You know, it's either you sit on your couch and mope around or get to work.
So I just tried to put in the necessary effort and do the extra so that when puck does drop again, I'm ready to go.
Ice is ready and we are back with another episode of the MTNetters podcast brought to you by BetMGM.
I'm your host, Dan Powers.
And with me, a man who once drank 30 beers and tried to learn, I think, the Mario theme on the piano and sliced his hand open in the doing.
Chris Powers
What was the song?
Thunder Road
There was blood on the keyboard.
Why did I think it was Mario?
I think you were playing Mario
while doing it.
I literally you guys come in
and I'm like
D-Dunk-Dunk
It's unbelievable.
Oh dude that
I made a bit at it.
You had a swimming pool
Of an empty Budlight
hands at your feet
and a bloody hand
I thought we had been wrong.
I tried to high kick you or Sam.
I can't remember.
It was stew.
It like flipped over.
Yeah.
Yeah, you almost killed yourself.
Woo!
Those are the days, those are the days.
What's funny is people who know you could hear that story,
they could think it was 15 years ago or yesterday.
Yesterday, yeah.
It's really, really, really, really, special stuff.
Don't give me any ideas.
Wouldn't possibly.
It's special stuff about as special as this interview with newly signed.
How are you doing?
Carolina Hurricanes fantastic star forward, Logan Stankeman.
Dude, he had told him.
He had told us that everyone calls him Stanker, and that's a good nickname.
Fantastic.
But I just think I would go Stank.
I would go Stanks.
Oh, with an S.
That's actually probably the best.
Stanks.
Stanks.
God, great kid.
Yo.
Hit him again, Ike.
And this time put some steak on it.
This kid loves hockey.
Oh, he's a mutant.
He loves hockey.
He's just a brain.
He is obsessed in the best way.
And listen, I feel bad for Dallas.
me too. You got moose.
Yeah, but this one's...
Stank's going to be good for a long time.
Very, very, very long time.
He's fantastic. The interview's fantastic.
Please enjoy.
Coming all the way from Cam Loops, British Columbia, a native there,
the WHL player of the year and the CHL player of the year for the Blazers,
the WHL and CHL Sportsman of the Year,
a Memcub leading score winner, a U-18 gold medalist,
a back-to-back world junior gold medalist,
A HL Rookie of the Year,
47th pick in the 2021 draft by the Dallas Stars
and now a member of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Logan Stankovan,
welcome to the Empty Netters podcast.
It's a joy to have you.
Yeah, thank you very much for having me.
Appreciate it.
Of course, dude, of course.
Dude, I was told you're a bit of an Adam Sandler guy.
Did you watch Happy Gilmore, too?
I did, yes.
Yeah, I watched it like the night it came out,
or the day it came out.
I really liked the start of it,
And then I wasn't a huge fan of the maxi golf.
I thought it got a little silly when that happened.
But other than that,
I loved it just like the throwbacks
and I guess the flashbacks from the first one.
That was pretty funny.
I can appreciate that critique so much.
Like I feel like way too many people were just like,
no, it was a blast.
But I'm like, nope, the maxi golf shit was insane.
It just went too far, eh?
Yeah.
I actually kind of liked, I was like, oh, they're making fun of live.
This is cool.
And then it got so crazy that I was like, ah.
Oh, when they had the moving dance floor green
and then like the ice hole.
I was like,
what the fuck is happening right now?
Yeah.
Yeah, that was wild.
But I loved like how many famous athletes
and artists and whatnot were in it.
That was cool.
But yeah,
I just wasn't a huge fan of the Maxie Golf.
Well,
was hey, Stanker,
when did you, like,
because you weren't even alive
when Happy Gilmore One came out, right?
Yeah, that's probably true.
So when, how did you start to,
how did you find the original?
Like, when,
what age were you when you started to watch that first one?
Um,
Good question.
I've watched it so many times now.
I'd probably say like around 11 or 12.
Perfect.
I'd probably say.
Love that.
Yeah.
I think that's when I first watched it.
And I've just, yeah, it's, it's so easy to watch over and over again.
Yeah, it's automatic.
It's so good still, man.
Like it holds up so well every single time.
That's the thing.
It just imprints on you at that age.
And then that was my favorite part about, too,
was just hanging out with those jokes again, you know?
Just like being with the boys, happy Gilmore.
I'll take that all day. It's true. Yeah. Yeah, it's amazing. Well, dude, Dan and I, we're always
talking about how it's so cool to get to play for where you're from. It doesn't always happen
in life. It's kind of why high school sports are so awesome, where it's like, these are the moments
where these kids get to wear the jersey of their hometown, and you got to do it for the Blazers,
like Dan said, listed all your accolades, player of the year here, player of the year there. It's
unbelievable. That experience for you, well, chaotic at times with some of the COVID stoppages,
especially during your draft year.
Madness.
But that experience must have been such a joy for you
after going to so many of those games as a kid
and cheering them on,
and then next thing you know,
you're lighting it up for them,
team captain and all that.
What was that like?
Yeah, it was pretty surreal,
very fortunate and blessed
just how everything worked out
with the WHOL draft.
And, yeah, the Blazers were kind of right in that area
of kind of where I was going to be selected,
hopefully,
and yeah, just being able to watch the games as a kid and then, you know, being at the rink and, you know, stepping on the ice and playing my first few games with the Blazers jersey on, it was pretty cool.
And the four years did go by very fast, like you said, it was kind of in the midst of COVID.
So basically missed two full, you know, playoffs and, you know, a season and a half of hockey.
So that was tough.
But, you know, other than that, it was a great experience.
and, you know, awesome for my family and I getting to stay home for junior.
Were you so fired up when you got selected by the hometown team?
Like, was that exactly what you wanted to happen?
Yeah, yeah, that was exactly what I wanted to happen.
And like I said, just really grateful that it all worked out that way.
And my family, you know, couldn't have been happier.
And I got to play in front of lots of friends and relatives each night.
And, yeah, all four years, we had to be a really.
really competitive team too. So we had some deep runs, which was nice. That's such a dream.
Yeah. Oh, dude. And listen, some people are, honestly us in a way, being in California, I look back
on the COVID time and I'm like, well, it wasn't that bad. I was just like sitting outside the house
with our friends, you know. But dude, I look at you. You must look back on COVID. You came back
from that break and lit it the fuck up, dude. So what, what did you do during the COVID stoppage that made you
come back and be the best player alive.
I just tried to take advantage of, you know, so much off time, whether it was like in the gym
or on the ice or shooting pucks in my garage.
I love just, you know, being able to kind of, as much as it was, you know, tough not playing
games, I just, you know, it's either you sit on your couch and mope around or get to work.
So I just tried to put in the necessary effort and, you know, do the extra so that when, you know,
the puck does drop again, I'm ready to go.
And I mean, I was also like a year and a bit older as well.
So I think that helps, you know, coming back and being a little bit more experienced as well.
Everyone else is just playing Call of Duty and scrolling TikTok and Stank's fucking ripping shots in the garage.
That's huge.
Only way to do it.
I was, don't worry.
I was playing some video games too.
I mean, how could you not?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Those days are long.
Those days are long, eh, when you're just at home the whole time, you're like, oh, shit.
We got up to some weird shit then for sure.
Yeah.
Is it true?
Because we read that for draft, because again, your draft, you played like six games or something.
It was insane.
And everyone was getting drafted remote.
Did the NHL network send you the webcam for the first round?
Because they were like, hey, you got to be ready.
Yeah.
So was that chaos where you're like, fuck you guys.
You jinxed me.
This is insane.
Yeah, it was kind of weird just because we had it set up in our living room and it was just,
my parents, myself and my sister,
and we're all just kind of sitting around
and watching the draft,
and each pick goes by in the first round,
and I'm not selected, I'm not selected.
So that was tough, but it worked out all,
like worked out well now.
Like, looking back on that,
the draft doesn't mean a whole lot.
Like, yeah, it helps to go in the first round,
but at the end of the day,
you're still going to make the team
and, you know, prove yourself.
Yeah.
Well, NHL Network's got footage of Stanker,
just smashing sticks in the living room.
Just fucking delete this.
Hide that, hide that, hide that.
Yeah.
But, I mean, you ended up at a great place, and we were just talking about playing video games,
so we've got to go to probably the greatest Fortnite era of your life.
When you end up in Dallas, and you're on this team that's known for great drafting, great young players,
and you're ripping it up with Wyatt, Maverick, a bunch of those young guys, you're all developing together.
What were those days like?
I know you're still great buddies with those guys, but when you're living in Pavelski's house,
just hanging with the boys while he's out golfing was.
Was that just the best time ever as you're coming into the league with such a good group of young guys?
Yeah, it was a lot of fun.
I think, you know, me, you know, Harley, Johnny, Borky kind of came up for the end of playoffs there.
But for, you know, this past season, all four of us were pretty tight.
And yeah, we were playing some video games.
And even this past season, though, we got a ping pong table off Jamie Ben.
And we threw it in Wyatt's apartment.
and set that up.
So we were having some good matches in tournaments,
so that was a lot of fun.
I imagine the ping pong gets a little hostile
with some competitive juices flowing.
Yeah, I bet.
Who's got the hot paddle?
We all kind of had our own turns
that went in the tournament that we'd kind of put on.
But if I were to non-biased at all,
it'd probably be Thomas Harley.
I think he was probably the most consistent.
We were all tight.
We were all tight.
They were tight games for.
sure. Be honest, did anyone smash a paddle ever?
No, no one smashed a paddle, actually.
Well done, boys. Good, good restraint. Good control. That's amazing.
I've always, I loved looking at that team, especially that era when you were still with them.
You had such an interesting group of great young, up-and-coming talent and then these all-time
veterans. What was that dynamic like with guys like all of you boys? And then you're in the
locker room and you're on the ice with guys like Pav and Ben and Sags. Was that a great balance that you had there?
Yeah, it was. It was nice to be able to learn from those older guys and just have that veteran presence,
like guys that have been around the league a lot and have had a lot of success. It was nice to learn from those guys.
And like you said, I got to live with Pavelski and kind of see what he does day to day to keep himself in shape and how he treats his body and why he was able to play for so long.
And yeah, I learned a lot during my time there.
I mean, that's a good model too.
Oh, dude.
Jesus Christ, yeah, a guy could still play today easily.
Was there anything weird he did?
Like, did he have any interesting habits day-to-day at the house that you were like,
oh, would not have expected that?
No, nothing kind of out of the blue.
One thing that I thought was pretty cool, though, was there was some nights where we'd sit down
and we'd watch hockey in the living room together, and he'd have like this, like, it was
like a roller, but it was like super, super,
heavy. Like I'd probably say it was like an 80 pound roller. So you just kind of let it like
sit on your like your thigh or your, um, I guess like your calf and you can just,
you kind of move it back and forth, but it's so heavy that it's like like it, um, it like
almost hurts. Yeah. It's like it's digging into like your muscles and stuff. But, um,
yeah, I guess like he used that a lot. So that was that was kind of interesting. I'd never
seen anyone use that before. Yeah. I mean, like the guy when he's lounging at home,
I'm still taking care of the body.
Well, dude, I like it because it's kind of doing the work for you.
Like usually when I've got the foam roller, I feel like I'm leaning into the thing so hard to try to get it to dig.
This thing, Pav's working smarter always, do.
Definitely.
Yeah.
Did he, was he ever busting your guy's balls when you were just vitting, you playing video games when he would go off to play golf?
No, I don't think he did at all.
Honestly, looking back, we probably should have went out in golf with him too.
But he loved, like, he was just so dialed in his golf game.
and love to hit the course, you know, once we were done at the ring for the day.
So, um, see, I think he knew like we played a lot of video games, but we'd also play with
his son Nate too.
So we'd kind of keep him busy and we played mini sticks with him as well.
So that was fun too.
Perfect trade.
It's almost, it feels like it'd be more intimidating to get on the course with Pat than play hockey
with him.
I mean, he's such a stick.
It's ridiculous.
Yeah, he didn't want you guys to come golf.
Yeah.
He's like, stay home with the kid.
Johnny's like solid.
I'm not, I'm not going to lie.
I'm not a great golfer.
I'm like a bogey golfer, but like I almost felt embarrassed to be out on the course with him.
I remember one night we went out and we were just chipping and doing some putting
and I was like embarrassed to be out there because this guy's like nasty at golf and I'm like
chunking like my chip shots and stuff.
Every time the lead edge just digs into the turf paths just looking at you, you know,
I'm destroying the course.
I'm so sorry.
That's amazing.
So real.
When you said it was like Fortnite and NHL, right?
When that's what you guys were ripping down there?
Yeah.
Yeah.
we kind of mix it up.
Yeah.
Do you,
are you the I play as myself guy in NHL?
Or do you,
do you play as other people?
No,
you just play with,
uh,
we'd usually just play like,
uh,
uh,
EASHL,
like threes or whatever.
So we just kind of like create your own character and play.
And it'd usually be like,
yeah,
me,
Johnny,
Harley on a team and we'd play whoever else is,
is out there playing.
So that was fun.
Yeah,
that's awesome.
When we had Brady Kachuk on, he was like, oh, I play as myself only.
And it's like past 70 points.
Yeah.
That's funny.
A little automatic tire pump, you know, it's pretty sick.
So Stanker, obviously the massive trade went down this year.
And we've heard you tell a bunch of stories about that.
The highlight for me being you found out from the boys on the group chat, eh?
They were like, hey, dude, it might be you.
That must have been nuts.
Yeah, that was crazy.
What were you doing when that happened?
Were you just like out and about not checking your phone
and then you just caught up on the chat
and you were like, wait, what the fuck happened?
No, it was after, I think we played that night against Calgary
and I was just kind of, I think I'd just eaten
my post game meal at home or like back in my apartment
and I was just, it takes me a bit to fall asleep
so I think I was like, yeah, just playing some video games with the boys
and these were like my old junior teammates
and guys were back home and one guy hopped on the mic,
and was like stanks like uh you see the rumor out there looks like you might be getting traded i'm
like no like you're just messing with me sure enough he sends me a tweet on twitter and it's um
like j swish like schmaltz yeah yeah he called himself the people's phone yeah yeah the people's
insider yeah yeah the people's inside of that's it is so yeah that was uh as soon as he tweeted that out
like it just kind of picked up steam and uh took off from there and then sure enough the next next
and throughout the day, yeah, found out and rest is history.
Chaos, dude.
So obviously the thing I found most interesting, because of course, that's an maddening, chaotic 24 hours for you.
And, of course, you're dealing with the, like, I was just kind of bonding with these guys,
all those guys you've been listing that you were becoming friends with and in this organization.
So ignore all that for a second, which is already crazy.
Was there any added stress, I guess, is the word, baby, that it wasn't just you got trained.
But you're the part going back for a mega superstar, the likes of which we don't often see get traded.
You know what I mean?
Like all of a sudden you're like, oh yeah, I'm part of the Miko Ranton trade.
But it was also who had just been traded a month before.
Yeah, yeah.
Like it was a, it was crazy that he got dealt again.
Like everybody's talking about that big deal.
Was that, like, is that added stress of the trade for you too?
Adobe Acrobat Studio, your new foundation.
Use PDF spaces to generate a presentation.
grab your docks your permits your moose AI levels of your pitch gets it in a groove
choose a template with your time this cool come on now let's flex those two draft design deliver
make it sing AI builds the deck so you can build that thing do that do that do that with
acrobat learn more at adobe.com slash do that with acrobat um it's tough because like he's a superstar
in the league and then, you know, I'm just a rookie still, like, trying to find my way and
solidify myself in the league. So, um, coming in there, the guys were really good with me.
Like, they were very welcoming and, um, Rod, you know, he just told me to go out there and
play and you kind of learn on the fly. So they were really, um, you know, really welcoming and
made me feel right at home. And, you know, within like five or six games, I felt like I could,
uh, fit right in and, uh, do my thing. So,
It was a great transition and really happy with how things were in Carolina.
Yeah, I mean, you just said it.
You did fit in so well with that group.
And it's interesting because there's all that funny talk about Carolina.
It's Rod is such an intense guy.
They've got this different system.
It doesn't mesh well with everyone.
And then you came in with all of the hype around this big trade like CP mentioned, and it just worked great.
What was it about the group and about Rod and about that community that you felt pretty quickly
was a good fit and just a good spot for you.
I think it's just like the work.
Like everyone shows up to the rink and we put in the work.
You know, our practices are high pace.
We don't really go to the board during practice.
Like everyone knows the drills and everyone knows what's expected.
So our practices are high pace and that's just kind of how we play.
Like, you know, you practice during that the whole season.
And then when the games come, you're used to it.
And the group there was, you know, pretty tight.
Like I was going up for dinner with different guys each night.
And, yeah, it was just an easy group to be a part of.
And, yeah, I'm excited for, you know, my first full year there with them.
Yeah, it's going to be sick.
So good.
So good.
So I look this up because I think when someone gets traded, obviously there's at least some deep, dark thoughts.
If you're like, fuck, like I didn't want to be the expendable one or whatever, right?
like these things go through your mind.
But I was looking this up because, again, this was a massive trade with a big name.
So here's the Jumbo Joe trade.
Like this is salary cap era mega stars getting traded.
Sharks acquired Jumbo Joe from Boston in exchange for Brad Stewart, Wayne Primo, and Marco
Sturm.
Now B's head coach.
How are you?
Eichael trade, another big one.
Golden Knights acquire Eichel and a 2023 third round pick from the Sabres in exchange for Alex
Tuck, Peyton Krebs, and a top 10 protected 22 first round pick and a 2023.
second round pick. And then your deal, obviously, for you, a 2026 first, 2026 third,
2027 third, 2028 third. And I go, dude, if I'm ranking the comeback in all-time huge megastar
trades, I think you might be the number one return, dude, because this is going to be a tribute
question. So I'm like, I think, dude, that people will look back and go, you know what,
of all these teams that traded away megastars, the B's like, oh, my God, the B, we still talk about
that. The bees got fleeced on Jumpo Joe.
I'm massive. And I'm like, dude, now it's
no longer, oh, I'm the expendable one. It's
now a compliment that they're like, that's what they
wanted back. It was you, dude. And I think that
that's pretty sick. That's going to be a good feeling.
Yeah, it is. It was definitely a confidence
booster and
you know, the GM and
obviously Rod right away.
They told me that's what they wanted
and they got me back in the
trade. So that was nice to
hear because obviously it's a
hard time to go through. Like, you don't expect
to get traded and I was kind of blindsided by it, didn't see it coming. So it was nice to feel
wanted and yeah, I think, you know, I'm just getting started and yeah, I'm excited to keep
growing as a player and keep improving. And the good vibes just keep on going, man, because obviously
you sign your great extension with the team, 48 mil, how are you? Eight years, you're with them
for a long time. They've got unbelievable contracts flowing left and right, Eelers comes over,
Kandre comes over.
How exciting is it right now being one of the young core of this team that's like constantly in the mix, constantly battling.
We had a ton of fun with you guys, these playoffs, you know, proven people wrong, having some huge wins, upsets, things like that.
And just, you know, like we've talked about it, we've brushed by it, but, you know, you play it in camloops, going to the draft, not going in the first round, dealing with that adversity.
then you're in the AHL buzzing, but you want to get the call up.
And then now here you are, you sign a massive extension.
You have that confidence boost in the trade, like you said.
How good does it feel being like, all right, I'm in this new place.
It could have been scary.
You're on the East Coast for the first time.
But now you sign this big deal.
You're here for the long time.
You're looking around that room.
You've got a ton of young guys who are also signing extensions.
You're going to be together for a while.
Are you fucking fired up right now?
Yeah.
No, there's a lot to look forward to, like, hockey is such a,
hard road and to make it to the NHL is so hard. So like you said, getting that deal done, it's a great
feeling for my family and I. And now I can just, you know, look ahead to playing hockey and, you know,
getting better as a player and, you know, hopefully lots of winning to look forward to, like you said,
we have a great, great core and some guys signed for a while now. So, yeah, hopefully Carolina can be
a destination of choice for other players,
and we can just keep building,
and the Stanley Cup is the goal someday.
So now it's just all focused on that.
Like, you already had a, not just you,
but the whole team had a great summer,
bringing in a new body,
you know, it already starts to feel like a destination,
which I think is so awesome.
Did you get a sense at all?
Because obviously you were there briefly,
but you had the playoff run.
There's this,
stigma's the wrong word,
but there's a narrative, right,
about the canes where we were joking
with Jarvie all playoffs where it's like boring hockey, boring hockey. But he was like, he kept
texting back like, boring hockey wins boys. I was like, damn right. But, you know, is there,
obviously that's just outside bullshit, outside noise for you guys, right? Like, what, what do you guys
feel like you're building there? Because obviously I know your prod's not sitting in the meeting being
like, we're the most boring team in the league. You know, like, what are you guys constructing in there
that's making you competitive? Yeah, it's funny because like, though for me being a player, like,
I don't feel like it's boring at all. I think we have a great.
system. It's a lot of fun to play. You know, our system is kind of set where it's pressure all over
the ice and when we don't have the puck and then when we do, we can be creative and, you know,
Rod kind of lets us have that leeway. So I have a lot of fun playing within the system.
Yeah, it's great. So I'm just going to keep learning and, yeah, hopefully have some more success.
Can you talk about that real quick, just about what that adjustment was for you?
change to that kind of man-on-man thing for the first time because it does seem to suit you so well.
You know, it must have been sick. They were like, just go get it, go get everybody. And you were like,
okay, I have a motor. I can do that. Yeah, what was that change like? Yeah, it was a bit, there was
a few, like, just tweaks, like, from Dallas to Carolina, like, just, you know, on the back check
or in-zone a bit. Like, Carolina's very man-on-man, like, the whole time. And even, like, as soon as we
don't have the puck, it's basically man-on-man. We're in-zoned-zone. It was kind of man-on-man.
on man but um you know other than that it was just kind of you know go and play and then once we're
in our own zone then it was more man on man but there's just a few few little tweaks and um few things
where you know you're used to doing that in Dallas and then you come to Carolina and still have
some of those habits so you just got to kind of wash those habits away and start fresh yeah i am
curious have you figured out what you're going to buy stall to take 11 from them
I'm happy with 22, so I know that, honestly, I won't be surprised if that 11's retired there soon.
So, he's a legend.
Yeah, I was like, well, you know, it'll open up soon.
And then Dan was like, he's going to get retired.
And I was like, oh, yeah, fuck.
Was there the simple thought process?
Was 22 just double it up?
Was that why you went with 2-2?
Yeah, it was, like, as soon as I was on the phone with the trainer there, he just said, yeah,
obviously 11's taken.
So he offered me like a few different numbers, but then he was like, oh, 22 is just like double
11. I was like, that's perfect. I'll take it.
Like, I wasn't, at that point, I wasn't thinking
too much. Like, I was already nervous enough
being traded and getting to the new team
and whatnot. So I was like, yeah, I'll take it.
And I actually, I actually liked that number
a lot, so I'll probably just take it. Are you,
are you weird? Because you, what was
11? You were 11 for your dad or your
grandpa or something like that?
It was my cousin.
Cousin, okay, yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, he played a bit of junior
A hockey out here and then some
college hockey as well. So, I grew up
watching him and I just, yeah, he wore
11 so I wore.
Yeah.
But are you, is that like any crazy superstition you have or was it just simple, you stick
with the family?
Like wearing 11?
Or like even just numbers in general.
Like I know some guys are crazy about what number they wear.
Oh, no.
No, I don't know.
I just liked 11.
I wore it like all through minor hockey and, yeah.
Yeah, like Major Midget and juniors.
So that was just kind of the automatic number.
Yeah, it's clean.
Makes sense.
Yeah.
I like it.
He's like,
he's like, Stoll,
I just actually signed a new deal
and I can buy this number.
You've had it for a while.
Like, come on.
I'm going to be here forever.
That's so sick.
Okay, Stanker, we want to play,
we'll play a game with you before you take off.
Yeah.
We play with everybody, okay?
So it's called pass shoot score,
and we give you three things inside of a category,
three things that we know that you like,
and then you have to rank them,
pass, shoot, and score.
Pass is your least favorite
because passing the puck
fine, but it's not that cool.
Shooting is your second favorite because we love getting
on net and scoring is your favorite because that's
the ultimate goal. Okay.
Your first category is food,
pass shoot score,
Baja shrimp tacos,
sushi,
or a nice Italian pizza.
Ooh, that's tough.
Yeah, buddy.
Those are like some of my favorites.
I'd probably have to say
pass would be
the Baja shrimp or Baja fish tacos.
Baja shrimp, yeah, yeah.
Baja shrimp tacos.
And then I'd probably say sushi as shoot.
And then I love a good pizza.
God.
This has got to be a score.
That breaks my heart.
I'm a huge shrimp guy.
Dan's the biggest shrimp guy, I know.
It's hard.
Those could be like 1A, B, and C.
Yeah.
So, yeah, that's fair.
That's fair.
What's the pizza order?
I like hot honey pepperoni.
Fucking let's go.
Thanks.
That is a fantastic.
Fantastic.
It's the best one.
What do they call it?
A bee sting.
A bee sting.
That's what they call that pizza out here.
It's awesome, dude.
I love it.
And are you partial to, like, Neapolitan style, like the smaller ones?
Or do you want, like, a big New York slice of pizza?
I usually like a big slice for sure.
That of boy.
But I think, like, like, the flat bread pizzas too.
Yeah.
What do they call it, the oven, oven pizzas or brick oven pizzas?
Like brick oven.
Yeah.
Nice.
Fantastic.
Yeah.
Stanker, can we get the recipe to the,
Panet Alfredo shrimp dish
you got you you're
that's your specialty. It's so basic
it's so basic. It's literally
just throw the past in
like in the water like obviously
you boil it and whatnot and it's
it's all storebought like it's not
homemade stuff so yeah it's just jars
it's like pouring the alfredo sauce in dude
you idiot cook the shrimp
it doesn't matter it's great that's fantastic
yeah throw some nice seasonings on
on the shrimp tail off but
But yeah.
Okay.
It's the boys like it.
I've had the, when I was in Dallas, I had a few of the boys over because we lived in the same complex.
And a few of the boys would come over and we'd take turns making dinner.
So that was my go to.
That was yours every time.
Yeah, that's really good.
It's good to have that one in the arsenal.
Boys are like, what the fuck?
And then, yeah.
And then quick guilty pleasure question.
Is a chick filet sauce any harder to find in Raleigh than it was for you in Dallas?
No, no, it's just as easy.
I actually, it's funny you say that because during the, uh, during the, uh,
During the Four Nations break, I came home to see my family and I bought two bottles and stuffed it in my luggage.
So when I came home, I left it here.
When I came back for the summer, I could have chick-fil-a sauce.
So you've been set up all summer.
That's so smart.
Yeah.
Are you putting that on everything or is it like specifically?
You can throw it on potatoes, chicken.
Yeah, it's lights out.
It's special.
It is.
It is.
So, so good.
All right, your next pass sheet score is going to be Stranger Things characters.
So pass shoot score.
Hopper, Steve Harrington, Dustin.
Ooh.
Okay.
I'm going to say Dustin as my pass.
I'm going to say Hopper as my shoot and Steve Harrington is my score.
Yes.
He's such a beauty.
I love Steve.
Steve Harrington's the man.
Yeah.
Dude, are you still loving the show?
Like, are you dialed for November on the finale?
Honestly, I haven't watched it in a while, so I might have to watch the last few episodes get a refresh so that I'm ready to go.
I'm excited.
I can't wait.
They got some YouTube videos that can refresh us.
Show's fantastic.
Stanker, in the first season, this true story, Steve was supposed to be like the bad guy and was going to end that way.
But the audiences liked him so much, they had to rewrite the whole character and be like, actually, he's the man.
Yeah, he's changed a lot, and I liked him.
Yeah, I didn't like him so much at the same.
start but then yeah he's he's evolved and he's a good dude now 100% a CP has a gripe with that show he
just like he I I want him to love it yeah and every time he watches it he's like I just don't get
why they stay in Hawkins Indiana dude like bad shit is going on that town just leave every year
there's an alien attack dude and I'm like oh move yeah for sure so good so good you are an outer
bank sky too do we read that right yes yeah yeah which one you like
The two main shows.
I'd probably say stranger things.
But I just wish they'd, like, more often they'd come up with seasons and episodes because
it's been a long gap.
It's so long, dude.
I forget everything.
It's such a long gap.
I die laughing now.
Like, you look at Millie Bobby Brown shows up online and she's like 30 now.
Yeah.
What the hell is happening?
Like, this is not going to work, folks.
You're a little kid.
Are you watching anything else now since none of those are on or you just, you're all hockey already?
I watched.
I think it was called Untamed.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I watched that.
That was interesting.
Definitely not like one of my favorites, but it was good.
It was solid for sure.
That's great.
That's great.
Yeah.
Okay.
Now, Stanker, we're going to music.
Okay.
Pass shoot score.
A. CDC, Drake, or David Geta?
Ah.
I'm going to have to say ACDC as my pass.
I'm going to go
Drake as my shoot
and then David Gettas is my score
Yeah
You talk about eclectic taste
Dude I tried to get every genre
Because he likes it all
Yeah it's impressive
Is David Gettah your pregame
Like what do you listen to before you skate
Well all three of those genres I listen to
But usually like memories by David Gettett
That's probably one of my favorites
Such a jam
Oh my God
Yeah
There's so many
I could name, but how many, how many years do you think till they let you become locker
room DJ in Carolina?
I don't know.
I'm not, I don't know if I want to be like the DJ because like I like to just kind of
do my own thing.
I don't want to have to like go on my phone during like warmups or whatnot and like do
up songs.
I guess you could just like make a big playlist, but we usually just let the trainers
take care of that because I like to just have my own routine and stuff.
Yeah.
So you're rocking headphones.
Like you're in your own world.
just blasting your...
No, I just listen to whatever the boys have going on.
But during the summers, during the summers,
I like to play my own tunes like N-R.
During the summer, it's just memory on repeat,
memories on repeat in the car.
Yeah, exactly.
You know what, Sanker?
It's funny, looking that up,
you are one of the first Western Canadian kids
that isn't a huge country fan.
Like every time we get a Western Canadian kid,
they just love country so much.
And you like every genre accept that, it sounds like.
No, I don't mind country.
Okay.
I've obviously had to get used to it being in Dallas.
Oh, true.
And Raleigh, Christ.
Well, you know what's funny, not to switch off of music.
I was actually about to ask, we talked about food earlier.
Are you getting dialed into southern food at all?
I mean, you've been in Texas.
Now you're in the Carolinas.
It's like, it's all around you.
Honestly, not a whole lot yet.
Not in Carolina.
Like, I haven't tried the barbecue.
I've tried barbecue in Dallas, and that was lights out.
Yeah.
Like their barbecue down there is.
elite. I love their tax max. It was so good. Yeah. Dude, you're going to take them to cookout. I was going to say, and there's
some spot. I tried cookout. Cookout's pretty gas. I had, I think I had a hot dog from there or something.
You definitely did. And a burger. I think I had, it was like one, one of our off days or something. I just
went there and tried it. Dude, the tray. The tray comes with like a thousand things for five bucks.
The first time I went to cook out, I think I got 12 pounds of food and it cost $3.50. And I was like, what the hell is
happening here. It's unbelievable. It's amazing. I'll have to send you some spots tanker. I was in Durham
for a couple years. Perfect. Yeah, yeah. I'll take any recommendations. We'll get your barbecue dialed in.
For sure. All right, man, man, man, the last thing we're going to do with you, and then we'll let you get
out of here. It's this thing we call Career Haddy. It's basically your three favorite goals of your
career. And you can take a second to think of them. But when you know them, let us know. Any level, too,
doesn't have to be just pro. Can be Camloops, can be Dallas, can be Carolina. World Juniors, whatever.
Ooh, that's a good question.
One of them would be, there's a Canloup's Banham hockey tournament.
It's called Kibbitt.
It was like a big, it used to be a big tournament back in the day.
It's not quite as well known these days, but we went to double overtime in the finals against Sherwood Park.
And I ended up scoring, I think it was like my third or fourth goal of the game.
And there's a clip of it online, but I,
I kind of split the defense and I like went top shelf with it, but it hit the water bottle so hard that the water bottle went over the glass.
Are you kidding me?
And dude, you're right.
Because I saw this game.
I read about this game.
It was your fourth.
Like it was your double once you went a fourth goal with the game.
Imagine getting a fourth on this poor goalie and popping his bottle into the stance.
Kid probably hung himself.
I usually don't like talking about like my own goals, but it was one of those things where it was like so weird.
Like I don't understand how that happened.
But I'm pretty sure it went over.
It went so high that I think it went over the glass.
Incredible.
Yeah.
That's fantastic.
I don't know.
I've got a few other ones, some good junior ones.
But if I had to pick one,
that'd probably be the one that I look back on the most.
That's the ace.
What was your first NHO goal?
That was against the Islanders at home.
I was on my birthday.
Oh, okay.
So that's on the list.
First birthday?
Yeah.
I mean, that's definitely one of them.
Yeah.
I didn't even know it went in, though, at first.
I didn't realize if you go back and look like I didn't realize it went in until like everyone cheered.
And then I put my hands up in the air and like I was like almost shocked that it went in because I couldn't see it from the angle that I shot it from.
Yeah.
Yeah, that was special.
My family was there for that.
Amazing.
And then give me one from World Juniors, one of those two World Junior Golds.
I'd probably say the one against the States in Halifax.
Yeah, Semis, eh?
Stemies.
Yeah.
or the one during the summertime.
I think we played the checks in the semis as well.
And I think I'd a,
I think Kent Johnson made a nice play to me in the middle
and I came down and just snapped it.
I think it was low glove.
So that was a cool one too.
Yeah, not a bad assist on the game winner in overtime either.
Pretty decent.
That was awesome.
Dude, did you guys know,
do you guys think that was going in
when McTavish whacked it off the line?
Yeah, we all thought it went in.
The more, I keep seeing, like, highlights of it.
Like, I think, like, the other day, it was just like the, it was like the two-year, like, flashback or whatever it was.
And, yeah, that was insane.
Craziest thing I've ever seen.
It's, like, how we managed to do that.
Nuts.
Absolutely nuts.
So crazy.
Not a bad shift.
Back-to-back gold.
Yeah.
God.
Well, my man, this was fantastic.
Thank you so much for popping on with us.
We'll let you get ripping back to your day.
But before we let you jump, is there anything you want to plug, anything you want to shout out?
No, I just, yeah, thanks again for having me on. It was a lot of fun.
Absolutely, man.
Anytime, buddy.
Hey, get back to the pool.
Yeah, yeah, sounds good, I will.
Stanks with an S, thank you, my man.
I like the rebrand.
Awesome interview, awesome rebrand.
Like you said at the top, couldn't be more excited.
Care for Carolina and their summer.
He's going to sign another contract.
He's going to sign that whole contract and then sign another contract.
Another eight year probably.
What a world.
And he's going to score a million goals.
What a world.
So, I'm excited for him.
I'm really excited to watch him.
22 is going to go to the rafters.
Hell yeah. Isn't that sick? You thought we were going to be 11.
Now, it was going to be right next to him.
11 in the rafters, 22 in the raft.
Wow, that's actually chills.
So dope. That's crazy.
Okay, well, let's take an ad break and we'll come back.
As you know by now, we have teamed up with BetMGM
because they are the best sports book in the entire world.
It's not even close.
And I know what you're thinking?
It's not the NHL season.
So what do you do?
Give me a break.
BetMGM has action on everything.
What's that?
Oh, yeah.
I hear the Premier League.
I hear the Bundesliga.
I hear La Liga.
I hear League en.

Okay, we're back.
And I have a sad story, Dan, but I really like doing these on the pod because it means a lot to the people involved.
Okay, I love it.
And I'm going to actually read something.
because this was sent into us and I'm just and I actually thought reading it I was going to try to
give you a summary of it but it's actually so wonderfully written that I just want to read it.
Okay, hit me.
Dear Dan and Chris, I wanted to reach out to share the story of my friend and former teammate,
Colden Kimber and to ask if you might consider honoring him on empty netters.
Colden was a remarkable athlete and a rare talent in ice hockey.
He was an outstanding goalie with incredible athleticism, quick reflexes and a calm presence
that inspired confidence in everyone around him.
What made him even more unique was that he could also step out as a forward and dominate.
Fast, strong, and relentless, with a natural scoring touch.
Love that, dude.
Unbelievable.
It's not often you find a player who excelled at both ends of the ice and Colden was exactly that kind of player.
Versatile, fearless, and electrifying to watch.
Beyond the rink, Coldon was deeply dedicated to growth and performance.
He studied kinesiology at San Francisco State University, and he had a real passion for cycling,
not only riding, but also working as a bike mechanic.
He poured the same energy into bikes and fitness as he did into hockey, always treating his body like a living laboratory in pursuit of better performance.
Tragically, on July 26, 2025, Colden was fatally stabbed while courageously intervening to protect a mother and her children on a muni platform in San Francisco.
His final act of selflessness was a reflection of who he was, someone who never hesitated to step in and protect others.
His loss has devastated his family, friends, teammates, and community.
There will be a memorial bike ride in his honor on September 7th at the polo fields in the Golden Gate Park
and a GoFundMe campaign has been established to support his family during this difficult time.
We'll put the link in the description of this YouTube.
If you'd be willing to share a Golden Story on your show, it would mean so much to those of us who knew him.
Highlighting not just his incredible skill as a hockey player, but also his dedication to education, fitness, and cycling
would be a powerful way to honor his memory and bring comfort to his family.
Thank you sincerely for considering this.
sincerely the Oakland ice hockey squad unbelievable so tragic and in a weird way Dan I
obviously hate the result of what has happened to him but so inspiring what he did the courage
he showed in the moment that ended up taking his life it's remarkable what a testament to his
character we've said a million times this community can be so powerful and amazing so often
And I'm so glad that this story of Colden has got to us and now has gotten to our fans and our listeners.
And it would mean everything for people to donate to the GoFundMe.
If you're in that area, go to the bike ride just to watch even.
But, you know, our hearts and thoughts always go out to his family, friends and everything.
It's devastating.
But makes sense that a person that incredible has incredible things come from his past.
Absolutely.
Honor them in the right way. If you're in the area, go to the bike ride. Incredibly cool. And as you said, thoughts and prayers with the family.
100%. It's crushing. I don't even know how we move on from something like that. But I think he would appreciate that the hockey show continues. We go into full-on goof squad. Hockey show continues. Do you want to do some hot takes with me briefly or do you want to just get into it? So I mentioned this to you.
Yeah. I were getting, listen, it's it's September. We're still over a month away from the season.
We've had some comments and DMs, like, listen, we're pumping out content.
You're fucking welcome.
And it's tough.
The hockey world.
The hockey world is just sitting and twiddling their thumbs, getting into college football, which I get.
But it's got me thinking, I wonder how many people, I want to get people.
I want to catch you in my web.
I want to be Shilop for a second.
And here, what I want to do.
is not do real hot takes. I want to see how many frauds. Oh yeah, you did say this. Get on there on
Instagram and TikTok with your with your little tough thumbs. Talk all this shit but you don't
listen to the pod. Yeah. And I want to see if we, the network, all the fans can fucking get people.
Okay. And I want to say right here on the pod, these are not real. Yep. These are not real takes.
So let's come up with some crazy takes that I just want to do one that would fire up the warriors.
right, let's come up with a take.
Probably that.
I'm thinking, I would love, leave the Oilers alone.
I'd love an Olympic roster take.
Oh, okay, good, yeah.
We could go.
Starting center for Team USA.
Or Canada, maybe.
Who would you want to get more mad,
the American fans or the Canadian fans?
Well, here's the thing.
What I don't want to do is go like this.
Blank player is the starting center.
Yeah.
Because that is insulting a player.
Oh, right.
what I want to do is go
USA won't
Austin Matthews should legitimately
not be on team USA
something like that because we so obviously
don't believe that. Yeah yeah right
okay it's reversed
yep
um
yeah what if we said we're not sure
if he'll make it
instead of
because even if this is a joke
I don't want to even say it out my mouth
because I like him so much
this is so great
we love Austin
yeah he's one of my favorite players in the league
So we go like this.
Here's the narrative, ready?
Yeah.
All right, listeners, here we go.
This is obviously not real.
This is for a click.
You're in on the joke.
This is for clicks.
We're going to see how many donkeys in the comment section we get for not listening to the pod.
Shame on you.
So the take is, I think there's a legitimate chance that Austin Matthews doesn't make Team USA.
And what's great is he's literally already been announced.
That's how good this is good.
Oh, yeah.
That's how good this is going to be.
He was ranked seventh best center in the NHL by NHL Network.
People are starting to see.
Sorry, I got to stay serious.
People are starting to see.
He's maybe not as good as everyone thought.
Do you one.
I'm looking at the Olympic orientation camp at the forwards listed debt.
And the amount of talent here, it's not as automatic as people think.
This is a competitive, competitive bunch, especially down the middle, especially down the middle.
Look at his goal drop off.
Almost 70 goals a couple seasons ago.
Last year didn't even sniff that.
I'm sorry.
I got to stay serious.
Last year didn't even sniff that.
Talk about the fact that he captained Team USA at Four Nations and they lost.
He was captain at Four Nations.
And some people weren't as happy about that.
We didn't win gold there and maybe they want to change.
They were seeing the Kachuk brothers run all around.
You know, just these are factors.
These are factors.
He's the captain.
What's the result of four nations?
L.
L. L.
L.
Loss. First loser.
That's good.
That's enough.
That's fantastic.
And here's what we'll do.
We'll put at the end of this club.
We'll go like this.
And if you've made it this far, you know that all this is bullshit.
And if you've already commented something negative, you got, got.
Yeah.
Yeah, because we're going to have to clip that now, too.
Okay.
Next up, Dan?
Uh-oh.
CP's digging something out of his best.
No.
I'm done.
Dext update?
Y'all crazy.
I'm done.
Next up, dad.
Is this a different book?
No, it's just an update on puck.
It's a puck.
The return of pucked.
Y'all are crazy, dude.
I can't believe we're doing this again.
I can't believe we're doing this again.
Let me plot you first, okay?
Do you remember where you left off?
I do.
Violet had just banged Alex Waters.
Yeah, yeah.
She's about to fuck her brother, too.
Can we do a quick?
Two things.
Two things, okay?
Number one, if you have kids,
kids in the car.
Yes.
Fast forward.
Yes.
Fast forward.
Fast forward.
Fast forward.
Number two.
You're going to make my brain bleed.
We got to pick up the pace in these in these summaries.
If you are in public and you aren't wearing compression shorts, fast forward because you're about
to get bricked.
Or get a resistance band because you're about to get chubbed up.
Okay.
Go find a bathtub.
So plot wise, Dan, here's where we're at.
she,
she bangs him, okay?
Violet, yep.
Then,
bangs him again.
Same night,
bangs him again.
Then he's like,
this guy is fuck hot.
She thought,
she thought he was kicking her out
and he's like,
no,
I'm not kicking you out.
Like I was getting you a key,
remember she like,
lost her key card.
Yeah, that's right.
Get to the key card.
And she's like,
please sleep over.
He sets an alarm for her to wake up.
Yeah.
through plot, but this is important. I get to the
second chapter of my new run.
I legitimately cannot believe
that you are reading this book. Dude,
every chapter... You're reading...
For people who are not watching the YouTube, first of all,
go to the YouTube and subscribe.
Chris is like, there are notes
in this book. He's reading the book
and noting it. So did. Every
chapter has said... This is why I should have seen it
coming, but every chapter has said her name under it.
I was like, whatever. I get chapter five, and we're
in a multi-POV book.
You're fucking shitting me.
We've got a George R. Martin tactic going on.
Is this Game of Thrones?
Unbelievable.
More like Game of Bones, dude.
More like Game of Bones, dude.
This is fucking, we're in a multi-P-OV game of bones.
This is insane.
Dude. So Alex makes up and he's like, oh, fuck.
Was that a dream?
Was that a soft titty's a dream?
Is he buckled?
Yeah, he's like 6 a.m.?
Why did you just say soft titty?
Did you just jump ahead?
He says she has soft tities?
Did he say tities?
Yeah.
Don't, if you show me a page where Alex's dialogue says soft titties, I will lose my fucking mind.
Dude, this is the, I wasn't even going to read this live, but this is his, this is the first line of the multi-POV game of bones.
We are now in the mind of Alex's waterhouse, waters.
And he says, he says, there's alarms going off, I presume.
The most annoying sound in the world permeates my sleep.
It will not stop.
I want to kick its ass for interrupting my dream that includes soft full pits I can use as a pillow.
Dude.
The fact?
Hold on.
What is our author's name here?
What's your name again?
Elena hunting.
Elena hunting.
Helena hunting.
I love it.
Love it when you get a piece of writing like this where we have a woman trying to speak as a man or vice versa.
And she thinks that Alex Waters is in the same thought saying permeates my sleep and then a pair of soft titties I can use as a pillow.
dude who is this guy so he he wakes up he's kind of like he's where is she he calls or he leaves
her a bunch of messages and she's not answering because she's kind of like what did i do yeah then
dude she gets home and looks him up online and apparently there are pictures all over the internet
of him banging or like making out with chicks not like banging he's a porn star he's like oh he's a
fucking player i knew it who does he play for again uh the hawks it's the chicago chicago yeah so then um
fucking she uh she pictures of her and him making out because they made out at the bar
hit the internet and her co-workers are like dudes are like sick and you know her friends freaking
out all this shit so then he that finally gets in hold of her and he's like hey i'm you know we're on
a road trip i'm coming back to chicago i want to see you yeah and then he has a full like week dan
of um you know in in there's a better example of this oh better example wolf of wall street when
she gets to her apartment
and there's flowers everywhere.
Yes.
This guy is doing like that every day.
Every day a new gift.
It's the 12 days of Dix Smith, dude.
Every day is a new gift.
For her.
Yeah.
It loves via.
It is a new gift.
And she's like so overwhelmed.
He gets back to Chicago and
she's like, oh, I'm going to see them.
Her brother, her stepbrother,
Buck, he kind of gives Alex
a really hard time because of the pictures.
And he saw that kiss, but he's like, you know,
you stay away from my sister.
And even the coach is like,
hey, Alex's the cat.
Captain. And the coach is like, dude, you can't be fucking Buck's sister. And he's like, well, you know. Or Buck,
don't be fucking with our captain. Yeah, right. And Buck's a new guy. He just got traded this.
Let him fuck. Shut up, dude. So Alex is like, yeah, maybe I fuck that up. They go, um, Buck, like,
they live together, you know, so, or like, Buck goes to the parents house when he's home. So, like, he shows up.
And he meant Buck and Alex. I was like, no. So he shows up and he's like, hey, what's up,
pilot? Like, they're hanging out, playing video games or whatever. And Buck's on the phone with the
boys because they're home and he's like oh i got a bunch of puck buddies lined up yeah and then buck leaves
Alex comes over and they're about to bang again and then buck forgot his wallet dan he forgot his wallet
comes back to the parents house comes back why is buck an NHL player at his parents house so couldn't tell
you helena yeah you didn't think that one through so it comes back to the pool house she's in the
pool house remember comes back to the pool house Alex is there yeah and he goes what are you what are you
doing here and Alex actually pulls a departed where he's like I just got the call you know I i i thought
I had to pick you up and I came here.
Good lie.
I wasn't just here.
Good lie.
And Buck's like, okay.
He's like, I had no service, dude.
I just got the call on that.
You know, it just came to.
I'm here picking you up.
And Buck's like, oh, okay, well, come on.
And he's like, we got a bunch of bunnies lined up.
They're bringing friends.
And Alex's like, hell yeah, bro.
You love them when they're wild.
Because he's just trying to fit in.
Are you paraphrasing?
No.
And then fucking Violet hears that.
And she's fuming.
Yeah.
And I'm like, what do you mean?
He's just, he's covering.
He's playing cover.
Dude. Violet fucking freaks.
In front of Buck?
No, no. But she's like,
Pish. She's like, I'll never speak to Alex again.
He's fucking like, what happened?
They ended up going to a dinner with like the team.
Oh, it was after the game.
Like the next night they have a game.
They go out. She's out after.
She sits next to him.
And one of the boys, who's, whose name is Kirk, he's 32.
And they're like, he's the oldest vet on the team.
He's probably only got a year left.
And I'm like, he's 32, dude.
Relax.
I still got it.
I'm in great shape.
So he goes, he's like talking about water.
in front of Violet and Waters.
And he's like,
ever heard of the Waters hat trick
where apparently,
like he banged three chicks
in one night?
Oh.
And Violet is like,
disgusting.
You disgust me.
You're a pervert.
She storms out.
Waters follows her,
like grabs her wrist at the bar.
Buck sees that.
And he's like,
what the fuck is going on?
They're like,
nothing.
It's chaos.
Then Alex is literally like stalking her, dude.
And it got to a way
that I was like,
this is uncomfortable.
And then he keeps aiming at it
being like,
I'm kind of stalking her.
This turned into you?
Yeah, I'm like,
this is a scary.
doing, dude.
This is insane.
Leave her alone.
Yeah.
But he just won't stop because he's trying to explain.
And it turns out, according to him, on the night of his, so he used to figure skate when he was a kid.
Is this, is this cutting edge?
Is this a prequel to cutting edge?
Great movie, by the way.
What the hell?
Dude, he used to figure skate.
Shout out, um.
Doug Dorsey.
No, no.
Shout out, uh, fucking, what's his name?
Kainer on your Exeter team.
Was that his name?
Crane.
Craneer.
Yeah.
Figure skated.
He was a figure skater as a young kid.
So he, and this Alex Watters is like, dude, people, a lot of hockey players figure
figure skate, but for a year or two to work on their edges.
True.
And he's like, I did it for a long time and I was actually kind of in between what I was going to do,
like become an Olympic figure skater or a pro hockey player.
So Alex, Alex Waters is a sensitive boy.
Yes, dude.
And he's well read.
That's why he says things like Permian.
When he gets, when he chooses hockey, the boys making fun of him too much for being a figure skating
bitch.
So then he had, he signs his rookie deal, throws a huge party.
And the press thought he banged three girls, even though he was like, I literally banged one girl.
One girl was my sister who I was carrying into the house because she was too drunk.
This is Game of Thrones.
There's so much sibling fucking in this book.
So he's like, they were freaking out.
And then the news was like, oh, the Alex Waters hat trick.
And my agent was like, just let that ride because you're like, I'd rather you be the playboy.
Than a bitch boy.
Than a bitch boy, dude.
Than a figure skating pussy.
Yeah.
So he's like, it never, you know, I didn't do that.
That wasn't me.
That's not me.
Yeah.
And then he's like, please.
Like he literally goes to her.
office breaks in, locks her in a conference room, and is like, I won't let you leave until you go to
coffee with me.
It's romantic, dude.
Romantic is fuck, dude.
So then they go to a coffee, and then he tells her all that, and she's like, I think I believe
you.
And he's like, um, he's like, okay, this is going to be great where we'll, we'll go out
on a date.
He's going to take her on a real date.
Sure.
I think that's where I am.
He's going to take her on a real date.
Oh yeah, he asks, he asks her boobs out.
He's like, I'd like to take your boobs out.
He does not.
Yeah.
Helena can't figure out this guy's vibe.
Yeah.
Well, dude, he's a little all over the place. He's a little all over the place. Okay, so you're good on plot. Yeah. We're not done? No, that's plot. I'm just, I've got to give you the highlights. Okay. So the game of bones reveal was tremendous. Okay. This is early. Alex is freaking out about his reputation. Sure. If Violet finds out about my reputation, assuming she hasn't already, she may very well never want to speak with me again, no matter how many orgasms I fucked out of her last night. Oh my God. This is fucking awful. You,
You, ladies, you're perverted.
You're perverted.
This is crazy.
And the amount of DMs we got at people being like,
I can't believe this crossover, my world's colliding.
How dare you have this be one of your world?
This is insanity.
Okay, this is when the coach is pissed at him.
He's like, hey, you can't be fucking Buck's sister.
Yeah.
Shows him the picture.
He goes, hey, hey, waters.
Hey, hey, cat.
These picks got out.
And then he's like, well, coach, whatever.
And the coach goes,
what if one of those dipshits did this with your sister?
Fair. Water goes like this.
This is internal.
Coach makes a good point.
If anyone touched Sunny, crazy sister name.
Coach makes a good point. If anyone touched Sunny,
I'd rip his dick off and shove it down his throat with a ball sack chaser.

I might take that one.
Honestly, I want to hate it.
It's kind of a sick trip.
I might take that one, dude.
Oh, this one actually, that was funny.
He was stalking her IG.
And he goes, I'm looking up Helena Hunting right now.
He goes, he goes, my invasion of privacy is shameful.
Everything I've done in the past 24 hours is reprehensible on so many
levels. I'm disappointed in myself, but I'll probably whack off to the pictures when I'm alone anyway.
I was like, you know what? That's a pretty good. That's pretty fair for Alex. Hey, I'm looking at,
I'm looking at Atlanta hunting right now. Did she a vibe, dude? Just getting in her head.
Yeah, because it's important. That's important to appreciate the gift that is this performance, dude.
Chris is crying again, just so people know. There's a couple more good ones. Do you love? Do you love? Do you love?
this book? Yeah, it's the best book I've ever read.
I can't.
Oh, this was actually another pretty good one. He's really bummed because she's pissed at him.
He goes, I throw the car into gear, I rev the engines, I pull away. All I want is to talk to
Violet. I also maybe want to see her boobs again and have sex with her. I was like, you know what,
dude? Stop. Stop being like, I relate to this guy.
Helena, you got to figure out this dude's voice. Is he a piece of shit or is he a softie?
Okay, here's one.
This is back to a violet chapter.
The chapters are hilarious, by the way.
Chapter 9, I still don't know what I'm doing.
It's always like that.
That was just Helena's words, by the way.
She's, like, pissed that she looks good.
And she goes, I want, in a very desperate way,
to believe he's not a fuckhead, asshole, ultra fuck boy.
They fuckhead asshole, ultra fuck boy.
They're all hyphenated Dan, too.
It's a one thought.
just a full on Tourette's insult
Fuckhead asshole shitbag
Fuck stick
Fuck you
She's the price world guy
Yeah he's literally the price world rep for mystery Alaska
Price world guy dude
Okay yeah
He they're like
Now they're having coffee
And they're like sharing cake
Yeah yeah
She goes
He's offering her a bite
I don't think it means
For it to sound suggestive
He bites his lip as I dig my fork into the cake
And pass it to him
Instead of taking it from me
He clutches my hand
And raises the fork to his mouth
His lips part and close over the tines.
Good Lord, I want to fuck his mouth with my tongue again.
Oh, Jesus Christ.
Helena has either literally never had sex in her life
or is the biggest sexual deviant who's ever lived.
And this is the only thing that goes through her mind at all times.
Also, if you think that you're getting photos snapped at the bar of kissing
and mouth-fucking each other with cake isn't getting photographed in broad daylight at a cafe.
Dude, someone comes up to a...
Dan, like college kids come up to him at that coffee shop because he's Alex fucking Waters dude.
So that you're so right.
Like this is going to happen to.
Buck's going to see this.
I think that's all I had from this.
That's, hey, Chris, that was more than enough.
Pucked.
We're about a, we're about a tenth of the way through.
Ultra fuck asshole, dickhead, bitch boy.
I was like, dude.
Truly mind-blowing.
So that was our weekly pucked update for you all.
Yeah, there we go, dude.
And the hockey smut.
continues. We're going to take a quick ad break and try to get this show back on the rails.
Taking a quick break to talk to you guys about state and liberty. State and liberty is the greatest

No more of those issues because State and Liberty makes you feel like a performance athlete
at the highest level while you are looking at the highest level as well. It's truly remarkable.
I had one of these puppies on during my birthday the other day. Every single person I hug,
this beautiful shirt, this short sleeve button down, they were going, that is the softest thing
I have ever felt and it fits you like a glove. That's exactly what State and Liberty does. Whether
you're on the golf course, whether you're headed to a wedding, it's still wedding season. We got the fall

affordable,
high quality
and fantastic looking gear.
State Liberty is the answer
every time.
When we're talking
true classics,
we're talking
one simple mission.
Take premium
comfortable clothing
and give it to everybody.
Doesn't that sound awesome?
Because I sure think it is.
I've got everything
of theirs now.
I've been rocking the jeans
for a long time,
but I got to tell you
about the shirts.
They are absolutely incredible.
And they don't come with that
and they're not pricey.
Doesn't come with that designer price tag?
Absolutely not.
They're so comfortable.
They're so soft.
Legitimately, I've always been a kind of a graphic T guy.
I get these True Classic shirts.
They fit me right. I'm pretty tall.
They fit me right.
I can reach for things.
The shirt's still good.
It's tight around the chest, the arms, and I just get the colors.
I literally have a black one, a white one, a charcoal, gray one.
They are by going out shirts now.
That is no joke.
I wear those going out.
Everybody says they fit great.
Everybody says I look great.
It's fantastic.
True Classics has sold over 25 million shirts to more than 5 million customers
and have over 200,000 five-star reviews.
The brand is cooking.
and I want you to get involved in it because they're so awesome.
Doesn't break the brink, like I said.
They're not going to get stiff on you.
They don't bunch up.
It's just such a good feel.
I cannot emphasize that enough.
I'm raving about the shirts, but you're going to love the jeans.
You're going to love the whole collection.
Go in there, bop around.
You'll really like what you see.
I want you to get involved in this action with me.
You can buy them at Amazon.
You can buy them at Target, Costco, Sam's Club.
But if you go to true classic.com slash netters, that's N-E-T-T-E-R-S.
You can get a good look at everything we love.
Time to get into our book.
beer league hotline this week. I signed up for an adult league draft at the Pineville Ice House in
North Carolina. Sixty-five guys showed up. They charge us each $60 and there were two
scrimmage sessions. Then they only drafted six of us saying, sorry, there weren't many spots open.
You guys can play in the pickup skate on Mondays at 9 p.m. and Saturdays at 11.30 p.m.
I find at Bush League that on the registration it says everyone will get assigned to a team, then charge us,
then say there are no spots. And now it's too late to sign up for the other rink in town.
This is a criminal racket.
That's a criminal operation.
That is a criminal organization in where?
In North Carolina.
Pineville, North Carolina.
I got a couple things.
Number one, fantastic name of this arena in North Carolina.
Pineville Ice House?
Pineville Ice House?
That is fantastic.
And I'll also say this.
I had absolutely no problem with any bit of this until the, everyone will get assigned to a team and then you'll be charged.
This guy's paying 65 bucks to get robbed.
Of his money and dignity.
It is pride.
It is game.
in his game.
It's unbelievable.
It's a game from him.
Do you think you didn't have a problem with it
because you were saying,
listen, we have six spots.
It's a tryout.
It's a tryout.
You got two skates.
And I guess, yeah, it can't be saying
everyone's getting a spot.
Because I think there are other leagues.
Yeah.
You should be putting people into other leagues.
What happens at ours?
Because people go to that gold.
Do you just say 65 guy, or no, 65 bucks?
No, 65 guys showed up to the draft.
$60 each.
60 bucks each.
So $30 a skate, that's pretty standard.
Yeah, but on the,
Draftnet? I kind of feel like you're like, bro, come skate for free on draft.
Yeah.
Then we're going to charge you a billion dollars.
You can draft for free.
60 bucks, you get two skates.
I got no problem with that.
Really?
Dude, you're a crook. You're a crook.
You got to pay to play, dude.
You're a croat.
Draft night, dude, they should cover draft night.
I agree.
And they should certainly refund you if you don't get on a put on a team.
65 people. That's six teams.
That's real money.
That's six full teams.
Yeah, dude.
Expand the lead, guys.
Great poor.
Like you've got...
Great point.
Dude.
Pine Cone Ice House?
Pine Cone Ice House.
You can get this league up to six and more teams.
Dude, what are you doing?
That's the best...
This is preposterous now.
All of a sudden, we've got a super intense...
You go like this.
This is more money.
Congratulations.
There's six to your point, or even call it like three.
There's three new free agent teams.
Now it's more fun for the whole league.
And if they blow, then like, okay, they're kicked out.
Maybe some of that's...
It's more money for the pine cone.
What are you doing?
Bine cone's getting ready for.
Christmas.
Christmas right around the corner.
I'm looking at 65 able-bodied men with money to spend on beer league hockey.
Easily three actual teams because you need subs and this and that.
That's more money put into the cone.
And you're sending them home.
You send him home.
Send him home empty-handed.
This is crazy behavior.
This is a poorly run business.
You're a criminal racket, but you're a poorly criminal racket.
Poorly run criminal racket.
What are you doing?
Right in front of your eyes.
They made $3,900 off of those 65 people.
Yeah.
And then cut all of them.
Except for six.
I'm like, Jesus Christ.
That's 3900. You have that
3,900 every week if you let these guys
just play in the league. Come on.
Idiots. Idiots.
Okay. Now
the Bauer Blind Ranking.
Yeah. Bower Hockey's bringing
you our blind ranking this week as they do every week.
Go to bowerhockey.com
to find the best hockey gear
and training apparel that exists
in the world. Let's get into this blind ranking.
C.P., what are we doing? We are blind ranking
forwards that
Team USA invited to their Olympic camp.
Oh, wow.
The names are out.
Here's who's been invited.
They're all there playing.
Okay.
Only forwards.
Blind ranking forwards that have been invited to Team USA's Olympic camp.
Okay.
Here we go.
Wags, hit us.
Shout out Matt Boldie Glazer.
Yeah, Matt Boldie.
Yes, dude.
Shout out Boldie Glazer.
He's fired up.
Matt Boldie, man, he's an absolute stud.
I will not.
I hate doing it.
Yep.
he's a perfect three.
Oh, wait, no. Oh, is that our first name?
Oh, I thought he was just saying shout out to Boldie Glazer.
I love that. Shout out Boldie Glazer, Matt Boldie.
Okay. I might have to go low, Dan.
No, you're underrating Matt Boldie.
Well, everyone here is very good. It's the Olympic camp.
There were a few people invited to that camp that I'm like,
agree. I don't want to go five, but I do want to go four.
After what you did last blind ranking, you don't deserve any leave.
way. Fair. But I just think you're setting yourself up for stranger danger here if you go four,
but I'll do it. Four. You don't have to. You don't have to. Map oldie four.
Jake Gensel.
Three. Yeah. And I actually feel good because otherwise I would have had Gensel two. Yeah. And I'm like,
which I mean, could be. Could be. Jake Gensel's disgusting. But I think I'm okay at three.
Yeah, Jake Gensel three. Okay. J.T. Miller. That's going to be a five for me.
Fuck.
It's going to be an actually...
And now you're right.
It's going to be an easy five for me.
And now you're right, though, because I wish we were two, three, four right now.
Yeah.
J.T. Miller is a phenomenal hockey player.
And it's an Olympic camp, dude.
There's good players here.
He's good at playing hockey.
There's a couple that could come in worse than him.
Yeah.
In fact.
Yeah, definitely.
So it's risky.
But I cannot in good confidence put him two.
So he has to go five and we live with this.
This is very dangerous.
Cold coffee.
of two?
This is, we're in deep shit.
Did you, but you wouldn't have wanted him five.
If we had gone two, three, four.
You wouldn't have put Cole five, I don't think.
I think I probably would have.
Fuck.
Again, all of these guys are disgusting.
Yeah, yeah.
But, yeah, we're in deep shit now.
We're hoping now.
Cole it, too.
We're playing the hope game, dude.
Number one, who is it, Wags?
Jack Eichol.
Come on.
Fantastic.
Come on, Jack.
Absolutely fantastic.
Jack number one on that list.
Jack Eichael number one all fucking day.
Frankly, I think we have one little slip up with Cole, but listen, we had to do damage control and we did it well.
Pulled up.
Pulled up.
We patched the holes.
Our ship is sailing.
Wow.
That's a good blind ranking.
Not a great blind ranking, but that is a good blind ranking.
We'll take it.
Well done, boys.
We'll take it.
All right, that's it.
Yeah.
