Ready?
I guess.
I guess.
Hunter, start that clock and let's just see what happens.
Yeah.
Welcome back to the duck call room, ladies and gentlemen.
We've been going through it.
Yeah, man.
It's life.
Life's been a toughie.
We've got a special guest with us.
It's an easy special guest.
We had, you know, we've lost Phil.
We've lost Uncle Joe.
So let's bring in Phil's best friend and Uncle Mac.
And we'll just work through all of it together.
Bring in Phil.
There you go.
Bring in Phil's best friend and Joe's brother.
Yeah.
Who, by the way, I would like to commend you before we get started on what you did at your brother's service.
Unbelievable.
Well, thank you.
Heck of a job.
Heavyer tone in here than the last few weeks.
Yeah, man.
But we're going to have fun today.
And we make a living sort of kind of.
It's not a very good one, but it is a living of making people laugh via a variety show.
But I think it's good.
also to know that life's not always
butterflies and rainbows even for us
there's a lot of people out there that say
you know I'm sure it's easy for y'all look what y'all got
but the same things that happen to y'all happen to us
it just so happens to us
right now it's happened in the past three weeks
like I mean it has just been
one shell after another
which is fine because
that that is what happens in life
but we have the
hope that gets you through it.
Here's what just happened to be.
It's an oxymorah.
Okay.
What did you call me?
No, no.
I said it's an oxymoron.
And I may have mispronounced it all.
Oh, you got that.
I was sitting there when y'all started talking, I'm saying, okay.
I said, this is so weird.
I said, because this man is a master carpenter.
Yeah.
Okay.
My brother couldn't square nothing if, you know,
Never, okay.
And then it's all about the real carpenter.
Amen.
There you go.
The one that created all this, okay,
and then lived short 33 years on this earth.
And he became flesh so we could get our hands on him and murder him.
Okay.
He died for what I did wrong, okay?
As I was guilty as I'll get out.
And everybody else in this room,
same deal he died for them also and the rest of the world you know so that's why we're here okay
i just lost my my brother phil robinson the man known as the duck commander okay
but i can't quote you to tell you where it's at but i can tell you what it was about i bet this guy can
you know paul said okay in a lot of his writings in the bible i don't want you to be ignorant like the
rest of the world.
You know, I don't want you to grieve like they do because you're not in the same
arena as they are.
Okay.
And that's the thing that, you know, my faith in that statement and all the rest of the
Bible is what keeps me going.
You know, when you said that, too, people come up to us and say, hey, hey, I lost your,
you lost your brother or you lost your friend.
and I'm like, oh, we didn't lose them.
We know where they're at.
Well, no, no, see, that's the thing that they don't understand because I'm a mama's boy,
okay, and I'm proud of it.
Amen.
I loved her to death, okay.
I left you hanging.
Boom.
People said, what are you going to do when she dies?
You know, and I said, well, if you'd asked me that years ago, I wouldn't have been able to tell you.
I said, but it's very easy.
I said, death is nothing but a change of address.
I said, number one, I know.
where my mother went.
I know who's waiting there for her.
She's surrounded by those she loves and that those have gone on before.
And I said, boy, you're talking about a party.
I said, you know, they said when one comes back to Jesus,
there's a party going on in heaven.
Well, I always look at it when it's storming and you just got the thunder.
crashing the lightning flashing.
You know,
and my kids asked me when I,
I had my younger,
youngans, okay, they asked us,
what's that noise?
I said, they're having a party in heaven.
I said, some sinner just come back
to the house.
Yeah.
Don't come back home.
Y'all need this, yeah.
Yeah, we are imperfect men
following a perfect thing.
Made, made perfect by the chosen one.
Amen.
Yeah.
Why would he, hey, you know what, it was a pretty big risk that he took on us,
to choose us?
I mean, I'm like, are you sure?
No, no.
It was not the smart bet.
It was not the safe bet.
Let's put it that way.
No, I don't even have the words what he took.
But every time I look in the mirror, I just go,
I can't believe that you're still with me.
And we laugh about that because it is almost actually funny.
It's comical that he would choose us.
Well, it's so bad, okay?
We were so bad.
That's what the problem was.
Well, you know, that's what people, they don't understand.
Jay's done a good lesson, I guess, two weeks ago.
The father's for you.
The son is with you, and the Holy Spirit dwells you, lives in you.
You really, you stupid human being, you don't really know what that means.
Or you wouldn't be doing what you're doing.
Look, I just heard, when you said that,
I just heard Phil say, you idiot.
You idiot?
No, no.
I used that word a lot because they said, oh, here we go with the idiot again.
Y'all, they didn't look at me and said, why have I got to be an idiot?
I said, because I'm one.
Yeah.
And I said, we are all one.
Guilty.
Big dunny.
I said, hey, I said, you know, I said, I just don't get it.
here's a person okay and I'm big on T-H-E-M-A-N the man.
That's two words.
Yeah.
Well, really split that up here.
Whatever.
But okay, because look, I was just, I was having one of my nights, you know,
and I'm standing asleep and I hear,
psal, wake up.
I got something to tell you.
Yeah.
And it was, hey, the man that hung the,
moon, the sun, the stars.
People don't realize, I said, hey, yeah, let me repeat you.
I know the man that hung the sun, the moon, the stars, and not only that, his power
sustains everything you see.
You know, that's interesting that you say that side, because most of the time, or many people
think about God, the father being the one that created everything, but it says in John that
everything that was made was made by and through Jesus.
Right.
So, and then it says he's the word, right?
And so I love that because all God the father had to do was say the word.
All he said was Jesus.
And then all of a sudden things started, it was like, boom.
No, no.
Hunter just adjusted his earphone.
Yeah, Mike turned his down.
People don't realize, okay.
Father is a spirit, Holy Spirit is a spirit, but when you come to the son, okay, hey, you've come up on something.
Okay.
Some would call it life change.
Oh, no, no.
Oh, no.
Because you look, and I'll tell them, because the phrase I hear most often when I leave is, well, I can't see this God you're always talking about it.
And then I look and I go, God, I pity.
you, sir or ma'am.
I said, because I can't go anywhere that I don't see him.
Or I can't look, you know, I said,
open your eyes and clear your mind and look at creation for crying out loud.
And I said, look, we're so sorry, okay.
And Jesus has made it so easy for us.
He's gave us, done everything.
giving all of it to us.
I said, hey,
I said, it's personal.
I said, you don't understand
because you've never seen him do anything.
I said, here's where the Robertson family
has been blessed beyond measure,
what the Bible would say.
He showed us.
Kids have come into us that are dying
of stage four cancer.
This rotten person
says a prayer for this kid
and God in his infinite
mercy and love
and forgiveness
says, wow, and it's gone.
Amen.
And here's the cool thing about that.
Are you excited?
What you just said?
What are you talking about?
What you just said is what it says in
1 Corinthians that he now speaks
through us as we were his ambassadors.
No, no, because see, that's what,
yeah.
Do you just, did you just,
Did you hear what he just said?
This is the creator and he treats us as an ambassador of his.
You know what ambassadors do?
They speak on behalf of the one who sent them.
Yeah.
So we're now speaking on behalf of, as Phil would say, the creator of the cosmos and he
trust us.
Can you believe that?
He trusts us?
See, that's what I'm saying.
Okay.
Me and you can start preaching to each other right now.
Hey, I'm going to have you back more often.
I ain't got a whole lot to say.
Martin, I'm going to go to the bathroom.
I'm just going to watch this.
Yeah, this is good.
Yo.
All right, look, springtime is here.
It's warming up.
You know what that means?
That means more outside cooking.
And y'all know we love to eat beef around here.
And that's what because of our friends over at Triedale's beef makes such a good product, baby.
Ain't it good?
It's so good.
Our friend, Sao Robertson would say, buy on the grill.
Look, before we got Triedells, getting ready for a cookout, man,
somebody had to run the grocery store, do all the things, grab whatever was left in case you were late in the day.
And you never really know where that beef comes from.
But with Triedales beef, we skip the grocery store and do it a different way.
Triedales comes from a family ranch out in Texas.
They're a fifth generation American ranch.
So they've been at it for a while.
Now, look, the beef comes straight from their ranch and other ranchers they work with who raise cattle the same way.
Their steaks are properly aged and shipped straight from the ranch to your door.
We threw a couple of ribbys on the grill.
Look, salt, pepper, garlic, hot fire, that's all you need.
Look, because I tell you what, when the beef comes from people who raise cattle for a living,
you can taste the difference.
The tenderness and the flavor are fantastic.
So if you're stocking the freezer for grilling season, go check out Triedails beef.
I know in size case, Christine loves it, which is just a, she doesn't eat meat.
She ain't a big meat easier, folks.
Yeah.
Just go to trybeef.com slash.
That's tribeef.com slash.
support ranch families and eat some dang good steak.
Well, look, we got Mac in here and obviously the first 20 minutes have been the most
honored to feel you can give him.
It's to keep sharing the message.
Did we preach the gospel or something?
Only about seven times in 20 minutes, which is great, right?
Because that's the same thing Phil would have done.
Phil took the verse in Peter where it says always have an answer for the hope that you have.
He had it.
And he always had that answer.
answer. Now, he may have avoided the second part of that a little bit, do so with gentleness and
respect, but gentleness wasn't necessarily his M.O.
I wasn't his strong point.
No, he was, I would, didn't sometimes.
But he was out of respect.
Gentle was a little, it would be a little.
No, no, no. It was out of order.
It was.
This is orders from headquarters, Jack.
Yeah.
It was from headquarters.
But we brought in.
Your blood is not going to be on my hands.
because hey when the day comes
you're gonna
god's gonna hit you with this
hey you remember that crazy old bearded man
I sent you
yeah for 50
that spoke to you about the father
son and holy spirit
for 51 years if you ran into Phil
Robertson you heard the gospel
whether you wanted to or not
you heard it and
I got up this morning
feeling down
wore out old
but now hey
you seem kind of fired up
I'm about 18 years old right now.
Oh, man, look at there.
Hey, I just got, I went to the hospital last week and they checked my heart, man.
And they said, they said, you have the cholesterol of a 20-year-old.
You know what I said?
Give me some bacon.
Yeah.
Hey.
Hey, you know, I will say one thing, you know, I'll never forget going with Phil when he said,
Owens.
Owens?
I think, yeah.
You know, I knew him for almost 40 years.
He never called me Mac one time in my life.
My name is Owens.
Yeah. So he said, Owens, I think somebody's running our hoopnets out there.
Well, what are you going to do? He said, oh, we're going to talk.
But when he said that, he picked up his Bible and his browning 16-gauge shotgun.
And so that brownie would be sitting across his lap, but he'd always pull the Bible out first.
But I had to tell you what, you know, what I loved about that, he was like, you boys don't have to steal from me because you are stealing from my family right now.
But if you need something to eat, I will give you some fish right now.
I come home one on leave, you know.
And he was telling me, he said, well, he said, you're not going to believe it.
And I said, what's going on?
He said, well, I tried it my way with a 16-gauge shotgun.
You know, secure the H-E-D-L out of them.
He said, that didn't work.
He said, now, I can't kill him.
That's against what I believe.
He said, so I tried it God's way.
And I said, what are you talking about?
But he still carried his gun with him.
Yeah.
Oh, ain't no doubt.
No, no, he didn't go all the way.
He didn't go all the way.
He said, you're never going to believe what this,
about, I said, what happened?
He said, I heard him down there.
I heard a boat coming, motor stop.
I said, that's about where my net that.
So he said, I grabbed my gun, my Bible.
Just got in the boat, go out there.
Sure enough, they're running my net.
He said, all right, boys, when he pulled up her, he said,
look like somebody's got a fish fry going.
going.
He said,
how many you go?
How many is coming?
You know,
and these guys are looking at
when their eyes
to get big
because he's got
this shotgun in his hand
as he's talking.
He said, hey,
I ask you a question.
How many is coming
to the fish fry?
You know,
10, 15?
Yeah, and then, hey,
he got over in the boat.
They only had to fish,
you know, he said,
how many that net.
They rolled the net over there
and he got it out yet.
So he just started taking them out and throw them in the boat, y'all.
He'd done through 15, 20 fish in the boat, y'all.
He said, uh, he said, what, 15, 15?
He said, ah, you better add another 10 because, hey, when they smell that grease, y'all,
I hear that grease, he said, there'll be 10 more short.
So he threw about separate more fish in there.
He said, boys, now I'll leave you with this, and he still got that shotgun.
He says, you don't have to stay.
He said, you come up and knock on my door.
I'll come down here, get in my boat, come out here and run these nets,
give you the fish you need for the fish fry.
He said, then I'll reset my net where to catch fish.
He said, see, that's the thing you don't understand.
You take the fish out and then you just throw the thing back in the water.
Well, then I'm sitting here and it ain't fishing.
And that's how I'm feeding my family with it.
That's right.
He said, I ought to go ahead and blow you away.
that thought you to the fish. That's you, that's a fish issue. Can you imagine that
approaching you while you're doing something nefarious in the woods? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Martin sent me that. That is that exact gun. That's his shotgun. That's a 16 gauge.
I see that. That's 16 gauge. I see that. Look, we're being here, we're going down
the second slew one time and he's just wide open with that 35, you know, and he's got that 16
gauge and a duck, and I can say this since he's gone now. The duck's coming flying back up.
Up, up, up, up. Yeah. And we're going down.
down and he looked he never took his hand off that throttle he took one hand with that 60 boom
i said now that's a man that can shoot right there that's that's unbelievable yeah can't prosecute him
now well hey one of my favorite sayings was he said owens when we get to heaven it's going to be
virgin timber and he said ducks no problem no limits and guess what no game warden no game warden
Oh, that's what I said yesterday and that one.
I said, if Joe Oliveris made it, which I didn't know Joe personally, and he may be there.
I don't know.
I said, but don't you know if he is, the first thing he did was walking to Phil and said, how'd you do it?
Yeah.
How'd you do it?
What, what, tell me.
Tell me how you did it.
I would love to see that reunion right there because he was mean as a snake.
Yeah.
Tell me how you did it.
What was that they put up on screen?
was the Phil got to heaven and he said he was greeted by Elv.
Angry Ducks.
He was met by 12 million angry mallard.
The Babylon B posted ones.
Oh, no, Phil Robertson gets to heaven and is surrounded by 12 million angry ducks.
Well, hey, you know, and I love laughter because, you know,
and Phil did to everybody that I know I can't think of a common denominator,
but all the people that I love, they all make me laugh.
And when I think about Phil and getting,
surrounded by those angry ducks.
Now that's something to laugh about right there.
Yeah, that's what everybody in the comments was like,
oh, that's too soon, too.
So I'm like, man, y'all didn't know feeling.
Mary Post was the other day.
There you go.
There you go.
Phil would have looked at that way.
And look, he looks scared.
He does look scared.
He looks scared.
Well, Mary posted a thing yesterday to somebody had given her,
and it's a picture, an AI picture of Jesus and Phil,
and Phil meets Jesus.
Look, in the comments now, no lie.
somebody said is that real or AI I said no it's real Jesus came back yesterday
yeah yeah we he came back for the photo op and then we you know he went back though
that's how I imagine but absolutely it was real you never go to heaven you never go to
heaven alone you've got an escort amen okay and hey it ain't no doubt in my mind that
Jesus has favorites.
Okay, and one of them is our military.
People that give their life for other people.
Amen.
Oh, trust me, I want to tell you,
they're walking hand-hand-hand with Jesus.
Hey, let me, come on, let me give you a tour, a friend tour.
Yeah, rarely would a man die for somebody,
but for a good one, someone might dare to die.
But Jesus died for us when we were at our absolute worst.
Worst.
Yes.
Oh, good grace.
actually it says there it says when you were his ungodly enemies that's when he said i'll die for you
ain't that crazy that's a that's another one ain't that crazy i wouldn't have done that mark well no i mean
as a human right now think about everybody's got somebody they don't like right or just you don't
jehaw with and the fact if somebody said you got to take a bullet for that man living in today's world
since crucifixion ain't necessarily a thing you'd be like um um hard
pass. No. Nope. Not doing it. Like, I'm not. So the fact that he willingly, not only did he take the
bullet, so to speak, he tooted it. He toaded the gun. Like, you know, I mean, he, he didn't take
the bullet. He tooted the gun to the place. Like, and, and that is wild to think about that kind of
love, which, well, that's what he told Judas. What you just said, he said, do what you came to do.
Yeah. Do it. I know what you're.
here for do it oh like do it and when he could have stopped it off he didn't and and again that is the
that's the thing that gets me because you know uh you know uh i don't remember who's preached it now but it was
oh uh mike kennett peace purpose and power you don't realize the power that jesus christ has
his death and burial and resurrection after he was resurrected.
They had been asking him when he was alive,
by what authority are you doing this?
Well, he gave him his answer after he was resurrected from the dead.
Hey, dudes, guess what?
All authority in heaven and on earth and everywhere else has given to, guess who?
Yours truly.
Me, Jesus Christ.
You know,
when you said that,
I think about Pilots said that.
He said,
you know,
I could take you,
and you don't even know
what I could do to you.
It could be so bad.
And Jesus said this,
you have no authority
except what my father has given you.
Without you.
Oh, man.
What a line.
No, no.
That's why I,
okay,
I loved it when yo,
yo,
Noah was asking the Lord,
who shall I say sent me?
He gave this answer.
You tell him, I am sent you.
But guess what?
When the sun showed up, they got to asking him all these questions.
What did he say?
I am the way.
I am the life.
I am the light.
I've heard that before.
That's back here in that first book.
I love it when Cy scares himself.
He gets startled.
See, that's what, you know, and back to the power.
I think the most powerful thing the human race has come up with so far is the nuclear bomb.
Yo, hey, look, compared to what power Jesus has available,
that would be like the smallest firecracker we could ever make.
That'd be a snake or a sparkler.
No, the one of them that you throw on the ground and it pops.
Yeah.
One you spit under toilet seats.
Hey,
look,
if you can raise a dead person,
thank God he can.
Yeah.
And thank God he did.
And he will.
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah.
And thank God he will.
He holds the,
he has the power to hold everything under his control.
That even means when a nuclear,
when that thing splits and blows up,
he said,
oh no,
I just pinch that off.
Yeah.
No, it ain't going.
Let me put that out.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Just like putting out a cigarette.
Hold on me put that out.
That's right.
Let me put that out real quick.
It'll be all right.
You know.
I don't go there.
Hey, look, you know, when you're talking about, you know, Judas and Peter say, I mean, Jesus saying, do what you came to do.
So he betrays Jesus, but then Peter basically does the same thing.
Oh, no.
There was two different responses.
Now, they both, it says, they wept bitterly and they were remorseful.
Both of them.
Here's the difference.
Judas took care of matters in his own hands.
Peter said, I got to find Jesus.
And then Jesus sets up an encounter with Peter.
I love it because when Peter betrayed Jesus, he was standing over a campfire.
How many times you stood over a campfire and you know that smell?
And every time you smell it, then all of a sudden your memory goes back to other fires.
Well, Jesus sets up an encounter to bring Peter back.
Guess what?
Over a campfire.
I don't think that was any coincidence.
All of a sudden, now Peter runs, gets out in the water, swims the shore, gets there.
and Jesus got that fire going.
What do you think the first thing Peter thought of?
Uh-oh.
And I betrayed him.
That smell.
Oh, everything came back to him.
But you know, Jesus didn't leave Peter there, and he doesn't leave us there.
He says, I'm going to bring you back home right now.
Come on, do you love me?
No, really, do you love me?
Come on.
And in that moment, Peter was broken and said, I'll never do this again, and I will die for this man.
Well, see, that's why when I hear people talking about it, you know, I even have one guy tell me one time, well, if he was the son of God, he didn't even feel nothing they'd done to him.
I said, you stupid idiot.
You know, you missed.
Very theological.
Oh, yeah, and I said, you stupid idiot, you missed the whole point.
Exactly.
That's why when I got on this de-man kick, I said, you just missed it all.
he gave up deity and became a human being for crying out he was in where we all long and hoped to be
he could have just sat there and he came here and if anything i've learned in the last month is that
this place can suck oh yeah yeah well it says you're right and he came and joined in it and said and
it sucked for him sometimes his friends died Lazarus died and he didn't
weep for him. He wept for the people around
Lazarus, you know? And he
chose to do that.
He chose to everything
you're going through. He chose
to take it on with you.
And he chose to come here and live out this
thing for 33 years and just
go through the suck that is
earth.
Because they describe it
the Nordals.
I got to preach him.
You don't banged a pool pit too.
Everybody go in Venice Field up in here.
I started sweating when he was going over.
I was like, careful now.
Yeah.
But crucifixion is supposed to be, according to the experts,
the most horrible, painful death that can be.
Well, I know this.
If you're nailed to a wooden cross, okay, I have breathing problems.
That's why I carry the stupid thing around.
My own fault, by the way, I smoked too many cigarettes.
Winston's.
So, hey, I got what is a dessert.
Yeah.
Anyway, okay, back to, okay, if you're gasping for breath, you, you, you, you, you, you, it's scary.
It will scare you because you're, you're trying to get more oxygen in your lungs so you feel all right.
Yeah.
You can't do it.
Been there.
Well, hey, think about being nailed to a cross.
Doesn't spend spirit in the side.
Okay.
And you can't, you know, you're hanging there by your flesh and bones.
Well, just for a way that we can't.
Think of how bad it hurts when you hit your thumb with a hammer.
Well, no, no.
Now forget hitting your thumb with a hammer.
I'll do that.
Have the nail go through your hand.
Like, with somebody hammering.
And that ain't even with today's hammers.
This was with something somebody tied together a rock and a piece of stick.
Like, it ain't, it ain't a mall.
And it wasn't a polished nail either.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, it wasn't sharp by no man.
I mean, it took some hump.
This is probably square.
Yeah, and then you just, then you're there.
And like, it's rip it.
I mean, yeah, there's, I, no.
Hey, I shot, somebody shot my hand to a board one time with a nail gun and that hurt.
But you know what?
It was over that quick.
But somebody pounded it in with a.
Yeah, just laying there, beating it with a big stone hammer.
Yeah.
And it was, your nail was sharp.
And he chose.
And polished.
Yeah, and he just laid there.
not laid there but you know what i'm saying he did not fight it he he took it and his last words
and there's a man that's hanging there because of what i did wrong and can you imagine you said you're a
mama's boy well i am too i know john david is uh mac still wear sleeves around his mom to
cover up his tattoos so i'm assuming by that admission so is mac a mama's boy and you're going
through that and you're sitting there looking at your earthly mom like the one that bore you the one that
got you here yeah the one that got you here yeah is sitting there watching you and you're looking at her
i mean but yeah all you want to do is run from the man all you want to do is run you don't want the
accountability that's involved with saying i need you that it's it's so simple which is what we
talked about yesterday that's what field delivery
so perfectly every time was the simplicity of the gospel and that's why he affected so many people
because he kept it simple we can get in there and we can study and we can scholarly Hebrew this
and Greek that and all the things I don't really speak English me too and I took Latin so I mean
I took the one I took the language when you were forced to take the language I took the one you
didn't have to speak you know why because I barely got a great
grasp on this English one. I didn't want to have to work on another one. But in that fact,
we tend, no, we don't tend. We do overcomplicate it, which is something Phil never did.
He never made it more than Jesus Christ. Very simple message.
And that's why God said, watch what I'm about to do from the mouth of Cyprus Creek.
Yeah, which makes. With a fisherman, zero sin. And a duck hunter. And,
who refused to have a phone.
And for 28 years,
as devilish of a person as there was on this earth.
And he told more,
like,
when you really think about it,
like the amount of people that heard Phil Robertson say,
Jesus died for you,
like,
he might,
like,
is there,
Billy Graham,
I have more?
Nah,
I don't think.
Like,
at this point in the world,
he might told more people
the gospel than any other human being on earth.
And that doesn't make any sense
because he didn't even have a cell phone
to take a selfie and do it.
He couldn't get on TikTok and say Jesus loves you.
He just did it from down there somehow.
And it doesn't make any sense.
Sitting in a recliner on the bank of the river,
which is so...
Box of guns and stuff in medicine.
When we left here yesterday,
we went to Owls to talk about the service
and Sy was there, K was there.
And it was great because we were all laughing
and cutting up
and telling Phil stories, all the things.
But it was so funny because Al just stopped, like, right at the end.
He said, you know what?
He said, I'm now realizing Dad may be the only person that's going to preach his own funeral.
Like, he said, but he talked about it so many times, his own death.
He said, he talked about his own death way more than he talked about his own life.
And he said, this is going to be maybe the first ever where the man preaches his own funeral.
Like he does it.
And that was just something to think about that.
That's, I look at that now as shouldn't that be a goal to do that for ourselves?
Like to point people to the ultimate message.
And he was continually doing, I mean, I'll never forget how many, I don't even know how many times he said, Owens, when I'm gone, don't cry for me.
Yeah, well, good luck.
I ain't, I ain't, he told us all that.
And I know.
I ain't accomplished that mission yet.
No.
We're doing great today compared to yesterday.
Oh, God.
But you know, you're talking about Latin and Greek, and Phil was an English scholar.
Oh, yeah.
He's got a master's degree in English.
You know, one thing I told him, I said, you know, I don't know anything but English.
And most of that I learned from Sesame Street, like a junction, junction, what you'll function.
You know, I learned.
And the cool thing about that is that in 1 John, Jesus makes a vehicle to take us back to being right with God.
and that vehicle is confession.
He said, confess your sins and I'll forgive you.
And then there's that other conjunction, and he said, and purify you.
So not only is he forgiving us, he's cleaning us up every day.
So we can stand before him.
He looks at you, sigh, and me and says, oh, those are my perfect sons.
I'm like, did you miss what I did yesterday?
He said, I didn't miss a thing.
But because your older brother decided to pay the price for you, I see you as I
see him.
At a congregation, I won't mention this before, I used to teach the teenagers.
So I was teaching a class and I got on, who is Jesus, okay?
Yes, I would have been my youth guy.
Go.
Oh, look.
That one.
They got, they got a story to tell.
And during the sermon that I was my class, my teacher, I said, well, hey, here's another
thing that Jesus is.
He's my older brother.
Mm-hmm.
Well, I didn't know it.
One of the elders that stuck in
and was sitting down there living.
So they called me at the end of church,
you know,
and said, before we leave,
and we didn't speak to you.
You know, the three elders.
I said, okay, no problem.
So when I walked in there,
they said,
you can no longer teach our teenagers.
I got weeded out.
Wow.
Y'all and I said,
well, I got one question.
Why?
Why?
And one of them, you know,
he said, because you brought Jesus down.
and I said, time out.
I said, no, I didn't do that.
And I said, look, guys, I said, hey, it's no big deal.
You brought Jesus down?
No, he brought himself down.
No, that's what I said, time out.
I said, you need to read the Bible.
I believe that's what we call Christian.
Yeah, Mr. Elder Man, you know what I do things like that?
You know what God says, I hear this voice.
When I say stuff like that, I say, he'll say like, hey, little man, who do you think
you are?
Because they were trying to be in control.
Yeah, no, no, but anyway, because I told them, I said, hey, I said, look, y'all needs to read the Bible.
I've heard you say.
I said, it Jesus himself says, I will call them brothers.
I said, so he, I said, I certainly didn't bring him down.
I said, but I'm sure thankful that he came down of his own accord.
And I said, you guys, I said, you're in error.
I said, I still love you
and I said, I'm still going to come here.
And I said, it's okay.
I don't mind.
Yeah.
Well, one of them, after I got, you know,
they said, okay, it's over.
I said, fine.
And I said, no hard feelings.
I said, I'll be here, you know, tonight, you know.
So I got to walk out, one of them come out and he said,
hey, I'm with you.
They are in error.
I tried to tell them and they wouldn't listen.
And I said, don't worry.
I said, I ain't worried about it.
I said, if you think I'm going to let you push me away from the creator, you've lost your
mind.
Yeah.
Okay, I said, hey, you're in there and I know it, you know it.
And, hey, as far as it needs to go, forget it.
Okay, I won't teach the kids.
Well, what you said, you said earlier, the word deity.
And in Colossians, it says, all the fullness of deity lives in bodily form.
Jesus and then it says this
and that same
fullest now lives in you
oh no see that's another thing
that's why I tell people I said
I don't understand it
I said you've got the man
okay that would be Jesus
Christ of the Messiah
okay and he
the only thing he wants for you
it's always first class
he's picked up
the tab for
everything
you got an upgrade
right?
Yeah.
Yeah, you're a nobody, okay?
He's made you somebody, number one.
He's gave you everything you need, number two, okay,
and he loves you beyond measure.
I think that's number four.
Oh, that's enough.
Yeah, that's enough.
That's enough.
That's enough.
He's giving you everything you'll ever need.
Yeah, what more do you want?
What more do you need?
Yeah.
What can you even come up with that he hasn't given you?
I got nothing.
Not a thing.
No, come on.
And then I see you turn your back on him and run toward the evil one.
Well, Mike, we'd be remiss if before you got out of here,
we didn't ask a simple question and probably a complicated one at the same time.
Of course.
Is this about...
Huh?
How you doing?
No.
I mean, I know how Max doing.
Because he's human.
We all are doing the same, right?
Like, we're all struggling through different things.
And no, but with the honor of Phil and your brother Joe, the memory that comes to mind, like, the one of Phil.
Like, because I know y'all went through some hard times,
some good times and then some great times right you were people don't know this mac was
phil's original business partner for lack of a better term right i mean he went in with phil and
bought that piece of crap land that they have down there that they turned into a duck hole like
it's a place that is good for absolutely nothing except fellowship it's at fellowship and kill a few
ducks that's right like it is emphasis on few and getting fewer every year um because
if you look at it, you're like, yeah, this is, this is a wasteland. Like, there's nothing here. But, you know,
so I know you spend a lot of time with Phil in a, in a different time and place than a lot of us and a lot of
people have seen him. So if there's the, the one, we'd love for you to share or, you know,
and even lumping your brother into that, because you, you've lost two pillars in your line.
You know, and so have we. So we all have two. And so I think our fans,
After reading and chatting with the fans last night, they love to know that the people that they watch and they listen to are in fact human.
So if there's anything on your heart, on your mind, you'd like to share with that.
We want to give you that opportunity, man.
Yeah, well, the, I didn't mean to do that, by the way.
I'm so sorry.
That's all right.
Jerk.
Well, no, I'm joking on the jerk part.
No, I'm just.
We almost made it through without crying.
Well, good.
Like, good for us, right?
I've been thinking a lot about how short this life really is losing two people that I love very dearly.
And the one thing that keeps coming up in my mind is that grief is the payment that we make for love.
And I love these two men very dearly.
Phil was a friend
that really taught me
what a friend was.
And he was always there.
And when I say always,
you can't say that about a lot of people.
But there was never a time that I didn't,
if I needed him,
that he wouldn't have been right there.
And he was.
And me for him.
Because this friendship that we have
was actually stronger than even being a brother.
And that's,
hard to fathom because I just like I said lost my brother too. But the friendship I had with Phil
was yeah there's no words like amazing. That's not even a good word. I mean it's just it's
undescribable how you can actually almost know somebody's thought other than your wife but I would
know things that he was fixing to do. He would know things that was fixing to do. And this is the
stupidest thing ever I'm going to say right now about the first memory that comes to my
mine. Me and him are sitting down there at George Franklin's place because he had land right
next to ours. And we thought because it was 200 yards away that it was better duck cutting.
That the ducks didn't have to fly over one and you going to Franklin's. I don't know. I said,
so we get George that let us build a blind over there. And me and him spent one whole duck season,
just me and him and that blind. I mean, everybody else that gave up on the whole thing.
But he said, Owens, I know they're coming.
I know they're coming.
So look, we're in the line one day.
And these teal came over.
And I mean, we hadn't seen ducks that out of when.
They came over and did it go, boom, boom.
And I sat there for a second.
I said, how many did you get?
He looked at me.
He said, Owens, when somebody says that, that means they didn't get any.
I got four.
I said, you only had three shots.
He said, I got four.
So yeah, you know, besides the fact of telling me, show me what a friend was, he really gave me a security about my salvation and realizing that if God could take a heathen like Phil, he could take a heathen like me and I could be in fact a son of God.
And so the things that he showed me in life were amazing.
did it in a way that was pushy to me.
It was just matter of fact.
Oh, no, no, because I was going to add when y'all was talking about all to go, that's why John
316 and 17 are my favorite verses.
And you can, everybody knows 16.
You need to look at 17.
Amen.
Here's the man that is savior of the world.
He's qualified.
Okay.
He's qualified.
to judge us.
Okay.
And yet he says,
he'll,
Jesus talking,
I didn't come to judge you.
I come to save you.
Well,
Phil,
I think every sermon
he preached
about Jesus,
there was no
condemnation
from him
toward another sinner.
No.
Good Lord.
Nothing but love.
That was the key to his
success. Yeah. Okay. Hey, look, dude, you're talking to the worst of the worst because Phil thought
that of himself. Nothing but love. No, no. And he shared you and it went deeper than anybody that knows him,
okay? He shared the gospel with you for one simple reason. And he would say it a lot of times,
I told you because I love you. I only tell you this. I only tell you this. And I may be a real
pushy when I told you. I love you. Because I love it. Because I love it. But I love it. I.
only told you because I love you.
Y'all, and you was talking about,
y'all had a bond.
Okay, because you had your bad, you know.
I told people,
asked me, what did you learn going to Vietnam?
I said that everybody's got their dark side.
Mm-hmm.
That's why I tell for you every once in a while
after the movie, the blind come out.
I said, hey, you ain't alone.
I said, I'm right there with you.
I've been where you made me not to the extent you was,
but hey, yeah, I don't have my dark side moments too.
Yeah, because that's one of the things that I always looked at him
and respected him for.
Everybody wants to do a movie about, hey, look at me, how good and great I am.
They didn't do that with Phil.
They come to him and said, hey, look, we want to show the world your rotten
sorry person you all are and always will be and he said really okay you know and that road heavy was
him hey i want to tell you i was just thinking about that exact thing at the premier here in monroe
louisiana yeah after it was over with i was sitting right there by him i said wow this is going
to touch a lot of people i'm really proud that you did this he said owens he said it's so embarrassing
that I treated Jesus like I did and that he still loved me.
And when he said that, I was just like, I didn't know what to say.
No, no.
What can you say?
Right.
But he had become so sensitive to the fact, even as he got older,
about who he was and what he did to Jesus,
and Jesus still accepted him.
And I think that that never leaves any of us.
And then to go back about you when you said,
hey, he trusts us enough of.
Okay.
He made us ambassadors.
To represent him, are you joking?
And to put it into days terms.
Yeah.
Are you joking?
You won't.
Oh, God.
To put it into days.
To put it into days terminology, influencers.
We're all influencers for Jesus Christ.
Like, in that, yeah.
And Max, if that don't blow your mind.
You're an idiot.
There's something wrong with you.
I tried a lot of stuff to blow my mind,
and this is the one thing that actually really blew my mind.
That was my past life, by the way.
No, no.
No, no.
I tried to short circuit.
Yeah.
I tried to do things that would make me go wherever I can't go.
Oh.
Well, the other, real quick, I know we're probably out of time,
but the other day when I went to see him about two weeks ago,
and they said, Mac, you probably won't remember you now.
And I started telling him some more stories,
and he was just sitting there.
I told him one story in particular.
He just raised his head up.
And he took his hand, and he put it on top of mind.
And he just went.
He's done that to me.
Yeah.
I told a fisher story, we were tow lining.
Red River. Well, it was hung up
out there. So, well, hey, he had to swim
out there and, you know, try to get it on the
tank. Well, he broke the brick off and he told me, he said, hey, go up and
find us a rock that I can replace him with. Well, when I'm going up to
the hill to find a rock, I hear
good splash. Like he fell, I fell in, he was already in the
water. So I run back and I said, what happened?
And he was white as the hair on your
beard, okay, and he said, you're not going to believe what just
come up behind me.
And I said, what?
He said, a catfish, a big op, and his head was just wide.
Well, look, he was just like he was talking about.
He was sitting there with his head down.
And when I sat like that, he just raised his head and he looked at Philip McBillan.
He said, he's stretching his size of him a little bit.
I said, oh, he's here then.
Yeah, he's here today.
Oh, it was, it was good times.
during the end to see the feel the feel come out because you would you'd get the little nods and the
the winks and the thing the little wry smile he wouldn't he wouldn't want to laugh per se but but he'd
give you or or he'd just look up with him eyes he'd just look at them eyes kind of look up at you
and give it just a little corner of his mouth would move and you know you know you got him
I'm the only one that laughs a lot oh man by even my brother were brothers or no one
But we are going to wrap it up.
We always wrap up with a verse.
I'll offer Mack if he's got one.
I mean, I know you got one.
I got one.
I got one.
You got one.
But Mac always has one.
Mac always has one.
This is Philippians chapter 1, 13 and 14, for he rescued us from the dominion of darkness,
rescued from the dominion of darkness, and brought us into the kingdom of the son he loves,
and whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of all our.
sins. Jesus Christ rescued us from everything bad we've ever done. And then he says, because of your
evil behavior, you're once my enemies, but now, oh, I love it when he says, but, but now, you are
holy in my sight. Now, I was called a lot of things in my past life. Holy wasn't one of them.
But now the creator of the cosmos and Phil's words would say, that's my holy son, Mac.
And now I presented him perfect to the father.
read Philippians chapter one. It'll be worth your while. Thank you so much, Mack. And thank the Lord
that Jesus is still in the search and rescue business. Amen. Thank the Lord for that. We'll see y'all
next time right here in the dump call room. We're out.
