kardashians, your blackness leaves. I didn't say that.
Starting point is 00:46:10 No, I mean. But people say it. People say it. People say it. We know people say it. Well, there's a lot of coincidences going down. But it's the thing. Easy to say that.
Starting point is 00:46:17 Yeah. Let's let them talk. No, but, you know, so with Lamar, before that happened with Lamar, I was talking to Chris a lot. She texted me back. We talked. The Chris guy that was from who? Chris Jenner. Oh, Chris Jenner.
Starting point is 00:46:33 Oh, the lady. Okay. Big boy. Big boy. Momager. Okay. I thought you meant the guy, the basketball player. Oh, I forget his name.
Starting point is 00:46:40 Yeah. Oh, Chris Humphries. Chris Humphries. Everybody does. But you know what? When Lamar was on his deathbed, you know what I'm i was like i panicked i blamed everybody wow and i said you know so and i said something i shouldn't say because chloe had chloe held lamar down like but what did you exactly say i apologize i was just like the kardashians messing my boy up basically i
Starting point is 00:47:00 said that but um it was it wasn't quite quite accurate. Because Khloe was in the hospital every day. Khloe was talking to me, also making sure I see Lamar. So shout out to Khloe. But let's clarify that statement. Why did you even make that? How did you feel at that time? I felt like... A lot of distress, you said it.
Starting point is 00:47:21 I felt like it was too much pressure. When you're with the Kardashians, you're in a network, basically. And everything is live, and you always got to be on your A-game. And I feel like it was too much pressure for my boy. Coming from Queens, he out there. And every time he come outside, it's a camera in his face. It is, but it wasn't their fault. His dad, Lamar's dad was, I mean, Lamar's mom or dad was on drugs.
Starting point is 00:47:44 His dad. Which is his dad. He spoke about that. Right. So you got to see where he came from. The stuff he was doing was stuff that he's seen. His best friend passed away, too. People think Lamar went crazy, but Lamar and his best friend passed away.
Starting point is 00:47:53 David, yeah. But what made you, I'm sorry, what made you change your mind, though? The reason I changed my mind was I spoke to Khloe. Wait, she called you after that? I was trying to get to Lamar, and it was hard to get to him. Everybody trying to get to Lamar to see how he's doing. Ah. Khloe was the only way you can get to Lamar. It was hard to get to him. Everybody trying to get to Lamar to see how he doing. Chloe was the only way you can get in.
Starting point is 00:48:07 Wow. And she answering the phone personally. To everybody. Lamar's phone? Her phone. Okay. Her phone. Okay, and you called her?
Starting point is 00:48:16 And then I'm like, yo, can I see Lamar? And she's making sure we good. Chloe's a real chick. What'd you say? You said she's making sure we good. Making sure we good. Making sure we getting in. Making sure the doctor's letting us see Lamar. Rob Markman, Not a lot of people have the chance to-
Starting point is 00:48:27 Rob Markman, This is after you said what you said? Rob Markman, This is after I said what I said. Rob Markman, Yeah, after I said what I said. Rob Markman, Yeah. Got to give it up for that. Rob Markman, I didn't say nothing that bad, but shout out to Khloe. Rob Markman, No, you didn't. Rob Markman, You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:48:45 Let me just tell you something. I just bigged up Kim Kardashian. It went over a lot of people's heads because a lot of people, they criticize these women for getting plastic surgery, whatever the fuck they do. It gives a fuck. I like these women because they fuck up black niggas. I respect that. I respect that. I respect that.
Starting point is 00:49:05 So I'm going to big it up whatever the fuck they doing, right? I like the way that Kim freed the black lady. I don't even know this lady's name. She helped free the nigga. She went and met with Trump and she freed the nigga, the chick. Excuse me. And motherfucking Koli Gardner. That's her.
Starting point is 00:49:27 She held Lamar Odom down. You know how they met, right? And we didn't know that. No, that's dope. We didn't know. That's dope. I was there without the way you explained it. A lot of people don't know that.
Starting point is 00:49:37 A lot of people don't know that. And Koli, they met at my party. I got to LA. Whoa, whoa, whoa. They met at your party? They met at my party. Whoa, whoa, whoa. You can't say that just like that. They met at my party. Wait, what happened. Whoa, whoa, whoa. They met at your party? They met at my party. Whoa, whoa, whoa. You can't say that just like that.
Starting point is 00:49:46 They met at my party. Wait, what happened? What happened? So you set this up? I was coming to LA. I ain't set it up. You need 20% of the marriage. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:49:52 Yeah, I said it right. I was coming to LA and then I had a party. And then my man was like, yo, you should get Chloe. Because Chloe was hosting parties at that time. And she was building her persona and her brand. So she hosted a party with me and Chloe. And then Lamar came to the party. I'm like, yo, my dude, what up?
Starting point is 00:50:08 And then I was sitting with Khloe for a little bit and saying to myself, thank you for coming to my party. I really appreciate you. She brought a lot of people out. And I went back to my table and to Lamar, and they hooked up right there. Seven days later, we was at a wedding. Wow. It's crazy. Seven days later, we was at a wedding.
Starting point is 00:50:23 I'm like, yo, my dude. What's up, my dude? They fell in deep love quick. They fell in love. Tell me, I'm on Queens. You can't say that. You can't talk like that. So you're telling me. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:34 I had no idea. I've never heard of this. So you're saying they met at your party and seven days later they was getting married? Seven days later they got married.
Starting point is 00:50:42 Seven days later. Oh, I've never heard of this. Yeah, like we were like after the wedding. It was at the wedding. And you at the wedding and what you saying to yourself? Like, wow.
Starting point is 00:50:52 The wedding was amazing. We had a nice house. It's amazing. I was like, you got your prenup, right? You good? Oh, you asked him that? I asked him that.
Starting point is 00:51:05 I snuck it in there. I was like, yo, got to put it on. Because they're not exactly lit at that time. At that time, Chloe was on the way. Kim is already good. Kim is lit. Yeah, Kim is good, but that's the sex kick. And the genocide is good, too. Sex kick.
Starting point is 00:51:18 Genocide is good. Who's genocide? The gender side. The genders. Oh, the genders side. The genders. They all good. Yeah. But Chloe's not on her own now. She's on her own. Oh, the gender side. The gender. They all good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:26 But Chloe's not on her own now. She's on her own. She do what she want. Now the whole family is good. Right now. The whole family is good. Yeah, yeah. Now, would you ever do some shit like that?
Starting point is 00:51:36 Like... Hey, let me tell you something. Honestly, fall in love or date a celebrity? What do you think? What do you think? Date a celebrity. I don't... No.
Starting point is 00:51:44 Right now, my girl is amazing right now, but. No, I'm just saying. I'm just saying. Let's suppose you didn't date your girl. No. Hypothetically. I never did. You would not fuck a celebrity?
Starting point is 00:51:53 Not because I just didn't want to be in the paper. You don't want to be in the paper. Then I got to be holy. Then I got to be taking pictures. I want to dress regular. All right. You know, I don't want to be on that shit. All right.
Starting point is 00:52:03 I never dated a celebrity in my life. Wow. Yeah, I can't do that shit. Yeah, but it's hard. It's hard. I don't want to be on that shit. I've never dated a celebrity in my life. I can't do that shit. Yeah, but it's hard. I'm not against female celebrities. Right. I had my chances. I had some real, what do you call it, flattering opportunities, but I didn't take advantage of them.
Starting point is 00:52:20 Mariah Carey tried to take you down some? No, no, no. I had several trials. I just tried. I'm a left-racker. I just throw something out there. So now, go through the league, do what you got to do, play it against Kobe Bryant. Have you ever played against Jordan? I played against Jordan. Oh. I played against Jordan.. Have you ever played against Jordan? I played against Jordan.
Starting point is 00:52:46 I played against Jordan. Jordan was nice at 38. I played against him. He wasn't on the Wizards. I played against Jordan on the Wizards. He was on the Wizards? Yeah. I played against Jordan.
Starting point is 00:52:57 And he was killing. He had 25 that year. On that day? That year, he averaged 25. Came back. That year? The whole year, he averaged 25. I'll tell you a story with Jordan. I'm going to tell you a Queen story with Jordan. Okay, please. Let's go. That day? That year he averaged 25. Came back- That year? The whole year he averaged 25?
Starting point is 00:53:05 I'll tell you a story with Jordan. I'm going to tell you a Queens story with Jordan. Okay, please, let's go. So we in the summertime, playing at Hoops Gym, R. Kelly's summertime gym, and a lot of NBA players were there. There was no kids there, correct? It was LeBron- Wow, dog.
Starting point is 00:53:16 Wow, wow. Hey. I came from the alley. I came from the alley. I came from the alley. I came from the alley. I came from the alley. I came from the alley.
Starting point is 00:53:24 I came from the alley. I came from the alley. I came from the alley. I came from the alley. I came from the alley. That was easy. That was a joke. It was a joke. But LeBron James is a 15 year old LeBron James playing with me, Michael Finley, Jerry Stackhouse, Antoine Walker, we all in our primes. They in their primes. I'm young. And LeBron James is there.
Starting point is 00:53:41 So Jordan's killing everybody. And then one game I break Jordan's ribs by mistake. Right? It wasn't on purpose. By mistake, we was going hard. Jordan's crazy. Nari, get it off your chest. Get it off your chest.
Starting point is 00:53:56 Get it off your chest. I said it mad nonchalant. Like, yeah, I broke Jordan's ribs. Like, ribs? What? By mistake. How, I broke Jordan's ribs. What? By mistake. How did you break? By mistake. By mistake. Ron, you my nigga.
Starting point is 00:54:12 I'm from 12th Street as well. In my mind. How did you break his ribs by mistake? I don't like to understand. So this is what happened. When you let Jordan get the ball, you know it's a wrap. You know it's a wrap. So in my mind, I cannot let him get the ball.
Starting point is 00:54:24 He killing us. So I'm trying a wrap. So my mind cannot let him get the ball. He's killing us. So I'm trying to deny. He kept holding me back. I'm like, I'm not going to let you keep denying me because I'm losing every single game. So I try to move his arm out of the way and I deny him. So it's referees in the pickup ball. So they call offensive foul on Jordan. And then I see Jordan go like this.
Starting point is 00:54:40 So when I move his arm, I elbow him in the ribs. He holds his ribs like this. They call offensive foul. He's like this. So when I moved his arm, I elbowed him in the ribs. He hold his ribs like this, right? No, they call offensive foul. He's like this. We have to call offensive foul. He pissed, right? So we come back down the other way. We score.
Starting point is 00:54:56 He come back down. He got the ball like this. I think it's about 6-6. That's the game. Game seven. Free throw line, Jordan jumper. Hit the game winner. Walk off like that. With 7. Free throw line, Jordan jumper. Hit the game winner. Walk off like that.
Starting point is 00:55:07 With the rib broken. Wait, you literally broke his rib? I found out the next day. I thought it was a turn that you just like, you shook him and shit. By mistake. By mistake. I love Jordan. I love Jordan.
Starting point is 00:55:17 I love Jordan. You fucked up for that one, man. Love Jordan. Love Jordan. We all like Jordan. I'm not going to lie. I'm going to be honest with you Ron. I called you Ron, right? Please, I'm sorry. Ron Piretta, Jr.: Everybody called me Ron.
Starting point is 00:55:34 Ron Piretta, Jr.: Ron, Ron, give me my money. That was gross. Ron Piretta, Jr.: He was like, I ain't calling you matter. The little kid's like, more please. Ron Piretta, Jr.: But I'm going to be honest with you. You made the hood proud and. You made the hood proud. And you're still making the hood proud. Just in case you don't know that, every little kid in Queensbridge, on 12th Street, on Vernon, on 10th Street, on the Hill, on the Reese, in Zoe's Place, wherever they at, they look
Starting point is 00:56:00 and they look at you and they say, if Ron can do it, we can do it. Because how you did it and how you stayed, Ron can do it, we can do it. Because how you did it and how you stayed, a lot of people change after they make it. You made it and you stayed the same. And I just want you to know that people appreciate that. And I'm one of the people that appreciate it. And you got to be saluted. Thank you. I appreciate it. Every second time. Thank you, man.
Starting point is 00:56:24 Every second time for that. So. I got a be saluting. Thank you. I appreciate it. Every second time for that. So. I got a story for you. Okay. I got a story for you. When he shot the police? Let's just relax. I was about to tell him that.
Starting point is 00:56:38 Let's go. I was about to go. So anyway, you recall while he, I asked Paul, I said, hey, can I talk about this? Right. Because I didn't know defamation or whatever it's called. Yeah, I said, hey, can I talk about this? Right. Because I didn't know defamation or whatever it's called. Yeah, no, it's done. Seven years. It's done, it's done, it's done.
Starting point is 00:56:50 And he went to jail. That's your limitation. Yeah, yeah, I asked him. Let's go. So I'm a little nigga on the block, coming home from somewhere. It's dark. And I see Pone running. Everybody outside, you know, he used to be popping in the hood.
Starting point is 00:57:03 He still is. He still is, still popping. Not like he used to be, though. Not like he used to, you know, he used to be popping in the hood. It still is. It still is. It's still popping. Not like it used to be though. Not like it used to be. Not like it used to be. So everybody outside, Popo outside, I see Pone running. I knew it was him because I knew he was running.
Starting point is 00:57:16 I played with Pone. When I was young, Pone had 63 in the All-Star game. I'm not going to lie. Pone was a left-handed nigga. He's kind of nice in ball. Pone nice. He's kind of nice and ball. Pone is nice. He's kind of nice and ball. Pone, I seen him give niggas 60 and all a second.
Starting point is 00:57:29 I can't, if she's nigga was nice. Let's make some noise for seeing your nigga got you. Continue to bring up CNN legacy. Continue. I was on his team, you know. I was doing dirty work. But he, yeah, then he, boom, boom, with the left. So I a young nigga, and I'm like, I've never experienced this type of shit. So I'm like, all right, what happens now?
Starting point is 00:57:50 Does he go to jail? Like, what? And then, like, yeah, then, boom. That shit was crazy. I was wondering, where were you at? Like, what happened? Y'all was, y'all was. No, that's how we met.
Starting point is 00:57:59 That was like, that's how y'all met? Yeah, after he shot the police. You met in jail. From that. We met from there. Oh, okay, okay. I always. You met in jail from that? We met from there. Oh, okay, okay. I always wanted to hear that story. Yeah, we met from there and then I came home.
Starting point is 00:58:10 Yeah, I was in the lounge. And then 12th Street was my block too. It's real shit. Yeah. What'd you say, Whispy Thug? No, I said 12th Street was my block too because what happened was me and Pone was like best friends in jail, right? Right.
Starting point is 00:58:24 But a lot of people who don't know is you go see a boy and Poem sees the boy and me and Poem see the boy together and he got paroled and I didn't. So you love your homie, you're like, man, nigga, you going home, nigga. Fucking fantastic. But in your mind, you're like, nigga, fuck you you going home, nigga. Fucking fantastic. But in your mind, you're like, nigga, fuck you, nigga. I'm still here. I'm still here, yo.
Starting point is 00:58:51 So that's what happened. So what happened was, Poem was so happy. Like, we didn't exchange numbers or none of that. So we were, I'm talking about, we two years together straight. But he said, nigga, I'm going to, I'm going to. Yeah, I respect that. I'm out. But in my mind, I'm like, nigga, I'm on. Yeah, I respect that. I'm on. But in my mind, I'm like, nigga, we should wait like another two or three months.
Starting point is 00:59:10 I didn't say that to him. But in my mind, that's what I thought. So when he come home, I don't know. I just go to Queensbridge. LJ. I don't know if you remember LJ? It depends. I got it.
Starting point is 00:59:22 LJ from Capone's building in the lobby. I think Fuji. Okay, Fuji. It had something to do with Fuji. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, well, LJ, when I came home, LJ, I went to IS-125. You know IS-125? Okay, you went to IS-125, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:39 I'm a freak, Richard. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You went to IS-125? I went to IS-125. I got chased out of IS-125, man. From Puerto Ricans? Yeah, like Dominicans. Dominicans, Richie. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You went to 125? I went to IAS 125. I got chased out of 125, man. From Puerto Ricans? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:47 Like Dominicans. Dominicans, Dominicans. T87. I'm Latino. I was good. You know why I got chased out of there? Because my brother Wally. What the fuck?
Starting point is 00:59:57 Wally had beef. Wally had beef. I looked like Wally at that age. We looked the same. They all looked like Wally. They all do look like, okay. And they chased me out the school. I had a fight. Wally had beef. I looked like Wally at that age. We looked the same. They did all the Wally's. Okay. And they chased me out the school.
Starting point is 01:00:05 I had a fight. I'm like, yo, I'm fighting like a bunch of motherfuckers. Then I go back to the principal. I'm like, yo, these motherfuckers trying to fight me. He's like, all right, school's over. I ain't going home right now. I'm waiting till five. So I'll wait till five o'clock.
Starting point is 01:00:18 I ain't never go back to 125 again. I'm not going to lie. I ain't never go back to 125. Seven line. You should take the seven train to get there. Take the seven to 125. God damn it. This is, all right, it's 125, man. I'm going going to lie. I ain't no going back to that. 7 line. You should take the 7 train to get there. God damn it. This is IS-125, man.
Starting point is 01:00:26 I'm going to be honest. That's when I knew I was Latino privileged. Oh yeah. A lot of my black friends grew up. At the school, they gone. Yeah, we out. And I'm like, oh shit. And then the Latinos, I'm like, go get it.
Starting point is 01:00:34 Go get it. I'm like, oh yeah. I'm the only black nigga on the train. I'm going to make y'all laugh. I'm going to make y'all laugh. I'm going to make y'all laugh. I'm going to make y'all laugh. I'm going to make y'all laugh.
Starting point is 01:00:42 I'm going to make y'all laugh. I'm going to make y'all laugh. I'm going to make y'all laugh. I'm going to make y'all laugh. I'm going to make y'all laugh. I'm going to make y'all laugh. I'm the only black nigga on the train. I got my job. That's when I knew. I said, I got a little bit of Latino privilege. You know what I mean? They were putting their work over there, Woodside.
Starting point is 01:00:59 No, but it's real. So did you go to 204 as well? I went to 204 after 125 because I was waiting to go to school. I was out of school. I wasn't trying to go back to 125. And I was trying to play ball at 125. So then I waited and went to 204. Wow.
Starting point is 01:01:14 And then somebody discovered me and gave me a scholarship to high school. It was a Catholic school. I was like, oh, okay, cool. I'll take it. Bishop? To LaSalle Academy. Oh. LaSalle Academy.
Starting point is 01:01:24 LaSalle Academy. Word. Oh, okay. Now, Dream Champ Sports, you ready? Yeah, I, cool. I'll take it. Bishop, Bishop. Tell us how to get to me. Oh. South Academy, what? Oh, okay. Now, Dream Champ Sports, you ready? Yeah, I'm ready. I'm ready. What's going on, man? My name is Paul.
Starting point is 01:01:31 Yo, my girl. I got to give you love. I got to give you love. This is Dream Champ Sports. I know myself. I know myself. I'm Dream Champ Sports. This is Paul.
Starting point is 01:01:37 Whenever there's Dream Champ. Yo, Fahed, what are you doing? What are you doing? Come over here, man. No, no, no. Come here, man. Fuck the cigarettes, nigga. Come over here, nigga. Come over here. Listen. Come here, man. Fuck the cigarettes, nigga. Come over here, nigga.
Starting point is 01:01:45 Come over here. Listen, I'm sorry to stop the podcast in the middle. In the middle of my introduction. There's not a lot of people. I'm sorry, sir. There's not a lot of people who deserve to be here. But this is my brother. He just came home.
Starting point is 01:01:58 I don't know. I ain't going to lie. I'm about to say, I don't know how many years this nigga been locked up. This nigga been locked up since I was eight. I'm going to be honest, my nigga, and I love you. And likewise, brother. I'm going to give you a big hug in front of everybody. He might have been seven when I got locked up, though.
Starting point is 01:02:16 I said eight? Yeah, you said eight. My bad. But, man, welcome home again, my nigga. God damn it. Stay home. Stay home. You got position, man. But get ahead. I'm sorry, boy. Well, like I said, you can get on it, too home again. God damn it. Stay home.
Starting point is 01:02:25 You got position, man. But go ahead. I'm sorry, Paul. Well, like I said, you can get on it too. Absolutely. My podcast, Dream Big Hip Hop. Dream Big. I'm shouting out with Dream Champs. My angle is being the athletes and entrepreneurs and the good stories and the bad stories.
Starting point is 01:02:40 Absolutely. Absolutely. So you're saying right on time. What I like to say is as far as your Dream big moment, Norrie done spoke on it already. Your father bringing you into that. That's what I'm saying personally. Rob Markman, I'm being honest. That's hard.
Starting point is 01:02:52 Nobody can take that away from you or can imitate that. So when did you know? You just been saying you was getting chased out the IS-25. Yeah. Rob Markman, But was you 6'9 getting chased out IS-25? I was young. I was 13. I was 6 But was you 6'9 getting chased out of Ice-20? No, I was young. I was 13. I was 6'... maybe 6'1.
Starting point is 01:03:06 No, I probably wasn't 6'1 at that time. And you always knew that you was ready. Your pops was setting the stage for you. You knew you was going to take it. No, absolutely not. I didn't know I was going to the league until I was in 10th grade. When I was in 10th grade, I was like, oh, I might have a shot. At that point in 10th grade, you knew you was going to the league? No, I thought I'd have a shot at that point in 10th grade you knew you was going to
Starting point is 01:03:25 no I thought I have a shot I'm going to say this and I got to take a piss I'm there with you too we was drinking beer all night first time I seen them training I don't know what age you were
Starting point is 01:03:35 but I walked through and now let's do the calculations right because my first album came out in 1997 which means that I had to kind of record it in 96
Starting point is 01:03:49 right in order for it because this is so this is what i'm trying to say so let's just say 96 probably or maybe or 97 right because it could have been the beginning of 97 yeah yeah and the minute i seen how his father because his father, he really cared about you. He wasn't, it wasn't like torture. It makes sense. It makes sense. It wasn't like torture, but it was like, I remember when- He was militant about it.
Starting point is 01:04:15 Rain came down. Rain. Actually, rain came down. And I was like, oh, I'm going to kill him. Because I knew Queensbury's niggas were scared of rain. Everybody left. That was scary. For real. I had the rain skins, Fah.
Starting point is 01:04:29 Fah, you remember the rain skins? I had the Colombian joint. I had multiple choices. I had the Colombian joint and I had the rain skins. But I looked and I said, yo, none of y'all niggas from Queensbridge got rain skins? And them niggas, they would leave when the rain came. And I was like, oh, we don't do that in the left rack. We stand in front of stop one, and we still sell.
Starting point is 01:04:51 But the bridge didn't know that at the time. So I took full advantage. So I was like, oh, shit. And that time, the only time, that was when your boss, he was throwing a ball to your chest. And he was, I can't remember what he was saying. He was the real Denzel Washington from- He said that. He says that.
Starting point is 01:05:12 He says that. Your father says that? Yeah, he says that. I'm going to be honest. He said, hey, son, let's do a movie. I'm going to be honest. It takes a lot to do a movie, Dad. No, no, no.
Starting point is 01:05:21 Listen, I'm going to be honest with you. I got, I'm agreeing with him. I'm going to, because I saw, now, because I'm in front of 41-12, this was a Capone building, and it's only a little thing that covers you, right? Yeah, yeah. The little thing that when you walk in front of this, I'm in front of there, I'm like, they don't want to come outside, I'm good. I got their dimes.
Starting point is 01:05:44 Because I get wholesale from them. So I'm like, all right, cool. Now they wholesale. Listen, I'm going way too far. You good. You good. I'm sitting there and I'm like, oh, okay. And I'm hearing, shh, shh, shh.
Starting point is 01:06:01 So I'm thinking, what the fuck is this? I came and I looked. It was you and your pops. Rob Markman That was one of the only times we had a chance to have it to ourselves too, so we love the rain. Rob Markman Oh, so the rain was... Rob Markman So you know I'm not bullshitting, bro. Listen, my... Rob Markman I tell my wife that to this day.
Starting point is 01:06:15 Rob Markman Did I tell you this story? I said, yo, listen. I said, at first, I said, yo, at first I was like, yo, this is crazy shit. But then when I heard his pops speak, I was like, yo, this is crazy shit. I was like, yo, this is crazy shit. Rob Markman I was like, yo, this is crazy shit. I was like, yo, this is crazy shit. I was like, yo, this is crazy shit.
Starting point is 01:06:23 I was like, yo, this is crazy shit. I was like, yo, this is crazy shit. I was like, yo, this is crazy shit. I was like, yo, this is crazy shit. I was like, yo, this is crazy at first I was like, yo, this is crazy shit. But then when I heard his pops speak, I said, this man is going to the... Godless. Immediately. That man, he came over to us and he said something like a poem because it was like some Kenny Doo. I think Kenny Doo had came over right there.
Starting point is 01:06:41 Kenny Doo was Poem Pops, obviously. And Yup Pops, they just said something. And I was just sitting there. I'm the over right there. Kenny Doo was Poem Pops, obviously. And they just said something. And I was just sitting there. I'm the left right guy. Nobody knows who the fuck I am. I'm just there. I'm just there. And I looked.
Starting point is 01:06:56 And I realized how disciplined you were. Because I was like, fuck you. And you were just like, you looked. And I could tell every pass that you'd caught, you was like, fuck you, and you were just like, you looked and I could tell every pass that you'd caught, you was like, dad. But you didn't say it. You were just like, and I looked at you and I was like, there's no way. There's no way. There's discipline.
Starting point is 01:07:20 That man is not going to make it farther than my mind. And for sure, you did exactly that. And a lot of people, I kid you not, my son, because I said, yo, I'm sorry because I know you've met a world peace, excuse me. And he said, my son, he Googled every basketball player in the world. He said, are y'all going to fight? I said, what? But that's the first thing. That's funny. That's fucked up.
Starting point is 01:07:55 So I'm like, what? He said, I said, yo, I know him before anybody knows him. Like as far as fame goes. Son goes, what? Then my oldest son right there. My oldest Nassim, what's up? He goes, yeah, I know. But that's real shit, man.
Starting point is 01:08:16 Like, you know, for me to see your success, for me to see you, you know, that makes me a better person. It makes me a better person. It makes me a better individual. It makes me a better person that think wise because it knows that me, you, Capone, Nas, are having, we got to keep spreading that. From our town, our place, you can be bigger than even us. I mean, when y'all was doing y'all thing, I wanted to be just like y'all. I ain't going to lie. And I always brought that up because it was the only reference point I had. It was Maldive, CNN, Nas, and there was a bunch of others too.
Starting point is 01:08:52 Rob Markman, Jr.: You rapped though, right? Screwball. I did because of these guys. Rob Markman, Jr.: Yeah, yeah. Well, actually everybody rapped. Rob Markman, Jr.: Rappanoi. But you dropped the album? No, you recorded it now.
Starting point is 01:09:01 Rob Markman, Jr.: Screwball. Hostile, that's my brother-in-law. Screwball. Rob Markman, Jr.: Screwball. Yeah, it was crazy. But you know what? It was just inspiring. When I made it, all my friends want to be like, they want to be like them for real. We all started rapping.
Starting point is 01:09:15 I should have just stayed Mark and then quit, honestly. But it's all right. Right, right. Well, man, fuck that. Yeah, it's all right. As long as you have fun, because you know what? I'm waiting for you, so you come back. I got to take a pee-pee. But You know what I mean? Yeah, exactly. As long as you have fun, because you know what? I'm waiting for you. So you come back, I got to take a pee-pee.
Starting point is 01:09:27 But you know what? I'm going to be honest with you. You're so much an inspiration for the people in Queensbridge. Like, I seen one time, I was in Zoe's place. I seen you just drove by. You was like, yo, I seen you just drove by. You was like, yo, no, just drove by. And I remember the whole block just lit up. Like everybody was just like, yo, just drove through. Do you understand how much of an inspiration you are for people?
Starting point is 01:09:59 I was always back, man. When you talk about like Queens brand and everybody, the rappers that's from there, when I left, I always wanted to make sure I always came back. That's what it was about. But then sometimes I would be the only one in there. But then it was so much going on because honestly, I always wanted to be in the hood with you and Mob and Nas at the same time. It never really was like that.
Starting point is 01:10:28 Seeing them, Mob, Nas, Ron Artest, just chilling. I'm going to tell you like this. Now it's going to be like that. Now it's going to be like that. I was always mad about that. I said it sometimes. I was talking to the media. I don't want to talk too much out of line because Nas is like a big brother.
Starting point is 01:10:45 Right. And you know, my family is like a big brother. Right. And you know, Havoc is like, my family's still crack on the same floor as him. Right. Same block, right? Same, right there. But I was like, why ain't nobody coming together? Why is nobody doing records together? It used to kill me because I'm like all for it.
Starting point is 01:11:01 I'm all for it, but now everybody's still doing their thing and I hope, I would love one day for it to kind of be like that. Rob Markman Right. Rob Markman It was crazy. It was amazing. Y'all definitely inspired me. I ain't going to lie. I don't know if I would have made it without y'all because I wanted to be something. I wanted to be something. The music was always something I could relate to and something that pushed me. Rob Markman Goddamn. Make some noise for Goddamn. Rob Markman When your album came out. But the music was always something I could relate to and something that pushed me. Absolutely. And when your album came out-
Starting point is 01:11:26 Rob Markman, Jr.: I'm getting something a little emotional. But where was you at when you heard the Prodigy pass? Man. I speak to Prodigy. You know, I text Prodigy. Prodigy is one of my... he's a real dude. We started Infamous Records together. I was the first investor in Infamous Records.
Starting point is 01:11:49 Wow. But nobody knew that. But Prodigy is a big brother, you know what I'm saying? When he passed away, it was tough, man. It was unreal. Couldn't believe it. Didn't think it was real. I just saw him, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:12:04 Just seeing him. He's too young. He's too young to go away. And that was a tough one, man. Because my favorite record of all time is Veterans Memorial. Wow. And I would tell him that. That's my favorite record.
Starting point is 01:12:14 And that was a tough one. But his son's a producer. I hope his son makes beats for everybody. Nah, let's do that. Let's do that. Let's do that. Let's do that. Let's do that. Let's do that, man. I just wanted you to know, man, we're proud of you.
Starting point is 01:12:34 Us in Queens, we're holding you down. We're going to continue to represent for you. Now, let's get to Mike Chaffee. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Now, this is, listen, I'm not going to lie.
Starting point is 01:12:49 I don't laugh when tears come out my eye. But you're on ESPN. TNT. TNT. Same shit to me. Same shit, same shit. This nigga's on national TV, right?
Starting point is 01:13:02 What, did you just play against Kobe? No, we was playing against... Oh, yeah. Well, I said it when he was alive. I said it when he passed away. I had his name written on my head.
Starting point is 01:13:16 We played against LeBron James, and I put his name. But yeah, when he was alive, I had it. Rob Markman, the new TV, right? When he was alive. So they said to him, they said, yo, was this the toughest game you had to guard? Or somebody, like this is the kind of... He says, no. They said, well, who's the toughest person you ever had to guard? There you go.
Starting point is 01:13:34 Mike Chaffee. Rob Markman, I should kill me. But now, if you don't know who Mike Chaffee is... Yeah, young. Rob Markman, now let me just tell you something. Mike Chaffee comes to the jail. This nigga arms like this. He just walks into jail, right?
Starting point is 01:13:54 I'm in the jail. He walks in. I just look at this nigga. I said, I don't know why, but I feel like I know you. He said, I'm from Queensbridge. I said, I knew it. I knew it. And this nigga He said, I'm from Queensbridge. I said, I knew it. I knew it. And this nigga, oh, listen to me.
Starting point is 01:14:10 You cannot take the ball from this nigga. This nigga's like this. But when he was in jail playing against, he was a baller. So nobody could fuck with him. Wait, you say he went to jail like he was in jail. No, this nigga went to jail. He didn't even tell nobody he plays ball. So I had to gas him. I'm saying he's in jail. He's not visiting you like I'm about to go to jail. No, he's in to jail. He didn't even tell nobody he plays ball. So I had to gas him. I'm saying he's in the jail.
Starting point is 01:14:25 He's not visiting you like I'm about to go to jail. No, he's in the jail, man. That's what I was thinking. That's what I was thinking. No, he's in jail, right? Yeah. But mind you, he comes through and he's like, yo, he's like, I know Kyan. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:14:39 Mind you, this is no Kimono Noriega shit. This is prior to that. Yeah, prior to that. So I'm looking. And then just one day, this nigga just grabbed the ball. And we go on the ball court, and this nigga just grabbed the ball. He was just like, and I kid you not, you cannot take the ball from this nigga. Yeah, he was a special player, man.
Starting point is 01:14:56 He was a special beast, my dude. And I'm just, I was like, once I knew that, I was like, I wanted to play against everybody. I was like, yo, come on. Me and Mike Chappell. Get in there. I never knew that. I heard he was working out in jail. No, he got busy in jail.
Starting point is 01:15:14 They said he was going to work. That was my secret weapon. So when you said that, and you said, the nigga said, yo, was this hard? And you said, the hardest player I ever played against was Mike Chaffer. Yo, I'm not going to lie. He just came out of my eyes. Let's say it's Mike. Yes.
Starting point is 01:15:31 So Mike and Kobe, they remind me of each other. Their toughness. I love you. They definitely remind me. And then I never knew Mike beat Raheem. I saw Raheem last week at Zoe's, and Raheem told me Mike beat him. At Zoe's, I've seen that picture. And then I'm like, oh, wow, Mike beat me 32 to 2 when I was 13. He beat Raheem, like Raheem told me Mike beat him. Rob Markman, Jr.: At Zoey's, I seen that picture. Rob Markman, Jr.: And then I'm like, oh wow, Mike beat me 32 to two when I was 13.
Starting point is 01:15:46 He beat Raheem like, Raheem scored a little more. Rob Markman, Jr.: Come on, you said 32 to two? Rob Markman, Jr.: 32 to two, yeah. Mike, Mike, Mike. Rob Markman, Jr.: You remember the score? Rob Markman, Jr.: I remember the score. Rob Markman, Jr.: You're a real nigga. Rob Markman, Jr.: I'm never going to forget that score.
Starting point is 01:15:56 Rob Markman, Jr.: You're a real nigga. Rob Markman, Jr.: Never going to forget that score. Rob Markman, Jr.: It made you great. Rob Markman, Jr.: 32 to two. Rob Markman, Jr.: 32 to two. Rob Markman, Jr.: He beat Raheem like 32 to like- Rob Markman, Jr.: You scored twice. Rob Markman, Jr.: I scored once.
Starting point is 01:16:04 Rob Markman, Jr.: Oh, okay. Rob Markman, Jr.: Oh, we counted my twos. Rob Markman, Jr.: We counted our twos. Rob Markman, Jr.: Oh scored once. Oh, okay. Oh, we counted my twos. I counted my twos. Oh, shit. Yeah, my twos. Damn, huh? Okay. And Raheem, I think Raheem might have had like 26. Raheem was nice.
Starting point is 01:16:12 I didn't even know he beat Raheem. But Mike was, he was in jail when he was 17 years old at the time? Yes. We was in kiddie jail together, yes. He was 16, what was y'all, 16? Yes, DFY. Yes, DFY. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:24 And Capone, too. Capone, too, was on the other side. Capone? Yes, onY. Yes, DFY. Oh, yeah. And Capone, too. Capone, too, was on the other side. Capone? Yes, on the other side. That's how we all knew each other. That's crazy. Twan. Twan was nice, too.
Starting point is 01:16:32 The Gambino and IM3. But then when Mike, we was all supposed to go to LIC. Me, Mike, and Reggie Jesse went to Bishop Loughlin and St. John's with me. Mike Chadfield, brother, who was like with me in high school. I averaged 25. Mike Chatfield, brother, averaged 22. Went to New Mexico and all that. Wow.
Starting point is 01:16:50 You know, and then Mike, when he came out of jail, we knew Mike was nice. But then, you know, Mike loved the streets. Mike loved the streets. And I never really got it. But that's my man. He was the best. And when I shouted him out, I'm like, I'm always going to let you know that he was the best. And then I got my chance to say it on TNT.
Starting point is 01:17:08 He hit me up, yo. He in the streets hustling. He's like, yo, thanks for that. He still. That's my dream big moment. I ain't going to lie. I ain't going to lie. I'm like, when he said that, because no one in the world knew what the fuck he was talking about.
Starting point is 01:17:25 Kenny Smith did. As you should. Yeah. Kenny Smith did. Kenny Smith from left. I'm about to take this. Luckily we have somebody from left back on TV. But the thing was, we have so many unsung heroes, right?
Starting point is 01:17:41 That's from our hood. So many people that have this props, but they don't actually be recognized. It was a bunch of people in front of me. It was Raheem Johnson, it was Durrell and Deon. Them niggas was nice. Mike Chaffell and Reggie Jesse. And then sometimes you get lucky, and the shit just opened up for me, because they stopped playing. A lot of the guys stopped playing.
Starting point is 01:18:06 Raheem, Lawless Streets 2. My dude. I'm about to ask you. My dude. What do you think Raheem's fault was? Raheem. Because that's Vincent Smith. It was too easy for him.
Starting point is 01:18:15 Raheem had to... You got to think about it. When Raheem... When we played against left, right, Raheem would give us 40. We had no chance. Raheem was too nice. Right. We had no chance.
Starting point is 01:18:23 And I think it was too easy for him early. He played... So he got bored with it. At the NBA camp, I didn't get invited. It was the top 100 players. Raheem was there with Kobe. That's the picture I posted on my Instagram. Raheem was...
Starting point is 01:18:35 He was nice. Right. And I'm always going to tell him that, too. You know? Yeah. I'm always going to tell him that. I'm going to be honest, man. Ron, you're a great guy, man. I'm going to be honest, man. Ron, you're a great guy, man.
Starting point is 01:18:45 I'm going to be honest, my nigga. I'm trying to give you all type of... yo, man. Nigga's was nice. We're not going to lie to you. Nah, nah, Ron. You was nice too. You had a little game back then too. I ain't going to lie.
Starting point is 01:18:56 I had a little game. You know why? Let me just... let me just keep it real. I'm going to keep it real. What's your name? What's your name? What's Vic? You know Vic?
Starting point is 01:19:04 Oh, Vic. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know Vic? All right, listen. Vic that play ball? Yes. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. I'm going to tell y'all something. I'm going to tell y'all a classic story.
Starting point is 01:19:12 You talking about Kenny, bro? No, I'm talking about Vic. Vic from Queensbridge. From Queensbridge. I know that. So Vic, he was half Puerto Rican like me. Who? They kept comparing.
Starting point is 01:19:22 Well, no, he had curly hair. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. He had curly hair, right? I got curly hair, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So this curly hair. He had curly hair, right? I got curly hair, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So this is the top two niggas, right? So Vic comes to my... You know, that's Raheem's fake cousin too, right?
Starting point is 01:19:33 Yeah. So they bring him to the left rack. I got on the shoes. Vic comes on here. They say, you're the only guy I got to beat. I'm the top NYC player. Y'all, you ought to relax. Definitely didn't say that then, but I'm paraphrasing.
Starting point is 01:20:00 So the niggas say, yo, y'all, let's do it right now. Damn, I got on a shoe. This is a legendary story, Raheem with Cosign. I said, all right, cool. I gave the nigga my shoes. I gave him, I had on, no, he had on shoes. I gave him my shoes. I gave him my shoes. And left back.
Starting point is 01:20:33 And left back? That is crazy. And bust him down. By one point. Ask Raheem. Only by one point, because I was... I didn't know the nigga was that nice. The nigga was nice.
Starting point is 01:20:49 The nigga was like, what? I said, oh shit, but I ain't going to lie. It was only the pride of the hood that made me win. Like I'm going to be honest. Like the nigga had me. Like he had me in my shoes. Real shit. But I said, I was, you know,'re in your hood, you start elbowing.
Starting point is 01:21:08 What? You know you can win. You know you can win. It's the only two of y'all from Green's Ridge. You got to relax. My nigga. And that's what I- Have you ever played against Havoc? No, Havoc's trash. I'm going to be played against Havoc no Havoc's trash Havoc was not that bad Havoc's trash Prodigy's trash and Ball
Starting point is 01:21:30 yeah yeah and Ball no they trash Pone is ill Pone is nice Pone is ill Nas trash I never seen Nas play
Starting point is 01:21:38 I never seen Nas play I love Nas oh what nigga funded everything I got going on right now Nas I love you. Oh, what a... Nigga funded everything I got going on right now. Nas, I love you. But I also see you too. I don't think...
Starting point is 01:21:53 Listen, right now, listen to this we should do. Mass appeal against drink champs. Basketball game. We're going to throw it out there right now. But listen, listen. But we don't want to play against the staff. We want to play against Jungle, Nas, Davies.
Starting point is 01:22:12 Yeah, we want to do a good. Because I'm going to be honest. I'm looking at you, EFN. I think you trash, too, in basketball. But I'm about to sit out of my mouth. I'm about to sit out of my mouth. You were like, you didn't even go to the sideline. No, no, no. No, no, no.
Starting point is 01:22:34 I'll play, but I'm going like this. Right now. All right. We need, like, now, I want to, because I got to go to the bathroom, but no, I want to enforce how real is having a reinforcement guy like you on the team. Because Dennis Rodman was one thing. I felt like he paved the way for you. Am I correcting my- We were similar, but different, because I was a scorer.
Starting point is 01:23:06 And you didn't have blonde hair. I didn't have blonde hair. You did. A lot of times. I forgot about that. Don't bring that up. You did. You did.
Starting point is 01:23:13 I definitely forgot about that. He's my favorite player. I wore 91 because of Dennis. That's my favorite player. So how did you develop, like, you know, like, fuck that. You're not scoring on me?
Starting point is 01:23:25 I mean, honestly, it came from 12th Street. You know what I'm saying? That's where it came from. You know what I'm saying? Oh, wait. Go ahead. Keep going. You're playing with the guys on 12th Street.
Starting point is 01:23:35 You can't get on the court. You can't get on the court unless you ready and there's only one court on 12th Street. I'm not going to Vernon. I don't even want to walk on the other side. No. It's very dangerous on Vernon as well. They don't even like y'all on 12th Street court on 12th Street. I'm not going to Vernon. I don't even want to walk on my side. No. It's very dangerous on Vernon as well. I'm staying right where I'm at. They don't really like y'all on 12th Street.
Starting point is 01:23:48 Yeah, I'm staying right... I'm not going to any one of those Vernons. I'm not going past the Hill or the... 48th or 41st. I'm not going to 10th Street. I'm not going nowhere. All right, cool. Sometimes we go to Baby Park. Baby Park is cool. I'm going to go to Baby Park.
Starting point is 01:24:00 But the Hill is real too. The Reese, you don't want to go to Baby Park. I mean, yeah, this is a game. So I stayed on Taylor Street and then in order to get on the court, you had to make it. And I started to make it and motherfuckers, they would try to thug me out and I started to get bigger and bigger. And I was playing with the men at like 12, 13 years old. And I'm playing with my pops every night, so I was ready for all those little elbows they was throwing.
Starting point is 01:24:22 And they did it. They let me play every time. I was the only teenager playing. I wasn't even a teenager. I was like 12 years old, and I was locking motherfuckers up at a young age. So now you go to the NBA, and now when is the time where they say, this is the guy? Because at one point, people were just like, yo, listen, we're going, because you're
Starting point is 01:24:45 just intimidating everybody. No one wants to go to the hole. This is what it was. This is what it was. They would say I was fouling and stuff, but I never really fouled out. And I would use all my fouls. I know when I have five, I'm not getting six. Because I'm going to be honest.
Starting point is 01:24:57 You know what I'm saying? My man, Shobolati, right there. Shobolati. He got one of all your fouls. No, at one point, he was just the foul guy. Yeah, yeah. How many did you got? You got? Listen, listen, listen. They used to just put him in the game to foul people.
Starting point is 01:25:10 Foul people and then you get up out here. How many fouls? How many? He did. Listen, listen. Listen, listen. He thought he was nice. He was never nice. He used to put him in the game just to foul people. Listen, listen. You're a butch. He's a was nice. He was never nice. He used to play in the game just to foul people.
Starting point is 01:25:25 Listen, listen, listen. You're a butch. He's a butch. He's a butch. That's what I'm saying. I'm playing with my kids, Bill. He is. But he is a butch, just so you know.
Starting point is 01:25:43 So how did you develop that mentality that no one's just going to score? You know, sometimes I feel like it was a lot of all-stars getting a lot of recognition. And then I wasn't getting as much recognition because I wasn't a high jumper. So I decided to really take defense to the next level. And honestly, some games I wouldn't even want to rebound. I wouldn't want to get no stats, which hurt me a little bit. But sometimes I get like, you know, some rebounds will fall on my hands. So I got two rebounds. Maybe like four points, maybe six points. and be the best player on the floor.
Starting point is 01:26:07 I always wanted to be the best player on the floor without scoring, without getting rebounds, without any stats. I was able to do that sometimes. I'll walk on the floor and I have at least some of the points, but we win and I shut down my opponent and I'm the best player on the floor without any stats. It's hard to do, but you got to get a lot of deflections. You got to box out every single time. 50-50s, yeah.
Starting point is 01:26:30 50-50 balls, you know, good passes, you know, good defense, and you're the best player on the floor with just defense. Wow. And win the game. And win the game. Now, the big three, are you enjoying it? I'm enjoying the big three, are you enjoying it? I'm enjoying the big three. You know, it's a little time consuming because like, you know, just all the stuff I'm trying to do now.
Starting point is 01:26:51 You know, they pay us, you know, they pay us 100 racks, 50 after tax, you know. And when you make so much money in the NBA, that's not as motivating, you know. Yeah, he's been 100%. Yeah. But the season is only eight. The season is what? Eight weeks? Rob Markman The season is like 10 weeks. Rob Markman No, I'm just saying it's not as motivating as the NBA.
Starting point is 01:27:13 Rob Markman But it's dope. Rob Markman It's dope. You're killing it. It's dope. Rob Markman But it's fun. It's for Ice Cube. I want to see it do well. It feels like the NBA, but the salaries are going to be going up next year.
Starting point is 01:27:25 They're going to continue to go up. But is that expected as a player to join or just be happy that they're a part of Big 3? No, but I think right now we're paving the way. I'm happy that I'm paving the way for somebody else. We're not reaping the benefits. Oh, man. You know what my favorite record? Are you going to take a peek?
Starting point is 01:27:45 Go take a peek, man. The record, LA, LA, Big City of Dreams. But I like the remix. The Marley Mar remix? The Marley Mar remix. Remix is dope. You from Queensbridge, for real. Remix is dope.
Starting point is 01:27:55 Hold on, we're not wrapping it up. I just got 12th Street Finest in the building. You know what I'm saying? Again- Hey, hey, hey, hey. They got the old rigatone. You know what,'m saying? Again. Hey, hey, hey.
Starting point is 01:28:07 They got the whole rigatone. Yo, that's my man, Jose. Nugs? Is that Nugs? Okay, all right, all right. One time, one time. Yeah, yeah, go. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:28:17 I was just trying to smoke. I definitely wanted to smoke, bro. So now, when you look at what's happening in the NBA right now, because I have to ask you, right? Because you're an NBA expert more than anybody in this room. LeBron went to the Lakers. Cousins also goes to Golden State. What is going to happen next year? What is going to happen this year?
Starting point is 01:28:44 The East doesn't even matter? I like the big, I like the super teams. You know why I like the super teams? Why? I like the super teams because sometimes in the NBA, you don't have to be that nice to be on a squad. You can just have good connections. With the super teams, you got to be that nice to be on a squad. You can just have good connections. With the super teams, you've got to be nice now.
Starting point is 01:29:09 I was trying to get 20 years in the league. I could have made it if I wanted to. But sometimes when you're out, you're out. Cut for him, please. But with the super teams, you've got to be nice. You know what I'm saying? So I'm hoping there's more super teams. Because you can't be in the game when you're going up against Durant,
Starting point is 01:29:28 Kerry, and Klay. You got to be ready. So I hope they get more. And I hope some people from overseas come back. So right now, if LeBron call you and say, listen, I need you to suit up, yellow and purple What you doing I'm playing 101 first I'ma tell you why because like my mind is not what basketball is like, you know, I'm like... You're that rich. No, I'm just saying. High five, nigga. You're getting a lot of money.
Starting point is 01:30:07 I'm getting a lot of money. When you think like that, you're getting a lot of money, guys. I don't want to rap. That's how I feel about rap. I don't want to rap. Fuck rap. It's okay.
Starting point is 01:30:19 It's just like there's so much politics involved. I get ready for a season and then you don't play. Or you get so ready, then they bring somebody else in. It's like, okay, what am I getting ready for? But if I play LeBron one-on-one, I'll be like, all right, cool, I'm about to go in, get in shape, I'm ready. One-on-one real quick. I'm not going to lie. I'm looking at you.
Starting point is 01:30:32 He'll motivate me. He'll motivate me to go live. I'm looking at you. You look in shape right now. I'm in bad shape. So what the fuck? What is in shape? Because you look in shape.
Starting point is 01:30:40 What are you talking about? Honestly. What's in shape? What is in shape? I was going to say, what's in shape? What is in shape? That's what I'm saying. That's your father.
Starting point is 01:30:47 You got to call your father tomorrow and say, thank you, daddy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm going to be honest. You can just have me on three-way. I'll be like,
Starting point is 01:30:53 I'll relax. And then I'll hang up. And then I'll hang up. But I'm going to be honest. Look, look, that's installed in your brain. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're already
Starting point is 01:31:02 who you're supposed to be and you want to be the person that you, you know what I mean? I could definitely do it. I could definitely bust a lot of people's ass in the league.
Starting point is 01:31:11 Absolutely, but I'm not. But not LeBron. Let's not go there. There's a lot of people I could bust. I'm not going to say LeBron. A lot of people's ass I could bust.
Starting point is 01:31:17 But now I'm coaching these young boys, so I'm not like, I'm not trying to make it as much because I'm helping a lot of people. I'm going with you. You and Lance Stevenson,
Starting point is 01:31:23 I'm going with you. He's my guy. He's from Brooklyn, right? The Lakers might win it next year, by the way. You? Nah, stop, stop, stop. I'm going to be honest. How many more spots they got left to fill?
Starting point is 01:31:34 They got a couple spots. They got LeBron and they got money. No, they got, listen, they got LeBron and nobody right now. They got Rajon. Hey, man. I like Rajon. We don't know what the young boys are going to do coming back.
Starting point is 01:31:49 We don't know how good they're going to be. So who knows? Did they get that much better? If they did, if Kuzma came back better, Kuzma's nice. Ever consider about being a coach?
Starting point is 01:32:00 Yeah, I'm a coach. I coach the South Bay Lakers. They gave me the opportunity to come back. The what Lakers? South Bay. What's the South Bay Lakers? It's me the opportunity to come back. The what Lakers? South Bay. What's the South Bay Lakers? It's like the Lakers low league team.
Starting point is 01:32:08 That's hard. Can you invite me to a game? Yeah, but I just practice with them. By the way, you didn't even invite me to the big three tickets. Yo, you want to come? Yeah, I mean, come on. I got two tickets. Yeah, all right, cool.
Starting point is 01:32:17 I got two tickets for you. All right, cool, cool. I'm going to give you my government name on text. All right, let's handle that right now. Did I poach? I'm going to give you my government, text. I never use them. All right, let's handle that right now. Did I poach? Did I poach? I'm giving you my government, nigga. We got ID and shit.
Starting point is 01:32:29 We got ID. Hey, the big three, when you see a seat, take the seat. I ain't gonna lie. Yeah, I've never been to a victory game. They be letting you chill. Yes, people roaming around. It's a dope experience. So it's not like when I go to the heat, because I go to the heat, I got the VIP section with
Starting point is 01:32:44 the cold crab legs. It's not too much. It ain't nothing like that. It's not? No, nothing like that. A little more simpler. I'm in. A little more simpler.
Starting point is 01:32:50 Nah, but it's dope, though. You'll enjoy it, man. And it's your first year at the Big 3? My first year. Okay. You know, it's just fun. It's fun. It's like Rucker.
Starting point is 01:33:00 It's like an upgraded Rucker. It's definitely upgraded. Upgraded Rucker. Definitely upgraded. Upgraded Rucker. Definitely upgraded. Upgraded Rucker, right? Yeah, they're going to kill it. They're doing their thing. But if I had a whole year to prepare for it, I'd get more ready.
Starting point is 01:33:12 I just wasn't mentally, I'm not like, workout every day. I come up, I want to win. So why exactly did you kick the ball? I'm going to tell you why I kicked the ball. Yeah, I'm going to tell you why I kicked the ball. And they should have threw you out for a little bit. They threw me out. Let me ask. You know I kicked the ball- I'm going to tell you why I kicked the ball. Yeah, I'm going to tell you why I kicked the ball. And they should have threw you out for a little bit. They threw me out. Let me be honest. You know I kicked the ball on 112. Did I tell you that?
Starting point is 01:33:29 You told me that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I told you. All right, good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Definitely kicked the ball on 112. Everybody kicked the ball. All right, me niggas ain't going to beat me in ball. I'm going to throw that out there. Like, fuck that. Even if I'm losing, like, fuck that. Let's just disqualify the game. I'm sorry, but I'm sure that's not what happened with you.
Starting point is 01:33:47 Hey, when Steve Jackson got pushed by Al Harrington, I'm like, the ref didn't call a foul. I'm like, if he didn't see that, I don't need to be in this game. So I was trying to get the ball, you know, just to show him how bad a referee you are and kick it. And he injected me. I was like, thank you. I don't want to be in this game.
Starting point is 01:34:08 I want to play. I need rules. You know what I'm saying? What's the rules? You know what I mean? And I talked to Ice Cube about it. And just call real fast. I don't mind grinding, but I'm not trying to be headlocking somebody,
Starting point is 01:34:21 pushing somebody down. Like, come on. You're setting us up. You're setting us up for the big brawl again. That's great. You know what I mean? That's great. They're going to fight.
Starting point is 01:34:29 For me, like, because if you push me, I'm like, I'm not going to let you keep pushing me. Right. I can't turn it off. You know?
Starting point is 01:34:37 So the ref's got to control it. So now, this 14 years between you and Jermaine, I can't understand that. I know I asked you that earlier. Yeah. But I can't understand.
Starting point is 01:34:53 You joked in the stands by yourself. From what I see, you didn't look. You didn't care if anybody was behind you. You just wanted to get the nigger that hit you with this orange. I really didn't want them to run behind me. They did because they real niggas. They lost a lot of money too. But why? So why didn't y'all speak after that? Because you lost money and they lost money. And they lost money.
Starting point is 01:35:15 So why wouldn't y'all speak? That was crazy to me because it was like this. Honestly, it wasn't out of disrespect. I never really went to lunch with anybody. I respect Jermaine. When we got on that floor, our practice is crazy, real competitive. Because Jermaine's crazy. I'm crazy. Steve Jackson's crazy. And Reggie Miller's there?
Starting point is 01:35:37 We got a bunch of crazy motherfuckers in this world. Reggie Miller's there? I feel them all, though. You know what I'm saying? Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still there.
Starting point is 01:35:54 Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still there.
Starting point is 01:36:02 Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still there. Reggie Miller was still not even trying to go out with anybody. Right. You know, I want to bust your ass tomorrow. Right. And that's every day, and I never was able to turn it off and just get some lunch and just chill. Right. You know, I didn't know how to chill, you know?
Starting point is 01:36:13 That's why. But they understand, yo. They understand. Right. And I was young. I was 19. I had a baby, you know. And I had a baby when I was 17, going through a couple things with the wifey.
Starting point is 01:36:24 So my mind wasn't all the way on the court also. I was trying to figure out what I'm going to do. I was 19. I got all this money. I'm just doing crazy shit. I'm not really focused on just ball, you know? No, but here's the reason why I asked you this, right? It's because immediately when we get somebody that we know they don't
Starting point is 01:36:45 drink champs, I get my friend Diego, where's Diego at, and he Googles something. Starting point is 01:41:41 forgive me if I'm wrong, but you saying it was kind of like your fault because you were kind of like in the league, but you were like defensive. You didn't really want to... I used to be like that in the industry. I used to be like that in the industry. Jermaine's a real nigga. I'm saying some of my best friends, by the way, is Al Harrington, Steve, Jermaine. I talk to them.
Starting point is 01:42:05 I talk to a lot of people. Not because of any disrespect, but I fucks with them. Al Harrington always reach out, yo, let's get some lunch. And Steve Jackson, they reach out all the time. Always inviting me everywhere. And I remember that to this day. They invited me everywhere. And it wasn't just them.
Starting point is 01:42:24 All the teams too. I go to my room. I try to to this day. They invited me everywhere. I just wouldn't go out. And it wasn't just them. All the teams, too. I go to my room. I try to get my rest. And I'm always thinking about the game. Wow. And practice. But as I got older, I was just chilling. I didn't care.
Starting point is 01:42:38 I said, I prepared. And sometimes I just want to have fun. We lose, whatever. Because I take losing to personal. I was in the Madison Gardens. And I threw the camera. I took the camera off the guy. I threw it. I was mad. We lost. Like threw the camera, I took the camera off the guy. I was mad, we lost.
Starting point is 01:42:46 Like a lot. You're a real queen. Lost a hundred niggas. That's some real queen shit right there. Soon as I said, yo, I got, I said, we got medals tonight.
Starting point is 01:42:58 Nigga said, you know that nigga kicked the ball, just like you. I threw the camera. Chobolati, big Chobolati up. It was $150,000 for that camera.
Starting point is 01:43:05 You know what I mean? For the camera, so I'm not thinking about the camera. I'm just mad about the camera. The camera cost me $150,000. I'm like, fuck. I'll ask, can I have the camera to fix the pieces? Maybe I can make 80 back. That's a lot of money.
Starting point is 01:43:13 They didn't even give me the camera back. You know what I mean? I'm going to fix that and use that maybe. But yeah, there's a lot of crazy shit like that. But I'm happy with everything though. I'm happy with everything. I'm happy with everything. I'm happy with everything.
Starting point is 01:43:21 I'm happy with everything. I'm happy with everything. I'm happy with everything. I'm happy with everything. I'm happy with everything. I'm happy with everything even give me the camera back. I would have fixed that and used that maybe. But yeah, there's a lot of crazy shit like that. But watch out. I'm happy with everything though. You think the NBA is soft right now? No, it's back now. It was soft. You say that because the last seven years- But let me explain. Let me explain where I'm coming from. The Jordan Barkley era. These niggas was elbowing each other. These niggas, they're
Starting point is 01:43:47 all that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Then they got the next era, and now they got this era where even if they come near you, they got fouled. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But then you got Draymond Green. He played like you. There's a couple guys that could have played back in the days. A couple years ago, I couldn't say that.
Starting point is 01:44:08 The league is super soft. Right now, it's physical. So Cousins, LeBron. I'm sorry. You said the league is super soft. You tried to say that and just kept going. You got to relax. No, the league is not right now.
Starting point is 01:44:21 I feel like LeBron. It's super soft, you said? No, not right now. It was. It was. It was like maybe three, four years ago. It was super soft because they call every foul. So what they did was the overseas players wasn't physical enough to play in the NBA.
Starting point is 01:44:36 You want to expand your game. And when you're coming over here and you're playing the old rules, you don't really got a chance against us Americans over here, quite honestly. Why? Until you evolve. They had to make it happen quicker. Why? Until you evolve. Right. They had to make it happen quicker. So they opened it up.
Starting point is 01:44:49 They allowed zone, you know, and the better shooters are overseas. So there was a lot of rules. So they wasn't letting you bump. Like, if Curry's coming off me and I hit him, I can't bump him. Like, before, you could do all that. So they freed the game for the smaller players. But now I feel like this game is coming back getting more physical.
Starting point is 01:45:08 They want it to be more physical. You played against him? I played against him, man. Shut him down? No, I never shut him down. It's very hard to shut him down. I never, I mean, I wasn't in my prime, and then at the same time, like, I didn't play against him a lot.
Starting point is 01:45:23 It would have been fun, you know, but nah, he was already going that way. How about KD? KD, I caught KD in my prime. Did you shut him down? I think he shot 29% in the playoffs. But that's when he was young. He wasn't ready. He wasn't ready.
Starting point is 01:45:39 He wasn't ready at that time. He was becoming ready. As you see him, I caught him at the perfect time. Because he was probably, right now, he probably gave me 50. Where do you rank yourself as the best defensive player in the world? Because I'm going to be honest, I only have two defensive players in the world. It's only Dennis Robin and you. I don't care.
Starting point is 01:46:00 I don't care. Any day, it could be you number one. It could be him number one. Dennis was amazing. I don't give him enough credit. I give him credit. I always try to. Any day, it could be you number one. It could be him number one. Dennis was amazing. I don't give him enough credit. I give him credit. I always try to shout. That's how I work.
Starting point is 01:46:08 I'm not going to lie to you. That nigga live down the block from me. So I see this nigga all the time. And one time, I was going to wash Dennis up. I was like, I want to... It's not his. It's not his. I'm going to leave it on him.
Starting point is 01:46:22 No, he's my guy. But he was lit. Yeah, Dennis get lit. And I looked at him leave it on. No, he's my guy, but he was lit. Yeah, Dennis get lit. And I looked at him. You're probably not as much no more. I had to leave because I said, I don't want, nigga don't want to stab Dennis. Did I say that in front of y'all niggas? I'm sorry.
Starting point is 01:46:40 I didn't really, no, I didn't want to do it. I was just like, he smacked every bitch ass that walked through that shit. And I'm with my wife and I'm going to be honest, I love my wife. So I walked through and my wife about to walk through,
Starting point is 01:46:57 I said, hold on, baby. Relax, stay over there. And then every other bitch that walked through, they'd smash their ass. And I looked at this nigga, I said, listen, and all his homies, I looked at them. And I just looked at this nigga, and I said,
Starting point is 01:47:19 you sure? Because his boat is parked under my house. You don't understand. He has a boat called the Rodman. His boat is parked under my house. You don't understand. He has a boat called the Rodman in front of my house. So I'm like, nigga, you're not going to win tonight. And then you're not going to win getting in your boat. So I'm giving him that look.
Starting point is 01:47:46 And that nigga said, I ain't fucking with him. And he never did nothing. Yeah, that sounds like about him. He never looked at him. And he was just like, and his people said, leave this nigga alone. And I stood there.
Starting point is 01:47:57 I'm Dolo. I stood there. And he's like, all right, cool. But he, it would not have been a good night in Marada. I don't even know what Marada is. But big up to Dennis.
Starting point is 01:48:15 But he's a crazy nigga. Yeah, Dennis is a- You ever been to North Korea? I've never been to North Korea. I love North Korea. I love what Dennis did, man. He just tried to bring peace. He did it the first time was wrong.
Starting point is 01:48:27 He was drunk. You know? He's still on cocaine to this day. To this day. I've seen him. I've seen him. I've seen him. I know cocaine jaws.
Starting point is 01:48:36 I felt him. This nigga. I say, I don't got no wins right now. Like, this nigga right now. this nigga's Bobby Brown, yo. I feel Dennis, though, man. That's my nigga. I fuck with him. Who he grow with no parents.
Starting point is 01:48:53 His life is crazy. And he had Pamela Anderson. He was homeless. Once you got Pamela Anderson. He was rock star. He was everything. No, once you got Pamela Anderson. That's not?
Starting point is 01:49:00 He didn't have Pamela Anderson? Carmen Electra. Yeah, she had Carmen Electra. Who's got Carmen Electra? Madonna, too, maybe. Yeah, I'm like a common lecture Madonna to maybe You entitled to be crazy like you got The finest white pussy in the world Is funny the best finest white pussy in the world my wife is not here everybody looking around thinking like my wife is here And if even she was here, it's okay she loves understand it's some fine white pussy out there you got a
Starting point is 01:49:37 How you gonna end this Nori How you gonna stop how does it how does it I'm saying it's a fine white pussy out there. Sometimes niggas got to do it. For real. You got to relax. It ended him in North Korea. That's what I'm saying. Nah, I'm just saying.
Starting point is 01:49:59 It's this. It is this. Right, ear friend? You had some fine white pussy before? Relax, buddy. You don't want? You had some fine white pussy before. Relax, buddy. You don't want to talk about the fine white pussy? You don't drink Champs, huh?

You're out there doing your thing. Nah, I'm fucking around. It's pussy. It's some fine white pussy out there. I mean, you know, people have their preference.

People have their preference, but you know, I'll be just chilling, man. I ain't going to lie to you. I'm going to be honest. I'm going to be, I was, I'll be just chilling, man. I ain't going to lie to you. No, I'm going to be honest.
Starting point is 01:51:06 I'm going to be honest. Being a loyal person, being a loyal guy is better than being a scumbag. I mean, everybody go through their things. I'm going to be honest. It's called maturity. Sometimes people's not ready. It's called maturity. I think we all grew up. I'm going to be honest.

Starting point is 01:51:38 It was beautiful. But when I was a scumbag. Scumbag gang? And you living in Miami, too, huh? I was wearing pink shirts like Mr. Leak. Salmon, salmon. That's salmon. It didn't work out for me.
Starting point is 01:51:54 It didn't work out for me. I was waking up in Gold Rush. I was in Gold Rush. Smelling like fucci, man. And lap dance and pancakes. It didn't go together. I was sitting there. Then I got my life I stopped with salmon he's wearing similar and pink I stopped hanging out with show below cuz he's you know he's a jump off. I'm just throwing it out there. He's a jump off. So y'all be out all- Y'all be out all-
Starting point is 01:52:26 I'll be honest, this is my brother, Shobolati. I know, y'all know him. He's a good- But let me just tell you something. See, a lot of times, niggas be thinking y'all smashing chicks. There's a lot of stories in the NBA. The chicks are smashing y'all. There's a lot of stories in the NBA.
Starting point is 01:52:43 And that's what he is. Everywhere. Everybody having fun at of stories in the NBA. And that's what he is. Everybody having fun at the end of the day. He's getting by the end of the day. You cannot. You cannot. You got to relax and take it. I definitely don't want to hang out with you now.

Starting point is 01:53:17 So now, Ron, you see this big conglomerate with the Golden State going on and LeBron. Can LeBron even survive this year? Yeah, they're trying to win it. Kawhi just went to the Raptors, correct? Yeah, I don't think LeBron necessarily needed Kawhi or Kawhi don't really need LeBron either. But LeBron needs somebody. Even Batman needed Peter Pan. LeBron? No, I'm just kidding. but these might be the Peter Pan
Starting point is 01:54:06 Right now, you. Because he's over there at Dolo right now. And Tony Parker. Where's Tony Parker? Tony Parker with Charlotte. Spider-Man? No, Tony Parker went to... The league don't be on fire this year, man. Tony Parker went with Jordan. He got to relax because Jordan and y'all niggas ain't winning shit. But Tony Parker went to Jordan.
Starting point is 01:54:21 So what do you think about what's going on? It's going to be on fire. The Lakers is definitely going to make noise because Kuzma is really good. LeBron, he got a shooter. He can shoot. They got the young guys coming back. People didn't see him yet, though. I wish Julius was there because I knew Julius, but he's going to play well in New Orleans.
Starting point is 01:54:39 But the league is going to be on fire. It's going to be good. Everybody stepping it up. Everybody working. You see everybody online, Instagram, everybody training. I was with Chris Paul, Trevor Enhardt, and they was in the gym every day together at UCLA last year. And then they showed on the court. I didn't think they was going to play this well. They just in the summertime playing ball.
Starting point is 01:55:00 Rob Markman, In Houston? You didn't think they was going to be in Houston either? Yeah, I didn't think they was going to be this good. Rob Markman, You thought they would be the Clippers? I'm thinking they going to win like 50-something games. Rob Markman, you were going to be in Houston. Yeah, I didn't think they was going to be this good. Rob Markman, you thought they would be a Clippers. I'm thinking they going to win like 50 some games. Rob Markman, Wow. Well, you know, 49 games. Rob Markman, I can see you at Houston right now. Shoot, I can't.
Starting point is 01:55:12 I need to get motivated. Rob Markman, I just thought about that. I just thought about that. Rob Markman, Oh, I just thought about that. Rob Markman, Ariza got traded though. He left. He did? Rob Markman, He left, yeah.
Starting point is 01:55:20 Oh, wow. They probably didn't smile. Rob Markman, Who left? Trevor Ariza left Houston. Rob Markman, Yeah, he went. I gave him some money. I think he went to my home. Oh, yeah, he went to Orlando, I think. Rob Markman, wow. They probably didn't smile. Who left? Trevor Reason. Yeah, he went. I gave him some money. I think he went to Milwaukee. Oh, yeah. He went to Orlando. Orlando.
Starting point is 01:55:27 Yeah. You got some crushes? Richard? Well, yeah. Since we're still talking, what were you, let's say, now that you're in the big three, is that a, depending on the rules and the half court, how do you like the big three compared to the NBA? Like your coaches.
Starting point is 01:55:43 Like, who's your favorite coach? Yeah. In the big three compared to the NBA? Like your coaches. Like who's your favorite coach? Yeah. In the big three? Both. Well, definitely in the big three right now, Charles Oakley is my coach. I love Charles. You know, I always say. He's a super legend.
Starting point is 01:55:54 He's a super legend. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I like Charles. Wait, Charles Oakley? Charles Oakley. Wait for the Knicks? He be going in. The Oak.
Starting point is 01:56:02 Oak tree is a coach? He be telling you exactly what's wrong. He ain't going to hold no punches. By the way, I need tickets. You ain't even offering me tickets. I got you tickets. All right, go. Keep it going.
Starting point is 01:56:10 It don't matter. Oak trees are good. I just got to star in some of my shit. Okay. Two tickets, baby. Okay, please. Go ahead. In the NBA, it's probably Phil Jackson is definitely, you know, he's up there.
Starting point is 01:56:23 Phil Jackson's dope. Carlisle is dope, too. Phil Jackson. The L know he's up there Phil Jackson's up Carlisle is dope too I just listened to Phil Jackson and the Lakers the Lakers you wasn't listening to Phil Jackson and the Knicks because he fucked up at the Knicks
Starting point is 01:56:33 the Knicks is a tough situation we should have fired him a long time ago I don't think ah man I was hoping he went to New York he got
Starting point is 01:56:41 well he got the last two rings in New York yeah but that was like 55 years ago yeah but you know we from New York yeah he went to New York. He got the last two rings in New York. Yeah, but that was like 55 years ago. Yeah, but you know, we from New York. He went home too. He was the last one to represent for us. Nah, I ain't going to lie. His knees were so fucked up.
Starting point is 01:56:53 He didn't want to be there. Like, I'm going to be honest. That's a person with bad knees. I know where I want to be at a certain place. When that nigga walked in there, that nigga didn't want to be there. He didn't have the high chair. I got fucked up, that nigga didn't want to be there. He didn't have the high chair. I got fucked up knees
Starting point is 01:57:06 and I don't want to be here. I got fucked up knees, but at least I want to be in these places that I go to. Right. And I seen the nigga, this is the crazy shit, I seen Phil Jackson,
Starting point is 01:57:17 I'm getting breakfast and I hate breakfast. So one day, I'm in the same region, just walking across the street, nigga Phil Jackson just walked right up to me. Kid you not, I walk outside, this is when I smoke cigarettes still.
Starting point is 01:57:29 So, I came outside, I went like this, I looked at this nigga, this nigga looked at me, I said, damn, I think Phil might fuck me up right now. I'm going to let this one go. I ain't going to lie, this nigga looked at me, I looked at him. I said, I can feel my habit. Let me let this one go. Because I look. We didn't even say nothing to each other. I just looked at him.
Starting point is 01:57:55 He looked at my face. He said, this is a real New York City fan. I looked. He looked at me. I said. I'm on some bullshit, man. I kid you not. I know you heard all those meditation stories, but...
Starting point is 01:58:14 I need to understand these meditation stories. All right, so he'll take you in there and he... This is one-on-one or this is with the team? The whole squad. Turning all the lights out. And he'll burn the sage. That's the shit there. He cleaning the room.
Starting point is 01:58:32 Yeah. And he just meditate, lock in, teach you how to breathe. Amazing experience. What is this called? The Zen? Zen Master. It's called Zen, I think. Zen.
Starting point is 01:58:42 Okay. Yeah, I think he's a Buddhist. But everything was so easy for him. The last play of the championship, I think. Zen, okay. Yeah, I think he's a Buddhist, you know? Right. But everything's so easy for him. The last play of the championship, I think, like, he wrote, he went out, last time out, I think he went to, he comes back, and I think he wrote just fight. Wasn't even on game plan.
Starting point is 01:58:57 Like, we already locked in. Right. He's an amazing coach. I don't know how he did it. He keep it real simple, and he ain't call no plays, and you just trust each other. Every team rings. Every team.
Starting point is 01:59:10 Were you disappointed when he went to the Knicks and he couldn't actually? It was a fat check. I wasn't disappointed. He got it. You know what I'm saying? I'm like, wow, Phil. At the end of your career, nobody's getting that type of money
Starting point is 01:59:23 at the end of their career. The nigga just never even got up out of his seat, I'm going to be honest. As a Knicks fan, listen, I'm going to be honest. I'm going to say this though. I lived in Miami for 12 years. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I would never be a Miami nigga. I love these guys.
Starting point is 01:59:37 I love you, nigga. You've been out here for a while. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I'm never going to be a Miami nigga. And they'll never reset me as a Miami nigga. And guess what? It's neutral. I respect that.
Starting point is 01:59:48 I respect that. But I go to bars where there's like New York, Miami people. And they just go at it. Oh, really? About sports? Sports. Sports. Sports, right?
Starting point is 02:00:02 So I sit there. And I'm like, when Phil came, I'm not going to lie. I felt like, oh, Phil. Yeah, I thought we was up. When they first announced it, I was happy. I was like, yeah. I'm looking at these dudes and motherfucking, what's the name of the bar? Come on, man.
Starting point is 02:00:22 Where's Sonny at? Sonny, you ain't here? The fuck is? Duffy's. Nigg the bar? Come on, man. Where's Sonny at? Sonny, you ain't here? The fuck is... Duffy's. Niggas know what I'm talking about. I'll teach you not. Every time it's a sports game, it's just New York niggas and Miami niggas. They just come in there, and they have the most beef for that moment, and then as soon
Starting point is 02:00:39 as it's over, they'll be like, all right, cool, cool, cool. Everybody just break out. I'm like, this is the best fucking experience in the world, because in New York, everybody shoots each other afterwards. You know what I'm saying? But this is Duffy's. I kid you not, I love this fucking spot. And they just go there.
Starting point is 02:00:57 I kid you not, they go there, and half of it is Miami. They're the Heat, and then the other half is the Knicks. And they just, they battle, and whoever wins that day, they're like, ah, cool, I owe you shots. They pay for all the shots, and it's cool. I had never... This is when I moved out here, and actually... I'm done. That was one of the first spots I did that. And when I experienced that, I appreciated it so much. Because in New York, if we're battling, it's like an end. We'd be buying you a shot.
Starting point is 02:01:40 Might end with one of us getting shot. That's a big, big thing. But how different was the experience? Because you lived in Indiana. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What are the places you lived in? I mean, I went to where I was at. I was Chicago first. Was you a chief keeper, them niggas?
Starting point is 02:02:00 Nah. I used to be in the hood, though. I don't know. Chief keepers young. So when I was 1999, I always wanted to be in the hood though. I don't know, Chief Keef is young. So like when I was in 1999, I would go, I always wanted to go to the hood. Now that I'm older, I don't know what I was doing. And Robert Taylor and Cabrini Green should have never been there. Rob Markman No, you should have Cabrini Green.
Starting point is 02:02:13 Yeah, Tractor Travis. But I was there a lot. Yeah, too much. Rob Markman I went to Cabrini Green. I'm going to tell you something. I didn't even know Cabrini Green was up there. Yeah, I didn't either. Rob Markman I went to Cabrini Green. I didn't even know competing was a hood. Yeah, I didn't either.
Starting point is 02:02:25 I went to competing green because I thought good times was there. That's what it was, right? That's what good times was. But honestly, I'm going to be honest with you. I never knew good times
Starting point is 02:02:36 was a hood until I moved outside of the hood. I was like, oh shit, it's only us who think like that. So when I went to competing green, I came out, I kid you not, asked Uncle Wise, asked my brother. The police just came and just threw me against the wall.
Starting point is 02:02:55 Rob Markman, Jr.: One way in, one way out to bring you here. No, no, no, because I had mad jewelry on. So the police thought I was the mind in. So I just came out. Rob Markman, Jr.: The what was the mind in. So I came out. The what? The mind in. You know, they thought I was that guy. They thought I was, they thought they, I got him.
Starting point is 02:03:16 So I'm like this moment, I'm like a search me. The whole hood came out. I couldn't, you know, that's why I love Chicago. The whole hood came out. What are you doing? That is N-O-R-E. And it was nothing but white people who were searching me, so I'm looking at them niggas like, please keep going. My nigga, I'm sitting there like, yo, my nigga needs to think, I'm going down. This is before
Starting point is 02:03:42 they start killing black niggas. This is right before. I'm that. This was before. And then they finally realized. They said, oh shit. This nigga's not even from here. Because they thought I was demining them from the project.
Starting point is 02:04:00 That's how ill I looked. I looked like I was from the town. And the police rolled up on me. I looked like I was from the town. And the police rolled up on me. Part of me said, shut up. Because them niggas would have smoked me. Kid you not. And so, bring it back.
Starting point is 02:04:21 So, what I'm trying to say is, sometimes the hood is actually a poison to us because we're so much involved in it that when we go back to it, we actually become part of what it was. Was that ever a problem for you? It was. It was from the standpoint of sometimes business. We just get into things and we shouldn't be getting into it right away without researching and being able to execute or actually executing or getting out the business when it's too
Starting point is 02:04:59 much. Rob Markman, Wow. Rob Markman, I always wanted to make it in the music business. I spent millions on that. Then I'm like, okay, I'm not spending no more on that. Rob Markman, Wow. Rob Markman, I always wanted to make it in the music business. I spent millions on that. Then I'm like, okay, I'm not spending no more on that. Rob Markman, You know what I'm saying? Then I went back to school and all that. I had to fix things in my life.
Starting point is 02:05:14 Rob Markman, Tell me one second. Why, as you're making so much money in the NBA, why would you even think about doing music? Rob Markman, It's funny. It's basically just how it works when you're an athlete and you get into the music business. Basically, you're just a traveling showman. Besides Shaq. Shaq did it right.
Starting point is 02:05:32 Shaq did the... He's the only one of... He did it right. He had a plaque, right? He's the only one that got a plaque. He got two plaques. Two times platinum. I didn't know that.
Starting point is 02:05:40 And he was respected in the coach. Yeah. You know... I tried to write Shaq a rhyme. I'm sorry. One time they hired me and I tried to write Shaq a rhyme and he was like, you ain't writing my shit. Rob Markman Shaq is nice.
Starting point is 02:05:55 Shaq actually told me that. Rob Markman Shaq food, bruh. So I seen the nigga like two weeks ago. The nigga, I ain't going to lie. I seen him in the closet, what's up Shaq? And the nigga just grabbed my hair. I said, damn Shaq, you can't do this. I'm just saying, when the nigga like, his size, he's like, yeah.
Starting point is 02:06:15 I'm like, I'm like, leave my shit alone. It's my name, Kanori. I walked in, I was like, what? I was like, what? I can't have this picture existing on TMZ where Shaq like this. Shaq's sending you. Shaq be like, Shaq. He's just too big. He a big teddy bear, man.
Starting point is 02:06:37 No, he does that. He does that. So. Crazy. You've done all this in the NBA. You see people do what... You ever thought about doing like... What is they called? What?
Starting point is 02:06:56 Broadcasting? Broadcasting, nah. Nah? Nah. I like it. I do like it. The NBA is fucking fantastic. But you know, I kind of like
Starting point is 02:07:05 you mean a commentator commentator yeah yeah I want to have a t-shirt on and a hat like I don't want to do a lot of things that's why podcasts are good
Starting point is 02:07:12 no no you know what I'm saying like sometimes I feel like I got to always do something commentator sometimes I just want to come I want to come you're a good podcaster
Starting point is 02:07:18 you're right you're a good podcaster yeah yeah you're a great podcaster I just be wanting to chill you know I don't like dressing up when I don't have to. You know, because honestly, you know, like wearing a suit to me is like, you know, if you have to wear it, I feel like it's like almost like oppression.
Starting point is 02:07:34 Like, you know, why do I have to wear a suit? I want to coach you like a hoodie on. You know what I'm saying? Straight up. Is that something you're interested in? Coaching? Some sweatpants. Just chilling.
Starting point is 02:07:47 Coaching in sweatpants? I would love to. Something like that. I can coach, definitely. But I got opportunities to coach. I'm having a good time. But I'm coaching a bunch of kids. I got an app in digital analytics.
Starting point is 02:08:01 So I went back to UCLA for digital analytics. Wow. And then I went back. That was on Mondays at 6 p.m. And then Wednesdays was social media. And then I would travel to Vancouver to take Google Analytics. And then on Saturdays was- That's the company you was talking about earlier.
Starting point is 02:08:14 Yeah. Yeah. And then on Saturdays was business analytics at Concordia Irvine, which I was in Orange County. And I was just trying to lock in, yo, because I just wasn't, you know. I knew, like, I can get in the business. I love investing. But I got to learn, so I just wasn't, you know. I knew, like, I can get in the business. I love investing. But I got to learn, so I had to be aggressive.
Starting point is 02:08:28 Have you learned? Hell yeah. Hell yeah. Yeah, I had to be aggressive, you know, with the education, this side. And I treat it just like defense. I want to know everything. I want to lock it down. Oh, look at that guy.
Starting point is 02:08:41 Yeah. You got a little question? Because this is so beautiful, man. I ain't going to lie. I had a drink, and I feel good, man. Yeah, I would like to get deep in the art and the Artest Foundation, but I don't know how that works. Honestly, I'm chilling, man.
Starting point is 02:09:02 I'm chilling. Not you, your foundation, the art. I can tell you. You want me to tell you? Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, chilling, man. I'm chilling. Not you, your foundation. I can tell you. You want me to tell you? Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever. Yeah, so yeah.
Starting point is 02:09:09 I got two foundations. When I first came out to the league, I was paying for people to go to school because somebody paid for me to go to school. I pay for whoever wants to go to school. I take them to go to school. I ain't know nothing about taxes or 501c3s, so this is just out of my pocket. So I was always in the charity. And then finally, I'm like, I wasn't getting no tax returns. and see threes. So this is just out of my pocket. So I was always in the charity. And
Starting point is 02:09:25 then finally, I wasn't getting no tax returns. So I learned about that, and then I started getting tax returns and stuff. So I started Excel University, and when I won a championship, raised $700,000 with my ring, gave all the money to mental health institutions and prisons and stuff. You're being guided or this is all you from the heart? This is me. I thought of it pretty much, yeah. Somebody said, hey, I'll give you $50,000 for the ring.
Starting point is 02:09:54 I'm like, I think I could do more with a raffle. And they was like, nah, nobody ever... The biggest somebody ever got was $55,000. Said, all right, whatever. So I just say, $2 a raffle. You pay $2 or a dollar. And Puff actually offered me $250. And I knew I was going to make more. And I made $700,000 in three months.
Starting point is 02:10:13 I could have made more. But I gave all the money away. And my dad is doing his foundation now, the Artest Foundation. And I'm trying to build universities, digital universities, so it's cheaper for people to go to school, and you can still play sports, and still generate revenue, and
Starting point is 02:10:31 still learn. Because education is so hard to access. You know what I'm saying? So hard to access. Especially if you've been locked up. Once you get left back, you know what happens when you get left back. You're going to get left back. I was left back twice. Or you go to jail, you're going to get left back. You can't make up the tests. I you get left back. I was left back twice. Or you go to jail, you're going to get left back. You can't make up the test.
Starting point is 02:10:47 I definitely went to jail. I was left back twice. You know what I'm saying? It takes you too long to make it up. And when you're hungry, you can't get educated. When you're hungry, you're going to do something stupid. I applaud you for all of that. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 02:10:57 Yeah, so that was it, man. Me and my dad got heads. I got mine. So before we leave about it, I need to ask you. Yeah. Who's the hardest player you ever guarded? The hardest player? Man, that's tough.
Starting point is 02:11:13 I mean, definitely LeBron, Kobe, and Jordan. Those three stand out. Definitely. Even Jordan at 40. I remember the moves he would do. Jordan and Jordan. Jordan and Jordan, they can they can mr. Jordan Kobe Kobe have a chance and it's inches though we're not talking far it's like LeBron Jordan right there I just feel like Jordan
Starting point is 02:11:36 Jordan was pretty amazing you know I'm saying I'm saying, I'm saying, because you just flossed on us. Nigga flossed on us crazy. All right, listen. He got the play. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, I'm just saying. I said, who's the hardest player? Nigga said, Jordan, LeBron, Kobe.
Starting point is 02:11:56 Nigga, you can't just say no shit like that and just act like it's normal, nigga. Hold on, hold on. That's three of the top players in the world. That's how it goes. Can you tell us the difference of you guarding? Did you have a different therapy, a different method, excuse me, of guarding different players in this? Yeah, yeah. No, you're good, yeah.
Starting point is 02:12:16 So like, I wasn't as athletic as those guys. When you played against Jordan, he was in the Wizards. He was in the Wizards. When you played against Kobe, he was in the Lakers. He was in the Wizards. When you played against Kobe, he was in the Lakers. Played against LeBron. Cleveland. And then a little bit in Miami, but by that time, my career. Okay, good.
Starting point is 02:12:34 So Jordan's more efficient. Start with Jordan. Jordan's more efficient. The Wizards. Yeah, more efficient. He's supposed to be washed up. Very strong. Why? You know, and got defense. And then Kobe's more like, better three-point shooter, more New York handle type. Kobe played way differently than Jordan. In my mind, let me ask you something.
Starting point is 02:12:52 Jordan's just a little more efficient. Are they talking shit? Paul Pierce talked the most trash. Paul talks all the time. I didn't really hear much from Jordan, didn't really hear much from Kobe. LeBron- LeBron Pierce is a gang man too, right? He gang. Gang, gang, gang, gang. My bad. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 02:13:12 Yeah, he talk a lot. So, did Jordan talk shit to you? Not really, man, because I didn't talk to him. When I first met Jordan, I was 19, and I was the only one that could guard Jordan in the gym. Wow. 2019 and I was the only one that could guard Jordan in the gym. So he loved when I came. When I would... He would call, hey, you coming back? Because I was the only one that pushed him, so he always asked me to come to the games.
Starting point is 02:13:36 Rob Markman, Jr.: Wow. But you got to defend the AI? I did AI a little bit, but AI was out of my position, but it was nobody... I was still the best defender on my team, so I had to guard AI because nobody else could guard him. So I had some good games. One game, he had 17 points. That was big for me because he was averaging 30.
Starting point is 02:13:54 You know what I'm saying? So at 17, I felt good about that. And then obviously he had games where he had 30. Was there ever, I'm never going to end it, unless you got more. Yeah, you got content. Was there ever anybody that you felt like, damn, I can't cover him. I never want to play against him again. There's never nobody I feel like I never want to play against,
Starting point is 02:14:17 but there's people I knew I couldn't win against. Who? Like LeBron's definitely one of them. LeBron on where? LeBron's definitely one of them. Like, you know, like to... LeBron on where? LeBron everywhere. Everywhere. For real. Since he first came in the league.
Starting point is 02:14:32 Since he first came in the league, his first game against me, he had 25. Now, I had good games against him, but I'm just saying his first game against the best defender in the league, he has 25, and he points to Indiana. We in Indiana. He says, is this your best defender? You understand? I wish I had a gun. I ain't going to lie. I ain't going to lie.
Starting point is 02:14:52 I ain't going to lie. That's the bridge. No. No, I'm just saying, like, you know what I'm saying? It's like, you know, I was so mad he said that. You know, and he pushed me. Wait, this is after the game? This is during the game.
Starting point is 02:15:04 During the game. Probably after the score. During the game. Wait, describe me to this, please. Yeah is during the game. During the game. During the game. Describe me to this, please. Yeah, during the game. I was heated. During the game, so this halftime, they asked, and he said, yeah, that is the best of the best. Yeah, I was heated.
Starting point is 02:15:17 Like, you know, this kid just came and he was busting my ass. He wasn't busting my ass, but he was efficient. He was doing his thing. Did his thing. But I had some games. One game I had, he had no assists. So when you keep him to no assists, because he didn't always want to shoot. So I'm like, everybody stay with their man.
Starting point is 02:15:38 And he could have had 40, but he was trying to pass. So he had no assists. I think it was the only time he had no assists in the game. He had to get in Houston.. So he had no assists. I think it was the only time he had no assists in the game. Yeah, in Houston. But then I had sometimes. Sometimes. You know what I mean? I want to go find that game.
Starting point is 02:15:51 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I want to go find that game. Zero assists. You got anything else? Can you say Dream Big Hip Hop? Oh, you said Dream Big? Yeah. Yeah, hell yeah, hell yeah.
Starting point is 02:15:59 Shout out to Dream Big Hip Hop. Yo, what's up? It's Metta World P. Shout out to Dream Big Hip Hop. God damn. Shout out to Dream Big Hip Hop. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, hell yeah, hell yeah. Shout out to Dream Big Hip Hop. Yo, what's up? It's Metta World Peace.
Starting point is 02:16:08 Shout out to Dream Big Hip Hop. Goddamn. You want one more question? You sure? No. Before we get out of here, get one more question. I'll get one more question. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 02:16:21 Can you sit down with me and have a little piece on my podcast? Of course. Yeah. I love the question. That's not a question. You're going too far now, Paul. I'll do our sports question. You know what? Honestly, I always wanted to be on Drink Champs.
Starting point is 02:16:32 I ain't going to lie to you. When I seen Drink Champs come out and I didn't get the call from the end, I was like, I got to get on Drink Champs. I was waiting for you. I got to get on Drink Champs. And then when he hit me up, my man Rock hit me up on the way.
Starting point is 02:16:44 No, no, no. I'm like, hell yeah, I'm going to the drink chain. I was at Jermaine. We supposed to go to this club right now. I said, yo, I'm going to the drink chain. No, no, no. I'm going to be honest, bro. I'm happy, man.
Starting point is 02:16:52 I appreciate it. I just want you to know how important you are to the hood. Absolutely. Because a lot of people, and that's what the part about us being the people that are supposed to be successful. Sometimes we don't know how important we are to that asset that we're attached to. That's right. And you, I'm just being honest
Starting point is 02:17:16 with you. When they think about music, they think about not. They think about athletic. You are the number one dude queen.
