Hey, Niall.
It's the same thing with Slow Hands.
Slow Hands is not about anything else, really, is it?
You know, or taste so good can't be about food.
You do the same, Nick, with some of the stuff that you've done.
You too, Joe.

December 18th, 2022.
Lusail, Stadium, Lusail, Qatar.
Messi, Mbapé, it's all tied up after 120 minutes of action.
It all comes down to penalty kicks.
This is the greatest World Cup final ever!
Welcome to Games with Names.
I'm Julian.
They're Jack and Kyler, and we're on a mission to finding the beach.
greatest game of all time. And today's episode is presented by Domino's. We got a great episode
today coming out with streamer Castro. And if you haven't already, drop a like and subscribe to
Games with Names. Let's go. Games with Names, a production of IHeart Radio. Welcome to Games with Names.
Today we are looking at the 2022 World Cup final, Argentina,
versus France with Edwin Castro.
Edwin, in one sentence, why did you pick this game?
Why did I pick this game?
What a question, man.
Listen, for me, for me, it fell as if, you know,
a movie I've been watching for 15 years had the perfect closure,
the perfect ending.
Lionel Messi winning the World Cup.
Jack, is that maybe one of the best answers?
No, the same thing.
sentence. Well, you kept it one sentence. Usually people go into a monologue and they try to break down the game.
That was money. Listen, I'm a big fan of the cast, man. So I can't prepare. Let's go. Let's go. Is it the greatest game of all time? Absolutely.
Oh, absolutely. Another great. It meant so much, man. Think about it. It's it's everything we want as fans to see. Messy lift the World Cup. But then here comes the new generation, Killian and Boppe. Oh my God. In the final, dropping a hat trick.
which hadn't been done since
1966, and he tries to steal the story
that Messi's trying to finish.
Yeah.
I mean, I'm sure you watched the game.
We all watched the game.
I mean, it was an insane game.
And I'm a casual soccer fan.
I got into soccer probably 15 years ago or football
because of Harry Kane.
Harry Kane started following me.
He's a Patriots fan.
I started following him.
I became a Tottenham Hot Spurs fan.
And then I play a lot of FIFA.
So that's how.
You're a Tottenham fan?
A Tottenham fan.
Thanks for having me guys.
And the reason is, all my friends, they have all their EPL teams, the Arsenal's, Liverpools, and Manus and Man City.
I was like, I'm going to go with the hotspurs.
Yeah, yeah.
I mean, you're in a, you're in a tough spot right now, but.
Terrible.
I mean, listen, it felt like the entire planet just got together during that final.
I think it was like 1.5 billion viewers.
it was insane and I was front row so to witness it was was pretty special man and something
I'll never forget but it was more than just that game too Argentina lost their first game
of Saudi yeah against Saudi Arabia exactly and you know Messi scored in every single round of
the World Cup seven times so it was it was bigger than just the final but that that last game
man it felt like a script right it was just like it felt fake you know what I'm saying because
It was 2-2, and then it was 3-3, and then I know you're a big fan of shootouts.
That's how you like sporting events to end.
And then that happened.
Why am I a fan of shootouts?
Listen, man, I was just listening to the podcast and someone asked a question saying, like,
what would have made that final better?
You're like, well, maybe some shootouts, right?
I'm my God.
Jesus, Castro?
Casp are fucking coming from back.
Man, we'll jump into this game more.
And I love your insight.
This guy's did his research.
Absolutely dialed.
What other sports are you fan of?
What's your sports fandom?
And who are your teams?
It's obviously football, number one, football.
And then maybe do we have football Americano?
Do we have basketball?
Do we have baseball?
Maybe.
Football, that's funny.
I like football, right?
I'm a big fan of golf, too.
I feel like that's my latest itch.
But all sports, man, all sports.
We've got the boys in the studio.
We always have all sports from women's sports
to high school soccer.
I mean, you name it, we watch it.
And because I've been in sports my whole life,
yeah, all of them, dude.
What did you play?
Soccer.
In high school?
I played, that's where I peaked, right?
That's where I, I don't know why she just laughed, right?
Because she's like, that's so funny.
You know, she just made fun of you.
No, I was a captain of my high school soccer team, right?
But, yeah, I've been playing since three, club soccer.
And then, yeah.
Are you Bears fan?
I am a Chicago Bears fan, man.
Caleb?
Big Caleb's fan.
Got a lot of his rookie cards.
Oh, yeah.
So you're a big card guy?
Yeah, yeah.
Are your collectives?
Yeah, so for the last 10 years, I've been live streaming on Twitch.
Yeah.
Right?
And it's mainly been me entertaining while playing FIFA, which I know you're a big fan of, right?
And then after that, I kind of diversified a little bit, and I opened up a sports card collecting e-commerce, you know, website, brand.
and it's essentially where we break cards,
we ship them to customers,
and there's a lot of nice Caleb William cards out there.
Heck, yeah.
Have you seen Brady in the vault?
I have.
Is there any cross-pollination with that?
How does that work?
Yeah, so they actually invited us in Dallas
to go to their storefront,
and we pulled up and, you know,
we shot some content and stuff like that,
but we're more online-based.
Awesome.
Yeah, I follow that, and that's pretty cool
what they're doing.
A lot of, you know, ex-athletes,
soccer players are getting more into it. And I feel like, you know, I don't want to, you know,
take credit for anything, but the transition from the Twitch gaming side of things into the
sports card, you know, we, we almost feel like we trailblazed it because we knew the entertainment
side of Twitch and live streaming. But we kind of wanted to revolutionize how people, you know,
sold cards or, you know, open cards. And that's something that I did for the last 10 years. So we added more
mics. We added nice cameras. We put on a show. It felt like a podcast while we're ripping these cards.
So shout out to the cash to collects boys. But yeah, it was. That's, I mean, it's so big right now.
Oh, yeah. We do fanatics fest. And just the collectibles. I always used to love trading cards.
When I was a kid, you get it with the stale bubble gum and the baseball cards, a football cards.
It's been really cool to see it with the new generation, which you're helping with that. Because
one of the huge communication platforms out there nowadays is Twitch.
And speaking of Twitch,
you're an insane FIFA player.
I love FIFA.
Who's the FIFA squad that you have,
if you have a must-win game, you're playing with?
Manchester United.
Your boys,
I like them too.
You want to know why?
Because they're not so high-rated in the game.
Yeah.
But I like to be good with them, right?
And I know that if I come up against anyone,
and if I pick Real Madrid, which is a strong team,
I'm going to smoke you.
But if I beat you with United,
now it's kind of like level a little bit, right?
I've been playing with Man City lately.
I like Holland.
He's a tank, man.
I just throw it up in there, let him finishes.
You got fast guys on the outside, the wings.
I forget my team name.
I'm not as dialed as I once was.
I've been playing a lot of clubs lately.
So that's why I play.
Pro clubs?
Pro clubs with my best friends.
There's no way you're on pro clubs.
Yeah, we do clubs all day.
You have your own character and everything?
My own character.
And he's high rated and all that?
Well, we're trying to work those ratings.
I'm about, you know, we're working that.
I'm trying to get, what is it?
You're trying to unlock the different traits.
I'm unlocking.
What is it?
Flay.
No, anger, no.
What's the third?
I forget, but I'm getting there.
Okay.
I'm a right wing.
So do you build your character kind of like your real life character was?
Yeah.
I mean, I'm 5'10.
I didn't, I didn't want, I kept my weight a little down because in soccer.
Okay.
You got to be a little faster and have that the lungs.
So, you know, my guess is about 168, 172, depending on the day, water weight.
Okay.
We're hitting speed, quickness, agility.
We're all there.
We're working on our long pass.
Our game is pretty much speed, cut, cross up to my big dog,
Benz in the middle and chemo and the, got to have the play in the other team.
So, you know, FIFA is such a great way for athletes or video.
game in general, A, to stay out of trouble.
B, to communicate with the kids I've been playing video games with for 25 years.
And so these are the high school kids I grew up playing with.
And we find time maybe twice, three times a week to get on and play clubs.
That's so awesome, man.
You know, that's how I met a lot of my friends in the footballing world, right?
Some boys that, you know, play for Manchester United.
I got, you know, the blessing to meet them.
and, you know, that's what they all say
is that they travel. They've got these
you know, luggage cases with an Xbox
or PlayStation inside.
And they take them to the hotels and all they're doing
is gaming. And I'm like, that is genius.
Oh, yeah. Like I said, it's
a great way to communicate with friends.
Keeps you out of the streets.
You know what I mean? There's so
many distractions from
life when you're
a professional in anything. When you have
something that kind of holds you in,
you get to just sit there.
it's a great form of rebooting for me.
Absolutely. And it's fun too.
When you look at the game, right, you see how realistic it is.
It is.
Right? And you're just like, man, it almost feels like I'm in the game, right?
But say you were to work for FIFA, you were like the president and you could change a
couple things from the game.
Well, it's FC now, whatever it is.
What are some things you're changing from the game?
Well, listen, I am, I was fully deep in the, you know, competitive side of the game.
It's called Ultimate Team, where I'm opening a,
up digital packs. I'm putting my squad together. And then I'm going on line to play some of the
best players around the world. And I'm trying to hit the top rank, right? I'm trying to get,
you know, 30 and no, 20 and no games in a row without losing. And once you unlock that level,
it becomes super competitive. And as we've seen throughout the past maybe five or so years,
there's a lot of AI involvement now. Right. And that's when you get to see all the glitches.
You know what I'm saying? And so what I'm saying? And so what I'm
I would do is I would probably tone that a little bit, right, just to make it a little more fair,
but I know it's hard because coding a video game is, I mean, man, I can only imagine how difficult
that is.
So that's one of the reasons why I always try to stay away from the competitive side of gaming
and lean towards the entertainment side, right?
Which is what I'm essentially kind of known for.
And that's what I love to do the most.
But yeah, man, I would probably, you know, tweak that a little bit or potentially.
potentially make it an open world like Grand Theft Auto where you have your own character on
pro clubs. Then you can go and train and then you've got a story mode. I know NBA 2K does a really
good job of that. So probably lean towards that too. I like that. Now break us down a day in the
life of a streamer. No, I want to know like how do you get ready for your workday? Yeah. Is there a routine
you have before? Do you, you know, you have a team that maybe gets you right?
now, but back in the day, were you doing your own camera settings?
Were you taking everything serious?
Were you eating different?
Did you plot out a certain amount of time for the day that you were streaming?
Did you know what specific hours were best streaming?
Like, how is a day in a life of a streamer?
Yeah, so listen, that's a fantastic question.
And I don't know if anyone's ever asked me that before, but, you know, you're going to find
out that it's a bit, it can be a bit unhealthy, right?
So I'd wake up maybe like 7 a.m.
I wouldn't eat.
Right. I'd say goodbye to my wife, although I was just going to the room next door.
See you, babe. I'll see you later. Right. And I would, I would, I would sit there and game for
eight to 12 hours a day. Right. And what was different about me is that I had the highest of highest
energies. I'm one of those OGs that was just like, man, if people are going to tune in to
watch me, I got to make it as most entertaining as I possibly can. It's being loud. It's,
It's, you know, just never know dead airspace is what I'm talking about.
And people love that, right?
And I think they could relate to it because I feel like I, because I've been playing soccer
for so long, I knew a lot about the real world game and it translates into the video game.
We're looking for In For Messey cards.
We're opening packs.
We're playing the game.
We're building teams based on who's performing well in real life.
And so I'm doing that for eight to 12 hours a day.
And it started blowing up.
and I would look at my wife and I was like, man, this is, this is a lot of money.
Let's do something with this.
So this is where I started running charity live streams.
And that's one of the things I'm most, you know, I guess happy for that that I did that
because we ultimately raised over, I think, a million dollars.
Let's go.
And of me just sitting there, no sleep for 50 hours.
I wouldn't shut it off.
I did a 24-hour one.
I did a 50-hour one.
The longest one I did without sleeping or even showering was 72 hours.
How many milligrams of caffeine?
Man, I was downing at the time.
I don't know what the company called, but I was sponsored by the company.
And I was just, dude, I was down in like two of those a day.
And obviously it worked.
400 milligrams.
But again, that goes towards the, you know, it's a bit unhealthy.
But an average, you know, eight hour day, I'd go on, you know, eight hours.
I'd come off.
Obviously, I was exhausted, right?
Because it's everyone thinks, like, it's just sitting there playing video games.
well, it's like, no, I'm actually like trying to, you know,
entertain and talk a lot.
My voice was always gone.
It was always raspy and all that stuff.
But it was awesome because it brought the community together, right?
And ultimately, I think that that was my purpose was to give people an escape from the real world
and sit there and hopefully learn something or just be entertained and, you know.
Yeah.
Now, how do you know you have to?
a good stream at the end. Because like after I'm done with my work, you know, or this now
or football when I was playing, I'd have like a debrief session after with, you know, some of the
people, either teammates, people that I work with here. And you sit and you debrief everything.
Like, man, how do you think it was? Was it a good one?
Shit, although there's this one play. Well, there's this one question. Well, we didn't get,
you know what I mean? Is there like a, is there a period of that after?
Yeah, I think...
How do you know you got a good stream?
Well, I think, number one, if I didn't break any controllers, I was cool.
If I didn't crash out, I was cool.
And yeah, I would just...
I would sit there, like you said, and self-reflect a little bit.
And I'd be like, all right, like, how was the energy in the room, in the chat?
How were they towards me?
How was I towards them?
And I always try to be as positive as I could be, because no one wants to sit there and watch someone that's, you know, angry or upset or whatnot.
So I would sit there and reflect.
and I would just tell myself like, you know what, that was good.
There were some days where I was just like, man, that was, that was fucking amazing.
Right. And those were typically the days where, you know, we would raise a lot of money for various charities and stuff like that.
But yeah, man, it was, it's a little self-reflecting.
Do you ever rewatch the Twitch?
Never.
I've never, listen, man, this is crazy to say, but in 13 years that I've been in this industry,
I've never rewatched a stream.
I've never rewatched a YouTube video.
I've never done any of that.
Yeah. Man, so there's got to be something because you're self-reflecting that your audience loves that you hate doing.
What is it?
My, well, crashing out.
They find it as entertainment, right?
You know, and you could tell that they mess with you in the chat.
And they're like, oh, I'm going to say this and see if he chucks that controller.
And at first, man, you know, it was almost like I was a rookie at it.
Maybe it gets to you a comment here and there.
But then I'm like, ah, I know you guys are trolling me, man.
So I'd go back and forth with it, but I think just, I never wanted to be angry.
I don't want to do that.
But yeah, there's things in there that people say.
Obviously, it's an open world, man.
It's the internet.
That's crazy.
But one thing that I want to, I guess, kind of touch on is one time I had one of the
worst things happened to me, bro.
All right.
And you're not going to believe this, but I was coming towards the end of a long stream.
And my wife had just left.
She went to Costco or something.
something. And I had my headset on and I'm sitting there gaming, right? And this was maybe nine years ago.
And all of a sudden, my phone was always on my desk and it says, answer the phone from my wife.
And I'm like, what the hell? The next thing you know, I get a call. And I have my headset on. And every time I
was going to answer a call, I would mute my mic. If I muted my mic really quick, I answered the phone.
And they're like, stand up and start walking backwards.
And I was like, oh, I know what's going on.
So I had the phone.
I grabbed my left hand and I end the stream.
Close it down.
I get up.
And then I put it on speakerphone, take off my headset.
And you can kind of see where like the pan,
if you go back and watch the Vod or you can kind of see me end my stream a little weird.
So anyways, I ended the stream.
I have my phone.
And I'm like this.
And I'm like, yes.
And they're like, okay, walk down.
I'm on the second floor.
walk down your house backwards.
Once you get out of your house, keep walking backwards.
Turn right to the stop sign.
Do it all backwards.
And I'm like, oh, okay.
So I do all that.
And I look like a weirdo doing it, right?
I finally get to the stop sign.
I turn it around.
There's lasers pointed out my chest.
There's guys behind trees with shotguns, rifles.
They're all behind like, you know, squat it up.
It's the SWAT team.
And I'm like, oh, God.
So I'm like walking slowly.
towards them.
They're giving me instructions.
I'm following all the instructions.
Someone had called and said that I,
dude,
beheaded my wife.
I had people hostage,
all this stuff.
And it was scary as hell.
Yeah.
Because I'm like,
man,
what if my phone slips?
And I've got a red dot on my chest.
Like,
I'm,
I'm,
I'm,
I told him.
I was like,
I know what's going on.
I think I'm being swatted.
Um,
I'm sorry.
And then,
I looked at my
I have cameras inside the house
and my dogs are like in their
little crate or whatnot
these dudes are walking in
with just shotguns and rifles and stuff
I get it
it's protocol
someone called and they had to
you know do it
yeah
because what if it was true
you know what I'm saying
yeah
I mean that's the crazy thing
about being
yeah
on the internet
yeah
for like you know what I mean
and it's probably
just some kid
fucking with you
it was they did say
it was someone
from like
Birmingham or England or something like that.
Oh, wow. Yeah, yeah.
So we got bots.
We got bots calling in swats.
So, yeah, that was calling in swats, baby.
Man. That was scary.
Only one swat and all those years, though?
I mean, dude, see, the ones that I like is when they call them.
How do they know where you live? That's, yeah.
I mean, dude, if you do enough research, I think you can. I don't know, man.
I don't know. That's not the only time.
The one time, see, this is what they need to start doing, right?
They ordered like 25 pizzas to my parents' house.
And I'm like, oh, hell yeah.
And then I opened the door.
They didn't pay for it.
So I was like, oh, yeah.
I ended up paying for it, but.
I hope there were.
Domino's pizzas.
Jeez.
The day of their life.
Yeah, no, it was.
It was.
Dominoes.
Now, we got to do a little 2026 World Cup preview.
Oh, yeah.
Let's go.
So what are your thoughts on this new format?
More teams, right?
Which, in my opinion, can maybe lessen the group's
stage hype a little bit, right? But, man, more soccer for me, the better. We'll be right back
after this quick break. Pride is like love. You feel it in your heart. I-R. Radio, Canada's

I mean, it's kind of like when they expand the college football playoff.
I mean, more teams more games.
Of course.
And I think it's great for the World Cup because you're getting more countries involved.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
And I do hope that you see some of those, you know, countries that maybe you don't think
will advance. I hope they do advance. Everybody
loves a dark horse story, right?
Well, how about our dark horse? What about the United States
of America? Are they going to have any shot of doing
any dirt in this?
Listen, I honestly, I think
they've got the group of death, personally,
right? You've got Turkey.
Those are alphas, man. Those are strong,
strong boys. And then you
also have Australia, which is
one of those. Maybe they're the weaker teams.
And then they've got
Paraguay.
Right. South American team. I mean,
they can ball
they're strong but
I reckon
they're going to get out of the group stage
and I hope they do
right I hope they do
well they haven't had a win
in the elimination stage
since like 94 or something
yeah it's been
you know and then
it's got it we got to get it going
everyone keeps on talking about the youth
or something the youth sports and the development
of it I don't know yeah I think
it's a it's a combination of many things
right obviously the the
the youth, I think player development is important.
I also think that one of the things that I can relate to is that that age from 16, 17, and
18, I feel like a lot of kids maybe get lost in that in that age group, right?
At least I did, right?
You know, that's when you're starting to drive, you girls, whatnot.
So maybe.
Yeah, man, maybe focusing up a little bit in that age or having, you know, advise it and stuff.
So which nation's going to surprise us the most, do you think, out of this?
Oh, you know, okay, so this is something that I've, I've really thought of.
So they're implementing AI into this World Cup, right?
Obviously, the previous one that had VAR and all that stuff.
I mean, I thought we just wanted to eliminate AI from FIFA.
Now we're going to, we're putting it in.
Well, no, but like just, you know, the technical stuff.
And I believe that it'll be a nation who, you know, focuses on that.
I think Japan.
To keep it short, Japan.
Let's go Japan.
Ooh, I like that.
Right.
Disciplined.
Right?
Discipline.
Quick.
Probably technically sound.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, who do you think?
Who do you think is going to...
For me?
Who's a dark horse?
For me...
Italy didn't even make it, did they?
Didn't even make it, bro.
You were looking for Italy in their...
No, but I wanted to give them because...
But I forgot they didn't...
Yeah, they didn't qualify.
I'm gonna go with...
Go Haiti.
I like this.
I think Haiti.
They got some ballers.
Okay.
Got out the Haitians.
Let's go.
And Marra.
I like what they did last,
what are they, they were in the final.
Final four last year.
Yeah, they were in the final four last year.
You know, I like to see what they build off of that.
Maybe get a little confidence.
Oh, yeah.
Gain a couple, little 14-year-olds back then
that turned into studs now.
Absolutely.
That's what's so fun about the World Cup.
You get to watch some of these young,
unknown players get to play with, you know,
the stud players from the match.
Matchups, man. The matchups. The young ins, too, they get an opportunity. This is, this is their time to shine, right?
Who's your favorite young player you think is going to ball out? Well, I mean, listen, obviously, Lamin Yamal is a young player and he's one of the best, if not the best right now. So I think him in Spain, man, they're going to, they're going to pop off. I think they could potentially reach the final.
There's also, uh, what team's he on? He's on Spain. Barcelona. Barcelona. There's only 18. It's unbelievable.
That guy's been killing it, hasn't he? He's unreal.
man. He's the closest thing I think
we have had since maybe like
a Ronaldo deino or
maybe a messy.
Ronaldinho. A little banged up right now, but he'll be right. I'm sure you know about
Dino, right? Of course I do. Brazil, right?
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
You're going to watch that new doc. I want to be in all the damn commercials.
Oh, the new documentary is good. Yeah, I haven't seen it
yet. It's on my list. But I just remember
seeing Ronaldino and all the Nike commercials.
And I guess they
I saw a thing behind it that
it only be one take. He would just do that
messing around and then, bop. Yeah.
It'd be done.
They'd have to like AI me or something.
It's kind of, I'd be there for like 18 hours trying to do the same trick.
You've been to Brazil?
I have been to Brazil.
How cool is it when you're walking down the beaches of Rio?
Everyone's doing the volleyball with.
Everyone is doing it.
They don't even use volleyball with their hands.
That's what I'm saying, man.
So they're insanely skilled.
That's what I'm saying.
In these countries, Brazil, Argentina, you're born with the ball.
It's in your blood, right?
It's like their concept is find talent first.
and then we'll worry about the money later, right?
And I think that's something that, like out here, man,
and I get kicked out.
Like, if I go to the pitch, right, to just kick the ball around,
they're going to kick me off the field because don't mess up the grass.
You know what I'm saying?
Out there, it's like, no, dude, it's almost like you have to be picking the ball around.
So, yeah, Brazil, man.
They're different out there, bro.
Now, who's going to win the Golden Glove?
Golden Glove, goalkeepers, man.
Ooh.
I'm going to be biased and say lamins for Bellamy.
Belgium, right?
Belgians are always...
They're always pretty good goalies.
Could you imagine, though, it becomes Guillermo Ochoa.
Dude, for Mexico?
Is he coming back? Yeah, they just announced that he's coming back.
Bro, unbelievable.
I think he's like 41, 42.
It wouldn't be a reflection.
It wouldn't be any sort of Mexico international game, but weren't with Ochoa, man.
Exactly.
He's a staple.
He's a staple.
How's Mexico going to do?
I, listen, I personally, I think they're going to do well.
I think they've got, you know, a few players.
that have been popping off on Chivas
in the first division of Mexico.
And they've got a mixture of young ins with
Hilberto Mora and some experienced players
like Edson Alvarez.
I think they're going to do well.
I think they're going to be okay.
I miss Chichita to you.
Peace, bro.
My guy.
Speaking of man, you, baby, legend.
He's a cool guy, man.
All right. Last question before we get in this game.
Who's taken the World Cup?
2026 World Cup.
Oh, man.
Listen.
Just give me,
give me your top three
that you think
and we'll do like a little if this is horse racing
you can go win place third
all right I'm done with that
I'm gonna go with my number one pick
France
France France
Bappe
Bappe not just Mbpe
who else
they've got Olyse
they've got Usman Dembele
who's probably the best player in the world
right now right
I mean they're stacked
their back line is stacked with Cundez
Salaiba oh my goodness man
I don't know who's going to
get past that France name.
On paper, they're unbelievable.
Unbelievable.
Who's someone that could get them, though?
Who's someone that can get them?
That's not on paper, but in real life, not AI.
My goat, Ronaldo.
Really?
Portugal.
Portugal?
Maybe you're Portugal, yeah, yeah.
Let's go.
How cool.
We talk about scripts.
We're about to get into the game where messy.
Last World Cup.
He wins it.
And then what if Ronaldo comes?
Ronald already has one, doesn't he?
He doesn't. He's got a Euro.
He's got a Euro Cup.
Now, just a heads-up,
if Argentina and Portugal
both win their group, they could
match up against each other
in the quarterfinals.
So you'd see the ultimate final
last dance, Messi versus Ronaldo.
Now, how bad does FIFA want that to happen?
Oh, man, I think the entire planet wants it to happen.
That might break the rating.
Oh, yeah, bro.
Oh, yeah, I agree.
I mean, there's like,
800 million people that follow those two people on social media alone.
How lucky are we, the year 2026, we get both of them still.
Obviously, they're not in their, you know, prime, but I mean, man.
Let's go.
Name brand, baby.
It's name brand right there.
That's what we all want to see.
Let's see it.
I'm so excited for this 26 World Cup.
It's going to be fun here in the United States in Mexico, in Canada, North America hosting.
Nothing more exciting.
nothing more exciting.
More games, maybe.
I'm about to start doing push-ups.
Is it cool if I just started doing push-ups here?
You can pump a quick 10.
You can pump a quick 10.
All right, let's go back into time
where the game took place
and we like to go over
what was happening in the real world,
the other world, the pop culture world.
This game took place December 18th,
2022.
Number one movie, Avatar,
The Way of the Water.
Terrified my daughter.
She was not a fan of it as much.
She was a little scared.
Those blue guys.
Those blue guys.
She was what?
Seven at that time probably.
Yeah, she didn't like it.
Freak me out too.
How about Mariah Carey?
This was four years ago.
She's still rocking number one song all I want for Christmas.
She owns December.
She owns December.
What's another one probably?
It owns December?
I mean, it's got to be like some other Bing Crosby type Christmas.
But Mariah, man.
Oh, Mariah.
It's like clockwork.
Chiefs win the Super Bowl.
Pat Mahomes.
MVP Caleb Chicago Bear.
Yes, sir.
Gets the Heisman at USC.
What else happens?
This is a crazy NFL time, too.
Oh, this was the day when
New England lost to Las Vegas
and I lost my over under $50,000 bet.
Eight and a half wins.
Eight and a half wins.
That was it right there.
Oh, we watched it slip away.
This was painful.
This was a painful time for me,
but how was this time for you?
What were you like, Castro, in 2022?
2020.
Well, I spent a,
month in Qatar. How was that? For the World Cup. I know. You know? And, and, well, you know,
obviously there was a lot of talk before going into the World Cup about Qatar and how it's going to be and people
can't drink and yada, yada, yada. So I told my wife, I'm like, hey, let's go. I think something big is
going to happen, right? I think, you know, either Messi or Rinalda, we're going to win the whole thing.
Let's go spend a month out there. We had a lot of cool opportunities with brands. And we went to a lot
of games, almost all of them. And then Messi ended up winning the, uh, the World Cup. And we were
row one. So I mean, I couldn't ask for anything more. I mean, this is a great time. How was the
streaming world for you right now? So how many years deep are you in the streaming world in
2022? In 2022, I think I was about maybe eight, eight years or so. But it was transitioning more from
from gaming to IRL, right? We were walking the streets of guitar, meeting people. I made a,
a character of our Uber driver. And people, people loved him, man. His name.
was Abdullah. He took us everywhere. He knew all the
shortcuts. So we were, you know,
on the streets of Qatar, just showing the
world what it was like and people loved it, man.
They were, you know, we would go to the, you know,
tailgating per se. And then
yeah, man, we,
we killed it out there. The numbers were great.
People are asking me now if I'm going to do the same thing for the
2026 World Cup. And so we're thinking of
getting an RV and traveling to all the
stadiums. I mean, that would be, you
that would be lit.
I bet you the crowd or
what do you guys call it, the crowd?
Who do you call your fans?
Or like, your chat.
Man, I'm unct status right now.
What's up, Chad?
What's up, Chad?
What's up, Chad?
Yeah, wow.
All right, what's a Mount Rushmore video games?
Uh, man, I'd go with FIFA
13.
Ooh, 13?
FIFA 13, right?
That's the one that I first started, uh, streaming on.
And then I'd go with Super Smash brothers.
Super Smash is huge.
Right.
And then.
And then I think my last one, I'd probably go with Crystal version on the Game Boy, Pokemon.
Pokemon.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then I don't want to, I don't want to say any games on the Game Gear because that's going to make me sound a little old.
But the game gear was pretty cool.
You got one more though.
One more video game.
Let's go with San Andreas, GTA.
GTA.
Oh, yeah.
So we got a Mario in there.
Yep.
Super Smash.
Well, balance.
Well balance.
Well balance.
All right.
Let's jump into this game.
Jackie, break down these teams.
Should we get on these Argentinians first real quick?
All right.
Let's get on these guys.
Two-time World Cup champs entering this World Cup, 78, 86 with Maradona.
Who can forget that?
Coming into this thing, the world ranking was third in the world.
Lost to Flans in the round of 16 back in 2018.
So looking for a little revenge out there.
This was the first World Cup under Scoloni.
best squad they had pretty much in years,
entered this thing on a 36-game win streak.
I mean, you know the names.
Messi, Alvarez, Di Maria, Fernandez, Moline.
I mean, the squad was stacked.
What do you remember of this team?
What do I remember of this team?
Is that they all grouped together
to win the World Cup for Messi.
That was on their agenda.
That was their purpose was to win the World Cup for Messi.
obviously in 2018, no, 2014, I believe, against Germany.
They lost an extra time, right?
And you can only imagine how that was.
So they won the Cop America, and then I think their purpose for 2022 was to win it for Messi.
So you look at that roster, who are the guys that you're circling that helped do that?
Oh, man, Di Maria.
Di Maria.
Emiliano Martinez, the gokeeper.
If it wasn't for him making his save against Colomouani and the extra,
time, France would be champs.
He made an insane, insane save.
Unbelievable.
Now, is Messi the goat over Ronaldo?
We're going to go there, Julian?
We're going there.
I mean, we're going there.
Listen, man, I think I'm a big Ronaldo fan, right?
But, and everyone has their, you know, debates or their moments on when the, when the debate
actually ended.
And it really just depends on what you value in the game, right?
So I don't know why you're laughing at me
But listen, yeah, I think that Messi
At what though?
Is he better than him as an athlete?
Because Ronaldo as an athlete is probably
Greatest fault time.
Greatest.
Go, who's, who?
He doesn't stop staring at me, man.
Who?
I mean, listen, Ronaldo did it in, in the Premier League,
in the Syria,
in La Liga, right?
In Saudi.
I mean, he's still doing it.
What about Messi, though?
No, listen, I think Ronaldo is the definition of,
of obsession, right?
But Messi is supernatural.
You know, God-given abilities.
You know, what he can do with the football is just unheard of, unseen of.
And I mean, I don't think the World Cup ended the debate per se.
I think it happened maybe in 2011 when Messi put up, I think, over 100 goal contributions.
But everyone kind of, you know, chooses when it ended for them.
Some people like to argue 2017, 2018,
when he won four Champions Leagues in five, five seasons was, you know, or Ballone de Oos as well,
but we all know that's somewhat of PR, but yeah, no, I mean, it's crazy to think about.
I mean, it's, you can go down any wormhole.
Exactly.
Either direction.
I mean, I think we're all just lucky to get to watch both of them at the same time.
That's the correct answer. That's the cool thing.
You know, at least we get to watch them at the same time.
You know, in other sports, you can't really do that.
you hear Jordan LeBron, you'll never see that.
Yeah.
But man, it's been a treat, especially with the growth of soccer in the United States.
You know, I think they've been a huge part of that because there's so big internationally that, like,
everyone in here is like, damn, we know that guy too.
You know what I mean?
So, have you been to Argentina?
I have not been to Argentina.
I have not been to Argentina.
I've been to Argentina at stakehouses in Mexico, but I mean, I don't think that counts, right?
No, yeah.
Close.
Yeah, close.
Close.
The milneessa.
One of my best friends is Argentina and his mom makes him a melnesea sandwich with
every day.
Milanisa is good stuff.
Man, breaded, right?
Yeah, breaded and a little beef and they thin it out.
They put a little Swiss on there, little mayo on a French roll.
Oh, shut out, Mrs. Drew.
Saddle.
Mrs. O'Yola.
What do you think about Argentina going in this 2026 one?
Listen, I still think they have a very strong team.
Juliana Alvarez is, you know, on five.
fire right now, right? And they've got, again, a mixture of some of these young ins with experienced
players. They obviously know what it takes to go all the way and win it. I think they're going to
maybe go semifinals, right? But then I think they'll get matched up with, you know, a powerhouse
like Spain or France and that's it. But imagine if he goes back to back, though.
What if he goes? Unbelief. Has anyone done that? Has anyone gone back to back? I don't think so.
I don't think. Maybe Brazil? He goes back to back.
go.
I just say, I don't know.
Let's get into France.
Let's get into France.
Italy, Italy 34 and 38, Brazil, 58, 62, it looks like.
Wow.
In the back, right.
No one in our lifetimes.
Man, Brazil.
That's insane.
I got a question for you.
If Rinaldo were to win the World Cup, is ego or not?
For me, I don't know enough of the sport to have an opinion on it.
Okay.
I look at both of them and I'm infatuated with their craft,
how they take their craft.
Ronaldo, like you said, is very obsessed.
I was with a guy like that named Tom Brady,
who was obsessed with his craft,
who was obsessed with nothing but just doing the best he can possibly do on the field.
Messi, like you said, he just naturally looks like it's effortless to him.
and he just turns it on, hits different gears,
and he's a smaller frame,
and it's not as, you know,
like when you look at Ronaldo, you're like,
holy shit, that guy looks like he's supposed to be Superman.
You look at like Messi, he's like David, man,
David versus Goliath,
and this guy knocks out the Goliath every time, you know?
So it's just so fun to get to watch him.
So I don't have a go.
Yeah, interesting.
You don't have a good.
I basically said a whole lot of shit for nothing right there.
No, but it's true, though, man.
They pushed each other.
They pushed each other.
And would Messi's legendary career be what it is
if it wasn't for Ronaldo, right?
Like, you know, they kind of just...
They still are, I think.
I think they're still going at it.
Yeah.
Let's jump into France.
Let's get in the blue here.
World ranking fourth coming into this thing.
Two-time World Cup champs,
98 and 2018, which means they were the defending champs coming into this.
You remember they beat Croatia in the World Cup final 2018.
Coming off a little bit of a disappointment in the Euro championships.
a round of 16 lost to Switzerland there.
And then got bounced in the group stage
for the last five World Cups
besides the one they won,
which is kind of surprising looking back on it.
Interred without some key guys.
Pago was out. Benzimo was out.
But no, I mean, this was, again, a stack squad.
Mbapé, Giroud, Hernandez,
just to name if you like.
Olivier Jarou.
I mean, this was a France squad
that was pretty much thought
as a contender to win this thing entering.
We'll be right back after this quick break.

Iheart Radio.
Give us the T of this France squad.
This one right here.
Yeah, this specific France squad.
I mean, man, they were stacked, right?
Usman Dumbullet, Antoine Griseman, Giroud,
who isn't really known as like one of those insane strikers for club,
but for the national team, man, he was always there starting.
And he would always score.
He was an arsenal here, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, look at your ball knowledge.
Let's go, man.
Let's go, man.
We play FIFA, man.
That's how I learned.
So I mean, yeah, man, they've got, they've got a great, what's good about France is they're really stacked always defensively.
They got some big dudes back there, right? So to score on them ain't easy. And obviously you've got the new generational players which are Mbapé, those young ins, man. I mean, those guys are trying to make their story already has a World Cup. And yeah, it's going to be, it's going to be interesting to see how, how bad they beat certain countries in my opinion.
Who's your favorite French player of all time?
My favorite French player of all time.
Man, what a question.
What a question.
I'm going to throw one at you see if you know this guy.
Frank Ribbery.
Ooh.
I don't know him.
He was a winger.
He was a winger.
He was a winger.
You're giving me the teams.
Byron Munich.
I think I do know him.
He played alongside.
There you go.
You do know, man.
I love Robin too.
He's a fast.
He's fast.
Yeah, yeah.
They both were, man.
And they both had that silky five-star skills.
Who were they hitting it?
They were at LeMondowski.
Yeah.
Or Hittonel.
And who was the Mooler?
Yeah, Gerard Mueller.
He's still playing too.
Yeah, he's in the MLS with, I think, Toronto.
Man.
So that was my era, man, watching those guys play, Scarface, Ribbri.
That was my guy.
What a pool.
What a pool, bro.
Those Byron teams on FIFA were so fun to play with.
I love your ball knowledge because of FIFA.
That's so awesome.
That's honestly how I learn soccer.
Bro, that's how I know a lot of these countries is because seeing their flags all the time.
I'm like, yo.
But, yeah.
That's how I teach my kid.
I go and I'll play FIFA night before the game.
Then I'm like, we got to do this.
You got to get this space.
Hey, I need you over here.
No, but, uh, did you ever try playing ball?
Like, soccer?
I played from four to eight.
Oh, so yeah.
I played four years of soccer before I could play football.
If you were, if you were to play a position in soccer, what position do you think?
I probably would have been a, like, a midfielder that or like probably a center mid.
Center mid?
Midfield, maybe a wing.
I'd probably
you get around contact, strong, lower body
quicker than fast.
Yeah.
Yeah, a little center mid,
center defensive mid.
Maybe a cam.
Cam, right?
Probably a cam.
A little petherty.
I see that.
What did you play?
What did I play?
I, uh, the bench.
No, I'm just joking.
Captain, bro.
Get out of here.
Come on.
You're the cast.
No, I played left wing.
Nice.
Wing, left mid.
That was my role.
Uh, yeah, at the time I had speed.
I'm left footed.
So I was just crossed it
to the big boy, kind of like you do on pro clubs.
Hell yeah. And yeah, I was always
right. That's why I play right wing. That's right.
And on assist. So yeah, left, left wing, left mid.
Amazing. All right, Jack, you get us in the lead up.
All right, let's get in the lead up of this game. Argentina came out of group C.
That was Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland.
And like we mentioned earlier in this episode,
an opening round loss. First game to Saudi Arabia.
Unheard of. The Saudis are going nuts in the streets.
I mean, all the guys are getting Bentley's, whatever, Rolls Royces is awarded.
They went in something crazy like that.
So then they get back on track,
win in the round of 16,
beat Australia,
beat the Netherlands in the quarterfinals and PKs,
then in the semis beat Croatia 3-0.
They're right back in it.
The ship has been written all good.
Group D for France came out of that bad boy,
beat Poland in the round of 16, 3 to 1.
Quarterfinals, beat England.
That was another great game.
And then in the semis, beat Morocco,
two nothing to advance to the finals here.
And then we got to mention also,
This was a World Cup played in the fall, winter.
Whoa.
Crazy.
They're usually in, because it's so hot.
Oh, yeah.
How hot was it there?
It was so hot.
It was unbearable, man.
It was middle of the desert.
This is hot.
Even December 18th.
How hot?
Hot, man.
I'm talking like hundreds.
Dry heat?
Yeah.
Dry, dry, dry.
So dry.
Desert, bro.
Yeah.
I mean, could you imagine?
Just, oh.
No.
I mean, that's heat.
And you were there a month too, right?
Yeah, we were there a month.
How was it food?
The food?
Listen.
I'm a fan, bro. I'm a fan. I'm a big fan.
I'm not picky whatsoever.
I'm at great restaurants, right?
Yeah, yeah. A lot of money out there.
A lot of Turkish food, you know, kebabs and all that.
Oh, baby. Oh, yeah. Good stuff.
Now, spicy food. I like spicy food.
What games did you go to out there? You didn't go to mall, right?
I didn't go to the mall. I followed the U.S. so I went to U.S. Iran.
And then I went to Netherlands, Argentina.
I went to the Mexico games. I went to the Brazil game where Rich Charleston scored a bicycle cake.
Oh shit. Got to see that. That was pretty cool.
But obviously the most memorable ones were
Portugal as well. I got to see Ronaldo play.
Where the Argentina Netherlands,
Argentina, Croatia, and then the final.
That's so sick. I mean, you were there for a month.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. What was it distance like between venues?
So listen, we actually managed to go to two games in one day.
Whoa. Right? It just, it was perfect timing. 30 minutes.
That's crazy.
Are you live streaming the whole time?
No, once you get inside the stadium, you can't because you get, you know, copyright and all that stuff.
But once the game would end, we would turn the stream on, travel to the next game, and then turn it off.
And then I would just go on social media and post from there.
And yeah, man, I mean, for the final, it was mental because, whof.
How was the stadium?
They were nice.
They were nice.
A Luce Stadium, the final stadium was beautiful.
But you could definitely see that some of them were a bit rushed to make.
So, you know, there was one that was like the container stadium.
I mean, you could see quite literally the containers and all that.
But yeah, they were nice.
Nothing like out here, though.
Yeah.
What was the atmosphere?
Were people, was the crowd in tune to it?
So during the knockout stage, absolutely.
But you did see a lot of, how do I say this?
A lot of locals as well that were maybe given like free tickets for some of the games, right?
But man, there was a lot of countries that traveled extremely well.
Mexico being one of them.
There was a lot of U.S. fans.
Argentinians are by far the ones that travel the most, I think.
And then obviously the Brazilian.
too. Now, who's a country you think would be an awesome host country that's never hosted?
An awesome host country that's never hosted? Oh, man. I think the U.S. is going to be great.
I know people are saying what they want to say, but I think the U.S. is going to be fantastic,
especially with some of these stadiums where they're lifting the pitch. I don't know you've seen
Cowboy Stadium and what they're doing there. They're making it, they're lifting it up so that
they're getting rid of all the on-field suites
so that it looks like a Premier League game.
You ever watch a Premier League game where like the
first row is right by the sidelines?
Oh, baby. It's going to look real sick.
They just put out, they just put out a
clip of how they're lifting it up.
You know how it's weak?
That the international soccer guys,
anytime they play in our stadiums,
whether they're grass or not,
they have to play on grass.
And our NFL owners
won't make all our grass.
all our stadium's grass.
Really? Yeah. It's like a big thing right now.
Yeah. The big things. Because like when like I remember going to, you know,
Argentina played a friendly against Brazil and I got to meet Namar and Messi at our stadium.
Yeah. And they would come in and they would put grass fields on our, on top of our turf.
Yeah. Yeah. And then they would pull it out and never, all the guys would take the grass,
put it at their house because they just throw the grass out. But, you know, the fact, or the, the thing is, though,
like we want grass as players because the grass is so much better for the body.
Oh yeah.
You know what I mean?
So seeing Dallas go out there and make that, I mean, it's kind of like.
So yeah, Messi when he came to the MLS, he said he's not playing on turf.
He's not playing on turf.
Yeah.
And he hasn't played on turf.
He hasn't played on turf.
Yeah.
And people are putting that grass in because Messi moves needles.
He moves lots of needles.
It's insane, bro.
Break the game down, Jackie.
All right, let's start this thing off.
Words do not do this game.
Just one of the best games.
of all time.
We will hit the highlights here.
Starting off in the 20th minute,
we break a scoreless tie.
One nothing.
We get a messy P.K.
Off of a D. Maria.
He beats,
wait, hold on.
D. Maria on the left side there,
gets inside,
gets a little tangled up in the box,
goes down.
P.K. Messi's up there,
one nothing.
Let me hear you break that down.
You break down that situation.
I mean, first of all,
the stadium right now,
you can't hear anything.
The Argentinians are going absolutely back crazy.
Traveled well.
Okay.
It's just so loud.
Everyone's excited.
And then Messi scores in the final.
Oh, Messi's one inch closer now to get his World Cup trophy.
Okay.
And then, and then, and then they go up to no.
And now everyone in the stadium is celebrating going wild.
Right?
I'm going crazy because I'm like, babe, it's going to happen.
You know, we just spent 30 grand on these tickets, right?
Hey, baby.
We're getting the money's worth.
We're getting our money's worth.
Right.
And social media at this point is going nuts.
Right?
Anything that I would post would just get hundreds and thousands of likes and views and millions.
It's just going nuts.
But hold on.
There's more.
Nothing scarier than a two-o lead.
And that second goal was in hockey.
That's what they say in hockey.
I think that's in all sports, man.
Honestly.
I want to hear.
You know what I'm saying?
And then all of a sudden, all of a sudden,
Messy's trying to finish his story, right?
But Embaba says, no, no, not.
Let me start my story.
Let me start my story.
He says.
Two, two.
And I don't know if you guys remember that goal
that Mbapas scored.
It was on the volley.
It was on the volley.
First touch, bang.
So it wasn't like some tapping or anything.
I think it was like outside the box.
Outside the box.
18 yards?
18 yards.
Oh, baby.
You know, we're cooking at this point.
That's all volley.
Yeah, volley.
Just like on proclothes, baby.
So then listen.
Listen, listen, listen.
Remember when I told you that the stadium was going crazy,
2-0 up?
Now it's silent.
Dead silent.
You could hear heartbeats, bro.
I was silent.
So you're saying most of the stadium was going for Argentina.
98%.
Wow.
So you only heard from Kroch?
From two people.
Le Blues.
Exactly.
My cron was up there.
He was going nuts.
And those two people were on the French national team.
So it gets tied up two, two.
What are you thinking?
Oh, man.
So you're looking at babe like fuck
Those 30 grand
You know what?
I was and I was also like
Embap is really him
And Bop is really him
So then they go into
Extra time
Right
We didn't just get 90 minutes
We're getting 120 minutes
So it goes to extra time
What do you strap up?
How is the stadium
What are your mental notes
How are you feeling this time
And how is the social doing?
What are people saying on the social?
So, by the way, when Messi scored in regular time, if you go back and watch the footage,
I'm row one.
He gets on his knees right in front of me.
So if I like, if I just reach over, I could touch him and tap him.
Two times it happened that game.
And so I'm holding him.
I could smell him, dude.
I bet you he smell.
He probably has a good clone that he wears in the game.
I was just trying to get a good whiff, right?
The ball boy recognized me and he kept like throwing me the ball just to like play catch with
them and stuff. So I was just like kind of messing around.
And I'm like, man, if I ask this guy like, yo,
can I watch the game down there? Is that cool?
Right? But no. So the stadium was silent
after the draw, right? After the 2-2.
But then all of a sudden, the Argentina fan said, man, if we're going to win this,
we need to be loud. And then it got three times louder than it was at the start of the
game or when they won up 2-0. Oh, my God.
So is this golden goal right by now?
No, this is just extra time. There is no golden goal.
There's no golden goal. So you have five, explain the extra
time?
Extra time is 15 minutes each half, right?
If it's tied, you go to penalties, right?
If one team is leading, they win.
So then that's when Messi gets a go-head goal, right?
Second of the game.
Three, two, an extra time.
Second of the game.
108th minute.
108th minute, baby.
So then you have 108th minute.
So they have a little baby half time and then they go into 15 minutes again.
So they have a one goal lead going into the back 15.
Oh, yeah.
So what's going on then?
How is the crowd?
Are they like on edge?
Everyone's going crazy again.
Everyone's going wild.
So is Argentina playing at that point not to lose the game?
Oh, yeah.
Or are they playing to win the game?
No, no.
They're wasting time.
They're trying to hold on just to win the game.
That's over.
What's Mbapé doing there in this?
What's Mbapap doing?
Give me the ball.
He's asking for the ball.
He's demanding.
He wants to take over the game.
So is Himithee, Shalomey, going to take over the game?
What happens?
It's so, so that
So that
France get a penalty
two minutes
before the match ends
All right
And Bob it buries it
Himmathy
Himmathy.
3-3.
So it's 3-3
And that 118th minute.
So there's
12 more minutes to go, right?
No, two more minutes
to go.
Two more minutes to go.
And then extra time.
No, two more minutes to go
and then pens.
It's 3-3 and extra time.
They both scored.
But don't you get the additional time?
Yeah, yeah.
So you get two minutes and then additional time.
Yeah.
Which is out of time.
Yeah.
Could be five.
Could be five.
Could be a little bit.
Yeah.
So how's it go?
I mean, dude, right there, it's just, everyone's just like, no pens.
No pens.
But if you're a casual, which everyone on social media at this point, they were, they were demanding
penalties.
That's the, that's the perfect way to end the game.
But the problem with penalties is, I mean, dude, it's a coin toss.
A coin toss.
You know what I'm saying?
So how's it end?
They go into Penns.
And what I think, by the way, somewhere in that extra time,
think it was like maybe, yeah, it was when it was 3-3.
So in the 119th minute-ish,
Colum Wanda gets an opportunity.
It's just him through on goal.
It's a 1v-1, bro.
Emiliano Martinez gets folded,
but he like opens up his leg and he saves it.
That's the determining factor of the game.
That's clutch jeans from Emmy,
Martinez.
Argentina's goalkeeper.
Okay.
So I told my wife, hey, if they go to pens, there's no chance that Argentina lose because
of Emmy Martinez.
He's a menace, dude.
He's talking shit to the guy about to take the pens, right?
Sure enough, he saves like two, right?
And then Argentina makes them.
There he's it.
Man.
And that moment right there, that was just, that was spine.
That was just chills throughout the spine because you saw Messi not like, he just, he just
fell to his knees.
You know, he finally did it.
He finally got his World Cup.
Everyone crying.
People were crying.
Just bawling their eyes out
because it's like,
you couldn't believe that Messi
had finally won the World Cup,
the fashion in which they did it,
extra time and then penalties.
Two goals and a PK.
And then everyone also saw
how insane Mbapas stepped up
that they were like,
bro, this guy's just going to keep scoring.
And he did.
He scored a hat trick.
Reminds me of the 2018
AFC championship, Tom Brady versus Patrick Mahomes.
Patrick,
having an outstanding football game
and still not being able to take the torch
from Tom Brady at that point of time.
Little changing the guard.
Not quite.
It's so similar.
But it's very similar, isn't it?
Oh, similar, man.
Sports are badass.
Sports are amazing.
God.
So Argentina wins.
Stadium's nuts.
You're looking at why if you guys spend 30 grand on tickets,
it's the best 30 grand we've ever spent in our life.
I mean, what do we do after the game?
So I was, I was, I was like in shock for a little bit, right?
After the game.
Confetti everywhere?
Yeah, man, the streets of Qatar outside the stadium were just surrounded, man.
Just crazy.
And they did a mini little bus tour with the Argentina fans.
So we were just kind of like staring like, wow, this actually really happened.
This is so sick.
It felt amazing to witness.
I was vlogging.
I just wanted to get everything I was feeling
because not everyone can say
they were at the World Cup final.
So it's one of those opportunities
that kind of came about from,
like we started the conversation,
me sitting in my room playing video games.
So it just felt like, man,
this is where it kind of got me.
It's crazy where life goes.
Yeah, yeah.
When hard work and opportunity meet, buddy,
and that's what you've been doing.
Yeah, thank you.
That's why you got to go to the World Cup,
get to witness one of the greatest matches of all time.
How about the damn celebrations in Argentina?
Do they burn that place down almost?
You see that?
For one million the streets?
How do you even manage that?
Like, how do you manage so many people in one gathering,
just come together?
Unbelievable.
Put a bow on a jacket.
Just to put a bow on this one,
Argentina won four, two, and kicks.
This game immediately broke the internet,
hailed as an instant classic.
Mbapapé became just the second player.
in World Cup history to have a hat trick in the final,
joining Jeff Hurst back in 1966, England.
Messi finally got his World Cup,
named player of the match.
Argentina got their third World Cup,
first since Maradona in 86, as we mentioned earlier.
Messi got the golden ball.
Enzo Fernandez won FIFA young player,
the matcher of the tournament award.
Emilio Martinez,
Emiliano Martinez,
unbelievable World Cup,
of course wins Golden Glove,
goes viral for his celebration.
You can look that one up.
We all remember that.
And Argentina went nuts, bro.
Celebrations everywhere.
Four million the streets.
You know what?
We got to...
Maradonia.
I get in like a wormhole of him just warming up
for like three hours.
The Instagram rules on Instagram.
Oh, yeah.
I sit and just watch Maradonia warming up.
I mean, that guy was a legend.
He does it with so much ease, too, right?
He's just juggling, like, just playing with the balls.
I don't even think I can do that with my hands,
let alone my, you know?
Shoes aren't even tied.
Yeah.
This guy's just out here.
His warm up was like,
beautiful.
He was amazing.
All right, let's name the game and score the game.
Is this the greatest game of all time?
Let's score it.
Remember, decimals are encouraged.
We came up with these group of names.
If you have a name that you have in your head,
we'll use that.
We came up with Messi versus Mbapé,
Messi's last dance,
the greatest World Cup final ever.
Messies coronation.
this one's for messy.
Which one do you like?
Or do you have something that you and your friends call it?
I would go with, I like the greatest World Cup final ever.
The greatest World Cup final ever.
I love it.
We'll be right back after this quick break.
Happy Pride Month, Toronto.

We have a ton to celebrate Toronto.
Happy Pride.
Iheart Radio.
Let's score it.
The stakes of the greatest World Cup final ever.
Zero to 10 decimals encouraged.
the stakes of this match.
I'm so excited to hear your thoughts because I listened to the hockey one
and you wanted shootouts, Julian.
So I'm going to go with 9.8.
9.8.
If it was Ronaldo, maybe I'd give it a 10.0.
Stakes, okay.
The stakes are very high for this.
And with my explanation being,
Messi, this could have been his last time ever doing it.
We didn't know that he was still going to.
play and he's still messy right now.
So
Argentina, France,
two huge names,
World Cup, huge final.
I'm going to go with the 9.2.
The stakes of this match.
It'd be higher if it was going for
something more
more historically
record breaking. If Messi was going for
a back-to-back, you know, or you know what I mean?
I went 95.
Uh-huh.
99-9. 9-9. 9. 9. 9. 9.
Former teammates.
This is once a four-year tournament.
Two big dogs.
Like, I just won't get much higher than this.
This is the guy.
Nine, nine.
That's the high.
That's the highest we've ever seen.
That's the highest all go.
That's crazy.
He knows, man.
Now, star power, there's going to be a lot of star power in this bad boy.
Zero to ten decimals encouraged.
Oof, o'f, imbae, Chimini.
Messi di Maria, Emmy.
Roa.
Yotis to his last World Cup goalkeeper for France.
Let's go with 9.
It can't be 9.9.
It's 9.5, 9.5.
You also got presidents in the building.
Elon Musk is there, right?
Did this guy, come for?
There's a lot of people.
Can I change the chastro's there for the 9.6?
9.6.
There it is.
Come on.
I mean, I'm a casual and I knew like half the team.
You know what I mean?
That tells you how big the damn star power is.
I'm a casual.
I knew like all the names.
So it's got to be about 95 for me.
I mean, 300 million people are following these guys.
I went 9.4.
I think I'm tripping.
Okay.
These, by the way, these are like record breaking numbers for everyone.
Yeah.
This is going to be a high.
This is going to be a high.
This is huge.
This is, I mean, the gameplay, if you're looking for gameplay, this is good gameplay.
Okay.
You have to go first on this one.
I can't wait to see what you give this.
For me?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Remember shootouts.
Shootouts.
Shootouts.
And stars.
This is forming a high level.
You wanted shootouts.
You got your shootouts.
I got to go 96.
That's great.
That's a really good score.
Drama, like scoring in two minutes in soccer.
Not high enough, though.
Come on.
That is high.
P.Ks.
PK.
Chitouts.
Patrick's.
I mean,
Patrick's the goal team.
There's even a-
There's even a-
9-6.
It's about to be the highest scoring game we've ever seen.
There's even a comeback too.
Argentina was up 2-0.
It was an insane.
Yeah.
The comeback extra time pens.
I've never given a 10.
I mean, listen, I don't want.
96 is fucking huge, bro.
Again.
That is huge.
It's not.
That's a plus almost.
True, true.
I'm going to go with 9-9-9-9.
Because I'm not going to give it a 10, right?
There we go.
He agrees with me.
Wow.
Let's go.
Another 9-9 for Guy guy.
I went 9-3.
Yeah, 99.
High guy.
What more do you want out of a game?
It is.
It's hard.
What?
What makes it,
what does it need to, what needs to happen?
9-6 could be potentially the highest score I've ever given a game play.
I know, I know.
But what needs to happen in that World Cup final for it to become a 9.
a 9.8 to maybe 10. There needed to be an alien come down on the field.
In a streak.
Strieker.
I need to see UFO.
We had a streaker.
Come on the field.
Streaker.
There was a streaker.
I was there.
Bare knuckleberry though.
I don't know they weren't bare enough.
If Messi buried it before PKK, like in the last like 30 seconds, I think you could get there.
We wouldn't have shootouts.
Yeah.
We love the shootouts.
I like shootouts.
I like shootouts.
I like shootouts.
You're right.
You're totally right.
You're right.
We almost had that extra.
I mean,
stoppage time in regulation was nuts.
All right.
Let's move on to the name.
We grade the name of the game.
This name,
the greatest World Cup final ever.
It says it all.
Also the cultural relevance to how people will think about this game
in 30, 40, 50 years from now.
The greatest World Cup final ever.
I mean,
that's pretty self-explanatory.
I'm going to go with 9.
Because I chose it,
I got to go with 9.
9.7.
I mean,
It's probably going to be a nine five for me, which.
People are going to remember.
People will remember this game forever because,
because messy,
this could be messy's only one.
It could be.
And he's,
you know what I mean?
So this is,
are you okay.
Oh,
I don't know why I,
I started before we knew,
before I knew what we were going to name it.
Can I change?
No,
yeah.
All right,
all right.
Let me get up in the nines.
Come on now.
This is going to be,
you allow it.
Is this is a new high for you?
This could change.
You're going to see.
We're going to see right now.
We're going to see where it lands on the list.
Castro.
Yes, man.
We might, guys, hold on here.
Okay, it's 9.49.
Is that a top 10?
That's super high.
Is that top one?
Yeah, that might be top one.
That's number one.
I did 9.1 just because it's two, it's still a little early.
This game just happened.
We don't know how it's going to be received in the future.
Okay, 9.49.
It's our new number one game.
There you go.
Wow.
Number one game.
Just ahead of the tourney,
28 to 3, Super Bowl 51.
The international bump of football.
Yep.
Brett, one month away from the 2026 World Cup.
One month away.
This feels fitting.
Number one game.
And not very close either.
Let's go.
Let's go.
Holy shmoli.
Everyone hit the comment section.
Let us know what you think.
Crazy.
Holy.
We might need to pop a bottle of champagne or something over here.
Oh, baby.
Number one.
You can see who's rather game.
Man.
Castro, we miss anything from this number one greatest final World Cup ever in the history of all games with names?
I think we covered all of it, man.
All right.
I think I want to end on, don't let dreams be dreams.
I still can't believe I'm sitting here with y'all talking about this game.
And that is an absolute honor.
We'll explain that.
Don't let dreams be dreams.
What's that mean?
Yeah, man.
Sometimes, I guess you don't know what some of your,
dreams are, right? So you got to just keep going in life. And then when you find out what your
dream was, you'll understand that it wasn't easy to find what your dream was. It's never been easy.
And it's never going to be easy. But in the end, in the end, it'll always be worth it. And that's why
I guess I'm here with y'all. Let's freaking go. No dream's a dream. Oh, yeah.
Freaking love that. Let's go, man. I love that. I like to say,
say no dream's too big. No dream's too big. No dream is too big. Similar. Very similar.
Very similar. Oh yeah. Man Castro. Unbelievable having you on here. It's been really fun chopping
it up about soccer or football. We are huge fans. Everyone go check out the 1021 podcast. Los Aliens
