What if mind control is real?
If you could control the behavior of anybody around you, what kind of life would you have?
Can you hypnotically persuade someone to buy a car?
When you look at your car, you're going to become overwhelmed with such good feelings.
Can you hypnotize someone into sleeping with you?
I gave her some suggestions to be sexually aroused.
Can you get someone to join your cult?
NLP was used on me to access my subconscious.
Mind Games, a new podcast exploring NLP, aka neurolinguistic programming.
Is it a self-help miracle, a shady hypnosis scam, or both?

This is Dr. Jesse Mills, host of the Mailroom podcast.
Each January, men promise to get stronger, work harder, and fix what's broken?
But what if the real work isn't physical at all?
I sat down with psychologist Dr. Steve Poulter to unpack shame, anxiety, and the emotional pain men were never taught how to name.
Part of the way through the Valley of Despair is realizing this has happened,
and you have to make a choice whether you're going to stay in it or move forward.
Our two-part conversation is available now.

A new year doesn't ask us to become someone new.
It invites us back home to ourselves.

Hello, hello, all my people, what's up?
It's Questlove.
Recently, I had the opportunity
to sit down with the one and only
ASAP Rocky.
He reflects on his journey from Harlem Roots
to global icon status
and discovering the hip-hop origin
of his name.
The ledge was on the TV.
Raqim had the bucket hat can go join on.
That's Raqim.
That's who you named after.
I just like, damn, that fucking I swear.

We're back.
The Patriots are going to the Super Bowl.
We have a rematch of Super Bowl.
After a wild, wild championship Sunday, we had to hop on and bring you guys another recap.
Remember, like and subscribe.
Let's get into it.
Let's start off with the Patriots winning in the snow in Denver over the Broncos.
Very hard to do.
Very hard to do.
Honestly, when I saw this game and how it ended, I had one epiphany.
I said, this is what we used to pray for.
We used to pray for that kind of weather
when we were going in to play Denver.
That's what we wanted.
They got it.
And they got it done.
They got it done too.
And honestly, Denver, unbelievable in the first half on defense.
I mean, it was hard.
Defense line was all over.
Drake.
They couldn't get anything going to the run game.
But they took care of the football.
they took care of the football
they had the big play
where Drake scrambled
Drake with the draw
on third down design run
designed run for sure
they made the plays
when they had to and then they clamped
on for Deer Life when the storm
came in and
Stidum you got to tip your cap
came out firing
look good I mean I think they went three and out
the first one Patriots went
three and out and then Stiddy got going, had a big, big time throw to Mims.
Was it Mims?
I believe it was Mims, yeah.
Down the middle, and they go on and score.
The one that everyone's going to talk about is Sean Payton going forward on fourth down
in the red area where they could have went up 10.
Yep.
They're going to talk about that.
I'm a points guy.
Even then, it was like, ooh, you might want three points later in the game.
Yeah, it just you got your backup.
quarterback, how good are your fourth and one plays? You haven't been running the ball very good
against this Patriots defense. Patriot's defense is good against a run. And the Broncos don't have
like a ground and pound guy. You know, they're on Harvey, rookie, really good running back. Dobbs got
hurt. They got real hurt at the running back position. And they were always looking for that guy that
could, they could ride. But during the year, they didn't have that. They relied on Bo Nix in that short pass
game for those runs to stay on track for the schedule of being on first, second, and being in
third and manageable, which they're always pretty good. But that's that fourth down call, man,
what a play by Vraibs. Vraibs had it. Vrabs and the defense knew it. They had two guys on
them. Flat covered. Quarterback run covered. Plug up the middle. They ain't running it.
That was just situational plays. You know, you look at the box score. Looks terrible.
Yeah.
But you look at there's zero turnovers by the Patriots.
There's two by the Broncos.
And I would even say three because that fourth down that you don't get is a turnover of my eyes.
Patriots had one penalty.
Will Campbell early in the game when he was feeling the speed of Benito and Cooper for the first time.
That's fucking fast.
And they converted that third down too, right?
They converted it.
But you know what I mean?
Like that one penalty on the road in a hostile environment,
I've been in that environment.
It's so loud.
It's so hectic.
The people are fucking going crazy.
It's a hell of a championship environment.
And they handled it.
One penalty, zero turnovers, six for 18 on third down, one for one on fourth down.
Like with the conditions, that's what they had to do.
I thought it was an unbelievable coaching job by the Patriots, Rable McDaniels, and everyone.
and special teams that scared me,
a couple of those punts.
Yeah, those punts.
But like what people don't realize,
those punters, they sit for hours
and they just practice their drop, their drop, their drop, right?
Because when that ball drops,
they wanted to drop right on their foot.
When you start getting a sideways wind,
it's so hard.
I remember Ryan Allen always complaining about Foxboro
because the wind, it drops that punt.
You can't get it clean with those gusts in that game
that he was probably dealing with that in his drop.
Thank God it didn't kill him.
And they were already in snow apocalypse by the time and people weren't scoring.
But that was just, this is fucking incredible.
Like you got to think about it.
I mean, this is up there.
This turnaround is up there with the Indiana shit.
And I know people aren't going to say that because Indiana doesn't have a winning culture and all that.
And they've never won.
But seriously, this team with foreign.
four and 13 last two years
three different head coaches
and you know who's looking like a fucking G right now
you know who's looking like a G
R KK
RKKK looking like a G
I think he's the only owner
to bring three different coaches
three different quarterbacks to a Super Bowl
he's been in and a fuck
this is his 12 Super Bowl
my guy needs to be in the Hall of Fame
crazy yeah this is this is case
for Hall of Fame. If he was borderline before,
I don't think he was, but they say that.
They got to put him in. You got to put him in.
He's looking.
He's looking, him and Jonathan, man,
looking smart.
And if you look at the, you know,
the first two dynasties, the big threes,
Brady, Mr. Kraft, and Belichick,
Brady's got a Super Bowl.
Mr. Kraft went back to a Super Bowl.
That's it.
I want to say. And we'll see what North Carolina does this.
We'll see. Hey, no, but I'm just saying,
everyone, Mr. Crap, man.
Everyone was talking about everything else.
Mr. Crap, looking pretty damn smart right now.
What are you most impressive with this Patriots team, this edition?
I'm so impressed that they hit on every defensive player that they brought in in free agency.
I'm really impressed that Rabel got everyone to believe.
I'm super impressed Milton Williams.
You spend a boatload of money on him.
What's he do?
He goes and be a, he's a fucking menace in the.
playoffs. He's a menace. Barmore had the blood clot a couple years, whatever, dealing with that.
We forgot how beastly he was. You put him with Milton Williams. You got the guys on the edge
Landry and, you know, they hit on a lot of those guys. And I'm super impressed with Josh
McDaniels and how he has developed Drake May. Drake May hasn't played his best game in the
playoff yet, but he's gone against the best goddamn defenses there is in the fucking league.
They're the only team to beat three of the top five defenses in the league on the way to the Super Bowl.
I mean, he's calcified for the Seattle defense.
They've been going against Benito, Cooper, last week, Hunter, Anderson.
The week before you get Tonga and Minters and that deep.
Like, they've been going against tough defenses.
The fact that, you know, he learned from his mistakes the week before he looked like Drake was thinking about taking care of the,
the ball early in the game.
He didn't want to lose the game.
But look, this guy's in his second fucking year.
And it's going to be sunny in the Super Bowl this year.
We hope.
Second year.
Yeah, way ahead of schedule.
You know, and sometimes this is something we always heard.
In the playoffs, it's not about the team that makes the most, most plays.
It's about the team that makes the least amount of mistakes.
Plays are going to be made.
You got to make more plays, though.
But the team that makes the least amount of mistakes,
I definitely botched that.
Someone's going to be watching that.
He used to say that.
Well, Rabel said earlier in the season,
he wants a team that's good enough to take advantage of bad football.
And that's what they are.
They are the identity.
I hear them talking about identity.
I'm just so, I'm so excited for them.
Yeah.
Just, I mean, fuck, dude.
That's, it makes me proud to be a patriot.
Makes me proud to be a part of this.
this is
this is sick
everyone
everyone is fucking like
oh fuck the chiefs
they're out yeah
they're out
Patriots slide right in the back door
again boys
and it seems very eerily
very eerily similar
to when the Patriots
for the first time
had to go in and play that greatest show on turf
everyone thinks oh Seattle's gonna win
they're gonna blow them out
four and a half points right now
the spread when it could be five look second year quarterback defense first man what a this was just a
this was it was like i was waiting i'm sitting there like are they going to continue to play mistake
free i was waiting and and they did drake didn't fuck up a snap or you know campbell was struggling
a little bit at first but then josh started calling the plays to protect them
I mean, that was a tough task, man.
You're on the road.
I don't care about stidum.
I'm talking about the offense against that defense
in a home environment for that team.
That's tough, man.
That's a big time win.
Nine and O on the road.
First time in NFL history.
Wow.
Fucking, that is big boy stuff.
I don't care about schedule or anything.
Okay, even if you're supposed to win them
in the National Football League, it's hard to win them.
especially this time of year
especially this time of year
man I feel bad for Stidham
because you know
after those first couple drives
did you think Stid thought to himself
man I'm about to make hell of money
I'm about this shit
I'm about to be a suit
oh man I'll go to the Super Bowl
you think Stid he was thinking that
he had that smile early in the game
nah that Stid though he's just
he's just a confident cool dude
and you know he played he played his butt off
I mean he hasn't thrown a ball in five years
whatever it was.
And he goes out and that we were all sitting there like, oh, shit.
No, he ain't going to do that, is he?
And then the Patriots tightened it up, you know,
and the Patriots tightened it up.
What do you think of two pretty big moments towards the end that Christian
Gonzalez, shout out of Chris Gonzalez, go watch our interview with him last week,
that pick?
I mean, that's what I, I didn't say.
Chris Gonzalez, but your big time players making the big time plays when the team needs it.
You know?
And yeah, it was an easy pick, but a lot of guys could drop that.
It kind of reminded me of that Steffel on Gilmore, Super 53.
Where they got confused with Goff in the Super Bowl, and he was in the right place,
didn't panic, fucking close the door.
Christian Gonzalez came on the fucking pod.
That's, you know, that's why you come on the pod.
some good shit going.
You hear that Patriots?
I think Pac-Man's
song went to number one
after coming on this pod.
Yeah.
We're getting...
I don't think he did, but...
We're getting a copyright strike on YouTube.
We've got to clear that up.
Pac-Men said we could use it.
I'm just saying.
Hey, shout out to Stacy and Patriots.
Shout out to Stacy James, man.
Good luck show.
You know, and shout out to everyone
all the people behind the scenes in New England
that, you know,
they were there during
fucking Rome and then it crashed
and then all of the
you know what I mean
the Stacey James the Jim Waylins
the training staff
the people that are behind the scenes
in the tunnels man
this is just cool
and they get to go into a new practice facility
next year I think too
man it's so cool
and let's hope they're not practicing
near the electrical station
yeah we can't be crashing
we gotta be away from that
we gotta get in Redwood City
we got to bring them to Redmond
Morton. Bring him to Redmore Park. We'll take the Patriots. We're going to come out to
Redwood City by hometown. I got barbecue. We'll have a couple of Polynesia's roast of pig.
We'll have dinner for you guys right after. We'll give you the whole Redwood City experience.
Then we'll go down to Chavez Meat Market. We'll get some goddamn meat for after the practice
number two. We'll make some tacos. Maybe then we'll go to Harry's Hofbrow day three
because there's three practices
and we'll bring in a nice cater from Harry's.
Come to Red Morton.
Get away from the power plant.
We don't need no fucking injuries.
Man, I'm juiced.
I couldn't help but think of Ernie Adams.
And shout out fucking Leonard Taylor.
Tip.
The block.
That was block.
I saw it right away.
I saw it.
I was like,
because you couldn't see shit,
but you saw the ball come off
and then it changed.
I was like,
oh, someone got that.
Did you hear what Will Lutz said?
That there might have been,
that they might,
the offensive line lined up a yard too close.
So his kick was a six yards from the line of scrimmage instead of seven yards.
And maybe that one yard was a trajectory.
For sure, trajectory.
Yeah.
That you couldn't see the line so there was a little bit of skew.
Hey, man.
Operation.
I couldn't help but think of Ernie Adams screaming at the TVs.
You got to switch to the seven studs.
Oh, 1,000.
I was looking for guys.
When Drake slipped on that one where there was a phone.
I was like,
Oh my God.
They better be,
but Vraibs has heard that.
You know Vrabs told them seven studs.
They were wearing seven studs.
The thing is,
Brabs is very much what we were just an evolved version with EQ.
He knows that,
like he's just a person that's been in it
that knows how to speak from the experience of the dog shit grind of it
and the believing in it
and the repetition of practicing it
and the repetition of everything matters about practice.
And when we see it in practice,
it turns into game execution.
He just delivers it in a different communication.
New rapper.
Same message, new package.
Yeah.
I mean, I'm so excited for these guys.
Fucking Josh McDaniels and the boys back in.
And you got to, Elliot Wolf, man,
or whoever's calling shots at bringing guys in,
I don't know who is.
All the guys they brought in made plays on defense.
Receiver room.
Diggs was a huge.
kickstart to getting that attitude in that receiver room going.
Hollins too.
Hollins too.
Huh?
Hollins, Matt Collins.
Hollins.
He came in, made a big third down early to flip.
Like there was a lot of field position.
There was a field position battle of this game that they were playing.
And that Matt Collins third down where he, that flipped the field position.
They didn't score anything, but they got it out of the goddamn end zone.
They were in the eight yard line.
The Broncos were winning the field position game all fucking first half.
Their punter was crap.
crushing it too. Punter. That guy's got the
Coughlin corner. Yeah.
Oh, man. It was
just, you know, it wasn't
like, for
the fan who's
not a fan of these teams, they're like
that's a boring game. Yeah, yeah.
But the fans of
these teams were sitting there watching it.
Like, you're on edge the whole time. You're
one play away, especially you get into
Snopocalypse, whatever it was.
Like, just hold on
boys. Hunker down.
And then one last thing, the Drake May conversion with his legs to end the game.
Did he do it on his own?
I heard that he saw it and went.
But just like you look at the box score, he didn't have a great game per se passing,
but like showed up, made the play with his legs when he had to to win the fucking game.
Yeah, but this team and this coaching staff, they do a good job of adjusting to the game
and doing what it takes to have one more.
point than the other team.
You know, the in-game coaching of when we should go, when we should push them back,
when we should, you know, punt it, when we should kick the, I just felt like, or how we
were calling our game, they, I think they, like, gave up back at, like, at the end of the
game, they ran three in a row and they had Drake throw it away just so they wouldn't get
a fumble or anything.
Like, I know you got to go out and win games.
You can't try not to lose games, but there's different parameters on different
conditions of these games.
I thought the coaches have, I mean,
one penalty, zero turnovers,
defense fucking play big boy
ball, which no one talks about
the Patriots defense. We talk about everyone
else's defense, but the Patriots
are giving up like goose eggs of these teams.
Yeah, the offenses haven't been good they're going
against, but they're in the playoffs in the
AFC championship. You know what I mean?
You're in the divisional round. You're in the wild
card. These are only, you know what I mean?
So that defense,
they tackle well,
I didn't like Spillane got hurt, hurt his ankle.
They got, they got banged up there.
He needs to get healthy.
But like, man, they're deep, they just got, they got, they got a complimentary football team.
And I was waiting for Marcus Jones maybe to, I love as a punt returner when you got snow
on the ground.
Yeah.
You have better, you have an advantage.
Yes.
I remember taking one back against Chicago, two, almost two in Chicago.
One got called back and then I got tackled like on the five and the other one.
I was thinking Marcus Jones is going to, he's going to make a play.
I had the same nerves reverse and kind of happy that the Patriots kept kind of like
muffing, not muffing the punts, but having shitty kicks just because we're out of balance,
whatever.
They're not going to return it.
I'd rather lose the 20 yards and not have to return or two.
Yeah.
I think, you know, both these teams, it was a great game.
It sucks to see that Denver had their backup.
You got to see if, you know.
But hey, this is National Football League.
Everyone's dealing with something.
Yep. And then one last thing, Milton Williams might be reverse Chris Long. Hear me out.
Won a Super Bowl with the Eagles last year, signs with the Patriots back in the Super Bowl.
Chris Long, signed with the Patriots when the Super Bowl, went back with the Eagles.
It could be or Ligar-Blunt. Or Ligar-Blent. There you go.
All right.
What if mind control is real?

NLP was used on me to access my subconscious.
NLP, aka neurolinguistic programming, is a blend of hypnosis, linguistics, and psychology.
Fans say it's like finally getting a user manual for your brain.
It's about engineering consciousness.
Mind games is the story of NLP.
It's crazy cast of disciples and the fake doctor who invented it at a new age commune and sold it to guys in suits.
He stood trial for murder and got acquitted.
The biggest mind game of all, NLP might actually work.
This is wild.

A new year doesn't mean erasing who you were.
It means honoring what you've survived and choosing how you want to grow.
It means giving ourselves permission to feel what we've been holding and knowing that it's okay to ask for help.
I'm Mike Dolorotcha, host of Sacred Lessons.
This podcast is a space for men to talk openly about mental health, grief, relationships, and the patterns we inherit, but don't have to repeat.
Here, we slow down.
We listen.
We learn how vulnerability.
become strength and how healing happens in community, not in isolation.

Hey there, this is Dr. Joe.
Bessie Mills, Director of the Men's Clinic at UCLA Health and host of the Mailroom podcast.
Each January guys everywhere make the same resolutions.
Get stronger, work harder, fix, what's broken?
But what if the real work isn't physical at all?
To kick off the new year, I sat down with Dr. Steve Polter, a psychologist with over 30 years' experience,
helping men unpack shame, anxiety, and emotional pain they were never taught the name.
In a powerful two-part conversation, we discuss why men aren't emotionally bulletproof,
why shame hides in plain sight
and how real strength comes from listening
to yourself and to others.
Guys who are toxic, they're immature,
or they've got something they just haven't resolved.
Once that gets resolved,
then there comes empathy as in compassion.
If you want this to be the year
you stop powering through pain
and start understanding what's underneath,

Hey, what's up, y'all?
this is Questlove recently. I had the opportunity to sit down with Aesap Rocky ahead of his album release.
Don't be dumb. He reflects on his journey from his Harlem roots to global icon status,
discovering the hip-hop origin of his name. The ledge was on the TV.
Rakim had the bucket hat can go during the past. I was like, that's Rakim. That's who you named after.
I just was like, my swag.
Rocky offers a window into not only a boundary-breaking artist, but as a man committed to fusing creative ideas,
community and remaining unapologetically himself.
Have you ever gotten roasted for any of your outfits?
For sure.
Some people don't be getting the vision.
Look, they could roast me, they could cook me, they could deep fried meat, they can saute,
whatever they want.
It's nobody who can't be with my fashion sense and my taste is impeccable.
I'm just like, I impress myself a lot.
It's an amazing conversation.
One, you definitely don't want to miss.
So listen to the Questlove show on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcast.

Hell of a fucking game.
Let's move on to the Rams versus the Seahawks.
Let's talk about this NFC game.
This was a, you know...
Complete opposite game.
Complete opposite.
Complete opposite.
31 to 27, Seattle holds off the Rams.
And I talked about it all year.
I think I even threw it in a group chat or two.
When everyone was asking me,
I said, I called Patriots Seahawks.
going into this weekend.
I love the Rams.
I love Matt Staffer.
I love the story.
And everyone was saying,
would Sam Darnold be able to make the plays,
not make the mistakes?
The Seattle team is just so complimentary.
I thought that the Rams special teams
would fuck up a play.
And I've been saying it for weeks.
It would cost them.
And it cost them.
That was the week, though.
It sucks.
It sucks.
Fire the special team's coordinator.
You know, and it brings me back to this thought.
I remember someone in our coaching staff used to say it or something.
Like all those dark thoughts that you have before bed, those demons about your team that you sit there that keep you up.
When you go to the playoffs, they don't just fucking, they don't go away.
They're magnified.
They come out.
and that's what happened.
I mean, that was the game.
The one turnover.
That's the game.
Sam Darno played his best game of his career.
Three touchdowns, 364 yards, didn't make a mistake.
Guy didn't even practice all week.
He got the oblique.
But like they called a great game.
Called great game on offense.
You know, Walker was very, he was effective.
He wasn't what they really want, but they're not a crazy going to win you a run game.
JSN had an unbelievable first half.
Unbelievable game.
I mean, this was just a star study.
Puka had a great game.
Adams too.
Adams had a great game.
This was a fun game to watch.
It definitely felt like two divisional rivals.
The one that pissed me up.
The one thing that I thought was going to get Seattle was that penalty.
On sportsman like conduct penalty?
On sportsman like, and then he got.
burnt the very next play that was the football gods right there slapping them down you hey man this is
a championship game you can't do that and he's gonna learn from that 27 he's a good football player
yeah for the seahawks but he man you can't do that yep that only hurts your team man you guys
would have got off the field that could have that could have fourth and 12 you know it was fourth and
12 after you know they they would have got the ball back they go on and score to puka the very next play on a
bomb on him.
You know, this just came down to me is special teams.
It's a third of the game.
That's really what it was.
Because everyone, I mean, and other the fact, one thing I always thought, I don't know
if I have any stats to back it up, but like when it was important, L.A.
Rams struggle getting off the field on defense, right?
Yep.
And then on the other side, the Rams, they had their worst third down day.
of the year.
One for eight.
Can't do that.
Nope.
You know,
Mike McDonald,
like talk about
impressive turnarounds.
And you talk about,
you know,
you got to talk about
the Seattle team for a second.
Yeah.
This is the third time
in last 20 years
with a different coach,
different quarterback
that they're going to the Super Bowl.
You know what I read yesterday?
That every time
there's a new pope
Seattle.
The Seahawks go to the Super Bowl.
I think they win it usually.
They lost with Pope Benedict against the Steelers.
I don't know what it is, but it happened again.
I saw that.
Yeah.
And you got to John Snyder, GM for the Seattle Seahawks.
I mean, the balls he had to bring in Sam Darnold,
and he got him for a great number.
But no one thought Sam Darnold could do it again.
Yep.
without JJ, without Addison in Minnesota,
without KOC and the play calling guru.
We didn't think he could go out here to Seattle
and ship off their big receiver, Medcaf,
and have this little young JSN guy
who had a really great couple years of his career.
Yeah.
But we didn't know.
Like the defense, John Snyder has gotten dialed.
With the help of McDonald, probably very collaborative.
You know, I had lunch with John Snyder when I was coming out for the draft.
He was with the Packers at the time.
I was going to sign with the Packers because of that.
He was just a cool dude, new ball.
Like, he's just a good, look at this team.
Like, they don't have a hole.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
The hole is one of their really top two good running backs got hurt.
They have another really good running back, Walker.
You know, Sam Darnold played his tail off.
Raheed, she heed, trade in the middle of the season.
Unreal.
Yeah.
Brings another dynamic piece on special teams,
brings another dynamic piece to break the top off for JSN to eat.
Have we ever seen?
Cooper Cup.
Cooper Cup.
Cooper Cup on situational plays.
Did you see that third down where he caught it?
and his sticks awareness
where he got the ball
and he knew where he had to go.
That's a smart fucking football player.
Every time he gets the ball,
he gets vertical and gets as much as he can.
He doesn't do this dancing because he knows.
He's smart.
He's effective.
He's not the same athletically as he was
when he was triple crown winner.
But this guy's making big time plays for his team
when they need him.
And he's unselfish.
He does great in the blocking game.
Had an unbelievable blocker.
for a JSN on a screen.
AJ Barner developed an unbelievable role.
Yeah, it's fun to see him this season.
It is.
I mean, he was here in the Nut House.
Yeah, Chuck L.
L. brought him just here if he wants to know.
And one thing he talked about, he said,
I was at Michigan, I never really been a receiving tight end.
I said, you just keep on blocking guys.
And if you can catch your ball, it'll come to fruition.
And that's what he's done.
Man, that was, you got tip your cap to both teams that lost.
that unbelievable year for Sean Pate and the Denver Broncos.
They're still in Cappell.
They're ahead of schedule too.
They're still in Cappell.
From Russell?
Just from whatever.
Yeah.
We don't call people out.
Okay.
Tip your cap to the L.A. Rams.
Sean McVeigh, if we would have said the year before or in training camp when we saw
fucking the machine that got Matthew Stafford back or whatever the fucking
trailer was there we wouldn't have thought that trailer that Matthew staffer was going to have 50 fucking
touchdowns and nine interceptions or whatever it was this year probably probably MVP or an MVP
he's probably going to get it and we didn't think that got tip your cab it's hard to get there
it's hard to get there it's hard to get there it's hard to get there and then also you got tip your cap
