All right, welcome back to the duck call room, ladies and gentlemen.
We are back on another hot day.
You know what the difference in a dad joke and a bad joke here?
I don't.
Sad joke and a bad joke?
Wow.
What's the difference?
That's not your best one.
The first letter.
Yeah, that's not your best one there.
It's a time.
A bad joke and a dad joke?
Yeah, the first letter.
That's a bad joke and a dad joke.
Yeah, all in one.
All wrapped up in one package.
Really can't tell the difference there.
Oh, man, alive.
No, man, I'm getting ready.
I'm headed out to Minnesota today.
Man, whatever happened to Minnesota night.
To see the fine folks at Minnesota game fair.
The Minnesota Game Fair.
I'm going to try to.
I got a little downtime.
I'm going to my buddies at Rapala said that they'd come get me.
Oh, yeah, I'd go up out of that lake.
Are you going to ice fishing?
No, that's August, man.
I don't know what Minnesota's like in August.
But you know, the cool part is I bet I get to see a bunch of baby ducks.
Let me rephrase that.
For the sake of duck season, I hope I see a bunch of baby ducks.
And so you know what that means, though?
That means hunting season's here, and you've got to have a duck stamp, man.
Got to get on that duck stamp.
Just head on over to duck stamp.com and get it right there on your phone, make it easy for you right now.
Do it.
While we do this show.
Where's my phone?
Hey, you better get it.
You can't get it if you ain't got your phone.
What'd you do?
He ain't gone.
It's in the phone.
Last time he had to use my phone to call his wife and their daughters.
How'd that go?
They get their ears pierced.
Yeah, yeah.
There you go.
They did.
I still can't tell them apart.
Did you get your ears pierced?
No.
Oh, they whined, they hooped and hooded, boy.
About getting their ears pierced?
Yeah.
Really?
Huh.
That's interesting.
Galvin only does French medicare.
French pedicures.
He don't get his ears pierce.
To be fair, getting your ears pierced.
No, they won't.
They won't.
Well, they always.
You're having your granddaughters ears pierced?
That's what he did the last time
Yeah, they did.
They got them pierced so she could tell them apart.
She put like blue and one and green in the other.
One of them's got diamonds.
One of them got pearls.
Okay.
Pearls and diamonds.
There you go.
Does it help?
Not me.
You don't have them.
Can't keep the diamonds?
A little bit and sweet pee.
A little bit sweet pea.
Whichever one looks, I know which one did it.
Oh, man.
There you go.
That good news on ours, you ain't got no issue telling them.
apart. You know what Waylon told me last night?
Oh, this. You're going to like this guy when I texted it to Johnny D.
I laughed. You're going to like this.
And then I told Allison and she laughed. So we,
we told them last night, you know, laying them down to bed like, hey, you got to get a good night
sleep. You're getting your hair cut in the morning. And so, you know, as I'm walking out
the room, you know, I don't kissed him, hugged him, whatever, say good night and all that.
Waylon goes, in the sweetest voice that the boy can get, he goes, Daddy.
I said, yeah, what's up, son?
He said, I want to get my hair cut like yours.
And I said, what do you mean?
He said, I don't want nothing on top.
There you go.
And I said, I want to get by and cut like yours.
Yeah.
Nothing on top.
He said, I don't want nothing on top.
Has it feel to be a hero.
I love it.
I said, you're going to have to talk to your mom about that, son.
Just the old friar look.
I'd get it done.
I'd do it.
house i'll cut his hair my crew cut on top long on the side oh man i got a feeling i did he said
it again this morning when they were walking out the door and i said son i got a feeling genetics will get
you there soon enough yeah i don't be wishing this one on you i would have figured it would have been
the other son that would have yeah jackson no he ain't that clever wayland's a little a little uh
he don't want no hair the little witty one so far and now you've laughed oh yeah i laughed i cried
And so it's on.
And so, yeah.
Who knows, I don't know what they're going to look like.
I did just get a text.
They're supposed to be sending me a picture.
Why didn't you let me cut their hair?
It's going on right now.
Hey, I got, you know, there's one thing in our, my, my parenthood journey that I have
relinquished, relinquished all control over.
Yeah.
As my kid's hair.
Let me cut it.
I cut Benz's hair.
Hey, you talk.
Oh, there's one.
Oh, he got the, he got the, uh, high and tight.
No, he got the old front, the front dude.
Oh, there you go.
Look at him.
I'm taking care of that.
Yeah, I'll send it to you, Johnny D.
Here you go.
That way we can show everybody.
This is live and in person here.
They're currently getting their hair cut?
Currently.
Right now.
Jackson is apparently done with his, but he did say,
he said, I'm going first.
You can go second whenever they live.
But here's, yeah, here's Jack coming at you hot.
I'm waiting for, I'm going to show you what I did to Benz's head.
the internet was split decision on if I did a good job or not.
Oh yeah.
Oh, look at this kid.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, man.
Look how happy he looks to have that hair.
They all slick down there.
A little fohawk?
Yeah, got the little front.
It still ain't short enough.
It ain't short enough.
How much shorter you wanted?
I wanted it like quarter inch on the side.
Oh, let it go.
Bring them to them.
No, that's a good haircut right there.
That's a good.
I'm not about letting my, I mean, I got hair on the side of them.
my head.
I thought about
just letting it go.
That's a good-looking young man there.
Oh, here's the other one.
Uh-oh.
He just come through too, so let me send that one.
They still look alike.
Man, that one.
Hey, look, Godwin, so I buzzed
Benz's head at the beginning of summer.
Yeah.
And, you know, there's an awkward stage.
Right.
Good night.
What's up with your kids and the foahawks?
That's their mama.
Yeah.
Look at these kids.
Look at them.
Look how happy they are.
Got all them teeth out, buddy.
Oh, they love a haircut now.
Boy, they hated it when they were younger.
I mean, like, and I know they're only about to be four,
but that first haircut was not okay.
My kids still don't like a haircut.
But they like it now.
They sit there and mess with the combs and the scissors.
I'm just glad they haven't taken it into their own hands as if yet,
but I'm sure that's coming too.
Hey, I'm trying to get my kids cut their own hair.
Yeah.
It saves money.
I cut my own hair.
Well, so Ben's, we did the buzz cut all summer,
but Allison wanted him to grow it out for school.
And he had the whole.
Like it was just fudge.
Just puff.
And so I was like, we got to do something to the sides.
And I was like, you know what?
I'm going to buy some new clippers.
And I gave the boy a fade.
And if you go all the way around, there are some splotchy parts.
Yeah.
I remember you posted this.
The back was.
No, there was some shadows there.
It looked better in person.
Oh. Yeah.
But the internet told me, I put a poll up.
I said, did I do good?
And 40% of people said, yes.
So that's a win.
And he went to church last night.
I said, did anybody like your, get any,
compliments on your hair? He goes, no. He goes, but I didn't get any insults. I said,
well, then mission accomplished. Well, at church, they don't ever insult you. You get that metal
piece cut off. Church is the best known place to be talking about you behind your back.
Real Christian. Especially your hair. Why are you laughing, Hunter?
They talk about you? I do have a question for you, Martin. What?
You've been out on the road a lot, haven't you? A whole bunch. Well, we got an email.
Back again this weekend.
from a guy named Bobby.
Bobby.
Bobby.
You were recently a speaker in Pineville, Louisiana.
Pineville, Louisiana.
I was.
He said absolutely great message.
Okay.
That's not really what I want to get to.
Okay.
He thinks you enjoyed the national anthem,
which was played on a harmonica?
Unbelievable.
A guy, does he give his name or not?
No, this is just a guy that met you.
Oh, okay.
I can't remember the man.
I've never been anywhere that played the national anthem on a harmonica.
Yes, sir.
So the opening of this day, I spoke at a football banquet.
Like, it's a fundraiser.
He used to work here, Jared.
He still works for me.
So I'm on the side.
Invited me down.
Like, it was kind of a favor for them.
They're raising money.
They, you know, whatever.
I consider Pineville still local community stuff.
We don't get to do a lot of local community stuff where we can go do it.
and then slide back and sleep in our own bed.
Most of the time,
most time we're four,
five,
six hours away when we're doing this stuff.
So,
you know,
I had the night free,
so I told them I'd come down there and do it.
But their opening was,
I'm going to guess the man was over 75.
Just,
I'm guessing here.
So size age or older,
probably.
And he played,
and did the-
Broke out a harmonica.
The national athlete.
Not with a holder.
The harmonica in his,
hand while holding a microphone too and played the national anthem to start the whole thing off.
And I may have let out a little whoop after he got done, which I'm guessing is why Bobby said that I enjoyed it so much.
It was awesome. I've never heard it played on a harmonica. I've heard it sang. I've heard it played on, you know, Ted Nugent with the guitar and all that kind of stuff. I never heard it on a harmonica. And for the fact that he held it
in his hand and held a microphone in the other hand told me he's either really good or drastically
unprepared. I'm not sure. But it was awesome. Like, if it was awesome, he was prepared. Yeah. Yeah, it was
awesome. Been doing that for a long. Yeah. Well, I'll wear my poncho shirt here to the duck car
room. You're wearing a poncho tea right now. Y'all know we wear poncho. We wear it everywhere. We're
it dove hunting, wear it to church. It doesn't matter where you wear it. Pancho makes men's
outdoor performance shirts that look good enough to wear anywhere.
You can wear them fishing like goblin.
You can wear them hunting to a tailgate or straight to dinner.
They're breathable, stretchy, and quick drying with UPF 50 plus built in, and they
seriously feel like butter.
They come in size of small, all the way to 3XL, and you even get to choose your fit.
Whether you're slim, tall, or just regular, they got you cover, man.
The best part is all the little details that show that they actually use the shirts and
they've thought about it.
There's a hidden zipper pocket.
There's a sunglasses holder.
There's even a built-in lens.
cloth for your glasses. So when you try one poncho shirt, you'll want it in every color.
It doesn't take long before you've got a whole stack of them.
Ain't that right, side?
That's very, it's very made out of very good material and it's very comfortable.
Look, gear up for summer with poncho. Go to poncho outdoors.com slash and enter your email to get
$10 off and free shipping on your first order. That's P-O-N-C-H-O-Outdoors.com slash
head there, drop in your email and get $10.com.
off and free shipping.
And once you try one, you'll get why we've got a closet full.
Oh, no, no, because that was like when the 250 and the vets were in that little chat.
Yeah.
And what I'm saying, America, home sweet home.
I mean, this is no instrument, no nothing.
Oh, straight archipel, straight church of Christ.
Yeah.
Okay.
And I mean, and it was excellent.
I mean, there you go.
I was shocked.
Yeah, when you hear stuff you haven't heard before, it's really cool.
And for me, the harmonica.
You need more harmonica.
I can't even put that in my mind.
Of playing it on a harmonica?
It was awesome.
It was, and he's like a retired school official from, like,
I think he works for the state now or helps with the state or something.
I'm not real sure.
I didn't catch all of his qualifications or,
prerequisites before it happened because in my mind I'm thinking when he said he's about to play it
on the harmonica in my mind I'm like yeah because a lot might have I'm like mm because a lot of
people just ruined that yeah well it's singing it or wow whatever yeah well singing the national anthem
or anything national anthem is like the worst thing ever right if you do good you're expected
to it's the national anthem but buddy if you do bad like that chick at that baseball game all right
Or like our good friend Luke Bryan that time that wrote it on his hand so he wouldn't forget it
because he was so nervous.
You know?
I mean, that's the rough song to sing.
That's what I'm saying.
So like Luke Bryan writes it on his hand to make sure he don't screw up, you know, like that tells you
how much pressure comes with doing that.
And this old man stepped up with that harmonica and just let her rip, buddy.
Okay.
I was having trouble imagining this.
Did you find it on YouTube or something?
I'm sure there's something somewhere that has it.
I've found the most magical thing that might exist on the internet.
One of the best ones I've heard were actually in the Air Force or in the military that sung the national anthem.
I found the New York Rangers hockey team had the K-Town Senior and Community Center Harmonica group come and do the National Anthem.
Does nobody young play the harmonica anymore?
Is that a lost art?
Well, I was wondering what the K-town Community Center might be.
I got an idea when you said senior.
It's clearly a bunch of Korean old people.
Oh, K-Town, Koreans.
That are about, we got to, I got to know.
Oh, are they all going to play?
Oh, turn it.
You got it muted, huh?
Oh, no.
Okay.
I'm so excited.
This was it.
Nothing says America like a bunch of Koreans playing the harmonica on ice.
before a bunch of Canadians and Russians
fight each other.
I don't want to hear nothing about us being racist no more.
Look at this.
This is the biggest thing of inclusion you've ever seen.
I'd call it a melting pot, but they're standing on ice.
That's amazing.
I mean, I love the fact that when stuff happens now,
the internet just keeps it alive forever.
Hey, Mr. Number 90 something for the Kings.
And as good as the old man was, I bet they were better,
because they could do the different notes at different times.
Like he, you know, the one part that seemed like a little bit of a struggle
was going from the high to the low real quick, you know,
like when you get it towards the end there.
But I bet they probably had people that just did lows and just did high.
So you should join a senior group like that.
It was unbelievable.
It was, I mean, I was thoroughly.
I got to play it.
I got one.
You could probably play the harmonica?
Yeah.
Oh, you could do it.
Yeah, blowing a duck call, I would think we could all do it.
that Sammy Davis gave me.
Sammy, oh, the real life Forrest Gump.
Yeah.
Yeah, him.
Sammy Davis gave you a...
You don't know him, Hunter?
Oh, he was on the Duck Commander Cruz
a couple of times with us.
He was...
He was the one...
He's the real-life Force Gump.
Yeah.
I mean, with some creative liberties,
but, like, the war part of the story
was, like, his story.
Oh, wait, you're not joking.
No.
Would I make that up?
He gave me...
He said...
I mean, he didn't play football at Alabama
and run through the end of the...
the tunnel, but, you know, the war part was him.
Yeah, he said that...
Yeah, he said that...
Yeah, he said that he would write home to his mom,
and he didn't want to write what he was seeing,
but he was writing about the bugs and the insects,
and he got a hoe to...
Then he just quit writing, or wasn't writing as much.
And the sergeant come out there like 2 o'clock,
and then his foxhole, 2 o'clock in the morning,
said, I don't know who your mother knows,
but she got a hoe to the general.
Yeah, as you got a ride home.
You got a ride home.
So he started writing.
No, that's when he started writing about the bugs and stuff.
She said, you're so bored, she sent him a harmonica.
So the sergeant come out there again at 2 o'clock in the morning.
He said, don't make me come out here no more at 2 o'clock in the morning,
or late at night, whatever it was.
But he said, I want to hear that harmonica at all times.
and he said, I don't know how to play the harmonica.
He said, you better learn.
He said, the only thing I could think of was Shannandoah.
And he played Shannandoah on stage.
And when he got through, he put it in his box.
He walked down there and he handed it to me.
Yeah.
I said, what an honor.
We could probably get Mr. Sammy to come on here and tell us.
Probably could, yeah.
Well, he's, I mean, I don't like to ask.
He ain't far.
Yeah, he's Alabama, right?
Alabama.
I think he was in Texas.
he may be i don't know what's his wife's name i don't forget her name oh couldn't he wasn't jenny it was
uh yeah he won a medal of honor he was on a cruise with us but i remember when he handed me the medal
and said yeah yeah it's part of yours and i said you're a you're mine
i said it ain't no part man yeah i ain't have nothing to do what it is yeah you know but he made me
look at it differently he said you served and
you was there.
He said, so this is part of yours.
Yeah, that's right.
So, in a way, yeah.
When he first handed to him, I didn't even know it just, whoa, dude.
He said that.
This is a medal of honor for frying out loud.
He said that Sergeant Dixie.
That's her name, right.
Not Jenny, it's Dixie.
Dixie.
Yeah, that's his wife's name.
Yeah, there you go.
He said that Sergeant told him, I don't, never want to not hear that thing going off.
and he said when he'd stop or have to go use the bathroom or something
and he'd stop playing,
you could see people's head pop up over.
They're looking to see what happened.
He ain't playing them more.
I know because I sent Mama a picture of me, y'all,
no shirt on and everything.
And she said, they ain't got a shower.
Y'all, I was so dark from the sun.
She thought it was mud.
She said, y'all ain't got a shower.
I said, mama, that's the, I,
That's how tan I am.
I said,
it's like a 110 in the shade over here.
About what it is out there right now.
Ooh, it's hot.
We're not far across.
Sammy David.
He has a Wikipedia page.
Yeah.
His wife's name is.
One thing that was so crazy.
I cannot find where he lives.
About Vietnam?
He lives over.
It was the monsoon.
Rain.
Big old fat drops of water.
When I'm talking about rain,
you ain't,
you ain't seen rain like this.
Yeah.
Because I mean, hey, well, a company of men can disappear.
Yeah.
Sometimes it rang from the ground, you know, that you can't even,
that you can't even see anyone.
Yeah.
It's just a wall of water.
And we seen it coming and stood there and cold.
Yeah, it was cold.
When it hits, everybody just, oh!
I bet you all.
run after that second.
No, no, we stood still like,
it just, you know.
One day it's tough.
Hey, you couldn't even see.
Yeah.
Wow.
I've literally, I've literally come off of a, of a,
for the, uh, computers was in a, in a, in-door, a truck.
Yeah.
I've stepped out and disappeared.
Good, great.
That's a heavy run.
It rained at that hard.
I took one step off the porch and was gone.
You couldn't even see me.
Forest got.
Or you can sneak up on somebody like that.
Oh, no, hey.
They sneak up on you, too.
I think that was their whole thing.
I mean, it might last five seconds or five minutes or an hour.
Yeah, that's wild.
Rainforest.
That is a downpour.
We had a downpour Saturday up there at the camp,
but it is soaked in like nobody's business.
We needed it.
And look, after it quit, the ground.
be like it's just bone dry.
Bone dry.
That's how hot it was.
Wait, you ought two and a half miles this morning?
Yeah.
Me too.
And I took my AG1.
One of my new favorite parts about AG1 is that now we got AG1 pro, which means we got a little
creatine mixed in, your daily dose of creatine right here.
And now one scoop will really do you, boys.
AG1 is already the standard for daily foundational nutrition and AG1 pro.
takes it to the next level.
AG1 Pro is a daily health drink that gives you everything that AG1 next gen does,
gut health,
key nutrient replenishment,
immune health support,
plus creatine and extra nutrients for advanced muscle and gut support.
AG1 Pro uses a creatine that has 99.9% purity,
is NSF certified for sport and third-party tested,
which makes all the difference if you compete or care about what you're putting into
your body.
If you're already taking creatine separately,
like I was, AG1 Pro simplifies your stack.
All you need is one travel pack
and 10 to 12 ounces of cold water, and that's it.
You on creatine?
No, I'm still on my AG1.
I just drink the regular AG1.
You need to get on creatine too,
because people think creatine's just for working out muscles,
but it also boosts that big old brain inside your noggin,
get you going, get you focused.
And AG1 Pro is so simple.
Just first thing in the morning, one scoop,
10 to 12 ounces of water,
shake that up,
and you're good to go for a limited time, save 20% on your first subscription order of AG1 NextGen or AG1 Pro at drinkag1.com.
That's drinkag1.com slash.
I got a story to tell from the internet.
Well, tell a story.
We're listening.
Are you all ready for this one?
I'm sure you're saying.
I can't wait.
Is that about bees?
Nope.
And there's, oh, I've seen something, co.
I'll tell you about it.
All right.
Well, we've been sent this a hundred times.
I'm going to go with Cooper.
Cooper Senate.
I appreciate you, Cooper.
His name's Cooper Martin.
Y'all might be cousins.
Excuse me.
We're all blood kid through Jesus.
And he's from Kingsport, Tennessee.
Hopes to see you at the races sometimes
because it's right next to Bristol, Godwin.
Boy, that's the one.
I ain't never been to, but I want to.
No.
You ain't never been to Bristol?
I've been to Bristol.
I drove by it one time.
That one seems like one I'd want to go to.
I watched a football game at Bristol.
Football.
Remember growing up football's practice junior high right before school started.
It's 100 degrees.
Two days.
You're miserable.
Yeah, drinking water out to PVC pipe.
Well, a young man in Malmalae, Arkansas.
Malmell.
Sure.
Malmell, buddy.
Get it right.
He practiced as he would any other day.
Oh.
Except that day.
Size is going to like it.
He had a passenger.
No, no, in his helmet.
Coiled inside his helmet.
Have you seen this guy?
Uh-huh.
Oh, buddy.
Hey, cotton mouth.
You talk about.
Cotton mouth, he played for an hour.
With it in his helmet.
A two-foot cotton mouth nestled between the padding of his helmet.
Look, they figured it out.
So they put him in water and put a brick in the helmet
to get the cotton mouth.
come out.
Watch this.
How did they figure it out?
I assume somebody saw some scales or something and pooped their pants.
And then when they cleaned up their poo pants.
Yeah, this one is bizarre here, ma'am.
That is about to.
He's about to stick that head up.
Oh.
I've watched this, yeah, a lot.
And I'm just trying, I guess he left it like on the porch or something.
What shocked me about this?
Oh, wait, because he's going to.
Hello.
Whoa.
Look who it is.
This old gym.
Good, Gary.
In his helmet.
I can't believe he played an hour hitting and all that and that thing didn't pop him.
Well, something tells me that there wasn't a lot of contact going on.
Because of cotton mouth.
But that just goes to show you, them things ain't vicious predators.
They ain't out there trying to chase him.
Are you kidding me, Martin?
He was planning his attack.
If he was planning his attack, that fellow would no longer be with us if he got bit in the
That's way too close to your heart.
Oh, yeah.
Problem.
Major problem.
Big time.
But that guy mouth said, you know what?
Best thing I can do is just sit right here.
Let me just, I'm going to go into hunker down mode here,
and then maybe tonight he'll put that helmet somewhere and I can get the heck out of here.
When it gets dark and it gets quiet, I can get, I can get down and get the heck out.
Yeah, that one, that one would make me.
That's always why we shake our waiters.
Well, yeah.
Before we, you know, put them on after that.
They've been hanging up for a while.
That one right there at that age of what that kid is
would give me an irrational fear of all headgear from that point forward.
I wouldn't even wear a hat.
I wouldn't put it on.
With him, I could argue that his fear was rational.
I would not ever put it on.
It happened to me, I'd never put an helmet on again.
None of the articles say who the player was,
but it said initially felt something odd,
but continued practicing.
At some point, it felt unusual enough for him,
to bring it to the coach
when the snake's head was discovered
peeking through the padding in the helmet.
And here's where I have a major issue.
Animal Services was called.
Nope.
Set it on fire.
Burn it.
Shoot it.
Crush it.
Run it over.
Destroy everything.
I see if this would have been
a year 2000.
Well,
let me tell you what.
Let me just tell you.
If it's been a year 2000,
you know how you handle that.
Whoever on that football team,
somebody one of them kids got a shotgun in his truck because he spent all weekends you can ski
mom-mell arkansas i guarantee animal service that was just to be nice animal service was low brass
sixes that's right and we would have thrown that westman row football helmet out in the middle of that
field and made it bounce all the way out of boom bow boom bow we would have shot the mess out of that thing
and i would have fully supported that yeah it would have been and it would have been and it
It would have been sanctioned by Coach Shells.
Like, he wouldn't have cared.
When I was that age, I had too big of a head for my body.
And so I had to put Vaseline on the earpieces to get the helmet on.
When I was that age, buddy, like junior high, I had to go to the high school and get a helmet.
They didn't make one for your boy.
Your boy running around 6th, 7th, and 8th grade with a West Monroe rebel helmet on,
and I'm still a whatever we were, colonel or whatever we were, you know.
Did you go to Westbrookeau, junior high?
or one of the new ones.
Yeah, no, I went to the little one up there.
Okay.
Oh, yeah.
By the bar guy.
I had to go bar at a helmet.
I had a,
I had a helmet all along from Westminster High School the whole time.
Because they did not have one that would fit my head.
Funny.
And they didn't have one that would fit my head even with grease.
You vacillane the ears?
It was very embarrassing.
Oh, they tried.
That's the one the coach took it and said, oh, that thing will fit.
What?
I'm like, coach.
That hurt, bro.
It ain't.
Yeah.
Like, Coach, that ain't.
That ain't it.
They just skin my ears off.
Yeah, that's why I always just kept my helmet on the whole time.
Never take it off.
Oh, it wasn't no putting it back on.
I left my...
I wasn't that sweaty because I was on the sidelines the whole time.
Oh, I was, yeah.
I was up there in the meat of it.
He was up there on the line.
Yeah, I was right next to the center.
Did you imagine a snake in your helmet?
No, I don't have a fear of snakes, but that one would...
That one would get me.
That one would...
I've heard of the snake in my boot.
When you think about sliding the helmet on.
Well, we're going in the time of year, too.
Like, this is the time of year, too, you've got to watch out.
Like, you leave anything outside.
This is when the babies are out patrolling.
Now, they've had their babies with the little yellow tails and everything,
and this is when they get in your shoes.
I have a pair of boots on my porch right now, and I keep looking at them like,
you must have been up there on the Buffalo River or something.
I don't know.
Where is mall mail?
It's up there in a mile.
I think.
Right above Little Rock.
I just looked it up.
Yeah.
I would never be able to put a helmet on again.
I'm serious.
And who can blame you?
I don't,
I can't blame you.
I would never put a one on again.
I'm serious.
Yeah,
I'd have to,
I'd have to seek years of counseling to get to a point where I don't know.
I don't think I can now just because it happened to him.
No.
Good news is I don't suspect I have a reason to put a helmet on for the rest of my life.
So I don't remember who that was it put on the waiters and, you know,
they come out of them right quick because there's,
You know, he felt something move against his leg.
I don't like that.
Oh, I hang mine up boot first.
You ain't getting up there, buddy.
Matt?
That sucker can't go straight up.
Uncle Mac?
I don't know.
A pair of boots that had a cotton mouth out.
I found some snakes in some wild places.
Well, like rat snakes and stuff.
So if I put my foot on a rat snake, all he's going to do.
Hey, I found a rattles snake in my air conditioner, window unit.
Oh, well, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
All right.
There was a little.
He hodgepaged his way up.
Well, there one thing near.
And he literally, he had to climb that oak tree to get in that.
He hodgeposhed his way up there looking for a rat.
You must have a rat in there.
What got me is when I turned it on.
That motor kicked on and the air started flowing.
All like a smell was snake.
And I know how scared you are of them.
Oh, no.
I threatened to shoot me over one.
What got me was we carried it out to the picker.
up truck and I had it against my belly.
Yeah, no.
And after we set it down,
the kid was fully pushing it back in there and said,
hey, he'd come out and he said, hey, y'all needs
come look for what I just killed.
Johnny D. doesn't have something disturbing.
I don't know what it is, but I see that look on this way.
He's got a look. Yeah.
He's like, he don't know where to jump out of the chair or what.
What?
We're just going to title today's episode, Unusual Wildlife.
What happened to?
I just happened to click on Facebook, because I
peruse the emails and I look at our comments and try and find something to talk about sometimes.
And the first thing on Facebook, eight-year-old catches piranha.
Catches what?
Where?
Parana.
Where?
During lake fishing trip with his dad.
Yes.
And Florida?
Gotta be.
Higher.
Really?
Yeah.
Okay.
Maryland?
Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania?
There's piranha.
is in Pennsylvania.
Somebody let him go.
Yep.
And then my mama said it.
Had a pet.
Had a pet.
Got too big.
Yeah.
They thought it was a bass.
He was like,
no,
that's just a big old bluegill.
Turns out.
Ain't a big old bluegill.
It's a piranha.
Oh, yeah,
that's him.
How did we get a piranha in Pennsylvania?
Somebody let him go.
Where do you buy a piranha?
That is definitely,
we, ICE is going to take that piranha out one way or another.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, he'll die.
Yeah, either the agency or the stuff.
I'd say him it's probably a private thing.
But where do you get a piranha for a pet?
Over.
Does that be cool?
Imagine feeding it like a month of meat.
No, no, no.
In the Fish and boat commission.
That's fish and boat.
I got so many problems with the government.
The fact that that exists bothers me.
Anyway, he said it's some species of piranha.
My new house is going up quick and all that I need to block from privacy.
Yeah.
I got to get some more fast-growing trees, man.
Hey, you know where to get them, but I'm going to tell you something new about them
because you've heard us talking about fast-growing trees before,
but you know what?
They made it even easier.
It's just trees.com now.

What I learned is my cherry trees didn't like that drought we were going through.
But we've had a couple of days of rain now.
They just sprung right back to life.
Hey, my food are green giants.
I was kind of confused on how to plant them, how to water them at first.
Yeah.
Got on there.
Plant expert walked me straight through it.

I was sitting there out there in the parking lot at the camp.
We got a tree in the parking lot that's a bee tree.
They got honey in it, you know.
Buddy.
Do I have the guys for you to call?
My latest obsession on Instagram.
They don't bother nobody.
But we were sitting there and all of a sudden they started just buzzing around.
I mean, millions of them.
Yeah.
And gone.
They left.
Well, they still saw them up there, but.
A new swarm started.
There was a new queen that come by.
That's what they said.
A new queen was born.
Yeah.
And they gone.
She took half of them with her.
She took off of them.
New High.
Oh man,
the piranha's not even expensive.
That's an amazing thing to watch.
Yeah, they were just buzzed around over about 10 minutes.
Just swarmed the pile.
So you really need Instagram.
I didn't know that there was that many bees in that tree.
I mean, it was gazillion.
The guy, when you've got Instagram,
I would like to inform you of my latest follow on Instagram.
The guy I sent a message to, I invite him come on podcast.
He hadn't responded yet.
But his name's Killer Bee Guy.
Killer Bee Guy.
It's incredible.
I had no idea.
I'm a, you know, I guess you could say classically trained biologist.
I was never taught this in school.
Bees, honey bees are not native to the United States at all.
None.
No, not none.
They were brought here from Europe.
Yes.
Really?
Yes.
They are not native to the United States.
But people get really?
I can't believe that.
That's what I always thought.
You know, I've been a part of the, you know, take care of the bees.
They will import it in.
They were brought.
The colonists bring it up.
European settlers imported the common Western honeybee from Europe in the early 1600.
I had no idea, right?
Like, I had no clue that we did not have natural honey bees here.
In fact, in the United States, North America, there were no naturally occurring honey
bees.
Good.
That's great.
We all have like.
solitary bees and bumble bees and stuff that they don't make honey.
None of them make honey.
And so like their biggest thing,
these guys in Arizona,
all the,
apparently they've done genetic tests on all of them in Arizona and they're all
Africanized.
So it's the ones that they made in Brazil in like the 50s where they crossbred
African bees with the,
with those bees to try to make a better bee.
And all they did was built a killing machine.
All they did was built a killing machine.
They made one.
All right.
Yeah.
It's kind of like Jurassic Park, you know, when that kind of deal.
Yeah.
And so with that, like the state of Arizona.
Very important.
If you have any beehive, they kill them.
No questions asked.
Just kill them all.
And so the guys that kill them get to sell the honey at least, you know,
but they're in full-blown eradication mode.
And I've watched them guys tear apart.
So it's incredible.
Killer be guy.
Killer be guy.
Now, he got, now folks at home,
if you listen to this and you think,
oh, that'd be good for your kid.
Now, my man's got a little bit of a potty mouth.
He does use some expletive-filled things
when a bee gets inside his suit per se
when he makes it past the first line of defense.
But it's incredibly fascinating to me
because I'm like, now I'm learning stuff at 41
that I never even knew.
I would have never thought that there was.
How would you, right?
local popular, I figured they
I figured they were here
and we, you know, we made them
I'm not going to call them pets because you
ain't going to walk your bee to school, but like,
you know, we made it where we could all live together.
I figured they figured out a way to farm them
and, you know, like you do a lot of things.
But no, they were brought here. No clue.
Had no clue about that.
Well, that's wild.
Now, these guys are on the opinion of kill every bee.
Like, every bee that's not native.
I think there's probably a middle ground in there,
somewhere where you can, you know, we brought them here.
It ain't their fault they're here.
So, like, let's figure out how to live with them.
Well, now, see, that's one of God's amazing creation.
It's the honeybee.
Yeah, it never, it never spoils.
They found, look, they found a honeycomb and honey, honey in the pyramids.
Yeah, and could eat them.
No problem.
And it could and, hey, it was edible.
Well, I'll be.
Did somebody eat?
And it was over 3,000 years old.
They found in the...
It never spoils.
Never goes bad.
Hey.
The, uh...
No, that's insane when you think about it.
So then, but I'll tell you about the wild world of Instagram, when you click on somebody
like that to follow, then they start showing you B stuff from all over the world.
Yeah.
And there's these guys.
Martin keeps sending me B stuff.
There's these guys from somewhere.
I don't know where they're from because I don't understand the language.
And, uh, these boys...
apparently bees in rainforest get up to the tallest trees that are above the canopy.
No, no.
And these boys drive bamboo into the trees and will climb up there and they look like they're
a thousand feet off the ground robbing bee hives for honey.
No, no.
I've seen that.
I've seen that.
Yeah.
Buddy.
It's unreal.
It's unreal.
Honey good.
It ain't that good.
No.
I sent giant deer video.
Look that video I sent last night.
It's so high it was scary.
Look at this guy.
Look how high he is.
Oh, look at him.
And look.
And he's getting ate up.
He's getting eat up, buddy.
No suit, no nothing.
My man got bare hand.
Look how high he is.
This ain't jump out.
No, he's got a shimmy back down that limb like a cat squirrel.
Watch what he gets on to.
Three bamboo poles.
He just got to take it.
And watch him how he climbs down these bamboo poles.
Our algorithms are so different.
Yeah, mine's very nerd-centric.
It's insane.
Look at that, look at that boy sitting down that bamboo ladder that ain't got no steps.
Oh, just taking it right there on the hand, man.
Look, he's trying to get him off there.
Well, you're getting stung multiple times.
Mm-hmm.
Good night.
Yeah, it's a trauma.
So then I spent way too much time on that guy's page,
and I watch how they build them bamboo ladders that they call ladders.
They're just slick bamboo that I don't know how.
strong them boys are.
But it is all. They climb them all like
a fire pole. When you said, you called that a ladder, I said
that's a fire pole. Yeah. I was looking at it still.
Yeah. That boy got tore up. That's what Martin
sends me. And I send him this kid from New Jersey
that makes pasta out of white monsters.
I told y'all that's story. And it's amazing.
Me and dad sitting on the porch when we look
and here comes just a black wall.
of bees flying toward us.
Oh, yeah.
And they come in and go to the next door neighbor's house,
and she's got these purple flower vines.
I'm talking about, hey, that big swarm landed on one of them vines
and made a ball about that big round.
And my dad said, hey, come with me, boy.
And I said, what we're going to do?
He said, we figure to get us have honey for the rest of the rest of the
at the time we live here.
And when we walked up there and he said,
told me,
grab that vine and hold it.
I said,
I couldn't have done it.
No, no.
He was,
he had to threaten me.
I know.
Because I said,
Daddy.
I said,
that's got to be a million beads.
I ain't going to hold that.
He said,
boy, grab that vine.
Boy,
just and hold it.
I'm going to cut it right past your hand.
You hold it.
I had told it.
and we're going to walk around there and put it in that shed.
I wouldn't ever want to tell my daddy no, but I'd have had to tell him.
No, no, he had to threaten me for me to do it.
Yeah, I'd have just had to.
And I'm sitting there just shaking like a leaf.
He said, hey, quit shaking.
You go, you're going to make them sting us.
No, I thought.
Oh, hey, he cut that thing off and he had already put two chairs.
And we walked around there and he took a hammer and knocked them.
knot hole out of a board and we he set that we set that thing between them two chairs and he
sit down and sit there for about all 35 minutes ways that that that that queen bee rolled up on top
and he thumped there in that not hole and just they immediately went in and hey we had honey
for 20 years yeah it's in that shed curry yeah that's uh that's what i
I found fascinating about all that stuff.
I was like, man, this is, this is cool stuff here.
You know, and when you look at what they do,
because Daddy had, look, he had just took a skill saw,
just, whew, and cut him a square out of that,
out of that shed.
And nailed, just two nails, nailed it back up.
When we got rid of Robert, just pulled the two nails.
ease that square, four foot square out.
Ease it and hey look and put it down gently because on the back of it,
there's a thing of honeycomb that bang around.
Open a morning, right? You got your coffee?
Check.
You got your calls?
Check.
Got your waiters?
Check.
Got your gun?
Check.
Got your shells?
Check.
Check.
You better have your federal duck stamp.
Ooh.
I thought you were going to say the biscuits.
No, the federal duck stamp because you got to have it to go duck hunting,
but you know the easiest place to get your federal duck stamp?
I do.
What is it?
Duckstamp.com.
You can keep the digital stamp right on your phone throughout hunting season,
and your collectible paper stamp will still arrive in the spring in the mail.
Every duck stamp helps protect the wetlands that make duck hunting possible in the first place.
Hunters have been supporting that work for generations,
making the duck stamp program one of America's greatest conservation success stories, man.
I've had people buy them off of me because I used to just buy them.
extra and keeping my console.
Oh, that's a good.
Did you charge extra?
No, I didn't charge a convenience fee.
I just let them give me my money back.
But you would be surprised how many people show up to go duck hunt and don't have federal
duck stamp.
So before you head out this season, visit duckstamp.com and check one more thing off your list.
That's duck stamp.com.
When's this episode going on there?
I don't know.
Sometime in October, I think.
October.
What's that?
No, I think it's right after my birthday?
I think.
7th, maybe?
Really?
I think is about...
Happy birthday!
I'm having surgery to 25th.
On what?
Your shoulder?
Oh, you're out.
Oh, I see it there.
What is that?
What is it?
They don't know.
Huh.
They're just going to go get it.
What, you just got a knot?
I'd pull in my bow.
Me and Paula was shooting her bows.
And I noticed the next...
Right before I quit.
Last Sunday evening,
I was like,
man, I was straining, you know.
Uh-huh.
And I got out of the shower Saturday morning, I mean Monday morning.
It was way bigger than that then.
I see it there.
And so I called.
They said, get up here.
I went up there.
They said, oh, that's fluid.
We'll drain that off of her.
And then they brought that live scope machine in there.
They said.
Put the transducer on you?
Yeah.
He said, no, that ain't fluid.
Ah.
You got a muscle balled up or a tendon or something, huh?
There's a mass in there.
They give me an MRI stat.
Really?
Okay.
I only ate it through the muscle when I strained up.
Okay.
It's ungrown.
I got to take it out.
Okay.
But they ain't, like a cyst?
No, not yet.
They ain't poked it yet.
You got like a cyst?
in your shoulder?
Just a knot.
Oh, it's,
it's big.
It's big.
It goes all the way down in here and goes under here.
Oh, God.
They're going to have to cut it out?
Yeah, he's going to take it out.
Cut her out?
Well, y'all be proud.
You're going to get feet laid, son.
I'm going to get, uh,
I probably lose some more weight.
There you go.
Wait till that next Ph.D.
I can,
and it don't hurt.
It kind of does.
Yeah.
When I was stacking out firewood, it kind of bothered me a little,
but I wasn't going to let them young boys out do me.
I was going to keep going.
Yeah, you're going to just.
But I mean, it burns and kind of dull.
Huh.
When you touch it, it hurt.
Well, if I tell you for your recovery, you need to use a rowing machine.
I got you, God.
That's my other latest obsession.
He's a rower.
I'm an indoor rower.
You can come rowing my claws.
with me. I figured I just chunk that rod
what I figured. That may be what got you there in the first place.
What are you going to do if you got to do everything left-handed?
Do everything left-handed?
You can do it? You can do it? You can shoot your bow left-handed.
Crossbow.
You can learn. There you go. You'll have medical hardship.
Yeah, you can get back on that crossbow. Yeah.
There you go. That's good.
Medical hardship.
Well, you ain't got to have my own.
I got certain opinions on crossbows, but...
Yeah.
Oh, I'm looking forward
And I think it should be
I'm looking forward to deer hunting this year
Are you going to use a crossbow?
No, I'm going to go to Mississippi to hunt
deer
He's going to use what I like to call
Oh, wait, we got me
We got invited to South Texas
If you want to go hunt deer too
Placing freer
It's good
If you want to go
Anytime in January
We got an open invitation
So if you want to slide down there
Because I will have to eat
Yeah
If you won't slide down there, we can.
But he said I wouldn't beat the ham about six weeks.
Six weeks?
You know what else I got in Freer, Texas?
Chick-fil-A?
A lot of doves.
Oh, no, I'm going to.
I can shoot a shot around a lieutenant.
I'm going to love a...
Oh, Dove.
Are you bringing your poodle with you?
You taking Killer with you?
Oh, yeah.
So I watched that the other day, and I laughed.
And I laugh.
You watched what?
That episode of Duck Dynasty where you had the poodle
With Killer.
No, Killer was a hoot.
Next episode, we're just going to watch that.
We don't have enough time, but we're watching that.
It's hilarious.
Oh, no.
He run by me.
I'll kill the dove.
That haircut.
He wasn't got him to come running by me,
and they're real sensitive.
And he run by me, I tried to grab him to stop him.
Well, when I did, I painted him.
He tried to bite me.
I bet he did.
You know what Phil said about him?
It's gross.
You know what your brother said about that dog?
What?
He said, I'll say this about that dog.
He's got a set of cods on him and make Arnold Schwarzenegger blood.
There's a, that is a lost word today.
I don't hear cods near enough.
No, no, I'm serious.
I'm telling you.
I had an email.
We're skipping it.
right here and make it round and that's how big killers going his his his cods were yeah i love i
love i mean hey you tell because because it and it was fabulous okay the way that scene i i i mean this one
that that picture screw it i had an email but we're that that picture right there is i've i've found that
Look at the statue on this thing.
I mean, he's a killer written all over him.
Hey, you're more blind than I thought.
Hey, Poodle's the one of the best hunting dogs there are.
Everybody knows that.
That dog there was bred for a fancy person.
And by the way, Poodle, they don't give a rat's behind
about what other people think about them.
Hey, guess what?
Just like me.
That's what old women have and people of royalty.
We just call me prints.
You know?
What can I say?
Size dogs.
Ridiculous.
I mean, the dog has got style.
Embarrassing.
I've never seen anything like him.
Stupid.
This sucker here's a hunting dog now, I'm telling you.
Sometimes I really think he is insane.
I'll tell you one thing, he got a set of cods on him to make old one.
He's got a set of cods on him.
And they showed his little balls running all.
With a haircut like that.
He'd nothing about them little.
He better have a set of cods on him.
I guarantee you.
Because he's going to eat him.
Elvis had a hairdo dude too.
And look how he's done.
Is that Joe logic?
You really are National Treasure, you know.
Elvis had a hairdo too, and look how he done.
And then they hit the banjo.
Oh, it really was the greatest TV show of all time.
What used to be funny.
I got, I got, look, I'm ripping this off.
Oh.
Elvis had a hairdo too.
Look how he's done.
Oh, man.
Is that Joe Lodge it?
If we ever kill any dog.
The camera did a great job on that,
because look, he was showing,
he was showing how pretty the area was.
Oh, that's where it started with Jase.
He used to say kill him.
Now he says try them.
You notice that?
Well, he don't ever say kill him no more.
His eyesight is getting bored.
I mean, the reveal of killer, I mean, that was, look at that.
Look at that photo.
Unbelievable.
That was a good one.
He was trotting off with them things jangling.
And Phil said, got a set of cods on him.
Yeah.
Well, you got a set of cods on him, haven't he?
Oh, anyway, somebody did ask for us to watch more Duck Dynasty on the podcast and tell behind the scenes.
So there you go.
Yeah, we'll have to find the funniest of the funny on that stuff.
I don't know how much of it we can use.
I mean, you'd think we could use all of it since we're in it, but they probably got junk against that, too.
I don't know.
Who cares?
Flag us for all I care.
I give you permission to use it.
I give you permission to use it.
I give you permission to use size.
And it was based off our lives, we ought to be able to use it.
That's great.
Oh, man.
I wonder, that'd be a good email.
Folk, y'all got any weird names for testicles?
I don't know.
Is cods nationwide or is that a local thing?
Oh, man.
How would you ask them to email that?
I just wonder.
We get so many weird emails, and now I'm going to have to go through
at what everybody calls their cots.
When I hear cods, though, I'm like transported to like 1990s,
because you really didn't hear it much after that.
It was like Phil's age, grandpa.
The only person I've ever heard that is Phil Robertson.
Oh, my grandpa did.
Hey, that's like, that thing I hit you in the cod.
Mount nauseous.
Mm-hmm.
Yep.
Oh, my.
Another one, he said, I remember my grandpa telling me one time he was, you know, he old.
He said, boys, you get older, you got to watch out.
get you cods in the water when he sit on the toilet.
Is that true, side?
I'm not there yet.
I ain't there yet.
You're still high and tight, huh?
Oh, okay.
Hello at duckcallroom.com.
Send me what you call your con.
Oh, man.
I do have one email.
Go ahead.
Fire away.
Riley G from Ohio emailed in.
Riley Green.
There we go.
I don't think that's her name.
Maybe.
But it is Riley G.
Oh, my.
Oh, no, that's not her name.
Okay.
Anyway, her boyfriend and her were currently passing through Louisiana, transporting a horse.
I have questions about that.
That has to suck to be a horse in a trailer going down I-20.
Yeah.
The wind's blowing all the time.
You know how rough it is?
I'm just saying, can you imagine driving through Shreveport and your horse?
It's bad enough.
There's probably no rougher than a human riding horse.
Jackson is the worst.
Don't even get me started on I-55 and 20 meeting in Jackson, Mississippi.
That is a nightmare.
Anyway, they actually drove straight through West Monroe.
Okay.
She pointed out the Chick-fil-A that Si thinks he can throw a rock to.
Close parentheses.
I appreciate you saying things.
But anyway, I thought it was crazy that as we crossed over the state line into Louisiana with the windows down,
that it instantly got like 10 degrees hotter and like 100.
percent more humid.
How do you guys live in this weather?
Yeah.
I'm thriving, baby.
This is a tough time of year.
But you know what?
When you wake up in January and it's 70 and y'all are snowing in, you can't walk
outside.
I don't know what January you lived.
Well, last year's a little colder.
We got shut down for a week.
We almost all froze to death because the power was out.
Yeah, but I mean, that's rare.
That doesn't ever happen here.
But I've always...
The ice storms happen about every four or five years.
Yeah.
But I've always said every time it's that cold, I'm like, I'd rather it be 100.
And here we are.
And I walk outside and just kind of smile.
I only want it to be a hundred when it's February and everything's closed.
Like there's no more hunting seasons.
And then I'm like, oh, you can get hot now.
I ain't worried about it.
Like, take the fish bite.
But as long as hunting seasons in, it can be as cold as it wants to.
Yeah.
But it's when that closes.
I'm like, yeah.
Yeah, I don't like them late February cold fronts where it's like, well, now I can't do nothing.
I can't even walk outside.
Like, this sucks.
I like, I hate the ones in March.
Yeah.
Oh, March.
That's what I'm saying.
Yeah, late February, early March, like them go and go somewhere.
Get 70 degrees so the fish move shallow.
And getting cold in March.
Yeah.
I like the heat.
I say bring it on.
I'll change clothes.
Well, I'll take the heat over cold any day.
And I have learned that we are tougher than most people.
Are we tougher or dumber?
Well, when you go to Disney World, everybody disappears in the middle of the day because of the Florida.
I'm like, it's not, there's a breeze here.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah, that ain't nothing.
Yeah, that's just our life.
Like that ain't no big deal.
It's easy.
Yeah.
But I went up north, I would crawl into a cave and.
Oh, no.
I just, I could never be a mountain man.
Not at all.
No.
Too cold.
I'm not a mountain.
Too cold, he said.
Too cold.
Well, you start figuring out while all of them people got 10 kids.
Yeah, ain't nothing else to do.
It gets dark early.
Right.
And that?
It gets dark early and it's really cold.
That plus keep warm.
Yeah.
It gets dark early and it's really cold.
Yeah.
All right, ready?
The birds and the bees on there.
We're not talking about that.
We're talking about regular bees.
And in this case, the bees are a metaphor.
Okay.
For their enemies.
Psalm 118.
We're going to start in verse 11.
Yes, they surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord, I will destroy them.
They surrounded me like bees.
They were quenched like a fire of thorns, for in the name of the Lord, I will destroy them.
You push me violently that I might fall, but the Lord help me.
The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.
If you ever feel surrounded by bees, we can introduce you to the ultimate killer bee guy.
Name's Jesus.
We'll see you all next time
in the tuck call room.
Bye.
