What it could be, hope you're still with us. It's your boy N-O-R-E. What up, it's DJ EFN. Another time of Crazy Royal Podcast, make some noise. Hey!
Starting point is 00:03:16 Drink chance, baby. We are so happy to have this woman from across the pond. But she's here now. Across the pond. Yo, why? You hear me? Why? You're getting me.
Starting point is 00:03:31 Bro, I gotta do it. I gotta do it. Bro. Oh, here we go. Bro, I gotta do it. So across the pond, this's a legend of amongst legends hits upon hits We can't talk about her without calling her icon a legend a
Starting point is 00:03:56 Person that we have to Lay out the flowers when she walks in the room In case you don't understand or know who the hell we fucking talking about. We talking about this guy over there! Right there! The man over there! Hi.
Starting point is 00:04:13 You, you, you, you, you, bro. Yeah. God, I'm so sorry. I feel like I'm from the UK. Okay. Is that messed up? Because I know I fucking be up action Everyone does everyone does that's okay. Okay. No, we sound southern when we try to do American accent. So it's very strange
Starting point is 00:04:32 It's okay. We're taking and there's different accents over there, too A dozen yeah, so if I say bro, I'm fucking up What do you go to say normal So if I say bruv, I'm fucking up? No. You can say bruv. I understand. All right. What are you going to say? I'm going to talk normal. I ain't doing that. I'm going to have a shot of, uh, Jamie. Are you going to drink?
Starting point is 00:04:58 I am drinking. What are you drinking? I'm drinking Sir Davis and a cup of ginger ale. I should have mixed it up. Hold on. Hold on. She's fl on us, Sir Davis. That's Beyonce shit. You know, I'm a brown liquor girl.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Really? I am, I am. So, so, so, Hennessy is your style? Not Hennessy. No Hennessy, okay. I know I say it on one of my songs. Whiskey? Whiskey, Scotch, that's my deal.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Okay, all right, so what kind of whiskey? All right, so it's stages to it. So it's McCallan. It's... McCallan, that's that's that's... I start McCallan. Stage five. Okay, that's my stage one. Drinkers drink.
Starting point is 00:05:34 Yeah, you know I know that. Yeah, if I drink, I'm drinking. Right. You know, and then there's Oban if I'm being fancy and outside, low key. And then, you know, I stick around those two. So Davis is a new addition to the scenario. I like the taste of it. It hits where it hits in.
Starting point is 00:05:47 You know it feels good. So Davis is fantastic. It's great. Okay, let's get straight to it. Yeah. You had Kanye on your... Here you go. There you go.
Starting point is 00:05:56 She's really into the band-aid. Let's talk about it. Let's just get straight to it. Yeah. Hey man, we had Kanye on here. Yeah, your friend. Did you say my friend? I like that. What. Yeah. Hey, man, we had Kanye over here. Yeah, your friend. Did you say my friend? I like that. Yeah. Is that controversy having somebody that's controversial? Yes. On
Starting point is 00:06:15 your record? Is it is that? No, because at the end of the day, it's my record. Right. And it was always my record. And I performed it. It's my record. And, you know, I feel like the point of the record was joy. The point of record was happiness. The point of record was legacy. Like I prayed for it to be this kind of record. So I can't focus on what doesn't feel like that anymore just because it doesn't feel like that anymore.
Starting point is 00:06:38 I have to move with what the record is. And to me, people's kids, kids, kids, like I have grandparents, like I was, when your song came out and my grandkids like, oh man, and I'm just like, that's what we did it for. So, you know, I feel like when God moves, you can't really, you can't get caught up in whatever doesn't fit the mold in the moment, is my point. So I don't really focus on that, I don't worry about that.
Starting point is 00:07:01 And I've been singing it myself, my way, and promoting it for 17 odd years since it's been out. Yeah, that's my dream. And that's my song. Yeah. By the way, that was the perfect answer. Because look, we're all humans and I like people will be on their journey. That's the other thing I say people are on their journey. I was on mine before I came here. He was on his before we got together and did that record. He's on his now and I'm still on mine.
Starting point is 00:07:30 And I can't, I'm not the judge. No, so I have to ask you the same thing I asked Gigg. Yeah. Oh, we had him last week. And I didn't realize that America is just as mean to you guys as they are to us. Because I didn't realize when I tried to enter the UK, how mean they were to me. But then they are mean to y'all like that, the same way.
Starting point is 00:08:02 What do you mean mean? Like what are they saying when you travel. Yeah, when you're traveling back and forth. Yeah. I think any border, thank you, I think any border, anywhere, any place. And I hate to generalize this because you're talking about the UK, but like their job is to be mean at the borders, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:08:18 Like, their job is to... They know that. Yeah, they're... To screen people, right? To screen people. Like, I go to Canada, that's a whole other... Oh no, Canada is the meaning. Beast. And people wore me, and then The screen people, like I go to Canada, that's a whole other- Oh no, Canada's the meaning.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Beast, and people wore me, and then I was like, oh no, oh okay, well, I'm here to do this, thank you. I wish I knew Drake back then. You know what? Like I wish, like- Drake is glorious. Did you know Drake back then? No.
Starting point is 00:08:40 I'm not sure he would've let us help us through the door there anyway. Ah! I'm not sure he would have let us through the door anyway. Jesus Christ. I'm sorry. It's kind of their job, but you have to also be calm. And we travel a lot. So I have like, I said between me and my team, we figured out I have a master's degree in just being like,
Starting point is 00:09:01 I'm here for this. I'm not going to be laid down, but also I'm here to do my job. Did you say you have a master's degree? Like a master's degree in being calm. Did we have a master's degree in Russia at one point? In being calm? We went through some shit in Russia. They treated us pretty crazy over there.
Starting point is 00:09:23 Yup, they'll do it. I was thinking about that. I was in, we was in Russia with my team and we saw like maybe we counted the amount of black people we saw there. Oh, that's what he said. That was a thing. No, he even said because you said it. Wasn't that a thing?
Starting point is 00:09:35 And you just be so happy like, hi, hi. Like when you see him. Yeah. Girl, you say, I'm not, excuse me. That's you saying. It was wild. Oh no, what happened? No, it was crazy because when we landed in Russia,
Starting point is 00:09:48 we had a guy. We say the story often. And we had a guy that said, his tag said, Russians against racism. That was the people that brought us out there to do a show. And we're like, oh, this place, we're fucked. So if you have to say that, you understand? It's a thing.
Starting point is 00:10:03 So what was one of the craziest places you performed that you didn't know? Lebanon. Wow. Yeah. But Lebanon, they got so far so good. It was Lebanon, right? Hold on. No, Beirut.
Starting point is 00:10:20 Yeah, Beirut and Lebanon. Yeah, I think that's the capital. So this is the part where you realize we don't get as much information and news via general news sources as we should or we're not paying attention. Right. Because I go, we went to perform, half my team were like, nah, found different excuses not to come. So I end up going with my DJ and a couple of dancers and we go out and I'm like,
Starting point is 00:10:44 this isn't that bad. It's okay. The hotel they put us in was beautiful. And then we walk out onto the patio and it's like the bullet riddle building. Oh yeah. It's nothing. No, but it was just like, it was really, it was still the remnants of like the ongoing war out here that isn't stopping, that isn't showing any signs.
Starting point is 00:11:04 Well, how recent was it that you were there? Well, it was 10, 12 years ago. Yeah, the stuff was big. It was still going on. So to me, it was just like, oh, we really are outside in the world. But it was that and it was that. And then we ended up performing. The venue was beautiful.
Starting point is 00:11:17 I didn't know what to expect. The people are great, too. It's crazy. Yeah, the people are amazing. And we ended up performing at the top of this venue that was like the most incredible skyline you could see. And I was standing on the bar. It was just glorious. Standing on chairs, it was wild. It felt like here, or London. But we're in Beirut, at the top of a building.
Starting point is 00:11:38 And the building next door has definitely got bullet holes all in through it. It was crazy. It was just like a, ah! It was mad. I got to take a shot for you. Thank you. Are we doing the flowers? Yes, let's go. Let's give it to them. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Our show is about giving people their flowers where they can smell them, thoughts where they can tell them. Thank you. Their drinks where they can drink them. Amen. And their things where they can thank them. Okay. And we're going to give him. Amen. And they things where they could think him. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:05 And we're going to give you your flowers. We will. Oh my God. My roses. This is very cool. Yes. Snoop Dogg said it's better than a Grammy because it's company people.
Starting point is 00:12:18 It really is. It is. And I'm honored. This is a big deal for me right now. Like people don't think I do shit. Like I'll be outside, you know. So this is a big deal for me right now. Like people don't think I do. Like I'll be outside a little like, you know. So this is a big deal. Thank you. Look, I should just put it right here. Now, you don't smoke, right? Do you?
Starting point is 00:12:36 I do. OK. Thank you. Just in case. OK. Not just in case. You can partake if you like. Just in case. He hit the slide. Thank you. Oh, if you like. Just in case. He hit a slide. Thank you. They're so perfect.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Thank you. So I would like you to describe the UK scene, right? I'm so sorry. Yeah. I have to ask this. Yeah. I'm looking on the UK scene. Recent comments.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Is it safe out there? It's safe. It's not. It's not. It's not. I say this. Same-ish different currency. I could press. Same shit different currency.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Wherever you go, there's your drama. Right. If you don't start, nothing won't be nothing. If you act like you know where you're from, you know what the rules are. There's gangsters everywhere. There's gangsters everywhere. You know what the rules are. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:13:21 How do we get to Sherlock Holmes? You're going to get every reference to the UK. This is crazy. Oh my God. How do we get to share the homes? We're talking about like safe areas to like the 1865. I'm like damn, because you know, London always showed me love. I played the best hood OT with Tim Westwood. I said that back in the day, but holy moly guacamole. Now I'm scared. Why? Because they chop off the man demand. I'm like, I'm not going to do that.
Starting point is 00:13:30 I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it.
Starting point is 00:13:38 I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it. I said that back in the day, but holy moly guacamole. Now I'm scared. Why? Because they chop off the man to man. Are you sure?
Starting point is 00:13:51 You're fine. They're not chopping off your hand. You're fine. Am I good at what's it called? Nando's. You're good at Nando's. This is why there's like a run of places. People think I'm the restaurant master. Lowkey I am to my friends, but I have a list. Tell us the restaurants we good at. Well, there's a few of them, there's a lot of, but there's a lot in there, it's all specific, right? But my whole thing is like,
Starting point is 00:14:14 go to Nando's if you're in London, that's a safe bet. That's your version of church's chicken, that's your version of like whatever food, what's the one, oh, someone out here, I forget the name of it. Oh, Popeyes, no? Not Popeyes, oh no. Miami, Miami finger licking?
Starting point is 00:14:30 Finger licking, yeah, it's like, you know you're gonna get good food, you're good to go. You're gonna get good food. Shout out to Popeyes. Shout out to Popeyes, he fast. Yeah, that's my thing. Okay, and now what are you drinking? I'm drinking Sir David's with some ginger ale.
Starting point is 00:14:43 I gotta ask again. What are you drinking? I'm drinking Sir David's with ginger ale ale. What are you doing? I gotta ask again. What are you drinking? I'm drinking Sir David's with ginger ale. I should be doing ginger ale, but I need a mix. You want it straight? I need a mix. No, no. You want it neat?
Starting point is 00:14:53 I should. I feel like that's how I should drink it, but can I do it neat? It's a little bit ice. Maybe you have that one as a chaser on the side. Yeah, that's it, yeah. Man, I ain't gonna. I'm trying to be tame in the middle of the day. Oh.
Starting point is 00:15:05 Okay. All right. Let's go there, right? Oh, Lord. What's your favorite place to perform at? Oh, God. All right, in the US, and I feel like I performed everywhere.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Yeah, but maybe Arizona. Maybe I don't wanna, maybe, no, no, no, no, everywhere maybe Arizona. Maybe Arizona? No, no, no, no. Everywhere but Arizona. Thank you. I have performed everywhere but Arizona. Let me finish this. But my favorite place, I feel like, it's a cross between New York and Oakland.
Starting point is 00:15:39 Yeah. Wow, that's... That is my number two. One of the number two markets. Oakland? Yeah. Wow, that's a different one. That is one of the number two markets. Oakland. Yes, yes. Yeah. And of course between Philly though.
Starting point is 00:15:47 Philly's number one. Philly, Oakland and- The Bay Area. The Bay Area. The Bay Area, yeah. Same thing. They know music like London. It's different.
Starting point is 00:15:55 Yeah. It's different. I'll be out there like- A lot of culture out there. A lot. And I can do reggae. I can do, you know, I don't stay in any genre. I can do whatever I want.
Starting point is 00:16:03 It's a whole, it's open to me. It's open to me. It's open to me. It's open to me. It's open to me. It's open. It's different. I'll be out there like a lot and I can do reggae. I could do, you know, I don't stay in any genre. I could do whatever I want. It's a whole, it's open to me. Well, now you're close over there because we were talking before and she moved to LA. Yeah, you moved to LA. I moved to LA. I said, same as Chicago, I want to see LA. I'm in LA. Well, what's the bricks that move? Well, the bricks, like, it feels like South. You know, the niggas went.
Starting point is 00:16:24 No, Brexit. Brexit. Yeah. The Brexit move. The niggas went solo, right? Why did they go solo? They went solo. They don't want to be in the group anymore. Yo, no, no.
Starting point is 00:16:32 There's no way you're drinking that. It's soup. There's no way. It's a sip. There's a, oh, there you go. Yeah, this is it. This is it. This is good.
Starting point is 00:16:41 That's hilarious. All right. The Gator the Flowers. Is it Quick Thomas' song? Let's go. Quick Thomas' song. Let's do it. Let's go. You gave her the flowers. Is it Quick Time of the Flowers? Let's go. Quick Time of the Flowers. Let's open up the can of worms. Oh, Lord. I almost expected you to be split for it.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Have you watched, have you ever seen them? OK. I'm so scared. I got that same shirt, Has. All right. So just explain the rules, which we never explained right, but you kind of already know them. We're going to give you two choices.
Starting point is 00:17:04 If you pick one, we're going to give you two choices. If you pick one, we're not drinking. If you say both or neither, you don't want to answer, then we all take a shot. All of us. I'm just beginning to begin. I'm scared. And really what we want you to do with these choices is give us stories. This is not really the diss anyway.
Starting point is 00:17:21 Just give us some stories. Oh no, this is, I mean, it's up to y'all, but this is fine. This is not really the diss anymore. Just give us some stuff. Mm-hmm. Oh, no, this is, I mean, it's up to y'all, but this is fine. It's whatever you're comfortable with. Yes, it's good. All right, are we ready? Mm-hmm. Kanye or Will.i.am? Ooh, producer-wise?
Starting point is 00:17:38 It's whatever. It's whatever? You're in your mind. Maybe one makes macaroni better. I love your face right now. I love her face right now. Maybe one mixed macaroni better. I love your face right now. I love her face.
Starting point is 00:17:48 Will.i.am. He doesn't get enough props. He's brilliant. He's an incredible producer. And he lives in the future for real. He lives in the A.I. world for real. He lives in the A.I. world for real. I'll fuck you inside. He ends down la Raza for real. And he's definitely Mexican.
Starting point is 00:18:03 He's a Blacksican. Yeah. He is. He's a Black Mexican. He's brilliant. Amy Winehouse or Whitney? Oh man, come on now. Whitney.
Starting point is 00:18:13 So Whitney broke barriers. Yeah. I got it. Yeah, for sure. Do you ever get to meet her? I did. Yeah? You got to meet Whitney?
Starting point is 00:18:20 Oh, please tell. Just real quick, my friend was doing PR for her and it was backstage somewhere and it was just like, this, hi, you know, I was like, hi baby. And they just kept it, like she's, she was genuine. Yeah, she's a genuine human, like the love you saw in the videos and whatnot. Like I don't think that any of it was shaky.
Starting point is 00:18:40 I think it was actually real, you know? And the more we get to know about her from her friends and from her people, the more you're just like, yeah, I would have loved to have been like in the mix in the 90s and the 80s when she was here because like she'd have given you so much information, so like so cool about it. I don't know. So Whitney's memory. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:00 What about Amy Winehouse? I love Amy too. Like I love her too. Yeah. What about Amy Winehouse? I love Amy too. I love her too. Yeah. We both kind of started, her records came out before my first album came out, but we were all on the same open mic scene. And we would see each other as things were moving around. And we had genuine love for each other.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Like are you okay? Looking at it in the eyes. So I was annoyed. I will say that when I would see her performing, like not herself or, you know. I would be like, somebody come, what do you all do? What is that? Yeah. And so that would annoy me, but, you know, things happen. Everything is perfect. Everything in order. That's the first time I kind of like saw Nas, like take up for artist. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Like I don't know if you all seen that, like Nas like really like took up for artist. Yeah, he loved her. I believe we were all Virgos. I believe I'm a Virgo. Yeah. I believe she's a Virgo and I believe I'm a Virgo. I believe she's a Virgo and I believe Nas is a Virgo. So, uh.
Starting point is 00:20:06 Yeah. Huh? Oh, Mr. Lee, we didn't even ask you. It's me. No. We want you. Oh, the Virgos. Virgos.
Starting point is 00:20:15 You're a Virgo born in doom. You gotta relax. Wow. Salud, I'm sorry. One for Amy, thank you for the show. Ah, come on, why is this taking so long? This thing is ancient. Still using yesterday's tech?

Starting point is 00:21:26 I wanted to throw up. I wanted to scream. It happened in Levittown, New York. But reporting the series took us through the darkest corners of the Internet and to the front lines of a global battle against deepfake pornography. This should be illegal, but what is this? This is a story about a technology that's moving faster than the law and about vigilantes trying to stem the tide.

But in 2014, the youngest of the girls escaped and sparked an international manhunt. For all those years, you know, he was the predator and I was the prey. And then he became the prey. Listen to The Turning River Road on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Rick Ross or French Montana?
Starting point is 00:24:13 Rick Ross, I did a record with him. He was very sweet to me on set. He he might save my life a little bit from falling off a ledge I had on Hills this high. And he was like, don't worry, you got it. So we sound crazy when I do he was like, don't worry, you got it. And I was like, okay. So he said, we sound crazy when I do that.
Starting point is 00:24:27 He was like, don't worry, you got it. That was the accent. That was the accent. Really? So he was like, we did break my heart and we were on the ledge of a pool. Chris Robinson directed the video. It was an incredible director. Yeah, love him.
Starting point is 00:24:42 And I was in my Charlotte Olympia with this high, it's ridiculous, but you know, fashion. So I was like sliding, sliding. I was like trying to do the darts and I kept being like, I'm going to bust my ass. I know I'm going to die. I'm going to die. I'm going to fall backwards. He was like, don't worry. You got it. It's okay. I sound like him. So we got to rig it up. Hey home team right here. I sound like him, of course. So we going Rick Ross. Yeah, we going Rick Ross. We going Rick Ross. We going Rick Ross. And he home team right here.
Starting point is 00:25:07 He's home team. Nas or LL? She's always... That's the light skin academy. The light skin academy? Yeah, it's the light skin academy, yeah. You're a complexion, you know? I'm brown skin, I can't be involved.
Starting point is 00:25:20 Okay, I feel like Nas is in your range, you know? No, Nas is my brother. Okay. Ay-ay- No, Nas is my brother. Okay. Ay-yi-yi, this is tough. Oh, this is tough because I kind of like, so the parameters for me is like, when you get to the either ors are, you wouldn't be here if it wasn't for that person kind of thing. Like just in ages, right?
Starting point is 00:25:42 That is such a great way to break it down. That's just a little automatic. You're going with it, but I'm still late. You said you's such a great way to bring it down. You're going with it, but I'm still late. You said you were your own, but I understand. No, I think. I'm going to say both I love L.L. and what he's still for, but I also like I'm I'm a Nas fan.
Starting point is 00:26:01 Should be like I was out there like the jeans put me in like they want a hat. Right. I was I was out there like, the jeans, put me in like they want a hat, right? I was like, I was in it, like, you know, the Feast theme. I was in it from the first album, it was like, like. Yeah, bruh. All the way. He's a diehard. Like, I was like, yeah, I had the albums on CD, like, you know, like it was, so I'm a fan of lyricism is the point here.
Starting point is 00:26:24 And to me, he's, you know. that he know what you deserve to have both. Come on. OK, let's go. Let's go. Sir, let's go. He said. Uh huh. Oh, this mama one is especially. Yeah, you're sorry. Mama Juana. Oh, you're this. You're a little more? What does that do?
Starting point is 00:26:46 Does a lot of dance. I'm too young. I'm about to be too young? OK, OK, OK, say less. Do not entertain it. OK, bet. Giggs didn't. Giggs, I gave him a bottle.
Starting point is 00:26:54 You like it? You like it? That's the first person that said, I'll take a bottle of that. Wait, what brand is that? No, this is homemade. What does it do? Tell me.
Starting point is 00:27:02 You hear what he said? OK, OK. Homemade. Got you, got you.? Okay. Homemade. Got you, got you. Say that. By feet. She's asking if you want to try this.
Starting point is 00:27:09 No, no, no thanks. Somebody said by feet. It's fine. No, no. That's not true. He makes the story up. I definitely make the story up. Every island actually makes a form of this.
Starting point is 00:27:17 Okay. It's like the stuff that they put the roots and they bury it underground. Oh, okay. And then you pour it, usually from. Okay, got you. Fermented roots is what it is. Got you, got you, got you. Just keep the feet what it is. Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. Just keep the feet in your mind.
Starting point is 00:27:26 You know what? But he made up the story and the guy in Mexico, why does he keep saying that? He's saying what? I go, he's just rumbling to make a video where people are doing that. Listen, my sister, stop. So then I might need a bottle,
Starting point is 00:27:34 like I might need a bottle to take home. My sister, leave the feet in your mind. Okay, he said don't do it. No, but you think I'm gonna drink feet juice right now? Yeah. He's been drinking feet juice for a long time. For a long time. Okay, okay. Feet juice right now? Yeah. He's been drinking feet juice for a long time. For a long time. Good.
Starting point is 00:27:45 Good. Um. Feet juice. That's crazy. Feet juice. Beyoncé or Rihanna? Oh, man. We're definitely drinking.
Starting point is 00:27:55 Yeah, we are. Because like, no, I'm a tough. It's very tough for me. This is tough. It's very tough for me. Beyonce, because Legacy, she's been doing this since he was a whole child. She was actually like early teenager. Yeah, that's these child.
Starting point is 00:28:21 Yeah, that's a long time to be doing this. Yeah, it's a long time. be doing this. Like a long time. And doing it at an excellent space every single time. Like really, every single time. Whole albums and believing in theirself. And it's not just what we see, it's the business I look at too. When it comes to her and I think it's brilliant. I think it's encouraging, it's affirming.
Starting point is 00:28:43 What did she pick? She wanted a drink. It's affirming. She picked. She wanted a drink. Yeah, she was. We're drinking anyway. She picked two excellent. She picked a drink. She picked an excellent. Yeah. But business-wise, I will say also say- Those are British blunts.
Starting point is 00:28:56 These are British blunts. Yeah. Why are they British blunts? I don't know. Wait, hold on. Business-wise, I will also say shout to Rihanna and that billion dollar deal. That was amazing.
Starting point is 00:29:03 Rihanna's been masterful. Go ahead. Yeah. She was very clear. Yeah. I like a clear person. I like a very focused artist. Like I came here to do this. I'm doing this. And she's smoking nuts. And I'm doing this. She smokes real nuts.
Starting point is 00:29:14 I'm with it. This makes me so happy, by the way. Thank you. You know I'm taking this with me. Okay. Cool. Yes, please. Thank you. Appreciate that. Please. Because you are the queen. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:29:23 We need you to be. Good. Excellent. Thank you. We need you to be... Good. Excellent. Thank you. All right, you ready? Cardinal Fischar or Giggs? We drink. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:34 Shout out to both of them. They're both Dream Chants alumni. Cardinal's the homie. Giggs became the homie. Yeah, Cardinal's my brother. I love what Giggs has been on since day one. And I think I would like to hear them both on the record together.
Starting point is 00:29:46 I don't even think on the record together, am I bugging? So you said both is what you're saying? Yeah, I would like to hear them both on the record together. I don't think they've been on the record together. I'm going to take a shot for that. So we making that happen, Dream Chess, they got to do a record together. Yeah, I think that would be amazing.
Starting point is 00:30:00 Got a flying here? Compilation. Ooh. Spelling. I don't, I don't. No, he said spelling. Salute. He said that, salute. You got a flying compilations. Oh, I don't know. No, he says, so I took my sip. We get.
Starting point is 00:30:11 Yeah, they'd be good. I've known Cardi from since like I was 20 and I think he's one of the lyricists just a vibe like to like and a good beyond the music a good solid person. I've known since I know he's a half my life. Yeah, good human. Like so yeah, I got a song out too right now so yeah yeah it does yep yeah all right sam smith or harry styles why y'all doing this to me it's a terrible it This is wild. What is that drink again? What'd you say? Mama Juana. Maybe I want to try some of that.
Starting point is 00:30:45 Try some of that. Jamie. This is wild. You want to take a? The feet juice. I'm going to try the feet juice. Try the feet juice. I'm absolutely avoiding the question.
Starting point is 00:30:54 I'm absolutely avoiding the question. Definitely not from feet. I'm sorry. I apologize. I know. Let me think. Pick up the guy who makes this. Mama Juana King.
Starting point is 00:31:04 That's it. Mama Juana King. That's it. Mama Juana King. He thinks that I make feet. No, I told him no with it. Make a commercial. You got some sexy daddy stomp in the tongue. But you still have ass.
Starting point is 00:31:14 Yeah. I know. I know. Waiting for you. Ooh. She's like, it's all right. I'm trying to dodge the whole scenario. Oh, she's trying to dodge.
Starting point is 00:31:22 This drink is so lovely. You said Sam Sibble had... The other day, I was in the bathroom. I was like, I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'm trying to dodge the whole scenario. Um. Oh, she's trying to dodge. This drink is so lovely. You said Sam Smith. The, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah I know I have to give an answer. Can I come back to that one? Sure. Never happened on Drink Champ. I said no. Can I come back to it? Okay, what's the question?
Starting point is 00:31:48 Sam Smith, Harry Styles. All right, we'll come back. Please. We've never done that. We've never done that. First time ever on Drink Champ. Okay. Make us come back to it, don't forget that.
Starting point is 00:31:57 He said please. She's hoping we don't come back. Oh, please. All right, SWV or Escape? SWV. Yeah, I wanted to be able to sing like Coco when I was young my whole life and then I realized that's not my range. And um, but SWV like, unreal.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Um, since I was a kid. It's wild to me that like being 12 or 15 and listening to their records and like, you know, when you're in your room and you're like, and then you meet them later and you're just like, you look the exact same. Yeah. You know, in my head. And they're exactly who they are. It's wild. It's like, I haven't met them, like, I met all my heroes essentially is what I'm saying. And it's just like, oh, this is, this is the thing. SWB. They're one of the best. Okay. Yes.
Starting point is 00:32:43 She don't have to drink. There you go. Shit, my bad. I definitely want They're one of the best. Okay. Yes. She don't have to drink. There you go. Shit, my bad. Definitely want SWV and Escape on Drink Chance. Yeah. They legends. Phil Collins or Elton John? Elton John.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Outfits. They both from UK, right? Outfits. Outfits. That's it. I mean, no, Phil Collins was out here. Now, here's what I had to... Phil Collins was out here. Now, here's what had to... Phil Collins was out here.
Starting point is 00:33:06 He was out here. And Can't Hurry Love was his joint. Can't hurry love. I sing Can Gorilla. I don't know why, because as a child you mix things up. And then I realized that Can't Hurry Love wasn't his record. And then Diana Ross apparently wasn't really happy with it. Well, it wasn't.
Starting point is 00:33:21 It was the Supremes. And she wasn't happy with that whole scenario, because, you know, it felt like taking our records and saying, I read in the interview, she was like, what is? But that kind of took it down a couple notches for me after I heard that with Phil Collins. But covers the covers, it is what it is. You know, but yeah, El and John outfits, day one. Amazing. He still, he'll be killing them out to this day. Day one amazing. He still he'll be killing them. Yeah to this day. Oh, he was and he was like He performs No, I'll jump you yeah, I'm seeing here's a radio show you remember this I heard a little story with him and bone thugs Yeah, you heard that story where they did a he they asked to do a track or something would sample him and they said, well, I gotta be in the song.
Starting point is 00:34:05 Studio session, yeah. And Bill Collin? Yeah. Brandi or Monica? Oh, I just answered this question. I love them both. I know what it takes, somewhat what it takes to be who they are in this industry.
Starting point is 00:34:18 I love Monica because of her, the way she came out. I started as a rapper. So to me, Monica- You started as an MC? Yeah. I started as a rapper. So to me, Monica- You started as an MC? Yeah. I didn't know that. Have you run down your rug? I feel like you've punched somebody in the face before.
Starting point is 00:34:30 What? That's what people be doing? You're an MC. No, no. You still spin. I have people to do that for me. You still got bars? I do, but I'm not going to do it here. But yeah, I rapped on it. I started- my first
Starting point is 00:34:43 song in the UK was a song called 1980. My first album and that's the record that took everything off that even put me on the radar of anybody. And you know, I rapped along shine and I rap on pretty much every single album, but I just happen to sing too. So people pick what they want. Right. And they label you but I do both.
Starting point is 00:35:01 Yeah, yeah. So you're doing some Lauryn Hill shit. I'm on some Estelle shit. Yeah. Lauryn's on some Lauryn shit. I'm just saying, but you could have done Lauryn. And what I'm saying is you could have had that same kind of career where you were doing both.
Starting point is 00:35:13 That was the early reference. I came out after she was out, so it makes sense. But I always give up to Lauryn, because again, she walked so I could try to run. She did both so I could even think about saying, oh, I sing a little bit and I rap a little bit or I can do this fully and I can do that fully, whichever way it goes. So I always give up to learn. Well, American Boy is a singing song is what it is, you know, and people take you from the first reference they see you. I don't have anything to do with that. Tom Hardy or Jason Statham. Why would you all do this to me?
Starting point is 00:35:51 The fine action white boys, huh? This is scary. You got to go home. Tom Hardy. He's in, he's in, what's the show he's in? What's the new? Mobland. Yeah, scary. He's in, he's in, what's the show he's in? What's the new? Mobland. Mobland? Yeah, scary. He's really scary in that. I don't watch it. I've seen clips and
Starting point is 00:36:11 I'm like, all right, too many people died too disastrously. So, but Tom Hardy. Oh, yeah, Tom Hardy, big fan. You like him. Yeah, scary. The Beatles or the Rolling Stones? Oh my god. Rolling Stones. That's Mick Jagger, right? Yeah. I just like that he's like still kicking, like still going for it. He's like, you know, you know what I find if you keep living enough or people keep living around your music, you start hearing all the folklore, but you start hearing the truth about how records were produced.
Starting point is 00:36:50 Right. And there's a couple of Beatle records that I really love. Yeah. But then there's a couple I'm just like, you don't even know. We've heard a lot of crazy stuff about them. Yeah. So my whole thing is like, I like the Rolling Stones. I like the way that they're still performing.
Starting point is 00:37:03 They're still doing their thing. And I'm good friends with J Jager, but that's separate to just I like their way, their family way, the way that they are as humans. Right. But I just like that, I just like their energy, his energy. He's very much like, I'm here when I'm here. Right. And I'm home when I'm home. Again, that's my aesthetic.
Starting point is 00:37:23 I'd be outside and then I'd be in the house. Identify with that. Yeah, it feels truthful. No, it does. Yeah, I see what you're saying. Bruno Mars or Chris Brown? Nah, it's gonna be Chris Brown. Again, he walked so anybody could ply. But also I think Bruno is a once in a generation talent. He practiced, he did his work and he's brilliant. Since then, both of them were young.
Starting point is 00:37:49 Yeah, seems like Bruno was hella young, like a baby. It's just different levels of exposure, different ages of exposure. Right. But watching Chris still be just fricking amazing. Yeah. Performance wise. Like young Michael Jackson. Yeah, that's true. And you could see that. Yeah performance wise like young Michael Jackson You could you could see that yeah That's something else and then Bruno songwriting with his team the way he writes and the way he thinks about writing songs
Starting point is 00:38:12 He doesn't reinvent the wheel and he does it so well. Yeah, that's always my thing. Like just do it Well, I just I don't like I'm just trying to live up to this moment and I'm just gonna ride the wave and it's just like no But it's not done well and don't sound good. The Bruno sound good. Yeah. It sounds amazing. So it's a bit both.
Starting point is 00:38:29 Give love to other artists. Yeah. It's true. I feel like, well, I don't lose anything doing that one. But you feel me? Fuck no. But two, it's true. He's like, smoke it.
Starting point is 00:38:42 So I'm taking these to the house. I'm here for a couple days. This is great. Oh, these smoke it. I'm taking these to the house. I'm here for a couple days now. This is great. These are fantastic. I've seen. So you picked Chris Brown? I picked Chris Brown, but I should say both because, but I picked Chris Brown.
Starting point is 00:38:55 All right, cool. But I'll give my reasons. There you go. Is Tyler the Creator or 21 Savage? Ah, Tyler. We did a record together, separate to that. I think he's brilliant. It's like looking at the lineage of Fry. You know, he got the mustache now.
Starting point is 00:39:09 He does? I haven't seen him this week. He does? He look good? I don't know. I don't see him. No, I mean, no, because Tyler gives a say too. He gives a vibe. Yeah, yeah. It's like everything's involved in what he's doing. In what he's doing. And I have, I'm always just like, man, you are brilliant. And Phyllis, yeah. Tyler all day, I love him. And he makes me happy.
Starting point is 00:39:30 He looks like he's having fun doing what he's doing as an artist. I'm always that. I'm hearing his tours, his shows. I went to the one, was it Call Me When You Get Home? Where DJ Dram all over it. And Call Me If You Get Lost. And this man had a full-size yacht
Starting point is 00:39:47 in the middle of a stadium. What was the stadium, was it SoFi, or was it one of the, he had a full-size yacht going through the stage from one stage to the next stage. And my mind was a little blown. Like I go to, I pay tickets and I go to watch artists perform sometimes because I love music.
Starting point is 00:40:04 But just watching him on a yacht through an audience, like it was just like, who's so I'm looking at the machinations like, how did they get this whole boat? Did they just come out of the ground? Like what? It was just mind blowing. And it was just him. So it kind of, again, affirms some things for me when I think about performances. I learned from young artists and artists like him, but I'm also just like, yes, dream as big as you can and do the wildest shit. This is our world to create. And look, and say what you want about Kanye. He's done that, his listening sessions, he had a house burning in the middle of the thing. It's lineage to me. It puts you in the music for real.
Starting point is 00:40:45 Yeah. Like the way it's very immersive. Yeah. It's to me, like when I think about why I don't get bored and why I always want to do music, it's because of artists like him. Right. It's because of artists that will think of like a burning house and artists that will be like, you know what, let's do, just think outside the box.
Starting point is 00:41:04 And my thing is like, that's why we have to, that's why we support them. That's why we have to keep, you know, like give them their flowers or boost them up. Nothing's impossible. Yeah. And that's actually should be the, like you're creative. Yeah. Yeah. You know? Why? Literally. Right.
Starting point is 00:41:20 Yeah. That's what we do. Right. As the American boy, the biggest record you ever did in America. From America, yeah. There's other records around the world that people are like, well, I know that's American Boy, but... They're like, fuck the American Boy. But America, they're like, American Boy.
Starting point is 00:41:34 We love American Boy. And I've translated that to Polish Boy, Bulgarian Boy, Lebanese Boy. I changed it up. Oh, that's smart. Oh, chat GPT? No, no, I just changed... I have a brain. You said chat GPT. He said chat GPT. Oh, that's smart. Oh, Chachi Pt? No, no, I just changed it. I have a brain. He said Chachi Pt. He said Chachi Pt.
Starting point is 00:41:46 Why does she have to use Chachi Pt? No, I have a brain. I have a brain. Okay. I have a brain. No, no, no. I have a brain. I use my head.
Starting point is 00:41:54 I like, we performed that song in, on every continent by the North and South Pole. And I'll say this, like I've been to Iceland and done it. That's Greenland and done it. So, say it in four of y'all? You said who? You said North and South Pole. North and South Pole. And I'll say this like I've been to Iceland and done it. That's Greenland and done it. You said who? You said North and South Pole? North and South Pole. You don't fuck with it?
Starting point is 00:42:10 No, I haven't performed it there. That's the only place that she hasn't performed it. Meaning she performed it everywhere. Everywhere, yeah. So Santa Claus, fuck with it. Santa Claus, I feel like he fucked with it. Oh, he fucked with it? I feel like he fucked with it.
Starting point is 00:42:20 Yeah, the kids love it, so I feel like he fucked with it. But we perform that song everywhere. And it's my point when I say it's about joy with the kids. The kids love it. So I feel like he talked with it. But we've heard from that song everywhere. And when it's my point, when I say it's about joy with that record, it's not about us. America is like, no, this was just about a fun time. And it was so point of it wasn't a point of it. But it did speak to the America that I was I loved, you know, which is based in hip hop, which is based in black folk, which is based in Latino folk, which is, you know, like, that's what I know when I think about America. So yeah, it's a lot of love.
Starting point is 00:42:52 I love that explanation. Yeah, it's a lot of love. Take a shot. And I'm giving you those points. I'm taking them. All right, pusha tea or Travis Scott? Pusha. Quit with it.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Yeah, I'm the error. All right. Central C or Skepta? Oh, okay. This is like a Pusha Travis Skepta. Because errors, like again, Skepta Walsh, so you can run. You heard that Skepta Joyner Lucas this? What happened now? I have not. Oh, wait, they're beefing because of what?
Starting point is 00:43:28 Skepta is the one that started the the UK versus US. Yeah, he's the one who did the challenge. Yeah. And then Drake said that when he said it. Oh, OK. OK. But it was Skepta that did it, said something first. Oh, I like Skepta's records. And there's that one dude that went at Eminem. What's his name?
Starting point is 00:43:45 Anybody know his name? The Grand Mart is? No, no, the guy who went at Eminem, the Grand Mart is from the UK. So Skepta went at Joyner Lucas and everybody. I don't sit in beef. No, no, no. I don't even want to call this beef.
Starting point is 00:43:58 I wanted to say it's a healthy battle. I mean, it's like in the most, like, I understand lyricism and competing and stuff. But if it feels frivolous or it feels like not based in like, you can't say that to my face. Right. I don't care. Facts. Because I feel like, no, because I also feel like...
Starting point is 00:44:18 We're routine. With words. It's words. Right. And words mean things. And music, as artists, we're alchemists. It's words. on your song, get to where you all get to, but we've seen how that ended up with some of our heroes. If you have, like, if you don't have my number enough, find it, or if you can't, then we don't have beef. Right. That's, that's not, so when it comes to the beef, I understand lyricism, I understand the back and forth, but I'm not going to, I just kind of keep, ah. All right, we see where it goes. Yeah, it's weird. It's weird. am I blowing it? She killed it. She broke it down.
Starting point is 00:45:05 And it's a mature way that it should be looked at. Yes. Everybody's in their journey. Top boy or super cell? Oh, God. Okay, who's going to be the thing? I'll say both because it's beautiful to see at least something. London man, pun the cap.
Starting point is 00:45:29 Pun the international top. I want to apologize to London, to the UK, for our ignorance on drink champs. I want everyone to stop asking me. Stop it. Stop it. Because I want everyone to stop asking me. They are on top of the Netflix. They are good.
Starting point is 00:45:46 But I want everyone to stop doing that weird accent that they got from Top Boy or Supercell. Whenever they see me. You can't help it because when you start watching it, you got to get into the accents. At least for an American, you got to start to understand it. You start to mimic it. Top Boy.
Starting point is 00:46:02 But it's mimicked. London 7. See, yo, London mimic. How do we get here? How do we get? I don't know. Oh, no, it's beautiful to see them both being represented in TV. Yeah, that's my that's my thing. You can't fuck on top. Yeah. All right. Okay. Yeah, man. Yeah, man. Yeah, man. You can't, look. Look, finally. Finally say, look at that. What happened?
Starting point is 00:46:31 Back on the seat. Nah, it's good to see it being taken seriously and it's good to, like, we live a real life out there. This is not just like, so people have said stuff like, and this is my, I've allowed to, I have- Please. I'm trying to phrase it right. People have said stuff like, I'm trying to phrase it right, because I'll be like, tea and crumpets.
Starting point is 00:46:55 And I'm just like, you know, if I said something back to you that was that reach of like your culture, just to be frivolous, just to be a dick, then they'd be like, you don't like America. It's like, it's not that. Burgers and hot dogs, motherfuckers. Burgers and hot dogs, apple pie. And to me, it's just like, it's stupid. It's nonsense, it's divisive, and it's it's unaccepting of culture that we and we both steal from each other's cultures. We really both go back and forth.
Starting point is 00:47:20 It's just lovely to see the representation of somebody who doesn't live there anymore. To see like, oh, look, look, I know someone who's on TV. Oh, that's so good. I've seen them when they was a child and now they're, and I get high pitched when I get emotional. This is so great to see actors from the UK and, you know, like really moving around in the world is beautiful to me.
Starting point is 00:47:39 Like, you know, in the same way it flips back the other way. And not just actors, it feels like people who have been underrepresented in the UK as well. Exactly. But you're so gorgeous. We love you. Thank you. We want to make sure that you continue

In 2020, a group of young women in a tidy suburb of New York City found themselves in an AI-fuelled nightmare. Someone was posting photos.
Starting point is 00:48:53 It was just me naked. Well, not me, but me with someone else's body parts on my body parts that looked exactly like my own. I wanted to throw up. I wanted to scream. It happened in Levittown, New York. But reporting this series took us through the darkest corners of the internet

I knew I wanted to obey and submit, but I didn't fully grasp for the rest of my life what that meant.
Starting point is 00:51:04 In the woods of Minnesota, a cult leader married himself to ten girls and forced them into a secret life of abuse. Why did I think that way? Why did I allow myself to get so sucked in by this man and thinking to the point that if I died for him, that would be the greatest honor? But in 2014, the youngest of the girls escaped and sparked an international manhunt. For all those years, you know,
Starting point is 00:51:30 he was the predator and I was the prey. And then he became the prey. Listen to The Turning, River Road, on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. First off, rest in peace to both of these legends, Tupac or Bob Marley. Oh, goodness. Bob Marley. Shit. I was three looking at Bob Marley in front of a TV screen saying, I want to do that.
Starting point is 00:52:06 And it was him singing a song in the spirit. And it just felt like it moved me so much at a young age. I remember thinking to myself, that's what I'm going to do. And so Bob Marley for that. One, two, one, number one. Were you a Tupac fan? I was a Tupac, yeah, I'm still a Tupac fan. What you mean? What's your favorite Tupac, June?
Starting point is 00:52:22 Oh goodness, he's got too many. We were just listening to I Ain't Mad At Ya, and I realized that song is about 12 hours long, but it was so beautiful. It's a long song. It's a long song, but it's so beautiful, and it was just like, in that era, I didn't really hear anything that sounded emotional in the slightest coming out of the West Coast. And he was repping the West Coast at that point. At that time, right. And I never heard anything like that.
Starting point is 00:52:48 And it just kind of arrested me, like just kind of had me stuck for a while. Like me and my sisters, that was our joint. And that's right when he passed. Right. Which was wild. And the video was like... He lived in the future.
Starting point is 00:53:00 He also was very clear about his mission. Whether he was clear or not, he was clear about his mission. Right, right. And he got it done. You know, it was on his purpose. Yeah. Um, fish and chips or bangers and mash. Wait up these questions. This is definitely a... Well, look, these are my homies. He's from London. He's from London. Are you? Really? He grew up out here. I went to high school with him. It's terrible. These questions are wild. That's my dog Big Drain.
Starting point is 00:53:26 It's wild, sir. Fish and chips. His bangers and mash is strange. What is bangers and mash? I don't know. It's sausage and mash with gravy. Like mashed potatoes and sargals? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:38 Uh-huh. I prefer fish and chips. Fish and chips. Yo, here we go. He came to me with the camera and he's like, I didn't look at you. What kind of a dick? Nah, he was talking to camera. He was like, I didn't look at you. What kind of a dick? Nah, he was talking to you so I looked at you.
Starting point is 00:53:48 All right. The last one of the loyalty or respect? Respect. Because people can be loyal to you and still do disrespectful shit. Right. And it's up to you to see it. But if they respect you, you stand less of a chance of them being disloyal. That's my theory.
Starting point is 00:54:15 So not both? No. Wouldn't be no both. No. It's one of the other most times and one breeds one. So yeah, I'll tell you respect all day. You don't have to like me. Right, right. Yeah, yeah, no. Respect the, respect to what they, you don't have to like me. Right, right.
Starting point is 00:54:25 Yeah, yeah, no. Respect, share with me. We wanna show you your flowers. Thank you. Give you your love. Because of- Appreciate it. That's what our show is about.
Starting point is 00:54:35 Give people their love. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And we wanna give you your love. Thank you, I appreciate it. This is good, you can go outside. You're good, yeah. Can you talk about how you and Kanye connected? I do, and it's a story.
Starting point is 00:54:49 It's a story. It's a story that's on Google. It's on Google? No, no. As in, I've told it so many times. We met a while ago in 2002, 1, maybe, right before my first album came out. And I wanted to actually find John Legend. And that was the point.
Starting point is 00:55:08 Wow. Because I heard this song. Yeah, which we eventually did. I heard a song from the mixtapes he had out. And I was in LA working on records with Corrupt and a few other West Coast. You going in. I was.
Starting point is 00:55:21 Yo, she was crib washing out there. I was. No, so like I said, I was rapping. So I had worked with some producers who were the dogpads, essentially. They were out there working. Great group of guys. Yeah. And we will go back and forth from London to one.
Starting point is 00:55:36 I'd pay my flight and just come out and work with them. And one of the weeks I was out working, I was staying down the street from Roscoe's on Gower Street. And I was listening to the, is it through the wire with the, I'm good and all that on it, right? And John was singing and I just kept thinking to myself, this man's voice. And so I went to Roscoe's and I'm listening to it in my headphones and I walk inside and he's sitting there and I'm just like, holy shit. Wait, Kanye's sitting there? I'm just like, holy shit. Tanya shit sitting there?
Starting point is 00:56:05 Yeah. Wow. It's 2001. I'm saying the fact you were listening to it and you said that you walk in. This happens to me frequently. That's a magical like- You walk into Roscoe's, he's there. That's like law of attraction shit right there.
Starting point is 00:56:16 Right. That's my whole life. Real talk. I'm writing a book about it. It'll show up. But he was there. And so he comes up, prayed and I was like, God, I just need to speak to him because I didn't want to run up to the table and be like, Oh, you have chicken in your mouth. Hello, some British girl. And so he comes outside. After I literally
Starting point is 00:56:33 say thank you, God, amen, he walks outside. I was like, Oh, thank you, Jesus. Hey, Kanye, really love you. We have some people in common. I really want to work with John Legend. Is he there? Is it like, can I just connect with him? And he's like, you know him. I was like, I know his voice. Right, because John Legend wasn't well known yet. He was like, there was no videos on him. So he's probably surprised, oh, you're really taking it into the crazy. And he said, come to the studio. I go to Record Plant and met John. It's a short version.
Starting point is 00:57:03 And we were just been, we've just been cool ever since. He actually signed me to my second album in the US with Atlanta, Atlantic. And that's how everyone has Shyn and American Boy. That's the short version. Yeah, it took some years. That's a lot of time, but it's a lot of manifestation. It's a lot of like law of attraction. It's a lot of walking in but it's a lot of manifestation. It's a lot of like law of attraction. It's a lot of walking in your purpose with me, you know. But you work with some big people early on. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:30 You work with Swizz, right? Mm hmm. Swizz, he was one of the first people who wanted was going to sign me in like 2001. Is this before you're doing the West Coast Back and Forth? Before, no, while I'm doing it, before my first album comes out, I go for a meeting with Swizz and Grady because I had a whole, I've had a long career. I had a skate shoe with this company called Etnies. If you're a real skater, you know about Etnies.
Starting point is 00:57:52 Right. I had a shoe with them, and I was like, this young rapper girl from London. No, I just like the shoe. It's a rap culture. I like the shoe. And when I went to talk to Swizz and them, they were confused. they were like confused.
Starting point is 00:58:05 They were like, how do you have a shoe with the number one skate brand in the world at the time? That's crazy. Right. And they were like, we just don't have our infrastructure, right? But our eyes are on you. And so when it came around for Shine, here came the opportunity to work with Swizzy. And he said, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:58:22 And he produced the title track. Wow. So you know it's been a lot of uh lined up things a lot of like stars in motion yeah. And CeeLo you worked with CeeLo? CeeLo too on Shine, yep. Who else? I've worked with everybody I've wanted to work with. Jax, like a bunch of people. Everyone I've wanted to work with I've worked with. But it's funny because these names from what I know is it was early. It's like after you're well established, like you worked with these people very early in your career. Yeah. And part of it was like, who is this girl and why is she good? And part of it was like the label being, not label, but John being like,
Starting point is 00:58:57 he listened to this artist. He's executive producing it. Yeah, I was on his label at the time. I say John Legend, I was on his label at the time. And our partnership, our friendship was based on, you do melodies really well and you do lyrics really well. Like we work really well together. John Legend.
Starting point is 00:59:13 And that's it. And that's literally why we work so well, you know? So it's been a journey. It's been a wild time. A lot of legendary stuff. But as I said, I'm writing a book about it. It'll be out. It's a lot of attractive thing.
Starting point is 00:59:31 Like, is that really like a theme in the book? Manifestation, the law of attraction, how I did it is the thing. The recurring factor is put it in the world, write about it and go to work. So write about it, write your journals, do what you got to do, put it on a board and go to work. Right, so write about it, write your journals, do what you gotta do, put it on the board and go to work. Go to get it done. And I do that. Like a vision board.
Starting point is 00:59:50 Vision board, put it on the mirror, it don't matter, whatever. Get writing down. Yeah, get it done. It works. It does work. It does. I agree, it works.
Starting point is 00:59:57 But also go to work. No, no, you have to meet your luck. That's what I tell people. Luck is real, but you have to meet your luck. Exactly, that's a quote. Yeah. Yeah. Like I haven't seen him perform in London so many times. So was he like this? No. Thank you though. No, like you're a whole legend. I want to give you your flowers. You know that. Please don't. I can't give you your flowers. He said don't give me flowers. You are. Thank you so much. You are. You have a new prize that came out this year, right?
Starting point is 01:00:27 Yeah, yeah. It came out a couple months ago called Stay Outta. And it was born in the panini. In the panini? The pandemic. The pandemic. In a panini? Pandemic.
Starting point is 01:00:37 The pandemic. It was a tough time for everyone, but it was also a moment of clarity for a lot of people. And I was coming out of a real moment of reorganizing my entire stuff, my life, everything. And so, walking through this whole period, I had to focus on who I was as a person, flip it all around, and then get back to who I am
Starting point is 01:01:00 in my heart and who I am, who I was raised to be. And every single song on this album is a reflection of that from roses, which pairs so nicely with my roses. To love and love. To, you know, yeah, it's really that you have a new theme song for the roses section of yours. But it's really about that because the world as it is right now, and this is my whole thing with this album, the world as it is right now,
Starting point is 01:01:23 it's determined to suppress our light. Right? Every time you look at anything online, you think to yourself, oh God, the world's going to hell in a handbasket. But it's not, you know, because you exist and you have light in you. And so my thing is like, look at your light, go to your light every single time. And if you don't have the words, put on a record that does have it, you know,
Starting point is 01:01:44 and affirm who you are as a human and as a great person and live from that space, even if it's for five minutes of your day. That's better than nothing. Right. You know? So that's it. Stay out. It's all right now. Put it on. It's a fun time. It feels good. And was it independent? So that's no more major record label for you? I've been independent since 2012. How do you like that difference? He loves major labels. I'm just saying, you do. I get the infrastructure. I get it. I like it.
Starting point is 01:02:14 Okay, so do you love independent more? I love being able to see where everything is. I respect that. Yeah, that's my thing. With Amasia, there's so many moving parts. Yeah, Amasia is just...
Starting point is 01:02:29 Yeah, it does the thing. The older Atlantic did incredible work. I love them. They're still cool, you know? We had a wonderful partying. It's great. Nothing's crazy. But I can see where all the parts are.
Starting point is 01:02:43 And also I can, I all the parts are. I'm grateful that I'm the kind of artist where I don't have to move at anybody's pace but my own. I can live a real life, which is part of my whole personal reorganization. I wanted to live a real life and not just be music focused. Every single minute I'm on a flight trying to promote this or do that and I don't actually get to live and have a family or da da da da da, you know, like, or just serve the art justice. It doesn't sell the art. I can't live. If I can't live, I have nothing to speak about. Yeah. And I'm that person. I need to live to speak about some shit. So to me, I like this idea of being able to take my time a little bit. It's a little tougher. It takes a little bit longer sometimes, sometimes. Right. But for the most part, it's good. It's a
Starting point is 01:03:22 good time. Yeah. So, you know, here at Drink Chance, we love Prince stories, and I hear that you have some Prince stories. I do. Prince, my magic calls it like the Wayne Brady effect. You know, in the Dave Chappelle show, where he'd just pop up on Dave, like Wayne Brady would just pop up on Dave. He would just pop up on you? He would just pop up. It would just be random moments in my life. You got some ill, like, people just popping up around you. It would just be random moments in my life. You got some ill people just popping up around you.
Starting point is 01:03:49 I know, it's a wonderful time. No, I have a good life. But Prince was one of the ones. I remember seeing him over my backyard in London. Wait, you saw Prince in my backyard like. I used to live in an estate in London and right over the side of the estate there was a stadium. And I remember hearing him sing Purple Rain and seeing the purple girl, purple lights around the stadium. I didn't never saw it but I was just there singing like, oh my god, this prince is in that building, I know it, I can hear it. So I get signed and I have the same lawyer as him and I don't realize I have the same lawyer as him for a while and then he tells me, oh yeah, I also represent the sign, the Prince.
Starting point is 01:04:29 Formerly known as. Formerly known as. I'm just like, okay, okay, everyone's everyone. And then he says, yeah, come the year before, no, two years before I actually won my Grammy, I come to the House of Blues, Prince is doing the after thing and I'm like, all right, whatever, Prince ain't coming out to no House of Blues, but that's his thing. He would do that. He pops up, yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:50 And I'm getting drunk and Prince doesn't drink. That's when I stopped drinking vodka. But he pops up around two in the morning, like all the alcohol left my body. I was sober. The minute you saw him? The minute I realized he was there, I was like, oh shit, let me gather myself. And so he's in the back and they call me in and it's him and
Starting point is 01:05:12 Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the legends. And they're sat there and he started telling me all the independent stuff like, yeah, make sure you have controller, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Don't allow this. Yeah, your 360s, they're going to try you with that. Don't give it up. Make sure you have verbatim. And so he was about that life.
Starting point is 01:05:31 And he would tell the young artists, tell the artists. And that's my thing. It's like, yeah, own your shit. And so own your shit. And so I learned and I would start absorbing all of that. So things went on. True Romance came out by Independent by Us. And I had a song called Conqueror on that,
Starting point is 01:05:51 which was on Empire and did all the things. And he called me on the day, the week of release. I'm in my house putting together. So I put together, I'm a Home Decor fan. And when I need my brain cleared, I'll go and start putting together things, like put together a bookshelf, like cut a wall open, like that's me, right?
Starting point is 01:06:10 And he calls me in the middle of me putting together a bookshelf, and I'm here like, hmm, why was Prince calling me on this afternoon in Brooklyn? What's happening? I lived in Brooklyn. But he was like, you know, you're doing the right thing. This is it. This is what you should sound like. This is great. Keep it going. like, you know, you're doing the right thing. This is what you should sound like. This is great. Keep it going.
Starting point is 01:06:30 And he just reminded me of who I was. He was like, straight in your crown. And every step, and it's not just saying these are major moments, and then every step of the way he would just call me and just affirm that I was doing the right thing. And then he called me and asked me to perform with him in Baltimore, that concert he did in Baltimore for when they had the protests. And I was like, we'll be over there. I went over there, thought I wasn't going to get to perform, ends up pulling me up for Purple Rain. I don't know what I sounded like, but I did it. Because my whole, I had a whole out of body experience like of, it just felt purple. Well, the venue was purple, but it just felt like purple and it felt like light and it just felt like,
Starting point is 01:07:08 holy crap, I'm floating. You know, like this isn't real. What do you want me to sing? What do you want me to do? And so it's not, I mean, this Prince is kind of popped up to just affirm that I'm doing the right thing and I'm good. But it's also just like his brilliance is astounding. And then Stevie Wonder's another one of those people that I feel like is a living legend.
Starting point is 01:07:28 Yeah. Living legend. You know what we say here? He can see right? We've said it here. He said he cannot. He told everyone the story the other day. Everybody told us that he could see that he pressed buttons in elevators. And he has been doing this his whole life. He's 75. and elevators. They're all like... Despite... With a disability.
Starting point is 01:08:03 Yeah, what people call a disability. Prolific, still. So it's like, there's no excuses for me to not make great music or not do the thing I do really well when these people are, hi, I'm in your energy field. I pop up around you. Like, what we doing? So you got to say Stevie's story then, and what's the story with Stevie? Oh, goodness.
Starting point is 01:08:22 How I met Stevie? Oh, goodness. How I met Stevie, there was an event I took my home girl to. It was Joe, Keith Sweat, and somebody else. And it was hosted by Stevie's radio station. I'm not thinking in any capacity that Stevie was going to be there, but he'd heard that I was in the building. And I was in the back again drinking my brown liquor, minding my business. Like, oh my goodness, Stevie's in the building.
Starting point is 01:08:49 I couldn't see him. And then he gets on stage and he calls me up and I'm like, what do you want me to say? This is my, I'm honest like that. I'll be like, what would you like me? Because I'm standing next to you. The great, one of the greatest vocal, just like are you bugging? Like, what do you want me to do? And then you got like, he swept Johnny Gill and Joe in the building at the same time.
Starting point is 01:09:09 I was like, what do you want for me to do? I came here to watch and learn, OK? He's like, he sang Women in the Sky and he made me sing it with him. And I was like, ah, and we've been friends since. Literal friends, right? Yeah, that's family. But it still blows my mind in a certain sense that I've done the right things in order to put me in an energy space of icons and legends like that.
Starting point is 01:09:33 You know? I mean, I don't think there's many people who could say they have stories with Stevie and Prince, let alone people. Thank you. I'm honored. That's all God. So what are you looking forward to doing? I'm honored. That's all God. That's not doing me. What are you looking forward to doing? Well, I have a radio show on
Starting point is 01:09:50 Apple Music. I'm looking forward to interviewing you both. No. In LA then, right? Does he do it in LA too? Evo's in New York. That one studio was all over there. No, it's two different studios. It's about 12 stations at this point. So many
Starting point is 01:10:05 stations. But we're Apple Music Kits and we keep the legacy and giving people their flowers going. Oh, dope. That's why I'm like, it'd be lovely to talk to y'all. It'd be a good time. Oh yeah. Yeah. Okay. That's dope. That's dope. And music-wise though, you guys? Music-wise, the album Stay Out is out. I have a book coming about my journey so far. It's a how-to book. Like I said, how to do it. How to manifest? Yeah, essentially. And performing-wise?
Starting point is 01:10:30 I'll be out, I'm performing. Yeah, I'm performing out here tomorrow. I mean, I don't know when people are going to get this, but I'm performing at Overtown at the festival. Overtown? Yeah, I have to do it. You coming out? There you go.
Starting point is 01:10:41 So yeah, we stay out, we're doing shows. You can always catch me on my Instagram, my socials and find out where I'm at, but yeah. Well, thank you for joining us. Thank you.
