All right, babes, we are back.
We are horned up, and we are going deep.
Deep!
Into the season finale of season one, heated rivalry.
We just wrapped up our live stream watch party.
And I, listen, I love you, babe, so I have to be honest, look at my pitties.
Look at that.
We literally just finished the live stream.
Look at that.
Pitstain.
Like, that is so intense.
Guys, like, I, the emotions that.
I'll keep them clenched for you so you don't have to look at it all episode.
But the emotions that I was going through, all of them just got the body working.
The blood was flowing.
I'm sorry.
I'm not sorry, actually.
And if you didn't see the live, Dan and I both had a canned-to-dye ginger ale.
I drank a full-sugar ginger ale for Halsey.
I haven't done that in 20 years.
I drank a full-sugar ginger ale.
And I had vodka in a Boston.
hockey team glass.
I'm going to finish that.
And then I wore my glasses
just in case Rosie asked.
I thought maybe, if Rosie
at any point said in that episode put your glasses on,
I wanted to be ready. So I have it on and you're going to
keep them. You also crashed the live stream.
I also broke
the internet in Maine.
Unbelievable.
Oh, what a run, dude. I'm actually
tweaking right now, dude. There was a couple moments
where I was like legitimately, I went to get a
sip or something and my hand was like reaching for the glass
shaking. I was insane. I was not well. I was genuinely
not well that whole time. It makes it worse
knowing that there was
lots of people watching you
on the stream as well. So while
you're trying to take this in, you're also going to
control yourself emotionally because you know you're
being watched while you're watching it.
Truly, Sean, and the
sorry Chris, the amount of times I found myself
fucking open mouth watching like an idiot
and I was like, I was just like
clean it up.
And two things then.
The first thing I was going to say, and I hope this is okay to share Sean,
and you can cut it if it isn't.
But everybody, we all have, like, friends and family in the rooms over, you know,
and I'm screaming my head off, and it's Sean's dad's birthday.
And he's got a whole birthday party cooking.
So happy birthday, Mr. Buff Daddy, that's the real Buff Daddy, Dad.
That is, it's true.
Yeah, he's the real Buff Daddy.
Yeah, I'm over here like, spoon sex, his thumb and is in his mouth, nipple kiss.
And Sean's dad's like, what is going on?
Trying to have a wholesome birthday.
down there. And then the second thing, Dan, is I had said to you guys before we started,
I was like, I'm going to talk the whole time. Like, I'm sorry, I'm going to be talking because
that's how I watch TV, which it is. But then there were moments in that where I was literally
dead silent by accident. You know, like in my mind, I was going to be talking the whole time,
but I was literally like, because I just couldn't believe, but I was watching. There's so many
comments that it just alternated between Chris is so locked in and just like,
pay attention. I ride that line. I was noticed.
kissing the shushes. Like Chris getting shushed. I was like, oh, so good.
I think we were all getting, getting shushed. We were. If we didn't give a commentary,
you just be watching three dudes just there and go, yeah, just silent.
Because like, there was electric shit that was happening that I'm like, I'm glad.
I hope you guys caught stuff that I missed. I hope I caught stuff you missed because like, oh my God,
that one, that one is going to be rewatched city because I just, I got to go back. I've got to do it
again. Got to experience it again. That was a riot. Oh, my gosh. The emotions are all
of the place. Like we said, we are ready to rock. So if you boys are ready, let's dive into this
episode. Let's do it, dude. Let's do it. So we open episode six, and we are at the MLH Awards where
Scott Hunter has just been awarded MVP, Cup MVP, and coming out all in the same season. I said it
on the live stream. Ladies and gentlemen, it is the year of the Hunter. Yes, it is. It is. It
It is the year of the Hunter.
Oh, my God.
I'll say, too, though, I said this on the live.
I was pissed.
It was 52 minutes.
That was actually my first reaction.
Yeah.
I was like, no, dude, give me 90.
And then I was immediately, the frown turned upside down into a smile when I saw we were opening with Scott Hunter MVP.
Yeah.
I, I, it's, we haven't gotten past the first scene.
And I'm here to say if episode five was ranked the second best TV episode of all time behind
Ozzy Mandias of Breaking Bad.
This is now the new number two, if not number one.
Like, what more could you have?
wanted from this episode. Unbelievable.
So Scott gives his speech, makes a cheeky comment about something else happening that got
a little more attention when he won.
He was like, I accomplished my lifelong dream of winning a cup, but something else happened.
And he talks about coming out.
And the most important part, he says there's, he's always been a very private guy and he
hasn't shared much about his private life, but now it's time he does.
And in this speech, he talks about how he knows what it's like to not fit in.
he always worried this part was a haymaker this line he said he always worried that he might be that
thing that many hockey players threw around the locker room and on the ice immediately i was like
fucking jacob tyrney like dude that that feeling i can't imagine how real is for so many
athletes i don't care if it's hockey or another sport who are worried to
about coming out, but that inclusion in his
acceptance speech and talking about coming out
was so deep.
I was like, fuck, man. That was brutal.
Yeah, dude, I wish I had
more copious notes like we normally have,
but he used the word lonely.
I forget exactly where, but I thought
that was such a good word choice.
Not implying, I know how you would feel
being a gay man, a closet of gay man
at all. I'm just saying, fuck, that
word hit me, the viewer, the listener
hard, where I was like
that, being lonely is like,
As an extrovert, I would say being lonely is like the saddest thing I can think of
and being lonely for those reasons makes it even harder.
And that was, I thought that was awesome.
Yeah.
And that led perfectly into a next line of the speech where he says,
fear is a powerful thing, but there's something even stronger.
And that's the message, right?
It's like you might be scared, but there is love out there for you.
And that's when he's talking about Kip.
And he says that Kip has made him better in every conceivable way and he loves him.
We see Kip at the bar.
He's at, um...
Yeah.
Why is that?
I liked that he's at the bar.
Fuck, I always, what's the name of the bar?
It's the best bar name.
King Fischer.
King Fischer.
King Fischer.
The King Fischer.
Yes, Sean.
Yes.
He's at the King Fischer.
I believe Elena was there with him.
And I love that because you know why I'm glad.
First of all, we all agree.
I need Kipp at that award ceremony.
I need him there.
But, yeah, go on.
But maybe he's got school.
maybe he's got stuff.
But I like that we saw the friends.
Like, I think it's Jason, right, is his name.
But, like, he was with all his friends.
I really like that.
I really would have loved it if his dad was there.
That would have been nice.
Oh, I would have liked that, too.
That would have been nice.
Because we haven't seen his dad since that episode, since episode three.
And we know that his dad is right or die no matter what.
So it would have been nice to see him.
But we see Kip, that's a beautiful moment.
Like him being able to enjoy that with all his friends.
That was amazing.
And I just have one more thing to add of this Scott Hunter piece.
The way Scott one-handed grabbed that trophy.
Look like he was picking up Kip, Dan.
Look like he was picking up Kip.
Chris.
If he's fucking handling a trophy that easily, imagine the way he could handle us.
Good Lord.
I saw a reel.
Stick his, use his hand and work you like a puppet.
Yeah, correct.
With that forearm strength.
It's unbelievable.
I saw a reel a while ago that was like a girl.
with her boyfriend at the gym
spotting and he's like, you know,
dumbbell benching like 200 pounds.
Yeah, like cuts to her face,
giving you a cheeky grin where it's like realizing
you weigh, way less than this.
Like watching him throw around 200 pounds
and you weigh way less than this.
And yeah, that's all I was thinking about
when he was manhandling the trophy,
how Kip was like, hell yeah.
Fear is a powerful thing.
Fear is a powerful thing,
but the one thing more powerful is
Scott Hunter's biceps.
Correct.
I wish she had said that, Sean.
I wish he had that.
The only more powerful is this motherfucker right here.
He rips his shirt off, Captain America uniform, throws the shield.
I'm losing my fucking mind.
Dan, I have two things about that.
Okay.
One, I'll do the bad first.
One, the Kip thing is unacceptable.
I literally will not stand for this.
Like, oh, yeah, it was nice.
He was at the bar.
No.
Like, he was at school, no.
Like, I need him there.
And he says,
the exact thing. He just points to the seats. He's like,
oh, you're right here. You know what made me laugh?
I don't want to interrupt you. I'm sorry.
What made me laugh was all
the babes in the comment section were like,
the show doesn't have the budget to show an audience.
Yeah, and I was like, oh, fuck,
that might be true. Season two will.
Season two will have the budget.
Oh my gosh, the success of this. We'll be at the
fucking awards, dude. Yeah.
That's actually true, though, because every time we show an award show,
it's always like Shane and Elya fucking
in the bathroom and not, like,
ever the, I think, like, the first award
show we got from this show was in the banquet hall of a cheesecake factory.
Yeah.
It was.
Yeah.
I mean, surely you could afford some like mannequins or something.
Yeah.
Come on, dude.
Yeah.
I'll buy it.
I'll accept.
Dude,
call me.
I'll do it.
I'll do it.
I'll,
I could have got you 100 people in five seconds.
I sick would have been if it was the HR fans in the crowd from the book.
Yeah.
Oh, that would be great.
Incredible.
Yeah.
So I'll,
I'll accept it for budget reasons, but that is insane.
And Dan,
you just sparked this, which would be so sick.
I wish, because I was going to say, it would have been slightly awkward for Kip to
be sitting there alone though.
Obviously Scott's sitting with him most of the night, but I was like, that's kind of tough.
But it would have been sick if he went like this.
And you, Kip.
This goes to my coaches, my teammates, but also to you.
And it panned down and Kip was in the crowd with his dad.
Like, I wish he had brought the two of them.
That would have been fucking awesome.
The other thing I wanted to say, and I kind of hit this in real time, but I couldn't
formulate it until we got to sit with it is Scott saying in that speech, I've always been
a very private person, but I'm realizing it's important.
that I share my private life
because of what it has done,
especially to the young fans.
I've got messages, blah, blah, blah.
Yeah, that was nice.
I was like, that is exactly
the thesis of this show.
Yes.
In a nutshell.
You know what I mean?
Like, oh, I've been keeping this private,
but I'm realizing now I should share it
because look what's happened.
And I was like, oh, that's what this show did.
Like, we never show this stuff.
And now we're all realizing how important it is
that you do because look what's happened.
And I was like, man, I don't know if they, they probably wrote that line before they even knew the cultural reaction.
But I was like, that was sick.
That was like the entire experience in a nutshell.
I love it.
Yeah.
It's amazing.
So we finish up the year of the hunter.
And now we get the boys.
We cut to Shane at the airport.
He's picking up Elia.
And Shane's nervous.
It's like, it's, you know, he's nervous how this is going to go.
It's excited, nervous.
But he's tapping his thumb on the wheel.
And Elia walks up looking like a fucking model.
He's got the cutoff shirt.
He's got the Raybands on to match Shane's Raybans, by the way.
Tostes his stuff in the car, hops in, and it's immediately just amazing.
It's like typical Halsey just checking in, asking if he's good, if he needs any food,
and typical shithnery from Elia.
He comments on the car, he's like, is this a Jeep?
And I love how Shane's like, it's practical.
It's British.
It's just all their personalities are just so great in that moment.
What's with the Jeep hate this episode?
Yeah.
I don't know.
But like, tell you who this episode wasn't sponsored by.
Yeah.
Fucking Christ.
Sean, or Rangerover.
Like, G.
Drager and Ranger Rover catching strays here.
Yeah, exactly.
It's so funny.
But then.
Sean, how about that fucking entrance, bro?
How about that entrance by Rosie?
Dude, it's like, I don't know.
It's, he looks like a Matrix villain.
He shows up dressed totally in black sleeves cut off so you could see the muscles.
And, uh, and yeah, it's like, you know, he's supposed to be kind of, like, you know, he's supposed to be kind
like stealthily meeting up with Shane here,
but he's not why everyone at that airport
is going to be looking at him as he walks through,
even if he wasn't an MLH player.
Sean,
or MHL or whatever.
Correct.
Like, Shane,
uh,
Shane even asked,
he's like,
did anyone see you or notice you?
And he's like,
no,
I don't think so.
And I'm like,
first of all,
you're in a Canadian city
and you're one of the two best players in the national.
And then also you're the hottest fucking dude I've ever seen in my life right now.
I assure you everyone noticed you in that airport.
Dude,
I said the same thing did.
You were in Ottawa,
And then on top of that, you come in all fucking blacked-out cutoffs, pipes, glasses,
looking like the Terminator, looking like the Sperminator, dude.
I could not fucking believe.
I could not believe he went full Sperminator.
And then waltzed through the airport.
People were probably fucking getting off the whole way.
The whole way through baggage claim, dude.
And then he walks into the Jeep.
I was like, you've got to be kidding me.
No one recognized you.
There's no one left alive back there.
That was insane.
The hell is wrong with you.
I'll be back, dude.
I'll be back.
I'll be back.
You're right, though.
You're right.
I just lost my mind.
We get the beautiful car ride.
Like we said, there's some great teasing.
Shane says he was going to do a silent retreat to his mom.
I lia laughs at him.
So immediately we get, what I like about the teasing and the nervous energy is while there is nervous energy,
it's clear that these two are very happy that they're doing this.
And I like that we got that out of the way of like neither of them are.
regretting this so they get to the house
Shane's a great host he's carrying his bags for him he gets
inside he's telling him what's what he has the house
everything that's there and you know they have a little bit of banter
and a little bit of back and forth and I love so much
what's so accurate about this is after the like he's talking about the well
that he has the waters there's great he stuck the house with
with coke if he needs any food there's plenty of food
and then immediately Elyar comes up and they start kissing
and they start hooking up on the couch that is as accurate
as it gets. When you're in a long-distance relationship, which these two are, it's always the
living room hookup. The second you see each other, it's like, now that we are in a place where we
can begin to hook up, we will begin hooking up. And it was just, it was perfect. Did you notice
it was all in one shot? It was just one crazy one. Dude, you noticed that. You noticed that.
It was, it's some, some nice, some nice camera work there. And it made us feel the tension, right? Like,
it made us feel how palpable the like, all right, one are you going to, you going to,
going to jump each other's bones is.
Well, to your point, like, it sticks, the audience is stuck with the characters.
And so the time that passes for the characters, same the time passes for you, it doesn't
feel like there's any temporal trickery.
Exactly.
You feel how immediate it is when they fall to the couch together, you know?
Yeah.
No, it's amazing.
A couple things there for me.
I thought Shane carrying in Rosie's luggage was such top behavior.
I was like, oh, my God, Shane.
Like, you as a man who prefers to be the whole quote-unquote.
I was like when he was like, I got the bags, dude.
I was like, holy shit, dude, I like this side of shame.
But I think he came back around to the peg because of the genuine,
heartfelt nature of it when he said, when he mentioned his ribs.
He's like, oh, yeah, yeah.
He's like, I'm carrying these for you because you're,
you just played through a rib injury.
Like, he's not trying to be like this macho man.
He's being, he's being caring.
He's being typical shame.
Yeah, I like that, Dan.
And then there was one other line that I wanted to.
chirp but then I've I've I've rewritten it in my mind not rewritten it I've reassessed it in my mind
yeah of uh it's just Shane being Shane so in the car when they were really were having some awesome
banter like some awkward but also cheeky like you know poking fun of each other banter
Shane goes do you want some food and Rosie's like I'm good and then Shane goes what about groceries
we should get food so we don't have to leave you know because he's like I just want to stock up
so don't have to leave the cottage and then as soon as they walk in the
cottage. He goes, you want anything? We have plenty of food. And I was like, what a ridiculous
line after having just said we need to go grocery shopping. Well, it was a two-hour drive,
so maybe he reminded him because it was, he said at the start of the drive, and, you know,
there was so much tension in the car. But then I was like, you know what? Shane would stock the
house already, because he's a great host, but then he would also offer to go grocery shopping
on the way home just in case there was something Rosie specifically wanted that he didn't
already have.
Correct.
And also consider the idea or the thought that Shane maybe said that, making it up,
just as a way to reassure Elia that nothing will go wrong.
In case, Elia was like, do we need food?
How are we going to happen?
Like, Shane's just covering all the bases.
Yeah.
It's brilliant.
Well, Shane is such a planner as well.
I do feel that he did pack up the house.
I mean, it's mentioned in this episode how much of a planner that he is.
Sean, do you have any idea how much tuna is in that house?
And Coke and gingerill.
And Coke and Gingerill.
He's got a cabinet full of canned tuna and slices of Swiss cheese.
He can survive a nuclear winter in that house.
Oh, my God.
Those two loving real Coke and real gingerol might be the most unrealistic pig in the show.
Everything else I will buy.
You're so wrong, dude.
The young guys in the league still sucked on sugar sodas.
You're so wrong.
Scott Hunter's not drinking sugar soda.
Yeah.
But they're not young guys, Dan.
You forget.
We went backwards.
They're like, Prosby.
They're like 20.
They're like 27.
Banana and blueberry smoothies
alongside the ginger alees.
I forgot that.
I really watered down,
but banana blueberry.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay, so we're on the couch
and we're beginning to hook up
and this moments are immediately beautiful.
And I have a few things to say about this.
So they're on the couch.
They start hooking up and Shane immediately is like,
I'm probably not going to last very long.
It's been a while.
And Elia is quick to go.
So, yeah, me too.
It's all good.
There's also a nice hand on the face while they're kissing there.
But in this moment, Shane pausing is like, wait, you too?
And then he's like, yeah, it's not a big deal.
I'm like, he's being casual.
But I started saying immediately as we were watching, I was like, I was like, guys, Rosie's breaking.
Like he is like, you knew it, dude.
I was like, he is more in touch with his feelings and he's more open here than he's ever been.
And Shane makes a big deal of it.
He's like, you haven't hooked up with anyone.
And he's like, yeah, no, I haven't.
So I wanted to pause and say this.
The way that this show has done such a brilliant job of showing the progression in their relationship,
where feelings are now there in their actions, and the actions are following these feelings.
So the silent no-one-else agreement means a lot.
And I don't mean literally what was said.
I mean, those two hooked up.
And then in the time between, they didn't talk about not hooking up with each other.
They wouldn't even bring that up.
but neither of them did.
Those are those silent agreements when you know that you're in it with someone.
And this scene shows exactly that, that both of them are just like,
oh, no, this is the only person I care about.
So, of course, they wouldn't hook up with anyone else.
Yeah.
I thought that was fucking incredible.
It's like, it's that exclusive talk.
We always joke about Dan.
Yeah, I was like, oh, they're having the, they're having to be like, are we exclusive things?
And I thought that it was lovely how that happens.
And then Shane was like, all right, I have an idea.
And over these next two weeks, let's be honest with each other.
Let's tell each other how we feel and what's going on.
And Elia gives him a cheeky smile and he's like, I'll try.
And just like, we're off to the races now here in the cottage.
Did you like when he said, he's like, I'll be quick?
Like I was joking with you guys in the live where it's funny with its two dudes who can both be like, yeah, me too.
Where normally, not that it happens to me often, not that it happens to me often,
But when it does, you just sit there feeling like a fucking asshole because you're like, did you?
Sorry.
Was that good for you?
And you know it wasn't.
But I love the idea of two dudes just like, pew, pew, pew.
And I'm like, hell yeah, dude.
It's a standoff.
It's a standoff.
Draw, boom.
Been a while, been a while for you, been a while for me.
Ready?
Boom.
Bang.
I'm like, yes.
God, we both win.
That was fucking awesome.
So Shane then gives him the tour.
And Sean, you called this out.
well how Shane was being he was doing some teasing here we don't get a lot of Shane
teasing but he's given the tour he's talking about the rooms that are available and
Ely's going along with it but then we get we get the Bellboy joke from Shane he's like
the Bellboy joke was unbelievable that hit that hit hard that was good um I need that
dude I need that like what was the line again you can't you can't do this to the staff or
something yeah he was like you can't treat the staff this way he was doing he was doing
the guest room thing, which you guys, you guys,
it ended up being amazing, and you guys were on it early. At first,
I was like, what are we talking about here, dude?
Like, guest room? Obviously, he's fucking
staying with you. Like, this is so stupid.
But then it ended up being really funny.
Because he was like, yeah, I need
a king-sized bed. He says, oh, well, they all have
king-sized beds. Well, I'll need, you know, this.
Dude, he goes, I'll need one
with a view of, and he starts pausing. And I wanted to go, of,
I thought he was going to say, of you. And I was like, yes.
But then, but then they get there. And then, Shane's
doing the fucking, you can't treat the staff like this.
And I was like, feed me this roleplay, dude.
That was awesome.
It was so great.
We get a nice blow job against the glass.
Jane with windows up.
Shane puts the shade down.
Elias like, no, no, no, puts him back up.
And then boom.
That was awesome.
Like that was a great.
Elya was like showing Shane.
He's like, no, dude, like, let's do this.
Yep.
And Shane took that and took the ball and fucking ran with it.
I might as well say took both the balls in his hand as he cupped them.
cupped it, dude.
Well, he took him down.
Beautiful, hot little against the glass blow job there.
That was fantastic.
So then we cut boys to a little barbecue.
Delos outside.
Shane's barbecue and we get the little joke.
He's like, why are you making eight burgers?
And he's like, so many, he's like the recipes were eight.
And Elyot teases him about cutting it at half.
It's hilarious.
One thing I want to say here, it's summertime, off season for the boys.
They're hanging at this beautiful cottage, cooking up burgers.
sitting by the lake, I couldn't help but think how fucking tight is it to be a gay couple
and go on a boy's trip and then also be able to have romantic sex together?
So true, dude.
It's like you're on a trip with your best friend.
You're probably working out, staying in shape, training, cooking up burgers, hanging by the fire,
and then also having deep romantic sex.
Like, that's fucking awesome.
I can be in both NHL players too, so it's not just like, oh, I want to hit the gym.
you're like training to the same goal.
Obviously, this was a relaxed trip, but, you know, you could extrapolate to other trips.
We were like, dude, should we go do Plymetric?
Should we go do on-ice?
Whatever they're doing.
Making each other better.
Fuck, that would be awesome.
Unbelievable.
God damn.
I've got to say, though, the burger thing was nuts because he's grilling.
And, Sean, you actually were like, they would take those down, which I'm with you on that.
I would take those down.
Oh, dude.
Sean, we always make the joke.
It's so funny.
If you go to it, like if the three of us were to go to a restaurant and the waiter comes by and I would go like this, four burgers, please.
You'd be like, what the fuck is wrong with you?
But if we were at a cookout and I was, and I only ate one burger, you'd come over and be like, what's wrong with you?
You don't want a three more?
I never thought about it.
That's so true.
It's so true.
When he goes, Shane goes, the recipe called for eight.
And I'llie is like, cut it in half.
You can do math.
Ha, ha, ha.
You know, the next scene when they're just eating, there's just cheeseburgers on a tray.
I was like, what recipe are you talking about, dude?
You literally just put, well, no.
Sorry, sorry, sorry, breaking news here.
Hudson just took a picture of us and posted on his story.
Oh, that's awesome.
That's awesome, dude.
Oh, my God.
That's awesome.
I love that.
Chris, I think, you know he made that.
He made the burger meat from scratch.
Like, it was probably a recipe that was like, you know, two pounds or one pound of beef.
Yeah, yeah.
Garlet powder, salt, peat.
Pepper. Yeah. Okay. I'll buy that. To me, like it was crazy, but it was good crazy because I think these things feed into Shane's patterns, like his neurodivergent patterns. And I even like to say, or when he says after, he's like, I probably would have given the rest of my parents, but that would mess up the whole silent retreat lie. Like to me, it's in the summer. He probably makes burgers. And then he's like, yeah, I'll just put the rest in the fridge and dad will eat them. Like, I like that he has his ways. And it was a good way into that scene, you know, like as people that work in this industry trying to,
transition without a ton of exposition into like how do I get from this thing to now we need to
talk about your parents yeah that was actually really nice like I usually give it to my parents but
and then I'm like oh yeah that sounded completely natural now let's talk about that that was totally
so speaking of the parents they're eating the burgers and elia asks about the parents um
you know and david right it's david i think is the dad uh Sean can you look that up for me in the
crows i think it's david but he mentions the parents names which were so beautiful shows that
Elia is like, you know, taking stock and looking into Shane's family in his life.
And in this, he's, you know, they're just chatting about the situation.
And Elia asks if his parents know.
And Shane's like, no, they don't know about you.
And he's like, no, do they know about you?
Shane says no.
And he is, Chris, you called this out.
He's, he's a little nervous.
I was worried about that in real time.
It is, David.
It is David, yeah.
Because he had just asked Rosie to be like, hey, dude, my one request for this trip is that we just completely,
we say everything we're feeling.
And he just felt a little reserved in that scene where I was like,
damn, dude.
And if he hadn't asked that of Rosie, I wouldn't have been mad at him.
Because I'm like, of course, ease into it.
But since he said that, I was like, bro, give me something.
No doubt.
I think, though, like that the parents thing is such a,
I don't want to say trigger for Shane, but it's just so important to Shane.
So to immediately be talking about them and if they know,
I think it got him thinking, got him a little nervous.
But we learned that David played at McGill here.
and we also
gold.
Yep.
The fuck is McGill.
Yeah.
It's fair that a Russian player
I know it was perfect.
It was perfect.
She's like he played at McGill.
He goes, oh,
McGill.
Yeah.
What the fuck is McGill?
That was awesome.
So we also see the love
that Shane has for his parents here.
I don't want to say he defends him
because Ely's not attacking them
but in his questioning,
Shane's like my parents are awesome.
Like, it's great.
So that's great little setup there.
Then they're sitting by the five.
Boys are sitting by the fire.
They're chatting.
We get the funny loon moment.
We hear a loon call.
Elia freaks the fuck out.
He's like, sounds like a wolf.
Which, Chris, you pointed out.
Yeah.
Rush and Elya, dude.
You've been wrestling bears and wolves your whole life, babe.
You ain't got nothing to worry about.
That's actually the most.
Fuck the Coke and ginger ale, dude.
Rosie being afraid of a wolf fucking in your bra.
Dude, no way.
I don't buy that for a second.
That was awesome.
And here we get the first scene of this episode that absolutely floored me.
Elia has his head laying in Shane's lap
and they're chatting
and Shane starts asking him about his family
he asks if he's heard from his brother, his dad
and he's like, I know your family sucks
but it must be tough not talking to them
and Eli's like my mom didn't suck.
He talks about his mother
and then we find out that
she overdosed on pills
when Elia was 12
and Elia found her.
And again, like I said,
we saw Rosie breaking in this episode,
the walls breaking down, being more emotional,
showing his true self.
The true self that Svetlana references all the time.
She's like, I know the incredible person that you are.
We're seeing it here.
And the line that fucking floored me was when he said,
I don't want you to think she was weak.
Oh, dude, that was so good.
That was so intense.
in we've seen the love that Elia has for Svetlana,
which is a very specific and incredible type of love,
and now we're seeing the blossoming love with him and shame.
But to hear him talk about a member of his family,
the only member of his family that he holds true, real love for was intense.
And I think they did a great job of showing it in both of them.
And now we've had two back-to-back moments of the two of them asking about each other,
family and
fuck I just thought
that was so good and I will
add Rosie did what was asked of him there
I felt like where that you know
he was like okay you want to know how I'm feeling like
this is how I'm feeling about my mom
and this is what happened you know I don't know he doesn't tell
anyone that so I thought
that was I thought that was really cool and incredibly
lovely scene I was laughing though
when he at the beginning of it when he's like when
Rose texts and you know Rosie's
like okay Rose yeah and he's
like uh and Shane's like yeah whatever
and he's like, well, you can bang Rose Landry.
It can bang J-Law.
And Shane goes, it was a disaster.
I did it twice, and it was a disaster.
And he goes, I won't go into details.
And I was like, not only for me, but also for Rosie, I was like, tell me the fucking
details right now.
Like, I need to hear about the two J-Law bangs.
Because one of them, while he was looking directly into your soul, Sean, he was
looking directly into your soul while doing it, didn't look like it was that much of a disaster.
It seemed, it was like a, pretty successful to me.
Stairway, blowy into like doggy.
Sean, I finished.
I don't know about him, but I finished.
And if that was a disaster, then I have only had disastrous sex my whole life.
So I would like a few details if you don't mind of the two J-Law encounters.
Thank you very much, Shane.
Oh, God, it's so good.
But like I said, two really awesome emotional moments here.
And what I wanted to point out, I love these two back.
to back scenes so much because
I feel like we get
in scenes like this
in movies and TV shows where we get
two of our romantic interests together
we get in the beginning of the
episodes or the beginning of the movie so much
sex and playfulness
and romance and montages and romp around
and that it leads to these emotional
moments I loved
that they went into this right away
because
the talks yeah because
they've never had the chance
I thought that was so brilliant of Jacob to make these two immediately get into this stuff
because for years now, every time they can't have these talks via text.
We got that one beautiful phone call where Elia speaks in Russian,
but they have never been alone together with nothing else, with no timeline,
with no ticking clock.
So what's the one thing they haven't done is be able to have these types of talks?
So I love that we got it right off the bat because I think that's exactly where you're
what they would do.
And it was just great.
I thought it was really good.
So with you, dude.
So with you on that.
Yeah.
Incredible scene.
Incredible.
Like Shane, you always, or Shane, I just called Sean, Shane.
Sean, you have almost done that so many times.
The cool shots.
And I loved that, like, kind of ending all that on the fire, like dancing on his face.
Because remember before?
He was like, so what?
You look at fire.
Canada.
Boring.
And I was like, no, look at fire six, dude.
Yeah.
Yeah.
to the fire, ending that scene with that very tight close-up on that.
Dude, and do you remember what he says?
Right before it.
Yeah, he goes, do you want to go inside?
And he's like, no.
No.
And it just like pushes him on his face, and he's comfortable there, and its fires
looks beautiful.
And I was like, boom, dude.
And then it cuts to another close-up of Elia when he's asleep.
Oh, yeah.
Dude, I thought of that.
Yeah, I thought of that.
Straight from that close up to the close-up of them waking up in bed.
Yeah.
That's fucking awesome.
So they wake up in bed.
They say that they like each other.
Amazing.
And that was our, like, we pointed out during the line.
their first wake up together, which was, you know, love the fact that they wake up together.
We always talk about that too, right?
When you're, when you've just met someone, you guys are hooking up and you have your first sleepover.
There's always that fear of when you wake up.
You're like, is this going to be awkward?
And they gave us that technically their first wake up together and they both say, I like you.
Amazing.
But then the boys are playing chel.
Chell, dude.
We get the boys playing NHL together.
They're playing with each other's teams, which was amazing.
Like, you know, and we also get a little bit of realism.
Yeah, we get a little bit of realism there
being like the most successful franchise ever,
better than the Yankees.
That was kind of cool.
But then we find out that Ely was on the cover.
Rosie on the cover.
Oh, dude, that was sick.
What a flex.
What a flex, dude.
This then gets into our horniest part of the episode.
I think at least.
We get a call from Hayden.
Shane's got to take it.
He's like, he just got, had another baby.
What is this fucking kid number 10 for Hayden, by the way?
I mean, good guy.
This guy's fucking pumping him out like rabbit.
So he picks up the phone call and we get instant playful Rosie.
Like he starts doing the finger walk up the leg.
Let's rock today.
Let's rock today.
Let's rock today.
Is that school of rock rest?
Chris, more like let's cock today.
Because he's walking to that cock.
And he starts getting worked up.
Shane's like, what the hell are you doing?
They make a deal.
He's like, I won't touch you.
But if you get hard, I'm going to town on that prized hog.
And Shane's like, I won't get hard.
Yeah, right, pal.
Yeah, right.
But Rosie did cheat because he's touching.
He's kissing up the thigh.
I think he meant I couldn't touch the hog.
Yeah, I'll touch everything else, but I can't touch the hog.
And then he immediately gets hard.
And I will say, dude, well, actually, the comments always have the coolest.
They catch things that are like compare and contrast across scenes.
And I'm like, oh, that was amazing.
And Easter eggs, which you guys are so good at, so keep saying them.
One, I thought that I actually flagged in this one, was Shane not knowing Hayden's, like,
kids' name and brothers, you know, he was like, oh, yeah, that's the brother.
Whereas, like, with him and Ilya, they know everyone's name.
And I was like, oh, that was sick, because that's someone you love where I care more.
I at least that's what my read was.
What were you going to say, Sean?
What I thought was really cool about the scene was the Shane and Ilya know each other
so well now that, like, before when they were hooking up, and you said before
Rosie's the consent king,
Rosie would have to keep on checking in.
But now they're at a point of the relationship where Shane can kind of be like playfully
reluctant and they're so familiar with each other that Rosie can still kind of like,
yeah, they know each other so well that he can still be like no, not that he's pushing it,
but know what actually the dynamic is between them.
It's like Shane isn't saying no.
Absolutely.
That no, that no meant yes.
Yeah.
It's such a like a thing that like takes up.
long time to to get to I'm sure between yes John great call I think this episode did a great job of
highlighting their intimacy cues they both have them and now they know how to work them so well so
those are the versions of the check-ins in this episode because they know how to get each other going
they know what's in-bounds and not offside and that's so great yeah these are the you said perfectly
these are the versions of the check-ins that they have you said perfectly yeah I thought I misread
this live and it would you know you're about to get to it
because it was an electric scene, but I thought, Rosie goes like this.
And I think he's going, now, I think he's going, you're hard.
Or maybe I'm going to go down on you, but I thought he was going like, you are now hard because I'm pointing at this.
I think he was pointing at, I think he was pointing at him being hard and he was like,
I thought he was going, ready for lift off.
Yeah, yeah.
But I thought that this part is kind of off camera.
Like it's pretty quick.
Uh-huh.
And then you get a lot of this.
I thought he was, I thought this was a butt thing.
So I thought he was going, dude.
You're so horny, dude.
Here he comes.
Here he comes, dude.
Don't worry.
Don't clench.
And I was like, this is going to be fucking so awesome.
And then I was bummed when we didn't get it.
And then we got something amazing anyway.
But I thought he was going, he was going plumbing, dude.
And I was like, it's going to be amazing.
So that's just, that's again, that's just like the softer version of the check-in where it's like non-verbal, you know?
Boom.
Yeah.
So good.
So we get the.
We get the sloppy, sloppy toppy.
And that was loud.
We were talking about where we were watching.
I can't believe Hayden didn't say anything.
He did.
He heard.
He heard.
He heard.
He heard.
He heard.
He heard.
He heard.
He heard.
He heard.
So good.
So hot.
And I loved the Amazon.
Like Shane's muting him.
Then he's like, sorry, there was an Amazon package.
All that stuff was so funny.
But they get off the phone.
Shane, like, finishes.
He mounts Elia.
Like, love that that's playful.
Like, that's like him being like, that was awesome.
That was like, that was, like, that was.
And then he says, he was like, why was that so hot.
Like he was like, that was, that was a little naughty, and I liked it.
And Elya then says, he's like, because you like being bad.
Yeah.
And I love how again, and Chris, you were like, can Shane just have fun for a second?
But I was like, no, it's not what the cottage is about, man.
And in that line, you like being bad.
Shane was like, no, that's not what this is.
It was at first.
But like, this is good now.
And there's just another one where I was like, fucking, yeah, man.
Like, we're falling in love in the cottage here.
This is fucking real.
Yeah.
I don't think he waited.
I'm glad Hayden didn't hear.
I'm glad that wasn't like a plot point.
You know, where you're like, oh, Hayden hurt.
But I was dying where I did not think Shane waited long enough to catch his breath after.
He was going back on those phone calls like, hey, what's up, dude?
I'm sorry.
I was like, you can't fucking get your shit together, Shane.
In another version of this episode, I think the scene cuts to Hayden in his house hanging up the phone.
He looks at his wife and he goes, I think Shane was just getting a blowjow.
Yeah, I thought it was like it was a good.
girl. And Dan, I know I'm going to get y'all that for being too horny again. But is it fucked up that I wanted to, and we've established in, I think, F1, that Rosie is swallowing that load every time. Remember, like, right away in F1, I think that is? Is it fucked up that I wanted to see the, well, I wanted it to be something more. Like, Rosie finishes and it's just kind of like, ha. And I wanted like a deep swallow or a mouth wipe or something. Yeah, you're being too horny. Yeah, like.
Like I really wanted to come in a way that I wasn't going to get.
That was HBO.
It was HBO.
You were fucking out of control.
Saying I really wanted to come is just like, you're going to get clipped to high heaven.
Fuck, you're right.
That's some ep one shit.
Like this is, we're in romance now.
Yeah, we're in romance, Bill.
So another great little hockey nod here.
We get the boys playing sewer ball out in the yard.
If any new fans who are not big hockey people's sewer ball,
is a game that guys in the hockey league and hockey in general play before games,
a lot to get the blood flow and get loosened up.
It's basically you just get a couple of hits of the soccer ball and you kick it around the circle.
And Sean, you called out, the Irishman in you, called out.
I could add some better footy skills from the boys.
I expect it wasn't bad.
It was just it wasn't what you expect out of, you know, athletes at their level.
You know, I imagine that their, like, limb to eye coordination,
regardless of hands or feet would be insane.
But I was kind of disappointed by it.
But that said, I also haven't seen actual hockey players playing before a game and like how casual they're taking it.
We're pretty good, I'd say.
Like, we're pretty good.
This was a bump for me.
I was like, they suck at soccer.
Who knows?
Maybe these two guys, they're fucking elite.
Some of the best players in the league.
Maybe they're just shit sewer guys.
Yeah.
You don't know if it's like that that was the best performance for the acting during that scene, which is clearly more important.
Yeah.
And it just happened to be like where they were like,
not being amazing, but also it's like they are having a really kind of thoughtful
conversation.
So it's not like either of them are really concentrating on the ball.
I think I was a little harsh on the stream when I was like, they suck.
No, they do.
They do.
But that's a great transition.
So in this scene, Elia talks about how he's a free agent next year.
And he's talking about maybe he'll sign with another team.
And he mentions a Canadian team.
And he's talking about his Russian passport.
He's like, it'd be nice to not have a Russian passport.
So that starts this conversation.
And it then moves to the couch inside.
They're laying on the couch together.
They're kind of just like on their phones, having some downtime.
And Rosie mentions how he could marry Spetlana.
And he's like, Spentlana has American citizenship because her dad played here in the league.
That would be easy.
Svetlana would do it.
It would be away from me to get my citizenship easily.
And Shane is a little upset here.
He's like, okay, like, but, you know, why would you do that?
And he mentions him, he's like, you like girls.
You could marry someone else.
And it would work the same way.
And Rosie's being a little flippant about it.
He's like, yeah, I mean, like, I suppose I could.
and then we have just this like beautiful moment where it feels like Rosie is messing with Shane.
And then he's like, here's the problem.
I like, I like, yes, I'm aware.
And he's like, and these girls love me.
And he's like, what a brutal problem to have.
But he then spins it into this lovely line where he's like, but whenever I'm with these girls.
The problem, yeah.
The problem is all I can think about is this boring hockey player with cute freckles.
and a weak backhand.
Fucking chills.
Okay, the weak backhand is fucking uncalled for.
Also, inaccurate.
Inaccurate if Sidney Crosby is the inspiration.
Yeah, yeah, right.
He's got the best back end in the league.
What are you talking about?
So uncalled for.
Two, at first, I was like, Halsey, say what you're feeling.
That was your whole agenda.
And when he was being like, oh, yeah, like you inspect.
It ends up being perfect.
Dude, can I tell you something?
You are the most in.
patient, horny, premature,
ejaculating fuck in the world.
Like, watching that episode with you
was torture. You were just screaming at
the screen every five. And I was like, well, you let stuff
breathe and play out for five seconds?
I can't. I can't, dude. I need, I need
no patience. Ratification.
Pachoo! Pachoo! Look, that's how
we go, dude. That's how we go over
here. And, dude,
I need it. And
it got somewhere beautiful, but at first I was
like, holy fuck, Shane, say something.
And then three, did not shock
you guys that Stetlana, my goddess is American?
I was like, what the fuck, dude?
Did I already know that?
Well, she's not American.
She just has American citizenship.
Right, but he was like, she's American, so I can be married.
I can marry her and be American.
I was like, holy shit, this just got so much easier for us.
I'm convinced.
I mean, I know I've gone through immigration and I've gone through citizenship myself.
I think he's been living in Boston long enough, not causing a problem, that that would be grounds for citizenship.
I would have thought so as well.
And like you're a skilled worker essentially because you're no one else can do what you do.
You're bringing money into the economy.
So that's probably what is permanent residency is clearly based on like, oh, you're an exceptionally skilled worker.
And so I imagine that athletes have pretty good paths to citizenship.
Obviously it doesn't make sense for the plot.
But like, for Shane being so intelligent, it would be just like, dude, you've been living in Boston for like 10 years.
Go to the immigration office.
Don't marry Spentlana.
Well, Chris, great transition because the conversation turns to Shane with tears in his eyes being like, don't marry Spentler.
And it's just very emotional.
He's like, please don't do it.
And the best part about it is, again, with those tears in his eyes, he says, we can figure something out.
And the use of we there is so unifying.
and the way Rosie just looks at them smiling
and he's like, okay,
and they're just like playing footsie.
And it's like, we are, we have entered.
Yeah, they're touching toes that whole time.
They touch toes all episodes.
But what's beautiful about that conversation
is we have entered planning stage.
The fact that they are having conversations,
and I love that technically Rosie brought it up.
Rosie brought it up when he was like,
I'm a free agent next year.
So he opened the door to like,
what are we doing here?
And now we're having this conversation.
So we cut to the boys are in bed.
Shane can't sleep.
I just had to respect, Dan, want to say that Svetlana, because a spoiler alert, obviously, she's just not.
You don't get any Svetlana in this app, which is devastating for me personally.
Boo.
But I'm, and I'm glad they boys got there for their own reasons.
But also, I want Svetlana to be able to marry someone who gives him her, his full heart.
And so does, so does Rosie for the record.
And you know what?
So does Shane.
I think part of Shane saying, don't marry her is him being like, because she deserves.
true real love as well.
Yes.
What is Elena say, dude?
It's like, so do you.
You deserve sunshine.
And so do you.
Svetlana, whether it's me or someone else,
someone will give you sunshine
and I'm glad that they squash the rosy conversation forever.
Because I was like, this isn't right for either part.
By the way, if Elena doesn't officiate Skips' wedding,
that is a huge miss.
Great call.
In my fan fiction, Chris, you marry Spetlana.
Just let you know.
Yes, thank you.
Thank you so much.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate that.
Empty Netters finds its way into season two.
Yeah, into the real world.
Spetland meets you.
Can they like replace the man in the crease?
What the fuck?
Can we get on that?
We have to.
We have to.
No, we've got to be, I don't want to be the podcast in the show.
We've got to be doing better.
Maybe we'll be the announcers in the show.
Oh, okay.
I like that.
Yeah.
All right.
So like I said, this goes into the boys are lying in bed.
Shane can't sleep.
He wakes up Rosie and he's like, I have an idea.
Yeah.
He presents to Rosie potentially playing an office.
He's like, you can sign in Ottawa, and Rosie's like, it's the same division.
There's still a rivalry there.
But he's like, dude, we've done this.
Like, it's not the same rivalry as Montreal and Boston.
There's young guys frothing at the mouth.
Let them hate each other.
We don't need to be bitter rivals until we retire.
Like, we can figure something out.
We can start a charity together.
We can say that we found a mutual interest.
We started this charity.
We started spending time together.
Ottawa's only two hours away from Montreal.
And we can make it work.
And that's,
kind of his way of being like that's how we can be closer we can be seen together people won't ask
questions and dude rosy is just woken up and in the conversation he kind of gives him he's like
dude i just woke up like what what are you been saying to me and it feels like we're going to get
shithousery rosy here where he's going to be teasing him but Shane says like this is how we can be
seen together and be together and Rosie looks at him and says he asks if that's what he wants
and Shane says more than anything and
again dude i was saying it all episode rosy is breaking he starts crying yeah rosy starts crying
he rolls over on top of shane and thank god to all the people in the chat they were saying
in russian he was mumbling i love you i love you i love dude because that doesn't come up on the on the
clearly that was a choice because like you don't see none of us had it it doesn't come up
what he said in russian and then he then he actually l bombs but like dude dude that was so sick
It's similar, like, how he's started to use that as a venting mechanism to get as emotions from the tunnel scene and the episodes prior.
It's interesting.
And he's, like, working up the courage saying it in Russian and he finally, like, says it in English.
Oh, yeah, Sean.
Honestly, Sean, like words of affirmation for himself.
Just being like to do it, do it, do it.
And then, yes, he does it.
He says, I love you.
How awesome is this?
Shane goes, holy shit.
Yeah.
And then doesn't, doesn't, doesn't, uh, doesn't Elya, like, kind of pause?
he says he begins to say something else before Shane says I love you too.
He says, I mean. He's like, I mean, because I'm sure he's like, what the fuck, dude?
I just said I love you. And again, golf claps to Jacob for like teasing us with like the classic trope in movies and TV. Someone says, I love you. The other person freezes. He says, holy shit.
And he goes, I mean, and then Shane is like, I love you too. And we're off to the fucking racist man.
It's just so beautiful. They're saying I love you over and over. Like I love you.
love you more than anything.
Yeah, yeah.
Does it fucking kill you?
Rosie's crying in his arms and they're just like kissing and just like basking in this
moment of their admission of love for each other.
And then, yeah, the line, Shane says, does it kill you too?
Yeah, and Rosie says, not anymore.
That not anymore was Hall of Fame shit.
The amount of little moments, the little facial expressions, physical tells,
and then lines here that show that, like,
the suffering is over.
You know, like, we're not hiding anymore.
And them to be able to say this stuff to each other is so fucking good.
They're lying in bed then, too.
And we get spoon position sex.
Greatest decision of all time, that is the most romantic fucking thing I've ever seen.
Yeah.
Spoon position sex is it.
You're missing one scene.
You're missing one scene, which was really important for me.
It was short.
It was sweet, but really important for me.
To write this episode, we've been getting glimpses of, like, the sunset on the water as, like, a vehicle to transition passage of time.
Great call, great call, great call.
Then we get this one shot of Rosie sitting on a rock by himself,
looking out at the water with the sunlight reflecting on it,
and then Shane comes and gives them a blanket,
and the two of them hunker under the blanket together,
which I thought was really, really nice.
That was nice.
And it kind of gave more context to the shots we were seeing previously
with the lake, the water on the lake.
And then we transition into the Spooning scene.
You're just about to take.
Sorry to interrupt.
No, no, no, I'm so glad you brought that up.
Because he's also, he's smoking a dusterer.
art in that scene too, which is also an element of acceptance because Shane doesn't like it when
he smokes.
And I also think that was the cottage.
Yeah, you're right.
Yeah.
Like, that's what the cottage was in Shane's mind where he's like, dude, we're going to sit and look at the water and relax.
He even says in the beginning.
Rosie goes, what, are we going to relax?
That's what you want to do.
And Shane goes with you, yes, for once.
I would like to relax.
And that's what that was to me where he's like, dude, it's us under a blanket, smoking a cigarette, looking at the water.
And I'm like, oh, God.
It's awesome.
So good.
So
Yeah, then they're in bed having spoon sex
Just quick, you know, quick touch on the sex scene
Because it was so good
We get a thumb in the mouth
We get nipple kissing and nipple suck in
I knew it was coming back
I fucking knew
I fucking knew the thumb was coming back
Dude, I fucking knew it
Yeah
And like that what a combination of hot and emotional
Because you know those are hot moments in the sex scene
Yeah
We also get a face hold eye contact
In the throes of that sex scene
Which was great
So next morning
They're laying in bed together
Shane asks Rosie what his mother's name was
He tells their arena
And he asks why
And he's like well I was thinking about the charity
We could open like a school
And we could put an emphasis and donate money
To mental health stuff and suicide prevention
And just like
How thoughtful that is
And I love how that that is another great
I mean we've got back to back moments here
Where Shane either like can't sleep
Or the first thing in the morning
these are the things that are on his mind.
He's his mother's son, dude.
He's a planner, and this is the most important thing
in the world to him right now is planning.
So, of course, he's thinking about this stuff.
He's not just sitting there in the moment,
in the honeymoon phase of the cottage here.
He's thinking about life after the cottage,
and that's incredible.
And there, Elia says,
she would have loved you like I love you.
Put a ring on it now, dude.
bury me in this moment,
so I will always be here,
and I never have to think about anything else.
That was,
perfect. That was actually perfect. And Dan, you want to talk about the fucking face and the acting and the voice covers and everything. That delivery of that line, everything about Ilya Rosenoff in that moment was literally perfect.
Barry me here. Thank you. It's been a wonderful life. Good day.
He also, Chris says, like he says, she would have loved you like I loved you. And then Shane says, say it again in Russian. And he does. And I wrote down, this show might single-handedly fix Russian relations with the rest of the Western world.
Just like, it's so fucking beautiful.
It sounded beautiful in that moment.
I've never thought the Russian language was so pretty.
But I don't know.
Him saying that, I was like, oh, music, dude.
So we're back, Sean.
We've got the boys in the lake.
I love what a little kid moment from Elia.
Elia's like doing a handstand in the lake.
Yeah, I love that.
If that's not like you're in your 20s pro athlete,
just like fucking around.
That was so good.
There's like a little jab about the yoga and stuff like that.
But it's just the boys being boys.
anyone else want a lake bag?
But also the little jab about the yoga.
Shane was like surprised that he saw it,
which indicates a little bit that it was a huge big thing.
It's not like appearing on the cover of a game.
And so it's like, oh, you've been paying attention to me.
Oh, like, oh, you watched that.
Like you watched the entirety of it to see the yoga questions, you know?
So I thought that was a cute little kind of like indication as well of how much attention
that he's been paying to Shane.
Dude, you know how you can pay money to go on,
I don't even know if you need to pay money,
You can go to New Zealand and do like the Hobbit Walk.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
I, if they don't rent this cottage out for a weekend getaways, I don't know what we're doing here.
I need to go.
So true, desperately.
But, so the boys, this is big.
Boys come up from the lake, they got their towels on.
No bang.
No lake bang.
Didn't get it.
You didn't get your lake bang.
I'm sorry, Chris.
No, I don't think you need as much bottom prep if you're in the water.
I just think, I just think we can just do it.
And it goes, who gives a fuck?
We're not enough to shower.
for the shower.
You're a fool,
we're fine, water.
Water is the worst lubricant.
The worst lubricant.
You clearly, dude,
your sex life sucks.
You need to stop opening your mouth
because you're just revealing to everyone
that you've literally never had sex.
Water sex is the worst.
It's like the opposite of a lubricant.
Turns everything into two sticky plastic bags
rubbing against each other.
It's fucking horrible.
So the boys are walking up.
They got their towels on.
No lake bag.
And we get an unbelievable kiss against the glass,
but oh, fuck.
someone's inside, it's Shane's dad.
That was awful.
That was an awful moment for me.
It was awful.
So they're like, holy shit.
Shane goes running in immediately.
And then the car's pulling away.
And I freaked out.
I was like, what the fuck, dad?
Like, that just didn't feel like David.
I was like, that caught me off guard.
Like, I was so unhappy in that moment because I was like, this is not him.
So he got a bad dad label in that moment.
I was like, you can't leave right there.
But in fairness, in fairness, it's like,
the we don't get to see a lot of the dad so it's kind of a mystery to the audience about how the dad would react and so this moment can be interpreted in a whole heap of ways and Shane interprets him he's going to be like you know ostracized from his family yes but it's kind of one of those things where it's like it also could have been him being like oh shit I've intruded on my son's privacy correct that's what it was huge mistake here yeah that's what it was and credit to me we'll get to in a moment yep I I know
David. I know his heart.
Yeah. And that's what it turned out to be, so that's great.
But in this moment, Shane melts down a bit.
He says, he's like, this is literally my
so did I. He's like, Elia, this is my actual
fucking nightmare. And dude,
Rosie immediately,
I went nuts during the live stream.
Yeah. The emotional
rock that this man is in this moment.
The first thing out of his mind
is, we
should go talk to them. He's like,
let's go handle this. Like he is, dude,
he is being a fucking rock.
in this moment. He's like, let's go handle this. Let's go talk to them. And I'm just like, I love
this dude. And he gives him the nightmare line again. And did you hear that? Rosie goes, well, maybe
it's time to wake up. Yes. Let's wake you up from the nightmare. That was a chills line.
Chills line. He really, he really leveled up here, Dan. Like, this is such a big moment.
King Ilya. The person you love. Zar. Just had that happen. Yeah, Zar, dude. Hail. Hail
Elia because this was like
one of those make or break
moments in relationships
in friendships, in friendships even where you're like
I needed you. I needed you in that moment
and you were there or you weren't dude
and he was there in such a big way
with no prep. Oh my God
that was fucking sick. It was unbelievable.
Shane says he's scared. Elia says
he's so brave and then he's like
I'll come with you if you want and Shane's like would you and he's like of course
dude of course I will come with you
And that was, like, if you want your citizenship, I'll marry you right now.
Because like that fucking shit was just unbelievable.
That was cool.
As you can I remember as well from Elia's perspective, from Ilius perspective, Shane was there when he had his big family conundrum.
Yes.
And obviously it was a very different dynamic.
But the way Shane approached it with a very kind of calm, headed, level, soft Shane way.
And then the way Elya approaches it with his more.
proactive, aggressive, kind of like, I don't know, we're going to fix this right now.
The same energy that he uses, like, to tease people is now getting used to help support
people.
It's really well written how both of them handle supporting their partner in their personality's
way.
I thought that was really cool.
Yeah, in their own way.
Yes, dude.
And I also had said in the live, I asked the chat this question in this moment, because
I was like, holy shit, would you want your, well, I guess it wasn't boyfriend yet, but would you
want your partner to be going with you because in my mind I'm like oh my god you got to go talk
to your parents alone to be like hey I'm so sorry I got to handle this I was thinking of the same thing
yeah and it was it was cool to hear a lot of the chat on the live be like no I would I would have loved
that with the person I was in love overwhelmingly overwhelmingly people saying yes they wanted it
yeah yeah it was so good that's sick dude yeah this is a crazy backtrack for me but Sean you
just said something about snaps and it reminded me we we forgot to mention during the
phone call blowjob scene when
Elia just randomly slap Shane in the face.
That was so fucking good.
Yeah, that was sick, dude.
I'm sorry for that crazy switchup,
but that deserved to be mentioned.
That was amazing.
That was awesome.
So, okay, so they're driving to the parents' house.
Shane is understandably nervous.
He's like, you know, his hands are tapping.
There is one great line before they go to the parents' house,
which is the Raiders T-shirt.
Oh, so good, Sean.
Yeah.
The Boston shirt's not helping.
And Rosie goes, they don't know I play for Boston.
But you know what?
That was so good. Sean, I'm so glad you mentioned that.
That's so good because it's just such a subtle way of showing that Shane's just overthinking everything in this.
Yeah.
Like that clearly doesn't matter at all, but he's just like, we don't need to like remind them that we're in the major league hockey league.
And he's like, dude.
And I'll just being like, we're good.
Yeah.
And it's nice to have someone with that level of confidence when you're freaking out that they're kind of like, it's going to be fine.
Perfect representation of someone's losing it.
Someone's steady.
It's fantastic.
So they get to the parents' house.
and the parents are just hilarious.
Like, they're waiting.
You think that the mom knows something
because, like, she looks uneasy.
But then they walk in and immediately, David starts talking,
and he's like, I left my charger at your house.
And now, you know, you're like, oh, what the fuck is going on?
What did you think live, Sean?
What did you think live?
Yeah, I think, I initially, I don't know.
And I'll need to watch it again to really,
see how the how the actors portray it but i don't know if she was just being like well it was
none of my business either like she's like or when he says like sorry you get to see that and she
says see what like what does it mean that we saw it like i wasn't quite sure if the dad did tell
if the if david did tell uh his wife his mom i forget her character's name unfortunately but uh if
david did tell her or if he didn't and her question was genuine of like what was it or like so
you can interpret it in multiple different ways, I think.
I think I'd have to really look at it and see the actor's portrayals or to see.
I personally think, because realistically, if we like, if we kind of go through it,
I don't think he was that far behind.
Yeah.
Like, you know, I think he gets there pretty soon.
So you could argue that David doesn't even have that much time to talk to her,
but I think David probably just seemed rattled.
And I interpreted it as he didn't say it because also David's
good dad.
Yeah, he's the man.
I will die on that hill.
And I believe David went, this is not my place to tell Yuna what I saw because that is
Shane's moment to do that.
Yeah.
So I believe that he didn't tell him because the Charger thing is so funny.
And then Yuna does go, she goes, found out what?
And Shane is like that I'm gay.
And I think you can see on her face, she's like, what, like what is going on?
So I believe he didn't say anything.
Me too.
And I had that reaction live.
Like, as they were coming in, I was like, oh, man, here we go.
And then I was like, wait.
What if he didn't tell her?
And then it appeared that that was true.
And I was like, holy shit.
And then it ended up not being as much of a, like, ordeal that she didn't tell her.
It just kind of, we just rolled with it, which was totally fine.
But I kind of thought that was believable.
I think if David came back, he would have been like, yeah, I got the charger.
Just put on the TV.
So I, and then I took that into, Sean, your interpretation of he left because he was like,
I just intruded on my son's privacy, not because, oh, no, I can't believe what I just saw.
Yeah.
I love that.
I did like,
I did like how when Shane came in and she asked Shane,
it was like he was locked and loaded with the,
I'm gay,
because he just rocks right out with it.
So you can tell for the entire car ride,
he must have been just like trying to work that out.
So getting that out first thing was just like,
it was so quick.
There was no,
it was like,
well,
it was just like,
I'm gay.
He just had to say it and get it out,
which I also appreciate it.
Because it seemed very realistic to me
on like how you would.
Like obviously I've never been in that situation,
but in some of situations where you need to tell something
that's uncomfortable.
to somebody, a lot of times when he spent a lot of time thinking about it, when you get in
there, you just want to get it out right away.
They were doing that convo, the whole car ride, you know, and a really important handhold
by Rosie in that car ride, I got to say.
Yeah, I really like that.
He reaches for his hand on the shifter.
He, uh, yeah, I mentioned that earlier.
Don't, don't, don't act like I didn't call out how important that was.
Um, so, yeah, he says he's gay and he's talking, he's like, I'm with Elia.
And Juna gives the, uh, but you.
hate him and I loved this because there was part of me that was like that's a funny line it's a
funny moment and also understandable like that's really the only thing she's seen from that but then
i also was like come on girl like catch up yeah yeah it's like what are we doing here but that was
great and uh he is like well no i mean actually it's the opposite i love him and they're like oh my god
so everyone sits down we get a full family sit down at the table so good and shout out
me, mom and dad are like, we kind of always had a suspicion that you're like. Yeah, yeah, you were on
that, dude. Yeah, yeah. And, but I also thought, shout out me because the writing was good.
I thought it was clear that they were kind of like, oh, maybe this could be a thing. But then they
give the timeline of when, you know, when did this start happening? And Shane is like, our rookie year.
And they're like, rookie year. And then he's like, well, no, before that, the summer before.
And then we get the lover's line. So funny. Like, they're like, they're like, you were, you've been in love since
rookie year and I love how they were both like no god
no no relax
but um that scene was funny
Dan with the lovers it was really funny
because the lovers was the callback for when when she first
goes when she goes this is
Elya Rosenoff
but you know that like that I was already laughing
and then he's like we are and Rosie's like
lovers he's like not
yeah yeah he puts his hand on his shoulder
yeah yeah yeah he's like lovers
he's like lovers and he says
and James like he's like Elya
God don't say that and then
And then, yeah, here.
The season was so good, too.
And when they're like, no, no, no.
And she's like, and he's like, before that, we were just.
And everyone's like, what?
And then Yuna is like, lovers.
And she's like, no one can say lovers again.
Fucking unbelievable.
And they, I just, this was great because it was just,
I thought mom and dad were so good in this scene.
Yeah.
Because there was no judgment.
There was no outrage.
It was just trying to understand.
It was them just asking.
asking questions of being like, you're our son, we love you.
We just, like, what was, what's been going on,
letting him have the opportunity to get everything off his chest and kind of just
explain this.
I thought that was so good.
Also, I've got to play cards with the Hollander family.
That sounded fucking dialed, dude.
I was like, holy shit.
Playing no games.
Yeah, I'd rather die.
And I loved here, too, Dad, David asked immediately, he's like, so what's the plan?
And, like, they are kind of like, you know, like, we'll probably just, you know,
play out our careers and or dad is like you're just going to like play out your careers and then
come out when you retire and i like oh shane is like probably yes and elya just supportive rock
partner is like yes probably yeah like he's just like going with anything but i loved how you know there
i was like no that's sad that was such a nice line that was great but then before she leaves dan
the uh i thought you know when the dad goes um you're a ladies man well that's what i was about to get to
okay well this in that run of thing
I felt like the dad would have gone, also gone.
Shane, you banged J-law twice.
Like, I am slightly curious about the J-Law bag.
As funny of a joke as that is, Chris, I don't think so,
because when they say, they're like,
we suspected you might be gay, his dad goes,
we know you pretty well.
And I think he is like, that whole time,
I could tell that you were not in love with Rose Landry.
Like, I think that's why that's why that's.
It's funny that it doesn't, that Rose doesn't come up because maybe I'm getting my timeline
confused, but it seems like it was relatively recent.
It was.
It was at, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
I think like we just had this All-Star game.
So it is funny that it doesn't come up during this conversation.
I felt like he definitely would have asked about it.
Like, you've just been in a public relationship with a massive movie star.
I'm just curious.
I think, yeah.
Again, I think anyone else that comes up, the parents, I think it doesn't for a specific
reason because I think they knew it was bullshit.
But it was nice to see that the parents were still
like thinking about Shane in a protective way
by saying like, oh, it's like obviously
the question of oh, it's surprising because you have such a
reputation as a ladies man. It is a genuine
question because it is surprising to them
because he has such a reputation as ladies man.
But also as the parents of somebody,
if you knew that your child's partner
had a reputation of being perhaps
promiscuous, you'd be afraid that
this partner might break your child's heart.
Yeah. And it's like they're kind of like
they're kind of like asking to be
to being like, hey, are you going to take this seriously?
Because my son is going to take this seriously.
Well, now, Sean, now you are getting the too horny label
because you're both too horny and you're both jumping ahead too much.
Sorry.
Well, no, no, no.
Because, yes, this is the next line.
And I think that was David, like, in a protective way.
He goes, Ely, I'm surprised.
You have such a reputation for a ladies man.
I think you're absolutely right.
That was him being like, are you going to take care of my son here?
Like, what's your deal?
They say, Elya's like, it's not untrue.
Shane says Elya likes both.
And then Elya is like, yes, but I've only ever loved one person.
So he immediately answers the fears that David had.
He's like, I have been that, but I love this kid.
And like they kiss in front of the parents.
We see the smiles on the parents' faces.
We see their feet touching under the table.
Shane's wearing boat shoes.
He's such a fucking dork, and it's awesome.
And I love him.
And it's just so good.
The stylist got him those shoes.
I wouldn't call him dirty shoes.
Those are fashionable beyond you understand.
And you're right, Sean.
And she said when you're at the lakehouse, you have to wear these.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, right?
So, um, mom goes outside and tear jerk moment fucking out of control.
She's just taking a second.
Shane comes out.
He puts a cardigan over her.
And he says, he's like, I wanted to.
tell you I wanted so many times to say things, but it was just difficult.
And then he apologizes and instantly, you know, is like, you have nothing to apologize for.
Is he saying that, sorry, sorry to interrupt you again, but is he saying that you're never interrupting.
This is a discussion, baby.
Does he say that he's like, I'm sorry for trying as in trying to explain?
Or is he saying trying as in trying to be straight?
I, I, no, I'm trying to be straight.
That's how I took the line.
Yeah, I thought he said, I need you to know I really tried, but I couldn't help it.
Because he finishes that line with saying, but I couldn't help it.
Sorry, that's what you're asking.
Yeah, I legitimately, that line broke my heart.
Because I literally thought he was like, I'm sorry, Mom.
I tried as hard as I could to be straight.
And I was like, oh, dude, Jesus.
Yeah.
I think it's a combination of that as well as, like, you know,
tried as hard as I could to, like, fight this, to fight the urge and, you know,
fit into the social norms.
I think that's, yeah, what he was apologizing for.
And which was, you're right, guys.
Like that was utterly devastating.
And again, she says he has nothing to apologize for,
and she says that she's sorry that she made him feel like he couldn't tell her.
And I think that is such a good, you know, acknowledgement for a parent.
Like, it's, and it's one of those things where you almost want him to be like,
no, you don't have to say sorry for that.
But like, ultimately, he did feel like he couldn't tell her for a while.
And I love that she is so sorry about that.
And she says how proud she is at him.
Fuck, this was so intense.
I know this scene was a fucking sledgehammer.
And then she says, please forgive me.
And they're hugging, and I thought this was so important,
I did want to take a moment to highlight this.
They're hugging, and he says, I forgive you, mom, and I love you.
And I'm so glad they made the choice to have him say that
because I feel like so many things in moments like this are left unsaid,
whether you feel them or not.
but it could have just been a, you know, a heartfelt embrace where, you know, he doesn't say, I forgive you because he doesn't feel like he even needs to say it.
But I think the verbal confirmation, it just shows such a level of trust and understanding and acceptance that I'm so glad we got that moment.
Yeah, and there's so many, like, role model characters in this, in this series in that, yes, it's like the hockey players and their journey coming out may be inspiring to,
real audience members who might be struggling with that same thing.
But then to allow the parents, the fact that they gave them their parents some grace for creating an environment where they didn't feel comfortable coming out.
So obviously the parents are a good role model for people in that situation.
And then also the fact that the parents are getting the forgiveness from their children, it's like also might be telling somebody, hey, maybe be, you know, forgiving of your parents for not facilitating this environment for you as well.
So it's like, it's just everyone in the show just handles every situation so well.
It's always amazing that it's interesting because you'd imagine a show where everybody is like pretty like down to earth would just be really boring.
Yeah, everyone just seems to be really, really cool.
It's really well said by you both because I was ready for him.
She goes, you don't have to apologize, Shane, of course.
And then I was ready for her to him to return that to her.
She goes, I'm sorry, you didn't have to feel that way.
And I thought he was going to go, you have nothing to apologize for mom.
You've been amazing and blah, blah, blah.
So I did think it was a major choice by the show to have him go, I forgive you.
Because that's a acknowledging you did something.
Yeah, exactly.
That's why I said, well said by both of you.
Because I was like, man, that's a big line where he's like, I forgive you.
Because he loves you.
And it's not like he ever felt unloved by her.
Of course not.
He has felt overwhelming love from her.
But in this one thing, I forgive you because, you know, this was the world we lived in.
And now, and now, I think she even goes like, enough or that's it or whatever.
Yeah, she says enough.
Yeah.
That was lovely.
I think it's just so.
It is important to hear those words.
The encouragement is that your parents will accept you
and your children will forgive you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dude, you know how I always make shitty jokes in serious moments?
In this moment, I go, I was thinking to myself,
God, she's probably seeing fucking dollar signs.
She could probably talk endorsements big time now.
And then literally it cut to her going like, I'm going to call Rolex.
And I was like, oh, shit.
God, so, sorry.
Again, sorry, everyone.
We're over an hour again here.
We talk about the show forever.
So we'll try to wrap up here.
We are towards the end.
But yes, they go inside.
We're now having a full family dinner.
And mom is in planning mode immediately.
She's talking about the PR of it.
She's talking about the brands.
CAA, go hire this woman instantly because she's out of control.
She's unreal.
But they bring up the Ottawa plan, which again, I love because that wasn't just lip service.
It wasn't brand.
And they're like, no, no, this is real.
And I love how much of a hockey gal unit is when she's like, what about Boston?
Like they drafted you.
You got to show loyalty.
And Shane even calls it out.
He's like, my mom likes hockey too much.
And Rosie's like, yeah, I fucking see where you get it.
It's unbelievable.
But I love that.
I love how the dad asks if anyone spoke to Scott.
Dude, how would that not come up yet?
I was like, oh, my God.
Good call.
I think they had other things on their fucking mind, Chris.
Like maybe talking to their son about coming out for the first time.
Yeah.
But I love that we got that.
Ely was like, I did.
I talked to him.
And he makes sure to say he's like, I didn't tell them about Shane.
me, but him doing that
changed things for me.
And I just thought that was awesome
that he's like, you know,
like the changing things.
We talked a lot about how Rosie was
breaking and being a little more open and comfortable
and that being a huge part of it.
To your point, Chris, earlier, is a testament
to how important that moment is
and his speech and what it would do.
This is referencing that again. We're already
seeing it being done to another guy in the league.
Sean, now that we're done,
do you care at all?
that the hotel next door thing never came back.
Like, remember he was like, because we were waiting the whole time.
I was like, surely that will matter at some point.
Well, hold on, season two, season two, you never know.
Well, I mean, it's like, I, maybe we'll come up again in season two.
I think it served some level of function, just not as much as what we had hypothesized that it would.
I'm kind of disappointed that it didn't because we all clocked it so well and we're like,
oh, and it never kind of came to me.
When Rosie said, I spoke to him, I was like, oh, here it is.
He's going to go, I spoke to him.
And he's going to be like, he heard us.
He heard us in the hotel.
Yeah.
And I was like, oh, yes.
And then they're like, just kidding.
That would be fun.
We know Scott for sure knows because of the line he said on the ice in episode.
Yeah, yes, correct.
Yeah.
So I don't even know what kind of revelations it could give us in season two unless it's just like a jumping around flashback sequence where you go.
Yeah, we go back.
He's listening to him next door.
Yeah.
He's just going, oh, what's that?
Jesus Christ.
Yeah.
That's funny.
but the little last bit
we get that great moment where Shane's kind of freaking
like he goes head down on the table
and he's like I'm okay
I'm just like freaking out a little bit because there's just so much
going on here.
Absolutely, absolutely
and Elya has that great moment
where he just kind of puts his hand on his back and he's like
hey you're good here
like your family is here
your boyfriend's here you're safe you're in a good space
and just how fucking adorable
is that like that's some teenage
shit where Shane like looks up and he's like my boyfriend boyfriend and he's like I mean yeah
Rosie's like I mean yes like yeah probably like probably probably yes and just like they you know it's
like that's just so good they kiss and you know seeing seeing the parents like looking at them with
such big smiles in their face is amazing um and then as they kiss got to be the best lines in the
episode they're sitting there just like in love
and you know goes since
since rookie season
and David goes
the summer before
what this fucking
David dude
you dirty dog David
what a snite
haymaker line
to like finish that moment
at the table
but then we end the episode
the kids are walking out
they're getting in their car
and they're talking about food
and what they're going to bring
and the parents are coming to the cottage
they're going to meet them there
they're going to have a whole family
get together get away
and just the looks on the two of their faces as they get in the car,
and they're like, we'll text you.
They're like, drive safe.
Did you hear what they said there, Dan?
What was it?
She goes, we'll come in, and he goes, text before.
And she goes, we'll just come by.
He goes, please text before.
Yes.
Yeah.
That was like, so good.
So good.
And, yeah, they pop in the car.
They start driving.
We get credits while they're driving.
We get like a full two and a half minutes of them just driving.
That was the end.
That's shocking.
But it was so good.
And you pointed out, Chris, you were like, this is the happiest moment of both of their lives.
And truly, it is.
They are literally driving off into the sunset.
It is the most iconic ending to a love romance story you could imagine.
Yeah.
And don't forget, Shane had just said, this is my nightmare.
My parents finding out.
And Rosie's like, let's go wake up.
And then if he had told Shane, don't worry, in 20 minutes, your parents are going to be completely accepting.
They're going to know where in love and everything's going to be fine.
and they love you and we're all going to be having dinner together at the cottage.
Like literally.
Nightfare to dream, yeah.
I would pay for a scene, deleted scene of what Rosie and David talked about,
well, Shane and you and I had their conversation.
Oh, yes, Dan.
Dude, you got to do that fanfic.
What do you think they said?
I just love David so much.
I bet it was either they just started talking about hockey and the season.
Talking puck, yeah.
Maybe talking about Ottawa being like,
Ottawa could be a good spot for you.
Dude, you had a Caps base.
You know?
It could have been something like that.
I like that.
Let me give you my last season one CP fanfic.
And I'm genuinely curious about your guys take because that episode that we just watched was amazing and the ending was flawless.
But I think we, like, the episode five ended and we were all like, how are we going to beat that?
You know, that was such a sick moment.
What if they had gone like this?
Shane gets hurt.
So he's out for the rest of the season, right?
So he can't play in playoffs.
And then Ilya, instead of going to the Eastern Conference finals,
loses in the first round, big upset to Scott Hunter in New York.
Okay?
He's out.
So now they both have like a month and a half off before the cup.
And that's when they go.
Like Shane goes, let's go to the cottage.
And Elia goes, okay.
And I know he only went to the cottage because Scott said his thing in the current version.
But let's just say he was like, okay, I'll go to the cottage with you.
And we get everything we just saw in this episode is like during playoffs because they're not in it anymore.
So they're like, who gives a fuck?
the mom everything happens everything happens the same but as they're having the moment like he's just told
his family and they're all having dinner they're having dinner watching game six of the cup and scott hunter
wins and kisses kip there so like the end of the season is like Shane the best moment of Shane's life
and scott hunter kisses kip and we end the season them driving off into the sunset knowing
holy shit the MVP just kissed someone on national television and you're you ready
I knew you were going to say that.
That was the most obvious.
That was the most obvious review of all time.
The only thing you changed was that everyone's moment is slightly diminished
because they're all happening at the same time and not getting their own shine.
I just wanted, I got two separate peaks, and I just wanted it all to.
I got two.
You wanted twin peaks.
You wanted twin peaks.
Yeah, it's on the same day.
On the same day, dead.
I like that it was spaced out.
Because I think we needed one to get the other.
Which was their argument.
Like Rosie only went to the cottage because he saw him kiss, Kipp.
Yeah, yeah.
I think it would be a little bit of a cool little switcheroo to experiment with.
But I like the order of events and the spacing that happens between them.
Yeah.
Yeah, I was surprised.
Hold on. Hold on here. CP.
The sun is literally setting on us here.
We're coming up on an hour and a half.
So I think we paused the fanfic to give out our final finale awards and wrap up here.
I love it.
Okay, so interesting one to choose from here.
Horned Up Award.
What do you guys have?
I mean, this has got to be unanimous again.
I think it's honest to be unanimous as well.
Yeah.
The Hayden phone Blowy.
The phone call Blowy, but I'm going to be, I'm going to be,
I'm going to be specific.
It was the slap in the face for me.
Okay.
I'll go specific too, Dan,
because once I realized what this was,
I was like, oh, yeah, dude,
I am stealing the fuck out of that.
Both giving and requesting.
Like, I might even,
I might even throw a few of these
while I'm on the phone.
Let us know how that works out for you, dude.
I'd love to find out what the hit ratio is on that.
You got to give a few, Dan.
You give a few, Dan. You give a few, you give a few of these.
You give a few, man, you get a few.
And then I'm on the phone.
So I'm taking that.
That was horned up as hell.
That was good.
Yeah.
Okay.
I have to say the same answer with a slap in the face.
I think that has to take the cake.
Yeah, that was good.
That was really good.
I think we, Sean, you and I might have the, and Chris, it might be all three of us.
I think my what the fuck moment was the sewer ball.
The boys got to work on the touch.
Yep.
For sure got to work on the touch.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I had flagged the, the, I guess,
things kind of, I came around on a few of these.
One, though, like, we have plenty of food line after being like, we got a grocery shop.
The eight burgers thing.
I was like, that was so crazy because it didn't matter.
But I softened on those.
For me, dude, the what the fuck, and I will live with the budget is Kip not being at awards.
I was like, buddy.
No, that was fair.
That's fucking your, that's your guy.
Like, you just, you just kissed him on national television.
He's going to come to awards.
You've convinced me.
I'm on, I'm on board with that, Chris.
I think that's my biggest, uh, the LEPF.
Got to be here.
Yeah, you're right.
I think, I think the budget thing.
is probably right, but not having Kip
there was...
But you can have a close-up, like
higher six extras.
Put them around. Put them backstage.
For all I can. He's already been in the tux.
We've seen him in the tux. Get the tucks again.
It's the same fucking suit. Put him back in the suit.
Take a picture.
They have, they have, like,
we go backstage at almost any
live event like that. Behind the curtain,
there's going to be like tables and TVs
where like the other guests and speakers
are going to be like sitting around watching
the live feed from front of house on the TV.
Anyway, just sit them back there. Put them in the dark
with a TV.
It's fine.
It's almost like, yeah.
Yeah, I just, I don't buy the budgetary restrictions.
Yeah, I will say, what it did serve to do is that it put us in the bar in the King Fisher
where we could see some of the other characters for a brief little moment to in the last.
Which was cool.
Those actors and those characters were so important for one episode.
We need a dad, though.
We did need dad.
We need dad.
I'm hoping season two is dad's arc when he comes out.
Yeah, yeah, dude.
I'm here for that big time.
That's in my fan fiction.
Yeah, I like that.
Okay, and then I love this moment.
For me, we just touched on it.
I think it was the parents since rookie season summer before.
That is your love is.
Getting that moment at the dinner table with the parents,
the whole thing, I just loved so much.
And then just like showing them basking and the love of these two.
and that line
I thought the line delivery was so good
and I thought the sentiment was so good
there were so many to choose from though
like so many just like beautiful moments
so what do you guys have?
Sean, Sean what's yours?
I really liked when they put the
when they were sitting watching the water
getting to relax
and Shane comes out with the blanket
I thought it was shot beautifully
I thought it was just like
it was such a poetic image
but honestly like the whole episode
about 70% of this episode
is just us finally getting to enjoy
our characters
in an environment where we wanted to see them
where they're finally happy for a little bit
because there's been so much drama
and for the same reason that I like episode three
where it's like a complete story
this episode is great and that it finally rounds things off
and with people that seemed like they could communicate well
and it wasn't just nonsense
the dad didn't run off and then what was that
like overly dramatic or anything
It seemed very grounded and it seemed very realistic.
And I like that it rounded out the story a lot.
So the do I love this, I think, for me is the, I do love this.
Yeah, that's the answer.
Yeah, the answer is yes.
Yeah.
The answer is I love this.
I love every bit of it.
The three biggest haymakers for me were Scott's speech.
To kick it all the way back to literally the opening scene in the movie.
So good.
Scott's speech.
And then the entire parent scene, like literally the whole scene, but I'll zoom in on that.
exchange you pointed out, Dan, of like, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
But I just will never get past.
I will rewatch this entire season, and I will never get past Rosie going.
She would have loved you like I love you.
Thank you.
I'm so glad you called that one out.
That is literally my favorite moment from the whole season.
Yeah.
There were so many moments with the boys at the cottage.
I loved that one.
And then my honor will mention, I didn't want to steal yours in case this got mentioned,
was the Not anymore.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
When they confess their love to each other, and Shane is like, is it, you know, is it killing you?
And Ely says, not anymore.
I was just like, fuck me, man.
Like, this is so good.
So, so good.
Fucking insane, bro.
Well, what do we do now?
We go back to doing hockey, hockey podcasting?
I guess we're talking about hockey now.
Boom.
Yeah.
All I can say is when we started this, it was.
say, you know, three guys in the film industry, a couple of writers who saw a great new show
that dabbles a bit in the hockey world, and it made sense to talk about. And now here we are
just doing a massive live stream with so many unbelievable people getting to talk about this
incredible romance. And I'm so glad we're here. I'm so glad we're all in the cottage together.
Yes, dude. Barry me here, dude. And I can't wait for more stuff in this universe, but also just
across everything. Like we said at the end of the live, we're going to find a way to continue
to talk about entertainment in this way because it's been fucking amazing because this is our other
massive passion. So it's colliding. It's incredible. To piggyback on that, CP, you're so right. I guess
I'll close with, obviously, we have a lot of new fans in here watching these and we're so happy
you found us. And whether you're a hockey fan or not, we'd ask, stick with us. I'm sure we'll
We'll stay horned up.
We'll stay emotional and we'll find so many fun things to talk about that I'm sure we'll all love and enjoy.
So let's just keep having a blast together.
Sean, final thoughts?
Yeah.
Yeah.
And until then, I guess we skate hard.
We skate hard.
I love it.
