Hello, hello, all my people, what's up?
It's Questlove.
Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with the one and only ASAP Rocky.
He reflects on his journey from Harlem Roots to a global icon status
and discovering the hip-hop origin of his name.
The ledge was on the TV.
Raqim had the bucket hat can go join on.
My post is like, that's Raqim.
That's who you named after.
I just was like, damn, that fuck I swear.
But listen to the Questlove show on the Iheart radio app.
Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcast.
A new year doesn't ask us to become someone new.
It invites us back home to ourselves.
I'm Mike Delarocha, a host of Sacred Lessons,
a space for men to pause, reflect, and heal.
This year, we're talking honestly about mental health,
relationships, and the patterns we're ready to release.
If you're looking for clarity, connection,
and healthier ways to show up in your life,
Sacred Lessons is here for you.
Listen to Sacred Lessons with Mike Delocho on the,
iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
This is Dr. Jesse Mills, host of the Mailroom podcast.
Each January, men promise to get stronger, work harder, and fix what's broken.
But what if the real work isn't physical at all?
I sat down with psychologist Dr. Steve Poulter to unpack shame, anxiety, and the emotional
pain men were never taught how to name.
Part of the way through the Valley of Despair is realizing this has happened, and you have to
make a choice whether you're going to stay in it or move forward.
Our two-part conversation is a very important.
Available now. Listen to the mailroom on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, for wherever you get your favorite shows.
This season on Dear Chelsea with me, Chelsea Handler, we've got some incredible guests like Camel Nangiani.
Let's start with your cat. How is she? She is not with us. She...
Great, great, great way to start. Maybe you will cry. Ross Matthews. You know what kids always say to me?
Are you a boy or girl? Oh my God. All the time. That's so funny. I know. So I try to butcher up for kids so they're not confused.
Yeah, but you're butching it up is basically like Doris Day.
Right?
No, I turn it to be Arthur.

Welcome to games with names.
I'm Julian Edelman, and we got a brand new compilation highlight reel starting now.
Now, Vince Wilfark on why he hated the Jets.
Now, how much did we hate the Jets?
And we hated the Jets.
it was like we headed the Jets people people sleep on that low key and the crazy thing is I told bill one
day I said coach you know you have to let you got to kind of let us know like why like what's the
why you know because I mean no when we know jets coming up we like uh after Jets yeah why like why we got
so he kind of explained to us and like oh okay we got you like but we just wanted to the way
like we're going to ride for you bill but at the same time and like
You're telling me to do something and then talk trash to somebody.
I don't even know why.
What is the why?
I know.
But you know how it is, you know, everybody has that one team.
Division, Boston, New York.
He's that one team, you know, so.
There's a lot.
Yeah, man.
But Bill hated him especially.
Yes, he did, boy.
With a passion.
Let's get into these Patriots.
Let's get in these.
Speaking of Bill, these were the New England Patriot, led by Coach Bill Belichick,
12 and 4.
Josh McGainer running the offense.
Maddie P. running the defense.
Coming off that Super Bowl lost to the Giants, brutal.
And then in November, big one acquired a Keeb to leave.
That was huge.
Gotta love Keeb.
Notable rookies on this team, Chandler Jones, Dantah High Tower, Nate Ebner.
It's a pretty good draft class.
Really good draft.
And we talked about this earlier.
This was like an all-star team, practically.
557 total points.
Just whooping up on people, putting up numbers.
10th consecutive, 10 plus win season.
Yeah, we had a squad, man.
Like, dang, Brandon Lloyd did that.
B Lloyd. Lloyd.
Deon Branch.
West Welker.
B. Lloyd was low-key, one of the best
Rout runners I ever played with.
Yeah.
He was so, you remember, he was like smooth.
Yeah.
The Pink Panther out there.
Like, we had a squad.
How about Akeeb to leave?
How fun of a teammate was he?
He was great.
You know what the crazy thing is?
I remember when we played against Tampa and, uh...
We got in fights with them.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We all hated him.
And I remember tell her leave.
Like, hey, I'm from down this way.
We don't want to play this game.
And soon he comes to the locker, we traded for him.
We looked at each other.
We chopped it up.
We started laughing.
I'm like, man, I'm glad you're on our score out, man.
Let's go do this.
Hey, you remember the first game?
He got to pick.
Oh, yeah.
And I'm like, he was out of shade.
Mid-season.
Yeah, yeah, mid-season.
I had to get him in shape.
Yeah.
I was the one who was running one-on-ones with him after practice.
Great team, babe.
I love to leave, man.
Right.
He funny, too.
Hey, Big V, fuck you, man.
He was funny.
is so fun.
Great teammate,
great team.
I mean,
I love guys that has a mentality of,
hey, whatever it takes to win,
that's what it is.
We're going to wear a chip on our shoulder.
I want you to match it.
And we had that.
That's the thing we had.
You know,
we had guys that's just like,
we're ready to bite a chunk out of your neck.
We didn't care.
You know what I mean?
Without a doubt.
Now, I just have one,
another question, random.
Like, what did you and Randy used to talk about
in stretch line?
Me and Randon?
Anything other than football?
Anything other than football?
We used to play catch.
Yeah, I remember.
We used to break up offense and defense,
and Randy would be over in the defense with Big V.
Yeah, we used to talk about nothing.
And you remember every, what it was,
every Friday, me and him had our one-on-one we did.
We used to do our one-on-one every Friday,
but, man, we used to, man, we didn't.
Explain that.
What do you mean to one-on-one?
So Randy would be a DB.
I would be a receiver and pet will be the quarterback.
Oh, pet.
So I would run routes and Randy Garvey, you know.
That was out every Friday.
How many?
Who won them?
Me.
Every time.
I won majority of them.
Yeah, he had a couple of them, but I won a majority.
About 80% I won.
80%?
Yeah, I beat him down.
Did you ever have to cover him?
No.
That wasn't a rule.
I didn't ask him to be an offensive line.
So I'm like, you can't play your position.
We both out of position.
Do you remember Randy watching like,
didn't he watch Dateline every Friday night or something?
And he would fucking explain it to the receivers and the receiver meeting.
For like the whole receiver meeting on Saturday would be Randy breaking down what I was on date line or 60 minutes.
Randy was funny.
He loved that.
And then this motherfucker tried to cut this dick on.
I'm like, I'm like a rookie.
He's just like, oh my God.
Oh.
Now, how was it going against Dante Skar?
Echio, offense alliance.
I love Scar.
Scar?
I love Scar.
And one of the best teammates I over here is Logan Makins.
Oh, Meg.
Make, let me tell you, that's probably the best teammate I had.
Why?
I love.
Just because of what he stood for.
It's just, he's a man's man.
Like, he's just tough, lovable.
Just a rider.
Like, he fight for you?
Yeah, like, I don't care who you are.
If you're a patriot and you met.
Oh, it's going down.
Oh, yeah.
But it was just his mentality, and he was just a great football player.
He's just a tough player.
Yeah.
I love players that's doable and just tough.
I love tough players.
Give me a tough player any day over anybody with talent that's not tough.
Give it to me.
Yeah.
Simple as that.
He was also cattle ranchal strong.
Yeah, when a big big booker.
He would wear the same thing every day.
Yeah, he don't care.
That's my type of guy.
Like, come in from hunting.
Remember how him and Matt, like,
used to come in from hunting with blood on them.
Like, it's the craziest thing ever.
Like, I love that, you know.
I love that.
They come in, shower up.
They got blood.
They just killed some turkeys or whatever.
Dead turkey in the fridge.
You remember when they brought the duck and put it in Donald Thomas's fucking locker?
That's what I miss.
I don't miss the game itself.
I miss the camaraderie just hanging out in the locker room two, three hours after we finished
and just sitting down and drinking and gatorade and just hanging out in the locker room.
Like, it's nothing to be leaving at 7 o'clock, 8 o'clock.
No.
It's 20 of us, you know, and that's how you build camarader.
That's how you build a team full of leaders and understanding what it takes to win.
We had that.
We did.
We had that.
And you could tell the teams now who have that in their locker room, how they play.
Yeah.
You know, so that's what I'm hoping to see from this new era in New England.
It's just bring that camaraderie back.
brain put football first like we used to main thing the main thing exactly because a lot of times now
it's more stuff outside of football people concerned about and football is secondary it's it's tougher
for these younger kids too though they're getting thrown this cheddar in so many different ways and
it's such a pivotal thing to have your social team your fucking brand and i mean i'm a product of it
yeah right but i still keep the main thing that you know it's just that's that's that's the factor you
have to. And that's how, and that's why I retire
you, because I saw the rookies coming in and I just
didn't, I don't like what they stood for. And I'm like,
this is not how
I, I came through and I learned the ball and played football.
Like, football is first. Well,
God is first, then football. Yeah.
You know what I'm saying? But they was coming in.
Football wasn't even on radar. We would have
guys leave the locker room, didn't even shower,
drop their clothes and head and go, I'm like,
what's some. Shower pill?
Like, right? Full shower pill?
It is what it is. The Brady?
Let's rip through the
Gotcha
Let's move through the game
All right
Leading into this
When the paths
We're writing a little bit of a slow start
Start out one and two
Lost two of the first three
But got back on track
They're coming into this thing
Seven and three
The Jets meanwhile
Four and six
Trying to find some hope
And salvage this season
But as we know
That did not happen
First quarter scoreless
That's a Thanksgiving game
Thanksgiving game
Thanksgiving game
Prime time
Fellas
What's it like
playing on Thanksgiving.
I like it.
It was cool.
I mean,
it's tough playing on the road on Thanksgiving.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
But you know what?
At the end of the day,
it's like, you know,
business is business.
We got to do what we got to do.
That's right.
But I would rather be home
on Thanksgiving and playing the game.
I would tell you that.
Me too.
But I always also thought of it as like
when we were home and kids,
we would be at home.
We were watching football,
but we'd all be playing football
before the football games
and before the feast.
So it was like a privilege that we're playing pro football
fucking Thanksgiving.
All eyes on you guys.
Yeah.
And I always was a big believer like any prime time game, you'd only show on.
Yeah, I love that.
So you have to show up.
You know, so Thanksgiving, that was one of those things like, man, this is Thanksgiving.
Then you know, like turkey lid.
Who going to get the turkey legs?
Yeah.
So, yeah, it's like, it's a big deal, especially in the football community.
It's like Thanksgiving football games.
People look forward to that stuff.
1,000%.
Now, before we get into this game,
What's the Will Fork household look like during Thanksgiving?
What's the lineup of food?
Well, the craziest thing is I don't eat the way I used to eat in the more, but I still cook.
But it's like I'm smoking.
I'm smoking turkey.
Smoking turkey.
We haven't dressing.
We have some mac and cheese.
dressing, mac and cheese.
We have some red beans and rice.
Dressing for you, white people, that's stuffing.
You know, red beans and rice.
Red beans and rice.
We might have a roast.
You never know.
A rope roast?
Yeah.
Beef?
Pork.
Pork.
Yes.
Pork roast.
And then you know.
You got all the desserts.
What's the thing?
You got the apple pies, right?
You got the sweet potato pies.
You got to go.
And you got cakes.
So let's rock them.
Like, let's rock and roll.
What's the gravy situation?
What do you mean with gravy?
Like red beans and rice.
They got, they got his own juices.
So you put that juice on the turkey gear?
Yeah, man, look here.
Man, I told you I'm smoking my turkey.
So it's going to be a little.
So yeah, the red bean and rice, baby.
We don't eat no gravy.
Okay.
I see.
Uh-huh.
Ha-huh.
I like this.
I like this.
I've been to the house.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
I had it before.
It's damn good.
What's Lyman Thanksgiving like?
Oh, man.
For an offensive lineman Thanksgiving.
Is there a defensive line at the house?
Yeah, it's probably sometimes.
But the same thing.
Like, back then I cooked a lot more.
Yeah.
Because I had, you know, had a dang on team to feed, you know.
So everybody knew when it was time to eat or a holiday and we had to be in time, they know where to come.
Yeah.
You know, so we would sit out there.
We'd eat all day.
and share good stories, you know, and just hang out.
Like, we always find ways to, and it sounds like offense had their thing,
D-GAR's anything, right?
But, you know, you did it.
We cross over every once in a while.
Yeah, every now and then, you know what I mean?
I went with Randy.
Randy used to go to your house a bunch.
And so I went with Randy once to Big V's.
Yeah, like, it was over to everybody.
Like, I care less.
Like, you know, my teammates was my teammates.
That sounds awesome.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. Should we run through this game real quick?
Run through it. All right. We start this thing off in the second with a guy that was Johnny on the spot all night.
Steve Gregory picks off San Chito. That sets up our first touchdown in the game, Brady to Welker.
Up 7-0. Sean Green fumbles. Who is it this time again? Johnny on the spot? Steve Gregory.
Recovered the Balaugh the Sean Green fumble. Pardon me. Then a little swing pass.
Vareen goes 83. Up 14-0. That brings us to the moment we're all here for a moment that still lives an infamy.
nine minutes and 11 seconds left in the second quarter.
Jets 31 yard line.
Mark Sanchez goes back for what looks like a handoff,
bit of a broken play,
scrambles forward.
He meets Brandon Moore's butt.
The ball is out.
Who is it again to recover it?
Steve Gregory,
back to the house.
21-0.
We got to dive into this moment, though.
And the funny thing is we started this episode by talking about 2GAP.
Yes.
And that right there is the definition of 2GAP is when you,
blow them up so much that it runs the runner into the blocker.
That's like, that's called recreating the line of scrimmage.
Oh yeah.
Like, give us beat for beat.
Well, it's fight pressure with pressure, right?
So it's like, you know.
So pressure with pressure, meaning the offense align guys pushing pressure at one
direction on Big V trying to probably wall them off in a certain direction.
So Big V's got to put that pressure against that because he wants to attack that area.
Right, right.
You want to always fight pressure with pressure because that kind of tell you where the ball is supposed to go.
And like I say, on that play, honestly, you know, Nick didn't come directly at me aggressive.
And Brandon didn't come to me directly, you know, aggressive.
So I was stuck like, okay, who to attack?
Remember, right?
I have two gaps.
So who to attack?
I can't attack this guy and be out of gap.
And I can't attack this guy because so in that millisecond, it's like I had to make a decision.
So if you see, I was basically in the middle of that gap.
with both of them and trying to understand.
And once Nick, I felt Nick kind of leave, I knew then,
I had to fight back.
And he had, Brandon, it was on my shoulder.
So that's why it's like I kind of trying to get my arms back and press.
And once I press, that's why, but before my happen,
because I guess that gap closed fast enough for Sanchez.
And he didn't realize how fast it was closing.
So that's what happened on that play, brother.
Did you feel Mark Sanchez run into the offense alignment through you or no?
No.
I just felt once I press Brandon felt and then when I looked up, the ball was gone.
I'm like, oh, fumble, you know, but I didn't know he ran into his butt and fumble like that.
You know, I had no idea.
Can you imagine being that strong?
Listen, listen, 300 and we'll say in conservatively, 45 pounds.
That's perfect.
Other side, 300 probably.
at most 315.
So the pounds of pressure
that these two men are literally
trying to kill each other for.
And Big V is so strong,
another 215 pounds
hits that and he doesn't feel it.
You gotta be fucking strong for that.
And that's what, like, I just remember
Big V would, I would see Big V come in
the weight room and just put as many
plates as you can see on the thing,
do his like four sets,
and then just dip out.
Gone been.
Like, that's how strong that.
You've got to be fucking strong to do that.
That's a real man right there.
That's a man's man's man, baby.
And then after this play, we get what caps off 21 points in 52 seconds.
Jules takes the ensuing kickoff to the house after you're blown up,
catches it off his helmet.
Dev runs it back in there.
An RIP McKnight, man.
That's sad.
My guy's not here, but, you know, that Devin hits him.
Godio.
Good players got to be in the right
time. That's right, baby.
They were ready.
You were ready. Come on.
Then you added on a 56-yard touchdown from Brady.
What a bomb.
35-0-0-pats are up.
Jets get on the board to end the half,
35-3.
And then speaking of big hits,
Jules gets knocked out to start the third quarter.
Shut out of Ron Landry, sorry.
Big-ass motherfucker.
You know what?
And that's the football gods right there.
You know what I mean?
Because sometimes when you say,
feeling yourself.
Yeah.
I'm still a young ball player at two touchdowns, doing some shit.
Feeling good.
Feeling good.
I'm going to take this reverse.
I'm going to try to cut it back into all the pursuit.
Kha.
Reset button.
Complete.
I don't even remember the game.
You played really well.
I played really well.
Man, early Thanksgiving for you there, brother.
And then we in this thing, 49, 19.
Big V's out there getting the turkey leg.
That's right.
Everybody.
How did that taste?
How's that turkey leg?
Is it good?
It's cold?
Yeah.
Too cold.
It was cold, yeah.
I always thought about that.
It was cold, but I'm like, I don't want to be on national TV, just killing this whole thing.
Let me just go on.
Just take a bite and go on by my business.
Was it seasoned?
Yeah, it was seasoned.
If it was warm, I would ate off.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was good.
Yeah, it was good.
See, I'm a hot food guy, too.
I need my food burning hot.
Some stuff, I can eat cold.
Like, I'm not a big fan.
Like, I don't care.
Like, what can you eat cold?
Like, I can eat chicken wings cold.
I can eat piece of cold.
Yeah, fried chicken.
I can eat spaghetti cold.
I can eat pizza cold, but it tastes better if you do like...
Yeah, it tastes...
Of course it's going to taste better if you warm it up.
I'm just telling you what I'll eat cold.
Yeah, I get it.
Every January, we're encouraged to start over.
But what if this year is about slowing down
and learning how to understand ourselves more deeply?
What if this year is about giving ourselves permission to feel what we've been holding
and knowing that it's okay to ask for help?

Hey, what's up, y'all?
This is Questlove recently.
I had the opportunity to sit down with ASEAP Rocky
ahead of his album release.
Don't be dumb.
He reflects on his journey from his Harlem roots
to global icon status,
discovering the hip-hop origin of his name,
The ledge was on the TV.
Raq Kim had the bucket hat,
Kengo join the apostles.
Like, that's Raq Kim.
That's who you named after.
I just was like, my swag.
Rocky offers a window into not only a boundary-breaking artist,
but as a man committed to fusing creative ideas,
community, and remaining unapologetically himself.
Have you ever gotten roasted for any of your outfits?
For sure.
Some people don't be getting to vision.
Look, they can roast me, they could cook meat,
they could deep-fried meat, they could saute, whatever.
They want.
It's nobody
me with my fashion
sense and my taste is impeccable.
I'm just like,
I impress myself a lot.
It's an amazing conversation.
One, you definitely don't want to miss.
So listen to the Questlove show

Apple Podcast, or wherever
you get your podcast.
This season on Dear Chelsea with me,
Chelsea Handler, we've got some
incredible guests like Kamail Nanjiani.
Let's start with your cat.
How is she?
She is not with.
That's it.
Okay, great, great, great way to start.
So this is a great beginning and hopefully you'll be able to, I don't know, maybe you will cry.
Amanda Seifred.
Life is so short.
If you feel something like that, you have that fire in you for this experience, it's not for a guy.
It's for the experience of being in love and like it's bigger than a guy.
Elizabeth Olson.
I love swimming naked so much.
And I know you love taking pictures of yourself naked.
I love to be naked.
I just want to be in my brawomen.
to her all the time.
Ross Matthews.
You know what kids always say to me?
Are you a boy or girl?
Oh my God.
All the time.
I know.
So I'm always like, hi.
I try to butcher it up for kids, you know, so they're not confused.
Yeah, but you're butching it up is basically like Doris Day.
Right?
No, I turn into Be Arthur.

Hey there.
This is Dr. Jesse Mills, director of the men's clinic at UCLA.
Health and host of the Mailroom podcast. Each January guys everywhere make the same resolutions.
Get stronger, work harder, fix, what's broken? But what if the real work isn't physical at all?
To kick off the new year, I sat down with Dr. Steve Polter, a psychologist with over 30 years' experience,
helping men unpack shame, anxiety, and emotional pain they were never taught to name.
In a powerful two-part conversation, we discuss why men aren't emotionally bulletproof,
why shame hides in plain sight, and how real strength comes from listening.
to yourself and to others.
Guys who are toxic, they're immature,
or they've got something they just haven't resolved.
Once that gets resolved,
then there comes empathy as in compassion.
If you want this to be the year,
you stop powering through pain
and start understanding what's underneath,
listen to the mailroom on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your favorite shows.
Next up, Corey Dillon on how he was traded to the New England Patriots.
We know you as a Cincinnati Bengal.
Yeah.
that's what this game is.
But let's talk about your,
when you went to New England.
Oh,
wow.
Let's talk.
How did that happen?
We all,
we know,
but I want to hear from you.
I want to hear it from you.
Well,
well,
here was a situation.
I got hurt in 03.
So I think I,
you know,
partially tore my,
what was it,
MCL,
tore my groin.
So I was,
I missed like eight games,
man.
I was on the show.
And this is back in the day
when,
Running backs were getting like 800 carries a year.
Yeah, so I was on the shelf and RIP to my guy, Rudy Johnson, man, he came in and stepped up and he played very well.
So I was thinking like, hmm, and I'm getting up there.
This is like my seventh season.
And there was rumors of, I'm sitting at home, and there was a rumor of the Bengals trying to trade me to Dallas.
And I'm like, really?
I said, okay, okay.
I said, no problem.
I mean, I'm just saying in my mind, I'm like, yeah, just keep that same energy when I get all healed up.
And I'm going to finish out the season and we're going to reopen this situation.
And, yeah, I went in.
I was speaking to Marvin Lewis and I was just like, you know what?
It's been nice.
I think my time is up here.
I like to move on and go somewhere.
And it was just as simple as that.
And I'm just looking at it from a standpoint of seven years, man, I was, we didn't win that much.
And I'm, and I'm kind of, you know, looking in the mirror and looking at my career of, man, I probably got two to three more left.
Where do you want to go with this?
What you want to do?
So, and then as you know, like, I heard this.
I heard this a lot.
It was media play of the Patriot Way.
I didn't know what the hell that was.
They got a cold over there or is it something militant, some kind of, you know, I didn't.
And the media was like, oh, yeah, Corey's not a Patriot Way guy.
That would never work.
And I'm just thinking like, shit, maybe I don't want to go there either.
I don't know.
You know, I just like to play football.
And Rodney Harrison, we had the same agent at that.
time. I give him big props. I think he went in there and spoke on my behalf, you know,
and that's where the interest kicked up and, you know what? I didn't think I was ever going to
get traded, to be honest with you. I was just talking shit. Like, yeah. Yeah. You know,
give me a body or whatever. And it picked up. It picked up. And next thing I know, I'm actually
chilling at home. And I see across the ticker like, oh, man.
Bangles trade Corey Judge.
That's how you find out?
Yeah, I'm like,
bottom ticker?
Like, I'm sitting there with a piece of chicken.
Like, wait, wait a minute.
Like, what?
And then, you know, I get the call.
I get the call.
My age, he's funny, man.
He's funny.
He's like, yeah, man.
It's going down.
So you're a patriot now.
And that's a whole, whole different experience, man.
No, who calls you?
you first from the Patriots.
Actually, let me kick back until how it really might transpired.
I actually went down and seen Scott and Bill first.
I didn't, I'm just meeting them and just saying, you know, hello.
And they asked me a couple questions like, you know, you know Bill's straightforward.
Yeah, Corey, I know all the shit going on in Cincinnati.
And I just, I told them straight up.
I was just like, man, it's all predicated on me just wanting to work.
win football games.
And he asked me one more question.
He said, you know what?
You think you could play for us?
I was like, absolutely.
We kind of, it was like a two to five minute meeting, got up, left.
Never thought about it.
Never thought about, you know, they actually trade for me.
Kind of left it alone until it came across the ticker and was like, oh shit, it's,
it's going down.
So, yeah, it was, it was simple.
It was just a simple process.
of, I don't know if that was tampering back then.
I don't know.
I don't know, but it was Scott Piole and Bill.
And, yeah, two to five minutes, man.
We're out of there.
Bill just needed to hear you say, I just want to win.
That part of it.
That's all he.
That part of it, man.
And there's 1,600 yards, 12 touchdowns, your first season.
That's all he wanted to hear.
Well, that as well, but he just wanted to see it.
If he was about winning, then he believed that his.
environment, he would adapt to it.
He would see Tom Brady.
He would see Rodney and everybody else.
And then you know what?
The whole thing about the Patriot, well, you know what?
I just kind of figured out is just doing your job, which I was pretty damn good.
One of the best.
Doing my job and being quiet and, you know, I'm like, yeah, I can do this.
Absolutely.
So I think my personality kind of matched like what they, what they wanted.
You know, because all I wanted to do just go out there and play football.
And I didn't really care on how it looked.
As long as they were winning, I'm good with it.
So you're coming from Cincinnati.
Yes.
What's the first thing that comes through your head when you enter New England?
Because they already, they just won the Super Bowl.
They just won the Super Bowl.
Yeah, man.
You get into New England.
What do you, like fuck.
Pitching yourself?
That part of it.
I'm like,
yo,
like,
that's what, man,
I'm going to tell you,
I'm going to be straight up,
man,
that's a lot of pressure,
man.
It was a lot of pressure.
Because I'm thinking like,
damn,
they just won a Super Bowl.
What in the hell
did you need me for?
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
So that's a lot of pressure.
And then it was the whole thing of
me leaving Cincinnati going there.
So that was,
was a story itself and then the patriot way is he got to fit in or not but once i got there man
you know i don't played against these guys for a long time i know some of these guys man we're cool
so the thing i loved about it is like from a from a organization and players perspective
they welcome me you know it was it was cool they made me feel at home and that kind of took
some of the pressure off and some of the stuff I was thinking.
And then when it comes down to it, man, to me it was like, man, all I got to do show up and play
ball.
And that was the only focus on my mind.
And if I do that, man, everything's going to work itself out.
So, and that's basically what happened in 2004.
I just showed up and play ball.
What was the first encounter with Bill like?
Oh, man.
You know what?
After you guys signed.
Hey, I kind of got the feeling like Bill is not the person to be fucked with me.
I'm dead serious.
He had this fear factor with the players of like, man, he is not playing no game.
So if you ever said in some of them team meeting rooms with him, he is funny as I don't know.
I mean, got a funny sense of humor.
But he'll tell you like, hey, man, you don't want to do it my way.
I will walk you to the door myself.
Yeah.
And he's serious.
So I took that man very, very serious.
And I was like, man, I do not want to do anything to get on this man bad side.
So, yeah, it was a self-checker for me.
Like, man, I'm always on top of my game because he will call you out.
Oh, yeah.
How was the O line?
Like, how was light?
Was like just the funniest human being in the world?
God, he was, man, always, always pulling some kind of joke or talking shit or something along
that line.
I mean, he kind of lightened up the, you know, the room.
And, oh, man, it was him and Drewsey and the rest of the guys, man, it was just funny.
Yeah.
I think we had a real, that offense was real, real fun.
I mean, even though, like, we knew the assignment and at times, things are so.
super serious and we're all about the execution.
But, you know, we had we had some funny guys on that, oh, where things, I mean, even
into like situations out there on the field where made things kind of light and we're like,
oh, man, we got this, you know, so Matt Light is one of those guys.
He was always, coach, hey, coach was always on him like, Matt, shut the fuck.
He was like, get quiet.
He's always cracking some kind of joke.
So it was good, man.
That whole team, man, that 014.
Young Brady-ish.
Kingsbury was in there?
King Brady then.
Man, I tell you one thing, man.
This is when I got there, man.
I love the guy because you know what?
I'm just getting there.
And we'd be in some pressure situations out there.
This guy did not flinch one bit.
You ain't never seen that.
I have never seen that.
And you can identify with this.
Like when that guy calls your number in that huddle,
man, you'll run through 10 brick walls for this guy.
I mean, there's a situation.
He was like, hey, Rock, he used to call me Rock.
He's like, Rock, we need this first down to seal this gang.
We're giving it to you like three times in a row if we have to.
And I'm like, bad, I got this.
You know what I mean?
And bro, sure enough.
like, man, it was just a little extra pep in my step.
Yeah.
He called me out like, yeah, we need this.
Three times in a row.
Let's get the first and seal the game.
So hell of competitor.
I just loved his mental aspect about the game.
He first went in, first went out, had the whole locker room respect.
Good dude, man.
Good dude.
If he was here, he'd be hanging out talking shit too.
Yeah.
Yeah.
that's the type of person.
Maybe one day.
Maybe one day.
Maybe one day.
Yeah.
Hey,
you like the president now.
It's hard to catch up with this guy.
Maybe one day.
Hey, man.
Can I get a,
Hey, man,
can you,
can you friend me on IG?
Something, man.
Hey, we got a better luck
to getting the Pope in here for the crowd.
Man,
man.
That's right.
He's a football guy.
Hey, man.
Who is the team asshole?
Oh, my God.
But that we all loved.
Let me see.
Oh, my God.
There's some,
There's some guys out there.
There's the Braebles.
There's the...
You hit it.
You hit it.
First try.
Oh, man, Braves is something different, man.
Always going against the grain.
Like, no, this is not.
Why are we doing this?
You know?
Yeah.
So, and him and him and Bill was always into it about something.
Braves is a good dude, though, man.
good, yeah, that's, Braves, man, hell of a player, man.
Smart, smart, smart, smart player.
And, you know, this is, they preach this.
This is what Bill wants.
Tough, smart football players.
Braves is one of those people.
Oh, yeah.
How do you think he's going to, do you know he's going to be a head coach?
Did you know he's going to be?
I never, I never thought about that.
I'm like, I used to run his ass over in practice.
Now he's the head coach.
coach someone. I look at this guy
man, but
no, man.
It fits him. Yeah. It fits him, man.
He was one of those brilliant minds
out there. If you watch the
Pats at all? Yeah, I catch him.
You can't win when it's turn it over
five turnovers. You can't do that.
You can't win like that.
So you were a bona fide star when you got
up brought into New England and they were just coming off of a
Super Bowl. Was there any issues with jelling
into the roster? You know
what? I had, this
this is my brother too man
Kevin Falk, bro.
Hey Feezy.
Man, this guy,
his locker was right next to mine.
And he used to say, man,
bro, you're here for a reason.
You know what I mean?
That made me feel comfortable.
You know, like, you're here for a reason.
You know what I mean?
And there are some things I couldn't do.
Kay Falk was a monster.
He was the Swiss Army knife.
He could do it all.
Like, my big ass ain't going
out there running no routes like Kevin Faw?
Yeah.
I ain't going to work.
So I think me and him just talking and him letting me know like, bro, do your thing.
You know, this is a team.
Nobody's bigger than another guy.
And I really felt that coming in that building like, man, we're going to go out here.
And I never was a stat guy anyway.
I never really sat back and like, oh, I need 100 yards.
game, I just go out there and play, man.
You know what I mean? And whatever happens at the end of the game, that's what it is.
But that guy was like, yeah, man, you're here for a reason.
Let's go out there and get it.
And we compliment each other like good.
Yeah.
And it was one hell of a running back as well.
He was.
I played with him.
Yeah.
He was older.
He was older when I got there.
Yeah.
But he taught me how to catch puns.
He's my punk guy because he was the hands guy.
And then on top of that, like, he shared everything.
Me and him chopped it up.
We talked.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Play.
Great teammate.
Great, great teammate.
He filled me in on things I needed to know.
Yeah.
So, yeah, that's my bro, man.
Shout out, K-Fa-Fall.
Now, take us through when you win a Super Bowl one year in.
Oh, wow.
It's like it worked.
Yes.
Patriot.
What?
Yeah.
What a patriot way?
Yeah.
Yeah.
And it was, listen, I've been chasing that part of football since I was pop warning, man.
I always get to the big games, maybe take a L.
Never won one.
High school.
You know, never getting to the state championship.
You know, so I've been, that's been hunting me for the longest of actually getting
into a championship game and actually winning one.
I think that that Super Bowl just to me
Like kind of satisfied that
That child
Football player in me and was like
Yeah we finally got it
Heck yeah
I mean nothing like it
Nothing like it
There is nothing like
Like winning a chip man
You know what I was like a deer in headlights man
You sit there and you see that ball being kicked off
And all those flashes going off at the same time
You can get overwhelmed
I was like, oh shit, where am I?
Yeah.
Until I got hit, and then I came back to reality.
It was like, yeah, man, we're in a football game.
And the Eagles at the time was pretty, they were pretty stout, man.
That was a very good team we played and ended up edging them out by three.
So good game.
T.O. came out with a broken leg and got 1.30 on him.
And we're still bawling.
Still balling.
I was like, he's not human.
He's not.
Who is this guy?
But it's crazy because it's.
you were like the first star brought in to the Patriot Way.
Yeah, yeah.
Do you think that it eventually,
yes, it did.
It got them to get Randy Moss.
Yes, yeah.
So, hey, I never, it was never spoken, you know.
And I didn't really, I didn't really think about that until well after I was done.
But I truly believe, maybe I'm wrong, Bill or call me or shoot me a text if I'm off, if I'm off beat.
with this. But I think
the way I
conducted myself there
kind of opened up the doors for
the Randy Mosses and other guys.
I do too. For sure. And Bill
used to reference you all the time
in a great way.
I love Bill, man. Bill is
I had a great respect for him, man,
because you know what I? I think
I understood him. I got him.
You know what I mean? Like,
either you could do it or you can't.
And he's, you know, let me know.
I think I'm kind of like that in my life too.
Like, can you do it or not?
So I understood, I understood them.
And then also I understood the assignment.
Like, I get you.
I'm not, I'm here, I'm here just personally, like,
I'm going to give you all I got.
You know, I'm going to go out there and play my ass off.
Don't worry about that part for me.
And I think that just kind of ties into everything.
he preaches and what he was about.
And we had a, we had a, we had a real good, good relationship.
Yeah.
That's good to hear that.
A new year doesn't mean erasing who you were.
It means honoring what you've survived and choosing how you want to grow.
It means giving ourselves permission to feel what we've been holding and knowing that it's
okay to ask for help.

Hey, what's up y'all? This is Questlove recently.
I had the opportunity to sit down with ASEAP Rocky ahead of his album release.
Don't be dumb.
He reflects on his journey from his Harlem roots to global icon status, discovering the hip-hop origin of his name.
The ledge was on the TV.
Rakim had the bucket hat king.
gold joiner. My pauses, like, that's Rakim. That's who you named after. I just was like,
damn, that my f*** got swag. Rocky offers a window into not only a boundary-breaking artist,
but as a man committed to fusing creative ideas, community, and remaining unapologetically himself.
Have you ever gotten roasted for any of your outfits? For sure. Some people don't be getting the vision.
Look, they can roast me, they could cook meat, they could deep-fried meat, they can saute, whatever they want.
It's nobody
with my fashion sense
and my taste is impeccable
I'm just like
I impress myself a lot
It's an amazing conversation
One you definitely don't want to miss

Let's start with your cat
How is she?
She is not with us
Great, great way to start.
So this is a great beginning and hopefully you'll be able to, I don't know, maybe you will cry.
Amanda Seifred.
Life is so short.
If you feel something like that, you have that fire in you for this experience.
It's not for a guy.
It's for the experience of being in love and like it's bigger than a guy.
Elizabeth Olson.
I love swimming naked so much.
And I know you love taking pictures of yourself naked.
I love to be naked.
I just want to be in my Ronald world.
all the time.

Hey there.
This is Dr. Jesse Mills, director of the men's clinic at UCLA Health.
and host of the Mailroom podcast.
Each January guys everywhere make the same resolutions.
Get stronger, work harder, fix, what's broken?
But what if the real work isn't physical at all?
To kick off the new year, I sat down with Dr. Steve Polter,
a psychologist with over 30 years' experience,
helping men unpack shame, anxiety,
and emotional pain they were never taught to name.
In a powerful two-part conversation,
we discuss why men aren't emotionally bulletproof,
why shame hides in plain sight,
and how real strength comes from listening,
to yourself and to others.
Guys who are toxic, they're immature,
or they've got something they just haven't resolved.
Once that gets resolved, then there comes empathy as in compassion.
If you want this to be the year you stop powering through pain
and start understanding what's underneath,
listen to the mailroom on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your favorite shows.
Next, the play that keeps Julian up at night.
Hey boss, just a quick question for.
is there a play that keeps you up at night that maybe it's lost a game for you know the Patriots and
and it still bugs you to this day?
I have like three.
Two from the Patriots, one from high school.
One from the Patriots was against Baltimore, I think, in 2019.
Humphreys, I hit a play or it was 2018 or 2019.
I hit a play and then Humphreys that Tom threw me a quick ball and I,
and I like bobbled it.
I was trying to keep up,
and he stripped me and he housed it.
Housed it.
Went and freaking housed it.
And they took momentum and won that game in Baltimore.
That keeps me up.
That's when Humphreys was still young.
He was like, he was a feisty player, man.
He was brand new.
I had a lot of respect for him.
And then another one was later in my career.
And there's more.
Like, actually, I'll go early.
one in my career.
They're against the Giants.
In 2011,
I had a punt and I got fumbled.
And like, it was bad.
We were, we lost that game in Foxborough.
Who is the tight end?
Jake.
Bailey?
No, the punter.
Jake, something.
He was on the Giants and then he came to our team the next year.
Oh, let me look this one up.
And he's a friend of mine, actually,
so I should know that.
But, you know, I got hitting the head a lot.
Next up, Jules and Carissa.
Thompson tell their favorite Randy Moss stories.
Ever since the Randy Moss story.
Oh my God.
It's so good.
I love that.
With his mom?
Yes.
Oh my God.
I love that.
So, you know, prior to you coming, I worked with Randy Moss for the first couple
years of the kickoff show.
And it was before I would do game breaks.
So I didn't have to stay all day.
So I would leave right after our show.
And me and him and Champ Bailey, we would always go to Rosco's.
And I was like, you know, like, I'm like, I'm with my big brum.
brother, so I was okay. Like, I would never, like, go wander around by myself. And just, like,
I was wearing, like, full dress, like, full makeup. They're being like, what's this chick doing
in here, right? And they would always protect me, and they were always so great. And that's, like,
one of the many things I love about working at Fox. And you know this now. For just even your small
amount of time that you've been there, like, it's a family. Definitely a family. They're the best. And, like,
Randy, the stories, I could just listen to Randy Moss stories all day. Randy, he's full.
And it's his accent.
Yeah.
His accent's so funny.
I mean, I was just doing a, I went to, I went back to Boston, I went to this academy.
So what is it, Thayer?
Thayer.
Thayer.
Thayer. We went to Thayer.
And I spoke in front of the whole school, you know, the junior high and the high.
The junior high and the high.
You know, I went to Kent State.
Come on.
I want to start saying that.
Forget the school part.
You know what I'm talking about.
The junior high and the high.
The junior high and the high.
And after you're taking pictures and all these.
like little sixth graders. They're all over here like,
Edel Nut, Edel Nut, Edelnot, Edel.
That's hysterical. I'm sitting like,
you guys should not be listening to my podcast.
There's too many. Where are your parents? I need to talk
to them. You're listening to New Heights. Come on.
It's for all ages. That's not true. We're listening
to all the podcasts. I know.
And you've done a great job. Now, Brandon
Bolden tells the insane story
of the Patriots flight home from the White House.
Obama was the president.
We went to the White House.
You remember the plane broke?
Yeah. And you remember what we
ended up. The airport
bar? You know how we got there?
No.
Me, Ryan, and Steve
and Steve
Belichick. Remember
they bought them sandwiches in there?
Which one does?
Those fucking triangle cut
wrapped in foil
like they toasted the bread.
And Steve Belichick was like
I'm not eating this shit and he threw
it and the motherfucker got stuck in the wall.
And so we looked at
age,
I was like, man,
fuck it,
we just go walk around,
go to the bar.
We bang a corner.
It's a bar.
There's not a soul in there.
It's one girl
working behind the bar.
So we're just like,
I'm going to order food.
I'm going to order a drink.
I'm going to just hang out.
Because why?
Explain what were we doing?
We were,
we just met the president.
We were going,
we were going back to New England.
Now, mind you,
when we got there,
do you remember that landing?
Bad landing.
Bad, terrible landing.
They were so bad.
like I tried to lay down
and it was at one point
I was above everybody's seat
and I was laying flat.
Wow.
So we landed.
It was like,
oh man,
that was crazy.
It was a windy day?
I don't think it was.
That's the crazy part.
Wait,
no,
it wasn't a windy day.
That's when we came back
and it was like,
hey, y'all need to go in this room
because we got to find you another plane
or we have to fix this plane.
So it was like,
okay, the plane was fucked up.
That's why the landing was bad.
Cool.
It's me.
Chung there?
Yeah.
Chung is that when Chung got terrified and flying?
Yes.
That's right.
So you don't remember this at home?
Because I wasn't at, I was chilling doing some other shit stuff.
Yeah, you came later.
Yeah.
You came.
By time you got there, half the team was at the bar.
This is after Bill told us we wasn't supposed to go anywhere.
But like I said, the food was terrible.
And he had no choice but to let us go.
I had to go.
So we're eating.
And as we're eating, here come the assistant defensive defensive
of coaches. So then
phone come out, then here come all the running
backs. Then here come the receivers.
Here's a D-line. Now
here comes Maddie P in that whole crew.
Here comes Joe Judge.
Bro.
And it's so funny
because I don't think nobody knows the
tab we ran up. Because
nobody paid for shit. Well, we end
up paying at the end. But like I said,
I had food and I had my
drinks going and we were all together.
So then I think it was
Maddie P or, what was the D-line coach?
Oh, D.C. for the Raiders?
Not D.C.
Nah, it wasn't Pat.
Pat?
It wasn't Pat.
He was.
Brandon Daly?
Daily.
Daly was like, no, no, no.
Fuck that.
Put everybody on one ticket.
And like I said, it was one girl.
Now, the cool thing about this one girl,
when they ran out of liquor,
she didn't bat her eyes.
She didn't say anything.
All she said was,
I got to run down to the duty-free shop
and I'm going to grab some of a liquor
and I'll come back.
Well, they was like, well, grab a bunch.
So she came back with like two boxes of liquor.
So boom, she puts that up.
We ran through both boxes.
So now, oh, y'all playing ready, y'all can head to the gate
and this, this, and the third.
It was like, I'm standing there
because I just want to pay for what I had and I can go.
Man, that girl pulled that receipt out
about this long
and I saw
four zeros
and I said
who about to pay
for all this
Mattie P said
I got it
and data was like
nah I got it
so that whole day
was defensive
coach and staff
paid for that
good
good
and so we get on
the plane
and then that's when
all that fun
that we just had
and all that camaraderie
that's when
that shit just
went downhill
because now
This coach is throwing up.
This person's passing out.
We can't find this guy.
And it was just a shit show.
But that was by far the best plane trip we've ever taken.
Oh, my God.
Thanks for listening.

This year, we're talking honestly about mental health,
relationships, and the patterns we're ready to release.
If you're looking for clarity, connection,
and healthier ways to show up in your life,
sacred lessons is here for you.

This is Dr. Jesse Mills, host of the Mailroom podcast.
Each January, men promise to get strong.
stronger, work harder, and fix what's broken? But what if the real work isn't physical at all?
I sat down with psychologist Dr. Steve Poulter to unpack shame, anxiety, and the emotional pain
men were never taught how to name. Part of the way through the Valley of Despair is realizing
this has happened, and you have to make a choice whether you're going to stay in it or move forward.
Our two-part conversation is available now. Listen to the mailroom on the IHeart Radio app, Apple
podcasts for wherever you get your favorite shows.
This season on Dear Chelsea with me, Chelsea Handler, we've got to be.
some incredible guests like Kumail Nanjiani.
Let's start with your cat.
How is she?
She is not with us.
She.
Great, great, great way to start.
Maybe you will cry.
Ross Matthews.
You know what kids always say to me?
Are you a boy or girl?
Oh my God.
All the time.
That's so funny. I love it.
So I try to butcher it up for kids so they're not confused.
Yeah, but you're butching it up is basically like Doris Day.
Right.
No, I turn into Be Arthur.
