Starting point is 00:00:26 Discover coffee plus on nispresso.com. I don't think about getting into overalls. Really? I don't have any shoes. What do you mean by getting into overalls? Like just having a pair? Owning a pair. It's like getting into overall sounds like you're like,
Starting point is 00:00:47 I'm trying to get into like a collection. You know what I mean? I think you got to start with one. Well, yeah, I mean, some people. I know people that don't. They just got all overalls. I literally have zero shoes that would go with overalls, though. What shoes go with overalls?
Starting point is 00:01:02 What shoes go with overalls? Whatever Mac Owen wears. Probably like red wings or like a thorough good boot. Lace up like hiking boots kind of or. Or boots that just slip on. Yeah, moxen crocs. Slip on. Crocs.
Starting point is 00:01:16 I owned a pair of crocs. Burkinstock's kind of go with overalls. But like I'm saying on the practicality standpoint of like doing stuff in overalls, let's say you're in the field or like gardening or something, probably not Birkenzox. But if you're just casually wearing overalls, I've seen people wear. Yeah, where you get me wearing overalls for? Yeah. Just for just fashion.
Starting point is 00:01:33 I mean, that would look kind of. Yeah. Well, if you're going to do it for fashion, I feel like you have to wear Gortex. See, I don't, oh, I do have some. Because you're working in the, if you just show up with some car heart,
Starting point is 00:01:44 tough knit overall, is it? Yeah. The church. Like just show up. Oh, the church, that's cool. I mean, it's whatever. I was thinking about it today. Anyways.
Starting point is 00:01:53 Would you go like one strap or two strap? One, for sure. Oh, with no shirt, like one nipple out? Maybe. Oh, that's crazy. You'd be great at nursing. Or both nipples. Welcome back to the,
Starting point is 00:02:04 Duck car. Ladies and gentlemen, we're laughing because we get weird right before the show starts. I'm keeping all that in. Okay, hey, throw it in there. We were talking about overalls and if or not, I should buy some.
Starting point is 00:02:15 Cy, have you got your duck stamp? Yeah. Yeah, because it's duck season. And it is duck season here, so we've been hunting. If you haven't got your duck stamp, head over to duckstamp. Because that's the easiest way to get it.
Starting point is 00:02:26 Sa, and the best part is it's always on your phone. All right, it's always on my phone. You don't have a phone. That's all the phone. Anyways. But we have John Luke and Jacob here. with us today. Martin's off somewhere. But this, there's
Starting point is 00:02:38 an excitement in the air because this is a big episode. Episode big. Yeah. There's an announcement we have. As of you. Because of me. Sa doesn't know. Why is this a big episode? Si, my salmon swam upstream.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Why would you say? Oh, your salmon swam upstream. You don't remember him saying that? Congratulations. Are you not here? I don't think I was here. Really? Or I panicked because y'all weren't telling anybody. and Zai was over there telling everybody.
Starting point is 00:03:06 Well, what is the fish fry? I'm losing on the metaphor, but about a week ago. The baby's fried enough. She's cooked enough. She's in the world now. Yeah, we had a little baby. There it is. I was like, I don't know that we're keeping up.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Yeah, yeah, no, no. I just thought that was funny. He said that on the show that my salmon wasn't swimming upstream, and I just always thought that was pretty funny. That's one way to say it. And what did we name the child? After your mother, Merritt, Merritt Presley, Mayo. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:41 I guess after your second name. I didn't know if my wife had asked me. Yeah, Merritt Presley. Okay. Uh-huh. Because she was... He's got Elvis in it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Merit Presley. Oh, yeah. Hey, I like it. That's after Preston, too, my dad. Well, hey, mom and baby are doing well. Yes, sir. They're good. They're at the house hanging out right now.
Starting point is 00:04:02 It's good. Well, tell you a while. I will. Yes, sir. That I had told her so, don't worry. Yeah, yeah. If you're meant to have kids, God will take care of that for you. It's true. He's been faithful.
Starting point is 00:04:14 That's good. He does. Uh-huh. Well, she's here now. Yep. So the reason why we named her merit, one, is because your mom was born, her and Bella shared the same birthday. So Bella was born on your mom's 88th birthday.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Okay. Uh-huh. She stayed with Corey two weeks after Bella was born. No, no. Because Battle was asked me, well, what was your granny like? And I said, Granny was a hoot. Uh-oh. We are going to pull up a few photos.
Starting point is 00:04:43 There you go, Sire you go, Sigh. There she is. There she is, the happy found. That is one of God's miracles that he gives to people. And now we have no idea what that young lady may grow up and become. No clue. So it was a pretty well-kept secret, by the way. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Like, y'all never announced this, this baby coming. And so now that she's here, how is it now that she's here? You're a new dad. You're a fresh dad. Fresh. Fresh. How old? What are you like seven days, eight days?
Starting point is 00:05:20 Yeah, a week today. A week today. Okay. What was your first stop when you saw that young lady? Saw that baby? Yeah. Start crying and told Bella she did great. that's all I thought
Starting point is 00:05:34 and she was beautiful I got me well because it's no words to explain it so I just was Bella was crying I started crying and just
Starting point is 00:05:45 I was just thankful that I was there in that moment like I don't know I just I'm not going to share the whole story on here I'll share like
Starting point is 00:05:54 her pregnancy because Bella wants to do that at some point me and her share a full story but I feel like at one point of my life at one point in my life
Starting point is 00:06:02 I didn't know, like I got to a point where I thought I might have to be okay with never having a kid. And I don't mean that as a Debbie Downer or anything. I just meant, like, that's where I was at. So I just was grateful in that moment to, like, be in that position. You know what I mean? Well, no, no, because when I first saw Tracer, my daughter. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Yeah. I just couldn't believe that I was a part of that. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, because it's so wild. It's crazy. And then especially, you know, when. after she's grown up and become the woman she is. Okay, because people said, hey, they switched babies in the hospital.
Starting point is 00:06:44 She's beautiful. You know, Tracy's beautiful and smart. You know, the old man, Chris said, where'd all that come from? Where'd all that come from? So, yep. Yeah, it was great. Honestly, I cried more right before Bella gave birth. than I did when I saw the baby.
Starting point is 00:07:05 I cried, but I cried more just being in that moment knowing that, like, this is about to happen. See, I've got 78 years of looking back, okay, that my mom and dad started seven kids, five boys, two girls, and then look what's become of it. Crazy. Insane.
Starting point is 00:07:28 Mm-hmm. I don't even think you could dream it up. people shares their life together and then, you know, the legacy that they leave behind is wow. Yep. Yep. So yeah, this one's been a long time coming, though. A lot of prayers, a lot of ups and downs. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:46 For sure. And like you said, I mean, I don't know what that would be. I never went through that. Well, here's what got me. When Lisa told me that Bella had had the baby. Oh, you did know? Oh, yeah. We didn't know that you knew.
Starting point is 00:08:01 We thought we were breaking news here. No, like it was put like two nights ago. I went to hours. Oh, you went and played Domino's. Yeah, played Domino's. And Lisa told me, and I said, wait a minute. I said, was it premature? And she said, no, it was like a week later, I think.
Starting point is 00:08:19 A week early. A week early. Yeah, yeah. And I said, it seems like just the other day I found out that, you know, she was pregnant again. Yeah. And I said, it's already been nine months? It is crazy. Time flies.
Starting point is 00:08:34 I was shocked. Time is flying by. Because I hadn't seen Bella lately. And then John Luke, we got done recording the other day. John Luke was like, oh, Bella had her baby. I said, excuse me, do what? Like, it hasn't. I said, are we good?
Starting point is 00:08:48 Because my mind goes to scary places. And I was like, are she, everything good? John Lewis is like, great. I'm going to hospital. I was like, thank God. Oh, yeah. I was in here recording whenever we got the text that she had the baby. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:00 Oh, man. It's so funny. What's you weight? It has six pounds and eight ounces. Got a lot of hair, too. Oh, yeah, full head of hair. It's kind of funny. So we've been to the hospital like probably four or five times just on some scares
Starting point is 00:09:16 and stuff for having some like early contractions. I feel like it's a normal first pregnancy thing kind of if you're nervous kids and just trying to figure it out. So a few times Bella had some high blood pressure or some, they call it Braxton Hicks contractions and we didn't know if she was going into labor or whatever. Braxton Hicks. Yeah, so we've been in the hospital a few times.
Starting point is 00:09:35 So the funny thing is this time when we had them, had the baby, not him, we were going in for a 39-week appointment. And we didn't think we were having the baby today. But Bella said on the way there, she said, God,
Starting point is 00:09:48 it would be just so nice because it was her birthday. I always betted her going to have the baby on her birthday, which was a week before her due date. Her due date was on September. Wait, did Bella had the baby on her birthday? He had the birthday, the baby on the birthday? She almost did. She had the next day.
Starting point is 00:10:01 Okay. Yeah. So I thought that would have been released. That's pretty wild. You were going to be broke in the month of September. Oh, I'm telling you. I still am. It's two days in a row, double whammy.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Yeah. Jacob, you're now the brand manager of duck commander. You're going hunting all the time. What's one of the best $25 investments that duck hunter can make? Buy a duck stamp. Hunters are always willing to invest in good shells, decoys, and the gear that helps make the day in the blind better. It's literally like your whole job. A federal duck stamp belongs right alongside all that
Starting point is 00:10:34 because it helps protect the places where those hunting memories happen. It's required for duck hunting anyways. And that $25 also goes towards conserving wetlands across America. Since 1934, duck stamp buyers have helped conserve more than 6 million acres of habitat and getting yours is easier than ever at duckstamp.com. Buy it online and carry the digital stamp right there on your phone throughout the entire season. then you can head straight to the blind and your collectible physical stamp will arrive
Starting point is 00:11:02 you can head straight to the blind and your collectible physical stamp will arrive later in the mail. We all hunt. We love duck hunting. The best way to keep duck hunting going is to buy your duck stamp and conserve all that land up above us so the ducks have a great spot to make little baby ducks and come down here so we can eat them. It's that simple. So 25 bucks may not buy much these days, but it still buys something that matters. Visit duckstamp.com to get yours today. That's Duckstamp.com. So we end up going up there. Her blood pressure goes down, and then
Starting point is 00:11:38 they do labs, and her protein was like 300 over of what it was supposed to be, which is a sign of preclampsia, which is high blood pressure. So you kind of had to have the baby so they induced her at like, I want to say like 130. I end up having the baby the next day. But it was a wild experience.
Starting point is 00:11:58 The wildest experience. I've been living with me, Bella and Corey, the last week, you know. Corey's still there? He's still there. That's a good thing. No, it is good. Oh, it's good.
Starting point is 00:12:10 That's great. It's been fun. So, Corey, it's always fun. I've been in the hospital a lot with Corey, with Bella, just different things. And so we always have a good time. It's pretty funny. She gets to see a little more inside of our marriage and life, which is. Yeah, Corey shows up.
Starting point is 00:12:24 Corey going to be there. Oh, yeah. That's awesome. Yeah, so we end up having that baby the next day. and I remember somebody was like, did you watch? I was like, yeah, I wanted to. But I was nervous at first when the doctor came in.
Starting point is 00:12:42 So I don't know if everybody knows what the deduction is. I guess y'all obviously do. So that I give the bell of medicine to progress longer. They end up popping her water at, I want to say, 9.30 in the morning and she had the baby by 250. Yeah, but she didn't dilate at all until about I want to say like 1150 1150. You watched the whole procedure?
Starting point is 00:13:05 Yeah, she pushed it out naturally. So it was, I watched the whole thing. I wouldn't be able to do that. Yeah. Well, I was... I did it once on the next two. It's like, I'm solid. Melo started feeling really bad at about nine centimeters.
Starting point is 00:13:20 Oh, no, I couldn't. And she was like... Women are tougher than us. Yeah, no, they really are. No, no, because I always get tickle when I... Oh, here of me. and anybody talking about the weaker sex. Come back into a real world way. I told him.
Starting point is 00:13:39 I was like, I thank God. They ain't the weaker sex. I'm glad I'm a dude. I was really thinking of me. If it wasn't for the woman, hey, we'd have been extinct a long time ago like the dodo bird.
Starting point is 00:13:49 The toughest thing I've ever been through in my life was just sleeping on that hospital bed next to Allison when she had babies. Because that, that was bad. No one talks about that. No one never gives us any credit. That's so funny. that thing is terrible
Starting point is 00:14:02 the best ones are like the recliners I never got one of those yeah I got the recliner well you gotta have five to yeah what your punch cards full that's the ad rules club I lived in that hospital
Starting point is 00:14:16 for about a month while they were trying to keep Carter in and I'd ever even got a recliner they just put us in a quarter and said y'all hold on oh it was fun it's fine it's all fun now
Starting point is 00:14:27 yeah Bella I got to like nine centennyers didn't feel good She's like, I don't think I can do this. Because she wanted to do it, like push them out. She didn't want to have a C-section. Nothing against C-sections. That's just what we wanted to do.
Starting point is 00:14:37 And I was like, ah, you got this. You can do this. Well, they came in there. And she started pushing, I want to say, like, 22 or 232. And we had the baby at 252. Wow. So you did really good. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:52 It was awesome. Like, it was the craziest thing. The doctor said during it, he's like, do you want to look? And I was like, I want to. But I don't get. weirded out or nasty usually, but I was like, I don't want to look, and then it ruined me being supportive for Bella, you know, and he's like, well, this is a great time to look. And I looked, and I was like, oh, that's nothing like what I thought.
Starting point is 00:15:12 And I say all this to say, Corey said I should share this. John Luke already knows what I'm about to say. He doesn't know what I'm about to say he might now. But for the longest time in my head, I conjured up if a woman was to push a baby out, that it was going to look like a Venus fly trap. The baby would just come out and it would. Yeah, yeah. It would just...
Starting point is 00:15:31 That would be a good analogy. Yeah, I told John Lake that at a hospital. I was like a whole, like a, like a, like a, like a, like a, like a, like a, like a, like a, like a water slide. Yeah, and just... Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I had no clue. Oh, young men.
Starting point is 00:15:46 If you're listening to this, the visual was a Venus fly trap. Oh, no, because I was sitting here thinking about, yeah, if all the stories of all the bursts and that they carry them and what happened during when they was carrying them. Because in my mind, I'm looking, my wife had a place of spaghetti on her belly. And it just goes flying across the room. And labor? No, because Tracer, she was at the house. It had a plate of spaghetti on her stomach. And, hey, it just, Tracy kicked it off.
Starting point is 00:16:20 It went flying across the room. Yeah. So I know that there's all kinds of wild stories. Oh, yeah. of women having babies and all the crazy stuff to happen. Yeah. And it, the old Venus flat trip.
Starting point is 00:16:35 Because I love, I love the analogy. Yeah. It was funny because everybody kept asking me if I looked. And so when I would tell them, that's the story I would tell them. It was like, it was just what I looked. Oh, you're expecting.
Starting point is 00:16:49 I watched the whole thing, the baby coming out and everything. And it was awesome. I did. But I thought that's what it would look like. I remember telling John Luke and two mama and Mary Kay in the waiting room. I was like, I really thought it was going to be like a Venus fly trap. Like I had no clue.
Starting point is 00:17:02 And when I looked, I was like, it wasn't that. Like, it was fine. It was not that big of a deal. Everybody's done it. Yeah. Every, well, not every. I guess there are C-sections. Most human beings, for a long time, it's the only way they came out.
Starting point is 00:17:15 I'm just one of those people, people were like, are you going to look? I was like, yeah, I plan on it. I don't think I'm not. And they're like, why? I'm just one of those people if I don't look, I would regret not looking. I looked in the mirror that's on the ceiling. Do they still got that? We didn't give birth in that kind of hotel.
Starting point is 00:17:32 They had like a mirror up there. And I'm back there behind us and I'm like, you got this, you got this. And I'm looking at the nurse. I'm like, she ain't got this on the first one. And so I'm like, you got this. And then I look up and then they told Allison, they're like, look in the mirror.
Starting point is 00:17:47 And she was like, oh my gosh, push harder. I feel that so much you're saying like, I got this. I've never been in the situation. And these doctors and nurses are coming in. they're like, all right, this is how you push. Like, you're going to breathe in. You know what I mean? And then we're going to do three of them on a contraction.
Starting point is 00:18:04 We're going to try to let the contraction pass as long as it can. So it'll push the baby down naturally. And then you'll push and da-da-da-da-da. I'm like, okay. And she's doing it. The first one, she was a beast. Like, she didn't even, she was just like pushing. And then like, I'm talking about no noises.
Starting point is 00:18:18 Like, she was doing awesome. But they were like, oh, you're doing so good. And I'm like, yeah, you're doing so good. But I'm like, they could be lying. Like, I have no clue. No idea how you're doing. You know what I'm saying? You have no clue.
Starting point is 00:18:28 They're like, yeah, you're doing good. I'm like, yeah, babe, you're doing good. But then we could be not progressing at all. I have no clue. No, but that's the dad's job. We have no clue. But that's why looking back, it's so funny because she really just did. So there was three pushes in a set.
Starting point is 00:18:43 She only did like eight sets and the baby was here. And I was like, that's great. Yeah, it was great. I have no idea. But it was so funny because I was like, yeah, you're doing good. Yeah. And then the doctor come in there. I didn't even know the baby was actually going to come out.
Starting point is 00:18:56 they come out fast and then he came out i was like oh my gosh once and then i was just like once you get that big old dome out the way they just yeah exactly and then the funny part is you're saying like you're doing so good that's i kept i feel so dumb but this is all i could say after the baby come out like oh my gosh well and then the baby's beautiful obviously but i was just crying like you did so good like i don't know what else to say like i was just crying like you did so good like i don't know what else to say i know that sounds dumb it doesn't sound dumb Way to do the hardest thing. The only person that thinks that's dumb is somebody that hasn't been standing behind their
Starting point is 00:19:31 wife totally helpless. Yeah. Good job. John Luke? Yeah, I watched them all. Yeah. John Luke's got like a whole roll of a day. From the side view.
Starting point is 00:19:42 What do you want to know? Yeah, John Luke, we got a first timer, we got a professional. One kid, two kids at one time. I mean, what do you want? Yeah. No, that first one was not what it was. The first one, I think, was the worst and not because I guess it was because it was not what I was expecting.
Starting point is 00:19:57 Exactly. And I didn't expect them to come out so, like, squished and, like, deformed and stuff and, like, with all the stuff on them. Right, right. Was that... I still feel bad. I got a good story here. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:08 I'm going to back you up on this because there's, Hunter over here who's never been in there, is laughing his butt off at squished and stuff. Oh, he's been in there. He just hadn't been in there since he was born. You know what I mean? Well, when Carter was born, like, there's excitement, but also terror and worry and all that. But I'm like, this...
Starting point is 00:20:26 We got two seconds with him. So I snap a photo and I'm like, I'm a dad now. I'm going to post this one. And looking back, I'm like, my bad, bro. That wasn't the best picture of you. But I straight said, here you go. And he's like looking like an alien. It was a bad deal.
Starting point is 00:20:41 I should probably go back and find that. They've got all the stuff on them. Oh, yeah. Like purple and like it's, yeah. Oh, okay. I lost my train of thought earlier when I was talking. Did I interrupt you? Well, no.
Starting point is 00:20:51 And then the last ones were because they were twins, so that was different. That's crazy. So the first one came out like normal And the second came out breach Which was like backwards And also like beat down Yeah they came up out Yeah she came out like a water slide
Starting point is 00:21:06 Beat down Face up And when she allowed that Oh it's recommended They did it Really? Not yeah they did it I'm not a doctor
Starting point is 00:21:17 No it was no it was actually an intense thing Which we didn't realize how intense it was Until at the end of it When one of the older nurses was like that was not a normal thing. That could have been terrible. But it just, in the moment, it had to happen for whatever.
Starting point is 00:21:31 Whatever reason, I'm not. Hey, you're not in charge. I'm not in charge. I wasn't in charge of that. But I watched it. But when she came out that... I wasn't in charge. That one was more intense, though.
Starting point is 00:21:41 When she gave me the scissors to, like, cut the umbellal cord, she was like, she did great. Cut, you know, cut the cord. And Francie looks like, I mean, she is like, holy purple, not breathing. And I'm like, it doesn't look so good. And my hands shaking. I'm trying to cut the thing.

Starting point is 00:23:30 But it was so weird. He, like, gave me I guess I didn't think about but he gave me this much of a barrier to cut. Oh, yeah, they're like... Yeah. So it's like, I cut this. It was kind of like I was in kindergarten.
Starting point is 00:23:42 He's like, here, cut this. But I don't try it right through here. Which I get. I'm not. I'm not well versed me. Like the arcade where you have to like cut the thing. I was last about 30 seconds. Were you not even in the room?
Starting point is 00:23:54 No. Oh, no. You weren't in the room? That's criminal. That's 1975. five what year was trace of one i ain't gonna last 30 seconds soon as i see that's fair yeah that's fair that's fair i'd be gone he'd be the problem yeah i'm serious all i would do is just i can see if sire was in there he put the gloves on say let me deliver this baby yeah no no no size out i was in the waiting
Starting point is 00:24:19 room so then did they i'll give you an example we took choices to his doctor because she stepped on a bone and her foot got infected well they had the long Lancet. Lancet. They just took a scaffold. I mean, I just swallowed up, pus, full of pus. Yeah. And when the doctor cut it,
Starting point is 00:24:39 yeah. Blood, blood started coming out and, you know, yell, crap. Like, Dad's on the floor. You were on the phone. You fell out? I passed out. He was admitted to the next room. No.
Starting point is 00:24:51 Yeah. Well, then they had to pick me up, take, take me out. So what happened back then? Like, did they? No, no. You were just in a war? There? What happened was she started having contractions,
Starting point is 00:25:05 and we went to the emergency room, and then they put her on a plane and doped her up and flew her to Austin, Texas. And I'm back here. Oh, so it was a bigger deal. Oh, yeah. It's like a merger. This is an emergency.
Starting point is 00:25:21 Yeah. So she, you know, Christine didn't need a plane. You so high, she could have flew over on what they put her on. That's why I asked you, what did you feel? Because I was just amazed and I was looking at, hey, I had a part in this. It's not much, but, you know. Enough.
Starting point is 00:25:41 Yeah. It's just crazy. I don't know. Break it down. Like, to go back to that, it's like we're humans. And we're, so it's like, just like everything else procreates, we do. So it was just like a feeling, you know, I don't know. I was feeling, like, I mean, it just feels like primal almost in a way.
Starting point is 00:25:55 It's just like, I cannot believe that. Say. God, like, made us. Well, no, no. And then my wife just grew a child for nine months. I don't have any clue what she looks like. And I just saw her come out and this is what she looks like. And it's just like, oh, my, like this is the most beautiful thing that kid ever had.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Oh, no. You're going to just be amazed all the time. Yeah. As she goes through stages. Also in that moment, I think I felt like the weight of like having a child too. That's a scary one. It's like a good weight, though. But it's just like, I'm obviously keep God first relationship and he's sovereign and the whole nine yards.
Starting point is 00:26:35 But then I'm his direct, you know, I have to raise up this child. That's what I mean. When we had Tracer, I looked up and said, now what do I do, Lord? Yeah. It's just funny now to think about time flies and I thought about like after she was born. Like one thing I thought I was like, she's going to get. She's probably going to get married one day. I need to be, you know, raising her up in that way, like for a husband.
Starting point is 00:27:02 I need to start praying for a husband for her, you know. The best thing you can do. Just all these things is crazy. The best thing you can do for a marriage is love your wife and from that child every day of your life. I agree for sure. So that then she'll have no doubt about, yeah, she'll be looking for a mate. I felt that same way whenever I had my first one, like, my whole perspective changed on life. Right.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Yeah, it's crazy. Yeah. Well, now. I literally... Here's the time, you ain't got no choice in us. Now you're a role model. Mm-hmm. Whether you want to be or not.
Starting point is 00:27:39 No, yeah. Definitely. After my first one, like, my whole personality changed. Like, it was just the wildest. Because I was the guy that was like, I was so competitive at everything, and I would fight people in church league softball games just for fun. I was that guy.
Starting point is 00:27:57 Oh, I hate those dudes. Hey. Every team needs a Draymond Green on it. And, like, I was just like, we were always... Would you say you were a fighter or would you... No, no, I didn't fight anybody. Like, you just get mad. No, no, I didn't fight anybody. My goal was to get somebody to fight me. Oh.
Starting point is 00:28:14 I was running my mouth, shockingly. Oh, okay. And I was like, I don't really want to be that guy. What are you all? Like, and so then, like, this, like, oh, man, every time somebody asked me, like, what was the biggest moment of your life? I'm like, I love Allison, not when we got married. I was still a kid. That first kid pops out and you got responsibilities that you never even thought of.
Starting point is 00:28:37 Yeah. That's when everything changed for me. Well, if you get married and then have a child and like y'all that watched the procedure, that's got to give you a, she's going through all of that to have that child. And y'all went through more than most. I know you said you wanted to wait for Bella to tell that story. Oh, for sure. But like.
Starting point is 00:29:02 Yeah, like you're saying, it's like looking at Bella now, like she grew that child and then also push the child out. And it's, it's incredible. Oh, no, a child having a child. It's incredible. Oh, no. There's nothing like. Well, that's why I tell you, the only thing you've got to do is raise your young daughter. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:22 And let her see you love your mother. Yeah, for sure. Because that's all I remember about my childhood growing up is what my mom and dad had. Right. Because daddy never left the house. If he did, if he did, I forgot, mom would remind him. Are you forgetting something, James? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:48 James. You feel as an example. But he said, hey, when I watch my child being born. He said, I got a different perspective on my wife then. Oh, yeah. They're tough. What they go through to carry the child, to carry him for nine months, you know, and then to put up with him changing diapers this, this, that, this, just.
Starting point is 00:30:13 Then praying for him his whole life or her whole life. Right, right. Every time they leave when they're teenagers. Yeah. Yeah. How's that first diaper change? It was good. I had to psych myself up to do the poo for.
Starting point is 00:30:26 Did you get there, though? Yeah, I've changed like three. There we go. Nice. Three dumps already? She's had mega amounts of dumps. Mega dumps. Mega dumps.
Starting point is 00:30:37 I know Bella said they're different every time. Every time they change color. She's almost got Roy G. Biv down. You remember that? Well, this is for Bella. Bela, Uncle Si said the, you know what I'm talking about? Said the magic word that she's been wanting to hear. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:54 How is mom doing? Oh, she's doing great. She's awesome. Honestly, that's what I'm saying. She's so tough. I was going to say this earlier. I was really thinking of me when he was choosing, you know, male or female. Because if I was a female, ain't no way.
Starting point is 00:31:10 I'd have to be wired, which I guess I would be so different because I couldn't imagine. You would be. I couldn't imagine. I do have one worry about Bella's motherhood because I've known Bella a long time. And it's bad news for you. She's the hardest sleeper I've ever met in my life. Oh, yeah. Is she waking up in the night or?
Starting point is 00:31:31 Yeah, so Corey's been staying with us. So I feel like we're really going to get a good fun time going once she goes home. Yeah. But I'm a light sleeper. So you're okay, good. Yeah. I'm like, you're going to become a more. You're in trouble, buddy.
Starting point is 00:31:44 She's going to be like, get him. Or she won't even. She doesn't have to. I just wake up. There we go. I already wake up every night, like anywhere from three to five times in the night. I think that's a different podcast, but are you okay? Yeah, I'm okay.
Starting point is 00:31:59 I'm just a light sleeper. I don't know. I have no problem like going back to sleep. I usually have to pee once or twice every night. And then I just wake up. I don't know why. I just do. I just started doing that.
Starting point is 00:32:10 That's actually good for Bella because I was, I'm the opposite. I'm such a hard sleeper. I slept through everything. I never work up for her. Are all y'all like that? I think so. Is it just because of how y'all grew up with just people in and out of the house? You're like, I've got to sleep.
Starting point is 00:32:24 I've got to learn that. That's one thing is that the Robinson family, most of them, you know, it's always somebody else in their house. Especially when I was a kid. There's late night poker games multiple times a week. Oh, yeah. Me and Phil, we were talking about that yesterday, all the guys playing poker in our house. Yeah, so Bella had to learn how to sleep.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Yeah. Otherwise, she would never have got to. You just never got me here. You want to know something about having a baby? Starting point is 00:34:00 Join at RocketMoney.com slash. That's rocketmoney.com slash rocketmoney.com slash. I'd say this, Bella doesn't snore, but like a side effect, I think of pregnancy later on, they start snoring, the women. Bella snores now? Oh, yeah. And so I can't wait for that to go away. Last night she fell asleep
Starting point is 00:34:25 Bella fell asleep We were watching TV show And the baby was asleep And she was just Well they probably will get more More quirks Yeah They probably will get more quirks
Starting point is 00:34:36 Oh yeah That's not a big deal Well y'all made it out of the house Because I saw you at mom and dad's yesterday Oh yeah Bella went to lunch yesterday Her We're venturing out
Starting point is 00:34:45 Nice Oh yeah Change of scenery That's a big movement I feel like after pregnancy When you have a kid You just start If you didn't take pictures before
Starting point is 00:34:51 Now you just start Take pictures everywhere where they went to eat at salad station. It's like, oh, take a picture in front of the station with the baby. Pumping gas. Oh, first time pumping gas with the baby. Everything you do with the baby. First time taking a dump while having a baby.
Starting point is 00:35:08 She's going to breastfeed her or not? Oh, yeah. She's been breastfeeding her. And it honestly went really well. Everything. I was a big believer in breast milk. It's like a doctor on it. It's actually nothing except for the smell.
Starting point is 00:35:22 No, it ain't. It's a lot to it. Talking about breastfeeding is a great topic, even though we're all men here. I'd love for the duck call room and us four dudes to cover breastfeeding. I'm against it. I'm going to take that state. Why not? Well, you're an idiot.
Starting point is 00:35:37 Somebody's got to take the stance. All three of my kids are four-bill babies. That's why they're so weird. Look, number one, okay, her bowel movement. If you have, what is the, you know, no. Hey, I'm just going to be honest. They're not breast milk, but the stuff they fix up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:58 Formula? It stinks like high heaven. Bres fed babies. Hey, their poop don't smell bad. Hey, here's the thing, though. As a man who's, I've changed hundreds of formula diapers and don't none of it compare to that nasty 12-year-old boy I got now. And if you walk past the bathroom after he does something in there, you about get knocked over.
Starting point is 00:36:18 Well, I'm just saying. So it don't really matter. The smell never leave. I call you one breastfed. The thing I was going to say about breastfeeding, other than what we're talking about here, is just Bella was telling me today how in the morning, this is just from Bella, so I could be totally wrong, so I don't know. But Bella told me this morning that, like, your breastfeeding the milk in the morning
Starting point is 00:36:38 will be to have caffeine in it, and in the evening it'll have melatonin in it. Like your body will produce that. No, no. So, that's not true. No, no. Yeah, Brittany's over here. We have sure. In the room.
Starting point is 00:36:50 Is it not crazy? Is that not wild? No, no, that's another thing about God and his creation. That's what I'm saying. That's insane. Yeah. That's wild. You know, when God made a woman, he made something.
Starting point is 00:37:04 I'm talking about that. He made some out. He made some out that rib. No, no. Hey, that was, in my opinion, home of your opinion, that's the best thing he's ever created. Hey. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:15 Because just think about it, she can carry a baby. And then her body produces milk. Yeah. Okay. to feed the child, okay, to help with the immune system, all this, y'all. And then people look at this and just say, I can't, I can't see this God you're always talking about, you know, Uncle Sy. Well, you're an idiot in my book. I'm going to say this, and this is the only thing I have to compare it, but this might be the most sexist thing ever.
Starting point is 00:37:42 So, Hunter, you can cut this out. Nope, it's staying. Like having kids, like women, like, it's like they're like a workhorse. Like God created them to provide. everything for that kid and they'll be okay. It's insane. Yeah, we'll clip that. Workhorse women. Women are a workhorse. No, I'm saying having the kid like you grow the kid. Oh, no. Hey, see, he didn't describe this properly. It's, hey, he nailed it. This is the greatest workhorses ever to be created. Yeah, this is secretariat. Yeah. I'm talking
Starting point is 00:38:15 Clydesdale. This is, hey, look. You get you a long line of women. It's just like the Budweiser horses. Hey, this is the top of the line, buddy. Yeah. Okay. I'm in. It's crazy how God made it naturally where they can provide everything for that child. That's insane. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Tell mom. Okay. Because that's what about I wanted to hear. Yeah. He's a mom now. Yeah. It's crazy. Hey, and to that, to that, there's no one.
Starting point is 00:38:44 The only person that beats mom is Jesus Christ himself. That's true. Yeah. I'm serious. Jesus. I'm serious. Yeah. Talking about a carpenter here, people.
Starting point is 00:38:54 Yeah. No, and it's really awesome because to Bella, before we even walk through our infertility and everything, Bella told me, and like we talked about before we got married, like her life goal, she wanted to be a mom. Well, no, no. That's another thing, too. That's why I said that because she lost a child. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:16 And y'all tried for a very long time. For those that don't know. And to me, I can't even imagine. Yeah. Because she carried it for a while. Yeah. Okay. She lost part of herself for crying out loud.
Starting point is 00:39:32 Right. You know, that's why I told, hey, congratulations, mom. Yeah, for sure. Okay. Because, hey, that's what Bella's been wanting. Yeah. What she's been wanting. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:39:45 She told me. She told me the other day, she said, like, about, I guess Mary was about five days old. She said, you know, I could do it again. I said, well, Lord willing. We went to the hospital a few times with the early Braxton Hick stuff, and this lady came in. It was like 3 a.m.
Starting point is 00:40:03 They were just checking bell every hour, checking her contractions. And then before you'd have to leave, they would do this ultrasound thing, and they'd have this little test to give the baby a score. I think the score was like, either get a two or a zero. There's no in between or whatever. I don't know why was that. We're for the show. The girl was ultrasound and Bella,
Starting point is 00:40:21 and it'd been about 10 minutes or so. She just goes. Oh, my God. And we're all like, You can't say that. What? Yeah, and I'm like, I would have crap my pants.
Starting point is 00:40:33 We were like, oh my gosh, what's wrong? She's like, I don't know if I'm crazy. This baby might have the most hair that I've ever seen on an ultrasound. And so I say that to say, when the baby came out and he told me to look, I don't have any clue what she was going to look like, and she just had a full head of black hair. And I was like, oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:40:57 She had some hair. He had some hair. Yeah, y'all have matching haircuts. I'm telling you. She has actually. That's all but cut junior. And hey, that's something crazy right there too. Some of them don't have it.
Starting point is 00:41:06 Some of them just have a, you know. I'm out look, got a wig on their head. You know, we're just full. Yeah, Bella had a full head where she was born and I did too. And so. And she looks like both of y'all. Yeah. We have similar features, so it's cool.
Starting point is 00:41:23 It's awesome. I hope she doesn't look like me. I always tell people that she's a girl. I hope she looks like Bella because Bella's pretty and I'm a man and I don't want her built like me. But who knows? You know, it's all in God's design. I'm going to love her anyway.
Starting point is 00:41:35 Even if she looks like you. Even if she looks like me. Even if she's a little homely, that's all right. Yeah, yeah. If she looks a little crazy. I don't let that bother you. It's not. Because I'm telling you.
Starting point is 00:41:46 I prefer a lot of people. You'll wake up one morning and look and say, good, hey, where did you go from? Out of my mother's womb. Oh, yes, y'all. So she's, Bella's already like, hey, we can do this again. That's the craziest part to me. She said, I'd mess with her and really exaggerated it.
Starting point is 00:42:06 I was like, oh, yeah. I told her mom, was like, Bella said we could do this again. But Bella was like, I said that, like, I could, like looking at the baby, I want to do this again. Give us some time. I've had different women tell me that whenever the nurse brings the baby in for the first time that the mom hold them, they forget everything that they went through. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:30 When they get them in a hand and look at it. Because really, when you think about it, you're holding a miracle. She's holding a miracle. Oh, yeah. That's the way I look at. You know, she's holding a miracle that came from her own body. Yeah. John Luke,
Starting point is 00:42:49 y'all ready for six, seven, and eight? No. Oh, no. The next ones could be triplets. Could be. We could go for six, but go for six and seven. See, you're like,
Starting point is 00:43:02 six, no big deal, but seven, that's where you draw the line. I would forget some of my kids' names if I had five of them. Really? Probably.
Starting point is 00:43:10 You'll get your memory checked out. I have enough. I was three. I'm like fighting all the time. I would give you, Hey, watch out is all I will tell you. Because Barry and Kate loves being the bomb. He does.
Starting point is 00:43:22 I'm serious. I'm serious. Maybe the most important question of the day, and maybe the most unfortunate question of the day, has Willie hung a nickname on this child yet? Yes. Already? Uh-huh. Well, I feel like he's testing it out. I kind of have a nickname for it, too.
Starting point is 00:43:42 But he, so Parker, it works here. my good friends he manages buck commander has a little baby girl their second one and she has so much hair she's creeping up on a year old i want to say and he calls her chaka off of land of the lost chaka chaka look up chaka this is a criminal nickname too chaka land of the lost uh i'm surprised he calls her chaka because of the hair like harry and the henderson book about her if you haven't seen this movie, which I haven't. And so when Willie found out that girl said that was the most hair she's ever seen on an ultrasound, he calls Merit Chaka Khan, Queen of the Chakas.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Chalker Khan, Queen of the Chocolate. Which is so weird. It's so funny. But I started calling her today. I mean, I still call her Chaka because I think it's funny. Chaka Khan. I'll call her like Mare Bear too. I mean, that's just a simple name.
Starting point is 00:44:41 But I call her, I'm either going to call her lambie or goat because when she gets really mad, she starts going, eh, like you start babbling, like, a sound like a goat. Yeah, it sounds just like it. When she gets really mad, like she'll cry and everything, but then she'll start like echoing her little cry. This message is sponsored by Raycon. Starting point is 00:46:26 I knew I was in trouble with mom when she used my phone name yeah Thomas Matt Robertson yeah yeah Lottie got hung with Bird because I've having it I've had it now when she started eating Allison would like
Starting point is 00:46:42 cut the food up so small so me and the boys would make fun of her I was like oh just a little bird eat and I was like you don't have to cut it that small surely and then Bird has hung with her for the next six years. So I don't think I'll ever stop calling. I'll say another sweet moment just with our story and everything and having the baby was,
Starting point is 00:47:02 I remember just some times going through it with Bella. An awesome thing is all of our grandparents and great grandparents, you know, we missed pap off feel, you know, to have a kid. But everybody else was there to like see the baby. So it was two mama's, I don't want to say 16th great grandchild. And it was my grandparents' tent. And so we just, another moment where we all dream, like, me and Bella, were like, I just hope whenever God's time it is, whatever it is.
Starting point is 00:47:32 And if it's not, it's okay. But I just want my grandparents to hold my child, you know, just to have that memory. Oh, no, no. And they got to hold them there in the hospital. And it was just really sweet. And Mamal Joe, how old is Mamal Joe? Ninety- Yeah, 94, 94, 95. She's over 90.
Starting point is 00:47:50 Yeah. We can say that one safely. She's sharp, too. Oh, yeah. But she was there, got to hold the baby, and it was just like something. It was just like a dream come true. It was just awesome. So it was a sweet moment in the hospital.
Starting point is 00:48:01 Wait, Matt Moll Joe would be the great, great grandmother of Merritt. She's the great, great. She'd be the same as Granny. Right? No, no, she's step down from Granny. That's Shackleford side, you got the whole family tree and like genealogy right there still living. Yep, yep. Which is awesome.
Starting point is 00:48:19 And that's, which is, and that's important. Oh, yeah. Your grandparents, you know, they have time to get to child something there. They won't find anywhere else. No, I saw this thing the other day talking about grandparents and talking about this new generation and stuff and just the pros of grandparents. And I really resonated with this because I grew up my grandparents. We had a bunch, they had a bunch of grandkids.
Starting point is 00:48:43 It's like grandparents like took this job teaching kids how to talk. I feel like I learned how to really talk. to people hanging out with my grandparents. Well, they took time. Yeah, and they, that's what they do. All old people I know, and I don't mean old. I just mean there's a description. Well, no, no.
Starting point is 00:48:58 They talk. They're really good talkers. It is old. They are old, but there's so much, you know, young people don't understand. If you have the chance to talk to your grandparents, you can get stuff from them because they've went through stuff. Yeah. And they're just so good at communicating.
Starting point is 00:49:18 So my grandpa, he's a big extrovert. And he just told me before, if he could, like, COVID, when COVID happened, he was like, if I couldn't talk to people, I don't know how I could go on. Like, they live for interacting with people and just love to interact. I'm how Grandpa talks to everybody. It doesn't matter. That's why they were the call the greatest generation. Yeah. Okay. Back in them days, just there wasn't on such thing as a stranger. No, it's not.
Starting point is 00:49:45 You know, my mother, we'll come up on a hobo, okay, and mom would tell the kids, okay, you'll wake him up gently and bring him to the house. What? How old were y'all? No, no, hi, 10, 12 years old? We could not trust Benz and Carter to bring a hobo to my house. No, no. Look, as soon as this guy comes up there, you know, he looked like.
Starting point is 00:50:15 He's 150 years old. Dirty clothes, the knees of shave, needs a haircut, stinks, you know. And as soon as he gets, we get him in the house,
Starting point is 00:50:26 she jumps on him with both feet. Get in that bathroom. There's soap washing, you know, take a bath, and then I'm going to hear my husband's razor, shaves that beard off. Then I'm going to sit you down,
Starting point is 00:50:39 I'm going to cut your hair. And then I'm going to tell you, hey, I'm going to feed you. And then I'm going to send you to my brother. And if you don't report to him, I'll hunt you down like a dog. Yeah. And some of the people that she's done that, too, become pillars of the community. That's what we call transformation.
Starting point is 00:50:58 There you go. No, no, but it's scared to hell out of us. You know, I'm serious. I was saying. No, no, I'm serious. I was hoping you were going to say that at some point. No, no, I'm serious. But it was scary having hobos.
Starting point is 00:51:09 I mean, I know meth's not as probably about it. It was. We didn't tell her to say, Mom, I could be a murderer. That's what I was thinking. She said, hey, go wake him up gently and bring him here. Yes, ma'am. Yeah, just, you know. Times were different back then.
Starting point is 00:51:26 I'm telling you. Wasn't even in the room, whatever the child was born. Yeah, that's crazy. Waking up hobos. There was always. Shearing Razors. And most of the Robertson. That's the part.
Starting point is 00:51:39 That's where he crossed the line there. You know, most of the Robertson kids just, they did what mama and Daddy did. Yeah. There's always somebody at your house. Yeah. The hospitality thing is just, I guess it's what we do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:57 Yeah. It's good kids to learn, like, what you do, do what you do with them. I think it's a great way for them to grow up and understand how things go. I guess I'm about to find out, but I think that's a good thing. It's a great thing. They can just go over to their Uncle John Luke's house and get some honey. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:13 The Bill's character. Maybe they get stung and they'll live. learn the lesson, you know, don't get a stone. Well, that's like if you tell a child, you know, you got an oven there that's hot. Yeah. If you could either let him touch it and burn himself and he'll learn from that. Or you can say, hey, no, hot, no. Hey, if he's hard-headed like most of us are.
Starting point is 00:52:36 Don't touch it. Yep. Yeah. Why didn't you tell me? I did tell you, dummy. There's two ways to learn. You learn from other people's mistakes? or you tried out yourself.
Starting point is 00:52:47 That's right. Learn from your own. That's what I meant about getting stoned. I would rather watch somebody touch it and stuff out works to. I don't know how she's going to be. She might be like, oh, let me touch that stove even if I tell her no. She will be, hey, she will be what you make her. Well, if she's anything like me and they say that your kids repay you for all the stuff you did as a kid,
Starting point is 00:53:10 y'all just pray for me. Oh, yeah. You see it. You see, you see 100. You see when they're acting like Allison and you see when they're acting like me. I prefer them to act like me because it's more fun, but they often act like Allison. Yeah. I was a little grambling for sure.
Starting point is 00:53:27 I was the youngest of all my cousins until I was like 10. Well, that's one of the... Those are a problem. That's one of the highlights of being a parrot. Yeah. Because you get to watch them go through all these ages. Mm-hmm. And then when you
Starting point is 00:53:45 You know It's like when we would My daughter and the son would go to other people's houses You know We'll see the parents of them And they said oh your children are so well behaved And I said you're talking to me You got you you made a mistake
Starting point is 00:54:05 It wasn't my kids And I said oh yeah It was Tracy and Scott I said don't Not if they're well behaved Yeah No, no. That's because they're comfortable at home.
Starting point is 00:54:16 That's what I keep telling my son. No, no, because you don't, you know, they never do good stuff around the house. It's always, you know. They act like them. They act like a bunch of heathens around the house. Yeah. You. Everybody thinks lot of them.
Starting point is 00:54:27 With everybody else, they act real decent, you know. Right. Terrorist. Yeah. But that's, that's your training. Right. Yeah. What you give them.
Starting point is 00:54:36 For sure. We're supposed to, we're interested in raising them up. Oh, man. It's like today's Bible verse might talk about that. Uh-oh. are we ready for that? Yeah, because it's 57 minutes. For the Bible verse of the day?
Starting point is 00:54:49 And I've enjoyed this immensely. Well, Jacob, we're super happy for you. I can't wait for Bella to tell the whole story. I'm sure that'll come up on a little podcast called like, Whoa, that's good or something. Yeah, maybe. Or I'd love to claim it. If she'd like to come in here when she's ready and do it in the duck call room, we're for that.
Starting point is 00:55:04 Yeah, we're excited. Well, Paul, what are we going to have Bella and the child on? She ain't, uh-huh. Well, the invite is open, but whenever that story does, y'all get to tell it together. Trust me, look for it wherever it is because it's going to be, you might cry. Who knows? Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised. I was kind of hoping you'd try to that.
Starting point is 00:55:29 Well, don't worry about it. You know, the people say, have grown men don't cry? Oh, yeah. Me and size set these two chairs cried together all the time. A good man does cry. Hey, I'm secure in my sexuality. I don't really care. I got a good woman at a home and a baby. I don't really care. There it is. Well, on that note, you're a new dad. So the new dad always gets the easiest first forever for new dads.
Starting point is 00:55:57 Proverbs 226, train up a child in the way she should go. Even when she is old, she will not depart from it. Merritt's got nothing but success written all over, and she's going to live a long, healthy, beautiful life. And I can't wait to just be the weird cousin over on the corner. And again, congratulations, dad and mom. Mostly mom.
