I don't care what anybody says.
It doesn't matter what time of year it is.
I never get tired of online shopping, especially during the holidays.
Here's the thing.
It's kind of gross out.
Even those of us that embrace the chilly weather need something to break up long winter nights. Something I love
to do is treat myself to a little something, but I don't want to spend a fortune on my winter blues.
That's where Quince comes in. I'm absolutely obsessed with my Quince luggages. I took them
on tour. I brought them home and they're still like brand new. I'm pretty much obsessed with
this brand, but there is something else that everyone needs in their closet, in my opinion.
Quince's iconic Mongolian cashmere sweaters, which start at $50.
Or if you want to really up the luxe factor, check out their Italian leather handbags,
washable silk skirts, and European linen sheet sets.
Whatever you're looking for, all Quince items are priced 50% to 80% less than similar brands.
Quince only works with factories that use safe, ethical,
and responsible manufacturing practices.
Treat yourself this winter without the luxury price tag.
Go to quince.com slash B-U-N-N-I-E for 365-day returns
plus free shipping on your order.
That's Q-U-I-N-C-E dot com slash bunny, B-u-i-n-c-e.com slash bunny b-u-n-n-i-e to get
free shipping and 365 day returns quince.com slash bunny is this thing on me and nobody's like me phone ringing and i tell them it's right i got life you're on what's up you sexy motherfuckers welcome to the new dumb blonde unrated
we have moved platforms baby and we only did that for your viewing pleasure because we want to get raunchier.
We want to get dirtier.
We want nudity.
We want fucking all sorts of weird shit happening.
And YouTube won't allow it.
So welcome, welcome.
We're so happy you're here.
And of course, the first person I had to have on the podcast whenever we were moving is none other than Zadisaurus Rex.
Yeah.
Told him.
Hey, hey, hey, hey.
This is awesome.
What's up, daddy?
I always love doing this, man.
It's like fucking bringing a little piece
of our private relationship into the public.
Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, whatever we have that's private
because, I mean, we're pretty fucking out there.
Yeah, pretty open.
You're a cock star now and some more shit.
Yeah, my pecker's on the internet.
So it's fucking, it's there now.
Let's paint the town red, baby.
That's it, baby.
Yeehaw.
Swing out a little thing.
So let's talk about the album you just dropped.
Yeah, Self-Medicated.
It's awesome, dude.
I really, I don't know what to say.
It's just well received. It's awesome, dude. I really, I don't know what to say. It's just well-received.
It was 18 songs.
It was longer than any project I've ever done.
So that was different for me.
But we had just so many, like quarantine.
I wrote so many songs.
At the beginning of quarantine, we were like, what the fuck are we going to do?
And we literally sat down as a family and we were like
okay this is what we need to do to survive we need to pump out content and just change the
directory and like quarantine really motivated you to fucking just it did flip yeah it definitely I
mean I always pump out a lot of music but quarantine and the pandemic was just like man
you know it's just scary so you just you just work how many videos did you drop
with this album this is like a new rollout they gave me the count the other day and i forgot it
was like seven or nine god i thought it was like 13 for sure yeah definitely high but i mean you
pretty much we've definitely dropped over 20 this year 20 something this year yeah i mean it's been
a crazy year for content you ever felt like
you had to sneeze and you're just like i wish that motherfucker would hurry up yes it's been
happening for three minutes fucking straight i mean if you stick it's like welcome to dumb blonde
i'm over here like if you stick your finger up your butt i think talking about it just i'm never
sticking i wouldn't stick a q-tip up my ass i wish but never i have a new but it's gone now so i talked it away
but i mean it was rough dude i was sitting here talking to you about the pot the album going
should i tell everybody what my new fantasy for you is no
well i'm going to anyways so my new fantasy for daddy is i always go through these like
like phases of fantasies with him because he tells me he tells me no to everything I fantasize about.
So I was thinking this one wouldn't be too bad.
He said, I got a maybe for my birthday.
So that gave me a little fucking glimmer of hope.
And I'm just like, oh, my God, I want him to lay on his tummy and I want to pour baby oil all over his ass and his
back.
And then I want to fucking get on top of it and just slide around.
God.
I'm literally going to feel like a fucking manatee.
You know what I'm saying?
It's fucking, it's like, I'm going to feel like an orca.
Just all laid down.
Just all lubed up.
Fucking just mad. A lubed up orca. Just all laid down. Just all lubed up. Fucking just mad.
A lubed up orca.
Oh my God.
Nothing about it sounds good.
Oh, it sounds like heaven to me.
Dancing Chachi.
Chachi agrees.
If you're catching that right now, this is great.
Chachi is with the shits.
Okay.
He is totally with it.
All right. Let's get back to this album.
Let's talk about some of the tracks that you have on there.
What would your favorite track be?
this album let's talk about some of the tracks that you have on there what would your favorite track be i am i'm like a guy who has a new favorite track on the record all the time yeah
like two weeks ago it was dance with ghost and i think this week is one more ride
yeah i like um 5 a.m oh with mercules i love the hook on that like just love it yeah i love that
mercules came in and just really rapped, too.
Oh, yeah.
He texted me after he sent the verse.
He was like, was that too rappy?
I was like, no, it's exactly what the song needed.
Oh, let's talk about fucking Save Me.
Wow.
Whoa.
Have we done a podcast on Save Me?
I don't remember.
Have we?
Did we talk about it?
Thank you, Manager Mimi.
Let's talk about it again.
Yeah, it never gets old.
I mean, you're at like 40 million now now right 45 50 million streams across all platforms 22 million
on youtube below crazy 25 million streams away from a gold record oh my god baby every day so
please if you've watched it watch it if you guys more times a piece everybody listen if you guys get
daddy a gold record we will release a porn fucking in front of that gold record yes i agree on only
fans and i'm gonna do everything y'all would stream away babies i'll do everything y'all
expect my white trash ass to do with that gold fucking front of it i will snort lines
we are going to do it right y'all it's fucking big yeah no i
remember he sent me that song and i was just like what did i say i forgot i was just like that's it
that's the one i wish i could remember what your language was because d-ray uses it all the time
oh i was like are we just shitting on people now i forgot what it was oh yeah we're shitting on
them or something yeah i was like yeah that's it. I was like, yeah, that's it. So they were like, anytime your wife says that, we can get that song out ASAP.
It was just as soon as I heard it, I was like, this is what everybody's been waiting for.
It was good, man.
I feel like my goal is to always make music that not only helps people, but touches on
subjects without being tacky.
Right.
So like, because I never want to be like a trending topic rapper.
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying?
You know what I mean?
But it's like,
I want to do stuff that touches on real life stuff without being as cliche of
being like,
you know,
and over like a lot of artists will,
um,
it's,
it's repetitive,
you know,
like the same sound,
same lyrics,
same,
always weird about trying to make sure that the sound is different.
Yeah, absolutely.
Sometimes the lyrics are different, but sometimes the content stays in the same realm.
But that's also just who I am as a human, you know?
Yeah.
So it's different, man.
It's definitely what I'm trying to do.
What about Promise?
What was your thoughts on like...
I love it.
I love it too.
It was for me and Jack's rock project.
No, I love it.
We hadn't talked about this publicly, but Jack F. It was for me and Jack's rock project. No, I love it. We don't,
we hadn't talked about this publicly,
but Jack Fowler and I are working on a rock project.
Jack Fowler is from sleeping with sirens.
Yep.
With Andrew Bayliss is producing it.
He's downstairs right now.
But,
uh,
Andrew Bayliss is producing the record.
And that song was one of the first ones we cut for that album.
And I just called him and was like,
yo,
please let me put this on self-medicated.
Yeah.
I was like, this song is like so jelly roll but so rock oh so good please please and shout out to ally fucking we love you ally over at spotify's rock playlist and she playlisted us
first time i ever got put on an actual spotify curated playlist ever yeah so that was really
cool man so i mean it was definitely definitely barrier breaking for me the video that you guys did with just the visuals oh yeah iconic dude i called don
don's another side of the room don i called don like awesome don morning we were all sitting here
and i was like yo meet me at the office we all got here at noon and at noon i was like listen y'all
i want to drop this video next week instead of this video and they said what video i'm like
promise you like we don't have a video for promise.
I was like,
I know we should show it today.
I know I was in Vegas.
I was so mad.
What?
I was like,
yeah.
And we just all started like brains.
I just had two simple ideas.
I was like,
we need to break something and we need to catch roses on fire.
That's all I had.
And next thing you know,
how deaf calls and he finds a bunch of TVs and Don and me go find barrels to burn yeah get roses and we were
like we should get some drums and perhaps no one just started turning up how fast could we come up
with shit to catch on fire but what an iconic video that day what an iconic shot though that
you guys got of you with the roses burning like that was just like dude i told don that's timeless
probably by default he's got my favorite picture maybe ever
absolutely just i mean we have a painting of it in our fucking house now like it that image is
burned in other people's minds that's how iconic it is you know it's just one of those things that
just happens by accident that literally just catches it's i told somebody the other day that
i really believe the picture sold the video oh for sure absolutely in hindsight the mistake we might have
made even was the uh thumbnail on the video is me tossing a single rose into a barrel
and we should have just used that picture of me holding them fucking dozen roses
you can always change it yeah you can always change the thumbnail um let's talk about loneliness
with ritz and then let's talk about the video too
because the video
was great
like you really came up
with some really cool videos
yeah no dude
the team has been
more together than ever
like we finally got
a full team
firing on all cylinders
shout out to Ryan Hood
High Definition
Jonathan Craig
Awesome Don
it's definitely
a group effort yeah so they had a lot of good ideas and the coolest
thing about Loneliness was they pulled it off without me and Ritz being together right but it
looks just like you guys are together exactly it looks at tone wise it's all set so perfect and
with it being a Lonely song I thought it would have been corny for us to be rapping together
anyway yeah so I just thought it was a really cool play and you know quarantining and not being able to
do shows there were so many little tiny what do you call them in the windows in your windows in
your windows there that were like parallel to what we were doing with the state of life you know oh
absolutely the mannequins the only thing that was wrong with it was not wrong but somebody's
perception was once like i bet that's how he feels when he performs.
And it's like, absolutely not.
No.
I feel like I'm in a room full of family when I perform.
Yeah, you're on fire when you perform.
It was just like, it was trying to convey the message that no matter where you're at in your life, you feel like you're alone.
There's always some dickhead who has to mistranslate something.
Yeah, that just totally takes it like, ah, he's performing to mannequins.
Yeah. I feel like I'm performing to my cousin. Yeah, yeah just totally takes it left. Takes it left. He's performing to mannequins. Yeah.
I feel like I'm performing to my cousin.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
When I'm on stage.
Exactly.
This is the opposite, which is why.
And anybody that's been to a Jelly Roll show knows that.
You are like so warm and just loving.
You will perform for two hours,
drink two bottles of fucking tequila,
and then go and stand in line
while people literally the entire fucking,
you know, what do they call them? The entire fucking people that come to see you the entire venue literally comes to meet you and you
shake everybody's hands one by one the crowd you take every shake everybody's hands one by one
sign their autographs take their pictures kiss their babies fucking i mean it's literally we've
stayed after like three hours on shows before oh Oh, yeah. And I get mad.
Oh, yeah.
I'm just kidding.
I don't get mad.
I'm just like, how does he do it, dude?
You don't get mad no more.
You just leave me.
Yeah.
See you back at the room.
I love you so much, baby.
I'm like the worst first lady ever.
I love it.
I love people.
No, you really do.
And Ritz, I mean, you can't go wrong with Ritz.
The motherfucker opens his mouth and he's just a lyrical assassin. Yeah assassin yeah yeah i love that he came in with the same cadence of the hook yeah
no he just literally second half of the hook when he came
i need faith these days
yeah yeah i think you guys feed off of each other too you guys always have a good time
let's talk about dances with ghosts only dance with ghosts it's great the video is almost a two million we talked about it today yeah it's the second
fastest growing video on the album besides i knew i told you it was going to do that i wish i'd
dropped it earlier i told you i dropped it earlier i said my exact words to to you or this is one of
those videos that snowballs yeah and you were like no i guess i mean it did everything
that you said it would it's a incredible the video is just insane yeah it was really cool
that you got viking barbie and kata to come out that was really cool shout out viking barbie
kata we'll talk about them in a second where i'm glad we get to talk about shit like that because
people don't get credit for what really made the video dope yeah our location fell through the day before the video yep ed clay let us use the
east ivy mansion on like six hours notice oh yeah no literally you know and it's like just perfect
timing for that you know what i mean together shout out ed it's just awesome lifelong friend
check out ed's podcast too yeah yeah but he he just he just didn't hesitate yeah he just
immediately was like yeah man cool i got i
got something going on but i'll clear it right now let me call him call and get them rescheduled
yeah so it's like shout out to ed for that and of course the whole team was just we just had a great
a great run there yeah no it was awesome what um inspired the song mama i was telling somebody the
other day when i wrote dance with ghost i was like I wrote a song about us when we first got together like our love you know wheels fall off and I've always wrote love
songs but they've always been kind of like dark and twisted and they've always been about the
progression of our love like down to Johnny and June on the same album yeah we'll talk about that
next I was like I never wrote a song about the woman I met like before love like I never wrote
a song about that not before love like before like you know
marriage like who was the woman i met it's like how do you encapsulate that in a record
and then that's where dance with girls came from mama was a hustling whore yeah
i still am i'm just you know very toned down had to tone it down for marriage but i it's a good
thing because i would have fucking probably been toothless by now.
We're not getting younger either.
I know.
He always tells me that.
He's like, bitch, how wild are you going to be when you're fucking 84?
Like, come on.
Calm the fuck down.
Yeah, Viking Barbie and Kata.
Let's move on to them really quick.
We are you, us.
The whole team is pretty much helping them get their first album out.
Yeah, we're producing music on Viking Barbie and Kata.
It's incredible.
Super excited for you guys to hear this shit.
Dude, I just hope that, like, I'm going to tell this part of the story
until I'm blue in the face with everybody who will listen,
but it was the music, but it had nothing to do with the Internet presence.
Oh, absolutely not.
It had more to do with the personal story when I got to know him.
Because you hit me about Barbie a while ago.
You should check this out.
And I was like, yeah, whatever.
And I never really did because I knew the online thing.
And I was like, I don't know if that's even something that's.
Can correlate together.
Yeah, I don't know how that would work.
You know what I mean?
And then when you started telling me, like, no, man, they've got like a crazy story.
And I was like, really? And then you told me a piece of their story. And then I got to telling me like, no, man, they've got like a crazy story. And I was like, really?
And then you told me a piece of their story.
And then I got to sit down with the girls.
And you're talking about, you know, two full blown drug addicts.
Heroin addicts.
Like real deal drug addicts.
Kata still has track marks in her.
She's only been sober almost a year.
Yeah.
I mean, you're talking about real deal drug addicts.
Right.
And it's like I write music so based on people who go through any
kind of struggle that i was like damn that's crazy and then overcoming that and then becoming who
they are you know what i mean it's like conquering the lane that viking barbie has and building the
presence and the machine that she's built over there and the way she creates content it's just
like man i was impressed by that but way more
impressed by it knowing that you fucking literally was shoving needles in your arm and yeah hair when
like and then i think it was you or her that showed me her before and after picture like you
like her fucking jail picture yeah and then her her picture i was like two totally different
bitches it's crazy you know what i'm saying i'm like today is her actually five year sobriety
mark oh dope i need to hit her up. Yeah.
But it's like, you know, you look at shit like that and go, damn, that's fucking almost weird.
Yeah.
And I just hope that people that listen to Jelly Rolls music don't look at these two girls and go.
Judge them. What the fuck does that got to do?
And it's like, because they have people, our kind of people have so much more in common with them.
Oh, absolutely.
Than they don't.
Yeah, than they think they do.
You know what I mean?
So it's like, that's the message I want to get out about the girls.
It's like, it was the total opposite.
Don't judge a book by its cover.
Read the book before you judge.
Period.
Yeah.
Listen, and they're also fucking like amazing writers.
Yeah, they're great.
No, the music's great.
Great for where they are
right right and it's only going to get better right which is why when we sat down with them
i was like i want to do it but i don't want to do an album i want to like really work like let's
commit to the doing this for a couple years and seeing you let's grow yeah because it's like
knowing that i don't i don't want to put a date on it because you know barbie's barbie will be like
no but like you know i'm thinking i don't know it's been a year or two that she's even been fucking with music.
Yeah.
At all.
Yeah.
You know, from a girl who literally had no musicality in her 26 months ago.
Yeah, picked up a microphone and started rapping.
To the kind of music she's doing right now.
And singing.
And singing.
Yeah, it's like, you know, I think that's a testament
just as to more of their personality.
And that's the story I want to get out.
You know, and I think once that story.
Kata, too.
Her voice is phenomenal.
Yeah, and in essence-
She gives Christina Aguilera a run for her money.
Yeah, Kata's one of the most talented people
I've ever worked with as far as like just raw.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's almost so raw.
She would cry hearing you say that.
Yeah, no, it's insane.
It's almost so raw that you gotta,
it's almost hard to even caps, put it in a capsule.
She's like a beautiful wild horse that runs on the beach.
Yeah, yeah.
And it's like, you don't know if you should contain it or fucking ride it.
Just let that motherfucker run.
Right, exactly.
Yeah, just let that motherfucker go.
You know what I'm saying?
Exactly.
She's just got a raw talent.
Yeah.
They've got a cool thing.
Yeah.
And I like the way they work with each other.
Yeah.
We're super excited for you guys to hear what we've been cooking up behind the scenes though for that
it's a lot and i got to direct three videos you got three videos yes did you get to see
not today yeah yeah i have a we have a lot of notes on it but yeah i'm sure
but yeah as expected yes for sure all right let's move on to johnny and june
yeah i talked about a minute ago it's our love song no you didn't talk about it you just touched
on it and i said we'll talk about that in a second yeah we talked about dances it goes
i'm a big fan of super cute video you know my thing was i I was always, the quote is, when they asked Johnny Cash what he thought heaven would look like or what his idea of paradise was, he said, this morning on the porch having coffee with her.
And he was talking about June.
And I was like, what a crazy fucking thing.
Like, what a great way to look at love, you know.
And it's a love story that i felt like ours resembled you
know and i wanted people to see that side of our love story because like they think we're more
that's why i said mickey mallory and that's why i said bonnie and clad because we get looked at
that way yeah and i think we resemble more you know johnny and fucking jim you know what i'm
saying we're very constructive we love being compared to toxic couples that's awesome and all
but we literally have just uh built each other up so much being together.
And that I don't think enough couples talk about that.
You know, what's up guys.
Just wanted to take a moment to tell you guys that this podcast is sponsored by Adam and Eve.com.

What are you waiting for?
It's time to buzz the bean.
And by the way, I don't have any fucking pants on.
Everybody talks about shit they go through,
but they don't talk about how much they build each other up.
And that's a real relationship is when two fucked up ass individuals
enter a relationship and heal from each other.
You know, like literally we taped each other's wounds up
and we're still doing it, you know.
But I've learned so much being with you
and just grown so much just in this
relationship so and ditto so i don't think people get to see that side of us because we talk about
it but we just touch base on it we don't ever really go in depth about it we're more humorous
about it than sincere yeah because it's more sincere yeah for sure better off alone with
mackenzie nico Great record, man.
She's got a great voice.
I think she found her niche doing rock, though.
If Mackenzie did rock, I think it would go for her.
I think she's got the kind of voice she can do whatever she wants.
Yeah.
She's just got such a broad range.
She's a cool story of like, she's finding herself now, too.
You know, like from her first album to her most recent record.
Yep.
And to what I'm sure she's writing now,
it just continues to get more impressive to me.
Like, you know, a lot of people, once again,
the internet was like, this must have been a favor for Travis.
Man, Travis did not ask.
I called Travis and said, hey man, I've got a record.
Man, you talked about it.
I think I should get Mackenzie on this record.
Yeah.
And I knew it needed a female voice.
I didn't like the way my voice sounded on the hook.
You know, it just didn't sound right to me.
And I was like, yo, man, let's get McKenzie on this record.
You know, and plus I know that her dealing with the mental health stuff
and her being a big mental health advocate,
that she would probably feel the record.
You know what I mean?
And it's like, dude, what people don't get about mackenzie
is like i just said about barbie and kata well kate has been doing a lot longer but like with
barbie is like mackenzie is young as fuck oh baby baby like like i don't think she's old enough to
drink or she might have just she might have just turned 21 or yeah she's young yeah she's young
young you know what i mean so it's like dude The internet can be so fucking cool. I can only imagine.
What she's going to be at 28.
31.
Yeah.
10 years from now.
Exactly.
I was thinking like, give her a decade.
Yeah.
And just fucking.
You know what I'm saying?
And it's also growing up in strange music.
You know, it's got to be hard trying to find your place in that world.
Oh, yeah.
For sure.
Tech is a fucking, you know know just an icon in his own
right and then you know you got chris over there you got other artists and you know here comes the
princess of the she's got an uphill battle because people are gonna be like oh she's daddy's girl you
know but she's really talented like the girl is just and she's super smart too yeah
and she's sweet yeah like you know when they personal story, Chisel died right before we went to the AFC conference.
I was supposed to meet Chisel there.
Yeah.
Me and Chisel and Bailey and Chisel's girl were going to go to the game together.
Yep.
Right.
So I said, well, cool, man.
I got the tickets.
You know, I've already got the tickets.
So just let me know when you're ready. of course he died like a week before so I called Travis
and said Travis man I can't come you know I just I feel there's a side of me that feels like I
should go to honor it for him but you know his funeral was like Tuesday it was the week of your
birthday I was like I just I don't feel right coming up there but I really still want my
daughter to go I'm gonna send my niece with her.
And Cheyenne, and I've got an extra ticket left over too, you know,
could you just make sure they're okay?
And Travis was like, absolutely.
We'll do one better.
We'll pick them up from the hotel room and take them ourselves.
So Travis and Mackenzie took Bailey and Kayla to the football game,
sat, you know, X amount of rows over from them.
They met between each quarter,
met at the halftime and left together.
You know what I mean?
And that was just so cool.
That means so much to us because that was such a rough time.
Such a rough time.
And Bailey didn't even know about the chisel situation.
So it helped get her out of the house so we could handle business.
So we were just like,
you know,
and it was just cool of that.
I just think that,
you know,
and Bailey just sings McKenzie's praise. Yeah. it's like a bigger sister yeah yeah she's so
sweet yeah i hope that would fire bailey up too yeah we're gonna get mackenzie on the podcast too
soon we'll get mackenzie on the podcast soon so people can get to know her story too because i
think that's really important yeah the other side of the story yeah the internet only knows you know
right her dad's a very successful right get her
side where she you know she's a huge advocate for bipolar awareness and just you know she's gone
through some shit yeah yeah so we'll get her on here to talk um let's talk about still my hero
with savannah oh what a great song my girlfriend we flirt all day yeah so the Bravo sent me that song
November last year yeah like literally it was like yo shut out buddy it's soon
it's right after he started back making music games like y'all got a record for
me like soon on over so he shot it You know, his father died a few years before my father died.
We always had that in common.
But we also had our relationship with our fathers in common.
Like, I used to see Bobby's dad all the time over at his house with his mother, you know.
And he'd always see dad over at our house.
So it was, like, kind of a cool thing.
And then when we were getting ready, I did the Savannah song and Kate never could.
And Bobby was I was like, yo, why don't Savannah re-sing that chorus?
Because Bobby was singing on his album.
I said, we'll make it a remix and we'll just throw it on my own self-medicated.
Yeah.
And Bobby was like, fuck, yeah.
You know, Bobby is like, I don't like I'm sure they don't mind me saying this he's like the brainchild behind that whole thing oh yeah for sure so it's
like bobby was just like didn't hesitate i was like yeah dude absolutely and i thought it was
cool that savannah didn't have a problem and yeah yeah y'all flirt online all day and i got to meet
her down there for the video shoot trying to bring her home she's she's sweet actually i think she
wants to come home with us yeah no no she's too. She's too young. Aw. But she's a... Whatever.
She's like Mackenzie's age.
Is she really?
Yeah, she's young, yeah.
No, she's 24.
I don't think so.
Oh, I think so.
I've done my research.
Okay.
Well, I thought she was like Mackenzie's age.
No, no.
She's...
I'll tell you this.
She's fucking taller than that light bulb.
She's fucking...
It's all right.
The longer the legs wrap around your face, daddy.
Sorry, Adam.
We're going to steal your girl.
I love the little thing that her and Adam Calhoun have i talked to her about it the other day i was like this shit is fucking hilarious she's like i know right uh with her and adam
how she's always like my baby adam yeah my baby daddy or something like that it's so funny yeah
i know and i think it's just internet yeah internet shit which i think's even coley yeah i think adam's
just fucking a sweetheart yeah you. You know what I mean?
He probably wouldn't want me
to use that word for him.
He's a fucking sweetheart.
Big old teddy bear.
Outside of his,
argh,
you know,
public thing he does.
Like, you know,
he's the kind of guy that,
you know,
you call and have a real conversation
but he's a good guy.
Yeah, yeah.
And you guys have actually.
I hear you guys talk
all the fucking time.
I think what's really cool
about this album
is just like with every album
that you always do,
you brought in Starlito,
you brought in Cushy, you brought in Lex Top Dollar. Yes, every album that you always do you brought in starlito you brought in cushy you brought in lex top dollar yes like you always honor nashville yeah yeah
it's important man it's like we're not we're not a big hip-hop scene so the little scene we got has
always been important to me to make sure we included it you know star put me on his last
record i love starlito i haven't even met star'll love him. As long as we've been together, yeah.
He's the best, too.
Crazy, right?
He's such a good guy.
I texted him last night.
He's having a rough week, man.
Big Rick and Rasheed both died this week, and they were really close to Star.
I hit Lito.
I was like, you good, Bubba?
I love you, man.
God, 2020 sucks.
Yeah, it's a fucking shitty year.
Like, jeez.
But he put me on the record because he's a, I can talk about it.
He never did want anybody to talk about it, but he's very open about it.
He's a new father.
Yeah.
And he's got a little girl.
And he loves being a girl, Dad.
It's like his thing.
You know what I'm saying?
He's about to get paid back.
Yeah, well, he didn't put music out for like a year and a half or two years.
He called it paternity leave.
Oh.
He just was like, literally was like,
that's why he called his album when he came back, paternity leave.
He was like, nah, dude, I just wanted to focus on the baby, you know?
So it's really cool, man, that we got on the song,
me, him, and Don Tripp, which was special too
because they don't feature together on many songs
because they're a group called the Step Brothers.
So it was cool that I got to get both of them per L both of them per lito and then i got lito on that record
the same night he was at the studio you know it just one thing i love about star is i call star
and it's no hesitation yeah you know struggle too i just noticed you got struggle on that album too
of course i mean but i mean i literally hit star up and i'm like man i'm at the studio tonight man
can you swing through he's like yeah i'll be there 11 o'clock with his old typical let's show up at midnight night time fucking night
owl night crawler but yeah he shows up yeah we got struggle so the cool thing about that song was
whaling and willie for which i talked to struggle about on text yesterday yeah let's talk everybody's
asking can they have whaling and willie for for. Just sit still, man. Santa might show up, baby. Santa might show up.
But that was one of the songs that was on Waylon and Willie for.
And I was like, I don't want to put the record out without Struggle
because I hate dropping music without him.
So I was like, I'm going to just take this one and put it on there.
Yeah.
That's what I did.
Struggle didn't care.
I'm sure.
No, he didn't give a shit.
I don't even think I told him.
I think he just seen it when the track list came out.
He was like, hey, that's our song. He was like, all right, dope. You know what I'm sure. I didn't give a shit. I don't even think I told him. I think he just seen it when the track list came out. He was like, hey, that's our song.
He was like, all right, dope.
You know what I'm saying?
And then newcomer Ryan Nelson.
I don't think you've ever talked publicly about Ryan Nelson yet.
Have you?
No, he's like with the Viking Barbie and Kata thing.
He's another artist that will work.
So right now it's Ryan Nelson, Viking Barbie, Kata, and Change Music, which is David Manning
and Humble Me.
Pastor Manning. Pastor Me. Pastor Manning.
Pastor David.
Pastor Manning always told us
that we were going to be something.
Yeah, yeah.
Remember, ever since the beginning.
Yeah, from day one.
He's like, you guys are a force.
I talked to him today, too.
He, excuse me, I ate right before I walked up here,
and it's like I'm tasting everything.
As long as you're not shitting your pants and farting,
it's fine.
No, I hadn't let one out.
If I do, I'll be sure to move the mic and make sure the world catches it.
You won't have to move the mic.
Well, Simmons and Jess are made for her fart farting.
He farts like foghorn leghorn.
They're great, too.
They're so relieving.
No, they're not.
You should try it every morning.
We had sex this morning, and literally, he's laying there naked right after, and it's just
like, merr.
No filter.
He knocked the fart out of me.
You know what I'm saying?
What can I say?
I'm like, this is marriage marriage i couldn't help it i fucking hiked
my leg up like that motherfucker some better out than in don't act like i didn't catch you
rip one that one time when you thought i wasn't there when you could tell you've been holding it
forever no one time no you farted one time in the truck and I smelt it. I didn't hear it. But another time.
Whoever smelt it, dealt it.
Another time you thought I'd left the room or something.
And it was like a movie.
Never.
You were like, oh, he's gone.
And you fucking, you let one clap, dude.
It was, listen.
Listen, this is his way of, my husband deflects.
This is the truth.
He's a deflector.
Listen, no, this is real. You farted so,s. This is the truth. He's a deflector.
No, this is real.
You farted so, it's like, you know how you see the commercials or the movies where the girl's like, oh, I can finally let one rip.
And it's like, they've been holding it for a year.
I mean, dude, that thing was like three of mine combined. Listen, I don't get.
It was thunderous.
I don't get fluffs out much, but i do it's like the lowest bass line that
you could ever fucking listen to another time he was in the bathroom he's such a liar now he's
lying no no you remember this meeting was there you was in the bathroom y'all were doing your hair
and i walked out of the bathroom right so you said i'll let you sweat it
down said is he gone he said yeah you said good knock his shit and i turned and poked my head back
in you remember this y'all were all in the bathroom she said well now you know how we talk
let's talk about how you shit on the side of the road all the time i talked about that the last podcast oh no you just did it you just did it again i shit on the side of the road monthly it happens all the time and he'll
i'm like baby what do you wipe with and he's like anything i can grab and he's like i just leave it
on the side of the road what are you gonna do ball it up throw it in your car i don't know
i have no idea all right all right so back to ryan
nelson you hear you hear let's talk about you
all right let's get back to ryan nelson so ryan nelson is a new artist that you're bringing in
yes i always say we because it's ours so that we're bringing in um and he's amazing he's a
country singer yeah he's a country singer i'm crying laughing i'm literally in tears um he's amazing. He's a country singer. Yeah, he's a country singer. I'm crying laughing.
I'm literally in tears.
He's a country singer.
He's from Jacksonville, Florida.
He's been in Nashville doing the singer-songwriter thing for a while.
Matt Wallace found him.
Matt Wallace has got a long history of picking acts that work.
Yeah.
Like from Luke Combs to Riley Green to Muscadine Bloodline.
He gets in early and knows who's actually going to do something big.
Absolutely.
So when Matt finally came to me like, I got a country guy we should work with.
I was like, I feel like every time you've ever said that, it worked out really well.
Yeah.
Even Jordan Fletcher, you know.
Yeah.
Tyler Ray Holbrook. Mm-hmm.
You know, i can just keep
naming them and he was like his name's ryan nelson i met ryan and what attracted me to ryan
is what makes me hate him right he is just like you he's just like me he is a loose fucking
cannon yeah he's a live wire he shows up to video shoots unprepared, hungover, and fucking drunk still.
You know what I'm saying?
He fucking, he is just, he's the guy that you see at the bar and you look at him early in the night and go, that dude's going to either get kicked out of here or leave with
the prettiest girl in the bar.
I don't know which one yet.
Or both.
Or both.
But it's going to happen.
Right.
This is who this guy is.
You know, and because i just love him for that
yeah and his music's real authentic to he has that like that voice is like a thumbprint yeah
he's got a real good voice yeah it's like it's not that it's a great voice it's like mine it's
not that he's a great singer it's just it's just got his own sound it's signature it's that yeah
that voice you hear it a few times and you can pull it. You can recognize him out of a group of people. Yeah, absolutely. Oh, that's fucking Ryan Nelson.
Yeah.
He is just all go.
Yeah.
You know, he reminds me of our brother Alexander King.
Yes.
It's like he's a million miles an hour in no particular direction.
Right, just a hot air balloon.
He's a pinball.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
So every now and then you just got to grab him.
It reminds me of like, you know, I'm a big Men in Black movie fan.
Yeah.
You ever see Men in Black, Mimi?
Do you ever see it?
Do you remember the part where Will Smith and them or whatever,
he hit the one thing that he let out and it pinged around and cut the lights off
and the dude finally caught him?
He was like, don't fucking touch me.
You know, it's going to be like, that's like me with Ryan Nelson and Alexander King.
I'm like chasing around like, oh, they're coming this way.
I might catch them.
I'm going to sit them down and record a goddamn song.
Yeah.
But yeah, no, he's great man yeah so talented getting him on too far was so
cool it was just dope he's fucking awesome last but not least you got fucking manager matt on a
song i got mad on overdose matt is manager matt is aka still matthews and it's two different people
we treat it that way yes yeah he's like Beyonce
when Sasha Fierce and Beyonce
when Beyonce becomes Sasha Fierce that's
that's fucking Matt with still Matthews
he's a manager and he's a business guy
and he's a CPA and he's all
business but he's got this creative
spirit yeah it's kind of what got me into
Matt was not just him rapping or writing songs
was just like I was tired
of managers that exploited
art yeah that didn't know anything about art right and not just managers for me like managers in
general are typically just business dudes who don't give a fuck about art and exploit art I
like Mimi she does hair to me that's art yeah I've watched her do make Bailey's hair look like
six nine six nines you feel me yeah it's like that's crazy that that's a skill set that's like
artistic no it's like managers like picasso yeah managers are normally just dudes who are there to
explore money they're just like how can i sell your art right you know they have no appreciation
for it or the hustle you know the the yeah any of it right and it's like it's really cool that
you know matt can play the guitar.
Matt can play the fucking saxophone.
Matt can play the bass.
Yeah.
Matt can program beats.
Matt can write a song by himself.
You know what I mean?
Like the dude is, the dude's talented.
Yeah.
And more than a, he can play a little piano.
I mean, it just kind of, you know, he's, so he's got an artist mindset.
Yeah.
As far as, you know, but mixed with the fact he is a cpa
yeah so he understands business and money so it's just cool you know so whenever in other words we
love our little fire crotch yeah so when i have a weird idea that's like yo man i want to do this
and you know whatever and it's like it's not gonna make money he can appreciate the art side of it
yeah because i don't really give a fuck about money yeah i know you know money comes and
fucking goes it's like catching on fire or whatever.
It's not going to be here anyway.
You've always had a horse show up your ass, though.
Somehow money has just always followed you because you have that whole thing where you're like, I don't want it.
And it's like, oh, no, no, no.
It wants you.
Yeah, I just don't care.
I just don't chase money.
Yeah.
I just want to be comfortable, and I am.
So it's like, it's cool.
As long as I'm comfortable, I can create.
I think the album's fucking great.
I love it.
Thank you.
When are you dropping a new one?
When do we start working on a new one?
What's next?
Start Thursday.
For our old jelly roll.
Talked to D-Ray last night for about an hour.
So Thursday.
Yeah.
We're getting back in the studio.
Yep.
Yee-hoo.
Taking it slow.
Maybe not.
I mean, I got the Jack Project teed up anyways.
Like, I just got to, like, do it.
Yeah.
I got to do vocals pretty much.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We're going to start really heavily writing here in the next couple weeks.
I'm excited.
The cool thing is I'm not in a rush.
I'm going to take my time with this one, even visually.
Can Mama get on a track?
If you're ready.
I've been ready.
I hear you say that all the time.
Whatever.
She don't actually show up.
I mean, I hate the studio.
It's a big part
of getting on a track.
You know what I'm saying?
But I don't want to just
come and hang out
in your session,
you know?
No,
you gotta come
and soak up the vibe.
All right,
well,
we'll figure that out.
I love you so much.
Thank you for coming
on my podcast
for the 546th time.
I'll be here
the 547th time.
I'm ready and excited.
I love you.
I love you, baby.
Everybody,
you know where to find Joliet.
Yes. Do you want to shout out where they can find you in case they don't yeah just just look me up well don't don't look him up on only
