I saw my friend on the other side of the street.
I was heading to school with the kids.
I let go of mom's hand to wave.
I had already forgotten their lunches.
I ran over to hug her.
She came out of nowhere.
And then...
It stopped.

John David, have you been doing your push-ups every day?
Yeah, I do push-ups every day.
Because I saw the new Rocky movie that's coming out.
Oh, I love it.
Did y'all see it?
I am, what does it say?
I am Mike.
I don't know.
Can I promote that?
Mike?
I am Rocky, yeah.
The guy's name was, they want him to be Mike on there.
But anyway, it's called...
Sylvester Sloan.
Yes, but like they wanted to change his name.
You wanted to be like Mike?
No.
I'm confused.
Well, you got to watch...
What about Michael Jordan or Rocky?
Rocky.
But Sylvester Stallone.
Question mark.
Who put a question mark on the prompter?
They made another one?
Yeah, there's a new one coming out,
but it's going to tell the story about Sylvester Stallone
and him writing that he wrote the whole movie.
Rocky?
Oh, new movie?
Yes.
I'm very confused.
Okay, wait.
I play Rocky.
That's it.
Okay.
Thank you.
And you thought for some reason it was I play Mike?
No, because when you watch it, when you watch this,
The guy, they want him to call it, be Mike or something.
Boy, how bad would that movie have been if it had been named Mike?
No good.
Dun dun to do, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, da, man.
Mike.
Yeah, that would have stink.
And then instead of Adrian, it would have been like Sarah.
Just Mike and Sarah, not Rocky and Adrian.
That movie stinks on ice.
Sa, did you watch all the Rocky movies?
Did you like them?
That wasn't bad.
Wasn't bad.
The best Rocky, Rocky and Bullwinkle.
I miss those cards
I wish I could say Rocky Road was the best
but I don't really like nuts that much
but I do like ice cream
fair I can't believe they'll market
another one
so I can't get all the new Rockett
Hold on this isn't a Rocky movie
this is a movie about the making of the movie Rocky
that's right so that main actor
is actually playing Sylvester Stallone
making the movie Rocky
but it's not playing himself
No, he's too old.
No, he can't, yeah, he's way too old.
How old is Sylvester?
Also, good name.
78, I'm guessing.
80?
80.
If your name was Sylvester, would you go with Sylvester or sly?
I'd probably make you say the whole thing.
Sylvester Stallone.
But best, all me, Sylvester.
His middle name's Gardezio, so.
For real?
According to Wikipedia.
Boy, kindergarten was tough on him, so.
That's why he's so tough.
Oh, Gardinzio.
Gardenio
Yo
Garden Gio
Where's he from?
Is he from Philly?
I think so
Well, Sebastian's getting long
in the tooth
Well, you ain't young
He's from New York City
He was born in New York City
On July 6, 1946
46
Oh, he's two years old than me
Oh yeah
But yeah, you're in better shape
Than him now, Saire
Martin
Size is a $6 million
Man, he's got new lungs, new teeth
Oh, I know.
Well, Sylvester Stallone has new eyebrows, according to that photo.
Wait, he seems dubious about something.
And he's got a lot of botulinum toxin in his face, too.
That's too much pasta.
That's what it is.
Too much pasta.
Yeah.
Too much pasta.
I think that has more to do with needles.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's another five-letter word, Bo-Tox.
Bo-Toc.
We need to get sassum Botox.
I actually never been more against something in my entire life.
I think it'd be hilarious.
Just one time, if he doesn't want it, go back.
What is Botoxin?
It is a plight on the beautiful
woman of our country that's making them all
look like ghouls. I said it.
Yes.
That's what it is.
There's your Instagram clip, by the way.
Some of their face lifts?
Well, no, size, it's like they, what is it,
Martin? What's in this?
I'm going to get a lot of time.
You're going to have to look at it.
It's like a filler.
It's botulinum toxin.
It's bachiochic.
They shoot it into your.
So a bar.
This day and age, a bunch of women that are on Instagram and social media all take this toxin while they're worried about plastic water bottles killing them.
It's incredible that you would inject yourself with something called toxin, but yet microplastics will kill you.
Do you see the irony here with people?
I don't know. All the women's faces just look like this now.
Yeah, they're tight. If you look at somebody's face and it don't move, Botox.
Yeah.
Like they smile and nothing happens,
Botox.
100%.
Yeah, everybody on this fight to not look old.
Yeah, who cares?
I've been looking old and he's still.
I've been looking old since I was young.
I'm fine with it.
And the words of Phil Robertson,
time has not been kind to me.
And I'm cool with that.
Hey,
but I want to take Sine and get his hair dyed darker.
Why?
I just do.
I want to do it.
We're going to do it.
And then when he comes back to the podcast,
He's just going to look different.
I had a whole,
I had him a whole haircut lined up,
but he no-showed.
Wait, what?
You're getting your hair dyed?
I'm gonna, I'm gonna get it.
Yeah, I'm gonna take it.
Hey?
I want a trim.
Mm-hmm.
We had that lined up.
A trim for the haircut.
And then a trim for the beard.
We're gonna brush a little.
I look like a bush.
Your beard's left side,
the side I said on.
I just,
it's very.
Like, when I get up in the morning,
It's scary to look in the mirror.
I'm serious.
It's just everywhere.
Is that a new?
It's because you got them teeth.
You didn't care about this when you didn't have all your teeth.
Now you care.
Hey, I don't know.
I don't care one way the other.
This is like when big guys get skinny and can see their tallywacker again,
they start running around on their wives.
Y'all act like it ain't true.
Not me.
No, I'm not saying.
I got mad again.
Didn't want to do that.
Too many women were cat calling me.
They said, hey, you skinny legs.
None of this is true.
I don't know why.
Poor hunter.
Poor hunter.
I don't have a dozen ads to that, boys.
Why do you want your hair?
So your hair and beard trim is for you?
Who's the color for?
It ain't for nobody.
I'm just, hey, y'all said, you want to do it?
I don't care.
He's just going to do it.
Hey, you won't get a little haircut.
I'm all in on that.
You go like jet black and I'm going to have a problem.
look like jace
now jace had that
jace get on it just for men
bag from time to time don't he?
He does it himself
hey it's right
I think no does he
it's a word okay
or a little phrase
grow old gracefully
amen
there you go side
okay
but you do have new eyes
new teeth new lungs
change the outcome
hold on
going to hell in a hand basket
lungs are with Botox
you know, no, that, I've got to read up on this.
What?
Because I remember watching something on a show,
and they was doing something with needles and,
and what's saying, the ejector.
Mm-hmm.
And they was, you know.
Oh, yeah.
That's where they put it.
Right there around your eyebrow.
Yeah, and it makes your wrinkles.
I was going.
Yeah.
Now, and what comes to my mind was,
You know, plus, I mean, who was, who was that?
Somebody had a facel and they pulled it too tight.
Was it Dolly Parton?
No, no.
He's been lifting there out there.
No, she's been lifted there too.
It was a man.
A man?
A man.
Yeah, it was a man that had a facelililip.
Did he sing in Vegas?
And hey, I'm serious, the doctor must, hey, the doctor must have sat on him
and then hooked him up with some pliers that wouldn't give.
I mean, he stressed him.
He stressed him.
I can't remember who was.
Simon Cowell.
He apparently had a bad one.
Who played the bandit?
Oh, Smokey?
Yeah, the bandit.
On the show.
Bert Reynolds.
Yeah, Bert Reynolds.
Bert Reynolds got a face-in-no.
That's what it was I think of Bert.
Hold on.
And it made him look like a Chinese.
I'm serious.
If you don't put the word uh in front of it, it's okay.
You'd have thought he was abhor in that place.
It's when you add the ah, there's a problem.
Burt Reynolds did have a very bad face.
Let's see.
Wait.
It wasn't Bert Reynolds.
That looks like a-
Wax music.
No,
that wasn't hell.
I'm telling you,
that's what all this is doing to our people.
They look like ghouls.
They do look like the old ghost.
But,
really,
that is what all the top of it.
Botox is they put some kind of junk in you,
it's a smokey face off.
They inject it,
and it fills up like wrinkles.
I think that's what it boils down to, maybe.
And then they all got,
that's when you're going a little too far.
They get them,
say,
tell them women,
tell them they're beautiful, man.
Oh, no, hey.
They are.
Then they all dye themselves orange.
Don't make no sense.
Are we still talking about women?
That's like war paint.
Oh, that's the president.
Most of them,
to us war planning on.
Love you, Don.
He got both.
I've tried, you know, other diet plans,
but this diet with Ph.D., it's working.
That's because it ain't a diet.
It's actual weight loss, ain't it?
It is actual weight loss.
There you go.
Most weight loss plans have one thing in common.
They quit working eventually, and when that happens,
usually the weight comes right back.
But Ph.D. weight loss is different.
I'm 25 weeks into the PhD weight loss program and down 42 pounds.
I'm not gaining anything back.
I'm up and down right now, but I've got more energy, no joint pain off my medicine.
We all know what worked for you before doesn't always work again because your body fights weight
loss every step of the way when it's under stress.
GLP1 drugs can work as a quick fix, but they don't always take care of what's causing the
problem in the first place.
Ph.D. weight loss works with you to develop a plan that works.
with your body and focuses on restoring your metabolism for good so your body stops fighting you.
The goal isn't to lose weight once, is to never have to start over again. And right now,
you can call Ph.D. Weight Loss and mention,
and you'll get two weeks free in the program and they'll pay for your food. That's a $1,500
value completely free. Call $864-644-1900 and say,
Goan! Again, that's 864-644-1-9-0 or visit my PhDwetloss.com.
Andy from Tennessee stopped at the Crossfield, Tennessee Buckees last weekend on his way to Knoxville.
It was disappointed.
It was packed.
But he got the overbite peanut butter candy and a brisket sandwich.
And I got to tell you, boys, both were just kind of eh.
That peanut butter candy is not very good.
I fell for that trick.
I've never had that.
That's the one at the cash register.
It's not very good.
It looks good.
You should have got some chocolate covered almonds.
I'm a big believer.
Delicious.
If you're eating
if you're eating peanut butter and chocolate,
there's this guy named Mr. Reese.
He figured it out.
He nailed it out.
No reason to get away from his.
By the way, let's talk about that for a second.
If you've missed out lately on your chance to garner diabetes,
there is now a Reese's Oreo.
What?
What?
What?
That is phenomenal.
Especially in,
milkshake form. I found that out in July
the lake as they made those
into milkshakes for us. Oh,
you got to make that yourself.
Yeah. That ain't like a rig you can get it
at the DQ. He run a good
milkshake. By putting peanut butter
Oreos in it? Yeah. Wrong answer
sir. You run a good milkshake. A Recy's
Oreo is fantastic. Recy's
peanut buttery cream. That's
not even peanut buttery in a Recy's bag. No.
It's peanut buttery creme.
Cram. Uh-oh. With Oreo
cooking. Okay.
Yeah. It's
It's good.
That's got to be good.
They're good.
And I don't really love Oreos, but that was a good combo.
You know what, though?
I just went to their website.
And when I do see that there's that many ingredients,
I'm starting to think that those conspiracy theories may have a point.
Neosin's good for you.
What's a partially defatted peanut?
That's bioengineer.
I want my peanuts fully fatted, not partially defatted.
Where's that?
I just like, by the way,
the second to last ingredient in a Reese's
Oreo is chocolate.
And it's covered in that.
Artificial flavors the number four.
Why is there flour in there?
Huh.
Look at that.
Oh, you'd be shocked.
A lot of stuff that's in something.
The rest of it all kind of checks out.
There's also a bioengineered food ingredient.
Oh, yeah, peanuts.
Or wheat.
I like.
So did you eat all those chocolate-covered almonds already
that John David brought back from Buckees?
Nope.
I ate one bag of them.
You don't want to look at the ingredient list on a Bucky's Bristier sandwich.
That's why that yellow piece of paper is so long.
What?
Yeah.
I don't really care.
I don't either.
Is it good?
The microwave is going to fry our minds anyway.
And we carry around a little torch in our pocket and put it up to our head all day long.
I grew up under power lines.
There you go.
And you're moving.
there. You can't tell. You're getting even closer to them.
Nobody could tell.
Do you...
If you get in my parents' pool,
it's just the right way and you keep
one foot grounded and you have a cut on the other
foot, it will shock you.
Really? That's awesome.
True story.
I don't want to... Power lines.
Yeah. If you ever have like a cut on your hand,
just go put it in the water and put your other hand
on the ground next to the pool and it'll give you
a little jolt.
That's where I grew up. It might be what's wrong with me.
He grew up, man.
Didn't mess with your fertility.
He grew up with playing with electricity.
That's better than pissing on an electric fan.
I'm sitting there and playing with a wall socket.
Spark plug.
I've done that too.
That was a bad call.
Up being on a spark plug.
I've never peed on a spark plug.
That's just Mr. Glasscop.
It only takes one time.
That's what Philip said his name was.
I just thought it was interesting.
I'll tell you that.
I asked him if that was his given name
or a nickname.
Wow, what a life, man.
What are you guys
want to talk about?
What a time to be alive?
What just happened?
Y'all just went to your,
both of these.
Everybody just went to your phone.
We got an alert.
Everybody just went dead.
We got an alert on our phones over here.
Alerts?
Hey, what kind of alert?
Something secret about Hunter.
Oh, something stupid about Hunter?
Something secret.
Oh, something's going to
to.
uh,
Raleigh, North Carolina
next week.
The woman is loped.
Oh, tomorrow.
You eloped?
No, I'm not a loped.
Why did you say the man eloped?
Well,
I thought,
I thought that was the secret.
Are y'all getting married before you
they run off back here?
No.
And they run off and got mad with.
My,
my grandmother gave me great advice on that.
What's you say?
I have heard of it.
Why about a cow when you get to move for free?
Hey,
I had heard that she was moving down here, right?
Yes, sir.
Has she moved down here yet?
We're moving her down here this weekend.
Oh, this weekend.
Okay.
Trouble is fixed to happen, boys.
Trouble.
Why is trouble afoot?
Because they're together.
Oh, you think now that they're going to be in the same town, it could be trouble.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
The long-distance love affair is over.
This is getting up close and personal now.
it's going to be harder sigh
well I was asking
well what a rain cloud on this day
good grief man
not in a rain cloud it's a love cloud
a love cloud
I was asking a bunch of people
advice on marriage
oh you've got the right guy
so
I didn't know if I wanted to just
go ahead and get married
whenever she moves here or not
you do
This is someone
And got serious and got serious in a heart
This is someone
Do you all want to talk about this?
Let's talk about it
Also, hold on
You just said it got serious in a hurry
They've been dating for like over a year
Yeah
Yeah, but hey
Now they're talking about how I doing it
I get married
Okay
Well it's serious
Okay
The fun is yeah
Fun is over
We're getting down business now buddy
About hard part
The fund's over now work begins
Paperwork got involved Hunter
It's going to suck from here on out
The old ball and chain
It'd be a real turning point for you
Paperwork don't mean nothing
Paperwork don't mean nothing
No it don't mean nothing
Oh contraire
It means a lot
No it don't
No before paperwork you can just
Say you'll see you later
And you never have to speak to them again
No that ain't true
100%
After paperwork you give them
After paperwork you give them
roughly 51% of your stuff to leave.
Yeah.
That's the only thing about your paperwork.
That's pretty big thing.
So I got a question.
Okay.
Yeah.
I want to know if Hunter asked her dad.
Have you talked to her dad yet?
Her dad is past.
Okay.
So no.
Did you talk to him?
Okay.
Nope.
He didn't.
No, you know, like, I don't know if y'all asked your wife's dad for permission.
So did you ask?
No, I told him.
I said, I'm taking your daughter.
You said that?
And I said, you ain't got nothing saying it.
Did you?
Yeah.
Was he a big man?
No.
I don't think I technically asked.
I just let him know it was about to go down.
You did?
What about what?
I knew they were for it.
Yeah.
It wasn't like a...
Willie.
Well, yeah.
I wish I had Willie here right now.
Oh, yeah, it was bad on him.
To be fair.
Johnny didn't want that to happen.
No, no, no.
I wish I had Willie here on this one here.
Most people were on Johnny's side at the time.
We didn't actually see the vision.
What about you?
Yeah.
But I asked dad and mom because her parents are divorced.
So I told to both of them.
Anyway, Hunter.
I mean, like the right thing to do.
Yeah, I think, I mean, you know, you got to go make a, you know.
You got to do that.
It's part of it.
Yeah.
Part of the gig.
Hunter doesn't have to.
Hey, who's the father figure in her life, though, like grandfather or something?
She was raised by mainly women, so I don't think she has any.
Put them all in a group text and ask them.
Right now.
I wanted to ask her mom.
Uh-huh.
You should.
Just not right now.
Okay.
So, like, the advice.
So, mom, if you're listening,
be prepared for a phone call.
So I asked my grandmother advice.
Oh, actually, I asked both my grandparents,
and my grandmother gave me great advice.
You asked me and Martin for advice, too.
Yeah.
I, wait.
We didn't give you good at him.
My dad's mom.
The one from Pennsylvania?
No, I don't have a grandmother from Pennsylvania.
Oh.
Oh.
My grandfather.
Oh, God.
My grandfather lives in Pennsylvania and he was divorced.
My mom's mom just passed away like a few months ago.
Yeah, I knew that one.
I knew that.
Okay.
Okay.
So I thought there was still more.
I thought, okay, we're good.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right.
Trying to math.
You Joneses are all right.
Yeah.
And I was born early, so everyone's still alive.
Oh, I thought you meant like premature because that's only like six or seven weeks.
My dad started early.
Were they married?
No, but I went to their wedding.
that's good
on the outside
were you the flower boy
no I think I was the crying one
God some things never change
I love it
I love humans
how old are you on
I'm 25 I'll be 26
he's at a returning
25 how old is you want
also 25
yeah we're two months apart
I like it
Okay, so what was the advice, grandma?
So.
Okay, we're never going to get to this advice.
Hey, you headed out of town, hey?
Head it out of town, but you know what's coming with me?
What?
Quick little healthy habits like AG1 Pro and a little travel pack.
There you go.
The new AG1 Pro is back.
You've never heard an ad for AG1 Pro because it's so good it sold out that fast.
Last month, it sold out in 24 hours, so don't wait to try this.
AG1 Pro got a little creatine in it.
Watch this.
Boom, that's called a bicep.
I didn't used to have those.
Couldn't do a push-up and was overweight, but I got on some creatine,
started some healthy habits, which included AG1 Pro.
And now I can go run a mile.
I can bench press a lot of weight.
I'm living my best life, y'all.
And AG1 Pro is part of that because it is a daily health drink
with over 80 vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and whole food ingredients.
And now the AG1 you know and loves comes with creatine and extra nutrients
that support muscle recovery and advanced gut health in their AG1 Pro formula.
Low energy and feeling rundown is a thing of the past with AG1 pros all in one solution.
All you need is one scoop, one handy travel pack and 10 to 12 ounces of cold water.
And that's it.
I love the pro because I've been taking creatine and AG1 now.
Boom, right there in one drink that I like every morning.
It's that simple.
Visit drinkag1.com slash duck.
And you're going to get a free AG1.
pro Yeti Shaker and your AG1 pro welcome kit.
That's drinkag1.com slash.
So I was asking questions about marriage,
but I was worried it was still a little bit early
because we've been dating long distance.
And she said that makes a lot of sense.
Since you've been dating long distance,
you've only got to spend time with each other one week to a couple days
every three to four months for a year.
You can last forever like that, by the way.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But if she's moving down here, that gives us a chance to, like, be to date in person longer term.
And then I will.
Have the bad days together, if you will.
Exactly.
So I will get to know her on a different level.
And at that point.
You know the bad part of that.
She gets to know you on a different level, too.
Oh, you got quarks, buddy.
I'm great.
Quarks and all.
you're talking about a guy that did exactly what you're doing so really oh yeah brittany was from
nashville so we were long distance for a little while this you moved out here
that first little bit's tough hey buddy buckle your seatbelts all i got to tell you that's what
everyone keeps telling me yeah that's fine though you figure it out then you look up your
11 years in two kids in like everything's good man what are you going to name your kids hunter
we just really press fast forward there
she wants to name
the firstborn Avery
hold on
if y'all have talked about baby names
yeah it's time
it's time yeah
what you're gonna do
hold off for which what are we waiting on
get started son
yeah
I mean
I don't really have a good answer for that
now sign that paper though
oh yeah sign a paper
you don't want to take your kids to your wedding
that's right
given to understand that's a little awkward.
You know, the best advice, the best advice comes from some unusual places.
And when my middle son, Blake, started Dayton, he went to sigh for a relationship advice.
He went to sigh.
You remember that, sigh when Blake was asking you about dating.
I remember what I told him to.
Oh, boy.
I said, hey, you're at the age now that you're going in the bars, drinking a few beers.
I said, let me give you some good sound advice.
When you first walk in the bar, I said, what you do is you stop after you knock the saloon doors open and you read the room.
Got to find the ugliest one.
By that, I said, you picked the ugliest thing in there.
I wonder how many of theirs barometer I was.
Well, here's the thing.
It don't make any difference because, hey, the Almighty has got one for everybody.
Yeah, he does.
Already picked out.
That is true.
I really believe that.
Okay.
I really do.
But you really don't have nothing said by it.
One's already picked out for you.
And the best part is
is how you're going to meet
and how it all comes together.
That's a love story.
No, no.
Well, it's just, it's amazing.
Okay, really is.
Y'all going to get married in Madison Square Garden?
What?
How stupid was that?
Bing, Bing, Bing.
I don't think he's got the money to rent it.
Huh?
He ain't got T. Swift money?
Oh, I love it.
Do you think he'd be here if he had T. Swift money?
I just hope he'd draft.
Well, you got it in somewhere that you need to discuss.
What?
is it Taylor Kelsey or Travis Swift?
How much money are you going to be stupid enough to spend on this?
Oh, that's a good question.
Yeah, what kind of wedding y'all are?
I'm serious.
Shotgun, baby.
I don't know.
I've been playing that far as that.
I just want side to perform it.
Well, no, no.
Would you like us to get ordained and we can do it right here?
Cameras and all.
She would kill me.
We could bring a preacher here.
You're a preacher.
No, I ain't.
I can't marry people legitimately.
I could do it fakely.
Fakly.
It could be fun too.
I think you should have sigh write your vows.
And you can't change any word in it.
But yeah, you don't get to see them until the day and you just open them up and start reading.
That's right.
Hey, you good looking heifer.
You heifer.
Back to the money.
though.
Back to the money.
Back to the money.
Where's the money?
It's all about the money, boys.
Oh, hey.
I'm in Germany.
I got a good friend that works with it.
With the money?
Okay.
Look, and he's, he's a chance 12, so he makes very good money.
Probably about, what, $150,000, I think?
$150,000 a year?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
In 1962.
Oh, yeah.
Whoa.
Yeah.
Yeah, he was making good money.
Rolling, rolling, rolling.
Yeah.
So, hey, his daughter, for all his love, she says.
Okay, and he asked her, he said, well, you know, here's what I'll do for you.
I will give you and your young man $100,000.
Ooh.
Or I will pay for the wedding that you want.
Some of the money, Jerry.
Yeah.
So people ask me what were you doing?
Give me the cash.
Yeah, that's what I do.
Give me the cash.
I said, give me the cash.
If it's going to be cash, I'll take 80.
But anyway,
get a little break.
Oh, look, we go the way and oh, it is fabulous, okay?
Brought worse everywhere, huh?
Yeah, oh, I know.
You can tell the boy has spent some serious money as this joint.
Mm-hmm.
Okay, like about 150 grand.
No, because everything was super.
You know, it was.
It was really good.
Super.
You know how long the marriage lasts it?
How long?
Six months.
Yeah, you know what?
That's sad, but it's true.
No, no.
It happens a lot.
It lasts six months, and then it's over,
and he spent $150,000 on that stupid excursion.
Yeah.
Excursion?
Way on a cruise?
Oh.
Are the weddings?
an excursion? Well, yeah, it is.
I need to figure out how many Christmas
trees my in-laws bought for our wedding.
You don't want it cost me for my wedding?
Y'all had Christmas tree.
Like Corey's wedding?
I think I gave you a preaching $20.
You $20?
Yeah. I think my wedding cost me.
And a cigar band.
And a cigar band.
Christine said something silly about a $16
ring, but I'd never heard of that
or never seen it.
That was your first life.
Tell yourself a story so many times you actually start believing it.
Oh, no, hey.
Hey, that's my story.
They wrote a song, but that's my story.
And I'm saying it to it, boys.
Yeah.
Hunter, have we helped you?
Hunter, when I got married.
When I got married, Hunter, they put like 30 Christmas trees in the church because we got married in December.
And I bet that was expensive.
And I would like to have that money instead of those Christmas trees because we don't even have those Christmas trees anymore.
Do you sink them as a brush top somewhere?
I think they gave them all out at church the next Sunday.
Oh, that's nice.
That was good.
30 families that didn't have to get a Christmas tree.
That's not.
Oh, yeah.
We had Christmas trees all over the Christmas.
How old were you?
Oh, way younger than Hunter.
Yeah.
I was 21.
Oh, so you were in the 20s.
By the time I was Hunter's age, I had a couple kids.
I could not imagine getting married or having kids a 21st.
You know, man, by the time you had kids.
Yeah, how old are you?
25.
I turned 20s.
26 in like two weeks.
I had Carter.
Yeah.
Get after it, son.
I had Carter at 25.
Ride, Clyde, ride.
What?
That would have just been tough for me.
I'm glad people can do it.
It was easy for me.
Bown.
Duck Dynasty banjo noise.
Oh.
Bam, boom, bam, bam, bam, bam, boom.
At 25, I should have done I take care of myself.
So what advice do you seek, Hunter?
get married now or later
I mean I think you know what I think
yeah we've already told you
in a group text you can read all that to the people
if you want to no no no no no no
in the words of Phil Robertson
head up to the justice of the peace
and make it happen
yep I'm just glad his woman
listened to Phil
found him a homely one
found her a homely one
found her a homely
oh he called a joke Hunter
he's calling you homely
yeah I got that
that is the greatest
scene of all time. I went and found
that and ripped it and I got it on my phone just to
send to people now. Find your old
homely one. It is
good advice.
Nobody in this room took it.
Like her mom's good cook.
I know, she ain't homely.
Well, it's hard to find
that, but I pulled it off.
Phil would be proud of me.
See, the first prerequisite for
a man or woman in my opinion.
Can she
cook? You're going to be there?
for 50 years and you don't even know whether she can cook or not?
What kind of thinking is that?
Well, we'll just live off love.
Not really.
You'll starve to death.
She doesn't have to be a pretty girl.
Just because she looks a little homely.
That's all right.
Hard to get a pretty one.
Hard to get a pretty one.
To cook and carry a Bible anymore.
Good grief.
That right there should have...
Hey, he did have some good little...
That should have told the whole world
that Duck Dynasty.
is here and it is going to be a big freaking deal because that's unbelievable.
Oh, my God.
Not really.
You'll starve.
He did have some good little phrases.
She ain't got to be pretty.
Find you homely.
So what if she looks a little homely?
She's hard to find her pretty when it carries a Bible and cook anymore.
Oh.

So Olivia can cook.
Oh, yeah, she's amazing.
She made me like banana bread the last time she was in.
I was.
Banana bread's always a solid.
Like I knew I was going to marry her.
And now I'm like, now I know.
Hey, it made me a big.
Banana bread.
He said, I'm here.
Yeah.
Hey, Phil Robertson approved.
Can she?
cook.
Not really.
We've worked with a thing else out.
That reminds me the last time Phil gave me
relationship advice.
Bill Robertson?
Yeah.
What do he tell us?
It was about an ex-girlfriend.
He was like, you still date in your woman?
I was like, yes, sir, I am.
He's like, better get married.
That was it.
Yep.
Better get married.
Better get married.
That was all the advice I got.
He did his thumbs up as well.
Better get married, Jones.
See?
That's what I'm with Phil.
19?
Hey, you're an adult.
Do it.
You'll figure it out or you won't.
He ever tell you to keep that thing in your pocket?
I know for a fact he did.
I can't remember when.
I think he told everybody that.
Keep that thing in your pockets.
You won't have nothing to worry about.
Best advice I ever got.
I'm like, how do you get it to your...
True words never spoken.
I'm like, how do you get it to your pocket?
Oh my goodness
You need a pocket now?
Hey,
Hey, keep it in your pockets
You won't have nothing to worry about
Hey, you'll put it in your pocket
Hey, cut your hole in the pockets
Yeah
Well, since we're on this topic
What advice did you all get
From who?
Anyone, I guess, like before marriage.
Oh.
Ooh.
I was a cocky young thing
And so I didn't really take anybody's advice
I had it all figured out
That led to trouble
we did some premarital counseling with Alan Lisa 10 out of 10 recommend if you
yeah we didn't need that because I had it all figured out 10 out of 10 don't recommend
that well we did premarital counseling with Kellett and his wife Susan and they were
very good and it's served us well for 35 years oh hey did you do premarital
counseling give us some of the stuff though I don't know the man no no no are you kidding
I was a player so I didn't need I knew all of it okay that's why y'all sit together
me and philip both went to counseling there's a reason we're together there's a reason we're together
there's a reason we all work well to me and alison did our marriage testimony one time at a at a church
thing and we're up there talking and i said and you know before we got married we didn't do
premarital counseling because i already had all the answers figured out and if alison didn't she could
just ask me clearly a joke about a bad thing
bad decision a 19 year old kid made.
They didn't get it.
They were like, ugh. They didn't get the joke.
Look at this guy. I was like, I now know better.
Nobody laughed. It was weird.
No, I want to know some of the stuff that y'all, that what you're, uh, counselors,
y'all. Oh, okay.
Buddy, you've been married for 60 years. I'll tell you some of those.
So what we've learned that I feel like has worked over all these years is we don't
never say anything that scars each other. We don't even, we bring, we don't bring, we don't bring up
the past to scar each other with our words.
And if you do that, then you have to communicate.
And I feel like that's a really important thing in America.
One of the best ones I ever heard was,
is, okay, I've got two individuals sitting here.
Big bag you got behind you.
Throw that in the ocean.
Like they're dragging their past behind them.
The luggage.
You got a bunch of junk.
You got a bunch of junk that you got with you.
Mm-hmm.
that you need to get rid of.
And that goes for both of you.
Yeah.
You both got excess baggage just you don't need to get rid of it.
Mm-hmm.
There you go.
Yeah.
And the other thing I would say is, you know,
your relationship with Christ is so important together and also separately.
If you're doing right and doing things you're supposed to be doing,
and so is your wife trying to do better.
Y'all are going to both grow toward the same direction.
Well, and that's powerful.
If you read it read in the Bible enough,
God will tell you how to treat each other.
That's a lot of stuff that we covered in.
Very, very sound doctrine.
Yeah, you can't go wrong with that.
Because if you do do that, you won't have many problems.
You know what?
We laugh a lot, which is really important, Hunter.
We laugh a lot.
A lot of me most of the time because she's cracking jokes on me.
Well, she's the funniest person I ever met, so.
Yes, she is funny.
Who?
Olivia.
Oh, no, I thought you're Alicia.
My wife, I was like, yeah, she is.
No, she's not a funniest to my girlfriend.
There you go.
She's that funny?
Olivia, yeah.
That's great.
And you've never said, hey, I, we've had professional comedians in here, and your girlfriend's
funnier than them?
Yes.
And you never thought, like, hey, maybe we should bring her on the pod because she's hysterical.
She'll come with me next week.
She didn't sit right there.
Yeah, she's too scared for that.
she's the funniest person you've ever met yeah we'll turn the canvas off john chris right now i will i
would tell that to his face well we're going next week with respect next week we're going to bring you
and we're going to counsel you and her marriage counsel on the pod live i don't know about that one man
she might she might be a little too scared oh yeah live podcast yeah we should never do anything no editing
no we're definitely not we're gonna have run it as he's as he's as he's
No, kids watch this.
You say crazy things.
Also, I love you, John Chris.
It will be a good start for these two young people.
I do too.
It really will be.
She's that funny?
She's hilarious, man.
Oh, boy.
That's funny.
You're big on humor in a relationship, you know?
It's an important thing.
I don't know, because if you ask my wife,
what's the best part of being with me.
Yep, I know what she's going to say.
The teeth.
It's that, hey, I've learned.
for 55 years over the whole thing.
I thought recently.
Yeah, and Christine don't mind.
She loves hearing your stories because she laughs every time you tell one.
But Martin.
No, no, because what it is, when she first saw me, okay,
she made a assumption of what kind of person I was,
and then when she actually got to spend a little time with me,
she found out that I'm fun to be able to rip with.
and there will be a lot of left.
Funest person I know wearing polka dot socks today.
I thought you kind of gave off that vibe pretty immediate.
Did you used to be crusty?
Well, she said I was actually, uh...
Lame?
Well, no.
Lame.
Kind of hard to get going, so to speak.
Like, um...
I'm shy.
Inverted.
I had a lot of my friends in high school.
school say that about me. Yeah, I believe that because
when we go places, side does, he
likes to check it out before he starts
opening up and talking to everybody, you know.
It takes him a little while. I know what it gets
me is when we went to, uh,
the guy that was just here. Oh, oh,
yeah, idols aside, we went to Florida.
No, other place.
Kentucky. Kentucky. Yeah.
Okay. Yeah, there was a young lady,
you know, just come up, sit down and started telling me
her whole life. He said, well, I'm
living with a guy and all this, you know.
and I said, darling, you need to marry him.
That sounds like Phil.
No, because I did.
I said, hey, look, because she was asking for advice.
She said, what I don't need to do?
And I said, well, the first thing you do I said, hey,
quit living with a guy until he puts a ring on that finger.
You're listening, Hunter?
And I said, because, hey, there's one person you want to be right with.
And I said, that'd be the man upstairs.
Yeah
It's his way
And he'll bless you
It's your way
You're gonna
You're gonna have a lot of problems
Yeah
That's right
So hey
Y'all actually
You said both of you
You said you love each other
Right
Then put a ring on
That's exactly right
Because look hey
That don't change nothing
What
Makes it legal
With him
Yep
That's right
That's the important part
I said
All you do
The paperwork in it, I said, you know, here it matters, but I mean, paperwork won't keep you together.
That's true.
And now I'm curious to know if the premarital counseling helped Martin and Brittany.
Would you say it did?
Not as much as the counseling after a year.
We went back to marriage counseling.
Yeah, a little over a year into it.
Well, then you have something.
Now you know.
We had a baseline.
And we understood.
Hey, you've had a year of foundation to come back when they say something.
I know, I know what you're talking about.
Oh, yeah.
Hey, I strongly encourage marriage counseling, by the way.
Just for a little quick tune-up from time to time.
I do, too.
Like, oh, tune up.
Yeah.
Oh, cause, hey, here's the, here's the bottom line.
Nobody is ready for what you're fixing to do.
I've said it.
And you don't have no ideal.
Who things we all suck at.
Yeah.
Marriage and parenthood.
you've never been either.
And you don't know what you do.
You don't.
And hey, it's okay.
Yeah, that's fine.
Yeah.
But go to somebody who does.
Yeah.
Go ask questions.
Yeah, go get some tips and tidbits.
When Duck Dynasty was going on, we were running Duck Commander just by the seat of our

That's Q-U-O-com slash.
So, Hunter, I'm going to say laugh a lot, flirt a lot, go on dates a lot, no matter how long, when you get married, as long as you're married, keep having fun, you know, do things together.
And never go to bed.
That's right.
And that's a hard one, too.
I'm serious.
I'll sleep on a couch a lot in my life.
Never.
I never went to the bed, though.
Godwin gave that advice, and I do listen to a lot of the advice that y'all give in here, and it has helped me throughout this.
So thanks.
I told all these guys.
I said, I used to thank you a bunch of dummies.
You all got to answer all those questions.
These people sent in about relationship.
And I says, I wish I had a good, y'all have got some sound advice giving people.
Can I ask a quick question about premarital counseling?
I've only recently heard of people doing that.
Why do you do that?
Because you don't know what you're about to get into.
But isn't that kind of like...
Oh, well, let me tell you what Jay's told me.
This is a good one.
And I think Jay's told everybody this that I'm aware of.
He said within 90 days after y'all get married,
you're going to come home.
And she's going to be crying.
And there's nothing you can do about it.
There's no reason.
There's no.
nothing. He said, so what you do? You turn around and you leave.
Turn around and leave, he said. He said, you go over there, you hug them, and you leave.
He said, and you come back about an hour or two later. He said, and everything will be fine.
He said, I think it's just the reality has set in that I'm stuck here.
I'm stuck with you? Yeah. And I be dead guvog about day 70, it happened. I was like,
What'd you do?
I left.
I went, I said, I love you, I left.
I turned around and walked out.
Honor, I'm 11 years in, so just saying.
Just leave?
Well, no, no.
Well, he's like, sticking around is only going to make it worse
because you cannot fix it in that moment.
Can I raise my hand?
Turn around and leap.
I didn't cry.
The woman.
Oh, you were the, no, it must be the woman.
It wasn't me.
Christine turned around and a while left.
It was crying.
It was me.
I was me.
because finally it finally hit me.
I said,
I can't really believe I did this.
What day was it?
Do you remember?
Was it within 90 days?
It was probably, oh, I don't know,
it was a few days.
Is this joining the military or getting married?
No, no, getting married.
Okay, because I've always been, you'll laugh about you.
You know who I called and talked to about getting married?
Not Phil.
your mama.
Yo mama.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
You're a mama's boy.
Yeah, you're a mama's boy.
Yeah.
I called and, you know, and I actually told Christine.
I said, Ma?
No.
Because I said, you, guess who I talked to?
She said, what are you talking about?
I said, I had to call somebody to talk about this.
She said, I had no idea.
And I said, Mama.
She said, well, you told me you as a mama boy.
I said, and I'm proud of it.
Yeah.
There you go.
Because I had all kinds of questions like, how did you know dad was the one?
Also, Hunter, some people go back to answer your question.
Some preachers won't marry you until you complete premarital counseling.
And you can get that through a lot of churches.
But there's others too.
But I like going through the church because it was good biblical principles.
You know, and that's going to stick with you for a long time.
This is a completely new concept to me.
I like this.
As someone who skipped it.
I like this.
Chase gave him.
How about, hey, you're going to come in one night.
She's going to see sitting there crying.
It was within the first 90 days.
And Jace didn't tell me that, so I was like, what's wrong?
I can fix this.
Yeah, I can fix it.
Only made it worse.
I've got some advice that Phil gave a friend of mine.
He said, if your woman cooks bad food, leave her.
Don't, no, no.
He said, don't eat it.
He said, you immediately take it out and throw it in the trash.
Oh, that is true.
Right in front of her.
Right.
Right.
Yes. And he did.
And buddy, I'm telling you, they had to go to counseling after that.
Because he pulled the roast up, you know, and they cut it up and he took one bite out.
He said, nope.
Walked outside, threw it away.
See.
The dogs, the dogs went out there and turned their nose up.
Hey.
Now, I would say.
I wouldn't do that.
How do you make a bad roast?
The concept of that is true.
It happened.
You have to be open and honest in marriage and say, babe.
I appreciate the effort.
This ain't no good.
I ain't eating it.
Yeah, it ain't your best.
Otherwise, you're going to eat that every Tuesday for the next 50 years.
That's the thing.
If you eat bad food and tell her it's good,
you're going to eat bad food.
That's what you're going to eat a bad bunch of bad food.
But I don't tell her unless she asks.
But I would say it in a way that's loving kind.
But I'm a big feller, so it's pretty obvious if I don't like something.
Yep.
What, you don't like it?
Hmm.
Yeah, there we go.
Why ain't you eating?
I just, I'm not hungry.
Where's that bag of dog?
Hmm.
Well, hey.
You got Domino's no app.
We can get to watch you.
Here's the best of the time I can give you.
Don't try to change your woman.
Well, why would he?
She's the funniest.
No, no, no.
But hey, she's hilarious.
Is she witty?
Yes.
Most people get in trouble.
You're not.
You're not.
You're in trouble because, hey, once they get together.
It's a real turning point of the relationship.
But everybody's got little quirks to tell you how.
And don't change them.
I don't have quirks.
Yeah.
Everybody's got quirks, sir.
I don't.
Yeah, you do.
Yeah, you do, punk.
He's got the most.
We've talked about it.
We all got a touch of the tism.
I'm very quirky.
I'm a quirky person.
Everybody.
I'm less quirky than Hunter.
Hunter's laughing at that.
If that's our bar.
We've got different issues.
That's a good point.
Here's what y'all don't realize.
You know, you started to change somebody.
You'll end up getting divorced.
Yeah, that's true.
Or miserable.
It turns into being a nag.
Yeah.
You just keep on.
You just keep on.
You just keep on.
Nag, nag, nag, nag, nag.
Hey, you knew I was like this when we've been together too long.
Why in the world are you trying to change me?
Get off of it.
Yeah.
No?
Yep.
Yep.
Oh, Martin, you need a nap, son.
I'm tired, man.
He's talking, man.
I got a long few days here.
Who gave this?
What is it?
Russ.
Big Daddy.
Yeah, Big Russ.
Big Ruth?
The guy that was at the church.
What?
Huh?
No, Russ ain't ever been down here.
Side, what is it?
I don't know what it is.
This is mustard, and he's got me some Brockworths coming.
That's what I'm talking.
He ordered him some pure German.
German.
Germany.
Yermany.
Well, I had my daughter off the German store,
but that wasn't the quality I was looking for.
I believe these are coming from Yermin.
Well, that may be.
Well, I'll know as soon as I'll put them on my rotary.
My rotary.
Brought's rolling.
What a winding episode.
And in the middle of it, we gave you Phil Robertson's,
I'm going to say, second greatest advice of all time.
Can she cook?
And what are you going to live on love?
Not really, you'll start.
You may be a little home.
And I found this video, and I hope this works.
And I'm just going to play Phil Robertson for the last, for the Bible verse today.
Ever since I've been 28, I stood on these verses that I would not budge.
1 Corinthians 15.
Brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preach to you, which you received,
on which you've taken your stand.
By this gospel, you're saved.
if you hold firmly to the word I preach to you, otherwise you believed in vain.
The Apostle Paul wrote this, for what I received, I passed on to you, and I hope everyone is listening to this.
This is the most important thing there is, first important, that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures,
that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures, and appeared to these various people.
I stood on that from the time I was converted and I'm still standing on it.
I'm humbled by how many that I walked marched down there and walked out there
in the edge of the river that I fished on and duck hunt on and I baptize them and they come up.
It's one of the coolest things I've ever been a part of.
It's preaching out to my neighbor.
I love them all.
Whether they hate me or not, that's fine.
And we just continued to preach the gospel.
Wow.
So I'm going to end with that one today.
You know what's cool?
I didn't even realize it.
He was sitting right here.
Oh, was it really?
I just, I got chills in the middle of that because I played it and I saw it.
But look at where he's sitting.
First Corinthians 15.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, he is sitting right.
Stand up the sign.
Yeah.
Here.
That's the best advice he ever gave right there, boys.
There you go. First Corinthians 15-1-3-4.
I know that one.
Yep.
All right.
We'll see y'all next time.
We're out.
