Drink Champs - Episode 3 w/ DMX
Episode Date: April 8, 2016N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN drink it up with Dark Man X aka DMX. It was no easy task finding and pinning DMX down to talk to the guys and the audio of this show proves that but the guys managed to hit record ...and catch a very unfiltered DMX. X talks about battling Jay Z, being compared to 2Pac, and even prayed for the Drink Champs. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/drinkchamps/support Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.comSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We're fighting back.
I'm George M. Johnson, author of the most banned book in America.
On my podcast, Fighting Words, I sit down with voices that spark resistance and inspire change.
This year, we are showing up and showing out.
You need people being like, no, you're not what you tell us what to do.
This regime is coming down on us.
And I don't want to just survive.
I want to thrive.
Fighting Words is where courage meets conversation.

I know a lot of cops.
They get asked all the time,
have you ever had to shoot your gun?
Sometimes the answer is yes.
But there's a company dedicated to a future
where the answer will always be no.
This is Absolute Season 1, Taser Incorporated.
I get right back there and it's bad.

Springtime tips and fun facts from Paul, Kristen, and Dexter
at Total Wine & More.
Garnishing your ham with pineapple?
Pair it with a delicious Chardonnay to make their taste buds swirl.
Deviled eggs are even better when paired with a light, dry wine
like a bubbly Prosecco or a Pinot Grigio. For me, nothing beats recommending a great wine.
And with such an extensive selection, I can help you find the perfect one in your budget.
Whether you're hosting or just bringing the wine,
we love to share our always low prices and ridiculous selection.
This spring at Total Wine & More.
Cheers. The most professional, unprofessional podcast. This is Drinks Champ Radio, where every day is New Year's Eve.
Let's go!
What it could be, hopefully it's what it should be.
This is your boy Slip N.R.A.
What up, it's DJ EFN.
That was Bel Air.
And this is the motherfucking Drinks Champ!
Yo, EFN, I just would like to start this off by saying, can I get a cup, sir?
Can you give me a cup?
Sonny D, Sonny D.
Come on.
I would like to start this off by saying I'm very proud of you.
Proud of you too, man.
And the things that we accomplished.
My brother.
In these past episodes, we've had Fat Joe.
Yes, we have.
And not just Fat Joe, Rare Form Fat Joe. Yes, we have. And not just Fat Joe. Rare Form Fat Joe.
Rare Form.
He announced the album.
Yes.
With us first.
With us first.
Which if people get confused.
People are hating.
It wasn't when the episode actually aired that he had already told us that.
No, that's not true.
So people don't get confused.
Oh, this is yours.
Okay. No, that's not true. That's so people don't get confused. Oh, this is yours. Okay, so right now, we have committed podcast history.
We have.
We've made podcasts.
We gorilla casting.
We gorilla casting.
We coined a new term in podcasting.
Portable cast, gorilla cast.
Gorilla casting.
You know what I'm saying?
Here, here, here.
Come on, man.
Pop that other bottle.
That doesn't seem like it's enough.
So, I would like to congratulate you.
And I would like to congratulate you.
Salud.
Salud.
What is that?
That's Bacardi?
Bacardi, my friend.
That's Bacardi.
All right.
With a little Colombian white.
Congratulations on the deal.
You know what the most craziest thing is?
We've been very unselfish.
We have not mentioned anything.
I haven't mentioned my Twitter name, our Instagram.
Nothing, nothing.
We're coming home.
We're horrible promoters of self.
We're horrible promoters of ourselves.
So I would like to see on Instagram, you got the Colombian white thing going on.
Let's announce that.
Which is a mutual friend of ours as well.
Of course, that's right.
Kendall, for Kendall family.
Kendall folks started a local brand called Colombian White. It's Aguadiente, which all the Colombian folks out there know.
And I've been talking to them for several years, and they've positioned themselves now in a place where they're ready to move forward.
And I joined the team.
Hazardous sounds, Hayden. He still hasn't received a bottle.
This is true?
This is true.
This is very true.
This is very true this is very true um he gave me two bottles but and my wife gave one back
because she said she didn't know um when she was see hazardous again i said you never give
look her back baby that's not what happened but congratulations on that thank you i want you to
talk about the coming home uh yeah you was nothing you interviewing me yeah i would like you know
what we need to promote we need to this is So, you know, Coming Home, which is on Revolt TV,
is a series.
Let's big up Revolt.
Big up to Revolt.
Let's make some noise.
Shout out to Puff.
Puff Daddy.
He's involved in everybody's life
in some way.
It's crazy.
In some way.
It's crazy.
That's right.
So, yeah,
Coming Home is a series.
You know,
it's a travel series
where we travel to different countries.
Right.
The Crazy Little Film Academy crew.
And we're exploring hip-hop
in different countries, seeing how they do hip-, and we exploring hip-hop in different countries,
seeing how they do hip-hop.
Big up Drain.
Big Drain, Charlie Skins, Garcia.
Garcia.
And different people from Crazy Hood traveled to different countries.
That's right.
Big up Crazy Hood, man.
Went to Cuba first.
Very proud of you guys.
Went to Peru with Beats in the Hood.
Went to Haiti.
That was the last one that just happened.
Beats in the Hood right now.
He just made his chick get a tattoo.
That's hardcore.
That's hardcore.
And we just came back from Vietnam, so that's the next one that just beats in the hood right now he just made his chick get a tattoo that's hardcore and we just came back
from Vietnam
so that's the next one
I was scared for you
when you went to Vietnam
and I was scared for you
when you went to Haiti
you were more scared for Haiti
I was way more scared
you told me that before
and after you saw the trailer
you were still scared
I was still scared
and you saw me right next to you
and I saw you
it was safe
so definitely shout out
your Instagram
your Twitter
and everything
also my album is important too
I know we don't get to your album
But the Another Time album
Came out last year
But I need people
To check that out as well
Artwork is still crazy
Another Time
Check it out
So it's
I'm at DJ EFN on Twitter
DJ EFN on Twitter
And
My Instagram is
At who's crazy
Okay
And then what else
And then our drink champs
Is at drink champs
Across the board
Drink champs
See we got a big
Yo the drink champs IG is blowing up.
You know what I need to do?
Shout out to all the listeners out there.
Shout out.
When we get footage from now on, let's let Drink Champs blast it out first, and then
us two come after that.
Yeah.
Now, who did that artwork on Another Time?
My boy, Scam.
He did the artwork on Eminem's first album.
Whoa.
He did a track called Quest Beach Rhyme and Life.
Wow.
And he did a bunch of stuff,
but those are iconic projects in hip hop.
Yeah, but that artwork is, I still look at it to this day, and I still look at it like-
It's crazy. It's a character that we created called Norm that he's in almost every Crazy
Hood project.
Wow.
I didn't know that.
I would like people to check that out, crazyhood.com or going to iTunes.
I'm learning too much from this podcast. I'm learning too much.
Just so people know.
Yeah, go ahead.
There's a lot of people that are discovering me for the first time through the podcast.
But we got to let them know that our history goes back.
I mean, so let them know how far back we go.
Now we go back.
I want to say 20 years, but I'm going to say 10 because I'm trying to be younger.
Yeah.
25 years to be correct.
Yeah.
Give me a high five.
It was.
Yeah.
Yes.
96, 97.
And it's all coming to fruition.
We all knew we was going to do business together
Eventually someday
I mean we were always doing something
We were always doing something
But this is monumental right now
It is
I'm excited to take this journey with you
So with that being said
I just changed my Instagram
To TheRealNoriega
That's T-H-E-R-E-A-L
Not I-E?
No
T-H-E-R-E-A-L Noriega N-O-R-E-A-E-A-L Not I-E? No, T-H-E-R-E-A-L
Noriega, N-O-R-E-A-G-A
But you can still hit me at
Mr. Super Slime and just bother
my friend Sonny.
He's running it.
Yo, he came up on IG.
I plugged him in.
And on Twitter, I'm at Noriega, that's N-O-R-E-A-G-A
And on Snapchat,
which I hardly use,
I'm New Year Norie. But how's N-O-R-E-A-G-A. And on Snapchat, which I hardly use, I'm New Year Norie.
But how does it feel to have Mr. Super Slime?
It feels great, actually. To be my second.
The people want to hear what I got to say.
By the way, this is the legendary Sonny D. BET.
You might have caught me sleeping a couple times.
The Haitian prince.
I'm here for y'all.
Follow back.
Shout out to also.
In these past couple of weeks, E, what's been changing for you?
What has been different?
I mean, nothing's really been different.
I've just been more busy.
I would have to agree with you.
We've been extremely busy.
Yes, we have.
We're juggling.
Well, your project came out as well.
Oh, yes.
Drunk Uncle.
Drunk Uncle is out.
It's out for free if you ain't got it.
And if you're a real fan, you can also go to iTunes and get that and Google Play and
Tidal and Spotify.
But yeah, I've been very busy as well.
And you got the TV show?
We got the TV show that I was supposed to film this weekend.
Now, we're actually supposed to film it the 23rd, 24th, or the first week in May.
So yeah, I'm having fun doing that.
And this podcast has been like therapy for me.
Phenomenal.
And we committed.
And we're committed.
High five.
We don't even need to make noise.
Just high five.
You gave me a handshake.
High five.
This is like ballplayers.
Yeah, high five.
So listen, this episode is so special to me because I'm a big fan of DMX.
We actually talked about him for two episodes straight.
It's crazy.
We spoke it into fruition.
We spoke it into fruition.
We had no idea this guy was going to land in Miami.
Dreams come true.
Dreams come true.
So he came to Miami.
I just want to tell people.
He told one of my best friends, Ali, I don't want to do podcasts.
I don't want to fuck around.
And I was like, damn.
So I was like, there's no way I could do it.
But then I said to myself, I said, yo, you know what?
I'm going to go see him.
I would like him to tell me no to my face.
And I went to go see him.
Who's breathing hard like that?
Is that you?
The Haitian prince?
I'm sorry.
I got to call you.
I'm a little under the weather.
So I go see him, and I say, yo, my brother.
And it's crazy because I didn't feel the right time to talk to him.
And he gets a phone call.
I think it was one of his cousins.
And he tells one of his cousins, he says, I don't do radio.
I don't do that.
I don't do that.
He goes, I don't do interviews.
And I said, God damn, this is the worst possible time.
I could probably ask, but I'm fake for being around but not asking.
And I had to get to the point.
You were a podcaster first at that moment.
You know, I actually called Charlamagne the God.
This is 100% real shit.
I didn't tell you this.
But I said, how do you separate
being like a journalist from
being somebody's friend?
And I don't know if he was
being smart with me or I don't
know if he was really keeping
it real, but he said, you don't.
And I said,
I was confused.
He said, you got to be both.
So that's what I did.
Like, 100% I wanted to hold down X
because X is a phenomenal figure in hip hop,
most influential.
But I also wanted to get my job done.
I have a commitment to the listeners
that's tuned in.
And it was like, you know what?
We talked about him for two episodes
and I didn't want to make it seem like as if we were talking about him.
Right.
But we weren't addressing exactly what we were talking about.
And it just so happened he came here and it happened.
It's crazy.
Because we went to New York and we were trying to do it.
We were trying to get him in New York.
A lot of people don't know that.
Yeah.
Yes, go ahead.
So, no, it's crazy to me because I'm telling you, the way that from the first moment that we started doing this show or these podcasts, his name kept coming up.
It kept coming up.
Not on purpose.
No.
He's a legend.
And the way that they talk about him is like we would never be able to get him down, lock him down for this.
And then everybody had a DMX story.
Hold on. You have a DMX story? And now I had a DMX story. Hold on.
You have a DMX story?
And now I have a DMX story.
Yo!
You're terrible.
And it's crazy because, remember, I was the Def Jam rep for South Florida for many years.
And I had interactions, minor interactions with X, but he was still X back then, so it
wasn't like-
He's still X now.
Right.
You want some wine?
Yeah, I'm sorry.
Yeah, come on.
Why are you bothering me? Because he wants some champagne. Listen, by the way, Bel Air
provided the champagne. Let me pick up Young Sav and Ricky Rosé, because without Ricky
Rosé, it wouldn't be Cosign. So I'm going to pick up Young Sav, Ricky Rosé, because without Ricky Rosé, it wouldn't be co-signed. So I'm going to big up Young Sav, Ricky Rosé.
And when you say Young Sav and Ricky Rosé, Young Sav is from New York and Ricky Rosé is from Miami.
So again, we winning again.
Shout out to Ross.
Also, I want to big up to my boy Keith from Moet, who wants to provide us with some stuff.
So big up Keith from Moet,
Sean Don, obviously,
and big up Young Sav and Ricky Ross.
But shout out to everybody getting to CBS to be official sponsors of the show.
Yeah, shout out to the people
that's trying to be official sponsors.
Shout out to the people that,
and I have podcast fans.
You know, I have Nori fans.
I have people who like Norian movies.
I have people who like Norian interviews. And now I have people who like Norian movies I have people who like Norian interviews
And now I have people
Who like Nori
The podcaster
So um
And that you are
My brother now
Yes we are
We are both podcasters
With no further ado
We're gonna have fun
In this episode
I want y'all to know
That the thoughts
Provided by
Darkman X
DMX
Is his thoughts
It doesn't reflect on
What Crazy Hood, Thug Doubt, Militainment
CBS
Drink Champs
We just let
X be as raw
As he wanted to be
We let him be as uncut as he wanted to be
And we let him be as real
As he wanted to be, correct?
And do we want to set up
how the environment that it was?
Yes, you know what?
It was crazy.
Let me big up to all those
who listened to the first episode
with Fat Joe
because this is how I said
I have to do this.
I took a picture with DMX
and it was by a pool table.
Right.
I know what you're going to say.
Now, when I sent it on Instagram,
I said, look,
me and DMX playing pool again.
Now, everybody who liked the picture
responded.
I knew that they had to
actually hear the podcast.
This is the first time
I ever said this DMX story.
So, when I got over a thousand likes
and I got over so many comments,
I said, I have to actually execute.
So this episode went down in the Alof Hotel.
But first, we started on Thursday.
No, we tried.
The attempt started on Thursday.
And then when did we get it?
Saturday or Friday?
No, Friday.
We got it the next day.
Let's make some noise for us.
Get it the next day.
You actually told me, yo E, he's here for the weekend.
So the whole weekend, we on standby.
Yes, I thought we was going to get it Monday.
I'm going to be honest.
But so we got it.
And I'm very proud of us.
I'm very proud of you.
We all came together.
We all came together.
We worked as an army.
Crazyhood, thugged out military.
We worked as an entertainment. Hazardous sounds. Even though he wasn't there, we was missing you. Shout out to Black was teamwork for real. We came together, we worked as an army. Crazyhood, thugged out military, hazardous sounds, even though he wasn't there.
We was missing you.
Shout out to Black Relax, Matt Harris.
Shout out to Matt.
I'm sorry I was hard on you, Matt.
Charlie Skins, I didn't give him a t-shirt.
Yo, I did, I did.
I really, I felt sorry for Charlie.
Charlie, I felt sorry, my brother.
I was going to buy you a shirt, but then I thought about it.
I said, let me let them deal with it.
It's internal.
Shout out to Big Drain who took photos that day. He deal with it. It's internal. Shout out to Big Drain
who took photos that day.
He became a photographer all of a sudden.
Shout out to Big Drain.
Yo, we all came together.
It was a stressful day
but we all came together.
We made it happen.
So this is our weekly update.
We usually don't update you motherfuckers
on nothing.
We just give you a podcast
and we tell you motherfuckers
to deal with it.
We got professional.
That's not our thing.
We're still drinking.
Pop a bottle though.
We're the most professional, unprofessional podcast.
Yo, pop a motherfucking bottle.
We need to hear it on.
Listen, don't pop it by the equipment.
We'll pop it next to the equipment.
Yeah, Sonny, just pop it right all over the fucking computer.
Yeah, thank you, Hazardous Sound.
But pop it by the mic so they hear it.
Because this is Young Sav, Renzel.
They hit me.
They said the podcast is wonders, especially Young Sav.
Everybody's hitting me, too, man.
Everybody's showing love.
Showing love.
So what we're going to do, also, I want to shout out, it is Mizzy.
He did an impersonation of me.
Oh, I seen it.
It is Mizzy.
I have no one.
It's perfect.
He did an impersonation of me, and I'm not going to lie.
When I first hit it, pause.
When I hit the video, I didn't look.
So when he said, that's a fact.
Thank you for pointing it out.
I said, oh, my God.
Who is doing that?
And I said, oh, shit, it's not me.
Yo, but how the fuck does a person impersonate you from two episodes?
That means he was watching a lot.
That means he was tuned in.
So it is Mizzy.
I want to make sure I'm saying it right.
And while you're checking that, I really want to shout out all the listeners out there.
All the listeners.
We see all your tweets.
We get all your IG comments.
We get emails, whatever, whether you're industry folk or whether you're just regular cast listening.
We appreciate every single one of y'all because y'all building the
foundation for this gorilla cast. Drink champs.
It is Millie. I'm sorry.
It is Millie, man. I appreciate it.
A lot of people don't know I enjoy
being impersonated. I enjoy being the
butt of the jokes. Now he killed it. I understand.
Thank you. He really did.
I was like, no, he got a haircut?
No, not a haircut.
I grew hair.
Because you got braids and shit.
You got extension.
I enjoy being the butt of the joke because I have a lot of jokes.
So without no further ado, Crazy Hood, Thugged Out Militain, Man, Hazardous Sound, Sunny
DBT, CBS, Carlito, my man Steve Louise, Papa Keith.
One more.
We got one more shot at it.
Yes, let's do it.
I'm going to be Godfrey from Gamer Tag Radio, who set us up with CBS.
Shout out to you, Godfrey.
Big him up.
So without no further ado, we're not going to edit none of this.
Even in the beginning of this interview, and even somewhere throughout the interview, the audio goes off.
For all those that's listening, when we say make some noise or clap, you're supposed to have seven shots already poured on your desk.
Have fun with us.
Yeah, already poured on your desk.
And you're supposed to take a shot every time we clap.
Now, if you're not a drinker, then take a smoke every time we clap.
If you're not a smoker, then do a push-up every time we clap.
You're going to get a shake.
A ginger shot.
Yeah, do something.
But without no further ado, we're not going to edit anything of this DMX interview.
We're going to keep it 100% raw for you guys to enjoy.
And log on to us.
We are drinkchamps.com.
Subscribe.
It's totally free.
And make some noise for DJ EFN, man.
Make some noise for N-O-R-E.
We are the drink champs. We are the drink champs.
We are the drink champs.
No further ado, we're going to present to you DMX in the front of...
I'm a Starwood Platinum member, so I would like to big up the Alof Hotels for allowing us to take over the lobby.
We thugged out the lobby.
We thugged out the lobby, allowing us to do that,
allowing us to play pool at 3 o'clock in the morning
and allowing us to have Darkman X be him.
So without no further ado, you got anything more to say?
I just want to shout out Ali one more time.
Oh, shout out Ali.
Shout out Mr. Lee.
I was going to punch him in his foot.
Shout out Mr. Lee.
Shout out Ali.
Shout out Jordan, the pharmacist,
man, for everybody helping out.
And shout out
to Sonny DBT for changing his
socks today. Mr. Super

The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration in the United States.
Recipients have done the improbable,

This medal is for the men who went down that day.
It's for the families of those who didn't make it.
I'm J.R. Martinez. I'm a U.S. Army veteran myself.
And I'm honored to tell you the stories of these heroes on the new season of Medal of Honor Stories of Courage from
Pushkin Industries and iHeart Podcast. From Robert Blake, the first black sailor to be awarded the
medal, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice.
These are stories about people who have distinguished themselves by acts of valor,
going above and beyond the call of duty.
You'll hear about what they did, what it meant, and what their stories tell us about the nature
of courage and sacrifice. Listen to Medal of Honor on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A lot of times the big economic forces we hear about on the news show up in our
lives in small ways. Three or four days a week, I would buy two cups of banana pudding, but the
price has gone up. So now I only buy one. The demand curve in action. And that's just one of
the things we'll be covering on Everybody's business from Bloomberg Businessweek. I'm Max Chavkin.
And I'm Stacey Vanek-Smith.
Every Friday, we will be diving into the biggest stories in business,
taking a look at what's going on, why it matters, and how it shows up in our everyday lives.
But guests like Businessweek editor Brad Stone, sports reporter Randall Williams,
and consumer spending expert Amanda Mull will take you inside the boardrooms,
the backrooms, even the signal chats that make our economy tick.
Hey, I want to learn about VeChain. I want to buy some blockchain or whatever it is.
So listen to everybody's business on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
The American West with Dan Flores is the latest show from the MeatEater
Podcast Network, hosted by me, writer and historian Dan Flores, and brought to you by Velvet Buck.
This podcast looks at a West available nowhere else. Each episode, I'll be diving into some of
the lesser-known histories of the West. I'll then be joined in conversation by guests
such as Western historian Dr. Randall Williams and best-selling author and meat-eater founder
Stephen Ranella. I'll correct my kids now and then where they'll say when cave people were here
and I'll say it seems like the Ice Age people that were here didn't have a real affinity for caves.
So join me starting Tuesday, May 6th, where we'll delve into stories
of the West and come to understand how it helps inform the ways in which we experience the region
today. Listen to The American West with Dan Flores on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts. I know a lot of cops and they get asked all the time. Have you ever had to shoot your gun?
Sometimes the answer is yes, but there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always
be no. Across the country, cops called this taser the revolution. But not everyone was convinced it
was that simple. Cops believed everything that
Taser told them. From Lava for Good
and the team that brought you Bone Valley
comes a story about what happened when a
multi-billion dollar company dedicated
itself to one visionary
mission. This is
Absolute Season 1. Taser
Incorporated.
I get right back
there and it's bad.
It's really, really, really bad.
Listen to new episodes of Absolute Season 1, Taser Incorporated,

We're back to Drink Champs Radio
with rapper N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN.
Hey, hey, it's your boy N.O.R.E.
What up, it's DJ EFN.
And this is the Drink Champs motherfucking podcast.
And we getting drunk in a motherfucking Alof Hotel.
Make some motherfucking noise, WXYZ Bar.
And listen, man, we talked about this guy for two episodes straight.
Holy shit.
We talked about him in the episode with Fat Joe.
We talked about him with the episode with Jadakiss.
And now he's in here in the flesh.
And he's Aki Mimo, how do you say it?
Hold on, hold on.
Is it Darkman X?
No, no, I don't know.
Let him talk for himself because we got him in the building.
Drink Chance Podcast.
You got that, you got that.
He don't do podcasts. He don't. You got that. You got that.
He don't do podcasts.
He don't do podcasts. He don't do interviews.
I don't do radio.
What the fuck is a podcast, Dark Man?
I don't do radio.
Make some noise for DMX.
Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo.
Hold on.
No, no, no.
Clap your fucking hands.
One, two, three.
DMX.
Yo, yo, yo, Dark Man X, man.
Thank you for being here, man.
We know you don't do interviews, man.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, brother.
Let's get straight to the point, man.
To honor the blessing.
First, let me say that.
Let me say that.
How I fuck with this kid.
How I fuck with my man right here.
N-O-R-E, N-O-R-E.
Thank you.
But now we on the run, Ian.
That's right.
And I was able to better understand how my music could influence people to the point
where they will tell me that a song might have saved their life because one of his songs
saved mine.
Thank you, man.
Saved mine.
You told me that earlier.
Listen, I'm going to get this out there.
The first time I ever met DMX.
I love my life.
The first of my life.
The first time I ever met DMX.
Live my whole life.
I'm satisfied. Look at him. He know me. I'm not going to lie. Listen, listen, the first time I ever met DMX.
Look at him.
He know me.
I'm not going to lie.
I feel like I got a DMX story now.
You got a DMX story. This right now is a DMX story.
Yes, yes.
It's very hard to get it done.
One of many.
One of many.
One of many.
But listen, the first time I ever met him.
Not because I'm hard to reach, but because I don't fuck with clowns.
To me, I don't, you know.
So we certified right now.
Let's make some noise for being certified.
Yo, DMX, the first time I ever met you, man, was in Bad Eerie Studios.
Your dog walked in our session.
When he walked in the session, I believe one of my friends kicked him or pushed him.
Oh, no, they didn't kick him.
The dog would have bit him.
The dog would have bit him.
That's a fact.
They acted unfavorably.
But the dog came back to you
and the first words
you ever said to me
when you walked in the room,
you was like,
y'all niggas don't like dogs?
And I was like,
holy shit.
Right, I acknowledge you.
I acknowledge you first.
I acknowledge you first.
Real, real recognized.
I acknowledge you first.
Like, yo, what up?
I'm like, yo,
niggas don't like dogs?
Right, right.
What's the problem?
Right, right, right, right.
You know?
He didn't have LL, 5.321.
You ain't had none of that.
No, I might have had that.
The Mike Girardi one, Joey?
Yep, yep.
That's what the noise is about.
Yeah.
That's some respect.
Shut the fuck up.
Drive by.
Money's over that joint.
Your back to trouble.
So, X, we live in the broadcast.
There's noise in the background.
I don't care.
Right, right.
We need that.
That's how you know it's live, baby. That's how you know it's live, baby.
That's how you know it's live.
You were the first dude to drop two albums that both went platinum in the same year.
The first, yes.
How the fuck did that happen?
Bring us through that.
What happened was, by the time I got my deal, I felt like I was vindicated.
I was like, yes, finally.
That's a big word. Finally. I felt like I was vindicated. I was like, yes, finally. That's a big word.
Finally.
Yeah, I felt like it was owed to me.
Big mistake on my behalf, but that's another story.
But an offer was made to me that if I could, after I dropped my first album,
an offer was made to me that if I was able to drop another album
or record another album within 30 days, that I'd get a million dollars.
That's your first time having a million, correct?
Oh, yeah, yeah.
You had a million or two.
First time I was offered a million.
Offered a million.
I didn't have a million by then.
I mean, like I said, I bought two albums at the same time.
Now, what was the first album?
What was the name of it again?
It's Dark and Hell is Hot.
And then, it wasn't Flesh and Blood.
It's Dark and Hell is Hot.
Flesh and my flesh, blood on my blood.
Flesh and my blood.
Then there was X.
Got niggas like, what's next?
And getting great impression.
We got X-Rhyme on the podcast.
But you was on Roof House before that.
I got signed to a single, Roof House Columbia.
Yes, yes, yes.
Oh, man.
That's history right there.
Roof House Columbia.
That was like end of 80s.
Late 80s.
Early 90s.
That was mid-90s.
How sick was Roof House Columbia after you dropped two
platinum?
Let's just say fuck Rough House Columbia.
That was before I dropped anything
with platinum. Fuck Rough House Columbia.
They fucked up.
They dropped the ball.
They had X.
They decided me as a tax write-off.
They signed me for one single.
After we put the single out, it had a little momentum, a little push.
And they picked it up but didn't put anything behind it.
Okay.
Okay.
Cool.
Now let me tell you.
I know what I'm capable of.
I know what I'm going to do.
And I'm glad I bought the locks to Rough Riders.
You bought the locks to Rough Riders?
Yeah, I bought the locks to Rough Riders.
I bought E to Rough Riders. And the locks To Rough Riders Yeah I bought the locks To Rough Riders I bought E's to Rough Riders
And it's like
Drag drag
They met
And I kind of co-signed
I signed this release papers
And drag from Yonkers too
Drag from the Bronx
Okay
Drag on
Okay
So DMX
We got DMX in the building
Yeah
I'm so thankful
Because you know
What the crazy shit is
You know what I had to tell X
I had to keep it real with X
I said yo X The inmates is really running the building.
Because last time somebody told you the inmates was running the building, you was disappointed.
I'm grateful for the way you phrased it.
Last time someone told me inmates was running the building, inmates wasn't really running the building.
But you never was on Rikers Island with him, so you didn't know.
Not with him.
You for sure know.
I was on.
In our mind, we was on Rikers Island.
Not with him.
I wasn't on.
I don't even think I ever been to record.
That nigga?
Nah, nah.
The only honor he was on is the one he bought.
I'll talk to you about it.
Yeah, nah, nah, nah.
Facts.
So, DMS, let's get to the story in Arizona.
In Arizona one night.
Listen, let me just tell you something.
You want to tell the story?
There's so many levels of that story.
There's so many levels of that story. There's so many levels of that story.
But the first part about it is I, so, you know, typically you know when they jump on the floor, well they just go.
So, you know, we all jumped on the floor and then we go and Nick Adorey,
I'm like, wait, wait!
Of course you can't hear because the engine is dumb loud.
I chase him, he gets away from me because he was like mad far ahead.
I thought he was going to go half a block and turn around.
And I'll tell you where he's at.
Between stop signs, it's like at least a mile.
I'm like, oh, he'll stop.
Maybe he'll stop.
He was on the MTV joint?
Yeah.
The smallest engine we had was 500.
The 500. That was the smallest engine we had was the 500. The 500.
That was the smallest engines we had.
So our shit was fast.
Yo,
this nigga dipped off.
Yo,
I bust my ass.
Yo,
when he came back,
because there was like a ditch on your side.
No,
that's the story.
You was shooting a movie?
Yeah,
I was shooting a movie.
Oh,
the horror movie.
Yeah,
the horror movie.
Yeah,
yeah,
yeah.
The dude from Fast and Furious.
Yeah,
I brought all of them to. That's cool. He had the crazy long hair, right? And you know, yeah, yeah. The dude from Fast and Furious. Yeah, I brought all of them to school.
He had the crazy little hair.
And, you know, I said, I'm fighting my house.
I'm fighting my house.
I got the pool in the backyard.
Family, kids out there.
Yo, his men, yo, gets by the pool, takes his pants off.
They got the fucking thongs on.
They get, you know, the white dude with the motherfucking long hair jumping like, no, yo.
People I shoot the movie with. Make some. People I'll shoot the movie with.
Make some noise for people I'll shoot the movie with.
Right, right, right.
Come on, come on.
Yo, your niggas never watched your video.
You got to clap your hands.
Henny, Henny.
Yo, but X, let me just tell you that day, right?
Yo, you was getting 10 million a movie at that time.
Yeah.
And when you called me, you said, you said you in Arizona you gotta come back me exactly
And then I say y'all got a little while away. Yeah, now we said to song
Yeah, yeah two hours away to let me take some
Let's get it all. And X took care of all my people.
Listen, all my people, X took care of.
All that.
Everything, man.
It was the funny shit, though.
My homegirl, she was like, you know what I'm saying?
I grew up with her.
She's from the hood.
So we in the house, it's a family environment.
So she get the white bit on, but her nipples is down by her waist.
Man, her hair's all white.
You know, when nobody was partying, we get a family environment.
So normally, like, I think he kind of forgot there was a family environment.
Nothing is family.
But he's like, yo, that's where the bitch is at.
We got a moment.
That's where the bitch is at.
And her homegirl was like, we back here.
She was like He was like
No you auntie
Chill chill
You auntie
Thanks to the Lord
To be respected auntie
The crazy shit is
She was younger
Than both of us
Right
But when she look
That was auntie
She cooking
And stuff
With her nipples down here
Like you auntie
Chill
Yo It was a pleasure To have you there Nah man Let me tell you something DMX You one of the most He cookin' his own food with his nipples down here. Like, I'm T-Boo Boo Chill. Yo.
Yo.
It was a pleasure to have you there.
Nah, man.
Let me tell you something.
DMX, you're one of the most influential people in hip-hop.
Thank you.
For sure. You changed the norm, you know, from two albums in a year.
There's not a lot of people that can do that after you, before you, in between you.
Not credible ones.
And we appreciate you for sharing the Drink Chance podcast. We
assure that. We're afraid that you lost it.
Come on. It's right over there.
It's right over there.
And you a hidden
cigar.
You got a red Timberlands.
Keeping it real. Flesh your money or your flesh.
Blood of your blood.
So listen, let me ask you here.
Blood of my blood.
Oh my niggas
get down like,
what?
So everybody thought
you was blood at one point.
Are you gang affiliate
or you new to 50-50?
Or are you gang affiliate?
Neutron, Neutron.
You can do whatever you want.
Huh?
Nah, nah.
Real shit, nah, nah.
The bloods.
I got the homies,
you know what I'm saying,
on the blood,
with the homeboys,
with the quips,
like,
real niggas
fuck with the kid.
Real niggas
fuck with the kid.
So, no,
I'm not married
to one side,
you know what I mean,
or one side or the other,
but...
But you the dog.
Real nigga, right.
Dog.
And, and, and,
and what,
everything I did,
naturally,
dog,
red,
blood,
all that,
it would look like... But it wasn't leaning that way
It was leaning like a mother
It was leaning like a mother
I never got into it like that
I gotta ask you the same question
We ask everybody
Who was your favorite CEO?
You've been on
CEO?
CEO
You felt had your back They They had your bail money.
You know, whatever.
CEO that you were assigned to.
Wow, who was I assigned to?
Whoever you want to add.
It's okay. I got to say,
most of the real shit,
Lior. Lior.
That's what I said.
Let's make some noise for Lior.
Let's make some noise for Lior. Let's make some noise for Lior.
You know what we call Ali?
We call Ali, Ali-or.
Ali-or.
He doesn't want the name, but we gave it to him.
A lot of people don't understand.
The top three people at Def Jam had Lye in their name.
What?
I don't know where this is going.
Break it down.
The top three people, it was Lior, which is spelled L-Y-O-R.
L-I-O-R.
Jew Lee.
J-U-L-I-E. Lye.
Or Kevin Lyles.
Top three people.
This makes no sense.
Everybody make noise.
What did you get out of that?
What is that telling you?
I just told you.
The top three people had lying in their name.
But this is what bothered me.
Because Lior came to our studio.
Thursday, South Broadway.
I mean, we're in front of the studio.
That's in Manhattan?
It's in Yonkers.
Yonkers.
My jaw was still wired shut.
This is when you got signed.
I heard about this story.
This is when he knew he was signing me. Okay. My jaw was wired shut. And is when you got signed. I heard about this story. This is when he knew he would sign me.
Okay.
My jaw was wired shut.
And the lobster guy signed first to Puff.
And D, from our fighters, Darren, he bought me, gave me the puff.
And one thing I respect about Puff, one thing I respect about him in real shit,
is that at least he told me to my face what he felt.
And D told Puff, he said,
yo, if you like the locks, you're going to love that.
And I spit or whatever, and he was like,
nah, his voice is too rough, he's unmarketable.
Didn't like it, but I had to respect it.
He fucked up.
Let's make some noise for Puff fucking up.
Hold up, hold up. He came right behind and tried to clean up. So maybe make some noise for Puff fucking up. Hold up. Hold up.
He came right behind me trying to clean up.
So maybe two weeks later when he found out I was getting signed for Def Jam, he was like,
yo, I'll lace your pockets.
I'll double what they gave you and lace your pockets.
I'm like, nah, homie.
Because if you didn't see the beef that I was in.
What point did he tell you that?
What point?
Maybe two weeks after I got signed to Def Jam.
He's like, yo, I'll lace your pockets.
I'll double what they gave you and lace your pockets.
I'm like, nah, I'm cool.
So it's a legendary story.
Yeah, you didn't know.
I said, but it's a... I respect that about Paul.
Right.
I mean, because...
A lot of motherfuckers, they see you in a wild goose.
They won't tell you.
Oh, call me later.
Yeah, industry.
I respect the fact that he told me to my face.
He said, you know what?
Your voice is too rough and you're not marketable.
So at least he was willing to, in my mind, what I think he's saying is work on this.
Right.
So, Ax, listen.
Constructive criticism.
It's a famous story that said that when you and Jay-Z battled, right?
Because this battle happened, right?
Correct?
A couple times.
A couple of times.
It wasn't just once.
Nah.
So when you and Jay-Z battled.
So Biggs.
They said that Big L was crazy in that battle.
Do you remember Big L being there?
Vaguely. Vaguely.
No, I can't say that.
I know Big L.
I know Big L.
But you was trying to take Jay-Z out.
What it was, it was where fighters had Harlem Nights.
Right?
It was on 135th Broadway.
The project building Right there And And
J.Crew was
Original flavor
Original flavor
Right
Before they was rock and roll
Right
They had the Hawaiian
They had the Hawaiian soupy shit
All that blah blah
So
They was
It was their
It was their battle
So you battled him during
He had the Hawaiian soupy
I was the big gun On On him during... I was the big gun on my side.
And he was the big gun with them niggas.
And it wasn't Rockefeller.
It was Original Fable.
No, Original Fable was the group.
Oh, wow.
This is...
So there was no Rockefeller then.
There was no Rockefeller.
Dame Dash was there.
Jay-Z was there.
Right.
You know, they whole crew, the original...
Whatever.
Right, yeah. Hawaiian Sophie. The nigg whole crew that originally, whatever, Hawaiian Sophie.
The niggas.
How you calling
a Hawaiian Sophie?
Yeah,
that Hawaiian Sophie nigga.
Original Flavor
was the name of the group.
Right.
Original Flavor.
Okay.
And,
what?
One thing I will give
Jay Z respect for.
Who won that battle?
Okay.
I've never lost a battle.
I've never lost a battle.
Let's make some noise
for Dax.
I've never lost a battle.
Never. Come on. a battle. Never.
I'm a battle rapper.
I'm a battle rapper.
I'm a battle rapper.
Who's a guy you would like to battle right now?
If you looked at him.
Would like to battle?
Yeah, like you said.
No one I'd like to battle.
There's a lot of rappers I don't like.
But I ain't going to cut their head off.
Don't cut their head off.
We're being positive.
Nah, not really.
Fuck them.
Fuck them.
But I ain't going to blow up the spot because now I have a platform where it might be hurtful.
Yeah, yeah. To what they're doing.
And it might seem like I ain't mad at it.
I'm not mad at whack niggas getting money.
Yeah.
I'm not mad at whack niggas getting money. I'm not mad at whack niggas getting money.
There's a lot of whack-ass fucking rappers out there,
but I ain't going to put them on blast,
because you know what?
They have fans.
And when you look at the big picture,
it's like if there's one rapper, right,
that has a hit record or whatever,
then he's going to employ five of his friends.
So you see the positive side of that.
Right. There's at least
seven people from the hood.
Enough of that.
They don't have to worry about hustling
or doing whatever, stealing.
There's at least
that many people that's removed
from the struggle.
It's a blessing.
God did that for them. God did that for them.
God did that for them.
Whether they recognize it or not, it don't matter.
But they're in a better place, and they're able to help others,
and they inspire people.
So that's why my eye, if you're successful, then cool.
I mean, I don't want to take over the whole market.
I don't want to take over the whole market. I don't want to take over the whole market.
I only walk in the dark when my steps are guided.
And no matter how dark my path gets, I light it.
I ain't never been ashamed of the pain.
Can't hide it.
Yeah, the road was rough, but I decided to ride it.
Step carefully, but half of me walk recklessly.
Fuck, that's just an X in me.
Cats can pop like ecstasy.
Yo, money sounds just like you.
Him, he's just an X to me.
What?
DMX, I'm going to keep it real.
We got like 3 million subscribers.
I'm lying.
But.
It's all good.
Can you pray for the people?
Because I told people.
I told people that you pray for everybody.
And listen, I've been going to.
Pray for us.
Listen, whenever DMX open a church,
I'm going to be the first attended.
Church, church. DMX church.
See, you pray for the people, please.
And then we'll go to Club Passion.
All right. Come on. Let's pray for the people. Pray for us over. Pray for the people, please. And then we'll go to club passion.
Let's pray for the pray for us,
man.
Bow your heads,
motherfucker.
Man.
Father God,
we thank you for
this gathering of
souls.
The word says that
when two or more
gather in your name
with your presence
and we thank you
for your presence.
We ask that your
grace and blessings
were upon us this
evening.
We pray that any
obstacle the devil
plans to place on our path will be removed in the name of Jesus. We thank you for the and blessings are upon us this evening. We pray that any obstacle the devil plans to place on our path will be
moved in the name of Jesus. We thank you for
the things that are blessings, things that people,
most people take for granted. The air
that we have to breathe,
the food we have to eat,
the cars we have to drive, the clothes we have
to wear, the money we have to spend, the lives
we've touched, the lives that have touched our own.
When's the last time somebody said,
thank you God for this air,
but without that air that you didn't thank God for,
how long could you live?
I'm talking to somebody.
I pray that you guide our steps,
that you have your will, have your way in our lives.
For we didn't make us, so we don't know what to do with us.
We humble ourselves before you.
We humble ourselves before you.
We praise your name and give you the you. We praise your name and give
you the glory. We praise your name and give you the glory. The word says no weapon formed against
the shop prosper. The word don't say the weapon won't be formed. The word doesn't say the intention
of the weapon maker won't be to harm you. The word don't say that the weapon maker won't attempt to
use it. What the word says is No weapon for me against Bishop Roswell
So no matter what they think
No matter what they do
No matter what they try
It don't matter
Because when God is for you
Who can be against you
When God is for you
Who can be against you
When God is for you
Who can be against you
We have so much power in the spoken word We have so much power in the spoken word.
We have so much power in the spoken
word. And there's angels
that are waiting to be released on our
behalf. But unless we release them
with the spoken word, then they will stand
there and watch the devil destroy them.
They will watch him destroy us
because they have not been released.
All we
got to do is Have knowledge of the word
And use the word
The only weapon we need is the word
The only weapon we need is the word
Again the word says
My people perish for lack of knowledge
We die because of what we don't know
So God may you remind us
May you remind us of what we need to say
When we need to say it
May you remind us of how we need to say when we need to say it. May you remind us of how
much power there is in the word.
We praise your name
and give you the glory. We thank you.
We thank you. We even thank you for
our mishaps. We thank
you for our curses because you know what?
Sometimes the blessing will be
found in the curse. Sometimes
the blessing will be found in the curse. Sometimes we
won't know what God is willing to
do for us, even though we
know what he's capable of doing.
Sometimes we don't know what he's
willing to do for us until we get to the point
where we need him to do it for us.
So we say thank you for that.
We say thank you. We say thank you.
In Jesus' name we pray.
Amen.
Make some fucking noise
To DMX brand
So listen
X we gonna ask one more question
We gonna hit your bow to hit
Cause we know you gotta go
And we coming with you
This is the thing
Go ahead
You got a question
E
Can we put this together
Can we put this together
Yeah give him a question
Can we put this together
Yeah
So how did you feel
A lot of people
When Pac passed and then you came
to the scene?
They compared you.
How did you feel to that comparison?
Some people get offended.
I used to correct people
as plainly as I could.
Oh, you like the next Pac?
I'm like, no, I'm the first ex.
They would say that.
Oh, you like the next Pac? I'm like, no, I'm not the next anything no I'm the first ex they would say that oh you're the next pop I'm like no I'm
not the next anything I'm the first that's a friend I mean and and it's crazy because um
um I actually had a chance to see pop oh where walking um we say that um oh my god so on Hammond
Hammond way off sunset in LA oh okayA. Oh, okay. That hotel.
Okay.
And I saw him.
He was a cool dude.
He seemed cool.
Now, what year was this?
Do you remember the year?
I'd say like 97?
Six.
Oh, wow.
Wow.
You met real pop.
Yeah.
You met the real pop.
Walking by yourself.
You got 97, right?
Maybe 95. Maybe 95.
Dre Borders out there.
Dre Borders out there.
And he walked past and I seen him.
My man said, what up?
What up?
What up?
Cool dude.
But I think, I think, and speaking as favorably as I can
to someone who's passed,
to someone who can't defend themselves,
I think part of the problem,
a big part of the problem,
was he didn't have what New York niggas got.
Like, uh, I'm from New York, this is my block, bam.
He had no one, he didn't have his crew.
So one thing, being New York niggas, I know for a fact is you don't go to Cali and live there.
Like having the goon spots.
Like, homie, you could be the hottest thing in the world.
But you don't go way over there without, like, no one ever knew where he was from.
Where you from?
Nobody ever knew. But he was from Oakland Where you from? Nobody ever knew him.
He wasn't from Oakland, though. He lived
in Oakland.
We lived in Oakland.
But when you're from
somewhere, you got a nigga that grew up with you
that had your back, that loved you
since you was in kindergarten.
I mean, that fuck with you for real.
I need the extra
set of eyes so I keep my dog with me.
Doctor said, let him die. I said, this fucking of eyes So I keep my dog with me Doctor said Let him die
So this fucking dog bit me
Sometimes you need that nigga
With you
That that that that that
Your man
That that that that
You know what
He'll see what you don't see
Right
It's easy to get caught up in this
It's easy to get caught up in this
I got one more question
And that's it
I got you
He got his shirt jerked in
Ali is
I don't really care
Fuck about club passion
Yo
I'ma keep it 100
I'ma keep it 100.
Listen, focus.
We love Ali.
Of course.
Let's give a shout out to Ali.
Yeah, shout out to Ali.
AKA Cuzzle.
AKA Red Coat.
Love Ali.
Love Ali.
AKA Jersey with the mouse in the boot.
AKA.
Yo, listen.
AKA. AKA. Sexual harassment. Oh, we're, a.k.a. A.k.a.
Sexual harassment.
So listen, this is the last question I ask.
You got any regrets of anything?
No.
No?
If that was that simple, I got one more question.
I'm going to tell you why.
Yeah.
Everything happened the way it was supposed to happen.
Why?
Even, people say,
people say
that they don't believe that they're
perfect, or they don't think it's perfection.
God don't make mistakes.
Mm.
We're each perfectly us.
Mm.
The sooner you can embrace that,
and accept that, the better off you will be.
The better off you will be. The better off you will be.
God made you the way you are for a reason.
Praise God.
Praise God.
I'm about to preach.
Listen.
I survived a 25-year addiction.
Look up.
Sorry, Daddy. the car that's about the 25 year addiction not because of my own
stuff not because of anything
that I gave to myself or did for
myself or did to myself
God did it
make some noise for God
make some noise for God there's more did it God did it
There's more to it
There's more to it
Again, sometimes
Sometimes
We won't know what God is willing to do
For us until we're in a situation
Where only God can do it for us
God won't walk you to
What he won't walk you through He won't walk you to what he won't walk you through.
He won't walk you to what he won't walk you through.
I said earlier, God is the only one who can have a bad situation,
become a beautiful situation without ever changing the situation.
The story has already been written.
It speaks on before we were born and refers to after we're gone.
So if the story has already been written. It speaks on before we were born and refers to after we're gone. So if the story has already been written, if the story has already been written and it goes from A to Z and we're around Q somewhere,
then what makes us think as his creations that we can change any aspect of the story?
Then that would mean that we have the potential of calling God a liar.
If we could change any part of the story,
that would mean that we have the potential of making God out to be a liar.
And clearly, we don't have that.
We don't have that.
We're not able to.
Let's make some noise for DMS being smarter than all of you.
He's smarter than everybody.
Yeah, keep going.
Keep going. Keep going.
What it is,
what it is,
is the only thing that can change
is our perspective
about that situation.
The situation won't change.
The story has already been written.
The story has already been written.
Once again, it speaks on
before we were born
And it refers to after we're gone
From Genesis to Revelations
The book has already been written
The story has already been told
We're somewhere in the middle
Just because he didn't specifically mention our names
Don't mean that we ain't caught up in the middle of that story
Tell him, talk to him dog
The word doesn't say we have free choice
The word says we have free will Free will the word doesn't say we have free choice. The word says we have free will.
Free will.
The word don't say we have free choice.
The word says we have free will.
Will is your intentions.
Why you did it.
And believe it or not, that makes all the difference in the world.
Me and you can do the same exact thing, but the reason why we did it would make all the difference in the world.
Right. Example
Break it down
All it takes is this right here
All it takes is my hair
Break it down
Trigger finger
All it takes
That trigger finger
All it takes is a
Moving on finger
To end someone's life
But you did it
Because somebody
Kicked your door open
And you defended your family
I did this
Because I wanted to
Rob your ass
Not my
I wasn't robbing my ass
Let me finish my sentence Let me finish my sentence.
Let me finish my sentence.
But the same thing.
You did it because you protected your family.
Defended your family.
I did it because I wanted to rob somebody.
Right.
One person's right, one person's wrong.
Though the same act was committed,
we did nothing different.
But what was different about
what we did was our intentions.
That makes all the
difference in the world. It's not what you did,
it's about why you did it.
It's not what you did, it's about
why you did it.
If I kill somebody
just because I want some money, then I'm a piece of shit.
So I got one more question before you break down.
If I did it because I wanted to protect the world or save the world, then I'm all right.
David was God's most favorite person.
You know what David, what is David known for?
His favor.
He received from God.
But, a lot of people don't know,
he sent the motherfucker
in war, put him on the front line because he was the motherfucker's wife.
That's hard.
David actually did that. David did that.
But he was still God's
most favored.
Let's make some noise for God's favor.
Come on, come on, everybody.
Black girls, you over here.
So hold on.
X. The Medal of Honor is the highest Come on, come on, everybody. Black girls, you're over here. So hold on.
The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration in the United States.
Recipients have done the improbable,
showing immense bravery and sacrifice in the name of something much bigger than themselves.
This medal is for the men who went down that day.
It's for the families of those who didn't make it.
I'm J.R. Martinez.
I'm a U.S. Army veteran myself,
and I'm honored to tell you the stories of these heroes on the new season of Medal of Honor, Stories of Courage
from Pushkin Industries and iHeart Podcast.
From Robert Blake, the first Black sailor to be awarded the medal,
to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice.
These are stories about people who have distinguished themselves by acts of valor, going above and beyond the call of duty.
You'll hear about what they did, what it meant, and what their stories tell us about the nature of courage and sacrifice.
Listen to Medal of Honor on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A lot of times the big economic forces we hear about on the news show up in our lives in small ways.
Three or four days a week, I would buy two cups of banana pudding,
but the price has gone up. So now I only buy one. The demand curve in action. And that's just one
of the things we'll be covering on Everybody's Business from Bloomberg Businessweek. I'm Max
Chavkin. And I'm Stacey Vanek-Smith. Every Friday, we will be diving into the biggest stories in
business, taking a look at what's going on, why it matters, and how it shows up in our everyday lives.
But guests like Business Week editor Brad Stone,
sports reporter Randall Williams,
and consumer spending expert Amanda Mull
will take you inside the boardrooms, the backrooms,
even the signal chats that make our economy tick.
Hey, I want to learn about VeChain.
I want to buy some blockchain or whatever it is that they're doing.
So listen to Everybody's Business on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
The American West with Dan Flores is the latest show from the MeatEater Podcast Network,
hosted by me, writer and historian Dan Flores, and brought to you by Velvet Buck.
This podcast looks at a West available nowhere else.
Each episode, I'll be diving into some of the lesser-known histories of the West.
I'll then be joined in conversation by guests such as Western historian Dr. Randall Williams
and best-selling author and meat-eater founder Stephen Ranella.
I'll correct my kids now and then where
they'll say when cave people were here. And I'll say, it seems like the Ice Age people that were
here didn't have a real affinity for caves. So join me starting Tuesday, May 6th, where we'll
delve into stories of the West and come to understand how it helps inform the ways in
which we experience the region today. Listen to the American West with Dan Flores on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I know a lot of cops, and they get asked all the time,
have you ever had to shoot your gun?
Sometimes the answer is yes.
But there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always be no.
Across the country, cops called this taser the revolution.
But not everyone was convinced it was that simple.
Cops believed everything that taser told them.
From Lava for Good and the team that brought you Bone Valley
comes a story about what happened when a multi-billion dollar company
dedicated itself to
one visionary mission.
This is Absolute Season

So X, you said you had no regrets.
No regrets.
I don't have any regrets now.
If you could change anything in hip-hop, what would you change?
Anything.
The tightness.
And the things closed.
I'm going to make some noise for that.
Let's make some noise for the tightness.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Come on.
Y'all know black girls.
Come on.
Black girls.
What are they? He's not a girl. What are you doing? Now, I am a warrior for the Lord.
I don't have an ounce of hate in my heart because it takes too much energy to hold on to hate, to harbor hate.
It takes too much energy.
I don't have time for that.
I got too much lifting up to do.
I got too much praising God to do. I got too much praising God to do.
I got, hey, hey, hey.
That's my purpose.
My purpose, if I could say one person,
I influence one person that I've done something wonderful with my life.
You influence millions of people, in case you ain't know.
No, no, no.
My goal is one. My goal is one.
Listen, you influence
hundreds of millions of people with DMX.
I want you to know that.
Your albums save people lives.
I never stop.
Your albums save people lives.
Music itself, music is
pleasurable to the ear.
People enjoy it.
But... Are you going to open a church? Are you going to open a church? I would like to go to the ear. People enjoy it. But a song without work.
Are you going to open a church?
I would like to go to your church.
Open another?
We just opened one.
This is a church right here.
We in church.
Come on, let's make some noise for the fucking church.
Come on.
Everybody, everybody, everybody.
My church, when I do actually put the church in a building, my church will call. Where's your church at?
It's wherever two or more people come together in the same.
That's what I'm saying.
I've been going to DMS church for 12 years.
It will be called House of the Afflicted.
A lot of people understand God's strongest warriors are those most afflicted.
If you're not a threat to the devil, you't gonna waste his time on fucking your life up So I
Thank God for my problems
Because it's only through my problems
Do I know how much of a threat I am to the devil
And how much God is willing to do to get
Oh my God
Yo listen I'm gonna keep it 100
Cause everybody been saying to me
Listen DMX
You haven't did no podcast ever in your life
Yo I wanna thank you my brother So hold up DMX. You haven't did no podcast ever in your life. Yo, I want to
thank you, my brother.
So, hold up.
Pod is like...
Pod is prison.
Yeah, it's prison. This is prison.
It's a prison cast.
Why don't I smoke a cigarette?
Why don't I smoke a cigarette?
Why don't I smoke a cigarette?
Why don't I smoke a cigarette?
I want to smoke a cigarette, too.
We don't know who the fuck made up the podcast.
How did you smoke the pot?
Podcast.
Drink chat.
How did you smoke the pot?
Yeah, leave us with a rhyme.
You put me that electrolytes.
Electrolytes.
We'll do another one.
We'll do another one.
And he started as a beatboxer originally.
Nah.
Yeah, originally.
Started as a beatboxer. Slime. Yeah, originally. So he's a beatboxer.
Slime in the ground.
Slime on the grass.
I'm going to do it when I do it.
Slime.
I ain't even in time.
Three champs?
We going to drink.
We going to drink.

Yeah, leave him with this word.
Then we out of here.
Because Mr. Lee, how about the punch from Mr. Lee and his foot?
But listen, we can't stop the word of God.
And I got to leave you with this.
Let's go.
Amen.
Amen.
Dear Lord, I need to be rescued.
No one can get done except you.
Please tell me the test is through.
I did my best to As I could As I should
Knock on wood
Then I'm hood
Then I'm good
Cause he knows my heart
But it grows from the start
Glows in the dark
Knows from the start
I was chosen to part
When you smart
Won't always bite
But knows when to bark
Rose in the dark
Could've glimpsed in the light
Now I can't live without it
Man this ain't right
So I'ma give it to Jesus
Cause it ain't my fight
I wanna make it to the light
Please make it alright And ain't nobody so I'ma give it to Jesus cause it ain't my fight I wanna make it to the light please make it alright
and ain't nobody but you taking my
life cause I know not many do
make it through the fight but there's still
many who walk with your grace cause I
know plenty who walk with your face
and their minds and their hearts with the
word on their lips but still straight from the
herd I'm sure you've heard how it gets cause the
word is the gift that'll break any yoke
stronghold and bond down to a third of its
strength. When you're free in the name of Jesus, you're
free indeed. All you need is faith, the size
of a mustard seed. All things are possible
through Christ who strengthens me. It's my destiny
to be the best I can be, to give you the best of me.
And now, ain't no such thing as the rest
of me, because you have selfishly
gave me the recipe, which is the word in the book.
Right here, the whole time, man.
I done did the whole nine, four times, probably more times.
I kind of lost track.
Every time I got lost, course right back.
They don't understand how I get lost like that.
I learn like this, you get taught like that.
We may never know it.
We're missing what it's over.
Let's do it.
We may never know it.
We need to be growing.
We may never know it. We are to be. We may never know.
We are truly.
We may never know.
The way the world is going to.
We may never know.
It's way to go.
But they keep going.
We may never know.
It's way to do.
But we keep doing.
We may never know.
But we keep looking. We may never know what we move how we keep looking
We may never know
the way the world
is gonna use us
in our lives
Darkman X
makes our fucking life
