Starting point is 00:02:33 And then a classic. Starbucks or Duncan. What kid requests Starbucks for anything when you're on road trip? Your kid does. And call the hotline at 561-203-5-7-89. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Call the hotline. Let's go. Call it now. ASAP. It's an emergency. Call it. We want to answer some questions. Come on.

Starting point is 00:03:11 What's your New Year's resolution? Oh, I don't really have one yet. Ooh, I, but what is it? My New Year's resolution is to be the best podcaster I can possibly be and stop slacking and freaking pick it up and have the best day every day I podcast. Yeah, that's a good New Year's resolution because it's not about me. If I have the best day, it's about giving everyone what they want. And that's having some great.
Starting point is 00:03:34 energy and that's making people laugh and that's making people gain some new knowledge because I'm talking about a dude that they don't know about. They learn about them. They know about them, but they get to learn about them more. So being the best podcaster is not just good for me. It's good for everyone. So be the best podcaster I can possibly be with you, you crazy nut house Julian. I was thinking like better communication. Oh, that's a good one too. But yeah, that's part of it. But I just wanted to break down the single fundamental. I probably got to communicate better in a a whole lot of facets of my life. No, not really.
Starting point is 00:04:06 You have good communication with me. I just call your assistant, and then he tells me everything that's going on. But if I call you, you don't answer, but if I call your assistant, every single thing I know that you're doing is right on my phone then. See,
Starting point is 00:04:19 I want, I want better communication. I just have to call your assistant. I want better communication. Gosh. And we don't, New Year's is nothing for us. I mean,
Starting point is 00:04:31 we always played on New Year's. Was New Year's ever a thing to you? Best New Year party stories? I don't know. I don't really have any. I mean, I feel like it's amateur hour, and we're not amateurs. We're legit pros. I mean, we're going to go out with everyone that doesn't go out.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Like, no. That's why we play on New Year's Day. We never went out on New Year's. No, we went on on Fourth of July. Yeah, yeah, we were Fourth of July, guys. You're right. And Fagawi. Fagawi.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Well, Memorial Day. Yeah, Memorial Day. You know? Let's crack open the old hotline. Dudes on phones. Oh, dude's on phones? Dude's on phones. Oh, I like it.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Hello, this is Catherine from Western Mass, and I'm calling to ask you guys, which is your favorite song, like the song that when you're in a car all by herself, he just crank it up to 30 and sing, like you don't care who's around, and who's your favorite band and favorite movies? Gee, that's a lot of thinking.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Catherine, let me tell you. I know you're a big fan. You're from Western Mass. Western Mass. I love your voice. You just sound sophisticated. I love your question. And I don't crank that volume up to 30, Catherine.
Starting point is 00:05:49 I crank that volume up to 69 for you. All right. And let me tell you my favorite song. It's welcome to my house. Okay, Catherine. So when you're riding with me in the passenger seat, you're going to be a part of my house. I'm going to sing some for you.
Starting point is 00:06:01 You ready? You ready? Hit it. Hit it. Welcome to my house. Baby, take control now. We can even slow down. We don't have to go out.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Welcome to my house. Play that music too loud. Show me what you do now. We don't have to go out. You stayed in key. It was good. I gave you the full answer. I gave you my song and I performed a song for you as well. and my favorite band was definitely growing up.
Starting point is 00:06:39 Backstreet boys. Backstreet back. All right. And my favorite movie, Catherine, okay, was a happy Gilmore. That's a good.
Starting point is 00:06:49 Shoot a. Boom, chum, boom, boom, shoot a, thank you. Thanks for your wonderful question,

Starting point is 00:07:30 Junior sales San Diego legend. Let me hear. Oh, Jonathan, man. Any junior stories? I mean, I don't really have any junior sale stories. I never played with him. I actually never met him in my life,
Starting point is 00:07:45 but I've just heard great things about him, how he's such a great teammate. But just one story I've heard about him is that he didn't know anyone's name ever. Yeah. I mean, that's kind of like similar to a lot of people in the NFL because there's just such a revolving door and so many players coming in and out
Starting point is 00:07:59 and coaches as well. but he would just call everyone like dude like no buddy no buddy buddy that's what it was yo what's up buddy and then like even like a guy that he's been playing with for a couple weeks he just walked by and be like what's up buddy how you doing buddy so i've just heard great things about him that's one of the stories i heard about him but he just called everyone buddy and i just heard he was such a great dude and love surfing paxton would have some awesome stories Lonnie he'll hit this comment section of this i bet i remember i was at the capital girl my rookie year and I grew up, you know, in northern California
Starting point is 00:08:31 where we had a lot of Polynesian players growing up, so you always knew all the Polynesian, like, greats. You know, Junior Seyal was like a Polynesian great. And I just remember we all loved him. Even though he was a San Diego Charger, everyone loved Junior Seale. And my parents felt that way. Like, everyone knew Junior Seale. And we were, my rookie year, I got to play with them.
Starting point is 00:08:52 And we were at the Capitol girl. I took my parents out to dinner, and Junior rolled up. And it was like December. Junior rolled up. It was freezing. And he rolled up in shorts and flip-flops. And he came and he saw my parents and he goes, I just want to say you guys raised a hardworking young man
Starting point is 00:09:09 that's going to have a great future in this league and something like that. And my parents were at all. And it was so cool for him to take the time out to do that. That was a really cool gesture. That is. And he was awesome. He'd be playing the ukuleaky in the locker room. You know, he was a grinder.
Starting point is 00:09:27 and, you know, it's sad that we don't have them anymore. Love Jr. Didn't get to have him, like, I wasn't like a true patriot with him. Like, the guys that, you know, I only got the tail end when he came in for a cup of coffee, but he was, you could feel his energy. Love that story. Love it. Mike Allstock.
Starting point is 00:09:47 What kind of fucking dude is he, huh? Oh, Mike Allstatt? What kind of fucking dude he is? Are you from New England with a New England Boston accent? And you're, you're a Mike Allstate? All the stop fan all the way down in Tampa, buddy. Well, guess what? There's dudes on dudes policy.
Starting point is 00:10:03 Jules, tell him the policy. We can't give us. We got to discuss it. And then we'll, you know, we're not just going to drop out here. A lot of, a lot of information research, thousands upon thousands of teams all together to get the information to come up to determine what kind of dude. This isn't just fucking, we blurt this shit out.
Starting point is 00:10:24 Exactly. No, this is a science. This is a fucking science. that mashole. I don't think he was a mass hole. I don't like it. I don't know. I don't think he was.
Starting point is 00:10:33 But keep the calls up. We like it. Yeah, we do like. We like every call. Good, bad, sad. We love them all. We love you. We'll be right back after this quick break.
Starting point is 00:10:43 Here we go. Hey, I'm Cal Penn. And on my new podcast, here we go again. We'll take today's trends and headlines and ask, why does history keep repeating itself? You may know me as the second hottest actor. from the Harold and Kumar movies, but I'm also an author, a White House staffer, and as of like 15 seconds ago, a podcast host. Along the way, I've made some friends who are experts in science,
Starting point is 00:11:08 politics, and pop culture. And each week, one of them will be joining me to answer my burning questions. Like, are we heading towards another financial crash like in 08? Is non-monogamy back in style? And how come there's never a gate ready for your flight when it lands like two minutes early? We've got guests like Pete Buttigieg. Stacey Abrams, Lily Singh, and Bill Nye. When you start weaponizing outer space, things can potentially go really wrong. Look, the world can seem pretty scary right now, because it is. But my goal here is for you to listen and feel a little better about the future.
Starting point is 00:11:44 Listen and subscribe to Here We Go Again with Cal Penn on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Big Take podcast from Bloomberg News dives deep into one big global business. story every weekday. A shutdown means we don't get the data, but it also means for President Trump that there's no chance of bad news on the labor market. What does a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich, reveal about the economy? Our breakfast foods are consistent consumer staples, and so they sort of become outsides indicators of inflation. What's behind Elon Musk's trillion dollar payout? There's a sort of concerted effort to message that Musk is coming back. He's putting politics as a He's left the White House.
Starting point is 00:12:30 And what can the PCE tell you that the CPI can't? CPI tries to measure out-of-pocket costs that consumers are paying for things, whereas the PCE index that the Fed targets is a little bit broader of a measure. Listen to the big take from Bloomberg News every weekday afternoon on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's what I've been told, and that's a half-truth is a whole lie. For almost a decade, the murder of an 18-year-old girl from a small town in Graves County, Kentucky, went unsolved, until a local homemaker, a journalist, and a handful of girls came forward with a story.
Starting point is 00:13:18 I'm telling you, we know Quincy Kilder, we know. A story that law enforcement used to convict six people, and that got the citizen investigator on national TV. Through sheer persistence and nerve, this Kentucky housewife helped give justice to Jessica Curran. My name is Maggie Freeling. I'm a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, producer, and I wouldn't be here if the truth were that easy to find. I did not know her and I did not kill her, or rape or burn or any of that other stuff that y'all said. They literally made me say that I took a match and struck and threw it on her. They made me say that I poured gas on her.
Starting point is 00:13:59 From Lava for Good, this is Graves County, a show about just how far our legal system will go in order to find someone to blame. America, y'all better work the hell up. Bad things happens to good people in small towns. Listen to Graves County in the Bone Valley feed on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And to binge the entire season at free, subscribe to Lava for Good Plus on Apple Podcasts. It was better.
Starting point is 00:14:43 Duncan or Starby? Who is this guy? He's like... That's definitely a Boston. He sounds like I'm blacked out drunk. Like me blacked out drunk. Like, oh, Duncan's Starvog. What got any coffee to keep me going
Starting point is 00:15:00 so I could stay up to a seven? What would you rather have, Duncan or Starbucks? I mean, I'm in the Lincoln God, so it's 100%. chicken Dunkin' Donuts. You know what? My daughter likes Starbucks more than anything. Like, if we're taking a road trip, it used to be like when you were a kid, what was your favorite road trip stop? Like McDonald's or Burger King.
Starting point is 00:15:20 It was Burger King growing up as a kid right after hockey practice. Right? Burger King. She has to go to Starbucks. She likes the egg bites. Oh, all right. I'm like, they're not, what are you doing? Lately, though, I've been going to Dunkin' Donuts ordering my coffee. And like right before a workout, just to give you a little boost. but I always been buying the freaking their specialty donut that they have for the week. What is it? I mean, it changes like every week. I'm telling you, they're donuts A plus now. Like, they're good. I like Duncans. I'm a Duncan's guy more than Starbucks, but I go to Starbucks more because they're out here.
Starting point is 00:15:50 And my kid like Starbucks. What kid requests Starbucks for anything when you're on road trip? Your kid does. I know. It's weird. I think they all like it now. Like, she must have learned that from like a friend or something or like a family. friend because how else would she know about Starbuck? It's, yeah, all right, well, there we go. The mom. Next one. What up, dudes.
Starting point is 00:16:11 It's Ben calling in from Boston. There's a notorious food challenge at Eagle's Deli by Boston College. We have one hour to eat six pounds of beef, 20 slices of cheese, 20 strips of bacon, five pounds of fries, and a pickle. And after all that, you finish two more regular-sized burgers. Who from your time at the past, teammates or across the NFL, is crushing that challenge the fastest because of the best? Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:16:37 First off, thank you, Ben. We know that we are the best. We appreciate that. Thank you very much. You're a good guy. That's why you're from Boston. You know what's up. Eagles Deli.
Starting point is 00:16:46 Shout out to Eagles Deli. You were been? By Boston College. Never even heard of it. Who do you think you could eat that? I definitely going with Marcus Cannon. Marcus Cannon was overweight for like a whole year and just didn't care because he's like, I just love eating too much.
Starting point is 00:17:00 And like, I'm like, how much you eat? He's like like five pounds of meat and night. I'm like, oh. Marcus Canaan could eat. eat. He could put down some food. Oh my. This guy. He used to do these little tricks on the way-ins too, where you get a pencil. And there's a little thing where he could leverage himself with the pencil.
Starting point is 00:17:16 So it lift up when he was doing the way-in. Because he had weighing clauses and shit. This guy would come up with all these crazy schemes and stuff. I mean, fucking Marcus Cannon could take that thing down. He could do the Eagle Deli Challenge. Let's hear this next one. Gentlemen, here's what I want to see. I want the two of you to plan and host a Super Bowl. party. You have to come up with the menu. You have to do all the shopping yourself. You have to cook it all yourself. You have to host the party. And then you have to clean all that shit up. If you need a
Starting point is 00:17:47 helper, I'm available to help you. I'll fly out from California. However, you may not have any professionals, assistance, or any of the women in your life, especially your moms, do this for you. I hope you accept this challenge. Wow. That's some serious game, you guys. I really wish you said your name and in sending a picture for no shot I'm doing that for Julian to check you out because if you know if you passed the looks test I mean I'm telling you Julian's bringing you in for sure but that's a great that's some great game you got hey you can't have your mom there and no other ladies I'll help you clean the whole house there's something else that you'll probably be cleaning and shining as well by the time you're done doing all that so whatever your name is Super Bowl party and she just wants it you want her that's a party I mean she must must be a freak show. You're out of your mind. Let's hear you next one. Give her a call. I'm out of here. Hey guys. I'm Oliver from Northampton.
Starting point is 00:18:45 I was just wondering if you have any tips as like a shorter, slower wide receiver, myself, how can I succeed and change my game? Also, are you going to ever like post a video like with drills and workouts? for receivers or safety's d-ds. You should also think of doing the camp in Massachusetts. Like, wide receiver camp, that would be cool. Love the show. Oliver, thanks for listening.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Oliver, I just want to give you a shout-up, man. I appreciate you being big fans. Yeah. And loving our show of Jules and I, I'm sure you're a Patriot fan man as well. Are you doing a camping in Boston? I used to do a camp in Boston. So I haven't done it in a while,
Starting point is 00:19:30 but if I ever do it again, man, I'll definitely appreciate if you show up. and you sign up, that would be really cool. And here's a thing. Like, do we have any tips, like, on, you know, on how to help you out that you're a slower ride receiver like yourself? How can you succeed? Well, in that case, we were talking about it on some earlier shows.
Starting point is 00:19:50 It's not about in the football world. It's not about being the most athletic or being the fastest. It's about being the best football player that you can be. And if you learn the game inside and out and you understand the game of football, it helps you be a better football player. So if you're not as fast as everyone, not as strong as everyone, understand the game of football and what's going on and that will help you out. Yeah, you got to no coverage.
Starting point is 00:20:15 You got to be savvy, quick and savvy. Get your quickness up. Work on the same thing a whole bunch of times and you'll get better. There you go. You got to train. Train fast twitch muscles. AG always talked about the fast switch muscles. That's what you got to train.
Starting point is 00:20:31 And are we ever going to post videos of drills and of us working out? Probably not. Probably not. We're retired. We don't really do that anymore. But Oliver, we love you, man. I appreciate you being a big fan. We appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Hey, Julian. And Gronk. This is Christian, calling from Connecticut. So I'm a big fan of you guys, but I'm also a big fan of our man, Danny Evadola. And I'm wondering if we might see you guys on dancing with the stars.
Starting point is 00:20:57 In case you didn't notice, you made it all the mid-finals. Because be the Patriots' best chance for a championship this year. All right, guys. Keep him new work. Later. Probably not going on Dancing with the Stars.
Starting point is 00:21:07 Definitely not actually. Yeah, Christian. I mean, it's a good idea, and I understand where you're getting that from because. And Dola killed it. Congratulations on Dola. Because Dola killed, obviously. So that's bringing up the idea that Julian and I should go on dancing with the stars.
Starting point is 00:21:19 But also, I know you've seen my dance moves back in the day as well on ESPN. Grong don't need to show it off time. So they're so good. I made ESPN top 10 plays before dancing in the club and on stage and stuff at like being in Fagawi. Like Justin Timberlake even gave me a shout out because in Fagalli. He could dance. Because I was dancing to his song. Like that's when you know you made it and you don't need to go on dancing with the stars.
Starting point is 00:21:45 Without a doubt. Leave it for Dola. We'll be right back after this quick break. Here we go. Hey, I'm Cal Penn. And on my new podcast, Here We Go again. We'll take today's trends and headlines and ask, why does history keep repeating itself?
Starting point is 00:22:03 You may know me as the second hottest. actor from the Harold and Kumar movies, but I'm also an author, a White House staffer, and as of like 15 seconds ago, a podcast host. Listen and subscribe to here we go again with Cal Penn on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The forces shaping the world's economies and financial markets can be hard to Even though they are such a powerful player in finance, you wouldn't really know that you are interacting with them.
Starting point is 00:23:12 And even harder to understand. Donald Trump's trade war, 2.0, is only accelerating the process of de-dollarization, which in a way is jargon for people turning away from the dollar. That is where the big take from Bloomberg podcast comes in to connect the dots. How unusual is a deal like this? Unprecedented. Every weekday afternoon, we dive deep into one big. big global business story. The biggest story of the reaction of the oil market to the conflict in the
Starting point is 00:23:41 Middle East is one of what has not happened. Katie, you told me that ETFs are your favorite thing. They are. Explain that. Why is that the case? And unpack what it means for you. Our breakfast foods are consistent consumer staples, and so they sort of become outsized indicators of inflation. Listen to the big take from Bloomberg News every weekday afternoon on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Starting point is 00:25:58 Hey, boys. So a bit of a story to this question here, but I was at Grunk Beach, Las Vegas. It was about two years ago at the Encore Beach Club over there. And I snuck in a Gronk jersey, which in the first place was not easy. Apparently they don't allow jerseys
Starting point is 00:26:14 at Beach clubs in Vegas. But I digress. I snuck in the jersey. regardless and I actually got Grom to sign it at one point. In a heap of excitement, I decided to take my lady upstairs with the jersey on and have ourselves a little bit of a time. The question is, during that time, we got a little bit of stains on this jersey, and it is one of my favorite things that it could possibly have. My sister asked for this, such exact jersey for Christmas because she was a huge Gronk fan. do I watch the jersey and potentially lose the signature or for the rest of my life know that I gave my sister a jersey with my splews on it?
Starting point is 00:26:55 I'm kind of speechless. I mean, I first off want to congratulate you for, you know, doing the business. In a gronk jersey? In a gronk jersey? What your girl wearing the gronk jersey? I mean, I understand that, you know, her wearing my jersey probably turns her up a little bit more or maybe turned you up a little bit more. or maybe turned you up a little bit more too. And I appreciate that love and appreciate you having a lot of fans out there.
Starting point is 00:27:19 The nut sack and balls to share that story as well, my man. I wish you gave us your name. Would you give it to her or not? I would say, Don't give it to your sister. Don't wash it because that jersey's a special jersey. You have a new jersey. Has a signature on it.
Starting point is 00:27:34 And it has just bluge on it, brother. Hang that shit up in the rafters. I can tell you that. And freaking just go by yourself a new freaking jersey, brother, and gave her the New Jersey, and I'll sign that jersey. Bring it to the next Grand Beach. Yeah. Perfect.
Starting point is 00:27:48 Isn't that the best idea? Buy a New Jersey? I wouldn't, yeah, I wouldn't save that. Put in the rafters. He's crazy. That got crazy. All right. Last question here.
Starting point is 00:27:57 Let's go. What we got? Hey, guys, Davis calling from St. Louis. Love the show. First of all, wanted to tell you that I went to every Super Bowl, Patriot Super Bowl, from the win over the Eagles in Jacksonville, all the way to the win over the Rams in Atlanta, but great times. All right, this one is for Grunk.
Starting point is 00:28:18 So I want to talk about one of the most unhings, awesome live things ever on TV, which was that New Year's Eve thing, where he smashed that Lego sculpture of that douchebag Steve Harvey live on TV. So I want to know was that incident rehearsed at all? And if so, well, and also how, like how genuine. was that response of Steve Harvey. Man, this Davis got bringing the heat, bro. What did you do? So it was a year that I retired from New England
Starting point is 00:28:53 and then I was on Fox a little bit. Then Fox gave me the hosting job for New Year's Eve, actually, when they were doing the New Year's Eve, you know, Fox show. And you smashed the Lego ad. I remember. I was a co-host. Was it real? And I really smashed that Lego set, brother.
Starting point is 00:29:06 Did they tell you, too? I know the answer. If it was pre-rehearsed or not. But I will never tell. It was over five years ago, and this moment is still talked about to this day, and so many people bring it up, it was how legendary it was. Steve, Harvey scared me, bro. He was coming at me.
Starting point is 00:29:25 And I was like, man, I feel like I should not smash this Lego set. He was, what the fuck wrong? Why the fuck did you smash my leg? He said, fuck you. Go fuck yourself. Like, you're not, why are you smashing me? Like, that's not cool. And I was like, whoa.
Starting point is 00:29:40 And then we started laughing. but he was definitely acting and he's not a doucheback i don't know why davis was saying that guy was great dang that's a great clip maybe i see that's why i retired that year so i could do these things like this julia and i was hosting new year's eve freaking smashing lego sets looking like i played in the 1960s that's probably 20s telling steve harvey's look at i'm dancing on him like yeah that's right that's right he's talking shit to me right now and i'm freaking basically Pretending. Did you guys, were you guys cool after the old thing?
