Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome back to the Duck Call Room. A special morning edition of the Duck Call Room. Morning edition. Which are actually my favorite ones because Beth brings chicken biscuits. So we have to record in the morning. I've been up since four, which is wild for me. I just woke up. And I was like, what am I going to do?
Starting point is 00:00:23 Well, good for you. But I didn't eat the chicken biscuit. I need to lose a little weight. And you know I'm on in factory meals. Yeah. Well, they're good. And look, I've already got my jalapinia lime cheddar chicken sitting. Waiting for me back at work.
Starting point is 00:00:36 I'm going to eat that for lunch. Not going to do that. Even though it is the Lord's chicken, I'm not eating that. I'm eating a Factor meal. Yeah, I'll do it every day. Well, good. I'm going to warm up my spicy Poblano beef bowl.
Starting point is 00:00:45 Call it good. But look, with Factor, you can skip the extra trip to the grocery store and the chopping, prepping, and clean up too. While still getting the flavor and nutritional quality you need, you can get 50% off with code Duck 50 at FactorMeals. com slash Duck 50. Give it a whirl.
Starting point is 00:00:59 It's awesome. You'll be glad you did. Do it. Do it. Do it. But this is a breakfast episode. It is breakfast. Yeah, I don't know why I woke up so early.
Starting point is 00:01:07 When's the last time you woke up at 4 o'clock for anything? I've been doing it a lot lately. I like go to bed early. I'm waking. I don't know. Wow, it's almost like you're an adult. It's uncomfortable. Yeah, it's crazy.
Starting point is 00:01:17 I was like you. Like you have. I mean, I woke up this morning. I got a lot of read some Bible, read a little Corinthians, then went and did some other stuff, got some stuff done, got breakfast made for my children, got out the door. Put a brand new shirt on? Put a brand new shirt on. I went, size, I spilled his chicken biscuit on his shirt.
Starting point is 00:01:34 So, I mean, if you're watching this, like, Good grief. That's cheese kind of fella. Some are sloppy, boys. Hey, bro. Whatever it was, it was really good. Because I got it all over me. And it missed the beard.
Starting point is 00:01:49 Yeah. And that wasn't from this morning either. Like, as the first, as closest to the pen here, that's not. That's been there for a minute. That's what happens when you get in a rush, boys. Oh, I love it. Early mornings, unless it's duck cutting, early mornings ain't Cy Roberts's thing. Let's not kid ourselves. If it is duck cutting, are they?
Starting point is 00:02:12 But, look, you know, last episode we talked a little bit about the blind. The blind! Corey Willie and Zach produced the movie and this really the family's true story. The hard stuff, good stuff, and all the stuff in between. Look, they didn't sign the rights way to a big studio. This is all independent. They poured their blood, sweat, and tears in it themselves. So it needs a little help on making sure it gets enough theater's books.
Starting point is 00:02:33 So we have a little inside information. Apparently there are theaters that think the independent movie like The Blind won't sell as many tickets as a Hollywood movie. We have nothing against big budget movies because they're good and they're fun to watch. But we want everyone to do well. But this movie The Blind is really going to change people's lives and we want to show the entertainment industry that there's an audience for this kind of movie. So what we need you to do is go buy your tickets right now for release on September 28th.
Starting point is 00:02:56 And if you know someone who needs to hear that it's not too late to turn their life around, take them with you. Take them with you. Theaters are in the process of making their final decisions right now about whether to show the blinds. So we need you to go to the blindmovie.com and buy your tickets today. And you, look, look at that guy. Oh, but look at that Mallardrake. Oh, look, I shot.
Starting point is 00:03:17 I'm not you. Yeah. Allegedly. He said, hey, he nailed them. Look, I'm just glad that my face didn't have to be in the movie, but that my ducks were. So that makes me. I prefer my face to be in the movie. Let's be honest.
Starting point is 00:03:29 That makes me happy. My ducks weren't going to be in the movie. Hold on. Look, look. There's Si. That's a young sigh right there. But it is interesting. And like yesterday we did a deal for our camo partners at RealTree. And, you know, kind of like Sai was a little tardy this morning, Phil was mega late yesterday. What was he doing? I pulled a Phil on you all this morning. Yeah. But the difference is, like, we know you loved us late and it's not hunting season. Phil Robertson has never once been late for anything. I've known him for,
Starting point is 00:04:02 almost 20 years now. Yeah. I've never waited on Phil Robertson for anything. What's he doing? And he don't wait on you. He says, I'll give you a man a minute, you know. He said,
Starting point is 00:04:14 I might wait like, oh, a minute. Yeah. But if you, I said five o'clock, you better be there at five or I'm gone. And not be there at five.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Yeah. Ready to go at five. Because he's gone at 10 till five. Yeah. Yeah. And it's, but no, it was,
Starting point is 00:04:30 he just was sleeping. he was just sleeping and what's funny and sigh was supposed to show up at 10 he was there at 915 no they got there at the exact same time Phil was supposed to bear at 9. He showed up at 945
Starting point is 00:04:44 Sai was supposed to bear at 10 he showed up like 943 saw beat him by about two minutes saw that military time now but it was he's mad at him for but it was fun because you don't get the opportunity I mean we do duck hunting a lot but these you know two guys
Starting point is 00:05:00 two brothers that have done everything in the duck-hutting world had to offer got to sit down and just kind of wrap about duck hunting a little bit it was I was actually glad to be like a fly on the wall in there I mean as many times as I get to see it I try to not take them for granted but when you hear Phil inside talk about the crap they used to do duck hunting I mean as mad as I've ever been at him I ain't ever been as mad as them two boys were at them I can tell you that right now they're talking about building a blind 70 foot up in a tree uh-uh nope nope not happening Hey, that would sleep four men comfortably. Yeah, comfortably.
Starting point is 00:05:35 We would go in there like if it was open Saturday, we would go in Friday night. And stay till Monday morning. And stay till Monday morning. I mean, that's crazy. All weekend, never come down. We'd eat steak, whatever, you know. That's mad.
Starting point is 00:05:52 That's cool. Was that fun? Absolutely. Look, here's the thing. This is built in the high. cypress tree in the swamp. Nope. And it was in the tip top.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Nope. Okay, it was a hotel. It was like a space. It was like the restaurant on the space name. No, no, I'm serious. Yeah. It was like downtown New Orleans and one of the circles. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:17 It was like that. The coolest thing that ever happened to be in that blind. I went in there. We've done the same thing. Went in there Friday. Trimbed up in it. And, you know, Saturday morning, okay, there was fog. well okay look that blind was above the fog
Starting point is 00:06:34 that's how high they were that's how high look I'm serious look and I look over there and here comes 25 wood duck and they didn't look like they were flying they looked like they was just floating okay just above the just the blubbs just fogg trying to figure out where they were at
Starting point is 00:06:53 yeah hey that we just all way up yeah pay off pay all three times I have many questions. How do you get in that blind? Homemade ladder. Homemade ladder. 14 foot. Okay, look.
Starting point is 00:07:07 14 foot sections. 14 foot sections. And we like the lost demand building it. Okay, because look, we put three ladders up, y'all, and we was tired, yeah. And it was lunch time. So we ate lunch, and we had just set the fourth ladder up, and we didn't bolt it down. So Maurice Greer, and this guy weighs about 275. he played football with Phil.
Starting point is 00:07:31 He was a car. He said he's a tight end or whatever. Yeah, tight end. I always wanted a line because he was so big. But anyway, him and Tommy, you know, Maurice was up, first man up. Tommy was under him. And they was going and he, Marishe grabbed it. And look, he was going back with the ladder.
Starting point is 00:07:50 And look, hey, this is a ladder made out of tuba sixes. Heavy. Heavy. Okay. Tube six is a nails. Yeah. Yeah, treated lumber, okay. Look, he starts falling back.
Starting point is 00:08:03 Tommy just put his shoulder in his rear end, and for about, oh, a minute, it was, uh-oh. Balance and I. Yeah, it was just like this, and then he finally done like that, you know, and because if he'd have failed, hey, all it is under that Cypress tree, Cypress me stick him up.
Starting point is 00:08:22 And what Si, what Si, I ain't telling is, if you don't know Tommy, Tommy was like a safety on the football team. He wasn't a big fella. Yeah, he wasn't a big fella. But strong. That old rat, I mean, for me knowing him as an old man. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:34 Strong as an old man. I hate that this podcast wasn't around when Tommy was still in the house. And a workaholic. Oh, yeah. Work circles around anybody. Workaholic, you know. He did it to the day he died. And I can tell you this right now, he's up there in heaven.
Starting point is 00:08:51 And Jesus doesn't put him on a construction crew at his mansion. Like, he just steady working. He ain't going to sit there. Tommy, the word relax wasn't in Tommy Wrightson's vocabulary. They should have put this blind in the movie The Blind. Yeah, I'd like to see them. I'd like to see them cats climb up. I was one of them cats and we wouldn't.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Hey, they should have. But someone, I won't mention them. Hey, burn them. The U.S. fishing wildlife. Yeah. Burn them, the one and B break. I got a picture of it. Okay, and then burnt the one in Ball Lake.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Is it bussy? No, it was off the river Up there north of hell And Marion H-A-I-L-E, not H-A-L-A-L-A. I say I wouldn't have got in it But I mean, I would have I'd had a lot of ropes
Starting point is 00:09:38 I would have been way safer than your boy Over here Yeah I would have had to have seen what it was like up I'd have needed 400 safety systems side together for I climbed a homemade ladder Up a 70 foot side of it. I don't know if it was like
Starting point is 00:09:50 70 or 80 feet but here's the thing You could take a browning 12-gauge shotgun with any shot you wanted twos whatever okay let a milder drake light directly under you in the decoys and he could not kill him you just crippling you crippled he'd swim off yeah now you could do it today with today's shells yeah but back in them days when they were trying to figure out steel shot and all that couldn't do it couldn't do it no you shoot him with a full load in the back you know down on top of him okay and hey he had swum off i have so many questions
Starting point is 00:10:26 How did you retrieve them? P-ro. P-ro. And then climb back? Oh, yeah. They were all athletes. You talk about Phil. You're talking about Phil.
Starting point is 00:10:36 You're talking about Phil. You've got to understand. This was back in the days when they was playing football. Yeah. Okay. This is while he was on the football team. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Why he was playing quarterback. Well, Phil, Tommy, and Sia, even, I mean, Sia, probably the least athletic of the brothers. Oh, I'm just saying. Well, I mean. Not least athletic. I was just too little. There you go.
Starting point is 00:11:00 The small, but I'm saying, they were all like cat squirrels back in. They could climb anything. They'd be down in that boat so fast. It'd make your head spin. That's amazing. I mean, them boys were a lot of things, and they were mad at them and skilled at what they do.
Starting point is 00:11:17 And so getting them wouldn't the problem. And fairly decent shots. Yeah, decent, allegedly. Just decent, allegedly. Oh, man. That was back in the day when the mallards actually migrated down here. See the John David. Show John David just how high up that thing is.
Starting point is 00:11:39 Well, the mallards came, but there also wasn't food from end to end for them. So they had to come to eat and survive. Like the state of Arkansas wasn't one big rice prairie then. Well, we got Becky waiting in the wings. Let's get her in here, take a break, and we'll be back right after this. All right, look, springtime is here. warming up. You know what that means? That means more outside cooking. And y'all know, we love to eat beef around here. And that's what, because of our friends over at Tritels Beef,
Starting point is 00:12:09 makes such a good product, baby. Ain't it good? It's so good. Our friend, Sao Robertson would say, buy on the grill. Look, before we got Tritels, getting ready for a cookout, man, somebody had to run the grocery store, do all the things, grab whatever was left in case you were late in the day. And you never really know where that beef come to them. But with Tritales beef, we skipped the grocery store and do it a different way. Triedales comes from a family ranch out in Texas. They're a fifth generation American ranch, so they've been at it for a while. Now, look, the beef comes straight from their ranch and other ranchers they work with
Starting point is 00:12:42 who raise cattle the same way. Their steaks are properly aged and shipped straight from the ranch to your door. We threw a couple of ribbys on the grill. Look, salt, pepper, garlic, hot fire, that's all you need. Look, because I'll tell you what, when the beef comes from people who raise cattle for a living, you can taste the difference. The tenderness and the flavor are fantastic. So if you're stocking the freezer for grilling season,
Starting point is 00:13:04 go check out Tritale's beef. I know in size case Christine loves it, which is just a, she doesn't eat meat. She isn't a big meat easier, folks. Yeah. Just go to trybeef.com slash. That's trybeef.com slash support ranch families and eat some dang good steak.
Starting point is 00:13:22 You think you can beat up somebody in the NFL? I still have my doubt. He's five, six. And? and 150 pounds. And? I was that in junior high. That's fine.
Starting point is 00:13:33 So like Chad Mendez, it fights in the UFC. He's like 5-7-140. That's a different look. I mean, you think you got him? Like, see, look, even Becky's laughing. Okay, Becky's in the house. We're moving on. Ghost Saints and your new 12-year-old kicker.
Starting point is 00:13:48 I follow them on Instagram. Anyway, Becky's in the house and we're excited to have her. Hey, Becky, do I have something on your desk? No. Not today. Does that get annoying? Becky that people only come to you for money? That's the only reason they like me.
Starting point is 00:14:01 That's not true. I spend half of my day in the office, generally either in Becky's office or she's in my office. So we work hand in hand together. We're like the two that's been here the longest, so we're the only two that know each other's gripes with things around here. Godwin's been here? Well, I know, but he's not in our office.
Starting point is 00:14:19 Oh, he's down the hall. He's down the street. Down the street. Yeah, he down the street. I don't know if we were allowed to say that. Oh, I'm fine with it. It doesn't matter. We have two warehouses.
Starting point is 00:14:27 But thank you all for the comments. Look, I told y'all if y'all would be nice that we could get some employees in. So we're going to introduce everybody at some point. Maybe not Harry. He still seems to be. That's something bad hat, Harry. Yeah. He's holding out.
Starting point is 00:14:40 He seems to be strongly against coming in here. Harry Puff. How many words he'd say, though. Well, it doesn't matter. Everything that comes out of Harry's mouth is. Heard gold. It really is. And now that he's close to retirement, he's done got lippy.
Starting point is 00:14:53 Wow. And he doesn't take nothing off nobody anymore. Does he not? No, he used to just smile and walk away now. He just, he lets her fly, baby. Oh, man, I hate that I've missed. What you're going to do now? I hate that I've missed this version of Harry.
Starting point is 00:15:07 So Becky, welcome. How, we're just getting, we're letting the fans get to know. How long have you been at Duck Commander now? It started in 2007. Wow. Good, pretty. I thought it was earlier than that. Nope.
Starting point is 00:15:21 I was Willie's first hire after he took over Duck Commander. Which happened in 2006, so you were the first. I guess I was technically probably like the second. Yeah, you were right after you. I was right. I wasn't long because me and Becky used to share a wall in Willie's old house. And so I could hear she was doing all the billing and accounting and I was next door doing sales. So we were, she could hear everything that I got committed to.
Starting point is 00:15:46 So it was fantastic. The only difference was she was getting paid. That's true. Allegedly. Yeah. It depends on what week it was. Intern. Intern.
Starting point is 00:15:55 So 2007, so that's 16 years, Becky. That's crazy considering you're only 31. That is true. That is true. You've worked here half your life. That's amazing. No, Becky is the... What is your title besides just...
Starting point is 00:16:13 Office mom? Overall things. She's office mom. Yeah, and I've been doing sales and licensing and bookkeeping and everything. Overall things. Yeah. Becky's overall things. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:24 She's the Swiss Army knife of the office. Like if they have something come up, they just dump it in her lap. Hey, Becky. I've heard that before. I was across the hall from Becky for forever. And we're both really loud people. So not a lot of work got done. Yeah, Becky is so loud.
Starting point is 00:16:39 Listen to her. You know what my favorite Becky's story is? Go ahead. Way back in the day. Way back in the day. I grew up around the corner from Becky, basically. And one night, my parents went on like a date. and like a tornado and a hail storm came through and nearly took our house and threw it into a lake somewhere.
Starting point is 00:17:00 And my sister and me were crying because we were at home alone. And my parents called Becky. And here comes Becky and Wayne to the rescue in the hail. Because my sister was like ready to run and like leave the house. So Becky and Wayne saved me my life that night. We wouldn't have made it in our house alone. We did. Do you remember that?
Starting point is 00:17:19 I do. I've forgotten too you said that. Now see, I would feel so secure if I looked out and saw. saw Becky coming to my house. Wayne? Wayne would scare me. I went over there house as a small child. Wayne.
Starting point is 00:17:33 I mean, Wayne is just so. I can say that. What's the look on his face? And I love Wayne. He is one of my favorite people. One of my favorite things is every Friday they eat lunch together, at least every Friday they eat lunch together.
Starting point is 00:17:46 And Wayne is at this office or sitting in that parking lot at 10.30. Wayne's a creature of habit. He gets, they have brunch every Friday. Like, and it, it, but when he walks in, I tried to give him a hug because I know how very uncomfortable it makes Wayne for another male to hug him. Wayne loves hugging. No, not at all. Wayne used to go every day and put $5 a gas in his truck, right?
Starting point is 00:18:11 He used to, yeah, that's when we'd have you money. That's when Duck Commander was poor. Yeah. You could leave the neighborhood behind Wayne and he was stopping every day, $5 bill, put $5, It's actually a great system. Is it? Yeah. When you think about it, you just know.
Starting point is 00:18:26 Like, you never, like, going to run out of gas. You got five, you got the day's gas every day. The problem is $5 a gas now won't get you to the gas station. This was back when that was back in the 1900s. That was back when you could get around on $5. Yeah, that's right. Wayne is a preacher. I can't believe that's your favorite Becky's story because my favorite Becky's
Starting point is 00:18:46 She saved my life. Well, my favorite Becky's. The alarms were going off. There was hate. I was scared to death, and my mom and dad were like, deal with it. And then here came Becky. And we were like, thank God Becky's here. And we went and stayed at her house.
Starting point is 00:19:01 That's right. So my favorite Becky's story is when she tried to make Corey's office a drive-thru. Oh, my gosh. Becky, I don't know. You know this. I can't believe y'all are telling me. No, we're showing it, Becky. This show is on YouTube.
Starting point is 00:19:15 Are you really? I feel bad because I don't have that cute up. that new car. So I showed up. Becky has a brand new car, right? She gets a brand new rig. And I show up one morning because Becky's generally, me, Becky and Harry are like one, two, and three on arriving at the office just about every day. And I pull up and I see Wayne here. And I'm like, this is weird. So then I walk into the warehouse and I see light coming through the warehouse. And I'm like, what in the, and then I noticed Becky's car is now parked in the warehouse where There used to be a wall.
Starting point is 00:19:53 And we do have it on security camera video somewhere. Oh, do we? Oh, no. So, of course, after we made sure that Becky was okay. Yeah, this is one that you- Priority one was to make sure that she was okay. The next priority was, I wonder if our security cameras got this. And, you know, this is one you keep on hand.
Starting point is 00:20:14 And, you know, my favorite part is at the time, the guy over our security footage is Becky's son. That's true. So it is a family business, not just Robertsons necessarily. So Taylor, her son works here. And here goes. Hold on. At this point, Becky, what are you thinking that you're pressing the brakes?
Starting point is 00:20:35 I'm thinking I'm pressing the brakes and it's not stopping. So then I press on the brakes. Yeah. And we're hard. Ayah! Wow. Look at Beth. I've never seen this before.
Starting point is 00:20:47 ride into, if Corey had been sitting there, it would have hurt her. Yeah. It would have been bad. Yeah. It wouldn't have killed her, but it would have messed her. Well, when they sold her the car, they told her, this is the safest car in America. So Becky says, all right, I'm on testing. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:21:01 Oh, man. That was so. She even made a barnyard swing in there. Look, but we've got the date in the time. She had to gas it to get over it. Wow, that's already been eight years ago. That was eight years ago. And let's just be honest.
Starting point is 00:21:17 Holy cow. I would have said this was like three years ago. How has that already been eight years? Time flies when you're having fun, Martin. Wow. That's unbelievable. But the thing is, the times were stressful up here in those days. Yes, they were.
Starting point is 00:21:32 And Becky's the first one here wondering where we're all at, not doing our jobs, because she's over all the things. Nobody's here. And that morning she just said, well, I'm going to press the brakes. Yeah, all breaks, no gas. Wrong. I still think that something was wrong with the car. What boy, you're saying.
Starting point is 00:21:49 Yeah, the gas is your friend. The gas is your friend. Look at this. Great parking job. I mean, you nailed that parking spot, but then you just kept going. Right over it. The favorite part is Becky's office was at that time like 10 feet from right there. It was just on this side of that little concrete pad.
Starting point is 00:22:06 Well, and Corey can push anybody to the brink. So she thought, you know what? If she's in there, so be it. That's what happens. I got a back door to my office. I feel bad because I didn't know we were going to bring this up, but I do just happen to have that video pretty much on standby. How can we not bring that?
Starting point is 00:22:23 Well, you know why she did that is because before that, we went to Texas Motor Speedway and he drove a race car. I did. Oh, yes. And that would have been like 2015, too, 2014-2015. I forgot we did that. That was pretty fun. You forgot that?
Starting point is 00:22:44 Yes. Good grief. Becky brought the Richard Petty experience on back to the office. That's fantastic. Is that what you? Y'all did the Richard Petty thing? No, it was Texas Motor Speedway deal. And you drove?
Starting point is 00:22:55 Yes. Ten laps. Yes, it was fun. Beck is a daredevil. She said, I got NASCAR down. Let's go for demolition derby now. Oh, she was flying, too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:05 I know. I hope I go that fast. We can laugh about it now because she was fine and everything. She definitely was fine. Look at her popping a wheel. I wouldn't have brought this up Had it been like Yesterday?
Starting point is 00:23:17 No, had Becky not been okay Like if this would have taken some recovery Oh, we would But the only recovery was her having to deal with us watching this and laughing in every office For like the next two months Yeah
Starting point is 00:23:29 And having to see this video over My son sent this to everybody I think to show them Oh yeah, it was definitely Taylor That's Taylor I don't remember You all getting Watch that real
Starting point is 00:23:43 Wop, got the grill too. You know, the funniest thing was Jay Stone was here, and he heard it, which Jay Stone is not the most affectionate person, but I was crying, like, he was like, okay, it's going to be okay. They're there. There, there. Well, Becky. That's funny.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Stone and affection. Man, alive. That's good stuff. Becky, you want to hang around for another segment? We already got this out of the way. There's no more embarrassing videos I have. Oh, yeah. I don't think.
Starting point is 00:24:17 But we've got more Becky's stories. Becky's sister works here too. Yeah. My sister works here too. It is a family business. Becky's just trying to. And you got to be nice to hire too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:28 She pays all the bills. We'll have Christy in here at some point. I'm worried. Christy hasn't driven through any walls though. No. But let's take a break. We'll be back right after this. Anyways.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Yeah, we're back. Becky's still here. Becky's still here. Because I think he's locked in the bathroom. I don't know. He had to get up and run out. Oh, whoa. The mayor is 75.
Starting point is 00:24:52 I don't question when he's got to get up and lay. Hey, let me tell you. It takes longer than it used to. Well, elaborate, Gobim. What takes off? I don't want to elaborate. Anyways. Now, and that was, in fairness, that was like the funniest
Starting point is 00:25:10 Becky's story, the jumping through the deal. But you know, she's the office mom, essentially. All the folks go, my kids will refer to her as Mama Becky once they can start talking. Your kids and you. Well, I do too. But that's just for funnies. But now Becky did something really stinking cool that you've got to know what I'm talking about. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:25:40 You gave up a kidney for your husband. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, there you go. I was like, what are you? That's a big one. You like him, don't you? He's got a part of me forever now. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:53 I mean, that is thinking cool. Like, not to go too far into Wayne's deal, but I mean, he's a diabetic was going through kidney failure. They happened to do the blood work and husband and wife were a match. That's great. So did it hurt? It hurt very bad, yes. It was a very miserable time. So, I mean, I think that is really, really, really cool.
Starting point is 00:26:18 Like, I mean, I don't, Brittany, I don't. Oh, wait. Now we're opening up another camera. I mean, I'm just saying. That's okay. Brittany doesn't listen. Yeah. I mean, I'm just saying, like, that's a level.
Starting point is 00:26:30 Hey, we're a match and I'm going to give you my kidney. Like, that's big time. How long have you and Wayne been married? We've been married 43 years. 43 years. By year, you know, 30, you'll probably be. to give him Brittany a kidney. I don't know that she would give me one though.
Starting point is 00:26:47 At year 12, would you have given Wayne a kidney? Probably. Okay, never mind. Yeah, she's a giving person. She is. If I knew what I know now, maybe. No, I'm kidding. Wayne's not going to listen.
Starting point is 00:27:01 Do you regret it? No, I'm just kidding. No, no. Not at all. No, because when they did it, they actually found out something wrong with Becky. So, yeah, we kind of saved each other's lives in the middle of when they found when we decided we were matched they found that I had a tumor in my kidney so in process of all that they thought that they could take my kidney out remove the tumor and still give it to
Starting point is 00:27:25 Wayne and it's better than what he had now and so yesterday we went for our two-year checkup and we're both great and I'm done for yeah see it was a great yeah I wouldn't go back to the doctor either see that is that's incredible I'm sorry I mean, that even like gives me chill bumps. That's crazy. It's incredible because I got to sit here and watch it all transpire, not the surgery, obviously, I don't let you go in those things. But you would have, you would have.
Starting point is 00:27:53 I really would have. I know you would. And I find it extremely interesting that when they did hurt gave Wayne Becky's kidney, that Wayne, instead of like taking one of his out, he's got three now. Three. Yep. That's cool. Wayne's walking around with three and Becky's got one.
Starting point is 00:28:10 Well, it is incredible. You are the only person I know that's like, hey, Becky, you got the DVD? And you want to watch the whole thing back. Well, I'm a nerd, man. I just, I find that supremely interesting that the good Lord has got us to a point in technology and knowledge that that even exists. I know. Like that that option exists for people.
Starting point is 00:28:33 Yeah. That is really cool to me. That is cool. And that's a lot of times we complain about stuff. And, oh, man, just go back to the good old days, but they, weren't doing nothing. Kidney, dirty complex organ, too.
Starting point is 00:28:44 Yeah, in the good old days, we'd have been throwing dirt over folks. But you worked with Harry way back before Duck Commander. Yes, I worked for Corey's dad, John Howard, for 20 years before Willie Howard. Oh, man. Look, Harry and Becky are important people to me
Starting point is 00:28:58 because they work for my, I guess my papal and my uncle and then worked at Duck Commander. Like, if it wasn't for the Harry's and Becky's of the world, I'd be, who knows what I'd be doing? Who knows? Like, really, do we have a clue? No.
Starting point is 00:29:13 Because they are the people that kept, you know, Howard publishing, rocking and rolling and duck commander rocking and roll. Oh, during the dynasty, if it hadn't been for them, this place would have just imploded. Implosion. Wild, wild. Yeah. So it was, I mean, we and Becky have traveled together a lot, too.
Starting point is 00:29:29 So we've gone to shot shows and sales meetings. Me and Becky are the kings of the 430 dinner. That's right. We'll eat at 4.30. We'll be in the room by 6, won't see each other till 7 a.m. the next morning. We are great travel partners. We're not the need, we're not you. We don't feel the need to go explore when you, when you have a long night in a play. I've seen the streets of America. Yeah. Me and John David have done several races together
Starting point is 00:29:57 in the, not foot races. No, the, the Daytona Day. Hey, you remember Charlotte. You remember that? Charlotte, that was the night, that was the race that would never end. That's my favorite. That was the next night. That was the first night. We went to the dirt track, and she picked, we was picking winners on the dirt track, and she picked every winner, every winner. And you know what her secret was? What?
Starting point is 00:30:26 The color of the color. That's right. There you go. She's a genius. The problem is you couldn't bet on them like you could horses. Otherwise, Becky, could have flown us back private the next night when the race would never end. Everyone. Me and Willie did.
Starting point is 00:30:39 How did you do that? She said, the car's pretty. That's right. I said, good. So that's a tip for all you dirt racers out there if you're listening. Make your car pretty. Make pretty cars. You'll win.
Starting point is 00:30:53 They'll win. They go faster. Have Becky pick you. Yeah. Do you buy lottery tickets? I do not. I should. You should.
Starting point is 00:31:03 No, Becky's. I have to think about that. Go pick a pretty one. That's right. You'll win. No. Hey, you can buy mine You can pick me one out and I'll buy it
Starting point is 00:31:12 I've never won the lottery Yes you have We all have Oh yeah Yeah we've I'm at the state lottery Oh yeah The actual lottery
Starting point is 00:31:21 Like the birth lottery And the life lottery I just keep hitting on Yeah It's just accident after accident But yeah I was thinking about the actual Yeah I was about to say
Starting point is 00:31:30 The numbers I will say that time You all were stuck at the never-ending race And I had to go home with Willie What was it The sky cam fell on the track. Shut her down.
Starting point is 00:31:41 Willie, like, said the prayer at the beginning of the race. Then, you know, Willie had somewhere to be, and I had to get Willie there. So we headed on home. I was in my bed in Westman Row watching the end of that race while y'all were still there. And I was in a suite. Yeah. Waiting on Kevin Harvick to win. I'll never forget because I went to Victory Lane because there were like seven people left there.
Starting point is 00:32:00 It was like 1 a.m. Yes, it was. Eastern. You know, sometimes you just got to hit the lottery and be Willie's assistant. I was sitting on. Oh, man. Yeah. All right. Well, let's take a break. We'll get the old man back in here since he finally found his way of the bathroom. And we'll be back right after this. No. Look at that. Oh, yeah. Look at it. That's it. You barely can't even tell this up there. Just a dark spot. Yeah. That was it. That was it.
Starting point is 00:32:31 Look at that. Oh, you're talking about beautiful. I mean, yeah, but. You can talk about climbing up. That's a climb, son. Oh, yeah. And look, you can't even see the ladders. You see the one section right there where the tree plays. Right there before, under it. Yeah. So. But you're talking about beautiful stuff to watch.
Starting point is 00:32:51 Some morning as soon as the sunlight, when it was breaking daylight, we look in the buck brush and here comes ripples. And we can't tell what it is. And look, it was nine river riders. They come swimming out just like horses, like cowboys. Come swimming out. they went down at the end of the this was on moss lake went to the end of the lake and just started circling
Starting point is 00:33:16 and we was watching saying what in the world do they do it about that time they circled they got sold and then they all hit the middle and hey then they come out with about a 30 pound buffalo went to the bank and hey you ain't there and have a lot of the growling and you know hey they had a big fight over at buffalo yeah Thanksgiving dinner over there went wrong Oh, yeah. That is incredible to look at.
Starting point is 00:33:42 Yeah. Yeah. And just think, but I mean. Can you imagine the stories that was telling on that point? Well, incredible to look at, but like, just think about, I'm just the marvel of the construction. That's why I said, I ain't ever been that mad. Oh, no, no, no. That was a feat.
Starting point is 00:33:58 Yeah. That took us about, oh, what? That was B.C. too. That's four. That's what I'm about to say. Yeah. Before Christ. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:06 You know how much whiskey fell out of that thing? Oh, yeah. That took us about four weekends. Okay. How did you? A full month. So you start with the ladder, I'm guessing. Oh, well, the ladder, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:20 And then just shimmy and stuff up there. Well, no, no. Hey, here's time. Because ain't nothing y'all ever built. It's been square either. Well, no, no, but hey, Tommy, Tommy was the man in charge of it. Tommy makes square. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:32 Yeah, he was the foreman. Oh, yeah. He ain't ever made it square. Yeah. No, no, he made it square because, hey, he, built houses for but I promise you it was well built even if it was square or not if Tommy
Starting point is 00:34:45 involved it was it wasn't going nowhere he was like he was like Mac Howard's yeah okay he actually built houses as a teenager yeah okay that is incredible oh Tommy was a borderline engineer that corner has got two what is that four before post nailed
Starting point is 00:35:03 to that other limb coming out yeah yeah look at is there a bathroom in there no no A hole in the floor? No, it wasn't in my hole in the hole. Let's go to the door. And what the coolest part about this was, okay, is he built it in mind, okay, because the sleeping quarters were inside and the hunting porch, okay, you had to walk upstairs.
Starting point is 00:35:27 Yeah, that's why you see the two levels. Hey, and the heat, we turned it on and we just sit out there on the porch and it had fence coming out behind you, you'd be just toasting on the coldest day. I'm in. I would make the climb the experience. How many purple tails would build in there after the season? Oh, when you're going there to next year? We'd have to go in there with like 10 cans, big, big cans of wash spray and de-washed it.
Starting point is 00:35:54 Yeah, 70 foot up, dodging wall. Oh, yeah, dodging wall. They're no jumping down. That's why everybody, everybody, hey, look, we're like, we were like a two guns, guns slinger. We had a can in his hand. How many years did y'all have them? I'll shoot, what, 72 to what? Oh, 15 years.
Starting point is 00:36:16 Yeah, probably mid-80s when they bought it. From 70s, 70s to at least 8 middle of the age. Anybody tried to come back there? Oh, no. Who was? I think it was Harold went up there and said, you know, made me sick. He said, it made me sick what they've done. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:36 I mean, why y'all was there, people try to, because they hear you shooting. back there. No. They couldn't find them. They were looking down. Look, how they found this, okay,
Starting point is 00:36:46 it was, Tommy was in college, we was all in college. And, and, they was up there doing something because somebody said, hey,
Starting point is 00:36:54 I've seen some ducks back in the woods back there. So, hey, Tommy and Phil and two more football players jumps in that beat up,
Starting point is 00:37:03 the beetle, VEW Beetle. Yeah. And went, okay, and hey, you had to have a four-wheel driving.
Starting point is 00:37:09 get in there. A walk, you know. Them Beatles were pretty tough. Oh, no. So look, they would get stuck. Just get out of it, pick it up. Pick it up. Hey, go ahead and pick it up and stay on the dry ground. Get back and say off. Aside by side today, heavier in them. Oh, yeah. Because they, uh, yeah, that's how they found it. And they went in and looked at it, you know, and said, uh, hmm, they found Stove Creek, you know, and said, they're steep banks. But I thought they steep banks. But anyway, Tommy and them said, well, hey, and Phil looked at it and said, hey, we can put about an eight-foot dump in here in this creek. And then see what happened.
Starting point is 00:37:50 The whole thing. Oh, no. And look, hey, they put that thing in there and it rained big time. And, hey, it formed moss and fish lake. You know, because all it was was Moss Lake was just a wet spot in the ground. Yeah. The river will come up, you know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:08 But, hey. No slew. There was more game and fish and everything. When that thing, when we put that dump in there and made it, then the Corps of Engineers come in there and screws around with it and just run it. Well, they did. They rectified it because they come down there all like 10 years later. And that Phil said, hey, how did y'all exactly do this?
Starting point is 00:38:33 And Phil said, hey, you know, we put just an eight-foot dump on the creek. Couple of men with shovels. Yeah. Yeah. Although they hired the cricket town there. No, but I'm y'all. He's done it with a dozer. He put it in there with a dozer.
Starting point is 00:38:47 There you go. Unbelievable. Yeah, the guy that worked at a sawmill up there. I told you all, I ain't ever been that mad at them. Yeah. Oh, no. And the visual makes you realize you ain't either. No, I'm not.
Starting point is 00:38:59 I'd like to sit in there, but I ain't built. Hey, look, there was more game. We'd go up there like the week before season open, brushing the blinds. Mm-hmm. And, you know, just from daylight to dark, B-break, they would just, a bunch would come in a circle going down in the hole. Because what it was, it was a 30-foot circle, 30-yard circle, under that big cypress tree, and then it was solid buck brush, you know.
Starting point is 00:39:29 So the cypress tree shaded out, the buck brush, so there was nothing that grew under it. Yeah, nothing grew under it, yeah. that was the highest tree in that whole swamp area there you were high enough to shoot birds that were still migrating oh no oh yeah they shot birds on the flyby oh no no no they had no intentions that coming to them they just fly by you just go ahead and kill them yeah walk yeah they were like ah we're not stopping here we're headed to Mexico cold hey you know here it's so high shoot them up there and when they hit it would bust their chest open feathered
Starting point is 00:40:05 Fussed off. Terminal Volunt. No, no, no, I'm serious. Oh, it was insane now. But you're talking about beautiful. Man. It was full of deer. I'd love to go.
Starting point is 00:40:16 It was a great fish hatchery, like when the river come up and flooded. Yeah. That swamp run for miles, okay? And that's where all your fish came. I'd like to fish from that blind. That's great. It was real hard one day and then the brim.
Starting point is 00:40:35 it was just we pull up and shut the Jeep off and all you could hear was and it was just a roar and what it was was brim feeding on on the mayflies it was just
Starting point is 00:40:51 just a roar it was literally millions of big old bluegill and cheeky pens no no upstairs and I mean I'm talking to a million of because you could just see them everywhere
Starting point is 00:41:06 and you could probably caught all of them. Look. We first done bass fishing up there. Anything that hit the top of the water. Yeah. Just got that's stored. It hit the water and when it made the ripple,
Starting point is 00:41:20 you'll look over 50 yards. It's just a big wave would be coming. I mean, I call them cross-eyed mean bass. That just sounds fun. Oh, no. It makes me sad because I have no idea where I could even attempt. Bill, Tommy, and whoever else. went with them during flood states they went up in there and and they was uh they pulled up from
Starting point is 00:41:43 the riverside on that dump and threw over there and caught 1500 bass on top water on top water oh my word oh no we wish we went up there one summer okay martin that's a dream oh no i'm thinking about it right now i stopped by walmart and we what we fished was was chuggers The big ones. Oh, yeah. Well, I bought everything. They didn't have but five. So I bought it all five up.
Starting point is 00:42:11 Because you went to Walmart. Different colors, you know. So I go up there the first time, throw it out there. It hit, let the ripples go away. Chug. About three pounds, one of them crossed out of the bass. You know? So I rid them in, take him off and throw it back out there.
Starting point is 00:42:27 And as soon as you hit, it just, it went under. And I, you know, it'd come back up. You were late? Nope. Hey, that bass bit it and crushed it. Crack it. Oh, split you deal. Split the bait.
Starting point is 00:42:41 And this is hard plastic. So, hey, I really didn't cut it off. Put the next one on the same thing. Another three-pounder. Boom. What the same thing. He cracked that one. He cracked four in a row.
Starting point is 00:42:52 They cracked four in a row now. Just a bad bunch of plastic. Just mean. Oh, what? Well, mean one. Both of them, yeah. Oh, hey, that last one, I tied that last one on there. And I said, good grief.
Starting point is 00:43:03 I'm down to my last bait, boy. I hope he's doing it. Throw it out there. Same deal, three pounds. Boom. Yeah. This time I just dropped it off the edge of boat. Okay, it's floating them.
Starting point is 00:43:12 Smash. Get back after that, boy. That does sound fun. Oh, no. Well, that was back with... 1,500 bass on a chug bug. It's just a good day. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:43:21 What are you talking about? One of the other coolest thing, we're seen up there. We won a prayer in flood stage. We're going on the dirt roads in there. Checking all the spots. Well, the water was about, oh, anywhere from a foot
Starting point is 00:43:37 to 18 inches deep. Mm-hmm. Coming over the road. We come around the bend and looked over there and Phil said, what is that out there in the woods? It's pigs, wild pigs. Uh-oh.
Starting point is 00:43:52 About 30 of them. Look. Swimming? No. They're all in the line. Leaving there. No. No. They're all in a line and they all got their snout
Starting point is 00:44:04 stuck down in the water to the water is like right here. Hmm Phil just shut the stupid truck off and we sit there for a few minutes he said
Starting point is 00:44:15 what is the quarrel is going what are they doing you know we sit there for a minute and all of a sudden one of the biggest
Starting point is 00:44:22 one in there he just went whoa his head was on the water he come out of the water with a jackfish about this long
Starting point is 00:44:32 pig fisherman no no and Phil and Phil yelled and he said this suckers are fishing. He said, can you believe that? They're fishing. He said, and everybody says they're stupid.
Starting point is 00:44:46 He said, you got to be kidding me. Well, they all run away and got on the dry ground and fight broke out because they were fighting over that big jackfish. Well, they finally ate him and then, hey, guess what? Here's it come. Lined up again. Stucked them snouts in the water. They was being a pig net. I'm telling you, they lined up about five foot apart. And I mean, a straight line, okay? Smash. So nothing won't go in between them.
Starting point is 00:45:19 Wow. But I believe it. I mean, pig eat anything. Anything. Anything. Everything. No, no. Deer hunting up there.
Starting point is 00:45:28 Deer hunting. Sitting on a deer stand. Look, here comes pigs. You know, there. You know, every once while a root. Hey, I look down there. I said, oh, what's he going to do with that Congo when they come up on him? And I mean, hey, here's a grownling curled up.
Starting point is 00:45:46 Hey, he just flared up like that. All that big deal was just dropping you. He just, he ate him alive. I love when Sae gets fired up about hunting stories from a certain spot. Now does my comment about yesterday make sense when you get to see two brothers. Oh, yeah. It was. I remember all that old stuff.
Starting point is 00:46:13 Oh, no. Look. I'm behind Phil. Always am. Okay. He's leading. I'm back there behind him. Phil ain't ever going to be second.
Starting point is 00:46:22 Oh, no. And where's the Phil? Second man gets bit. No, no. Look. Probably a thousand times. And he's barefooted. Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:33 Yeah. that's what that's what the deal is he barefooted and I'm telling you a thousand times that foot goes down I look over there and I see see just like this just a black black ring and a white spot in the middle of it just all you see is that right there and Phil's done moved on and I'm going whoa you know he's what I said hey you was that far from a Congo all he did was open that mouth ain't no telling how many times he's almost been oh no no basically cleaning out them beaver dams
Starting point is 00:47:10 we went up there and got in the blind moss lake one day oh that's a good one no no it's not one in the mall it was on fish lake because he got out of the he got out in the boat run Tommy had had let us off and went somewhere with the boat so we had sit there for about an hour
Starting point is 00:47:31 and feel looked over and one of him big cypress tree and he said hey is that a big old turkey over in that in that in that cypress tree and everybody looked and said what are you talking about he said right over there we look every minute he moves yeah says gosh sure is big old cobbler you know phil said hey guess what boys guess what we have for lunch he said we fix and eat turkey fingers for lunch so look he gets in the boat run, okay, and that turkey waited until he got chest deep. And he was just coming out of the end of the boat running. We said, Phil, he said, what?
Starting point is 00:48:13 I said, guess what? He just flew off the lamp. I said, he waited until he saw your ripples, and he left. It was 18 degrees. Oh, good. And he's wet. And he's wet. No chest run.
Starting point is 00:48:28 Because, hey, hold on, we didn't know what waiters were back in days. Back on men were men. Oh, no, yeah. That was back about, hey, that was the battle cry. Who's a man? Yeah. Who's the man? And I always told them, hey, I'm out.
Starting point is 00:48:44 I'm a boy. I say, you go get that turkey. I'm going to sit right here by that. Oh, yeah. I'm going to stay in this warm blind. That's 80 feet off the ground. Not officially. B-break was the big one.
Starting point is 00:48:57 I'm kidding. And Moss Lake was what, like 20 foot, 15, 20? No, no, that's a floater. that Tommy built there there was a floater. Yeah. They were all different. Because there was always competition.
Starting point is 00:49:07 Tommy was on fish lake. Okay. Because he was close to B break. That's where all the ducks. We just left that as a sanctuary. When we got mad and wasn't no duck, then we'd hit them. And then we would burn them then.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Managing pressure. But it was always competition. It was field out bowling. and all the drunks. Okay. Big Al? Oh, yeah. Just go see the movie.
Starting point is 00:49:36 You get to learn all about Big Al. And it was, you know, Tommy and his bunch, you know, because they'd hear them over on Mall's Lake because they, you know. Hey, throw that whiskey bottle up. Boom. Yeah. Because the bottom of Moss Lake is, you know, off. This whiskey bottle of thousands of them.
Starting point is 00:49:56 Oh, big Al. He seems like a rough one. Oh, no. He was an alcoholic. Yeah. BC, boys. Yeah, BC. Before Christ.
Starting point is 00:50:03 Yep. There you go. Well, you want to send us out of here? Yeah. And hey, remember, we talked about at the beginning. Go see that movie. Yeah, go check out. Go check out the blind look.
Starting point is 00:50:12 Send us more emails. We're not going to steer you wrong, even though we're close to them. It's a great movie. We always talk about Jesus. It's amazing to see. And I don't even know how to the devil himself, okay? Jesus took a man that was totally out of, control and made him a pretty decent person.
Starting point is 00:50:35 Pretty decent person. Well, speaking of pretty decent people, I got a Bible verse. Becky, it was great having her in here. You missed her. She said she's got a check for you in her office. Oh, that's what I'm talking about right there. Hey, that's why I love that woman. But I don't know why this, I do know why this verse made me think of Becky and Harry
Starting point is 00:50:57 for all that they've done at Duck Commander. but Romans 13-7, give to everyone what you owe them. If you owe taxes, pay taxes, if revenue, then revenue. And Becky handles all that. But if respect, then respect. If honor, then honor. And Becky is somebody that deserves the honor. Y'all probably never heard her talk until today.
Starting point is 00:51:18 But she is a big part of why Duck Commander is what it is today and hasn't gone under many times in the past. Amen. Because she gets things done. That's why there's always a good woman. the man. Oh, ain't no doubt. And she's one of them. Y'all heard her talk today. You will most likely never hear
Starting point is 00:51:35 never hear from her again. And if you ever receive an email from her, don't expect more than about six words. And no punctuation, no emotion, no feeling. Becky, don't play, she gets right to the point. That's right. To the point. And we all over to death. She's a treasure. That's right. And she helps keep this
Starting point is 00:51:51 place around. Look, thank you guys for indulging our fun of introducing the rest of the folks at Duck Commander here to you. And we'll see y'all next time right here. on the duck call room, we're out.
