Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to the Empty Netters podcast. Can you believe what this has become? There was a full 48 hours where I felt like I was like literally Superman. Jumbo loves playing Fortnite, so he gets on the sticks. Did TR show you the sauna cycle or was that all year? No, no, I invented that. Almost a year now that I haven't taken a body check. That's kind of nice.
Starting point is 00:00:20 So we are back. We are horned up and we are going deep. Finish tonight with some chicken fingers and a few guineasas and ran into you guys. That's where this pod came to life. Ice is ready and we're back with another episode of the empty netters podcast brought to you by BetMGM. I'm your host, Dan Powers. We got the doctor in his booth wearing his lab coat. And over here, freshly adorned with some Swedish cheese poofs.
Starting point is 00:00:49 Chris Powers. As always, thank you, Alice. These are gas. And I'll tell you what. I'm a big cheese doodle fan, cheese poof fan. cheese poo fan and like shout out cheetos i i really i really like i like the um the simply ones they're like kind of like white cheddar they're they don't have the orange dust but i like orange dust they sell dustless now pal i know i don't know if i like eating packing peanuts yeah what's
Starting point is 00:01:17 what's on it um let me tell you what man the there's something about these that are that are special the swedish cheese doodles are like there's a there's a tang a twang! A twang! maybe even to the cheese flavor, that's just so good. Is this, does this, there's a lot of Swedish here, and it says Schwergen, Friggen, Klergen, and then it says snacks. Does that imply that snacks is a Swedish word, or is there just a rogue English word?
Starting point is 00:01:46 So my favorite thing about the Swedish language is every now and then, there's just an English word that they're like, whatever. And yeah. This is Snack sedan. Like, I don't even know why we're talking cars here either. Like, this is crazy. The sedan is the snack of an automobile
Starting point is 00:02:03 The Sudan chef rendition of the language you just did Was really special Now are those more pure? Do those have like fewer Chemicals and awesome? I bet I bet it's just cheese dust That's it and whatever is inside of it These are old school too dude The Vikings were eating those on the long cheese
Starting point is 00:02:20 Yeah yeah Can I get a shot of that dude? No please Do I mean to get you one from the fridge? You got a full cooler outside you could have had your own Yeah you're right I gotta get on a plane later I need Yeah true true Good luck sleeping.
Starting point is 00:02:33 We got a great episode today, as it keeps happening more and more news. News. We're getting back in the hockey world. We got a bunch of great stuff. Contract talks, team talks. We've got a great fraud watch and top hits. We've got a beer league hotline. It's Labor Day week.
Starting point is 00:02:52 Let's have a fucking blast. Let's kick things off in Boston. You're flying to Boston tomorrow. Yes, sir. Flying to Boston tomorrow. Yeah, yeah. You guys, I guess you won't see Boston, really. I won't touch Boston.
Starting point is 00:03:01 I will touch New England, though. Oh, yeah. That's the point. We're headed to good buddy. You'll be fucking all over New England, pal. Oh, pal. I'm going to be all over it. I'm going to be on the island.
Starting point is 00:03:11 It's crazy. Dude. We're heading to our great pal Mike Rennell's wedding this weekend. It's going to be an unbelievable time. Quick breaking news popping this up top from Elliott Friedman. Ooh. In an effort to ease the sudden salary cap crunch, the Anaheim Ducks are expected to.
Starting point is 00:03:30 place Chris Kreider on waivers for the purposes of contract termination. Wow. The move, which is happening with Kreider's approval, would make the player an unrestricted free agent once he passes through. According to several sources, Kreider has indicated his desire to return east, closer to family where he spent the first 13 years of his career and will not report if claimed somewhere he prefers not to play. Damn, dude.
Starting point is 00:03:51 And that actually makes sense from talking to him when, because when he got to Cali, we were like, dude, is this sick? And he was like, yeah, it's gorgeous. Yeah. So I'm bummed that he's, but I totally get it because he's like, he's an East Coast boy. He has this season remaining on his current contract at $6.5 million cap hit, but only $4 million in cash still do after being paid a signing bonus on July 1st. And dude, that is a, obviously, a direct ricochet off of Leo's contract. Like, if that hadn't happened, you still have Chris Kreider.
Starting point is 00:04:21 And this is, you know, just the first, first of many dominoes, I'm sure, because of that contract. Yeah. Sources say that there was trade attempts, but he did not like the trade options presented to him, specifically sweeteners. He might have to include to get it done. So, yeah. Where do you think he goes? You know, it would be, I'm sure Rangers fans would absolutely love to have him back. Totally.
Starting point is 00:04:46 That would utterly blow my mind based on what we have heard and, you know, what we've learned. I think that that would be special to see for Rangers fans. but, you know, they also only have like 900K in cap space. East to me means New York and above. Agree. Come home, dude. Take that with what you will. Come home.
Starting point is 00:05:11 I would not be shocked if he, you know, Tampa has 3.2. Oh, yeah. That feels like a perfect spot for him. Can't be Florida. I mean, Boston would be perfect. It would be so fucking. It would be so cool to see him finally in Boston. That would make me so happy.
Starting point is 00:05:31 Buffalo makes a lot of sense. But again, that's not like that. Yeah, yeah. East. You're obviously way closer. Yeah, yeah. The Islanders. Oh, that would kill Rangers fans, but that would be really fun for him.
Starting point is 00:05:42 The Islanders would be very cool. The Devils would be very cool. Also kill Ranger fans, but I'd be pumped about all those. Cap-wise, that would be tough for the devils. But, yeah, I mean, I think we're going to see CRIDS end up in the tri-state area or above. is what I would guess. Damn. I cannot see a world where he goes to a Canada team.
Starting point is 00:06:01 And this will happen fast, dude, so I'm excited. Absolutely. I mean, contract termination is shocking. But this is just another shoe to drop in the, my God, Pat for Beak, you fucked up so bad. Yes, exactly. So, so, so bad. I can't even begin to understand it. So, yeah, we'll keep our eyes peeled on that.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Breaking news as we were recording. Contract termination for Chris Kreider in Anaheim. see where that ends up. Wow. So let's talk some Boston right now. Fraser Minton. Boston surprises the hockey world with the Fraser Minton extension, seven years, 7.2 mill A-A-A-V. Fraser Minton last year,
Starting point is 00:06:39 82 games, 17 goals, 18 assists, 35 points, and a plus 21 season high for rookies. Finished 10th in Calder voting. Lots chatter about this contract. This came through and I immediately was like this phenomenal, fantastic. And then I saw, people online dogging this contract. And you know what? I'm going to be a little spicy today on the
Starting point is 00:07:01 pod. Yes. The majority of those people talking shit, Leafs fans. Hey, Leafs fans, do me a favor. Keep Fraser Minton's name out of your fucking mouth. And I've never seen anything more clearly jealous of the fact that you idiots gave Fraser Minton to Boston. And you're so mad that that happened that now you're going to go like this, this is a bad contract. I don't even understand. I guess I am the sadistic sports fan where when we trade someone away when one of my teams
Starting point is 00:07:34 trade someone away some young prospect and then they're awesome I'm like good we're fucking so dumb you know it actually brings me joy and fuels my fire when we have fucked up and I know a lot of sports fans
Starting point is 00:07:48 are the opposite of that so I understand I can understand that mental capacity what I don't get is what are they saying because he had a good year and this is a very modest contract. Yeah, I'll tell you this. What I'm seeing a lot and you see it a lot from some of the dorky journals online to people are being like the potential contract is so hot in the league right now.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Everyone's paying for potential. And listen, that is fair and that is true. I think that's not a new thing though. Like that happens all the time. My point is this. It's not very modest, but it's like this isn't... I disagree. I think it is very modest.
Starting point is 00:08:30 And my, because my take is, someone said, like, if this was two years ago, based on the percentage of the cap, this contract would have been like a $4.9 million deal. Yeah. I'm like this. Yeah. That's great. And my take is, dude, yes, you can complain about the potential contract in terms of, oh, a guy who just had 35 points and 17 goals is not worth 7.2 million dollars.
Starting point is 00:08:57 I mean, how old is he? He just turned 22. Okay, yeah. So my take is in today's NHL, right, how many people go, we talked about this couple episodes ago, in X amount of years, this contract's going to be a steal. I'm here to say this. Fraser Minton is newly 22 years old, finished 10th in Calder voting last year. And this is the other thing. Fraser Minton is not a, oh, I need him to be a 100-point guy. He was 21 last season and was one of the, in my opinion, one of the best two-way centers on that Boston team, a team that needs centers. And he has a ton of potential to be one of the best in the division. Like, he is a very good two-way guy, played 82 games. My thought process is right now he is making $879,000 for this upcoming season.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Yep. If Fraser Minton has 50 points this year, that is worth $7.2 million in today's NHL. Bro, you took the words out of my mouth with how many people have been going. Put it this way. If Kail McCar's $20.4 million is going to look like a bargain in three years, if that's the narrative that we're doing about contracts and the cap, which we've spoken about already, but whatever, if that's the narrative, then surely $7.2 also looks not expensive in two. to three years. So could it ball up? Oh yeah. If he regresses, dude, if he
Starting point is 00:10:27 plateaus, if he stays a 35 point guy, even though, you know, 15 tux is not nothing, but if he stays a 35 point guy, I will go, yeah, that's probably a little high, whatever. I mean, but if he progresses at all, I'm like, this is pretty right on the nose of
Starting point is 00:10:43 what you want. You've got 31 year old Elias Lindholm. This is, Boston needs centers. Boston is centers away from being a, a, ooh, you could go to the Eastern Conference Final type of team. You have 31-year-old Elias Lindholm, who I love, think is a great player, and I keep wanting him to, you know, burst out in Boston. But he hasn't really yet.
Starting point is 00:11:04 Last year, 69 games, 17 goals, same as Minton. Yeah. 31 assists for 48 points, not much more, and a dash 7. And he's playing power play. He's playing with guys like pasta. He's playing with guys like geeky. You've got Minton, who essentially, all season played with the kid line.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Yeah. And they're calling that. It was like him, who's Nadinov, Hagen's was playing with him, towards the end there. And Hagen's also a guy that I'm like,
Starting point is 00:11:32 he's going to only get better. I think who's Nadinov's only going to get better. So let's say he even stays on that line. But I think the absolute idea and goal here is Minton is now your second, maybe in the future first line center. I think second is probably more realistic.
Starting point is 00:11:48 But he's like, he's a crachie. Like I think that is the type of play. that you're kind of looking at and I'm like, you're telling me that paying this kid till he's 29 years old, 7.2 isn't worth it. And I'm telling you this. Again, if he gets 50 points this year, that is worth this contract. I can't believe there is anyone. In fact, dude, he probably, if he hadn't signed an extension now, played next year and had 50 points, I bet the contract he signs then is worth more than this. And then people can start bitching. But I bet he, I bet this is a discount
Starting point is 00:12:20 if he has that season, which is huge. And the term, like you said, is amazing because there's a million universes where he goes, give me a four-year deal, give me a five-year deal at around this number legitimately. And then he goes, and now he's 26, 27, and then he's taking a fat ticket. And now you have him for term till 29, which is 2030, really, which is incredible. Something I'll say about Boston, Boston continues to be in this interesting limbo space where I'm like, Agree. They had a great retool.
Starting point is 00:12:53 They absolutely did. They made playoffs last year when a lot of people after the marshy trade were like, they're probably going to spiral into not being in playoffs for a long time. They miss playoffs one year. Yeah. Like it's very impressive. And you look at this team and we talk about all the time now, all of these teams who have so many people locked up to like really big tickets for a long time.
Starting point is 00:13:15 It's hard. The Boston Bruins only have one player over 10 months. million dollars. That's pasta who is absolutely worth it. We called him the other day, in my opinion, the best winger in the national. Pasta makes 11.25 until 2031. Like, lock the fuck up. After that, the next highest paid forward on the team is Lindel at 7.75. You then have JJ Petrka, who you just picked up at 7.7 until 2030. Then you have Casey Middleset at 5.7. Morgan geeky at 5.5 until 2031. Yeah, wow. Like, that is a great pickup for Morgan. Zaka is at 4.7, only one year left. And then, yes, again, after this season, Minton will be at 7.2. He will be just after
Starting point is 00:14:04 JJ. Yeah. But I'm like, that's great work. I agree. Because these guys are signed for a long time. And what's interesting, dude, is you got to keep eyes on middle stat and Zaka this year. both of those guys, certainly Zaka, will want a bump, a big pay bump. The question is, do you pay Pabelsak, 29-year-old Pavlzaka that? Do you give him what I guarantee will be a seven-year deal from someone? Because Pavlzaka has just performed every single season in Boston. Nothing bad to say about him. Do you trade Pabelsaka and do you try to, you know, play more of a, okay, build for future?
Starting point is 00:14:38 Because this is where you get in trouble. Do you go, Pavellazaka's worth it? What will Zaka get? Probably $8 million, I would guess. He makes 4.7 right now. He's 29 years old after this season, maybe during the season. Do you extend him? He's going to want seven years because he's going to want the really only big payday he's ever gotten. Yep. Or do you go, nope, we're going to move you for somebody, hopefully get someone with term. And we're going to hope that a Hagen's or a Dean Laterno becomes that center guy because we'd rather save that money and pay them in two years. That is a very interesting question, middle stat falls in the same category. Only 27 years old makes 5.7, he'll want a pay increase. So Boston is like, I think this is a phenomenal deal. And I think Sweeney has been good at that. I think giving contracts is something that Sweeney has done well, in my opinion. The fact that you have McAvoy signed until 2030 at 9.5 is another great example. but it's like the deal you gave to geeky and now Minton, I'm like two thumbs up, dude.
Starting point is 00:15:49 Again, I can't believe anyone has anything to say about the Minton. I think it's an unbelievable contract. Yeah, I have not, those people are jealous. That's as simple as that. The Bruins are in a really interesting run because you go, you look at the roster management contract, view the contract lens alone. Yeah. And I go, you're right.
Starting point is 00:16:10 But then I go, I'm trying to think of a good example. I mean, honestly, like kind of the bees of the past. They had incredible contracts handed out to elite players. And now the Bruins have incredible contracts handed out, but to like pretty good players. You know? And I'm like, and dude, some teams have horrible contracts handed out to only pretty good players. So that's way worse, right? It could be worse.
Starting point is 00:16:38 Yep. You'd rather, thank God you're not. that swing. But I am like, man, the talent level is not as competitive as some other teams, in my opinion. Top and talent. It's interesting. Let's go to Zaka. Zaka was traded one for one with New Jersey for Hala. Hala went to Jersey. They got Zaka back. Since joining Boston, Zaka has gone 82 games, 21 goals, 36 assists, 57 points, plus 26. 78 games. 78 games. 21 goals, 38 assists, 59 points plus 12. 82 games, 14 goals, 33 assists, 47 points, dash 8.
Starting point is 00:17:19 That was the bad year. That was the year they missed playoffs, traded Marchand. Last year, 78 games, 30 goals, 35 assists, 65 points plus 4. Jesus. Great season. And frankly, at his number, 30 tucks and 65 points. Like that is one of the best performances compared to your salary in the N. That is correct. And what pisses me off is if I'm Pavel Zaka, I'm playing in Boston with my countrymen.
Starting point is 00:17:48 Yeah. Playing incredibly well. Everyone in Boston loves Zaka. You're one of the hottest dudes in the league. If you're Pavel Zaka, you're going, I have done everything to stay here and to earn a contract. And I'm sure he loves it there. And I'm like I am saying everyone in Boston, all the players love him. That was another thing I wanted to mention with Minton. You know what? I, I, a great sign is. The second he signed that, a lot of big dogs on the team posting about it. Sway posted about it. HAMP posted about it. It's like,
Starting point is 00:18:19 that is such a good sign of like, you have veterans on the team being like fucking rights. Oh yeah. Like that is a, this kid is worth every fucking money. Back to Zaka. I am very torn as a person who loves Boston about this guy.
Starting point is 00:18:34 Yeah. Because that is a guy that I'm like, you, like, what the fuck you've earned it? And yes. How often do we talk about not to sewer anybody, but players of the past who perform incredibly well, and we all go, it's because of who they're playing with. And then a team gives them a fat ticket and you're like, that's not going to work.
Starting point is 00:18:55 Yeah, not Boleski. Yeah. Played again. Yeah, yeah. I remember well. Great NHL career. Yeah. But played incredibly well in Anaheim because he was playing with future Hall of Famers.
Starting point is 00:19:05 And then Boston overpaid him and he never really matched that same status. I think there's a world where other teams are curious about that with Zaka. Because it's almost unfair to look at his time in Jersey as like, you know, he was really like a 25 to 35 point guy. But he was also, he was fucking 19 years old. Yeah, yeah. You know, when he came to Boston, he was 25. So he's come into his own. And I think the question is, is he performing this well and getting better every year because he's playing with pasta?
Starting point is 00:19:35 Or is this Pavel Zaka? Yeah. And my take is, and we always talk about, dude, like, you're, the, I, for me, unless you are a freak, like, McDavid and Celebrini, your prime in the NHL is almost like 27 to 35. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And like, Zaka's in it. Yep. And yes, I think Zaka has earned a seven-year contract. And that's tough. He's 29 years old. Are you like, yeah, we're going to give Pavel Zaka. a contract till he's 36 years old? Or are you like, I don't want to do that? But it's like, he's earned that. So do you go, you are playing here with these guys and you're getting better every year? We want to keep you here because you clearly play well with these guys and we want to see you keep getting better.
Starting point is 00:20:25 Or are you like, no, I don't want to give that type of money to a guy who's going to be getting into the latter half of his 30s at the end of it. I know, dude, that's when sports are such a bag. It's brutal. And because, dude, I hope we keep them. But I wish, I think that. I talk about this all the time with term. I wish players would do this more.
Starting point is 00:20:45 And I get it, dude. I get security, of course. But I wish they would be more open to the risk, the stress of short-term deals to get more what they want now. Like, I think if he went, hey, Boston, I'll sign for three years. They're like, how long do you want me for sure? And if Boston was like, three? four years till you're 34, if I'm him, I go, sure, just to be there. And then trust that either Boston will keep giving you one year deals from 34 to 37 or someone will, you know, but instead, guys are like,
Starting point is 00:21:18 I don't want to risk that, so I'm just going to take the security. And I get it. But that's how you usually end up getting punted to a different team, because you're like, oh, shit, they couldn't do the seven. So now I'm on the Preds and we're rebuilding and we stink. And I'm like, ah, sorry. I want to stay on Boston for a little while here. Sure. Because we haven't talked about the ruins in a little bit. I know we have tons of Boston fans. So Boston is sitting at 5.3 mil in cap space. Okay. Okay. Their current line structure. Yeah. Thank you. Is Zaka with Peturka and pasta on the wings. Elias Lindholm with Geeky and Middlestad on the wings. Minton with who's Nadinev and Hagen's on the wings. Yes. Kerali with Jinnoh and Castellick on the wings.
Starting point is 00:22:06 I, guys that aren't in forwards that aren't listed in there. You've got Steve's, who I actually think was great. Great last year. Can you look up Alex Steve's, what his points total were last year? But I loved what he did. And he's on a very nice $1.6 million contract for two more seasons. You got Mikey Isamont, who has been, you know, he'll be a bottom six guy bouncing up and down and there doing really well. Steve's 43 games, nine goals, seven assists, 16 points.
Starting point is 00:22:39 So like, Steve's is interesting to me in like what he can bring to the table. And you've got Bedford, New Hampshire. Yeah. Fucking, fucking rights. And then check out Lucas Reichel because they've got Reichel that they've picked up. And then they've got some of these young dudes. Like we saw Dan's Lachmelis get his, get a little rip in last year. Obviously, Dean Laterno is a big name that people are excited to,
Starting point is 00:23:06 see you've got Maddie Potra who's still an RFA has like we'll figure out what happens with Potra but there's Dean hasn't said anything right sorry Dean hasn't said anything right I don't believe so and someone let us know I don't know I think Dean is going this will be his junior year at BC I believe Dean is going he's going he said I believe so yes um right call 10 games one goal to assist three points plus two Dean Letterno yes returning to Boston College for his junior season. Sweet. That's like a pretty good forward group. Yeah, but I think that's kind of it, though. I think it's better than pretty good. It's a pretty good to good for a group. I'll give you good, especially if Geeky is still the guy. Yep. But I. But my thought process is we have no reason to,
Starting point is 00:24:03 I think this team got better. Yeah, me too. And I think it's unfair to go, like when Morgan Geeky has just gotten better every year with the Bruins, why wouldn't he score 40 again? Why wouldn't pasta be a hundred point guy again? Why wouldn't Zaka stay on this trajectory of, let's call it, around 60 points? J.J. Peturca is an unbelievable addition. Playing under Marco Sturm, playing with a guy like pasta who, this is what we talked about with pasta. Dude, pasta is a much better setup man than people think. People are like this. He's a goal score. He's just nasty. He had fucking 70 assists last year. Like he's nasty. You have to imagine Minton. and Hous de Dinoff will all continue their trajectory and get better.
Starting point is 00:24:43 So I look at that. And then as we talked about this summer, their defense with McAvoy, Lory, Hampus, Will Borgian, Henry Yoki Haru, Nikita Zedorov. That is kind of there, the six that we expect to see. You just signed Cliffy Hockey back. Connor Clifton is returning. I have been saying, I think Boston needs to do more on D. Yeah, I think, I kept expecting another move to be made.
Starting point is 00:25:14 I was a bit surprised, frankly, that they didn't and haven't still made another move. So, when you have all of this, you have Mason Lurai at 3.2 this year will be an RFA at the end of next year. Yeah, that is something at the end of next season you have to figure out, are you sticking with Lurai, or are you moving on? Who's Nadeenov is on his. rookie deal is an RFA at the end of this year. I just think there's and then sorry, Zaka, last year of his deal, middle stat last year of his deal. Yeah. There are, I believe passionately that Boston is on the precipice and on the bubble of one or two moves where I'm like, you are a very good team. And they need to get better on defense and they need to figure out what
Starting point is 00:26:04 their future move is in this forward group. I believe personally that they, are a top six forward away, one, from having a very good top six. And, yeah, if they added to someone who I consider a star, then yes, I now think they're in the conversation. Or even like star adjacent. And this is why I have gone back time and time again. Fuck. I cannot believe that Boston is not on Dylan Larkin's list.
Starting point is 00:26:33 Yeah, I agree. That would be so great. I just, so, so great. Dylan Larkin is on a very palatable contract. I think that there are pieces that could go back to Detroit that Detroit would be happy with. What is his contract? I think he makes eight points. That sounds something like that.
Starting point is 00:26:48 That sounds right. Yeah. God, you know what even. And like that is the type of contract, Chris, as we're talking about looking at the deals with Boston. That fits perfectly with what Boston is building. That is not a guy. If you traded for Dylan Larkin and said you are our one C. 2C. He would certainly be your 1C to start. Think about Dylan Larkin with David Posternak.
Starting point is 00:27:14 Yeah. That is a guy that you bring in at that number and no one in Boston Blinks. Yep. No one is, no one on the team is like, woof, man, we just brought in a guy with a huge cap in. You locked up, dude. And Larked up, you know, like I don't even think fans would be like, oh, this guy, he's on such a big ticket. He's better perform. You bring him in. He's got sway. He's got McAvoy. USA boys, I just think that is a very good fit that makes sense in a city where I think Larks would be happy. Yeah. And that is the type of move because like I said, star, star adjacent.
Starting point is 00:27:54 I think Larks is a star. Oh, yeah, yeah. Hell yeah. That is like Boston is one forward in that top six away from being like, that is a dangerous team. Dude, you know, I'm going to go back to this. You said, and actually someone, oh, God, I should find it. someone in the comments shout out, or maybe it was an IG comment, I think it probably was.
Starting point is 00:28:14 You had said Stamcoast to Montreal and someone was like, you guys should clip that. That's your best take in years. And I was like, hell yeah. Which I do think was an awesome take. And then, Ev, when you were like, he's playing for his old, like his coach would be his old team. I was like, wow, so sick. But I think in that segment I said, and I will go back to it again here, I would love Stamco's on the Bruins for pretty much the same reason. He's an eight cap hit. I know he's way older
Starting point is 00:28:41 and whatever, but he's still so productive. The one thing I guess I don't know, because I just like don't, I was going to say, I don't pay enough attention. I don't know how to describe what I'm about to say, but Stamcoaston doesn't like some systems. Like, remember when he first got to Nashville and he was like, what is this? Yeah, yeah. We're dumping it. So like, I don't, I can't speak to the Sturm's system and how Stamcoast would like that. But presuming he could just play his game, the Bruins adding Stamco's at eight. would, and you probably would have to trade less to get him than to get Larkin. And then you have that guy who could play center in Wagon give you 40 fucking goals.
Starting point is 00:29:14 Then I'm with you, him or Larkin. But even with Samko's, I'm with you where I'm like, okay, this group is now competitive. See, that would certainly help this year. My hesitation with the guy like Stammer with Boston is to what point and purpose? Stammer has three years left, maybe. and I'm kind of like, stammer needs to be traded to a team that is trying to win right now.
Starting point is 00:29:40 I know Boston, and I know those guys are like, we're trying to win right now. I think there's still a couple moves away. I don't think adding Stamcoast to this group makes them win right now, and it's also not a future move. Whereas like Larkin,
Starting point is 00:29:52 I also am not like, you are now a top, top, top contender, but I'm like you are way more competitive and you have Larkin for the next five years. Absurably the better deal. But I'm just saying if you couldn't get him. But again, I would challenge you and go, what is the point of adding Stamcoast to this team? I go, I try to get better every single year, and I will figure out next year and next year.
Starting point is 00:30:15 And I believe passionately you can do that if you're good at your job. So I'm like, yes, we are now way better for the next two years. And then by then, Hagen's has developed and he slides right in. We're good. I'm not really in the business. I'm in the business of planning for the future if I can. If not, I'm like. I just think what it would take to trade for Stamcoast, you now fuck yourself the next year.
Starting point is 00:30:34 Because now you have less to trade with and your window is so much tighter. So I think that's... Yeah, it depends on what the deal is, I guess. Whereas like Montreal, I'm like, you win next year. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. So this year, I mean. Yeah, right, right, right. Like, get Stammer and win this year.
Starting point is 00:30:48 Boston, I don't think can do that with Stammer. I think they probably, yeah. I mean, I don't think they could win with either of them right now. Me neither. But again, if you trade assets and picks for a Dillon Larkin, you don't give a fuck because I'm not comparing. Our window... Well, you...
Starting point is 00:31:04 No. No, that one's way better. Yeah. And I just, again, I think it's a dangerous game there. Okay. Good Boston Talk. Next contract that we got to touch on end of last week. Steve Boyam, paid.
Starting point is 00:31:17 Eight years, 9.38-mill AAV. Last year, he played 76 games, six goals, 20 assists for 26 points, and a dash 33. Not his fault. That team was out of control. He is a certified number one on that team. He was last. year he is this season. He is the number one defenseman on that team. He's won at every level. He's immensely talented. He's got one of the best mentalities I've ever seen.
Starting point is 00:31:44 Thoughts on this deal and what Vancouver is doing. I have two big talking points here. Number one, I don't know what when that trade went down, I don't know if there were conversations pre-trade. I know teams talk all the time, but I don't know if there were conversations pre-trade. Like, hey dude we're going to move Quinn we're trying to get you back but we're only going to agree to this trade if you are going to sign a long-term extension with us right so i presume that conversation did happen yeah and if it did i don't know what kind of legal rules are on you going back on that right but i'm saying like that happens all the time right where they're like hey dude i'm not doing this unless you're going to seriously consider this and then what
Starting point is 00:32:34 would that would do to Zeeve both legally and a reputation among the league. If he was like, just kidding, I'm not staying here. So maybe he was morally obligated due to a previous conversation to sign a long-term extension with the Canucks. I would not sign a long-term extension with the Canucks, certainly not eight years. I'm not saying I would demand a trade already, but I think if I was him, I would have signed a two-year deal. And when the Canucks suck ass again for two straight years, I would go, yeah, I'm obviously signing as a, I guess I don't know if he'd be a UFA yet, but you know what I'm saying, I would sign with someone good and enjoy my life, whereas now currently he is going to not enjoy his life at all for eight years. And I know he
Starting point is 00:33:16 has a great mentality, so God gives its toughest test to his strongest soldiers. Congratulations, Zeeve, you are our strongest soldier, and I love you. Damn, but this is going to be very unpleasant for him for a long time. Number two. Canucks fans hate you right? Point number two, I think that the entire point, and by the way, everyone in Vancouver said this, and I think you and I even said this, the entire point of the Zeev coming back from Quinn, if you're going to trade Quinn Hughes, it's to acquire the next Quinn Hughes. You don't just give up. One does not simply walk into Mordor. One does not simply trade Quinn Hughes for a dude who is not good at D. So we all believe that Zeeve is the next Quinn Hughes. And he's what, 22 or something? is 20. 20. So considering Quinn Hughes is, unless he takes a jack discount, about to get 20 mil, and Kale gets 20 mil, if I'm Zeeve, I'm going, I don't give a fuck how many goals I had, how many sis I had. You traded for me because you said out loud, I am the next Quinn Hughes. So kindly pay me 15 million minimum or I'm leaving. So the fact that he took nine is the greatest discount he could
Starting point is 00:34:31 ever have given them and I'm stunned by everything that's happened. I'm stunned by the number and I'm stunned he signed. I think it's an amazing contract. It is an amazing contract. You just got Quinn Hughes for $9 million. Yeah, we talked about last episode, I believe. The standard number one D-Man contract of the last five years has been this 8.5 to 9.5 and now it is seemingly bumped up with Bowen Byram, frankly. Yeah. 12.5. I believe it's 12.5. I think so. Maybe even six. The fact that they just, and again, This is a potential contract for sure. But the fact that they got him at under 9-5 is a phenomenal deal.
Starting point is 00:35:09 And yes, man, I think Zeev Boyam is an absolute stud. I think you, is it fair to say that anyone will become Quinn Hughes? I don't think so. Quinn and Kale and Z are the best defensemen in the National Hockey League and they are consistently going to be in like the 80-point realm. I'm not sure that Zeeve is definitely going to be that, but you have a definite, definite stud on your hands here. This is a kid who turned 20 in the middle of last season,
Starting point is 00:35:40 had six tucks and 26 points. Like he is a very, very, very good NHL defenseman. You had to get this contract done, and the fact that they did is miraculous. I agree with you. And I don't agree with you in shitting all. over Vancouver. Like I think Vancouver is one of the best Canadian
Starting point is 00:36:02 cities. Oh, it's gorgeous. It is gorgeous. Of the Canadian cities, it is a top choice of, if you had to play in Canada, I'm not saying it like that. Wow. Yeah, seriously. Sorry. Jesus Christ. If you're playing in Canada, what are some of the cities you pick? That is one of the top ones.
Starting point is 00:36:18 Like, BC is unbelievable. It's amazing, dude. It's a great place, but given that we've seen a lot of these five-year deals, look at Macklin, look at Bedard, And the defense, like some defense. I'm a little surprised, yeah. Like, what is, does Boyham four years?
Starting point is 00:36:34 Or is Bowen Byram four years? Let me see. And Clarkie? Um, yeah, Clarkie was, no, was Clarkie not seven? I thought he did five. No, I think he did five, too. He did do five. Arm six years.
Starting point is 00:36:48 You would think that Boym would have done a five year. Totally, dude. So the fact that Vancouver got him at eight is unbelievable. Like he is signed until 2035. That's what I mean. I'm like, there must have been some kind of panshake deal here that he was like, sure, I'll take it. I don't know. I think like maybe he's bought into what they're doing.
Starting point is 00:37:07 He believes in the rebuild. But I'm curious now, if you're Vancouver, this is so big because you've got Hronick, who's a great player signed until 2032, and now you've got Zeev signed until 2035. You have a top pair D signed until the 2030s, deep in the 2030s. you have 17 mil I believe in caps almost 18 mil in cap space I just like
Starting point is 00:37:35 I want to know what they're doing and I don't I don't know the answer because it's like they they are in a remember years ago when we were like why aren't you good and then the next year they were amazing
Starting point is 00:37:50 it's like I do we believe in PD is PD going to figure it out and get back to who he was because you have him signed until 2032 at $11.6 million. He's fucking better. You somehow managed to get Brock Besser to agree to come back, also sign until 2032. You've got Jake DeBrusk signed until 2031. You picked up Marco Rossi in that trade for Quinn Hughes.
Starting point is 00:38:13 You have him for two more years. You have Philip Heedel on the team. Brendan Gallagher comes over, some nice veteran presence. There's just like, there's a lot of pretty good players on this team. but my God were they bad last year. It was incredible. They were so bad last year and really they haven't added anyone. Like Gallagher is a good ad, a veteran presence ad,
Starting point is 00:38:39 but like Gallagher's not taking this team to the next level. And like they, I just, they scare the shit out of me. Oh, me too. To your point, if you're Zeev Boyam, it's like, what an unbelievable move that is by the Canucks. And also what a, what an honorable move. it is by point. That's what I'm saying. To be like this, hey dude, you trade it. And we're seeing so often now with young kids on a rookie deal who are being like, dude, I'm taking care of myself.
Starting point is 00:39:04 He could have easily been like this. I demand a trade. Yeah, yeah, right. God knows what would have happened after that. But he was like, I'll give you. He gave him eight and took a discount. And I was like, Jesus. And like, he's an American kid. Folks. That's another big thing to remember. Hey, there you go. Okay. The amount of people who are bitching and moaning saying like all these Americans want out of Canada. Well, here's an American kid who's won gold medals in World Juniors for Team USA won national championships at Denver who went like this eight years in Canada. Dude, wait till he gets one call up to the big club at one of these world championships or something. And then he's like, oh shit, all the boys, all the boys start talking.
Starting point is 00:39:37 Four years from now is nightmare fuel for Vancouver County fans. Just wait, dude. But yeah, it's, again, I think it's an unbelievable deal. Oh, it is. Congratulations, Vancouver. I'm happy for you because you got a great kid for it. Don't backwalk here at Vancouver now. I'm happy for them because they got a good. They're terrible. I'm sad for him still because the Canucks suck and you have a horrible decade ahead of you.
Starting point is 00:39:59 I'm happy for the Canucks because at least they get to have a great player. Hopefully he'll drag them into some winning. Yeah, yeah. This is one of those opportunities. You know what? My closing thought on this is we talked about with all these players requesting trades, people wanted to bitch about Brady. They wanted to bitch about Dylan more so.
Starting point is 00:40:18 And I, the take is when you sign that. big contract, you are making a commitment to the team. My take from the player side, and I know people get on us about always supporting the players, it's a two-way street. When you give an eight-year contract, a seven-year contract to a player, they're not just committing to you. You're committing to them, too. You're going, we, like, thank you for signing here.
Starting point is 00:40:43 We now have to do our due diligence and do our jobs in creating a championship team around you. You got to play your part, too. Yep. But we have to do our part as well. This is a unbelievable contract by the Vancouver Canucks. And fucking Zeev can't wait for you to come on. You're the fucking man for this.
Starting point is 00:41:05 But the Canucks, it is your fucking job. The entire organization, you now have another thoroughbred defenseman on your team. Build a good team around them. Don't lose them. Build a good team around it. This is what you have to do now. Agree. It's unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:41:22 Speaking of executives and GMs and upper management, the Detroit Red Wing still do not have a GM. I hope that they don't get one. Dude, it's a whole new world out there, Dan. People getting 20 million a year. I hope they go. Price now 20 million. Yeah, I hope they go.
Starting point is 00:41:41 Does anybody know where Air Bud is? At that point where we're going to get like the Airbud movie where he's a GM now? Did we ever, did Air Bud ever go to front office? Yeah, that's what I'm saying. In those movies? Wow. ever get there? Let's come up with an Airbud pun name. Those are some of the best
Starting point is 00:41:55 pun names I've ever heard. Yeah, golden receiver. Yep. World Pup was the soccer one. So a GM general manager that's thinking that realm. Hmm. Is there Airbud
Starting point is 00:42:10 front Poffus? There you go. That's incredible. That's great. That's it. There you go. Airbud front Poffus. Oh my God, dude. This is so good. I just looked up the Airbud movies. There's some of the greatest puns of all time.
Starting point is 00:42:27 Dude, Airbud. That's where the quality ends. That was basketball. Basketball. And don't forget. I'm pretty sure the writer of that movie, I'm pretty sure he's like written all of them. Of course. There's a guy there's a guy who's on just about all of them. But I got to say, dude, the first two
Starting point is 00:42:43 is a totally different couple. Oh, yeah, totally different couple. And then Robert Vince. Yeah, Robert Vince. Ann Vince have wrote a ton of them, but some of them is Ann and not Robert. And I wonder if they're siblings or spouses. I bet they're married. Like, Liberty, shout out, National Treasure. Dude, so Air Bud is basketball, and that's, the pun is Air. Like, that's, you know, it's like Air Jordan, Air Bud. Like, that's what that was. Then they go Airbud Golden Receiver. Incredible.
Starting point is 00:43:13 Soccer. No, no, no. No, no. Or, I mean, football. Airbud World Pup. Yep. And then I'm going to skip one and then airbud spikes back. Volleyball? That's got to be volleyball. Incredible. So the one I skipped is... Is that an Empire Strikes Back? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:30 The one I skipped is baseball. Does anyone know what it is? No. Mm. It is incredible. Incredible. Is it better than front pafus? No, that's the best air bud to date.
Starting point is 00:43:44 Airbud seventh inning fetch. Oh, wow. That is so good. That is so good. Well, hey, Robert Vince, Airbud front Poffus. You've got another hit on your hands. And, dude, he's the GM of the wings. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:57 And they would be doing better than they are currently. They would certainly be in better standing right now with Airbud as a GM than what they're currently doing. Dude, don't you think it'd be sick if they had a good boy there. And they were like, what should we pay this guy? Stop bark when you're ready. And we go 7.1, 7.2, 7.3. I need barks.
Starting point is 00:44:15 And they go, boom, 7.3 for eight years. Done. Next thing you know the wings are back. Yeah, that's what I'm saying, dude. That's what I'm saying. The vibes would be fucking insane. Airbud front pa-office is what the Detroit Red Wings need because currently they are without a GM. And the top name in contention was actually Jeff Greenberg, the current GM of the Detroit Tigers.
Starting point is 00:44:38 But he has respectfully withdrawn his name. Yeah, no shit. Now, it doesn't look as bad as it is because he was previously an associate GM of the Blackhawks. It's not like he's unfamiliar with hockey. Right. But the fact that the Detroit Red Wings, you have your captain and best player requesting a trade out of the team. You have missed the playoff. You are the longest standing playoff list run team in the NHL.
Starting point is 00:44:59 You are so far from your glory days. And you need a GM. So in your panic, you turn, you go like this, we need a GM. Where's the closest GM? And you literally turn to the fucking. They looked at the window of LCA. Yeah. Oh, you turned to Comerica Park.
Starting point is 00:45:13 And you go, Jeff. Get over here. He's like, no. He's like, absolutely not. Speaking of my experience, everyone's got two jobs nowadays. Yeah, correct. They were like, come on, man. You damn right.
Starting point is 00:45:24 That is true. Yeah, dude, it's different seasons. Yeah. Like, the baseball scene's about to end. The name's being thrown around right now are Sean Horcoff, who is currently the assistant GM of the team, Nick Lidstrom and Chris Draper. I bet it's going to be Horcoff.
Starting point is 00:45:39 He's currently acting as GM, like whenever they have, like, Vygwide phone calls right now, like Horcoff's on the line. It's going to be him. I understand the Draper and the Lidsstrom I mean if Nick Lidstrom's the GM I would be if I'm a Detroit fan I would be That's again this is my favorite player in the history of the National Hockey League I would be so fucking torched
Starting point is 00:45:56 Yeah and you would feel sacked about Eisenman though I was it's true I'm saying I'm saying you the wings fans of the world Yeah no but so was I yeah I'm dude I I died on my shield defending Steve Iserman and that did not go well for me I think too though if you and this is kind of true I kind of think this about all jobs if you are like, I'll do it for Hollywood terms for us, if you're like, you know, the VP of scripted programming at HBO
Starting point is 00:46:22 and then the SVP who you've worked under for five years leaves or is let go and then they hire someone external. You're like, what? Yeah. Because it's like, dude, why did you hire? Why am I here to not be promoted internally? So, okay, I, that's a great topic. CP. I was thinking this when the Bruins moved on from Shirelli and then just promoted Sweeney.
Starting point is 00:46:55 Yeah. I was kind of like, dude, no, it's the same fucking office. Like we were failing. Yep. So you fired someone and then you just go like this, bring in the same people. Now, that's not always the case. I understand that every person has their own thoughts and minds and there's a world where someone in an assistant GM role is being hampered by the courage. GM because they're like, I would have done things differently, but I'm just keeping my fucking job because hopefully one day I want the big job. That is absolutely possible. But I understand a fan base when they're like, clean fucking house to get out of here. Because we do see a lot of examples where that assistant GM gets the job and then it's just the same shit. You see it a lot with coaches too. Like look at LA. Like it's, you, you went assistant coach to assistant coach to
Starting point is 00:47:39 to assistant coach and it's just kind of like nothing is changing. Good counter. I think you've got to find that out in the interview. You go, dude. I'm considering promoting you. What is your plan? You know, and if they're like, stay the course, I'm like, you're fired. I would almost build in a stipulation of, if I were, if I hired the assistant GM, I would be like, here's a contract, like a three-year contract. However, you are on probation for the first three months.
Starting point is 00:48:04 Yeah. In terms of if I see the exact same shit that I've seen for the last five years while you were in office in an assistant role, I get to fire you. Yeah. And no one would ever sign that. That is the mentality that I would have because I'm like, I think that is the fear. Yes, that's a good point. Yeah, like with Detroit, I'm a little bit like, I mean, obviously it's a bright, shiny toy.
Starting point is 00:48:26 But if Nicklidstrom is interested in that job, it's what we always say look around the league of how well it's going with certain people. I mean, you've got. Where is it going well, though? Colorado. It's certainly going well in Colorado. I think, I personally think Philly is thrilled with Brier. even though Brieer did throw a fucking nuclear bomb into the NHL and change contracts forever. That one's incomplete.
Starting point is 00:48:50 That grade's incomplete, I would say. Yeah. I think that's going well. I would say that Boston would argue that Neely and Sweeney are successful. Yeah. Certainly Neely. And, well, Swini was in office when they won the stand the cap. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:02 Like they won a cup. Yep. Did they leave cups on the table? Absolutely. Sometimes it wasn't their fault. As we always say, dude, if you win a cup, you win a fucking cup. I think they would say that is successful. LA would say it has been successful with Blake and Robitai.
Starting point is 00:49:19 You get two cups absolutely. Yeah, yeah. Right. I guess it just hasn't been like, it's not as out of Matt. Everyone's like, yeah. And I'm like, dude, this isn't like going that way. Prevalent. Like, we haven't seen it really fail in places other than Iserman.
Starting point is 00:49:32 And even he like had success at times. I mean, is the owner? He created a foundation in Tampa and then left and then they won all their games. Yeah, yeah. That's true. Is the ownership group in any way responsible, you think? Like, when did they take over there? How long have they been in?
Starting point is 00:49:49 I'm ignorant. The Detroit owners? Yeah. That's a great question. Oh, yeah. And ownership groups are. I think they're partially responsible for some of them. Yes, they are responsible, dude.
Starting point is 00:49:59 Are you looking that up, Dan? Yeah. It's the Illiches. Yes. And they have, they purchased the team in 1982. Oh, so they've had it forever. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:50:12 So, yeah, I think that they're probably... However, Mike Illich died in 2017, and operations remain under the family via Illich Holdings, and their son Christopher serves as president, CEO, and government. Interesting. Hmm. So you wonder if everything went wrong when Mike passed. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:31 Is Chris Illich a snake in the grass? And we're not putting that on Chris. No, we just don't know. It's just, for me, it's a question, too. You know what I mean? It's slightly part of it. Are they getting enough resources to do it? what they need to do. Absolutely correct.
Starting point is 00:50:44 You know. It's interesting because the last time the Wings made playoffs was the 15-16 season. Wow, that's crazy. Year after that, Mike passes away. Well, listen, no, never mind. Just saying, never mind. Something to think about. Something to think about. Yep. So, Airbud, Red Wings. Yeah. Let's see what you got. Swinging it back to contracts.
Starting point is 00:51:07 How happy are you? I'm thrilled, dude, but this was obvious. This wasn't a surprise to me. The Sydney Crosby is ain't going nowhere. No way. So, Sid has one year left on his deal. He's 39 years old. He will turn 40 this season, entering his 22nd year in the NHL. He is on his famous $8.7 million contract.
Starting point is 00:51:38 Now, I got an idea for you. I have an idea, but... Sid has said here, I want to play for another at least few more years. Multiple years. And as we all were like, of course, I think this dude can play till 50. Yeah, me too. The question has become, what does that contract look like? The penguins have just under 11 mil in cap space.
Starting point is 00:52:05 They don't have a lot of young dudes signed to long deals. Coivinen is signed at a great $4 million contract until 2034. Don't forget they've got Tanger at 6.1 for two more years. They've got Eric Carlson at 10 million this year. He's 36 years old. They've got some work to do in getting some young guys signed for a long time. Now, I can't imagine a world where Sidney Crosby doesn't make $8.7 million. But I think there's a world where Sid, after this year, when he's 40, is kind of like, I don't need that 8.7 anymore.
Starting point is 00:52:44 But as we saw with L.A. this year and Matt Zuccarello's deal, his cap hit is, I believe, $1 million. I think so, too. And that is the case because, let me look at this. Yeah, Matt Zucarroes cap hit is one mil. But Zook, if he plays 10 games, I think it gets $4.5 million and then gets $5.5. Yeah, yeah. And that is because he is a plus 35.
Starting point is 00:53:14 year old player. Yep. Do that. Do that? Your idea is better than mine. So Sid, sign on one mil AAV, and when Sid plays 10 games, you give him $7.7 million. Boom. Then his superstition is taken care of. And now you free up 7.7 million in caps. So dude, I was going to say, I was actually a few years ago, I was interested in this time in Sid's life where I was like, oh man, when he's 40, he's definitely going to still be playing. and I wonder if he's going to make the penguins pay him 8.7. And he could because he's going, I saved you 50 fucking million over the course of the last 10 years.
Starting point is 00:53:54 I'm probably not even getting overpaid, but if they felt like it was an overpay, I'm like, you owe me anyway, take the 8.7. Then the cap went up so much that I'm like, actually they could just pay him 8.7, and it would be like the fair number. Yeah. I mean, he's going to be giving you 85 points.
Starting point is 00:54:11 So surely he deserves $8.7 million. Yeah. if Minton is getting 7.2. So whatever. Hey. I'm just saying. Don't bring Minton into this. Minton at 7.2.
Starting point is 00:54:22 Don't bring him into this. Minton at 7.2 on an incredible deal. Unbelievable. Sid is 8.7. So unfortunately, the penguin's feet never got held to the fire because this is actually just a fair number still because the cap went up so much. Then, but if it didn't, I was going to pitch that they pay him,
Starting point is 00:54:42 give him a two-year deal at 4.4. 35 AAV. So I'm like, you get your contract is 8.7. It's a superstition. Yeah. Like, you're getting half of that, you know, but we did divide it up. So I was going to say that, but your idea is even better because then he gets his 8.7 mil per year and the cap hits even lower.
Starting point is 00:55:00 It is crazy how similar the penguins are to the Bruins. I know. Even they even look alike. Even the color. Even the colors. But it's just like, you're looking at their lines. It's like Raquel, Crosby, Rust, Chinikov, Novak, Malkin. Shout out Cousie.
Starting point is 00:55:14 Kuzmanko, Kindle, Nick Robertson, Brasso, Lizott, Duar. And I'm kind of like, their makeup of these two teams is very similar. Totally agree. But, Sid, play till you're 50. Dude, they're going to rename a bridge in Pittsburgh after Crosby. Because they've got the Clement, the Reverto Cremant Bridge. There's going to be a Crosby Bridge. I can't wait until I drive across that bridge.
Starting point is 00:55:35 I'm going to fly to Pittsburgh. Yeah, build another bridge. I'll fly to Pittsburgh just to drive across it. That'll be an all-time moment for me. Build a bridge. But I hope, I mean, I hope. He signs, he's going to keep doing ones, or maybe two years. He'll probably sign like a two year.
Starting point is 00:55:49 I just want him to win one more so badly. Yeah, me too, dude. I don't know if they can, but it would be so sick if he just won one more cup. I know. I don't know that looking at it this year, it's realistic this year, but maybe. You never know. I assure you it's not realistic this year. But they've just got like, helly.
Starting point is 00:56:12 Rutger is going to be a big time. player for them this year. They've got some good draft picks in here, but they're all just like, other than Rutker, they all feel so far away. Well, that's what I mean. It would take a Johnny Quick, John Sebastian Jaguer style run from their goalie, unfortunately, which is why we said before, I was like, go get Heli, dude. And then you give Sid his best shot for two years, like, because Heli could go nuclear
Starting point is 00:56:34 and you're like, oh, my God, what you want? And that's what I want them to do. They can afford it right now. This is Malcon's last year, too, right? Oh, they've got Owen Pickering on the team, too. I fucking love them. I can't remember. Didn't he sign an extension?
Starting point is 00:56:47 Do. I think he's got one, this is... Malkin is on his last year. He signed a one year. He's 5.5 this year. So this is like the last year for Malkin probably. You keep saying that though. I know, what's my need.
Starting point is 00:56:57 Malkin, I mean, he just keeps performing. Kind of. Rush your machine don't break, you know? He also slashed Rasmus Dahlian writing on... Oh, yeah, I sure, dude. That was crazy. Yeah. All right, let's take an ad break, and then pop back into some team names again.
Starting point is 00:57:13 We are recording. this on Wednesday, September 9th, which means the NFL is back. And Thursday night football just got a whole lot better with legendary Thursdays at BetMGM. Starting point is 00:57:52 And if you haven't signed it for BetMGM yet, what are you doing? Literally, literally, what are you doing? I do not understand. Download that app. Use that bonus code netters. That's N-E-T-T-E-R-S. Then you get to claim your new player offer. Then you get to get dialed on Thursdays.
Starting point is 00:58:05 It's unbelievable. So are you. So is Bet-M-G-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-M-legendary. Welcome back, everybody. And Dan is right. We were going to talk some names. And first things first, I don't even know if you saw this, if I've said it to you, we did our Houston name thing the other week.
Starting point is 00:58:22 Yeah, yeah. And this guy, Dario, shout out Dario, commented. Bro. And he goes, Houston saucers. It's the greatest idea. And the logos of flying saucer but a puck. Oh, that's cool. And we send saucer passes all the time, flying saucers, aliens.
Starting point is 00:58:40 I literally respond. And I go, this is the best idea ever. I can't believe how. long we circled alien shit and never landed on saucers. Houston saucers would be, I can't even believe. That's the best name I've ever heard. It is so good. It's like, bro.
Starting point is 00:58:53 It's a great hockey name. My one beef, though, is that I feel like New Mexico has the ownership of alien shit. To be fair. I think NASA is its own thing. But we were going to do Martians. I know, but then I rethought. I was thinking about it. Wait a second.
Starting point is 00:59:07 The alien shit is Roswell. I know, but we're just never going to get a New Mexico team. A New Mexico team. And what if we put in the clause, Ev, the Houston Saucers, until we expand to New Mexico and then they get to be, we relocate that team. Or they relocate the names. Or everyone from New Mexico, if you come to a Houston Saucers game, you only pay 20%. Free ticket. Not a free ticket.
Starting point is 00:59:28 Come on. What are we? What are we crazy? 50% off. 50% off. Perfect. Okay. So 51%.
Starting point is 00:59:35 I would need the Houston Saucers. I would need the Houston Saucers to be like super famous for their sauces. Yeah. Everything that you sell on the stadium. Oh, yeah, you got good dips. I cannot have just a simple ketchup, mustard, mayo. No, no, no. I need all the sauces.
Starting point is 00:59:51 And dude, they should have cool names. Like, all the sauces should be, like, have sick Houston-y names for the sauce. And you're like, what even is that one? And they're like, oh, this one's like a Chipotle Mayo, but we call it this. We call it, yeah. The Houston saucers, shout out Dario, unbelievable name. And also shout out everyone. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:07 In the DMs on IG and in the comments on the YouTube. some awesome names we're getting thrown. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Really cool names. Also, if we have any graphic designers out there who want to send us some logos for any of these, we'll put them up. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:23 Someone makes a cool, because I was thinking about how would you make the Houston saucers be a cool-looking flying saucer but look like a puck? That would be very difficult. No, not for today's day and age, dude. People can, I guarantee you in tomorrow in our inbox, you have a sick-ass puck saucer. And it won't be corny. No, dude. Okay, I want it. Send them to us on Twitter.
Starting point is 01:00:47 Send them to us and the Instagram DMs. On any of you graphic designers, you can even use fucking chat GPT. I don't care. Sorry, Evan. But. I want to see some Houston Saucers logos. Then, right after the Houston announcement, and Dan, I'm sorry, your worst nightmare, but it sounds like Atlanta is essentially confirmed as the next team.
Starting point is 01:01:09 So we're going back to Atlanta. There's no ill will for me. And Dan hates Atlanta. There's no ill will. And I am not completely aloof to the coolness of Atlanta like I was to Houston. My issue with Atlanta is you've had two shots. There are so many cities out here begging for their first. And you've had two.
Starting point is 01:01:32 Yeah. It's just such a big population. They have to keep trying. I know. That's why they do it. But there's a hub where there's a world where, what do you call Atlantans? Sure. Atlantis? Atlantis. That's underwater.
Starting point is 01:01:47 Should change your name to Atlantis. Then it will work. I don't think Atlantinites give a shit about hockey. I think that's the problem. And that's okay. Yeah. Yes, it's a huge population. But if you had two NHL teams and they both failed because you didn't give a fuck, it's okay. It's a huge population of people that don't give a fuck. Yeah. And like that's fine. I'm not going to be mad at you. I'm not lobbying to put an NHL team in fucking Rio de Janeiro, you know, like some, there's just some cities.
Starting point is 01:02:12 that are super populated that maybe don't give a fuck about hockey. That's okay. So Atlanta, Houston will be the 33rd team and they're the Houston saucers. The 34th team in the NHL will be the Atlanta Blank. The Atlanta Blank. And right now, Atlanta has the Atlanta Braves. Cool. No one cares about that, by the way?
Starting point is 01:02:31 I hate the wokeness, but no one cares about that. I think they cared more about the logo being a character than they did. Yeah. Well, I mean, the Cleveland Indians was just hysteria. Oh, that's true. That one was bad. I'm thinking of the Indians now, but now what they're just... I think all the other, like, I think Seminoles is sick, right?
Starting point is 01:02:48 Because that's just like an awesome tribe. Black Cox, Chief Blackhawk. Yeah, yeah. I think Braves is cool. Like, it's just Braves is... So they have the Braves. The names aren't inappropriate. I mean, I think it's fucking elite.
Starting point is 01:02:59 If you're Native American, I think it's awesome to have representation in pro sports as long as it is nice. You should also get 50% off your ticket. Also, the Bray... The Tomahawk chop is so... No, fucking cool. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, you should get 51% off. The Atlanta.
Starting point is 01:03:12 Braves, the Atlanta Falcons, the Atlanta Hawks, and then Atlanta United FC, and then you have the Atlanta dream in the WMBA. The things Atlanta, so clearly there's a bird thing going. Well, not clearly. Well, there's two of the three Houston things where space. Yeah, well, that's because the fucking Houston Texans are the dumbest people on Earth. But also the Braves is odd. But also two thirds is better than two fifths. Well, Houston has WMBA teams.
Starting point is 01:03:40 I just wasn't counting those. I'm talking about the big four. Houston has three teams. But is the Houston's dub WMBA team? Was that space two? No. Oh, yeah, fair. I'm just not counting any of those.
Starting point is 01:03:50 What I'm saying. The comet was the WMBA team. But that's a former team. Or no, sorry, Comet was the old WHL hockey team or something. Yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah, the Houston something else is whatever. Anyway, so they have two birds. I don't say, I won't say they have a bird thing, but they have two birds.
Starting point is 01:04:05 Well, we won't we with the thrashers before. I need these teams like the, Atlanta dream. Yeah. Like, can we get some more respect in the WNBA? Agreed.
Starting point is 01:04:17 Give them good fucking team names. It's kind of like the P-dub too. They also just do like, those are some of those are okay. I like some of the P-dub. I mean, the golden eyes is like the coolest fucking name I've ever ever in my entire love.
Starting point is 01:04:26 What's the Boston team? theirs is dope. A fleet. Yeah, the fleet. Gas. Okay. So Atlanta, this is Chachy-Bitty again,
Starting point is 01:04:34 which is what I did for Houston, says Atlanta is, some of the things Atlanta's known for, Peaches, which I don't like, that's, Georgia to me, so I'm kind of ruling that out. Railroads, aviation. Okay. As a train guy, so Dan, I lean in all the fucking way. Dan, apparently. Because I've got a couple that I like.
Starting point is 01:04:53 Atlanta originally, when the city was formed, was the end of the railroad that we built as a people in this country. And Atlanta's first city name before it was Atlanta was terminus because it was the end of the railroad. And so Atlanta terminus is possible, but I don't know what they... That sounds horrible. Agree? That sounds like something a doctor tells you before you die.
Starting point is 01:05:16 Why don't... Atlanta rails, Atlanta steam. I think we got... No, no, no. Rails. Why are we... Yeah, yeah, that's dangerous. Why are we flirting with this, dude?
Starting point is 01:05:26 Name this team the Atlanta freight trains. The Atlanta freight trains. Okay, so that's really interesting, Dan. Are there any... How about the choo-choo? The Atlanta Choo Choo Choo's. Well, that would be a fun nickname for him. You name the Atlanta flight train trains.
Starting point is 01:05:40 We're going to the Choochoo's guys. Go ahead and I have a lot of thoughts on this. The rink's called, what is the ring called? Train Station? Grand Central. Grand Central. Yeah, it's called the train station for sure. What the fuck are you talking about?
Starting point is 01:05:52 Gas, dude. Okay. What if we, what if we, the little ode to Thomas the tank engine here, what do we call them the Atlanta diesels? Oh, that's interesting. That's interesting. This is, there's some music stuff. some like Atlanta culture stuff.
Starting point is 01:06:07 That's, I was thinking music. Like, you've got the Utah Jazz, you've got the St. Louis Blues. What about the fucking Atlanta bars? It's like the home of rap. Ooh, okay, so they put the Atlanta beats. Bars. Beats.
Starting point is 01:06:18 The Atlanta beats, the Atlanta rhythm. The Atlanta... What about the Atlanta hops? Like hip hop. Ooh. The Atlanta hustle. Hustle's interesting. Okay, that is cool.
Starting point is 01:06:29 It gives me hustle and flow by. Yeah, yeah. But I just, it sounds so ass. I know. It sounds like these shit fucking teen names that are given. Beats is bad too. That's a bad connotation.
Starting point is 01:06:38 What about this, dude? Fox Theater. Famous theater in Atlanta, restored in the 1920s, theater in Midtown hosting major concerts and Broadway shows. Atlanta Fox? What if we call them the Atlanta Red Foxes? Okay. I like that a lot.
Starting point is 01:06:54 Some cool fox names. Do you like that more than... We got the Red Fox, we got the Arctic Fox. Ooh, that could be kind of cool, but it's in Atlanta. That doesn't make sense. Do you like that more than train stuff? No.
Starting point is 01:07:01 The Atlanta freight train calling at the train station and saying we're going to the Choo Choo's game is the most obviously in the entire fucking world. You go to choo-choo-night? I'm like, of course I'm going to chew-ch-ch-l. Like, come on. Okay, so I actually...
Starting point is 01:07:12 Do you think... Listen to some of these types of foxes. Red fox, Arctic fox, Fenwick fox, swift fox, kit fox, Corsack fox, cape fox, pale fox, Bengal fox, Tibetan fox,
Starting point is 01:07:27 Blandford's fox, Rupels fox, there's one at the end here that you will not believe. Colpeo Fox, that's kind of sick. Darwin's fox. also sick. Chila fox. He's a chiller. Pampas fox. Saturin fox. Horry fox, gray fox, bat eater fox, island fox, cosumel fox, and crab eating fox. Bat eater? Or no, I'm sorry.
Starting point is 01:07:54 These are these texts is so small. Bat-eared fox. Oh, oh, okay. But then it is. Is the bad ears? Yeah. And looking at this photo of him, his ears are huge. But the last one is actually crab-eating fox. That's incredible. They should be the crab-eating foxes. Wait, you just made me think of something. Are there bats in Atlanta? You know what, though?
Starting point is 01:08:13 Because that would be a dope fucking team name. There are a fuck ton of bats in Austin. And I believe Austin 3015. They have that famous bridge, right? Austin had a team called the bats at some point. So the 35th team will be Austin, and that'll be the Austin bats. So we can save that segment. We've already solved.
Starting point is 01:08:27 Okay, we've solved Austin. So, dude, here's the world's largest urban bat colony lives under the and W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge in downtown Austin. That's actually. That's also fucking terrifying, dude. Batman can never go to Austin. No, he can't, dude.
Starting point is 01:08:42 He can thrive there. No, no, yeah, I know. Remember he's like, I want my enemies to share my fear. Yeah, exactly. So he got over his fear. Remember in the cave? He did.
Starting point is 01:08:50 The Austin bats are a professional minor league basketball team in the ABA. So here's the only other thing I need to tell you guys. And keep in mind, Atlanta has a bird theme. At least a little bit. There are two.
Starting point is 01:09:02 Yeah, I don't get that. To me neither. Well, you know the Phoenix was because of the rising from the flames. So, it's another flames reference. No, so Atlanta is Coca-Cola nation. The Atlanta Coke. The Atlanta, you said no to Rails, so now you want Coke. What about, what if we called them the Atlanta bottles?
Starting point is 01:09:19 Nope. The Atlanta Colas. The Atlanta sugar. Delta Airlines. The diabetes. Yeah, yeah, the Atlanta delayed flights. The Atlanta sugars. The Atlanta sugars.
Starting point is 01:09:31 The Atlanta sugars. Actually, sugar. No, so you were on something about birds. I did not know this. I can't believe you know this. Yeah. So famously, this is incredible. This is incredible history because I pushed track to people like, what was the, what's
Starting point is 01:09:42 the biggest history of the city? And Atlanta, in 1864 during the Civil War, Atlanta was burned to the ground and like completely destroyed. That is why. We talked about that. Yeah, yeah, we did. That's why they were the Atlanta flames. It was an ode to when the city literally burned.
Starting point is 01:09:56 Yeah. So, dude, in 1887, they rebuilt the city. And Atlanta, to this day, in that year, a doctor. a city seal to represent how they rose back from the flames and the ashes and it's a phoenix is literally perfect it's their city's mascot for 200 years and it's a bird like the atlanta that makes a lot of sense when you said they adopted a seal i thought there was like a little seal i thought for a moment they adopted a seal like as in like a sea lion and i was like What?
Starting point is 01:10:28 He's alive. So the Atlanta Phoenix, no-brainer, is pretty cool. I can't believe the thrashers weren't just called the Phoenix. Same. What were they thinking? Like, why did you go thrashers? Is that it a bird? Atlanta Falcons.
Starting point is 01:10:44 But that was their logo. It was a Phoenix, right? I guess. That was 100% of Phoenix. I just thought it was a thrasher, whatever the fuck that is. It was a soaring bird of red and orange. Like, that was a phoenix. But like a thrasher is a bird.
Starting point is 01:10:55 Like, why would they call themselves the thrashers and then make a different bird. Is a thrash or actually a bird? Yeah. Yeah. No, okay. Georgia state bird is a thrasher. Oh, never mind. So I think they picked a random bird. A Phoenix rises from the flames. Exactly. Dude, like, and they used to be the flames. And you've risen back up from the flames to become cool. I mean, this is, oh, now I just looked at the city of Phoenix. The Atlanta Phoenix is money back. Yeah, you know what's interesting to me is like there is a world where people who don't know this history. I mean, the Phoenix is incredible. People who don't know this history would think that they're doing just like a random
Starting point is 01:11:32 mythical creature. Yeah. And it's like, no, you got to let them know. I mean, that's the answer. Phoenix. The Atlanta, Phoenix. Although the Atlanta freight trains is sick. Is sick.
Starting point is 01:11:41 The Atlanta Phoenix is. Okay. Freight trains bars and Phoenix. It is kind of funny, though, that it's just two southern city names. I know. I did laugh like. Atlanta Phoenix. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:11:49 You're like, what? Then Phoenix, no. Phoenix, Atlanta. Phoenix gets a team back. They call themselves the Atlanta. The Atlanta Phoenix. Atlantis. The Atlanta Phoenix.
Starting point is 01:11:56 The Atlanta Phoenix. is literally the only option. You have two other teams named after birds. You tried to do birds with the thrashers. It is the city seal. Easy. We're done. It'd be kind of cool that the NHL now all of a sudden has Cracken and Phoenix.
Starting point is 01:12:11 Oh, true. We've got to figure out if we can get centaurs in the mix at some point. All of a sudden, the NHL is just big on mythical creatures. I love it. That would be gas. And he sent us happy nuts because he was listening to the pod and said,
Starting point is 01:14:22 we were talking about salted nuts our simple joys of salted nuts oh yeah yeah and he was like dude you guys mentioned the beauty of a salted nut i was listening it made me think of the wonderful combo a nice cold beer and some happy nuts he lives in tai chung taiwan nice and they have a southeast asian shopping area downtown that carries philippine tai and indonesian snacks and that's where he gets his happy nuts
Starting point is 01:14:41 and he sent us a collection sweet chili barbecue and there was just an original an original no the sweet chili the sweet chili was fucking tremendous So Mark, thank you, dude. That was sick. It was just an unbelievable move. And also it's like, Mark could have easily just been like this. Here's a pack of nuts. But he's sending something from Taiwan. Yep. He was like, I'm getting my money's worth. He sent us fucking like 50 back. Dude,
Starting point is 01:15:08 and it says, Happy Nuts says, whether alone or with friends, you'll find happiness in every pack of Happy Peanuts. Happy Peanuts, I should say. And then Mark also says PS Go Habs go. Oh, Habs fan. He's a Habs guy. That's very cool. Mark, huge thank you. Loop, loop. The package arrived and Loop comes in and he goes, yo, uh, I just signed for a package to empty netters from China. And I was like, hell yeah, dude, let's see what this is. Let's go. They're in the sports hands. I won't get some nuts. Yeah, you're going to get a whole bag, dude. That'll be your snack for the day. Fuck yeah.
Starting point is 01:15:45 All right. Let's get into fraud watch and top hits. I'm going to start today. Amazing. All right. I'm feeling pretty fired up about my fraud watch. My fraud watch this week is everyone who in the last 10 to 15 years thought it was cool to pretend and say that Entourage wasn't an awesome show. Oh, great, dude. I actually recently, you're kind of right about this. I recently have heard some people that surprised me be like, oh, I started watching Entourage or I kind of got back into Entourage. And I'm like, thank you, dude. It became, and I'll say why this has come up, but in the last.
Starting point is 01:16:22 10 years, it became like the cool thing to do to be like, dude, entourage was so bad. Yeah. I saw a clip of entourage. What an outdated shitty show. You are on fraud watch. Yeah. Because what's happening now, shout out better. Can't believe I'm giving Jake Paul a shout out.
Starting point is 01:16:41 But Better released an ad bringing back Jeremy Piven and Adrian Grenier as Ari Gold and Vince Chase to do a promotion for better. and it was just like a five-minute video that felt like an episode of Entourage. And everyone has been reposting that clip being like, this is the best thing better has ever done. This is a great promotional ad. And now Doug Ellen and everyone is talking about the reboot again. Everyone is going, oh my God, I miss Entourage.
Starting point is 01:17:08 If you go on HBO right now, what pops up immediately in featured, what you should watch is Entourage. Because millions of people saw that ad. hit Twitter and they went, I'm going to reboot Antroch. Yeah. Yeah. So everyone in the last 10 years who was like, I'm so enlightened, I'm so cool, entourage
Starting point is 01:17:29 was so bad and inappropriate. You are on fraud. Yeah. That show fucking rocked. It still rocks. And that's that. It's awesome. Dude, I legitimately and you're so right. And all the comments of like when the movie was coming
Starting point is 01:17:45 out, everyone was like, like the douche bros need a fucking movie. I was like, shut up. Shut up. Entourage was a fucking blast. And it's just like, I, and I'm putting you all on fraud watch. And everyone knows who you are. You and do some of our best friends.
Starting point is 01:18:03 And I wish I had the fucking Cahones to call them out personally. But two, I can think two right now, of our best friends on this earth, or two of the guys who in the last 10 years thought it made them look so fucking cool to be like this, Entourage was so terrible. And I'm like, you're a fucking clown. Dude, I legitimately wish. wish that entourage was
Starting point is 01:18:22 still running to this day with no break but it was like it got passed on to like a new star like it kept being like oh you know like eventually they'd be like okay now it's a new it would just spin off into like three season pops like Vinny Chase does a movie with a young new actress who's the shit
Starting point is 01:18:39 and it's like now we follow her for a few seasons and you'd all go like which entourage was your favorite and you'd be like oh I loved like I loved that girl I loved that guy that guy those three seasons stunk that actor suck that actor sucked, like that action star sucked, whatever. But it just, it should just still be on for it. Andro should be on forever. I feel the same way about Friday Night Lights.
Starting point is 01:18:55 Yeah, yeah, exactly. Like, should have gone from Matt Sarison to Vince Howard and then passed on to another to some new kid. Totally great. Dude, that is an incredible thing. I've never watched the show, but I can imagine that it would be hard to do it now just because the movie industry has been sinking so much. I actually think it's even better.
Starting point is 01:19:12 Like it'd be kind of funny. I agree. I think you'd really like it, especially because I think it's even better. Because like I've rebooted it and it like makes you, remember how awesome it was and gives you hope. But it's just like, and also, you know what's been really fun at? Yeah. When we, when I watched it for the first time, I'm, I'm looking at like all these places and I'm like, man, Hollywood is so cool. It's so sick watching it now and seeing them go places that you're like, oh my God, I go there all the time. There's one episode where they're
Starting point is 01:19:36 like at Earth Cafe. Yeah. I'm like, that's across the street. Yeah. Yeah. It's like so fun for that. Yeah, they'd probably shoot the whole show in London now. Yeah. Yeah, that's what's sad. It takes place in LA. Yeah, every shoot in Vancouver for L.A. Zeev Williams is the extra, the only extra they can afford. But yeah, it's been awesome seeing, and it's, this is also a cool, like the world's ceiling moment, but seeing everyone. I love this one, man.
Starting point is 01:20:01 On Twitter being like, fucking Entourage rocked. And I'm like, yeah, it did. And all of you people who tried to pretend it didn't rock for the last 10 years, you're on fraudulent. Yep. Dude, Entourage and Friday Night Light should be on at all times. Incredible. Go reboot Entourage.
Starting point is 01:20:15 It is so far. fun. I am 100% go by two now. I'm also rebooting the OC. I know. Me too. And it's just God, damn it. Those are the two best shows I've ever seen. And it's just so awesome that Luke said this the other day. Season one of the OC is literally 27 episodes. I'm like, holy shit. God, TV used to mean something. I know, dude. That shit used to come out every week and it was fucking hour-long episodes, 27. Half a year. They were pumping out content. It's more than half a year. When you watch the OC, when you reboot the OC and watch it. There's shit that goes on in the second half of season one and you're like, is this season
Starting point is 01:20:50 one still? It's crazy. Unbelievable. Oh, that's amazing. Okay. My fraud watch, this is a second week in a row where I'm kind of going one that this is my, I think this is on fraud watch, but I'm happy to hear debates from you two. Okay. I think, because I think this thing is a fucking genius idea. I just think if it doesn't work. Oh. And I'm like, figure it the fuck out, dude. I don't believe. My fraud watch is the sign that says how many available spaces are on each floor in a parking garage. You know what I'm talking about? You pull out the parking garage and it's like 35 open spots. Yeah. And I'm not saying the lights, the green and red lights, which is also genius. Like, you know, you pull up and it's like, yeah, you can see the lights up there. Yeah,
Starting point is 01:21:33 that is a genius idea. And I think those work more, they don't always work, but they work more often. Don't they always work? I feel like those always work. A few times I've seen one where I'm like, but I think those always work. So I like the lights. But I just think this thing that's like, 200 spots this way, 35 spots this way, is wrong. And I'll turn and there's no spots and I'm like, bro. This is a great use of fraud watch. Yeah. And this is like, I don't know. It might be on fraud watch. Yeah. Because we don't know. And you're right. It's on, it's, this is eligible to be on fraud watch because I don't know. Yeah. And there have definitely been times where I turn somewhere because I need a spot quick. And it's like 35 and I'm like, I'll find one of those 35. And I'm driving
Starting point is 01:22:09 around and I'm like, where? Dude. So yeah. I hope someone knows. Like I hope someone works has built a garage or works in this industry that's doing this or something. Yeah. Or has more life experience than me. But I get so frustrated when there's no, like it doesn't appear to be a spot. And I'm like, I turned down here because you said there were spots. Yeah. I've also got parking garage advice for everybody here.
Starting point is 01:22:35 Please. Turns out if you drive through a parking arm and break it and drive off, nothing happens to you because I did that one time. I like I was at one of those Santa Monica parking garages where you it's true
Starting point is 01:22:53 nothing happens were you in a fit of rage and you needed to be somewhere and you decided you know what fucking I'm going full movie here and driving for his arm or was it an accident?
Starting point is 01:23:02 I wasn't in a fit of rage really I was frustrated because there was no attendant I couldn't I paid for the ticket but it wasn't taking it and it was just sitting there there was nobody there
Starting point is 01:23:13 I ended up, I was with somebody I was dating at the time, I ended up going out and trying to lift it on my own. Yeah. And then it just like broke off in my hands. And I just went, oh, go, go. And I got in the car and we drove away. Yeah. And then I was like paranoid that I was going to get a call from like the police or.
Starting point is 01:23:31 You're about to get one tomorrow. They were going to be. Yeah. This was like 10 years ago. Statue of limitations. And nobody, nothing ever happened. It wasn't a big deal. So please break the log.
Starting point is 01:23:40 Go through those parking meters or those arms. they don't care. I am going to caveat this with, given that that was 10 years ago, and now I come up to a place and I don't even have to put the tickets because it's my license plate, that probably won't work. But if you're in like an old-fashioned garage, hell yeah, blast. I think too, the harder you hit it, the better chance you have of being like, I was being chased.
Starting point is 01:24:02 Like, I was trying to be abducted somebody who's abducting me. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're like, okay, sorry, never mind, good job. You know what you should do is if you can't pay for the ticket and you're with a buddy, get your buddy out of the car, drive through, blast through it, and then your buddy come through about two seconds later chasing you. Yeah, that's a great idea. Then you go.
Starting point is 01:24:20 Some lunatic was great. This is actually a sad story, but good advice for the people. Someone Sandra knows, like friend of friend of something, was like a young girl and died in a parking garage. Oh, my God. And it was crazy because she went on a first date with a guy, and then they went great or whatever. And the next day the guy was like, dude,
Starting point is 01:24:41 I texted her, like, had never heard from her. And they found her in the parking garage in the morning. She went to pay her ticket. And it was just like a little far because she's a small girl and leaned like this to put the ticket in. And which, but she didn't put her car in park. So when she leaned, it came off the gas and the car went forward and her head got stuck. Jesus Christ. Between the machine and the cars went forward.
Starting point is 01:25:06 Kind of like how Anton Yeltschen passed. Yes. So it's like, put your car in park. every time you get to, every time you're trying to reach for that ticket, put your car park. And I'm tall. I can always reach, but ever since I've heard that story, I'm immediately like, anytime I'm leaning out. Public service announcement.
Starting point is 01:25:22 Very sad story, but put that car in park. Yeah. Way to, wait a fraud watch. Great laughs, Chris. Give me a funny fraud watch, Evan. All right, I got one. I mean, I think people know that this is a fraud pretty much, but I just want to reiterate that I find it infuriate that I find it infuriate.
Starting point is 01:25:40 that we are in the year 2026 and no at-home printer works consistently. Dude, I just saw an ad about this. That is so funny. Such a good one. So good. They just like, they suck. Every time you want to do, oh, I'm going to hook it up with the Wi-Fi, Bob, but it works once.
Starting point is 01:25:57 And then it's like, lost signal, lost signal. You plug it in. And then the ink, if you do get it to work, the ink fucking runs out immediately. Yep. There's laser jet. There's ink jet. There's all these, like, I'm an old man. I don't know what the fuck I'm doing.
Starting point is 01:26:09 I just think at this point in our lives, we should be able to figure out how to print stuff in home. Not that a lot of people need it anymore. No, dude, I do. But I like to read things printed. Like a lot of times if you go to like an event and you know that your phone signal is bad, it's not a bad idea to like print your ticket just to have it in case something happens. But for God's sakes, we can't figure out.
Starting point is 01:26:32 We put people on the moon and we can't figure out printers at home. Yep. I actually saw an ad. What's the dude in? Silicon Valley and then he got jacked for the Marvel movie. Oh, Kumail Nanjiani. Yeah. I just saw a printer ad where he's the voiceover.
Starting point is 01:26:49 Yeah. And it was like the hook of this one was cartridges are so annoying. And this printer has like bars here where you can see how much ink is in it. And then you just buy these things that you literally just squirt in. No more cartridges just fill the ink up and you can see whatever. But the tag at the end of the ad was the last printer you'll ever need. And I was like, that is a good tag because. I agree with you so much.
Starting point is 01:27:11 I'm like, how is this such a problem? Why is it, why is it that complicated? Yeah, like this, I should have a printer that cost me $10. That just at this point, yes. That's what I'm saying. Like, this should be so easy. And then there are 100 bucks and they don't work. Yeah, so at home printers, you're on fraud watch.
Starting point is 01:27:28 Bang. Get your shit together. Great one. I got a top hit. This is a little early, but I was thinking about it, so I'm going to say it. Halloween's on a Saturday. And that's great. love that and I'm alarmed that I know a lot of grown adults who are going to be doing things
Starting point is 01:27:48 on that Halloween that aren't handing out candy to kids. Oh yeah okay my my top hit is hand out candy to children on Halloween dude so I'm with you on that and actually in L.A. I've never lived anywhere and two times we lived in pretty residential houses and I was so excited and then it just I think I think there are pockets where people go in L.A. That, you know, it's not just like you wander the street. So I wasn't on a street. And I was really sad because I would buy a huge thing of candy and I was like dressed up ready. And then no, like one kid would bring the doorbell on.
Starting point is 01:28:21 I'd be like, fuck. That is the one bummer about it, though, that like I ended up buying all these bags of candy. I'm like, I spent $120 on fucking bags of candy last year. Yeah, yeah. But it's just like, you know, I think when you get to a certain age, it's like you're, when you're a kid, you're trigger treating. It's amazing. It's a lot of fun. Then you get to your late.
Starting point is 01:28:38 late teens and 20s and you're partying and partying. And then I think when you get to a certain age, it's like have your fucking Halloween party earlier in the month. Yeah. And when Halloween happens, I think it's your duty as a responsible adult to make the lives of kids a little bit nicer and better. We live in a fucking community.
Starting point is 01:28:57 Hell yes, dude. And if you have the means to do it, I know there's a lot of apartments and there's a lot of situations where, like you said, where people aren't coming. And I get that. But if you live in an area where you have the option to do it and you see kids around, like, just go be part of it. Be part of the community.
Starting point is 01:29:14 It's a good thing. Dude, and I would even say you can have your party still just later in the night. Like, kids come pretty early. Yeah. The sun is up. I kind of forgot, which makes sense, because they're so young. But the sun is up. Like, just be around from five to nine. Yeah. And also, top hit, scaring kids. Oh, okay. That's a ricochet. But, like, I set up a whole fucking thing. Do you? That's so I've got to, like, an animatronic that sits there. And then when they get close enough, it like lunges to the side. And younger kids, like under five, always cry and scream. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:45 So sometimes I like turn it off remotely if I know, because I can see on my ring camera who's coming. Yeah. But like the kids that are like 10 to 12 fucking love it. Dude, so do you leave a bucket out that just says take one? No. No, I fully answer the door in costume. Like last year, it was funny.
Starting point is 01:30:01 We saw these kids at the end of our street about to come up. The pizza delivery I came. I was dressed as Frankenstein, but I, had my mask off. I accepted the pizzas, right? It like with my face out and I put him inside or closed the door. The kids knock on the door like three seconds later. I opened the door with Frankenstein mask on and they all fucking freaked out. I'm like, you just saw me. It's me. It's not. You saw me five seconds ago with my mask off. But I love the idea as a kid. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Franks I just ate that guy who got the pizzas. Yeah. What do you think about
Starting point is 01:30:33 the people who put or who like sit on their porch like pretending to be a scarecrow? And like the, the candy's in their lap. Hilarious. I think it's pretty awesome. It's so good, dude. I think that takes a lot of patience. I would have that because I'm inside drinking and eating and having fun with a handful of people. Or just my wife, but like I'm always on door watch.
Starting point is 01:30:52 I think people need to take it to a step higher. Like put candy out there, have the kids walk up to the stoop, and then the second they touch the candy, like a net drops on to them. Yeah, Dan. Make them really fearfully. Dude, get them kids. I like this. I like this a lot. I like that a lot.
Starting point is 01:31:07 lot. That's a great one of. Okay, my top hit is, and this, uh, I'll segue, or I'll sprinkle this little tidbit in here, Dan last night watched the born identity for the first time, which is crazy. Can you believe that? Absolutely. I can believe it because I was a blind spot for me. Yeah, the fact that you missed, it makes, wait, you've never seen them. Yeah, I think I've seen like one or two, maybe. I just, yeah, they're just, just, just went over me. So sick. So, Dan, had never seen Born Identity. He texted me last night that he was watching it and I was like, holy shit, and we were talking about it. And then Gavin just started watching the OC and we were talking about it. And I think this is a universal thing. It's certainly important to me.
Starting point is 01:31:51 Watching stuff that I have seen and loved with friends for their first. Wow. Great. Is a top hit for me. That brings me such joy. And again, I don't know if that's universal. Maybe everyone's like, yeah, no shit, dude. But like, if it's something, share, I guess it could expand to everything, food, whatever, just sharing things I love with people for their first time and watching it. I literally like watch them. Like you're watching the movie and I'm like this. I, yeah. I think that like for me it's like that's like that's maybe if I had a kid would be like 80% of the reason why I want to have a kid. Totally. They'd be like, oh my God, I get to show them, you know, Roger Rabbit or Star Wars or whatever, listen to cool music for the first time. Yep. But there's some anxiety though, isn't there like where you're kind of like, man, what if they don't like it? Totally. Totally. fuck up our relationship. Yep. And that happens. That has happened.
Starting point is 01:32:40 Yeah. Like, oh man, you don't like that. And that's crazy. But, dude, that, the excitement, the anticipation. It's like going up a roller coaster. Yeah. When the movie starts and I'm like, yes, dude, I cannot wait. And the reward is pretty high because if they love it, if they look back and they're like,
Starting point is 01:32:56 that was awesome. I'm like, yeah. Brings me extreme joy. It's a great one. And let me say, dude, I, it's inexcusable that it has been a blind spot for for me. I can't wait for you to finish. But I was watching, I got 20 minutes in the movie and I texted you in Lupin. I was like, this is the best fucking movie I've ever seen. And you bet your ass that I downloaded the next two for this flight. Thank God. I can't
Starting point is 01:33:20 fucking. This is also a great time to plug sci-fi section because that is literally what you're doing. Yes. So true, Ev. We are sharing something we really love. So go listen to sci-fi section. Go listen to sci-fi section. Came out today. My top hit, I'd like to do a quick honorable mention since you guys have done yours. Honorable mention to American tennis players. Hell yes, dude. Wow, really cool. All-American U.S. Open semifinal. For the men.
Starting point is 01:33:42 Oh, wow. For the men's. For the men's. Yeah. Very, very exciting. American tennis players. Sick. Sure.
Starting point is 01:33:48 My top hit is going to be duct tape. Ooh. Dude, I keep going. I really support this. Do you call it duct tape or duct tape? Duct tape. But I like that there's a one brand has a duck on it. Yes.
Starting point is 01:34:01 Yeah. Yeah, that's smart. This is my top hit for a number of reasons. It's just come up a lot in my life recently. mostly via movies, but I'm sure you guys saw there was a flight, I think it was an American Airlines flight recently, where a dude went on like a racist tirade and was just like screaming obscenities and being really insubordinate.
Starting point is 01:34:20 And they duct taped him to the seat. And it is an unbelievable photo. Yeah. Like this man is like his forehead is duct taped. His whole body is duct taped. But then I'm watching Born Identity. And there's a scene in the Born Identity where he breaks the window of a car to steal it and then they're driving around through the snow.
Starting point is 01:34:36 and it's just kind of like a one-off scene he's taping the window shut. Yeah. So they're not getting freezing cold in the car. Was then also watching Project Hail Mary recently. That is the greatest movie this year. If it doesn't win eight Oscars, it's a tragedy. It should win Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Actor,
Starting point is 01:34:53 also Best Supporting Actor for James. There's a scene in that where they're trying to recreate Venus and they have to have complete darkness and they use a lot of duct tape to create said, complete darkness. And I was like, fucking duct tape. What can't it do? And then I started watching the Martian. He's using duct tape all through that movie. NASA loves, NASA loves some duct tape. And I'm kind of like, in what world is duct tape this incredible, but it is? Dude, I used to say that I used to joke to my friends at Exeter, because we would all be like putting shit up on
Starting point is 01:35:31 the walls and they're like, no nails in the walls. And we were just like duct tape everything. And I was Like, does duct tape have a patent on working tape? Like, no tape sticks to anything. I do have one for you. Okay, go. Gaff tape does. Oh, yeah. That's very industry.
Starting point is 01:35:47 Gaff tape is a good idea. And Gap tape doesn't have that gooey sticky. Yeah, fair, actually. But it will tear much. Like, I don't think you could tie somebody up with Gaff tape. Maybe you could, but I feel like duct tape might be a little more like sticky. Literally. And I'm kind of like, I guess maybe no one wants to fight them because they have, they've
Starting point is 01:36:03 cornered the market. But I am always like, how come other. tapes. Clearly we have the technology to make tape fucking work. Every other tape just peels off. They're made by the same people who were making the printers. Yeah, yeah, you're right, dude. Every other tape. Big printer has made every piece of tape except for duct tape who's holding strong, dude, quite literally. Yeah. Yeah. Quite literally. Dude, I'm with you, Dan. Duck tape is incredible and God bless it for working. It's just like, it's remarkable. I think sometimes we don't really give duct tape credit for its versatility. And it's, the main thing I wanted to point out here is like,
Starting point is 01:36:36 Like duct tape is used in the most high intensity situations of all time. High pressure. It's literally used in space. It's used to detain criminals. Yeah. It's unbelievable. It's also used for fashion. Like I know you guys are probably the same era that I am.
Starting point is 01:36:49 But like in high school, there were a lot of like alt punk girls that would like make their duct tape prom dress. Like I made my whole prom dress at a multicolored duct tape. And I was like, good for you. Do you remember the duct tape wallets? Yeah. I would say there was a guy in my high school who was like, uh, made a business. He was making duct tape wallets and like selling them. Yeah. I was like, whoa, dude.
Starting point is 01:37:10 It's insane. I don't want that, but that's cool. I feel like it wouldn't last that long. Yeah, exactly, but it looked sick that first day. Those are great, boys. Let's take an ad break. We'll be right back. It's fall. There's nothing like fall. God, I miss New England Falls. But still, fall is here. Football's back. You know, the group chat heats up. The fantasy football leagues are back. I just had two drafts. I feel pretty good.
Starting point is 01:37:33 It's all going to go to hell. But right now I feel all right. Everybody's talking about their team. Your Sundays are booked. Starting point is 01:42:33 Let's get ready to close things out with a nice beer league hotline and a blind ranking. Let's start with the Beer League Hotline. Hotline. Ev, the doc, what do we got? In 2020, when the leagues were shutting down, the team I was on folded. I met another good group of guys, but their team was folding too. Some guys moved, some quit, but a few of us decided that I should start a team. Fast forward, the pylons, great name, have been a dominant force for about five years, winning two league titles, but come short of the playoff championship each time. This year, we are losing three of our guys who have been here since the team was created.
Starting point is 01:43:10 We found replacement players, but the guys leaving don't want to give their jerseys back. New jerseys are $200 each. They are reversible. So there's that. Do we make the... Sex genius. I know.
Starting point is 01:43:22 That is great. Do we make the new guys buy new ones? Do we make the guys keeping them pay to replace them? And to be honest, it's just one guy being stubborn. The other two handed them back already. And I was the best man at the stubborn guy's wedding. Let me know what you guys think. because I don't want to start a pity fight over a jersey,
Starting point is 01:43:40 but need to know what is right and wrong and who should pay. Let's first start off by saying that Beer League hockey is the most expensive thing in the entire world. Dude, I just had to renew my USA hockey fees, and then they go, would you like to donate to USA hockey at the end of it? And I was like, are you high? You're like, I already did. This was the donation. No offense, USA hockey, but you rob me every single year.
Starting point is 01:44:02 I'm playing pick up hockey, dude. Grow up. Beer League hockey is the most expensive thing in the world. So that sucks. And I always hate having conversations about money because you never know what someone's situation is. I know. I know. That said, this is fucking insane.
Starting point is 01:44:16 Well, this whole, no, no, no. This whole thing is insane. There's no well. There's a simple question. No, there's no question to be had. You pay, I imagine everyone individually paid for their jerseys. This is my question. Fuck you.
Starting point is 01:44:30 I imagine everyone individually paid for the jerseys. If they did not, you obviously give them back. if they did, you, sir, are a clown moron for acting like they should give their jerseys back. If they didn't, absolutely give your jerseys back. But if they did, that jersey belongs to them. And frankly, when I leave a beer league team, I'm like, I would like to keep this jersey because it's good memories of the beer league team I was on. And given that it's like, the stubborn guy, is this a guy who's being stubborn about giving it back?
Starting point is 01:45:04 It sounds like. Oh, yes, yes, 100%. two others already gave it back. So now I'm presuming that you paid for the jerseys. So you go to your stubborn friend who you were the best man of and grab him by the face with two slices of bread and call him an idiot sandwich because this guy's a fucking clown. Obviously you give that jersey back if you didn't pay for it. Yes. And if you want it, just give him 200 bucks. This is so easy. Cut and dry. This guy is a clown. Either you have paid for the jersey and you keep it. And now the new guys buy a new jersey.
Starting point is 01:45:35 jersey or they didn't pay for it and you give it back or if you want to keep it give the $200 so they can get a new one. Dude, I am so 100% with you and I scoured the message. Sometimes I trim them down because of too long. I scoured this message to see if there was some sort of missing anything. Yeah, I was like who paid for the jersey and I can't tell. So yes. And it sounds like this guy genuinely is like I just I want to do what's right here. Dude, if you pay, Dan's right. If you paid for them, then take the jersey back. Or say, dude, just pay me 200 bucks. Well, how does it work in your league? Does it buy your own jersey. Oh, you buy your own.
Starting point is 01:46:07 Yeah, yeah. We pick jersey, then you pay for it yourself, and then it belongs to you. That's how every league should work. I will say, though, dude, not to call him out, but when people move, like long-term our team guys move away, RGM is often like, hey, can I get that jersey back? And I'm kind of like, bro, they bought that jersey. But I think it's a fair question. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:46:24 Like, frankly, if I, I would probably say no, because we played for paradox so long and we love paradox and, like, I want that jersey forever. Yeah. But if I played for, like, a year and he was like, You might if I get that, I'd be like, sure, dude. Yeah, so you don't care that you bought it. No, but again, that's me and my situation. It costs like 75 bucks.
Starting point is 01:46:42 I don't give a shit. So yeah, shout up, shut up, men'sing sweater. It's a cool like, hey, like, you know, get some new guys and here's the jersey. But also, our GM asks not being like, give me that. He's like, do you mind? Yeah. And if they're like, I do mind, he's like, cool. But it's better than just rotting in someone's bag for years.
Starting point is 01:46:57 I think that's why you get smart to ask. So if the GM here paid for them himself, he should absolutely either be getting it back from best stubborn friend or being like stubborn friend you need to pay. Yeah. You can keep it, but you need to pay me. Yeah. If stubborn friend did pay for the jersey, then I think my answer to this GM is then you need to let him keep it.
Starting point is 01:47:16 Of course. You go, dude, he's keeping that jersey and you need to buy a new one. And what do you do, Dan? Do you, are you allowed? This is a stupid question, never mind. I was going to say, would you, is the number retired or are you like, no, I'm just going to buy another number 10 and you can keep your number 10, but it's gone and I'm getting a new one.
Starting point is 01:47:32 The idea of retiring beer league numbers is the most embarrassing thing I've ever heard. I said it was a stupid question. Yeah, it is a stupid question. So, yeah, just to find out who paid, who paid for it? And then the math is easy. We've given you both solutions, and you can come to an agreement here. But I do think what you said earlier is important, an important factor in it, which is the memories. I think people are entitled to keep the jersey, come to some agreement and let them keep it if they want the memories.
Starting point is 01:47:56 I also, personally, if I was joining a league, I wouldn't want somebody's dirty old, sweaty jersey. Good point, actually. To be fair. but also if they didn't use it or if they sucked or didn't play very much. I'm like, were they good? Dave, we can wash jerseys, man. Yeah, but I still want some fresh threads.
Starting point is 01:48:12 Not if you're a Crosby acolyte like I am. You're allowed to wash jerseys guys. That's true. In fact, I will say this. I probably once a month wash my Beer League jersey and earlier in this episode, I refrained from sewering our friends. I will sewer kit right now.
Starting point is 01:48:28 Kit one day, we have a red jersey and a white jersey. one day showed up to Beer League wearing his white jersey and Kit doesn't wear shoulder pads. Rarely ever wears an undershirt. So there's just brown sweat stains in Kit's jersey and he smelled like shit on the ice to the point where another guy, a guy on another team said something. He was like, dude, what the fuck is this tactic, buddy? Like you smell like ass. And Kit at the face off like circles back to me and he goes, no, he goes, does my jersey really smell?
Starting point is 01:48:58 And I was like, buddy, not only does it stink, you look. look insane. It's covered in sweat. And we shamed him into washing his jersey and it was a good thing. Dude, that is awesome. Good thing. That is great. Okay, there's your answer. There's your answer. All right, Ev, let's get it to a Bower Hockey Blind Ranking. Close us on out with a Bower Hockey Blind Ranking. Blind Ranking Best Bar Foods for Football Game Day. Oh, hell yeah. Football's back, baby. Nachos. Okay. Such a good one to start, dude. Time out. Time out. Such a good one to start. Such a good one to start.
Starting point is 01:49:31 Here's my take. Nachos are better when homemade. What? As I explain, I don't think you're going to disagree. Okay, go on. When you, and I'm not talking someone bullshitting and making shitty. They just put shredded cheese on chips and microwave. Someone is invited to a football party at someone's house and they go, I'm in charge of nachos.
Starting point is 01:49:54 Someone who takes it seriously. When nachos are homemade, there's an adequate, appropriate layering of cheese. and topping on every chip and every layer of chip. I think over 50% of the time at a bar, when you order nachos, they pile chips on a plate and then dump the toppings. And those first few bites are great. But then after that, you have a full plate of just nude chips and nothing sucks more than that. I feel like every time I order nachos at a bar, the first few bites are amazing.
Starting point is 01:50:22 But then afterwards you go, this was a bad order. We shouldn't avoid this. I have a question for you. This doesn't have to be in the clip, but I have a question for you. And you can weigh in, Evan. Would nachos be better served, deconstructed? Like, they go, if I order nachos, they just present me a bowl of plain chips, and then there's 10 bowls of like sour cream, guac, salsa,
Starting point is 01:50:44 jalapeno, cheese, whatever. And I'm like, thank you. And now I'm just making every bite. No, because then you've got to spend the whole time focusing on making it and you're not watching the game anymore. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, I missed the game. You know, yeah, because it's a lot of concentration.
Starting point is 01:50:56 Because I do think that even perfectly homemade nachos, No bite. You can never make it so every bite is great. But deconstructed, I could. But it is too distracted. My problem with nachos in a group setting is if it's more than two people, you start to get all these hands in there. Oh yeah. And I get bite anxiety, like the same when you have pizza anxiety, and you're like, how many slices is everybody going to have? Should I have two slices? Should I have three slices? Like, should I get the good chunk of fucking chicken right now? Or should I let my wife have that chunk of chicken because it's more polite. So the bite anxiety is so real. That's awesome. When you're in a group and it's more than two or three people. Also extremely messy, you know, or at least I find I'm, I'm,
Starting point is 01:51:36 like, God damn, I got very messy eating these nachos. There are other foods that I get messy with, but I'm okay with it. Yeah. I can go four here, Dan. I could go four. I think it is four. Okay, we're going to go four. Okay, we're going to go four. Wings, bone in wings. I won. One. And Dan, it's wings. I can hear, I can already hear the complaints through the screen. They're too messy. You don't even like getting your sands messy very often, very often, because you're like, oh, now I've got to go wash my hands. You don't like that. I get that wings are messy.
Starting point is 01:52:03 I get that bone less can be a popular alternative. And sometimes, not bite anxiety, but sometimes the numbers are tricky with wings. Yeah. With how many people you got at the game, whatever. Also, do you, if you're more of a wing, wing guy, or if you're a drumstick person? Yeah, flats is drumsticks. I'm a flat guy. But that's such a thing.
Starting point is 01:52:24 So I can hear all the complaints, all the little complaints. but it does not matter wings and football did and I'm not really that guy usually but wait sometimes dude I'll be at a good bar we're doing like a football day and it's never I don't do that that often but we'll be at a bar and I just I have like another beer another like pumpkin spice beer hey shut out pumpkinhead uh yeah you shipyard I did get it I got another beer and I'm like hammering a wing and like my hands are covered in buffalo sauce and there's like little blue cheese on my yeah you got Bruce Brudra going and I'm like God and in that moment I'm not not disgusted with myself, I'm like, this is perfect. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:52:59 Everything is perfect. I drank five of those pumpkin, shipyard pumpkins in one night. It's incredible, dude, good for you. I cannot wait to get one when I go home. Okay. It's just like wings. I think of football when I eat wings. I can eat wings in the middle of summer.
Starting point is 01:53:12 I can eat them in spring and I think about football. And, I mean, listen, some bars don't do it great, but most bars do. Yeah. And wings at during football is the number one for sure. Easy. Fried pickles. Oh. Great one.
Starting point is 01:53:27 Dude, I can go two here. I fucking love fried pickles. I'm going to try to honor this list being football. I am. Now, you're being reactionary, and I love a pickle. I like pickles more than you. Chips, chips are spears. Chips.
Starting point is 01:53:42 Well, chips is far superior. Yeah. Chips are way better. We're doing chips because anyone that does fried pickles as Spears, you're a fucking idiot institution. You should be. You should be. You're an idiot institution.
Starting point is 01:53:53 Every time I order that and they come out of Spears, I'm always like, I'm saying, I'm like, you fucking nuts. If I were one of the people that, if I were a health inspector and I went into a bar and it was the most pristine, clean bar of all time, and then I ordered fried pickles and they came out of Spears, I'd give them a fucking D. F. Unbelievable. All right. So fried pickle chips then? I love these more than anything.
Starting point is 01:54:14 However, I think you might be short selling. I'm doing great football snack. Dude, they're great. They're great, but I'm trying to honor football season. I'm not sure I necessarily think of them. when I'm watching football. Like when I sit down with the gang to watch football at the bar,
Starting point is 01:54:32 am I immediately going, we're going to order some... When we go, dude, the game's on, let's hit the bar, we're going to order some wangs. We're going to go order some, you know. Do you say fried pickles? I think so now.
Starting point is 01:54:42 I think they've entered the chat. Don't say other things you're thinking of because I don't want to like... So you want to go to Chris and Dan, you want to go three? Yeah. They're surely not five. Well, of course.
Starting point is 01:54:56 No. I think I would want to go three for the purposes of what... We gotta go three, man. Okay. Three. Okay. They are two if this was gonna be wrong, but we'll see.
Starting point is 01:55:10 Sliders. Two. That is more of a, because you don't want to fill up too much. Yeah, because then... Siders fill you up. I'm done fried pickle chips. No, Chris, because the whole point is you're not going by yourself. If you go to the bar with four or more people, even
Starting point is 01:55:24 three or more people, sliders are perfect because you each have one slider. You don't fill too much. We need a little bit more protein. Sliders are trash, dude. Oh, I think a good slider hits like crack. I wish the bread to meat ratio on a slider. That's a bad slider. Well, that's most slider. We just brought up Pickle Spears.
Starting point is 01:55:41 We're not, we're considering. I want this to be five and now it's going to be two. And my life is. We can go five. We can go two, five if you want. But I think, I think a slider is a great, great football thing because it's, it's some protein. It doesn't fill you up too much. There's not enough. They don't come as three.
Starting point is 01:55:57 You haven't had a good enough slider. That might be true. Some sliders are fucking crack. Let's go five. Five, okay. Wow. Five and your number two slot belongs to mozzarella sticks. Thrill! Yes, Chris! Yes! Thrill! Credit to me for being so willing to go to five. Yep. Mott sticks are the fucking best. You know, that's awesome. Boom! Give me mottsticks all day. Dude, just...
Starting point is 01:56:26 Nice cheese. God. That is good, dude. I might, I got, got some tonight. Do you like the flat ones, too, or just the regular rounds? I like them all. I like them all. I like them all.
Starting point is 01:56:35 I like them all. Okay. Can't go wrong. I guess sometimes they're too short. You know, like I want it to be... Three bites. Yeah. I want it to be three bites.
Starting point is 01:56:45 That's my dream matzic. It's three bites. Three bite, Mottie? Yeah. Yeah, I could see that. Usually for me, it's one bite. I burn the fuck out of my tongue and then I eat the breading afterwards. Yeah, you're like, fuck.
Starting point is 01:56:54 It all comes out at once. Yeah. That's awesome. Hey, great list. I'm pretty pleased with that. Great list. Football's back. Football's back.
