This year, a lot of the biggest names in music and sports. This kind of starts that a little bit, man. We met them at their homes. We met them at the recording studios. Stories matter and it brings a face to it.

Starting point is 00:01:20 We dive into the competitive world of streaming. What others dismiss as niche, we embrace as core. There are so many stories out there. And if you can find a way to curate and help the right person discover the right content, the term that we always hear from our audience is that they feel seen. Starting point is 00:02:07 pioneer one of his dj efn together they drink it up with some
Starting point is 00:02:11 of the biggest players in the most professional unprofessional podcast
Starting point is 00:02:16 and your number one source for drunk fat it's time for drink champs
Starting point is 00:02:24 drink up motherfucker Where every day is New Year's Eve It's time for Drink Champs Drink up, motherfucker What it good be? Hopefully this is what it should be This is your boy N.O.R.E. What up, it's DJ EFN And this is Militain Be Crazy We're all Drink Champs Happy Hour
Starting point is 00:02:37 Make some noise! And when I tell you When me and EFN started this show, we wanted to interview our peers. We wanted to interview fellow legends, fellow icons. When I tell you I seen this man come up in the game, you know, from the beginning to where he's at now. His team has been tight like virgin pussy. Nothing can break them. Nothing can break them. His team has been tight like virgin pussy. What an analogy. Nothing can break them.
Starting point is 00:03:07 I swear to God, from the very day ones that I've seen him come in the game, he's with the same exact people. When you speak about loyalty, the picture comes up. When you speak about this guy as a character, this guy as an emcee, this guy as an actor, this guy as a producer, this guy as everything, he's a renaissance man. He's a fellow Virgo. I believe he's married too, like me.
Starting point is 00:03:30 And we love hard, and we go on the Maldives. People was like, y'all got the best vacation pictures ever. But this guy is an icon. He's a legend. He's a lyrical. He can go lyrically. We went through his discography, and we realized that he can go lyrically with anybody. Anybody, toe-to-toe.
Starting point is 00:03:50 And he might put on the big Air Force One. When he go toe-to-toe. He is the man. He is my friend. He is a legend, an icon, a motherfucking tycoon. In case you don't know what we're talking about, we're talking about the one and only, impeccable, Chris Lover Lover, Lou DeCrispito! a motherfucking tycoon. In case you don't know what we're talking about, we're talking about the one and only, impeccable,
Starting point is 00:04:05 Chris Lover Lover, Luda Chris Victor! And I have you know, Luda, I just want you to know I haven't drank in 20 days. I've been in the gym every day trying to get my shit on, but when we locked you in, I said,
Starting point is 00:04:20 I am breaking my fast for my motherfucking Luda! Yo, Luda, I'm going to be honest with you, man. I am really, really, really proud of you. Because in certain ways, I kind of feel like we traded careers. Kind of like you started out with media, even though you had music way before that. Right? And then you transitioned as opposed to be where it's kind of like an artist.
Starting point is 00:04:43 And now I'm having fun doing media. But a lot lot of people that's where they start your career right they start um at the radio station but a lot of people don't know you have records and you had things way before that is that okay put it on I started rapping when I was nine years old yeah 100 my first record was called well not record my first song was called I'm Cool, I'm Bad, I Might Be 10. Wow. But I Can't Survive Without My Girlfriend. Wow. And you was nine.
Starting point is 00:05:09 And I was nine. So, you know, I had to put the extra thoughts on it. Let's make some noise for your exaggeration. At nine years old, he was already, Jamie, I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. I'm ready to go. Lemons, lemons, lemons. So I had to, oh, you're going to get fucked up by the way.
Starting point is 00:05:19 Yes, yes, yes. You ain't drinking 20 days. Yes, yes, yes. 20 days. You're about to get fucked up. And that just came from the Maldives. I'm sorry. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:05:23 But no, like I said, I started rapping when I was nine. So yeah, I went through a good 10, 12 years of doing so many different crazy contracts and being in groups and going in and out and just developing my style. And so when I got to the radio station, like you say, this was when I was 18 years old. And so this is right when rap radio stations were kind of starting, where 24 hours you playing nothing but rap music. This was commercial radio or college radio? Commercial radio.
Starting point is 00:05:53 So it's now 107.9 in Atlanta. At the time, it was called Hot 97.5. And so at this time, I literally got a job up there as an intern. And so I was just trying to get put on. So it was strategic because I was like, you got all these producers. You got all these artists coming through to a radio station each and every fucking day. So I'm going to go up here and make these people think that I want a job at this radio station. But the real hustle is that whoever come up here, I'm about to give them my music.
Starting point is 00:06:20 I'm about to rap for them, and it's going to work. Now, keep in mind, it took, I'd say about a good three or four years before it actually, you know, the plan worked. You're meaning you at the radio station
Starting point is 00:06:30 three or four years being there before the whole Ludacris came into play because I was there as an air personality. I was hosting the clubs. I was a local celebrity
Starting point is 00:06:38 way before commercially successful as Ludacris. But yeah, that's how it all started, man. Right. At that radio station, Atlanta, Georgia. I'm going to be honest,
Starting point is 00:06:46 man. I don't think I've ever said this. And you're going to be happy. We're about to get some shit that Nori ain't never said after eight years of fucking drink champs right now. I'm going to be honest, bro. It was at one point where if you had a number one record in
Starting point is 00:07:01 New York, you had a number one record around the world. Right. And I'm proud to kind of say, not kind of, I'm proud to say that right now, if you have a number one record in Atlanta, fuck y'all, man. But it's true, though. It has been like that for a while. By the way, my New York is recognizing it right now. I'm just being honest.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Because we didn't want to let it go. But I see it now. Like, if you, it brings me to two chains right because i remember i remember two chains being down with you guys absolutely his name wasn't two chains tit uh it was tit titty block it's my first drink in 20 days god damn let's go but um but i remember i remember it it it him being known in like just that section like and it's just like i remember i remember i'm sorry i'm all over the place but i remember I remember him being known in just that section. And it's just like, I remember, I'm sorry I'm all over the place, but I remember me speaking with Bum B and me almost saying to them,
Starting point is 00:07:55 like, damn, y'all could actually go gold in just Texas. Like, just Texas. And I remember saying that about Atlanta because y'all had local heroes. I'm sorry I'm all over the place, but I remember Pastor Troy. You're about to have your first drink. I remember Pastor Troy. And I remember how huge Pastor Troy was, right? You was hyped off Pastor Troy. I remember you came to Miami after meeting him, and you was hyped.
Starting point is 00:08:14 And I was going to New York, and I would be like, we ready. People were looking at me like, what the fuck is he talking about, man? And I would go just to New Orleans. And I'd be like, we ready? And people didn't know so that's when I knew Atlanta had the chance to kind of like dominate the whole business because y'all had stars that was just in Atlanta yep and so how how how was that seeing that because it was almost like I want to say the back of the bus like it was like kind of like y'all went from
Starting point is 00:08:41 there to and I felt like I'm sorry I like it was Andre 3000 that jinxed the world. Oh, don't say that. Jinxed the world? I mean, he told us, I've got something to say. Oh, got you. You're talking about New York. I mean, he was fishing for the whole time.
Starting point is 00:08:56 Yeah, yeah, yeah. But because, again, I'm sorry I'm so over the place, but I remember coming to Atlanta. Hey, man, stop apologizing. This is your shit. No, no, no, I remember going to Atlanta. This is sober stop apologizing. This is your shit. I remember going to Atlanta. This is sober fasting glory. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:09:06 yeah, yeah. I was fucking up. He has that drink and be like, I don't give a fuck. But I remember going to Atlanta as a New York artist
Starting point is 00:09:13 and New York was running and I remember saying, yo, is Atlanta in the house? And they not saying nothing and me saying, yo, is Brooklyn in the house?
Starting point is 00:09:19 And it would just, it would erupt and I knew these people wasn't from Brooklyn, but they didn't have no identity back then But like That's my story
Starting point is 00:09:28 But how does it feel From seeing like Your city go from To where it's at now Absolutely fucking amazing Right I feel like we've had The game in a chokehold
Starting point is 00:09:38 For quite some time Like you say I mean you know We can We can debate about How long it's been But just It amazes me Since I started Because I come from the, like you said, the Goody Mobs and the Outkast.
Starting point is 00:09:50 They paved the way for me. So after all this time, in retrospect, you know, seeing what has happened over all that time and just Atlanta artists working together and it's just the camaraderie. Right. And everybody's just becoming a powerhouse when you do these records together and you see that they continue to climb these charts all this time later, man. It feels fucking amazing. Yeah. Amazing. And it's like, I don't feel like it's going anywhere.
Starting point is 00:10:12 I don't feel like it's going anywhere. That's what it always seemed like. And it might be different being from the city. But from the outside looking in, it looked like Atlanta always had it together. Like, the artists always worked together. It didn't matter if they didn't sound the same, different kind of genres within the genre. They all it together. The artists always worked together. It didn't matter if they didn't sound the same, different kind of genres within the genre. They all worked together.
Starting point is 00:10:29 They all were repping for the city. That's Southern hospitality, as we say. And that's why I had a hater moment at one point. I was kind of glad when you and T.I. was beefing for like two weeks. Two weeks. I was like, fuck, at least they're human. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:10:44 The South didn't seem human At one point It seemed like All of y'all beasts If y'all had stripes or whatever Y'all kept it in between each other And New York We couldn't do that
Starting point is 00:10:54 No I mean It was It was outer end You know what I'm saying But we didn't see it though Like Y'all didn't see it Y'all saw it
Starting point is 00:11:01 It was a lot of beasts I say with Pimp Pimp C I didn't see Like the The Atlanta on Atlanta That's a good thing then Fuck it It was a lot of beef. I say with Pimp, Pimp C. I didn't see the Atlanta on Atlanta. That's a good thing then. Fuck it. If you're saying from your perspective you didn't see it like that, then that's good.
Starting point is 00:11:13 So let's make some noise for Atlanta, minor they big. We like to keep the reputation of keeping it together. The togetherness and that southern hospitality for sure. So what actually happened with UNTI at that time? It was, from my perspective, it was always a little subliminals. And I just heard subliminals. And I'm extremely competitive, so I'm always with the subliminals. So when he would jab, I would just jab right back in records.
Starting point is 00:11:38 Did this happen to the light-skinned karate class? Absolutely not. No light-skinned class But nah Just competition man And you know It's crazy because Again in retrospect We were actually On a flight together
Starting point is 00:11:50 On a plane We went to George Floyd's Funeral services together God bless Will Packer put a bunch Of people together On this plane
Starting point is 00:11:58 And so we literally Were on there talking For two Three hours Of everything The whole history And you know I just told him to his face, like, brother, I never start
Starting point is 00:12:07 any fucking thing. You know what I'm saying? I come from a world where I mind my own fucking business. This is what Ludacris does. I hear people talk stuff and people take jabs and people take shots. And then, you know, I decide whether or not I want to send the shots back. But at the end of the day, I don't start shit.
Starting point is 00:12:24 I finish it. That's what I do. So at the end of the day, I just, I don't start shit. I finish it. That's what I do. So we on this plane, man, talking about the history of all the shit that we've been through. And it's like, we sat back and laughed
Starting point is 00:12:33 at the end of that shit. You know what I'm saying? And that's what maturity and that's what broke is all about. But we gave the people what they wanted for a certain amount of time and that's what hip hop is.
Starting point is 00:12:42 It starts from competition and we just going to get you that. You know what i'm saying god damn make some noise for that yeah um so i'm going through your discography bro um the discography yeah we're going through it bro i ain't gonna lie to you we got some records here we know we've seen you do verses with with nelly yeah but y'all wasn't in the same room, correct? We were not. I think we were the first rappers to do verses, if I'm not mistaken. And this was at a time where everybody was still at home.
Starting point is 00:13:11 Nobody was leaving. This was quarantine. So this was before people got on the stages and was doing the whole performance and shit. Niggas was at the crib. I'm going to be honest with you. I looked at your face when you walked up and I knew you was going to win. You had the eye of the fucking... I don't know knew you was gonna win I just Like you had the eye
Starting point is 00:13:26 Of the fucking I don't know what you was doing Pushups before that I looked at you I was like He's had pushups before No you know how You know how you were in the zone
Starting point is 00:13:36 Like I looked Was it cause you was bored Let me tell you something We just starting this fucking interview If there's gonna be a common theme For this interview Competitive as fuck I love competition
Starting point is 00:13:49 This is what we do this shit for So that's what you saw on my face Like subtleness Just ready to fucking go Let's go Because you know what you look like You look like the fighter right That's about to fight his brother
Starting point is 00:14:00 That don't want to hurt his brother That's with any opponent by the way That's why I say I don't start shit, I finish shit. That's the other theme of this interview. But go ahead. I'm sorry to interrupt you, my brother. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:14:11 I was so, because I was looking and I know you personally and I know Nelly personally, right? So I know both of you brothers and I'm looking and I'm, you know, as everyone else,
Starting point is 00:14:19 we all bored in the crib and I'm just like this. But I knew how, I seen your face. I knew how serious you took it And I seen Nelly That's my brother too
Starting point is 00:14:28 Let me just Bick him up But I seen him I seen him kind of like You know I don't want to say Not taking it serious But just like
Starting point is 00:14:35 You know I'm here And I seen your face You had the face On your gut right now You were zoned in You were looking at your DJ And I just knew it And that goes back to the competition thing
Starting point is 00:14:48 It does not matter Bro, I love this shit, bro I live for this shit I apologize for movies getting in the way Of the music people But god damn it I'm coming back I love this shit
Starting point is 00:15:00 I just love it You know what I'm saying? I've made a living off of it My kids are straight off of it. My whole team. We feed a lot of people. And that's why we take it so serious. I just love it. I love it. That's that face, man. That's that game face.
Starting point is 00:15:14 And how happy are you that Ja Rule turned down that job? Man, I didn't believe it at first when I heard that rumor. What is the rumor? Tell us what is your part? You heard it. I don't want to speak for Ja I heard that rumor. Okay, what is the rumor? Tell us what is your part. I don't want to speak for Ja, but it was definitely something in the realm of John Singleton went to him first for that role in Too Fast, Too Furious because he was in the first Fast and Furious. Right. And for whatever reason, that deal didn't work out.
Starting point is 00:15:41 So I don't know the specifics and so that deal not working out has had ludicrous in two five six seven eight nine ten god damn let me take a sip of my motherfucking drink for that god amen cheers two five six seven eight nine ten and still fucking going another rumor that i heard tell me if this is true or not that you contractually doing the movies you weren't allowed to put out music. Like full length albums. No, no, no. Contractually, I wasn't able to ride my motorcycles. They got that shit in the contract.
Starting point is 00:16:13 While we're shooting, you cannot ride. I'm a motorcycle junkie. I'm an adrenaline junkie, by the way. We'll get on to that. But no, nowhere did they say we couldn't put out music. I actually put out, I want to say, a small project on the release of one of the movies or some shit like that. But no,
Starting point is 00:16:27 I'm just saying it does take a lot of time and I'm the type of person that I'm going to put 100% into whatever the fuck I'm doing at the time. So I'm not the nigga
Starting point is 00:16:35 that's going to be half-assing an album and music and shooting a role in a movie at the same time. So it's like my management and my team,
Starting point is 00:16:42 they love me for that but they always hate me for that shit at the same time. I'm just full throttle with it. So that's where it's at. management and my team they love me for that but they always hate me they hate me for that at the same time i'm just full throttle with it so that's what was that your first acting gig my first acting gig was was crash the that one i got damn academy of war yeah um that's what i think was armor right no no no no no wait um um don cheetah don cheetah was in there sandra bullock brendan frazier my brother lorenz tetah Was in there Sandra Bullock Brendan Fraser My brother Lorenz Tate Was in there Terrence Howard
Starting point is 00:17:07 Was in that Yeah that shit won The Academy Award I love how People just start Dropping names When they in a good movie I've never been in a good movie
Starting point is 00:17:14 Where I can drop niggas names Nigga you in a classic Stop playing You are in a classic Yeah but I don't know They real names Water But tell them about
Starting point is 00:17:21 Your zombie movie Oh no But um So that was your first movie was Crash? Hey, man, you got to say the fucking classic that you in, though. Come on, man. What's the classic movie you in? But your first movie you was in is Crash. That's the first movie?
Starting point is 00:17:33 I had a small part in The Wash. That was like a... In The Wash, that's right. With Dr. Dre and them. Snoop and Dr. Dre and shit. That was like a cameo. But the first movie, movie, Crash. Then Too Fast, Too Furious.
Starting point is 00:17:44 Then Hustle and Flow. Right. Furious, then Hustle & Flow. Right. Yeah. Hustle & Flow, John Singleton, and Craig Brewer. And man, it was just I mean, I remember going to... Skinny Black. Skinny Black. Skinny Black. Hell yeah. Is that your favorite role you ever played? Nah, the role in Crash is the favorite role I've ever played, to be completely honest
Starting point is 00:17:59 with you. Okay. And it's the Hustle & Flow shit, I remember John Singleton coming to me saying he wanted me to play a rapper in a movie I was like man I'm not doing that I don't want to play a fucking rapper I'm a rapper I'm like if I'm going to do these roles I want to do something outside of the realm
Starting point is 00:18:12 of my own personality and then he sat me down and he was like well you know this isn't your personality this is kind of a little bit outside of it and then I was like he convinced me to do it and the rest is history and rest in peace to John Singleton because he's the one who put me, like we said, in Too Fast, Too Furious.
Starting point is 00:18:28 He took Ice Cube and, you know, he put him in Boys in the Hood. He's taking Tyrese and put him in Baby Boy. So he takes people from the music world, notices a talent in them, and then literally puts them in movies. Next thing you know, catapult them to a whole other level of their lives. Iconic. So may he rest in peace, man. I'm you know, catapult them to a whole other level of their lives. Iconic movies, too. Iconic. So may he rest in peace, man. I'm forever grateful, forever thankful, forever thankful. He lived down the block from me before he passed away.
Starting point is 00:18:52 I used to hang out with him all the time, and I told him, can you put me in a snowfall? And he said, never. Why the fuck did he say that? Because he said, my New York accent is too foul. He said, I can never go for an L.A. person. And I was like, he's kind of right. I've been living in the South for 16 years. I've not. And I was like, he's kind of right. He's kind of, I've been living in the South for 16 years.
Starting point is 00:19:06 I've not left my New York accent. What would your accent for that been? Nah, I don't think I'm going to do that. Try it. Just try it. Nah,
Starting point is 00:19:12 you're going to get me in the middle of the book because I'm just drinking up. I want to see what you're doing. I want to hear you go. Come on. Give me your best South Central accent.
Starting point is 00:19:19 La, la, la, la, la. But you know what's dope? On Snowfall, that Dub C is actually, he's the dialect. The trainer. Yeah, that's dope. On Snowfall, that Dub C is actually, he's the dialect. The trainer. Yeah, that's dope.
Starting point is 00:19:28 I didn't know that. Yeah. Somebody told us on Drink Jams. No, I saw it at the behind the scenes. But yeah, I know that Dub C trained him. So John Singleton is ill. Shout out to Dub C. Moving on.
Starting point is 00:19:40 Let's get to Stand Up and that video. Stand Up. I remember man, we was all in the Def Jam offices man. That shit right there deserves a show all within itself. Just being a Def Jam in New York City. You doing my interview. That's my next question. Oh my bad.
Starting point is 00:19:58 I'm trying to lighten things for you. That's how you know this nigga's good. He's good. You got Murder Inc. You got Rockefeller You got Disturbing the Peace You got all these I'm talking about craziness X up there one day
Starting point is 00:20:09 J up there one day Jop up there another day You got Red and Meth coming through Smoking the place out But all that being said It's just like bro I remember going up there And stand up coming out
Starting point is 00:20:20 And this nigga Herb Gotti Just bombarded me Yo What the That's how you put out a fucking single beat what the fuck that's what i'm talking about nah it was like i just that type of energy was crazy but i think as artists we all have certain records where we're kind of on the fence about if that shit is a hit we know it's a fucking hit and somewhere we like we think it's a hit and then that shit
Starting point is 00:20:47 is not a fucking hit. When I heard Stand Up, me and this nigga Kanye was in the studio in Atlanta, Georgia. He came down to Atlanta. And this is a dope ass story because it was the engineer and it was Kanye. And I know a lot of people, you know, we talk about producers and a lot of them. You don't credit Kanye for being a producer. And it's early Kanye. Listen, bro.
Starting point is 00:21:05 Producers, sometimes they don't, you know they're a producer, you don't see these motherfuckers touching electronic equipment in person. Literally just me, Kanye, and the engineer, that motherfucker made that beat in like five minutes on the goddamn ASR-10 keyboard
Starting point is 00:21:19 by himself. It's literally just us three. Wow. And I mean, it was fucking amazing. And if you listen to that song, there's probably like five sounds in the song. That's it. Yeah, yeah. It's a simple beat, right?
Starting point is 00:21:30 It's very simple. So I call it dynamic simplicity. That motherfucker did that. So all that being said, yeah, stand up. As soon as I heard that shit, I knew it was a hit. But how did you come up with the concept for the video? Man, that's just the way my mind hit. That was you that came up with the concept? If I have a couple of things
Starting point is 00:21:46 that I've never kind of, that I regret in life, is that I wanted you to direct one of my videos. We can still do that, my brother. Oh yeah, no, I'm going to have to make the record. I ain't got the record, but how did you come up with the first dance? Man, the way my mind works, I wouldn't even be able to answer that fucking question
Starting point is 00:22:02 for you, bro. I just, whatever the most ridiculous, ludicrous, out of this world, wild shit is, that's what I come up with. And I'm like, let's do that. And I definitely got to give Dave Myers his credit as well, because, you know, he shot a lot of my videos, and he shot that one.
Starting point is 00:22:18 But the big shoes, you know, the baby head on the, I mean, the big head on the baby's body, the little person hanging from my necklace, all of that, it's just, I mean, the big head on the baby's body, the little person hanging from my necklace, all of that. I just love the visual aspect and just showing people something outside of the realm of what they normally see. I love it.
Starting point is 00:22:36 And just creating my own lane. You know what I mean? And by the way, of course, I was 100% inspired by the Busters of the world and the Misses of the world, but I had to make my own lane even in that world of phenomenal videos because i mean that's what kind of really really what separates you right we know you're lyrical we know you could pick hits we know you could do that but it's really the um i think that's something that me and you share is like the comedic sense it's to make people want to be entertained and laugh you know what i mean now that's a good ass question because a lot of
Starting point is 00:23:06 people don't know what I can attribute a lot of my style and videos and all these crazy ideas to. I literally was raised off of Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy and comedians. That's all I used to watch as a kid. When you're young and you're not supposed to be watching that shit. So I'm like 7,
Starting point is 00:23:22 8, 9, 10 years old. Biz Markie too. All of that shit. I'm talking about I was raised off comedians. So in'm like, you know, seven, eight, nine, ten years old. Biz Markie. Biz Markie too. All of that shit. I'm just, I'm talking about I was raised off comedian. Okay, okay, okay. So in terms of me
Starting point is 00:23:29 having this style where it's like there's comedic elements and my videos being funny and me just always wanting to have a good ass time and laugh
Starting point is 00:23:37 and just be lighthearted and just have fun. That shit comes from just me loving comedy. I was a deaf comedy jam fiend. Like I watched shit over and over again. Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryor, now Dave Chappelle, Martin. I love that shit.
Starting point is 00:23:51 Love it. Now, one of the videos you made was somebody bothering somebody in the store while they're in the bathroom. You know, that shit got worse. You said it got worse? Yeah, like when you go to take a piss. What? What are you talking about? People taking a selfie now. What is this all about you talking about? What do you mean? you go to take a piss. What? What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:24:05 People taking a selfie now. What is this motherfucker talking about? What do you mean? I went to take a piss the other day. And someone tried to take a selfie with you? It was in a selfie. Aw, come on. They had to handle it.
Starting point is 00:24:12 Nah, dog. You're crazy, man. No, shit is crazy out here. They did it to you? You don't go to the bathrooms. I don't go to bathrooms. You don't go to the bathrooms. I don't go to the bathrooms.
Starting point is 00:24:22 You don't go to the bathrooms. What is some crazy shit that aalker ever did to you? The craziest shit that ever happened to us? You want another one? Are you sure you want another one right now? I need a tip. I'm going in. Yeah, I'm going in.
Starting point is 00:24:34 Nah, we was on tour, and I was on my tour bus, and we noticed there was a car following us from one city to the next. So we're talking a three-hour ride. So after the first 30, 45 minutes, we like, yo, this fucking car is 100% following us. So we pull over and it's a whole fucking family that gets out talking about
Starting point is 00:24:52 father, mother, kids. They are the ultimate ludicrous fans and they're following us to the next city. And we was like, what the fuck is going? What race are they?
Starting point is 00:25:02 This is a good game. Yes. This is from the mountains of Caucasus. Caucasians. They're definitely Caucasians. 100%. I sold 20 million records. I love you.
Starting point is 00:25:17 I love you. But yeah, that was probably the craziest shit that ever happened. We had to make them stop following us. Wait, did you have a wrapped bus? Is this why they're following? Did they know that was the bus? No, we had a bunch of buses.
Starting point is 00:25:27 The wrapped one was not the one that I was on, put it that way, but obviously they knew I was on it. So they figured out which bus you were on. They figured out
Starting point is 00:25:32 I was on that fucking bus. 100%. So, I mean, Luda, man, your career is just phenomenal, right? Thank you, bro. For real. When is the time,
Starting point is 00:25:43 because I know from my own personal experience, sometimes I still don't think I've made it, right? Or still don't feel like I got to the level where I want to get. But there's so many people
Starting point is 00:25:54 in this world that says, oh, man. When was the time that you felt like, man, I'm here. Like, I can't be. Man, it was two different times. So one, like I told you,
Starting point is 00:26:04 I used to work in that radio station And they never had us on contract Cause I was Myself and a guy by the name of Poon Daddy Were the youngest The youngest guys At the radio station
Starting point is 00:26:13 Is DC now? No no not that Okay okay my bad So we were the youngest people At the station So basically Everybody else had contracts At least year contracts
Starting point is 00:26:21 So me and him I'm like again I'm 18 So I'm young as hell I don't know shit I'm just out here having I'm 18, so I'm young as hell. I don't know shit. I'm just out here having fun, making more money than I've seen, hosting clubs. So since they didn't have us on a contract,
Starting point is 00:26:32 you know, we were in fear of losing our jobs every day because we were live wires. We were doing stupid shit at that radio station. Things that you would get fired for immediately. Not shock jock type shit. Maybe for back then. You know, shock jock is like doing something that, you know.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Oh, you're talking about against the competitors? Yes, yes, yes. No, I'm talking about just stupid young shit. Okay, okay, okay. You know, smoking weed in the limo, almost burning the goddamn car down, all types of stupid shit. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:26:57 So, yeah. He was young. He was doing young shit. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. The crazy shit is that at the end of the day, when I was, when, what's your fantasy came out? So, I had an independent. Wait, so, what, time day When I was When What's your fantasy came out So I had an independent Wait so
Starting point is 00:27:07 Tell me Tell me What's your fantasy came out While you were still On the radio While I was still At the radio station Oh that's legendary
Starting point is 00:27:12 Let's make some Independent I thought you quit On my bad Let me be quiet So the whole story goes I'm at this station And I'm making these
Starting point is 00:27:20 You know Little hundreds of dollars Here and there While I'm hosting these clubs So I built up enough money To where I had about Five to,000 to $10,000 where I put all that money back into my own album. So I'm paying for all my recording,
Starting point is 00:27:32 all my mixing, all of my mastering. And this is a time when vinyl was still out. So I pressed this whole fucking CD together and I had the vinyl and everything and then I distributed independently. Even though first you kind of sell the shit out the trunk, then there was an independent distributor in Atlanta. So once I started, I put the shit out,
Starting point is 00:27:49 but the craziest, most dynamic, strategic part about this whole plan is in radio, as you know, as time goes on, everybody at radio, they move to different cities, so a lot of people don't stay in one particular slot in one city at a time. So during that three to four years that I told you I was up there trying to get put on as Ludacris
Starting point is 00:28:07 and eventually had to invest in myself, I had a lot of friends in different places that had dispersed all around the country. I literally told them, yo, I got this single. It's called What's Your Fantasy? Just give it a fucking try on your station. To other stations.
Starting point is 00:28:22 I had a network, but it was all a plan. So they started playing it. The shit gets instant reaction, obviously. Instant reaction on their channels. So once the shit started to blow up, and I knew... You get BDS spins,
Starting point is 00:28:37 which is what's key at that time. We had like 800 BDS spins on our independent artists, which was un-fucking-heard of. So this is when all the labels started calling me. Before I get to that, we motherfuckers started calling my cell phone. I don't even know how the fuck they got my cell phone number.
Starting point is 00:28:51 I'm talking about CEOs at every goddamn label. And, you know, that's another story for another day. But ended up signing with Def Jam, and they sent me my contract. And I remember being on air, and all those times that this station made me feel like I could get fired every fucking day, signing my contract
Starting point is 00:29:08 while I was still on the air and that being one of the best fucking days of my life, knowing that I didn't tell them to go fuck themselves or nothing. The radio. Yeah, I just literally,
Starting point is 00:29:18 after I signed that contract, went to them and said, hey, I probably won't be working here anymore. I was just letting y'all know. I'm going to put my two weeks in. The best fucking two weeks of life. I'm going to give you something.
Starting point is 00:29:30 It was symbolic for you. No, it was symbolic as fuck. So the other crazy shit is, you know DJ Greg Street. Greg Street was my competitor. So he's on this other station that you, everything you do is competing against the other station. And we were on the same time slot, which is 6 to 10. So the moment when What's Your Fantasy started gaining traction,
Starting point is 00:29:49 and I'm on the air the same as him, and this motherfucker started playing What's Your Fantasy, somebody texted me and was like, yo, Greg Street is playing your song right now. He's not in competition. I said, I'm not believing that shit. So we on commercial break. I turn to this motherfucker's station,
Starting point is 00:30:01 and I hear my song on the competitor's station. And I was like, that's it. I fucking made it. One of the best days of my life. So all that in one. You can clap. That's the first time. That's another time. Okay. Number two is going to be
Starting point is 00:30:17 me winning that rap album, best rap album at the Grammys. So this was probably a good 10 years later. Every time I went to the Grammys, I'm in a category with Eminem and Ja Rule, and these motherfuckers were killing this shit. Jay-Z, DMX, Luda's huge artists, but when it comes to these motherfuckers, I'm losing every motherfucking award, right? You're not in Illuminati yet.
Starting point is 00:30:42 I'm not fucking with you. Yeah, no, it's all good so i come around and finally man i make this album um release therapy bro and i went on there and i was like man i'm making this fucking album and i'm going to win best rap album for this shit i don't care what happens i'm specifically going in writing this shit making it the way it needs to be the intention was there and when they called my fucking name bro i was like that was that did it for me. Because of, you know, all the years, it was like over a decade of loss. And then finally getting that recognition
Starting point is 00:31:10 and then best rap album at that, which you already know is hard as fuck. And then they weren't really giving the rap category what they needed. And then a funny story to that, I know Chaka gonna laugh at this shit. Because I was so passionate, after I got that award, I went backstage. And at this time, they had all the artists separated by curtains, so motherfuckers weren't in specific rooms.
Starting point is 00:31:29 I say that to say I get back and I'm like, yeah, fuck yeah, I made it. I did it. I won. I literally set out this album to get a Grammy and I got it. And all of a sudden, I hear this voice from the other room on the other side of the curtain. And the motherfucker's like, shut the fuck up, man. Some of us didn't win any goddamn credits today. I'm like, who the fuck is that?
Starting point is 00:31:50 I pulled the curtain back. This nigga Justin Timberlake is on the other side of that motherfucker. Oh, shit. That nigga said, shut the fuck up. Some of us didn't win any goddamn credits this year. What the fuck? Make some noise for Justin. Yo,
Starting point is 00:32:08 I respect that. That nigga Justin gangster, bro. That nigga gangster as well. Holy shit. That is crazy. And you know what? I'm going to say something else.
Starting point is 00:32:16 We talked about T.I. earlier and like all the shit that we've been through. Something that I do respect of all the shit that we've been through. That same setting
Starting point is 00:32:24 within that same time frame as me winning because he was in the same category. He came up to me and said, look me in my eye, gave his hand and said, congratulations.
Starting point is 00:32:32 That's some hard shit for a nigga to do. So you know what I'm saying? We talk all the shit that we had that was negativity. That's something I want everybody to know that was positive as fuck. And I respect that.
Starting point is 00:32:42 That's real. That's love. Tia's a man. Hell yeah. Tia's a man. yeah See how it's a man Cause we asked him about you On the same show And he kinda
Starting point is 00:32:49 Had the same sentiment Let's give some flowers out Let's give some flowers Let's give some flowers out I'ma be honest with you From the beginning of our show We wanted to give you these flowers We wanted to tell you
Starting point is 00:33:01 How great you are You You He's been a year one request. Year one request. I know you were on the quarantine episode, but that didn't count. I appreciate that. That means the world to me, man.
Starting point is 00:33:12 Let me tell you who you are as an artist, right? I'm going to tell you who I was a person, but who you are as an artist. You have that unique of fitting. Let's give a big round of applause for the Flowers. Thank you. Mr. Lee not waiting for you to finish that speech. And by the way, you're the first one to get the flowers in a briefcase. That's a new iteration of the flowers right there.
Starting point is 00:33:34 Yes, yes. Snoop Dogg sounds like better than the groundy because it's from your people. But let me tell you who you are. Let me tell you who you are. Tell me about myself, motherfucker. Let's go. I want to hear it. There isn't another artist who can fit in a gangster genre and kind of like uh a backpack genre and kind of like a top 40 genre and kind of like any genre and kind of fit there you know how you like that's love he's like you're a rapper's rapper that's what it is really you're a rapper
Starting point is 00:34:05 yes you are yes listen coming from y'all that means the world to me i'm gonna take a drink i'm just being honest with you that's love because that means you can you can morph into anything you're a true mc man and i don't know if i said this earlier but one of my biggest gripes with pharrell was when i first got in the studio for realarrell, he was like, you have to embrace your character. I'm sorry. Was that Lior or was that Pharrell? It was Lior Pharrell. Lior L?
Starting point is 00:34:31 Lior L? It was Lior L. No, but Pharrell was like, no, but he really was like, you have to embrace your character how Busta embraces a character. And I didn't understand because I was like, I'm not a character. I'm just being who I am. And he's like, it doesn't matter who you think you are. It's how the people perceive you. Right.
Starting point is 00:34:51 And I never embraced my character. And I felt like from the moment I seen you for him, what's your fantasy? I was like, this guy's embracing his character. He's doing exactly what Pharrell. And by the way, throw them bowls. I heard that beat. Yeah, word. I heard about this.
Starting point is 00:35:05 You got to tell me what the fuck happened, bro. I passed on that. I've been kicking my ass for 21 years. For 21 years, I've been kicking my ass and kicking myself in the ass. It was not for you, bro.
Starting point is 00:35:17 That's crazy. It wasn't for me. Let's be honest. Let's be honest. You knew that, Jacques? It wasn't for me. It wasn't for you. It was meant to go
Starting point is 00:35:24 or it was supposed to go. I wouldn't have did Southern Hospitality. I wouldn't have did throw the bowls. Yeah, no, it wasn't for you. It wasn't for you. It was meant to go or it was supposed to go. I wouldn't have did Southern Hospitality. I wouldn't have did Odom Bowls. Yeah, no, it wasn't for you. It wasn't for you. Every time I see the video with you upside down, I was like,
Starting point is 00:35:30 that's how I was heard to be. I was upside down. Bro, let me tell you. As you're giving me my applause, I'm going to tell you, banned from TV, that shit changed my fucking life. God damn it.
Starting point is 00:35:38 Changed my life. So anything, look, anything you're giving me right now, that's coming to DNA. No, that shit helped mold me. Hold on, hold on. But let's talk about Thodem Bowls, Southern Hospitality. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:51 You in the studio. This is after my fantasy. Yeah, this is after. And we had to literally turn the fucking album in like the day after I recorded Thodem Bowls. This is already Def Jam, not the independent version of what you were putting out already. No, this is Def Jam. This is when I won Def Jam. What version of Def Jam? Is this L.A. Weed? This was the first already. No, this is Def Jam. This is when I won Def Jam. Your version of Def Jam.
Starting point is 00:36:06 This is L.A. Weed? This is the first album. No, this is Lior and Kevin. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fat Kevin. Fat Kevin. Fat Kevin. Let's just be clear.
Starting point is 00:36:12 It's two different Kevins. Yes, Fat Kevin. I love all three. Rob Love is doing the marketing. I had just started doing the street team. Mike Kaiser. Rob Love. Mike Kaiser.
Starting point is 00:36:22 Julie Greenwald. You had just came to the label. We named the drink after Rob Love. We love that. That's when I started doing Street Team. This was my first project that I worked as the regional for South Florida. Fantasy?
Starting point is 00:36:33 Yeah, this project, Ludacris project. You don't put EFN on. Look at that. Oh, shit. Look at that. That's the piece Doc Fresh would pass it to me and you as well that told Rob. Yeah, so you go to the studio
Starting point is 00:36:45 And then Pharrell Got this beat already playing Pharrell got the beat man And I'm like Believe it or not Like I was saying earlier Sometimes you know it's a hit Sometimes you're like
Starting point is 00:36:53 Eh I thought it was cool When I first heard it Oh did he start doing like this Yeah of course You know Pharrell Do that shit So
Starting point is 00:37:00 Sorry So I go I go in the car Like this is where I write All my music In the car I write all of my shit In the car I love the fucking car go in the car Like this is where I write All my music In the car I write all of my shit In a car
Starting point is 00:37:07 I love the fucking car You got the surround sound I get my own space Roll the window down Producers do that too With the beats They go in the car To listen to the beat
Starting point is 00:37:15 How do they make it? Yeah go ahead 100% So I think maybe it took Maybe 45 minutes to an hour I had them verses I went in there Did the shit
Starting point is 00:37:22 Still thought the song was cool And then when everybody else Heard that motherfucker they was like, are you fucking crazy? This shit is out of here. Where was that? Atlanta? No, we was in Virginia. Virginia? We was in fucking Virginia.
Starting point is 00:37:32 Yeah, we was in Virginia at Pharrell Studios. Okay, okay, okay. I know what that's about. Yep. Hell yeah. So that's how that shit came about, man. And that's what set it off. Because What's Your Fantasy was for the ladies, obviously.
Starting point is 00:37:42 And then once Throw Them Bows came out, it was a wrap. That record is crazy. That rounded everything out in terms of me being a new fucking artist. And it was a game changer. Now, you a new artist, but you on Def Jam. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:39:00 It's Mental Health Awareness Month, and on a recent episode of Just Heal with Dr. J, the incomparable Taraji P. Henson stopped by to discuss how she's discovered peace on her journey. So what I'm hearing you saying is healing is a part of us also reconnecting to our childhood in some sort. You said I look how youthful I look because I never let that little girl inside of me die. I go outside and run outside with the dogs. I still play like a kid. I laugh. You know, I love jokes.
Starting point is 00:39:32 I love funny. I love laughing. I laugh at myself. I don't take myself too seriously. That's the stuff that keeps you young and stops you from being so hard. To hear this and more things on the journey of healing, you can listen to Just Heal with Dr. J from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. AT&T, connecting changes everything. I know a lot of cops, and they get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your gun?
Starting point is 00:40:07 Sometimes the answer is yes, but there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always be no. Across the country, cops called this taser the revolution. But not everyone was convinced it was that simple. Cops believed everything that tasaser told them. From Lava for Good and the team that brought you Bone Valley comes a story about what happened
Starting point is 00:40:29 when a multi-billion dollar company dedicated itself to one visionary mission. This is Absolute Season 1. Taser Incorporated. I get right back there and it's bad. It's really, really, really bad.
Starting point is 00:40:47 Listen to new episodes of Absolute Season 1, Taser Incorporated, on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Binge episodes 1, 2, and 3 on May 21st and episodes 4, 5, and 6 on June 4th. Ad-free at Lava for Good Plus on Apple Podcasts. And to me, the first Southern artist signed to
Starting point is 00:41:14 Def Jam, by the way. No other Southern artist. So it was all New York roster, like you said. You, Red. This is what I want to nip the bud. Because was Scarface already the president? No, no. It was before Scarface had Def Jam South, right?
Starting point is 00:41:28 Or you was already signed to Def Jam, and then they made Scarface the president. I want to say it happened, like, damn near simultaneously. Oh, okay. Yeah. But Scarface became the president. Because I thought it was you first, and then that's when they kind of, like, brought in Scarface. Scarface, I think he was president, like, right before I got signed. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:41:45 Oh, okay. Then co-signed. Yep. So Kevin and Scarface, I was to do that. I think he was president right before I got signed. Oh, really? Oh, you didn't co-sign? Yep. So Kevin and Scarface, I was their first sign. Oh, okay. But again, you had Jay-Z, you had Ja, you had DMX,
Starting point is 00:41:52 you got you, you got Meth, everybody, the whole roster in New York. Right. And I was first Southern artist. So we was debating about whether this was
Starting point is 00:41:59 the right label for us because we was like, I don't know if they're going to know what to do with a Southern artist. There's no other Southern artist. But you must have felt dope because regardless any hip-hop head def jam is the mecca oh listen man l.l cool j changed my life you must have been like
Starting point is 00:42:11 come on man i'm bad that's that's the reason i'm here at this table today that's the reason i rap and i've told this motherfucker that he was there when i got the hollywood star uh just this this this year so man thank you man now l. You can't go lightly on that. Nah, LL Cool J, yeah. So, Def Jam, 100%. I was excited, but that was the only reservation. I was the only Southern artist on there, but that shit worked out like a motherfucker, man. Hell yeah. Would you ever do a residency?
Starting point is 00:42:37 Absolutely. I would love that shit. Where would your first residency be? In Vegas, for sure. That's the makeup of residencies. Where in Vegas? Shout out to Wu-Tang, dude, that just announced a residency. Found Blue? I know Found Blue just opened. I currently have a deal in Vegas, so
Starting point is 00:42:51 politically, I'm not going to be able to tell you that answer right now. But next time I'm on Drink Champs, I got you. This won't be the last time. Let's do Drink Champs wherever that deal is. Let's go. Let's do that. Now, Lovers and Friends, when I was on here we were on our way
Starting point is 00:43:06 coming here a lot of people said they made a lot of babies to lovers and friends that's a great thing shit is that a great thing? that's a great fucking thing
Starting point is 00:43:14 a lot of people make babies to what's your fantasy too god damn it but y'all lovers and friends we never shot a video for that shit ever
Starting point is 00:43:21 and this record is huge but until this day I just had a show last night. I got a show tonight. We always do Lovers and Friends and the whole crowd sings the whole damn song. But that's a special one
Starting point is 00:43:30 right there, for sure. So where was you at? Usher called you. And you called him Usher. It's crazy. We were in Miami. Usher had a fucking show. It's funny because
Starting point is 00:43:39 Shaq would fuck with me about my memory, but I have the most selective memory. When you asked me that, that shit came to me immediately, nigga. Me and John showed up for Usher's show
Starting point is 00:43:47 down here in Miami. When you say John, you talking about John Singleton? Lil' John. Oh, Lil' John. Lil' John produced the record. It's actually Lil' John's record. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:43:54 It's actually Lil' John's record, so we came to his show, and this nigga Usher was like, nigga, I got another one. I got another one for us. I was like, word, let me hear this shit. So before he goes on stage,
Starting point is 00:44:02 they let me hear it. I'm like, we out of here, again, on a whole other level. Yeah, it's fucking 100 shit. So before he goes on stage, they let me hear it. I'm like, we out of here. Again. On a whole other level. Yeah, it's fucking 100-something BPM. Lovers and friends. 60-something BPM. We out of here.
Starting point is 00:44:12 Yeah, nah, man. Making history with them. Them two, man, some of the greatest brothers on earth, bro. Right. For sure. Goddamn, let's make some noise for them. Nah, for sure. Listen, it's time for Quick Time of Slime.
Starting point is 00:44:22 Are we ready? All right, Jamie, you ready? Quick Time of Slime. Is everybody ready? Yeah. Quick Time of Slime. Are we ready? All right, Jamie, you ready? Quick Time of Slime. Get everybody ready. Quick Time of Slime. You got it? The second one? All right, by the way, explain him the rules,
Starting point is 00:44:36 and then we're going to tell you the two evil motherfuckers who make these questions. All right, we're going to give you two choices. You pick one, and then nobody drinks. If you say both or neither of one, and then nobody drinks. If you say both or neither of them, we drinking. Okay. So pick and answer.
Starting point is 00:44:50 Y'all got a drink too? Yeah, yeah. I'm drinking with y'all. I'm drinking with you. All right. Yeah, we're not going to let you drink by yourself. All right, all good.
Starting point is 00:44:56 And by the way, we've been excited to have you here, brother. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. And you can take a sip from your drink or take a shot,
Starting point is 00:45:03 whatever you'd like. We're going to, I'm going to give you a shot. Okay. Just have shots, bro. Okay, yeah, okay shot, whatever you'd like. We're going to do a shot. Okay. Just have shots, right? Okay, yeah, okay. No, no, no. We got homegirls.
Starting point is 00:45:09 She's going to give you shots. That's Jamie. Yeah, yeah, that's Jamie. I'm sorry. Yeah, we got one girl here. Let her do her girly job. Oh, God. Let's make some noise.
Starting point is 00:45:19 If we have one girl here, it'd be crazy. If we do take a shot, have Inf come over here and take a shot with us. Okay, okay. We're going to bring him in later. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, cool. All right, so EFN, you want to set it off? Let's go.
Starting point is 00:45:32 Gucci or Jeezy? Ooh. And you can explain if there's stories to go with anybody. We mentioned both names because we want to just talk about different people, not in a bad or negative way. Nah, to me. Bring people's name up. To me, man, I fucking love Both of these guys man
Starting point is 00:45:45 I'm talking about the history That they've made What they've done For the goddamn culture But just personal On a personal level In terms of Who I probably listen to more
Starting point is 00:45:55 It would be Jeezy Okay That's my guy But man Gucci What that motherfucker Has done for Man for the street culture No one in the
Starting point is 00:46:04 Like we talking about Jeezy and Gucci But let's just say For Gucci I don't think anyone Has done for the man, for the street culture. No one in the, like, we talking about Jeezy and Gucci, but let's just say, for Gucci, I don't think anyone has done for street culture what that motherfucker has done for street culture and hip hop, period.
Starting point is 00:46:12 And his transformation health-wise and everything, like, it's crazy. When we did the men's health cover, they had me, 50, Busta, I told them people they need to get Gucci. How the fuck y'all
Starting point is 00:46:23 not gonna get Gucci? That motherfucker made the best transformation in hip-hop, period. Crazy. And they thought he was a clone at one point. They did? Yeah, yeah, yeah, that too. Yeah, they thought he was a clone.
Starting point is 00:46:30 I remember that. I played Cosa Clisena. I said, wait a minute. You played Cosa Clisena? The clone? Wait a minute. T.I. or 2 Chainz? T.I. or 2 Chainz.
Starting point is 00:46:42 You know, I would give credit where credit is due when it comes to T.I.T. I call him T.I.T. in terms of I think that something that people don't give him credit for is how different he tries to be. As opposed to doing what everybody else is doing, I really think he takes the time to make different cadences with his raps. You know what I'm saying? And as a rapper, You have to appreciate that Not Just going off from the norm Because that's risky
Starting point is 00:47:08 But in that particular battle I would I would go with T.I. Okay With T.I. Yeah Outcast or UGK Outcast or UGK
Starting point is 00:47:17 God damn Just take a shot for the South Just take a shot for the South You making me take a shot I got an answer But I'll take a shot Don't lead the witness Don't lead the witness I'm leading the take a shot. Don't lead the witness.
Starting point is 00:47:25 I'm leading the witness. I'm sorry. Don't lead the witness. This is more a personal thing because both UGK and OutKast have done so much for me. People don't realize the relationship that me and Pimp C had, man. He really did a lot behind the scenes when I was first starting out. We had the song on my
Starting point is 00:47:41 first album, Stick Em Up. And that motherfucker's amazing, amazing. But Outkast taking me on tour with them and just everything they did, I'm going to have to go with Outkast. That was the hardest one of all the questions y'all have given me so far.
Starting point is 00:47:57 I got to go with Outkast. No, they, is that what I said? I went on tour with them. I went on tour with them. That's what I't say that. Oh, sorry. You went on tour with them. Yeah. I went on tour with them. That's what I said, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That wasn't your first tour. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:48:09 Wait, was that our first tour? Damn, now we all get together. Me going on tour with Outkast. Yeah, my first time going on tour, Outkast brought me on. And this was the Stankonia tour. Woo! Yeah, Stankonia tour.
Starting point is 00:48:18 I like how you got on that tour. Yeah. You think I saw that when it came to mind? He just said the illest flaws and just tried to act like it was nothing. Yo, man, come on. We got history, though.
Starting point is 00:48:26 Yeah, that's fly, yo. Holy moly. Go ahead. All right. 8-Ball MJG or 3-6 Mafia? God damn. Now we taking a drink on that one.
Starting point is 00:48:34 Take a shot. Finally. Salud. Yeah, salute. Cheers, cheers. Man, I'm talking about those motherfuckers. Both of those were the Bible.
Starting point is 00:48:43 The Bible of life. Yes. Fuck my life. Shit. Next one, E. Hold on, man. I'm talking about those motherfuckers. Both of those were the Bible. The Bible of life. Yes. Fuck my life. Shit. Next one, E. Hold on. I'm recovering from that motherfucker. That's what I wanted the verses to be.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Jesus Christmas. 8-Ball and MJZ and 365. Shauna or Trina? Shauna or Trina? I mean, you know, I'm going to go with the home team. All right. I got to go with Shauna on that. How'd y'all connect?
Starting point is 00:49:02 Yeah, because she's from Chicago, right? Yeah. She used to be in a group called Infamous Syndicate out of Chicago. They were signed to, what was it, Relativity? Yeah, they were signed to Relativity Records. We just remember getting that check from Relativity because you the only nigga that knew that. Shauna knew it too. You and Shauna said, oh, Relativity.
Starting point is 00:49:20 I said, damn, y'all only two niggas in this whole motherfucker that got a Relativity check at that time. I got y'all. Respect that. Go ahead, continue. No, no, he was saying he was so bad. No, no, I was saying
Starting point is 00:49:30 just Shauna in terms of I think she's lyrically and just cadences and flows and how she's able to do shit. She's fucking incredible to me. And that's not to take away
Starting point is 00:49:41 from any of Trina's catalog and what she's done for the culture as well. But just in terms of rapping I gotta go with Shawna on that And Shawna came from Infamous Syndicate Which we noticed her talent
Starting point is 00:49:50 Early on When she was in that group And I was like Man I gotta do something With that girl Crazy with it Imagine how hot Chicago is Shawna
Starting point is 00:49:58 You discover Shawna now Right Right Almost like she was Ahead of her time I'm gonna have to agree That's why she's definitely Ahead of her time Ahead of her time I'm going to have to agree That's why she's definitely Ahead of her time
Starting point is 00:50:07 Ahead of her time You know And I don't think She really gets the respect She deserves I got to go back And listen to that Oh no no no
Starting point is 00:50:12 She's a beast Shawna Beast Shawna Beast like a mother We're going to have her On Drink Champs man Yeah yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:50:16 Definitely Oh tell her that She will definitely Come on Drink Champs 100% Alright Fast and Furious Or Too Fast Too Furious
Starting point is 00:50:23 Which There's two called Fast and Furious or Too Fast Too Furious? There's two called Fast and Furious. You talking about the very first one? The first one. The very first one. I mean, these guys wrote it. I'm just reading the way
Starting point is 00:50:30 they wrote it. No, no, no. You're good. But that's what they meant. They meant the first one and the next one. This will let you know that I'm not a biased person
Starting point is 00:50:37 just because I'm in a fucking movie. I'm going to go with the first one over the shit that I'm in. 100%. Yeah, for sure. And Ja Rule, we love you, but thank you for not coming to work that day.
Starting point is 00:50:44 Yeah, yeah, yeah. That shit set the tone for the rest of the fucking sequel. So it's like, how can you be mad at that? That's crazy how that has endured that series. 100%. But it's the people that's making it endure. It's the whole world. No, no, they love it.
Starting point is 00:51:00 No, it's crazy. It's a cult following. Facts. Eminem or Busta? Why y'all put those two together man shit if it wasn't for buster i wouldn't be here god damn i'm taking the shot fuck that damn these are some tiny ass shots by the way it's a lot no it's a lot of questions trust me it's tiny oh it's a lot oh by design by design all right all good then later on you'll be like damn y'all y'all fucked me up Okay I got you

Starting point is 00:51:40 I'm gonna have to go Listen I'm only I'm only doing this Cause we I got Virgos in the house. I got to go with my Virgo brother, Nas, man. And you know why I say that? Because I'm on the Knock Yourself Out remix, and I'm mad at Jadakiss for never putting that shit out. Jadakiss put that goddamn song out.
Starting point is 00:51:57 Oh, let's bootleg that, Jadakiss. There was a mixtape. Let's bootleg that. That's the only reason I'm saying Nas right now. Jada, put that shit out. Let me stop right now because you also have a record with Nas and J.D.
Starting point is 00:52:10 And J.D. Oh, yeah, yeah. One of the only artists that got a record with Nas and J.D. You and Shaq. Yeah. No, doesn't Khaled
Starting point is 00:52:18 have the joint too with him? Yeah. No, that was recent. Right, right, right. I'm just saying. That was like the unicorn. Of course, yeah. How did you pull that off? Bro, I was literally... Did, that was recent. Right, right, right. I'm just saying. That was like the unicorn. Of course, yeah. How did you pull that off?
Starting point is 00:52:27 Bro, I was literally... Did you lie to both of them? Absolutely not. Did you lie to both of them? I was cool with both of them, my fuckers. He's not going to be on it. He's not going to be on it. Yeah, that's like being at the right place at the right time and being cool with both of them.
Starting point is 00:52:38 You told both of them, yeah. 100%. Holy moly, fuck. Yeah, Nas did his verse first, and then Jay did his second, and I was like... And the song is called I Do It For Hip Hop. And if you ain't heard that shit, you need to go stream this motherfucker right now. It's only on YouTube. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:51 Oh, Guru helped make it happen, and then DJ Premier did the beat. So DJ Premier beat. Nas and Jay-Z, come on. Go listen to that shit. Bring it back. Luda don't get enough love for that. Yo, listen, listen. I ain't gonna lie. Ike a lot. Luda don't get enough love for that. Yo, listen, listen. Ike a lot.
Starting point is 00:53:12 You got Nas and Jay-Z on a primo beat, and people don't even know that. Oh, no. A lot of people know it. Just like he said, that's one of his favorite shit. But it did fly under the radar. But we saying it now on Drink Champs, and y'all motherfuckers got a lot of followers. So something tells me people about to go listen to this shit. Go ahead. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:53:24 Go ahead. Go listen to this. Hell yeah. And you said Young Guru had something to do with it too, right? Yeah, Young Guru. Shout out to Young Guru for making it happen.
Starting point is 00:53:31 Thank you, my guy. Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole. Oh, y'all. Listen, those are the two motherfuckers I love the most right now. They keep me inspired. They keep me inspired.
Starting point is 00:53:40 Should we take another shot? Yeah, you can take that shot. Okay. I love both of them motherfuckers. Yeah, I love them. Those are my picks for the class.
Starting point is 00:53:49 I ain't going to lie, I smell like Bulgari. You smell like that? What do you smell like? I got put on a Bulgari lotion and I like... Wait, how are you doing right now with these drinks?
Starting point is 00:53:57 I'm fantastic, man. I'm fantastic. Luda, we here with... When he stands up at any point, that's when you'll know where he's at. Listen, let me tell you something, Luda.
Starting point is 00:54:06 You, Shaka, your whole team, man. I'm sorry. I'm like, man, I really love you brothers, man. You brothers are the same. Bro, you know, you six days older than me. You know that shit? Yeah, I didn't know that. Six fucking days.
Starting point is 00:54:18 So you my little homie. I like that. All of that, man. Virgo shit. Yeah, Virgo shit. I ain't going to lie, though. The unity that y'all show, the longevity, that shit is so beautiful, man. Like when I seen, because Shaka don't call nobody, you know.
Starting point is 00:54:43 So when Shaka called me, I was like, holy shit. I don't know what I was doing I was just like What's up nigga I was in the middle of something But I made sure I was sounding smooth He's like Yo
Starting point is 00:54:55 We pulling up And It was so good to hear from him Because He's such a good brother man Absolutely Um Y'all team is like
Starting point is 00:55:04 So solid Bro just in case You didn't know And not to Not to cut you off But um He's such a good brother, man. Absolutely. Y'all team is so solid. Bro, just in case you didn't know, and not to cut you off, but 24 years, no contract. Never needed one. 24. Real friendship, man. Every motherfucking handshake, look at each other's eyes, this is what it's going to be, and we riding. And that's it. Unheard of in the music industry.
Starting point is 00:55:26 Because it was an industry. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Exactly. By the way, I want to be a young artist. Can you say that one more time, please? 24 years, no contract, no management contract, no nothing. Just a handshake. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:55:40 Yeah. We still in the funk. Okay, yeah, go ahead. Relax. We're having a sentimental moment. Yeah yeah. You come back. Tupac or DMX? Oh come on you can't the fuck man.
Starting point is 00:55:52 Why would you do that man? DJ Infomance come take a shot with me god damn it. Now y'all getting dirty now. Come on man. We been dirty. Why y'all gonna do that shit bro? We been dirty. We been dirty.
Starting point is 00:56:03 Infomance. Yeah yeah. Solo. Solo. You can't take a shot with me. Come on, man. Solo. Come on. The next one's not going to help. Trust me. AT Aliens or Equimini? AT Aliens or Equimini? I'm going to go with Equimini.
Starting point is 00:56:22 Just because I love AT Aliens, but Equimini, there were some records on there that was just like... Let's put it this way. I think Andre 3000 was spazzing on AT Aliens but Equimini there was some records on there that was just like let's put it this way I think Andre 3000 was spazzing on AT Alien but he spazzed on a whole other fucking level on Equimini
Starting point is 00:56:31 go back and listen to that shit you'll see what I'm talking about he even did his thing on the flute album too I thought the flute album was kind of dope I wasn't mad at the flute album
Starting point is 00:56:39 we need that sometimes I'm definitely not mad at the flute album but then Lupe Fiasco rhymed on one of the beats and then Joe Button dissed him and I was like I wanted to rhyme on one of the beats and I was like no I said that though before I'm definitely not mad at the food. But then Lupe Fiasco rhymed on one of the beats, and then Joe Button dissed him,
Starting point is 00:56:45 and I was like, I wanted to rhyme on one of the beats. And I was like, no. I said that, though. Before I came, I said, watch. Hip-hop will sample this and make it more hip-hop than anything else. Somebody already did that shit. Yeah. Yeah, Lupe.
Starting point is 00:56:56 And they didn't like Lupe's. I didn't hear that shit. According to Joe Button, this is what happened. Come on, man. I'm sorry. God damn. It takes a lot for Joe to like something. I'm looking at another podcast.
Starting point is 00:57:04 I'm sorry. Continue. Kanye or takes a lot for Joe to like something. I'm looking at other podcasts. I'm sorry. Continue. Kanye or Pharrell? On a production tip? On whatever tip. God damn. That's a hard one, too, bro. Two totally different styles, in my opinion.
Starting point is 00:57:21 Fuck. Kanye or Pharrell. Come back to me on that one. Go to the next one. I like that. I like that. I want to think about that. Come back to me on that one.
Starting point is 00:57:30 It's a good answer. That's the best answer. We're definitely coming back to you on that one. Because you know what's crazy? You know what's crazy? It's like the catalog that they have is, it's so extensive that you can't, you can't like, that ain't no shit that you need to hurry up and. But they are kind of totally different people
Starting point is 00:57:46 even though they have a lot of similarities yeah let's go to the next one yeah LL Cool J or Big Daddy Kane I just told y'all
Starting point is 00:57:54 LL Cool J is like the holy grail because if it wasn't for him I wouldn't rap and I've seen Big Daddy Kane a couple times over this hip hop 50 year
Starting point is 00:58:02 and I've told him how much he meant to me but if I had to choose between those two. Rock the bells, that's what they're doing. Big Daddy Kane's still smooth, too. Nah, Big Daddy Kane.
Starting point is 00:58:09 Oh, 100%. I be trying to get him out of character. You can't, because that is his character. Smooth operator that gets the job done. Yeah. Real slow. Metro Boomin' or Zaytoven?
Starting point is 00:58:25 Man, Zaytoven, that motherfucker's a guru on that goddamn piano, man. Both of them extremely talented. If I had to choose one, I'm going to go with Metro, man. Okay. On a production tip. Organized noise or beats by the pound? I was about to say, you can stop there. Organized noise, once again.
Starting point is 00:58:43 When it comes to production, organized fucking noise. They need more acclaim. Just go back and listen to any of that Outkast, Goody Mob, Cool Breeze, Dungeon Family, but when you listen to their production, it didn't sound like any fucking thing
Starting point is 00:59:00 that was out. And they changed it per artist. Their sound for each group and artist was different. 100%. So I got to go with Organized Noise on that, for sure. Y'all South niggas get together real good. I see that.
Starting point is 00:59:14 I see what's going on. What's going on? I'm watching, I'm watching. Lil Baby or DaBaby? Ooh. Two different styles right there as well. Shit. A lot of people say
Starting point is 00:59:25 DaBaby Is the new Luda Nah I've heard those comparisons And I've seen him in person man And he's such a talented dude man The motherfucker directing his own videos Yeah nah he's dope That's what we always thought you did
Starting point is 00:59:38 Yeah yeah I mean to a degree I still do But I just told him how proud I was of him And when I look at What he's doing You know he did mention me before. He said that I inspired him to do some of the videos he's done. So just because of that, I love Lil Baby. But let's go with the baby because that motherfucker got some little lewd-ass shit on him.
Starting point is 00:59:56 Hell yeah. Tego Calderon or Don Omar? Nigga, how many of these do we have? We have a lot. Let's play a small shot. Oh, gotcha. Okay. Oh, that's right.
Starting point is 01:00:06 And Tego and Don Omar Was both in Fast and Furious Yeah Otago or Don Man that's a Take a shot We can yeah We can say both If Shaq can say take a shot
Starting point is 01:00:14 This shit got real Yeah yeah yeah But I don't have I ain't got a shot Yeah yeah no no no Jamie Jamie got you Jamie
Starting point is 01:00:19 You know Jamie ATL as well Oh she's ATL You know she She rep ATL Yeah yeah she told me that Yeah yeah I'ma take the shot Follow Follow Bam You know Jamie in ATL as well. Oh, she's ATL. You know she rep ATL. That's right. Yeah, yeah. She told me that. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:26 I'm going to take the shot. Cheers, cheers. Bam. Is that the difference between, and I know we're in QuickTime with Sly, we're kind of like making music and movies. A lot of the times when I made a movie, I made about seven to like nine or 12,
Starting point is 01:00:44 something like that, little cameos. But I had to do physicals. I had to do all that. Yeah. I don't have to do that when I make an album. Is that the difference? It's a lot of differences, but that's definitely one of them. We can do whatever the fuck we want.
Starting point is 01:00:57 We don't take drug tests and shit like that as rappers. You know, it's the most freedom. You know what? I'm glad you asked that because people would think, like, what's the better job to have? Sometimes when you're an A-list movie star, you get the huge bucks and you get millions and millions of dollars, right? Some rappers don't necessarily make that in that short amount of time. But the crazy thing about what I see that movie stars envy about rappers and entertainers is the fucking freedom that comes along with what we do.
Starting point is 01:01:27 And that, you can't put a price on that shit. So, my number one job in the world, and I feel like everyone should aspire,
Starting point is 01:01:34 or what they aspire to if they want to be in the music industry is to be, is to have that freedom. 100%. I can't tell you how many times,
Starting point is 01:01:42 Lula, and I'm not, I'm going to be very careful with what I'm about to say, how many times I hung out with basketball players, football players. I love funny. I love laughing. I laugh at myself. I don't take myself too seriously. That's the stuff that keeps you young and stops you from being so hard. To hear this and more things on the journey of healing, you can listen to Just Heal with Dr. J from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the

Starting point is 01:05:29 Why the fuck did I just have deja vu right now? Like, this is the first time on Drink Chaps. Him just saying that to me about basketball players getting high as fuck. That moment,
Starting point is 01:05:38 I've seen and heard this shit before. This is the first. What the fuck? Yes. That shit was crazy as hell. I'm just being honest. I would be looking at these guys. No, they do. It's true being honest. I would be looking at these guys like...
Starting point is 01:05:45 No, they do. It's true, though. I'd be looking at them like, you know, I don't got to see Roger Goodell. Russell Simmons is not coming to see me. He doesn't give a fuck. Damn. These guys will go in. Right.
Starting point is 01:06:00 And then they got to play on Sunday. And I watch. And I say, he didn't make a sack at all. Why did he get high with me? Yo. It was your fault. Yo, you're going a little too far, bud. I go to the studio, my verse is still okay.
Starting point is 01:06:20 The next day. It might be better, right? Yeah, you helped his verse. Yo, that this verse. Spiff TV is going to kill me for saying this story. I'm going to say this real fast. I hung out with one real fast. I hung out with a baseball player. We're chilling.
Starting point is 01:06:37 This motherfucker gets bent. And I get bent, but my crib is right there. I'm like, I know I can go to sleep. I go to sleep. He wakes up the next day. I turn on the television. He strikes out every bit. Yo, y'all be just not getting fun.
Starting point is 01:07:00 I'm sitting there like, that's me. So I'm sorry, athletes. You got to relax. I've had some similar experiences, so you're telling the truth. Like I said, deja vu, bro. That's real. Okay, next one. Oh, man.
Starting point is 01:07:18 Hustle and Flow or what the fuck? Hustle and Flow and Crash or Crash. Crash, man. Crash. Hustle and Flow is death. Both of those are classics, by the way. Just the experience that I had. Thank you. With going to the Academy Awards and that shit winning when nobody thought it was going to do that.
Starting point is 01:07:35 And it was an independent shot movie, and that shit is everything to me. That damn Crash movie. To have that on my resume is out of this world. That was first, right? Crash was the first. Crash was before Hustlin' Floor. I know you picked Crash, but Terrace Howard just did an interview talking about
Starting point is 01:07:51 how he didn't get paid for Hustlin' Floor. You know what he said? He got $15,000? No, $15,000. Take up your money, bro. $4,015, 2010. That's fucked up because I got paid like a motherfucker.
Starting point is 01:08:09 Sorry. Damn, that's my nigga. His deal was different than mine. Mr. Lee is getting $4,000 only, man. Oh, my God. Oh, yeah, yeah. I mean, I don't know anything about that, but I heard him say that. Yeah, that's crazy.
Starting point is 01:08:24 That is crazy 100% That's why you got Shock on your tank Absolutely You didn't make That type of deal Go ahead
Starting point is 01:08:31 The Source or XXL The Source or XXL I'ma have to go With the Source Just cause I got A Source award That my fucking creed I don't think I have
Starting point is 01:08:41 A XXL award That's the original XXL made awards Yeah I gotta go with it gotta go with the source yeah now you just making up shit now what you know Vin Diesel or the rock Vin Diesel or the rock I would only say Vin Vin started the franchise when it comes to fast but man both of them are fuckers are some of the most disciplined individuals I know when it comes to whatever they put their mind to. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:11 Yeah. And then Tyrese and The Rock worked their shit out? They did work their shit out. Nice. 100%. They did. That's real. All right.
Starting point is 01:09:19 Go ahead. Meth or Red? Man, people used to say I was a down south Red man. I love Red, and I just saw him recently at the same place I saw you, at the Leo Cohen event. And I was just giving him his praises, man. And I've had moments and some history with both of them, but in terms of just who influenced me more, I would have to go with Red man.
Starting point is 01:09:44 Rick Ross or Trick Daddy? Rick Ross. But I would say without Trick Daddy, Rick Ross wouldn't be here. Damn, that was hard. Which is very difficult to choose between those two. God damn. But I mean, just in terms of when I'm listening
Starting point is 01:10:00 to all of the catalogs, I would go with Ross on that one. But thank you, Trick, for even allowing Ross to, you know, to do what he did, man, in the beginning. He's the mayor.
Starting point is 01:10:10 He's the mayor. Yeah, he put him on, I think he put him on the record. And Trick got his team done, too. Let's make some noise for that. Oh, shit. Only you would do that and make some noise for that.
Starting point is 01:10:17 My nigga, they got his goal out of there. I love Trick, bro. He's going to go to Parents' Teacher Night now. He could have gone there before with his goal team.
Starting point is 01:10:24 I'm not sure. T's got goals, too. Yeah, T's got goals, thinking, go to the parents' teacher night now. He could have gone to the football team. I'm not sure. Teaches got goals, too. Yeah, teachers got goals, too, by the way. DJ Khaled or DJ Drama? DJ Khaled or DJ Drama. Both my niggas. Drama's looking at this very closely. Oh, no, for sure.
Starting point is 01:10:38 Very, very closely. Just letting you know. He's going to text you. I love Drama, but I have this record that no matter where I go, called All I Do Is Win, I do it every goddamn show. So as much as I love drama, I got to go with Khaled on this one. The honesty is real. Hell yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:53 All right, this is a difficult one. Scarface or Ice Cube? Fuck, man. Shot. Shot. God damn, that's a hard one. You know what? I'm going to take the shot, but I am going to say Scarface on that one. You what I'ma take the shot But I am gonna say
Starting point is 01:11:06 Scarface on that one God damn it Take the shot though But I'ma still I'ma take the shot Just cause I wanna Take a fucking shot Let's go
Starting point is 01:11:10 You wanna explain Why you went back on Both of those man Both of those artists Are so amazing Take it Both of those artists To me are like
Starting point is 01:11:20 Like you say Artists Artists Everybody has pretty much Set their tone Or been influenced By those two motherfuckers in some way, shape, or form. Ice Cube, what he did for the West Coast and all of the industry and what Scarface did for the South and all of the industry. Both being very lyrical.
Starting point is 01:11:37 Both being extremely lyrical, but I think my heart is closer to Scarface, which is why I chose Scarface. Got it. You play golf? Man, we was just talking about this shit. I don't have the patience yet, man. Neither do I. I'm going to get there. I want one day.
Starting point is 01:11:49 Thank you for being a real Virgo. Yeah, for sure. I can't fuck y'all golf niggas. I don't have the patience yet, man. I'm getting there, though. Is Face that good at golf? Face is good at golf. Yeah?
Starting point is 01:11:59 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I didn't know that. I had no idea the nigga was that good. Yeah, yeah. He's serious. He's serious. Yeah, he's good he's God what's next Alright
Starting point is 01:12:06 Timbaland or Swiss Beats Ah fuck man Both my brothers Those are both my brothers They're friends in the industry And I have very few Like when you talk about Real shit
Starting point is 01:12:16 Those are both my friends But uh It was no Secret When I had my verses I was giving praises I feel like To me
Starting point is 01:12:24 Timbaland is the best producer of our time. That's just my opinion. And I know people will beg to differ, but when you go back and listen to his beats and you think about how he structured snares and kicks and 808s and the bounces and arpeggiating, it's completely out of the norm again of what anyone else is doing.
Starting point is 01:12:48 And I just feel like he puts so much into it. And Swizz making history on a whole other level for what he does, but personally, I got to go with Timbaland. And Tim is nice with R&B as well. The fact that he can go between both is crazy as well. And if we go back to the Pharrell and Kanye joint, just based off the word influence, they both had major influence on a lot.
Starting point is 01:13:09 But I feel like I'm going to have to say Kanye in terms of influencing. Oh, we're going back to the other one. Yeah, I just came back to him. I just wanted to make sure. You're going back. No, no, hold on, hold on, hold on. The point of me going back is to take the guy there. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:13:22 We were going to go back regardless. Yeah, but go ahead. You're good. It was Kanye or Pharrell. What happened? What are you saying now? Yeah, I mean, that's probably the hardest fucking question. I love both of them.
Starting point is 01:13:31 Made records with both of them. In terms of influence of not only certain rappers and production, I would go with Kanye. Pharrell, mostly production. And by the way, some of Pharrell's verses are some of the hardest fucking verses in hip hop. Make a mention to that,
Starting point is 01:13:49 by the way, because like, you do it every now and then, he just want to keep taking shots. It's all good, fuck it. You confuse everybody.
Starting point is 01:13:56 Take a shot for no goddamn reason. He confuses everybody. I think these are moments where it's like, you talk about some shit that not a lot of people are talking about That nigga for real got some verses in this hip hop game He got some hard ass verses
Starting point is 01:14:10 Like he a gangster rapper on some shit 100% so I would say On that one I would go with Kanye Analog or digital Analog man Analog I gotta go with analog Before he Don't
Starting point is 01:14:25 You better relax You can't talk You better relax I know where you're going Let's go there Say why Why analog Before he says it
Starting point is 01:14:33 Cause his You're not wrong I'm not even gonna make eye contact You're not wrong But his version of it Why analog is weird Not weird But it's
Starting point is 01:14:40 Not weird It's not weird It's not weird It's not weird It's just not Analog Digital is trying to emulate What analog does Not weird, but it's not weird. What the fuck is weird? It's not weird. It's not weird. It's not weird. It's just not analog-y. Why'd you pick analog? Digital is trying to emulate what analog does.
Starting point is 01:14:49 Analogs is ones and twos. There's electricity flowing through analog, and there's separation. Now, not to say that digital is trying to do that, but it has not done that yet. It hasn't done that yet. You cannot emulate analog. There's nothing you can do. There's circuitry. There's energy.
Starting point is 01:15:04 It picks up the energy in the fucking room. Digital doesn't do that. No eye contact. You were going to say that? Get the fuck out of here. No. What I was going to say was, yes, it's actually, he said it. You was not going to say the electricity of the monologue 2.570 nanometers.
Starting point is 01:15:23 He said it in a ludicrous way. I'm going to say it in a normie way. Of course. What I'm trying to say is when you listen to music in the 90s where we couldn't send an email.
Starting point is 01:15:36 That's different, man. We had to be in a two-inch rail. We had the little... Two-inch rail is everything. We had little people as a rail. It's legit what you're saying. As a rail.
Starting point is 01:15:44 We had little people as a rail. And we what you're saying As a rail That's true We had little people as a rail And we would bring them To Sound on Sound To Right Track Studio And Ludo couldn't send me his verse Right He had to be in the same exact studio
Starting point is 01:15:54 With me That's why analog is the shit It's because I can 100% He's saying the person to person Which is true Person to person
Starting point is 01:16:02 Is the best The reason why you listen You look at some of these dudes' records, you're like, you could tell he was in Utah. And this nigga was in- Why you got to put Utah under the weather? People in Utah right now are like, what the fuck? What did we do? One nigga was in Utah, and the other nigga was in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan?
Starting point is 01:16:22 With Borak. With Borak. With Borak. And this nigga's- With Sasha Mary. And this nigga's with a cow and bells and shit. You can hear the bells. The cows and the bells. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:31 You're like, this is too fucking fucked up. I knew I would have fun when I came here. I didn't know I'd have this much goddamn fun. Y'all killing me. You got fast as this nigga.
Starting point is 01:16:40 No, but what I'm saying is, analog, that's the reason why analog, I just want to help iterate what he was just saying. No, you're not iterating anything he said. You're giving your point, which is valid, 100% valid. My point is fire. Mad valid.
Starting point is 01:16:54 My point is fire. But I'm saying this, it has nothing to do with what he said. No, but analog, that's the reason why I felt like you picked analog is because we had to be there. Like, Premier sending you a beat is totally different from Premier making that beat in your face. For sure, for sure. Absolutely. That's analog.
Starting point is 01:17:08 Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's the reason why I felt like you picked it. Part of the reason. You picked his hair. Part of the reason. By the way, Ludacris is the only nigga to come here and pick his hair and drink champagne.
Starting point is 01:17:19 Let's make some noise for that. Hey! Thank you. Jamie's sitting around, and Jamie was like, listen, Jamie's our bartender. And Jamie said, you know what? I've been in Atlanta long enough.
Starting point is 01:17:28 I can do this. She's like, I'm a hair tender, too. She said, I could be a hair tender, too. And guess what? What do we have? Your MTV raps or Rap City? I'm going to say Rap City because, man, did y'all see them Ludacris in the booth? Rap City.
Starting point is 01:17:44 Oh, we got it. Come on, bro. We got it. We got you. I'm going to go with Rap City, bro. Let's did y'all see them ludicrous in the booth, Rap City? Oh, we got it. Come on, bro. We got it. We got you. I'm going to go with Rap City, bro. Let's see if I can pull it up. This nigga been doing our interview the whole time.
Starting point is 01:17:51 You got it? You got it? Yeah, it's in the group chat. Remember, I was 18. I was on radio, man. Come on, man. I can hand bing bong. You got it?
Starting point is 01:17:59 It's in the group chat. Go ahead. Go ahead, Dream Channel Sports. Let's do it with the flow. I see some fools ain't smart because they going against me. I've been rapping since Tyson punched him in the mouth. On a whole nother level, chat. Go ahead. Go ahead, Dream Channel Sports. Six digits, I'll rip your eye out and play foosball with it. Girls see me, they holla and holla hard. So much money, I'm trying to buy college par. Just play.
Starting point is 01:18:29 I don't need payola. As long as my eyes stay redder than crayon Crayolas. Woo! Yeah! Let me ask you something. We're going to keep going with QuickTime, but have you ever felt... That shit ain't quick. Ain't nothing quick about QuickTime.
Starting point is 01:18:44 No, it's slow time with all the slimes. We've been here for the last hour doing Quick Time. Y'all need to change the name of that shit. Yeah. For sure. It's slow time with all the slimes. But have you ever felt that you never got your just due as a lyricist? Have you ever felt that way?
Starting point is 01:18:57 I hear people say that, and to a degree, but when I said those moments like me winning Best Rap Album for, you know what I mean, which doesn't happen often, you can. I feel like there's a certain amount of people that do feel that way. And then I feel like the real Luda fans, they, you know, they do feel like I get my gesture. You could win your best rap album, but, you know, like being the lyricist, like the Nas is in this. Have you ever felt that you didn't get that from that world, like the pure, purest hip hop side? To a degree but i guess what i'm saying is as time passes and these things are standing the test of time and people are going back and listening to shit and the repetition of it they're starting to say wow like so there
Starting point is 01:19:35 have been times where people like oh he don't get the the lyrical recognition he deserved but these things keep circulating and getting in people's faces and all the shit different shit that i did and so when people are reminded of that, then it kind of like, it makes them remember what the fuck that we got going on and what we've done in the past and the whole, you know, the catalog, the history, everything. Because you've always been a pure lyricist as far as I'm concerned. Thank you, man. And that's what I set out to do, for sure.
Starting point is 01:20:01 100%. And again, we're going to get back into quick time, slow time. But who were your inspirations lyricist wise? Man, I had so many, but I think definitely like Redman. I said LL Cool J made me want to rap. Definitely Outkast. I definitely want to say Common Sense is another motherfucker that I love. That first Common Sense album was out of control.
Starting point is 01:20:25 Absolutely. Yeah, so that's just to name a few. Yeah. Okay. That was the one that shaped and molded me. That's five. The next one. Oh, you don't got no quick time with slime.
Starting point is 01:20:34 Today, it's just me and my phone, huh? I get it. I get it. It's okay. It's okay with me. It's okay. I told you a long time ago. There we go. Cash money you a long time ago. Whatever we at.
Starting point is 01:20:46 Cash, money, or no limit? Damn. Fuck y'all. Cheers. Movements right there. They are. Shit. You want to say anything about them?
Starting point is 01:21:00 I mean, shit. I'll be talking for days about the impact that they made, man. I've never been at a loss for words because there's so much I want to say, but this will be the first time. There's so much I want to say about Cat. That's a whole other drink chance. We're going to need a whole other hour. But just giving them praises on what they did,
Starting point is 01:21:16 from an independent standpoint to independent labels that changed the whole fucking music industry, period. And for the South in general, changed the whole landscape of the, period. And for the South in general, like, changed the whole landscape of the industry. Whole landscape of the industry. And I know I already took my shot. I might be the only nigga to do this, answer the question after, but...
Starting point is 01:21:32 Let's go. Because of the longevity, I'm going to go with Cash Money. But I'm cool. I already took the goddamn shot. We good. Right, right. You gave them both props and then... Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:41 I'm just being real. Just being truthful. Eve or Missy? Eve or Missy. Well, only because earlier y'all heard me say there's definitely some Missy influence. Missy has had me on like four records. Just from a standpoint of working more with Missy, because Eve has done some incredible things, I'm going to go with Missy on this one.
Starting point is 01:22:05 Yo Gotti or Juicy J? Yo Gotti or Juicy J? Why did y'all put those two together? Just because they're Colombian Dominican over there. Yeah, they don't even know why they put it together.
Starting point is 01:22:17 Just because they're both from Memphis? That's crazy, bro. I'm like, and they don't even know why because from Memphis. I didn't see the correlation. See, you said that. Man, I love Yo Gotti. I think what that motherfucker is doing't even know why because from Memphis. I didn't see the correlation. See, you said that.
Starting point is 01:22:25 Man, I love Yo Gotti. I think what that motherfucker is doing with his label is amazing, man. He need to give more. Yo Gotti's one of the best artist CEOs there. One of the best artist CEOs, but Juicy J was a part of my history and records that we've done together. One of my favorite verses of all time is the this bitch, that hoe with Project Pat. And because of our history, I'm going to go with Juicy J. Not Project Pat, man.
Starting point is 01:22:47 Yeah, Juicy J. Before we go on to the next question, is that something that I received, being an artist, CEO? Sometimes an opportunity presents itself. It presents itself for the crew. It presents itself for an individual. It presents itself for the crew, it presents itself for the individual, it presents itself for me. And it's always been kind of like turmoil because always when I've had the opportunity, it's always leaned towards me as the artist to do that. Is that something that you ever endured?
Starting point is 01:23:22 I think everybody that's a boss endures that. Think about it. No matter where you're at, you've got a job. whoever your boss is, how many times have you criticized your boss? Some bosses deserve to be criticized for the wrong shit, but a lot of them are criticized because they're just trying to do what's best for the fucking company. Company, in fact. At the end of the day, no matter what I did, I guarantee you, I gave everybody opportunity. I always stood on business. Nobody can say any of that shit. When you talk about facts and doing the best that I could for every single person, fighting that Def Jam to get marketing budgets and everything right, there was a time we had
Starting point is 01:23:54 15 different fucking artists. And so I'm getting pulled left and right doing everything. Get on niggas' mixtapes when they ask me to do that. I'm charging $250,000 a fucking verse at this time. Of course I'm going to do this shit for free. Mix tapes, whatever you need, what you need here, doing everything. So, yes, I'm going to get criticized. But like I said earlier, I'm okay with taking these jabs.
Starting point is 01:24:14 You know what I mean? That's what we do as bosses. You're going to get criticized. That comes with the fucking territory. You know what I mean? But listen, I can take it. I'm here. I'm good.
Starting point is 01:24:23 Don't worry about it. But when I decide to jab back, just don't get back. That's that Virgo shit right there. Go ahead. Wu-Tang or NWA? Man, y'all motherfuckers, man. This is my favorite question of all time. I don't even think that question should be
Starting point is 01:24:38 set up that way. Y'all ask everybody this shit? Yeah, actually, that one, yes. Yes, I actually love this. And I never agree with that setup, to be honest. I don't either, but that's such a good-ass question. That's such a good question. There's no way I could choose between those two. Like, two different codes that, like, did the impact that both of them had.
Starting point is 01:24:58 And they're generationally different, too, as well. That is correct. That impact is out of this world. We're almost done. I'll see just how many goddamn shots I done took just letting y'all know. Yes.
Starting point is 01:25:10 Niggas is out here stacking them up. Biz Marquis or ODB? That's the most random fucking matchup in the world. Not really. They're very similar
Starting point is 01:25:20 if you think about it. I thought about it and I don't think that they're similar. Love Biz Marquis. I'm going it and I don't think that they're similar. Love Biz Markie. I'm going to go with ODB on that one. You ever met ODB?
Starting point is 01:25:31 Hell yeah. I did a record for ODB. Right. ODB was wild. Wild as fuck. I don't think it didn't get wilder. 100%.
Starting point is 01:25:39 ODB definitely digged up his nose and tried to give me a five. I was like, wait a minute. Say it again. Say it again. He went like this. What's up, Noah? Damn, nigga. ODB? I think that nigga tried and tried to give me a five. I was like, wait a minute. Wait, wait, wait. Say it again. Say it again. He went like this.
Starting point is 01:25:45 I'm like, what's up, Noah? He's like, damn, nigga. ODB? Yeah. I think that nigga tried to do the same thing to me. Hey, but Poo Parky had picking boogers. No, he had a song about picking boogers. He had a song.
Starting point is 01:25:54 I'm saying. He never picked his booger in front of me. That's what I'm trying to say. They're similar people. ODB did it. I was like, what's up, nigga? What up? Wow.
Starting point is 01:26:00 I was like, damn, nigga. Hold up. Wow. Rest in peace. Love him. Damn. All him. Damn. All right, Death Row or Bad Boy? Death Row or Bad Boy.
Starting point is 01:26:10 Damn, that's another hard one, man. Those catalogs. But for me personally, I was a definitely notorious B.I.G. and everything Bad Boy fan, but it's something about Dre's production and the consistency of it with all of those artists and the sonics of what Death Row did that I have to give the edge to Death Row based on the production of Dr. Motherfucking Dre. Dre's sonics was everything for Dr. Dre. And so that's a hard one because there were different. There was the Hitman. You got a bunch of different production.
Starting point is 01:26:43 Hitman. Oh, Bad Boy. Come on. Okay. But what I'm saying is in terms of Death row that was pretty much all over dr dre's envelope right so in terms of what he did production wise and beat wise i think that shit's unmatched why dave chapelle or martin lawrence ah god damn love both of these guys man dave chapelle or martin lawrence shit shit shit are we talking stand up are we talking Goddamn. Love both of these guys, man. Dave Chappelle or Martin Lawrence.
Starting point is 01:27:05 Shit, shit, shit. Are we talking stand-up? Are we talking... Are we talking about their television shit? We talking about everything? Whatever the fuck. Dave Chappelle, man. Fuck.
Starting point is 01:27:17 I'm going to tell you. I'll take a shot. I'm going to take a shot. Solo. John G. I grew up on the comedians, man. Yes. We're almost done. on the comedians, man. Yes. Oof.
Starting point is 01:27:26 We're almost done. It's all good, bro. I could take 50 more of these motherfuckers. Oh, we got 50 more of you. Let's go. No, no.
Starting point is 01:27:34 Yeah, yeah, for sure. Oh, we actually got someone threw in another one in this one. Chyla said to ask him that? What? I got...
Starting point is 01:27:42 Go with it. But who's Chyla? You mean Chaka. Yeah. This guy's Chaka? You mean Chaka. Yeah. This guy says Chaka. He texted me Chaka. Chaka's my... That's literally my aunt's name.
Starting point is 01:27:52 Chaka. Finish Quickie Town Slime and I'll bring it. You about to say Chaka or Jeff? What the fuck you about to do? That's fucked up if you about to do that. He brought in a question.
Starting point is 01:28:00 He said that Chaka, but he said Chala. Chala's my aunt's name. She's a Cuban old lady, man. That's not Chaka, but he said Chala. Chala's my aunt's name. She's a Cuban old lady, man. That's not Chaka, bro. Podcast or radio? I came from radio, man. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:28:11 I came from radio. No disrespect to Drink Champs and y'all little podcasters. Y'all got it right here. God damn! That was fun. Hell yeah. I like that.
Starting point is 01:28:26 You know when somebody Say little They hating like a motherfucker Yeah yeah Shout out to the podcast Out here That's burglar shit right there Right for sure Loyal
Starting point is 01:28:32 Oh no no hold up We're going to hold that Because we got more questions That came after this Okay So Shaka asked Cameron verse Or Sierra
Starting point is 01:28:41 O verse I know what he mean Yeah yeah yeah I was on What means the world To me That remix I was on Cameron's remix verse or Sierra O verse? I know what he mean. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was on What Means the World to Me. That remix. I was on Cameron's remix. He's talking about the Sierra verse. If I had to choose between those, I gotta go with that Sierra verse.
Starting point is 01:28:55 Something style, get wild, old school's coming down in a different color. Whip, whip, whip. Picture perfect. You might want to take a flick, flick, flick, flick, flick. Call up Jazzy. Tell him pop. That shit right there, boy. Out of here gotta go with that that's what means the world to me versus stupid too but you recently bigged up cameron absolutely that was that on complex yeah the fire rock with that song right there that verse he got on there one of my favorite verses in hip-hop oh that was yeah that was ill. That verse is crazy. That was so dope. You know, a person of your stature to say things like that, it's so dope.
Starting point is 01:29:31 It makes you so much of a doper person to give your flowers to someone else. And he's just being honest. That's the thing. He's being honest. That's one of my favorite fucking verses. Go back and listen to that verse. Now, the way you broke it down, I'm like, goddamn, that verse is hard. And I'm glad that I did that because that verse will go over a lot of people's heads.
Starting point is 01:29:49 He killed that shit. And shout out to Cam and Mase killing it. Shout out to Cam and Mase. Goddamn it. Shout out to Cam and Mase, man. All right, we got two more, actually. It's all good. Future or 21 Savage?
Starting point is 01:30:03 Damn, that's a hard one too man Both of these motherfuckers man Yeah Atlanta Niggas can't choose Atlanta we stick together We drinking? Yeah they stick together All good Alright now we do the last one
Starting point is 01:30:18 You know the last one This is the only time I feel like It's not a trick question. It's never been a trick question. It's never been a trick question. Is loyalty or respect? Oh, man. I heard somebody say something real profound about that before.
Starting point is 01:30:37 Loyalty and respect. Because if you respect somebody, loyalty and respect. Shit. I'm going to have to go with respect, man. As crazy as it sounds, because most people would say loyalty, but you got to really go to the definition of loyalty and the real definition of respect.
Starting point is 01:30:53 Because the shit that me and T.I. went through, there was no loyalty, but there was respect. That's real. And so everything that we talked about in this industry, there are certain people that I thought was loyal to me and I thought I was loyal to them and continue to stay loyal to them, but obviously they weren't loyal to me.
Starting point is 01:31:11 And there is no more respect. So it's just, I'm going to have to go with respect over loyalty, believe it or not. That was hard. Yeah. Real. And I'm going to take the shot. Any fucking way.
Starting point is 01:31:22 Hold on. Good, good, good. That's a shot. Let me just ask you. Yep. Did the bitch ever move? Let me wipe the sweat from my forehead on that one. What is the inspiration behind her not moving?
Starting point is 01:31:40 Is my afro good? Is my afro good? We wanted this bitch to move, bitch. Yeah. Did she ever move? That bitch never moved, bro. She never moved. Never moved.
Starting point is 01:31:49 Never. And I'm taking a shot. Let's go. And me living from the south for 16 years, I understand that a bitch. Bitches don't move up north either, man. No, no, no, no. I understand that a bitch can be a guy or a woman. That's how y'all talk out here. And everything in between. Oh, hell yeah. A hoe can be a guy or a woman. Come on north either, man. No, no, no, no. I understand that a bitch could be a guy or a woman. That's how y'all talk out here.
Starting point is 01:32:06 And everything in between. Oh, hell yeah. A hoe could be a guy or a woman. Come on, man. Yeah, yeah, I know. Bitches and hoes. Y'all different out here. Y'all different out here.
Starting point is 01:32:12 So the bitch never move. Wait, y'all don't have that up there either? No. We're in the South. That's what I'm saying. And guess what? You're a comedian. How do you do this shit with this guy?
Starting point is 01:32:22 That's why he has my face. But let's just be clear. You've been different. All these years, you asked that bitch to move. I did. And that motherfucker never moved. I'm going to be honest. I don't want her to move.
Starting point is 01:32:34 That shit is a fucking movement. As long as she don't move, people are going to continue to keep telling her to fucking move. Move, bitch. Yeah, the moment she moves, they might stop. We don't want her to go nowhere. She ain't going to sing the song anymore. Right. Come on, man.
Starting point is 01:32:44 That bitch need to stay in her place. Let's take a shot for not moving. The statue of liberty. Y'all didn't even watch me. I took my shot already. Give me another one. Jamie, Jamie, Jamie. Goddamn.
Starting point is 01:32:51 Hold on. All right. Take the thing. All right. Come on. All right. Come on. All good.
Starting point is 01:32:54 How the fuck did you find that shot for him? Jamie double up on me. This motherfucker got reserved shots on him. Jamie double. Okay. An extra clip of shots and shit over there. So she never moved. Nah, she never moved, bro.
Starting point is 01:33:06 But that is the most... I don't want to say... Like, it's not an angry song, but like... If you need to pump yourself up... That started mosh pits, let's be honest. It was a good... It still does. It's a mosh pit starter.
Starting point is 01:33:24 We did this shit last night, I'm telling you. We got a show it still does it's a mosh pit last night i'm telling you we got a show in miami didn't i we had one in tampa last night that motherfucking song bro i don't even have to say shit you just hold the mic out to the crowd how is that fair if i'm the one getting paid and the crowd is the one that paid and these motherfuckers are saying all i do is stand there that's it that's a beautiful thing. I just stand there. That is the greatest record of all time. Greatest record of all time. Greatest record of all time. Okay, KLC made this, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:33:51 Yep. Baton Rouge. It's Beats by the Pound, right? He live in Baton Rouge. Yeah. I didn't know that. Beats by the Pound. I'm hip hop too.
Starting point is 01:33:58 I don't know if you know that. Wow. I did not know that. I ain't Google that or nothing. I bet you did Google that. Oh, because it was front on me. I didn't Google that. I ain't Googled that or nothing. I bet you did Google that. Oh, because it was front of me. I didn't Google that, bro. Nah, he had that one under his belt.
Starting point is 01:34:12 Yeah, he had that one. No, no, no. Because I couldn't get a chaos. Nah, that's amazing. What? You tried to get one? Oh, because you wanted one at that time? Yes, motherfucker.
Starting point is 01:34:19 After that. After that? No, I'm prior before. Nah, you was early on it. You was early on all those joints. I'm going to be honest. Cash, money, and no limit was the hardest people to get at, at one point. Yeah, 100%.
Starting point is 01:34:35 Both of them. It was no limit first. And then Master P, he had one line. I'm going to be honest. What? People who really know this, it was one line to no limit records,
Starting point is 01:34:51 and the same person would answer the phone, they'd be like, hello, they'd be like, yeah, we're going to connect you, and it'd be the same dude answering the phone like,
Starting point is 01:34:59 yeah, Master P's going to come up. Like, nigga, I know your voice is sick. I got 30,000 for juvenile care. Can I do that? They wouldn't fuck with me. So, but I'm going to be honest.
Starting point is 01:35:14 When cash money came, they were, they were different. Yeah. 100%. Man, listen, I was at the radio station at this time. It was 100%. Man, listen, I was at the radio station at this time.
Starting point is 01:35:27 It was unheard of, bro, to be an independent company. And they had Reeboks and Jabobs. And shit was getting played on the radio. Independent, yeah. And the units, they moved,
Starting point is 01:35:37 like you were saying, just in Texas and Louisiana alone. They didn't need nobody else. They didn't need them. Same thing with No Limit. Right. I'm saying,
Starting point is 01:35:46 y'all saying, you're not saying that that No Limit didn't have that as well't need them. Same thing with No Limit. I'm saying, y'all saying, you're not saying that No Limit didn't have that as well. I just said same with No Limit. No, no, you're saying, but he, I mean, because No Limit was doing the same thing. I think No Limit started it. But what I'm trying to say was, I guess they were ready for No Limit. They weren't ready for Cash Money.
Starting point is 01:36:02 Like, Cash Money was a totally different type of thing like puerto ricans put me on the cash money and that means that means that there's no puerto rican with gold fronts in their mouth i know a lot of them now no then because he was in he was it was out here what the i was in new york there was no port of like we had frames you're talking about people in new york telling you about Cash Money? No, I'm talking about Cash Money telling me about Cash Money. I'm talking about when I went to...
Starting point is 01:36:30 Actually, this is how I discovered Cash Money. Okay, let me just... There was a person on our label called Skullduggery. Skullduggery was No Limit Records. Skullduggery was on Penalty. Yes, he was on Penalty. We went to see Skulldug. We were with the intentions to meet Mia X. To meet Silk the Shocker.
Starting point is 01:36:50 She's so dope. To meet C-Murda. To meet these guys. We had no luck. They were so... It was a different type of thing. That's the first time I seen mausoleums. The funeral. What's that shit time I seen mausoleums, the funeral,
Starting point is 01:37:07 what's that shit called? The graveyards? Yeah, yeah. These motherfuckers out there. Boom. Yeah, they couldn't put it underground, yeah. Sat there, and this Puerto Rican girl, she had gold fronts in her mouth. You think that's novel? Oh, let me finish.
Starting point is 01:37:24 He messes with you all the time. Yeah, he does. You're used to it. It's beautiful. And she said to me, you know, no limit is one thing, but you need to get on that cash, man. And I went and that's how I
Starting point is 01:37:39 discovered, you want her on B-Hall. And I went juvenile record and I went to Angie Martinez' show, and I kept singing that shit. And that's how Jay-Z got on Juvenile's record. And Juvenile admitted it. But you're saying because of you? Of course it's because of me.
Starting point is 01:37:57 No, I didn't know this. To be honest with you. Of course it's because of me. Of course! Juvenile admitted it! Hold up, hold up. Juvenile said that baby did not know who Jay-Z was! I want that local.
Starting point is 01:38:10 Okay. We've never had this story legitimately said. What are you talking about? Juvenile co-signed it. What the fuck are you talking about? No, you've never said this story fully through. Oh! Yeah, high remix.
Starting point is 01:38:19 No, no, how you put him on to him. You've never said this story fully through. Did I put Jay-Z on? Yeah. No, no, no, no, no. Jay-Z got You never said this story fully through. Did I put Jay-Z on? Yeah. No, no, no, no, no. Jay-Z got put on to them. I kind of went too far with that part. I kind of went too far with that part.
Starting point is 01:38:33 But what I'm saying is- Come on, guy. No, what I'm saying is I went to New Orleans to meet No Limit. Right. This Puerto Rican girl told me about cash money, and that's how I got put on to cash money. And the moral of the story is? The moral of the story is I was the first
Starting point is 01:38:52 New York person to accept the South. David Banner would say it. Ludacris should say it. David Banner should say it. I was the first. Ludacris should say it. I should say it right now.
Starting point is 01:39:04 Ludacris, will you sign this contract? I'm going to take a shot. Take a shot. Let me tell you something. I'm just fucking with you, right? Let me tell you something.
Starting point is 01:39:11 I got to take a shot. Definitely. You can feel it in his heart. Even if it's not true, it's true because he said it. It's got to be true. No, no, no. It's true.
Starting point is 01:39:19 It's true. It don't even matter, bro. No, no. Look at this discography. Yeah. Lil Wayne's first feature with a New York person. Skullduggery. Skullduggery.
Starting point is 01:39:30 Skullduggery. Lil Wayne's first feature with a New York artist. No, it's fine. It's who? Noriega. Okay. Thanks. Thanks, Dominicans in the background.
Starting point is 01:39:41 I'm going to keep going. You was on Shona Remix. Shonaverse. He was on Shona Remix. Shana Verse. I keep going. Facts. Oh, 3-6 Mafia. Okay. No, it's facts.
Starting point is 01:39:50 No, it's facts. Are we good then? This is why we have drink champs. Okay, okay. It's actually why we have drink champs. Because I was the first New York Miami people. I was the first New York nigga coming to the South, and I was like, okay, these niggas just got an accent. Whoa, whoa, whoa,
Starting point is 01:40:05 whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Starting point is 01:40:07 whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Starting point is 01:40:08 whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Starting point is 01:40:08 whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Starting point is 01:40:09 whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Starting point is 01:40:09 whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Starting point is 01:40:09 whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Starting point is 01:40:09 whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Starting point is 01:40:10 whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Starting point is 01:40:10 whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Starting point is 01:40:10 whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Starting point is 01:40:15 whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Starting point is 01:40:16 whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, To this day Somebody I'll say something They'll be like You from New York I'm in Dubai Drinking Habigi Habigi
Starting point is 01:40:33 Yep Guys The biggest real estate guy In the world Turns to me and says You're from New York Of course I'm from New York
Starting point is 01:40:44 My accent is not going nowhere But Let's Of course. I'm from New York. My accent is not going nowhere. But let's reiterate to what I'm saying. Let's get back to make it make sense. I was the first person to accept the South from Juvenile to Lil Wayne to people. I actually was the first person to throw money from New York in a strip club. That was corny to us. Gentleman's Club, in a strip club. That was corny to us. Gentleman's club, player's club, all that shit was corny to us.
Starting point is 01:41:10 That was whack to us. You threw the money. Let's go. That was whack to us. Let me just tell you something. It was a rule in New York. You don't take a shit in a strip club. That was a rule? You don't eat in a strip club.
Starting point is 01:41:22 I still don't like that rule. And you don't get lap dances. And you don't get lap dances in the strip club. New York was militant motherfuckers. I moved to Miami. I broke all three of those rules in the first three days. You ate shit and ate. In the first three days.
Starting point is 01:41:36 I ate. I shitted. And you threw money. And I threw motherfucking money. Sorry, I'm so sorry. Okay. Toronto? All right. So the bitch never moved. You threw money. And I threw motherfucking money. Sorry, I'm so sorry. Okay. Toronto?
Starting point is 01:41:47 All right. So the bitch never moved. We established that. Let's talk about Moneymaker with Pharrell. Ooh, yeah. Moneymaker. That's a strip club. That's a strip club. And I got a Grammy for that, too.
Starting point is 01:41:59 Just the single. But yeah, no. Yeah, yeah. In the same year. You got strip club Grammys. Yeah, nah, I'm only saying that
Starting point is 01:42:06 because like, out of all those years I was losing, that year, I racked up on the fucking thing. God damn it. But nah,
Starting point is 01:42:11 again, Pharrell, man, Moneymaker, that shit right there went number one on the Billboard charts. It's still,
Starting point is 01:42:17 you know, extremely relevant to this day. And man, I'm just thankful for Pharrell for giving me so many fucking hits
Starting point is 01:42:23 and us working together. And now I'm feeling bad that I chose Kanye over my brother Pharrell. God damn. You want to reverse the shot? Wait, hold on. I kind of want some Grammys with Kanye, too. Just be clear. You're not getting no more Louis exclusive.
Starting point is 01:42:36 I know, right? It's a wrap. God damn. I'm fucking with you. No, I know. I'm fucking with you. Let's go. No, but, Doc, hold on.
Starting point is 01:42:43 Let's take a shot for it. Fuck it. We're taking a shot for something? I'm over here drinking my drink. I don't even need the shot. Give us another shot. Let's go. Nah, but Dak, hold on, let's take a shot for it. Fuck it. We're taking a shot for something? I'm over here drinking my drink. I don't even need the shot. Give him another shot. Oh shit, I got it.
Starting point is 01:42:50 He got it. For sure. Cheers, y'all. Cheers, man. What you drinking over there, bro? You want some of this? Try it here. I don't mix, my brother.
Starting point is 01:42:57 Not right now. That was a 20-year-old Luda. I'm drinking the same shit all night. Fuck that. Yo, thank you, Luda, for being black black. Let me tell you something.
Starting point is 01:43:07 100%. So many people come on this show, and they'll mix these drinks. And I don't respect that. Fuck that. I'm going to stick to what the fuck I'm doing. 20 days sober, and then this motherfucker is here. Let's give a round of applause for Mario. 20 days sober.
Starting point is 01:43:23 He's being funny. I'm not being funny. I'm not being funny. I got more. Okay. How low? Yeah, how low can you go? How low? Hold on, can you say it one more time?
Starting point is 01:43:34 No. T-Minus out of Toronto. He works with J. Cole a lot now. He produced that How Low. And at that stage in my career, to make a statement with a new producer and come out with a fucking hit, it means something. Because you
Starting point is 01:43:47 constantly have to prove yourself over and over again. So motherfuckers is like, okay, if you ain't got a Pharrell beat or if you ain't got a Kanye beat or if you ain't got a Timbaland beat and it just come out the gate like that, it meant everything. And that shit went to the top of the charts too. So that was a moment. And to this day, the women
Starting point is 01:44:03 go low whenever we goddamn perform. And we like to see it. It's a beautiful thing. For real, for real. I think we should make some noise for that. Why not? Why not? Why are you picking
Starting point is 01:44:16 these particular records? I'm curious. I'm just fucking with you. He's a very particular guy with these records. And now I want to go, because we talked about fantasy earlier. The American West with Dan Flores is the latest show

Starting point is 01:44:54 and best-selling author and meat-eater founder Stephen Rinella. I'll correct my kids now and then where they'll say, when cave people were here. And I'll say, it seems like the Ice Age people that were here didn't have a real affinity for caves. So join me starting Tuesday, May 6th, where we'll delve into stories of the West and come to understand how it helps inform the ways in which we experience the region today. Listen to the American West with Dan Flores on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcastss, or wherever you get your podcasts. And it's going to take us to heal us. It's Mental Health Awareness Month, and on a recent episode of Just Heal with Dr. J,
Starting point is 01:45:35 the incomparable Taraji P. I laugh, you know, I love jokes.
Starting point is 01:46:01 I love funny.
Starting point is 01:46:30 I know a lot of cops, and they get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your gun? Sometimes the answer is yes. But there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always be no. Across the country, cops called this taser the revolution. But not everyone was convinced it was that simple. Cops believed everything that taser told them. From Lava for Good and the team that brought you Bone Valley comes a story about what happened when a multibillion-dollar company dedicated itself to one visionary mission.
Starting point is 01:47:05 This is Absolute Season 1, Taser Incorporated. I get right back there and it's bad. It's really, really, really bad. Listen to new episodes of Absolute Season 1, Taser Incorporated on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 01:47:40 But here's where I want to go. Making the record. Is this a record that you said to yourself, this is going to break me out into the mainstream, or this is a record I'm just making for the strip club? No, it's crazy you ask that, because Organized Noise did the flip side of that, which was Game Got Switched. And so it was between What's Your Fantasy and Game Got Switched.
Starting point is 01:48:03 And it was hard for me to choose, but I just felt like What's Your Fantasy didn't sound like anything that was out at that time. We didn't know where you was from. Yeah, so I rolled the dice, man. We thought you was from Alaska. Oh, shit. It's close to Atlanta. No, it didn't.
Starting point is 01:48:14 No, no, I'm just saying, you sounded so everywhere. I appreciate that. I don't want to use the word generic, but you sounded like you was from New York because of the lyrics, but then you was from Atlanta
Starting point is 01:48:24 because of the vernacular, and then you was from Atlanta because of the vernacular. And then you was from kind of like the West Coast because you was making it all count together. But then you was from everywhere. The vernacular. I like that. I like that. He said you were an alien. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:48:37 It was like you was an alien. Thank you, man. No, it comes to time. And that's dope. Yeah, it comes to time in every artist's life where you got to, it's risk, risk. Like, you got to just put everything on the fucking line. And that was that moment for me, and that record changed my fucking life, man. Fantasy.
Starting point is 01:48:50 Yeah, and we were this close to choosing Game Guy Switch, which is still on back for the first time album. But that particular song right there set it off. And like we talked about earlier, after that was fucking Throw Them Bowls, and the rest is history. Those two records together just set the tone. And then, you know, the sophomore jinx came around. You got to go to word of mouth, and we passed that test like it ain't nothing. Okay, sorry, sorry, sorry. Go on, go on.
Starting point is 01:49:12 Because back for the first time, why'd you even pick that? The name? For the first time. Because I had already put the album out independently to a degree, so I did the shit on my own. So when we signed with Def Jam, we kind of repackaged it we took a couple songs off and added the pharrell that throw them bows in like two other songs so basically i was back for the first time all right back for the people that knew the old record
Starting point is 01:49:34 and new time for all the new individuals around the world that's just hearing it god damn makes a nice yeah yeah yeah word of this um word of mouth word of mouth yeah so man Fucking back for the first time Three times platinum Word of mouth Almost four times platinum Chicken and beer Three times Just the list goes on and on
Starting point is 01:49:52 But word of mouth Is the biggest selling record Of all of my albums And I think we got Nine or ten at this point I damn near lost count But the word of mouth shit Move Bitch was on there
Starting point is 01:50:02 And we just spoke about that That's a movement It's dirty Dirty with it Yeah The word of mouth shit, Move Bitch was on there, and we just spoke about that. That's a movement. It's dirty. Dirty with it. Yeah. Man. Yo, this is beautiful, man.
Starting point is 01:50:12 It is, man. Shit. I'm feeling great. If I didn't have a show to go to, I'd stay here all goddamn night. Yeah, yeah. No, no. We could stay here all day. Next time, I ain't going to have shit after. I got you covered.
Starting point is 01:50:21 No, but it's so beautiful because you deserve these flowers. Thank you, bro. You earned these flowers. More than deserve them. Yes. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:50:33 And your story has to be told because so many people think that it starts from being a drug dealer. It starts from being a street dude. It starts from being a person that shoots somebody or a person or whatever. But you took the opportunity to just work at a radio station. See exactly where you want to be and apply that.
Starting point is 01:51:00 100, yep. And a lot of people need to understand that. They need to understand that. They need to understand because that's like, we got three fucking occupations in the hood. Drug dealer,
Starting point is 01:51:11 basketball player, rapper. Rapper, yep. But what I'm trying to say is our industry has to be saluted more. We just recently seen each other, you said, in Leo Combs.
Starting point is 01:51:27 Hell yeah. Leo Combs is one of the best CEOs who's ever held me down. There's people who have their say about Leo. I'm not one of them. I see Leo's life and my life being
Starting point is 01:51:47 all positivity. How's Lior's life reflected you? He was the CEO, like you said, at the same time. We were both artists at the same time. In terms of how he executed, I thought he was one of the best to ever do it. Definitely. His strategy,
Starting point is 01:52:03 him putting together the team that he put together, how they maneuvered the industry, just very intelligent. Right. In a very intelligent way. And, that was definitely
Starting point is 01:52:14 my experience. I loved what he did in terms of Def Jam and the history of Def Jam and the legacy of Def Jam. Shit was pretty amazing. Hell yeah. It's a moment in time.
Starting point is 01:52:24 I respect the shit out of Leo Collins. It's a moment in time. I respect the shit out of Leo Collins. What's the noise? Boom, okay. You got your name and shit, Chris? Do they, you want me to? You can ask me. You can ask me.
Starting point is 01:52:34 You can ask your- No, I'm talking about for camera. Do one of them have to ask me that question? Yeah, yeah, yeah. If the mic ain't gonna ask you, why do you ask me what's your name? No, we're not good. We're idiots.
Starting point is 01:52:42 Nah, that's a way. Yeah, yeah. I got you. The people in the back could ask. Oh, they can. Oh, do that shit one more time. My bad. I was like, I got you.
Starting point is 01:52:51 No, no, they could ask. Y'all should keep that, by the way. That's hard as fuck. Go ahead, go ahead. How you got your name Ludacris? I got my name Ludacris. It was just me being creative. My first name is Chris.
Starting point is 01:53:02 And like we spoke about, if you look up Ludacris in the dictionary, it means wild, ridiculous, beyond crazy. When you think about my lyricism, when you think about my videos, my visuals, all of that shit entails the word ludicrous. And then I just spelled it the way I wanted to spell it. That's how I got the name. So just being creative. Yeah. Okay, let's talk about My Chick Bad.
Starting point is 01:53:22 My Chick Bad. My Chick Bad. Another time, same album as How Low, and taking a producer that was definitely well-known within the Midwest and Chicago, Traxtor, but in terms of putting him onto an even bigger audience and making a hit song with him, that was another moment. With Nicki. With Nicki, absolutely. How did that happen?
Starting point is 01:53:42 It was dope. She was in Atlanta at the time. I believe she was managed by Deborah Andy. Yep, same as Gucci Mane. And somehow we got together, and she was just like, she loved the track. Got on that motherfucker, man. The rest is history. But she was living in Atlanta at that time.
Starting point is 01:53:57 This was right when she got started. Wow. Hell yeah. Do you think that's true? Like, most New York artists got to come to Atlanta to get on? I don't think that. Like I love what. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:54:09 Y'all are counting Conway the Machine and Benny and all them as New York. That's New York, right? Yeah, that is New York. Conway. Yeah. And Benny. I know they're from Buffalo. I'm just saying that.
Starting point is 01:54:21 Yeah, yeah. I don't think that. So no, they didn't have to come to Atlanta to do shit. Them motherfuckers are killing shit. I love them. Because it's like y'all would have got them. Why, they're from Buffalo I'm just saying that Yeah yeah So no they didn't have to Come to Atlanta to do shit Them motherfuckers are Killing shit I love them Cause it's like Y'all would've got them
Starting point is 01:54:28 They're saying that? Who's saying that? Shit he the one That asked the question I didn't say the shit I'm trying to clarify What he said I don't know what the fuck
Starting point is 01:54:36 Going on A lot of people said that You know for New York artists To get on sometimes They have to come Outside of New York Go to Atlanta
Starting point is 01:54:44 I mean I would say that For any artist In their city You might have to come outside of New York and go to Atlanta. I mean, I would put up for any artist in their city. You might have to go outside your city to make things happen. Yeah, I agree. Right, but my point is that
Starting point is 01:54:51 them niggas like Conway and Benny and West Side Gun, they didn't have to go nowhere. Uh-huh. Which is hell. And they killing shit. They've proven a lot of things.
Starting point is 01:54:59 Have you connected with them yet? I was on a record with Conway. Oh, really? Go check that shit out. Shit, crazy. Me, Conway, the Machine, and JID.
Starting point is 01:55:07 Oh, Jesus. Shit, stupid. Shout out to Griselda, man. Man, Griselda. It's crazy. Hey, I'm a fan. I'm a fan of Griselda, for sure. How fucking yeah.
Starting point is 01:55:14 Let's talk about Roll Out. Roll Out was on that Word of Mouth album. Okay. That was the first single, so it goes into Timbaland and everything I was talking about, but that set it off. And then Move Bitch was the last single On there, but that video with the big-ass head It's crazy because we did that video and the video didn't look good at all before we came up with the concept of trying to
Starting point is 01:55:34 Make a big a big-ass head Def Jam was ready to scrap the whole video because what it looked like before we just didn't really get anything from it And so me and Shaka had the idea of doing this, you know, this post effect and make him like a bobblehead. And literally, once everybody saw that shit, they was like, that's it.
Starting point is 01:55:52 We good. And the rest is fucking history because people love that video to this day. That's where the bobblehead gets from. That's dope. Yeah. God damn it.
Starting point is 01:56:00 And some other artists that have done the same thing in their videos. You should check that out. Just go do in their videos. You should check that out. Just go do your research. The internet can check that out. Who do you think, you think you top five with the best videos? Hell yeah.
Starting point is 01:56:12 100%. I'll give you that. Yeah, top five videos. You know, you got to put Missy in there. You got to put Busta in there. Who the other two are, I don't know. But I'm in that motherfucking top five. I didn't have to say I'm normal number one.
Starting point is 01:56:23 I ain't going to lie, you top three. You said top three. I appreciate that. I think it's you, Busta, and Missy. I didn't have to say I'm normal number one I ain't gonna lie You top three You said top three I appreciate that I really think it's you Busta and Mizzy I really do I think so too Thank you man
Starting point is 01:56:31 Cause God bless me There's other people Who get in that category But it's money wise It's not Creativity wise Right
Starting point is 01:56:40 Do I make sense? Yeah You know what I'm saying You can see them Be putting that space because they put the funds in. But creativity, you can do a creative video
Starting point is 01:56:52 for cheap and still be better than all the money that you put into it. Yep. I killed that? I feel like I killed that. Let's make some noise.
Starting point is 01:57:05 That's how this Gambino video is one of the best videos I've seen I killed that? I feel like I killed that. Let's make some noise. Fuck. That's how this Gambino video is one of the best videos I've seen in the last five years, though. What's this shit called? This is America? This is America.
Starting point is 01:57:14 I love that shit. I can tell he ain't wearing no deodorant. Oh, I can look at the video and I'm like, this nigga didn't wear no deodorant. He wasn't sure at all.
Starting point is 01:57:26 I could look and say this motherfucker is for his nappy chest hairs. That nigga didn't wear no deodorant. He's on another level, bro. He really is on another level. I love that video.
Starting point is 01:57:35 I'm with you. I'm just saying he ain't wearing no deodorant. He's ill though, bro. Homies dope, man. That's my nigga. Charles Gambino, yeah. Yeah, I love that.
Starting point is 01:57:44 I'm sorry. I went too far I don't think he's your friend at all Sorry I know a lot of stinky niggas For you to say that shit Damn He said I know a lot of stinky niggas
Starting point is 01:57:53 There's a lot of stinky They my friends I don't think he's your friend at all Not even 1.5% of the You can look at that video You can't tell He ain't wearing no deodorant He was like this
Starting point is 01:58:03 I think he wore a little bit of deodorant. He was like this. I think he wore a little bit of deodorant. He wore the invisible thing. That is no degree move. Have y'all gone on tour with this shit? Y'all motherfuckers need to go on tour. No, no, no. Seriously. I don't think we would relax on tour.
Starting point is 01:58:15 I'm not sure. Nobody wants to see this shit. I'm not sure. We don't even think. This is America. No, it's not. We don't even know if this makes sense. Wipe up.
Starting point is 01:58:23 This is a live show, bro. Y'all got to do this shit, man. I went too far? I went too far. You definitely went too far. All right, cool. What is the roster? We don't have a quick time with Slam no more.
Starting point is 01:58:32 What are you talking about? Def Jam Vendetta. Def Jam Vendetta. We was beating niggas up. We was. We was beating niggas the fuck up. I've been trying to work out my whole life to get my stature to the way it is in fucking Def Jam Vendetta.
Starting point is 01:58:44 Did you put on a tight suit to get your shit together? You mean your stature? I put on a tight suit. The longs. Oh, yeah. You're talking about for the... Yeah, yeah. I don't remember.
Starting point is 01:58:52 I truly don't remember that. That's not a cop out. I don't remember putting on no tight suits. They made you put on a fucking tight suit. I ain't going to lie. God damn. I made sure no one filmed me, too. I was like, you'll make sure.
Starting point is 01:59:01 Yeah, he had tights on. You don't know? I don't remember that shit, bro. Are we going there? He had these tights and he had like a cape. Yeah. he had tights on. You don't know? I don't remember that shit, bro. Are we going there? He had these tights, and he had like a cape. Yeah. You remember? Did you get your royalties?
Starting point is 01:59:09 No. You got royalties from WMNL? We all, yeah, we supposed to get some money. You got some money, OT, bro. You got to get some money. No, I got some up front. I was an up front nigga back then. He said, give it to me right now.
Starting point is 01:59:22 I'll see you later. I ain't going to lie to you. This is my brother. I'm going to be honest I ain't going to lie to you. This is my brother. I'm going to be honest. He's like, what are you giving me that? That's hilarious. Dead arm Nori. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:59:32 You punched him in the face? I hit everybody. Yeah. You on both games? One and two? I don't know. That's a good answer. I don't remember two.
Starting point is 01:59:41 I don't remember being in two. Were you on one and two, Chaka? I think it was just one. Damn. Did one just come out? Ohaka? I think it was just one. Damn. Did one just come out? Oh, you Ja Rule'd the second one. Did two come out not too long after one? Or that shit just came?
Starting point is 01:59:51 I wasn't paying. Like, they wasn't paying. Oh, yeah. You Ja Rule'd it. The same shit. Yeah, we done it. You did Ja Rule, but Ja Rule did the Fast and Furious. Damn.
Starting point is 01:59:59 Jesus, he opted out. That's fucked up, man. I might have took that bag. You took his bag? No, not his bag. Whose bag did, man. I might have took that bag. You took his bag? No, not his bag. Whose bag did you take? No, I took my bag. The Vendetta bag.
Starting point is 02:00:12 The Vendetta. Fight for New York, and I fought for Vendetta. Yeah, you fought for all that. I love it. That's what you're supposed to do. Yeah, goddamn it. Yeah, man. Fast and Furious is beautiful.
Starting point is 02:00:22 It is. Do you get catering? How's your trailer look? The best fucking catering in the world. You would be Furious is beautiful. It is. Do you get catering? How's your trailer look? The best fucking catering in the world. You would be surprised. That shit. Your trailer. Describe your trailer.
Starting point is 02:00:31 This shit is online. Like, go to my Instagram. But the trailer is a fucking duplex. It's like duplex trailers. Some shit that you didn't even know existed in the trailer world. And it's just stupid. Yeah, they got duplex trailers out, bro. You can't time out, bro?
Starting point is 02:00:45 You calling time out for what? Workout trailers. Because I went to... Hold up, call time out again before... Okay, there you go. I was in tour in Europe and I had the Ice Spice... No, not Ice Spice. Was it... Spice Girls. I had the Spice Girls tour bus.
Starting point is 02:01:01 And I had the spiral staircase in the bus. Kind of nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, shit like that. 100%. They got the, listen, when you're dealing with a $300 million budget, they pull out all the stops. When it comes to the trailers.
Starting point is 02:01:18 I didn't have a $300 million budget. No, when it comes to craft services, it's a whole different. $300 million bus? I didn't have that. Good. $300 million budget on the movie. Can we talk about that? Oh, okay.
Starting point is 02:01:27 A lot of that goes... Some of that shit goes to the craft services, the catering, all that shit. No, it's like... What's fucked up is going from Fast and Furious set to an independent set after that. That's what's fucked up. What's the independent set you went to? How do you adjust your mindset for that? Yeah, what's the independent set you went to?
Starting point is 02:01:42 You don't. That shit just happens. Not the crew. I'm saying... You have to adjust. I went from? Yeah, yeah. What's the independence that you went to? You don't. That shit just happens. Not the crew. I'm saying. You have to adjust. I went from too fast, too furious to like. To not fast at all and not furious at all. Right. To something totally different.
Starting point is 02:01:52 You get spoiled as fuck. And then you got to go to something else. And you're like, where's my shit? It's just like, you almost like, how did I sign on to do this independent movie? Like, what the hell with this shit? It was like, give me a girl. I just wanted to. Yeah. It's not fast and furious. We had it. She's our bart it was like, give me a girl. I just wanted to, you know,
Starting point is 02:02:05 it's not, we have it. She's our bartender. We was not fast and furious. Look, Jamie was ready to help. This shit is like being at a five star resort on set with Fast and Furious.
Starting point is 02:02:14 The most, it's the most amazing thing. Ja Rule, we love you. I've documented this shit, yeah. But you should have went to work that day. You Ja Rule should have.
Starting point is 02:02:28 Oh, shit. What do you want me to do? I don't know I mean I read it in Google I feel like Ja Rule Read it in Google too You should call Ja Rule And ask him Call Ja Rule
Starting point is 02:02:37 Give him a call Let's just see how he feels You don't have to talk about it I've seen Ja Give him a call I've seen Ja a couple times Alright what do it's the only fair thing to do here. All right, what do we do? What do we do?
Starting point is 02:02:46 Shotgun. FaceTime or regular? FaceTime. No, FaceTime him. FaceTime him. Come on. Oh, you're going to hit him? Yeah.
Starting point is 02:02:51 Yo, this is great because I want to hear what this nigga has to say. Yeah, call him. I want to hear what he has to say. This is phenomenal right now. I mean, it's only right. This guy knows him. Let's go. Yeah, you got to FaceTime.
Starting point is 02:03:03 Let's see. This is going to be good. I mean mean before you Just tell him what you're doing Don't be a dick Nah don't tell him shit Just ask that nigga No no
Starting point is 02:03:10 Don't be a dick Don't be a dick We want the real reaction Not like shit Let the cameras roll Nigga fuck that And what is that nigga Doing right now bro
Starting point is 02:03:19 Nigga He with Logan Paul right now Nah he probably knows You're calling him on Facebook Why'd you say he was Logan Paul I don't know I'm gonna go take a piss Cause Logan Paul won Last night Nah, he probably knows you're calling him on Facebook. Why'd you say he was Logan Paul? I don't know. I'm gonna go take a piss while you call. Because Logan Paul won
Starting point is 02:03:27 last night, right? He knocked the nigga out. That's not the same nigga? Yo, did you ever want to box like your pops? Nah. No? But he taught you how to box.
Starting point is 02:03:37 No, he never taught me shit. What? No. He taught me how to hold a gun. My father's a foul nigga. Damn. But... That nigga was a phenomenal boxer though.
Starting point is 02:03:45 Yeah, he was a phenomenal boxer, but I was not. I got you. Okay. The Ja Rule didn't answer. We don't have no
Starting point is 02:03:52 plan B, right? The outtakes. Holy moly. He don't went to the fucking bathroom. Yo, keep the camera rolling. Yeah, that's all we
Starting point is 02:03:59 do. That's all we do. That's all we do. It's the first two hour goddamn. Thanks, man. And goddammit, Shaka,
Starting point is 02:04:08 I just want to say something. I don't know. Shaka is one of the best people I've ever met. One of the best human beings on human feet. Not one of the best managers or the best people in the industry. Best people, period. He's a very straight up guy.
Starting point is 02:04:26 He's a very straightforward person yeah I wanted to give shock of his flower you know what I mean 100% because I want to say something to all of us that's here we live in a great. We live in a
Starting point is 02:04:46 great society. We live in a great thing that we're all perishing from. We're all benefiting from. But the thing is, everyone in this world is not benefiting from that same thing. So there's always going to be vultures.
Starting point is 02:05:01 Big up to Kanye and Tyler for naming the album Vultures. But in real life, vultures is not something friendly. There's real vultures out here. There's real people that don't want to work for what they can get and they want to just take. And it's terrible. Because it's us taking from us.
Starting point is 02:05:30 And that just shouldn't exist. Like we work so hard. You know what DMX sat down with me one day? And DMX said to me, Nori, I stopped dissing whack rappers. I asked him,
Starting point is 02:05:43 I said, well, that's kind of crazy. Like, why would you just say that? And DMX said to me, because every whack rapper who I think is whack saves 16 families.
Starting point is 02:05:54 And that 16 families saves another 16 families. Wow. That's deep. This was on Drink Champs. And I was like, holy moly guacamole. And that's what
Starting point is 02:06:08 I kind of want to do, Luda, is it's about time we praise each other. Hell yeah. It's about time we say to each other, yo, man, what we did
Starting point is 02:06:21 and what we're doing and we're continuing to be successful for should be saluted. Yeah. It should be recommended. It should be in the forefront of what life is because no one else is going to give it to us.
Starting point is 02:06:39 And I like to say, I don't like to say I'm hip hop. And when I say I'm hip hop, what I mean is that's my religion. That's my race. That's our religion. Yes. That's our way because... Everything you're saying is the only reason I interrupted the natural flow of things with what I said earlier because of what you're saying right now.
Starting point is 02:06:56 Yeah. Somebody got to be the bigger person in all this shit. You know what I'm saying? But go ahead. Sorry. Go ahead, sorry. Yeah, and that's why I'm so happy that you're here. It's because Hip Hop 50 is great. It is, yep. But Hip Hop 1000 is even better.
Starting point is 02:07:22 I want your kids' kids, my kids' kids, your kids' kids, her kids' kids, his kids' kids, everyone to grow up through that same sentiment. You couldn't have said it better. We talking about kids, we talking about family, we talking about hip-hop and all this shit. I was with RZA a couple years back, and we was just shooting this shit because I'm such a Wu-Tang fan. And I was asking him a bunch of questions,
Starting point is 02:07:38 and along the line of questioning, somehow I asked him, we talking about families, and I was like, how many kids you got? And that nigga, he looked like I asked him We were talking about families And I was like How many kids you got? And that nigga He looked like I asked him A crazy question That nigga said Shit man
Starting point is 02:07:50 You know Hip hop That was that nigga's answer That was the number That's the number The answer was hip hop I'm still answering that way Hip hop is his children?
Starting point is 02:08:00 That nigga looked at me That was the I don't know what it meant He never gave me an answer Legitimately I just said How many kids you got? That nigga looked at me and said, I don't know what it meant. He never gave you an answer legitimately. I just said, how many kids you got? That nigga looked at me and said, shit, you know, hip hop. That could have meant Wu-Tang 9.
Starting point is 02:08:11 No, that could be. That's exactly what it could have been. I don't know what it means. It's what the nigga said, bro. Hip hop is his children. Like, everything has been inspired by them. Have y'all had RZA on here? Nah, we need.
Starting point is 02:08:22 When you get him on here, please ask that nigga what hip hop mean. And by the way, I've... Now, we need RZA, absolutely. I've hanged out with RZA, and RZA is probably... He wants to come and drink with us so bad. He wants to out-drink us, though. I feel like I'm out-drinking y'all right now. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Starting point is 02:08:43 How many artists, let me ask my people over here, how many artists have out-drank the Drink Champs hosts? How many? The motherfuckers went like this. Who's one? Who's one? I'd like to go on the record as being the first artist to out-drink the Drink Champs hosts, ladies and gentlemen.
Starting point is 02:09:01 But Luda, I'm not going to lie to you. We was on tour together, me and you. Man, these old Def Jam stories are the greatest fucking stories of life. Please tell them because I like those stories. It's a beautiful story. And we're in Atlanta. This is documented on MTV, by the way. It's documented on MTV.
Starting point is 02:09:22 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Luda, you're one of my favorite people. I just want to just come and just say hi to you. I have no idea. This guy's in there. He's from Queens. Who is? You.
Starting point is 02:09:35 The guy that I slammed. You're supposed to lead up to that guy. Go ahead. Well, that guy, he's sitting there. He's like, Lost boys don't show me no love., Lost Boys don't show me no love. Al Canelli don't show me no love. Mobb Deep don't show me no love.
Starting point is 02:09:51 Is someone telling you this? Yes. I don't know Luda's filming his fucking, my diary. Wait, wait. Luda's telling you this or somebody else? No, somebody from Queens telling me that he doesn't get no love. Okay. But I'm there to see Luda.
Starting point is 02:10:04 And I'm just like Hey what's up brother And this guy's like I'm like I'ma show him some love So I just I took care of every Busy jury I had on
Starting point is 02:10:15 That's why I asked you Did your dad teach you How to box Cause your ass Body slamming motherfucker That wasn't boxing I know it wasn't But your dad is a boxer
Starting point is 02:10:23 I know but that's what I'm saying He a fighting motherfucker A lot of people Don't know that shit And I took it wasn't. That is a boxer. I know, but that's what I'm saying. He a fighting motherfucker. A lot of people don't know that shit. And I took it off, and I had no idea. But we... He body slammed the shit out of this nigga. And Luda said, tell him where you're from, nigga. Luda understood the assignment.
Starting point is 02:10:41 He body slammed him and powerbombed this nigga all in one. It was the craziest shit I've ever seen. You put some power behind that body slam. And by the way, he cannot be mad because he hung out
Starting point is 02:10:51 with us the whole night. That's the part y'all used to see. He still won. After his neck got fucked up. Oh, after you fucked him up? Yeah, yeah, yeah. He still was like,
Starting point is 02:10:58 I'm hanging, I'm hanging. We took some Hennessy shots in Luda's room. We chilled the whole night. Did you wipe him off? Like, oh, you good? You good, bro? No, I don't wipe people off.
Starting point is 02:11:07 Come on. Wipe them off? Wipe them down? I ain't wiping them down. God damn it. Yo, okay, okay. Hold on. Let me get back to the next one.
Starting point is 02:11:16 Because I got a lot. I got a lot. I ain't got a lot. Luda, your discography is crazy. I appreciate it. Hold up, Luda. Let me ask you this. How was there no version of you signing to Jermaine Dupri or Dungeon Family? That's a great fucking question.
Starting point is 02:11:33 We kind of went through the history when I was at the radio station. Yeah. So there's different things that happened with all of these different entities. I was the first rapper on John Madden 2000. That's Jermaine Dupri. He did that for me, right? And I had the Afro, so you remember the So So Def mascot, the shit that looks, you know, with the Afro. Are you saying that's you?
Starting point is 02:11:50 He was always joking like I'm the So So Def mascot. So there was a time where I— What's wrong with that rumor? Yeah, yeah. What's wrong with that rumor? Absolutely. Jermaine Dupri, you own 12%. Yeah, I say this story all the time, but he's one of the people that when I was before I was at the radio station, just complete stranger, knew where he lived, went up to his house, tried to get his motherfucker a demo tape.
Starting point is 02:12:11 And this nigga was outside one day when I drove up and actually by himself walked up and took the demo tape from me. That's how great of a person Jermaine Dupri is. He was outside and I was like like i want to give you something now this is ridiculous like for a motherfucker to be alone and actually like you ain't got to do that shit right right i only say that to say that i have my own extremely multi-million dollar home now and if a nigga comes to my gate and says hey come over here i want to give you my demo tape fuck no i ain't going to go to get this shit probably rough so sometimes in retrospect you look like damn
Starting point is 02:12:46 that motherfucker's a phenomenal human being bro but all that being said so so def definitely you know there was a time where we worked together
Starting point is 02:12:55 organized noise like I said they did game got switched that was the flip side of what's your fantasy so at the time
Starting point is 02:13:02 they had so much going on they had you know the cool breeze the witch doctor outcast uh goody mob all these artists and they were just trying to find and wait are you saying that you were associated to them not associated but i was in there and i got records from them at the same time while they were feeding all of these other artists okay so i was down there when future used to be called meathead that That used to be his name, Meathead. Wow, wow. And so this motherfucker was down there as a kid, and it's just like his success is great because of what he's done,
Starting point is 02:13:30 but he was a student. He'd be in there watching all the time. He's Meathead. What's your name? Still Ludacris, but on the radio, you know, Chris Lovellovell. But I say all that to say I've had my moments with each of those entities, but I never signed with them. Even with Timbaland, there was a time where I was about to get signed to Timbaland
Starting point is 02:13:47 because my first record before What's Your Fantasy, I was on his album, and I had a song called Fat Rabbit, which ended up being on back for the first time. So again, I went through all these processes, and nobody really stepped all the way up, which caused me to put my money into myself and invest and do the whole incognito album that's what it was it was them though that didn't step all the way i'm just saying for the person listening that's that's you right when you were that it's when you i don't want to put the blame on them specifically it was like circumstances that they were dealing with at the time where i wasn't patient enough to just wait around right and thank God that those circumstances happened,
Starting point is 02:14:27 because if they didn't, I would not have said, fuck it, I'm going to do this on my own. You know what I'm saying? That's how things work out. Right. Shit don't work out for you to be able to do certain things and take fate into your own hands. Right.
Starting point is 02:14:39 That's literally how it works out. And so I went to an independent company. I remember they gave me $7 an album. I sold 50,000 records at $7 a pop. I got $350,000 check when I was like 21 years old. That ain't bad at all. Biggest check I ever got. All put into myself.
Starting point is 02:14:57 And I made the whole album for like $20,000. But again, that's all money I saved up from all the after parties and shit that I was doing when I was 18, 19, 20 from working at the radio station. So it was all part of the plan. It was very strategic. And it took longer than I thought. But that shit worked out the way it needed to work out. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for it. Do you think your process, the way that you did it, would not be appreciated today?
Starting point is 02:15:22 I think it would be very appreciated today. We trying to put this bitch on film and on television the way that it happened. Because there's so much more to it. I'm just trying to give y'all the short version. Right, right. Yeah, 100%. Let's talk about Splash Waterfalls. Splash Waterfalls, that's a good question because it was Shauna's brother is a producer.
Starting point is 02:15:42 Really? And he produced Splash Waterfalls. Get the fuck out of here. Yeah, Shauna's brother is a producer. Really? And he produced Splash Waterfalls. Get the fuck out of here. Yeah. Yeah, Shauna's fucking brother. And Ice Drake. So he produced that song, Splash Waterfalls. So he put Drake on.
Starting point is 02:15:56 That's Romer DeRumo. I wouldn't say that. He's the first Drake? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's Romer DeRumo. And Drake. Nah, but that's where that came from. And we did the remix with Tony, Tony, Tony Beat.
Starting point is 02:16:06 So that shit is another great one for the ladies whenever we do these shows. Yeah, Splash Waterfall. So before you got married, you used to finger pop a lot of things. No comment, motherfucker. What are you talking about? Get ready for this part. No, I mean, I'm married like a motherfucker. I'm 16.
Starting point is 02:16:22 So you're just going in with it. How many kids you got? Hip hop. I'm six. You're supposed to say hip hop, nigga. Oh, hip I'm married like a motherfucker. I'm 16. And so you're just going in with a tiki-tiki? How many kids you got? Hip-hop. I'm six. You're supposed to say hip-hop, nigga. Oh, hip-hop. My bad. Ask that question again.
Starting point is 02:16:29 How many kids you got? Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop.
Starting point is 02:16:33 Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop.
Starting point is 02:16:33 Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop.
Starting point is 02:16:33 Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop.
Starting point is 02:16:33 Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop.
Starting point is 02:16:34 Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop. Hip-hop Holy shit. Let's rewind that. Ask me that again.
Starting point is 02:16:46 Who got the best food, Dominican Republic or Puerto Rico? Don't do that. Cubans. I said it. I don't know if he understand the war. He just released it. That's why I asked the question. Y'all motherfuckers hitting me with all these.
Starting point is 02:16:57 Ain't no war. It's Cuban. It's Cuban. It's Cuban. Let's reverse the role. Let me play about like a slow and, what's the shit called? Slow time.
Starting point is 02:17:04 Slow time with you. Slow time. Yeah, yeah. Slow time with slime. Yeah, yeah. Who's reverse the role. Let me play up. I get slow and what's the shit called? Slow time with you. Slow time. Slow time with slime. Who's got the best food? Cuban. So he has no fight. Okay. I got you.
Starting point is 02:17:13 Okay. Yeah. Cuban's got the best food. Who's got the best roast compoyo? Cuban. Cuban. Sorry. That's the best.
Starting point is 02:17:23 Who's got the best roast compoyo? Dominicans or Puerto Ricans? No. Why are you asking? It's Cubans, sorry. It's the best aloe compoyo. All right, all right. Who's got the best aloe compoyo? Dominicans or Puerto Ricans? No, no, no. Why are you asking? It's Cubans, guys. I'm trying to stomp this motherfucker right here. You're ruining it right now. Yeah, because I can't let him answer any other than Cubans.
Starting point is 02:17:36 Who's got the best food, Puerto Ricans or Dominicans? I'm just going to throw this out there. Ask him who's got the best alzheimer's. Yeah, I want to know what's the hard question when it comes to Dominican sport. What's the hardest food question of all? Mofongo. Who's got the best
Starting point is 02:17:50 Mofongo? For the cameras. Puerto Ricans win. We win. Spell Mofongo. M-O-F-O-N-G-O. But, but,
Starting point is 02:18:00 I'm going to tell you this. Tell us. Tell us, Wanchi. The best chicharron de pollo con hueso is Puerto Rican. But why the hueso? I'm fucked up about it. The best chicharron de pollo con hueso from Puerto Rico, it'd be the fucking Dominican chefs.
Starting point is 02:18:19 I hate it. We finally got a real answer. I hate it. I can't stand it. I look up. What the fuck? What the fuck is Juanito there for? Juanito?
Starting point is 02:18:29 Talk about Tato. It's not Tato. All the same shit, bro. Carlito. Carlito. Carlito. We don't like it, right? Listen, bro.
Starting point is 02:18:39 We all the same people, man. You think you're having a hard time. Michelle Rodriguez from the Fast and Furious. One of her parents is Dominican. One of her parents is Puerto Rican. Oh, they fighting. Get back! The dopest shit about...
Starting point is 02:18:55 Let's wait for the sirens. That's the movie. The sirens are part of the process. Oh, dope. The dopest shit about Get Back is Tom Cruise in the movie, um, Tropic, the dope shit about Get Back is Tom Cruise in the movie Tropic Thunder dancing at the end of the fucking movie with the big ass, yeah, with the big arms and everything. He was Les Grossman in that movie. Okay. He played Les Grossman. I think it's Tom Cruise because Tom Cruise was the agent. He was the fat agent at the end.
Starting point is 02:19:25 Yeah, exactly. That was real. No, so what I was going to say was the record was good. You know, like, we being honest with each other, like, it wasn't my favorite of all of my records.
Starting point is 02:19:34 But when that nigga did that at the end of the movie... Tropic Thunder. Yeah, when Tom Cruise... I'm sorry. Tom Cruise, he put on the fat suit. He put on the
Starting point is 02:19:43 Just For Men that everybody's wearing right now. Right. Okay. So when Tom Cruise at the end of the movie put on the Fast suit He put on the Just for men That everybody's wearing Right now Right Okay So when Tom Cruise At the end of the movie Put on the big suit
Starting point is 02:19:49 And he danced to the song The entire time It literally took the record To a whole other level And gave it a whole new culture To listen to And so it was good record But he made it great
Starting point is 02:20:00 Wow And that's what's dope about it Because Just cause Tom Cruise Would do that And it wasn't like Five ten seconds We're talking about You watch the end of this movie It's pretty much The whole song Yeah and that's what's dope about it because just cause Tom Cruise would do that and it wasn't like 5-10 seconds we're talking about
Starting point is 02:20:06 you watch the end of this movie it's pretty much the whole song yeah so did it give you a different idea of the power of that of the movie
Starting point is 02:20:14 no not even that so Ben Stiller is the one who produced and did the movie and he called us to do a a screening of the movie before it came out
Starting point is 02:20:22 and so a lot of people don't know this man Tom Cruise is my guy. So I also talked to him about it. They asked my permission about the shit, and then we made it happen. And so I just saw Tom Cruise. I was on tour with Janet.
Starting point is 02:20:34 He came out to one of the shows. I saw him at the damn F1, the F1 here in Miami. Yo, Tom Cruise is, man, that's my guy, bro. Tom Cruise is, wait, what's going on, man? I don't know, I don't know, I don't know. He just was flossing. Nah, Tom Cruise... He just had his moment.
Starting point is 02:20:49 I ain't going to lie. Did you hear how he was spitting? He's been boss. Nah, he's an inspiration, man. When he does all his own stunts and shit like that, that motherfucker's an inspiration. He plays no games. He does his own stunts, bro.
Starting point is 02:21:01 He has to insure himself. He has to put millions of dollars up because he wants to do his own stunts. He literally jumps from plane and all this crazy shit. He does all this shit. Pun tried to do that. I didn't agree with him. No, no, come on. You said big puns? No, pun did it, but it was a different level. It was foul. It was a different level.
Starting point is 02:21:17 I didn't want to co-sign it at all. No, but it was a whole different level. He came up. He wanted to jump off the jet. I don't want nothing to do with this. I'm sorry. Can you imagine doing a movie and you are insuring... You're putting up
Starting point is 02:21:28 millions of dollars for your own insurance because you want to do all the stunts because the movie is not going to do that for you. So that's how...
Starting point is 02:21:35 I'm just saying that's how much he believes... So you're saying when you do a... They say to you, Luda, if you want to do your own stunts,
Starting point is 02:21:41 you got to... Oh, they don't even ask us if we want to do our own stunts. Tom Cruise goes the extra mile. Yeah, I'm talking about Tom. I'm talking about Tom. Yeah, I'm saying theyts, you got to... Oh, they don't even ask us if we want to do our own stunts. No, you're talking about Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise goes the extra mile. Yeah, I'm talking about Tom. I'm talking about Tom.
Starting point is 02:21:46 Yeah, I'm saying they never gave you that option? No, absolutely not. Not yet. Most actors don't do that at all. I haven't got to that level yet. Now, that's an aspiration for myself. You wouldn't go there. Did you just see me at the fucking Georgia Dome with the Falcons?
Starting point is 02:21:59 I just repelled from the goddamn ceiling. That shit was wild. I want to do this shit. You want to do Tom Cruise shit? Hell yeah. Nah, you wild, man. Tom Cruise is trying to kill himself. I'm going to take the money I get from drink champs and insure myself on the next goddamn film.
Starting point is 02:22:11 We got no money. What are you talking about? Relax. Hold on. Hold on a second, y'all. Anybody get money, you come to drink champs. Come here. Wait, they didn't tell you?
Starting point is 02:22:19 No, no, no. We got no money. Get the fuck out of here. They didn't tell y'all they was paying me for this? I don't know. Yeah, shock of paying you for sure that's me and shawty old shit from back in the days bro how y'all not gonna tell that's fucked up i hope that shit don't come out of y'all check bro
Starting point is 02:22:34 you know mr lee where you at mr lee no no it's funny because i saw him like a year ago yeah he was with kanye we was at Carbone. And the nigga was like, we got to get you on Drink Channel. So I was like, man, I'm going to come up when I got some shit to promote. The only reason I have not been here is you said you wanted me at the beginning. It's because I needed the check. That's right. Got that.
Starting point is 02:23:00 And so the only reason I came here today is they finally told me that I could get the check that I've been looking for for 80 years. Shaka paid it himself. That's true. That's true. Mr. Lee paid Shaka. That's what took so long. That's what took so long. Shaka's so rich, he just paid himself.
Starting point is 02:23:14 Mr. Lee had to move some birds. Mr. Lee moved some birds. I'm just saying, look, I don't fuck it up for all of y'all because every artist that comes out here next, hey, man, where's the check that we got? We don't got it. We don't got it. We spent all our money On alcohol guys Oh shit

Starting point is 02:28:38 Three hours. Three hours. No, we don't edit. Most of the Drink Champs shits are three hours? Yeah. Oh. We're like idiots. Oh, this is great.
Starting point is 02:28:45 All right, keep going. What was your question, though? No, I thought the average time frame of all Drink Champs interviews was around an hour. I thought y'all were trying to keep it there. The TV version is 45 minutes with commercials. Gotcha. But the real version is three plus. Gotcha.
Starting point is 02:29:02 Okay. I'm cool for a minute, but I do have to go to a fucking show. No, no, no. We don't expect. Yeah, yeah. But we just tell you what it is. Give him another shot. No, we good. Got you. Okay. I'm cool for a minute, but I do have to go to a fucking show. No, no, no. We don't expect, yeah, yeah, but we just tell you what it is. Give him another shot.
Starting point is 02:29:08 No, we good. Oh, no, we ain't missing the fucking, we got to perform for the fucking thing. Oh, I'm coming to see you perform. I'm coming to see you perform. No, that's a part of it.
Starting point is 02:29:16 At least in my mind. This is Jingle Jam or some shit. Oh, Jingle Jam? Yeah, so it's like, it's a bunch of artists. But that shit is in Fort Lauderdale. Give me another shot. Where's Jamie at?
Starting point is 02:29:23 Nigga, I don't need a shot. I've been drinking my drink. I'm good, bro. I'm in. I'm all the way good. I'm in. Good. Okay.
Starting point is 02:29:31 Listen, we've been blessed to have little Chris today. I appreciate it, bro. And we talked about splashing on waterfalls already. I love it. I love it. Pimping hoes all over the world.
Starting point is 02:29:39 Pimping all over the world. It was never pimping hoes all over the world. I did have a song called Ho. But pimping all over the world. Pimping all over the world. Yeah, shout outping hoes all over the world. I did have a song called Ho, but pimping all over the world. Pimping all over the world. Yeah, shout out to Polo Da Don
Starting point is 02:29:49 on that one. And Kerry Hilson wrote that hook. When you hear it singing. And I feel like Polo Da Don had his braids on to the back. He did have his braids. Okay. 100%.
Starting point is 02:29:57 Hey, love Polo Da Don, man. That was one of those records that he sent to me. And I was like, I already knew what it was. And by the way, since we giving people their flowers, man, Polo and his Sonics and his production of what he's contributed to the game. Go back and listen to his catalog. His Sonics are out of this world.
Starting point is 02:30:18 I remember Timbaland, you know, leaning on him and kind of giving him some advice. And those are two people that I respect when it comes to Sonics in the game. Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Polo. Wow. Yep. Have you worked with Dre? I haven't. If that's going to be one of the questions of who I haven't worked with, Dr. Dre.
Starting point is 02:30:36 Damn. When we was on the Washed set, he had like a kind of a studio off to the side, and I went and listened to a bunch of beats, but we never were able to bring anything to fruition but you know he was he was multitasking so he was doing two things at the same time oh man it ain't too late we can still make it no no it's never too late yeah i agree let's make it happen It's the stomped Join Young Buck Young Buck Young Buck
Starting point is 02:31:08 Yeah Young Buck We kind of went We kind of went We kind of went there We're already with T.I. Yeah You kind of get out there Let's go Saturday then
Starting point is 02:31:16 Yep Today's Saturday Saturday Today's Friday nigga You've been drinking way too much bro Not today's Saturday Yo Today's Saturday
Starting point is 02:31:24 No you've been drinking Today is Saturday. Oh, shit. Today is Saturday. I like that. I like that. Saturday. Sticky, icky, icky.
Starting point is 02:31:34 Sticky, icky, icky. Yo, that's how busy I am. No, you got to sip it. You got to sip it. That's how busy I am. I don't even get what day it is. Today is Saturday. Nah, you right.
Starting point is 02:31:45 Saturday, Organized Noise did that shit. Again. Yeah, Organized Noise. Organized Noise, man. They also did Blueberry Yum Yum, which is one of my favorite records, man. But Saturday was on Word of Mouth album? Yo, you know you blessed when you don't remember
Starting point is 02:32:01 what song is on what album, because you got that video album. Yeah, I love that shit. Thank you, bro. Right, that's right. No, that was one of those records that it just stood the test of time. And again, in terms of trying to do something totally different than what was going on in the industry
Starting point is 02:32:16 with the cadences of the verses and just trying to be different. That was one of those things where I set out to do that. And when you're coming out with your second album and the first one is successful, you know that you can take some risks and take some chances. And that's exactly what we did. So that's what happened. Mark Classfield, I believe, produced or directed that video.
Starting point is 02:32:35 I ain't going to lie. Your memory is very good. I must not smoke no marijuana. Yeah. Oh, yeah. No, I do all that. Okay. Not today.
Starting point is 02:32:44 Who are the top five? Okay, I'm not going to put five that Not today Who are the top five Okay, I'm not going to put five on it Who are the top MCs that influence you? We talked about that When I said Red and Common But I want you to go deeper, I know there's more than that Okay, so I said LL Cool J
Starting point is 02:33:00 Because if it wasn't for him coming out with I'm Bad I was in the fourth grade I did a talent showcase where I did that record and I knew every word to that entire song I'm Bad no rapper can rap quite like I can I'll take a muscle-bound man into you Pinnacle when I say that he's the one who made me want to pursue this as a fucking career right to to rap. And every time I see him, I tell him that. You saw yourself in him, in a sense. You can say,
Starting point is 02:33:28 yeah, I mean, you can say that, or you can say, you know, once he saw me, he saw himself in me. It could be either way,
Starting point is 02:33:34 but I guess what I'm saying is that he inspired me to want to, to rap. Right. Take a pee-pee. Go ahead, bro.
Starting point is 02:33:41 That's all good. So I would say LL Cool J, just because he inspired me to want to rap. I say, I think Scarface. We talked about that. Face being the phenomenal storyteller that he is, talking about lyricism. His sonics were amazing as well. And honorable mention to Mike Dean, and I know that was a part of that process.
Starting point is 02:34:02 You discovered Face through Ghetto Boys, assuming. Was he in Ghetto Boys? Yeah, I believe so. Ghetto Boys first. Because a lot of people don't know, Scarface was a DJ before he was in the Ghetto Boys. And you knew him at that point too? I didn't know him at that time.
Starting point is 02:34:16 I'm saying you knew about him. I knew about him, yeah. Before Ghetto Boys? I heard about that. Really? I was engulfed in hip-hop culture. Everything that had anything to do with hip hop I'm all about it
Starting point is 02:34:27 Researching and everything Before that You must have been like Really deep We in the south though The south is well connected man I mean I feel like I know shit But I didn't know that part of it
Starting point is 02:34:37 Yeah So basically I would say Scarface I would say LL I'd say Common Right I feel like Common is underrated, man. That Common since that first album, No I.D. Yeah.
Starting point is 02:34:49 Resurrection. Phenomenal. Resurrection. Yep. Yeah. Red Man, I said. That first Red Man album is off the chain. Yep.
Starting point is 02:34:56 And if I had to name a fifth one, it would be Outkast. If you can put those two together. Okay. As one, you know. So you feel that creates ludicrous. There's a, I was, I loved all of hip hop, but you asked off the top of my head, you asked me to name five. Those are the first five that I could name.
Starting point is 02:35:14 That helped shape me. Okay. Yep. But then you got, you know, being in Atlanta, like the Kilo Ali's and the Shy D's and just the bass heavy and us loving to ride around in our cars. Wasn't Gucci Crew originally from Atlanta or were they Miami? Ghost Town DJs.
Starting point is 02:35:28 I always represent Gucci Crew's Miami, but I feel like... We had Ghost Town DJs. They're Miami, right? Yeah. DJ Smart for Ghost Town DJs. That like set the tone. You had Kilo Ali
Starting point is 02:35:42 and you had all these bass artists. And that's what... Yeah, well, we had that synergy with Miami and Atlanta with the bass. You had Kilo Ali and you had all these bass artists. And that's what helped. Yeah, well, we had that synergy with Miami and Atlanta with the bass. Right, right. And that's what helped shape the kind of tone of Atlanta music as well. So, yeah, I would say that. Blow it out your ass. I love how we just pause and then blow it out your ass.
Starting point is 02:36:03 It just came out of nowhere. It's fantastic. It's the best. It just came out of nowhere. It's fantastic. It's the best. It's Drink Chance, baby. No, it was dope because that was Chicken and Beer album. That was my third album. And I think my first week sales was the highest first week sales of my entire career on that album.
Starting point is 02:36:20 And I remember. He was getting 80,000 a verse back then. Let's make some noise for that. He said 80,000. verse back then. Let's make some noise for that. He said 80,000. That's what you said. He said more than that. Look at him. He said, nope, it was more.
Starting point is 02:36:31 Hold on. He was getting bigger than that? My bad. When did Glamorous come out? What era? Don't worry about it. That's a long one. Don't worry. We got Googlers.
Starting point is 02:36:39 That's fine. But yeah, probably... They paid to Google. Yeah, it's August. No, I don't know what year, but I was going to say, what comes to mind with that particular song was us shooting this video, and you know how sometimes you would shoot two songs in one video? We had this Southern Hospitality intro to that album,
Starting point is 02:36:56 and I still use that intro to this day because it had an Isaac Hayes sample in it, and it was the most amazing fucking intro ever. DJ Nasty from Orlando did that. Oh, shout out to Nasty, bro. Shout out to Nasty. It's called Southern Fried Intro. So we did that and blow it out your ass all in one video. The whole crew was in there.
Starting point is 02:37:15 You know what I mean? Shauna, Chingy, Titty Boy. This was when we had 15 fucking artists. So everybody is in this video. Yeah. So it was amazing because that was just a moment in time where i was like i was after word of mouth did 3.5 million and i'm going to the next album so once a nigga cross over that whole sophomore jinx shit it's just like okay nigga i'm here
Starting point is 02:37:36 fuck y'all can't say shit else about me now i'm about to take this shit to a whole other level so that time frame was it was a beautiful time frame. It was a beautiful time frame. And I remember Jay-Z, I believe, because I did, I want to say like 300, almost 400,000 records the first week, he always fucked with me.
Starting point is 02:37:54 Come on. One more. Wake the fuck up. That's crazy. No, he always fucked with me. Like, that was my guy because we was at the same label. We'd see each other a lot
Starting point is 02:38:04 and he would give me a lot of game. But after that first week, he came to me. He was like, nigga, there you go. It's official. It's official now. You know, that motherfucker's the first week king. Yes. If you think about the history, that motherfucker sold like half a million first week like three or four times.
Starting point is 02:38:20 Yep. If my mind serves me correct. So when I got close to that on his ass, he was like, yeah, man, this shit is official. All right. So let me ask you, again, I'm bouncing around. You signed Chingy, right? Yep.
Starting point is 02:38:34 Honorable mention to Shaka. Shaka was really the one that spearheaded that entire Chingy movement and situation. Because Nelly is hot? He kind of, I wouldn't say A&R, but he was the one that noticed it and picked it up
Starting point is 02:38:47 and brought it to the team. I don't want to take credit for that, basically. Okay. So, basically, Atlanta's a region that's hot,
Starting point is 02:39:01 but we know there's other artists that came in there. St. Louis is kind of almost undiscovered. We got Nelly. I wouldn came in there. St. Louis is like almost undiscovered. We got Nelly. I wouldn't say that. I don't want to say undiscovered because you had Nelly and you had his team there. This was years before.
Starting point is 02:39:14 Nelly and his team is kind of like in that same category, right? I'm just saying I wouldn't use the word undiscovered because St. Louis, from my perspective, in terms of rap and in terms of that category, Nelly really catapulted it to a whole other level.
Starting point is 02:39:29 I agree with you 1 million percent. What made you sign a Chingy? Was it because of Nelly's success? So Chingy had the song Right There. That song was out already? He put it out independently. That's why I'm saying Shaka flagged that
Starting point is 02:39:45 He noticed it And he was the one That brought it to the team I can't take credit for this I gotta give Shaka All the credit Goddamn I had never heard it
Starting point is 02:39:55 But you know As a As a person who Understands music And understands creative You know when something Is popping And if you're the first person before everybody else gets to it
Starting point is 02:40:06 and you go sit with that artist and you tell them you believe in them, then that's what is the magic that can help you even further propel them to superstar status. When that song was out, we knew it was good and we just wanted to help catapult it to a whole other level. I apologize. So he came to you and he played you that record? How did this happen?
Starting point is 02:40:24 He played me the record. And I'm going to be honest with y'all, when I first heard it, I didn't understand it. And it was right there? Yeah, it was right there. I'm sorry, I'm doing a dance. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 02:40:33 Yeah, you're not really doing the dance. You almost had it. Right there, right there. I'm fucking it up, Lula. When he brought it to me, it was, I heard it and it's like, I didn't fully understand it. But it didn't,
Starting point is 02:40:48 when he believed in it so much that I was like, man, if you believe in it this much, let's roll with it. And the rest, as I keep saying, the rest is fucking history, bro. When you believe in your brothers, 24 years, no contract. When you believe in your brothers, shit happens.
Starting point is 02:41:03 Good shit happens. God damn. That is beautiful. Okay, damn. Damn, Rasta, come on. Just say it out loud. Do you still have your $3 What is it?
Starting point is 02:41:19 $93 Akira Legend. What makes it so special to you? Do you need to say that the right way before I answer? Akira legend What makes it so special to you? Do you need to say that the right way before I answer? Everybody know I can't read Go ahead, let's go My 1993 Akira legend I absolutely still have that shit
Starting point is 02:41:38 And here's a great story about that Well first let me answer what you said What makes it so special? God bless you, nigga. That's COVID. What makes it so special to me? I'll give you a quick story about what makes it so special. I have had this car
Starting point is 02:41:56 from the beginning of time. Before I became commercially successful, before I signed my Def Jam deal. You ain't figured out nothing. That was the tour bus, and it was the Acura Legend. Riding the fucking Augusta, everywhere in Georgia, doing all these shows
Starting point is 02:42:10 with like 20 motherfucking people showing up on the Chitlin' Circuit because I had this independent album out. Was you in Chitlin'? No, I wasn't. It's just called the Chitlin' Circuit. Do your research. I know the Chitlin' Circuit.
Starting point is 02:42:21 I know, I'm fucking with you. I've been there. I'm still there in my mind. Yeah, my bad. So what makes that car so special is I'm driving this car 15 years plus. One day, I'm on the goddamn highway, and I'm driving my car. This shit got over 200,000 miles on it. And so I'm driving.
Starting point is 02:42:39 I'm in the left lane. I'm in the fast lane, and I see this motherfucking truck with a U-Haul hitch on it, and I'm just minding my business. And all of a sudden I see the hitch start to sway. And I'm like, in my mind, this is reaction time. Because in a split second, this hitch came off of the fucking truck. And now I got to use all of my instinct to try and get as far away from this shit as possible. Because it's coming straight for the passenger side of my Acura Legend.
Starting point is 02:43:04 I tried my best to get away, but this shit battle-rammed the living shit out of that shit, right? So luckily, I'm okay. I had the seatbelt on. I could pull over to the side, but my car is total. So fast forward about two months later, I'm trying to get this shit fixed. And Acura, the company, knows nothing about this crash. But they wanted to use Pimpin' All Over the World, the song, in one of their Acura commercials to promote a new movie. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 02:43:30 They have no idea you just crashed. Yeah, I'm sorry. Acura wanted to use the Pimpin' All Over the World song to promote one of their commercials. So they invite me out because we cleared the Pimpin' All Over the World song for their commercial. And they have an auto show in Detroit. And so I go to the auto show. And they're showing us the new Ford GT and all this other stuff. They know nothing about my crash. So at the end, the company goes upstairs and they're having a meeting and they say,
Starting point is 02:43:57 do you want to say something on the microphone? I'm like, no, I don't know what I'm going to say. I'm just happy to be here. So I go up on the mic and I don't have a speech prepared or nothing. I'm talking to all the executives and CEOs of the company Acura. The only thing that came to my mind was, this is how passionate I am about my Acura legend and how much I love it. I just got in an accident. A U-Haul hitch just detached from a fucking truck battle rammed my shit. And believe it or not, how much I have to pay for the damages is worth more than the actual car is right now. And then I came down from the podium and all the motherfucking top CEOs came up to me and said, we want to take your car and redo the whole goddamn thing.
Starting point is 02:44:34 We want to take that shit, redo the tires, the inside, the fucking, the sound system, the engine, the every, like the outside, candy paint. They took my car and they redid everything. And I still drive that shit till this day. Let's make some noise for people at Acura. Till this day, bro. Till this day.
Starting point is 02:44:54 Till this day. People at Acura. I ain't going to lie. I met my wife. She had an Acura. We got to start showing love to Acura. Acura, Acura, Acura. Yo, we taking you back in the hip hop community.
Starting point is 02:45:08 That's Japanese made. They take their time, man. That's Japanese made? They're Grand Seiko. That means they got a battery operated. Yeah. I'm sorry. That was a watch shit.
Starting point is 02:45:17 They still Japanese made, right? Yeah. Yeah, Honda. Yep, Honda. Exactly. Honda and Acura. Same people. So.
Starting point is 02:45:24 Same people. So Fast Honda. Exactly. Honda and Acura. Same people. So. Same people. So Fast and Furious. Who gave you that call? It was John Singleton. Oh, you said that already, right? But you know what? I'm glad you asked that because I was on tour with Eminem at the time.
Starting point is 02:45:40 This was after the OutKast tour. So I was on tour with Eminem. And I got a call. Slight flaw. Slight flaw. Yeah. So I got a call. Ilight flaws, slight flaws. Yeah, so I got a call. I'm about to go on stage in 20 minutes. I get a call from my agent saying, John Singleton wants you to put yourself on camera
Starting point is 02:45:52 to try out and read these lines for Too Fast, Too Furious. I'm like, man, what the fuck is going on? I'm about to go on stage. I'm concentrated on killing this crowd right now. So we get a camera together, because of course you got all type of production people backstage. There's no iPhones back there. No, none of that shit.
Starting point is 02:46:12 I'm looking at the lines and I'm like, okay, I got to come up and try and make this. Okay, let me get in character. Let me read these lines. Go through it a couple times. Now we're like 12 minutes before showtime. Fuck it. Just put me on camera. This is the best they're going to get right now because the motherfuckers was like, we need this shit by tomorrow.
Starting point is 02:46:23 Right. So I put myself on camera, out kill the stage the next day i'm not thinking i got the shit because i'm like ain't no way in hell like i rushed the shit out of this putting myself on tape nigga called me it was like you got the part the rest is history ladies and gentlemen now i'm sitting in my crib one day I don't know if it's Netflix or whatever But you and Latifah just come up End of the road, yeah I clicked that shit
Starting point is 02:46:54 Y'all niggas had me crying Really? Yeah, I ain't like the white boys Trying to get at y'all The white boys trying to get at y'all You and Latifah was like, get in the car. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You were in the car.
Starting point is 02:47:09 I'm trying to think, is that cry worthy, though? I don't know if it was cry worthy. Can you let me cry? Let him cry, bro. All right, okay. I'm sorry. Let me cry, man. I've been through some shit.
Starting point is 02:47:19 You know what? I respect that. I've been through some shit. I'm looking. He's been through some shit. I've been through some shit. Hey, you know what? I apologize. Yes, yes. I've been through some shit. I'm looking. He's been through some shit. Hey, you know what? I apologize.
Starting point is 02:47:26 Yes, yes. Listen, your emotions are validated, and I can't believe that I tried to do that to you. And by the way, let me just tell you something. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's how good you and Latifah are as actors. Right. Thank you.
Starting point is 02:47:38 I didn't look at y'all like I knew y'all. And I know both of y'all. That's dope. And I looked, and I felt so sorry. I was like, why is this white people bothering them? That means the world to me
Starting point is 02:47:51 just because that's our biggest goal is anyone in hip hop to not look at us as the hip hop artists in the movie. I can't. That's the biggest thing.
Starting point is 02:48:00 God damn it. That means the world. No, that means the world. No, no, no. For real. That means the world. No, but I watched that movie No, no, no. For real. That means the word coming from the book. I watched that movie
Starting point is 02:48:07 and I was like, holy moly, guacamole. Yeah. But that's, in me, in my opinion, that's what I couldn't do was like,
Starting point is 02:48:15 I couldn't like, identify those characters that I couldn't relate to. But for me, for you, Yeah. You're a real actor to me. Thank you, man.
Starting point is 02:48:27 You can actually do whatever the fuck you want to do. Bro, that crash, it fucked me up. For that to be my first official movie, and you in there with Don Cheadle, like we said, Terrence Howard, Sandra Bullock, Brendan Fraser, Lorenz Tate, who out in Washington fucking Minister Society and all these other things. It was nothing but A-list extreme actors in that movie. And here I am, this nigga, fresh off a Chicken and Beer album. And it was intimidating,
Starting point is 02:48:56 but I knew I had to step up to the goddamn plate. So I think that changed things for me, man. And like I said, that's why I take it so serious. And you had a Chicken and Beer in the airport. Oh yeah, in Bo's. It's in LAX now too. So it's in Atlanta, Harts Like I said, that's why I take it so serious. Right. And you had a chicken and beer in the airport. Oh, yeah. It's in LAX now, too. So it's in Atlanta, Hartsfield, Jackson, and in LAX airport. It's chicken and
Starting point is 02:49:11 beer restaurant for sure. Go check that out. Thank you. Thank you. Jackson? You said Jackson? Hartsfield, Jackson. That's Atlanta. Hartsfield, Jackson airport. Andrew Jackson. Come on. Now I'm Maynard Jackson. So it's Hartsfield. But Shaq, we know you don't want know. Come on now, Maynard Jackson. So it's Hartfield.
Starting point is 02:49:25 But Shocker, we know you don't want to shine, but can you sit down for us for one second? Shocker? Please, please. Yeah, come on, Shock. Please, for one second.
Starting point is 02:49:33 I mean, for me. Not for the world. For me, for me. Well, Shell. You know what? Give him some tequila. Give him some tequila. Oh, tequila?
Starting point is 02:49:44 Okay. And you got young niggas. I'm afraid. What's that shit called? For camera purposes, you're going to have to go like this, my brother. Yeah, you got to do that. You can't do that. There you go.
Starting point is 02:49:56 Now, you just got to face this way. God bless. God bless. There you go. I'm not used to this. I'm used to this shit. I know how it goes. Now, I just want to say something, Shaga,
Starting point is 02:50:04 because you're one of the greatest people I ever met in life. And what I would say, what you kind of alluded to is that there's energies in the world. And we come from a lot of different backgrounds and we have people that are intentional or we have intentional enemies that use our culture against us. Right. They use what we've done, what we've come from, who we are, the neighborhoods, the people we associate with against us. So we have to be very clear about who we are and whether that's our existence or our experience. I tell any young person, what you're going through is not who you are. And so at that point, if you can have integrity in any situation, when we talk in the long term, we're watching a lot going on right now. And you can only give me the grace and the benefit of the belief in me based upon my integrity through the situations and the years we've known each other.
Starting point is 02:51:11 Because if I'd have showed you another person, you'd have been like. So when we look at and we've talked about this a couple of times, he's called me. He's been like, thank you. And I'm like, what are you thanking me for? I thank him more than I'm along for the ride. I can't do something if something is not there. I can't make something out of nothing. But he's just, nah, just thank you for keeping me
Starting point is 02:51:34 in the space and the mindset of which I am. He had to navigate trap music, he had to navigate all of the other stuff to just be who he was. And it wasn't always the cool thing. But his integrity now, even in that situation, is paying off for him long term. So if I would tell anybody, youth, even old people, when we look at what we're dealing with
Starting point is 02:51:59 and we're trying to age gracefully, our integrity comes in play when we start thinking about 10, 20, 30 years later. And we see a lot of people being attacked for what they did 10, 20, 30 years ago. And we know what's right.
Starting point is 02:52:16 Even when it's cool. Hip hop. We live the life. Drink, travel the world. Just do it. So I appreciate the grace that was given to me. I think I'm going to speak some more. Luda, I'm sorry. No, you're good, bro.
Starting point is 02:52:33 Yeah, yeah. Come on, man. But you know why? Because I was going to say, let me just say what's so special about this podcast, and y'all are so used to it right now that you might be to a degree desensitized, but what I notice is the passion that comes from both of y'all are so used to it right now that you might be to a degree desensitized. But what I notice is the passion that comes from both of y'all, man. Like you can't fake when you look in somebody's eyes when they asking certain questions. And all of this shit is just so much passion.
Starting point is 02:52:54 And it's very hard to be able to transfer that when someone is looking on a fucking screen as opposed to being here. But what I'm saying is you two motherfuckers do very well at letting that shit transfer through the fucking screen of the passion and the love that y'all have. And that's what makes Dream Champ so goddamn special. Congratulations on that. Let me just say
Starting point is 02:53:19 from the beginning him, Jeff, they had your fucking back, bro. Like, I can't lie to you. I saw that shit from the beginning. Like... We all got each other's backs. Yeah, that shit is so beautiful.
Starting point is 02:53:36 Yeah, that shit is so beautiful, man. What is something that you regretted? What is somebody you had the chance to work with that you didn't have? We was just talking about the whole Dr. Dre. I wouldn't even call it regret because there's still a chance for this shit to happen. It's going to happen. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 02:53:52 But that's somebody I definitely want to work with. When we was talking about the whole death row versus bad boy thing, which is one of the hardest questions y'all asked me tonight. I love it. And I just thought about my experience as a kid growing up and me gravitating towards the sonics of what Dr. Dre does and going as far as wondering how this nigga got that shit to sound that amazing.
Starting point is 02:54:15 Right. That's somebody I would love to work with. And the Hitman and Bad Boy, they made shit sound amazing as well. Easy Mo B, all of the shit that Biggie did. Easy Mo B. Have you worked with Easy Mo B?
Starting point is 02:54:26 I haven't. I haven't. That's that SB12 love right there, baby. You still could do that right now. Analog. Come on, Easy Mo B, let's go. Analog. Yeah, hell yeah.
Starting point is 02:54:34 Let's go. He's done a record with Biggie post. Post and Tupac. Post, yeah. Post. And Jay-Z and Nas. And Jay-Z and Nas. Hell yeah.
Starting point is 02:54:44 Yo, I ain't gonna lie That's like rights to retirement Nah don't say that Nah nah nah I could never retire You know what I'm trying to say You never retire I got you
Starting point is 02:54:53 But what I'm trying to say is I don't have the accolades And I've been in this game 26 years Stop saying that though Cause you got motherfucking drink chance This shit done took a whole nother life For Norway Come on, bro.
Starting point is 02:55:05 It's okay. But what I'm trying to tell you is I want to give you your flowers, my brother. I got the motherfuckers. You done gave them to me right here. I got them. I received these bitches, bro.
Starting point is 02:55:13 Come on, man. Nah, nah, Luda. That's why you here. The reason why you know why is because I'm being honest, Luda. You're one of the greatest
Starting point is 02:55:24 of our culture. Absolutely. Wow. And the fact is, and the fact is, the fact is that you can be into six, seven different, everyone respect you.
Starting point is 02:55:40 From the gangsters, to the people who wear backpacks, to the people who take shots, to the people who wear Backpacks To the people who Take shots To the people who Shoot people To the people who Look at people
Starting point is 02:55:51 Who steal in To the people who Actually steal You're respected In every genre I'm a culmination Of my environment man And it's all of those things
Starting point is 02:56:01 But thank you man I'm telling you That shit means the world But you have to know that You have to know that That's love That's what In hip hop
Starting point is 02:56:09 That's what the fuck We strive to be Is accepted in all genres Cause you know what There's five elements To hip hop right So you can either break dance You can either graffiti
Starting point is 02:56:18 You can either rap You can either DJ It's not Excepted in all those genres. And that's what you are. Thank you, bro. Come on, man. No, no, no.
Starting point is 02:56:33 Look, I'm not playing around. This is what you are. Hold on. You got to sit big or don't count. Nah, I didn't really all the way believe y'all when you said you wanted me to be one of the first motherfuckers on here Now I fully believe this shit Because
Starting point is 02:56:48 I know we Virgo brothers I know we all that But That takes away everything From who you are As a real artist I'm going to say it. I said it.
Starting point is 02:57:06 I said it earlier. Who the fuck was jogging with me earlier? He was jogging with me. That's why he said no. And I was like, that was the difference between the versus battle. Was Ludo was seasoned. He was seasoned with Kevin Louds. He was seasoned with Leo Cole. We were seasoned with Kevin Louds, seasoned with
Starting point is 02:57:25 Leo Cole. We were foul people. What I mean by that is they sent you on the road that whole time and they made you know how to fucking perform a show. Yeah, they did to all
Starting point is 02:57:42 of us. So again, I'm sorry Dick and Nelly's my brother again. But when I seen, because versus, we were just sitting back home and we were just watching everything. And I sat back. As soon as I seen your face, you made that face earlier. I swear
Starting point is 02:57:58 to God. We got it on film. You made that face. I said this motherfucker's going to go crazy. Very good. You made that face I said This motherfucker's Gonna go crazy I know Like I know And I seen him And he We was playing We was playing
Starting point is 02:58:17 That nigga Joe Joe Button said The same thing By the way Oh he did I didn't know that To a degree He said the same shit
Starting point is 02:58:23 What did he say Come on please Pretty much what you said Yeah cause I ain't gonna lie I saw did? I didn't know that. To a degree, he said the same shit. What did he say? Come on, please. Pretty much what you said. Yeah, because I ain't going to lie, I saw your face. I didn't even know I was making a face.
Starting point is 02:58:30 Like, this shit is great to hear from a different perspective. And Nelly's my brother. Just to be clear. I love him. Nelly's my brother too, man. I looked,
Starting point is 02:58:39 I was like, yeah. Luda's going to snuff somebody tonight. What? I thought you were going to snuff somebody tonight. What? I thought you were going to snuff your own crew. I didn't even know that. That's how crazy you like them.
Starting point is 02:58:56 That's why I'm okay taking the jabs, bro, because none of them are death blows. It's okay. Somebody got to be the person that takes the jabs. Now, when I decide to hit back, then it might be unfair. It just depends. You can't hit back.
Starting point is 02:59:11 You know why you can't hit back? Why can't I hit back, Nori? I need to hear this. You know why you can't hit back? This is good. I really need to hear. Be honest with you. It's been like 15 years.
Starting point is 02:59:20 I ain't hit back. Because you are inspiration. You know why? You are inspiration. You're the people that we say, you know what? This guy said this,
Starting point is 02:59:30 but we don't want to respond because you know why? Who didn't respond? Then you're the good guy. Now you understand why I try to take the high road and always I'm cool because my core is strong
Starting point is 02:59:40 and I'm okay with taking these jabs because at the end of the day, I hope whatever it is that these motherfuckers that take jabs at me are trying to accomplish, I hope that they've accomplished that shit. You know why? Because it has not hurt or put a dent in my legacy or me in
Starting point is 02:59:55 any fucking way. So I allow them to do that because at the end of the day I still love these motherfuckers. There's still a certain amount of history that we have with each other that if I stand on a certain amount of morals and integrity and just love, I haven't come to a point where I'm wanting to do tit for tat and bicker and babble and go back and forth with motherfuckers. Because when I see you in person, it ain't shit like what the fuck you was just talking about on camera. It's totally different.
Starting point is 03:00:24 It's a dichotomy that I haven't fully understood yet. And I don't think that I'm going to understand it. 100%. You talking about being real? This whole industry is built off motherfuckers saying shit on camera. But then when they see you in person, it's something totally different. And I can say that I either am immature or too mature because I haven't fully grasped and understood that yet.
Starting point is 03:00:48 I'm still giving motherfuckers the benefit of the doubt. That's my problem. That's either my gift or my curse. That's what I'm saying. God damn. I'm just being real. I'm smoking another blunt. Sorry, Sean. I'm just being real. Let me expand on something that
Starting point is 03:01:04 Nori was saying, though. And just coming from the perspective of being from Miami, being a mixtape DJ out of Miami. One of the things that we was like from where I come from Miami, like the hip hop community I come from is like the early 90s. And we only wanted lyrical sensibility coming out of the South, right? That's what we strived for because everything was coming out of New York, right? And we were emulating that, but we wanted to be representative of the South. And you did that. Dungeon Family did that.
Starting point is 03:01:40 OutKast did that. You did that. That's what I want you to know, that you did that to the highest ability. That's love. That's huge. Thank you, bro. Huge. Huge. For real. Thank y'all, man. Representing hip-hop so much.
Starting point is 03:01:55 I'm just as passionate with my answers and receiving this love as y'all are saying it. I'm being real. Nah, because you deserve it, bro. I stay moving, man. I stay moving. Thank you. I'm being real not because you deserve it. We stay moving Thank you, I just mean honest man, um you your crew Um, I was saying this to everyone here You know pretty much everyone that was here. I
Starting point is 03:02:19 spoke to them before you came in I was just like This is a person. I to like give their flowers to. Y'all. It's because. Y'all really. And on a recent episode of Just Heal with Dr.
Starting point is 03:04:04 I laugh. You know, I love jokes. I still play like a kid. I laugh. You know, I love jokes. I love funny. I love laughing. I laugh at myself. I don't take myself too seriously. That's the stuff that keeps you young and stops you from being so hard. To hear this and more things on the journey of healing, you can listen to Just Heal with Dr. J from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 03:04:29 AT&T, connecting changes everything. I know a lot of cops and they get asked all the time, have you ever had to shoot your gun? Sometimes the answer is yes. But there's a company dedicated to a future where the answer will always be no. Across the country, cops called this taser the revolution. But not everyone was convinced it was that simple. Cops believed everything that taser told them. That means you didn't take it. Because look, mine's just done. Okay, okay. Her job is to refill my shots after I take them. That means I'm like five motherfucking shots ahead of you. Starting point is 03:07:00 Pull up You like skimmed motherfucker Food is amazing Food is amazing I love you Drake This motherfucker told us About drink champs He said I love you, Drake. And this motherfucker told us about Drink Chance. He said, I love food. Sent a bottle of red wine to the table.

Starting point is 03:07:16 He don't want me to drink. Yeah, yeah. Come on. Yeah, yeah. Yes, yes. I'm happy I remember that. He's going to take that one. That little one.
Starting point is 03:07:23 You have forgotten about that shit. No, no, no. Take your shit. No, no. Take your shit. No, no, no. She'm happy I remember that. Here, go take that one. You had forgotten about that shit. No, no, no. Take your shit. No, no, no. Take your shit. No, no, no. She got us. All right.

Starting point is 03:07:37 It's all good. It's all good. With you, Chaka. Hey, I'm going to need y'all to mold this and put it on a goddamn mantel somewhere. I want to compare myself to all other artists that come up here. I want to see how many shots motherfuckers take. Okay, so who drank the most? Yayo?
Starting point is 03:07:58 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Shit. Hey, man. Hands down to Tony Yayo. All respect. All respect. Wale? Wale went into it, yeah. Hands down to Tony Ayo. All respect. All respect. Wale? Wale went into it, yeah.
Starting point is 03:08:08 Respect. Wale. Hell yeah. That's what I'm talking about. That's crazy. But... Put me up there with the greats. Yes.
Starting point is 03:08:16 That's all I ask. We putting you up there with the greats. Holy moly. I got... Nigga, what time is it right now, bro? He got to go. He got to go do a show. I'm not even like... I want to stay, but I really have to get to a show.
Starting point is 03:08:27 No, he got to go do a show, bro. I got one more question. Because you guys, that's what the question is. One more drink or is it all my drink? One more. One more drink. Yeah, one more drink. One more drink.
Starting point is 03:08:43 Shit, that was with me and tp who the oh the fucking toke that's a t-pain bro yeah one more drink tone and poke produced that shit did you know that track masters wow one more drink wow yeah was that order to one of them i don't even put that together with t-pain t-pain i'm sure i'm pretty sure he did and then uh kat williams was in that video that shit was just fun, man. Goddamn. Yeah. I remember Kanye being in my home studio listening to that album because I'm sure we worked on something for it.
Starting point is 03:09:12 And he heard that out of all this other stuff that I was going to put up for singles. He was like, that's it right there. That's the fucking one. And One More Drink did what it had to do. That should be the Drink Champs theme song. What the fuck are we talking about right now? You're right.
Starting point is 03:09:26 Can we make a new version of it? We can if they just give me a little more. You got to remix it for us. Yeah, you got to make the beat.
Starting point is 03:09:32 We'll make it happen if they give me another check like they gave me for everyone. Come on. It'll be good. You're fucking us
Starting point is 03:09:37 up right now, man. Okay. You're going to make us go broke before. We're going to go with the good checks. And we spoke about
Starting point is 03:09:43 lovers and friends. That was my last question. But Luda, Shaka, I want to look at you brothers face to face, man to man, and tell y'all, thank y'all. Because not for what you did tonight. Tonight was, it's beautiful, right? That has nothing to do with it. What you did and your journey to be here
Starting point is 03:10:12 is so beautiful, man. Every hip-hop artist should be praised because you know what? God bless me for saying it like this, but I'm going to say it. A McDonald's worker, after he finishes McDonald's shift, he takes off his M,
Starting point is 03:10:37 his yellow shit, and he can go return back to regular life. An artist who doesn't make it or who makes it a little bit can never turn back to regular life. Even if he doesn't make it, you know what the people say to him? Bitch ass nigga.
Starting point is 03:10:58 You tried that. You tried to be better than us. But when an artist that makes it and tries to do that and then goes to that level, that hate is so crazy. That hate is so tremendous.
Starting point is 03:11:19 You summing up every nigga that ever took a shot at Ludacris ever in life. You literally summing it up. I'm talking about motherfuckers that I fuck with, people I don't fuck with, everything. I should have answered it that way. Let me put it in perspective.
Starting point is 03:11:33 What was I doing? What do you think the opposite of love is? Hate? No? Not at all. The opposite of hate. Oh, yeah. Love and hate is the same emotion from a different perspective.
Starting point is 03:11:47 What's the opposite? The opposite of love is indifference. When I don't give a fuck about you. Wow. Facts. When I don't care. When you mean nothing to me. People hate you.
Starting point is 03:11:58 When they love you so much, they'd rather you argue with them. They'd rather you engage them in negative action just so they could feel something. When people don't give a fuck about you, when I don't care about you, that's the opposite of love. Indifference. Wow. 100%. That's some real shit. Take that with you. For sure.
Starting point is 03:12:19 That's why I say most of the shit where niggas have issues with me, it's not what they're telling you on camera. It's something totally different. They love them. I wouldn't even go as far as to say that they love me. I would say that it's something totally different that they're not telling you. And I have enough respect
Starting point is 03:12:34 that if we have a history together, fuck anybody I don't have a history with. We can go toe to toe. You say something about me on a record, I'm hitting back. But anybody that I have a respect for, I'm hitting back But anybody that I Have a respect for I'm gonna I'm not gonna do the same shit that you're doing
Starting point is 03:12:50 I'm gonna try and take the higher road I'm gonna let you try and Get that shit off Has there ever been a situation where that Aspired where someone You felt like someone Came at you and you was like Let me relax
Starting point is 03:13:00 It happens all the fucking time That's what I'm saying It happens all the It's all towards what you just said, though. You know what I'm saying? And it also happens in the same sense of what he said. The opposite of motherfucking love is indifference. So if you still got my name in your mouth
Starting point is 03:13:15 and you still coming up with shit that we know that's not the real answer, that's not indifference. That's a... It's a indifference. That's a that's a it's a section of love. It's basically in the love category. That's all I'm saying.
Starting point is 03:13:34 Because guess what? I love these niggas, man. I love them. I love my haters. I love them, brother. Absolutely. Like I said, I pray for them. If that ain't love, I don't know what is. I don't been loving my haters. I love them, bro. I be like, why? Absolutely. Like I said, I pray for them.
Starting point is 03:13:48 If that ain't love, I don't know what is. No, I don't pray for my niggas, though. I don't like it. You don't do that? Nah, fuck them. You got to. I don't pray for them. I be like, all right, maybe me and you ain't agree. But pray for them.
Starting point is 03:14:01 Fuck them. Fuck them. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Nah, you good. I'm a different person. You just being real. Nah, that's all I'm saying. I'm a Nah you good I'm a different person I'm a different person Listen I love it bro
Starting point is 03:14:07 Yo but Shaka Thank you man So much Aluda Thank you Thank you so much man Because um This is real man
Starting point is 03:14:19 100% This is beautiful And I want y'all to know This is y'all platform Shaka you can You know come over here and promote your yellow shoelaces. No, anytime. Anytime. Yellow shoelaces, let's go.
Starting point is 03:14:35 Because you know what's crazy about it is, so many people are traditional of how they start promoting things. And the thing about it is, that's not what we are. We are just... Us. Us. Just come over here, get your briefcase, have some fun. Let's just do what the fuck we got to do because this is now hip-hop journalism.
Starting point is 03:15:04 I just seen Elliot Wilson. I seen just your eyes. Okay. But Elliot Wilson posted Sexy Rad. No, no, no. Nicki Minaj. And then he said this is hip-hop journalism. And he was a hater.
Starting point is 03:15:21 It's one million percent. That was... I didn't see it, but I know Nicki Minaj's album is dope to me. It's dope to me too. But the point is that's not what we're doing. What we're doing is we're saluting hip-hop.
Starting point is 03:15:38 That's all we're doing. This is what we're about. I don't know what everyone else is doing. It's only about saluting hip-hop. We're about saluting hip-hop. We're about saluting hip-hop. About continuing to make sure hip-hop goes to that fucking next level.
Starting point is 03:15:55 And Luda, Shaka, all you guys. Shout out to Jeff. Jeff. Jeff, we love you. Jeff, all you guys, bro. You are the definition of loyalty. You're the definition. And respect.
Starting point is 03:16:10 You're the definition of what started is what ended. And not to say y'all's legacy is ended. I'm not saying that. But what I'm saying is so far, for y'all to still continue to be together is something that we all have to salute.
Starting point is 03:16:28 Every man here. I seem to forget it. And y'all continue to be here? Uh-uh.
