Welcome to the Empty Netters podcast.
Can you believe what this has become?
There was a full 48 hours where I felt like I was like literally Superman.
Jumbo loves playing Fortnite, so he gets on the sticks.
Did TR show you the sauna cycle or was that all year?
No, no, I invented that.
Almost a year now that I haven't taken a body check.
That's kind of nice.
So we are back.
We are horned up and we are going deep.
Finish tonight with some chicken fingers and a few guineasasers,
ran into you guys.
That's where this pod came to life.
Ice is ready and we're back with another episode of the Empty Netters podcast brought to you by BetMGM.

I'm your host, Dan O, we got 2 and O, Dr. Watkins on the sticks. The penguins are a wagon.
He's horny. I can see his erection from under the table.
And it looks like this man is castless. C.P. He's back.
as rarely
cast off
you know the bump
my hand looks horrible still
and I don't have the full
Wow you do have a big significant bump there
Yep
and not in a good way
Yep and I don't have
Can you see it?
Yeah
And I don't I can't really
I don't have the squeeze yet
Yeah
But it's we presume it's healed
You played some medicine says it's healed
You played some golf this past week
It was nice to see you back out there
Yeah yeah exactly
I think the um
I was telling you there
It's this that still hurts
The impact I can kind of deal with now, but it's like this and this is going to take a little while.
Oh, yeah.
But we're getting there.
We sure are.
We're getting there.
Speaking of getting to things, we've got an amazing episode.
We've got breaking news.
We've got fun stuff, sad stuff.
We are through week one of the 2026, 2027 NHL season.
We're going to get into all of it.
Overreactions, things that make us horny.
And it is amazing.
But before we start, gentlemen, may I have you stand at attention?
Alexander Ovechkin.
is retiring from the NHL.
We salute you, sir.
I am now sure it was even closer than people think last year.
I also am now sure, and I don't blame him for this at all,
that the fact that he's 11 goals away from Gretzky's all-time goal record was a factor.
He was like, I mean, I might as well go get 11 goals and just put the cherry on top of that whole thing.
Yep.
And I am sad.
Of course.
Shout out to us.
Yep.
Makes that interview we did with him over the summer where he was like, I really almost
retired.
That's what I'm saying.
Oh, that was 100% true.
And if you haven't given that episode to listen,
I highly recommend now that Ovi's out the game,
you go back and listen to the send session we had with him during.
I'll put a link in the, yeah, you should.
Yeah, I would just do it because it's,
It's cool chat with a great, awesome dude and one of the greatest players of all time.
It is sad that this comes on the heels of his career low in ice time.
One of their opening games, he had his career low and ice time, and it made me feel like he was like, I'm done here.
I said before the season starts, I'm curious to see how he adjusts to presumably a new role on this team, which is like, listen, you're obviously PowerPlay 1, but you are not going to play as much.
Yeah.
But it makes sense.
He's like Yager towards the end.
He's in his 40s.
He's proven everything.
But the team reloaded.
LT looks amazing.
Tucks scoring all right away.
So I'm like...
I actually wish he would legitimately take time off
to be ready for playoffs.
Maybe he will.
Yeah.
But I think that this is a good thing for the caps
because there's no question mark.
And obviously there are things where the media
and the fans might know stuff,
but the locker room knows other things.
Now everyone knows.
I like that he did.
it early. It's the first week of October and this is him telling fans, buy your tickets.
You want to see me one last time, buy your tickets. And that's not just caps fans. It's all fans.
That's all of us, dude. When they're on the road, you start pitching about the schedule release and I'm like, this is why.
When the caps come to L.A., you better believe I'm going to that game so we can see OV one last time.
So he said he announced, he said he wanted to announce it before the home opener, which I thought was cool.
Very cool. But I actually thought, and obviously the schedule just broke, this.
way, but I actually thought that his brain can only process an 82 game season. So he played two
games and then was like, this will be my last season. Like in his mind, the season starts right now
because he has 82 games left. So he give everyone a full 82 game heads up. That's incredible.
Do you think he thought those two games were preseason? Yes. Yeah, me too. That's why he's making
the announcement now. He's like, the Russian machine is the Terminator brain and vision scan. And he only
knows 82 games. So he was like looking at all the games left in the season. He was like,
well, there's 82 games here. So I don't know what these two games are. I think he thought those
are real games, then saw that there were 82 games more. And he was like, oh, those must have been
preseason. I should now announce. Those weren't real. Yep. The, his last game is April 10th on
the road at Philly. Cool game for the Flyers fans. Yeah. There's always some playoff
implications in that game. The last home game, Alex Ovechkin, will ever play, barring playoffs,
Sunday April 4th
against the penguins.
Oh my God.
Can you believe that, dude?
Can I believe it? That's fucking great.
Isn't that special?
That's so cool.
That's going to be a cool moment with the two of them.
They'll finally do the handshake line.
You know what? Actually, respectfully, hopefully the three of them.
Like get Malkin involved in there too. That's his countrymen.
Yeah.
Also been in the league about just as long.
Shout out.
Or not shout out.
I'm putting this out there right now.
I they need
we need to be at that game
the three of us
and it's gonna be impossible
like normally when I go hey
like can I get a ticket to this
most NHL team's like
of course you can
but this is gonna be like
the most sought after fucking
we're gonna have to put a team together guys
than it was going to be to get to this fucking game
I would love to go to that game
we need Danny Ocean for there is no way
we will go to that there is no chance
we will go to that unless
LT
LT give me some tickets
give me some tickets
Give me some tickets. I'll sit in the nosebleeds, dude. I don't care. That is going to be very, very exciting. Again, I think that this is, it's sad. It's a day we all knew was coming. I think it's so cool to let all the fans across the continent and across the league know. Cool for his teammates, other teams. He also strikes me as the type of guy who if teams in their last game against them who are going to do the like, hey, we got a gift. I could see him being like, don't do that. It's fine. But I do like when players are like, no, do we want.
want to. You know, like this is a cool thing for us to get to play against you one more time.
I have a couple games slash questions for you about this. Go. Number one, I said the Gretzky thing.
He needs 11 more goals to pass Gretzky all time. How many games do you think that'll take?
From now, he's played two games. I think he will do that in game 29 of the season. Evan?
Let's say 38. I want to say quicker, but now you guys have me rattled. Well, it's just he's playing less.
Yeah, I think he's going to have like 35 to 40 this year, is what I would guess.
There's 84 games, dude.
There's 84.
There's a lot of games.
There's two more games.
Dan, you're on the road at Dallas.
And Evan, you said 38?
Yeah, just arbitrarily.
Wow, this would be cool.
Is it the Islanders against Sorokan again?
No.
But it's home versus the Leafs, January 4th.
Okay?
That's a good one.
I'm going to go backwards, and I'm kind of cheating because now I get to see who they're playing.
But give me-
Typical.
Typical, dude.
I'm actually going way, I'm going way early, dude.
Way early.
Home versus the Devils.
Ooh.
Game from now, game 16.
That is, yeah, he's going to start pumping in goals.
A couple multi-goal games.
So people get on that, watch.
I'm excited about that.
Next question.
I guess you kind of answered this,
but are you guys surprised that this is the last year?
No, no, no, no.
I went into this season, especially after the whole contract thing, going 100% this is his last year.
Are you surprised?
No, I mean, it's always shocking.
You know, you're like, fuck, it's time passes.
But because last year, they were kind of like, is this the last one?
You know, it sort of felt like a little bit of a precursor for this.
I did sneaky think last year he could have retired, so I can't say I'm surprised,
even though I want to.
But I did think, I'm talking to both sides of my mouth because last year I legitimately thought he might,
in the middle of summer ago. I've retired, by the way. And so now I, but now that he came back,
I'm kind of like, well, dude, play forever. Yeah, keep it rolling. Yeah, he doesn't seem, there's two things.
He doesn't seem like a yager to me in that he's just so addicted to playing that he would do it
till the wheels fall off. And he also didn't seem like a Cid, like an Ichero, where he goes,
when I stop playing, I will die. Yeah. So to me, it felt natural that this was it. So my next
question is, could he be not done? Because his direct quote, his direct quote in the, in the video that
the Capitol's team played is, this is going to be my last year. I'm pretty sure. Like, that's his
direct quote. I'm like, okay, so. I could see caps go to the Eastern Conference final or the
cup. Yeah. And they get clipped. And it's their, their team's really good. And they have a guy signed.
As we said, look at their roster structure.
All the guys signed.
They're young again.
And O could even take a little less.
I could see him going,
getting the taste, getting the frothy brew of playoff hockey and smelling the Stanley Cup
and him going, we were pretty nasty.
And if his body feels good, I could see him going, I'll do one more.
Especially a thing like this, Dan, where the caps go, dude,
really won't sign, just go away.
You're done.
Don't announce anything.
and then we'll sign you like Jan 1.
Yeah.
You know, be training, but just like you don't have to come and grind 82, 84 anymore.
Yeah.
Just you come Jan 1 and we'll make another run out.
However, the other thing of it is it feels like a cope situation and like Copey announced
his retirement.
And he was the best player on the team last year.
And everyone was like, you could still play.
And he was like, no, dude, I made my choice.
I'm going home.
Yeah.
I think O's going home too.
I think he's going to go back to Russia.
So I think for a guy like that to make the statement, it would be not crazy.
would take a lot to be like, no, I'm coming back.
So I think we got to prepare.
Everyone prepared.
Yeah.
I think the three of us are happy he did this, but I'm not, so I'm not asking that,
because I think it's cool and respectful for a lot of race.
But are you guys surprised he's a farewell tour guy?
Because I am.
I definitely thought he was going to be a guy that was just gone.
So my tune got changed on this a little while ago when we were talking about players who do this.
It's not a farewell tour, in my opinion.
It's a gesture to everyone else.
To the fans.
both in D.C. saying if you can only get to one game this year, make sure, you know,
do only get to one game, make sure you do it this year because I'm gone.
It's a gesture to fans in other cities.
If you're a Penguins fan and you're like, I can only go to one game this year,
make sure it's a CPS game, so you get to CO and the other players.
I don't think it's a fair old tour.
I think it's a gesture to everyone else who wants to be able to have a chance to see him
for the last time or acknowledge the last time you play him.
I guess I'm curious about like when did this thing start, like the whole idea of announcing you're going to retire.
And then and then like going around and having everybody give you your flowers.
And I know like it really only matters for players that are legendary or generational.
But like it seems like a recent phenomenon to me.
Like I don't think they're like when Wayne retired, did we all know that he was going to retire the beginning of that season?
Like how did that go down?
I don't remember.
Yeah, I was too young to remember that.
But like, it seems like to me it's, I don't dislike the thing.
I think it's totally a fine thing to do.
It doesn't seem like, you know.
I think it's slightly, I think it's a combination of it's slightly newer because of the internet.
Yeah.
These are things that.
This says, Julia, Servant, Dr. Jay is the first major professional team sport athlete to announce
retirement prior to a season before the start of the 86-87 NBA season,
the Philadelphia 70-6th century forward.
Okay.
It's the first one.
Yeah.
I think we are more aware of it because of the internet these days.
Yeah.
And I think players are more, like, teams are more willing to, like, give you your flowers, so to speak.
I also think it's a hard thing for a player to realize.
Yeah.
It's weird to go into a season and go, dude, I can still play at this level, but I'm going to retire at the end of the year.
That's, I can't even process making that decision unless you have won everything and you're in your 40s.
Yeah.
So, I get it.
Who did you just say?
Oh, Wayne.
did Wayne Gretzky
because that's really interesting
but again I don't think that this is so much
as a farewell tour as it is a gesture
he feels like a gesture guy
he chose to keep his retirement plans quiet
during the 9899 season because he did not want
a traveling celebration or city to city spectacle
there you go interesting yeah
and word leaked before his second to last game
so then he got a huge ovation there right
see that's yeah that's okay and then
my last thought was this this will be really cool
I'll just do this with you for time's sake
rapid fire knee jerk
Copey got a ton of
jersey swaps. That was a thing that happened
during his farewell tour. Sid did one. Ovi did one.
In fact, Ovi, as we now
know, loves
collecting sticks. So I do
think that's going to happen. On every last stop
he's going to get a stick from that team
on his last stop. I think you should do it every game.
Every game. Oh my gosh. Actually, I kind of
love that. Stick swap? I kind of love it. Yeah.
I mean, like, we heard last season
like Patty Kane, it was like
well, no, that was just skates. Paddy Kane was like, I
use 50 different pairs of skates a season.
And I was like, what?
Can I get one of those?
I mean, there's a lot of guys who go through a stick a game at least.
Yeah, for sure.
That's an easy swap.
I think you should do it once a game.
Tell me the stick he's getting rapid fire.
Bruins.
Pasta.
Panthers.
Barkov.
Canadian's.
Well, maybe not now.
Well, he's last game.
Oh, Barkov.
Canadian's, damn it off.
Oh, sick one, dude.
God, that's such a good game.
You're going to go through every game here?
Yeah, Rangers.
Shasturkin.
Penguins. Sick.
Goly swap, Sid.
Got to do it again one more time.
Cains?
Give me
Jarve.
Sends?
Interesting.
I got to do this quicker.
Sandy.
I wanted Juru there so badly.
Oh, it's definitely Juru.
Islanders?
Seroon.
Blue jackets.
I'm telling you he's going to get some goalie sticks this year.
I think you're right.
Blue jackets.
Z.
T.
I gave my answer.
I'm sorry.
Sabers.
I'm thinking
Tage Thompson.
Just another righty one T-boys.
Oh yeah, a couple of one-tie boys?
Lightning.
Cooch.
Devils.
Jack.
Leafs.
Poppy.
Flyers.
Maybe Willie.
Flyers.
Zegris.
Could be Beach Coff,
but it's going to be Zee.
Red Wings.
Um.
No one.
Mo.
Oh, sick.
Avs?
Nate.
Wild.
Krill.
Mammoth?
Mammoth?
I want.
Keller.
Okay, okay.
Oilers.
Yeah, Connor.
Ducks.
Ducks.
Dude, Leo.
I was almost going to say granny.
Yeah.
I could see that being a cool captain captain swam.
But I think that would be a cool, like, dude, you're something special.
Yeah, yeah.
You got a ton of money.
Nice job on that country.
Sharks.
Mac.
Cracking.
Baneers.
Yes, dude, yes. Vegas. Jack. Canucks. Pedy. Yes. Jets. Give me my guy. Yeah, Kyle Conno. Come on. St. Louis Blues. Let's go dinner. Oh, good one. Kings. Drew.
Oh, good one. I was going to say bread man, but Drew would be shit. It has to be true. Stars.
Honest to God, maybe Ben.
dude I thought it may be Ben but let's go with game respect game Wyatt Johnston
Hawks caner yes dude it has to be one more time like I could obviously badard but like you've got to
go caner and then flames oh my god um how about oh maybe huberto oh good one yeah hell of a stick
collection Ovi, I'm proud of you. Yeah, that's pretty cool. That's pretty sick. And dude, if there are
any PR teams that weren't thinking about making that happen, I hope you were listening to this
episode because it will be sick. Like he wants sticks and I'm like, dude, this is such a new ring. And like
to the boys, he loves sticks. Go stick swap with him. Get him something sick. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay, gentlemen, can I have you stand on attention? Yes. Alexander Barkov has hurt his knee again.
10 to 12 weeks
officially announced
huge, huge win for the Panthers
that Barkov is not done for the season.
But looks like he's going to be coming back around
Christmas, New Year's,
playing against the sharks, weird play against the boards,
jamming around for a puck,
got off balance,
left knee buckles,
immediately goes to the gate,
opens the door himself,
fires his gloves, goes off the ice,
nightmare feel for the Panthers.
Yep.
You look very serious.
I wrote, I'm not going to read it, so I don't even know I'm bringing this up because I don't want to, but I wrote, with the intention of reading it, I wrote a eulogy for Barcoff's knee.
But you didn't realize it was only 10 to 12 weeks.
And then I was like, I don't even want to put this out there, but it was a combination of the obituary from the movie Serendipity, which is a tremendous movie.
now that we're almost into the Christmas season,
I highly recommend you all watch it
if you have not seen Saran Dap.
Is that the John Cusack?
Sure is.
Jeremy Piven, as well.
We had that on DVD.
Kate Beckinsale.
Tremendous.
It's a lovely film.
Yeah.
And the eulogy that Professor Slughorn gives for Aragog.
Farewell.
Your knee.
Aragole.
Has decayed.
But your spirits lingers on.
And then I realized I, in the,
the beautiful thing, no spoilers of serendipity is John Cusack is not in fact dead and neither
his knee, but I just, I only want to wish positive things on his knee, so I'm not going to
read it. Yeah, don't read that. It was a good coping mechanism for me and I recommend any Panthers
fans who are going through something, write an obituary for Barcoast's knee, get it all out on paper,
you will feel better, I do. And also, the, with, with death, there is also rebirth.
Yes. Brad Marchand's back. Brad Marchand's back and scoring goals. So they're going to be
just fine. That was
utter nightmare fuel for Panthers fans
to go into game two of the season
and watch Barkov go down.
I think, I've said this many times.
The NFL, being an NFL GM must be the hardest thing to do because you know
three of your superstars are going to tear their ACLs
over the course of the season. So you work so hard to put a championship team
together and then you just pray to the injury gods that enough of them are healthy for
you to win a Super Bowl. It's complete luck.
Yeah.
the NH other sports, it's not really like that.
Injuries happen, but you're not banking on them happening.
You go, we could have our whole team.
And I texted, we were on the text, obviously.
I texted Marty.
I was like, man, if I'm Zito, I'm sick to my stomach that we somehow through team-friendly
deals and just smart GMing put together a team that wanted to be here that was going to
win the next five cups and then got robbed of all of them because this kept happening.
they probably could have had a really good chance at winning last year.
And you got too many guys hurt.
And they're like, whatever, we're going to win this year.
And we've all been like, oh, my God, Panthers are back.
They're going to win.
And then they're like, Barkoff heard again.
And if you're a GM, you just must be like, what the fuck, dude?
We literally have the best team and we just can't stay on the ice.
Yeah.
And it seems like freak accidents, you know?
It's not just random wear and tear.
It's like, God damn it.
Barcoff fell wrong again.
Yeah, it was not great.
I'm going to guess it's an MCL given the timetable.
that's great. It's probably no surgery is what I would assume. I also think you wonder,
even though he came back and looked amazing in worlds, did he come back too early? Now, it's a
different knee from what I saw. Correct me if I'm wrong on that, folks. No, it's a different knee.
But you always talk about the compensation injury. Oftentimes if you, the pressure with lower body
with leg stuff, you hurt one, you then start working too hard on the other, given both out of fear
of the injury and during the recovery phase.
This just felt like an insanely unlucky, you know, bump.
I don't think it has anything to do with the other injury.
I don't think it is anything to do with, like, weakness.
I think it was just so unlucky.
It's kind of like when you get the same break in your hand twice.
Actually, it is exactly like this.
And now you are terror.
Now you live in constant state of fear because I will never fall again and brace myself.
Anytime I get tripped, I'm going dead down, dude, which is a lot of
obviously, of course, going to lead to a collarbone break.
So this is a...
Be careful.
This is how this goes out there.
I did think, you know, I'm over-analizing it, but when I saw it happening, all the
replays, you can see him lose...
Not his edge.
In fact, that's what hurts him, but his edge work is there, but he loses his center
of gravity.
And there's a full second, I would say, before...
Between that happening and him getting bent wrong, that I almost think in that moment he should
have just jumped out of the play because the second he got his leg under him, he hadn't been
pushed backwards yet, but it was a threat. I think I would have been like, it's like dead fish
backwards to be like, yo, I can't be here right now because I'm in a tough spot. I needed him to
get the fuck out of there. And that will be my recommendation moving forward. Any weird spots.
If you see Barkoff start dead fishing all over the ice, just know that he actually just saved your
season because he was one second away from tearing a ligament. This is, uh, so you're just saying he's saving
himself. This is precautionary measures.
precautionary dead fishing.
He might get a negative on that, but you know, whatever.
Yeah, yeah, take it, dude.
They're like, Barkoff's diving.
And I'm like, shut the fuck up, dude.
He's staying alive.
I was pleased to see how much Panthers fans love him.
Yeah.
By the completely irrational talk online of saying that the sharks were targeting him.
And it was a dirty play and this and that.
And I was just like, that's love.
That is love.
Yeah, yeah.
And so many people were like, he's the only non-rat on the team
Why would you go?
And I was like, this is love.
This is beautiful.
It's okay.
Panthers fans are just looking out for their guy.
we had said this team might not, I think I picked them to win the division because I was like,
that'd be so fun, but I was like, this is a team that doesn't need to win the division.
Correct.
I think these injuries have pretty much taken that out, I would almost argue.
Unless it would be Atlantic becomes such a dogfight that it, they are, listen, they are
one of the best teams in the East, no question, and their depth is borderline unrivaled.
However, we always say there are teams that have many teams that have a guy, that it doesn't
matter how deep you are, it will hurt to have them.
out for a long period of time, as we saw last year.
They missed playoffs.
Sasha Barkov, being out for 10 to 12 weeks is not great.
That might lead to some losses that you wouldn't have normally had and maybe will make
you fall to second, third in the division, potentially.
I feel for Brady Kachuk a little bit too while we're on the Panthers right now.
I've only seen one Panthers game this year.
We watched that opening night game.
I haven't got to see a start-to-finish Panthers game since.
But I thought he looked great in that game.
It was a one-nothing overtime game.
but I was like, oh, Brady's... He was all over the place.
His high danger chances were great, shots, great penalty, and, you know, was just in the mixer.
And then I was cruising X the other day, and I saw someone be like, when is Brady going to do anything worthy of all these picks we gave up?
And, you know, he is 0-0-0-1 so far through three games.
But again, I've only seen the first game where I thought he looked awesome.
So maybe he's looked bad in the next two, but I'm like...
No, if you're Brady-Cochuk, you've got to get on a statue next.
Exactly. That's all I'm saying.
And now the spotlight is only going to...
to be on him even more heavily because of this injury. So it's time to fucking, you know,
time to get the juices flow in there, buddy. It is crazy, bro, that he, and he's been,
he missed a few, he missed significant time the last two seasons, but he went like 30, 35, 37
goals from age like 22, 3, 4. Yeah. And again, missed time the last couple years, but
and you probably won't even get that high totals on a team this deep because it doesn't have to be
you, but it is crazy when you're scoring nearly 40 goals as a 23-year-old.
Your expectations are like, this is a 50-goal guy.
And I'm like, I don't know if he ever is going to be that.
Yeah, I don't think he needs to be there.
It doesn't.
I think he's 35, 45 ceiling.
Which would be sick.
You got that.
Yeah, I mean, you, but I mean, dude, he was 83 and 82 at 23 years old.
Yeah.
So, you know, that is what people expect.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So, yeah, got to get it flowing here.
Let's get one in.
Let's see one go in.
Let's see one go in.
That would be nice.
That would be nice.
Let's hear from that MGM real quick.
We are one week into the NHL season,
and that means my favorite promotion of all time is back.
That is the Hat Trick Jackpot.
Okay, you have your chance to win your share of 10 Gs in bonus bets.
It's unbelievable.
All you have to do is log into your BetMGM account
and then pick an anytime goal score.
Any game, anyone you want, not first goal, any time goal.
Just pick someone who you know is going to light the lamp that day.
Then, if that player scores, you have won.
won that bet. That is still an independent bet that you can just win. And you're getting good
odds on that stuff. So you're already laughing. You've already hit an anytime goal score and you're
already getting paid out, which is amazing. And then just for fun, just for gigs, if that player
scores three or more goals during that game, you still win your independent bet and you get your
share of 10,000 bucks in bonus bets. That is unbelievable. Okay? If you haven't signed up for
BETM-M-G-M-Y-M-M-Yet, do it right now. Use that promo code netters when you sign up. That's N-E-T-T-E-R-R-S.
Then you get your new player offer and you can have all kinds of fun with parlays and odds boost tokens and of course the hat trick jackpot because you can only do it at BetMGM make it legendary
Things got awkward in Detroit on their home opener
When Dylan Larkin was brought out during the announcement of the team the starting lineups and he got mercilessly booed by the Detroit faithful
my question is why did you do that okay i actually want both of your takes on this so um for the people
that don't know having when you go to the home opener this is this was very normal like every
the fucking everyone that is employed by the team is up there and as they should be it's cool we don't
get to see them as fans often where they're like the trainer that this guy that this guy everyone's
name gets called out this is what happens so to the people that felt like the the wings were
forcing that that is not true that is that was a very very good that is very good that is very
common practice that each person would get announced. I have to believe that Dylan Larkin and the
wings all knew the second that we say Dylan Larkin's name, he's going to get hammered with
booze. So I think a lot of us, and I think is what you're saying, we're reacting like this. How
come the wings didn't go, hey, Larks, obviously normally we would call it all the scratches. Why don't
you just not go out there? Because I don't want to put you in this weird spot. Yeah. That's what I
would have done. I was going to say, do you think that they should have Uncle Jack Dorso arrest
development? Ignore it. And just not announce him. So that's what I'm asking. Did they do that with the Jets
with Halibuck? Great question. I don't know. Because I'm like, don't do this. Because Dan,
I think what most of us are calling for is we shouldn't have brought him out there. But then maybe it looks,
Maybe Dylan even was like, I don't want to like run away.
Like it looks like such a bitch.
Because clearly he should have been announced because that's what happens with the scratches.
So it's like, oh, where's Larkin?
And all of Twitter would have been like, oh my God, the wings didn't even announce Larkin.
So it's kind of a lose-lose.
But I think I would have preferred that loss.
I've been like, just don't say my name.
So this is a something's going to be said no matter what, whichever way you go.
I would rather the internet have been like, wow, the wings didn't even announce Larkin.
I'd rather that.
Yeah.
than have your captain of many years and hometown boy get mercilessly booed.
But then again, maybe ownership and management was like, he deserved this.
I do think there was a little bit of spite in there.
I think there was a little stank.
A little bit of a stank there going, you deserve these booze, my friend.
If you're going to ask for a trade out of here, take your medicine.
I think there's a world where that was the case.
And you know what?
I like it.
Part of me.
I respect that.
Wanted.
I wish.
And there's still a version of this that the rules have changed slightly,
but there's a version of this that could even still happen.
Yeah.
But part of me wanted, you know how he was like, what do you say, Florida, Vegas or?
Yeah, it was Florida Vegas and shit.
Were, forget, was it Dallas?
Maybe.
Dallas is on there now.
I just can't remember if that was in the top of the league.
Oh, Tampa, Tampa, Tampa, Tampa.
I think it was Tampa, Tampa, Tampa, Tampa.
Okay.
Florida, Tampa, Vegas, I think.
But whatever.
But, you know, he said three teams and it was kind of hard.
Don't fucking put me on the spot.
that you're an idiot there was three teams that he said and everybody was like oh my god eye roll those
are so nasty and this is a nightmare and then immediately florida got brady kitchuck and we all went
okay cross off the panthers so it's even harder for the wings now there's a version of this
where well and then sorry then the golden knight signed uh anderson yeah and we were kind of like
probably crossed them off yeah too nowhere to go but there's in the previous rules and a more lengthy
Barkoff injury. There was a version where
Barkoff gets hurt, L-T-I-R,
get Larkin, and then Barkoff comes back
and they have them all and we're like, oh my God.
Dude, even with the injury now, I'm like, go get Larkin.
What are we doing? I genuinely
don't think that they have the pieces to do it, but
I am with you. When this Barkoff injury
happens, there was a part of me that was like, oh my God.
Get him. Just go trade for Larkin.
So sick. Now, this is a message
to the Detroit Red Wings and
the Winnipeg Jets.
The holy balls, this is awkward.
We are a week into the NHL season.
And Dylan Larkin remains a member of the Detroit Red Wings.
Connor Hullabuck remains a member of the Winnipeg Jets.
And Simon Edvinson remains a member of the Detroit Red Wings.
All players who have formally requested a trade and are like, get me out of here.
I would like to point to Exhibit A, the Columbus Blue Jackets.
They made a trade the day before the season.
got Marchenko out to Toronto and they got
Maddie Knives in. Maddie Knives
is thriving in Columbus and
Marchenko is doing very well in Toronto.
Just make a trade.
This is a band-aid
that has been through multiple
showers, multiple workouts,
has jumped in the lake, maybe
even a pool. It is just
barely hanging on and there's an infection
under it. You need to rip it off and put some
neosporn on it and get things
moving in the right direction. Stop
delaying this. It is insane.
And here's the other part, dude, you are diminishing your players value by making them not play hockey for this much longer.
It is crazy town.
Trade these fucking players for the love of God.
And they're diminishing our enjoyment of the sport as fans.
And dude, to be very clear, I do not envy their job.
You've been put in a very tough spot.
It's awful.
Franchise guys who signed contracts and then are now demanding trades.
I get it.
We can debate that topic till the fucking cows come home.
But here's the reality of the situation.
Fuck you.
Trade them so we can all watch these superstars play hockey.
And I'm sick of this.
I won't have it.
You got to trade them.
Your job sucks right now.
Your life sucks right now.
Fucking trade them.
And then we can all move on.
And I'm telling you, people will move on.
I think that these, both these circumstances, the Edvinson one is tougher because I
actually love that player.
Don Sweeney, Don Sweeney, Don Sweeney, Don't Sweeney, Don't Sweeney.
How is he not on the Bruins?
I, well, I mean, again,
It's the same thing with the, I mean, we could talk about Nikition too.
I don't know.
Yeah.
I bring up Nikition in this thing.
That's another one.
But the kings, when Nickition was named, they were like, oh, my God, go get him
and play him with Clarkie.
I feel the same way about Edvinson with the Kings.
I just don't think the Kings have anything to trade.
Yeah.
But the Bruins do.
So I'm like, go get that guy.
I felt they should trade for Larkin and.
I know.
Dude, I said that.
A dead ass.
Phone calls, the line's already open because I know Detroit.
said they turned down a Boston trade.
Clearly you're communicating.
So I'm like, okay, can we spring, can we take them both and we'll add more?
Like there's the line is flowing right now.
Absolutely.
Add juice.
Edmondson and McAvoy looks fucking great for sure.
But Boston and L.A. is a place that would love that player.
But no question.
You just, you're at the point with these teams where I, honest to God, I don't think there's
going to be any chatter of, oh, my God, we got fleeced.
Oh, this looks so bad.
even with Hellebuck, because it's just like, you've got to just get this done.
And you're so right, I feel awful for the GMs.
This is a brutal situation.
I love that Betman acknowledged the no-move clause thing.
And he was like, this is not what this was made for.
We are going to change this if this keeps happening.
Get rid of it.
That is a great thing.
We are big for player protection, but this has turned into terrorism.
And we do not negotiate with terrorists.
So you've got to get this fixed.
but I need it.
I need it in this week.
If we are not in next episode this week discussing this trade,
then I don't know what's going on.
How long do you think those guys, Hella Bucks did the trickier one?
How long do you think Hellebuck will go?
Will he sit out the whole season?
As long as it takes.
Yeah.
He's in a tree stand somewhere.
Fucking bow hunting bucks and without a care in the world.
They probably made a trade and they can't get a hold of him.
They've been paging him.
He's got no service out in the woods.
Yeah.
They're like, dude, you're on the sabers.
Go to Buffalo.
And he's like, I'm sorry, dude.
I have bought, do you have any idea how many cans of beans I have with me?
Did you have any idea how long I can last down?
They've got to get the FBI people that track down the fucking Unabomber.
Yeah.
To figure out where he is in a shed somewhere.
Dude, hell of up comes back.
He's got a beard.
He's got the biggest beard you've ever seen.
Yeah, yeah.
He's got booby traps.
Jesus Christ.
God, that's incredible.
It is truly, truly stunning that we still have this type of drama going on.
but it's got to happen.
And I'm telling you, Detroit, the start of the season, the boo session,
Edvinson also wanting out, just for the love of God.
Just start over, I think G said online, rip it all down and build around Mo and Razor.
Yeah.
That is absolutely a fact.
And I understand fans going, you want us to do a rebuild again?
Look at how bad the last one went.
But that's kind of the biz, right?
Correct.
I think it actually takes a lot of courage.
It takes a lot of courage to acknowledge that you started building the house and it doesn't look good.
You should just demo it again.
And it's going to suck.
But I saw someone, some Detroit fan was like, you can't do that because Raymond and Moe in five years are going to be past their prime.
And I was like, no, no, no, no.
They're like 24 still.
They're going to be dead set in the middle of their prime.
And hopefully you have a dude who is five years into his blossom.
of being sick NHL career.
Yeah, what are you talking about?
And again, it doesn't mean a trade only for picks.
There's picks and prospects.
There's things you can do, but you've just got to make a move here.
You absolutely have to.
So it's the only move.
All of these guys this week, if you're not traded, then we're going to...
Boom.
I'm going to get on the sticks and we're going to get into GM mode and we're going to take...
Yeah, yeah, I'll handle this.
All right.
Let's get into some ads and then jump into this past week one of the NHL
and talk about some things that have us overreacting heavy.
Babes, you all know that I'm a fashion guy.
I love adding some accessories looking good.
That's why I want to talk to you about GLD.
Some of the best jewelry in the game right now.
I'm a big time jewelry guy.
I was at a wedding last weekend.
Surprise, surprise, I know.
Dan, I had another wedding.
And I had my GLD chain and bracelet on.
They matched.
They look amazing.
They were popping with my suit.
It is fantastic.
I am here to tell you, boys, it is good.
Not only is it okay.
It is good to up your game when it comes to fashion,
accessorizing, making yourself look good. As I always say, you look good, you feel good, you feel good,

After your purchase, they're going to ask where you heard about them.
please support our show and tell them that empty netters sent you.
We're talking some Dr. Squatch.
We're talking some celebration challenge.
Listen, I was watching NFL all weekend.
I'm glad they're letting the boys do their dance in the end zone,
getting more creative with the celebrations.
It's pretty cool.
And I actually get jealous when I think about hockey
because a lot of those guys, it's just a little bang.
I like the hands in the air.
That's a pretty unique thing to hockey
where everybody puts the hands up.
But it's usually just a fist pump from the boys.
I want more scoops.
I want more glass jumps.
I want a little bit more team.
You know what I'm saying? Get the celebration going because it fires me up and don't even get me started on beer league.
None of the boys even want to celebrate anymore.
And all I want to do is celebrate.
It's midnight on a Wednesday.
You're going to let me have a fist pump.
Please, you're going to fight me over that?
No, sir.
What is your go-to, Sally?
When you think about the sport you love to play,
what do you do?
What do you do when you hit that huge home run?
You score that goal.
And have you ever celebrated something that got called back?
Because I haven't.
It's quite humiliating.
But it's worth it for the celebration every single time.
Okay?
And who's ready to do a full celebration cold in public?
Because that's what we're talking about here.
Grocery store, gas station, empty parking lot.
I don't care.
No game happening.
which one of you has the stones to do it with people watching because Dr. Squatch and I Show Speed
launched the Speed Run million dollar mission. Nine weeks of challenges, 25 chances to win a million
dollars in prizes. A new challenge drops every week and anyone can enter. This week is the
celebration challenge. So all you have to do is film your best football celebration. Like you get
in the end zone. What are you doing? And I need some show stopping stuff here. You get extra credit for
doing it somewhere random and in public. So if you're at home, that's cool, but it's not that
embarrassing. I'm talking in the middle of a park picnic, beautiful Saturday. You're going
nuclear. Everyone else on their phone's filming you. That's what I want to see, okay? Full
rules and entry are on the site. There are nine briefcases hidden around the world, and you get a new
clue and out each week, and this one is out this week. So the clues get more obvious as the campaign
goes on. And listen, people's theories are flying all over the internet, all over Reddit. If you
You want to get in on this action, you do some digging, and you can get a heads up.
Being wrong is part of the fun part because you're part of the chase.
Okay, so grab your Dr. Squatch at Walmart, then go to speedrun MDM.com for this week's
celebration challenge and the new briefcase clue.
As we are in season, it's time for our Tuesday morning overreactions.
Every first episode of the week, we are going to get into the latest overreactions of the season.
and I've got a few here that I feel very passionate about.
And I think we have a similar one.
Do you want to start with the Dallas Stars?
Yeah, they're horrible.
The Dallas Stars might be awful.
They are the worst team in the NHL.
I picked them to win the division.
I thought this was there.
This was finally the cup run.
This was the we signed Robo to one year deal.
We got it done.
We won the cup.
And then everyone goes on there Mary Wade bumps it on down the road.
Turns out the only thing bumping on down the road is you.
Because you're going to kick your can out of Dallas.
You're going to get fucking moved to Atlanta.
And then you're not a team anymore.
because you had the biggest championship window I've ever seen.
And then not only did you slam it shut,
but you left your fingers in the fucking window frame.
And you fucking slammed it down and you broke all four fingers
and now you wear a cast like me for the rest of your fucking life.
And then now you have to cheer for the thrashers.
That's the state of the Dallas stars right now.
The thrashers.
Yeah, they're moving to Atlanta and they're becoming the thrashers.
We were going to call them the Phoenix.
Oh yeah, the Phoenix.
The Atlanta Phoenix.
Now you're a Phoenix fan.
And actually that's a pretty cool fate.
So congratulations, Dall, people of Dallas.
You're all Phoenix fans.
I'm scared
I'm scared
They started by getting
Dogwalked by the St. Louis Blues
Who by the way are nasty
McTavish looks so good
So it's actually not Dallas's fault at all
Monty let's go
Blues let's go
We see ya
They started by getting dog walked
And it also came with a terrifying
Knee on knee hit to Rubeiants
Yeah
And I was like
Here we go
My God
And by the way
Thank the Lord
Yeah, oh yeah.
Is okay because that was a, that wasn't a dirty hit by Carlo.
It was an un-law, I mean, knee on knee is shitty.
Yeah, yeah.
But I don't believe there was any intent there.
I think it was just a shit play, whatever.
But thank God he's okay.
Everyone's good.
Let's move on.
With how unbelievably talented this Dallas roster is the fact that we have one goal through two games
and you've lost to the Blues and the Preds, who I believe on paper are two teams that
you feel like we've got to be winning those games.
The Blues game was at home.
Now they're playing tonight.
and I'm kind of like, all right, what are we doing tonight, boys?
Are we getting back on track?
Or are you going to get slept again?
And now it's going to be 0 and 3 start.
My question for you is, is there a world where the Dallas stars are starting slow for purposes of figuring out their kinks now?
How about that?
Yeah.
It's like bobslet.
High in, low out.
lose ton of games to collect speed and win ton of games on the way out.
They're slingshoting.
Slingshot.
High and low out.
It better be.
And obviously, this point is, you know, for reaction, people go on two games kids all time.
Doesn't fucking matter.
But you just want, you just get so amped up for the start of the season.
Folks.
I mean, you've got some winnable games.
You're like, dude, win them.
And then you stink.
And it's like, come on.
Folks, like we said, this is Tuesday morning overreactions.
We are overreacting.
Yep.
hate those two games.
Hate them, dude.
They're awful.
We got so juiced up, dude.
I was bouncing on it.
Bouncing on Jake Ottinger.
I do every year.
You do every year, and I hopped on the Pogo stick.
I don't know why.
And does he not like me personally?
Four nothing loss.
I think there's a world where you need to shut up.
Because it's just like...
You're jinxing him.
Yeah, I make...
You know what?
Let's talk about it.
What happened last year?
I finally shut up about the Buffalo Sabers.
Yeah.
It's the best thing I could have done for them.
Won the division.
Okay.
Want a playoff round.
And you pulled Dallas. So, you know, maybe this is my opportunity to just step back.
Step back and let me take the reins.
Fuck you, Dallas. I don't even like you.
All right. I'm not rooting for you.
I think that might have been a little aggressive.
This is what they need, Dan.
I've showered them in praise.
I know. And all they do is lose. So get ready to strap in.
We're bringing ourselves back down to center. We're on a journey. I'm on a journey here of
where we're changing the way we overreact to stuff. We don't need to use.
such dramatic language all the time.
We're going to be very grounded,
realistic.
We don't need to say,
fuck, Dallas.
But we can say,
hey, I'm going to take a step back
from this relationship
and see how things look.
Yeah, listen, we need to take a break.
You guys are taking some time.
I'm going to break.
Dallas and I are on a break.
They say,
never forget the alamo.
Yeah.
I think you just need to forget the alamo.
Yeah.
Forget the alamo.
They say, oh yeah,
this is the same thing.
I was about to say,
they say remember the alamo,
but that is also remembering
is in fact that never forgetting it.
Look at me.
Forget the almo.
I'm neuralizing you.
You've forgotten about the alamo.
I have a question.
What happened at the alamo?
I've never heard of it.
Yeah.
Don't even know that that's a thing.
Peeway Herman lost his bike there.
It was in the basement and that's it.
If Dallas goes on an all-time run this year, that is going to be my rally and cry that we don't know what happened at the alamo or what the alamo is.
What is the al-a-a-a-hash-tag?
If they go to the Stanley Cup final, then we will take you on a visit and you can be educated.
There you go.
And no, we can't tell after.
Like, I can't find out during the final.
No, it's really shit.
We are unfortunately going to Dallas this weekend.
I know.
So, yes.
My alamo is going to be the Star Stanley Cup.
That is, if you anyone ask me what the alamo is, I'm going to be like, it's an absolute tilt in end of May, early June against the Panthers.
Yeah.
Not great.
Listen, shut out by the blues.
I hate that Otter's giving up four goals, three and an empty netter.
It doesn't matter.
Four goals went in.
And then this offense, you go up against the Preds, who, shut up, Preds, you look great.
And Soros looked.
great.
About time.
But only one goal.
And I'm like, this team is so offensively talented.
What is happening?
So we're going to overreact to the Dallas Star starting 0 and 2.
And unfortunately, we're taking them tonight to win against the sharks, which is the worst
decision of all time because the sharks will never lose again.
Yeah, correct.
Why don't we just roll that one right into this overreaction then?
Okay.
My overreaction is the San Jose sharks of San Jose and the Anaheim Ducks of Anaheim, California,
are the top two teams in the Pacific and will be for the entire season.
And possibly the league.
I think, well, they might not lose.
They are the two best teams in the Pacific.
That division now belongs to the ducks and the sharks.
Oilers, I'm very proud of you.
You're drunk as shit, but I'm very proud of you.
Everyone is injured and you're winning games 9-7.
It's the most entertaining thing I've ever seen.
And you are going to make playoffs and going to run.
Yes.
But as far as the regular season, the Pacific belongs to the sharks and the ducks, that is my overreaction.
Somebody on, we posted the tears today and somebody said an early comment was like,
because the oils have started really slow lately.
And the early comment was like, the Oilers,
have their best start in years and you guys put them as drunk. And I was like, did you see the Canucks
games? How else would you describe the start? And it made me so happy because so many Oilers fans
came to the defense and was like this. Those were the drunkest games I've ever seen in my life.
I mean, we had a parlay on that first game. And the fact that they went down five to in the first
five minutes of the third and then somehow tied it and then lost an OT. That game has a BAC of 97.
Yep. So, here's what's cool about sharks and ducks. Ducks already have gone, and they will have some difficulties with their cap, but already they have gone, doesn't matter at all this year. All the Ducks Demise talk all summer. Put that in your fucking pipe and smoke it. We are good. We are just as good as we were last year, if not better. And Leo and Cutter are worth every penny. And y'all are bitches. Leo and Cutter are worth every penny. And they are absolutely showing, as we talked about with Marty, all, all.
of our questions were you two are the most important guys in the team now, you and Lecombe.
Yep.
Okay.
Are you ready for that responsibility through two games?
Absolutely.
They are so impossibly.
Like they have all the points.
They drive all the offense and they look insanely in sync and so good.
So that worked out great.
And I also want to give a stick tap.
We talked about it over the weekend.
Tristan Leno, who played 14 games in the NHL and got given 43 sheets.
And everyone was like, what the actual fuck is going on?
if you are not watching the ducks, watch them and pay close attention to him, he is worth every penny of that.
It's two games.
We're overreacted.
But I am telling you, if you look at his stats in the queue, his stats in the A, he's fucking gross.
And they made a bet on him to pay him $7.2 million for the next six years after this season.
And it looks great.
So I actually love that contract by Verbeek.
And, dude, I don't even know if they have cat problems.
Like to me, I'm like, just keep on doing what you're doing.
Yeah, well, they've got some stuff to figure out for sure.
But it doesn't, but right now, right now it doesn't matter at all.
I don't even mean right now, like, as in on October 5th.
I mean, this season, it doesn't matter at all.
Just enjoy yourselves.
They're having a blast.
The sharks, I will say this.
This is kind of the best comp I can give it.
You know how we were all going.
We all think the sharks are better.
Yeah.
And we're going, are they like nasty better?
Are they, we're definitely a playoff team, but we're a four seed better.
Are they not better?
We don't know yet.
You know, when you, this is the best example.
I'm coming up with. You know when you hit a put and you go, I think this is the line. And then
immediately you're like, oh, no, it's not because it's breaking way more than I thought.
That's how quickly I know the sharks are nasty this year. And they did make the jump.
Like, you know what I mean? I was like, I hope the sharks are good this year. That'd be really fun.
And immediately, I'm like, oh, I am. I think tonight, listen, I'm, I'm, our next segment is who's got us horny.
Yeah. And the sharks are listed as a potential. I think tonight is going to be a big time statement on
if I believe.
They're going to win in overtime.
I won't like that.
I will.
I need them to win in regulation to show that they're like really closing games out.
No, they are going to win this game in overtime and it's going to be insane.
But Lute made me take the Star's money line.
Well, then you're a fool and so is Luke.
Shit.
Okay, here's my next one.
Okay.
My beloved Toronto Maple Leafs, who I believe in more than anything.
This is, yeah, okay.
I don't.
Leaves fans are so mad at.
for this. Because I believe in them? No, because you're overreacting. This is, this is Tuesday
morning overreactions, but you're, you're overreacting. Heavy Leap? Like, in our tears, you made us
put them in, like, disaster start. People were like, what? The Leifes are horrific. And they have
literally only beaten the Islanders who are not good. Disagree. I think the Islanders are not good.
The Leafs have only beaten the Islanders. They barely won that game. And Bob is terrible. And
old and can't play anymore. And Gavin McKenna, it should be at Penn State. And everything that I
thought that I believed in is wrong. Are they going to move to Atlanta and be the Thrasher? There's
actually going to be two Atlanta teams. And one is going to have to be the Thrasher's again.
And one is the Phoenix. And everyone is going to like the Phoenix more because it's cooler.
Are the Leifes your ride or die team? No, but I just, I picked them to be. You wanted them to
be. I wanted them so badly. The Leaps. They're one of the worst teams I've ever seen.
No, no, no.
Dude, they've got, listen, Gavin McKenna started slow in college.
It would make sense if he starts a little bit slow to start this year.
And he's going to catch fire at the end of the half and the latter half of the year.
No one worry about that.
I need it to happen so.
Willie looks amazing.
Poppy's on the score sheet.
Marchenko's on the score sheet.
Well, you got rid of Maddie Nyes, who's your third best player.
Your third best player is on the blue jacket, so that sucks.
And then...
Easton Cowan looks amazing.
Yeah, that's actually...
Easton Cowan looks amazing.
That's actually really good.
I really happy about that.
Yeah.
And I also don't know.
I haven't really got to see.
the Leafs games yet, but Gavin McKenna, I hate everything on my timeline is like,
Gavin McKenna's five-on-five play is the worst rating in the history of stats. And, you know,
it's just so annoying and it's, like, it must suck to be, we went through this run of really
hyped first picks. Yeah. Really, really hyped first picks. And all of them were pretty good,
pretty fast. And I feel bad for him if he starts really slow because it just, in that market especially,
because it's just so annoying. It's going to be annoying. But he's,
McFerda, he's...
He's a man.
He's got cowhide skin.
He's fine.
That's not going to get to him.
He's going to be great.
Leif's fans, don't worry.
Chris had you going higher than I did, but I'm, I'm unfaced.
I think you're going to be...
You're on-faced because you had them seventh, and you're like, yeah, they're going to finish seven.
No, no, but I'm saying I think they're...
You're like, I'm dead on.
But seven is two.
Yeah, yeah, right.
As we talked about, in the Atlantic, the difference between two and eight means, or two and seven means nothing.
So you're, I also had you second.
They're going to, the leaves are going to close like a freight train.
So it's, don't worry.
But if you don't, if you think this isn't a disaster start, then you don't know ball at all.
It is time to overreact.
My last overreaction, we have an update on a missing person's report.
Elias Pedersen has been found.
Did they take a goal away from him?
Elias Pedersen is back in game one.
I think so.
I swear I saw him get a high tip on one of those power play goals.
And then in the second order.
He scored again, and I was looking at
NHL.com, and he said,
Elias Pedersen, parentheses, one, end parentheses,
meaning it was his first goal of year, and I was like, he scored last game.
Elias Pedersen is
tied for third in the NHL and points.
How many goals? He has six points
in four games.
He is throwing his body around like a
wrecking ball. He looks like that
barking black chain ball
from Mario 64.
That's what he looks.
looks like. I think two games in a row he had eight hits. He should go his out for Halloween.
And he's just he's he's absolutely blowing people up. Do you think if you guy looks like a fucking
freight train. I'm talking carnival level expert level face painter. Do you think if you with a shaved
head, PD in this case, got perfect artwork of that, uh, I think it's a dog like that like
what are those call? Evan, will you look those can, those barking cannonballs up? What are they called?
There's surely a name.
They call things Gumbas in that world.
Yeah, yeah.
I actually just watched Mario Galaxy, like, on the plane.
So I saw, I saw it.
Was there a barking cannonball?
It's called a chain chomp.
Yeah.
Okay, so if you...
I'm going to be honest, not the most creative name, but I like the alliteration.
If you went exactly as that for Halloween, where you got carnival-level face paint
with the mouth open so you could see all the teeth with red, you know, and everything,
would you get in trouble?
for how much black paint is on your phone.
That could be potentially problematic.
Would people be like, dude, you can't do that?
Now, I think the move is to get like a circular sort of enclosure.
Do the teeth over your head and then your head is inside of it.
Yeah, exactly.
A dead mouse head and you're okay.
Okay, but if you painted that on your face.
I think it depends on the ratio of teeth to red open mouth versus the black cannonball.
If he's really open, I think you're okay.
I'm fine.
I mean, think about Darth mall.
Think about Darth mall face paint.
There's a lot of red in there.
There's a lot of red in there.
Yeah.
So if you get a lot of teeth and tongue showing, I think you're okay.
If Petey stays this hot up until Halloween,
I'm going to formally request that he goes as a chain shop for Halloween.
I think Petey, he is, he looks like the juggernaut out there.
Dude, that's awesome.
He's not.
He's blowing people up like TNT.
Yeah.
And he is just.
pumping in points,
just rattling everyone
with how good the Canucks are,
he's back.
He's back.
A hundred point PD is so bad.
It's actually really cool.
It's fucking awesome.
It's really cool.
I think he is slightly losing his hair
and I think that that is motivating him
in an angry way.
And he's like all this fucking stress
you motherfuckers put me under the last few years.
I'm losing my hair.
He's a Swedish god,
one of the better hockey players on planet Earth.
And you guys made him lose his hair.
That's why,
That's why he's beating the piss out of everybody.
People are like, oh, Pedy's too thin, he's too weak.
He's six foot three, and he's shit pumping guys.
Pete's back.
Petey's back and the Canucks are...
You all made a huge mistake.
Are fun.
I'll say that.
They're a blast.
Shout out our dog, Paul Cotter.
Yeah, it's an animal.
You know who is Pedi's tied with for third in the league in points?
Paul Carter.
Four tucks.
It's going to score fucking 80 this year.
It's insane.
Ridiculous.
God, he gets 80.
Do you have any other overreactions or should we get to horny?
Yeah, not really.
Because, you know, I'll get to some of them in ride or die.
So horned up, sharks for sure.
Yeah, who's got us horny?
The sharks for sure.
Yeah.
Two OT wins, beating a division rival.
All the boys are buzzing.
We talked about how good Will Smith was going to be this year.
He's coming for that fucking ka-ching-cha-chek.
And he's going to get that fucking thing.
The mammoth have early hype have delivered, right?
We said, God, they're the team that everyone's riding.
Yeah.
You do not want to slow stuff.
start after that and the mammoth have come out looking really good,
almost too good to get a hellabuck.
You know, like if they start too good and they're going to go, we don't need you.
I hated, though, their, what was that?
Yeah, it was Sunday's game.
Four to lost to the Rangers.
Well, the Rangers are incredible.
Who are, we're winning the Cup.
Oh, dude, the Rangers are so good.
Breaking News.
We're winning the Cup.
Yep.
Uh, had an empty net goal, but, um, also, how about Schmaltzy?
Fortux.
It's incredible.
Guys, a fucking beautician.
Uh, but yeah, we'll, we'll talk about the Rangers in a second.
Don't you worry, uh, my blue shirt, brethren.
But, uh, I, I felt like that was a game that they probably wanted, but it's in MSG.
I think they look great.
Maybe too good to get a hellabuck, but I got it.
What I love a hellabuck on that time.
Dude, it would change, Dan, it would change everything.
It could potentially change it.
It would change the entire cores of the league.
It is genuinely terrifying to think about, but it could absolutely change everything.
And then...
Gunther's got five points on the power play alone already.
I mean, for fuck's sake.
But yeah, I'm horny for them.
I do...
Sometimes I feel bad saying I'm horny for the odds-on favorite best team in the West,
but I'm horny for Colorado.
The abs look very good.
I know that the kings were a little scrappy and getting goals and all that,
But at the end of the day, the abs have lampooned everyone they've played.
And it's just like, let's go to their last game.
Was that also Sunday?
No, Saturday.
When they beat the Blues 6 to 1, when I look at that game and the Blues,
who as we saw, great game against Dallas, the Blues are pretty good.
When the abs come out and it's just like McCar goal, Nateschus goal, Lekin'n in third goal of the year,
Natchez another goal, Nates all over the stat sheet, and their games.
game so far. That is when I'm just like this, how are you not horny for this team? They are,
they're so, also dude, Lekinen might score 50 this year. Yes. And I fucking said it in our preview.
I was like, that dude, you worry about losing Nishushkin. Don't worry because Lekanin is right there.
And now he is like your top line guy and there's no like, well, if Val comes back, I don't know,
he's just the guy now. And boom, already has three goals. And I'm like, holy shit. We're fine.
we were joking that the abs last year went on that historic start and i don't know there's i don't
if it tired them out or whatever but it adds a little extra pressure and we we were like this year
they don't need to go on a 22 game home points trigger no one cares and now i'm like oh actually
they're going to do that again they actually are going to not lose a home game till after fucking new
years again and then make another run at the all-time single season points record yeah that's how good
they are. Yeah. It's, it's, I, I, I, we, we had some comments from some of our Aves fans friends that we just sit on our, rest on our laurels because they're too good and we don't stroke them off enough. So let it be known that we are big Aves guys. Yeah. We're big Denver guys. And this team has me horny for sure. They're very good. So this will just kind of bring us into our ride or die updates. Yeah, quick ride or die updates. I try to do this every episode. Yep. Well, we can maybe do it once a week. Yeah. This could be top of the week. My teams are incredible.
You're unbelievable.
I have the best team.
I'm an incredible fan.
But unfortunately for you,
my team is my,
one of my rider dies is winning the cup,
which is great for me.
You do,
you have won the cup.
I have already won the cup.
You have to beat two of my teams
on the way to the cup.
That's true.
And I have the penguins.
Evan and I have the penguins.
Two and out.
Fucking hammered.
There's my hot take.
Malkin's going to get 30 goals this year.
I like that.
Wow, I really like that.
He could do it.
He's got two already.
So for those,
the rider die is new this season.
Each of us has a team in the division that we're riding or dying with.
And every week, we'll do our ride or die updates,
and we have to determine if we're going to do a gas up or a spin zone for the team.
Yep.
So here we go.
Mine is all gas, no brakes.
Yeah.
The penguins picked up right where they left off, which means, I'm expecting that midseason dip
where we all go, oh, no, it was all fake.
Yeah, it'll be around December.
And then they come back, and then they go, oh, psych, never mind.
We're golden.
Penguins are incredible.
Crosby 100 points, Malkin 30 goals.
and give me the flyers again,
if.
Give me the flyers
in the first round again.
That was,
I watched that game
when we beat him
7-0 and I was like,
can we make this the extra game
that we could have had
at the playoffs last year?
Yeah.
Can we swap this with game?
Yeah, whatever it was,
we fucked up.
Shit kicking.
Unbelievable.
The ducks are also 2 and O
beat Vegas and beat the cats
and we already talked about this.
I mean,
suck it to everybody.
After all that shit talk all summer.
The ducks are.
so up. It's unbelievable.
They're incredible and they
turns out that they are
deranged enough to feed off of this. I didn't know if they
had that in them but they do and now they
are fueled by hate. The ducks are
Sith lords and that's incredible. The Minnesota
Wilde, unbelievable. Beat the Preds,
beat the Bruins, beat the Bruins pretty soundly
and the Bruins are good.
Yep. And the Wild are,
they look fantastic.
They look like a team that
wants all the smoke
that they, all the hype that they had last year
where they were like, dude, I'll go toe to toe with anybody, and they're like, let's do it again.
I don't even fucking care if Quinn's leaving at the end of the year.
We're going to fucking make a run at it right now.
I think Quinn looks so locked in, and I think they're rallying around favor.
Yeah.
I really do.
Those are two great wins.
Dude, remember when, not that I'm making a joke out of this, because I'm not.
This isn't funny.
Okay?
But I do think that remember when Zook took a puck to the dick and dented his cup?
Do you remember this?
Yes.
And then they made that the player of the game trophy.
Yes.
I do think we need to get one of those like science class, eighth grade science class
skulls, human skulls.
Put a fracture in it.
Put a fracture in it and make the player of the game award.
Okay.
Matt, can I pitch on your pitch?
Yeah.
Or, you know, when babies are born with soft skulls and sometimes they have to wear those
little helmets.
Yeah.
You get a wild branded skull helmet.
Yeah.
And that goes to the player of the game.
Yeah.
However, a
Just a
You know what I'm saying?
A Mr. Bones
Was that our elementary school
Gym class?
I mean, it's Halloween.
They got skulls all over CVS.
Just get a skull and put a fracture in it
And that's, it would actually be kind of sick
Like player of the game just gets to hold the skull
You put it up in your stall.
They should cut it the top off
And you drink out of the top.
That's incredible.
Also cool.
So yeah.
Who the fuck are you, dude?
Danny McBride from This is the End.
Yeah.
I'm muller.
Lerom from Temple of Doom.
Bad guy.
So I do need a player of the game skull in Minnesota,
and then I think we could take that all the way.
That or the soft skull helmet needs to be happening in Minnesota,
and if you're not doing that.
And we're not making a joke.
Yeah, yeah.
It is not funny.
We are celebrating the strength of a countryman.
Yeah.
So that's what we're doing.
We love you.
And then the only team,
the only team that had to be a little rattle was the Sabres
because they lost to the Blue Jackets,
and then they were kind of getting dummied by the Hawks for a second there,
and I was like, oh, my God.
This is not good.
But the Sabres came all the way back with a little help from the Bama Boys,
who hit their 18th barn, father and son duo, went to the Sabres home opener, drank out of the
fucking beer saber, and got the Sabres a home opener dub.
Fucking right.
So everyone in Buffalo, thank you to our friends, the Bama Boys, on their tour of the
NHL, Sabers 1 in 1.
And you're fine.
You're fine.
Okay.
My rider dies.
I'm going to start with the Spunk.
Seattle Spunk.
Seattle Cracking.
We're two and one.
and a lot of people are saying
you played the flames twice
and the flames are terrible
but you know what I'll say is
you have to win games that you have to win
and so far
I'm looking at the schedule
and I saw the flames twice and the Oilers
once and I go like this
that's two wins and a loss
and guess what we're two and one
so on schedule
it's all gas up right now
the Spunk are on schedule
had some nasty goals
players looking great
I feel fucking good
I feel really good
I think decor'd looks awesome
So suck me.
Spunk are, we're brewing.
I'm going to go to the Central to the Dow Stars and spin zone.
Yeah.
Okay?
We got shut out in the home opener.
We got embarrassed.
Then we go to Nashville and lose 2-1.
But let me tell you this.
We have by 100% technically improved our goals from the first.
first game. Yes. Infinity percent. We've scored infinitely more goals than we did in the first game.
So how about that? Maybe we just keep doubling it up. Yeah. And I think we're also mad, like we said.
Yes. And at the end of the day, a two-one loss is not fun, but that's also only giving up two goals.
And Dan, if only someone could come into town to change the mojo, how about that? That'd be great.
See you Friday. We've got you off the bandwagon. Yeah, I'm gone. Respectfully. Yep. See you a little.
But Dallas, we're fine.
I think we needed this.
I think we as Dallas stars fans needed a little bit of humble pie.
We needed a little bit of motivation to go every year,
the Dallas Stars coming and go, we're one of the best teams in the league,
and then every year they are.
But we start the season 0 and 2 for a little bit of a kick in the dick.
Whoa.
And we go, dude, fucking buckle up.
Because you know what we look at is the Colorado Avalanche being easy 2-0.
And it's like, no, no, no, no.
And the Minnesota Wild.
easy to a now. And this will not stand.
Here's a spin zone. This is the motivation we needed.
Who would you say has been the star's daddy in playoffs?
Uh, the knights? Not the aves.
No, but it's the oilers. Oh, yeah, of course.
The Oilers have been the Stars Daddy, and the Stars every year start great, and every year the Oilers start 0 and 10.
and the stars finally got smart.
Look at the Oilers, two and one.
Follow the model.
Follow the model.
I have an idea.
Try Ointan on for size.
And then when you see the Oilers
in the Western Conference finals,
you will dick them down now.
Thank you for that spin zone assist.
You're welcome.
I'm going to move to the Atlantic
for another spin zone.
Yep.
My Florida Panthers.
I've never left you.
I've always been with you.
We are 102 and 2.
Yep.
Totally fine with that.
It's okay.
What do you mean?
It's okay.
It's what I mean.
One on two, four points from three games.
Fine with that.
Sasha Barkoff is out for 10 to 12 weeks.
Not okay.
Not okay.
Spin zone, thank God it's not the full season.
Spin zone, Brad Marshand is back.
Spin zone, let Sasha rest as you should have, get healthy, come back, full Sasha for the latter half of the season.
We don't need to win the division.
We never have.
Spin zone, we're going to be fine.
Brady Kachuk's got to get good.
going a little bit here. And I think the added pressure of we get Pomo, looks at Brady and goes,
hey, listen, pal, I know you're thrilled to be here with your brother. I know you're throwing the
body around. That's good and that's great. But Bar Cubs out. We need everyone to step up. Now's
your time to shine. There's great opportunity for Brady Cucke here. Panthers are going to be
good. I like it. And now the biggest gass up of all time, congratulations to the 2026, 27,
Stanley Cup champion New York Rangers. Who have I long said as the best goaltender in the National
hockey league.
Shesty.
Who is the leading goal scorer
among goaltender in the NHL?
Shesty.
How nasty has he looked?
Dude, he has two points
through four games.
He's a goal and assist.
He's on a point streak.
He currently is on an active point streak.
That is so awesome.
Dude, I want to say to you about that play, by the way,
that was a bold
play.
He almost hit the fucking Jumbotron.
And dude, yeah, first of all, he sent that to the fucking
move.
It was incredible.
When he let that go, I bet he was like this.
I put it over.
Yeah, yeah.
He was like, oh, shit.
I skied it.
Second of all, that puck ricocheted into the slot.
He came, there was traffic.
Oh, it was insane.
He jumped into the slot and made a bit at that without any time.
It was such a horny decision by him.
It was awesome.
He looked like sway.
Yeah.
He was out of control being like this, I got to get this goal.
Which I thought was amazing.
Yeah.
So I gave him a ton of credit for that because that was a snipe job and in a high danger area.
That was really cool.
So he must be frothing at the mouth.
Yeah, he needs one.
So my rags, my, actually, excuse me, my Rangers.
Yep.
Lost to the Bruins, looked a little toothless.
Yeah.
Then come back and clap the bolts.
Yeah.
And I was like, fucking, here we go.
Beat the wings, as they should.
Scheduled win.
And then beat the manath.
Yep.
Not scheduled.
Yeah, yeah.
Great fucking stuff.
Gabe is all over the place.
It looks amazing.
Our boy, Ramps, looks like a fucking hell diver out there.
Gabby got the opening goal last night.
Rangers winning the Cup.
And dude, that's the gas up, baby.
That will throw.
Blue shirts, we're fucking all over your shit.
Metropolitan Division, everyone wants to talk about the fucking Stanley Cup champs last year.
You want to talk about the caps making all that moves.
People put us out to pasture, took us behind the shed and put a fucking bullet in our heads,
and they thought that we were dead.
But guess what?
The world revolves around one city, and that's New York City.
And it's the best arena in the fucking world, not just the NHL, the entire fucking planet.
And the blue shirts are here to rip your fucking throats out and play them like an ocarina of time and win the Stanley Cup this year.
So strap the fuck in, folks.
If you don't like it, we're going Knicks.
We're going Rangers in the same fucking calendar year.
Bing-Bong, how's your life?
Here we go, Rangers.
Here we go.
Wow.
Rangers won the cup.
I need to take a break.
I need a fucking cigarette.
Let's get into a beer league hotline to close this episode out.
Dr. Watkins, what do we got?
I made a questionable bet with the ringer on our team.
For every goal he scores, I shotgun a beer.
For every goal I score, he shotguns three beers.
Multi-gold games for him are pretty common,
and I haven't tucked one in since we made the bet half a year ago.
So we made an addition to the bet that if I score a deliberate own goal,
it counts and he owes three shotguns.
Only thing is our goal he doesn't know about this edition.
Do I bite the bullet and rip one past our tendee?
when would be the right time to do it
and how do you think the opposing team will react?
How will our tending react?
The whole team really wants our ringer to have shotgun
so we need to figure this out.
Are you driving to games?
You can do one.
Well, it sounds like this guy has multiple multi-goal games.
You can shotgun two beers.
You could probably shotgun three beers.
How unenjoyable is...
So let's say...
The post game pops when you're just like...
Let's say this guy scored.
two goals. And you have driven to the game. You go into the locker room and then immediately
shotgun two beers and then sit in the locker room for two hours. Yeah, with your boys just hang out.
That doesn't sound that fun. Yeah. So one, I pray your Ubering to games. Yep. Let's assume they are.
Two, are you enjoying postgame pops? Because that's not enjoyable. I think if you're the type of guy
making this bet, you enjoy a nice shot. Yeah, it also sounds like you like shotgunting beers.
Yeah, yeah. Like this guy goes, I made, they made the bet. It's not. It's a lot.
The ringer.
This is like, when someone's like, here's, dude, crazy bet, crazy bet.
If you score a bunch of goals to the best player on the team, you have to tickle my feet after
the games.
Yeah, yeah.
Like, this guy has a fetish for shotgunning beers.
So he goes to the best player on the team.
Boys, I made such a questionable bet.
Can you believe that?
They're like, no one made you do that.
You brought this up.
You brought this bet up.
What are you talking about?
So this guy loves shotguning beers, and I'm glad you're getting what you like in life.
That's cool.
The team, though, needs to see the ringer.
a shotguns and beers and this guy has the self-awareness that he is
quite literally never going to score. He's talking about firing in own goals
being the only chance besides actually scoring one. I'll be honest, I don't like
this at all. My mentality is go score a goal. Okay, I have two things. One, I think the ringer
as a man of integrity should be working hard to set up our guy here. Set him up. You know,
do your thing, wheel it in around the zone and then hit our boy back door to your own detriment
to three shotguns on your head post game.
But people will clap for you and go,
that's a man of honor.
Okay, so that's what I want the ringer to do.
In lieu of that, to answer the man's question,
we need to be up.
In my opinion, God, Beer League leads evaporate.
I think we need to be up four.
At least.
Or it's you have a over or three or more goal lead
and there's less than three minutes left in the game.
Even that is scary.
Because it is kind of crazy if like with three minutes left
you put in an own goal and now it's only a two goal
you can lose that game. You could lose that game in regulation.
Correct. So I think you need to be up for. And then for me personally
I think it needs to be
cartoonish. I need to come down on a
get out of my brain. Like I want you to have offensive zone
possession. Maybe this guy plays D and you get the puck at the top of
your own zone. Turn around. And you turn around and go on a full ice
breakaway and dig your goalie out. And you know,
could be very fun. Eventually, your attendee catches wind of what's happening here. And then it turns
into a, you've got a lead and now he's sharp about it. And he's like, this dude's going to try to put one
in the net. To see this guy get the puck at the ozone point, turn around and come down on a
breakaway on his own goalie and watch his goalie square up. People would be like, what is happening
right now? I think the other team, you're lucky that the other team is just going to kind of laugh and be in
pure confusion. Because I think that's how I'd react. I'd be like, what the fuck just happened?
But I fear your goalie.
I know plenty of goalies who, if anyone on our team did this, would not react.
Yeah, they'd be like, dude, what fuck is wrong with you?
There's a chance where you do this once.
And if you're stick, you know, the other team's changing.
You've got a little bit of possession in your own zone.
Your stick handling.
And you go, oh, accidentally, you know, flip one past your goaltender.
And he's like, what are you doing?
And you're like, oh, and then in the locker room, you're like, dude.
It was a bet.
I had to shotgun.
I had to get him to shotgun a beer.
Your goalie might go, oh, you idiot.
Yeah.
But then if you do it.
again, I don't think there's any world where a goalie's going to be like this. This is fun for me.
I think he's going to be like, stop what you are doing right now. I want a literal like Zadato Chara
breakaway slap shot. The goalie's like, how the hell are you doing? So I think that's the way out.
And I'm actually here for this dude. I'm here for it one time. I think you do this one time
and make sure the boys are aware. Everyone except the goalie so you can keep it funny. One time.
And then after that, it's on the ringer to start setting you up so he can drink.
Yeah, start evening up the till.
