Starting point is 00:01:24 Clean of my stuff. Look, can you tell what I've been doing? It's like you've been putting together teal calls. Am I right? That's exactly right. I remember.
Starting point is 00:01:36 Remember that red ring of death in the palm of your hand? I built every tip off. I just finished Sarges. I mean, not Sarges. I was a quick game. Shadow. The shadow. And I was walking the aisle to see what boxes was low.
Starting point is 00:01:49 The shadow nose. And Taylor said, can you make some. Did you go, JD? Yep. Oh, man. The sun is shining. I was wondering what to get on next. There you go.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Oh, my TV's not on. And Sarges. Sarges will be after that. We're out of sorts today. Well, anytime Willie shows up I mean, you know it's a split because he's not duck hunting. There you go. That's just a joke I like to say.
Starting point is 00:02:18 That's a joke he likes to play, boy. That's just a joke I like to say. Ain't nobody ever accused Willie of being a duck's worst nightmare. No. But he's rough on them deer. He's rough on them deer. He is rough on them deer, but them ducks is. He don't care.
Starting point is 00:02:38 It's invite only. When I call him and say, hey, We got him, he comes. If I don't. I'm a fair weather. The next question is y'all hunting in the morning or evening. Fair weather or. I'll be there this evening.
Starting point is 00:02:50 I ain't going on no grind for ducks. I ain't either. Willie inspired me. I ain't going on the ice hunt with the boys. I didn't even. That was the greatest hunt they ever had down there. What, the ice? One of the ice.
Starting point is 00:03:03 Yeah, it's pretty solid. I was there. But, hey, I didn't care. It's cold. It's too cold. I'm sleepy. It's too cold. That cold weather this weekend just, oh, I don't want to get out of bed.
Starting point is 00:03:14 This weekend. Is it the weekend? I don't even know what day is. It was like 70 degrees this weekend. I know. Maybe. Okay, was it Monday that it was freezing? No, that was Tuesday, which was yesterday.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Okay. See, yeah. So I don't know what this happened to you. Day before that, I went fishing in short-legged breeches. Why, I wore shorts? Short-leg? froze. No, he ain't called up.
Starting point is 00:03:37 He ain't called on? No, I can't. They ain't. They ain't by. Well, don't tell anybody they're biting. No, they ain't biting. Duck season's closed, guys. Don't tell them they're biting.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Them deer's rutting hard, though, if you in North Louisiana. You need to go hit them deer wood. Yep. And crappies ain't doing nothing. The deer are tearing the woods up. Yeah, stay in the woods. Yeah. They're running in the water.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Don't go south of 33 bridge. Don't go there. Don't go there. Nothing there. No, don't go there. Don't go there. Don't go there. Waste your time.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Where Stoke Creek comes into the channel. Stay away. Ain't nothing there. I don't, I done tried to figure that out. He tried. It's the dead sea. Dead sea, that's what it is. The dead sea, boys.
Starting point is 00:04:18 That's what old Mr. Ron used to call it. I'm out here fishing the dead sea. The dead sea. That used to be what I called Cainty. He was just dead. What are you doing, Sigh? Should we give him what the fans sent him? Yeah, go ahead and give it to him.
Starting point is 00:04:36 Yeah, go ahead and give it to him. Si, I, what, we'll get started. have enough toys and noisemakers. Yeah, before we get started, give me your bell. You're going to want to. Wait a minute. Give me your bell. You got to trade your bell for the surprise.
Starting point is 00:04:49 You got to trade your bell for this present. Do you want to surprise? Lloyd from Kingwood, Texas. I think he called me at work and asked for an address. I don't know if I want to trade my bell, though, boys. I think you're going to want to. Let's see. He said, Merry Christmas,
Starting point is 00:05:08 to sigh. I can't trade my bell. Keep spreading the gospel, brother. I wanted you to have this awesome upgrade to that bell. So I can have you, bail? I have his bell.
Starting point is 00:05:25 Give up the bell, folks. Give him as present. Because now we have... Let me see what we got from today. Oh, no. I like it. Let's see what to sound it. Well, turn it around, you dinged on.
Starting point is 00:05:37 You got a hit on the gong side. All right, we got a gong. Ladies and gentlemen, we now have a gong. We now have a gong. I like it. We have a gong now. And you can hit Johnny D with that stick. Oh, there you go.
Starting point is 00:05:52 Hold on. He likes the gong too much. For the price of one. Okay, boys. I like it. Very good, Texas. I'm wise to get some screws, though, while I put it down here while I can bang it.
Starting point is 00:06:05 I don't have to hold it Go on. What? You're going to be like, oh yeah. You're going to be like T-Rex, huh? Bang a gong. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:14 Get it on. But that shows you how much we love you. Because we could have hid that forever. I like it. I think we need to. Let me do something here. He wants to hear it without his earmuffs off. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:26 That's got to get sound too. I like it. All right. Thank you, sir. I appreciate that. What if you hold? Well, we got to get some screws and screws right there. Hey, I like it.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Oh, boy. He got a bigger stick. I'm going to throw stuff at that. All right. Well, ladies and gentlemen, we have a gong. Thank you. That's right, boy. So there's your first Christmas present, Sigh.
Starting point is 00:06:48 We got another Christmas present, too. We got some cups with our names on them. What was his name? And a knife. AJ. We got a knife. Yes, in my office. It's a utility knife, though, that uses the razor blades.
Starting point is 00:07:01 It's the greatest. It's the best thing I've been given in a while. Box cutter. Yeah, I need them to open up my... Oh, it says duck call room. It says duck call room on a real free. And I cut the whole top off the box. Well, there you go, buddy.
Starting point is 00:07:15 It's in my office. Perfect. Swing by there. And it's going to have my name on it. And maybe one day somebody will send us some ice cream. That and they can't. There ain't none. It don't exist.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Don't exist. Because it ain't terrible. It's a... Size out, by the way. He's studying his gone. He's just like a kid on Christmas. Why do I get this toy to work? Ice cream is amazing.
Starting point is 00:07:37 I wish I knew who started that. Remember? If it ain't black walnut, it ain't ice cream. Oh, here we go. There you go. I ain't ever met an ice cream that I'd frown at. I'm just going to be honest. I'll try.
Starting point is 00:07:50 I agree with you on that. I agree with you on that. I'm not, I don't like mint chocolate chip, but... Are you serious? But I'll eat it, but I don't like it. I love mint chocolate. That's my go-to. You had to be born in the 90s to like that stuff.
Starting point is 00:08:04 I wasn't born in the 90s, sir. You scared it, though. Well, yeah. We round up to it. You can't? No? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Yeah. I'm a product of the 90s for sure. We have a gong boy. He is in on this guy. We're going to take a break to get side back and let him just bang on that gong for a while. Hey, what are you going to do? You know, you had them bongo bells. What if you have bongo gongs?
Starting point is 00:08:29 What would Christine do about that? Oh, no. How she's doing, boy. The woman, don't want me to be able to be able. Yeah. You can take that home. Have you ever thought she might just want you to not be noisy? I get in trouble for being noisy.
Starting point is 00:08:44 That's why I'm happy. Well, you sure are happy a lot, mate. You sure are happy a lot. I'm telling you, hey, you got to be happy, boys. Hit that gong and take us to a break. Yeah, gong us out of here, Sime. Let's take a break. Here it is.
Starting point is 00:09:06 All right, look, springtime is here. It's warming up. You know what that means? That means more. outside cook and and y'all know we love to eat beef around here and that's what because of our friends over at try tell's beef makes such a good product baby ain't it good it's so good it's our friend sall robertson would say buy on the grill look before we got tritels getting ready for a cookout man somebody had to run the grocery store do all the things grab whatever was left in case you were late in the day and you
Starting point is 00:09:34 never really know where that beef come to them but with tritels beef we skip the grocery store and do it a different way. Triedails comes from a family ranch out in Texas. They're a fifth generation American ranch, so they've been at it for a while. Now, look, the beef comes straight from their ranch and other ranchers they work with who raise cattle the same way. Their steaks are properly aged and shipped straight from the ranch to your door.
Starting point is 00:09:58 We threw a couple of ribbyes on the grill. Look, salt, pepper, garlic, hot fire, that's all you need. Look, because I tell you what, when the beef comes from people who raise cattle for a living, you can taste the difference. the tenderness and the flavor are fantastic. So if you're stocking the freezer for grilling season, go check out Triedails beef.
Starting point is 00:10:15 I know in size case, Christine loves it, which is just a, she doesn't eat meat. She ain't a big meat easier, folks. Yeah. Just go to tribeef.com slash. That's tribeef.com slash support ranch families and eat some dang good steak. Hey, Saie, you want to see something awesome?
Starting point is 00:10:33 What? Watch this. Look at what I found in my closet. that I've been waiting until Oh, whoa, whoa, my bad, everyone. We've got nipples. Check this out.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Oh, what did it say? Merry Christmas, everybody? No. You. Merry Christmas, Jack. Just Jack. Yeah. If you ain't Jack, you're out.
Starting point is 00:10:57 I'm out to see my closet. I was so excited. Hey, that's why he was singing. What was you singing? When I came in here, Felice, not be died. Lod Christmas. months.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Felice Navidah. Are we going? Yeah. Two bailes. I'm still trying to figure out how I ended up seeing your nipples today, but that's fine. It happens sometimes. I see them every day. Hey, the podcast had just been raided, boys.
Starting point is 00:11:27 Yeah, we just been raided. Yeah. My bad, I was just trying to hide this amazing Duck Dynasty T-shirt. Do you think I could sell this on eBay? If Si reached over and put his name on it, you could. Oh, yeah. I mean, this thing's cool. I got the one that's got sad with like Christmas lights on it.
Starting point is 00:11:44 I got one of those two. I found my old Duck Dynasty shirt drawer. That's my bottom drawer of my... Oh, it's the bottom. My deal. You know, it's been six years, seven years? Since Duck Dynasty? When was the last episode?
Starting point is 00:12:00 15, right? March of 15 or something like that? No. I think so. It's been a minute. The last episode is... Seven years. Excuse me. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:10 That's amazing. Seven years ago? Mm-hmm. It's already been that quick. You'll have to look up. March of 2017. Was the last one there? Oh, 17.
Starting point is 00:12:21 March of 2017? That's still five years. That is five years ago. I mean, we're crowding five on them. That's still amazing. Yeah. That's a sixth of my life ago. I've been working here.
Starting point is 00:12:33 I didn't have kids. A seventh. How long have you been working at Doug? Twenty-two years. You've been working for us for 20. And I've been working for Riverwood for 21 years. That's crazy. You've had a long career of working in, Guy.
Starting point is 00:12:48 I know, I need to quit. 41 years. You need you. It's time to hang it up and go fishing. I can't just hang it up and go fishing. You can give me a little more warning than I did when he quit. When he walked in through a bag of reeds in my life and said, I'm done. Well, I'll finish the, whatever that call I'm building.
Starting point is 00:13:06 You better enjoy them because that's the last one. That's exactly how I quit. He walked through them doors right there, threw me a Ziploc bag full of teal reeds and said, I'm done, get somebody else to do this crap. Because I'm a movie star now. Don't you know?
Starting point is 00:13:20 Gone. Haven't you heard? And me, Godwin, and Jays looked at each other like, I loved it. For real? He'd been waiting to do that for years. And then I called, I called Willie. I said, hey, I think your uncle just quit.
Starting point is 00:13:35 I'm not sure. I quit, but I'm not sure. Did you tell you? Wellie first or did you just tell Martin? He walked in here and told us. I don't think he made up his mind until he was driving up here. It was, no. He made up his mind sitting there when he couldn't find his tea jug.
Starting point is 00:13:52 I was driving here and then it just hit me. What are you doing, idiots? It was a Wednesday night, so he was headed to church anyway, and we was working a little late to leave here and go to church. That's right. They had to work late. And he walked through them doors right there, through that bag of reach in my lap
Starting point is 00:14:09 and said, tell them they got to find somebody else to do this, I'm done. And turn around, walked out. And I was like, wait, what? That's what? When Willie comes to him and he said, wait a minute, Martin told me you, and I said, hey, how much you realize?
Starting point is 00:14:22 And he said, what are you mean? Realize what? I said, I'm a big movie star now. I'm not going to do this crap no more. You did have the worst. I would not be able to do your job. I don't know how you did it for that long. How long did you do that?
Starting point is 00:14:37 Hey, what? I come over here in 93 and whenever I quit. So. He probably quit in 2015, 14, 14 or 15. Well, God, 20 to 22 years. How many? No, no, because look, here's the deal about that. I actually standardize the reeds for this company.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Thank you. Which made it easier for them to put it in and make it sound the same every time. Thank you. But every now and then. Every now and then he'd miss. They've done the smartest thing they've ever done, okay, is they hired Jay Stone. And Jay Stone modernized the commander. No, the smartest thing we ever did was got Jace Robertson out of this room.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Oh, boy. Because he had it convinced. Oh, he had y'all convinced he was the only one that could do it. And that this was the only way it could be done. Oh, yeah, and the only way it can be done. So we couldn't streamline it and make it. it no faster. Oh no. No, that's why I said the greatest thing you ever did was when you hired Jay Stone because Jay Stone looked around. But those two things went hand and hand. He desimicated. So he looked
Starting point is 00:15:45 around and said, hey, I can beat this. Yeah. I remember looking at Jay's system. I was sitting there cutting them stupid. I was sitting there cutting them stupid wigs. We actually had sold, what, 1.3, I think. When it was at his peak? I don't know. I was building them. I wasn't I wasn't up here. I was building them at my house and bringing a tub up there every day. Yeah. Yeah. I think everybody was doing it.
Starting point is 00:16:12 Yeah. Plus the other 14 people. You got to go out there in that shop and build them. Clipping them reeds. I still got reed cuttings in my carpet of my house. But back to the job, that's the most monotonous, boring, same thing doing for what? eight, ten hours, whatever it took to do. You ain't ever worked ten hours.
Starting point is 00:16:39 Not since I've been here anyways. Well, not first. Maybe four and then five later. Here's what I'll say for Sy. He was there every day between 7.30 and eight, because we were too. But he's the only man I knew that took a pre- and post-lunch nap. He went in there and laid down for 30 minutes before lunch. Power nap, boy.
Starting point is 00:16:59 Woke up to eat, took an hour nap after lunch. Hey, I'm probably the only human being in his first. that actually got a nap in and spent 24 and a half years in the military. You got a nap in every day. You got two in a day at Duck Commander. When I first started working down there. Well, I could pull two off in the military. Even Si has limited.
Starting point is 00:17:21 I got me some coffee. And Cy was on the couch, snoozing. At 7 o'clock in the morning. Oh, it'll all bade them, ma'am. I know that. So we'd go out there. Well, I'm just saying it wouldn't irritate me if somebody was supposed to be working. He's taking a two-hour nap after dinner.
Starting point is 00:17:40 It was about 10 o'clock. He'd come out there with me and Jason, be building calls, and he'd come out there and he'd start building reads. And then Kay would call us for dinner at 12, and we'd all go in there and eat. And then he'd take a nap, and then about 2.30, he'd come back out there. And he'd say, I've had enough of this, boys. I'm going to the house.
Starting point is 00:18:03 Yeah, now he was there between 730 and 8, but he was gone by 3.30. Oh, yeah. He followed the U.B.S.S. man out of there. But. See y'all. They never run out of reeds. They always had reeds. They always had reeds. Put the duck calls together.
Starting point is 00:18:17 That's why Phil was one of them, a couple of them, Jay said something about it. Phil said, hey, leave your uncle long. He's doing the reeds. You never have to wait for him. The reeds are always there. Need a boy alone. Yeah, I agree. I never said anything.
Starting point is 00:18:32 I always was like, never met somebody that took a pre-lunch nap and a post-lunched I found that curious. Got to have you a nap. The other thing is when we moved... Hey, how do you think I got to be this pretty? But look, I agree, Rip Van Winkley's a nap, boys.
Starting point is 00:18:47 But look, here's the other thing. When we moved everything from down there, Si still went down there at 7 o'clock at the morning and took a nap on their couch for like the first year. Like the first year, he still went to fill of caves every day and took a nap. You see any couch in here? that's why I ain't quit we didn't have a cap that's what you say hey you're in the groove oh that old blue that old blue couch had an imprint aside out there oh man that was fantastic
Starting point is 00:19:17 that's a good time that's a walk down memory lane I would fix that that's a that's been a lot of my best memory okay infield went and killed some woodies and and when we come home we had kill seven yeah so I brought them all in the house we picked them in Phil sitting there picking them in the kitchen and we get clean them and hey there is a duck missing and Phil said hey what's the problem here
Starting point is 00:19:49 we killed seven where they're at you didn't bring them all in I said oh no no no no I brought them all in and about that time Kay went to put all the kids to bed and she come in with smiling and laughing and said said Phil you got to come look at this yeah and he said I ain't got time I'm she said you'll want to see
Starting point is 00:20:11 this come follow me and be quiet you know so we went in there in Jason's room and Jason is asleep and he's got a big old pretty Drake wood duck gross no it was it was gorgeous
Starting point is 00:20:27 and look I'm serious it was he's got him and he's curled over with him and he is found asleep with him holding him against his head. And they wonder why them kids all had lies. Hey, breasted up. Phil looked at it and told him I told him.
Starting point is 00:20:43 That's what I'm talking about. About eight duck louse just crawled off that duck and into Jason's hair. But hey, it's stuck with him because hey, he's been hunting them ever since. Amen. All right. Well, let's take another break. We'll be back right there.
Starting point is 00:20:55 Take a break, boys. Boy, I've been cleaning out my shop. Yeah. What was in there? Good. My wife has been doing that. How do you accumulate all that stuff? Very easy.
Starting point is 00:21:13 I've been cleaning out my shop, and I've been taking it one corner at a time going down the wall. And I got to my fishing baits. And son, I had a tackle store there. You want some discount bait? Yeah, you want some discount baits? I'll take them. I don't even need to get into that. I can't tell you how much money I got in fishing tackle.
Starting point is 00:21:33 You don't even know. Oh, I'm aware. No. No, I did it. last summer. When I got the COVID. When I got the COVID. He's done some inventory.
Starting point is 00:21:41 I organized my tackle boxes. I prefer no one listen to this part and don't take inventory. Just go buy some new stuff. Well, see, that's what I did. It's an expensive sport. I got to digging through all the compartments in my boat. And I was like, I knew I had another package of these. I knew I had this other chatterbait.
Starting point is 00:22:00 I knew that. And yeah, buddy did a, I'd hate to know how much money I had in chatter bait that I I've bought it. That's unbelievable. And how much of it that has been lost or just disappeared? Oh, that's all found now. I got it all. So you think.
Starting point is 00:22:15 Well, there ain't a compartment in my boat I didn't go through. I mean, I still got a bunch at my house, too, that I tinker with and dye and play with colors and all that kind of stuff. Trying to make them better. I'm fixing. I'm fixing a, I'm a tinker. I'm a trained. I'm trying to get it. Come on.
Starting point is 00:22:33 I'm going to get the thing off the wall and get the spiders keel. I remember when Phil found a hackle-making kit. A what? A hackle. Hackle. Hackle-making kit. Okay. Then we were starting to,
Starting point is 00:22:48 we killed every kind of bird there was to get the feathers off of them. Okay. Do you catch any off that bald eagle? No, we didn't shoot the balled eagle. I was just kidding. You said every kind of bird. I was just.
Starting point is 00:23:00 Well, no, no, we didn't kill him. They didn't bite him near as good as they did now. No, no, no. Look, let me tell you what my, hey, the favorite one, guess what it is? Hackle making. Wild turkey. Nope. Squarer.
Starting point is 00:23:11 Wood duck. Kick and chicken. Wood duck? Make a good jig? Hey, you pull off his top notch, grab it, and put it all off. One pull, and then you put it on. I don't know, I used to remember the size of the hook we put it on. Probably a number two.
Starting point is 00:23:27 Put it on there, wrap it, and glue it. Put you a little, number five. spinner on the front of it. Hey, then you go down there and go down in the Cypress lakes and throw that thing up against the cypress tree and fluff it. Because when you pull it,
Starting point is 00:23:47 it slicks down, but then when you stop it, all them rainbow colors do that. And when it does that, hold on, because he fixed it hit it. They picked me out. That's why I went turkey hunting.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Turkey hunting's all right, but. It happens during the cropish spawn. So I'm out. He's out, boy. But I did go one time and kill one. They said it was a biggin. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:24:15 He had a long beard off the front of it. Had some fights on him? Yeah, they was going nuts over that. I didn't know. Because I didn't know what a good turkey is because I just never done it, you know. It ain't much of it. I was just looking at all that maribou that's on their chest. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:31 They would say, man, you need to be fired up. I said, I am. You put some charteroes on that right there. That's not, you'd have some. Yeah, you'd have some, yeah. You'd got some crappy, boy. Yeah. That fried wild turkey about five things in have.
Starting point is 00:24:44 Oh, no, I didn't say nothing about not eating it. Yeah. One of my uncles was a bait maker, hackle. And, like, popping lures for the fly rod. Mm-hmm. And, man, he, when he had opened his tackle box, everything was homemade. It was gorgeous. Oh, I got it.
Starting point is 00:25:06 He made them out of turkey feathers, duck feathers, squirrel, hide. You're talking about some pretty baits. And, I mean, they would, when he threw them, he called them. I've done it all. I got all that mess. I got all that best for tying your own baits and pouring your own legs. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:25 I finally realized, you know what, that stuff's pretty cheap. It is. If you charge yourself by the higher. The art. It's cheap. Like, it's pretty cheap. And it don't take but one time for how. hot lead to explode all over you before you realize I may be in over my head here.
Starting point is 00:25:39 Oh yeah. I just glad I had a jacket on. I was like, okay, note to self. Do not put anything with water close to that. That is not good. Man dad used to fly fish for brim. Blue little pop and love at Wholen Lake. Yep.
Starting point is 00:25:57 Wall and Lake full of them. And she and get around inside the tree. That was pretty long. That was the first ultra light. for the fly rod The bamboo fly rod I remember it Yeah
Starting point is 00:26:11 And that was pretty Pretty neat Pretty fun time And it is It's a lot of fun Yeah it takes some skill to do that I would just Because we'd be out there in the boat
Starting point is 00:26:22 You're brim fishing I'd just roll that arm back like that Like that I never got into all that I couldn't I'd tie myself up my knot You go back till your cowboy days in You'd be really
Starting point is 00:26:35 Roping. There's too many trees around here to be doing the hole. He's got a whip at one time. Just roll it. And you'd be surprised how far you can get it, just doing that. Yeah. That's like skipping jigs under boat ducts. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:53 I've developed that skill. Yeah. That took a while, though. Yeah, have any idea how many backlashes I pulled out and figure out how to do that way? Yeah, before you figure that out. I can skip that chatter bait just about anywhere now. I don't need much to get it through there. Buddy, I'll tell you what, I went through a lot of floor carbon fishing line to get there.
Starting point is 00:27:14 That stuff's expensive. You can't make that at home. You can't make fluorcarbon at your house. Oh, it's a good time. Look, you tell duck season closed, we're sitting here talking about fishing. And it's supposed to be 80 degrees on Friday. And it's like. Well, hey, go fishing.
Starting point is 00:27:29 You know, what are you going to do? When it's that hot, go fish. Yeah. Well, you can't because duck season open Saturday. Now, you still go fishing. Well, only in Arkansas. That's fine. That's why he's having fish in the middle of the day.
Starting point is 00:27:40 You can duck out in the morning and go fishing. Godwin's living the dream. I pretty much am. God's blessed me. I'm going to be honest. Ain't none of us called in a nightmare. That's very true. I'm just going to call it like it is.
Starting point is 00:27:58 I ain't one of us caught up in the middle of no nightmares. Hunting in the morning, fishing in the afternoon, and eating at dinner. and loving every day. That sounds like a country and western song. That song sure ain't Western. You want a person. You want a person. Tune to it.
Starting point is 00:28:12 Oh, Lord. Well, let's take another break. We'll be back right after this. Right after it. Can I tell you what happens when he tagging on jig? You end up and you got one left. And he end up on a bow of the boat in Lake Darbon. And what's it, Cleo Foster.
Starting point is 00:28:31 That little boat running right there, Cleo Foster. And you end up and you're on the bow trying to get that thing on, and the wind's rolling. And you're down to the last one. But the wind stops for just a minute. And then it picks up again while you're out there off to buy all that boat. And the next thing you know, you're touching the brush top you're hung in with your feet because you just fell off the front of the boat because your boat hit a stump when that wind picked up.
Starting point is 00:28:57 That happened to me. That's a true story. You fell out of the boat with me before. I have fallen out of the boat a lot. I think you... Where's a life, Jagger? You fell out of the boat when we were a true. up there catching them small mile.
Starting point is 00:29:08 I showed it when that man had that electronic throttle. Yeah. And went from idle to full board because he didn't know how to ease. No, he eased it up. You just lost your balance. Wow. No. I showed it.
Starting point is 00:29:21 He didn't ease it up. I ended up in some 60 degree water in that face. We was trying to get his hat. He's out there. He said, could y'all kind of hurry up? Don't worry about that because he said, this water's cold. I don't know. Cold, man.
Starting point is 00:29:35 Of course, it is up north. I'm up there treading water and I'm like, okay, this ain't too bad. Then I just start getting colder. It gets cold. And I'm like, hey, forget that hat. Y'all come get me. Come get me. Come get the kid here.
Starting point is 00:29:48 So I'm like, yeah, I don't know. I have fallen out of a many of them. But I'll get on the edge of them. I mean, they don't scare me. So, you know, I put myself in, I don't fall out from the middle of the dang boat. Like one guy was talking about, my back, we've flown all day. My back was tight. And I was on the back deck right by the motor.
Starting point is 00:30:06 Just stretching. And I was stretched. I was arched all the backer. And when that boy hit that gas, and he didn't stop, neither. He was going. My back hit the motor and my feet went over my head.
Starting point is 00:30:21 And he's out the back of the boat. And the guy didn't even know it. No, they didn't know it. I said, hey, hey, we got a man overboard here. Man overboard. Yeah. So everything. And it was like a one day speaking appearance.
Starting point is 00:30:34 So I really, I didn't even have a change of clothes. I barely, I had a fresh pair of underwear back at the room, but that's about it. Like, you know, everything else I had hanging in the shower in the hotel room. You tell out of the boat with me at Darbaugh. At Cleo, too. I falling in. Cleo is a treacherous area. You fall a lot, Martin.
Starting point is 00:30:54 He does. He's not very. I told you. He's too long. Top-heavy. He's too long. We've already discussed my heavy head. Well, you're falling out of duck blinds, you've fallen out of boats.
Starting point is 00:31:05 He's not balanced, boys. I'm top-heavy. You're the only person who just fell down from COVID, passing out. I didn't do that. Oh, I'll hit the ground now. He makes the noise when he does it, too. Why do you think whenever I get on a tree stand, I hook in? There ain't one of my tree stands that ain't got a lifeline.
Starting point is 00:31:24 That's a good practice. Waiting this year yet. Now, I see, waiting, I stay up right 99% of the time. I don't believe it. He don't believe it. I don't believe it. I do. I hunt with him a lot.
Starting point is 00:31:38 I stay upright 99%. But I know how to fall when I wade too where I don't get wet. Straight to your knees. Hit the knees quickly and then get back up. Then just get back up. But, I mean, yeah. Sometimes that don't work, though. Sometimes you go to your knees and it's still too deep.
Starting point is 00:31:55 Well, the problem is your knees. Yeah, it's different for you. There's a lot closer to the ground. Yeah, you're in the no-legs area there. I mean, I fall to my knees. I'm at Gobbin. height like in the water. Like me and Godwin, we're looking at each other eye to
Starting point is 00:32:09 eye then. My feet hurt my up there. So I know if Godwin's standing there, if I hit my knees, I'm good. You try. Sa, what's you looking forward to? I know you're leaving town. I'm looking forward to heading north for about four days. Four days.
Starting point is 00:32:25 You're going to the green gate? We're going to the green house to hunt deer, the green motel. The big stand. Yeah. Well, there. Then we're going to hunt a duck. There's about 15 people fitting that thing. I know.
Starting point is 00:32:41 Yeah. Where is this? It's going to be a party. That's all I'm going to say. I'm not going to divulge any more information. I've been there, haven't I? Yeah, you've been there. I didn't know it's green.
Starting point is 00:32:53 The stand is. Oh, that's the, okay. The big green stand. The big green stand. Is this the, do we have the, what's it called? The push car? No, not a push cart. The rickshaw.
Starting point is 00:33:07 The rickshaw. Whatever happened to the rickshaw? I don't know, but me and Willie took a rickshaw ride in Atlanta the other day. Me, Willie, and Brittany. What? Oh, yeah, I've seen one picture. Yeah. They have rickshaws in Atlanta?
Starting point is 00:33:18 Yeah, they did for the SEC championship. Yeah, we took a little rickshaw ride. Wow. That guy's cheating, though. He's on electric bicycle. Oh, okay. The only way to do it. He like me.
Starting point is 00:33:30 He just pushed that throttle. Well, he'd been doing it a little while. Yeah. That's slick. We picked him because he was wearing an old tree bark camouflage shirt. I said, well, I said, do you know anything about that shirt you're wearing? He said, no, I got it at Goodwill. I said, man, that's like one of the first two camouflage is ever made.
Starting point is 00:33:49 You have Bill Jordan with real tree and you had tree bark. Yeah. And then we got complicated with the camouflage world. Yeah, we did. But you had them two originals that were like, I saw it. And I was like, man, that's cool. I ain't seen that shirt. It's like an old wool shirt.
Starting point is 00:34:06 I mean, that thing was from the 1900s for sure. It was cool to see. But, yeah, he gave us a ride to the stadium. I felt bad when I thought he was peddling. Then I looked up there and saw he had that same switch on his that I got on my back-coop bike. I said, oh. Oh, I know what you do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:24 I know what you do. As long as you don't run out of battery, we fine. Yeah, you're faking it. Yeah. What else? What else we got to have that's good for tucking shotgun? shotguns. We've got to have good shotguns, but I mean...
Starting point is 00:34:37 You got to have one and we'll go boom, boom, boom. Now, Johnny DeC said breakfast. A good headlight that fits on your head would strap. I struggle with that department too, obvious, for the same reason. My head. My head. I know of a good one. A good light.
Starting point is 00:34:57 Good waiters. Good friends. Need them. They're options. Yep, but you're optional. I ain't going duck hunting by myself. Sometimes hunting by yourself is a lot of fun. Really?
Starting point is 00:35:09 I've done it like three or four times duck hunting by myself and I was like... Here's what I tell you about duck hunting by yourself. You'll find out just what kind of shot you are. Yep. Maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it. It puts you on an island. That's right. And you'll notice too, you shoot way better by yourself.
Starting point is 00:35:25 Yeah. The smaller the crowd duck hunting, the better you shoot 100%. You ain't worried about... You're not in a race. You're not in a race. You're not in a race. a race. Take your time.
Starting point is 00:35:34 Ready to do that. And a blind. It'd be great. As low man on the totem pole, when there's a lot of people, I'm just sitting in the middle. That's funny that you said that. Because even when you hunt with different people, you shoot better. Okay. When me and stone go down to Venice, I don't miss.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Yeah. We, I mean, we hammer them. Do you miss here? Oh yeah, I miss up here. Because I'm always... No, he's in a race. He's trying to beat Jason, Big Brother. Well, hey, because if you don't shoot quick...
Starting point is 00:36:16 Yeah, you're out. You're out. I was like the other day when all them woodies come in, I was drinking coffee. It was right at shooting ours. And I just seen two wood ducks go below the porch. Well, I thought that's just two. They'll get them.
Starting point is 00:36:31 Well, when they went to shoot and ducks went everywhere. And I was like, too late, too late. Well, when it's early, I have time, I don't even chew because I can't see them. And I'll tell you this about being quick with that box. Last year I was down there messing around. And I consider myself on the quicker side of shooting a shotgun. I looked behind us, saw two Woody's grab my gun, and before I got my gun to my shoulder, Phil had already killed one of them.
Starting point is 00:37:02 Yeah. And he said in the four. at the time. Yeah, yeah. And we must have seen them at the exact same time, and he went, he was, I hadn't even got my gun to my shoulder yet, one of them woodies was already folded. I'm not that quick.
Starting point is 00:37:15 I'm not that quick. Well, I've noticed just watching through the years, when you hear a wood duck, when Phil hears a wood duck, his hand immediately goes to his gun. Yeah. Because you never know where they're going to pop out. They might come by you, they might not, but he's going to be ready.
Starting point is 00:37:32 Well, he was in that little blind at the beginning, of the North Lane right there. I'm a head, bop, I said, wow. Man, I'm half your age. Oh, no, no. That's one of the things. Ain't many people going to beat me, but not only he beat me, he beat me and killed him.
Starting point is 00:37:48 I said, God, me. I've seen him do some things. Incredible. Incredible. He's a shotgun, man. He's quick, and he's, I never could. I catch up with to a duck and cover him with my barrel, then I pull a chair.
Starting point is 00:38:04 keep swinging and kill it. I never could throw out in front of one and judge the distance. And see, that's the way I shoot. I can't figure the distance out. Oh, I'm just looking for a sight picture. I'm looking for that picture on the end of my gun barrel. And when I know it's there, I'm like, yep, paw. Well, see, I'm just the opposite.
Starting point is 00:38:21 I got to catch up to him, and once I can't see the duck, I pull the trigger. Now, what you're doing is, like, that's how I snap shoot, too. If something sneaks in there, you just get behind him and get out in front of him. Just go swing all the way through him, you'll kill him. If you pull that trigger about the time you get to his nose, you'll kill it. Well, no, no, because when I can't see him, I pull the trigger and kill it. Yeah. That's the same when they're coming right towards you.
Starting point is 00:38:43 You got to shoot above him. Because he's coming forward to you. You think he shoot under him, and you miss it. You got to shoot above him. He's coming towards you. Yeah. Shoot over his head, and you'll kill him every time. But it is funny.
Starting point is 00:38:58 That mess is. It's amazing. But who you hung with? has a lot on how well you shoot. Oh, absolutely. It really does. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:09 Oh, yeah. I agree. Because I rush it too much when I'm with Phil and Jason and him. Yeah. Because they're so quick. It's amazing. If you don't get up, they don't even shoot there in the summer and nothing. They don't shoot until duck season, that.
Starting point is 00:39:24 That's why you got to do like me. Don't shoot it. What they shoot, man. Well, no, no, most of the time, if there's like four or five ducks come in, and there's a couple of hens, I shoot the hens. He's an anged stomp her, boys. Okay. Because the reason is, I'm telling you,
Starting point is 00:39:41 they're going to for the drakes every time. Phil and Jason or Robertson are going to shoot the drakes. I look for the one just trying to be slick and hang out behind everybody. I look for the one that don't trust the rest of his friends. I want that gene out of the gene. He's a little bit of back. Yeah, let's get him. I'll kill him when he comes in.
Starting point is 00:39:58 That's where I start. Y'all kill the close ones. I'll take care of these out here. Well, let's take our last break. We'll be back right after this. All right, we're back. We're back. Hello at duck callroom.com is the inbox.
Starting point is 00:40:13 Look, folks. We appreciate y'all emailing in. Thanking the time to send all that. Johnny D., what's in there today? Check out Jeff's big deer he sent in. That was a big deer. Did he hit it with his truck? Because if not, he's hunting awful close to the highway.
Starting point is 00:40:30 Is that Thomas Road? But that's that new real tree. That's that real tree blue. Yeah. Yeah. A little tree blue. Yeah. Well, Jeff got him a old monster because he just looked on the side of the road.
Starting point is 00:40:40 And he literally, he saw it. So he's like, I'll take a picture. That thing's huge. Which is sad that it got hit by a car. But he also took the antlers. Oh, yeah. I got a story to tell about that. I would have to.
Starting point is 00:40:52 Tell us a story. No, look, I'm driving down the road. There's a little spring down there off the road. So I stopped and get me some water to get me a drink. Okay. I walk down. there and I look and look there's mud it's mud all the way around that spring but there's one
Starting point is 00:41:11 deer track in the mud the other two or the other three caved in or whatever but there's one deer track and hey it's a bull yeah so me and my buddy was going deer hunting the next morning it was open yeah and I told him I said I should go sit at that spring because there's a big buck just drinking there.
Starting point is 00:41:38 And he talked me out of it because we have found a place where it looked like a just, they had been a deer wallow. I mean, look, hey, it was this deep in soft dirt. Literally, they had tracked it down
Starting point is 00:41:53 till it was a mightnare 8, 10 inches deep. Fresh deer track. So he talked me into going there. Well, guess what happened that morning? some guy had quit hunting like at 930, was driving by
Starting point is 00:42:06 and looked down in that spring, 14 point. Good. Putting him a drink. Got it. He just pulled off the road. Got it out. Bia!
Starting point is 00:42:21 Could have been yours. It could have been mine. I told him, I said, I knew I should have sit there. I knew I should have sit there. And you talked me out of it. I said, I'd have killed. that big joker. He'd have got him.
Starting point is 00:42:34 Could have got him. But any time there's something weird about to set up, go there. Go there. You didn't go where you got. I didn't go with you. All right. Well, what else is in there? We got a road kill.
Starting point is 00:42:45 We got road kill. And then Dylan. Dylan from Bean Station, Tennessee. Uh-oh. Is that a real place? I have no. I know. Bean Station.
Starting point is 00:42:55 Bean Station. Bean Station. God is blessed him beyond measure. He can't complain of. all. He has a beautiful wife. Four boys. He said shout out Mason, Caden, Easton, and Owen. That's a good name. Oh, and a good name. Life is near perfect, but, but he's 30 years old. He's 5'8, and he's losing his hair. Ah, you just getting to the good part of your life. Okay, I'm going to turn this over to the two sitting in front of me. You just, so he has zero confidence, he says.
Starting point is 00:43:31 Can you help this man? Hey. You just now getting there, hammer. It's been no big deal. Hey, look, the best thing about this is, life goes on, my man. Let me tell you. What does he have to have confidence with? He got a good woman.
Starting point is 00:43:48 He got four kids. And four boys. That's what I'm, I don't know. Buy your hat. Just save that sucker. And if you just got to have hair, buy you a wig. Well, no, just stay with it. Shave it off.
Starting point is 00:44:05 Don't try to hold on to that middle stuff. Get rid of all over. Let it bong. Just get it off of there. He said don't try and hold on to that middle stuff. Or if you want to, take a black magic marker and just show you some of it. No, just let it bump. I said just be how God made you.
Starting point is 00:44:23 Yeah. I'm going to be great soon. If you want to go Drew Breese's route and get the hair plugs and the transplants and all that, that's fine. I've always wondered about that because, hey, mine's falling out. Okay. What's going to keep it if you get a transplant, keep that from falling out? I don't know. Apparently, it's got better roots.
Starting point is 00:44:40 I ain't sure. Hey, I don't believe it. Hey, Mr. Crank cleaned them pretty good. That's it. Some people look good with ball head. I would feel weird if you had hair. Howie Mandel is one of them. He looks good, ballheaded.
Starting point is 00:44:56 Okay. All right. You heard it here first, folks. Howie Mandel? How is he told you. Good looking man. He's a good looking man. If you needed any inspiration, just go watch that show that Howie Mandel's on.
Starting point is 00:45:11 That's it, boy. Deal or no deal? Yeah, that's the thing. That's right. But I mean, there's lots of good bald-headed people in this world. Deal with it. Hey, here's what I tell. I remember it didn't bother me at first.
Starting point is 00:45:23 Huh? I think it did bother me at first. I was kind of, it didn't really bother me. I was just a little sub-being. conscious about it. Well, here's what I knew. You know, my background is biology. So inevitably, I took genetics classes and all that stuff.
Starting point is 00:45:39 Okay. Talking about dominant and recessive traits and inheritance and all that. I looked at my grandfather on one side, bald. Oh, yeah. I looked at my grandfather on the other side, bald. Uh-oh. I looked at my dad, ball. Okay.
Starting point is 00:45:54 I said, boys. This runs in the family. I came to grips with this at about 18. I said, I ain't going to have no heritage. I didn't realize at 23 we were going to kick that process into overdrive. Okay. But, you know, now I am what I am. Who cares about hair?
Starting point is 00:46:09 My dad had a full head of hair. But on mama's side, the hankins slit. Yeah, right there. Yeah. Well, hey, look, Talis Savalas was a man that, you know. Who? Talis Savalas. He was a detective.
Starting point is 00:46:26 Yeah, he was on an old... I can't remember the name of it. but when I said that God would remind me of telling us about us I guarantee you Hey so look Hey he was a movie star I am too
Starting point is 00:46:38 Well he is too So there you go Don't worry about being bald my man That's fine Things are coming your way Get you a good beanie You gonna need it That head gets cold in the wintertime
Starting point is 00:46:48 Yeah But you'll be fine That's why I'm hunting a beanie All the time I want to go gray It's coming soon I went gray at 30 At 30
Starting point is 00:46:57 My dad went gray gray early and so did all his brothers like 33, 34. Oh, it's coming. And so I'm assuming I'm getting it soon. I'm going to look like Santa Claus is going to be legit. You're about to adjust your budget for shampoo though, my man. Be thankful. I'm talking about the guy.
Starting point is 00:47:13 I don't know. I don't know what my shampoo budget is. I just get whatever bottle of my wife has. But you can put that $6 a month back in your pocket. That's right. And buy you a little can of wax. Get that sucker smooth. How's that? Just some wax. All right.
Starting point is 00:47:29 What else was that? A rag. Next email, we got a love situation. Oh, love situation. Sounds like a high schooler, maybe. Oh, I like it. Maybe younger. I like it.
Starting point is 00:47:40 Tyvin. He has a problem. Uh-oh. He needs help. We're fixing to solve it. I like a girl. She likes me. You read the email.
Starting point is 00:47:50 Hey, half of your problem is already solved. But there's another girl who also likes me. Oh, you dirty dogs. Play on, player. Play on. And I don't want to hurt her feelings. What do I do? Which one don't he want to hurt the feelings?
Starting point is 00:48:11 Well, they both like him. Has he been dating any of them? No. They just, he, there's two girls that like him. He likes one, but apparently they're all friends and he doesn't want to hurt the third's feelings. Boy. Well, you got to make a decision here, my man.
Starting point is 00:48:26 Walking on cold. What decision is that? I'm interested to see what Uncle Stai has to say. Here's the deal. Okay, here's the deal. Do you consider yourself a player? And are you in the game? And are you in the game?
Starting point is 00:48:42 He's in the game. Okay. You know, and you've got to ask yourself this. Do I want to stay a player? Or do I want to settle down and get out of the game? that's your choices my man you either stay in the game or you settle down and go with one well i would hope he would just go with one or zero well i'm just saying that's the proper right say it's on what you want to do that's tough i say call them both and start over hey call him but hey it depends on
Starting point is 00:49:18 mark you're going for being hey stay a player son keep him as your friend and move on that's right but if he's like hey look we don't know how old the man is well i'm just saying what's his name That you may need variety in your life, my man. He was born after 2000. The name Tyvin. I was married at 21. Yeah. Maybe he's looking at marriage.
Starting point is 00:49:41 I'll say this. So whenever me and Allison first started dating, I liked Allison. She liked me. She liked you. My homeboy liked Allison, too. We were friends. Oh, homeboy liked Allison too. You don't know him.
Starting point is 00:49:53 We're still friends. Yeah. But a conversation was had, and it wasn't. like, hey man, are you okay? It was, hey man, I'm just letting you know this is going down and I don't want your feelings to get hurt. And he, I'm sure he was disappointed. He's not anymore. He's married. He's got
Starting point is 00:50:08 two kids of his own. But my advice is, you're going to disappoint people. Especially women. Especially women. But better to disappoint and be up front. Better to disappoint than to piss off. Or they may
Starting point is 00:50:27 disappoint. They're. They may disappoints you. There you go. Johnny D. You solved his problem. So just be honest. You better be careful because the one that you think likes you may not, and the one that you're about to call may be the only one it does.
Starting point is 00:50:40 You better be sure of the other one before you, you know, don't be thinking, what's that? A man ought not think more highly of himself than he ought or something like that. And that man's got to know his limitations. There you go. That's why I said, hey. But he sounds like. You better look at it and see if you still want to be a player.
Starting point is 00:50:58 Yeah, he sounds like to me he's a four-point running a food plot. That's what it sounds like to think. Oh, then you better stay in the game, my man. He said he was born.
