But there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always be no. This is Absolute Season 1, Taser Incorporated. I get right back there and it's bad. Listen to Absolute Season 1, Taser Incorporated on the get right back there and it's bad. Listen to Absolute Season 1 Taser Incorporated
Starting point is 00:01:28 on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. And it's Drake Chess motherfucking podcast. Make some noise! We'll be right back. players in the most professional unprofessional podcast and your number one source for drunk it's time for drink champs drink up what it good be hoping this will assume it is your boy n-R-E. What up, it's DJ EFN. What the fuck? I'm trying to get my JT voice. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Yo, he's so excited, he lost his fucking voice.
Starting point is 00:02:33 This is motherfucking military drink chance. Have you ever made something? Yeah! And from the very moment we started this podcast, from the very moment that we said we was going to cover legends, and we said that we was going to go out and we was going to get the people who's been down and whose people who's been, and the other two houses, too.
Starting point is 00:02:54 No sidetracking. Two houses, though. The two houses, legends. My bad, my bad, my bad. Legends, too. There was people, it was a time we didn't understand where our home was going to be. But once we said Miami, Florida is going to be the home of drink champs, I cannot tell you how many fans requested this man.
Starting point is 00:03:15 I can't tell you how many people has come up to us daily, wherever we at. Where the fuck y'all going to have homie on? Yeah, yeah. He's a part of a legendary group. When you first think of Dade County, arguably, you think of Luke did him. Some people might say him than Luke, depending on who you ask.
Starting point is 00:03:40 He's a legend legend. Lyrical, I like to think of him if you put Tupac and Scarface together, and they were from Florida, that's who he would be. Sprinkle a little Luke in there. I've been listening to him all goddamn week, because we've been preparing, and goddamn it, we're going to get to what the fuck Dank is. We're going to find out then. In case you don't know what we talkin' about, the legendary, the legend of legends,
Starting point is 00:04:10 king of Florida, king of Miami-Dade County, represent, bet that up, what? Uh-uh. Your one and only, legendary, iconic, JT Motherfuckin' Money! Hey! Boy, you're too kind. Long overdue, long overdue. Now, off top, off top,
Starting point is 00:04:30 I love your relationship with Tupac. Yeah. I heard y'all was in Inferno and Hollandale. Yeah. Yeah. You should see that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know I'm out of shit. You know I'm out of shit. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Tell this story of you and Pac and Inferno and Holliday.
Starting point is 00:04:48 Yeah, man, you know, I had just heard about him, though. That's when I first met him. But he had this song, you know, I think Brennan's Got a Baby was out, but he had this song, All I Wanted to Be a Soldier. And my dude say, Che, you hear that, bro? Say, how the nigga gonna be there tonight? I'm like, nah, we got to go see this guy. So this is only, he only got Brennan's Got a Baby, this is right after A Date to the Underground. Yeah, nah, we got to go see this guy. So he only got Brendan to look after the baby.
Starting point is 00:05:05 This is right after a date you do underground. Yeah, right after. Okay, first album. Right. Y'all do sound like each other. I'm trying to get to JT. I pull up in the shit, you know, and I walk in the back, because, you know, JT Money right there in the hood.
Starting point is 00:05:19 You know, I walk in the back where they at, and the song was playing. I hate her. I was having me. That boy rolling the joint saying, I hate her. I hate her. So I walk in like, okay. But he already knew who I was, though, from Too Low Like Mothers.
Starting point is 00:05:34 But since then, we've been tight, you know. So we'll see each other on the road at different conventions. You know, and we used to have seminars and conventions back in the day. Impact Convention. Gavin. Right. Jack the Rapper. Yeah, we would always bump heads right there. Not bump heads, but running the day. Impact Convention. Impact, yeah. Gavin. Yeah, right. Jack the Rapper. Yeah, we would always
Starting point is 00:05:46 bump heads right there. Not bump heads, but running the players, you know? It was good. Good game, man. And I heard there was one time that you bumped into him
Starting point is 00:05:53 and you told him, man, you got all these niggas on your album. You ain't got me on your album. I was waiting. But he passed before that. Right. Because, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:01 prior to that, you know, it was Luke Records andless and Del Fro. Right. Once upon a time. I had to rival cows and cotton, you know, all that was going on. But then my man had then got hooked up over there.
Starting point is 00:06:14 And you know, I was just gonna be like, so how you got all these niggas and you ain't, you know, your boy, your guy, when we go for, you know, but anyway, it ain't happen that way though. But that was it though. I ain't never get to tell you though, your guy. We go for, you know, but anyway. It ain't happen that way, though. But that was it, though. I ain't never get to tell you, though, but I know we done heard about it now
Starting point is 00:06:29 because I done said that one once or twice. You know, you done know tripping. You done know tripping. So let me ask you, right? When I first moved, I've been living, I'm going on, I think, 16 years, like, solid living in Miami. You're 305 at this point.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Oh, yeah. All right, all right. You just got half a year. But one of the first things that I heard was, like, the Broward and Day, like, little sayings to each other, right? This is shit that I didn't know when I lived in New York, right? But then now that I'm out here, I see, like, they'll say, like, Browards and Cowards and Browards.
Starting point is 00:07:04 And then they'll be like, oh, get sprayed and dade. But a lot of people tell me that that is the exact thing that directly came from Compton's get sprayed and dade. Yeah, well... Was it the feud between broward and dade? Well, somebody was... No, you're asking a question.
Starting point is 00:07:20 It was just the vision, you know, dade was dade and broward was broward because anybody from anywhere else thought Miami was from Palm Beach down. Right. And then Miami niggas be like, nah, them niggas from Broward. Nah, them niggas from Palm Beach.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Right. You know, just like, like you hit a boy out, he be like, nah, nigga, I ain't from Dade, I'm from Broward. Right, who you gonna go to? Yeah, he a reference shit now, you know. But that's all I want. But that whole Cowards and Coddings
Starting point is 00:07:44 and Spray the Day, it was Cowles from Broward at first. That came from that? Yeah. Goddamn, let me know. I feel about history, man. Nigga, I know I feel about history. Luke went and pulled that up.
Starting point is 00:07:55 And Miami people used to beef, too. South Miami and North Miami always beefed. No, but you know, in New York, we never saw that. We always saw y'all as being the southest having unity. Right, right. Yeah, we never saw that. We always saw y'all as being the southest having unity. South, right. Yeah, we never saw that. Because I heard you, that's like how you got on. It's like kind of, not got on, but like that was one of the things you did in school
Starting point is 00:08:13 was battle like New York people who came out here. Yeah, that's the only niggas that rapped. Ain't no other niggas rapped, you know what I'm saying? But then, like I even started rapping because there wasn't no niggas like me rapping. Yeah, it was like, it was almost death. So who influenced you? Like, who influenced your rapping? It was Q, Scott, JT Money.
Starting point is 00:08:33 But I was always Cool J, Rocky, and Big Daddy Kane. And Cool J rapping, you know. See, but I know the music. You know, I used to listen to niggas like Chell, Rob G. You know, niggas don't even know about these things. You know, I used to listen to niggas like Chell Rob G. You know, you just don't even know about these things. You know, just saying. I was way back then. How do you be influenced for something like that?
Starting point is 00:08:50 And then at the time, it was Luke that was really, really doing it. And bass music, Imperius. Because everybody you named is real lyrical. And when you listen to your lyrics, you can tell that you're a lyrical person. Yeah, I was a fan of the lyrics throughout the music. I actually heard them as a shorty. Like, yeah, that's that shit. Like, but our music was, you know, the bass music.
Starting point is 00:09:14 It was the beats that made them bass. But if you listen to early 2 Live Crew, the lyrics was similar to what Run DMC was. I'm just saying it was just Southern style. Right, Southern style. But to me, 2 Live Crew was kind of lyrical for that time. You know what I'm saying? My brother Marquise, he was the guy for that kid.
Starting point is 00:09:30 That's your R.R.P., brother. Yeah, that's the piece. Check. So, okay, how did you and Uncle Luke initially hook up? Well, Mr. Mix from Two Live Crew, he actually heard me and Dill at like a little talent show, Big Daddy 8600. That was our money. Right.
Starting point is 00:09:49 We still in school now, but we'd go out there college night, Tuesday or Wednesday, and we won first or second place. $100 a week or $200 a week or something like that? It was either $500 or $300. We either got the $500 or the $300. Okay, okay. You know what I'm saying? So, yeah, man. $150. $150. Okay, okay. You know what I'm saying? So, yeah, man. You know, 150.
Starting point is 00:10:06 150 every week, dog. Without robbing him. No, it's not. Right. But, yeah, Mr. and Mrs. Hurd, he's like, man, y'all want to make a record? And I don't even think Deb knew who he was because, you know, I'm an East New York nigga.
Starting point is 00:10:18 I'm a Brownsville nigga. Right. But I'm like, yeah, let's do it. We wasn't even trying to make a record. Like, in our day, we wasn't passing out demos. We wasn't going to see people. We didn't have no industry here. It wasn't, if you wasn't down with Luke,
Starting point is 00:10:33 then my own foresight. So is it safe to say that Luke created the industry here? He, well, we always had Gloria Estefan, Casey and the Sunshine Band. We always had Michael Sterling, nigga, we always had, in a circle,
Starting point is 00:10:47 but the rap music, Luke was like the biggest independent, the major independent. Like you had other labels, you know, Sandim had a label, Bass Station,
Starting point is 00:10:59 or whoever, Candyman, all these, every dope boy had a record label. It just, and then everybody get a local single, but Luke, Candyman, all these, every dope boy had a record label. It just, and then everybody get a local single. But Luke, you know, Luke did more marketing,
Starting point is 00:11:11 promotion, more of an international scale. You know, and there was the controversy. You know, that man was nationwide. Right, right. International at that. So, you know, that's the way I see it because I ain't, shit, I ain't know nothing. I just knew I was playing on the winning team
Starting point is 00:11:24 and I was going, Kobe I ain't know nothing. I just knew I was playing on the winning team. And I was going to Kobe that shit, nigga Jordan. So, because at that time, it really wasn't. And I don't want to label the South in its entirety. But it really wasn't lyrical. Right. To tell you the truth, you're like the first lyrical person that I heard coming from Miami. Is that fair?
Starting point is 00:11:44 I was like, I know there's been people. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Woo, woo, woo, woo. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now, you know, again. I'm sure there's been people. There was, but you didn't hear about them. I didn't hear about them.
Starting point is 00:11:53 On the level? On the level, yeah. Yeah, on the level. So, but how, I know you said with your idols, but what made you want to go lyrical?
Starting point is 00:12:00 What made you not say, let me just stick with bass? If I'm around, if I'm going to talk to you, I'm going to tell you something. I ain't going to waste your ear space. And I ain't going to waste my, you hear me scratch you right now, I ain't going to waste these vocal cords. I plan on singing next year.
Starting point is 00:12:13 Right, right. You know what I'm saying? Right. So y'all, we're around for my new album. It's Zerchie Moneyville. I'm singing. I'm singing next year. Yeah, I do the rap thing.
Starting point is 00:12:24 30 years plus, you know plus I'm from the slang now Go ahead But Yeah man But the rap But again My dudes You know
Starting point is 00:12:33 New York dude I was rapping Because you know It wasn't nothing That was being represented And everybody had Damn near the same rhymes You rapped
Starting point is 00:12:42 The colors You rapped the sodas You rapped the liquors you know I'm like yeah nigga but roll out the red carpet
Starting point is 00:12:50 let the vehicles blow pimp deserves a great you know I talk that Miami shit but yeah but the first album they called y'all
Starting point is 00:12:58 Baby 2 Live yeah Baby 2 Live 2 Live Like Mothers second album though I say it's like Miami's NWA like Fair to Compton. That's what it felt like. Well, that's when me and Dale split.
Starting point is 00:13:08 And by that time, I was like, oh, y'all like that? They went to do Home Team, right? Yeah, they went to do Home Team, y'all. Still my brothers. Still love them. We still love them. We're doing the new Poison Clan. But then when that album—
Starting point is 00:13:18 Nice for that. Yeah. Nice for that. New Poison Clan. Got that. Long live the clan. We got all the members, you know, everybody recording. You know, we got about 10 songs so far.
Starting point is 00:13:27 Anyway, but when we split, by that time I was to the point of, oh, y'all like that. But where they get a load of this? That's when you start getting the actions and the I-Hell's and the whole stories and the say what your mama good. Like, oh, shit, niggas. It's just doing me, nah. It ain't even rapping no more.
Starting point is 00:13:45 It's rep. It's representing now. It's representation. Right. The first album I called that Dib and Harv's album, you got the California producer, New York nigga, and the Miami nigga, I called that their album because I just came in on the street and filled in the blanks.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Right. Like, we would get on the phone, like us three, and we would talk and say, what you got for this beat? We did all that. Then we'd go in the studio, spend all day, all night, you know? But when I wasn't recording, I was, you know, this is whatever I was doing, you know what I'm saying? Real niggas run the yard.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Yeah, I was doing my thing, you know what I'm saying? So that's day out. But by the time I got to Portland, Mentality, that's when everybody left Luke. Everybody was gone from 2 Live to my own team, my boy. You know, I just stuck with him, you know. And I felt like at that time, there was a lot of niggas waiting on him to fold too.
Starting point is 00:14:37 They didn't really like Captain Dick. Like how Wayne stuck with Cash Money. Yeah, I wrote a good example. I rode with him, you know what I'm saying? And I did my thing. But if you listen to Boyz N' Klansman, you'll hear my name a lot in that bitch. I made sure bitch knew who I was after that album.
Starting point is 00:14:55 No, but even the album, as you look at it right now, it's labeled JT and the Boyz N' Klansman. Yeah, that's some creative marketing by the people who won the bankruptcy from Luke and them. And they're using it because they had the right to do so. And that paperwork back then that they won and all that right there. But it's cool, though. I wasn't ready.
Starting point is 00:15:13 They're not lying, though. I wasn't ready. Yeah, they're not lying, though. But I mean, God damn. Holy shit. I wasn't ready. I didn't even know that. JT Money got two separate careers, man.
Starting point is 00:15:24 Sometimes they don't even put me together. If you listen to the radio station like Pan and North Spiral, you won't hear a JT Money song on the Poison Clan station. You won't hear a Poison Clan record on the JT Money station. Only one that'll probably bleed is Shake What Your Mama Gave You. Yeah. Other than that, you won't hear none of those other PC songs if you listen to JT Money radio. That other PC songs If you listen to JT Money Radio
Starting point is 00:15:45 That's crazy If you listen to Poison Clan Radio Which of them all Like on Pandora Yeah Either one of them Like Apple Music or something
Starting point is 00:15:51 Well why They don't put them together It's two different lives That's crazy It's not Does that work out Beneficially for you or I ain't figured it out yet
Starting point is 00:15:59 I want them all out I want all the shit I want them all That's your career All of it is your legacy Yeah well I mean My piece is my piece. So every 30 days
Starting point is 00:16:06 or three months, it'll show up. You know what's fucked up about us is... What year you came out? 1990. The Too Low
Starting point is 00:16:16 Like Mothers album. Okay. So you definitely... I came 96, 97. There was no digital in our country. At all. At all. At all.
Starting point is 00:16:25 So how the fuck do we even go and debate that y'all owe us digital money when we never actually signed a digital deal? That shit is asinine. Listen, I've actually read
Starting point is 00:16:36 lyrics, I mean not lyrics, but concerts and they say for any and other whatever and to come. They putting that in there now. For the next thing y'all in the world. In perpetuity. Shit like that. K-St whatever, and to come. They putting that in their mouth.
Starting point is 00:16:45 For the next thing y'all invent. In perpetuity, shit like that. In case they start selling CDs to elephants. They say, you're right. They own that too. Throughout the universe. Yeah, that's fucked up. Throughout the universe.
Starting point is 00:16:53 That should be fucked up. Yeah, they doing that too, man. They like shit, man. But when Dance All Night came out before the album dropped, so that was, wasn't that 89? This is what I hate before you become the girl that I hate. This is what I hate. Oh, I got that in my notes.
Starting point is 00:17:07 Yeah, that's 89. And then the album dropped in 90. Y'all were running that through the Pac Jam? Yeah. Pac Jam, shit, wherever.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Shit, that 99 Jam was bumping up. I was like, wow. We on the radio. We on the radio. Before DJ Khaled. Yeah, this is what I was waiting for.
Starting point is 00:17:23 All right, let me go to something about Pimpy. Something about Pimpy. Featuring Tushar. Yeah. How did you make this? How did you connect with Tushar? What the fuck is going on? And this record can be played right now.
Starting point is 00:17:38 Yeah. We're playing that shit right now. See, when Alana was the, this was before I went to Atlanta. I was always C-short. C-short moved to Atlanta. Right. He was up there. Right.
Starting point is 00:17:49 And I always wanted to do some business with shows. We always did a lot of shows. So when I finally got a situation with a little budget, I was able to say, hey, man, you know, without being disrespectful. Because, you know, shit, we ain't had no features. That was my first time doing features on Pimping on Wax. Everything else was niggas from the hood, niggas I knew. The Poison Clan, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, we didn't reach out.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Damn, that's far. I remember some little dudes was asking me about a feature, and I go to Luke and say, hey, man, niggas want to do a feature. What you think? He said, I wouldn't do it. So I ain't do it. But I'm not thinking of networking or fucking with nobody somewhere else, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:18:32 Spreading the game. Because I don't know, I guess we was the major independent at the time. And Short was independent as well? He was John. But he was Short, you know? I guess he was doing what he wanted to do. You know, we took care of the paperwork, but, yeah, that was just some shit I wanted to do, like...
Starting point is 00:18:49 And you was on jive at the time, or he was on... No, I was doing priority, capital. Yeah, priority. Capital priority. Who that was on priority? It's Cuban them. Cuban them was over there. Yeah, all the priority. And P and them was over there.
Starting point is 00:19:00 Everybody. A lot of people over there. Snoop and all them niggas, yeah. And you were independent through Priority? I had a situation. Me, Dallas, Austin, and Tony Mercedes. We had a situation, and Dallas had to plug over that capital. Capital told Priority to work it, and I just went out and did what I had to do.
Starting point is 00:19:19 Because, yeah, I was getting more money than I was getting yesterday. Yesterday prices went. Yesterday prices weren't good. Today prices weren't good. Do you like being on the major or do you like being on the independent? I like where I'm at right now. I'm kind of like under the radar but over the bullshit. You know, it's like, you know, skating and shit. I throw the dick when I want to, you know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:19:42 Heisman on the hoes, you know what I'm saying? I'm free, you know what I'm saying? Heisman on them hoes. You know what I'm saying? I'm free. You know what I'm saying? But the major, listen, man, I believe they don't play with the money when they say they're going to give you the money. But then once you got it, I think once you got it, you got it. So don't be trying to come back light with the buck. That's when they're going to get crazy.
Starting point is 00:20:01 But if we say, nigga, I need this right now, I think they're going to do that. The major? Yeah, I think so. That's how they've done me. I ask them what I want. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. So you pick independent or major?
Starting point is 00:20:16 Do I pick? Which one? I'd rather be independent. I went again, Norris. I went again. Yeah. Reason being, because— You heard what he said about that check, though. Of course, of course. That check, that's that major. That's what it is. I went again. Yeah. Reason being, because... You heard what he said, when he bought that check, though.
Starting point is 00:20:25 Of course, of course. That check, that's that major. That's what it is. It's tied to something. I'm always major, he's always independent. Yeah, see? Yeah, see?
Starting point is 00:20:31 We don't mind grinding. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, slow grind. I want pedicures, even though I don't got a pedicure. I don't got no pedicure, but I want head cuts and shit. Then I can pass it on
Starting point is 00:20:40 to the young ones and they can sell it. I don't know. But, yeah, man. Okay. You sell pieces and bits of hip-hop hits, you know what I'm saying? Right. You can rent it out to you. You can't own it.
Starting point is 00:20:51 Who JT would do a versus against? He probably got to get about two or three people to fuck with me. I'm just saying in real life, though. I mean, and you can pick whoever you want to pick. All right, can I keep it local? Like that. Boom! Boom!
Starting point is 00:21:08 Can I keep it local? Huh? You and Trick? Trick my brother. I'll do anything. Listen. See, me and Trick do shows like that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:16 He do a song, I do a song. He do a song. You know, we don't rock the crowds like that. No, no, no, you give it to him. Yeah, we don't rock the crowds like that, you know? But again, hey, man, whatever give it to me. Yeah, we don't rock the crowds like that, you know? But, again, hey, man, whatever they want to do, man. What?
Starting point is 00:21:30 Oh, okay. Alright, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool. So, no, no, no, let's finish asking this question, so, but I'm asking you, though. You're saying, would I? Yeah, would you? Yes, I would. Yes, yes, you would. Yes, I would. Okay, now, now I know. Now, Trish already said, nah, I ain't fucking with nobody from the crib. But, I mean, it's like a celebration.
Starting point is 00:21:46 And that's how we got it. That's how we got it. We got to sell it, as such. But if... Who you betting on against you or Trey? JT Money, man. Okay, okay. I don't even want to get y'all in trouble.
Starting point is 00:22:00 Nah, nah. You put me... All right, let's take one more guess. In a neutral zone. Okay, let's take one more. Because I'm the underdog now. No, no, nah. You put me in a neutral zone. Okay, let's think of one more. Because I'm the underdog now. No, no, no. I'm the underdog everywhere.

Like the Murder, Inc.? Or the Mount Westmore right now? Or like Mount Westmore. What was y'all called? And you got to add Trina. You got to add Trina, right?
Starting point is 00:27:30 I'm working on it. We got to get all these cats in one room together. I'm thinking it's beyond ego and pride. I hope that ain't it. I'm hoping it's busy schedules or priorities at first. Oh, you have this idea? Yeah, I've been trying to get in there. People have been at me for that for the longest.
Starting point is 00:27:48 I'm like, well, stop asking me. Y'all know I'm with it. Just get these other niggas on board, and I'm going to show up to work. You know what I'm saying? I ain't going to lie. I think Trick would it. I think Trina would do it.
Starting point is 00:27:58 I think you just got to send the verses to Rose. I think he'll do it. Me knowing all of y'all. Is it all four? Is the dream all four or is it three of y'all? Well, it was all three. You know,
Starting point is 00:28:10 I figure Trina will be there somewhere. Yeah, she'll be on all the hooks. Yeah. Fuck it then, nigga. I was talking about a couple of verses. A couple of verses.
Starting point is 00:28:20 You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. So what's the name of the group if it ever happened? Never thought that far. The Crib. Yeah. So what's the name of the group if it ever happened? Never thought that far. The Crib. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:28:36 The Crib. I like it. I like it. You ain't get it? It's coming. Oh, shit. I'm glad. Okay, all right.
Starting point is 00:28:42 I'm going to put that in there. Y'all niggas over here are feeling me. The Crib. It's good here He love being from 305 That's one thing about y'all Miami People y'all love Being from Miami Okay relax cameraman What is it
Starting point is 00:28:59 What is it about this Miami pride I don't know I think we think we different. It's just like y'all New York niggas. Y'all thought y'all was the center of the world. Y'all thought y'all was the center of the world. And then we like. You go that New York shot again.
Starting point is 00:29:15 Yeah, see now we like this. One, two left. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Y'all a mountain pod. We a mountain pod. Yeah, that's very true. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 00:29:22 Y'all got ports. We got ports. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, that shit was being dropped in our backyard. You know what I'm saying? Y'all got ports. We got ports. You know what I'm saying? Yeah, that shit was being dropped in our backyard. You know what I'm saying? We drive up. Center of the world in the 80s. I'm going to give y'all one thing.
Starting point is 00:29:31 I'm going to give y'all one thing. And I'm born and raised in New York, but I've been out here quite some time. I'm going to give y'all one thing that y'all 1 million percent clearly beat us on. What? This is the most corrupt place in the world. Hey, man. This is the most corrupt place in the world. You can buy anything, anywhere, at any hour, from anybody. Okay, look. See, the way you explained it, it sounds like good to me.
Starting point is 00:29:54 I go out of place, I was like, man, these niggas ain't hustling around here. Because if I want to go somewhere foreign and want to get me a drink or buy me some weed, I should be able to do something. Right, right, right. I was a grown ass man. It's not, you know, you go to places, like I remember
Starting point is 00:30:10 when I was driving down from Atlanta to have my team with me, I would pull over at six in the morning just to show them I can go in the liquor store and just to show them,
Starting point is 00:30:18 see, this is what we do here. There's a liquor store around here. It's called 23. Yeah, 23. 23 hours. They just added that
Starting point is 00:30:23 back then, 2000 and something, where you gotta close one hour. By the way, I'm gonna be honest. When I, in New York, at 12 o'clock,
Starting point is 00:30:31 our liquor store was closed. So when I first started coming out here, I would ask, where's the bootlegger? Because after 12, in New York, we'll go to a bootlegger.
Starting point is 00:30:39 And your $30 bottle of Hennessy is now $95. Right. And I would ask people when I came out here, when I first moved out here, we're the bootlegger. And they would just look at me like,
Starting point is 00:30:47 what bootlegger, motherfucker? We could go to the back of the liquor store. I'm like, it's 2 a.m. They're like, no, it's open. I'm like, what the fuck is what I do? Miami's a corrupt motherfucker. Well, that's not the corrupt part of it. I mean, that's the beginning of it.
Starting point is 00:31:02 You know what I'm saying? I can speak for the Cuban side of it. Cuban politicians. And then another thing. And then another thing. This is another thing that I learned early on in Miami. The strip club is not really a strip club. It's a business place.
Starting point is 00:31:14 It's a club. It's a meeting center. Meeting place. You can have dinner there. You can have dinner there. Like, there's nothing sexual about a strip club when you actually in Miami. Like, when you first
Starting point is 00:31:26 hear about it, you're like, oh, okay. Especially if you're a girl not from Miami or don't, like,
Starting point is 00:31:31 what are you going to Tootsies for? You're like, I'm going to have a meeting. I'm like, well, the chef is five star.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Yeah, the chef is five star. Like, really? And then your girl looking at you like, really? And then she wind up
Starting point is 00:31:43 going in and she's like, I got a meeting at Tootsies. Yeah, shit is real. The chef, She's like, I got a meeting at Tootsie's. Yeah, shit is real. The chef, that fried lobster is serious. Make some noise for the fried lobster. Holy moly guacamole. The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration in the United States.

But not everyone was convinced it was that simple. Cops believed everything that Taser told them. Starting point is 00:35:09 Come clean. Let's talk about that. Come at all. Yeah. Motivational record. You know, scripture. You know what I'm saying? If you're going to do it, do it all the way or don't do it at all. Come clean or don't come at all. Because when you half-step, that's when motherfuckers fall. Who had the name of that record first,
Starting point is 00:35:25 you or J. Roodle the Damager? Mm, that's right. He had a record because I was listening to it. You want a front, uh. That ain't blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue, blue. That DJ Premier produced, yeah. This nigga hip hop. That wasn't.
Starting point is 00:35:39 He had a hip hop to do it like that, too. That was hella hip hop right there. All the young niggas in the room don't get what's going on. But you know what I'm talking about, right? That was the real hip hop. I'm from all that shit, man. Nah, nah, that's the real hip hop shit. I didn't know that was here, but come clean was a sin.
Starting point is 00:35:57 It's always been a sin. Come clean and don't come at all. Or, I can't clean on that shit, you better come clean. And it's like, whether it's information or just the game. You know, your car, your outfit. You got to come clean. We go out and, you know, I'm on here with y'all today, nigga. I better come clean.
Starting point is 00:36:15 No, no, you clean. I better get it, yeah. You clean. So if he did it then, then that means he beat me on that one. Okay. I might have to shoot to that. I'm one of my favorite rockers. So one of the days,
Starting point is 00:36:29 this is one of the first days. This is crazy. I know I told the story. I told the story with Trick before. But we were on tour. It's me, Big Pun. Trick, I forget who else. I believe Fat Joe was on this.
Starting point is 00:36:44 But Trick calls me to his room. Trick is rolling the blunt. So it's all black at first. This is when, you know, we didn't have green weed back then. Like, all you fucking green weed assholes. Like, we had brown weed back then. Like, we had, he used to call it a tie-dye. Yacht stick and shit like that.
Starting point is 00:37:01 So Trick is rolling up. And then before I know it, like his blunt went from brown to straight white. And then he flipped it. And you know, we from New York, so we don't know what the fuck going on. And he lit that, and we knew that was a different smell.
Starting point is 00:37:21 I know that shit was different. We knew that was a different smell. And to this year, and then years later, I would still see Trick and I would see him in So Be Live and I'm like,
Starting point is 00:37:32 Trick Daddy is here. Like, I would never see him. You gotta see him now. He on the whole other side. I'm like, Trick Daddy here. They're like, no, you're not.
Starting point is 00:37:40 I'm like, yes, he is. And sure enough, is that what Dank is? Or was? Somebody version, yeah. Okay. But like, when, he is. And showing up. Is that what dank is? Or was? Somebody's version, yeah. But like when I was saying dank, I was just calling weed dank anyway. Smoking on some good dank.
Starting point is 00:37:53 Good dank. But yeah, people was talking about bunkalation. Bunk, bunk. Yeah, bunk. Like, you know, dirty, heavy. Heavy that. This is what I knew. Miami is an ill place.
Starting point is 00:38:10 I asked a dude one time, I don't want to say his name because he kind of famous too. And I said, yo, why you smoke that shit? Swear to God, he looked at me in my face and said, this is more pure than weed. He told me, cocaine? Cocaine? I'm going to tell you something. and said, this is more pure than weed. He told me, cocaine? Yes. I'm going to tell you something, man. He's going to defend that point of view.
Starting point is 00:38:33 Picture your gramps telling you that. Yeah, man. Motherfucker trying to hide this good high. This good shit. That other shit. And I'm sitting there like, wow. Nigga saying, no, this is better than the good high. That's that good clean high.
Starting point is 00:38:46 Yeah, man. Some people believe that. No, that's it. That's it. I mean, weed, though. How you going to compete with weed, though? Weed is like the new crack now anyway. Right.
Starting point is 00:38:58 Like, it's more weed all over. So can I tell you all my weed story? Okay, let's go. Let's go. Listen, man. Come on, let's get that weed. I go a million places, right? Uh-huh. And then I always said it out the best of the best.
Starting point is 00:39:13 Now they about tired of me because I don't be smoking all day no more. I did my seven years on papers clean. Did you just say 70 years? Seven. Okay, all right. Seven years. Wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:39:24 You know, everybody got their formula and method. Like, no, Jay, all you got to do, you can still smoke, but you just take 70 years? Seven. Okay, all right. Seven years. Wait a minute. You know, everybody got their formula and method. Like, no, Jay, all you got to do, you can still smoke, but you just take this and do it. I say, no, nigga. That's not, I'm going to just stay out. I'm not going to piss dirty. If me being out here, if all I got to do is not smoke, and, you know, I'm a single parent at the time. I got my two young niggas. That's what I'm talking about.
Starting point is 00:39:41 That's what I'm talking about. That's what I'm talking about. So, when I got off papers, niggas like, oh, boy, let me get you high one. That's what I'm talking about. That's what I'm talking about. That's what I'm talking about. So when I got off papers, niggas like, oh, let me get you a hot one. I tried to hit that shit once. What?
Starting point is 00:39:50 Like, nigga, you talking about, man, what the fuck is y'all smoking? This ain't reefer no more. What the fuck is this shit? I'm talking about
Starting point is 00:39:57 hiding a bet. Like, even today, I still try, if you was smoking, I'd be like, well, nigga,
Starting point is 00:40:03 I hit it because it's you. But at one time, you try to pass me, I'm like, nigga, I don't want that shit. Yeah, it's that razz in the head. I don't smoke. Yeah. But I found me something else. Okay, what you got? What you got in there?
Starting point is 00:40:13 A new JT Money thing. Okay. It's more medicinal versus recreational, y'all see? Oh, the drops. Yeah, man. That looks like it come from Dr. Sabian. That's that magic potion. No.
Starting point is 00:40:23 That's all. Yeah. And the ailment pain, you know what I'm saying? Yeah. You want to just get a bud? Is it CBD or not CBD? No, this is definitely. That's definitely not CBD the way he talked about it.
Starting point is 00:40:31 This is definitely THC. Yeah, that's fire, so you ain't got the smoke. Yeah, right. You know what I'm saying? Again, I'm trying to bring my vocal cords back because I'm singing that shit. What? You playing around when you're singing? You're singing or you going to sing?
Starting point is 00:40:42 I'm going to sing, man. You're going to sing? Yeah, man. Why not? I just got to do it in my key. gonna sing? I'm gonna sing, man. You gonna sing? Yeah, man. Why not? I just gotta do it in my key. All right. I mean, autotune make everybody sound good. Autotune make everybody sound good.
Starting point is 00:40:52 Some producer might figure it out. I ain't gonna tell y'all. We had T.I. and Boosie here, and they both told us that they're doing an album together. If you had a chance to do an album together, obviously besides the Crib album, what would it be?
Starting point is 00:41:07 One artist that you could collab with. Who would you want to? Face, short, cute. One of them niggas. You know, unless you're going to get me, Kooj, Rocky, or McCain, you're going to get me some shit like that. And I do my part, they do their part.
Starting point is 00:41:22 Let's go. All right, but if you had one. Nigga, Chuck D, nigga. I do the dirty part. I do the dirty part. Chuck D do the other part. I do the Grammy. Chuck D do the- So you will replace Flavor Flav? No, I'm rapping. I'm rapping. You didn't say Flavor on the record. It's a whole new group. He gonna do this shit.
Starting point is 00:41:41 Flav gonna do the- Fight the power, nigga. You know- Okay, what would the name of the group be called? JT Money and Chuck D. What was this? Chuck D or JT Money? It's got to be something 360. It's got to be something with the full circle.

Starting point is 00:42:58 I was here before. Yo, that should be the next name of your album. JT discovers America. That is hard. And look like you got Christopher Columbus. Yo, that should be the next name of your album. JT discovers America. That is hard. And look like you got a Christopher Columbus. Like, fuck him. That's going to be my boss.
Starting point is 00:43:15 Fuck Christopher Columbus. Jesus, I'm sorry. That sounded harsh. You ain't never heard a nigga say fuck Christopher Columbus. It's crazy. Like, I'm going way too far. I'm going way too far. Well, we ain't fucking him,
Starting point is 00:43:26 but I was there first, though. You know what I'm saying? But he got the credit. You know what I'm saying? Who you talking about, Luke? No, Christopher Columbus. Oh, yeah, yeah. And I was there.
Starting point is 00:43:34 Well, speaking about Luke, before we get into Quick Time with Slime, what was y'all's problem when y'all had a problem? Because like you said, you stuck around, you held the ship, and then y'all eventually
Starting point is 00:43:45 wound up. Well, everybody say the same thing. You know, it's always financial. You know what I'm saying? One knee getting the money, other knee is probably
Starting point is 00:43:55 watching outside looking and feeling like they should be getting more. Now, I don't know nobody's deal. I don't know nothing. Like, my thing, me personally, I was getting more money than I was getting the rest of my freedom. I didn't know the business, but I figured I was strong enough to
Starting point is 00:44:11 learn. You know, I bumped my head that whole way to this table today. Ain't nobody taught me shit. I'm really trial and error, everything. So, and then I look at Luke, right? Like, that line, Paul said, picture Jews being handed to an innocent child. Like, he don't know what he got in his hand. He don't know what it's going to be. It's just a diamond. He just put it in his mouth, throw it around. It's a rock to him.
Starting point is 00:44:35 He don't know. So, that's how I look at him. The gang was still fairly young. You know, you remember just a couple years before that, K.R. Russell was a rapper in the hole and even 20 years old. That was just a couple years before Luke. Yeah, Luke was still learning. That's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:44:51 But everybody, but, I mean, I still think they could have split more money then. You know what I'm saying? I think they could have shared some money. Because if that's all it takes for y'all not to tear up my house, here, man, it's the bag. Let's bust this bitch over and let's keep getting this money. Unless I'm thinking small of myself. Is there nothing, nigga?
Starting point is 00:45:10 It's mine. Fuck y'all niggas off. Because I heard one time he tried to, like, you got in trouble and he hired, like, a $90,000 lawyer. He tried to. I wouldn't let him pay for that. But, oh, yeah, shout out to Uncle Luke. Listen, I was getting y'all, Luke come get you, man. Luke come get you.
Starting point is 00:45:22 Yeah, Luke come get you, man. Luke spend that money come get you, man. I don't got to anybody. I was like, listen, man come get you, man. Luke come get you. Yeah, Luke come get you, man. Luke's playing money, come get you, man. I don't tell anybody. I was like, listen, man, before every album came out. You got locked up. Yeah, I was. What the fuck is going on? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:45:34 Y'all niggas, man. Y'all niggas, man. You know what I'm saying? Look at that bullshit. Luke come get you, though. But the Fed thing was, I was like, nah, bro, that's not me. I ain't doing it. But when the Fed's coming, you know, they really got something.
Starting point is 00:45:46 I said, nigga, this time they ain't got shit. Right. They didn't. So, you know. You beat the case. Yeah, listen, I'm finna take it to trial. And it's time to go to trial. Like, came from the ship, from the hotel.
Starting point is 00:45:59 And you go through that door to go into the courtroom. They let me out that door. I walk out there, my old girl got a, my mama got a bag of clothes. I'm like. Wow. They ain't had nothing for me, and I was only locked up because I violated. I stopped back smoking.
Starting point is 00:46:12 I was out on bond for a year, and it's like, me motherfuckers ain't got nothing on me. Fuck y'all, I'm gonna stop smoking. Soon as I, oh, it was Daytona, spring break, Black, Black Beak Week. So, you know. Black Micah Week? Yeah, Black Beach, Daytona.
Starting point is 00:46:24 Oh, okay. And Freaknik was, like, a week apart. So, you know, I'm going, but I know like my good week. Yeah, Black Beach, Daytona. Oh, okay Weep apart, you know going but I had to piss every week So I came in this one we can just drop and left. I ain't wait on the Hulk I went up the freaking it when I came back next week like it roped you Yes, I had to sit but I think trial was coming up about four six months or something. I had to see but shit nigga But I think trial was coming up about four, six months or something. I had to sit. Wow. But shit, nigga. They had nothing on me.
Starting point is 00:46:52 You know you could have got, when you was riding with him and you had about three. I said, well, y'all should have did y'all job. He said, y'all had me in the car with three keys? That's too crazy. And y'all ain't get me. With three keys? Yeah. I'm the youngest nigga in the crew.
Starting point is 00:47:06 They thinking I'm finna talk about it. I'm like, listen, man, I'm the youngest nigga in the crew. They thinking I'm finna talk about it. Like, listen, man, I wasn't getting none of that money. Them niggas like to hang with me because I'm live. You know, bitches like me. They got the money, I got the fame, or whatever the fuck it was. I get my own money, you know, some shit like that. You know what I'm saying? We was talking about putting the money in the rap game.
Starting point is 00:47:24 Nigga, I'm selling no dope, nigga. You know. Like, man, I see some of the niggas today, and we be like, boy, we had all that money. I wish we knew then what we knew. I say that's every old nigga favorite line. That's the way it always is, yeah. Say that line again. If we knew then what we knew now.
Starting point is 00:47:35 Oh, yeah. That's every old. If you ask one of my kids, I say, what's every old nigga favorite line? They gonna say, if I knew then what I knew. I say, so if you listen to me now, motherfucker, you can be ahead of the game because I'm only going to get you. But I understand adolescence. I understand thinking they know it all.
Starting point is 00:47:52 Listen, I ain't going to parent on y'all niggas' shit. We drinking. Yeah, but you know what's crazy? They always blame our generation for not teaching the younger generation, right? But I'd be scared to embrace the younger generation, right? But I'd be scared to embrace the younger generation, not to think that they're going to embrace us back.
Starting point is 00:48:10 Is that something that we're doing wrong? How do you feel about embracing the younger generation? I want to embrace them, but I don't want them to be like, you old nigga, like, wait a minute. I mean, like, I'm talking about,
Starting point is 00:48:20 like, you know, publicly, like, yo, that nigga, like, you old nigga, like, wait a minute. Like, they're not going to reciprocate. When they call you OG, I'm, like, upping up with them. Sometimes I got to rhyme. I said, sometimes they call you know, publicly, like, yo, and then it be like, yo, old nigga, like, wait a minute. Like, they're not going to reciprocate. Yeah, no, you just got to do it. When they call you OG, I'm, like, upping up with that. But sometimes, I got to rhyme.
Starting point is 00:48:28 I said, sometimes they call you OG, but they don't really mean it. They just calling you old. You got to read in between it. You know what I mean? I felt that way the first time when I came home, they started that unk shit. I thought they was trying to make me old. I'm like, fuck you, man. But then it's a sign of respect.
Starting point is 00:48:42 Right, right. Like, because me, I'm going to be there. Okay, check. I'm going to be there. But, check. I'm going to be there. But, you know, I don't let a young nigga get away, man. And I get it. You can't see how you ever picture me rolling a little nigga. Okay.
Starting point is 00:48:53 You know, that's your uncles and your big brothers. You know what I'm saying? Whatever, nigga. But I'm going to give you what I got for you. So don't think too much on that. Just give them young niggas their game. If they receive it, they do it. Leave them to war if they don't drink.
Starting point is 00:49:04 Show them love. If they don't show it back, that's on them. Yeah, that's on them. Have game. If they receive it, they do it. Right. Leave them to war if they don't drink. Show them love. If they don't show it back, that's on them. Yeah, that's on them. Have you ever tried to, like, show a young person love and they, like, kind of looked at you
Starting point is 00:49:10 like, whatever? No, but I've had real young and they ain't know who the fuck was talking to them or what I was talking about. Okay. But they was too young
Starting point is 00:49:19 to even understand, but I had some, yeah, just remember that day, because, like, 10 years from now, you're going to be like, damn. Oh, that's that nigga. You know, I'm just
Starting point is 00:49:29 planting them seeds, man, on niggas. Nah, real shit. Real shit. Want to do a quick time? Let's go. All right, you set it off. You got to explain them the game. We always fuck up the explanation. You pick one answer out of two names we give you. If you pick both and neither, we drinking.
Starting point is 00:49:46 If you pick one, nobody drinks. So one, we drink. We're giving you two things. If I pick both, we drinking. Both or neither. You got to pick one. Both or neither. If not, we drinking.

Starting point is 00:50:35 Give me a little shot. So then y'all owe me another because you do Pac and DML. That's like the same vein. Oh, then you want to take a shot? We can go back. We've never done this before. We can go back. If you do two, then I owe y'all one. Okay, okay. I like that. You're about to drink the same vein. Oh, then you want to take a shot? We can go back. We've never done this before. Yeah, we got to do two, then I owe y'all one.
Starting point is 00:50:46 Okay, okay. I like that. You're about to drink the whole list? Yeah, I like that. Well, y'all got a hard one for me. No, no, no. Because, you know, it's certain that like Park and DM, they had a reaction. Like it was a certain reciprocation for them niggas on the street where they related.
Starting point is 00:51:02 And I feel they had the same energy. Yeah, that energy. Until I got that third light, had it on my chest. Like they identified. Them niggas on the street where they related. And I feel they had the same energy. Yeah, that energy. Until I got that thug light, turned it on my chest light. They identified. Them niggas identified with that. Right. That thug in me.
Starting point is 00:51:11 That's the thug. Yeah, so... All right, so I did model. Okay. All right, next one. Cocos or Rolex? I'm a Rolex dealer. Okay.

Starting point is 01:04:43 I'm doing it honestly. He's just talking about every Khaled. I'm on both sides of looking in and the same side of looking out. It seems like he's picking Khaled. I'm saying you talking to me personally. No matter what. No. He just talking about pre-cowlitz. I'm on the other side of looking in and the same side of looking out. It doesn't seem like he's picking cowlitz. I'm just being honest. Yeah, say cowlitz. Right, pre-cowlitz. Just say cowlitz and anybody somewhere else.
Starting point is 01:04:56 And I'm going to say cowlitz. But you say nasty or eps. You know what I'm saying? You say Uncle Al. You say Chico. Rest in peace, Uncle Chico. Yeah, I'm like, hey, man. Yeah, that's me.
Starting point is 01:05:07 All that shit there is me. Okay. Which leads you to Uncle Al. Slick Vic or Disco Dave. Man, John Pony, Disco Dave, man. That's my shit. Mix CDs, nigga. Klay D, Gucci Crew.
Starting point is 01:05:22 That ain't him. I'm going to do Klay D, though, because he had them fonts, man. Clay D. Yeah. Go ahead. You got to do Uncle Al. Oh. Uncle Al or Jam Pony Express.
Starting point is 01:05:35 I mean, you're putting one DJ against the whole crew, but I know where you're going. Right. All right, we talking about the CDs? Because Jam Pony got way more hard of CDs and older funk. Al is another generation. But nah, Al is my guy. You know how I feel. But Jam Pony, that's the culture, man.
Starting point is 01:05:54 That's where all that shit come from. You know what I'm saying? I ain't heard nobody rock the mic like Vicnum before Vicnum. I don't care who they is or who they say they are. That's something different. Jim Pony mastered that shit.
Starting point is 01:06:09 Like, you picture Disco Day, his thing was mean time, echo, slow down. That was his thing. But when it comes to that. What was that? What, Chopped and Screwed? Chopped and Screwed. Slow down, right. But we didn't have them chopped and screwed.
Starting point is 01:06:22 We just had them slowed down. Slowed down. We didn't do the tech, tech, tech. Right. the... But these crews, they all sped it up. And they cut the music out and did rhymes. Y'all get it up. But that's what it is, really. If you think about it, it's the speed of Miami.
Starting point is 01:06:36 I know what's going on. You ever seen your video up on that? They got a chipmunk version of your video. They got Ronnie out up there, chipmunk version. You're a damn nigga. You're a motherfucking nigga. They will turn Michael Jackson's song to a bass right now.
Starting point is 01:06:51 They got it. Let's sample that, motherfucker. They got it. Shit got real. This is the last question. Everyone thinks this trick question me and EFN does not. Loyalty or respect? That I prefer or that I give. That's a trick question me and EFN does not? Loyalty or respect? That I prefer or that I give.
Starting point is 01:07:08 That's a good question. Man, nobody ever put it back. No, because they don't hear y'all. They think it's a trick question. Yeah. How about whichever way you want to answer it? Loyalty or respect?
Starting point is 01:07:18 I think the respect going to draw the loyalty. If you respect somebody, you respect it, you will be loyal to it. But if you loyal to something, then you later on don't respect it, you will be loyal to it. But if you're loyal to something, then you later on don't respect it, you're going to be like, fuck that nigga, I'm going to get him.
Starting point is 01:07:30 I think. Like, just say I'm being loyal to the set right now, then I figure out the set ain't the set that I thought it was. I lost respect for the set, so therefore I'm going to lose my loyalty, right? But I respect something that I ain't committed yet.
Starting point is 01:07:46 I tend to get loyal to it because I respect it, because that shit stays solid all the time. Sounds like a shot to me. Sounds like a shot to me. Yeah, it definitely sounds like a shot. I think respect on this. I think that makes sense. Loyalty is a tattoo.
Starting point is 01:07:59 Loyalty is a tattoo to these niggas. Yeah, this nigga done made sense to both of them, and I was with him on both. That's why you got a nigga. I got one more shot. He actually, he said one and turned it into both.
Starting point is 01:08:09 Right, man. I'm taking a, this is the first time we ever did this. I'm taking a double shot. I'm with you, brother. because that fucked me up. You approved one side
Starting point is 01:08:18 and then you approved the other. Then we can see it, right? We put it all on the scale. We're going to make it make sense. Okay. You going to take a double shot with me though, right? Yes, brother. I We're going to make it make sense. Okay. You're going to take a double shot with me, though, right? Yes, brother.
Starting point is 01:08:26 I don't want to be outside by myself. And you too, right, sir? I'm going to go Chico. All right, cool. How did mine get double shot? Like, when I meant double shot. Because you put ice in it, bro. No, I meant double shot.
Starting point is 01:08:38 It's double shot. Can we do that one time? This is it. One, two, three. This is my last shot. You don't want a double shot? I'm with you, man. All right, cool. Shit, I'm going to go with it. That ain't a double shot, though. That's definitely a last shot. This is my last shot. You don't want a double shot? I'm with you, man. All right, cool.
Starting point is 01:08:46 Shit, I'm going to go with it. That ain't a double shot, though. That's definitely a single shot. Let's load them up. Right. I'm with you, brother. Huh? Oh, yeah, I got that.
Starting point is 01:08:54 I got that, yeah. I'm going to set it up. When I say go, then you go. Salud. Salud. Salud. Cheers, cheers. I'm single shooting.
Starting point is 01:09:02 Salud. Oh, fuck. Yeah. We've been waiting to do this. Make it over, J.J.! But I asked you who you would do a versus with. Yeah. And here's one more record that we would have to hear on Versus.
Starting point is 01:09:26 Immediately, that's going to crush everyone's bones. Let's go, Mr. Lee! Hey, I'm out of here. Uh-huh. Here we go. No, that, all right, that was my New York shit. All right, remember that A.A.O.? All right. Yo, but another thing that...
Starting point is 01:09:41 That was my New York shit. Another thing that we listening to, and a lot of people pointing this out to me, they kind of said, this is not us, they kind of said that Juvenile kind of borrowed your style. Uh-huh. I heard that before, but I love Juvenile too. And that's all I'm going to say about that because I'm a fan of him. But I've heard that before, but you know.
Starting point is 01:10:09 And he ain't got nothing but love and respect. Now, he never came and say, J-Boy, you know I love him. He ain't say it, so I ain't going to say it to him. But have you ever listened to it and felt a little bit
Starting point is 01:10:21 of your influence in there? Well. Like immediately, like we was was going through the discography. As soon as we heard it, someone said, Juvenile got that shit from him. Like, immediately. I mean, Big Ups Juvenile, he's a... I could say that, but I got another thing how I do it.
Starting point is 01:10:36 Like, certain records I hit with certain people, I be like, shit, I think I made that shit for me. I say he had that J Spirit on him when he did that. Because I feel that shit. Like, it's certain records different artists making. I was like, I had to be right there with him because this shit feel too good to me. Mind and spirit.
Starting point is 01:10:53 Some kind of way. It wasn't about... We all really grow off each other. Influence off each other. With me, I invented the whip. Did you ever feel like I invented the whip. Yeah, just go. Take off.
Starting point is 01:11:06 Did you ever feel like it, though? No. Well, not, I've heard it a couple times, but I never felt like, oh, that nigga bit my, I never felt that. All right, no.
Starting point is 01:11:14 I felt like, he doing, but now I have been comments under my shit, like, oh, nigga trying to sound like Juvenile. Like, they want to say, those who only heard Juvenile, they ain't never heard me.
Starting point is 01:11:26 Oh, shit. This is a fucked up world. You know, I don't do it, though. I'm like, trigger finger, trigger finger. What you saying? Fuck, nigga, pussy, nigga, what you talking about? Right, right, right, right, right. Fuck, nigga, pussy, nigga, but I can't do that shit, though.
Starting point is 01:11:42 Yo, hit that who that one more time. Hit that who that one more time. Come on, man. Hit that who that one more time. Come on, man. Hit that who that one more time. Play the whole verse until the next chorus. That's how you know no one else is an artist here. You play the verse until the next chorus. You ever met Biggie?
Starting point is 01:11:54 No, that's the only one I didn't meet. And I went to his first show in Miami. I went to his first show in Miami. The one at the Mahi Temple? Mahi Temple. I was there. You was there? What, about 10 hours in the building?
Starting point is 01:12:04 Yeah, yeah. And Gangsta Shorty's opened up. Mahi Temple. You was there? What, about 10 of us in the building? Yeah, yeah. And the Gangsta Shorties opened up. Yeah, yeah. I was back there. Good job, Miami. Y'all think, yo. They get to be. Who came to their first show there, too?
Starting point is 01:12:14 Mahi Temple. Yeah, yeah. Damn, where was that at? Coconut Grove? No, that's in North Miami somewhere around here. This thing was big. Hit that one more time. What happened?
Starting point is 01:12:27 League. He don't know how to read the instructions in English Play it in Dominican I'm talking about What is it? Bullshit and party Party and bullshit Party and bullshit That was the song
Starting point is 01:12:37 See I was talking about that shit But the niggas Honey in the back looking right The niggas is right They weren't playing Honey in the back looking right. The niggas in this round, they want to play. All right, now. I got to act straight up now. Act straight up about the other y'all.
Starting point is 01:12:58 What kind of drugs was in this session? Listen. That's not a normal game, brother. That was just monster. It was the energy, man. But I did hear a story that I thought my story was the version, but the producer was on somebody else's show and said another version of the story. And I'm like, hmm, I don't remember that one. Because I heard that they tried to get us a TLC.
Starting point is 01:13:16 Oh, yeah. Now, I said that. But Tony Mercedes came to me and said, yeah, man. They heard, like, LaFayette used to take their label out on the cruise or whatever. You know, yearly thing. And Tone was like, you know, me and Tone was working. He said, I let him play all that shit, you know, what's coming up for the next year. He said, yeah, I waited.
Starting point is 01:13:35 And I played your shit, Jay. The boat went crazy. And the nigga was like, damn, Tone, what's up with that record? And nigga L.A. was like, man, just get that nigga 50,000 or something. I was like, nigga, fuck that. I don't know motherfucking 50,000. Bitch, that's my record. Let's just think about it, though.A. would say, man, just give that nigga 50,000 or something. I was like, nigga, fuck that. I don't want no motherfucking 50,000, bitch. That's my record. Let's just think about it, though.
Starting point is 01:13:48 Let's think about, had you took that 50,000, TLC would've been singing, who that, who that, who that, who that? I don't know how it would've went. That would've been so crazy. And they even said, well, shucks, forgive my people. Don't go, J.
Starting point is 01:14:01 You should've done a remix with them on it. Aye, aye, aye, aye, aye, aye, aye. It would have been the biggest. It's possible. I ain't going to lie. Were you on the record? So what, I would have just did the hook? But see, now you wasn't getting that.
Starting point is 01:14:16 That's the verse. No, this forever has to be his record. Yeah, but what day was it on the remix? I'm asking. On the remix at the end. I'm asking. What if you would have just gave it away? I don't know. We would have had to see. What if you would have just gave it away? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:14:26 We would have had to see. What if I would have? I'd have had $50,000. Nah, but you got... But I already got $100 from him. Listen, I already got $100 from him. Right. I don't need the other $50.
Starting point is 01:14:35 Right. You know what I'm saying? So how does this happen? They on a boat, they play the record, and then they come to you and say that. No, I wasn't there. I know. When the nigga came by,
Starting point is 01:14:44 your tone said, yeah, boy, I played your shit, and it went crazy. No, I wasn't there. I know. When the nigga came back, y'all told him, say, yeah, boy, I played your shit, and it went crazy. And, man, I just had to ask. I knew he was going to say that. Because I was like, man, fuck that. They come to you and say, we'll give you $50,000 for the whole record, but you...
Starting point is 01:14:55 Well, he told Tom to say this. I want that record. And he's like, man, that's a king deal. That's the man's record. Now, he's just getting a nigga $50,000 or something. I'm like, boy, I wish I was there for that conversation. Wow. No, nigga, how about $50 million?
Starting point is 01:15:08 Let's talk about it. You want it that bad, nigga? At least a million. Come on, man. I would have grabbed it, nigga. You know what I'm saying? You would have gave them the whole record. Listen, man, I would have promised the bitch $100,000.
Starting point is 01:15:18 Come on, bitch, I need you to do something for me. I'm going to give you $100,000. I'm going to get $50 million from this nigga. Not to be stalled. I'm drinking, man. I'm drinking. I'm drinking, man. I'm drinking, man. I'm going to get $100,000. I'm going to get $50 million from this nigga. Not to be stout. I'm drinking, man. I'm drinking. I'm drinking, man. I'm drinking, man. I'm drinking.
Starting point is 01:15:29 I'm drinking, man. I'm drinking, man. So let's get back to making the record, though. Yeah. Y'all in the studio, this beat plays. No, we hang out the night before. Okay. Now, this is my version of the story.
Starting point is 01:15:41 We're hanging out, and, you know, we got to set up, you know what I'm saying? This is before making the rain and all that. But we got bottles. We got pictures. You know, version of the story. We're hanging out, and, you know, we got to set up, you know what I'm saying, just before making it rain and all that. But we got bottles, we got pictures, you know, we in the club. What club is this? This is Atlanta, right? It was called the Gentleman's Club back then in Atlanta. It wasn't right there. That right downtown by the Marriott Marquis.
Starting point is 01:15:56 I think it used to be Club 112 as well? No, it used to be 112. This is Gentleman's Club. Okay, Gentleman's. GC. But we left. We left that motherfucker about 3, 4, 5 in the morning. All I know is a nigga called me. I think I got home about 5 in the morning.
Starting point is 01:16:14 Nigga called me about 9 o'clock like, Poochie, you got to get back to the studio, man. We got this record, man. So I jumped in the ass up. We get there. And that's what they had on the thing. They had the hook. They had the ay-ya-ya part.
Starting point is 01:16:26 You know, I just added my harmonies and plans and everything. Wait, so you walk in, the beat is playing ah-ya-ya-ya-ya-ya-ya. Yeah, what they was doing. No who that, no who that. Yeah, none of that was there yet. It was just the ah-ya-ya. But they had the who the, uh. It wasn't done right.
Starting point is 01:16:40 He had a, I guess he had the idea, because I remember building it, you know. Like demoing it. Yeah, certain voices that's in there now that wasn't there. Get your memory back. Get your memory back. Let's make some noise. Let's make some noise.
Starting point is 01:16:55 Motherfucking JT, motherfucking legend out this motherfucker. I got that live resume. You're going to be fucked up. I'm throwing it out there. I anticipated. I anticipated. live resume. You're going to be fucked up. I'm throwing it out there. Right. I anticipated. I anticipated. That's his dirty. Yeah, I anticipated.
Starting point is 01:17:09 So you're in the studio. Right. He only got the ah, ah, ah. And how do you put this together? What's the first thing that comes to your mind, if you remember? Well, we was talking about the night before. Because while we were hanging out, we got all this going, it was just different dudes coming around.
Starting point is 01:17:26 And I can remember, well, who that? That's your man? Who that? So that's where I'm thinking they got the idea from. Because I remember these conversations the night before. So who that? So who that? That's your man?
Starting point is 01:17:38 That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man?
Starting point is 01:17:39 That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man?
Starting point is 01:17:39 That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man?
Starting point is 01:17:40 That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man?
Starting point is 01:17:40 That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man?
Starting point is 01:17:40 That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's your man? That's Your man? Yeah, who that? Because now there's these new people.
Starting point is 01:17:46 You know, it was four cars with us riding. Right, right. But now it's 14. The nigga came with somebody that wasn't invited. Who that? Yeah, they just starting to come up. They coming up. They moving in.
Starting point is 01:17:56 But they moving in, you know? Holy. It's like the bitches. They'll just shake your ass, try to post something. You know how many people come around us and we don't know who that is? Who they is? Yeah. And that's what that was.
Starting point is 01:18:04 I should have made a song too. Yeah. Yeah, man. Take it. It's some genius shit. Take it to the next level. Y'all do it to the next level. Listen.
Starting point is 01:18:11 So when they was like, yo, who that? I'm thinking that's where we going. Who that? So that's why my verses was, well, who that off brand? Like, we on the, trying to hang with the click. Flodging like you came with the click. But would you bang with the clique if it was thick, or do you just ride dick?
Starting point is 01:18:27 Because, player, I don't know you, nigga. Tell me who you with. Clearly. If you ain't with the squad, you bound to get scarred. I was today years old when I realized. It's like a boy running in my head. Over my head. Because it's us.
Starting point is 01:18:39 I know us. And in my mind, it's us against everything else going on. But so now, how is he so comfortable that close to you? Like, so what's up? That's your guy. Like, you know what I'm saying? Who that? Yeah, who that?
Starting point is 01:18:53 So, you know, we got to lean on niggas or turn our backs and protect our shit. You know, whatever we doing. That way I was out. I don't know where nobody else was with it, but that way I was with it. That shit was born the night before. Yeah, the night before. That's crazy. Four hours of sleep, three hours of sleep.
Starting point is 01:19:11 I'm finna go to sleep, and they're like, Trey, boy, you gotta come back, boy, we got this record. But see, now, boom, Triggie got a version of the story. He say he been had that beat, and he done, Triggie Stewart, the one who produced it. Okay. He say he been had that beat, and he done tried all kind of different rappers on it,
Starting point is 01:19:27 but it ain't come out right until we did it. Now, I ain't know nobody in the world ever heard that beat before. I thought this night happened. We had a good night. He went in the studio, couldn't sleep. Got on that shit and called me back. That's my version of it. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 01:19:43 His version is he gave it to... Yeah, well, he didn't give nobody shit. If he fucking with him, they come through, they let him drop, but if they ain't snap, I guess he gonna erase it or delete it or whatever. You know what I'm saying? Like, I good and that bitch will make it mine. You know, I'll show you what that pussy made for.
Starting point is 01:19:58 Give me that pussy. Give me that pussy, girl. The drink challenge, baby. I'm just drinking. I'm just drinking, baby. Drink challenge, baby. I'm just drinking I'm just drinking, baby Drink challenge, baby I'm just drinking Hey, somebody came in

And did you know that Professor Griff from Public Enemy was signed to Luke Records? Hell no. Yeah, so we had to wait a year. And I found out. Because Professor Griff was going to come out before you. What was he going Luke Records? Hell no. Yeah, so we had to wait a year. And I found out. Like, I was going to go.
Starting point is 01:22:05 Because Professor Gripper's going to come out before you. What was he going to do? The hype. I could see him on records. His name. His name. Yeah, but remember,
Starting point is 01:22:13 he had some controversy that Luke was the only one that would take him in. Would take him, because Luke was the controversial label. Yeah, yeah. For lack of a better term. The first Kanye.
Starting point is 01:22:22 Ooh. Yeah. I went too far? I mean, it's accurate. In terms of what was going on. Moving on. That happened. It did.
Starting point is 01:22:37 The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration in the United States. Recipients have done the improbable, showing immense bravery and sacrifice in the name of something much bigger than themselves. This medal is for the men who went down that day. It's for the families of those who didn't make it. I'm J.R. Martinez. I'm a U.S. Army veteran myself, and I'm honored to tell you the stories of these heroes on the new season of Medal of Honor, Stories of Courage from Pushkin Industries and iHeart Podcast. From Robert Blake, the first black sailor to be awarded the medal, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice. These are stories about people who have distinguished themselves by acts of valor, going above and beyond the call of duty.
Starting point is 01:23:28 You'll hear about what they did, what it meant, and what their stories tell us about the nature of courage and sacrifice. Listen to Medal of Honor on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A lot of times the big economic forces we hear about on the news show up in our lives in small ways. Three or four days a week, I would buy two cups of banana pudding. But the price has gone up, so now I only buy one.
Starting point is 01:23:59 The demand curve in action. And that's just one of the things we'll be covering on Everybody's Business from Bloomberg Businessweek. I'm Max Chavkin. And I'm Stacey Vanek-Smith. Every Friday, we will be diving into the biggest stories in business, taking a look at what's going on, why it matters, and consumer spending expert Amanda Mull will take you inside the boardrooms, the backrooms, even the signal chats that make our economy tick. Hey, I want to learn about VeChain. I want to buy some blockchain or whatever it is that
Starting point is 01:24:35 they're doing. So listen to Everybody's Business on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I know a lot of cops, and they get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your gun? Sometimes the answer is yes. But there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always be no. Across the country, cops called this taser the revolution. But not everyone was convinced it was that simple.
Starting point is 01:25:05 Cops believed everything that Taser told them. From Lava for Good and the team that brought you Bone Valley comes a story about what happened when a multi-billion dollar company dedicated itself to one visionary mission. This is Absolute Season 1. Taser Incorporated. I get right back there and it's bad. It's really, really, really bad.
Starting point is 01:25:31 Listen to new episodes of Absolute Season 1, Taser Incorporated, on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Binge episodes 1, 2, and 3 on May 21st, and episodes 4, 5, and 6 on June 4th. Ad-free at Lava for Good Plus on Apple Podcasts. So we waited a year, but I was the only other clan. I was like, damn, we can't even say, oh, they heard us and then they made up the whatever clan. Right.
Starting point is 01:26:02 You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Oh, so you're trying to say... Because there wasn't no clans. At one point, y'all thought that the Wu-Tang clan... They saying X-Clan. No. Oh, X-Clan. No, we didn't say. I said we couldn't say it. Like, we couldn't say,
Starting point is 01:26:15 like, fuck, in our world, there wasn't no other clans. It wasn't no other clans. But then, one time, when the X-Clan came out? I think their record came before ours. That was like 88. Because we had to wait.
Starting point is 01:26:32 Or 87. Because we had to wait. Yeah, we had to wait that year. 89, right? So it was around the same time. It would have been 89, right. So I couldn't say, oh, them niggas. But again, we was into that music, so we liked that shit anyway.
Starting point is 01:26:46 With the kids. But did y'all notice how they took all that music away from us, though? Well, you can't even download that. No, yeah, but just all that type of game, just the difference of us, all our different shades and hues of wherever we at in this. You're now Kill People Music. Yeah, man. There's no diversity in there, right? Let's sell our dope nigga and our clothes nigga,
Starting point is 01:27:10 you know what I'm saying? Even y'all, like when I'm doing the research, y'all always had that bass like as a first single, and then you had... Some other stuff. Yeah. And then even just the process of making an album, we tried to have a record like this.
Starting point is 01:27:26 Now we need something like this. Now we need something like this. It wasn't whatever that single was, you do 10 of those or try to make 10 of those same records. That's proof they don't give a fuck. It's like, man, if that shit work, keep doing that. Don't be no artist. Don't try to express yourself.
Starting point is 01:27:46 Don't try to be creative, nigga. This is what works. Stick to the script. Right. That's the game. So it's easy for a nigga. All right, picture the hoe. If all she got to do is bend over and show no emotion,
Starting point is 01:27:59 she going to get her money. Oh, I ain't never even seen her. Yeah, right. Picture the hoe. You understand what I'm saying? Just like, uh-uh, okay, my $40. Uh-uh, uh-uh, I ain't never even seen it. Right. You understand what I'm saying? Just like, uh-uh, okay, my $40.
Starting point is 01:28:07 Uh-uh, uh-uh, I'm going to get my $40. You know, it doesn't matter. It's easy. But if you're a motherfucker with some integrity and dignity,
Starting point is 01:28:17 if you, I'm an artist and I'm serious about my shit. If you some Erykah Badu, y'all remember that line? You got to be hip hop to know this, man. You got to be hip hop. Yeah. I'm serious about my shit. But you some Erykah Badu, y'all remember that line? You gotta be hip hop to know this, man. You gotta be hip hop.
Starting point is 01:28:25 Yeah. I'm serious about my shit. If you like that, it's like, oh man, I hate, but don't nobody want to hear that. How you know
Starting point is 01:28:32 what the fuck they want to hear? Right. Because we sold this on you last time. But who to say I can't sell this today
Starting point is 01:28:40 and this tomorrow? Whatever, man. I don't know, but it's the game. I understand business. I don't know, but it's the game. I understand business. I ain't no hater of business, but, you know, I like freedom.
Starting point is 01:28:50 But the question of independence, I like independence because if I wake up one day and decide I want to slide to the left, yeah, I can do that.
Starting point is 01:28:58 Slide to the right. If I can do that. One step, two steps. Risk, right. Go ahead, go ahead, go ahead. Whatever works. You know, because you don't know what's, listen, man. All right, you shooting that mill, you throwing rocks at me. If I just keep going around, all you're going to do is keep hitting me, right?
Starting point is 01:29:14 Right. I got a fake one time, a duck or something, right? The fuck they think this shit, man. It's real life, man. So let me ask you, right? Because I thought I made the best skit of all time. Animal Thug? Animal Thug. And then today, I
Starting point is 01:29:29 found out that some people... Animal Thug, what? What? No, no, no, that's a different thing. It's about you, it's about you, it's about you. Hold on, hold on, hold on. Oh, because now I got a story about that record right there.
Starting point is 01:29:43 Somebody told me today, you have one of the best skits of all time. So I had to go research it. Do you know what skit I'm talking about? Why Must I Chase the Cat? That's what they say. What does it say? Yeah, so it says...
Starting point is 01:29:59 Why Must I Chase the Cat? Yeah, see, that's the feedback I've been getting. Now let's make some noise for that. Come on. Come on, Come on. Come on. Come on. And I actually made that.
Starting point is 01:30:12 So you heard this rumor. You understand that there's a possibility in the whole game of rap you might have made the best skit of all times. You know that? Nah. Well,
Starting point is 01:30:21 they say I was good at it. They say, Jay, you don't do that shit no more. Why you ain't do it? I say, y'all ain't listen to that no more. Y'all listen to the single. The first 10 seconds of a record. First 30 seconds, that's all y'all wanna hear.
Starting point is 01:30:32 Y'all don't wanna hear what? Lead to the record no more? Right. The skit era was dope. Excuse me, brought that up, pimped my whole shit. You don't even want your pussy wet. You just wanna get hit, bitch. Nah, I'm sorry, man.
Starting point is 01:30:43 Forgive me, y'all. I'm sorry, man. Drink chow y'all. I'm sorry, man. Drink challenge. Sonny get a flashback. Drink challenge. But nah, but y'all get what I'm saying. But you did hit. Okay, forget the word.
Starting point is 01:30:52 No foreplay. Foreplay. How about that? That's cleaner? I like it. You can say what I'm fucking saying. You ain't had to. You ain't had to.
Starting point is 01:31:00 I'm just fucking with y'all, man. I figure whoever editing, I'm going to cut whatever they cut in. No, no, no. We ain't cutting shit. Ain't much getting edited out of it. But you heard that that's one of the best skits. Skit.
Starting point is 01:31:10 I have heard that. But then there's other, well, no, I ain't finna sell no skits, though. I got Pimp vs. USA interlude as well. Yeah. Yeah. Obviously, you like Chase the Cat better, right? No. I don't like, man.
Starting point is 01:31:26 I think whatever I was doing, make the record make sense. Or make the, like, if I did this and I feel like it needs something else, you're like, nah, that shit is it. But I'm like, well, let me put this before so it can make sense to me. A smooth transition, you know? A ramp. A straight. Whatever it is, though. Make it feel good versus
Starting point is 01:31:50 a prick. You know, sometimes they squeeze the shit and they stick you. Or they just stick that motherfucker in and you be like, ah, shit. You know what I mean? I got you now. Let's take another shot I got no
Starting point is 01:32:06 I'm in I'm in I'm in I'm finna start Answering questions Alright but There's another one In the joints
Starting point is 01:32:11 Rap ass nigga Yeah man I think I think everybody In the game Would appreciate that Right now That shit
Starting point is 01:32:19 That work can work Right now I thought that Rap ass nigga Right And you gotta think about it That's them people I don't know Alright you sitting In your mind In your bed Nigga holding your ear With that shit I thought that... He's a rap ass nigga. Right. And you gotta think about it. That's them people who...
Starting point is 01:32:25 I don't know. They just... All right, you sitting there minding your business, nigga, holding your ear with that shit. Yeah, but I'm the next nigga. But I could do this. I mean, nigga, I told you they could bring you back, put you back on top of what it like.
Starting point is 01:32:36 Yeah, we don't, yo. I'm in here to tell you I don't even want nothing. I'm like, man, stop being stupid, man. They just rap ass niggas. Yeah, that rap shit, man. Get out of there, man. Yeah. Fuck outta here. Oh, wait, you were gonna say something about Super Thug. Yeah, that rap shit, man. Get out of there, man. Yeah. Fuck outta here.
Starting point is 01:32:45 Oh wait, you were going to say something about Super Thug. Yeah, because that was my record. Listen, I could be at a show, right? Or I could be, whatever I was doing. There's certain records that my nigga Wade knew what to play. Like, you could play, what, what, what? And I could be like this. Come on.
Starting point is 01:33:04 And I'm like this back. Right. Stabs of body. Got to stabs of body. You asked me about the energy. Whatever the fuck that was, that's the shit we was on. Yeah, yeah. That's the energy, check.
Starting point is 01:33:14 What, what? But I don't know if y'all remember when the mixtape part, this is what it sound like when we ride on it. It's certain songs I would lift up to. That's fine. 400 Degrees, Corporate Thug in Jersey. Like, there's certain songs
Starting point is 01:33:29 like, them niggas thought about me when they made these records, man. Make some noise for that, God damn it. Them niggas thought about me when they made
Starting point is 01:33:36 these records. Fill him up. Are you taking another shot? Oh, damn, they already got me filled up. This is crazy. This is crazy. All right.
Starting point is 01:33:44 Too real. Y'all know this how I be anyway, so y'all ain't going to get me drunk. I'm going to get y'all fucked up. No, no, no, no. No, no, no, no. No, because I do this for a living, man. Let me just tell you something. We waited for this moment.
Starting point is 01:33:54 Don't talk of shit right now. Because you know why? I'm a born and raised New York guy, but I lived out here for 15, I'm going on 16 years. 16 years. Yeah. And I adapted going on 16 years. 16 years. And I adapted The Crib. The Crib adapted me. I love it. The show was born out here in Miami.
Starting point is 01:34:12 And the show was born out in Miami. And from the moment we started this, they said, you got to give JT money. His motherfucking flowers. And this was fun. And let me just finish, and I promise you. And this is an honor.
Starting point is 01:34:26 We wanted to make for a special moment to give you your flowers at a special time because I'm going to be honest, I had to do research, research, because I wanted to really let you know.
Starting point is 01:34:39 I know we know each other and you guys know each other, but this is an honor, a pleasure, and we didn't want to fall short in any which way. Thank you, brother. I appreciate it. So, salute. Blessings.
Starting point is 01:34:52 And this is your motherfucking house. This is your motherfucking house. No, no, no. Take that shot, goddammit. Oh, damn. You took it away? Yeah, yeah. Van Junk.
Starting point is 01:35:03 But look, though. Now, here go the funny part, right? I done actually seen people tag us all. Yes, there it is. But it seem like I'm bothering y'all. No, uh-uh, uh-uh. Like, y'all leave me alone. No, uh-uh.
Starting point is 01:35:14 Y'all hit them niggas, but don't. Nah, nah, your fans really come out. But they let me make Jay White throw niggas to get yours. No, no, your fans really come out. And let's just take time out to represent for your fans. Yeah, sure. Yo, yo, they fans really come out. And let's just take time out to represent for your fans. Yeah, sure.
Starting point is 01:35:26 Yo, yo, they know what's up. What's the name of your fan club? Because everybody got a name for their fan club. What's the name of your fan club? Well, it used to be family, because it was never just fan, because like, all right, one thing I noticed, and see, you're going to make,
Starting point is 01:35:40 y'all be pulling it out, man. The JT Money thing funny. Like, only niggas who fuck with me, fuck with me. Mm-hmm. If they don't fuck, like, if they on that rap shit and they don't know what they don't know, they're like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay. But the niggas who fuck with me think,
Starting point is 01:35:56 oh, I'm brother, yeah. Yeah. You know, like, only niggas who fuck with me, fuck with me. Like, if they don't fuck with me, they stay away from me. Like, snakes and pigs and rats, they stay away from me. Snakes, like, all these niggas who fuck with me, fuck with me. Like, if they don't fuck with me, they stay away from me. Like, snakes and pigs and rats, they stay away from me. Snakes, pigs, and rats. They're going to stay away from me. They know, you know, ah.
Starting point is 01:36:12 Anyway, but what the fuck I was saying? I just want to take a shot because of that. I have no idea what happened. Snake, pigs, and rats? Snake, pigs, and rats. Oh, damn. They stay away. I'm thinking about snakes and peas and rats.
Starting point is 01:36:23 I'm like, what the fuck? Yeah, snakes, pigs, and rats. And I'm thinking about snakes and peas and rats. I'm like, what the fuck? Yeah, snakes, peas, and rats. And I'm thinking about the greenest peas ever. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm thinking about the greenest peas ever. So I'm like, all right, my bad. Now I get it. Yeah, they stay away from them.
Starting point is 01:36:33 But yeah, that's just the funny part about it. So with that being said, like, one time with a fan, it got to a point with me where the only reason I was still like, I still make records because a nigga be like, damn, you ain't gonna give us nothing else? It ain't like niggas was like, man, you didn't get that shit up.
Starting point is 01:36:53 Sit down, nigga. I'll get you a job. Nigga, you need to quit. Why you here, nigga? Go lay down. Nigga like, damn, nigga, we waiting on you. So I would do something.
Starting point is 01:37:03 Well, as an outsider looking in, as an insider looking out, I don't know why I keep saying that. Without the situation. What I'm telling you is, you got real fans, brother. Like, these brothers, these people, these people, I'm talking about every day for six years. We're going on seven years. Yep, seven years in a row. There's at least 13 to 30 people that hit us dead. When you going to have JT?
Starting point is 01:37:25 Since year one. Since year one. have JT? Since year one. Since year one. Since year one. I'm talking about since day one. But I'm saying, it's the same here. Listen, that's the reason
Starting point is 01:37:30 I work today. But just in case you don't see them, we see them for you. And they out there and that's why we really wanted to give you your flowers.
Starting point is 01:37:39 Yeah, and I'm home and I appreciate it. I appreciate it. But they the reason I still work. You got to think of people who started when I started. And especially in the positional year, because, you know, again, I was always on the door.
Starting point is 01:37:54 No label really knew what to do with me. So it was always about my record. My record is bigger than the artist. This song, y'all heard that song before. Oh, that's who made that song? They don't know who made that song. Listen,
Starting point is 01:38:09 my fans is the reason I still work today. Like, how many niggas started with me can't even give away free shows? But me, I'm rocking with these motherfuckers and they still pay me, so.
Starting point is 01:38:18 Right, right. Thank y'all. That's all. You hear a funny story? What, what? I forget one time I was somewhere and a dude bumps into me. He's talking about the record being bigger than you.
Starting point is 01:38:33 Dude bumps into me. I turn and look at him. The record come on. What? He's beefing me the whole time. Right, like he made that. He was singing my shit. That's you. That's why. And. That's why.
Starting point is 01:38:46 And beefing with me. And I'm looking because we all surrounded him. He had no idea. Right. And we was going to beat the shit out of him to my record as well. But he had good taste. But I had good taste. He had good flavor.
Starting point is 01:38:57 I ain't went to. I ain't went to. So I definitely walked away. I definitely was like, all right. And I got one for that. Look, I think I'm so good today, right? I got to, all right, I done told niggas this before. I say, fans really don't give a fuck.
Starting point is 01:39:09 They want what they want. Even if they say, I don't mean to, I don't give a fuck. They want what they want. Want some fan shit. But nigga, hear your record. You know what I'm saying? You and them, they say, well, damn, nigga, what about that? What you was talking about?
Starting point is 01:39:21 You got to say what you mean. What you looking for? Right. But I'm so good, I got a way of talking to a nigga, and they be like, you see how ugly that shit could have got? Come on, man, let's go get a drink, man. Right. But you see how ugly
Starting point is 01:39:34 that shit could have got? They don't give a fuck. But in their mind, they trying to impress you, and they trying to impress and test. Oxymoron. This shit don't make sense. You want to impress me or you want to test me test. It don't, oxymoron. This shit don't make sense. You want to impress me or you want to test me?
Starting point is 01:39:48 What we doing? I'm confused, man. Because, but I'm so good at it, man. Hey, man. Yeah, nigga. Yeah. You don't flip it on me. Yeah, you see. Right.
Starting point is 01:39:57 Right. Don't worry about that shit. Come on, man. Let's go have some fun, man. Because that's why we're here. You know. Who you came to see? You know, pause here here. You know? Who you came to see? You know, pause it.
Starting point is 01:40:06 It's something. Who you came to see? Whatever, man. All this. Everything relate back to a song with me anyway, just in case y'all ain't know. I might always talk, and then it's going to go back to a lyric or something. Let me ask you one more. Too Real.
Starting point is 01:40:21 That girl. Mm. Who is that? That was a chick named Evil. But originally, it was a chick named Lady Cartel, Trisha from Jacksonville. But, damn, that's a good one, because nobody in the world ever heard it.
Starting point is 01:40:39 So let me tell you all this story. I did the song originally with this chick from Jacksonville. It was cold in. Duval. Jacksonville. It was cold in. Duval. Duval. Duval. It was cold in. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:40:51 Before that one came out, I got fucked up. Got locked up again? Yeah. But... This nigga done. Because Tone and the chick... Locked up more than Robin Downey Jr. Yeah, Tone and the chick was trying to cut a deal behind my back.
Starting point is 01:41:06 Without me, like, oh, nigga, the nigga still, you know, he can't tell me what to do. Nigga, I run this shit, nigga. I say. So, you know, I ain't do nothing, but, you know, shit was called. It was a violation of my program. So I had to go sit. They did the deal. But then, while I'm locked up, they do whatever they do, and they fall out. So now you want to put another bitch on the fill in the blank.
Starting point is 01:41:27 If you'd have heard the original, the record would have been way harder. Like, I didn't change my lyrics to fit up. You didn't like it because it was just good, too? Because you ain't heard the original. Ooh. That is why. The idea of the song is that. But if you would have heard, all right, who that?
Starting point is 01:41:46 Remember I say the night before the lyric and everything just makes sense when you listen to it. You can see the movie. Because ain't Ginuwine trying to kill you? Hold on, say that again. Ginuwine did what? Ginuwine tried to kill you. No, man, I introduced him to Soleil. You introduced him? Yeah, we was at the show, man.
Starting point is 01:42:04 Ginuwine was my guy, man. And they was giddy. Ew, we want to Soleil. You introduced him? Oh! Yeah, we was at the show, man. J-Mown was my guy, man. And they was giddy. Ew, we want to meet him. We want to meet him. And I'm like, hey, boy. Hold on, did we finish down the story before I jumped in? I said, hey, boy, you know what I'm saying? And then, you know, years later, they married.
Starting point is 01:42:14 You know, a kid, but. Oh, yeah. I was about to say they was finger popping, but no. You got to relax. Yeah. Finger popping. But I'm just saying, like, we was straight to the real shit. I think we was in the Bahamas Nigga
Starting point is 01:42:25 It could have been What hotel? SLS? I really don't know The Hyatt? Probably I don't know I'm trying to get
Starting point is 01:42:32 Hella specific Right Alright These always come in right You don't remember that night Listen shows They all Are you saying
Starting point is 01:42:41 On Dream Champs I'm saying Not only Did you have Soleil on the record But but you introduced Soleil to Genuwine? You got damn right. And I'm saying it on Dream Champs. Listen, they came to me, her, her dancers, and her friends. And they're like, ooh, we want a man.
Starting point is 01:42:57 And then whatever it was, because we had to do a few shows. And they're like, bro, hey, so-and-so. Genuwine did it for you. Yeah. And he was on the pony at that time. Probably. He was on the pony? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:43:09 He was riding that horn. In my mind, he was riding around riding a pony. But because you got to picture a lot of people, they always just ask about, what about you and Soleil? I'm like, no, nigga, strictly professional. It was never no nothing. And because Soleil was signed to L.A. Reid, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:43:26 And you were signed to L.A. Reid. The producer. That's how she... Listen, who that? I originally did three verses to who that. So you didn't want Soleil on there? No. I didn't know her yet.
Starting point is 01:43:35 Okay. I didn't know her yet. Then when I did it, Trigger and them was like, yeah, boy, you should put my female on there. Like, while we was working, he done played it right. You know, you're in the studio with somebody, you hear what they working on, they order. So I done heard a few songs.
Starting point is 01:43:50 And then he like, man, you should let me put on that hook, boy. You know, put a female on there. I got this order. And I said, well, let me see the picture. Let me see her. Okay. Because I wanted to see her. Because, like, let's just be clear.
Starting point is 01:44:03 We were bozo men back in the days. We bought Lil' Kim's album because she was spread eagle. We bought... Foxy. We bought Foxy because she was... But they still had the cap chart. They still had the cap chart. And then we realized that.
Starting point is 01:44:17 They can spit. They can spit. They can spit. We like T-Pain MC Light not so much because that was before us. They didn't need to do that. They didn't need to do that. Right. Okay.
Starting point is 01:44:25 So, with that being said, it was just like, well, shit, let me see her. And then when I saw them like shit, run that shit. Then they did it. We cut my first verse. Listen, I did three 16s on that song. Mm-hmm. But then I got an 8 and a 12, then see how this thing, you know, format. Listen, I've been doing records before 316s and I was doing records until we finished rapping.
Starting point is 01:44:51 Right. You know, we wasn't selling beats and hooks back then. I'm from that era. Yes, I understand. You know, but I'm from the era when they thought rap was going to die. Right. But this shit going to fade out. This shit ain't going to last.
Starting point is 01:45:02 It's a fad. Yeah, I'm from that era. So we ain't had no format. You know, four minutes, not two minutes. Nigga's record was seven minutes. I'm from that era where they had eight-minute records, but we didn't do that. But still.
Starting point is 01:45:19 Listen, man, I'm just saying, man. And a classic was born. Yeah, man, I was in cassette tapes, man. But how did you introduce her to Genuine? What happened? We was at a show. I think we rocked. I was getting ready to rock.
Starting point is 01:45:33 Or he just got through rocking. They wanted to say hello. And Genuine, he did. He was riding his pony. Yeah, he probably was like, hey, how y'all doing? I was like, what's up, girl? What you doing? You know, he was about to say, whatever you doing?
Starting point is 01:45:44 I don't know what. I want a dog. My baby was dancing in the dust., they say, whatever you doing. I don't know what. I want dog. My thing is a dog. Oh, you said, you said. He just brought them together. You said, this the y'all, this the y'all, and now y'all. Right, boom. They want to meet you, all right?
Starting point is 01:45:53 Yeah. Because we brought a, all right, boom. I came with three chicks. One of them or two of them want to meet you. I'm going to let them meet you. My one that stay by me, she going to see, because she can meet you too.
Starting point is 01:46:07 We talking about genuine with the S-curl, right? We talking about whatever, whatever we talking about. Does he have finger brains? I'm just trying to make, I'm making, it makes sense.
Starting point is 01:46:14 All right. Yes, I like this. I like that. I'm in there. I'm in there. I'm in there. So what I'm saying is, hey man,
Starting point is 01:46:24 you know what I'm saying, it's my brother, it's my baby. You know, I'm playing. You know what I'm saying? And let's have fun. You's what I'm saying. Hey, man, you know what I'm saying? It's my brother, it's my baby. You know, I play it. You know what I'm saying? And let's have fun. You know what I'm saying? But I'm saying, nothing ain't got nothing to do with nothing, man. Real what's going to stay, man.
Starting point is 01:46:36 You know what I'm saying? Truth is forever, lies before a moment. Truth is forever, lies before a moment. When the smoke clears, the truth gonna still be here. So no matter how much smoke and mirrors, no matter what they do, when the wind blow, it's your
Starting point is 01:46:53 nigga, man. It's your dog. You know what I'm saying? That's all I'm saying, man. In the name of love, of course. Y'all laughing at me. They laughing at me. But in the name of Whole Problems Right Whoever name that is
Starting point is 01:47:11 No No that's the name Of your song sir Yeah Cause Whole Problems Ain't no problem But nah If your whole one to go
Starting point is 01:47:17 Let her go Let her go God I like this Cause listen Alright that's one That's one of the funniest Records right On that same album I gotta Alright I gotta tell you I'm just tell you God, I like this. Because listen, all right, that's one of the funniest records, right?
Starting point is 01:47:26 On that same album. All right, I got to tell you. I'm just going to tell you. I ain't going to tell you why I got to tell you. I'm just going to tell you. That was one of the records, I didn't care who liked it, but I'm picking this one for my album, for me. But did you have a hole that was ready to go and you had to let it go?
Starting point is 01:47:45 No, that's just the situation of life. All right, when I first... See, I got to take you all the way back to the bitch ass. I got to take you back to Poison Clan. Like, they say I changed the mind state of niggas in my state. Do you understand that? Mars. So now, niggas see like
Starting point is 01:48:06 We already got enough To deal with Man We can't have These problems here as well Like listen here bitch Tighten up You either whip me
Starting point is 01:48:14 Or yank like Come on man I got shit to do And I think you fly I think you raw girl And I'm willing to But Bitch
Starting point is 01:48:24 I'm not hitting the gas And the brakes at the same time. I'm not trying to spin out. It's a mindset, all right? So with that, I already did the I.A. Hoes, I did the Push Your Pad, I already did the song, The Bitch House Is Born, right? So that's Poison Clan, not JT Money Solo. So now when I do Whole Problem, I'm thinking, I don't know who liked this song.
Starting point is 01:48:48 Because they like Who That. They like Whole Problems. I mean, not Whole Problems. They like Who That. What the shit is with Big Yacht? They like All Right. They like these songs because that's the vibe they was on. The industry people.
Starting point is 01:49:06 Who That a funny song because they dropped who that and i don't even know what the second song oh all right on that album which it should have been something about pimping but the is that priority yeah they were like no man let us do it man i'm telling you this is the record because me and tony mercedes had something about pimping we like We're like, boy, we're going to drop who that? We're going to drop something about Pimpin'. They said, I'm going to go. They wanted to drop All Right, because it sounds almost who that ish. It's that crunk shit.
Starting point is 01:49:34 It was still crunk. But now we're artists, because I want to do something like this. I want to do something like this. Show the versatility. It's the different audiences. I ain't trying to stay here with these kids. Like, your Uncle Jay here, but not your brother here. You know, more of us.
Starting point is 01:49:53 Boy, I feel like I'm just going, right? Nah, you good, you good, you good. But, boom, I was trying to say it's a funny song. Because, listen, I was doing shows, and then based on the hype or the algorithms at the time
Starting point is 01:50:09 or whatever it was, they wanted to hear that. So, then I would get through the show like I'm finna do it and they're like, people still waiting like,
Starting point is 01:50:19 nigga, you're not gonna do a whole problem? What the fuck you doing? Like, how you gonna not do a whole problem? I'm like,
Starting point is 01:50:24 oh, y'all like this song. That same shit happened to me with Run the Yard. Damn, that's in my notes. Sherry Gang, them songs, like, the reason I get booked today, I'll tell you. Look, just so you know, that's in my notes, too. Run the Yard. Run the Yard, look at that.
Starting point is 01:50:38 The reason I tell you about that today, because it's the truth. I get booked for Hope Rhymes and Run the Yard. Sherry Gang, Who That, Hollow, Shake It With Your Mama Gaya. Shake It With Your Mama Gaya. Oh, that's bonus.
Starting point is 01:50:50 That's extra. Like, oh shit, he did that too. But them young niggas on the street, they want to hear I used to be a nigga. Every day, they want to be a nigga.
Starting point is 01:50:58 There it go. Like, that's the reason they booked me today, nigga, and kited the boy. Like, I write certain songs
Starting point is 01:51:05 I can't go nowhere and not perform I don't give a fuck what new I'm trying to do it's gonna be like yeah whatever J nigga I was waiting to hear my song
Starting point is 01:51:15 right nigga we paid nigga we paid you for my song nigga like bitch I didn't court justice this is what I'm giving you
Starting point is 01:51:22 I'm just saying fans don't give a fuck. Real niggas run the yard. Real niggas run the yard. Nigga. Run the yard, no problems. Kite to the boys. Kite to the boys.
Starting point is 01:51:34 Come on, stop. Stop doing my interview for me. Kite to the boys is my next conversation. Yeah. Just so you know. I saw it when you showed up in front of the yard. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I saw it, though.
Starting point is 01:51:44 Stop, stop, Stop stealing my interview. Come on. Kite to the boys. Oh, yeah. Well, shit, that was it. I wrote a letter. That's actually a real letter I tried to send home to the boys. That's when I violated my probation.
Starting point is 01:52:00 When I was sitting there. You violated your probation a lot, sir. The federal. No, I wasn't on papers then. The second or third time, the last three or four times was violence. Man.
Starting point is 01:52:11 The first four or five times it was stupidness. No, I'm just playing now. Listen. Wow. Yeah, well, that was just that. That was my story. Like, Kite of the Boys,
Starting point is 01:52:22 Mama Dearest, Father of the Son, those really letters I wrote back home, and I sent them home, but... And you turned them into folk. I was with that rap shit then. Right. And I wrote it lyrically,
Starting point is 01:52:34 but then niggas was able to see it. Like, all right, here goes something else. They be telling me, like, you don't tell stories no more, man. You know, I'm so busy trying to say, nigga, I'm so-and-so. I'm this, I'm that. But they all just, what?
Starting point is 01:52:47 Yeah, that rap shit. Right. Yeah, instead of spitting them stories. Right. That shit we know, facing them, talking the story. So that's what my people say I used to do for them, vividly. Exactly. So that's kind of one of those stories.
Starting point is 01:53:03 Like, they done been locked up, or if they get locked up after they heard that song, they know how to do their bit. That's all I hear. If I go to jail after hearing this song, I know how to survive. And we talking about Kite to the Boys. Kite to the Boys, yes. But then they could also take Run the Yard. Yes.
Starting point is 01:53:24 Listen, Run the Yard, that was supposed to be on Straight Zoo, wasn't it? I did that record three times before it came out that way. I never throw away that good shit. Listen, I be waiting on the right beat. There's certain things you either know or you don't know. There's certain things you know. There went already. Oh, you had the flu too.
Starting point is 01:53:42 And that was one of them records, man. I did that shit three times before it came out And that's that live resin there too that's that yaka That's that y'all are here showing with it how it look like It look like dink a little bit. Show them how it look like. The, um, the, um, the razz. Look, show them, show them. Look.
Starting point is 01:54:11 Bring it on over. Yeah, show them. Yeah. It look like we out here. I'm glad y'all ain't had me walking. It look like, it look like I'm a Miami nigga in the hole. When you look at that. See, man? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:54:19 It's something about the beautiful packaging. Y'all can sell, y'all can sell me some shit on some good packaging. I'm going to buy one for me. I'm going to buy one to hang over. You know what I mean? And it's not light, ladies and gentlemen. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:54:34 Please take that for yourself. Take that for yourself. Well, if you don't see it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you don't see it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Holy moly, guacamole. I got so much more.
Starting point is 01:54:42 All right, cool. Take what your mama gave you, man. Yeah. That's such a classic, man. First time Luke and them took me to the strip club. In Atlanta now. What happened? Wait, Luke?
Starting point is 01:54:56 Yeah, Luke too. We went too fast. Yep. You just said. The first time. First time you ever went to a strip club with Luke. No, right. In Atlanta? And I stayed in the car the first time. First time you ever went to a strip club with Luke. No, right. In Atlanta?
Starting point is 01:55:07 And I stayed in the car the first time. Then we went to the second place. Then I went in. So what was the first place you ever went to? I don't know. What was the second place that you got into? You got to remember the finger popping story. That could have been I don't know. Players Club? No, no, no. It was in Atlanta. It was early. Not Magic City?
Starting point is 01:55:24 Second place could have been Magic City. Okay. But me, you got to picture me coming out too low like mothers. I'm 17, probably just turned 18. But you've been in the... Oh, this is your first time in a strip club. First time. But Pac Jam was like a strip club, damn near.
Starting point is 01:55:39 No, not then. Like then, no. Listen, what the fuck am I going there for and just give some bitch my money? I'm not, I'm just crabbing. I'm tight. I don't, whatever we was on, we was shorty. I wasn't, we always had butt-naked girls in Miami, so we had skin to win with.
Starting point is 01:55:58 They just walk around with, so I'm not understanding the process. Picture me rolling, man. Then I go in there, and I enjoy myself. So I'm not understanding the process. Picture me rolling, now. Then I go in there, and I enjoy myself. It's beyond you just giving some bitch some money you can't take with you. To get a good conversation as well. Whatever the vibe, whatever it was, then you're around other money, other monies. Because, you know, we are around the same little hood, you know.
Starting point is 01:56:23 Yep. No nigga can advance you over here, but over here, a whole nother world. You see a new color, a new shade. Mm-hmm. You know what I'm saying? I ain't even going to go into the dimension of a new shade. That shit look a little... Anyway, came back home.
Starting point is 01:56:43 Here go the lyrics. Hovering over in the spreadsheet. Letting it seem good. That was the part. Hold me over and spread your butt cheek. Let niggas see I'm good. That was inspiring. That's how it went. Like, it wasn't like I was at the club every week. No, nigga, I went that night.
Starting point is 01:57:00 And I was like, hold me over and spread your butt cheek. Boom. Listen, I'm going to tell you about the beat. Devil said he gave me three beats. I picked this one. He said, nah, you can't get that. I said, why the fuck he gave it to me then? I wrote it to this beat.
Starting point is 01:57:18 But through intervention, he said, nah, I want it on this beat. And this is the beat that made it. Boom, ka-boom, ka-boom, ka-boom, ka-boom. You understand? Like, it was beyond what I thought or what he thought. Listen, man, I'm talking about gang. I picked this beat. I wrote it for this. I think this beat here, Luke probably did
Starting point is 01:57:36 Work It Out or Shake It Up or some shit on it. It sounded like the regular, typical Miami Bay shit. Right. This one sounded like Poison Clan JT. Man, that shit was like ghetto foul. It was like, poong, poong. Like, if you'd have played the instrumental for a nigga, if he could handle it, he could handle it.
Starting point is 01:57:56 But he would not, you can't say no soft shit on that. You can't say no pussy shit on that. Nigga, you got to get in that pussy And get that pussy You can't play with her She gonna talk about you Are we still supposed to shake with your mama again? I'm bad But that's those type of records That would turn a regular club into a strip club
Starting point is 01:58:16 Right And here goes the funny part Who that was the biggest I worked the longest I would shake with your mama again Like I still play that now And We eat That was the biggest. Right. I worked the longest off of Shake With Your Mama, yeah. Like, I still play that now and we eat.
Starting point is 01:58:29 Yeah, that record. Like, is it, is it? If I'm doing a show and it, just picture you getting bored
Starting point is 01:58:33 like that. We gotta play that record here. Picture you getting bored. Yeah, I told him to set it up. Picture you getting bored, brother. You,
Starting point is 01:58:37 you watching this shit, you trying to give it your old college try, but now this nigga boring me and I'm gonna drop that motherfucker. He be like, oh shit.
Starting point is 01:58:44 Shake With Your Mama, yeah. That's one of them songs, man. Yeah. Shake, man, but nah, this nigga boring me. And I'm going to drop that motherfucker. He's like, oh shit! Shake with your mama again, yo. That's one of them songs, man. Yeah. Shake, man. But who that was the biggest. Right. But I worked the... But, but, but.
Starting point is 01:58:53 Who that came and left the next year. You got to think about how the game was. Yeah. They'll have a new nigga next year. Yeah. These records. Who that came and went. And then I stopped doing it in my show
Starting point is 01:59:05 because I was still doing Hope Prada, Shake What Your Mama Gave, Push It, you know, them street songs. Right. Then I wait five, ten years and I drop it again. It's like, oh, shit.
Starting point is 01:59:14 Like, we missed that. But it was so over-saturated or played. It was like, I'm thinking that's, in your mind, you're thinking that's the last song before you leave. And Shake What Your Mama Gave, that's... In your mind, you're thinking that's the last song before you leave.
Starting point is 01:59:25 And Shake What Your Mama Gave Me, that's a Luke sample? No. Me and Devastator. Everybody thought Luke did the hook, but that's Devastator, the dude who made the beat. You don't think that was maybe one of the last real Miami-based records that came out? It feels like... I don't like to take no credit, but I just love to hear people's opinions. It feels like I don't like to take no credit But I just love to hear People's opinions It feels like it
Starting point is 01:59:46 And I like to be And I like to be in the conversation Of good shit I like to be there I think that's one of the last Real Miami-based records That came out Right
Starting point is 01:59:56 That was Kind of authentic Right Like Yeah versus Mind blown Trying to do something Wait
Starting point is 02:00:04 Uncle Al came out With his record after that But Uncle Al as a DJ He's not necessarily I mean he was But you know It's different But I think Uncle Al
Starting point is 02:00:12 Came with Holes in the house Right after There's some holes In this house And then Doodoo Brown Where Doodoo Brown Living at
Starting point is 02:00:18 That's further back Yeah that Baltimore That Frank Skeef He's one of the three Back there No I'm not of line. No, he says it in the record.
Starting point is 02:00:26 Okay, he says it in the record. That's the one you was saying. That's the one I was thinking. Yeah, you thinking of that Frank Skeef now. I love it all. Yeah, that Frank Skeef now. That Baltimore.
Starting point is 02:00:38 That's what you said, Baltimore. Yeah. And then you made me think of Tough Crew. That's where's Tough Crew? Philly. Why did you say that? My part of town. I was going to tell them Philly niggas that.
Starting point is 02:00:48 I was going to talk to my Philly niggas and be like. Talk to them Philly niggas. Oh, y'all niggas. Philly and Wadlow watching. Like, nigga, nigga, Philly nigga. Tough Crew, bitch. Rock on. That's classic.
Starting point is 02:00:58 Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. So damn tough. Rock on. But all those records were out here. That's that Dade County shit, nigga. That's Philly, though. Listen. It felt like it was Dade County, playing. Nigga, I'm feeling it. Listen. It felt like it was Dade County, though.
Starting point is 02:01:07 Thank y'all for letting me say that. Y'all saying Philly bit Dade County. No, no, no. That was their shit. But we loved it here. But it really, it really rocked out here. It blew up here. The skating rinks out here, the decursions.
Starting point is 02:01:16 Y'all mad confusing. Hey, that's like, M.G. Brooks better have my money. Because it's Trump rather than Trump. That shit broke down here. Yeah. In Dade County. You got those guys looting them. They shit broke down here. Yeah. In Dade County. Y'all don't start looting them.
Starting point is 02:01:25 They made those records big. Yeah. Listen, I know the lyrics, man. You play it so I might rap the whole motherfuckers. But listen, I was waiting on my time to talk to Philly. Yo, nigga in Philly. Yo, nigga, y'all don't know nobody. Tough Crew, bitch.
Starting point is 02:01:41 Tough Crew. Tough Crew, legend. Those niggas at the baseball stadium, nigga. That was them too, bitch. Rock on. I niggas at the baseball stadium, nigga, that was tough too, bitch. Rock on. I'm over a little ice dog clocking. And that was straight gangster shit. I can't about it.
Starting point is 02:01:50 Where the fuck are you? Straight gangster shit. I don't know what to do, but I got a shot laying here. We got to play that too. I got a shot laying here. Come on. Fuck it, dude.
Starting point is 02:01:59 Shut up, fuck. Fuck it, dude. Salute, baby. Yo, play sick what your mama gave you. Do it. Do it. Music back real quick. yeah, yeah. Salute, baby. Yo, play, play, check what your mama gave you. Yeah. Yeah. We should back up real quick. Shit.
Starting point is 02:02:08 Come right back. Let's hear this. Man, this new hip hop, listen, I got one more Philly thing. Hold on, hold on, I'm gonna do you a shout out. No, go you, I'm gonna go out there. Now, what's the Philly thing? Nigga, uh, PSK, Schoolie D. Oh, yeah. Original gangster.
Starting point is 02:02:22 Of course, of course. I don't care who say what nigga. PSK, Schoolie D was, what a nigga trying to get, for a sad nigga I'd shoot you dead. For a sad nigga, nigga, nigga. Schoolie D, bitch, that was that. That dang kind of shit.
Starting point is 02:02:35 Philly was on the hardcore shit wave for a lot of people. But that nigga was on, got some booze, some chase, some coke. Tell you now, brother, this ain't no joke. That's a cool, cool thing was out there. That nigga was in the streets. Hey, that nigga was in the streets. And I was a young nigga, I was hearing that shit.
Starting point is 02:02:54 You making the song? Uh-huh. You see, he had to hit this shit. You trying to get it right? Shit, I should have brought it. But that's it for my feeling story. Besides, when I went to Pittsburgh, niggas sounded like they were from London.
Starting point is 02:03:11 There was some kids. Too like, cool. Y'all not too like, cool. Y'all not like this. Tiny. I'm like, what? Nigga, where the fuck we at? We're like Pittsburgh or somewhere. Niggas sounded like they were from London.
Starting point is 02:03:22 And when y'all did Dance All Night, did y'all know you'all had a hit? Well, we thought that was just one of those records. Like, that's going to be our Miami record. Like, we know how to work Miami. We're not thinking about outsider. How far did it go? It went everywhere, right?
Starting point is 02:03:36 It really did. I mean, I'm a kid. I'm in junior high when this thing go. Yeah, it really did. Listen, man, I can remember being in Places Right, and you got a picture of Miami Bay, and it was new. The Miami bass. Yeah, just the sound.
Starting point is 02:03:48 So they looked at, you got a picture of places, Midwest and out north. They don't want to hear, they're not even used to hearing that shit. They want like, like, I was telling them the fights I was fighting. We'll go out there,
Starting point is 02:04:02 and niggas be like, yeah. Like, but they heard Spoil Riot. Like, nigga do Spoil Riot, and they go like, we don't want to hear all that other shit. And then it got to a point where I really started doing the, hey, yo, life's a bitch, so what? And now they're like, oh, shit. Now I got their attention.
Starting point is 02:04:20 Right. Because, right, they want to hear it. I walk out there, they sitting there, and they just doing whatever they're doing around the stage. They show, you know what I'm saying? From Miami, real promo to a real promo and shit. Like, you know what I'm saying? Them niggas could give a fuck if we was there or not.
Starting point is 02:04:37 Like, who y'all niggas is? We got to pull them in. Oh, check. How about that one? That's our job. Right. Because other than that, we're like, yeah, man, what about that one? That's how I jarred. What? Because I didn't know. Like, yeah, man.
Starting point is 02:04:48 What the fuck happened? You know what I'm saying? Nigga think he got fond of him. What the fuck just happened? The nigga tried to steal from me. What the nigga? Touch my pocket, bitch. Hand up out of my pocket.
Starting point is 02:04:59 Something. But yeah, yeah, yeah. But there's a method to the madness, man. It always happens. It's just like, yeah, yeah. But it's a method to the madness, man. It always happens. It's just like, nigga. Yeah. And there's another question I always wanted to ask, especially the granddaddy you just passed away.
Starting point is 02:05:13 Damn. Rest in peace. Rest in peace to granddad. Yeah, yeah. So you got a joint that you sampled the same exact beat. The bitch that I hate. The bitch that I hate. The girl that I hate.
Starting point is 02:05:23 Yeah. Who sampled that first? Mr. Mick. Well, Mr. Mick bitch that I hate. The girl that I hate. Yes. Who sampled that first? Mr. Mix. Well, Mr. Mix did that whole first album. It was his idea. Shout out Mr. Mix. He's a legend.
Starting point is 02:05:31 David Hall, Mr. Mix, the producer of everything on Luke Records at that time. Wow. 2 Live, Lujan, he did all that shit then. And you realized
Starting point is 02:05:40 y'all had the same beat? Something new? Yeah, theirs came out before ours too. Theirs came out? Yeah, we had ours made, but we've been sitting, you know. But still, who's to say how long they had theirs?
Starting point is 02:05:51 It's one of them arguments you can't, you know. But, yeah, he was talking. Okay, boom. His was he was talking about himself, right? Ours was a relationship. You out there fucking in your hole? new. Ours was a relationship. You a fuck out nigga, you out there fucking in your hole, it was a man and a woman. See, I think that Miami shit was always
Starting point is 02:06:10 man and woman call and respond, say, shut it, shut it. Or... I'm out of the boat. You're getting all over that shit. I'm out of the house. Nothing's playing, I'm quit. Nigga be loving that wild shit.
Starting point is 02:06:23 Yeah! Hey, listen, I got one for that. I was like, picture everything before that that y'all thought was Miami Basin or felt like close to him. And then picture that nigga right there, right? That nigga, that's not me. That nigga there, whoever that guy is doing that record.
Starting point is 02:06:39 Who was that guy? Listen. It instruct the pussy. We're not asking, we're not that nigga. His first line is hoping over and spread the butt cheese. Let nigga see them guts free. Touch the ground. Slap that. You're giving instructions to the pussy. See, the pussy needs
Starting point is 02:06:56 that. The pussy don't want to be wasted. The pussy don't want to be out here by itself doing anything. The pussy needs instructions and guidance. Nobody had me, niggas. Listen, listen. Get that nigga out. He's an instructional manual.
Starting point is 02:07:09 All right, second verse. Fuck it. Work for this money, honey, stop faking. I want to see some real stuff to grasp. Instructions. We ain't begging no more.
Starting point is 02:07:20 I don't know why I'm taking more shots. I'm out. We getting this good shit, man. We getting this good shit, bitch. We getting this good shit, bitch. Definitely some Miami shit. Yeah. What the fuck is they talking about?
Starting point is 02:07:31 But I was just talking about that guy, that guy. I remember. Because when I heard it, I was like. When I heard that nigga talking that shit. Back then in 192, I was like. You talking about yourself? Okay, well, fuck it. that shit. Back then in 1992, I was like, Oh! You're doing it yourself. Oh, yeah, okay. Well, fuck it. I fuck it.
Starting point is 02:07:49 He was appalled. Holy shit. Damn, I got another shot right here. You a wild boy. Yeah, boy. It ain't gonna be the first episode y'all gonna see all of us like this, man. I'm trying to go to dinner at some point.
Starting point is 02:08:04 I know better than that. Oh, you fin Oh, no. No, we're trying to go to dinner at some point. I know better than that. But, uh. Oh, you're trying to power up. No, no, no, no, no, no. No, that's good. We good. You got to give him another shot. Listen, man, whenever brother I go, I'm going with brother.
Starting point is 02:08:15 We not going to do nothing apart. I just want to give you a flower. I see my nigga rationing. Yep. But I got you. No, no, no. You ever had that? You know what that is?
Starting point is 02:08:24 No, but I'm willing to take one with my guy. They make that in a tub in Kendall. Buck! I just spoke to him and he's like, I said, man,
Starting point is 02:08:32 just run with it. Is that Buck? Call it, call it. I told him, make a commercial. Tub, Kendall, Marijuana. Your people made that.
Starting point is 02:08:40 Like Buck, like they make chain games. They make duck crackers in New York. Homemade, homemade. All right. You got this shot? That's dope to me. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:08:49 Listen, so, damn. A la chica. I'm going to say, some other people ain't got nothing to do with us. We drink that because we like that. Because we trust us. We drink, you understand what I'm saying? I don't want to say their names and get up, but so they ain't got nothing to do with our thing.
Starting point is 02:09:08 I like it. We smoke dirty. You know how you smoke dirty? You know Garcia? Super clean. Or super clean. Just say super clean. Just say non-processed.
Starting point is 02:09:22 Super clean, non-processed. I know people like that, right? Yeah, they like, you love dirty girl lovers? I hung like that for two days. Two days you liked the dirty girl lovers? I probably was one. I probably was a dirty girl lover at two days. Well, you smoking the dirties with the dirty girl?
Starting point is 02:09:42 Oh, no, no, no, no. No, I was feeding. Okay, feeding. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was feeding. Okay, how does this. Okay, feeding. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was feeding. Okay. How does it work? Oh, thank God. Yeah, yeah, I wasn't that. Thank you. How does this work? You say, here go the y'all.
Starting point is 02:09:51 Nah, you say what you need. Anything in there, y'all get right. Uh-huh. And I'm gonna get right. They know how to roll up they self? Yeah, of course. They better. If you can't... Nah, if they smoke with that shit, they know. If you can't roll it, then you ain't got no business.
Starting point is 02:10:02 Yeah. Ooh. That's what I used to tell the young niggas. When everybody was first smoking, I said, niggas, you can't roll your own joint, you ain't got no business. That's what I used to tell the young men. When everybody was first smoking, I said, if you can't roll your own joint, you ain't got no business smoking. What the fuck are we talking about? And his was crazy. Oh, gee, roll this for me. I'm like, business mind.
Starting point is 02:10:13 Then roll your own. Because if you can't, you know, whatever. Because his was crazy. Now people are rolling, like, the good weed. Whatever. The good cocaine. It's like, what is that called? Death?
Starting point is 02:10:25 No. It's just, you is that called? Death? No. It's just, you know. Let's call it waste of money. Good on good. Ten on ten. Bad weed with the good cocaine or the bad weed with the regular cocaine. The reason they put cocaine was because it was bad weed already. Oh, really? Yeah. We can think and
Starting point is 02:10:40 feel how we want to feel, but they feel how they feel. Right. Like, they like, boy, y'all just don't know, nigga. Y'all ain't got a clue. Like, we sitting up here saying, yeah, nigga, but that's it. They like, shit, that's what you think, bitch. You know what I'm saying?
Starting point is 02:10:57 No, real talk. So I'm just like, man, to Asia's own whatever, motherfucker, but, you know, all right, boom. Now I got to bring it into my Let's bring it into the Like, in my family In my business and things like that I be like Yeah, nigga, you know I love you
Starting point is 02:11:12 But you can't come with me today You know I love you, though But you can't ride today But we'll be back You know, because I'm going to come back And fuck with you But But why they can't ride today
Starting point is 02:11:26 Cause that Cause they ride I ain't talking about My business That don't play in this Like it might play All out here You don't want to end up
Starting point is 02:11:34 Like Eddie It might play all out here When the police pull you over And you get framed That's it Yeah it play all out here But when I'm right here Cause you know
Starting point is 02:11:43 I'm really responsible For everything right here, because I'm really responsible for everything right here. I still love you. It's real. But if you on the yalla, you can't be around the yalla on the yalla, I understand. Yeah, and that's just that. I understand.
Starting point is 02:11:58 You can't ride with me today. You know what I'm saying? But no, I always ride, but I don't always be here. I don't always be right here. That's right. Yeah, just some shit like that, you know? Fair and honest is good, man. You know what I'm saying? Again.
Starting point is 02:12:12 That's right. Let's make some noise for being honest. Yeah. That's so... It's fair, though. Truth is forever, lies before a moment. I'm telling you. Listen, man. Let me ask you. Let me...
Starting point is 02:12:21 We learned this shit as kids. Okay. Go ahead. No, I'm sorry. Is there anything you regret that you didn't do in this game? I want to regret some shit, but me understanding whatever I understand for this life and decisions and God and karma and me understanding what I believe, it's like it is what it is.
Starting point is 02:12:43 There were certain situations when I had one of the hottest records in the country and people was asking me to do certain things and I'm like, well,
Starting point is 02:12:51 I'm going to stay paying and shit, they ain't paying. But they trying to build something and I wouldn't do that. So you say you regret that? I want to regret it. Okay.
Starting point is 02:12:59 I don't regret shit because I'm here today and I'm still writing this stuff. I'm going to be honest, just to reiterate what you were saying. still writing the story. I'm going to be honest, just to reiterate what you were saying. One of the things that I didn't know was not that I regret it, but
Starting point is 02:13:11 was I was doing features like and I never knew you were supposed to get paid for features. It was pun. You were just doing it? I was just doing it. Like whoever... Fucking with who you fucked with. Whoever fucked with me and they wanted to do a record with me, I just did it. But ain't nothing wrong with that And pun
Starting point is 02:13:25 That's an exchange sometimes That's what it is I mean that's why I feel like That's what it is Somebody else Gonna use that Against you Like oh boy
Starting point is 02:13:33 Boy you crazy Boy you should've But they don't even know How far you not taking That little bit How far that took you In that area It worked out for me
Starting point is 02:13:42 Right But everyone else It won't work out for me Your walk ain't dead. And if they want to be judgmental, let them fool themselves. Right. Yeah, whatever. Just don't be disrespectful.
Starting point is 02:13:54 But you can be stupid over there. Check, though, because it worked for me. I did that. I didn't. Oh, man, I got... I think, all right, even that play a part into the so-called legacy or legend of JT. Oh, that nigga JT was a real nigga JT. I mean, all right, boom, here's a better one.
Starting point is 02:14:16 I go see people. I go places, and I'm always somewhere. Then I see motherfuckers who in position. I don't know them. They come to me like, boy, you don't remember me? Boy, you was, and I was a little nigga
Starting point is 02:14:28 and you chatted to me and you did, and I be like, well, thank God I was a real nigga because if I was a fuck nigga, you could have gotten it. You in position, but I don't know you, but you love me
Starting point is 02:14:40 because whatever I said to you or whatever I did for your mama and them back, just shit like that. Thank God I was a real nigga. Right. It all comes around. Because I'm still out here, but if I did some fuck shit,
Starting point is 02:14:54 that was your chance to... Right. So whatever, nigga, I don't know what we were talking about. I don't know how we got there, but it led me up. Hey, it led me right there But it's happened that way
Starting point is 02:15:07 Who your favorite West Coast artist is? Favorite West Coast? West Coast, yeah It gotta be It gotta be some short It gotta be Q It gotta be Snoop It gotta be
Starting point is 02:15:19 It gotta be all the niggas that we know Okay Alright, now picture an underground Okay, boom. Now you're going to say an underground gang. I like, I always like Sugar Free. When you talk about that, Pimp, because that nigga there was cold.
Starting point is 02:15:33 You know. Single Sugar Free? Pimp. Yeah, look. Like, I don't see. Look, we both do the same shit. Yeah, I ain't seeing. Perm.
Starting point is 02:15:44 That guy's perm. That guy's perm. But then I've met other dudes, you know, and I think they good, but when you want to say the favorite, they good for what's going on now. I see them now fighting the fight in this era because right now ain't nobody big until they say they big.
Starting point is 02:16:04 Like, it's our boy. He the man over here. Like, for them streets, it's other niggas who still maintain. Like, I think they be fighting the fight I fight. Like, for some strange reason, I'm telling you, the reason I still get booked is certain things, those particular songs and that. Like, if I make a new one, good for me. If I don I make a new one, good for me. If I don't make a new one, I don't know, bad for me. But those songs is, I don't know if it's a feeling or a rite of passage or, like, before you get to this stage, you got to feel like this. Then you get over here, you feel like, I don't understand it.
Starting point is 02:16:40 I'm just thankful and blessed for it. How we got on that subject, I don't know, but I said I was going to come talk to my brothers. There you go. And you said you're working on a Poison Clan album, a new one? Definitely that. Tell us more about that album. Uh-huh. Independent, obviously.
Starting point is 02:16:58 Yeah, well, so far, like, if anybody feel free, they want to, uh, do business with the Poison Clan, then I'll have it. There you go. Put it out there. Put it out there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because I'm talking about the original cast, you know, JT Money, Devin Neal, Drugs, Madball, Uzi, you know. The only difference is we got a new young production team.
Starting point is 02:17:16 Right, right. And these are guys who did their homework and was friends of it. And they're like, yeah, but y'all should come like this now. Like, just see if everything we wanted to do still sounded like 1990. And they're like, nah, nigga, put that conversation over this 2024 beat.
Starting point is 02:17:36 I respect that. Some shit like that. Right, and we gotta respect that too, and then we gotta respect that. Alright, I run into old niggas who think they know everything. I know niggas raw with production, right? And he been doing shit about 28, 30 years. And it get to a point, I'm so cool and hung,
Starting point is 02:17:56 I had to get to a nigga like, well, goddamn, bitch, my 32 years don't mean nothing to you? And I got more accolades than you. You just good at what you do. You think you know everything. I'm trying nothing to you. Like, and I got more accolades than you. You just good at what you do. You think you know everything. I'm trying to tell you. I don't know. Receive. I'm going to tell you something
Starting point is 02:18:12 that I think that Miami people don't actually take. Yeah, this is my last shot. You got another one? This is my last one. I'm with you, man. I got shit to do. I'm going to tell you something
Starting point is 02:18:20 that Miami actually doesn't understand. Miami could actually be, like, Houston, like as far as that, because like I in New York. We have boroughs. We don't have cities like Opelika's damn near its own city, correct? Yeah, Hialeah is its own city. Hialeah is its own city. Homestead is its own city. Like, y'all are, and I'm saying this as an honorary member now, like, y'all can sell shit without leaving your actual state. Right. To your own people.
Starting point is 02:18:57 It's different here than, like, Texas. But New York been doing that. Nigga go platinum in New York without going to New York. And the thing is, we were doing that in the flea markets. It was happening out here. But the difference,
Starting point is 02:19:09 I think, with Miami and some of those places, Miami's constantly changing. People coming from all over the place is always changing the demographic. Yeah, but one thing
Starting point is 02:19:16 that's never changed is across the bridge. Right. It's over the bridge that changes. No, I'm talking about living here, too. I got to disagree with you.
Starting point is 02:19:23 Nah, man, you'll have an influx of this group that comes in. Venezuelans or these people. Okay, okay. Haitians will come in. This group. And I feel like it changes a little bit. Like, Miami people, they never want to feel.
Starting point is 02:19:35 They don't want to act like fans. I don't know if you've ever felt this way. Oh, yeah. Miami, we never feel like fans. We feel like we it. Oh, time out. When I used to go to the Miami Heat games when I first came here, when LeBron came here, oh, let's just be clear,
Starting point is 02:19:50 you're the most spoilerless fans in the world. Thanks, bro. As soon as LeBron wins by four points, niggas is leaving. Niggas is like, oh, we already won the game. Like, I've never seen this. Do you know I'm a Knicks fan? Do you know how brutal it is being a Knicks fan? We will lose by 45 if Spike Lee will still stand right there.
Starting point is 02:20:08 Right. Right. Spike ain't leaving. We're not leaving. Right. Miami fans didn't club live. They fickle. They in the Grey Goose Lounge like this, taking shots with Timberland.
Starting point is 02:20:17 I don't have to go to the concert. I'll go to the VIP and be VIP. By the way, I've learned that from Miami people. They going all the way down I got I got court side tickets And I stayed at the Grey Goose Lounge
Starting point is 02:20:28 In the back Cause it was like Club Lib I was like bug it Well I go out there Like yeah yeah yeah And the game is still on And shit And that unfortunately
Starting point is 02:20:36 Is a part of the Miami mentality That's very true But then how about In the 90s Where It was different You were book shows For us
Starting point is 02:20:44 And We would come out here and the Miami crowd would be there, but the New York crowd would be there too. What happened to that? What did it change? New York always was there. You're saying it's not there no more? No, no, no. I'm saying like what changed for- When we all partied together and all that shit though?
Starting point is 02:21:00 Yeah, that was a beautiful time. I loved it. I don't know. I think pop culture did that. Whoever put the divide on the east and west, did the south and the north. Wow. Somebody did it.
Starting point is 02:21:10 Wow. Somebody sectioned it off so they could charge differently. Wow. $10 for this section, $20 for that section, $40 for that one, $1,500. Are you saying the boiler section? I don't know. I'm just dividing conga.
Starting point is 02:21:23 That's all I'm talking about. Divided and conquered. They just like, no, you niggas can't be friends, nigga. That nigga from over there. Like, bitch, we're back. I'm going to tell you. And this is, it was at one point I used to come to Miami. And I used to be like, yo, it's Brooklyn in the house. And people would lose their fucking money.
Starting point is 02:21:40 See, I couldn't stand that back then. You cannot say that right now. I couldn't stand it. You cannot go anywhere in Miami and say, it's Brooklyn in the house. It'll be a Miami Jamaican that's from Brooklyn and say, boy, that's what my boy. Now they're proud again.
Starting point is 02:21:56 That was from Fifth Street, Luke's, on over. Like, if you was here, unless you went down south somewhere, closer to the Grove, when you was in, unless you went down south somewhere, closer to the grove, when you was in Liberty City, Cassidy, Opelika, Little Haiti, that wouldn't have went down. The city was still divided
Starting point is 02:22:15 still, because... It was definitely South Beach, let's be clear. Yeah, right, but I'm saying, that's what that was, so they would be there. Like, that's where me and my New York niggas would go. You know? But me and my overlocked, carried city niggas, we over here. And the bottom, the out the house.
Starting point is 02:22:33 Right, right. You know? I would take my other niggas there once in a while when I felt like, nigga, don't worry about it. You and me, bitch. None of this shit matters to you. You and me. That's all that matters.
Starting point is 02:22:45 So we move like that. Yeah, but that's how I'm at it. And there was no disrespect to New York. It's just you and your own city. You don't want to hear it. Like, look, we said we both went to the Biggie show, his first show. We all went because we was hip-hop heads.
Starting point is 02:22:57 By the way, EFN, let me just not single out Miami. I went to Atlanta on that same tour. I went to Atlanta the next time. And they had the same problem. And I was like, yo, is Brooklyn in the house? By the way, I'm not from Brooklyn. I'm from Queens. It was just something to say at the time. It was a thing to say at the time. I would go to
Starting point is 02:23:11 Atlanta. I'd be like, is Brooklyn in the house? The place would go crazy. I'd be like, I know these motherfuckers are not from Brooklyn. Right, but that was the thing to do. That was what we used to say at the time. Me and my crew, we did a song called Fake Outta Towners. It was addressing that. It was people that either they were from New York or they weren't, but they felt that that was their identity here.
Starting point is 02:23:30 And we're like, yo, if you pay your bills here, you're from here. And in all due respect, in all due respect, at that time, New York did seem like it ran the world at that time. It did. In the industry, it did. That's what we talk about. That's the whole New York state of mind. That's what we're talking about. Listen, it was that.
Starting point is 02:23:44 Right. Listen, man. New York state of mind. That's what I'm talking about. Listen, it was that. Right. Listen, man, New York ran radio. I think Calum ran movies and TV some kind of way. And then when the majors got involved, you niggas had to figure out a way to work together, but it was still us still fighting, trying to, what up, bitch, we want to get in the game, too. I mean, that's kind of my question.
Starting point is 02:24:03 We want to get in, too. Like you said, I love what you just said You just said that Cali ran like the movies Until Gangsta Rap came right And then they ran Gangsta Rap But then New York ran pretty much the industry What is the state of Miami I'm guessing I'm going to stage you and then you can pass it to EFN
Starting point is 02:24:20 What was the state of Miami at that time Especially I remember me knowing that Miami is the Merck capital at this time. But y'all got Shake With Your Mama, you got Luke, and you got all this
Starting point is 02:24:35 beautiful music. But you're going to get killed crossing that bridge. Crossing that bridge, you're going to get killed. You was blessed to know that much. Those with eyes that couldn't see, they was getting caught up in it. Like, the mentality at that time, we still fans of. It's just some of us who know what's really going on, and some of us, you know, blind leading the blind.
Starting point is 02:24:59 Sheep. Some of us was sheep. But, like, at the time, we were still trying to create our identity. Or, you know, Democrat, Republican, Independent. That's us now. You know what I'm saying? East, West, South. You know, we were trying to create that. Yeah, that's what we were trying to do then.
Starting point is 02:25:22 Yeah, but, you know, when the reality of it was, it was still the culture, but they hadn't already put those markers in place, the dividers. Because you got to think, like I said, I went to school with a lot of New York niggas. These niggas, we've been up and down. Do you understand what I'm saying? And that's it. That's it right there. They've been here.
Starting point is 02:25:48 As far as I know, I always ran into a New York nigga, Jamaican nigga, Haitian nigga, Cuban nigga. I've known these niggas all my life. Right, right. That's Miami. Right, nah, real talk. That's Miami in a nutshell. I've known these niggas all my life. Look, and being young, I didn't even know who was who until we got older.
Starting point is 02:26:02 Then I started looking at that nigga like, yeah, like, I always knew that nigga mama spoke Creole. I knew that nigga mama spoke Spanish. I knew that nigga mama spoke Patois. But, we was all the things I got. Until we get older, I see other family members. You start seeing
Starting point is 02:26:19 that nigga, he start seeing these cheekbones. You don't know that that best shit until you get old. The SSP.com. Until you get old. Right. It's like, damn, man. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:26:33 Yeah, man. So let me ask you. You, me, you know, going through this interview and you saying how West Coast was influential on you. Was it Luke who came to you and said, we got to go at these West Coast guys? Or was it something you guys already did and Luke co-signed?
Starting point is 02:26:52 You talking about a particular song? Faking Like Gangsters, Cowards and Continent. Which one? That little era. Because see, right? But Dre Day came out first, right?
Starting point is 02:27:01 No? Faking Like Gangsters, we did on Luke Album. But we was talking about niggas in the industry, period. You know, niggas faking like gangsters. Even my lyrics was pretty vague.
Starting point is 02:27:15 They were hard as fuck, though, in case y'all ain't hear them. Go look it up. But it was pretty open, like, picture a nigga that's, you know. So then, before the record is done, because it's a record, these niggas I know, they did a skit. These niggas I know.
Starting point is 02:27:39 And they calling niggas out. And I'm like. The West Coast guys. Yeah, like, but me, I'm like, when we start doing that, what part... Like, as far as I know, Luka, them niggas was cool. Right. When Portland Clan got on, we was cool with them niggas. They was...
Starting point is 02:27:56 It was them doing the shows against the world. Okay. So, I don't say nothing. They like, oh, man, fuck this shit. This shit funny, man. Then Luke came and stood there that night. He heard it, and he laughing. And I'm sitting there like.
Starting point is 02:28:12 But they had not made a diss towards Luke at this time? Not yet. It was a skit you're saying. And remember, the record we did was vague. It wasn't calling nobody out. Right. You know, might have been a lie somewhere, but it was so vague. You know, you're looking for it or you ain't.
Starting point is 02:28:31 You know what I'm saying? Whatever. All right. When the record came out, it was like, yeah. Anyway, Luke allowed it because ain't nobody got to say so, but Luther Campbell, he allowed it to go. So when that record came out before that and that they know the next year then they did dray day because they like like oh you know and
Starting point is 02:28:59 that would have never happened if he would have said, no, we're not doing that. But I also heard him and them and them talking, and they were talking about, yeah, man. Doing a concert afterwards. Yeah, a concert, like pay-per-view. In my mind, I'm not thinking that. See, I'm still young, and I'm with the bullshit. I'm not thinking business and me and Doc. I'm like, nigga, how you going? And then, like, y'all played too much.
Starting point is 02:29:24 With N.W.A. Yeah, y'all niggas played too much. No, it was after N.W.A. Because I'm serious. I'm like, nigga, how you going? And then, like, y'all played too much. With N.W.A. Yeah, y'all niggas played too much. That was after N.W.A. Because I'm serious. You know N.W.A.'s first interview, they had AKs on there. Like, it was like not the people to play with. And it was all that, but then them niggas was cool, man. Them niggas was cool.
Starting point is 02:29:39 Right. Respecting each other's ass, because I don't care how many hoes and booty-shaped records you put in front of Luke and them together-style DJs, that the kind of shit was dead around. I witnessed that on the Too Low Like Mothers tour. I'm like, there. I was there. I was off the porch.
Starting point is 02:29:57 I was there, 89. Anyway, the way that started, I think it shouldn't have never started. It did, it did. But I was with my guy. You know what I'm saying? Roll with Luke. Yeah, I was rolling with him.
Starting point is 02:30:13 But he got a funny part of that. Because being that I knew how it started. You knew that there kind of was a little bit of a... I wasn't with it at first. I was like, nah, he tried three or four things. I just gave him a number, but he paid that number. Wait, what? Period.
Starting point is 02:30:30 Yeah, I said it. I don't, I don't. Say it again. Say it again. At first, I wasn't with it. Okay. Then I gave him a number, and he's like, fuck it, I'm giving that number. Then I did my verse.
Starting point is 02:30:40 Oh. He done tried three or four niggas, but they couldn't bring it home. Back then, like, they were going to bring it home and make it respectable and the... All right. All right, all right, all right. That's it. So you was a hired gun.
Starting point is 02:30:52 I'm a liar. Right. Check. We know. You understand what I'm saying? Because I wasn't going to do it, because I knew it was really some fuck shit. And it was like, damn, but I like them niggas' music. But if they against you,
Starting point is 02:31:05 boy, you got to roll with the grain. Like, you sure you, we got to fuck them up? Let's just cut off their lights for a week. Right.
Starting point is 02:31:13 You know what I'm saying? Let's not kill them. Something like that. I'm just, you got to be with me, man. Check. Yeah,
Starting point is 02:31:20 but that's all though. So, you know, I did it, you know, and then, and that was that. What were we talking about? How Cowboys and Counts started? Yeah, yeah, yeah's all, though. So, you know, I did it, you know, and then I was that. What were we talking about?
Starting point is 02:31:26 How Cowboys and Contins started? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. But, you know, because them niggas was cool. So then after the record comes out, how did y'all become amicably with them? Like, how did y'all squad? Thank God everybody was still players. And then when Easy and Duff Rose was beefing, I actually recalled Luke on the phone with Easy
Starting point is 02:31:50 talking to my injury. And I'm like, yeah. And that's the first time I heard that pay-per-view show game. Because I'm like, none. All right, boom. Here go a gangster one that nobody know. Ball, where you at? The video to
Starting point is 02:32:06 Don't Sleep on the Hill Zone, Push It Back, that's in California. Oh, shit. That's 93. That's at the same set where Eazy did the disc record with Drayton
Starting point is 02:32:17 and the same record where Drayton did where they had the sound with Eazy. We in the same studio. It cost me an extra $10,000 to fly to L.A. to do it. Because we in the height of the beef. This is how crazy we was as young niggas, right?
Starting point is 02:32:36 Yeah, well, you could save $10,000 and he'll do it here and we'll just create a city. But if you fly out to Cali in the height of this beef, you save $10,000. I'm like, well save $10,000. I'm like, well, fuck it, nigga. Let's go save the money. Not knowing. Bitch, I wasn't getting none of that money anyway. Bitch, you got to pay for it. And you could have got killed.
Starting point is 02:32:51 Yeah, I could have got killed. This is rap murder capital of the world. We had a Mac-12 and a 9 and something else under the plane. Come on, come on. You could fly back then with it. Yeah, well, you got to report it. You got to let them know what you got. Yeah, you could show them the ticket counter. Yeah, we, you got to report it. You got to let them know what you got. Yeah, you could show them the ticket counter.
