Starting point is 00:00:01 Oh, God. Holy shit. Ice is ready. Welcome back to another empty netters live. I don't even know where Dan is. I'm here. And I am not hurting. I'm just kidding.
Starting point is 00:00:20 I feel incredible. How about that? What a switcheroo. We are back. Holy hell. And also, I cannot believe. I cannot believe. I'm sitting.
Starting point is 00:00:31 here today talking about two eliminations because I feel robbed. I feel absolutely robbed of two game sevens. I was literally thinking to myself, we might get like six game sevens in the first round. And that was too much to ask, but it's still okay because my God, a couple hockey games happened last night. Those were playoff. Those were playoff games last night. Also, somebody killed me in this chat. Oh, actually, I'm not good at the intros. We got everybody on the sticks today. Who can they see, everyone? Yeah, switch.
Starting point is 00:01:08 We're here. Hello. Zach, we get Dr. Watkins. We got Nate. We got Liz. And listen, I don't know if you can see them. Yeah, you can. All the people that wonder, oh, my God, how are those thumbnails so sick?
Starting point is 00:01:20 The two people in the back, stand up for the people in the back. That's incredible. Boom. There they are. That's how you get all that madness. Dan is, Dan is in, I think, South Carolina already. And we're going to try to get him in here via the phone. He's probably, he's probably got 10 lucies in on the fucking golf course.
Starting point is 00:01:41 He's out of control. And somebody said this in the chat, which killed me, that Chris is a phone on 1%. And that is, that is correct. That is absolutely, absolutely correct. Okay, do they have audio? I've got a couple mics not on. Hold on. Let me know if you guys can hear me. But we can. Oh, you know what? Somebody said this. I'm going to get in the chat here.
Starting point is 00:02:08 If people can hear me. Yeah, use that other mic. Use the one you normally use. Hold on. Let's try that. See if you can reach it over to you. What about this one? Can people hear this one? Oh my God. We are fucking back. I knew it. knew it. I knew it. I knew it. Um, okay. So, uh, listen. What, okay, everyone's back. We're good. We have a couple insane games. I have a really fun guest that's going to come on and join and talk about the Minnesota series. The Minnesota win. Holy hell. How about that, Wild fans? It's been what,
Starting point is 00:02:46 fucking 10 years. Jesus Christ. First round, I wrote this down. First, eight in a row, first round losses for the Wild when they've made playoffs. Holy shit. Dan, Dan, Dan, is in South Carolina, I think, on a golf course somewhere. We're going to try to get him on the phone. All kinds of action last night. All right, I think the volume's good. It says echoey, but we might have to just deal with echoey. That's okay, unless this is happening. Let's just bring, well, we can bring down some of the other mics. Yeah, yeah. How about that? We'll bring him down. We're going to keep tweaking the audio as we go. This is going to be incredible. We are live. And two people are golfing. Well, Dan's golfing too, but two teams are golfing. I can't believe it.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Okay. I want to hear from the chat all episode. Audios in sync. I think we're good. I think we're good. I keep talking in the chat if there's any issues, but I think we're good. You let us know, chat. Let us know. Let us know. So get it together, Chris. We're not working on shit. Listen, he's not hung over. We're hung over. We're hung over. Have a fucking shitter beer and calm down. It's Friday morning. Enjoy yourself.
Starting point is 00:03:52 It's going to be a great weekend to hockey. We're going to have some great games tonight. I am so fucking fired out. Dude, I can't believe the ducks. I'm like shocked. I am an absolute shock. But should we not be that shocked, though? We shouldn't be, but we should be. But here's the thing, we shouldn't be, but we should be.
Starting point is 00:04:09 And it's because playoffs are different. Like the ducks were better than the oilers all year, but it's insane that the oilers did not have any playoff juice. We're going to get to it. We're going to get to it. Let me text. Let me text my first special guest. We have special guests coming.
Starting point is 00:04:28 We think this feels good, right? We can go. Yeah. We just had the mics. We're not linked up. Oh, let me put my headphones on. Let me put the headphones on. We got some guests coming.
Starting point is 00:04:37 So I can hear it. So I can hear special guests. It's going to be, which one, Eva? Yeah. And can I, actually, I can hear myself just fine. I'm loud enough. Are you kidding me? I'm always loud enough.
Starting point is 00:04:47 Here we go. All right. Bang. She's going to join as soon as she does. All right. So people, we're starting with Dallas. Minnesota. I saw someone in the chat just say their cup pick up bounced. I don't blame you. And listen, I, because, oh, actually, I don't know if I've said this. In my bracket in the
Starting point is 00:05:05 empty netters challenge, I had Minnesota Boston in the final. Well, I said, I just said, you can click, so I'm sure she'll be, she'll be in any second. I picked a Minnesota Boston final because I was like, it felt like a Herb Brooks 1980 year. Yes, God. Okay. Eva, talk. Let me see if I can hear you in these headphones. Okay. Oh yeah, Bing, there it is. God. Okay. Holy hell, Eva Erickson. Welcome to the Empty Netters live and it is a good day to be a wild fan. Oh, absolutely. I'm so excited. Holy smokes. Okay, where were you watching? What were you like? Because obviously it's game
Starting point is 00:05:44 six home game. Were you there or were you getting dialed at home? What was the plan? I was at home here in Providence. I was at game five in Dallas. So I like, that was my trip. I went to the away game, which was electric to see a wild win, but of course, seeing it in the opposing rank isn't as fun, you know? So I've yet to go to one in St. Paul, but I was just home and I was going crazy. Like my roommates were like going to bed and I'm like screaming in my living room. Dude, well, first of all, I think you were the difference in a pivotal game five, which gave you the chance to win it at home. And I need everybody to know, I texted Eva yesterday because we went to came to. Wild January 3rd or something, right? Because we were at Winter Classic and then we come back.
Starting point is 00:06:30 And outside, we're walking into the rink and a fan base recognizes Eva, obviously. And they're like, oh my God, we loved you and Survivor. Can we get a pick? And it was actually a taste of my own medicine because it's usually the people I'm with at games have to take pictures of me and fans. And like, they're coming up to me like, will you take our pick? And I'm like, uh-huh, for sure. and they handed us a ton of these homemade Minnesota Wild stickers, and they were awesome, right? And I had a million, I attached them to some stuff at my house, but I had so many loose in my pocket.
Starting point is 00:07:00 And I swear to God, before the game, I get in my car. I'm leaving this event, and I find, I don't know if the camera can see this, but I find this one Carill Caprizov wild sticker. And I text, even before game six, and I was like, look what I just found in my car. This is a sign. This series is over.
Starting point is 00:07:15 She was like, I need it. And holy hell did they deliver. That was insane. Oh my gosh. It was electric. It definitely the stickers were helping out. I was doing everything. Like I legitimately had so much as my like heart was set on this.
Starting point is 00:07:29 I was like, we can't go to game seven. Like we need to finish it here and now at home. And I, oh my gosh. Just you could hear how electric that rink was. Cheeky. Just through the broadcast. Oh my God. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:40 So I always say playoff elimination game for the road team. If they're the team up against it. I said this, uh, in the other series, whichever, whoever just got bounced, but I was like, you have to manage that 10 minutes, the first 10 minutes. And the, to have Quinn Hughes, little towy dangle snipe job seven minutes in, were you, were you over, were you over eager in that moment? Were you like, we did it? I was losing my mind. I was, I was like, we got to keep this rolling. Because I get so, like, you get kind of into a lull when you're like, oh, we're up, we're good. And I was like, no, we got to keep this energy. And I believe that we just got to
Starting point is 00:08:15 got to keep forcing it. And once again, it just shows how like key Quinn is to our team, that that's what like set it off and get it going is that like having him on our roster right now is the difference maker because now we're like, we're the full package. Oh my God. And it was a pretty tight first after that. But I thought Dallas, I think they finished with four shots, but literally with two minutes left, they had two shots in the period. And I was like, man, you are in massive trouble. Like going into that break, I was like, Dallas is dead, which you never want to feel because you get overconfident, but I was like, man, there's, you want that flurry where you go, we're going to break through, but leaving that period with two, four, I guess, but four shots
Starting point is 00:08:51 in the period, they must have been in shambles and intermission. Oh, I bet. But I mean, they did come out and then got one in after the intermission there. So the funny story about that one is on that goal. I had just gotten off FaceTime meeting one of my buddy's new kids, who the kid's name is Wyatt. And I was like, oh my gosh, I'm meeting baby Wyatt for the first time. and I was so excited, and then I, like, look up and all of a sudden, Wyatt Johnson is scoring a goal on the wild. And I was like, it's your child's fault. I'm so mad. I'm going to hate this kid for life if we lose this game because of your child being named Wyatt causing this goal.
Starting point is 00:09:25 And luckily, that didn't happen. So, like, I'm chill with baby Y right now. But, oh, that was from the other day. Oh, my God. That was so funny. Literally, Eva's texting me like, yeah, just, yeah, we won't say who because I don't want their baby getting stock. But it was like. It hasn't been revealed yet who, but, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:40 It was like, hey, I'm. FaceTiming my friend and just met baby Wyatt and then immediately Wyatt Johnson on the power play again by the way like chill dude and I literally even was like I am this is literally this entire baby's fault and I was like man this baby if Wyatt Johnson gets another one this baby needs to go into witness protection like this is yeah exactly and it's a girl named Wyatt like the baby is a girl named white and I was like if you were going to name a girl a boy name couldn't you pick Quinn like Quinn like let's get Quinn he was foreign that is hilarious I'm legitimately this is more big picture but your powerplay will need to get going if you want to beat the Fs.
Starting point is 00:10:16 It's hard to survive playoff series when there's a special team's discrepancy like you guys had. And what's crazy, though, is you've had such good possession. Sometimes when a power play sucks, it's like we can't even break out, we can't even get it in the zone. You guys snap it around for two minutes and just nobody can fucking score. It's insane. No, it's ridiculous. And I think in addition to that, we really have to lock it down on our PK because we had, what, 10 power play goals scored against us during these six games.
Starting point is 00:10:41 That's ridiculous. And now the bright spot here is that the abs, they only scored two power play goals in their four games. And so their power play is pretty weak, which is crazy considering how much talent is on that team. You'd think they'd have a good power play, but they're one of the worst power plays in the league. And so maybe that will help us in this next round here.
Starting point is 00:10:58 We're like, yeah, like, we're not great at killing, apparently. But also, they're not great at scoring on the power play. So maybe that'll balance out. But yeah, we need to start, like, tucking more in on our power play. Power play for sure. Yeah, that would be such a massive help. And then the, what was killer for me watching is, you get the power play goal by the Stars and you're like, all right, whatever, this is what they do. We're just going to manage to stay out of the box as best we can. But the stars hadn't scored five on five in a billion years. I forget what the stat was. But then they get one. Maverick Bork, bangs one in to go up to one.
Starting point is 00:11:28 And these are the moments where as a fan, you know, for me in neutral, I'm like, I announced this game over after the first intermission. And now it's two one stars. They've got to a five-on-five goal. Were you in hell in this moment? Oh my God. I was just like, I was kicking myself being like, how can we be in this position here? I just, I'm so used to Minnesota sports disappointing me. Just like it always, I get my hopes up. I feel like, oh my gosh, I can actually be good. And then just like torn apart, ripped a shreds. And I was really worried that it was going to like spiral into one of those games where all of a sudden Dallas takes off with it and we look dead out there. And so seeing us like maintain composure and then get after it was like really
Starting point is 00:12:06 good. But yeah, it's always spooky when all of a sudden it's like, oh, okay, they're coming back. I know. And it was like, I, so Eva, I think to myself all the time, because I know, I know Walsh said got a piece of that, but essentially it carams off the endboards and like sneaks back out in front. There are so many goals in playoffs that bounce off the end boards that I'm like, I'm of two minds. Either in playoffs, goalies have to just stay in their net. Like, everybody calm down. Or, or in the regular season, we aren't firing enough pox off the end board. One of two things is true, and I don't know what it is. Yeah, no, and that is a weird difference.
Starting point is 00:12:42 I do feel like the boards are like zippier and stuff in the playoffs. I'm like, do they like change the advertising behind the net or something, like redo the boards, and then it's all sudden like bouncy like crazy? But no, yeah, I've noticed that too. That is weird. It's a conspiracy. But like speaking of bounces, can we talk about the fact that Quinn purposefully did a bank shot? Like, I've never seen that.
Starting point is 00:13:03 What was that? Oh, my God. And you know what's crazy? So Quinn, and I want to talk about the Vlad goal too, but Quinn has an assist on that one. He scores the, which was the game winner, right? Because they finished with two. Yeah. Scores the game winner. Crill is backdoor. Like you can see Krill. Quinn can see everything. Quinn can see fucking three streets over. You think you're, dude, don't do anything embarrassing in your bedroom while the Wild game is on because Quinn can fucking see it five blocks away. It's insane.
Starting point is 00:13:29 So I know he sees everything, but he banks one in. And in that moment legitimately, I, and I'm, or I guess, this was against the abs last year. This wasn't against you. It's okay. But the, um, it, the abs being up to O in game seven against the stars, looking like it's over. And then Miko Ranton and goes Hattie and just kills them. And he's their new chip, their new trade piece. This, this was that Quinn Hughes moment for me where I was like, holy shit. I know it's game six, not seven, but like, you don't, you want this game in Minnesota so bad. To have Quinn Hughes have two goals and an assist in essentially a three two win where he has the fucking game winner. What a moment
Starting point is 00:14:06 for the new kid. It was incredible. Wild. And just, it once again shows how he is just like seeing the game at a plane above everyone else. Because as he's getting that fed across to him there, I'm seeing like, goalie still shifted over, it's wide open. And I was like, he's got to whip that super quick.
Starting point is 00:14:22 And he took a second. And I was like, in my head, I was just like, what is he doing? I was screaming. I was like, you have to shoot that. Like, I hate the people. Yeah, you're the shoot fan. But like, now I'm the person being like, shoot it. Like, you've got to get that off quick. Like, it needed to be like one touch. one T because like we know Otter is a phenomenal goal he's going to get over if it's more than a second. But Quinn took that extra second and he read the play and instead of making that shot there,
Starting point is 00:14:44 he shot it into traffic to purposely bounce it off the players and go in on the opposite side after Otter had moved over. And that is just such a high hockey IQ that like can't even, you can't teach that. Yeah. You can't like the he's drawn up plays that like no one's even thought of. And like the way that this man just constantly looks so good. dead and like he hates being there and that he's haunted by ghosts and then it's just brainstorming the craziest move. I was like, I don't know what goes on in his brain, but it should be studied because he is amazing on every level. Eva, Sandra always asked me what, you know, because she like the other non-hockey fan internet has become so obsessed with Quinn Hughes and just roots for him no
Starting point is 00:15:23 matter what? And she was so fired up last night. But she asked me, what, what is he actually doing on the bench when he's just staring like that? And I don't know literally because I don't ask him, but I'm positive. He's thinking about plays that have happened in the game where he's like, oh yeah, this went down. I wonder if I could have done that differently. He's always assessing options.
Starting point is 00:15:41 And he's like, that's why he thinks of things like this, where he goes, man, next time I get that one coming down the strong side, I'm just going to fire it into traffic and see what happens. It's bad. And that wins the game. It's amazing.
Starting point is 00:15:52 And like as a player too, and being a defenseman, I am constantly, every time I get off the ice, I'm replaying a shift in my head. And I do it on the side where I'm more defensive, so I'm always thinking that it's like, oh, how could I have stopped this play better? I know full well that, like, doing things like that keeps you in the game and keeps you going. I hope I don't look like I'm seeing ghosts when I do that.
Starting point is 00:16:11 But, like, he's certainly that, like, mentally walking through it, I'm sure that he's doing is really translating to some phenomenal plays on the ice. And we're just guessing, because he could just be sitting there totally dazed out, like thinking about what he had for dinner. We have no idea. But whatever he's doing, it's working. It also could be ghosts. Like, I love that Quinn Hughes has a supernatural ability that no one knew about.
Starting point is 00:16:31 out and now all of a sudden the whole internet is on to him and he's like oh fuck how do i how do i convince the whole world i'm not talking to ghosts when really there's been the yeah it's like someone on the show like the amount of like montage clips i get of him like falling and like like looking on athletic not being able to get over the boards that's when the ghosts are mad at him like they just occasionally got to like yank his feet out from under him to keep him in chat because he's getting too powerful so like it's like it's a balance here like you know he has to take a few hits from the ghost to like be able to make a play later but like hey he's he's working at his best he can. Absolutely, absolutely correct. Also, I love that, I mean, you know full well, but anybody
Starting point is 00:17:07 that's been watching this series, Quinn has made a massive impact, right? He's so dangerous all the time. You watch the Olympics. The studs on Team USA are deferring to Quinn Hughes, which is crazy, right? Like, that's how good this kid is. But it was so awesome in Milan to have him get that OT goal against Sweden, because as much as you're doing as a one-man breakout, as playing incredible D, as being a power play quarterback, all that stuff that you're doing, it's still nice to have fucking impact on the score sheet in a huge moment. So it was so sick to have him have this, like actual, tangible bang, two-gole impact.
Starting point is 00:17:42 Wild fans must have just been going apeshit to see him get this moment. Oh, for sure. And he's an amazing player in both he's like phenomenal defenseman and that creative offensive defenseman, like contribution he has to whatever team he's playing on. And there's so many times that it doesn't convert into a goal, that he makes some amazing insane play and you're like, oh my God, but it doesn't end up on the score sheet. And so people who maybe aren't as in tune with what's going on on the wild specifically aren't seeing how amazing incredible he is because it's not always converted.
Starting point is 00:18:13 But when he does convert there, it is amazing. Just like you said, with that game in Milan and everything and seeing it in this game, he has just an insane brain on him. And I'm glad to see that it's converting and making such an impact out there. Yeah, it's nuts. And then obviously, boldly, did he get both? Or did he just get the first one? He got both. Yeah, he got both empty nutters.
Starting point is 00:18:32 It's so sick. What a series from him. I don't know when people, and maybe I'm too close to it, but I still feel like people aren't aware that Matt Boldy is a massive superstar. And I mean superstar. People go, Matt Boldy's great. And I'm like, no, no, he is literally in the top echelon of players in the league. I mean, you must be fired up about him, too.
Starting point is 00:18:52 This might be a hot take, but I think that Boldie is more of an impact player on our team right now than Corrillas. I think you're right. Right. And Krill hasn't been bad. I feel like people are killing him. He hasn't been bad. But Matt Boldie, I mean, he carried a lot of the weight in the series for sure, right? Absolutely. He's the, I know like the last few years, Krill had really been that player where people would look at him and when he got the puck, the other team scared. They're like, oh, God, what is he going to make happen? What kind of play is going to come out of this? Because he was that player that everyone feared that he's like the next big thing here. And I felt that not that he's like dropped off and isn't really being an impact anymore. That's not true. He is still such an impact player. But I think the player that it shifted to being worried about has become Boldie because he is making some crazy plays out there. And I think he's converting more and kind of having, like stepping into a role here that people expected Capri's off to fill. And now I think Boldie is really taking that on. But I think both of them together are what is making the Wilde so successful because they are both amazing players and are contributing in different ways.
Starting point is 00:19:51 And so, yeah, I'm really happy to see that Boldie has stepped up. And he is such a good deal for us. Like we're paying so much for real. paying nothing for Boldie. Like this man, we like bought him at prices that you could like go to Walmart and pick up something. Literally. We're spending Gucci money on Karel. We're spending Walmart money on Boldie.
Starting point is 00:20:09 And both products are amazing. You know, you know when you go to like you want new ski gear, but it's summer. It's the middle of summer. So they're like, here you go. Like you can have it for nothing because it's July. Yeah. And like you guys bought Boldie in July and got an insane deal. But I actually love this take because you're right.
Starting point is 00:20:26 They just average out into what you should be paying both of them. The two of them together are a fair deal, total. But Krill's getting all the money. I hope Krill takes Boldy to a lot of fucking dinners. They should be splitting those contracts, but it actually works out perfectly. It's insane. Absolutely. It's like that joke about like, oh, it's like, oh, you like bought in low when you're like
Starting point is 00:20:45 started dating your girl who like didn't get hot yet. And all of a sudden she had a glow up. And now she's like an absolute bombshell. Like that's what we're looking at with Boldy. He took his glasses off and took his ponytail down. And everyone's like, holy hell. This guy's hot. He got his braces off.
Starting point is 00:20:58 and all of a sudden we're like, damn. You know what, too? Last year, I remember, I know you guys lost, but in that Vegas series, it felt like Krill scored every time he got it. Every time it was power play. Anytime they found Krill, it was in the back of the net.
Starting point is 00:21:11 And that's been boldy this series, which is amazing because you've needed it. But the luxury is in a playoff run, talk to any team that's gone on a long playoff run, it's never one guy the whole time. You need everybody. And it's like, now Krill can just get going in the next series. And then you're laughing, right?
Starting point is 00:21:28 It's like the luxury of having Boldy do what he just did and having Krill not even firing yet is amazing. Yeah, everyone's talking about like that big three that we have where we have Caprizov, Boldie, and Hughes. But also I think I want to propose a fourth person that's been a huge impact is Faber. Yeah. Faber is phenomenal. And I think in a few games, especially early in the season or early in the series, he was playing better than Hughes and having more impact out there. I mean, what was that? Like game three where the wild looked just like dead.
Starting point is 00:21:57 Like Faber was the only one. doing anything. And like, I think that he has really stepped up and seeing that pairing of favor with Hughes, that is just a phenomenal duo. And I think that they are probably, in my opinion, the best de pairing in the league right now. Eva, we said that the other day. We said, I maybe was on Twitter or something, but we were like, they're the best deep pairing. And we got so many comments like, oh, did McCar and Tays die? And I didn't hear about it. And I'm like, okay, I hear you. But, yeah, and listen, actually, Quinn in favor play fine D2. But I I get that Tay's is probably maybe the best defenseman, defensive defenseman in that group.
Starting point is 00:22:33 And I know he can contribute offensively, but he does that job so well. He lets KL be Kale. But my God, is it fun? If you are a hockey fan and you're sitting and sit here and tell me it's not fun to watch Quinn Hughes in favor play on the same blue line. You are out of your mind. Yeah, no, it's amazing. And knowing that they carry that to the Olympics, too, that it's like they bend together.
Starting point is 00:22:53 They know how they're playing together. And they like are just a great duo. and we're going to get that opportunity to see which PR is better because we are facing off against the abs next year. And so I think it really, both of these teams start by having that, like, great D core to start that they have the top D pairings that are phenomenal. And both have, like, decent goal tending here, which is great, like that that's not like a big weak point to worry about.
Starting point is 00:23:15 And so I think it's going to be a really, like, interesting matchup and is definitely the wild has the hardest path to get to the cup. Oh, my God. It's insane. Undisputed hardest path to get there. But if we can get through the ab, then I think that it's smooth sailing. Like this is the hardest.
Starting point is 00:23:30 This is the Stanley Cup round that we're about to have. This should be the sailing cup. Legitimately, there's a very real chance. There's a car game I play with my friends all time where I constantly scream. There's a very real chance. And I actually believe there's a very real chance that this is the Stanley Cup final. And if you think about it, the Oilers had been so scary always because they're the oilers.
Starting point is 00:23:49 And we're going to talk about this later in the live. But the Oilers felt like they would come out of that Pacific bracket. and now you've got a rolling Connor McDavid, Leon Drysidal. And that was going to be the central path. Like, okay, you've got to beat Dallas, then you've got to beat the Aves, then you've got to beat the Oilers, then you've got to beat Tampa or Montreal or some incredible East team. But I kind of hear you now with the Oilers being out and the way the other side shaking out and the way the East has looked a little bit, if you get through the abs,
Starting point is 00:24:15 you feel incredible. That would be so nuts. So yeah, the, oh, I want to say this too about Vlad. Like I said, you need that depth. I was looking at Vlad is such a funny player because he's, we see this a lot in the league where it's like, you know, mega all-star, towards the end of his career,
Starting point is 00:24:32 gets signed by a team like he was on Florida a couple years ago. And you go, oh, I hope he turns back the clock and is incredible. And he's not quite that, but he gives you what you need. I think, I looked it up. I think he had five and four in that Florida run. Like, you know, ends up having five goals in 24 games. Perfect. And to see him get on the board here,
Starting point is 00:24:51 I thought was so huge. because it was a great goal, huge moment in the game. And also, this is what you need from a Teresenko. Like, if you can get four or five goals in a playoff run from Teresenko, that's how you win the cup. So that was sick too. Oh, hell yeah. And that Sully was like, oh my God, that was the bad. And it's like, because he knows his job, right? You know what I mean? Like, he's just having fun out there. He pops one in. He's like, let's fucking go, boys. Oh, dude. That, I just, I can't believe, I'm so jealous of everyone that was there. That must have been such an incredible atmosphere. But I give you guys so much credit because, you know, Dallas three straight Western Conference
Starting point is 00:25:27 finals, so many expectations, go up to one in the series where it feels like, uh-oh, you know, they did there. They'd get tanked in game one, but here they come. Minnesota is back to another first round exit over 15 years or whatever it is since you guys made the second round. I give you guys so much credit because you fought back the whole way, win in game five in Dallas, which was massive, but means nothing if you lose this game. and the stars go up to one
Starting point is 00:25:53 and God, there is no quit in this team at all against a lot of adversity. It was awesome. Yeah, no, it was just amazing to see that. And like, with saying that, like, Tarasenko that it's like, yeah, like, he's like near the end of his career or whatever, I heard a stat like on the broadcast that it was like,
Starting point is 00:26:09 The Wild is one of the oldest teams that are in playoffs right now. Damn, is that true? Yeah, yeah. I mean, comparing to like, like, the Canadians where like everyone on their top lines is like my age or younger. Yeah, yeah, the ducks. The ducks are all 12. have like, yeah, the Wild has like these older players who are like trying to have that last push there and are just like really contributing in great ways. And like think about like we brought in like Nick Felino and everything too and stuff. It's like they're these depth players that it's like they're not like our top guys. But that's not what they're expected to do. And they're filling that role really like importantly here. And that's what's making a difference. And so it's great to see. The one thing that I like wish that we had brought in near the end here was getting a better center. I think that. Our biggest, like, issue is going to be, like, centers.
Starting point is 00:26:54 But so far has been so good. But it's interesting because, like, I think that's, that's definitely a weak point that we have. Yeah. And it's tough, too, because the a abs are so deep down the middle. You know, that's a fucking tough matchup. But I will say, I mean, it's tough to say that you never know until a series starts. But I will say that the aves were forced, or maybe by choice, but whatever, were kind of forced to play a different style against the Kings.
Starting point is 00:27:18 The Kings were really trying to muck it up, play these low-scoring games, beat them two-one, type thing, and you have been in these intense high-flying high-octane games, which is certainly how you're going to play against the Aves. I think it benefits you guys to be able to roll right into the series and have been in a series against Dallas versus the Aves who are coming off
Starting point is 00:27:35 a little rest and coming off a four-gamer that they were challenged but weren't playing at all the style that they're about to play. So I got to think you feel pretty good coming in. Yeah, I mean, that's all... I think there's just so much excitement surrounding that it's like, hey, we made it out of the first round. Like, there'd been jokes the last few years about
Starting point is 00:27:51 us being the new Toronto. I know. I made them. For first, for stock. And we've broken out of that. And so that's already like an extra push that it's like, hey, like, this is our time. And knowing, yeah, we just came off of playing Dallas, who after the abs is like another
Starting point is 00:28:05 one of the top teams in the league and that we took them out. And now we're going on to play. Who is what I consider probably the best team in the league right now? And that just knowing that it's like coming in with that underdog mentality, it really gives you an extra push. And I think that we are a gritty team that's going to come in flying because, yeah, we just came off of that. We're ready to roll. And we have a lot to prove here against a team that has shown that they are one of the best in the league. I know. And I also think, too, and maybe you won't agree. But I think for a wild fan being in the second round now, and getting through who you got through, not just in the second round because you beat a low seed.
Starting point is 00:28:40 Getting through Dallas, coming up against the abs, a bit, I know you never want to lose, but a bit, you got to feel like this is house money for you guys where you go. you come in no pressure, where the abs are the president's trophy wagon, so much pressure. If they get bounced in the second round after getting bounced in the first round last year, it's a disaster. You guys get to come in and just play. And I think that'll feel great for everyone in that locker room. Yeah. Oh, for sure.
Starting point is 00:29:04 And we brought up the president's trophy. That's something that we can hold on to that it's like, hey, like, that thing's cursed. Yes. That thing is cursed. And so, like, we can be the ones to, like, make that curse happen here and take the abs out because everyone knows that you win that, you're going nowhere. And so that's another hope that it is. You kind of, yeah, having that weight off your back that it's like, we made it through
Starting point is 00:29:26 the first and now we proved that we belong and now like we're just proving ourselves that we can do more. But it's not like a if we lose, which we're not going to, I believe we're going to win and make it out of this. It's, we didn't have those same kind of expectations that the aves did. And so it's not as much of an upset. But I think that we can power through them. They are quite the wagon, like you said.
Starting point is 00:29:47 Oh my God, it's going to be an insane series. Also, how about Walsed? Can you believe the performance from this kid? I, Eva, did you want Gus in that to start? Or did you want them to go Walshead? I thought they were going to go once. Like at the beginning of the series, I mean, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, no.
Starting point is 00:30:04 Like, the beginning of the series, I thought they were going to go Gus because I think that Walshead had a bit, like, when he's on, he's on. But then there was some times during the season where it was like, okay, like, he's off and should be Gus. But they're both phenomenal contenders. It wasn't, like, like, upset. I was like, he'll be fine. But then he really, like, showed his stuff and took off here where he had just every game,
Starting point is 00:30:23 even the ones that we didn't win. Like, he was really making the saves that need to be made and was keeping this team together. Like, it starts from goaltending. And so having two solid goaltenders is phenomenal. And obviously it's like, we miss Flurry. He was great. Like a great, like, guy to have on the team for so many reasons. But I think that having these two phenomenal goaltenders together in like a duo that feels very, like,
Starting point is 00:30:45 solid in net is great. Yeah, well, actually, I can't believe he just said, Florian. It's such a good call. I will be, I mean, he's not lacking for cups, obviously. But it will be so sad if you guys win the cup this year and he's gone. I'm like, no, wow, damn it. But yeah, I'm so with you because, beginning of the year, I was like, oh, my God, Walsstad's going to win the Vesna and, you know, he's the future of the league. But then you guys really went to that tandem because Gus is so good. And down the stretch, I was with you. I was like, Gus is going to start just because it's a lot. It's a lot for a rookie who's just played the most games he's played at this level. And now he's getting thrust. into the playoffs against fucking Dallas. You know, it was a big ask. The spine on this kid to step up and he's going to get so rich. He is going to be so, so rich. This is insane. But what a performance?
Starting point is 00:31:29 The luxury of being able to go to Gus if he stumbles is so awesome. But I can't believe there was never even, it feels like there was never even a conversation to tandem in the playoffs. Like remember the Bruins when it was Swamen in Olmark that year? Yeah. They were going back and forth a little bit in the playoffs there. This was like, this is Walstead's net, which was fascinating to me, but holy shit, he stepped up. Yeah, I honestly like like that because I feel
Starting point is 00:31:53 like the, I think that when you give the goalie, like the confidence there, that it's like, we trust you in that, then they oftentimes will run away with that. You know, it's like sometimes having that like back and forth, oh, who's going to play like which one is it when they're, they are both great choices can be a little like hard on the mental, you know? And so I think that that does help someone lock in as being like, this is mine, I got this. And that everyone like is kind of rallying behind that. That it's like, yeah, we know that you're going to hold it down. he absolutely did. Yeah, for sure. Okay, what do you think about Dallas? Like, what do you think the attitude is at Dallas? So my buddy Dennis, who works in Raleigh was texting me. And he goes,
Starting point is 00:32:27 what I think is ridiculous is the Keynes have come up short. They haven't won, but they come up short. They make the Eastern Conference finals and they always lose. And all everybody does is dog the canes. Every year, right, the playoffs start. And they're like, oh, what are you going to pick Carolina? Like, all they do is lose. And he goes, how does Dallas not get this same treatment? Like, they have lost in the Western Conference finals for years ago. They just got bounced in the first round. And when he said that, I was like, you know what? You're right. Dallas doesn't get enough heat. What do you think about that? That's a super good point. You know, like, I hadn't even thought of that because, yeah, it is like Carolina is kind of a joke with that there. But I think that Dallas gets
Starting point is 00:33:03 away with it maybe because just the fan base isn't as, as like, focused on it as Carolina. You know, like, when fans grasp onto onto something, that all of a sudden, like, that's all that it is and it's a running thing. So maybe people just haven't picked up on it yet. But here and now having this, it's kind of like, hey, like, maybe open your eyes and see that, like, stars are not a great playoffs. They're not going to continue to go further. But I think that it is definitely compare them to Carolina because I think that is almost
Starting point is 00:33:31 like a similar situation there. Interesting. Yeah. What I think is going to be crazy for Dallas moving forward is when you don't win when you're this good. Because I've said many times, the Dallas roster construction is amazing. You look at that lineup. It's incredible. But if you don't win for this long, shit starts happening, bad shit. Like you look at the Leafs, Mitch Marner is gone. Because they're like, hey, we got to do something because people criticize you if you just bring the same team back and forth. And Dallas with this loss is hitting a point where I'm like, is Jason Robertson gone now? And I think that's insane because he's so good. But do you have to start mixing it up? At what point do you go, clearly this isn't working? Which sucks because you want to go, but this has to work. Look how good. we are. Like Roopay was hurt, blah, blah, blah, blah. But I'm like, I don't know. And it just
Starting point is 00:34:16 owners get panicky, GMs get panicky, coaches get panicky. It's a weird thing. And so it's a scary thought if you're a Dallas fan right now to go out this early because it could mean changes in the summer, which would be crazy. Yeah, it could really shake up. That's for sure. It would be interesting to see like a different Dallas team there because I feel like we've gotten so used to it being like, oh, like they got Honor. We got Robertson, you know, like it's these great players. And it is always interesting. when things switch around there, just like you were mentioning with Toronto. And another point with Toronto is I think that in the offseason, the wild is going to go after Matthews.
Starting point is 00:34:52 Oh, my God. That would be awesome. You know, like, I think that that's the center that we're wanting. And I thought we were going to actually go after Trocheck. Oh, yeah, that would have been sick. We talked about that too. Yeah. And especially, like, knowing that, like, Billy G really, like, definitely loves him and everything.
Starting point is 00:35:08 But I think that they might have shifted from that. And I could totally see Matthews joining the Wild for next season, which would be really interesting change up. I don't think that he's going to be staying with the Leafs for much longer. And I would love to see him added to our roster. God, can you imagine? Let's turn to Minnesota Wilders to Team USA. I'm here for that. That would be incredible.
Starting point is 00:35:29 I'm so down. Okay, I have two things. But with our Russians. With our Russians. We keep us. Right. Of course. I can't even believe I just said that when I've been announcing that it's now called
Starting point is 00:35:37 Mini Oskow, St. St. Petersburg. We've dumped Minnesota, Russia. So yes, it is Team USA and the Soviets. And peace. We found peace, actually. This is incredible. Yes.
Starting point is 00:35:48 We make world peace on the Minnesota Wild. Two things before I let you go, Eva. One, give me your series prediction wild abs. What do you got? Oh, I think this one is going to seven. I think that this is definitely going to seven games. I can totally see some overtimes as well. I think this is going to be a really hard thought.
Starting point is 00:36:08 Like this is the Stanley Cup, in my opinion. And I believe that the Wilde can come out on top of this. But we're going to have to come in with that same energy that we just finished this series off with. And so I think that it's going to go to seven and the Wild they're going to come out moving on to the next round. I love it. I've already declared Wild winning game one because Colorado's been resting and they're not ready. They're not ready for the smoke that you guys are coming with. So, okay, Wild and 7.
Starting point is 00:36:33 And then real quick, quick Survivor talk. You're watching. Are you enjoying it? How's season 50 going for you? Oh, well, so, okay, I'm not cut up in the recent episode because I was in Dallas and I had a terrible flight luck on my way back. So I don't know if people knew this. They had, I saw like graphics posted about it during the game, but there was a like softball
Starting point is 00:36:52 size hail warning during game five. And my sister and I had walked from our hotel that we were staying at in Dallas to the game, like a mile. And we're sitting there. I saw this on my phone and I was like, are we going to be getting pelted on our walk back? Like, when we first got to the game, the sky was like super eerie and stuff. And honestly, it like wasn't as full at the ring as I was expecting at the start.
Starting point is 00:37:13 And I was like, oh, is it like because the weather's going to be bad? Like there was a tornado watch. Yeah. So there's a lot of weird weather going on in Dallas. Ultimately, it did fill up. But the ring was still quieter than usual. Yeah, let's go. So, but then the next day, there was still like all this aftermath of weird weather and everything.
Starting point is 00:37:28 And so I had just a hell of a time getting back to Providence here. I was sitting on a tarmac in a plane for three hours without taking. off. And like, so I missed the episode on Wednesday. I was like, I'm a bad survivor fan. I'm behind. Planning to try to watch it this weekend. But, uh, yeah, so don't spoil who's going on. No spoils. No spoils. Yep. But yeah, so far, it's been a crazy season for sure. I mean, I was absolutely so upset about that blood moon a few weeks ago, sending her girl Camilla home. And now I'm just rooting for Joe out here, of court. That's my guy. But, uh, yeah, well, we'll see where it goes from here. I'm really pumped for that live finale. I will be at that in
Starting point is 00:38:12 LA. Okay, sick. I was going to ask. Yeah, that will be awesome. I can't wait. Yeah, I'm, well, because of you, I've always been a Joe guy. So rooting for Joe is so big. He's had a couple scares, but he's, he's hanging, he's doing, he's playing the game. And I actually think it's been so fun as a, as a new to Survivor with your season and on, and new to Survivor fan. It's been cool how the fans have been involved in this and all like the insane boomerang idols and all this shit that's going on that I'm glad they made 50 a real spectacle. It's been sick. Absolutely. Well, and so here's interesting. I know the last episode I watched was where they had the bucket challenge where Jeff competed in it, right? And now Jeff talked about it on the show there
Starting point is 00:38:51 being like that it was like, oh, we thought of this with Jimmy Fallon and whatever. I'm like that was a lie, Jeff, because we were the ones on my season. Actually, well, they were setting up the bucket challenge because we draw for spots and then they have to put your weight. It's like a percentage of your weight that's in the bucket. So it takes them a while to set that. up. And so we were sitting there and we're chatting with Jeff, just all of us like hanging out about to go like do a terrible challenge. And we told him that he should do this. We were like, you should get up there and you should do a challenge. And we were brainstorming with him how that would look. And we're like, oh, it could be for something that it's like you lose your vote if you
Starting point is 00:39:24 don't last longer than Jeff or like. Yeah, like something like that. And so we're giving him ideas and he's workshopping it back and forth with us like honestly interested in it. And so then when he actually ended up doing it on the show. I was like, yes, we gave him the idea. No way. Yeah, yeah. That was so cool. And I do got to say that he really let me down and how short his time was holding up that bucket. I was like, come on, man, you can do better than that. And that whole challenge, it's crazy like watching other people do it because when I did it, I held on to that bucket for I think it was like 30 minutes or so. And then Kyle and I dropped out. And then Joe and David went for an hour. Oh my God. They were up there an hour. And now watching, hearing them at like 12 minutes that half of the people had dropped, I was like, come on. What? There was no women left after like 20 minutes. I was like, we need some stronger people out here. What's going on. That is so epic. What an insane Baxter. I can't believe that. And also, credit, I actually like that Jeff fell early because it's a credit to you, how all, how good you guys are like the people that play Survivor are battling so hard to see Jeff, who's who's been there through everything.
Starting point is 00:40:35 thing. Who's seen every challenge ever? And he's like, actually, this is very hard. I can't do this. It's like, oh my God. And the montage of him giving players shit. And then while he was there and now they're giving him shit, I was like, yes, chirp the hell out of this man. Like, he's been chirping us all this time. I love that so much. My God. Eva, you are a legend. Thank you so much for joining. We've got wild and, first of all, congratulations. What a series win. Amazing. We got Wild and Seven. Do you think you'll be able to get to a game at all this series? Or are we going to wait? We're going to wait till the cup. I really hope so. I've been talking with the wild day.
Starting point is 00:41:08 They've been looking for people to do the let's play hockey and they reached out to me. Oh my God. I am really hoping. I'm still waiting for them to like connect me with actual details on this, but I'm really hoping to get to do that. That would be so insane. But if not, I'm trying to make one out to Colorado because the abs are a partner with Culture City.
Starting point is 00:41:28 And so I might be hitting another away game. But, you know, I got to bring that luck to the away rank. Like it worked for Dallas. So maybe that's what I got to do. But I'm going to be hoping to get out there. I'll bring the krill sticker and we'll take on the abs together. Let me know if you do that. That would be awesome.
Starting point is 00:41:46 I'll come with you because I would love to get to Denver and see a game there. It's incredible atmosphere. Absolutely. We'll talk offline about that. Fantastic. Okay, go catch up on Survivor and then get pumped for Wild Abs game one. Eva, thank you so much. Incredible to see you.
Starting point is 00:41:59 This was a blast. Hell yeah. Talk to you soon, Chris. Bye. See you. I think I'm thinking I'm back. Is that John Wick? I'm thinking.
Starting point is 00:42:09 I'm back. I'm thinking. Don't kill my, the dog was the stream and the stream got killed. Yeah, well, you're right. We killed the puppy. Our beautiful stream is our puppy, and it had to be killed for me to be back. And that's how hero journeys work. So, you know, deal with it.
Starting point is 00:42:27 Okay, so we're going Oilers Ducks. And this is another one, dude, that I can. cannot believe. Well, I'll save that. The Oilers, to start announced before the game, they're going McDavid, dry-sidal. Same line. Because they're like, and Noblock says, I want to go out swinging. You know, if we're going to go out, I want to go out with my best punch.
Starting point is 00:42:48 The one thing that I thought was weird about that was, if you're down 3-0, that sentence makes perfect sense to me. You go, we're getting killed, we got to fix something. Right. But they were playing, they're in every game. Like, it almost feels like they should have won some of these games. and they just rolled in game five and then to be like,
Starting point is 00:43:06 we got to change something up. Yeah. Well, didn't they score the first goal in every game except for game six, which normally is an indicator that like you're going to win a lot of these games.
Starting point is 00:43:15 And the second line with Pod and KK and Drysidal has been your best line by a mile. Right. So I'm like, what do you mean you're changing the lines? Like, are you killing the second line? And what's the sneaky thing is I feel like the undertone there is
Starting point is 00:43:31 we're putting Drysiddle up there get Connor going. Right. Which is weird because I'm like, why does Connor need to get going? He's Connor fucking McDavid. And he's probably because he's injured. Yeah, but I think he's dead. I think he, I think his ankle is hanging off his body. And is that what, it was, is it an ankle injury for sure? Is that a guess? I thought he was cut at first, but I now think his ankle is just destroyed. Cut like his Achilles. No, I thought he literally got sliced by, um, who was that? At home he got tied up with. I thought he had like a horrible cut on his leg, but I think now his ankle is just so rolled. And it's one of those, if this was a running sport, he would be out.
Starting point is 00:44:05 But since you can just get in that boot and tie it up. And yeah, put a lot of athletic tape on there. Yeah, they'll just play. But I think he's just got nothing on that angle. It's just, you know, you know, I feel like they came in, unconfident, yep, tired. Oh my God. Because if there's the thing, even when you don't win the cup and you go to two cup runs, you're still, you still played just as many games. And you expect it from a team that won the cup. You're like, yeah, there's going to be a decline. They won the cup. But these fuckers also went there, played as many games, and they've still got
Starting point is 00:44:38 cut blue balls. Yeah, exactly. Oh, nice. But, oh, we go. We got Dan. Or do I found OKCCP? You sound perfect, Dan. Dude, hello.
Starting point is 00:44:47 And yeah, we're golden. Dan, we're live. Don't say anything crazy. I won't say anything crazy. I'm with the Bachelor right now. We just had a nice par. You're literally drunk in our match. So we're golden.
Starting point is 00:44:59 What hole are we on? We just finished eight. It's starting to rain here. We got treacherous weather in South Carolina. Have we boys on about three hours asleep from the red eye? But we're firing. Have we put in an order for hot dogs at the turn yet? We have not.
Starting point is 00:45:15 Actually, Chris, Babs are a cart girl. It's slacking if we're being honest. She's flacked. Dude, that is a true tragedy, Dan, because if it's drizzling rain, I better be getting you. Like, you can see it. I got rain coming in my face. We got to put up the shield here. Careful, Dan.
Starting point is 00:45:31 But in a perfect world, we see the cart girl two times on each nine, correct? Yes. Oh, yeah. Easily, and if she's doing her job, three. Because if I'm doing my job, I've had four water hazards by then. And she knows I've got to get back to him. CP's running dry by the eighth fairway. Well, by the eighth rough, I should say.
Starting point is 00:45:51 I'm never in the fairway. That's absolutely true. What are we talking? We talk in Oilers Ducks here? We're on to, we've moved to Oilers Ducks, Dan, and I want you to take this opportunity, and to be very clear,
Starting point is 00:46:03 I have had some of the most fun days and nights of my life in Edmonton, Alberta, and I have become dear friends with many people there. But Dan, I want you to take this opportunity to express your relief about the travel situation. Folks, here's the deal. It's not Edmonton.
Starting point is 00:46:26 I love it. I have a blast in Edmonton. We love our friends at the pint. We love everyone we meet there in Edmonton. The travel is just a bag. And I would be lying, and I always want to be honest with you all, I would be lying if I said I wasn't drastically relieved that I don't need to fly to and from Edmonton
Starting point is 00:46:46 over the course of two weeks again. I feel terrible for McDavid. I feel terrible for Leon. Everyone knows how much I love Leon, but I feel great for me. It is a big day for me. Sitting on that plane last night, watching the waning seconds of the oiler season ticked down,
Starting point is 00:47:04 I felt sad, but then I felt relieved. With how much I've traveled this year already, knowing that I didn't have that travel coming up was a very good feeling. I won't lie. Yeah, that's incredible. Are you about to put or tee off?
Starting point is 00:47:15 I'm about to tee off, but we got a good, good few minutes here so I can get my reps in. Okay, so I'm gonna, do you want to just hit me with stuff or do you want to let me roll? Oh, well, I was going to just hit you with the things I cared about,
Starting point is 00:47:27 but you can roll if you're rolling. I love that. Let me just roll real quick. I want to talk mostly about the duckies. Yep. Because here's the thing with Edmonton. We said it all year. McDavid said it perfectly in the locker room.
Starting point is 00:47:39 They were mediocre all year. They never got into a groove. And when you're mediocre all year, you're never going to get into a rhythm and you're never going to go deep in the playoffs. McDavid's a hockey mind. He gets it. I want to talk about the ducks
Starting point is 00:47:51 because we said this team, this Oilers team wasn't as good as last year or the year before. So am I a little surprised they lost to the ducks in round one? Yes, but I didn't see them going past round two. So a little bit earlier over an exit than I thought, but this wasn't the Euler's year. What it is, potentially, is the duckies year
Starting point is 00:48:08 because that performance was incredible. We kept saying with Marty on our playoff preview, young, dumb and full of come, this team is chaka-bock, dude. They've got a deep, blueish shoe on the ball bag right now with how much they're firing. you see the way Leo's playing you see the way Beckett's playing in that first round and can you give me a couple of
Starting point is 00:48:29 stick taps dude a couple of days ago I said it on the live Cryder's birthday Thursday he hasn't been hot yet and then Bada Bing Bada boom 3 point night and that fucking 1T goal was disgusting was disgusting what we were texting him before the game and I go Dan was like I'm feeling it dude I knew you're going to have a big
Starting point is 00:48:47 day on your birthday and I said to him I actually think you're going to get two on your birthday he gets that first Knipe and then at the end of the game, Leo and him are coming down on an empty net two on one. And I'm like, it's his birthday. Give him the fucking buck. And I was couldn't wait to be like, holy shit he got two. And then Leo stuffed it, which like was the right play, obviously.
Starting point is 00:49:06 But I was so pissed. I was like, Leo, you fucked me. You fucked me. It was insane. Couple great things. Great game for Do Stahl to get hot. I know the Oilers didn't test him that much, but that, hey, you always say it. Sometimes you need your goalie to have a shutdown game.
Starting point is 00:49:20 He had a shutdown game going into round two. having that performance from him you feel great about you feel great about how everyone's firing and playing right now and the vibes in honda man people want to shit on southern carav california hockey the vibes in honda were incredible the whole ducks gang is incredible i'm excited for this team that was a big dick performance man i'm fucking fired up about it and i'll tell you this too this team is i don't want to say too young enough or immature enough but But they're silly enough, dude. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:56 We're used to geese being silly, but these might be the silly ducks. Wow. They're silly enough that they could cause some damage. Dude, they're stealing silly goose from geese everywhere. Like, silly goose is now dead. It's now silly duck. Exactly, man. So, listen, I think the ducks just did it right.
Starting point is 00:50:15 The way they were, like, Leo Selly's after the goals, after Crider's goal, Leo jumping into Crider. They're feeling it. Like, this wasn't I like, hey, you know how we were talking about? with the flyers, they get past the pens and they're kind of like easy money. Yeah. I think the ducks are, the gears are turning, dude. Like, they're like, let's fucking go on a little run here. Do you have to believe that you can beat Utah or Vegas?
Starting point is 00:50:35 You know, if it gets to whoever that you get in the central, that'll be a tougher one on paper. But I am so with you, dude, that you are going, like, I just said this to Eva about house money. You are going, oh, amazing, it's house money we're in the second round. Fuck that, dude. Go beat the mammoth or go beat a, like, struggling Vegas team. And then you're in the Western Conference fucking finals against the central team that's been through two wars, you know, which is what the Oilers have done the last couple of years. So I am so with you. There's you could start dream.
Starting point is 00:51:03 Hey, dude, it's the land of Disneyland. Dream big. You know, dream big, buddy, because it's the happiest place on Earth. The ducklings could go, the ducklings could literally find themselves in the Stanley Cup. Completely agree. Listen, boys, I got to go tee off, but thanks for letting me pop on. All I'm going to finish with is shout out my boy Jackson LaCone. them buzzing for the ducks. And listen, I'm thrilled about it. I'm thrilled about it. We're
Starting point is 00:51:28 going to be in Honda for round two. Cannot wait to get there. Dan, can you just say, we don't negotiate with terrorists. Now watch this drive. We do not. We do not negotiate with terrorists. Now watch this drive. See you. Later, boys. Okay, thank you, Dan. That was incredible. I just got a text from him that said his drive was right down the cock. And I knew it would be. I knew. Oh, he, uh, he, he did it. Yeah, he did it. He did it right down the dick. It's amazing. Is that a, is that a technical phrase right down the cock?
Starting point is 00:52:01 Dude, if you listen to the 99 Masters, that's the first time they used it. I remember it was Tiger on 18, you know, and that's a tight T shot. And they said, this is a lot of pressure here. And I remember they said, I think it was Johnny Miller. He said, he said, it's right down the cock. Cool. Yeah. So, dude, yeah, you brought this up before Dan came on with the Orlis have scored first in every, game and I was expecting them to score first again and to come out absolutely fucking flying because they are a playoff
Starting point is 00:52:30 experience team they know you have to have a first good 10 minutes they are on the road so they need to do this and they've done the super line and then I actually thought it was a super tense first period from them which I was like what are you fucking doing right that was insane and then the fucking duck score first
Starting point is 00:52:45 like holy shit I mean I do you think if the ducks don't score first completely changes the complexion of this game. Yep, right? Because the crowd, dude. That's a nervous crowd. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:58 And it was crazy, too. It went, the goal, like hit paling in the ass. You know, like, it literally just hit him in the ass and went in. Yeah. And I thought to myself in the moment, man, that could be a backbreaker for a lesser team than the Orlers. Road playoff game, you could be eliminated. And they just shot a puck, hit point shot, hit someone else, hit paling in the ass, goes in. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:19 You're like, we're dead. but the oilers, not only are they so good, but also the oilers, like they've been to the two straight cups. I was like, the adversity they've experienced, that means that's not going to efface them at all. But then the birthday boy right after that. And like, what a breakout. Holy, that's like, those are, those clips are the coach's fucking wet dreams. When it's like, you're in your own zone. And then it's like, oh, steal the puck in the corner, bang, center, bang to center, bang, back to center, bang, weak side wing, one T under the bar. And I'm like, dude, it was behind our goal line six seconds ago. And it's like, doosh in their dad. That's Quimville, right?
Starting point is 00:53:53 Yeah. He likes to move the puck very fast. And also, I'm forgetting that, I'm blanking on the name, but the former Oilers coach, who is now the power play coach for the Ducks. Yes. Woodcroft. Yeah. Yeah, Woodcroft probably knows a lot about how to like, like what the game plan is.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Totally. God, dude, great call. I was so pumped for cries with Dan and I were just talking about it, but what a snipe. But, you know, two goal leads, especially for the ducks, two goal leads have meant fucking dick in this series. No, absolutely. It's the highest scoring series. Sounds like whatever.
Starting point is 00:54:26 That doesn't matter. And then the Oilers' fourth line, dude, again, like every time this team has needed a goal, the bottom six, the depth scores. Oilers' fourth line gets a goal. This one scared me for the duck's sake because, I mean, Dan and I were laughing the other episode with you about how actually bad Dostel's been. When we think he's a great goalie, but you look at his numbers and you're like, dude, this is, this is, you're the, it's a horse race. You're literally a statistical, worst goalie in play. And like that is, we can't have that. And this goal is a bad rebound to be harsh.
Starting point is 00:54:58 Like, that is a fluttering shot right here that you just bang. But then once it's loose, all hell breaks loose. So the actual goal isn't on him because it's like, what are you going to do there? Chaos in front of the net. But you just, you have to have that rebound. Even if you're not trapping it, it's just got to be gone. So just to spill that right in front. And in that moment, I'm like, okay, well, the Orwers are scoring five goals today.
Starting point is 00:55:17 So here we go. And then, but then the first period, dude, it kind of ramped because then Cutter gets the powerplay goal, which that's such a goal scores goal because it's like, you didn't get all that, but it just finds a way to get in. And God, I'm going to talk about this more later, but the Ducks Power Play, dude, is insane. Eight for 16 in the series is 50 bonkers. Like, it is literally why they want. Like, that is fucking bonkers. So I just chirped Dostol, but I got to give him credit because there was, I think it was the end. of the first, Roslitt kind of got in alone and it hit the crossbar. And then the early second, Hyman got a breakaway. And he stopped both of those.
Starting point is 00:56:00 And those are huge saves. Like as much as I want to beke him about previous goals and rebounds, those are massive, massive saves in that moment. And then I also think this, I'm such a protect our goalies guy. I wonder what you think of. If someone comes down on a breakaway
Starting point is 00:56:13 and goes over the bar, or goes over my shoulder as the goalie, but it hits the crossbar. Yeah. And I go, wow, big, big from Dostal. Everyone goes, what are you talking about? He fucking hit the crossbar. But I'm like, yeah, but he was in the position that required someone to try to shoot around him that hit the crossbar.
Starting point is 00:56:31 Like, I'm not saying it is a save, but I am saying sometimes when a player hits the post, the goalie did something. Does that make sense? Yeah, but I'll tell you what, though. I'll only give him credit if he doesn't do this. Yeah. Because that happens big time, too. It's always like, yeah, they're like, oh, fuck. Like that.
Starting point is 00:56:49 They don't know where the puck went. But yeah, I mean, of course, like, yeah, they're in position. They're playing, they're getting big in net, right? Yeah. How big is, how big is that goal? Is he really tall? Let me see. He is.
Starting point is 00:57:02 Sometimes I feel like that's a disadvantage too, because if you have to crouch a lot. I know, like Lidar is fucking huge, right? Yeah, yeah. He's listed as 6-2, so probably. It's pretty tall. Yeah, but I bet he's maybe isn't quite 6-2, but I bet he's over 6 feet. He's over 6 feet. Are you saying that they lie on their stage?
Starting point is 00:57:16 They do. They lie. Just like every other man. Dude, I heard the sickest stat that the population, the male population in the United States, I'm going to screw this up, but this is a true stat. Yeah. And I encourage everybody to look it up. The male population in the United States only that is over six feet tall is something like 11% or 12%.
Starting point is 00:57:39 And the male user population on dating apps that is over six feet tall is like 78%. Of course. And I'm like, you scumbags. Chat, or not chat, but just anybody who's listening, I can confirm that Dan and Chris are over 60. And I am firmly 5'10. Dude, it's actually funny. I'm not lying. I'm not over six foot. That's one of the most common things we get said to us when once you people meet us in real life.
Starting point is 00:58:03 They're like, oh, you guys are huge. Because you only ever see me sitting down. Yeah, you know, and they're like, oh, wow, I did not know you guys were tall. Okay, so then I thought, dude, the second period was pretty weird because when, you're not, they, you know, Heiming gets the breakway and I'm like, here come the Overs, here come the Overs. But it just nothing, it was a fun hockey period, but nothing really happened. No huge chances. And I guess credit to the ducks for not going immediately into that prevent shell.
Starting point is 00:58:30 You're not playing your game anymore and you get rammed down the throat. Yeah, they waited for the third period. Yeah, yeah. They were like, we're good. To close, to clog the neutral zone up. Yeah. So I thought it was a fun, good period, but not much happening. And that was surprising to me.
Starting point is 00:58:44 And then, dude, you get the Hyman. kick goal, which was fucking hilarious. Yeah. That to me was the backbreaker too. I feel like they're like, well, we give up. Then they got scored on right after that, right? Yes, immediately. And bro, that was so funny to me because- At the end of the second. Yeah, yeah, like 30 seconds. When you get scored within like the last minute of a period, that's such a backbreaker. And you think you just scored with a minute left to make it three, two, to go into third. But dude, that was so funny. I've actually had people ask me, why would you ever kick it when that's not allowed? And the
Starting point is 00:59:15 answer to that is shit can happen. Like you're, sometimes you're trying to kick it to your stick and you just don't get your stick there in time. But sometimes if you kick it, I'm pretty sure this is a lot. If you kick it and the goalie saves it and then it bounces back out and you shoot it. I'm like 99% sure they count that. I know if you kick it and it like hits the goalie and goes in, they don't go, oh, that's a goal because it ricochet. Yeah. I mean, there's a chance that the goal like wholly fumbles it. Yeah. And then it's his goal kind of. Yes, but I think they still go no goal. Oh really? I think so. I'm pretty sure the rule is like, if I kick it and it hits the goal and and then I'm like, and I drop it in.
Starting point is 00:59:48 They're like, no. But if you kick it and it hits like his paddle and comes right back to you and then you've hammered in the goal, that's a goal. So that's why you kick it. But this one just looked so funny because Hyman literally just, I mean, that is the cleanest world cup goal you'll ever see in your fucking life. And Quenville was killing me on the bench because I don't know how the refs missed that. And I'm not, we are not.
Starting point is 01:00:09 This is not a chirp the refs podcast. It is not. No. But the refs calling that a goal was high comedy. Cuenville on the bench is like, what are you insane? Dude, his most clear kick of all time. I actually give McDavid credit too because he's behind Hyman and he scores and McDavid goes, because I'm like, you know that he kicked that, but you got to, everybody's going to sell. It's the most half-hearted fucking celebration ever.
Starting point is 01:00:29 So good. Oh, man. But then you're right, dude, right 30 seconds later, a minute later, whatever it was. Yep. Troy Terry. I think that's when the game ended. Dude. So I have a couple things say about that.
Starting point is 01:00:39 One, we questioned them going to Ingram in Game 5 after Jari. And I don't think Jari's that good either, but just, I was like, I don't know why you're going back to Ingram. And then I thought he played a good game five. And they, and they won comfortably. Yeah. I thought Ingram played, I'm trying to think of all the goals. Like, Criders was as, I guess cutters he probably wanted back. Payling's obviously not his fault. But cutters, you're kind of go, fuck, you should have had that one.
Starting point is 01:01:02 Even though it's a one, it's a weak side one T power play, like what, from a 40 goal score. Yeah. But like, yeah, you want that one back. This Troy Terry one, I don't even know what he was doing. You have the clip up. Like, watch this clip. watching it right now. Watch this clip, Ev. I don't know what attempt of a save this is. Like, this is not that good of a shot from Terry. And it goes five hole. Like, I don't even think
Starting point is 01:01:22 Terry's trying to shoot five hole. I think, I think, I think Terry shot sooner than he thought he was going to show. Okay. Yeah. He probably thought he was going to hold onto it a little bit longer and he was going to like cut off that. Yeah, maybe. But then he just, yeah, it was five whole, right? Yeah, yeah. Watch this view of it. Like, can you see this? Yeah, yeah. Okay. Watch this view of it right here. Look at that. His leg is up. Yeah, exactly. And he knows. Panger on the call was like, I don't know, because Panger was a goal. He's like, I don't know what that was. And I was like, I mean either. And that's a huge, to your point, that is a huge moment. Yeah. No, that was the end. That was the end. And dude. And dude, but I will say, dude, but we had been like two goal leads are a nightmare in this series. When this one went in, I did think we were flying V. I was like, okay. Get it. Dude, here we go. And you were waiting for the come down. The boys are flying V. And it was happening. The Oilers then. because they're the Oilers, score immediately in the third. Yep.
Starting point is 01:02:17 And then my thought, then I went Duck Hunter again. I was okay. We're back to Duck Hunter. And here comes, and this one, Ev, this one is going to hurt. But you're up 4-1 in game six at home, knowing that you're going to go, you're going to have to go lose at Rogers in Game 7. I was like this, this 5-4 loss is going to fucking devastate people. Right.
Starting point is 01:02:38 End franchises, the fold arenas like this is over. And I should have remembered that Timo was in the building, and he wouldn't let that happen. He'd get down there on the ice. He would have literally like the ducks. Like, you know when Russ Tyler is the knucklepuck guy's dress as the goalie? I think they would have done a back pass to Dostle. And he goes like this, and it's Timo. And they're like, oh, my God.
Starting point is 01:03:01 He fires one in from Center Ice, goes glove off. He shoots the guns. I know he did that for the Jets, but still he can do it for the ducks. Of course. He has the copyright on that. He has the copyright on that. That's his. But dude, I got to say, man, after the early third period goal,
Starting point is 01:03:16 bouncing off the leg. The surge just never came. The surge never came. They're tired. They're tired. I think you're right. Hey, you know, in Euro Trip. You seen that movie?
Starting point is 01:03:28 No, dude. I have not seen Eurochrip. You've never seen Eurotrip? I think when did that come out? 2002? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I missed that one. Bro, you need to.
Starting point is 01:03:37 Your homework this weekend is to watch Eurotrip. Great. My homework is to watch Euro Trip. It's incredible. I mean, it's like ridiculous. Is that Tom Green's in it, right? Isn't it like bit in the hand by a snake? I think he does.
Starting point is 01:03:46 Oh, dude. No, that's, um... That's your trip. No, dude. That is road trip. Oh. And he is get bit by a snake. And he also confuses Austin and Boston in that movie.
Starting point is 01:03:58 And it's in, that is the crux of the, uh, drama of the conflict. Okay. Okay. That was road trip. This is Euro trip. Too many trips. Euro trip is tremendous. Freddy got fingered is one of my favorite conferences of all time.
Starting point is 01:04:10 I will say that. What car does he have again? What car is that? The LeBaron. The Red LaBaron! The Red LeBaron! Anyway, dude. We digress. You need to watch Euro Trip, but there is a scene in Euro Trip where they go to a nude beach
Starting point is 01:04:25 because they're like, this would be awesome. Yeah, they're in Europe. And they go to a Ud Beach, and it is all dudes. Actually, no, wait. That does happen to this movie, but that's not even the joke I'm looking for. The joke I'm looking for is he watches the main character really high. at an Amsterdam cafe. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 01:04:44 No spoilers, because you'll get this later. But he, um, the people are like admitting stuff. And he says he watches a gay porn. He watched gay porn once. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 01:04:52 Uh-huh. And they're like, you did. And he goes, I thought it was, uh, a regular porn. And there were two guys,
Starting point is 01:04:58 I was like, oh, it's two guys on a girl. And then the girls never came. And he's like, I did, you know, I was like watching and watching and then the girls never came.
Starting point is 01:05:04 The surge never came. I was watching this like this. I got my popcorn, dude. I was so ready. Here comes to McDavid. who goal job, including one end-to-end highlight reel that we'll talk about forever. We get overtime. I get pissed about no empty-netter, and then dry saddle scores on overtime,
Starting point is 01:05:19 and we're going to game seven. And then the surge never came. I was so ready, dude. And the surge, I had a fucking Celsius to stay up all night, and then the game just ended. But like gay porn, somebody got fucked. Somebody was fucked. And it was the oilers. And it was the oilers, dude. Leo, I talked about this with Dan while you were gone, but Leo, empty-netter, I wanted it to be cried her, but it's okay. The ducks, dude, can win the next series. Yeah, because it's going to be...
Starting point is 01:05:45 Utah or Vegas. Absolutely. We could very easily see Ducks versus, let's say, Aves or Minnesota, but I've, you know, I mean, hell, they could be in the conference finals. Ducks Power Play 8 for 16. We were talking about this, one for two last night.
Starting point is 01:06:01 The Oilers were four for 14 in the series, 28.6%, which their regular season, they were 30.1 led the league. Right. 28.6, when I was thinking about, when I looked this stat up, I was like, I bet their power play's been awful, because that's what it felt like. Right. 28.6 is actually fine. Would have nearly led the NHL. But I guess we've just seen in the past the Oilers power play, the Oriel's special teams be such a difference in the playoffs. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:06:26 Literally they're usually 50%. Their penalty kills is incredible. To have their PK go 50, which is a fucking nightmare. And then their power play be good, but just not as good as the ducks. I mean, they did not, they certainly didn't see that kind of. and that was a massive difference made. Nobody saw this coming. Nobody saw that coming. I mean, I can't say nobody because we did kind of see them sputter, right? Yeah. This year.
Starting point is 01:06:49 But you still kind of think at least they're going to get past the first round. I know. Ducks were younger and it faster too. They out rushed them. Yes. Dude, Dan said a version of this quote, but it said, in one of the articles, it said, Connor McDavid felt the Edmonton Oilers did not have the team to live up to the lofty expectations.
Starting point is 01:07:05 Yeah. We've been searching for consistency all year and obviously we didn't find it here in the playoffs. It's tough. We were an average team all year. An average team with high expectations. You're going to be disappointed. We just never found it. Everything he just said is correct. What's weird to me is, in my opinion, they have been an average team for three years in a row. Like, I look at this roster, and there is no, you don't go, oh my God, I see what happened this year. You lost Jason Robertson and blah, blah, blah. Like, you are, you have exactly the same good players. And Evan Bouchard had had an all-time year and miss me with any goalie issues because you've had goalie issues for three
Starting point is 01:07:37 years. Right. So it's kind of weird. They're hurt 100%. Like obviously he is, I cannot wait to hear the facts about what's happened to him, what's happened to Leon. Like all three of their centers are hurt. They are very hurt.
Starting point is 01:07:48 But, and they're very tired to your point. But I'm like, you have the same team. Like the same team. Yeah. I mean, look, we don't have to get into this in depth, but what do you think about McDavid's future? Dude, well, I did want to talk about it because I've waffled on this. there was a stretch where I was like,
Starting point is 01:08:09 he will never leave. He would rather die than leave. And then there was a stretch before this contract negotiation that I was like, oh my God, he could leave. And I kind of don't blame him because he's not getting the support he wants. Then he wrote that Players Tribune article for the Olympics, or maybe it was Four Nations, but I think the Olympics. No, it was for the Olympics.
Starting point is 01:08:27 It was this year, right? Yeah. Yeah, it was right before the Olympics. And I was like, oh, my God, McDavid would rather die than leave the Oilers. Right. But I do believe we'll never find this out. I mean, maybe his friends and wife know. But I do believe that the reason he signed this two year,
Starting point is 01:08:44 the deal he did is and not committing long, was to not commit long term because he was like, I'm going to entertain leaving. Otherwise, just sign an eight year and be on your, make it easy on them. Yeah. So I refuse to believe that he won't consider it because of the contract he signed.
Starting point is 01:09:02 And I'm sure there were conversations that were like, We need to get better. And he's out here going like this, direct quote, we don't have the team to live up to our expectations. Yep. So I'm like, and then you go, how is this your goalie room? But on the other hand, you go,
Starting point is 01:09:20 it's not like you can just get teams good goalies. They want them. I think goaltending across the league is kind of down, right? Like it feels like they're all a little average. Scoring's up. And save percentage is down. Like it's actually been a crazy thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:09:36 But, but dude, you have to go, it's very hard to go to the oilers. Hey, make a move. Go trade for fucking, go get Gustafson from the wild. And that's actually a good example because maybe they're like, we have Allstead. We don't care. But it's just my point is it's not easy for this oilers brass to just go give Connor his A plus goal. Yeah. Right?
Starting point is 01:09:56 Like that's a hard thing. So this year, they get a pass, I think, where he's like, I don't know, we made a trade. Like we got Skinner out. We got Jari. It didn't work. We got Ingram, it didn't work, but like, we made a trade. Thank you for trying. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:08 I, dude, I've been getting a lot of fucking texts from people who do this. You know, we have fun. These people do this. And I'm getting texts from people like being like he could go. I'm not saying he's going. You mean this, this summer. This summer. Yeah, like, see you later.
Starting point is 01:10:23 Where is he going? Detroit. I got a lot of things. Detroit's actually a popular one. LA's a popular one, which would be fucking epic. Do you think he wants to stay in Canada, though? Do you think that matters? Because I'm assuming he has a, he gets to say where he gets to go.
Starting point is 01:10:36 Oh, dude, 1,000. 1,000. Yeah, yeah, 1,000%. And, dude, he, I think he won't stay in Canada because I think that would be harder. For him, honestly, but also for the fan base to swallow. Like, if he goes to just another Canadian team, they're kind of like, damn, dude. Can you imagine if he went to the Leafs? Bro.
Starting point is 01:10:54 Like, it would be insane. One nightmare for another. Yeah. But if he goes, and I'm sure he would like a little bit less, he's never going to get zero scrutiny. He's Connor McDavid. but I'm sure he would like a little bit less scrutiny. Sure. And Toronto is a fucking...
Starting point is 01:11:05 That's more. Somehow that's more. Disaster. Yeah. But he comes to the Kings and he's like, sick. Whatever. I'm having a blast. They need to Senate.
Starting point is 01:11:12 That would be pretty fun. Boom. Kings Ransom Part 2. Gretzky to the L.A., McDavid to L.A. Dude, anybody from L.A. would never be allowed to go to Edmonton ever again. Yeah, correct.
Starting point is 01:11:22 Insane. So... Did it twice. I think he could. I think the Oilers probably... And again, I'm getting texted about this summer. Yeah. I'm thinking the Oilers probably.
Starting point is 01:11:32 get a pass this summer because of we tried, whatever, but I will tell you, because I think his two years are about to kick, and he won't walk for free. I don't believe he would ever do that to this team. So next year, if they suck, next year. Yeah, next year's the year. Really? By, dude.
Starting point is 01:11:48 100% buy. The one you come back to is like, could he do that to Leon, which would suck. Like 100% Leon will be like, bro. But it's this man's career, dude. Like, it's not like they're not friends anymore. Leon will understand, obviously, maybe Leon leaves in a couple years. Who knows? Certainly, I have a lot of people telling me there's no way Connor leave. He'd rather
Starting point is 01:12:06 die and never win a cup with Leon. And I'm like, incorrect. No, you obviously want to win a cup. And look, I think that it's, I think hockey players especially are more loyal than any other athlete when it comes to like wanting to stay with the team typically. I look at like Sid, the last superstar before McDavid. And he wants to be a career penguin. But that works because he won three championships. Yes. And so then you're allowed to play out your your, your, your, career and realistically everybody gives you a pat on the back because they're like, well, you might not be winning now. But like, hey man, you did so much for this franchise that of course you can retire here and you probably don't want to move on because that legacy means more to you. But if you haven't won any cups, then you've got to like wash your hands of it at a certain point and go like, I need to move on. I'm the best player in the league. And I don't even know how many more years that's going to be true. Dude, like, and we all take him for granted, bro. Like he's been around so long. We're like David's so young. We keep thinking he's a rookie, but he isn't. 29, dude.
Starting point is 01:13:03 Like, and I, that's not old, obviously. No, it's not old, but it's... He's been in the league fucking, it's like 12 years in a row where he hasn't won. And I'm like, and it's hard. It's hard to win the cop. Ovi went however many years, right? Like this, it's not easy.
Starting point is 01:13:16 Yeah. But eventually I'm like, dude, what is happening? Like, we are not in the mixer here. And we feel like we're going this way. Yeah. Which is scary. It's a bummer. So I will leave it at this.
Starting point is 01:13:29 I cannot fathom that the Western conference final of the last two years. Dallas Edmonton, Dallas Edmonton, two years in a row are both golfing on May 1st. That is crazy. But they got beat by better teams. They got beat by better teams. In this series, I'm not saying in the big stretch, but they got beat the better team won in both of those series. And I think Dallas and Edmonton both have some serious splainting to do and some serious questions to answer this summer. Caps going up. A lot of cap space, the Orlers, they have a lot of cap space, but they're only 19th in the league, but they do have like maybe 16, maybe more million.
Starting point is 01:14:08 Right. I think Bush is up maybe, so you got to like figure that out or no, he just signed. They got to figure out some shit, but they're definitely going to try to build, this is the moment, right? If Connor doesn't go this summer, which I don't think so, I'm getting text, but I don't think so. But this is the summer where you need to build a team that keeps Connor McDavid. Yes.
Starting point is 01:14:27 So heavy pressure on who you sign, any trade you make, because it's like, Okay, this is the roster that... Stan Bowman, you're on watch right now. Yeah, this is the roster that will either piss him off or not. And I also want to say, I know Dan said on his thing, our long travel nightmare is over, because it is a bag. To go to Edmonton.
Starting point is 01:14:46 We can never... There's like no good flights, no direct flight. It's just such a grind. But as I said on the interview with Dan, I have so much love for that place. I have so much love for the people there. That was a hockey crazed city. Dude, and I was getting a bunch of texts
Starting point is 01:14:59 from my friends there last night. And dude, I don't need to, Vancouver, like, burned the city down once, and people will never let them forget it. So I don't mean to pile on for that reason. Sure. But there was no burning the city down in a bad way. They were burning down in a good way. Every text I get was packed bars.
Starting point is 01:15:16 Everyone, what did I say about Buffalo and Boston last episode? I love when communities go, let's be miserable together. Like, our team lost. So they all got together and got drunk. Everyone was out at the bars, boozing. Being sad, but all the video message I was getting was like, next year. baby. Next year's our year. And I was like, that is why I fucking love them. That is why I love the Oilers because they have that. And they will fight. They will fight till the fucking very end.
Starting point is 01:15:42 And if they lose, they will get back up and fight again next year. Hey man. It's apparently the best ice in the league I've heard. Yeah. Them and Montreal, Montreal, Del Center. As far as like the quality of the ice, obviously it's incredibly cold up there. So it's probably easier. But yeah, I'm, I really like McDavid and I hope that he gets his championship and I really hope that it happens in Edmonton just for the story of it but yeah yeah they pretty much have a year right that's it's go time biggest big dude no joke because I guess you didn't really know the Gratzky thing was about to happen like that snuck up on everybody yeah I'm willing to say that this is the most important season in the history of the Edmonton oilers franchise this upcoming season legitimately bum bum
Starting point is 01:16:26 you heard it here first you don't have to win but you need to yeah you need to get very close and you need to go, wow, we got upset and we had the perfect roster. You know, you cannot feel inferior next year. Yeah, you got to be super confident coming in. And hopefully the injuries will subside in. Yeah, yeah, yeah. God, you got a little luck.
Starting point is 01:16:46 Yeah. Holy shit. So, Ev, we got we got some action tonight. Let's just say who we got. Let's just preview some of the games. We have let me pull it up. Oh my God. Three all-time game sixes. Tampa Canadians in Montreal very similar to the Minnesota series here for me because this is Habs who have looked better
Starting point is 01:17:06 and it's surprising to me that they've looked better and now they won a massive game 5 on the road and now they're home for game 6 in front of a rocking crowd who really wants it I would love a game 7 there feels like Montreal to me the way the series is gone do you think they're going to win tonight Montreal because it felt like Minnesota to me too
Starting point is 01:17:25 for the same reason I was like you've been better. I don't know, though. Remember, we were talking about how Tampa Bay kind of ebbs and flows where they have these moments where you think they're down and out and then they come back. I know. It happened all season. So maybe they have a little more. I mean, I never count out John Cooper. Can he rally these boys? Yep. Tampa needs more from their depth. Actually, they need more from their star sticks. We were talking about that. But they need they need some, the bottom six to not be getting scored on a million times by Montreal's bottom six. And a big bounce back game from Vassie, too.
Starting point is 01:17:57 Yep. Got need to shudder. Maybe. Brewing Sabers. I know who you want to win. I know who I want to win. And I actually think they can, though, because Sway has been incredible. They're at home. But they lost both home games already in this series.
Starting point is 01:18:13 Like, to lose all three games in Boston would be a fucking tragedy. Yeah. It just feels like you can get this one. And I will be picking Buffalo in game seven probably, unless Sway post another, unless Swoey post a shutout and it's just unconscious. Yeah. I think Buffalo can win this series still. but I think Boston can maybe steal this one at home.
Starting point is 01:18:28 But it will be close. This will not be. The Bruins, the bloodbath, the Bruins gave the Sabres in game two is not coming again. The Sabres are too dialed right now. Yeah. So this one is going to be, this one is going to be tight. Maybe OT again, F, maybe OT again here. I love it.
Starting point is 01:18:44 I love it. God, I'm just drunk on Game 7s, but I just think the mammoth can win this game. Absolutely. They've been so good. And it's like, man, they're home, the Delta Center. I think they win this game. back to Vegas and maybe they lose that one, but I think they can, I think they can push this to seven. I really do too. I think that they're going to play for those fans who are so hungry
Starting point is 01:19:04 and excited. And I've, like I've said before, I'm very surprised at the resilience of the, of the mammoths. Same. But again, it's like, this is a roster, I forget, but I don't know the exact number, but I think there are a fair number of Stanley Cup winners on that roster. On the mammoth? Yeah. I don't know if that's right. Is that, is that not true? Maybe I'm thinking another team. Vegas got some obviously. I mean, they were the Yotes, and they hadn't won shit. Mammoth roster, Stanley Cup winners.
Starting point is 01:19:31 I want to look that up. Yeah, see if anyone's won a cup on the Manif. Oh, Nate Schmidt, Panthers, Surgachev. Oh, not that many. Well, okay. What do we got? Well, you know, it's not, this is not definitive. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:51 This is when we go to the box, dude. Schmidt, Vanek, Panette, Hanev, Yamamoto. Okay, so, but more than I thought, though. No, yeah, okay, so it wasn't as many as I thought, but I'm just saying, well, anytime you have Brandon Tanov on your team. Dude, good things happen. Is he the one? He's the one who was that crazy.
Starting point is 01:20:11 Good things happen. Yeah, man, I'm, I'm excited for this game, too. I do think probably if I had to pick Vegas and seven, at this point, I would switch my pick to Vegas and seven. Yeah, I feel good about that. is the experience in torts, but I do feel like mammoth are going to put up a good fight.
Starting point is 01:20:30 I think we deserve a seven there. I think we deserve seven in that series. That's been so fun. We need to get a game seven at least in the first round. Actually, Evan, fantastic point. Hold on. Because it would be, I said we were going to get fucking six of them.
Starting point is 01:20:48 And then I didn't get the Pitt one. I didn't get the Edmonton one. I didn't get the Dallas one. So then there's only these three left. and if we get none, because there's a chance these just all end, if we get none of these, that would be awful. That'd be tragic, we actually, dude, I'm glad you just brought that up. We fucking need one of these.
Starting point is 01:21:07 We need one of them has to go. Give me two, but I'd take three. I would, I mean, I'm more, I'm more of an Eastern Conference guy because they grew up on the Eastern Conference. So I would love to see a Montreal, Tampa, or a Buffalo Boston game seven. That would be fucking awesome. just, yeah, so fucking Alzheimer's. Okay, that's all I got, dude.
Starting point is 01:21:29 Yeah, that's it. Well, we got big games tonight. We got to get some rest, and then we got to watch them. Then we got to watch them. So everybody rest up. Tune in, have a fucking great weekend, and feed us some game sevens. And until then, skate hard.
