Starting point is 00:00:01 Welcome back to the Duck Call Room, ladies and gentlemen. We do have a special edition today. For those of you on YouTube, you can already see. We have a guest in here. Mr. Kirk Cameron is here. This is, I say a guess, but how long have you been hunting down here with us, Kurt? I think it's been eight years, maybe, something like that. Yeah, eight or ten years.
Starting point is 00:00:26 So it feels just like it's weird because it's not December to see. But it's also like, yeah, Kurt's back, y'all. I've been trying to get him here for Alligator season. for a while. There you go. I've got a problem. I've got a problem. I don't like, I don't like the idea of being eaten by an alligator. I know I got to go out some way, but that's just not how I want to do it. That ain't on your list. That's not on my list. And I saw the pictures of the gators in your swamp, and they're 14 feet long. Oh yeah. Yeah, but the boat's 16 foot, so you good. Well, you got two extra foot of boat. You ain't even got to worry about that. And the only protection you say I have as we're
Starting point is 00:01:02 walking through this water. And I'm, I don't know if I'm stepping on a log or the back of a gator is that, oh, it's cold. It's cold. It's cold. So they're sleeping. They don't, they're not going to bite you. But you wouldn't step a toe in that water right now. Oh, they'll make you be like, Jesus, you're trying to walk on water. Okay, because look, I've done it.
Starting point is 00:01:24 In field or shooting duck in wintertime. It's cold. And I thought it was a log under the water. about 10 foot long. So look, we choose to mothers and one of them's spinning and feels says, hey, kill that couple. Well, about that time, the spinning goes under, okay, and disappears on the water. And then the log starts moving out. So, hey, we literally, me and him both try to walk on water and get to the bank.
Starting point is 00:01:56 There you go. You got to be ready. You got to be ready. And it was cold, play. And it was no. So he was still out. Well, there's always an exception once every few years.
Starting point is 00:02:10 Usually you don't get. Yeah. Well, what's why you just run up on one and he didn't go, he didn't go, you know, to sleep. You also got to.
Starting point is 00:02:17 He wasn't hibernated. You also got to consider the source of this story. All right. That was true, but it's, I'm not saying he's known for tall tales, but, you know,
Starting point is 00:02:29 he doesn't have a podcast. I do, I want to touch on some other. stuff like that it's kind of funny that people don't or may not know but I mean y'all probably don't even know this I do because I had to shaper on this you know Kurt was almost sort of kind of like family down here because Bella at one time was dating your nephew that's right young lev that's right so like I mean when you start seeing like the intertwining of it like it it feels like it was destiny for all of this it was I have this beard because of y'all see look at you know I
Starting point is 00:03:02 I mean, I didn't realize that the beard on all you duck hunters has everything to do with camouflage. And warmth. And warmth. In the winter time. So there's practical reasons for the beard. Amen. Well, and you didn't know that until you started hanging around. That's right.
Starting point is 00:03:18 You just grew all your hair back here. I got a question like back in the day. Was that a perm? No, it wasn't a perm. Just natural. That was just natural. That's just God-given. Because I mean, you know, you're tired of seeing that.
Starting point is 00:03:30 Thanks for pulling that picture up. Like, you're tired of. I had the mullet. See, that's right. And I had a good one too. How does it feel to have lived long enough to see your hairstyle come back? See, but what I have, but the party in the back that I'm sporting right there, you just sporting it on your chin.
Starting point is 00:03:46 Yeah. That's all you're doing right now. You've got a mullet on your face. Essentially is what that is. You call it a mullet. I call it like a bib, like, because I'm a sloppy eater. So it really keeps my shirts. He's got a mullet on your face.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Mullet on your face. But I mean, like, you're not real far from like Patrick Mahomes right there. Patrick Mahomes isn't like real far from me. Hey, that's what I'm. I mean, I'll do look like there. Go, jeeps. See, that's what I'm saying. Chiefs.
Starting point is 00:04:14 I miss the days where portraits had those backgrounds. Like, school portraits, like, you know, like, you know, like, from. What is that? No, no, he didn't go to school. Are you kidding? That was some, that was some growing pains. Yeah. I mean, that was back in the gap.
Starting point is 00:04:30 So I was probably like two in the. You know what I see when I look at that is I see my son James. Yeah. It just I can see that he's a little bit better looking though because he's got some of his mother in him. Yeah. So he's he's he's he's a handsome guy. I don't know now at one point like the whole free world kind of wanted juice. That's kind of cool. Then they switched to size. What does that tell you about to say? What does that tell you about the change we've seen in society right? No, hey all that is is hey that's proof that God the father, son and Holy Spirit are alive and well. Amen, buddy. I'm living proof.
Starting point is 00:05:04 Amen, buddy. Okay, because I, hey, yeah. But I have curious, like growing, and I know you've probably answered the ad nauseum, but you're in a different spot in life. Like you said, your perspective, Shane's, like you were on a huge, I mean, it was huge for the time frame, growing pains. And then your sister was obviously on another big one. Like, how was that shaping you as a child? I mean, like, you see all that today and you hear all the. and it means even being exposed about what goes on out there in Hollywood. I guess was that prevalent then?
Starting point is 00:05:38 Or were you just blissfully unaware as a child? Like, because you're, you know, you're mid-teens or whatever. So like, if you just ignorance as bliss kind of a deal, you don't even realize it? Or like, were you aware of the evil that surrounds that, you know, that kind of deal? Just curious. That's a good question. And when all of these documentaries started coming out, exposing the darkness behind the curtain in the shadows of children's television shows with pedophiles and all of this wickedness,
Starting point is 00:06:06 it did make me ask the question, well, was that around? And I think we sensed it. There were creepy vibes from people. And then when you watch the film, one of the main perpetrators who spent prison time for being inappropriate with children was actually my stand-in on growing pain. So I look back now and I say, thank God, I was not a victim. I was protected. But there were many parties that I never felt comfortable going to because I knew something weird was going on. But who wants to accuse somebody of that kind of wickedness? So I think the seeds were planted a long time ago and weeds were allowed to grow in the Hollywood industry, the music industry, everywhere. And in public schools, 50 years ago, 100 years ago, when we started taking God in the scriptures out of education.
Starting point is 00:06:56 And when you do that, you create a vacuum. and then evil will rush in to be your God. I would just fix that. And then you turned out, guess who comes in? But even in that time, I mean, you've spoken about it on other things, even before we got started, you were an atheist. But even you were able to recognize that as an atheist. Like, I mean, looking back on it, you know,
Starting point is 00:07:20 because atheist is, what, no recognition of. Well, they've enjoyed being able to update their definition. You should say someone who doesn't believe in God, but they say no, that we're an atheist. We're an atheist, meaning I don't have a belief in a God. There you go. So, but that's really more of an agnostic position. Unless you come up with a strong atheist who says God does not exist. But then he's got to prove his claim and they don't want to do that because he can't.
Starting point is 00:07:47 No, no, because he can't. Because he can't. That's right. Because most people that have set out to prove there ain't a God were converted and they're one that believes it. That's right. Here's one right here. That's right.
Starting point is 00:07:59 You know, and I know what question asked you. You mentioned the young lady swimming. Swimming. Oh, yes, Riley Gaines. Okay. And I, and then a man entered the swimming arena as a woman. That's unfair. And it ain't right.
Starting point is 00:08:17 That's right. That's right. Okay. He's got more muscles than any woman. Okay, because he's a male. Yeah. But she has more balls than most men in the church. That's right.
Starting point is 00:08:30 Because she's courageous. She's got bravery and she spoke truth in the marketplace when the coaches wouldn't, when the judges wouldn't. And the other players and the other, you know, the other, even those in the most those in the sports world, they are so afraid to go against the cultural narrative because they don't want to be whacked for it. She stood up and now she has an entire center that is defending women's sports. and we as men can take a lesson from this woman who is brave, and that's why I put her in my book. And that's, but it's love. You know, it's loving to be standing up for women. She wasn't trying to be loving to stand up for my daughter.
Starting point is 00:09:13 That's right. I don't want my daughter to be competing in an unfair advance. That's right. And so it is not, extreme love. This is not being a badass just to be able to throw your weight around. This is about treasuring what you have been called to protect. your family and the good ways that lead to human flourishing. If we don't protect that with courage, we will lose it.
Starting point is 00:09:36 Not only that, there's got to be truth. And there's no truth in that. All right, look, springtime is here. It's warming up. You know what that means? That means more outside cooking. And y'all know, we love to eat beef around here. And that's what because of our friends over at Triedale's beef makes such a good product.
Starting point is 00:10:00 ain't it good it's so good it's our friend sall robinson would say buy on the grill look before we got tritels getting ready for a cookout man somebody had to run the grocery store do all the things grab whatever was left in case you were late in the day and you never really know where that beef comes from but with tritels beef we skip the grocery store and do it a different way try tales comes from a family ranch out in texas they're a fifth generation american ranch so they've been at it for a while now look the beef comes straight from their ranch and other ranchers they work with who raise cattle the same way. Their steaks are properly aged and shipped straight from the ranch to your door.
Starting point is 00:10:38 We threw a couple of ribbys on the grill. Look, salt, pepper, garlic, hot fire, that's all you need. Look, because I tell you what, when the beef comes from people who raise cattle for a living, you can taste the difference. The tenderness and the flavor are fantastic. So if you're stocking the freezer for grilling season, go check out Tritale's beef. I know in size case Christine loves it, which is just a she doesn't eat meat. the big meat easier, folks.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Yeah. Just go to trybeef.com slash. That's trybeef.com slash support ranch families and eat some dang good steak. Well, back to our guess. Okay. Okay. We're getting right into it. He's got a new book out.
Starting point is 00:11:17 I've got about through a half of it. Okay. You need to read it. There you go. Okay. Our whole country needs to read it because, hey, look, it's about our founding fathers. and what this nation was built on. And it was built on, hey, God Almighty and guns.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Okay, so you need to read it. It's very interesting. And it hit me right where I'm having a little trouble right now with our political arena because the people who are not using the vote like they're supposed to, you're supposed to be making the best choice you can make about, okay, I'm going to vote for this man or this woman, whether it be, you know, a male or female, but you want to choose the best one that is qualified to run this nation. Okay.
Starting point is 00:12:19 And if he don't believe in the almighty, okay, it's not the right one. okay in my humble opinion okay because god's always been for this nation from the beginning and he's still behind us but he's kind of a little bit i would say he was a little bit peoed at us for not following him instead of going toward him we're going away from him and i'll stop preaching hey get the book it's born to be brave And all I'd say is, hey, yeah, I'm born to be brave because, hey, I believe in the man that raises dead people. That'd be Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 00:13:06 He's promised me that he'll do what he did for God, what God did for his son. Okay. So, yeah, I believe in him. Okay. And you should, too. If the story is true about him that he does raise dead men, well, you ain't got nothing to be afraid of. because guess what he rose from the dead and he's promised to do that for his followers
Starting point is 00:13:32 that's right and i'll stop i'll stop preaching to you unless you hear it from the man himself kirk kirk has that sum up your book here for him man i want to go buy my book you won't you won't sign to sign your book yes sir i will okay i'll endorse your book also okay it's worth reading lordy be okay Thank you. You're putting wind in my sales this morning. And the reason I wrote this book was, is, you know what changed my perspective on everything was going from a single man to a married man. Suddenly, I had more to be concerned about. I have a woman that I want to take care of. I want to build a life together. Then it ratcheted up times 10 when I had children. And now I'm a grandfather.
Starting point is 00:14:22 My baby girl just had a baby girl. And I am thinking about the world. that they're going to be living in. And I think, man, we're at a now or never moment in our country. We have got to turn our hearts back to God. We've got to stop being afraid of the opposition, thinking that they're too big, and remember who we are and whose we are, and remember the story that you just said.
Starting point is 00:14:45 If there is an Almighty who raises his son from the dead and promises to raise us from the dead, and fill us with his spirit, with his spirit so that he who is in me is greater than he who's in the world. And what am I crying and complaining about? Oh, no. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:03 I mean, come on. Who are we? We're the children of God. And our mission is not beat people into submission from the top down. It's to heal them into wholeness and goodness and truth and beauty from the inside out and from the bottom up. To hit that on that, I'll use the free. of the Holy Spirit.
Starting point is 00:15:27 Oh, okay. Brotherly left, self-control, peace, love, joy, all those things. And here's what I've got to ask the students, the pilgrims of this country. What would you want to have for your children, your grandchildren?
Starting point is 00:15:49 How about a little peace? How about a lot of joy? would you actually want that for your grandkids and your kids? I would. I would want more joy. I would want more peace. I would want more self-control. I want love, brotherly kindness, goodness, all the good stuff.
Starting point is 00:16:10 Well, folks, hey, you better look and thank and use your brain. What do you want for this nation? God Almighty wants one thing. If you read 2nd Corinthians chapter 1 verse 18 in Christ Jesus, all the answers are yes. Well, you would have to be a complete moron or idiot not to want in on that. Jesus is willing to give you first class in everything. Okay, if you are a disciple of his. I love it one feel comes out inside.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Oh, no, no, look, hey. Every time I'm here. Hey, look. How about, how about do you want your kid and grandchildren to have truth? Do you want them to have honesty? Do you want them to have what's good? Well, then, hey, you better put your man in gear and start voting, okay, and vote for the right people that you think are qualified to run this great.
Starting point is 00:17:22 nation of ours. It's still the greatest nation in this world. That's right. The United States of America, okay? And look, but we need to work on that united part. That's right. We need to work very delugee and hard on that, on that united part. Okay. And guess what? The father and the son and the Holy Spirit are a perfect example of unity. everything them three do they're one in y'all so hey look he gave you a brain and gave you this wonderful body i'm 76 years old for crying out loud and men this perfect body of mine has gone through some wonderful things together and guess where them wonderful things come from they come from the son the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Starting point is 00:18:23 Okay. And if you can't, you can't get with that, hey, your woods wet, boys. Every time I'm here. Every time I'm here, he starts to preach. I love it. I can't help. I can't interrupt. Look, hey, our great minds have theories and guesses about how everything you see where it came from.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Yeah. Well, hey, look. if you look into it honestly and truthfully okay hey it won't hold water that dog won't hunt
Starting point is 00:19:00 none of the theories or guesses that they've got will hold water for crying out loud it has to be a creator creator okay because it's too everything's too right everything's too perfect
Starting point is 00:19:18 okay it has there has to be a creator for all this beauty you see yeah come on guys did you see the beauty last night were you outside last night
Starting point is 00:19:32 no the northern lights no that's way too late for him oh yeah I was way in bed yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I saw some pictures I couldn't see where I was but yeah you can see it here you can see it here through your phone it was it was pretty
Starting point is 00:19:46 cool you think because like on our on our end and what we believe you think like man you can see that on earth yeah you know like all the colors and all the things that's just uh i do want to circle back to one thing i got to say one other thing oh here we go okay he said one thing in here about heavenizing the earth oh yeah okay guys it's true man you open all your presence well no no upstairs it is we are heavenizing this world ain't a reason to wrap no this earth God said what who was put in charge and what what was he given oh he was
Starting point is 00:20:27 given all authority right oh wait a minute who was given all authority that would be the son of God and the son of man they're one in the same the son of God and the son of man that's why look he knows us he's one of us because how he was born of a virgin woman a miraculous arrival
Starting point is 00:20:49 born of a woman, no sex involved. Okay. Guys, you're not going to ever hear a story that's going to top this. Nope. Nope. Not coming out of Hollywood, not coming out of Nashville. No lyrics, no script is ever going to top that. And Hollywood borrows it.
Starting point is 00:21:12 Born to be brave. It seems to be brave. We're talking about, hey, we believe in. the man, Jesus Christ, the one that rose from the dead. And then he bodily ascended back to the father. Why? Because he's sitting there with this idiot when he messes up. He says, Father, hey, remember the cross.
Starting point is 00:21:39 Put him on my towel. Guys, it's the greatest story ever. I find that there are many people who have this sense of hopelessness and despair when they look at the evil that's deteriorating American culture. It overcomes them. It overcomes them. They're just depressed about what's coming in the future. And then that leads many within the church to immediately go to end times in their mind. And they think, you know, Jesus must be coming by Thursday.
Starting point is 00:22:14 It's so bad. And therefore, there's no point in really even trying. Yeah. And I think that's a terrible way to think about things, and I can explain why in a moment. But I think that hopelessness is completely misplaced for the family of faith. Because as you said, Sai, we have a God who raises Jesus from the dead, and history tells us that there have been revivals and great awakenings during the darkest times of cultures far worse than what we're experiencing today. I mean, they're not throwing Christians into the mouths of lions in the United States of America right now. We don't find piles of ashes where Christians have been burned at the stake. But they'd done it before.
Starting point is 00:22:56 And they could do it again. Yeah. But there is something called the Holy Spirit working in the hearts of his people that can turn things around. And we could witness perhaps the greatest comeback culturally and spiritually in our lifetime. And when you were talking about that, I picked up your book and I haven't had a chance to really dig deep. But help me understand that. Because from what I understand, you're saying, hey, we have a responsibility. Because when you read the book, it's heaven talks about coming back here to Earth.
Starting point is 00:23:26 And so if we are good stewards right now, are we help ushering in heaven? Help me understand what you're saying in that chapter. Yeah. Great, great question. What if the current cultural setback is really a divine setup for a spiritual comeback, led by the family, of faith? What if all of this is being allowed to happen to usher in a wake-up call for the church to turn our heart back to God and to return the soul of this nation back to biblical principles? And I think a theologian named N.T. Wright, an Anglican bishop, said this, and it's at the
Starting point is 00:24:11 beginning of the chapter about heavenizing earth. He said, the resurrection was the beginning of God's new plan, not to snatch people away from earth to heaven, but to colonize earth with the life of heaven. He said, after all, that's what the Lord's prayer is all about. It says, may your kingdom come and you will be done on earth as it is. That's right. And so I think that so many within the family of faith have got to be. it backwards and we've adopted the cop-out mission, the escapist mindset, and said, God, get me out of here, Black Hawk down, we're toast, just get me to heaven. And he's going, wait a minute, I sent my son to overcome the world to put someone in you who's stronger than all the forces of darkness
Starting point is 00:25:00 combined. All authority was given to my son. That leaves zero for the devil. And now your job is to go and get back to the mission of making the earth more. more glorious and beautiful just like it is in heaven. Now, go fight, win. Let's do it. Why can't that be true? It is true. Why?
Starting point is 00:25:21 Why? Because, I mean, I look at our sports. Come back. Why can't this spiritual, spiritual comeback planned by God Almighty himself? We see it, we see it all the time at sports. That's right. NFL does it every Sunday. They do.
Starting point is 00:25:37 They plan it. They make a comeback. Okay. Oh, the Saints are behind. Isn't the next thing that happens? Hey, the Saints wins a Super Bowl. Yeah. Yeah, that's right.
Starting point is 00:25:48 And it's the best, and we talk about it for years. Oh, no. Yeah. We don't talk about the regular games where, hey, this team was better than that. We talk about the comeback stories. Hey, and look, who's the greatest comeback story in the world? That would be Jesus Christ himself. Yes, it is.
Starting point is 00:26:04 You're talking about a comeback. Hey, he literally died for us. and then, hey, he had told them. Here's the thing. He had told them. They misunderstood it when he said, hey, you destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.
Starting point is 00:26:23 They thought he was talking about the temple in Jerusalem. He was talking about himself. And guess what he did? Three days, he didn't see decay because the father wouldn't allow it. Number two, hey, death couldn't hold him. How are you going to kill the author of life? That would be Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 00:26:46 You can't kill the author of life. That's right. Okay. And when you think about that, you say, what else I? Hey, he's been given all authority.
Starting point is 00:26:58 Love it. Come on. My man popping up. I love it. Hey, you got to understand. Hey, we all in here. You ain't got you.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Well, hey. He's a mad. He's getting tired up. He doesn't win Phil Robertson on us. When the word has become flesh and has been given after he was raised from the dead, he's given all authority on heaven under earth. Everything is his.
Starting point is 00:27:26 Everything he's above all and in all. Guys, like I said, all the answers are yes in Christ Jesus. you're missing out if you don't get in on it. Well, I love it. You know, hey, let's have a comeback. Let's have a comeback. Clay, no, you got some. You're holding up a page.
Starting point is 00:27:52 Hey, before you get started, before you get started, I do want to circle back something you said at the very beginning. No, no, we can. If you will, I can get you a 20% off right now. Can you really? I need a good night's sleep. But that's neither here nor there. We all have to do our jobs, right?
Starting point is 00:28:08 No, you talked about your perspective changing, becoming a father and now a grandfather. And as a young father with twin boys that are going to be two tomorrow, and one of them last night stuck his finger in his dirty diaper and then wiped his crap on my pants. That was cool. That's neither here and there. I do want to know.
Starting point is 00:28:32 He loves you, dad. Does that stage end? Well. Or is it just a different kind of crap they're like on your hands? It's a different kind. It just, it just, it just, wait to the teen years. No, but I do want to, like, you talk about that perspective changing, and I know that, right? Like, because it is very new to me.
Starting point is 00:28:51 And for people that may not know that, that are listening, what, in your mind, what shifted about that perspective? Because for me, it was then the story of Christ became more real. because now I see my offspring knowing what God had done by allowing his son to die for all of us. Like, you know, if that task is given to me, we're in trouble. I'm just saying, like, I'm just saying,
Starting point is 00:29:22 like, you expect me to send one of mine up there to die for all the humanity. As a human, we're in trouble. I'm just saying, like, so when those perspectives shift, that is that is an awakening it is a um a time to be brave but your bravery shifts right like it's a it's a different it's a different deal so that's what i was more i was curious about point because here's the thing if the time came that it was either your child or you you would stop you would stop it with you oh absolutely no they go doubt in my mind no there's no doubt in my mind you would step up and you would take
Starting point is 00:30:03 would take whatever came to keep them alive. Absolutely, I would. Yeah. No, yeah. 100%. I want to answer your question here. This is a picture of my granddaughter. That's little, little Maya.
Starting point is 00:30:15 Fresh. Yeah, she's just a little beauty. Freshy. And this does change your perspective. You know, one of the things that it makes me think about is that I'm not going to be here forever. I'm 54 years old now. You look good, by the way.
Starting point is 00:30:32 70s, thanks. I've been eating more duck meat. You helped up well. Yeah, you've aged gracefully, unlike me. I'm talking about his 39. I want y'all know, he's a very clean eater, but anyway. So I recognize that I've, that the sand and the hourglass is running out for every single one of us. And at some point, I am not going to be here.
Starting point is 00:30:54 And all that will remain is what I've taught my kids, the things that I've left behind. And I want to leave my kids. faith, character, and courage. I'm going to leave them faith, character, and courage. And I know that Donald Trump can't save him. As much as I want a great president in there to give us the legal air cover, the executive Iron Dome to keep out evil, that's not going to fix our problem. He can't fix.
Starting point is 00:31:24 He can't fix what we got to, we're up against. But I want a bunch of F-15s over the top so that we as the family of faith, can create the good culture inside the country by the family, by the church, by good businesses, good education, good art and entertainment. We've got to create the culture. The government can't do it. And so what that means is we got to get in gear. We got to start doing what God's called us to do. Love it, man. Yeah, I mean, I think part of a future for our kids. And part of that is the restoration of the family unit, right? I mean, it's a cool thing that you see, I think now there is an awakening to that.
Starting point is 00:32:05 Like even on social media, some of the stuff is shipping. Well, if it's not, it needs to, it needs to be an awakening. Yeah. Because the evil one attacked the family unit. Tell us, how many children do you have? We have six children and we adopted the first four. And then we had two, the old, the way size talking about it. And you didn't think you may have never had them.
Starting point is 00:32:33 Well, no, we actually. chose to adopt our four kids because my wife is an adopted child and we wanted to adopt kids. And then it was actually a surprise. My wife came to me one day and she said, hey, guess what? I'm pregnant. And I thought, wow. Man, who's this is it? We've been practicing. I didn't know what would actually happen. Man, this is what happened. Yeah, wow. Well, thanks for being honest. And then it happened again. And so now we have six kids. Well, see, I was just going to say, that picture you had on your phone?
Starting point is 00:33:04 that was a picture of an angel. Hmm. Okay. That's one of the blessings from the Almighty. Okay. No, it is cool because like we've been able to see your family, you know, because you've been hunting down here for a while. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:21 And we call him Little Jimmy. He's obviously not little anymore. He's a man. Yeah. He's a grown man. And then you've done well because I've watched him mature even as a hunter in the times that he's been here. He went from that,
Starting point is 00:33:34 He almost shot, sigh. Si, do you remember? I don't even know if you remember this. We don't talk about those things. Okay, you know, hey, I'm from California, so you don't know what you're going to get when a California shows up. I get it. I understand. I didn't even have a beard in those days.
Starting point is 00:33:47 I had a smooth face. I didn't. And do you remember I had that big Russian woolly, that big furry hat? You look like a very young kid also. Yes, I did. And so I came hunting for the very first time with my boys. And, well, showing up at Phil's trailer was a whole separate experience that, that, that, Freaked me out when I saw it.
Starting point is 00:34:06 But we got into that duck blind, and James, my little guy, was probably eight years old at the time. And he was sitting there shivering cold in the duck blind just before sunrise. And he fell asleep. And he dropped his shotgun. And it fell in the blind, pointed right at you. And we thought, oh, my goodness, we almost killed Uncle Sy. But you were very kind. And you know, he was a first time hunter.
Starting point is 00:34:32 And, you know, hey, that's just how good. goes. Yeah, he's come a long way from that. Because now he's pretty much self-sufficient in the deal. I mean, like, it's, it is cool to see that transformation and like just the change in, even in your life. Because one of the things that you, I've seen you do this since you've been here and you've given me one is your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, your, uh, mantra, which is really cool. I mean, I would, you know, if you're, if you're, if you're, if you're, if you're, if you're, if you're, if you're, it'd be cool to share on here, I think. Cause it is a cool story. One that I, one that I, one that I, uh, one that I, uh, one that I,
Starting point is 00:35:03 haven't forgotten, but like all the things, man, they're just, it's fun, man. It's fun to see the changes, fun to see all the things that happen in life. I'm so glad God made women. I think women are a great idea. I've got the most wonderful woman in the world, but I'm so glad he made me a man. I love being a man. And there's characteristics that we're talking about right now and that I write a lot about in my book about bravery that should characterize men. And in bravery, courage characterized buffaloes. I'll share the story with you if you want to share about the buffalo. So I've got, I carry with me these little buffalo nickels. They're kind of rare. They were only printed between like 1913 and 33, somewhere in that area. It's got a buffalo on one side of them.
Starting point is 00:35:49 And a cool story about the buffalo is that the Native American Indians worshipped the buffalo. They revered the buffalo because it was their, they worshipped buffalo stuff. It was their source of their food, the source of their food. the source of their clothing, the source of their shelter, and the source of their weaponry. And they would watch buffaloes in very difficult situations, and they would model their own tribe after the herd of the buffalo. And this is what they would do. When there was a herd of buffalo, they noticed that they formed themselves in concentric circles. And in the center were the women and the babies, and then the next circle was the young men, and then in the outer circle was the old men, the warriors, the battle seasoned bulls.
Starting point is 00:36:36 And when a threat would come in, like a coyote or a wolf, the bulls would run out there and they would attack them and they would deal with the threat while the women and babies were protected in the center. And while the bulls did that, the young men were watching. They would watch those bulls because they knew that one day they would have to be on the outside circle. And then when the bulls would come back, all bloodied and scarred, the circle, the circle would invert and the bulls would go to the center and be nurtured and comforted by the women and by the
Starting point is 00:37:10 children. And temporarily those young men stood at the outside while the bulls were healing, ready to keep a watch on what was coming because they knew one day they'd have to be there. And when the threat would come, they'd sound the alarm and the circles would invert again, women and children back to the center and the bulls out there. And they would form their own tribes after that. And God has put within us as believers in Christ, a birthright of courage. He has made us to be part of a community and we're all interdependent upon one another and upon him. And if we will protect our women and children, if we will honor them and for the sacred roles that they play, if we will train up and disciple our young men, and we will be brave, strong, and courageous as men, there's nothing we can't,
Starting point is 00:37:57 there's no threat we can't handle. the neat thing about that is let's go back to Jesus okay Jesus is known as the Lamb of God and when he came and walked his earth
Starting point is 00:38:14 all of the followers thinking he was going to put the kingdom literally then he was going to get rid of all of the people that was running thing and he was going to run well you got to understand he's also the line of judah
Starting point is 00:38:33 okay jesus was the lamb okay but he was also the warrior that's right okay he's coming back that's right okay and he's coming back as the line of judah the warrior okay you're talking about bloodshed people Okay, there's a reckoning coming, okay, and you're not going to mistaken who Jesus is when he comes back, okay, because he's going to be the lion of Judah. So I've got a chapter in my book called The Rabbi was a general. Yeah. And that's it. Gentle Jesus meek and mild, the rabbi who said, let the little children come to me, was also.
Starting point is 00:39:29 a general of an army and he's coming with fire coming out of his eyes and a sword of the word of God coming out of his mouth his robes drenched in blood i mean he is coming and and with that's the picture that we see you know what this reminds me of is is the the the sense that i get that men feel neutered and neutralized in our current culture because they are told that masculinity is toxic and that men are kind of treated like they're defective girls. You really ought to be more like the girls. You ought to be softer, more emotional, more emotional, more... No, joy, feminine side. That's it. That's it. And while there is a range of, you know, macho masculinity and taking dominion should never turn into domination of other people, there is that
Starting point is 00:40:24 complementary male-female thing. And I think our vision for men in the church, needs to grow to the size that the Bible gives to men. Not sit down, be quiet, be nice, don't look at porn and pray for the rapture, but go change the world, stop sex trafficking, end and abolish slavery, fix the hunger problem, and close the borders. Okay. The posture has got to come out of the man. That's right.
Starting point is 00:40:54 Okay, and go back to your nickels, buffaloes? Yep. Okay. We need to become a buffalo. That's right. And I guess what, hey, that's right. Here's the thing, and I mentioned him about being their dad.
Starting point is 00:41:10 If it comes to mom or dad, if their children are in harm's way, you better get out of the way of both mom and dad. That's right. Because here they come. That's right. Yeah. No, no.
Starting point is 00:41:24 I got a positive. Hey, that's one thing. Okay. I love Britain. I always, I think she'd be. I think she'd be on that next ring. She'd be on that next ring. I think she'd be in the middle.
Starting point is 00:41:33 She'd be in there with a young male saying, yeah, that I'm not an adult. I'm a child, okay, because I refuse to grow up. Okay. But back to kids and moms and dads, okay. The last thing you want to get in between is a mom with grizzly bear and her cubs. Because she'll kill all of you and each of you and be done.
Starting point is 00:41:58 And you're gone. Yeah, yeah. Okay, and that's the way God is. Okay. God loves the human race. Okay, and whether you know it or not, when he said, I'm always with you, he's really there. But I'm 76 years old and I can look back. Hindsight is 2020.
Starting point is 00:42:21 I can see him now plainly. He's always been there. Right. Every time I need. strength and something real loud, guess who showed up? Yeah. Jesus was there. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:37 So the spiritual comeback we're talking about in this book, that needs to happen. I mean, I'm just a fan of the show, right? And it doesn't matter if it's the Dynasty show or if it's the podcast show or if it's the podcast. Oh, no. If it's growing pains. Yeah. Look, I'm a fan of the show. Full house.
Starting point is 00:42:57 And so, you know, he's connected. I'm telling you. So what I love is talking about the older men who've gone before us in the buffaloes. I mean, that's how I view Phil. That's how I view size. So whenever I'm in this podcast and Martin's going, man, that's Phil coming out. Those are our elders, right? I hate to tell you, Hammer, you on that outside circle now.
Starting point is 00:43:20 A lot of times we wrap up with a scripture. Do you have a favorite scripture that you would love to wrap with today? Oh, boy. Yeah, because we could go on and on. And when you come back, duck cutting, part of your price for coming is going to actually be sit in again. I love it. But, yeah, you're in now.
Starting point is 00:43:37 This is the most fun I've had on a podcast. I think ever. Well, we are known as the fun podcast. Yeah. I'm sorry. You're leaving here to go to Unashamed and I'm sorry. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:48 It's not known as the fun podcast, but no, I'm kidding. How do I say about unshaping? Uh-oh. There's not going to be much fun. Careful because you're going to be shamed a lot. Careful. I know. I will say this because I love when I go be on the unashamed.
Starting point is 00:44:05 I know, and you brought about 20, 25 minutes of it in here today. I was almost at, I was almost at to reprimand you. No, I'm kidding. No, I'm kidding.
Starting point is 00:44:12 I'm kidding. The fans told me, hey, look, you need to preach more. And I said, well, I'll leave that to the preacher's Al Jace and Phil. Well, I come to find out the truth is,
Starting point is 00:44:24 hey, I love to preach myself. Yeah, you're starting to get it through osmosis. Yeah, yeah. No, the, if you do have one or one that, there was probably one that came to mind that inspired this book, so whatever that may be. We'd love for you to close with that. And thank you for being here for sure. Thank you for having. What a joy. What an honor. There are many scriptures
Starting point is 00:44:47 in the book about being strong and courageous for God is with you. And we've talked about that today. But the one that's on my mind that I always come back to, I don't hear many people quote it. it's john chapter 12 verses 31 and 32 i believe i've got that right and it's where jesus said now is the judgment of this world and the god of this world shall be cast down and when i am lifted up speaking of the manner of his death i will draw all men to myself the reason i love that verse is it's like wait a minute. Jesus came to save the world, not to judge the world, but here he's saying, now is the judgment of this world and the God of this world is about to be thrown out. And I'm going to take his place in the heavenly places and all authorities be given to me
Starting point is 00:45:39 because of my death and my resurrection. I'm going to draw people out of all nations into my kingdom. What that tells me is there's a massive power shift that occurred when Jesus Christ came and he died on the cross. What looked like the devil's checkment, to destroy the king of kings was actually his victory. Yeah, misleading. It was misleading. And it was the victory. And that's how God does it.
Starting point is 00:46:04 And so what that tells me is, I know who's on the throne. We're not fighting for victory today. We're fighting from victory today. That's why we proclaim it. That's right. To try to act right and be right is because of what and who he is and what he's done. the battle has been raging but guess what the victory is ours that's right that's way bigger because jesus is already overcome everything he's first and everything guys yeah all right
Starting point is 00:46:39 well that's kirk it has been fun we know you got to go you got a schedule so thank you for stopping by look born to be brave by born to be brave it's the first time it's not animation for kirk It's a real deal. He's finally grown up. He's an adult now. I have a real beard. Yeah. Hey,
Starting point is 00:46:59 this is actually there. I'm still working on that. Oh, no. I'm kidding. Thanks so much, I love you guys. Thank you for having you.
Starting point is 00:47:05 We'll see y'all next time. It's a pleasure, my man. It really is. There you go. I've been a job like you. This is one of the better ones, boys. Si may not nap today. That's right.
Starting point is 00:47:15 Hey, I probably won't them too far up. Hey, I couldn't sleep the other night. I went to Texas and did not sleep where it because I was, I was all tore up about the political arena. Oh, well, don't let, don't lose no sleep over that. Yeah, all right, we'll see y'all next time. God's got this.
